Couple Dates to Note Right Now:

Feel free to begin posting rosters. At minimum, please provide a list of players that play for your nation, so even if you do not plan on RP’ing, other people can RP their game against you better. Feel free to take it a step further by adding some biographical info about your player, or get really creative and provide exceptional detail. This is also a good place to list your home stadium or stadiums that the games will be played at that are in your nation. Roster bonus is provided, and yes, the exceptional detail rosters get more, but every roster gets something.

Also please provide a RP Permissions Box with your answers to the following as shown below. The purpose of this is to determine what your opponent can do in regards to the game, if they were to RP it first. Bear in mind, that once the opponent RP’s a game first, then your RP should follow along, however you can add details. For example, you’re opponent RP’s that their player hit a huge three-pointer just before the halftime buzzer. You could, while accepting that the player made this shot, say something to the effect of, “The referee clearly missed when he stepped on the out of bounds line a couple seconds before the shot; or, the shot clock expired before he got the shot off, etc etc). The box is intended to provide parameters on what they can do)

Choose my Scorers: Yes/No (Can the opponent name your scorers?)
Choose Scoring Events: Yes/No (Can they say how they scored?)
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes/No (Can they provide complete explicit detail to how they scored?)
RP Injuries to my Players: Yes/No (Can they RP injuries? A common “medium” answer here is to say yes, but to add a caveat to just say they were hurt and you determine the severity).
Godmod Injuries to my Players: Yes/No (Can they provide complete detail in regards to them?)
Godmod Other Events: Yes/No (Can they get silly, and say things such as “As the player prepared to release the free throw, the usher in section 116 opened a curtain to allow blinding light to shine directly in their eye. Or maybe aliens will visit, or some other wild event that is unrealistic, but fun. If this is something you want to do, say yes. If not, say no. If “in between” perhaps say “TG me first” so your opponent could run the idea by you.
Style Modifier: (Between -5 and +5, higher if you are an offensive minded team, lower if defensive).

Make sure to check your opponents RP permissions before RP’ing so that you do not violate any of them.

Remember: While RP’ing often increases your chances of winning, it does not guarantee it.

Get to know Newmanistan

The 24th International Basketball Championships are being held in Newmanistan, and this may mean people from your country are interested in coming here. There is a lot more to do then just watch basketball, so don’t just come for the game, make a vacation out of it! Here are the answers to some questions that you may have!

A) What is the government structure? Are there any strange laws I need to worry about?

Newmanistan is an Empire, and is ruled by Emperor Michael V. But don’t let that get you into thinking that we are some crazy dictatorship. The Emperor is well aware that nations in this day and age that still have an imperial structure can get a bad rep. While the Emperor is responsible for making all the laws, they are not much different then you will see in democratic type nations. People are free to live their own lives, and as long as they don’t break any of the reasonable laws, the government is out of their hair. Many cities are led separately by people approved by the Emperor. In some cases, the Emperor will allow for there to be a vote in a smaller election, just as long as the candidates are pre-approved.

There are no strange laws to worry about, but you may want to know that there is something that is not a law here. Newmanistan is famous for the automobile history, and “rocket powered” engines (the origin of the Rockets moniker for our teams), so therefore we allow those engines to live to their full potential. In other words, there are no speed limits on any of our roads. If you are afraid to drive on these roads, you can feel free to use a readily accessible system of public transport.

Anything that is a law in our country is likely a law in many other countries. One thing to note though is that punishments for law breakers are far more strict here. While in Newmanistan, your citizens are bound by Newmanistanian law at all times.

B) What about the economy? Social freedoms, and the like?

Newmanistan prides itself on having an economy that is so good many call it “Frightening”. Taxes exist, but are minuscule.

Social freedoms can be hit and miss in regards to what the Emperor will do, and what won’t be done. Freedom of speech, religion, and of the press are all held dear. Discrimination on the basis of gender, race, religion, or sexual preference is illegal. On the other hand, social welfare programs are minimal.

C) Tell me about the cities!

Pocono City- This is the capital of the Empire, as well as the largest city. It is located in the south central portion of the Empire, on the banks of the Penthoria River. There isn’t anything that you will not be able to find here. Older and younger crowd are attracted here, corporate headquarters are all over, and of course you have the Royal Castle. Tours of the castle and the city in general are offered at a 24% discount for all fans coming from a nation participating in the knockout stages of the tournament, or of a group stage opponent within the group stage. While you are here, check out the World Baseball Classic Hall of Fame right here in Pocono City. (USA Equivalent Comparison- New York City with a touch of Washington, DC governmental influence).

Arena: Emperor Michael I arena, Capacity- 23,000

This is beautiful state of the art facility, named after the first ever Emperor of Newmanistan. Nothing less should be expected here as you will not find a better indoor arena anywhere else in the Empire.

Loudon- This is a large city in the Northeastern corner of the Empire that takes pride in being the main rival of Pocono City in just about everything one can think of. It’s got a bit of a younger demographic then does Pocono City, and considers itself to be the most sports-crazed city in Newmanistan. That is certainly debatable, but recent trends have backed it up. The city lacks some of the more touristy destinations, but there are plenty of sports bars and clubs to give your fans plenty of what they are coming here for in the first place. (USA Equivalent Comparison- Boston).

Arena- “The Jungle”, Capacity- 17,881

It’s not the biggest arena, and that’s a good thing, because this place gets so loud, it can be a madhouse. Initially it was called, simply Loudon Stadium, but when Michael IV years ago opted to rename stadiums and arenas, he opted to simply call the arena what had always been it’s nickname: “The Jungle”. Gets the nickname for two reasons, the first being the noise level, and the second being that the home teams are the Loudon Leopards.

Tundra Falls- In itself, there’s nothing all that extraordinary about the city of Tundra Falls. It’s a large city about 80 miles northwest of Pocono City, and is known more for its unique sporting facility. Special things happen here, but probably not anything that your fans will notice. It is the home of the Proving Grounds. (USA Equivalent- Indianapolis)

Arena- The Arena at the Proving Grounds, Capacity- 22,100 inside arena; almost 1,000,000 on the grounds.

So, what is the Proving Grounds? On a small scale, it is the place where all youth sports or scholastic sports hold their championship games. It has everything, first there is modern baseball stadium, with a capacity around 50,000. Beside it, an equivalent stadium for football, soccer, or lacrosse. Beside that, there’s this 22,100-seat arena for basketball or hockey, as well as an aquatic facility, and a track and field facility. That’s not all..... Because all of that is in the middle of a 3.5 mile superspeedway for auto racing.

