The Eagle's Club is proud to present Eagles Cup, a modern era re-incarnation of the historic Eagle's Cup. 16* esteemed nations from throughout the multiverse will compete over 9 Matchdays* to lift the Eagle's Cup and earn their place in the Eagle's Club, securing their place as a competitor and potential host in future Eagle's Cups.

Format :: The 16 nations will be split into 4 groups of 4 teams. In each group, the 4 teams will play each other nation twice, once at a stadium of their choosing and once at a stadium of their opponents choosing. From there, the top 2 nations in each group table will advance to the Quarter Finals which will be held at an official Eagle's Club location. The winners of the Quarter Final matches will receive a special trophy from the Eagle's Club that also grants the nations honorary status with the Eagle's Club for one competition cycle. The final four nations will advance to the Semi-Finals and then those winners to the Championship match, where the winner will be crowned champion and granted entry into the Eagle's Club. A third place playoff will also be contested back at the Eagle's Club.

The Eagle's Club shall fill these slots with Non-Member nations by means of Selection, Invitation or Application as necessary to fill the field.

Should the previous cycles Eagle's Cup semi-finalists include Eagle's Club members, or, should any of the previous cycles Eagle's Cup Semi-Finalists fail to send a delegation to the Eagle's Cup, the Eagle's Club Semi-Finalist's allocation to the Cup shall be reduced accordingly. LLAMANEAN NATIONAL TEAM ROSTER - Eagle's Cup VII
Manager - Curtis Steeling (ETN)

A solid showing at the World Cup was followed up by the Tigers' best-ever tournament run, as the Llamanean national team managed to win the entire tournament. Curtis Steeling's tactics appear to be working, and Super-Llamaland may be ready to return to the knockout rounds of the World Cup. The Eagle's Cup is a solid chance for Steeling to continue to refine his new system and show that the CE victory wasn't just a fluke.

First-Choice XI

Goalkeepers

#01 - Lukas BERNHOLM - Kiiarana City (VIL) - 30
Not an acrobatic shot-stopper or particularly aggressive, but a solid keeper who rarely makes mistakes, is strong aerially (not just because of his imposing height), and is known for being a strong locker-room presence who leaves everything on the field. Strong with distribution and a consistently decent keeper, but overtaken by Sheffield’s play.

#13 - Markus SHEFFIELD - Chenoworth Harriers (NPH) - 29
Known for being able to stop a disproportionate amount of penalties, Sheffield is very athletic. Still extremely aggressive, but rounded out a bit in Chromatika over two seasons with Depri Sanar before being forced out of the nation. He’s landed on his feet, however, and in the Nepharim leagues, where he’s thrived, setting him up for a chance to regularly start for the Tigers.

#23 - Nicholas LINDBERG - Maximum Rovers (NPH) - 31
Taking the place of the more talented but rawer Marcos Santana, the veteran Nicholas Lindberg has found his way back into the national team proper after a few years overlooked for more exciting keepers. Indeed, Lindberg isn't exactly exciting or new, but he is an excellent shot-stopper who's great under pressure and against set-pieces, and that's pretty valuable as well.

Defenders

#02 - L/CB - Adrian LINDBERG - Real Azuris (COS) - 34 [C]
Captain. Leader. Champion’s Cup winner with Real Azuris. Adrian Lindberg has quickly become one of the best Llamaneans in the world. His athleticism is remarkable, he's high in stamina, and he has a natural gift for positioning. Not only that, but he’s also polished himself well, and rarely makes mistakes. Someone that was named the nation's best college player consecutive years and who has grown into his potential. They’ll miss him.

#03 - CB - Kurt REICHART - Francisca Orient (BRE) - 32
Orient may have gone down, but at least the six-four, physical center-back had a solid season. Even then, the former starter is clearly declining, and has already yielded to Wagner in the starting lineup.

#06 - CB - Emily YNOA - Brookport Otters (NPH) - 29
A quick, classy center-back who's willing to sacrifice her body to stop shots and make tackles. A smart player with strong positioning and a knack for anticipating passes. Also a strong man-marker, and overall a perfect fit for Explosive Football.

#14 - LB - Luke SVENSSON - Lammerton (SCT) - 24
Exceptionally athletic and even more polished than he was as a teenager starting for the Tigers, Svensson is widely expected to start this World Cup cycle. Despite some doubts over whether he could stand up to the pressure, Svensson has entrenched himself into Lammerton's starting lineup as a dangerous two-way fullback with his athleticism, finesse, and composure.

#16 - RB - Francesca ABEL - Emerald City Harmony - 25
Came out of nowhere to become one of Harmony’s best players at right wingback. More conservative than Van Dijk, her competition for a starting spot, but an excellent defender whose passing makes her invaluable to Steeling’s Explosive Football.

#20 - L/RB - Kris STRAUSBERG - FC London (RKQ) - 32
An exceptionally unique player. For one thing, after a horrific bus crash suffered when he was sixteen, he no longer has a left arm. For another thing, he’s extremely fast, but tends to leverage this into making bold runs up either flank rather than actually keeping up with the opponent's’ attackers. Still, his strong on-ball play and passable marking make him a valuable asset.

#24 - L/CB - Emily GUSTAV - Emerald City Harmony - 24
A fairly polished young defender who’s managed to break into the first team of Harmony at a very young age. Capable of going forwards as well, although she can’t do much in the air.

#27 - RB/CB - Jonathan VAN DIJK - FC Endeavor (APX) - 23
Van Dijk showed immense potential at the Di Bradini Cup, his speed and agility enabling him to bomb forwards and embarrass opposing players who try to stop him, and he’s solid defensively too. Shocked everyone with a move to Apox. Has a chance to start, but is still a little unpolished and will yield to Abel for now.

MIDFIELDERS

#05 - DM - Ethan CANDELARIO - New Llama Capitals - 32
A bruising, physical defensive midfielder who Steeling will count on to keep things secure at the back. After a relatively long stint at Goodfeather FC, he returned to SuperLleague and immediately won a league title holding down the fort for the Capitals. Rumored to be retiring after the next World Cup.

#08 - CM - Damian BAO - Easthaven Centurion - 21
The youth team revelation is absolutely tireless, but at the same time is one of the fastest players on the team. His positioning and vision make him an expert at filling the role Ryan Reagan wanted him to fill for the U21s, but his penchant for landing accurate long-passes and his athleticism will make him a perfect fit for Explosive Football as well. Has made the jump to starting exceptionally quickly, and everyone has him pegged to be a massive success as a SuperLleague rookie.

#17 - CM - Jason SANTANA - Rosaria (ESH) - 30
Santana has had his share of issues off the field, including drug problems exacerbated by the fact that...he plays in Eshan. A somewhat quick, technically adept midfielder whose calling card is his stamina and strong positioning. Could get a shot at a starting position, but he’ll need to work even harder now that Bao has arrived.

#20 - CAM - Stefan RINALDI - New Llama Stars - 25
Rinaldi hasn’t managed to make the next step and become a consistent star for club or country, and he may be regretting his decision to leave Kyrinson for the Stars. No matter how dubious his work-rate though, he has a unique ability to scan an opposing defense and make the perfect pass, even if he’s poor under pressure and better deployed in a slower-paced match.

#21 - CM/CAM/RW - Elias MØLLER - Samaj FC (COS) - 24
While Möller is half-Llamanean, nobody expected the young Dinamo star to play for anyone but the Arondic national team, making his call up a huge surprise. It could be important, too - the teenager has already shown flashes of brilliance both as a winger and an advanced playmaker, and he possesses both strength and speed in buckets. Still a little bit raw, especially with his finishing, but could be a star. His athleticism and creativity have already launched him into the starting lineup.

#28 - DM/CM - Ryan CARMICHAEL - New Llama Stars - 30
A solid holding midfielder who's lost much of the athleticism that got him onto the U21 team but not the passing range and field vision that make him an attacking threat even as a holding midfielder. A decent ball-winner with strong positioning, but he won't offer much in either box.

Forwards
#07 - LW/LM - Eva VELASQUEZ - Eastweald (COS) - 26
Velasquez is fast, agile, and possesses impeccable technique. However, while one would expect Velasquez, who trained in AC Bartolome's academy for three years, to adopt a flashier playstyle, she's instead far more direct and focused - although she can use tricks to get out of a pinch, she'll rarely use them if she doesn't have to. A decent distributor who developed a fantastic free-kick at Myana before making the move to Eastweald, where she’s now reaching her peak as a winger.

#09 - ST - Sophia TREVELYAN - Klyde (COS) - 29
A dual citizen who made history in 2014 by becoming the first woman to play in Eastham’s top tier, and since then she’s excelled at every challenge she’s faced. A strong playmaker, quick and agile enough to set up her own chances; decent enough at finishing to score off said chances, but also versatile enough to play as a False Nine. Trevelyan may play in the Sekundar Ligan, but she’s one of the most underrated players on this team.

#10 - ST - Ansel PENBROOKE - Bishop (NPH) - 31 [VC]
Considered the heir to Cartwright’s throne, Penbrooke has possibly surpassed his predecessor as the greatest Llamanean striker to ever play for the national team. Patistan offered him forty million dollars and he declined to head over to one of the best youth teams in the world. Penbrooke is very athletic, and maturation in Apox, Vilita, and now Nephara have turned his potential and talent into a top-notch striker. Expected to continue leading the line for years to come.

#11 - AM - Miroslav VOROBYOV - FC Samotath (COS) - 32
Vorobyov has excelled in Cosumar with Samotath, and his quick, incisive presence, intelligence with the ball, and ability to break defenses with his runs makes him best on the flanks or as a WC74 Felix Rasmussen-esque free-floating CAM. Not very strong, but exceptionally agile and creative, and his thin frame hides a fierce long-distance shot.

#18 - L/RW - Annalisa SIGURDSSON - New Llama Stars - 24
It’s taken him a while, but Steeling has finally found Eva Velasquez a backup in Annalisa Sigurdsson. A direct, incisive winger who can play on either wing, Sigurdsson is best-known for her free=kick prowess. Definitely has enough quality to start, even if Velasquez is blocking her at the moment.

#36 - ST/RW - Carsten VINCENT - Northern Stallions (BRE) - 24
Vincent is a top-notch winger who scored eleven goals in twenty league games in his first full season with Stars - the twenty-one-year-old has an excellent finishing touch and is known for his athleticism. Could break into the starting lineup very soon.

RP Permissions: Goalscorers/lineup/cards are fine, TG me before godmodding, I determine severity of injuries

National Information

Name: The Fiefdom of Cosumar

Government: Cosumar is a Fiefdom divided into 21 historical 'Fiefs' (jurisdictions of power in ancient feudal Cosumar) that essentially now function as provinces. Cosumar's government is an executive constitutional monarchy, which means that the crown does wield significant governing power but is limited therein by a Constitution and Royal Congress. Cosumarite society is dedicated to complete rights and respect for all sentient beings, advancement of science, conservation of nature and space exploration. Cosumar has the highest Human Development Index in Atlantian Oceania according to WA Census, and is in the Top 1% of the world's Most Developed, Cultured and Intelligent nations. King James II has continued Cosumar's tradition of encouraging technological progress and immigration while simultaneously maintaining our diverse natural features and unique culture.

Region: Atlantian Oceania (far Northeast | COCANEFA)

Nicknames: Primarily Vanquishers (since WC 72) or, traditionally, Azure Dragons

Colors: Navy, Royal Blue, Silver, White

Stadium: Farris Crowley Memorial World Cup Stadium at The Royal Palace (capacity 105,000)
Image
This shiny new behemoth was built specifically to host the World Cup 78 Final (...and become the first stadium in Cosumar to hold 100,000). Mouthful of a name aside (it's already becoming known simply as "Crowley Memorial"), the stadium is a beacon of Cosumarite efficiency. Sleek, simple and elegant in design, bathed in gold to match the King's own decadent residential palace just a block away. The regular tenants are the club King James owns: four-time HL champions OAS Royal FC. It is named after Farris Crowley, who served as the manager of the national team for nearly 40 years and took Cosumar to its first seven World Cups and died shortly before its completion.

Ramusok itself? It's the capital city. Home of the royal family, King's Congress and 14 million others. Epicenter of historic dynasties. Bastion of knowledge and creativity. Young and eccentric, yet clean and elegant. Ramusok is the crown jewel of Cosumar, the pinnacle of a thousand years of Cosumarite civilization. There are centuries-old libraries and museums everywhere. Yet Ramusok also boasts some of the most stunning abstract modern architecture in the world, coexisting with the ancient in harmonic balance. Just see the all-glass resorts and offices overlooking the water on Azure Lane. The nightlife is extravagant thanks to the young and "hip" population (Ramusok Capital University definitely contributes). Make sure to catch some of the live music at night - there are venues specifically dedicated to genres ranging from black metal to indie pop to avant-garde jazz. As a multiversal city, people and species of all kinds congregate here, though the city does still retain a strong Swedish component leftover from the old Albertsson dynasty - evident in many of the place names. Pleasantly moderate for much of the year, though there are four definite seasons.

FA: Fiefdom Soccer Federation (FSF), headqurtered in Kaldukosic, Cosumar

Team History

Snapshot: Cosumar made its international debut in World Cup 51 and Finals debut in World Cup 54. In World Cup 73, new manager Gethin Ramsey built on the momentum from winning the preceding Cup of Harmony to qualify Cosumar for the first time since World Cup 62, ending a miserable 20-year drought. Since, the Vanquishers have advanced to five consecutive World Cup knockout rounds and three Quarterfinals. With the program now reestablished as a contender and hosting the big event for the first time, expectations are higher than ever. A first ever trip to the semifinals is the goal.

