Natanians and Nosts was close to defeating Lisander, but the bi-national team managed to score two points more than us,the team that comprises of young lads that accidentally joined the competition last year and returned half to keep representing the country, healf because they weren't that bad, stood well against a team composed by cricket players. It is noteworthy that Lisander had 9 wicket falls, against the 6 given by the Natanians and Nosts.
The game was close, and as a cricket fan would call "exciting",even if the players from Natanians and Nosts almost slept out of boredoom during the match still. The team will face Azadeshia that lost to West-Phoenicia.

Shockwaves in Team West Phoenicia fan base as nation celebrates second win.

After beating out unranked team Azadeshia, many sport reporters saw it as a once off. The Lightning Bolts had engaged in a few seasons had had built up some skills.

Azadeshia being the first nation they were up against was going to suffer West Phoenician fury in their pursuit to win at at cost and start the season off with a bang.

Now West Phoenicia has come up against Liventia. They have come up against Liventia in multiple sporting events the lastest was the III World Cycling Championship where Liventia lead the medal tally and placed first overall; West Phoenicia did exceedingly well placing 3rd.

In many sports fans eyes Liventia was going to be the clear winner. They are the number 2 ranked team and while West Phoenicia was in the top 10, it was more of a fluke they had got there compared to how well they performed.

So it was a huge surprise to the fans and media attending the event to witness West Phoenicia take out the game against a better ranked team.
Millions of fans tuned into WP Sport news utterly shocked at the results of their Men's Cricket team. Whether this translates to increased fans is yet to be known?

The end result was Liventia 131/6 in 20 overs and West Phoenicia which won the day 133/5 in 17.5 overs.

Aaron Shields was the batter of the day scoring 50 runs for the Lightning Bolts.

The Lightning Bolts have a bye tomorrow allowing the team to rest before they take on Natanians and Nosts in game 4.

Jhalpharezi Stays On Pace

Jhalpharezi Spice National Team players all seemed to be on the same page after their first victory in World T20 Championship cricket. In multiple interviews ranging from radio shows and internet blogs to television broadcasts, different players used the word momentum. One such player was Batsman Chander Chadda.

"Securing a victory was the hard part. From here we have to keep up the fight individually, to keep the team's momentum alive."

Bowlers also echoed the sentiment, although the Spice's batsmen seemed to save their first win by narrowly edging out the 8th ranked team from Devonta. Bowler Vikrant Azam said, "If we keep throwing with confidence, momentum will fall for Jhalpharezi's bowlers as well. We'll give up less runs and more wickets will fall."

The unranked Spice faced 12th ranked Damukuni for their second WT20C match. It was sure to be a cracker. The spice came out motivated, swinging hard. They got off to an early lead, but found themselves stalling as the overs went on.

This time, accurate and consistent bowling helped Jhalpharezi stay in the game even during a cold streak at bat. One of the world's top teams was held to 129 runs.

Harsha Datta continued his strong batting presence, leading the Spice in runs once again. He scored 45, with two 4's and one 6 sent over the boundary.

Chander Chadda stepped up his performance scoring 25 runs, compared to 10 in match 1. He added one 6, sent explosively into the stands. Most of his scoring came from consistent hitting rather than power however.

Megh Naidu was substituted for Vannish batsman Matthew Leibold. Cricket in Vangaziland is played mainly by a few select social circles. Imperial Military Academy has Vangaziland's most well known cricket team. There are no pro teams, leaving the talented to seek overseas opportunities. Leibold was scouted as having potential. He's been living in Jhalpharezi for the past two years, playing on a small time pro contract and working during the off-season.

He brings a lot of power to the bat but is still refining his footwork. The national team's scouts see lots of potential in the batsman and made room for him on the 'Extra Players' list.

"Leibold has a few bad habits that we can refine", said Batting Coach Devdas Kabir. "We are also training him to get more flexible in the knees. This will help him become a prominent hitter, some time down the line."

Compared to Vannish cricket, the game is an everyman's sport in Jhalpharezi. Schools in the cities usually have organized programs at the elementary level and leagues for the secondary level. Universities have competitive leagues which act as a feeder to the pros. You can also find pickup games at local parks, with poorer villages often chipping in to buy gear for the community.