For a large international event, like the final for this tournament, when the Arena sells out, fans can then sit in the stands of the auto racing facility and watch the game on large television monitors. No, they won’t be inside the arena, but they can be part of the experience.

But wait, there’s more: It is Newmanistanian legend (and RP’d to be fact; as many of the spirits are known to be legends of sports who have passed on), that the Proving Grounds are overseen by spirits, known as the Spirits of Tundra Falls. When an athlete gets a lucky break in an event, they can thank the spirits. So, if Newmanistan catches a lucky break here, you may know why it happened. This goes the other way, too, as those who are not respectful, including Newmanistanians, of the spirits, can see their luck become poor real quick.

Jessicaville- Back in the day, Newmanistan was part of a region known as One Big Island, and was bordered to the east by the nation of Secristan. We had a good sporting rivalry, basketball included, but when Secristan ceased to exist, Newmanistan annexed their former national capital, which was known to them, as Amherst. However, when we took it over, we declared its new name to be Jessicaville, in honor of Empress Jessica I, who was the ruler at the time. Now that many years have gone by, it’s become just another Newmanistanian city but its history is a lot different. (USA Equivalent- Pretend Toronto about 100 years after the USA hypothetically took it over).

Arena: Empress Jessica I Arena. Capacity- 25,000

A large arena with more luxury boxes then the average arena. In fact, 8,000 of that capacity consists of luxury box seating. Ticket prices and concession prices are very high.

Those are the four primary cities hosting games. However these four will also host first round games.

Southport- Keisler Arena (Capacity- 18,250), SW Newmanistan, USA Equivalent- Los Angeles
Centralia- Centralia Arena (Capacity- 16,770), Central Newmanistan, USA Equivalent- Detroit (without the crime and rundown buildings)
Putnam Lake- McAllister Arena (Capacity- 20,020), SW Newmanistan, USA Equivalent- San Diego
Olympia- Gladiator Arena (Capacity- 16,660), NW Newmanistan

Anything: Yes - So long as you don't do anything stupid that I'd have a serious objection to, such as portraying my players as being evil, insane, stupid, or killing/seriously injuring them. Teams from the Equestrian States are generally clean, meaning they don't cheat and try to avoid fouls if possible. If you've got any questions, shoot me a TG.

FILINDOSTAN
National Basketball Team
International Basketball Championships 24

The Samahang Basketbol ng Filindostan (SBF) is pleased to present the Filindostan National basketball team, to compete in the 24th International Basketball Championships, hosted by Newmanistan. The Pula Agilas will be making their international debut in the multiversal basketball stage and will hope for a good performance in the tournament.

Image
About the Samahang Basketbol ng Filindostan

The Samahang Basketbol ng Filindostan (SBF) was founded after they split from the Filindostani National Sports Commission (FNSC), citing the FNSC's tainted image during the Multiverse Boxing Organization boxing tournament and the budget cut the agency suffered. They were the first agency to split from the FNSC and will oversee the development of Filindostani basketball as well as the Filindostani Basketball Association.

The SBF's headquarters are located in San Marco, Filindostan, adjacent to the International Union of Basketball Clubs (IUBC) headquarters, and is headed by Charito "Charie" Pamungkas.

Nickname: Pula Agilas (Red Eagles)
First Match: none yet
First Win: none yet
Overall Record: 0-0

Head Coach: Protacio "CIOT" Santos, Male, 41
Assistant Coach: ANITA Tanjing, Female, 32
Shooting Coach: Ronilo "MCBUCKETS" Mac Arthur, Male, 34
Defensive Coach: Michelle "CHEL" Abunda, Female, 36
Coach: Pocholo "CHOL" Lekatompessy, Male, 41
Coach: ANNAMARIAFE Weici, Female, 46
Coach: Enriko "ENRI" Batagliga, Male, 51

Playing Squad

In Filindostan, people are often called by their nickname. Some players opt to put their nickname instead of the customary last name in their jerseys.

Centers

51 | C | Harry Rigobert "HARI" Smith | M | 21 | 7'2' | Venividicci
88 | C/PF | PAUL Pardosi | M | 19 | 6'7' | Universiti Tanjung Pagi - Jakulta (UTP-J)
1 | C/PF | Angelica Marie "ANGGE" Ritonga | F | 25 | 6'8' | Fortunas

Hari, a very tall player from Venividicci, will be the starting center for this bunch of guys and gals. Height has been a big issue in Filindostan, with lack of talented big men plaguing Filindostani basketball. The lack of height of the centers are being compensated by their three point shooting and a pesky brand of in your face defense. Paul is a unique three and D center. His only problem is how to handle foul trouble, something that he has not figured out yet while at UTP-J. He is expected to be in the second unit with Angge being the backup should both centers run into foul trouble.

Forwards

44 | PF | Cahya Farida "FARIDA" Indrajaya | F | 31 | 6'7' | Jakulta City
15 | SF | Hedder Sandro "SANDRO" Frias | M | 26 | 6'5' | Venividicci
55 | SF/SG | Stella Arielle "STAR" Delos Santos-Strauss | F | 24 | 6'4' | Fortunas
9 | PF/SF | Immanuel "IMAN" Sidebang | M | 20 | 6'6' | Jakulta City
6 | PF | Antonio Ernie "ANTENY" Basada | M | 28 | 6'6' | Venividicci
97 | SF | KETURAH Sinuhaji | F | 33 | 6'5' | Perbotres Bandaroon

Farida is the captain of the team and is most likely the glue gal of the team. She can be relied upon in post-up matchups and interior defense. The star of the team is Sandro. His athletic wingspan enables him to block opposing teams' shots, and was dubbed "The Flyswatter" by the Filindostani media. His offensive game is also ridiculous, as he can slash into the opponents' paint and either perform a difficult reverse layup, or, as most times, posterize opposing defenders and getting that and-one. Star is very reliable on three point shooting and can slot in the shooting guard position despite her being used as a small forward while at Fortunas. She's the younger sister of Domo of the Pula Garuda and the Fortunas football team. Iman, Anteny and Keturah are serviceable backups but nothing notable is known about the three.

