The Origins of Sport in Isula Reale (RP open to all)

Aroldo Cisternino's intentions seemed pure. As the richest person in Isula Reale, he felt an obligation to do more to better society. And of course, as the richest person in Isula Reale, he felt an obligation to profit from it somehow if at all possible, because rich people tend to not be particularly altruistic. Still, he knew the public loved watching foreign sport on television but had no real local sports heroes to look up to. So, he used his connections to set up a meeting with some leaders in the recreational sports community to discuss the possibility of funding a professional league.
Camille Boveri had visited the Babbage Islands during the Galactic Plate of community football (sometimes called Target) and fell in love with the sport. However, without any facilities or really any way to keep up with it, she saw this opportunity to finally get the resources to build the sport in Isula Reale. Her pitch to Mr. Cisternino was clear- Isula Reale was in a unique position to both become a global leader in a sport that is inclusive and not especially dangerous. While community football doesn't have considerable international popularity at the moment, there's also not a major league to attract what talent exists, and high quality foreign players would be role models for young locals. Yes, the best place to invest money to make Isula Reale relevant globally in sport would be in Community Football!
Of course, the will of the public isn't going to be on the side of Community Football, a sport that's not on TV in Isula Reale and that the vast majority of the public has never heard of. The obvious choice is association football, and that was the pitch of Salomé Pesaresi. Sure, every country in the world plays it, so it'll be hard to break into the high levels of the World Cup and the International Leagues, but think about how globally relevant a country like Vilita or Valladares or Valanora is! Well, we can be that too with a solid investment into association football. Why, such an investment would basically pay for itself!