Expanded History: Cosumar qualified for six consecutive World Cups (54-59) in its original "golden age" of soccer, going out twice in the group stage and then four times in the Round of 16. After World Cup 59, Cosumar reached its peak ranking of #7 in the world. The National Team began a gradual decline in World Cups 60 & 61, in which they were eliminated in the Qualification Playoffs despite strong campaigns. They would qualify once again for World Cup 62 in Astograth, but the downward trajectory had already set in. World Cups 64-66 were particularly bleak and saw our once-elite ranking dip as low as the 80s. Many demanded the sacking of Farris Crowley, manager since WC54, the glory days of his tenure a distant memory. But the FSF stuck with him, and Cosumar began re-emerging as a force to be reckoned with around World Cup 68. A marvelous crop of young talent (Francois Renault, Alexander Pearce, etc.) now lovingly referred to as the "Renaissance Generation" started to restore the former honor to the Dragonshirt. They led several increasingly competitive Qualifying and Cup of Harmony campaigns...though they never did manage to return to the biggest stage. They came so close time and time again, but Margaret was never on their side. Their generation's swansong ended up being 3rd place at Cup of Harmony 62. But then the next cycle, World Cup 72, was a rough transition and threatened to erase all the momentum. It was a colossal disaster. The worst campaign since Cosumar's WC51 debut. Eight draws against lower-ranked sides. Farris Crowley was finally sacked after 40 years. Nephara legend Gethin Ramsey arrived and salvaged Cosumar's ranking by winning the subsequent Cup of Harmony. Ramsey continued to work wonders afterwards, leading his "Vanquishers" to five consecutive World Cup Finals (73-77), including our best-ever finish (Quarterfinals) three times. The Cosumarite game continued to grow in Ramsey's wake. For the first time, Cosumar won the right to host the World Cup for the 78th edition and new manager Alexander Pearce led the team on a run, once again, to the Quarterfinals. With a talent pool deeper than any time in our history, he was then subsequently able to break Cosumar's long-standing curse in regional competition, winning AOCAF LIV. On a trophy high, the group now looks toward the first full Qualifying cycle under Pearce with extreme optimism.

Most glorious moments:

Cosumar 4-0 Haginonia - World Cup 54 Interzonal Stage - Showdown on the final day of Qualifying with both sides' first World Cup berth at stake: we rolled.
Cosumar 1-0 Sarzonia - World Cup 57 MD3 - Cosumar advances to its first Round of 16 at Sarzonia's expense.
Cosumar 7-3 Kagdazka & Pazhujebu - World Cup 60 Qualification Playoff - Brutal revenge against K&P for ousting us on penalties in the previous World Cup's Round of 16.
Cosumar 5-1 The Sarian - Cup of Harmony 64 Finals - Ramsey and the newly-christened "Vanquishers" propel Cosumar to lift a first WCC trophy.
Valanora 2–2 Cosumar (3–3 AET) (7–8 pen.) - World Cup 73 Round of 16 - After splitting the series in group play, we triumphed over the Elves to claim our first ever Quarterfinals.
Cosumar 2-2 Eshan (2-2 AET) (6-5 pen.) - AOCAF LIV Final - After three consecutive extra time wins to get to our first AOCAF Semifinals and Final, we took home the elusive regional trophy with yet another helping of late drama.

Most heartbreaking moments:
Cosumar 1-1 (1-1 AET, 3-4 PKs) Churchma - Cup of Harmony 45 Semifinals - Losing on penalties always hurts, especially when it's to your oldest rival so deep in a tourney.
Cosumar 0-3 Sorthern Northland - World Cup 55 MD3 - It came down to this match for a spot in the Ro16, and we got our asses kicked.
Cosumar 2-4 Sorthern Northland - World Cup 56 Round of 16 - We finally made it to the knockout rounds for the first time, just to be humbled by these guys again.
Cosumar 1-4 Jeru FC - World Cup 57 Round of 16 - Another drubbing in the Ro16.
Cosumar 0-4 The Babbage Islands - World Cup 58 Round of 16 - New Cup, same story. Dragons fall apart in the knockouts.
Cosumar 3-3 (3-3 AET, 2-4 PKs) Kagdazka & Pazhujebu - World Cup 59 Round of 16 - This is THE match that haunts the dreams of every Cosumarite to this day. We had rolled through our Qualification and World Cup groups in dominant fashion - completely undefeated. It was the greatest Cosumarite team ever assembled, seeming destined for new heights. In the Ro16, the Dragons led the Urchins 3-0 late and celebrations had already begun. But Chalia Sajid scored a flurry of goals for an unlikely hat trick in final 15 minutes to force extra time. In the eventual shootout, we would completely choke, badly missing the target twice. Complete and utter shock. Many wandered if Cosumar would EVER be able to advance to the quarterfinals and exorcise these demons. It took nearly 30 years.
Cosumar 0-0 (0-2 AET) Unified Sunrise Islands - World Cup 75 Quarterfinals - On the brink of our first ever semifinals appearance, we are sunk by a Kevin Stabb brace in extra time to lose our chance to play for a WC medal. This "cinematic" USI team, which came out of nowhere, would go on to win the whole thing, leaving Cosumarites wondering what could've been.
Cosumar 2-2 (2-3 AET) Chromatika - World Cup 76 Quarterfinals - Cosumarites come agonizingly close to tasting the semifinals once again. The Vanquishers twice give up their lead and fall in extra time despite Chromatika going down to ten men and infamously moving one of their star attackers to goalkeeper in desperation. Pure torture. The match that made Chromatika our greatest modern rivals.

Most Goals: 104 - Sur Arora (WC 63-72)
Most Assists: 77 - Irvinn Rincon (WC 51-56)
Most Caps: 210 - Anders Engström (WC 67-77)

Team Information

Style Modifier: +2.3

Post-WC78 Ranking: #15 (KPB 33.11)

Formation: 4-3-1-2
Alexander Pearce is entering his first full normal cycle in charge, and will continue the more attacking approach he initiated in the AOCAF with a 4-3-1-2 that essentially functions like a 4-3-3 but with one of the strikers dropping back to play in the hole as a true #10 behind the other two. It will be a competition to fill that crucial role between established Rozelle playmaker Alora Heher and rising Cornellians wunderkind Isla Sibučić. Pearce essentially crafted this formation around the two prized assets, hoping to maximize their talents.

Tactical Breakdown: The play tends to flow somewhat narrow through this formation, with most chances being worked through the center rather than channeling it wide and just pumping in crosses like we did so often under Ramsey. This is ideal because of Heher and Sibučić's instincts pulling strings in the middle, and because top striker Valgard is a much better finisher with his feet than his head, although Zeale-Riddick and Ruhl are good in the air. When the ball is won in the defensive half, the immediate outlet is then usually Stig Söderquist in the middle instead of always finding the wingers like we traditionally did. LM Bellerophon Serafino covers crazy ground and can also materialize in the middle to receive an outlet before quickly drifting back out to the left. The three-person midfield line can then choose to combine laterally with each other or find one of the three attacking players ahead of them. When they play directly to a striker up top, that sets up the magic situation: the striker can play to the feet of Heher/Sibučić 20 meters from goal, then make a cutting run to receive the ball back in on goal or create space for the other striker. Pearce has been working his young attacking corps relentlessly on these combinations this week. If defenses crowd and overcommit to the CAM in response, that's when the Vanquishers can bring the LM/RM/LB/RB forward and flex some width. This formation does, however, place a lot of strain on the LCM and RCM. They need to provide width in the final third, but then get back and squeeze narrower as the first line of pressure in the case of an opposition counter. Fortunately, work rate is a particular strength of Serafino and Kit Kvanderwyk. In essence, the "up the spine" play style actually funnels the opposing team into the center of park and makes the wide players all the more dangerous when the play does calls for them. A by-product of the “funneling” idea is that it forces the opponents to play narrow as well and therefore makes it easier to defend against them if that is not their usual style.

Note on Vloo: The roster consists of 23 players, 22 of whom are standard humans. The other player (defender Bacary Na'Kale) is of the Vloo people (species homo cosumarensis), a humanoid race native to Cosumar. Vloo are, on average, two inches taller than humans (which admittedly can come in handy on set pieces), and they must use different footwear due to their foot structure. Vloo have blue-tinted skin, two small black horns protruding from their foreheads, and spiky spines that be visibly seen from the back of their head/neck for some. And tails. They are distinguished by their surnames, with typically begin with prefixes such as Na', Va' or Vu'. Since World Cup 51, there has always been at least one Vloo player in the squad, but never more than four.

Cosumar's current kits were prepared for the team by Meski Soccer & Sports Store of Red Blackiland before the World Cup 75 cycle, our 50th anniversary in international competition. The design has been applauded by for improving upon the already-brilliant kits that served us from WC 71-74, while still staying true to the spirit of the beloved WC 54-69 classic kits. The home and away kits make heavy use of the national colours (blue, white, silver) and the majestic Cosumarite Azure Dragon that these lands are famous for. The goalkeeper kit features hints of the royal family's colors: Green and Gold.

First-Choice Starting XI

Goalkeeper - Balbulus Grimwade - 29 - Image Ramsissil Image
A quietly brilliant goalkeeper who has long deserved more than the sporadic call-ups he has received. He impressed Alexander Pearce as Jakk Winterfyll's back-up throughout the victorious AOCAF campaign and earned his chance to now make his first international starts. Winterfyll is still immovable as Cosumar's #1, but the 35-year-old has been given permission to skip this tournament in preparation for the upcoming A-League season. Grimwade is perennially underrated due to his autism and deceptively chubby face, which overshadow his rare quickness to surface-level observers. But those who know their stuff will recall just how huge he was for OAS Royal at such a young age. His last year in Ramusok, he allowed only 1.01 goals per match and finished in the top five in HL Player of the Year voting. He has been one of the most consistent performers in the V-League ever since, including a year as the top-rated keeper in all of Vilita, keeping a struggling side afloat with his saves.

Left Back - Bacary Na'Kale - 26 - Image Mâ Âlâmëómë Image
After cracking the Cassandra City first team on his 18th birthday and outshining established players, Na'Kale became the subject of a sudden rainfall of foreign bids. Mâ Âlâmëómë won Na'Kale's services and the Vloo further surprised by locking down the first-choice left back spot in Farfadillis almost immediately. Then 19. Na'Kale has played almost every minute of the last five seasons now for the powerhouse club and helped them to a resurgent Farf title. His rise to club stardom has been mirrored in the National Team over the last few World Cups, in which he has registered a crazy amount of assists for a left back. Indeed, Na'Kale's card is his inordinate offensive production from the fullback position. He was somehow one of Mâ Âlâmëómë's leading scorers (yes, on the entire team) as they competed for the title last season. Na'Kale's pace helps with that, but it is his intrinsic understanding of the position and his defensive responsibilities that, when combined with his athleticism, touch and crossing, makes him so unique. He's the complete package. In with a shout as the best Cosumarite player right now. And he's still so young!

Center Back - Deirdre McNessa - 31 - Image Starling Image
McNessa came out of nowhere to make the WC 75 squad after Starling came out of nowhere to win the Nepharim Premiership. In the five years since, Starling and McNessa have proven to be no fluke, both player and club boldly cementing themselves at the top of the world game. As a top performer for the recent Multiverse champions, McNessa must surely go down as one of the best bargains in Nepharim history after Starling scooped her up as a free transfer. She actually had a promising early career in Cosumar, representing with our U23 and U21 sides while playing for Pardock Island at their peak. But a slew of injuries sidetracked her development and Pardock Island ended up cutting their losses when she just couldn't stay on the pitch. At a crossroads, she signed for some newly-promoted team in Nephara, hoping to catch on there... and you know the rest. She hasn't been hurt since and has maximized her early potential against all odds. In WC 75, she became the first female defender to earn a Cosumarite cap. In WC 76, she then became the first female defender to start a World Cup Finals match for Cosumar. Marvelous story. She is tall, slender, a good passer out of the back and fearless in the air despite her previous injuries.

Center Back - Peter Svensson - 30 - CAPTAIN - Image AFC Treason Image
Detecting a future centerpiece, Gethin Ramsey brought Svensson along slowly as a young center back even though he was already a seasoned champion at the club level. But by World Cup 74, Peter was truly ready to take over as the heart and soul of the Cosumarite defense. The entire team looks to Svensson as a leader now. A titanic figure for FC Jansberg through the entirety of its LigAnaia tenure and lately for AFC Treason, Svensson is universally recognized as one of the best defenders in the Premiership and indeed the world (if the Boldsport Galacticos index and a CC Semifinals means anything). He is a master of interceptions, looks as strong as he is, can dribble and pass out of the back comfortably and, most of all, is an infamous aerial threat on set-pieces. He'll contribute several goals per domestic season with his head. It feels like Svensson has been around forever, but people forget that he was only 19 when he started winning titles for Jansberg - and he was a homegrown standout for the Na'Malsille Mariners before that. He has so much experience but, having only just crossed 30, is still in a defender's prime. Peter is the nephew of Herrgly Svensson, a famous Cosumarite daredevil known for skydiving out of a space station, and little brother of Erak Svensson, a Congressman.