Cricket stadiums in Jhalpharezi can be fairly large in capacity, ranging from 30k to 50k+ spectators. The fans are rabid, known for aggressively supporting their side. The sport is far removed from the aristocratic nature of Vangaziland's game. Late in 2016, a game between teams from Bakati and Mahidisi turned into a riot which lasted over an hour. Riot police had to be called in. It was a dangerous situation that became a dark mark on Jhal cricket. Jhal cricket fans became known throughout India as the local hooligans.

The international media didn't hear much about the incident until color commentary during World T20 Championship games, after a popular sports network showed highlights of the riots. The event would not play over well with the sport's more refined fans. Still, the passion for cricket had to be admired.

"Day by day", said the team's Manager, Indranil Barkat. "Match by match. That's the only way we can progress this season. Patience. Consistency. Aggression."

The Spice will face fellow Indian rivals Northwest Kalactin on Match Day 3.

After defeating Juvenis as expected in their first match of the competition, Darmen fell against Asiana in surprising fashion, allowing a massive hit to clear the boundary for six runs on the last delivery of the 19th over. Darmen will now have to face its two toughest matches, against powerhouses Apox and Ko-oren, to close out the initial group stage. Following the loss against Asiana, Darmen is now required to win both of those matches to move onto the Divisional Round. It will certainly be a test of Darmen's strength and character.

Ko-oren's hate-love relationship with cricket

By Bernard Doyle

Herbert Doyle's brother, by the way. Herbert's on the team right now. As a batsman.

Bowlers are cooler though. And it might not surprise you I had a cricketing career myself. As a bowler.

"But you're not playing on the national team right now," you say. You're right. Touché. Herbert's not so bad, I guess. And neither are batsmen. Can't have a battle between bat and ball without the bat, that would be cheating. Anyway, catch me on the Leeshire team when we're playing First Class or List A cricket. Also catch Herbert when he's on that team, but Herbert is also on the Aubury Maroons in the T20 league.

Any discussion about cricket will, at some point, come down to that T20 word. Now that I've mentioned it, I guess the comments beneath this article will turn into a cesspool about the merits of T20... or its detriment to the game. But then again, the comments are always a cesspool. Anyway, I didn't help it by mentioning my little brother's occasional play for the local T20 club. I should've just stayed with mentioning that I sometimes play for Leeshire. It's like Godwin's Law, only crickety.

That's just an example of Ko-orenite cricket fans' hate for their own favourite sport. It's their favourite sport, so you'd say Ko-orenite cricket fans also have love for their own favourite sport. On a larger scale, there's just some sort of hate-love relationship with cricket going on in Ko-oren. Here's my two hundredths of a Korona.

Ko-oren might look like this little island paradise from afar. Gorgeous landscape, a bit by itself, not really hurting anyone, a fairly welcoming place, but also making everything complicated. All the time. Oh, and I suppose all Ko-orenites speak several languages, can all talk to one another, and share values and such. Now, anyone who's spent any kind of time abroad, or studied anything about any other nation at some point, will have to concede that that just doesn't exist. Every country seems united on the outside, but it's always divided on the inside. And I'm not the first to mention that about everyone's favourite green and blue archipelago. Ko-oren's got its own fair share of division.

Here's the point where you might think 'you're a cricketer, there's a world cup on, why aren't you talking about cricket' but here's the thing, that part's still coming up.

Ko-oren is actually this kind of small place. And still, we're trying to keep eight or so large national languages propped up. Twelve, if you count the small ones as well. Sports are a massive thing. And we're imaginging we can stay relevant in the multiverse in seven of them, and respectable in another 10 or so. Meanwhile culture and science are two big factors in this country's relevancy. We keep dividing this country. Into 12 subdivisions. 7 cultural areas (to make it easier on tourists if they're talking about a certain part of the country), 17 sports, 12 languages (and the languages don't correspond to subdivision borders, of course).

I've mentioned the sports thing twice. Because that's our next focus.

17 sports. For simplicity's sake, let's talk about the 7 big ones. Soccer, Gridiron football, Rugby Union, League, Cricket, Baseball and Ko-orenite football. Five of these are essentially football codes, a bit quicker and flashier than the other two, which are bat and ball games, internationally seen as slower sports. And that's fine.

