National Information

The Kingdom of Banija is a country that classifies itself as a semi-constitutional monarchy. A nation that is freshly a member of Atlantian Oceania, it is led by the Kabaka(which translates to King), and the current monarch is Kabaka Albert III. The Kabaka, alongside with the Waziri(translates to Foreign Minister), whom he picks and dismisses solely at his pleasure, is the Head of State and responsible for the country's foreign affairs.

The Lukiiko(translates to Parliament) is a democratically-elected, constituency-based, first past the post, legislature that has the power of the purse and controls all legislative affairs for the country. The Lukiiko, every term, elects the Katikkiro(Prime Minister), who picks a cabinet and leads the government. Racially, the nation is 93.2% black. This is a very religious based Christian nation, as 87% of Banijans are affiliated with the state church, the Puritan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, whose followers are called Puritan Mormons. Shia Islam is the next largest religious community at 9% of the national population. The Guardian Council, a council of 6 members, with 3 picked by the Kabaka from the House of Katende(the royal house), and 3 picked by the Church, has the ability to oppose laws based on religious grounds. It takes a 5-1 majority on the Guardian Council to reject any bill passed by the Lukiiko.

Due to the massive influence of Puritan Mormonism in this nation, they are relatively socially conservative. Abortion in this country is outlawed unless the mother's life is in danger, and the church's Universal Call to Motherhood, which teaches that the destiny of each and every woman is to give birth to children and raise faithful Puritan Mormons, has heavily shaped the nation's view on the role of women in society. Therefore, it is against the law for any professional sports teams based in Banija to have men and women on the team. However, this law only applies to teams based in Banija, which is why it is perfectly legal when foreign-based teams, either for away games or when Banija hosts tournaments, to have people of any gender. Meaning that the ban on co-ed sports does not apply at this tournament, except for the Banijan team itself. Consumption of alcohol and the recreation use of marijuana in Banija is legal.

Of course, Banija is a 3rd world country by modern economic standards. A general lack of development in Banija, we are a country with excellent sporting infrastructure, but little else. Most roads are dirt, and while public transit within cities is excellent(thanks to the RTC!), between cities it is not. The climate of Banija has a lot of natural rainforest and jungle, which means that there is no winter, only wet season and dry season. Temperatures generally range at their coldest around 60 degrees farenheit, and at their hottest around 110 degrees farenheit. For the duration of the tournament, average high temperatures will range from 60 to 85 degrees farenheit.

Stadium Info

Capacity of 33,000. Located in Herzegovina City, Moravica
A specialty lacrosse stadium, it was built at the cost of $115 million NSDs, and funded by the local government. The Herzegovina City Kings, Banija's most popular lacrosse team, play their home games at this stadium. It is Banija's largest lacrosse-specific stadium. It is named after Kizza I, the first chief of the Kisanke, and who's direct descendants would eventually become the Kings of Banija.

Final

Northern Moravica Lacrosse Arena
Image
Capacity of 4,500. Located on the Northern Moravica University campus in Herzegovina City, Moravica, Banija
Banija's first lacrosse stadium was built on the campus of Northern Moravica University. It is hosting games not because of it's size, as it is easily the smallest stadium on this list, but it's role in the history of Banijan lacrosse. This is the facility the national team uses to make camp before major tournaments, and where college lacrosse used to have their annual championship game. It is called the "spiritual home" of Banijan lacrosse.
Matches hosted here:
Juvencus vs. Banija for Matchday 3.
1 Round of 16 matchup.

Bwubanza City Park
Image
Capacity of 40,000, located in Bwubanza City, in the Bunyoro Region

This is the stadium of relative BSL newcomers Bwubanza City. One of Banija's larger stadiums, seating 40,000, it is also the smallest stadium being used in the tournament. It is the one city that teams want to avoid, as heavy rains seem to hit the area, alongside plenty of humidity. It is hard to keep your energy up here, but as Banija wanted to 'spread the wealth' geographically, this stadium was chosen to host group stage matches.