Guards

8 | PG/SG | Ricard "RICKI" Ricafort | M | 26 | 6'2' | Fortunas
3 | SG | Jennyfer "JENNY" Farias | F | 21 | 6'3' | Venividicci
21 | PG | ABDEL Nahusuly | M | 25 | 5'11' | Tanjung Pagi SC
0 | SG/SF | Romarie "ROMA" San Martin | F | 30 | 6'3' | Perbodos Bandariyan
41 | PG/SG | ESAU Sinupayung | M | 34 | 6'1' | Perbouno Bandarito
7 | PG | Jose Maria "JOMA" Estrada | M | 18 | 5'10' | University of Filindostan (UF)

Joma, being still in collegiate basketball, is the surprise addition for coach Ciot. The speedy point guard from UF impressed the coaching staff enough for him to be included in the lineup. However it is Ricki, the vice captain of the team, that will be the floor general for the Pula Agilas. Jenny is the three point specialist of the team and she could be streaky - once she gets hot - which she is anatomically, it's hard for her to stop. However, her weakness is once she gets into a shooting slump, her entire game is being wasted with a string of bricked shots and airballs. Abdel is a hot headed speedy guard for coach Ciot, and has a short temper. He usually starts fights, but he's able to make his opponent be ejected (along with him) with his antics. Roma and Esau will mostly be subbed in during garbage time or when the game is essentially over, win or lose.

Home Venue/s
Image

ISMART ANETTA COLISEUM
San Marco, Filindostan
Capacity 21,000

The Anetta Coliseum is one of the oldest sporting venues in Filindostan. Built in 89965, the arena has hosted multiple Filindostani referendums, basketball league games, concerts, boxing matches, and Hastags concerts. This is also a designated venue for the IUBC in the event of no host bids from other countries. Located in the city center and a train station dedicated to it, the arena is one of the most accessible sport venues in Filindostan. The arena is sponsored by Ismart, one of the biggest telecommunications company in the nation.

All of Filindostan's home games will take place at this arena. The arena security is very strict and tight, but with the right price, contrabands (illegal items) can be smuggled into the arena, save for explosive devices and deadly weapons. Games are usually jampacked, as this sport is the most popular in the Filindostani capital.

Depth Chart and Tendencies
Depth Chart
The below depth chart will be the most likely used by coach Ciot bar injuries, suspensions and sent-homes. Specialized lineups may be used in case of foul trouble or a stroke of strategy genius.
PositionStartersBenchReserve
CHariPaulAngge
PFFaridaImanAnteny
SFSandroRomaKeturah
SGStarJennyEsau
PGRickiAbdelJoma

The second unit usually enter the game three minutes before the first quarter ends, but can enter as late as the last few seconds of the first quarter. The third unit enter the game when Filindostan is already leading by a very large margin (35+) by the end of third or if they have a large deficit (25+) going into the last five minutes of the game. Usually the starters finish the game.

Specialized lineups
Small ball: Paul - Sandro - Star - Jenny - Ricki
Three ball: Paul - Sandro - Star - Jenny - Abdel
Tall: Hari - Paul - Iman - Roma - Ricki

Tendencies
Due to the lack of height of the Filindostani team, they compensate what they lack by three point shooting and pesky defense. However, if needed, they may take the foot on the gas pedal and quicken the pace of the game, shooting the ball within ten to twelve seconds of possession. The team bar Sandro prefers perimeter shooting over layups and dunks - their favorite play is the pick and pop where the center or power forward screens for the shooter to eliminate the defender and create good looks at the basket. Defensively they play a 2-3 zone, sometimes switching to a man-to-man when the ball is outside the three point line. This switch takes the toll on the players, so it is rarely done on a regular basis.

The team does not react well on bad calls. Coach Ciot has a reputation to hoard technical fouls and ejections, costing the SBF money for fines. Players, particularly Abdel, can also go out of control due to bad calls.

Uniforms
Image

Filindostani apparel maker NNS will supply Pula Agilas' jerseys for this tournament. An all red with black and white semi-horizontal stripes is their primary, while in case of color clashes, they use their white alternate with red and black semi-horizontal stripes.

Team RP and Permissions
The below information will help teams RP against my team in case they RP first.

Most likely to... (in order)

Score big: Sandro, Star, Ricki
Score a buzzer beater: Star, Jenny, Sandro
Posterize opposing defenders: Sandro, Hari
Get a technical: Star, Abdel, Ciot
Be ejected: Ciot, Star, Sandro
Be fouled out: Ricki, Paul, Hari
Take the last shot/Score the winning basket: Ricki, Sandro, Star
Be posterized: Star, Iman, Farida
Get hot and shoot three after three: Jenny, Joma, Abdel

Fans
Filindostani fans are double-edged swords - sometimes they are most passionate fans in Filindostan, sometimes, they can be compared to the worst of internet trolls. Around five thousand diehard fans will travel to the host nation to watch their team play - but they usually bring their megaphones and flares with them - they somehow make it past the guards. Some fans are crazy enough to invade the arena and cause match delays. The special thing about Filindostani basketball fans is that when the basketball team host their hated rival or a team well below the standings, they bring kangkong (water spinach) with them and chant it all throughout the team introductions.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my Scorers: Yes
Choose Scoring Events: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: No
RP Injuries to my Players: Yes - I'll determine the severity
Godmod Injuries to my Players: No - No deaths or career-ending injuries
Foul my players out: Yes
Eject my pleyers: Yes - Make sure to eject at least one of yours too if done
Eject my head coach: Yes
Godmod Other Events: No

Now the job is to regain the title with the same players who won Abanhfleft's first title in basketball in so many years, but do they still have what it takes? Can their new coach lead them to a second title? There's only one way to find out, and it's by going to Qasden and Abaja and seeing how things unfold...

HOME STADIUM (The Fleftic Arena, Riuwiee)
Image
Presenting the Fleftic Arena, the largest indoor arena by seating capacity in the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft

Situated in the north of Abanhfleft's capital city of Riuwiee is the National Sports Park, a 140-hectare "special national designated area" in which a majority of Riuwiee's sporting facilities are located. Standing out among the stadia and gymnasia is the massive and imposing structure and flat roof of the Fleftic Arena, officially the largest indoor stadium in the whole of Abanhfleft with its official stated capacity of 100,786 seated spectators for indoor sports. The structure broke ground on September 26, 2009 as part of the capital city's reconstruction efforts following the aftermath of the Holy Catholic Revolution of 2008 which left nearly the entirety of Riuwiee devastated, and construction was completed over three years later in 2012. The Fleftic Arena is the official home arena of the Abanhfleft national basketball team and has played host to dozens of matches during the International Basketball Championships. Aside from that, the Riuwiee Presidents of the Fleftic Basketball Association occasionally uses the Fleftic Arena as its home stadium when it plays marquee match-ups against well-known teams from the league such as the Malabon Black Ops or the Markovsky Red Army, taking advantage of the arena's huge capacity when the capacity of their usual home stadium, the Sterling Arena, is deemed to be not enough for games of such popularity. Aside from that, the Fleftic Arena has also played host to at least four FBA All-Star Weekends since its inauguration and opening in 2012.