However, not all of the country can have slower sports because the climate doesn't allow it. Only the southern half of the country can support cricket and baseball. And then baseball's played in the southeastern quarter. Cricket's from the more populated southwestern quarter, we've got that going for us. And then this southwestern quarter is small enough as is, but we've got six/twelve teams depending on format. That's right. One-sixth of a quarter of a small country for a team, and then we divide that further into two if we're talking about T20. Six teams in the one-day/four-day cricket business, but 12 teams in the T20 business.

I can see why cricket isn't going to conquer Ko-oren further, and should we want to? We have a healthy season. A healthy playerbase and fanbase. We can compete.

So far, it seems like a lot of hate for the sport. Division upon division. Three formats. 'T20 is a terrible thing'.

But damn, there is no sport in Ko-oren like it. You'll see people from all over the country tuning in for the summer, when the other leagues are lying low. Beautiful grounds, from the mountain vistas of the Aubury Maroons (might be biased though), to the dotted islands of Penstead, the sprawling neverending city of Greencaster, the rolling hills of Cirelbourne, Bruncester, and Norille. It's all cricket territory, and nothing like it is shown on tv in those days. And what better sport to showcase the beauty of the background. The battle between bat and ball. The thwack of a clean hit, the tick or even silence from an edge (but don't worry, you'll hear either bad words from the batsman or the wicketkeeper depending on what happens next), endless statistics for high schoolers to do projects on. The difference between the higher altitude Leeshire, the humid air of Mawryshire, and the low-lying Greencaster venues. And flocks of people are showing up to experience some of it.

But let's be honest, all seven of those sports have something going for them. Time to hate cricket less, but also to hate those other sports less. Watch something else for a change. Watch some cricket, I mean. There's this World Cup thing on, and the Green and Blue might be pretty good. If you're hooked, we've still got half the season to go in Ko-oren. As in, actual cricket being played in a venue near you*? Sign me up!

In fact, they did. They signed me up, and getting paid for it. And you can pay to watch it! Or watch it on tv for free!

*if you're one of the 66,66% recurring majority of Ko-orenites living within a two-hour drive from one of the T20 or List A/First Class venues.

Shaky Mattijana Win World T20 Opener

Melbergia 153/7, Karamov 3-22
Mattijana 154-8, Žackov 59*

Mattijana limped over the line in the first match of their World T20 campaign as an unbeaten 59 from Marko Žackov anchored their chase against debutants Melbergia.

The more experienced outfit limited the newcomers to 154/7 on a good batting track in the first innings. Mattias Karamov took 3 of the Melbergian wickets as the top order struggled to deal with his changes of pace and both conventional and cross-seam bowling. Kasenka Riegler took 2 of the wickets whilst the others were mopped up by Daniella Johanovic and Fredi Glukspiel with one apiece.
With a decent job done in the field, it was time for the chase for the Mattijanan batsmen. Things got off to a fast start as Katarina Sava pumelled a couple of sixes down the ground before splicing a drive to backward point for 17. New man Marko Žackov was in more measured mood, tucking runs off his hip and chipping into the scoring with a few exquisite cover drives. Despite that, the middle order faltered. Benzenic holed out for only 7 runs whilst Fredi Glukspiel made a rapid-fire but short-lived 22.
Mattijana still needed another 40 to win when Ali Makarena came to the crease and although run-rate was not an issue, wickets might have been. Makarena steadied the ship with a calm and steady 24, but was inexplicably caught when trying to hoik a short ball into the stands.
Fortunately for Mattijana, Žackov was able to guide his team through the final few runs and although Karamov and Riegler fell, Johanovic hit the winning runs with a tickle off her hip for four.

The win, in particular the batting performance, was by no means a convincing one and although they remained well ahead of the rate, they flirted with being bowled out and lost wickets to poor shots at inopportune moments.

Man of the match Marko Žackov after the match:

"It's a great feeling to help the team to victory like that. I think we bowled well, but the batting certainly needs to be a lot more clinical in future games. It's something we'll work on mentally, it's just important for us to get out of our first game with a win and we'll be back against Eastfield Lodge looking for another one."
The socialist republic of Mattijana:
As if Austria, Slovenia, North-Eastern Europe and Sweden were merged together into some weird stew of a country.
through resilience, we are strong!