Right Back - Mortimer Chisenhall - 28 - Image Real Azuris Image
A prized product of the AC Holmenkollen academy, Chisenhall spent several years there as a young phenom before finally completing his long-awaited move to a bigger club at age 22. He had a shaky start to life in Azuris, but found his footing - and more - in subsequent seasons there. The last few years have seen Chisenhall emerge as the best defensive right back in all the Härlighet Ligan. He was part of an Azurian back line that dominated the league en route to a double-digit points gap last season, and was instrumental in Real's astonishing Champions Cup victory two years ago. Chisenhall's attacking capabilities are somewhat limited, but he is simply a sublime one-on-one defender. Off the pitch, he's a quiet lad and almost always has his nose in a book.

Left Midfielder - Bellerophon Serafino - 26 - Image Cassandra City Image
It's apt that Serafino's parents named him after a pegasus-riding Greek hero. With long legs and galloping stride that rapidly eats ground, he's a true pegasus-like workhorse. Minus the flying. Though sometimes he gets from one end of the pitch to another so fast that opponents probably thought he flew. It seems like each season he breaks his own Härlighet Ligan record for mileage covered, instrumental in holding Cassandra City's thinly-spread midfield together. Serafino was somehow still uncapped as recently as World Cup 77, but Alexander Pearce made it a priority to fix that after taking over. Belle has since cemented his place as one of the most important players for the national team over the last cycle. His unheralded role in delivering Cosumar the AOCAF should not go overlooked. Pearce is again placing a lot of faith in Serafino, constructing the tactics around him so that he must contribute heavily in every third of the pitch and always be in place in time to do so. Serafino's playmaking ability on the ball is limited - he won't beat defenders with fancy skill or score many goals - but he can flow and move and combine with the best of 'em and whip some nice long balls in. Off the pitch, he's known for his satirical (we hope?) covers of popular rap songs on social media.

Center Midfielder - Stig Söderquist - 26 - Brinemouth Image
Stig is a sharp box-to-box midfielder. His best role is to hold, to cover for and feed more attack-minded partners. He doesn't do anything flashy to pop off the screen, but he does all the little things that help a team succeed. Always finishes with an extremely high pass completion rate and ratio of successful tackles in midfield. He's a native of Azuris who joined Real's academy system at age 11 and gradually worked his way up to a starting position for the senior team over ten years. With Söderquist efficient beyond his years as the beating pulse behind the curtain in midfield, Real Azuris swept the rest of the Harlighet Ligan aside for several trophies (and two UICA titles) in recent seasons. As far as tidy midfielders go, Söderquist is a rockstar now. A quietly superb player that any coach would love to have in their side. After a fantastic World Cup 78 on home soil, Söderquist followed Real Azuris manager Lujendra Mescalin to Brinemouth, where he hopes to shine in the world's top league.

Right Midfielder - Kit Kvanderwyk - 30 - Image Cornellians Image
After some time in the desert, fan-favorite Kvanderwyk had an impactful return to the fold with seven goals in the World Cup 77 cycle. If there was any doubt that he was back in the team for the long-haul, the subsequent appointment of his manager/mentor from Cornellians, Alexander Pearce, dusted it all away. He and Pearce, along with sister Kathryn Kvanderwyk, were an unstoppable Cosumarite trio in Schottia, leading Cornellians to the latter stages of the Champions' Cup and multiple domestic titles. Kit has kept on producing for the ascendant club since Pearce's switch: his pinpoint crosses and technical prowess saw him voted Cornellians' top player last year. Kit was originally a hyped product of the FC Kaldukosic academy after cracking their starting line-up by age 17. At 21, Cassandra City bought him and he helped the Reds win the league, placing in the top five for Härlighet Ligan Player of the Year. That success earned him a super-sub role for the national team throughout the WC 73 cycle, during which he scored three goals. But declining club performances after that saw him slide out of favor until being rejuvenated under Pearce at Cornellians. Kvanderwyk is skillful, inventive and intelligent... but lacking the pace of an elite winger. He won't blow past any opponents - he instead uses his cleverness to create space before putting the kinds of balls into the box that strikers love to feast on. Off the pitch, Kvanderwyk is a massive fan of the Cosumarite heavy metal scene even hosts his own annual music festival: the KvanderFest.

Central Attacking Playmaker - Alora Heher - 27 - Rozelle Image
Heher was the surprise breakout star of the last Eagle's Cup, popping off from obscurity to rack up multiple goals and assists off the bench. She used the platform to lock down a place on the team going into World Cup 76. She's not surprising anybody anymore though. Now an established star, all eyes are squarely on her as she holds the reins of the Cosumarite attack as an every-match starter. Romikk Valgard was the big hero of the AOCAF championship, but the banana-boosted striker wouldn't have enjoyed as much space if opponents weren't so preoccupied with keeping the feisty Heher in check. Some fans, noticing Heher's limited G+A statistics this cycle, are calling for Pearce to use other options at CAM (and we likely will, in fact, see teen sensation Isla Sibučić debut here) but Alora has done a pretty good job considering all the attention opposing defenses pay her. She just won the AOCAF as a starter, so it would be absurd to make a change now. This Eagle's Cup, back on the stage where she made her name, will be an opportunity for Alora to silence her critics and deflect the pressure from Sibučić. Alora is quick, nimble and energetic, wearing out defenders with her constant movement. Most impressive though is her eye for the killer pass. She excels threading that final ball between the lines, through the defense. Sometimes her touch in tight quarters could be cleaner though.

Striker - Romikk Valgard - 25 - Ulsa Image
The moment he lifted the AOCAF trophy on behalf of the Fiefdom earlier this year, Romikk Valgard Valgard officially took over as Cosumar's biggest star. Given his run of goalscoring form in that tournament and dating back to World Cup 77, it's fully deserved. His rise has been dizzying. West Gundar scooped teen Valgard up from obscurity for $300k pocket change after scoring seven goals in Tredje Ligan. Three years later, he scored 16 in the Härlighet Ligan - the most of any Cosumarite that year. After introducing himself to the world as a eye-popping super sub in World Cup 77 (five goals, including a few late winners, in six appearances off the bench), many thought Ulsa would be too big of a jump for him. His transition at the Euran superclub has been a natural one, however, learning and scoring double-digit goals under the wing of club legend Kris Campbell. He has methodically improved an aspect of his game each season and now has the touch, composure, two-footed ability (and ego) of an elite striker. Of course, his right-footed shot and natural athleticism were always first-rate. Valgard can thrive finding a window on goal in tight spaces with ball underfoot or running into open space with bursting acceleration and finishing with pure instinct. He's surprisingly weak in the air for someone of his height though, which Pearce has factored into the tactics, and can still be streaky at times. Also of note is that Valgard is the first player born on extraterrestrial colony Kalloroda to play for Cosumar. He also has a thing for bananas.

Striker - Ragnar Targaryen - 26 - Image CA Paulinthal Image
Ragnar signed with CA Paulinthal at 17 as a top prospect out of Cosumar's most prestigious private youth residency academy. At 23, he finally broke through as a starter at CAP after six years of simmering development. And what a whirlwind year it was! Solidifying himself as part of a lethal attacking trio alongside Valladares international Abel Brücke, Ragnar helped propel CAP to the Copa de Campeones Final. This season, he was finally able to win the SuperLiga with Paulinthal, stepping up to lead the team with an insane 32 goals. The phenomenal season in Pasarga, combined with his chemistry with best friend Valgard, makes him a must-include for new manager Alexander Pearce. He'll take back the starting job alongside Valgard from Zeale-Riddick despite young VZR's positive showing in the AOCAF. Targaryen is a proven commodity at the international level. He led the team in goals+assists in World Cup 77 after all. He has the versatility, stellar first touch and passing ability. He doesn't have Valgard's pace or movement, but he's a hard runner. And though he's below-average height for a striker, Ragnar is sturdily built and has natural heading ability when he can win the ball in the air. This season, he also earned a reputation for scoring from unusual angles on his way to 32 for CA Paulinthal. Off the pitch, Ragnar is heavily into sci-fi and fantasy fandom - a geek at heart. He's also a big fan of his hometown club: Mallox FC.

Remaining Squad

GK - Cormak Lethbridge - 31 - Image Coret Hawks Image
Tall, spindly goalkeeper. The best parts of his game are his distribution, unflappable poise and organization -- earning the nickname "The Brigadier" for his command of the defense. Above average in the shot-stopping department too, though Lethbridge has been criticized for his perceived unwillingness to venture away from the goal. He has done a nice job in four seasons in Nephara after leaving FC Kaldukosic, making his first World Cup well-deserved last cycle as Cosumar hosted. It might not be a coincidence either that FC Kaldukosic have plummeted down the table with catastrophic defending since then without their "Brigadier". Foreign spectators, however, may know him better as the husband of a certain Chromatik superstar named Gabriella...

LB - Alexis Brill - 25 - Image Violence Chariots Image
Former U21 stalwart Brill has broken through as a starter in Nephara over the last two seasons and solidified her place as Pearce's second-choice left back in the process. She hasn't been a showstopper for Chariots, but she has fared well by most accounts, which is enough to be impressive for a young defender trying to make her way at a major Premiership club. Her acclimation was aided by the fact she was already quite experienced before going to Nephara at 20, having played regular first-team soccer for St. Marie in Kernansquillec since the tender age of 16. Alexis is a slightly undersized fullback whose light-footed energy, pace and deceptive strength help compensate for her small frame. She flies up and down the left side, getting involved deep in the attack and ~usually~ making it back in time to defend. Her cross doesn't have much range, but she's pretty accurate when closer. Off the pitch, she collects antique Cosumarite dolls. According to her Instagram, she and her mom together have over 6000.

CB - Corella da Silva - 26 - Image Raynor City United Image
An elegant defender yet with a bit of scrap to her, Corella broke through as a starter at Valanora's most famous club last season and earned her first senior caps at the AOCAF. A similar player to McNessa, da Silva will try to push the Starling veteran for his first-choice role this cycle. Made a big impression by giving Romikk Valgard a nasty bruise on a perfectly-timed slide tackle in her first national team training, which the two still joke about.

CB - Torbjörn Jorgensen - 27 - Image SC Rinaldi Image
Tremendous defender with big championship-winning experience in Cosumar and LigAnaia. He doesn't offer anything fancy like passing range or dribbles, but he's a beast of a physical presence. Jorgensen defends aggressively and wears his heart on his sleeve in every match, protecting the goal from every cross, every dribble, every shot like it's his only reason to live. He's deceptively smart though, and does a good job controlling his aggression intelligently. That mentality has helped SC Rinaldi survive and begin to climb in the Vanorian Premiere League despite being pinned as strong relegation candidates a few years ago. His heroic efforts even saw him named to the league's Best XI. Jorgensen was developed by the Real Azuris academy and broke into their starting XI at age 18, anchoring a title campaign. He was subsequently named Defender of the Year. At 18. His newfound stardom didn't go unnoticed and FC Jansberg subsequently added him to their collection of Cosumarite defenders alongside countrymen Soarhaven and Svensson. He won more titles there. When he played in Cosumar, fans of rival teams cruelly called him "pizza-face" because of his bad acne, which he still bears.

RB - Tug Cooper - 24 - Arrowsmith Image
Former U21 stalwart who has found his path to stardom on the senior team stubbornly blocked by the ever-consistent Chisenhall. Discontent with his second-choice role for the last couple World Cups, he's hoping a move to Eura will help rejuvenate competition for the spot. Tug's real name is Thon Cooper, but he was given the moniker 'Tug' by his coaches at boyhood club Ramusok United because of his incredible stamina (in Cosumar, long-distance racing horses are known colloquially as "tugs"). In addition to his renowned ability to run and run and never tire, Tug is a tenacious and tactically intelligent fullback versatile enough to help the team offensively and defensively. Goes forward more frequently and does so more effectively than starter Chisenhall, but hasn't always been quite as reliable defensively. Still has the occasional lapses there, though they have been minimized lately. Short and stocky with a barrel-like chest, shaggy greyish-brown hair and a smirking grin. Often cited as one of the funniest players on the team, with a clever, sarcastic persona in interviews.

LM - Tamer Yilmaz - 28 - Image Marinos Metropolis Image
Long on the fringe of the national team, former FC Kaldukosic product Yilmaz earned his first caps in the AOCAF by completing the best season of his career. Stepping up his consistency and becoming a key figure in the Marinos attack, he helped the club reclaim the Valladar Liga 1 title. The former Cosumar U21 player is a relentlessly technical winger who loves to get into the dangerous areas and take on defenders one-on-one.

CM - Warren Royannais - 27 - Image Cednia Beach AFC Image
Smooth passer of the ball, great footwork, and a good amount of pace on him as well. Has the work ethic and confidence. There's real talent there, but Royannais long lacked the consistency and mental focus of an everyday top-level player, making only sporadic impacts. Last season, however, he was able to sustain it for an entire season at Makosile United, earning him an upward move within the V-League to Cednia Beach AFC in the transfer window. The former U21 player has big lofty dreams of World Cup 79 and is eager (perhaps overly so) to get his first caps, so he might be a little nervy at first. But his feel for the international game should improve if Pearce has the patience. Spent part of his childhood in Vilita, where he was inspired by watching Jungle Strike FC, and returned there after just one breakout season at FC Kaldukosic at age 22.