As for the stadium's location, Riuwiee is the capital city of Abanhfleft and is home to over 20 million people. The Fleftic people are very crazy and passionate about basketball, and even though their home side the Riuwiee Presidents has been disappointing in the FBA as of late, the fans still come out in droves to support and cheer for their team.

THE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF THE UNITED SOCIALIST STATES OF PRIDNESTROVIA
NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM

Basketball is the second most popular sport in the Democratic People's Republic of the United Socialist States of Pridnestrovia. The nation's premier basketball competition, currently known as the Pridnestrovian Basketball Super League, has been around since 1967 and is generally considered the second oldest sporting league in the country, second only to the association football competition currently known as the Pridnestrovian Super League. Basketball in Pridnestrovia, like all sports in Pridnestrovia, is generally dominated by three teams: BC CSKA Tiraspol, known as the Army Team because of its roots in the Pridnestrovian Army's sports and fitness section; BC Admiral Novorossiysk, known as the Navy Team because their founders were the same seamen who founded FC Admiral Novorossiysk who were looking for a sport to play during the winter months, when football pitches were generally unavailable; and BC Dinamo Bender, the basketball branch of the Dinamo Bender multi-sports club and eternal rivals of CSKA Tiraspol. However, in recent years, other teams such as Kesselburger Cagers, Strigoni Macaresti, and Bacardi Derinkuyu have all attempted to challenge the dominance of the Big Three in the PBSL. So far, none of them have succeeded in winning more than a handful of titles against the collective dominance of the Big Three in terms of basketball championships. It is from these teams that the national basketball team of Pridnestrovia has been assembled, although help in the form of half-Pridnestrovian sons scattered throughout the multiverse have been sought out as well. The Pridnestrovian Republic knows that the chances of the team winning this competition on their first ever try aren't so good but they will want to see a good and respectable performance out of the boys in red and green. Up the Red Army! Glory to the Pridnestrovian Republic!

DRAWKLAND NET CORPS
Basketball is an avid sport in Drawkland, with huge cheering crowds and near-constantly playing pep bands the norm. If you've never been to a basketball game in Drawkland, you may want to bring a pair of earplugs. Or two. You'll need them. We get hyped, maybe too much so.

As you may notice, the Drawkian team is sorta massive, as far as height goes. This is perfectly natural for Drawkians, as the national height average is 7'5" (they're not related to humans evolutionarily besides the shape and proportions and such). They also may seem like they're "middle-aged," but that's wrong. In fact, most professional Drawkian athletes are between the ages of 20 and 50. Again, this is perfectly natural, as the average lifespan is about 150 and the body doesn't "peak" until about 50 or 60.

After a rather close group stage last edition and getting squashed in the Round of 16 for the fourth time (once by Royal Kingdom of Quebec, once by Vangaziland, once Abaja, and now once by Ceni), the Net Corps is ready to bring some heavy firepower and get even further this edition, for once.

This time, instead of going the basic "All-Star team" route, the Drawkian International Sporting Council (DISC) hand-picked team members, some high performers from last edition, a couple different all-star club players, and even a few collegiate players who REALLY shined in the NSCAA.
The team is Co-Ed, and coaches were selected from the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion team's head coaches from last year's championships. The 3rd coach is the head coach of the current champion collegiate team. Same squad as always. We dunno what's gonna happen here, but hopefully we break the Round of 16 this time.

Bench
C #13 Bora Ceesay. 6'11. 29 years old.

SG #12 Ya Kuyateh. 6'2. 21 years old.
PF #36 Edrissa Colley. 6'10. 22 years old.

PF/SF #9 Tombong Sanyang. 6'7. 31 years old.
PG/SG #7 Amadou Secka. 6'3. 18 years old.

Notes:
- We almost always play a 2-3 zone defense. IT works well with this team, which has lots of size, but very little speed.
- This team does not shoot three pointers. They will attempt less than 5 per game. Banijan basketball never adopted the three pointer, so this is why the country does not have shooters.
- This team loves to play halfcourt offense and very aggressive defense. They will almost never run, and are excellent defensive rebounders. While they had an excellent frontcourt, their backcourt leaves a lot to be desired, and the guards will consistently get dominated on both ends of the floor.
- Pursuant to the point above, this team's points are mostly scored by their PF and C in the paint. They post up a lot, and the offense is centered around getting the ball on the post. That being said, their bigs are actually decent free throw shooters(both shoot around 70% from the line).

IBC 24: NEWMANISTAN DREAMING AND THE QUEST FOR THREE-PEAT

Surge look to write IBC history this season

by Ray Wright

KARDASHIA - The St. Kanye Surge are once again the reigning International Basketball Champions, winning the twenty-third edition in Qasden, over the Abanhfleft Rebolusyonaryos, three games to one. Together with their previous rings in IBC 20 and 22, the boys in purple and lime have three, tying Sarzonia (IBC 3, 7, 8), The Andromeda Islands (IBC 10, 12, 19) and West Saintland (winning IBCs 14 to 16 as simply Saintland). But now the worldwide hoops fest is back, this time in Newmanistan, and the Surge are not only looking to win it all, but also to make history with only the second three-peat and also the most titles in IBC history should they grab their fourth.

However, the road to the top has never been easy, and the Yeezies don't expect things to be any different here. Old heavyweights like the Rebolusyonaryos, the Vangaziland Royals and the Ceni Snakes will be among the forty-seven teams all hungry to bring the Surge to there knees, and there is always the chance of a surprising newcomer eager to prove themselves for the first time. Surprisingly absent from the IBC 24 entry list, however, are last season's co-hosts and third-placers Abaja, West Saintland's revamped team, as well as IBC 23's "surprising newcomers" Empire of Cats.