Matches Hosted Here
All Group B matches for matchdays 1 and 2.
Azurirbajan vs. Cosumar on Matchday 3.
Bortonania vs. Abanhfleft on Matchday 3.
1 Round of 16 match.

PG Arena
Image
Capacity of 44,500, located in the City of Hoima, in the Ankole Region.

Hangaza Unified Stadium
Image
Capacity of 55,000, located in the City of Aissa, in the Hangaza Region.

Hangaza Unified Stadium is the 2nd largest soccer stadium in the Kingdom of Banija, and it is the largest stadium in use that has a full-time club tenant, who is Aissa United. One of two stadiums in the country with a regular seating capacity of over 50,000 people, this stadium promises to attract a lot of supporters. It is located in the City of Aissa, which has a population of 477,000. People from all over the Hangaza region will come to this stadium however, and the City itself is a major tourist attraction for foreigners.

Amazonesta vs. Qasden.
1 Round of 16 match.

Mugisha III Memorial Stadium
Image
Capacity of 49,000, located in Busukuma, National Capitol Region.

Mugisha III Memorial Stadium is a brand new stadium built for this tournament and for Banijan Soccer League expansion team, the Busukuma Force. Named after the recently deceased former sovereign, it is one of the largest stadiums in the nation. It is the most modern, as it is brand new for an expansion team, and the stadium will host the majority of matches played in the Capitol City. They will host group stage matches throughout the tournament. The City of Busukuma is coterminous with the National Capitol Region, and it is, of course, the Capitol city of Banija. The city has 2 million residents, and the city's residents are excited for this tournament.

Matches Hosted Here:
All Group E matches for Matchdays 1 and 2.
Huri de Wintre vs. Asiana on Matchday 3.
West Phoenicia vs. Wrexwic on Matchday 3.

Kabonero III Field
Image
Capacity of 48,000, located in Istria, Moravica.

This is the largest city in the entire Kingdom of Banija, with 3 million residents. Moravica has long been a distinct region of Banija, and while football is definitely & certainly king in this region, soccer is still watched by quite a few people. Banija's largest airport is in this city, so it could not be denied. This stadium is also brand new, built for Istria City FC, who have new, high-spending owners.

Matches
All Group F matches for matchdays 1 and 2
Maryloupe vs. New West Guiana on Matchday 3.
1 Round of 16 match.
One Quarterfinal

Stadium of the Restoration
Image
Capacity of 69,000, located in Busukuma, National Capitol Region

This is the national stadium. Multiple national teams, including gridiron football and the national soccer team, make their regular home at this stadium. It will host the opening & closing ceremonies of the tournament, which means that the opening match(Banija's first game) shall be played in this stadium, as well as other mathces. This was the location of all of Banija's home World Cup qualifiers, and is easily the largest outdoor stadium in the country.

Matches
St. Saratoga vs. United Celtic Peoples on Matchday 3.
South Toronto vs. United States of Devonta on Matchday 3.

We would like to withdraw from this tournament. Sorry for any inconvenience.
2nd place finish in BoF 66. There's more to come! Hopefully..
Your young don from Southwest London and I bang out 410, AM Skengdo, 1011 and a host of UK drill artists. You probably thought I was Canadian 'cause of my nation's name and flag, but I am actually Ugandan and I live in London.
Hosted the inaugural STIC, and a domestic newswire up and running. They will be a few more soon...
And remember guys, Toronton is Singular, South Toronton is an Adjective, and Torontons is Plural! Also, the USST is an abbreviation of Unified Socialist States of South Toronto, and apart from marijuana and abortion being legal, and our environmental policies, in no way does this nation reflect my RL views.

