Day 5 of the III Cycling World Championships in Liventia and Dunnes saw a boost in ratings for WP Sports 2 as West Phoenicia pulled in 3 medals.

After the success of Leah Overland many West Phoenician viewers wondered if that was all West Phoenicia had to offer. Aisde from the Olympic Games in Vekaiyu and Kelssek this is the first major international cycling event.

Just as viewers were about to tune out day 5 saw a remarkable comeback with Count Whiskey Catt pulling in gold in the Men's BMX finals that saw West Phoenician favourite Jason Mells crash and burn in the finals.
But which saw a new West Phoenician hero emerge in Count Whiskey Catt a popular young royal who hails from Antebellum Territory in West Phoenicia. Always seen as second best in the BMX squad he has stunned officals with his gold win.

If gold was not enough for the hungry West Phoenician crowds 2 silver wins were pulled in Sue Liverpool had a brilliant run in the women's cyclo-cross barely missing out on the gold. The other silver was won by Rachel Westwood in the women's scratch race.
Rachel is one of the youngest members of the West Phoenician cycling team at 17 years of age. Her family and friends were besides themselves that her first international event and she was coming home a medal winner.

WP Sports 2 has seen an increased spike in viewership with fans glued to the screens for more magic moments.

Dewhurst Delivers In Orean

WITH the more "traditional" events on the cycling programme getting underway in Orean, all eyes have turned upon the men and women in the famous sky blue skinsuits of Krytenia. Sadly, gone are the days when track cycling meant bicycle pumps at ten paces between the celestine cyclists and their arch-rivals from Sorthern Northland, but there are still those who wish to challenge the perceived Krytenian dominance of the velodrome. The likes of Kenmoria and co-hosts Dunnes are the main challengers this year upon the wooden circle, with long-established nations sugh as Liventia and West Phoenicia also lighting up the track.

So, not plain sailing for the Krytenians then, but not to worry. There are still stars of the track to cheer on. Take Yasmin "Jazz" Dewhurst for example. In the morning session, she kept pace well in the scratch race, keeping in the pack and on the lead lap - but was just edged out in the final sprint, forced to take a very wide line around the final bend to make space and coming around only(!) for the bronze medal to get the Sky Blue off the mark. But young Jazz wasn't done yet. The teenager from Wick lined up with Leah Hondo for the team sprint, and the pair put on a masterclass. Their opening run broke thirty-two seconds and set a new championship record, and whilst the Liventian pair gave them a run for their money in the semi, "Hon y Dew" (blame the Internet forumites for that one) were not to be denied. The twosome absolutely smoked the pair of Chloe Wright and Alicia Mille in the final, leading to the first - and probably not the last - pumping of Celesta through the PA.

As the action heats up in the velodrome, then, look out for more sky blue streaks and more medals to add to the collection. My fingers are pointed pretty much straight at the men's pursuit quartet, who broke their own championship record in making it to the final of the event.
"I revel in the nonsense; it's why I'm in Anaia."

Well Done In Dunnes

IT'S unusual to see Krytenians doing well on a bicycle that's not a track or road bike. Sure, we've had the odd talented BMXer, but they've tended to fall short at the business end of proceedings. In Dunnes, though, the nation may have found a new favourite sport; downhill mountain biking. It's certainly exciting, that's for sure. Twenty competitors take part in what is more of a trial be terrain than a trial by time. Negotiating the various jumps and obstacles at high speed is difficult enough without the addition of time pressure - something that poor Fiona Ellis of the co-host nation found as she went flying over the handlebars negotiating one high-speed corner. Thankfully, she wasn't injured, save for a few bruises; the straw bale she tumbled into doing its job perfectly.

Furious pedalling from all involved was the order of the day, and with four Krytenians each final, medal hopes were high. The men, going first, were found wanting, with sixth-placed Frankie Delacroix leading a triptych of mid-table Kryties. The women's event, however, was a different story. There were tears for Pippa Reynolds, who will probably look over every rock, bump, and drop on the course as she missed out on a medal by a mere 0.72 seconds; Carole Waldheim, meanwhile, going last, knew exactly what she had to do. That she fell a second short is neither here nor there; certainly, she seemed rather pleased with her silver medal - the only one won in any event in Dunnes by a member of the Krytenian team.

Hello, Velo!