"A fourth title .... yes, that will be a very nice gift to the Kanyean people", said Surge head coach Anton Spoletto. "We'll do our best to make that happen, work hard and play hard as always, and expect the unexpected." He then added "I have trust in my boys, even the new ones, that we could get the job done." Coach S is of course referring to new acquisitions Alex Martin, Rakim Roberts and Klaus Muhlenberg, who will be competing in IBC 24 in place of Josh Jackson (gone pro), Joel Pond (injury) and Joey Levy (personal reasons). Roberts was interviewed before the unveiling fo the new Surge uniforms at Stardashia Hotel here last Wednesday, and he said "I've always dreamed of this, a chance to play in national colors and make my family, friends and nation proud. I look forward to playing with Brock [Dotson], Vic[tor McLain] and the rest of the guys. I have been watching them ever since and admire their level of playing." Speaking of the new uniforms, they will be the same home whites/away purples with an update on the bolt pattern on the side and the return of a black alternate with the country's trigramme first seen in IBC 20. There will be three gold stars above the name at the back, signifying St. Kanye's three IBC titles so far.

The group draw has not been announced yet, but we at the Kibitzer will be providing updates on that as well as on the rest of IBC 24 as they come. SKYNET (Saint KanYe NETwork) Sports Channel 12 will once again provide the telecast for the IBC 24 opening and closing ceremonies and the games. Online straming will be on ibc-tv.stk, as always.

St. Kanye (STK) Surge Roster - IBC 24

Image
Anton Spoletto | Head Coach | 65 yo
Coach Spoletto has collected 24 titles in 35 years of coaching high school, college, and the amateur and pro leagues, not to mention the IBC 22 and 23 trophies the last two seasons. He's a master strategist who's fond of surprising his opponents by mixing up his plays and lineups a lot. He will give everyone a chance to play, put up stats, and prove themselves.

Image
Bernard Foley | Assistant Coach | 37 yo
Assistant Coach Foley provides a defensive mindset to the team to complement Coach Brewster's preference for offense.

Image
#56 | Michael Porter | PG (Starter) | 24 yo | 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) | 188 lb (85 kg)
Michael (never Mike) lost both parents in a skiing accident when he was 14, which forced him out of high school, where he was the captain of the basketball team. He turned to the sport as a way to support himself and his five younger siblings, playing in the street courts of Jalton City for money. A scout from Upper Middle Lowlands State University saw his skills and offered him money to finish high school, and a full athletic scholarship to UMLSU afterwards. Today Michael showcases his fancy footwork, trick shots, and immense passing ability as the starting point guard of the UMLSU Dogs, and now, the Surge.

Image
#18 | Victor McLain | SG (Starter) | 23 yo | 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m) | 200 lb (91 kg)
Many sportswriters from all around the Glorious Free Republic have hailed the Kanyean National Institute of Technology's Victor McLain as "the three-pointer, personified" and fully expected him to take his long-distance prowess to the national hoops team one day. A baller since grade school, McLain practiced and perfected his three-point shot, doing it from a variety of distances, angles, and even number of defenders, breaking many school basketball scoring records in the process. He's also quite good at closer shots, including free throws, although his defending abilities are just at average, and his rebounding well below it. Victor spent his offseason recording an album titled "Don't Stop Believing", featuring his solo version of the song that he together with EOC Feline Teresa Rolde and Abanhfleft Reb Jazz Higgs sang during IBC 23, as well as several other original songs.

Image
#12 | Alex Martin | SF (Starter) | 22 yo | 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) | 226 lb (103 kg)
Josh Jackson has left the national team to go pro, and filling in for him at the three spot is Alex Martin, who plays as a "point forward" for the University of Kardash East Comrades. He is considered to be a combination of Victor McLain and Michael Porter with his accurate perimeter shooting, and amazing dribbling and passing abilities. Martin has only returned to St. Kanye for college, after living much of his life in Abanhfleft. He was even on former Rebolusyonaryo Chris Morada's old high school team for one year, when he was a freshman and Morada was a senior.

Image
#13 | Brock Dotson | PF (Starter, Captain) | 24 yo | 6 ft 10 in (2.08 m) | 262 lb (119 kg)
Brock takes over the captain position at both the national team and the UMLSU varsity team. He possesses height, long arms, quick reflexes and a keen eye regarding the basketball, which makes him useful for rebounding, blocking, stealing and diving for loose balls. Brock is also good at drawing fouls from defenders, though not at sinking those charities after. His field goal abilities, including threes, are above average. Aside from basketball, Brock is rather fond of 7ball, the Drawkian sport, which he plays to pick up new moves and improve his athleticism. He also acts as a "playing scout" and is the on most often analyzing games of teams and players they will face next.

Image
#23 | Rakim Roberts | C (Starter) | 22 yo | 6 ft 10 in (2.08 m)| 308 lb (140 kg)
Roberts started out as a guard in middle school before a continuous growth spurt moved him to forward in high school and then center in college, playing capably and skillfully in all five positions. The purple and lime was all too happy to invite him to jump onboard as a replacement to Joel Pond, who broke his ankle during a tune-up game against a collegiate all-star selection in preparation for IBC 24. Interestingly, Roberts was part of that college selection, leading the team with 24 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. However, the Surge played on without Pond and squeezed out a narrow 97-95 win.

Image
#19 | Norman Walker | PG (Bench) | 23 yo | 5 ft 10 in (1.78 m) | 175 lb (79 kg)
All you need to know about Norman is in his nickname: "The Fly". "Fly" as in the insect - small, fast, hard to get rid of (as a defender). And "fly" as in soaring - who says people below six feet can't dunk?

Image
#7 | Jayvon Duff | SG (Bench) | 24 yo | 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m) | 193 lb (88 kg)
If Victor McLain is the president of Rainbow Country, Duff could well be his vice president. While also a master of the long shot, Duff takes longer to heat up, and so he's at his best during late game situations, knocking back go-ahead baskets or game-winning buzzer-beaters.

Image
#11 | Zack Coyle | SF (6th Man) | 23 yo | 6 ft 9 in (2.06 m) | 235 lb (107 kg)
Coyle, of Kardashia A&M, is the Surge's sixth man and its most capable defender. His output does not reflect much on the scoreboard (3.1 points per game), but only because he mostly focuses on D (7.4 steals, 3.3 blocks, 8.5 forced turnovers).

Image
#8 | Dave Samson | PF (Bench) | 21 yo | 6 ft 9 in (2.06 m) | 256 lb (116 kg)
Dave is from the Jalton City projects and was discovered by Michael Porter during one of the latter's streetball games, mostly impressed by the difficulty defenders have getting past him, his speed in getting to them, and his close and mid-range shooting. Dave spent his offseason growing out the beard he had during the playoffs, saying "The fans loved it. The team loved it. Heck, I loved it."