Cosumar National Lacrosse Team - WLC XXVIII
Roster and Information
Image

Basic Team Information

Nation - The Fiefdom of Cosumar

Team Name - Azure Dragons

Demonym - Cosumarite

Team Colors - Navy, Silver, Royal Blue, White

Headquarters - Centus, Gellano Fief, Cosumar

Home Stadium - CosumaQuest Stadium (68,000)

Team Style - Highly Offensive (for IC purposes)

Experience - Cosumar debuted in WLC 8 and twenty editions later we now find ourselves in WLC 28. We have since built a reputation as one of the premier lacrosse nations in multiverse, due to our strong domestic league (the CLL) and eight total WLC medals. Cosumar won back-to-back WLC titles in the 20th and 21st editions but crashed out early in WLC 22. They bounced back to claim a silver medal in WLC 23, a bronze in WLC 24 and finally another gold in WLC 26. Last time around, however we lost to Qasden in the Quarterfinals, and will now be looking to get back to medal-winning ways. A ninth overall medal or fourth gold in WLC 28 would be an all-time record. Lacrosse was an obscure sport in Cosumar 30+ years ago, but has since risen rapidly to become the fourth spectator sport here behind only association and gridiron football, and basketball. Cosumar has also hosted the tournament in the past.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL LACROSSE TEAM

This will be Abanhfleft's seventh time participating in the World Lacrosse Championship. For reasons that can be simply summed up as "it's the best thing we've done in a while," the Democratic Republic is sending forth their women's national lacrosse team once again. The women's team, led by the "Fearsome Threesome" of Menan Alrisheb, Fatima Alsambis, and Cecilia Cuvimi, managed to win third place in their first ever tournament WLC XIX, beating the Serbian Empire to nab the bronze from under the veteran nation's noses. They went on to win back-to-back titles in WLC 22 and WLC 23 before a miserable performance in WLC 24 saw them eliminated in the group stage, but they have come back to win it all once again in WLC 25 to set history as the first nation to win three titles in four attempts. This women's team is different from the other women's lacrosse teams because they are trained in men's lacrosse rules, the reasons why will be explained in the history spoiler below.

The history of lacrosse in Abanhfleft is both long and short, in that it has been in the country for a long time, but a concise summary of said history can be written down in just ten to fifteen sentences or maybe more. Lacross was introduced in Abanhfleft by vacationing Canadian college students and expatriates who missed playing the game. The first truly Fleftic lacrosse players came from association football and field hockey backgrounds, and these players played in seasonal lacrosse clubs to augment their salaries during their respective sports' offseasons. The first national lacrosse league in Abanhfleft was established in 1929, and was composed of 7 teams coming from the Capital Islands. The Fleftic national lacrosse league system adopted its current promotion-and-relegation format in 1951, with the National League (now called the Lacrosse Premier League) at the top of the pyramid. The Fleftic Lacrosse Federation (Flefteikor' Fidourhat'she ob Lakros or FFoL) was established in 1930 to manage the leagues, and to see to the creation of a national team. The Abanhfleft men's national lacrosse team played its first game in 1931, where they lost 1-0 to a team of Montreal college players.

1963 saw the first attempts to introduce women's lacrosse into Abanhfleft. Women's lacrosse had vastly different rules from men's lacrosse, and while these programs saw some success in the mid-sixties, Fleftic women decided that the rules of women's lacrosse were "too soft," and simply adopted the rules of men's lacrosse. When the women's national lacrosse team played its first games in 1969, they surprised many other teams with their extremely aggressive style of play, the likes of which were more usually seen in men's lacrosse games. This led to many incidents of broken legs, broken arms, broken ribs, broken jaws, and so on and so forth. Eventually, the FFoL established another women's team, this one focusing on women's lacrosse rules. Teams playing Abanhfleft are well-advised to treat the women like men because the girls will certainly treat their opponents like Fleftic men.

They also won the last two World Lacrosse Championships, and they tried going for a third straight title, but a limp performance in the group stage of WLC 24 resulted in them going out on said stage. Now they're back for the silver edition of the World Lacrosse Championships hoping to come back stronger than ever. Can they do it, now that the Fearsome Threesome have all decided to retire from international lacrosse at the same time, or can they only somehow sink even deeper?