Three players of the Jhalpharezi Spice hung out in a Banijan hotel suite's central room. There were four small bedrooms attached. There was a large television, a full size refrigerator, an oven and a few other appliances. Om Banahatti, the fourth suitemate who was not currently present, had a wireless speaker dock and an MP3 player which took up space on a counter.

Chander Chadda, Harsha Datta and Rajinder Pandher sat on the L-shaped sectional which faced the large, flat screen TV. It was tuned to a Banijan sports channel. A recap/highlights show was on. An upcoming feature was set to look at the WT20C. Until then, the guys were chatting and joking.

Harsha had his phone out and was scrolling through an article from one of Jhalpharezi's major sports writers.

"The press is looking really good, bruddas", Datta said. "Things are going to be wild when we get home. Should be like our return from the Indian tournament."

Rajinder Pandher was the only bowler in the room. It made him a bit of an outcast, especially with Chadda and Datta being such good friends. Right away he spoke up, loudly. "This is NOT like the All India Cricket Blast. We have not won anything. Do not celebrate early, young Harsha."

Datta raised his hand, pointed finger stretching over his phone. "Do not lecture me, pops. The game is not just about winning. This is a gentlemen's game, aye? At least on this level. We've got to compete with our heads held high. That's all we have to do."

Chadda was quietly taking puffs from a vape pen, occasionally breathing out thick puffs of vapor. Inside of a red tube was an oil made from a blend of herbal extracts with therapeutic qualities. It helped him recover from workouts and soothed a few aches and pains. It also soothed his nerves.

Pandher continued, "Don't forget to chase the championship.. Still. None of us should fall into being content."

"That's what I said, Raj. To compete. That's what we have to do. That means give it 100 percent. You're trying to put words in my face."

Pandher stood and walked away, muttering under his breath about 'the content folk'.

Datta kept talking, focusing on his friend and ignoring the bowler. "Seriously, people are posting lots of comments. 30,000 to this article."

"People are going to really recognize us. I mean, things have become a lot more hectic since the AICB", Chadda said. "Some blogger stalked me and posted my routine. I had fans showing up when I went to the grocery store."

"That happened to me too", Datta said in a lie. He always wanted to be the star and there was no good reason why his friend should have a stalker first. "I mean, people recognized me before from city games. But not like this."

"Yeah, not like this", Chadda said before taking a long puff on his vape pen. "Not like this."

Slow wicket hampers Liventia as favourites struggle
TEZIRBU— Liventia got their World Twenty20 campaign off to a stuttering start, succumbing to a five-wicket defeat at the Tezirbu Cricket Ground.

The number-two-ranked side were put in to bat by West Phoenicia but struggled on a slow pitch, only managing 131 runs in their allotted overs. Frustrated by the lack of scoring opportunities in the first powerplay, the top order collapsed and Liventia found themselves 33 for four at the end of the six overs, before captain Ollie Kerr gained a grip against the West Phoenician bowling and counter-attacked.

Kerr hit seven fours and a six in a grand innings of 73 before he fell in the dying overs of the innings, with his side struggling home to an under-par total of 131.

"You know, on a normal day if you told me I'd get more than half the team's runs I'd be delighted with my contribution," Kerr told the host broadcaster at the innings break. "But we're going to have to bowl well out there now because West Phoenicia can't be underestimated. They're ninth in the world for a reason.

"I thought that pitch was not conducive to Twenty20 cricket, it was low and slow. Unfortunate, really, but we should still have got to 145 at least. We're going to have to play all our group games here so hopefully the next drop-in will be better."

The Raithwick Park all-rounder chipped in with two wickets but World Championship debutant Ruairidh MacMaster went for 35 from three overs, summing Liventia's performance up on the day.

Natanians and Nosts await the team next, with progression to the next round already on the line.

The West Phoenician Lightning Bolts are gearing up for match 4 where they will come up against
Natanians and Nosts. West Phoenicia returns after a bye on a 2 win streak hoping to make match 4 a win for them.
Natanians and Nosts sit in 4th place with 1 win and 2 loses which is giving the cricket team a glimmer of hope as the opposition sits in 12th place in overall rankings.