CM - Tiffany Elam - 29 - Image Ibini FC Image
Tiffany is a true hustler in midfield - she just doesn't stop running. She's quick, pretty good at pinging the ball around, and can surge forward or make a late opportunistic run into the box... but really she relishes the unglamorous work the most. Elam won her spot in the team after a great sophomore season in the Vanorian top-flight, helping Ibini claim 2nd place and never looking back. A constant feature throughout World Cup 76, she lost her starting place in the pecking order to Stig Söderquist in the camps leading up to WC 77, but she's still an important part of the team. At age 18, Elam turned down the #1 medical school in Cosumar to pursue her soccer career, moving to Kernansquillec to join Project X. She was one of the program's first standouts, immediately being offered a contract upon graduation to join local giants Guingamp. In three seasons there, she became one of Kernansquillec's best players before moving on to Valanora. Elam was the captain of Cosumar's U21 side in two successful DBCs and transitioned seamlessly to the senior squad afterwards.

RM - Bryger Tidesson - 20 - Image Real Azuris Image
Everybody seems certain that Bryger is destined for great things. He scored in the Champions' Cup at age 16, after all, and started in the Cygnus Cup Final at 17. With his teenage years now behind him, Tidesson is now an everyday starter for the domestic champions and should have a chance to truly attain superstar status this year. He has everything you want in a winger. He's fearless, creative, technical and puts in effort defensively (even if a tad undersized still). The fact that Pearce has called him up in lieu of an established in-prime player like Corey Simmons III speaks volumes about how highly the Cosumar staff (which doesn't usually call up youngsters easily) rates him. The only question is who is the more hyped 20-year-old, him or Isla. Kit Kvanderwyk needs to be looking over his shoulder. The Tidesson train seems about to truly take off and, once it does, he might have that right wing spot locked down for the next decade. A goal in the Eagle's Cup could accelerate that process.

CAM - Isla Sibučić - 20 - Image Cornellians Image
Take a look at this name and the one above her. Tidesson-Sibučić could be Cosumar's creative engine for the next decade or more. Sibučić is a small little thing, but is an explosive playmaker. It's a wonder to watch her little blonde head zip all around the pitch and break down a defense. She's pacy, she's fearless, and she's a one-in-a-million technical prodigy. Whether it's free kicks, dribbles fit for a circus act or you-name-it, she's wondrous with the ball. This season, all of that promise has started to translate into tangible on-field production with Schottic giants Cornellians. Sibučić has worked wonders for them as a super sub and has even begun stealing minutes from the regular starters. Shale is having a harder and harder time finding reasons to keep her off the pitch and one senses that Pearce may soon have a similar "problem". Isla will almost certainly make her long-awaited Cosumar debut here as an impact sub, looking to imulate the splash Alora Heher made on the Eagle's Cup stage last time. Keep an eye on this one. Hailing from the dark subterranean colony of Fevelo, Sibučić naturally has very pale skin as well as rare purple eyes. She's part of an emerging trend of extraterrestrial-born players making bigger impacts in Cosumarite sport and idolizes former Cosumar captain Paaron Petrov, hitherto the only capped Fevelian.

ST - Airik Ruhl - 24 - Chenoworth Harriers Image
Ruhl is a monstrous forward, using his godlike body to dominate defenders, yet with a surprisingly soft touch and delicate technique for someone of his imposing physique (when he's not smashing headers). Only a year removed from the Sekundar Ligan, he led Chenoworth to the Champions' Cup last season with a stunning tally of 22 goals. Most ever by a Cosumarite in the Premiership. However, his commitment to the game has been questioned in the past as he sometimes seemed like he couldn't be arsed to give full effort for Morponte Fief and Cosumar U21. The reputation has lingered despite his recent successes. He's not exactly a favorite of the Cosumarite media either due to his decidedly un-Cosumarite manners and troubling criminal history, which you can read more about here.

ST - Vega Zeale-Riddick - 22 - Image Samaj FC Image
Last year, VZR had what was quite possibly the biggest breakout season in Härlighet Ligan history. 32 GOALS IN 34 MATCHES. Yeah. That's a record-breaker. Sorry Anders Engström, your legendary 29-goal season has been dethroned. Now, let's be real, Vega will never be the technical wizard or versatile attacking force that Engström was. Towering over most players and with springs for legs, she's more of a traditional center-forward target. At Samaj, she benefits from being the focal point of a system designed to funnel most of the chances to her. Nevertheless, by taking over the starting job there as a teenager and leading them to the Globe Cup and now the Champions' Cup, she has left Alexander Pearce no choice but to try to integrate her. Some questioned whether Zeale-Riddick would function effectively in Pearce's two-forward system after playing mainly as a lone striker in her young career, but starting alongside Valgard through an AOCAF title run dispelled those fears. Vega proved that she's more nimble for her size than people first assumed and can score with her feet from reasonable distance. The public image of VZR is that she's something of a "spoiled princess", but in an endearing way. Most fans can't help but like the 22-year-old anyways.

Staff

Manager: Alexander Pearce Image
Alexander Pearce, 49, is a Cosumarite legend at center back, and is the fifth person to manage the national team. He is also the first former player to do so. He has large legacies to live up to. Before him, Nepharim icon Gethin Ramsey held the job for five cycles and made five World Cup knockouts, also winning a Cup of Harmony. Before that, Farris Crowley held the post for nearly 40 years and took Cosumar to its first seven World Cups. What will Pearce's legacy be? Well, he's already proven to be quite gifted at building legacies. Just look at what he did in Schottia with Cornellians: overseeing the club's transition from the Multiverse Premier League to the SPL and going on to dominate that league with five consecutive titles. No one expects him to win five consecutive World Cups, but it's reasonable to expect great things - especially after winning AOCAF LIV. Pearce's credentials extend far beyond just being a once-great player. He possesses a well-rounded managerial skillset: studious tactical acumen, a creative eye for new talent, elegant motivational/persuasive speaking, effective organizational management and even shrewd handling of finances. Known for his ability to coordinate and guide others and effortlessly command attention.
Pearce comes from a family with deep roots in the sport and takes great pride in representing his family name and his country. In his playing days, he was a rangy, mobile defender who could play in the middle or at left back. He is a club legend at OAS Royal FC, having joined upon the Härlighet Ligan's inception and playing at The Royal Palace for sixteen years, winning four titles. Afterwards, he became a player-coach in the MPL for Cornellians, which was his transition into coaching. He played in a desolate era for the Cosumar national team, but appeared in one World Cup Finals and captained the side in WC 67 and 68 Qualifying. Full bio.

Assistant Manager: Casey Brind Image
With incumbent assistant manager Kennedy Kopenhaver bolting to fill the managerial vacancy at Mallox, Alexander Pearce has decided to recruit his assistant and ex-teammate from Cornellians to the cause. Casey Brind, now 41 years old, was a well-traveled midfielder in her playing days, which weren't too long ago, including stops at Iron City, Cranequin Wanderers, Raven River, Vermillion Rage and then ending at Cornellians. Pearce and Brind are well-oiled machine, a proven good team through recent glories at Cornellians. Brind will be hoping that the success translates to the international level, inspired by helping fill the void of Nepharim legend Gethin Ramsey. Maybe this is the start of a storied international managerial career of her own.

Head Coach: Klaillal Tuirma
Descendant of Season 4 Turorian Player of the Season and National team legend Cuolia Tuirma, Klaillal will work with Restiaa Mumamba to become the future "All-Around" player for the Turori National Team. Playing in a unique role, Tuirma will be expected to fill the role of being able to play every game, in every position - even Goalkeeper, if there are no subs left. After being brought up through the academy system at Kionao, Tuirma signed a professional contract with Colonial Sile in Vilita for Season 35, winning silverware in the first match, the Tropical Trophy triumph over Strike. Tuirma's stay in Sile didn't last long, however, coaxed back to the luxury of Arcticala Inlet to help in their Champions-Cup qualifying campaign of Season 38. Tuirma returned to Turori during Season 44 as a member of Mliona-Lpaka AFC. Tuirma retired from international competition after winning the 67th Cup of Harmony with Turori.

The coaches will select the squad from the National Player pool. Players are listed below, grouped by position and sorted by projection 'Depth Chart' position where the top player listed is most likely to be named the first player selected for that position, and so on. Depth chart positions are determined by performance in pre-cup training sessions, as well as performance and average ratings in the Vilitan League competition and previous appearances for the National Team. Note 'Caps" are not currently on record for Turorian Players due to federation budget re-allocation to the Cocoabo Enrichment & Enhancement Project (CEEP)

This current managerial team are now going into the fourth cycle together, having utterly transformed Schottia's fortunes over the last six years. Quebecois boss, Lionel Mah, was totally untested at international level when he took over from Jane Gullie, and while his appointment might have been a little controversial, he has now well and truly won the nation over. Mah's ability to motivate, man-manage, and get the most out of a limited playing pool appear to be second to none, and the 55-year-old has got the entire team pulling in the same direction. Former team captain, Colin Donaldson, joined as Mah's assistant after he cut his managerial teeth as interim manager at Handon United. The 44-year-old knows the Schottic game, and has strengths in the areas Mah lacks, making him an influential voice on the training pitch. David Chettwell is part of the furniture now at Harbour Hill, having worked under three Schottia managers to date. He knows the players, knows the culture, and 'Davy' - as the players call him - is a good go between for the management and playing staff. Judy Scott and Conner Watts were both brought in on Donaldson's recommendation, and the pair of them have lots of front-line coaching experience. Peter Acheson is a member of the side who survives the post- Jane Gullie era cull, and he has worked with the goalkeeping staff for a long time. Physio, Claire Hanson-Conavacio, (wife of the Quebecois legend) is perhaps one of the more controversial members of the team, having been previously sacked for allegations of assaulting a player. The charges were later dropped, paving the way for this world-class sports scientist to re-enter the fold.

Team history
Barry Gorman era
Not so much a tale of ups and downs, Schottia's history in the World Cup competitions has been one of very slow progress. Since Barry Gorman took over a side ranked outside the world's top 300, which had just finished WC68 with a grand total of 0-points, the Auks have seen their fortunes steadily improve. The small nation of six-and-a-half-million gave a very good account of themselves under his stewardship and it was in this era that we saw them first adopt their now familiar 4-2-3-1 formation. Schottia finished sixth of eight in their group as they tried to reach the finals of WC69 in his first year in charge, qualifying for the Cup of Harmony, where they recorded a surprise win over Mizuyuki. The subsequent rise up the world rankings saw them finish third, fourth, third in WC70, 71, and 72 respectively, as they established themselves as one of the world's mid-ranked sides. Schottia put in some plucky performance over the years, and there was little doubt that it was Gorman who had made the difference, seemingly able to dig deep and get something extra out of the country's small pool of players. It was also during this period (immediately prior to WC70) that Schottia won the Di Bradini Cup, and that golden generation of youngsters has slowly began to make their mark on the senior squad.

Despite being the one to galvanise the team, Barry Gorman's position as manager became more and more difficult. After a series of wild promises and statements of overconfidence, he constantly succeeded in building up the fans' expectations, and creating a rod for his own back. In the end it was no doubt this bravado, coupled with a lacklustre qualification campaign in WC72, which saw the SFA decline to offer him a new contract. He did go on to lead the side to the knockout stages of the Cup of Harmony for the first time, however it wasn't enough, and as the side limped out after a heavy defeat to Nova Anglicana, it was to be the 47-year-old's last act in charge.

Jane Gullie era
After their Cup of Harmony exit, Schottia was standing at a bit of a crossroads. Managerless, and despite reaching the knockout stages of a major tournament for the first time, it was abundantly clear that they were a million miles off the pace. From a shortlist of five candidates, Jane Gullie emerged as the most suitable option, and was handed the job over the likes of caretaker Grant Nean, and Schottic DBC hero Jock Sonny. Gullie had made a name for herself after lifting the SPL title with New Belfast Warriors, and was commended for her style of man-management and balanced tactics, which the board thought conducive to the Schottic style of play. It is easy to forget when looking back with rosé tinted glasses, but Gullie's reign was not an overnight success and indeed, she came very close to being sacked only five matches into the World Cup 73 Qualifiers. Results picked up however, the turning point being a win at home to Krytenia - a massive achievement for a nation who traditionally struggle against the top sides. The result seemed to give Schottia a new found confidence, and with the cracks glossed over with a little self belief, they eventually went on to top their group. Further wins over Mertagne, and the completion of the double over Krytenia in the final group game meant that Schottia were able to avoid the play-off lottery and move straight into the World Cup final draw.

In spite of all the excitement surrounding the nation's qualification, there was no hiding the enormity of the task they faced. Drawn in a difficult group consisting of San Jose San Jose Guayabal, Farfadillis, and the Polar Islandstates, Schottia finished in fourth place picking up a single point against Farfadillis.

Schottia then entered the World Cup 74 qualification as second seeds in their group, and while this made for a potentially easier draw - being placed alongside The Holy Empire, Bears Armed, and New Gelderland saw pay to that. After a huge struggle, Schottia eventually came out on top for a second cycle running. In reflection the home and away wins over New Gelderland, were probably pivotal in a group where all the sides dropped points. By this point Gullie was starting to get the players she wanted around her, and this was marked by the emergence of individuals such as Johannas Ünterhausen, Bella Thompson, and Herron Crew, who all made valuable contributions.

The finals themselves were once again a bridge too far for Schottia, and where they seem to have gotten qualification down to a T, the finals are another story all together. This time Schottia were draw alongside Nova Anglicana, Vilita, and the familiar faces of Farfadillis. It was to be the same story as last time however, and with zero wins, Schottia limped out once again at the group stage.

After topping their qualification group the two previous campaigns there was a lot of pressure on Jane Gullie to do the same going into WC75. However, despite a strong start, the Schottians fell by the wayside, with a seemingly inconceivable collapse at the halfway stage, finishing third behind Devonta and Eura.