Head Coach: Watch this space

Assistant Coach - Tactics: Tim Blyther (48)
Blyther is an Australian who played lacrosse in Abanhfleft's Lacrosse Premier League for almost fifteen years, eventually retiring in 2009 with five championships under his belt. Blyther is also a fan of association football, and was the mastermind of adapting some of that's sports tactics into lacrosse, and this combination of lacrosse and football helped lead the Releinthi Fighting Sticks to three consecutive championships in the Lacrosse Premier League. Being the inventor and innovator of FootCrosse (the combination of football and lacrosse tactics), Blyther was invited by the FFoL to be both national teams' tactics coach, but this will be the first time that FootCrosse will be seen on the world stage, and how Abanhfleft will perform in this tournament will determine the viability of FootCrosse on the international lacrosse scene.

Assistant Coach - Training: Chan Lua (62)
A popular aerobics instructor back in the 1980s, Chan Lua was hired by the FFoL in 2012 for a yearly salary of 2 million new penenks, one of the largest yearly salaries ever in the federation. Lua's job will be to increase and enhance the players' fitness levels. Lua's hiring, which had been a controversial decision at the time, eventually paid off when both national teams' starting lineups lasted much longer on the field than their opponents. Observers keen to gauge this side will look to Lua's contributions to the effectiveness of the national side. In his spare time, when he is not the fitness coach of the Fleftic women's national lacrosse team, he is the fitness coach of the Fhulghamous Peninsula national football team.

Colors: All white with blue, orange, and green stripes on the waistline and yellow numbers in a red circle (home kit); all red with yellow letters and numbers (away kit)
Style: Abanhfleft is an attacking team. The legacy of football and hockey players dabbling in lacrosse in its early days in Abanhfleft has resulted in a playing style that emphasizes getting the ball up front for chances to score. This, however, leaves the defense a bit thin, as at least two midfielders join the attackers in forays up to the goal, leaving behind only the defenders and the keeper. The midfield makes up for this by rushing back to their positions as soon as the opponents have acquired the ball.

HOME STADIUM
Image
The Imponte Garden in Kammala, Garufaloe Province, home of the Garufaloe Cobras of the FNLAF, will be playing host to the Fleftic national lacrosse team's home matches. It has an official capacity of 51,000 people, and while attendance regularly exceeds that figure thanks to a rabid fanbase for American football, and people prefer to stand up or sit on the stairs whenever capacity is filled, the organizers are not sure if this capacity will be filled for lacrosse matches, as it simply does not have the same pull as American football, association football, or even rugby union.

Banija prepares for WLCs on home soil; can they finally win it?

Image
An ongoing practice at the pre WLC camp before the start of the World Lacrosse Championships

HERZEGOVINA CITY- The Banijan national lacrosse team is making camp at their traditional place, of the Northern Moravica University campus, in Herzegovina City. 23 other teams have descended on Banija to play in lacrosse's greatest competition- the World Lacrosse Championships. The championships have been a scene of upsets, of dominance, of glory, of frustration, of blood, sweat and tears, of unbridled joy and of crushing loss. It has been everything and more to Banijan lacrosse fans, but now, the tournament is being brought home. For the first time, Banijans will host a major international tournament, and it has interest and excitement for the sport up in all parts of the country.

Banija has quite a history at the World Lacrosse Championships. They have been to six editions of this tournament, attending every edition from the 21st to the 26th. Banija, due to a financial crisis that hit many of Banija's professional sporting organizations, tried to cobble a team together for the 27th World Lacrosse Championships, but once it was realized they could not pay anybody, they had to disband. The Association had ran a foul of the Olympic Committee's rules.

