2140 SEASON SEASONAL NOTES
- Another season of the top basketball league at the Hinodejin Empire saw some changes at the standings. The Sunshine Conference saw last season's champions Mugenishima Islanders and Conference Finalists Raimunejima Thunder reach the playoffs again, but with the company of the Hapurona Tropics (who toppled both the Sebiishima Nature, who played the playoffs last season and the rebounding Uranai Déesses) and the Maniwa Sharks (runners-up to the Islanders at the Sunset Division).
- Meanwhile, the Moonlight Conference saw the rebranded Kibominami Falcons (former Kibominami Chiefs), the Moshika Saints and the Soshi Rockets qualify to the playoffs. The Windbenders dropped out, being replaced by the Penashiga Chiefs, the team more or less responsible for the team from the Cape of Good Hope's rebrand.
OTHER NEWS
- The National High School Tournament saw a surprise champion as the Corona Girls out of West Mashu HS took the title after beating fellow unknowns from Raimon Central HS. The champions of the past three seasons, Senso-Shukujo Ladies HS found themselves eliminated at the National Round of 16 against West Mashu as well.
- The All-Hinode University Tournament had to undergo changes thanks to the Conference system employed by some of the top institutions of the Empire. Alas, that meant that most schools out of the Main Hinodejin Island were deemed as Independents, stifling the schedules of pretty much all teams.
Their Playoffs saw Asakawa College (champions of the Big Island Conference, featuring teams from all over the Main Island), Tsutsuji University (champions of the Kitsune Conference, one that features a myriad of Tsutsuji-based institutions), Zatanna Magical Institute (Magical League champions, self-explanatory name), Higashigumi University (Southern Conference champions, featuring schools from the former border daimyos), Somei-Yoshino State University (Sunrise Conference champions, the league for teams from Somei-Yoshino) and KOS-MOS Technological Institute (champions of the Sunshine Conference, a league focused at schools especially from Kameria, Himawari and Sakurahana), plus Mido-Hinode University (deemed the best of the Independents) take to the court. KOS-MOS ended up national champions.
- The Street Hoops Invitational was hosted at Kawasuki, Nashihana. Of note, the tournament itself was dominated by a myriad of Cyborg and Golem squads, raising the question over whether or not such a tournament should remain open to all sorts of players.