Team Coach Edward Mount-Alexander reported even though the team had a bye the day before, the team did not use it for a day of relaxation. The team went through their usual pace of morning exercises and an hour of swimming followed by a rigorous training of bowling and batting. Edward Mount-Alexander has high hopes the team will have a great performance tomorrow.

In other news involving The West Phoenician Lightning Bolts. Ms Gabriella Pascoe leader of the minor political party The Feminist Party of West Phoenicia who while they have no members in Congress plan to field candidates at the next election have slammed the men's cricket team for accepting sponsorship from Titania Fragrances who Ms Pascoe cites objectifies women in their print campaign and advertisement.
Ms Pascoe has called on the West Phoenician Cricket Federation to drop the sponsor.

Mattijana Edge Out Eastfield Lodge In Thriller

Mattijana 162/2 (20.0 overs), Sava 73, Žackov 51*
Eastfield Lodge 161/7 (20.0 overs) Riegler 2-27

Mattijana earned their rest day at the T20 World Cup in Banija after a hard-fought game against Eastfield Lodge went down to the wire.
Batting first, Mattijana set an imposing total of 162 as despite being tied down early on, an abundance of wickets in hand allowed them to accelerate late on. Katarina Sava scored 73 before holing out at long-on with three overs to go. Martin Žackov was also key, keeping the scoring rate ticking over in the early stages after the dismissal of Julian Illicic for 14.
That would eventually prove crucial as it allowed both the team and players to get runs on the board, frustrating a howling attack who despite not conceding big totals, were always vulnerable to a big attack at the back end of the innings.
That came in the last 10 overs too. Sava began to hold the strike, pumelling fours and sixes down the ground before eventually skying one to long-on. The new batter Jelena Laramazic was in no mood to hang around though with cover behind her and she went big too, hitting 20 off only 7 balls including 2 sixes and a four. Žackov also got into the act and got his half century with the last ball of the innings as he scythed a cut shot through backwards point for four. Having only registered 61 off the first 10 overs, the Mattijanans notched up 101 in the second half of their innings.
The team had done a good job with the bat, but against an Eastfield Lodge team ranked 5th in the world and first in group E, it would still be tough to defend.
So it remained after the first few overs as the openers for Eastfield Lodge kept up with the rate and seemed to have acclimatised to some probing Mattijanan bowling. Kasenka Riegler hit back with some extra pace though, getting one to nip back and clatter the pad of the batter for a plum LBW.
The wicket was a set-back for the pre-match favourites and further wickets to Daniella Johanovic and 2 for Mattias Googlov kept the momentum with the hosts. A counter-attack followed though and with 4 overs to go, Eastfield Lodge needed another 34 to win.
Fortunately, Mattijana's opening bowlers had two overs each remaining and would use them. Mattias Karamov struck first with a cross deam delivery hopping up off the pitch and taking a top edge through to Ali Makarena. Riegler snared another with a miscue to mid on and Karamov would have the final say as despite a 6 leaving Eastfield Lodge needing two to win off the final ball, the Mattijanan captain bowled a perfect yorker that the batter could only inside edge onto the timbers.

The match represented Mattijana's toughest group stage match on paper, but the Kiaser Colonies are up next and will also present a stern challenge. The world's 15th-ranked side top the group after three games after sneaking a tie with Eastfield Lodge.
Mattijana are the only side remaining with a 100% record however and will be favourites to extend that tonight.
The socialist republic of Mattijana:
As if Austria, Slovenia, North-Eastern Europe and Sweden were merged together into some weird stew of a country.
through resilience, we are strong!

Jhal Fans For International Teams?

With Jhalpharezi off for Match Day 4, the attention of their fans will be cast internationally. This will be the best time for global teams to make an impact on Jhal fans. With the sport having such a rabid following in the region of India, especially in Jhalpharezi, this could be a good or bad thing.

Teams could sell merchandise or broadcast rights within the Bengali nation. Besides profitable ventures, it could also bring plenty of attention and fans to teams mainly relegated to their nation's elite. Companies would also look to get involved, with advertising relevant if Jhal networks can secure broadcast rights. This means Jhal companies would look to purchase ad space on stadium grounds in suitable markets, ranging from banners to digital signs.