But, now they're back. The 21st World Lacrosse Championships was the first tournament ever where Banija sent a national team. Lacrosse exploded onto the local scene during that tournament. While many people barely understood lacrosse, it became a point of national pride to watch that newcomer cinderella dance through that tournament. They defeated a top 5 Nassau-Hessen team in the quarterfinals, and a 13-4 win over the host nation in the semifinals set them on a path to play in the final of their first ever tournament. However, Cosumar, then the world's sole pre-eminent lacrosse power, defeated the Banijans in the final. Still, a good start. A trip to the final in their first ever tournament? This team's expectations were through the roof, and the country was firmly behind their squad when it came to the next edition. This was a tournament that they could win.

Of course, winning at this level is extremely difficult. Who would've known that their trip to the final in their first ever tournament would be their only trip ever to the final of the WLCs, over 20 years later? Yet, of course, here we are. It was the rise of one nation in the 22nd World Lacrosse Championships that firmly pushed Banija out of the way, a team that many observers considered to be Banija's best squad, the WLC 22 squad. Abanhfleft defeated Banija in WLC 22 twice in Istria, and once more in the semifinals of that tournament on neutral ground.

Banija got a Round of 16 elimination in WLC 23 at the hands of Nassau-Hessen, a quarterfinal elimination in WLC 24 at the hands of Cosumar(again), and in WLC 25, they finally went back to the semifinal. Of course, in that tournament, they faced Abanhfleft in the semifinal, and they lost once again to Abanhfleft. In WLC 26, of course, what many consider to have been Banija's worst squad ,they were eliminated easily in the Round of 16 by the United States of Devonta, a traditional sporting rival of Banija.

Their 6 tournaments, of course, were an excellent run- their first 6 trips to the tournament, they reached the knockout stage in all 6? And, of course, a victory in the Champions Challenge Cup after the 25th WLCs, as well as a victory by a Banijan club in the IDLO Champions Cup, have raised the expectations of this squad. There is enough lacrosse talent in this country for Banija to not be satisfied with knockout stage exits. They have to expect to win this tournament. On home soil as well, there is no excuse. They will have home support.

Who is Banija turning to this time around? Pavle Yankovich, who coached the squad for their last 3 appearances in the WLCs, is out. He could not win the tournament, and therefore, had to exit. Dejan Polek was not available after two trips to the semifinals in WLCs 21 & 22. Now, of course, they hired the ever popular Marko Babic. A Banijan lacrosse legend, he is widely considered to be the best player ever to put on a Banijan lacrosse uniform. He coached the Istria Thunder to a 2nd place finish in the Moravica Conference this past season, flipping their record from 5-9 to 9-5. And now, put in charge of the national team, the pressure is massive.

He himself has played in three WLCs. He has played in a tournament final. He understands pressure. He understands the big moment. He should be able to reach out to the players. This squad he has chosen is loaded with many veterans, with only 2 out of the 24 players under the age of 24. And the youngest player, of course, being age 22. Of course, his oldest player is also 34. But that being said, there is not much youth on this team, meaning that he's going for a win now mentality. He has been criticized in different quarters for not calling up enough youth players, saying that he is 'not doing his job' to engage in the country's lacrosse future.

However, this is the team he has. His son, last season's leading scorer in the BLL, Marko Babic Jr., will be leading the Banijan attack. Veteran Cyrus Bell, who will be playing in his 4th tournament, debuting at the 24th WLCs, will be on his right side. He is seen as the key cog in this attack, and the team's leader. Even as Taji Adhama is the team captain, Cyrus Bell has experienced many tournaments. While the team is weak in the defense, they will be hoping to score plenty of goals to please their fans.

The Banijans will be playing all their group stage home games in Herzegovina City, which was also a very controversial decision by tournament organizers. Tournament organizers wanted to limit the travel for the group stage, with each group being assigned a city for matchdays one and two. Matchday 3, of course, that is impossible because group stage matches are played at the same time in each group, so that will not happen. The controversy, of course, was that Banijans outside of Moravica may not get an opportunity to see the team play at all. However, the cost savings of limiting group stage travel have won the day, as it will be easier for both security officials and on the nation. They have also said it will be easier on foreign fans, whose travel throughout Banija will be limited, and therefore, it will be cheaper for them to attend.