Image
#26 | DeAngelo Norris | C (Bench) | 21 yo | 6 ft 10 in (2.08 m)| 289 lb (131 kg)
Quick as he is tall (no slow big men for the purple and lime), hard-working (first to practice, last to leave) and a jokester in the locker room. This former high school star, now with Northwest Tech, is the second youngest player in the national team after the addition of Dave Samson.

Image
#4 | Johnathan Schneider | SF (Bench) | 22 yo | 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m) | 218 lb (99 kg)
A patient player who prefers safe, sure shots, cool under pressure, but is more known for intercepting opponents' passes. Changed his number to 4, for the birthdate of his girlfriend (April 4, or 4/4).

Image
#9 | Klaus Muhlenberg | PF (Bench) | 22 yo | 6 ft 9 in (2.06 m) | 246 lb (112 kg)
Muhlenberg is a naturalized player from the nation of Freigebig (OOC: A region-mate who allowed me to use his nation's name). Known for his speed and defense, he usually blocks or strips opponents from the back before they expect it. Also a good shooter and prefers his threes from the corner.

Cosumar National Basketball Team -- IBC 24

Image

Information

Nation - The Fiefdom of Cosumar is a constitutional monarchy renowned for its wide-ranging personal freedoms, diverse populace and landscapes, space exploration, technological innovation and passionate sporting culture.

Region - Atlantian Oceania (far northeast)

Demonym - Cosumarite

Team Nickname - Stallions

Domestic League - The Cosumar Basketball Association (CBA). Following the NBA model, the CBA consists of 32 teams with 16 in each conference (Eastern and Western). After a season of 62 games, the top eight teams in each conference advance to a playoff for the CBA Title. Best-of-5 series are used in the playoffs until the conference finals, after which point Best-of-7 is used. Six editions have been completed under the modern structure, with the Dusk Wolfpack winning the most recent RPed edition for their first ever title. The IBC takes place every two domestic seasons. The Cosumarite delegation typically resembles the CBA All-Star Team from the latest season.

History - This is Cosumar's fourteenth International Basketball Championships, having participated in all but two editions since IBC 9 in Mytannion. The Stallions have always been moderately successful in the tournament, but their first major achievement came in IBC 15 when they made a run to the Quarterfinals, knocked out by #1 Saintland by the slimmest of margins. After similar success in IBC 16 and 17, Cosumar finally reached the pinnacle of basketball by winning IBC 18 over Ko-oren in a historic comeback from 2-0 down. Now, as former champions and among the top teams in the world, expectations are high. They were eliminated early in the playoffs by Saint Kanye, Abanhfleft and Valladares in IBCs 20-22, however, and crashed out in the group stage of the last edition. So the pressure is on for second-cycle head coach Breckenridge to turn things around fast.

Team Style - +4

Roster

Starting 5

PG - WARREN CROSS - (6'3", 190 lbs, 28 yrs) - Goldstaff Lightning
Warren Cross has cemented himself as a bona-fide superstar in Cosumar and future legend. He is the prototypical point guard. He has the ridiculous handles. He has the beautiful passing touch (known for his creative bounce-passes). He has the floor-general gene too, a high-IQ leader who knows how to run an offense. Led the CBA with 14.5 assists per game last season. His one flaw is that he's an average shooter, but he is an exceptional finisher in the lane and free-throw taker. Appearance: pale skin, short curly reddish hair, lean build, arm tattoos.

SG - TARRAN SKANNENDEV - (6'5", 215 lbs, 24 yrs) - Gundar Basket
After his third year in CBA, the former Tamarskand Fief University star is already among the best two-way guards in the league. The kid can shoot. Few can match his pure stroke from anywhere on the floor. But you can't play him too close either because of his devastating athleticism and ability to finish with authority at the rim. A long, versatile attacking weapon, Skannendev is being groomed as the next go-to player for Cosumar. He also plays with equal effort on both ends of the floor, an effective defender in the backcourt. Coach Breckenridge would like to see him become more consistent, however, and develop the shaky passing and decision-making abilities we saw last time in his first IBC. Bjarne Herjúlfsson, an elite defensive guard, and Robinson Kamara, primarily a three-point specialist, are there on the bench whenever situation calls for a more seasoned hand at the position. Appearance: medium-length brown hair, muscular build, boyish face.

SF - CHADRAK KVOTIRKOY - (6'9", 235 lbs, 29 yrs) - Cassandra Flames
Kvotirkoy is such a smooth player for someone of his size. His midrange game is lethal from any angle on the floor, and he just seems to turn and glide past opponents with ease if they misplay him. He's such a versatile scorer (the reigning CBA scoring leader) - his presence will be critical for the Stallions' spacing. When he's not burying acrobatic midrange shots, he is a great screen-setter who will do a lot of the dirty work in unclogging the lane for Cross's drives. Despite his lack of top-end athleticism, he's sturdy and just as versatile on defense as offense. He can guard all five positions. Appearance: Medium Brown skin, tall tapered black hair with faded sides, headband.

PF - CASE SCANLON - (6'9", 245 lbs, 26 yrs) - Goldstaff Lightning
Scanlon is the beast athlete of the starting line-up. With his supreme strength, speed and power, he's fearsome to behold flying down the court or on the block. His length will trouble any shooter. Scanlon is not the most polished player on offense, but he can posterize you in the open floor (1008 Dunk Contest Champion) or knock down an occasional three if left wide open. Appearance: Light Brown skin, short black hair, headband, substantial goatee.

C - TOZIN SUMMATA - (7'2", 235 lbs, 27 yrs) - Mallox Mavericks
In IBC 21 and 22, Tozin was included in the Cosumarite bench for his obvious size and potential, but he was very raw as a player and didn't see much playing time. That is about to change. Now entering his prime, Tozin has shown signs with the Mavericks that he has become a more polished center who can be relied upon at the international level. His positioning, defensive discipline, toughness and even a limited offensive repertoire have developed handsomely since IBC 21. He's still a bit slow to react sometimes and will never score from outside 10 feet, but he has come a long way. Tozin's best attributes, however, remain his 7"2 frame and incredibly long arms - which he uses to protect the rim to devastating effect. He will give Cosumar sheer size in the middle that we've never had before. Summata leads the CBA in blocks over the last three seasons. Appearance: dark brown skin, small afro, lanky build, goggles.