Of course, other Indian teams have a prominent audience in Jhalpharezi. Azadeshia is fresh off of an impressive win over T20 stalwart Lisander. New Doltania edged out Vakolicci Haven and Celeria. Northwest Kalactin finished with a narrow victory over Jhalpharezi. It would definitely make NKO the rival nation for the moment.

The nation which has had the second highest broadcast viewership numbers across Jhalpharezi is the Esportivan nation of Mattijana. The Indian fans can appreciate the style and class of the 10th ranked side. Manager Indranil Barkat explained the support for the Mattijanan side best.

"Mattijana represents the program we hope to build with our national team. The fans can see it and furthermore, they demand it."

Matchday 3 provided a slew of close games. Viewership is expected to be high once again as the World Twenty20 Championship has proved to be an exciting product in Jhal markets.

Cricket Hooligans Riot in Mahidisi

Image

Within a half hour of the close result between Northwest Kalactin and Jhalpharezi, fans took to the streets. They hung around in large mobs, shouting and approaching anybody who wore a Northwest Kalactin jersey. One group formed on Karalang street.

Things took a turn for the worse about an hour after the game, when the Karalang mob blocked the road. Groups surrounded several cars. People started to smash the glass as the occupants yelled in terror. Drivers of other vehicles fled, leaving their vehicles to the rioters. These cars would be flipped on their side after their glass was also broken.

132 people were arrested throughout Mahidisi. 42 people were inured. Police helicopters flew overhead as police dispersed fans in riot gear and armored personnel carriers.

The fans had gathered in the downtown district's sports bars to watch the match. The event shows the 'cricket hooligan' is alive and well in Jhalpharezi.

Newcomers, Shocks and Sixes Light Up Banija

The Group Stage of the tenth World T20 Championship in Banija is nearly over, but with only one round of fixtures to come, some real surprises have been thrown up and there is potential for plenty more to dominate the final day's play in what has so far been a fascinating tournament.
The shock elimination of Liventia is one of the biggest talking points after the first 4 matchdays. The world's second-ranked team are unlikely to stay in that position after losing their first three games in group C. Elsewhere, the arrival of a new Cricketing powerhouse could be on the cards-not without an element of controversy, and some brilliant matches have been played out on the pitch itself.

Big names set for early bath

T20 has a reputation for being the most unpredictable form of the game, but the elimination of some of the sport's biggest heavyweights at the first hurdle has surprised even the most open-minded fans. 2nd-ranked Liventia are the highest-ranked casualty of the group stage having collapsed to 3 defeats out of 3. The team have struggled with slow pitches in Tezirbu, but can surely have no complaints about defeats to Natanians and Nosts and a crushing loss to Lisander in which their opponents knocked off a sub-par total in just over 14 overs.
The side are arguably missing star batsman and former captain Max Finney who has retired from T20 and one-day games in order to persue his test cricket career, but the poor perfomances have been worse than expected, particular a bowling attack that has looked prehistoric compared to the high-variety lineups shown elsewhere. Meanwhile in the batting, Ollie Kerr has been the only player who has looked up to the task, but with little support he has been unable to make his mark. The Liventians are braced for a heavy slide down the rankings and will need to make a quick improvement if they are to make a come-back at the next event.

Liventia are not the only established team struggling however. 12th ranked Damukuni are the other side officially eliminated, but 5th-ranked Eastfield Lodge look to be joining them after defeat to Mattijana and a tie with the table-topping Kiaser Colonies. In addition, top-ranked Elejamie are relying on heavy defeats for both Jhalpharezi and the U.S of Devonta if they are to progress and so will likely be heading home. 6th-ranked Apox and 11th-ranked Ethane are also in trouble. Having lost 4 games between them in groups A and B.

The losses will make for an interesting divisional stage and potentially finals and there are opportunities for many a side to launch themslelves up the rankings. One of those groups of teams may come from a seemingly unlikely source as well.

India Set For World Domination?