Ultimately, we are not sure how the Banijan squad will do. A top 6 nation, they were guaranteed pot 1 because of their host status. And, of course, we have not seen them play an international match in 6 years, when they were unceremoniously knocked out in the Round of 16 of the 26th World Lacrosse Championships. It will be hard to get a read on them until they play their first game, when they play tournament newcomer New Doltania. After the first round of matches, Banijans will be in much better shape to get a read on this team, and whether or not they'll get an early knockout stage drop out, or whether they're actually capable of putting the type of run necessary to hoist the trophy at Kizza I Field at the end of the tournament.

In the meantime, we'll have to wait and see. Go Banija!

Vangaziland Prepares

Image

On the day before matchday, the Vangaziland Royals practiced for game 1 of the World Lacrosse Championships. This was officially the country's national sport, even with the recent popularity of and success in international basketball. It was something that the players and coaches of the Vannish national team understood or realized.

"If we want to keep our lacrosse league competitive, we'll need to keep improving our international product", said Coach Hootsen. "We've done well to get into the top 15. We can stand to do better. I told my guys, this is the year for our run."

Vannish lacrosse is one of the most exciting teams in international lacrosse. They definitely have a style of play, one which revolves around fast breaks and "The X".

Ground ball skills and tight passing are premium skills the group focuses on. The team which was once young and spry is now full of veterans. Look for Carrs to be the engine, moving the ball up and down the field at breakneck speeds. Tony Tute is still the largest attackman. Expect him to move around the X, crossing from side to side or popping out for a shot to confuse defenders.

"The X" is the position behind the net. Having a player sneak to the back of the goal throws a major monkey wrench into zone defense and also spreads open man-to-man posturing. This really helps for fast breaks or man down situations.

For the practice before Match Day 1, the team followed an extra-long stretching session with a run around the track. The players would jog the curves of the track and then sprint the long stretch. They'd then cool down while jogging the next curve. Four repetitions of this was a light workout, for some practices they'd do 8.

The team then ran through drill lines, focusing on passing and ground balls. They then ran a few scenarios and walkthroughs. It would be a short practice. It was mostly to warm up and get used to the warmer climate. The team skipped scrimmages.

The temperatures across Vangaziland currently ranged from 11 to 41 degrees Fahrenheit in the warmer Eastern provinces. For much of the group stage, Vangaziland was playing in one of the warmest and most humid parts of Banija. 60F wasn't too bad, but a humid 80F would be rough. Rain wouldn't be a concern, because recreational Vannish lacrosse makes a habit of playing in light snow.

6'6 defender Lars Swenson recently answered a question on what made him choose lacrosse over basketball or gridiron. "It's physical and dynamic. It's more popular than gridiron here. Passing and catching came natural to me and shoulder tackling was pretty simple. But it's still challenging. I'm glad to hold down the center."

Vangaziland is coming into this year aggressively, having changed several formations and plays to be more offensive.

"Goals. That's what we need. We've held some teams back in the past. But we've had tough times outscoring the top teams", said Coach Hootsen. "The bottom line is effort. We need to play our brand of lacrosse."

The Royals will look to put forth their best performance for Match Day One.

The West Phoenician Daredevils had a shocking start to the World Lacrosse Championships losing by one point against new and lackluster team South Toronto.
The Daredevils took the field hoping for a first game victory and for an easy match against a new team that appeared disorganized.
The assumption of an easy win was early shattered as the game was neck and neck for the entire game until the last 5 minutes when South Toronto scored a goal that left Goalkeeper Skipper Brisbane with a sprained ankle and team West Phoenicia unable to to gain a foothold back into the game.
The end result for game 1 was 9-10, leaving West Phoenicia at the bottom of the grouping.