Bench

PG - Rugian Na'Rel - (6'2", 190 lbs, 31 yrs) - Dusk Wolfpack
SG - Robinson Kamara - (6"6, 216 lbs, 20 yrs) - Overkill BC
PG/SG - Bjarne Herjúlfsson - (6"4, 203 lbs, 26 yrs) - Kaldukosic Krushers
SF - Alvin Kuhn - (6'5", 220 lbs, 27 yrs) - Crawford Cormorants
PF - Amanda Inyuta - (6'9", 225 lbs, 25 yrs) - Helfin Heathens
SF/PF - Judas Stanton - (6'9", 235 lbs, 29 yrs) - Altamirano Artillery
C - Ovu Va'Devu - (7'0", 240, 24 yrs) - Na'Malsille Pestilence
C - Samu Rudnevs - (6'11", 275 lbs, 33 yrs) - Pirankoper Kings

A balanced bench, with high-potential young guns in their early 20s (Va'Devu, Kamara) as well as experienced former-starters like Rudnevs and Stanton. This very much feels like the optimal window for these two generations to achieve something together before one fully displaces the other. From the slashing drives and famous floater of CBA Finals MVP Rugian Na'Rel to the powerful midrange game of burly forward Alvin Kuhn, it is a diverse and talented group that Coach Breckenridge has at his disposal on the sidelines. Combo forward Amanda Inyuta, meanwhile, became the first (and still the only) female to play for the Stallions in IBC 22.

CENIAN NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM - IBC 24
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CENTER - ORION DARKSTAR - 24 years old - DNS United
Playing for Southpoint Technical College in the NSCAA, Orion Darkstar, and his school, were left out of most pundits' early predictions, but the school surprised all the commentators, with Darkstar at the heart of the team's effort, with an overall excellent point differential, indicating Darkstar's ability not only to shoot well, but also to defend well. After the Technicall College stopped funding its basketball program, Darkstar was poached by defending champions the University of Cenial and had another successful season of college basketball before being selected for professional team DNS United upon his graduation.

POWER FORWARD - ASHUR EL-AMIN - 22 years old - New Oxford Mercury
Ashur El-Amin may be one of the most prolific scorers for his team but also led the University of New Oxford (and, now, the New Oxford Mercury) in the defense as well, the very model of an all-around player who excels on both ends of the court. He is of somewhat average height, like many Cenians, but makes up for that with an with an excellent lay-up and three-point shot; his rebound is actually his best basketball move. He has worked well with his team both in the NSCAA and in the CeniHoops, and might be getting reliable playing time, especially considering how well his team has done both in CeniHoops and the NSCAA, with New Oxford reaching the Final Four four years ago, only losing in a tight game against Sadeg State.

SMALL FORWARD - WES JARIK - 30 years old - New Oxford Mercury
Wes Jarik is a very accurate foul-shooter and three-point shooter that tries to get fouls called on him pretty easily; he is one of the smaller players in the game, and is versatile on the defense, using that small height to his advantage to guard players of different heights and abilities. He serves as a pivot between a lot of the different parts of the Cenian basketball game; passing, shooting, rebounding, and blocking are all part of his responsibilities for the team. He played extremely well for the New Oxford Mercury, a team which achieved second place, in the new CeniHoops basketball league.

SHOOTING GUARD - ACE STARGAZER - 29 years old - Whitehaven Storm
Ace Stargazer is a bit of an unusual name for an unusual man. He's one of the tallest players on the Cenian team, and can play with the best of the best in the defense and the offense. He is a good ball handler and passes well; additionally, he has a good guarding motion due to his height. He also switches with Wes Jarik as small forward and is instrumental in creating lots of plays with his passing ability. Most importantly, Stargazer is responsible for scoring, and that he does with a vengeance, with an extremely accurate jump shot and dunk, both due to his height.

POINT GUARD - NEIL HALCYON - 27 years old - Cenial Phoenix
Neil Halcyon is perhaps the savior of the Cenian team in this tournament. He is a good all-around player, but as the point guard, he specializes in creating plays and assists for his teammates. Known as a leader on the court, Halcyon is an excellent reader of other players and has a strategy and sticks to it. However, with this in mind, he has the capacity to surprise a defense by either driving in for a basket or hitting a three-pointer; he is extremely versatile in this regard, but mostly known for hitting great three pointers at a high accuracy rate. He led Cenial Phoenix to the title in the new CeniHoops league, and their first international title, showing off his calm demeanor and his basketball skills.

CENTER - ARALUS MAR-SHAYAL - 22 years old - Endemian College at Whitehaven
Mar-Shayal, the older brother of fellow basketball talent Kel, broke onto the stage with his wonderful performance at the Endemian College at Whitehaven, leading his team to a respectable showing in the NSCAA tournament overall. Tall and thin, Mar-Shayal is definitely capable of using his height to project power across the court; he excels with three-point shots and dunks, and is surprisingly quick for such a tall player. Not only can he score, though, he can defend as well, with an excellent rebound statistic and a good performance at blocking shots as well. Overall, Mar-Shayal makes an excellent center because of his combination of offensive and defensive skills, quickness, and hight, which allows him to effectively keep the team going.

POWER FORWARD - JAVIER AIZA - 22 years old - Huracán Norteño
Aiza takes quite a lot of initiative on the court and has a good passing and rebounding game. He often serves as a link between the offense and the defense on his team but says he has a better defensive game, working well to harry the opposition team and getting them to make mistakes. Aiza is in the mid-height wing for a basketball player, only around six foot four, but still manages to get into his rebounding role with quite a bit of creativity to make up for his lack of height. He was the guiding force for both his CeniHoops team, Huracán Norteño, and for the University of Ceni-Santiago, which was the surprise fourth seed in the entire NSCAA.

SMALL FORWARD - PHILLIP LOMAX - 26 years old - Cenial Phoenix
Although the University of Ceni underperformed in their conference, getting only 4th in the regular season, they won their conference championship to get into the Ultra 64. Lomax was one of the better players in his school and one of the better small forwards throughout the Cenian schools in NSCAA. As a small forward, he leads the team on offense and dunks while working in the man-to-man defense to deny the opposition shots. As a player, he works well with coaches who have a fast style of play, as he likes to be aggressive and shoot the ball a lot.