Maybe not. Heavyweights such as Ko-oren and Barunia and the up and coming nations such as West Phoencia, Mattijana and the Kiaser Colonies remain in the tournament and will now be even hungrier for success. However the unranked nations have made more of a mark than expected, particularly those from the region of India.
Northwest Kalactin have been especially impressive. The team have won all three of their group match games including against Damukuni and Elejamie, and have been excellent with ball and bat, carting the world number 1s for 195 and conceding only 113 in reply.
Fellow Group D side Jhalpharezi have also looked in good touch. They triumphed against Damukuni in impressive fashion, as well as a high scoring thriller against the United States Of Devonta in which they chased 203 with 4 balls to spare.
Jhalpharezi have also developed an unlikely admiration for Mattijanan Cricket. Head coach Indranil Barkat said that Mattijana had emulated the national programme that Jhalpharezi hope to create. That admiration seems to have been re-payed in curiosity from the Mattijanan audience who have been impressed by the explosive nature of the Jhal batting.
Some of the morals of the Jhalpharezi crowd may be questioned however. A riot in Mahidisi after the victory terrorised Northwest Kalactin fans and the reports of hoolaganism will further spice up the coverage back home.

Divisional Stage Shaping Up Nicely

Mattijana will progress to the 10 team divisional stage should they beat bottom side the Land of Id in their final group stage fixture. The Kiaser Colonies are guaranteed to top group E after beating the Matti.
In group D, Northwest Kalactin are heavy favourites to top the group, whilst a three-way tussle between Jhalpharezi, Elejamie and the United States of Devonta will decide who gets second.

Lisander and Azadeshia will contest for second place in group C. West Phoencia are two points clear at the top currently, but are not yet guaranteed a place in the final 10.

Group B is a more even affair. All teams have mathematical hope of progress, but Ko-oren and Juvenis are the sides in pole-position with a game in hand on table toppers Darmen. 4 points is unlikely to be enough for progress, but with Apox lying in wait for Juvenis, they may still fancy their chances.
Group A will also be a thriller on the final day. All 4 teams have 4 points, but with Ethane having played out, they are probably going to be eliminated. Barunia are favourites to progress as group winners as they face face winless Vakolicci Haven and Celeria on the final day.
The socialist republic of Mattijana:
As if Austria, Slovenia, North-Eastern Europe and Sweden were merged together into some weird stew of a country.
through resilience, we are strong!

Spice Painted Into A Corner

Fans of the Jhalpharezi Spice tuned in for other international games with their team off for Matchday 4. Jhalpharezi did well to stay competitive up to this point. Group D's two matches would garner the highest ratings, with the outcome of those matches playing a role in the Spice's chance for advancement.

The most surprising match was between Northwest Kalactin and Elejamie. The Indian side went on to put up one of the best score lines of MD4. Northwest Kalactin was fresh off the waves of topping Jhalpharezi during their prior match. The Spice had expected Elejamie to win and help Jhalpharezi move closer to the top ranking. Instead, NKO pulled off the upset in dominant fashion.

Devonta went on to beat Damukuni, placing Devonta on the Spice's heels. Advancement will hinge on the last match before the divisional round. Northwest Kalactin will face Devonta. A loss from NKO might hurt Jhalpharezi's odds for advancement.

The Spice will have to face one last, major obstacle. They'll face the side from Elejamie, the #1 team in global rankings.

"Facing the number one side in the multiverse is an honor", said batsman Chander Chadda. "This experience will teach our program a lot. Us bats will hope to step up against their bowling."

A loss to Elejamie could put the Spice's chance for advancement in jeopardy, especially if Devonta wins.

"For an unranked side on it's first campaign, I cannot complain", said Manager Indranil Barkat. "We beat two very talented teams and made a serious push towards the next round. There's still the chance we can advance. If this is the starting part for Jhal cricket, we will do even better as we grow."

The team will hope to bring it all together at least one last time. Batsmen and bowlers would need to come together in a big way to win this match.

4 Elejamie 4 1 0 3 2 -1.086
5 Damukuni 4 0 0 4 0 -0.566

There was a three way tie for 1st place in Group D. As the first tiebreaker(head-to-head wins) could not separate the tied teams(as they all beat each other once and lost to each other once), and the second tiebreaker(total wins- each had 3) could not separate the tied teams, Net Run Rate was used to separate the top 3 sides, and the top two teams by Net Run Rate advanced.