Lionel Mah Era
Schottia's first World Cup qualifying campaign under the very highly rated Quebecois Lionel Mah can simply be summed up by the word - frustration. In many ways, they did so much right, but during the critical games against Eshan and Turori, they couldn't come up with the goods. The Schottic support seemed to be divided right down the middle, as to whether or not the manager should be given a second chance. However, and perhaps most crucially, the players had been generally in favour of the then 50-year-old. In the end, the Schottic FA decided not to make a final decision on Mah's fate until after the Cup of Harmony, which would prove to be astute move.

Optimism was desperately low as Schottia headed into their first ever Cup of Harmony on home soil, with overseas territory Port Christopher qualifying for the World Cup making it all the more painful. However, Schottia managed to dig deep, and pull out the results they needed, as they made their way to the final. They suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the final, losing in the dying minutes to a very impressive Bonesea side. Despite the obvious disappointment, there were several positives to take away. The run to the final, which included a 4-0 win over the higher ranked Super-Llamaland, undoubtedly meant that Schottia went into the Independents Cup the following year full of confidence.

Schottia marched to a somewhat surprise victory at the inaugural tournament, which pitted associations playing out with the Mulitiverse's three main sporting regions against one another. Defeating Veldgouwen in the final, Lionel Mah's side were able to atone for letting the Cup of Harmony slip through their fingers on home solid, and add a first senior trophy to the Harbour Hill cabinet.

Going into the qualifiers for World Cup 77, national confidence was at an all time high. Despite what on paper looked like a difficult draw, there was a feeling that Mah and Donaldson were the management team who knew how to get results. Along with heavyweights, Starblaydia and the Sarian, Schottia were also pitted against emerging superpower, Ceni. While Arrowsword, Koromin, and Co proved to be a bridge too far for the Schottians, they swept all others aside with some gutsy performances, to finish second in the group.

After securing a return to the world stage, Schottia found themselves in nosebleed territory after topping their group with nine points. A 2-1 win over Nephara will no doubt be the highlight of what turned out to be their breakthrough cycle. An extra time victory over fellow rising stars, Anglatia, in the round of sixteen, meant that Schottia were in uncharted waters as they progressed to the quarterfinals. It wouldn't be a World Cup if it didn't involve facing Farfadillis, and it was at the hands of the AO side, that Schottia eventually made their exit.

Mah and his team went on to prove that their exploits in SJG were no fluke, as they marched to the finals of the second IAC hosted in Schottia. Despite some good performances along the way, there was a horrible feeling of deja vu, as the Auks lost out to a young Bonesea side in the final.

There can surely have been no Schottic manager ever, who was under the same weight of expectation as Lionel Mah, as he went into World Cup-78. The unprecedented success he had brought to the team over the last four years looked, on paper, to be an impossible act to follow. They were sorted into a qualifying group alongside familiar opponents in the form of Super-Llamaland and Kaboomlandia, with the Schottic fans expecting nothing other than qualification; especially with two sides going through automatically. Mah didn't only deliver qualification; he went through the entire campaign with a 100% record, moving Schottia up into the World's top-ten for the first time.

Despite huffing and puffing through the group stage, Schottia made it to the knockouts for the second year running at the World Cup finals. A bizarre 5-1 win over Pasarga, and a workman like 3-2 victory over hosts Cosumar, saw them though to the semi-final and within ninety minutes of the World Cup final. They face off against two times former champions, Eura, in what was an epic contest. However there was to be heartbreak at the end, as Schottia went out 4-3 on penalty kicks. The side did bounce back however, defeating the Holy Empire in the third place play off, to somehow top the world rankings.

Heading into their third Independents Cup, Mah selected a youthful squad, hell-bent on winning their title back from those pesky sailors! Despite leaving out several top players, Schottia's future squad put in a series of very gutsy performances, as they made their way to the final for the third year running. After a very close fought battle with our former co-hosts, Mercedini, Schottia ran out 2-1 winners, giving the next generation a first taste of silverware.

Squad information
This is Schottia's first outing in the prestigious Eagle's Cup, so there is very little to go on in terms of precedent. The nation were invited six years ago, but managerless at the time, it was decided that it could do more harm than good, and the SFA had no choice but to decline. Lionel Mah has gone with a very strong squad, which gives us some indication of his thinking ahead of the next World Cup cycle. The first time inclusions are, Handon United's Natalie Adams, and Zoloroni Metropolitan star, Vincent Verbeck. While this is Adams' first senior call-up, the 23-year-old was capped by the Unified Sunrise Islands at U21 level. The Southern Sunrise born star has only recently declared her interest in playing for Schottia, having lived in Handon for seven years now. Verbeck Perhaps needs a little more introduction given the fact that he has never played in Schottia at senior level. However the midfielder has been turning heads in Mercedini, and Mah saw enough on a recent scouting trip to give the 24-year-old a call-up. Killanen, Watt, Rudden, Coultan, McDonald, Doig, Paul, and Brankovic all come back into the side after getting a rest during the (non) regionals. Molly Killanen, Johannas Ünterhausen, Morham, James, Kella, and Dornenberger are all perhaps a little unlucky to find themselves left out, but they will have a big role to play in the up and coming WCQ's

Harry Gould will once again start between the sticks, after some very impressive performances of late. Jeremy McNott will provide the cover, and the experienced Cornellians keeper is a more than capable understudy. It looks like Mah is going to go with a back four of: Larry Watt, Paul Doig, Mark Ünterhausen, and Gareth Souter. All are very experienced, with three of those four being hardy stalwarts. There is adequate cover in the form of Louis Hordern, James Robertson, Stephen Paul, and Champions' Cup winner, Grant Carlin.

Lionel Mah has plenty of options in the centre of midfield this time round, and the trick may be not to overly complicate things. Jenny McDonald should retain the captain's armband alongside girl of the moment, Evelyn Conjure, who just became Schottia's most expensive player of all time. Handon United stars, Dilon Bánach and Natalie Adams both provide slightly more attacking alternatives, but they also have a good all-rounder there in the form of Vincent Verbeck. Eoin Killanen or Kim Coultan could also play there at a push so there is plenty of room for chopping and changing.

Eoin Killanen is a shoe in to start, either on the right wing or through the centre, with Rexmont and Rudden left vying it out for the slot on the left. Coultan is of course back in the fold, but it might be the case that Camila Luna stays in the attacking midfield role for the time being. It would be exceptionally cruel to drop the Marine Coast United star after her form in Spaam and Kel Assuk. On the bench, the other option might be to play Adams there, however, she generally plays a little deeper for Handon United, even though she is a playmaker by nature.

It's hard to see anyone else starting up front other than Martel Burns, unless the Polaris striker has a meltdown of some description. Her scoring rate has been prolific over the last couple of years, and Lionel Mah will be hoping for more of the same. Višnja Brankovič is also very dangerous though, as is Ross Renshaw, and both players are currently enjoying very good seasons with their respective clubs. Generally speaking, a lack of goals has never been Schottia's problem, and there are plenty of midfielders who can throw themselves into the attack also.

The kits for the last World Cup cycle are designed by Schottsport of Schottia
----------------------------

Full Squad

1. GK Harry Gould, 28 | Image FC Soessch | Height:188cm Weight:75kg | Caps:26 Goals: 0
Gould's stocks have really soared since over the last twelve months, forcing McNott from the coveted number one spot with a string of good performances for his club, FC Soessch. The former Port Sebastian player has represented Schottia at U18 and U21 level, but it took him a number of years to work his way up to senior level. What Gould does best is the sold, all-round stuff. He communicates well with the back four, he's confident at coming for the ball, and knows when to stay on his line. He is never going to be as good a shot-stopper as McNott, but that's not his main strength. Lionel Mah seems to favour him at the moment, and his performances at the IAC-3 will have further enhanced his reputation.

2. RB. Larry Watt, 33 | Image 1860 Azoth, | Height: 180cm. Weight: 75kg | Caps: 92 Goals: 2
Schottia's vice-captain, and arguably one of the best right-backs in the world. Watt's recent success is just rewards for a long career of keeping your head down and doing exactly what is asked of you. Don't expect to see any rampaging runs down the right flank, or heart in mouth sliding tackles - Watt is slow, steady, and very careful. He started his career at Marionville, and after helping Schottia to the Di Bradini Cup title, won a move to Buyanese side, Blau-Weiss Pallstadt. After battling his way into the first team there, the arse fell out of the Top League, and Watt was picked up by 1860 Azoth, back in the pre-TL era. The right-back has slowly climbed the ladder there, where his crowning achievement was in lifting the Champions' Cup.

3. LB. Paul Doig, 31 | Image Port Sebastian | Height:180cm Weight:71kg | Caps: 59 Goals: 0
Now knocking on the door of sixty caps for his country, Paul Doig is an important part of the Schottic set-up. The quintessential one club man, he is a local hero with Port Sebastian, where he has helped them lift two league titles, and won the Schottic Cup three times. As well as his tireless work-rate, slogging away up and down the left-flank, Doig is best known for his trademark long-throws, which are a big feature of the Schottic attack. The 31-year-old former DBC winner was left out of the most recent experimental IAC squad, but is back in for the Eagle's Cup, as Lionel Mah clearly has an eye towards the next set of WCQs.

4. CB. Mark Ünterhausen, 25 | Image FC Jansberg | Height:186cm Weight:75kg | Caps: 26 Goals: 2
Another member of the Ünterhausen footballing dynasty, Mark seems to have now forced his way into the starting eleven, following some exceptional performance during the regionals. He has proven himself to be a top-class centre-half since joining Semarlandic giants, FC Jansberg, aged eighteen. Ünterhausen is a calming influence at the back, and as a natural leader, there are many who are already touting him as the next Schottia captain. His partner is fellow Schottia cap and FC Soessch midfielder, Kerstin Dornenberger, whom he met while the two of them played together at FC Döllar.

5. CB. Gareth Souter, 30 | Image Sporting Cenial | Height: 189cm. Weight: 79kg | Caps: 84 Goals: 8
Now hugely experienced, Souter is a massive asset to the Schottic defence. The Sporting Cenial star has been an ever-present part of this side, all the way through their rise up the world rankings. One of many of the DBC-33 winners in the side, twelve years on, the former Handon United kid is well on his way to reaching 100 caps. Souter is good on the ball, and comfortable playing his way out of trouble. Perhaps the Sporting star's most important attribute however, is his aerial ability, along with the threat he poses coming forward for corners.

6. CM. Jenny McDonald, 32 | Image Coret Hawks | Height: 173cm. Weight: 64kg | Caps: 72 Goals: 8 (c)
The team captain is back, after being rested during the IAC-3 win. The girl who lead Schottia to third-place at the last World Cup, is an influential presence in the centre of the park; the kind of player who grabs the game by the scruff of the neck, and isn't afraid to get stuck in. Her industrious and combative nature has allowed the midfielder to punch far above her weight throughout her career; and for a player who stands at only 173 cm, she has a real presence on the pitch. McDonald was a bit of a late developer, winning her first cap aged 26, before moving to the Nepharim Premiership, where she currently stars for Coret Hawks.

8. CM Evelyn Conjure, 25 | Image Brinemouth | Height: 170cm. Weight: 67kg | Caps: 55 Goals: 8
Galactico Runner-Up, Conjure is the golden-girl of Schottic football at the moment. It feels like the 25-year-old has come a very long way in a relatively short time, capping off an extraordinary eighteen months by winning a $20,000,000 move to Brinemouth. Although Conjure originally broke through the ranks at Blue Coast as a versatile utility player, she seems to have now established herself in the engine room of the midfield. For Schottia she does a lot of the fetching and carrying, putting in strong challenges, and looking for the intelligent out-ball. Conjure is a very important player in this squad, and having her fit is going to be crucial to how Schottia perform this cycle.

10. AMRLC. Eoin Killanen, 33 | Image Mâ Âlâmëómë | Height:176cm Weight:71kg | Caps: 136 Goals: 62
Schottia's greatest ever player (but possibly eighteen months past his prime). Killanen was another player rested for the trip to Kel Assuk and Spaam, but he is brought back into what looks like a close to full-strength squad for Schottia's debut in the Eagle's Cup. Out of all Schottia's 'Golden Generation' there is no one who has done more over the last decade. The Mâ Âlâmëómë can play anywhere in the area between the midfielders and the strikers, and can be effective right, left, or centre. Schottia's most capped player and record goal scorer probably isn't quite at his dizzying WC73/74 standards, but he can undoubtedly still add some quality, guile, and experience to the attack.

11. LM/RM. Steven Rexmont, 25 | Image Chenoworth Harriers | Height:180cm Weight: 69kg | Caps: 39 Goals: 14
One of the big stars of Schottia's next generation, Rexmont was an important player for them during the most recent IAC title win. The 25-year-old had a strong debut season with Chenoworth in the Nepharim Premiership, after making the switch from Port Sebastian where he had previously spend two years. Rexmont has been Jock Sonny's prodigy, having gone with him from Cornellians to Dundee and then on to Porty. The powerful winger, who can play on either side, is likely to push Chloe Rudden very hard for a starting berth over the next cycle, and you would feel it is perhaps only a matter of time. Rexmont has a good goal scoring rate and supports the attack well.

7. AMC. Camila Soria Luna, 21 | Image Marine Coast United | Height:176cm Weight:65kg | Caps: 36 Goals: 11
After her performances at the IAC in Spaam and Kel Assuk, there are few who would now contest the fact that this 21-year-old is the real deal. Luna has been on the Schottia radar for a number of years, but she really shot to prominence during the last World Cup campaign, where she preformed a starring role. She has always been seen as the long-term replacement to key playmaker, Kim Coultan, and since her stand out performance in the Independents Cup, it is obvious that she is now ready take on that mantel. The Port Christopher born attacker's career has been dogged with controversy, since she made the switch to representing Schottia aged 13. To lose the best young player the island has ever produced was a big blow, but their loss has most certainly been Schottia's gain.