SHOOTING GUARD - ERIC ELGIN - 24 years old - Cenial Phoenix
Although Elgin was overlooked for the national team after conference play with the University of Cenial, where the team had to sneak in the Ultra 64 by way of at-large seeding, Elgin - and the team - had a renaissance in the Ultra 64 itself, going undefeated to win the NSCAA 7 title, defeating both the number 2 and 1 seeds (Corinth City and Sadeg State, both from Drawkland) along the way. Quite successful in the tournament, Elgin is a quintessential combo guard or tweener player in basketball; he swaps around positions and has quite a fluid style of play, on the offense and the defense. On the offense, he has a nice three-point shot and a good dunk, due to his height, and he's a very good team player, working with others to pass and score as it allows. He somewhat doubles as a center as well, despite his nominal position of shooting guard, due to his height and ability to rebound, dunk, and score. It takes a lot to get past Elgin in the defense as well as he likes to maintain a monopoly on the ball to prevent the offense from scoring, and he has an excellent hook shot to boot.

POINT GUARD - KIANA KE'SAHNDRHAN - 26 years old - Whitehaven Storm
The only woman on this team, Ke'Sahndrhan has the misfortune of being a point guard with the eminent Cenian Neil Halcyon occupying the starting spot on the national team. Playing for Whitehaven Naval Academy in the NSCAA, she outshone some of the more touted pre-season players as her team won their conference and did fairly well in the NSCAA Ultra 64 tournament. The navy believed in teamwork and Ke'Sahndrhan was no exception; as the point guard for her team, she is responsible for much of the passing going on with her team and excels in that regard, and as the point guard for her team, she's an excellent leader on the pitch.

IBC 24: GROUPS SET
Surge play opener against newcomers Juvencus

by Dante Dinkley

POCONO CITY - The St. Kanye Surge national basketball team arrive in the Newmanistani capital yesterday in preparation for their International Basketball Championships title defense. As the opening ceremonies won't be for two more days, the team will be taking the time to tour the country and practice first, according to head coach Anton Spoletto.

The Kanyeans, who after an IBO (International Basketball Organization) ratings overhaul are now sharing their world #1 rank with the Abanhfleft Rebolusyonaryos, have been drawn into the fifth of eight elimination round groups. They will start their campaign with three consecutive newcomer opponents in Juvencus, Eshan and Northwest Kalactin. Next up are frequent opponents in previous IBC group and playoffs stages the #14 Cosumar Stallions, and then 26th-ranked West Phoenicia. After this is a one-day break, and then the same five opponents again. St. Kanye's assistant coach Bernard Foley especially pointed out Cosumar, saying that "so many times we've clashed, and I'm sure they studied us as much as we've studied them. But even as we've beaten them a lot, we won't be taking any chances." "Neither will we against any other team, old or new", added newly crowned team captain Brock Dotson, who took over the role from Josh Jackson who is now playing professionally in the Kanyean league.

The usual rush of purple and lime-clad Surge fans has also started, even as venues for the group stages are yet to be determined. "It's that time of the year again. We, as fans, must also be as prepared as our idols, doing our part to support them as long as the tournament goes on", says 41-year-old bank teller Dustin Cho, wearing a purple and lime top hat and a fake beard made to look like Kanyean player Dave Samson's.

Meanwhile, Git Gud Games, the creator of the hugely popular PC title IBC: The Game, has released a free downloadable update of the game on their website in time for IBC 24. The Surge, among other teams, will receive roster, jersey and ratings changes. The company has said that they will be uploading more patches as more information on new teams and venues are known, so keep checking the site at www.git-gud.stk/ibcthegame.

New PG, New Car, New Sneaker Deal

Image

Healthy Start cereal and oatmeal boxes will contain one of a set of collectible cards, featuring several players from the Vangazi Royals in a joint promotion with Vannish Motors and Kix sneakers. The first cards appeared in boxes a week before the game to help spin up popularity. The cards will feature IBC basketball players with their favorite car and pair of sneakers.

Card #1 in the set features the Royals' new PG, Steven Eaglesen. His car of choice is the Vannish Motors Ghost - Medals Edition. The car was a limited run timed to release during the last Olympiad. Having tasted gold, Eaglesen saw fit to indulge. The car features silver paint with gold trim and bronze brake calipers. The steering wheel is also a shade of leather-wrapped bronze.

The sneakers he chose are tied to a multimillion dollar sneaker deal. Kix brand sneakers made their first debut with selected members of the Olympiad men & women basketball teams.

Steven took Vangaziland Men's Olympiad Basketball to back-to-back gold medal matches. Both times, the Royals left with the gold in the Empire's most targeted event. He was in college for his first Olympiad and returned as a pro. His guidance on and off the court made a huge impact on the Olympiad team, from the first days of training.

"I'm really excited to see how this new team will do", said Kate Foyleson. For several IBC seasons, Foyleson has been the Royals' assistant coach. This is her first season at the helm. "Our team has been due for some roster changes. We have a few key players who are coming off of great domestic seasons. Of course, we're also adding Olympiad stars for the first time.

In past editions, Olympiad and IBC team rosters were kept separate. One of Coach Tim Tomasson's last moves before being released was to get the Vannish Sporting Dept. to allow the addition.

Speaking on the prior head coach, Kate said, "I learned a lot from Coach Tomasson, but we have different styles. I want to take this team in a new direction. We slow down the ball and get set. We need to look at new ways to keep our offense dynamic. To score quicker."

Joining Kate will be former Vannish Star Frank Hurcle. He retired not long ago after a long domestic career. He helped Vangaziland reach it's first and second Championship game, where the Royals failed to win.

"I'm glad for the opportunity", said Coach Hurcle. "It's really interesting being on the coaching side. Seeing younger guys I played with as today's veterans is really a trip."

Not all people believe it will be peaches and cream for Vangaziland. Eaglsen and perennial Vannish all-star PG Hectare Yulssen will need to find a way to come together. They'll cut into each other's minutes, where both sides are used to starting for their respective teams.

Chris Parkssen is also preparing for his first IBC game. He's another Olympic star coming off of a breakout season overseas in Abaja. He played a major role in helping his team win a Championship, making headlines on a constant basis. Now he'll have to compete with Lonnie Knucks, another similar player.

"The good thing is that I play overseas", Parkssen told a blogger. "A lot of the other guys are rivals all year. They usually put it all aside for the IBC. But some darts still sting from previous seasons. Yulssen is great at keeping the crew together though."

The Royals will hope to make a playoff run and improve their standings and global recognition.