TWO hundred and fifty metres of polished wood, two rubber tires, and a Krytenian human dynamo. This, on the western shore of the Beck, is the recipe for pure alchemy, as Krytenian cyclists turn sweat into gold. It has always been thus, and with the second day in the velodrome now complete, the men and women in sky blue did not disappoint. In the men's scratch race, the Kay twins were hoping to replicate Jazz Dewhurst's victory a day prior, and in the end it was like watching the end of a road race. Stephen, the older of the two (albeit by all of sixteen minutes), pulled to the front with a lap and a half to go, Ross in his slipstream; by the time Stephen lifted off just before the final bend, Kay the younger had an unassailable lead for the sprint finish. Kay the elder was officially tenth, passed by the pack as he eased off with only straggler Kenny Bullard failing to pass him.

Perhaps Stephen was helping his brother conserve energy for later in the day; if that was the case, the tactic worked a treat, as Ross collected his second gold medal of the day in the men's team pursuit. The team, captained by David Simmonite, absolutely smoked the quartet from Kenmoria in the final. Perhaps it's no surprise, really; after all, it's in the pursuit that the Krytenians truly excel. To prove the point, the next race - the women's team pursuit - produced another gold medal. The Krytenian foursome looked pretty cool and calm in their semi - not that they had to be otherwise, as their opponents were disqualified for a push - and left the Kenmorian team (hmm...I think we've found our new Sorthern Northland!) in their dust in the final.

Of course, it wasn't all gold. No disrespect to Anthony Sampaolo, who had a long day in the keirin, but in the end he was just short of the gold, having to settle for silver instead. All this has catapulted the Krytenians into second place in the medal table, neatly sandwiched between the two host nations. One feels that we haven't heard the last blast of Celesta at these championships.

A Transcript of the RadioDunnes Coverage of the Men's Kerin Final:

And here we go its the men’s kern final of these championships, and from the inside out its Gill, Morse, Russell, Wright, Morris and Sampaolo.

That’s the gun and they’re off, and its a packed field, as the roll out behind the moto. And at the beginning it’s Morse, followed by Russell, followed by Wright, Gill, Sampaolo and Morris.

They’re carefully winding it up behind the moto before it pulls off with two and a half to go.

Russell right behind the moto as the lead bike picks up the speed, and as the tension follows.

And they come by 3 laps to go and there’s some jostling as the bike is going to come off the track in a few seconds, and here we go, the moto is off the track and it’s Morse cheered on by the home crowd, who makes the first move, and its chaos as they are riding four across with two laps to go, but Sampaolo from Krytenia is quick to respond, and he’s followed by Gill, Morris, Wright and Russell.

They’re all in a line as we go around the bend with about 300m to go. Morse is really winding it up, but its Sampaolo on his wheel still, as we come through to the bell lap, and they’re all jostling for position as they line up onto the backstretch, and it’s JULES GILL WHOS MADE A MOVE, AND HE’S COME FROM THE BACK AND INTO THE LEAD ON THE FINAL TURN, SAMPAOLO IS TRYING TO COME THOUGH BUT ITS GILL, GILL, GILL, GILL, GILL, GILL GETS THE GOLD FOR DUNNES, SAMPAOLO FROM KRYTENIA gets the silver, and MORSE, the early leader gets the bronze. OH MY!

Kenmorian sport

Bringing you the latest sporting news all day, every day

There has been amazing successes recently, which has included a new championship record! Many great successses, including numerous bronze medals and a few higher placements. This has had the result of jettisoning planning Kenmoria into one of its best positions in the positioning table so far; coming in 3rd with West Princess below and Krytenia above. This feat has become even more impressive as Kenmoria also managed to come 5th in the medal table, beating several other countries.

Kenmoria remains in a good position for the championships but only time will tell if this remains constant.

Hello! I’m a GAer and NS Roleplayer from the United Kingdom.
My pronouns are he/him.
Any posts that I make as GenSec will be clearly marked as such and OOC. Conversely, my IC ambassador in the General Assembly is Ambassador Fortier. I’m always happy to discuss ideas about proposals, particularly if grammar or wording are in issue. I am also Executive Deputy Minister for the WA Ministry of TNP.
Kenmoria is an illiberal yet democratic nation pursuing the goals of communism in a semi-effective fashion. It has a very broad diplomatic presence despite being economically developing, mainly to seek help in recovering from the effect of a recent civil war. Read the factbook here for more information; perhaps, I will eventually finish it.

With the III Cycling World Championships slowly winding down West Phoenician sports pundits are happy with the 11 medals so far. With some more opportunities it is quite possible to obtain the 15 medals they were hoping for.

The end of the III Cycling World Championships also brings great news to a number of the winners. Any international championship that a West Phoenician obtains a medal for is under the new West Phoenician Olympic guidelines granted a sport on the West Phoenician Olympic team without having to try out.