Northwest kalactin players looking for win

Image

Well Northwest kalactin played a good game yesterday although giving up 17 Points they knew it would be a tough game but it was against the best team in the world it’s not like we would beat them their really good, Northwest kalactanian players are looking forward to rebound after their loss and they have a game against Bortonania today they obviously don’t want to lose because if Northwest kalactin is going to lose we lose against number 1 bortonania is okay I guess that really don’t have much info about their team or even who’s on their team if Northwest kalactin can win games against Natanians and nosts and Bortonania then we could have a chance to win the group a lot of stuff would have to happen to have that but it is possible.

Tony Tute Scores Six

One thing seems certain after Match Day 1 of the World Lacrosse Championships. Vangaziland is not mailing in any effort during the 28th edition of the tourney. They put up a caricature of a score-line against a team that just wasn't prepared. Coach Hootsen said before the game, "the Royals are hungry. We've put in the groundwork and established a program over the past few years. I told them, this is our year for a run."

"Every team says it's their year", said Tute in his post game interview. "But we have momentum. It's electric. Our goal on the attack line is just to have a good season. Just like each season in the past, we want to play our brand of lacrosse."

The team sported new formations and plays. Tute played more up top than behind the goal. The wing players spent time changing from right to left. When defenders would play zone and let them switch, they'd cut up from X, timed for a pass. Tute totaled an assist on a pass that looked like he shot, but was timed on another's run up the middle.

"Pressure on the keeper", said Will Rubey, that goal's scorer. "That's the flavor of the month. A blizzard is made up of a ton of flurries."

The chart was ridiculous with multiple players scoring hat tricks. Substitutions were done in line format, usually 2 at a time on the same line. This led to a lot of aggressive shooting as players were well rested. They came in running hard too and seemed to wear down the new team.

"They just got caught off guard", Coach Hootsen said. "It's the kind of game new teams have to experience. That's all."

Vangaziland is only ranked 13th in the world, which is a solid rank, but far from a top team.

"We just wanted it", said 6'6 defender Lars Swenson. Swenson led the Royals in tackles, trying his best to lock down the middle of the field. "The real challenge will come against ranked teams and we look forward to them."

Tony Tute scored a double hat trick with 6 goals, 2 of which were on plays from the X. Jake Carrs had 4. Will Rubey, Mike Grensen and Erik Schotta had 3. Dunbork and Libberson rounded out the scorers with one each.

The Vangaziland Royals look to face their toughest test, as they face the number 2 ranked team of Cosumar in a battle for Group B.

Wrexwic, an island 500 miles east of mainland Vangaziland made its WLC debut in an exciting match that went into overtime. The nation has just started its foray into the international sporting arena in general, appearing in the AVBF rugby 7's tournament.

"We're a new program with a young team", said Coach Jacob Daly. "This team is designed to get better over the next few years. We want them to grow and mature together. The world's tallest oak once started from a sapling that held its place."

Wrexwic is a place without many of the luxuries which exist in Vangaziland. Athlete salaries in pro leagues are fairly low, as sports are seen as more of a recreational thing. The exception to this is basketball, as the VannPro Basketball League has an entire conference based in Wrexwic. Still, Vangazi manage the VPBL. A few prominent Wrex do own teams domestically and abroad. But the standard of living is lower than most first world countries.

Some areas of the nation would qualify as third world, although constant Vannish support improves the quality of life. It's unofficially referred to within the Empire as a Second World nation.

Unlike Vangaziland, which focuses on the area behind the goal to time cutting, the Wrex like to set screens and run plays from tight, confusing jumbles. The strategy seemed to work at first, with Wrexwic eventually answering every goal scored during the regular time. It was a game of runs, with either team scoring 2 or 3 goals in succession.

Glover Webb is a 6'2 attackman who loves to set screens and roll from them in similar plays to basketball. His shot is dynamic, meaning he can change the form, sidearm or overhand to adapt to defenders.

In one goal, he split two defenders and fired an overhead rocket into the net. Webb did miss a shot in overtime. The coach yelled as it sailed over the net.

"Bounce the shot! Keep it low to the ground!"