13. FC. Corinne Martel-Burns 23 | Image Polaris | Height:173cm Weight:66kg | Caps: 68 Goals: 57
It's hard to know where to start when it comes to introducing Connie Martel-Burns. Despite a near 1-to-1 goal to game ratio, incredibly, it has been her off field exploits, which have constantly grabbed the headlines. Since she was kicked out of the Handon United youth academy aged fourteen, Martel-Burns has courted controversy at every turn. Her well-documented battle with mental illness has seen her miss big tournaments; such as the IAC-2, while she was facing assault charges back in St Johns. The striker of Quebecois descent, recently switched from girlhood heroes, to Cenian side Polaris in a $15,000,000 move.

Substitutes

23. GK. Jeremy McNott, 33 | Image Cornellians | Height: 191cm Weight:79kg | Caps: 55 Goals: 0
Seems to have now lost out on the number-one jersey, as a result of Harry Gould's astonishing domestic form. The Cornellians keeper was second choice throughout much of the latter stages of World Cup Qualifying, as well as the finals themselves; he was also rested during the IAC-3. At 33, McNott is still a very competent keeper, who has played at the very highest level for a number of years. He is most certainly the best shot-stopper in the current national pool, but some slightly erratic handling has been Achilles heel.

14. RB. Louis Hordern, Image Handon United, 21. Height: 181cm. Weight: 72kg | Caps: 2 Goals: 0
This young player is making a massive name for himself at Handon United right now. The home-grown academy graduate, and current DCB captain, is normally seen thundering down the right side of the pitch. As far as wingbacks go, the 21-year-old is the real deal, fast, accurate tackler, and able to deliver the ball into the opposition box. Hordern won a couple of caps during the IAC, and didn't look at all out of place in the Schottia defence. Larry Watt is very much ahead of him at the moment, but with the Azoth man now pushing 34, you'd imagine Hordern will be drafted in sooner rather than later.

15. LB. James Robertson, 27 Image Falourr | Height: 175cm. Weight: 69kg | Caps: 6 Goals: 0
After being part of Handon United's title winning season, James Robertson won a move to the Eura League, with Falourr. Robertson is perhaps one of the quiet players in the team, but what he does do, he does very well. He and Hordern work well in unison, and provide an overlapping width which proved hard to deal with in the SPL last year. It's for this reason that he is perhaps in the team, getting the nod over Molly Killanen, who will no doubt be back for the World Cup.

19. CB Grant Carlin, 22 | Image 1860 Azoth | Height:188cm Weight:77kg | Caps: 6 Goals: 0
Grant Carlin was the first New Island player to be capped for Schottia in over 20 years at the last IAC. The former DBC captain, and Olympic games semi-finalist has created a lot of buzz over the past couple of years, showing a maturity far beyond his years. New Island had dearly hoped to hold onto the player who was on a long term contract, but after 1860 Azoth came knocking, there was only ever going to be one outcome. The decision proved to be a good one, as Carlin helped the Cenian side lift the Champions' Cup, defeating the team he supported as a child, Handon United, in the grand final.

16. CB. Stephen Paul, 29 | Image Falourr | Height:182cm Weight:81kg | Caps: 54 Goals: 2
Extremely reliable, strong, no-nonsense - they are all the words you would normally like to hear in association with a centre-back. Paul is one of the massive success stories of the Regional Development Academy, going from total unknown, to Schottia international almost overnight. After being picked up by Euran side, Falourr, Paul has gone on to win over fifty caps for his country, and was a key man during the last World Cup campaign.

17. LM/F. Chloe Rudden, 30 | Image Sabrefell Athletic | Height:172cm Weight:60kg | Caps: 92 Goals: 22
Rudden is an immensely popular member of the current squad and a huge fan's favourite. The wing-forward has played her entire professional career in Nephara, spending a decade with North Laithland, before joining up with giants, Sabrefell Athletic. Even at thirty, Rudden is still the fastest player in the squad, and her blistering pace down the left flank has been a big feature of Schottia's play since she received her first cap twelve years ago. She has probably reached the top of the hill in terms of her development, and is now vying with Rexmont, who is still on the climb. Both are very good left wingers who offer something a little different; and Rudden undoubtedly still has a big part to play for Schottia.

20. CM/CF. Dilon Bánach, 21 | Image Handon United | Height: 171cm. Weight: 63kg | Caps: 11 Goals: 3
Dilon Bánach took the SPL by storm three years ago, while on loan at Port James Athletic. On her return to her parent club, she was instantly thrust into to starting line-up of Jane Gullie's new look United side, where she has been a key player ever since. Despite starting her career as a tricky little centre-forward, Bánach has excelled since switching to a much deeper position, where she has grown into a complete midfielder, with a great range of passing. Bánach has been part of Schottia's WC finals, and IAC squads, and has already started six matches for her nation.

12. CM Natalie Adams, 23 | Image Handon United | Height: 175cm. Weight: 65kg | Caps: 0 Goals: 0
This will be Adams' first opportunity to pull on a Schottia jersey since stating her intentions to play for the Tyranian nation. Capped at U21 level for the Unified Sunrise Islands, the 23-year-old opted to stay behind in the SPL, having made the Schottic capital Handon her home. 'Envy,' as is emblazoned in the back of her shirt, was player of the year in the SPL last season, and was instrumental in Handon United's turn around in fortunes. A flamboyant and creative playmaker, Adams is possibly as good as anyone in this current squad, but Lionel Mah has made it clear she will need to fight for her place.

22. CM. Vincent Verbeck, 24 | Image Zoloroni Metropolitan | Height:185cm Weight:72kg | Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Called up to the squad here, so Mah and Donaldson can take a look at the player who has been winning rave reviews in Mercedini. Verbeck has actually never played in Schottia, having joined Project +90 as a kid, before moving to Zoloroni Metropolitan after turning 21. He seems to be doing fairly well in the Mercedinian Premier League, which continues to grow in profile, and the Eagle's Cup will be a chance for Verbeck to prove himself, as Lionel Mah looks to deepen the playing pool. The 24-year-old appears to have an eye for goal, which should stand him in good stead.

21. AMRC/CM FC. Kim Coultan, 31 | Image Crawford City | Height:160cm Weight:53kg | Caps: 102 Goals: 30
The Crawford City girl probably now moves into the 'Legend' category, and has been one of the shining lights of the Schottia team for nearly fourteen years. Her creativity, one-touch passes, and goal scoring ability have made her a huge hit under three different Schottic managers. Like many of the nations aging stars, she was left out of the IAC last year, but has been brought back into this close to full strength squad for the Eagle's Cup. Despite a decorated international career, where she reached the 100 caps mark during the WC quarterfinal, her lack of domestic success will be a real source of personal frustration. Coultan faces real competition now from Marine Coast's Camila Luna, but given the fact that she is also cover for about four positions, we will certainly see a great deal of her.

9. FC. Višnja Brankovič, 30 | Image Eastern Stars | Height:177cm Weight: 62kg | Caps: 23 Goals: 11
The Schottic Regional Development graduate made a big splash for Cenian side Lake Cenial Chimeras, with an incredible 87 goals in her three seasons there, easily making her one of Schottia's most prolific goal scorers. With the CeniLeague's merger three years ago, she moved to Isle of Avon side, Eastern Stars, where she seems to be making an impact. She was a big player for Schottia during the last WC, surprising a few people by making the plane for the finals. The success Eastern Stars have experienced recently will also have pushed her to the forefront of the manager's mind. Brankovic, who is of Syaran parentage, has an undergraduate law degree, and has just completed a part-time Master's degree.

18. FC. Ross Renshaw, 22 | Image Blue Coast 1981 | Height:181cm Weight: 71kg | Caps: 9 Goals: 4
You get the feeling Ross Renshaw might not be at Blue Coast 1981 for much longer. This old-fashioned, straight-laced striker has been on sensational form for the San Marco side, helping them to two league titles, as well as impressive runs in both the Globe Cup and Champions' Cup recently. After winning a smattering of caps during the last World Cup campaign, Renshaw did well acting as understudy to Martel-Burns in the IAC-3 - his goals no doubt proving crucial. His inclusion here clearly means that Lionel Mah sees him as someone who has a big future over the next couple of years.

Schottia
Situated in the middle of the Mirkford Ocean, Schottia is a small diverse country of 6.6 million people. Throughout the world, Schottia is best known for its progressive social policies, far left politics, and whisky distilleries. The southern Schottic landscape is largely characterised by arable farmland, pine forests, and windswept pebble beaches. The North Island, by contrast, is almost entirely made up of rugged mountain ranges and bleak scree-slopes, where the towns and cities, for the most part, hug the narrow bands of flat land around the coast.

Schottia was once the easternmost part of an Ossorian Empire, the remnants of which still stretch around most of what are now the region of Tyran. Schottia broke away from the Ossorians in 1867, following internal unrests, which saw the small fledgling nation take the first steps down the road towards becoming a republic. Schottia as we know it today was constituted in 1922, following a workers' uprising, out of which the country's socialist politics was born.

Today, Schottia is a small, peaceful nation; with thriving fishing, tourism, and drinks industries. Most people living in South Schottia are ethnically Schottic or Ossorian, although particularly in the bigger cities, you will meet a range of people from all over the region, who have at one point fled major conflicts, or simply chosen to study or settle. The North Island of Schottia is similar, however it also has a large Shalumite-German population, as well as pockets of French speaking communities.

Handon
The most international of all Schottia's cities is its capital Handon. The diverse population of 1.1 million includes over 200,000 students who attend the city's four universities and five technical colleges. The harbour city is a unique blend of the old and the new, with modern buildings slotted into gap sites around 17th and 18th century architecture. Of all Schottia's towns and cities Handon is by far the most vibrant, with award winning restaurants, clubs, and bars; as well as no shortage of excellent hotels and apartments. For most people, Handon is synonymous with Schottia, and it is often the case that visitors rarely take time to see some of the more remote, rural communities. Built on a peninsula, the south of the city is what many would consider to be the 'city centre.' As well as being the location of Harbour Hill Stadium, it is also home to all of the main administrative buildings, and the more affluent parts of the city.

Travel
Getting to Schottia is reasonably straight forward, if not a little time consuming. Despite the fact that the country consists of five islands, it is unlikely that many visitors will arrive by sea, due to the distances involved. Almost everyone arriving in the country, either fans or players, will fly into Handon International Airport. H.I.A handles almost all of the nation's incoming flights, as well as being a main stop off northwest in or out of the region. Anyone arriving by sea will most likely dock at the ferry terminal in Granton, just to the north of Handon.

Travel within Schottia is usually pretty painless. Public transport it well funded, and free bus and tram services make getting around the cities cheap, and stress free. For longer distances, all major towns and cities are connected by a high-speed rail service. Schottic citizens pay high levels of tax, but one of the plus sides is that they have a public transport system that works.

Languages
The official languages of Schottia are Scots, English, German, and French, however, English is the one most likely to be heard in the streets. Most people living in Schottia are multilingual, speaking combinations of the four national languages, depending on the area they were born. In addition to this, there is a heavy emphasis on languages in schools from the age of five onwards, meaning that it is not unusual for Schottians to speak up to four or five of the main regional languages with some degree of fluency.

Weather
Most of Schottia has a temperate maritime climate, with warm summers typically around 25°C, and cool snowy winters ranging from -8 to +8°C. Whatever time of the year you're fans and players are visiting Schottia, it is likely to be wet, and it's perhaps best to bring an umbrella.

Currency and Shopping
The currency in Schottia is the Schottic Pound. The current exchange rate is just under two NS dollars to the pound, meaning that certain luxury goods might seem expensive. On the flip side of this, food in the supermarkets is available at cost price, as is clothing in government stores - the same can also be said for most non-luxury items. Schottia isn't exactly one of the world's main shopping centres, and strict rules on advertising can often mean that the High Streets can seem a little drab to those more used to eye-catching posters, and flashy billboards. That said, the larger more international cities of Soessch and Handon have their fair share of fashion outlets, and foreign eateries. While these regulations might have limited the expansion of international businesses, the gap in the market has been filled up small independent clothing boutiques, family-run bars, and restaurants.

Electrum National Football Team
presented by Electrum Football

General Information
It's their first tournament back from the World Cup, and after skipping the regional tournaments due to Jeffery Clark's longstanding policy of resting international players so that they aren't overworked, he has accepted the invitation of the Eagle's Club on behalf of the Electrumite team to participate in the seventh Eagle's Cup as reigning World Cup Champions. It has simply been a whirlwind after the Electrumite's historic victory over Eura in the 78th World Cup in Ramusok -- their victory was scarcely believable, even by Electrumites themselves. Now, they have a reputation to uphold: they've leapt from 21st to 6th in the world, and as former giant-killers they are now the ones that are going to be hunted. There have been a few changes to the team since their World Cup victory, but nothing too major. The Electrumite kits have also been updated thanks to their current (as well as former) supplier, Meski. This tournament is the opportunity for the Electrumites to show that their World Cup victory was not just another one time phenomenon, but hopefully the start of a new era for Electrumite football. Historically, the team has played a rather defensive kind of football, but in recent years this has been pared back to a neutral style.