Among the lucky cycling stars who will make an appearance at the next Olympic games will be;

• Count Whiskey Catt who will obtain on the slots in the Men's Bmx.

• Leah Overland who will slide into a slot in the Women's BMX.

• Marc Black who will be entered under the Mens Mountain Bike.

• Baroness Ivy Luckwood and Colleen Murphy who have secured a spot in the Women's Maddison.

These cycling winners will join the pre-selected Men's Water Polo team who have won back to back world Championships and are preparing to fight for their third

“Damn I thought we were supposed to medal in the Madison.” remarked Neilson Powers to Danny Wilmer as he glanced at the results of the Men’s Madison on his phone.
The duo were waiting at the top of one of the many short punchy climbs on the time trial course, for the two other Dunians in the Men’s time trial, Brandon Nickmau, and Jack Maddux. The duo they were waiting for, were experimenting with gear ratios on this tricky course, and Power and Wilmer could tell by the grimace of Nickmau’s face that whatever gears he had in the back were off by quite a bit. He was right ahead of Maddux, who was fighting his carbon fiber machine, coaxing it up the hill.
When the trailing pair finally reached the summit of the grade, Powers broke the news to them as well.

“We didn’t even Podium in the Madison.” He remarked.

“What?” Remarked Maddux.

“Jules and Will finished in like 8th or something.” Remarked Powers back.

“Didn’t Jules win the Kerin and the Team Sprint?” added Nickmau.

“Something must have happened, there’s no way they bomb like that.” said Wilmer.

“Ah, it doesn’t matter right now, let’s just finish the bloody course.” said and obviously fatigued Nickmau.

“Oh ok we’ll just catch the replay at the hotel.” said Powers.

The team car following them then came alongside, and stopped besides them.

“Let’s go gentlemen, still got 15 k left.” Remarked the mechanic in the passengers seat.

Despite currently winning 14 medals at the III Cycling World Championships in Liventia and Dunnes, West Phoenician Minister of Olympic Sports and the West Phoenician Olympic Committee have voted against increasing the budget of the Cycling delegation.

"We applaud the fine our cycling delegation has done in Liventia and Dunnes but the fact is the West Phoenician Olympic budget is set. After a successful last Olympics which saw the nation pull in 62 medals alot of sports have been viewed for increased funding. Cycling only contributed to 3 medals.
While we have some great cyclists money needs to be allocated to those sports such as Swimming, Athletics, Equestrian and Boxing that pull in more viewers and sponsors."Baron Callum DeVine, Minister of Olympic Sports said.

As the III Cycling World Championships comes to a close at best we may obtain 2 more medals. Liventia has done a fantastic job on their home soil of course but for the West Phoenician Cycling team to be given more funding they really needed to have chipped away at Liventia and Krytenia medal wins which they have failed too do.
We of course will be sending a full Cycling delegation to the next Olympics made up of some champions of this event. In which an improvement of double medal haul in Cycling will need to be reached if they wish to see an increase in their funding. "

Irvin Falk ready to ride in Road Race Championship

Irvin Falk, reigning Silver Medalist in the Men's Road Race from the 12th Summer Olympics in Kelssek and Vekaiyu, appears to be in prime condition for the upcoming race here in Liventia. After months of preparation leading up to these World Championships, Falk, along with his teammates, will be looking to sweep the podium in Darmeni cycling fans favorite event. Falk also finished in the Top 15 of the Olympic Time Trial, and will look to replicate that again here in Orean.

Following his Olympic accomplishments however, it looked as though Falk was finishing up his career. Suffering tendinitis in both his knees only a week after the conclusion of the Olympic cycling schedule, Falk was unable to participate in the Closing Ceremony. After four months of recovery and speculation about the future of his career, the 31 year old Falk surprised many by returning to practice with the Darmeni National Cycling Performance Program (DNCPP). Despite appearing to be more than prepared, there are some fears that Falk will not be fully recovered following the Time Trial, and his performance in the Road Race may suffer as a result.

Regardless of how well Falk does over the final two days of the World Championships, Darmen has performed well in its debut. Through Day 9, Darmen has won 11 medals, five of them Gold, and currently sits in fifth place of the Overall Team standings, one point ahead of co-hosts Dunnes. If only one further medal is won over the next two days, the World Championships will still be considered a success by Darmeni cycling and sporting authorities.