Coaching Staff
Manager: Jeffery Clark
Assistant Manager: Jemima Bryant

Jeffery Clark is the man that is synonymous with elite Electrumite football. After years of experience managing Centralis Heart, one of COTEFA's greatest exports, he was cherry picked by Electrum Football to head the national team to reinvigorate the team. More specifically, he was appointed to replicate Centralis Heart's surprising run into the semifinals of the Champions' Cup but this time, he was tasked with improving the team's performance in the World Cup qualification and proper. He achieved qualification with mixed results: it seemed that every edition, Electrum would be scraping into the qualifications, and only on very rare occasions make it to the knock-out rounds. He was working from one one-year contract to the next, of course, until what happened in World Cup 78. Despite the Electrumite team coming in second in both qualification and final groups, he's managed to instil a sense of drive into the team in those crucial high-pressure matches. Jemima Bryant, who was hand-picked by Clark himself is not known for her football managing experience, but she makes up for her inexperience with data analysis skills, identifying Electrum's best talent and also the head of Electrum's development program. She is an expert in player management, and uses algorithms and other techniques popularised by former Electrumite development manager Risa Shigaraki to fully optimise player performance on the pitch. She is constantly seen next to Jeffery Clark on her tablet and assists Clark where necessary.

Roster
Starting XI
#1 Sam Kara - 27 - GK - Image Somer City and Surrounds
A trustworthy and reliable goalkeeper in the mould of Fenech, Electrum's former goalkeeper. Very athletic and fast and can change directions quickly. Likes to research about the kicking preferences of opposing strikers which may give him the edge in penalties. Doesn't have a big wingspan.

#6 Jason McGann - 31 - DF - Image Somer City and Surrounds
A very physical and emotional defender, likes to get into people's faces and has been penalised several times as a result. Loves to tackle but sometimes takes it too far. This is set to be his last tournament as he focuses more on his domestic career.

#8 Tyler Fernando (c) - 32 - MF - Image Centralis Heart
Energetic and athletic with an impressive workrate, Fernando is a natural leader that likes to assist his team where ever possible. This is helped by the fact that he is also a very smart player, always in the right position in the right time. Always knows what to say to rev up the team.

#12 Jake Ingram (vc) - 36 - MF - Image Sporting Cenial
Recently sidelined because of an injury, the ageing Ingram has managed to negotiate one final hurrah, making his way back into the team. Although Ingram shares the vice-captaincy with Young, Ingram represents the old guard and is the talisman of the Electrum team of previous cycles. His relatively weak stamina is made up for with technical precision and polish. He just knows how to make the perfect pass every time. Replaces Klein from winning WC78 team because of his own knee injury.

#13 Derek Young (vc) - 29 - DF - Image Deportivo Junín
Although he spends most of his time away from Electrum in Valladares, his experience in the Valladar gives him a lot of experience of going up against more offensive teams. Very good with tackles and stealing the ball away. Played a key role in helping his club becoming champions of Valladares a few seasons ago. Also shares the vice-captaincy with Ingram.

#15 Anthony Ho - 26 - MF - Image Falourr
One of a few Electrumites to play in Eura, Anthony Ho is rather timid. He has great footwork and his agility but he's rather hesitant in taking that final step in tackling despite being able to catch up to his opponents all the time.

#17 Abigail Knight - 31 - FW - Image Vaduz Portcullis
One of Electrum's top strikers, she's not as strong as Latham, but she makes up for that with finesse and being able to just track the ball and dribbling past opposing defenders as necessary.

#18 Alan Moore - 26 - DF - Image Directus
One of Electrum's very best players, and if Boldsport is to be believed, one of the top six players in the multiverse right now. He is a pivotal member of the defence, and is a future leadership prospect. He commands a presence on the field, for he is both tall and strong. Hard to get a ball past Moore.

#19 Mitch Watkins - 30 - DF - Image FC Fairleigh-Warburton
One of the jokers of the team, Watkins is more well known for his role in attacking set pieces as well as his ability to cover very large areas because of his very tall, yet lanky body. He's also the tallest. Unusually, he's also ambidextrous though he usually kicks with his right foot.

#25 Nicholas Henry - 33 - MF - Image FC Fairleigh-Warburton
Henry on the right wing, picks up some of the slack from Ingram. When Ingram stays behind, Henry charges forward and creates those scoring opportunities. He's one of the fastest players on the team and can maintain that intensity for long periods of time. Offensively, he's the person with the biggest impact.

#28 Jake Latham - 32 - FW - Image Burnton 1963
If there's a defensive gap, Latham's going to be there to exploit that opportunity. Unquestionably, he's a finisher and he's also the stronger of the two Electrumites up front. Despite this, he's pretty slow on his feet and is sometimes caught out of position when the tide turns.

SBCNEWS Online...
Sports special - Larry Watt Interview

The first thing that you notice about Larry Watt, it that he's a normal guy. Having had the honour of interviewing a lot of Schottia players over the years, I can tell you with a degree of certainty, that in this instance, normality is an oddity. This sense of 'normal' is reflected in his small family apartment, looking out over lake Cenial, which he shares with his partner Anna and his twin daughters Sarah and Laura. Compact, minimally decorated, the walls of the sitting-room are lined with book - the tattered pages of children's literature stuffed into the spaces between the cookery books and works of classical note. A piano sits in the corner, alongside two sheet-music stands, both lowered to waist height, no doubt for the twins practicing for their school concerts.

The flat is light, peaceful, airy, but it has feels lived in and used. The sofa looks sat on, the rugs trodden on, and the detritus of family life has been tidied to one side rather than tidied away. The place is missing the empty beer bottles or the white elephant expenditure that clutter so many extravagantly furnished footballers' homes, but the place looks all the richer for their omission. As I sit down to accept my cup of tea and politely refuse a biscuit, I realise how much this fits with the on field profile of the quite man of Schottic football.

'It's been quite an eighteen months...'

Larry tells me with a smile as he removes a book from the armchair opposite and sits down. He's right of course, what with Schottia's third place finish at the World Cup, winning his third league title with 1860 Azoth, and that historic Champions' Cup win - all before being named the best right-back in the world in Bonesport's Galacticos Index.

'I can only assume they were drunk - very, very drunk...'

Larry jokes with all the humility that anyone who knows him has come to expect; and in all honesty, it's hard to say what it would take to get him overly excited. This attitude reflects in the way he plays: composed, measured, calm (I could basically just got through the thesaurus entry for composed, so I'll spare you the litany). You couldn't imagine that Larry has picked up many man of the match awards compared to some other players - there are certainly no magnums of Champaign sitting around - but all the same, he is one of the first names most people would want on the team sheet.

I was once speaking to his fellow Schottia star, Kim Coultan, back in Jane Gullie's time as manager, when the Crawford City star used to play on the right side of midfield. I remember asking her how she found it, adjusting to playing wide right, when she operated more as a second striker in Cosumar. She told me that it was easy, because she knew she had Larry Watt playing behind her.

That's the thing; Larry is a footballer's footballer. The kind of player you'd love to play along side, even if the fans scream themselves hoarse at his apparent reluctance to take defenders on and get to the by-line.

'Don't get me wrong, it's obviously nice to get recognised. All I'm saying is that these things need to be taken with a pinch of salt. The real reward is winning matches on the pitch, and for that, everyone in the team takes equal credit...'

He responds insightfully, when I suggest that the judges might not have been so drunk after all. We agree in the end that alcohol perhaps allows you to look beyond the glitz and glamour - the only concession he is willing to make.

'Yeah Marionville is still a place I think about regularly; I've got nothing but happy memories from my time there...'

As most of you will know, Larry started his career with Marionville, long before Schottia received its UICA accreditation. As he reminds me, they had good team back then. Lachlan Frazer was one of the best wingers in the league at the time, David Daller was playing for Schottia, and Gary Corsie was there on loan. Pre-UICA money, the Boys were one of the strongest sides in the league, their ranks swollen with home-grown talent.

'No I don't think it's sad...'

He replies (with a sigh of sadness) when I ask his thoughts on the transformation the SPL has gone through.

'We have to be open to change or we're finished. Everything is changing all the time, you need to accept that a go with the grain or you just get left behind, it's merciless. In some ways it's sad to see brilliant little clubs like Hollin, and La Gorlions struggle against the financial tide, but when you see Schottic clubs doing well on the world stage and top professionals swarming to those shores, you realise it's worth it...'

Of course in Larry's time, Schottic players needed to move abroad in search of international domestic success, and he too was tempted by the carrot of UICA football.

' Heading to the Craftsmen [Blau-Weiss Pallstadt] was the right move at the time...'

Following on from Schottia's U21 success Larry got his big move, signing for Buyanese side Blau-Weiss Pallstadt in a $2,500,000 deal. Their DBC win was the signal for the floodgates to open as all of a sudden people began taking notice of Schottia's rising stars. Many of young men and woman seized upon this, and took the opportunity to move abroad.

'The Di Bradini Cup was the first time we had won anything; we were just in uncharted waters back then...'

After spending a season on the bench for Helmut Kullersdorf's side, Larry was handed the big news that he would be starting the next again year, following the expected retirement of Apoxian, Christopher Orani. However, disaster struck.

'It was devastating - devastating. There's no way to paint any sort of a gloss on it. When I heard the Top League was finished, the bottom just fell out my world. All these things start going through your head: Will you find another club? Another home? Anna was pregnant with the girls at the time and we were looking forward to being settled...'

After the league in Buyan went to the wall, Larry was left in limbo, a difficult position for any player. It wasn't long after he had received what was to be the first of his many senior caps, and for a young man of 22, the uncertainty was likely unbearable. However, for the fledgling Schottia star, help was on the horizon.

'No no no, it was the Cenian Premier League back then...'

Larry says, somewhat embarrassingly correcting my football knowledge. He then, rather helpfully proceeds to remind me that it was the following year that the CeniLeague came into existence.

'You've got to remember, back then, Ceni weren't the force they are today, especially not in a domestic sense. I was taking a risk for sure. The manager of Azoth at the time was a guy called Will Lobo, whom I actually learned a great deal from. It was just after the collapse of the MPL so, like, everything was kind of up in the air at that point. That was how I'd heard of the club [1860 Azoth], I remembered them competing in the MPL...'

Azoth were only predicted to finish mid-table that season, Larry reminisces, having had a poor season defensively the year previous.

'Makio [Halse] and I were both brought in that season the shore up the defence, and I remember that being quite a lot of pressure. It was a decent wee team back then though: Blaze was obviously a top class captain, Falconiušam [Ebash] was phenomenal back then too, I think he was only about sixteen at the time. We went on to finish 9th that year which was disappointing, but I must have done something right, as I came 4th in the golden ball...

Larry laughs this off apologetically, but the truth is he had a good first season at the Cenial club. The defender also made the team of the year, alongside some other names for the future: Gareth Souter, Kel Koromin, and Jake Ingram. Inadvertently Larry had become part of the initial migration of Schottic player into the Cenian league system, which would go on to be a bit of a home-from-home for many of our nation's sporting stars.

'Yeah there is quite a few of us there now. Little Schottia I should maybe call it. All jokes aside though, I think the culture, and the playing style have some similarities - I generally find I get on well with Cenians. It's more attack minded than the SPL though, I would say...'

Any disappointment Larry felt at their poor league position was to be short lived, as 1860 Azoth went on to win two titles in the CeniLeague era, along with the Cenian Cup: it was a period in which he was also acting as a linchpin in the Schottic defence.

'At the time... Well it was a mixed bag really. As far as things in Cenial were going I couldn't have been happier. The girls were starting school, we were performing well in the league, there were trophies, there was UICA football. But it was also a difficult time for the Schottia team. There was a feeling things were going backwards, World Cup 75 qualifying was turning into a disaster, there were players at each other’s throats - I don't think any of us escaped the blame fully...'

Larry seems to still bear a fair amount of responsibility, having captained Schottia during the ill-fated WC-75 campaign. It was a difficult time for the nation, the Jane Gullie era was crumbling, and the team seemed unable to make the step up from mid-ranked side, despite back-to-back qualifications. I can't imagine there are many fans who blame Larry for that poor run, but that's clearly not how it feels to him. As I watch him staring wistfully into his cup of tea I can't help but wonder how many of the team feel the genuine sense of guilt that he does, this empathy, and genuine thoughtfulness is probably where he draws his strength.

I've always considered myself a lucky player...

The smile returns to his face, as we move on to the next phase in his career. The incredible turn around in form both domestically, and internationally, flipping Larry's career 180 degrees, just as most professionals are thinking about winding down.

Lucky, as in, I've quite often been in the right place at the right time. I've grown with both Schottia and Azoth, and I feel I've gotten as much from them as they have from me. I still consider myself part of the national team of a small country, and part of club in a small league, so when you say Schottia are ranked number one in the world and Azoth just won the Champions' Cup I need to pinch myself...'

Larry Watt is living proof that there is reward in keeping your head down, working hard, and showing loyalty. Larry is 33-year-old, and if you'd asked most fans of Multiverse football who he was up until a year ago, they probably wouldn't have known. The former Marionville and BW- Pallstadt man has experienced ups and downs, he has been at the top of the footballing pile, but he has also been rock bottom. He's lifted trophies, and won person acclaim, but he's also been unemployed, and standing right at the bottom peering up through the clouds towards the summit.

As the interview comes to an end and his daughters come tentatively back into the room to see what the fuss was about, I start to realise that the success hasn't changed Larry one bit. Something else that I realise (all national bias to one side) is that he is exactly the sort of person I generally hope than good things happen to. Maybe the people in life who deserve success the most, are those who will be changed least by it.