OREAN, LIVENTIA- Dunnes swept the gold medals in the individual time trial at the Cycling World Championships yesterday, with Jack Maddux taking gold in the men's competition, and Rebecca Naughton taking gold in the women's competition. Maddux won by over twenty seconds on a hilly course that started outside of town and finished at the Grover's Park stadium. Holding back in the beginning part of the race, Maddux unleashed over the last 20km, moving up from fourth at the first time check to the top of the podium at the end of the race. Naughton employed a different strategy, getting up to nineteen seconds ahead at the midway check, before winning by less than three seconds.

"I knew the climbs at the beginning would take a toll on those who went out to strong, and maybe were too excited about racing at such an event." said Maduxx, wearing the rainbow jersey at the post race press conference. "I thought we prepared well, really analyzing where we could take time back later in the race, and I think that strategy worked well." he continued.

Compared to Maduxx, Naughton was ecstatic about holding on by the skin of her teeth. "Oh my goodness, I don't know where to start," she remarked after the race. "I really thought I had it after being up by that much, but then I kept getting splits from the team car that just kept dropping, but thankfully I was able to pull through for the win, I'm just so so so so pleased right now."

The riders in the men's race set out on a rather pleasant day in Orean to be greeted by multiple climbs with pitches in the double digits on there way in to the Stratham neighborhood of Liventia's capital city. Aaron Townsville of West Phoenicia was the early leader posting a time of 1:13:02, and would hold onto the bronze medal. One of the medal contenders from Dunnes, Neilson Powers also had an early start time, and was looking to play into contention, but crashed on the short descent of the final climb before the finish, when his chain became lodged in his front derailleur.

"Jeez that was scary, I was going so fast, but then my crank just locked up, and I was on the tarmac. Thankfully I'm ok and was able to get back on and get going again, but I'm quite sore, and disappointing I wasn't able to join Jack on the podium." remarked a visibly fatigued Powers, while cooling down after his race.

By the time Maddux went through the halfway checkpoint it was clear that it was going to be between him, Townsville, Joseph Casey of Krytenia and the home favorite, Charlie Huws, for the medals. Maddux had an unanswerable push however in the last half of the race, accelerating over the final climb like a man possessed.

"He was a complete cannibal out there." said an exuberant team coach Niels Cleveland. "He just ate up the competition with both his power and his cycling iq."

By the time Maddux came into the home straight outside of Grover Park Stadium, the race was a done deal as he finished in 1:12:24, 25 seconds ahead of Huws, and 38 ahead of Townsville.

Maddux and Powers will continue their run at the podium tomorrow in the Men's Elite Road Race, where they will be joined by Brandon Nickmau, Danny Wilmer, Jermey Lopez, and Dylan Caban.

The Women's Elite Road Race is also tomorrow where Naughton will be joined by Alex Cross, Sarah Cross, Autumn North, Kirsten Stevens, and Jackie Rose. Maddux and Naughton will look to feature in their respective races but also watch out for Powers, Wilmer, and North. Tomorrow's road races will conclude the competition, and while Dunnes is guaranteed to be outside the top two positions in the team standings, there is still a very slight chance that they could catch West Phoenicia.

Kenmorian sport

Bringing you the latest sporting news all day, every day

Today has been a slow day for Kenmoria sport as the recent world cycling championships saw no major successes or rankings. In all four events taking place no athletes placed in the top five, and several, such as Jay Mitchell and Jack Cox, didn't even finish their respective events. The aforementioned failure was due to an incident where Hay, a blind cyclist, couldn't here his guide over another and, as a result, sadly crashed into a tree.

This has led to a disappointing ranking as Kenmoria is currently placed only sixth in the rankings, still impressive but nowhere near the high ranking team KEN attained earlier. However, there are a few events left to run that could prove decisive in determining final rankings.

The Organising Committee for the Road Cycling World Championships can now confirm the final routes for the men's and women's road races, after a minor change to the plan for the men's road race while maintaining the same race distance.

Both races will begin in Madford with a circuit that takes in a climb to the town's old quarry.

The women's road race then heads into Orean following the same route as the men's individual time trial.

The men's road race does the same, and while the original plan was to simply loop to City Hall and back twice for the remaining 80 km or so, organisers have now decided to send the cyclists on a sightseeing tour around the capital, passing notable landmarks including the Park Central Oval cricket ground and the famous Polarian Gardens botanical site, as well as the oldest baseball ground in the country. This part of the race does not feature a climb above 5% and should allow the sprinters back into position if they were dropped on the earlier climbs on the course.

Day 11 results
Both races took place on the same day over much of the same course, with the women's start at 9 am and the men's departure at 11:30 am to ensure there would be no cross-over of riders that could affect each other's races.