The parliamentary republic of Zwangzug, an antisocial social democracy now approaching its eleventh birthday (the decimal system is passe) has a long and--dare we say it--checkered history. The original national team competed through World Cup (qualifying campaign)s 33 through 42; a successor team participated in 64 through 69. After a hiatus caused by the country's sudden and devastating retreat into isolationism, a temporary recovery was made, and the national league (the 1./) which had emerged with the second iteration of the NT resumed play. We did win the most recent edition of this thing, though! And very occasionally edit issues.

Motobuchi is formerly of Eintracht Trink; they and both Namiris contested an extremely close title race in the most recent (yet to be posted) season. Bassabook Old Boys (runners-up in Champions' Cup 64) are considered our best UICA club at the moment.

Colors: White with black stripes. Or black with white stripes. We go for the basics.

Stadium information
MD 4 against Nephara: Eagles' Club, Forbridge (inaugural match for this stadium)
MD 5 against Bedistan: Stelladome, Fulpog
MD 6 against Turori: Wayr Stadium, Rackham Range

More than you probably wanted to know about Zwangzug can be found in our factbook, unless what you wanted to know was...relevant to modern happenings such as the football team/league, in which case probably you're out of luck until the biographer is motivated to go back to work. Don't hold your breath (but feel free to motivate).

If RPing first, please feel free to name goalscorers, injure, and distribute cards to my players at will! You can also godmod events, though I'd appreciate advance warning if you want to take narrative liberties that I couldn't just as easily do to your team (due to being, e.g., an MT, all-human country). Put another way, metaphorical "godmodding" is welcome if clever, but I'd avoid the literal sense.

Home Away

Manager
Tobias Möller Image
Age: 50
Sacked from his job as Pasarga's national team manager despite getting them to the knockouts, Möller's availability and known preference for attacking tactics made him a prime candidate for the job. Considered to be a good balance to the defensive minded Tracey as the assistant, the VSC is hoping that the former international star can relaunch his international pedigree and get the Marauders back on track towards winning trophies.

Assistant Manager
Wisdom Tracey Image (F)
Age: 32
A more defensive minded manager than is typically associated with Vanorian national team programs and will no doubt be attempting to get her manager to attempt to implment her favored 4-4-2 defensive diamond formation. While Wisdom had been hoping to get the full managerial job, the VSC decided her age leant more towards an assistant role with a possible promotion in two to three cycles.

Keeper

1 Aediron Galadirdren, Ibini FC
Age - 691
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 174 lbs
Galadirdren looks to be the long term solution for the Marauders in net after several stellar seasons in the domestic scene with Ibini FC. While not loud and "in control" of his box, the keeper is very good when the opposition has a breakaway, as well as some amazing reflexes. His best attribute though is his near perfect position, always seeming to know where the opposition is going to place their shots or crosses.

Defenders

2 Morlaithan Aldamiel, AC Izotz Zubia Image
Age - 704
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 162 lbs
A tough and quiet sort at the back, more physical than your usual Vanorian centerback thanks to the years that he has played in Audioslavia. More of a stay at home defender than the rest of the backline and more prone the occasional card due to the more physical nature.

3 Rainyardil Toraandal, Avenida Principal Image
Age - 663
Sex - M
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 168 lbs
Toraandal is deceptively fast and agile for a person of his size and also very keen to get in on the attack during prolonged spells in the opponents third. With his size and pure athletic ability, he has a knack for getting open in the box and heading home his fair share of goals, though it is his stern defending that is the reason that he was put on to the starting eleven.

4 Revhil Lardireil, Hondo FC
Age - 662
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 171 lbs
Like Toraandal, Lardireil is used to getting into the attack, having spent the majority of his career at Hondo with their attacking flavor. However he has the speed of a cheetah and the strength of an elephant, most likely the most versatile of the three defenders that the side uses.

Midfield

21 Espy va Drake, 1830 Cathair Image
Age: 767
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 159 lbs
After becoming a folklore hero for the lower class of the world, va Drake has made himself one of the living legends of the game after help leading the side to a title in World Cup 53. He has traveled far and wide while plying his trade, donning kits for no less than five countries clubs. Seen as the driving force in the middle of the park alongside Hawk, it is up to the opposition to try and figure out how to deal with the brilliance the winger and his other attackers have rather than them to create magic.

6 Caeltimyonan Haerear, Mar Sara FC
Age - 622
Sex - M
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 163 lbs
Coming from Mar Sara you would expect Haerear to be more of an attacking option, yet the midfielder is more of a box to box playmaker than the attacking midfielders usually coming from the Flames. Not overly fast or physical but Haerear has a motor that never quits, never giving up on a play or a game despite how dire the situation may be.

10 Laborious Hawk, AC Izotz Zubia Image
Age - 731
Sex -M
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 213 lbs
Words do not even begin to define his talent, his talent defines words. He was awarded one of the spots that the Vanorians have in the World Cup Hall of Fame, with it being very well deserved, as he has and continues to earn everything he has been given every single day. Hawk simply strives to be the very best footballer, captain, and teammate that there can be, with the hunger for perfection driving him forth on and off the pitch.

8 Ilglerdiriel Lithvathar, Raynor City United
Age - 737
Sex - F
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 149 lbs
Lithvathar is much like va Drake, a floater who is dynamic in attack but with enough speed and sense of the pitch to make up on any sort of defensive lapse. Yet unlike her flankmate, she is not nearly as skilled, but do not let that fool you, in a moment of magic she can undress an entire backline and set up more prolific scorers with easy chances.

7 Faeron Soldarian, 1830 Cathair Image
Age - 645
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 163 lbs
Soldarian continues to live in the shadow of more well known players both on the national team and with his club. Despite this, Soldarian is seen by all on the squad as the emotional leader and the linchpin the in the middle that allows the more attacking minded midfielders being allowed to play their game.

Strikers

9 Allandren Fresco, Ibini FC
Age - 520
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 167 lbs
Fresco continues to lead the line of the attack, being the tip of the spear that is the Marauders offensive movement. By now most teams know of the striker's pace and near laser guided shot, however the striker still somehow finds ways to bring in the goals.

11 Galasgoldas Tathtauré, OAS Royal FC Image
Age - 602
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 157 lbs
A more finesse striker than what Fresco is used to being paired with, Tathtauré has the speed to run past opponents with plenty of dribbling skill to work around multiple defenders. While not as strong as Celetholtinu was, Galasgoldas can still play a hold up role in a pinch.

Subs
13 GK Legoion Taltauré, age 687, Char Sara FC
20 GK Belltarion Nartalhûn, age 601, AC Valanari
15 CB Bronlanda Culiththir, age 605, Char Sara FC (F)
16 CB Urúvdion Shatholryl, age 670, Wexax United
17 CB Ainglad Gwavaul, age 611, Hondo FC

(OOC: Posting may be sporadic over the weekend, not sure what access I'll have. I'll try to be around for the second half!)

Misako was nine when she got her cat and it was the best gift ever, better even then the Trink shirt she'd gotten the year before. Her kitten had the instincts of a playful midfielder, adventurous, leaping and striving for every target that could cross its path. But when it had run itself into exhaustion, or Misako's cramps wore her down, then they would curl up together in some bright place, seeking what warmth they could muster and stretching spent paws.

Feeding the cat grew to be more of a habit, less of a pleasure, as Misako aged, but still she carried out her duty as extracurriculars mounted and she kept pace, tore past, every opponent in her midst, and dared to dream she might outshine hurdles yet glimpses in her mind. The cat, in turn, grew contented and slower, more of an ambling veteran gesticulating advice from the bench (the bench was the top of Misako's couch, which her parents bemoaned of replacing but never really got around to).

One day she came home from practice late, her backpack drooping asymmetrically over one shoulder, and her cat wasn't there. This made her concerned; it wasn't like the cat to be energetic and run off anymore, but neither of her parents nor her little brother had seen where it had gotten to. Though she watched the neighborhood and the neighbors all up and down the apartment block kept their eyes out, nobody could find heads or particularly tails of it, and her teammates could only offer their condolences.

The only person who seemed to have any theories was Goro, who was a couple seasons older than her not in the calendric sense but in the nebulous "technically not affiliated with Eintracht Trink's youth association sense but hoping to go to a nearby college and stay involved with their scouts" sense, and always made time to laugh at her young energy and curiosity. "Ah, little one. Your cat has the second sight; it's gone looking for a soul forest."

"A forest?" Misako laughed. There were forests all around, of course, if you went to a district park or reserve or something, but not in the apartment complexes there weren't. "Next you'll be telling me I can use the second sight to aim my passes all the better."

"Not that kind of sight," Goro laughed. "It's just a cat anyway, it's not like it could leave you a note."

"Just a cat?" Misako fumed, and all the drudgery of chores were forgotten in her indignation. Goro scoffed, she mourned all the more, and they went their separate ways once again. Soon enough he would make other plans than football, she would outstrip even him with her speed and precision and it would be not just the universities that took note. Pets and stories were far from her mind as she grew; there was a country that awaited her, and maybe, beyond that, another world.

The Spenson Star

After the bizarre title race that was season 21, Franklin Motobuchi has emerged at the head of the national team, ready to lead the occasional team Zwangzug on its quest to defend the Eagle's Cup. The big news, perhaps, is that having won the tournament last time around, the country gets to open a branch of the selective fraternity within its own borders, and has elected to do so in Forbridge. Symbolic no doubt, a tribute to the original national team's legendary beginnings and end, the new park seems to once again give the indication that football has taken its own hold here on its own terms; yes, the national team doesn't necessarily stick around very often on the international scale, but the league endures and so too does the sport's place in fans hearts and minds.

Seven players remain from the previous side; all Y-chromosomed, as it happens. (Perhaps the young women who bizarrely wound up starring for the Bassabook Old Boys, having finally gotten a bit too old for this level, would have something to do with that?) Namirites Harshit Mistry (of Forest) and Turan Gul (of Independent) are familiar faces on the back line, with the latter taking over as captain, while Caleb Upsil-Coyne takes over in defensive midfield. Many faces might be familiar to fans of the new contenders even if their exploits have not been well-chronicled. On the flip side, Ariadne Ge is the rare bright spot in a continually dire FTC United squad. Kim Higden, of Rovers United, becomes the first Picksall Islander to play for the national team.

Style Modifier: 0
Home Stadium: The Farham Arena in Sabrefell. Capacity of 88,000, no attached club.
Kit Supplier: Kirola
Nickname: The Cormorants

Nephara needs this. It's telling that there's been relatively little turnover in the squad - only Adnan Szalai and Sieglinde Lohengrin have been rested - as Brandon looks for the next trophy. He's cut a restless figure in his first job, but there's a growing acceptance in Nephara that culture within the Cormorants was beginning to eat itself, and Brandon is the solution that sets everything on fire. Nothing is sacred in his quest for silverware.

Overall Record

First Team and Tactics
Image
As always, the Cormorants play hard, physical and compact football on the defensive and quick, broad and ruthless on the attack, especially loving to absorb pressure and hit on the break. Set pieces are also something of a specialty.

Brandon has built on Fegelein's ideas and changed the team's focus. Nephara is back to pressing high, with a sweeping goalkeeper in Tsattalios, attacking fullbacks, a powerful spine, some very quick and powerful wingers, Gosforth linking midfield to the big, physical and fast striker up front. Brandon is very much in favour of tinkering mid-match, however, and is entirely comfortable in a variety of formations - mostly 4-3-3 and 4-4-2.

Staff
Manager - Michael Brandon - Age 45
Assistant Manager - Tom Riley (EUR) - Age 51

Michael Brandon - a legendary figure for the Cormorants and Directus as a holding midfielder, Nephara's first ever player to be widely regarded as world-class - has taken his incisive knowledge of the sport and razor-sharp intellect into coaching. He's an uncompromising leader who demands absolute loyalty and high performance from his players, and early signs in his first managerial role are promising. Tom Riley, a noteworthy former player as well, has been brought in as his assistant, and is the first foreign management staff in the Cormorants' history.

Goalkeepers
Core
1 - GK - Apostolos Tsattalios (Image Falourr) - Age 27 - 36 caps, 16 clean sheets
A very modern goalkeeper who sweeps behind the defence and has excellent distribution, Tsattalios has had a bumpy road to success but is still young in goalkeeping terms.

12 - GK - Gideon Fletcher (Image AFC Treason) - Age 31 - 28 caps, 12 clean sheets
An outstanding traditional shot-stopper, representing a steady pair of hands. Most Nepharim believe he should be the regular starter, but Brandon appears to favour Tsattalios.

20 - GK - Andreas Swoboda (Image 1860 Azoth) - Age 26 - Uncapped
A capable, reliable goalkeeper. Pretty much good at everything, though not particularly outstanding in any one department.

Defenders
2 - RB - Leona Rafford (Image Crisisbless) - Age 24 - 29 caps, 3 goals
A true larrikin on and off the pitch, with a decidedly combative streak. Lightning-quick running down the right, not letting her diminutive stature stop her.

3 - LB - Lux Vicelich (Image Sabrefell Moths) - Age 22 - Uncapped
Another quick, spiky fullback, with a distinctly dirty streak. A street kid from the Moths with a rough past, but a very bright future. Loves to go forward and can drop a cross on anything.

5 - CB - Dieter Konoval (Image KT Moreazerua) - Age 27 - 54 caps
A bruiser at his core, Konoval's most at home bullying small, weak forwards. Not as tall as some might expect, but a deceptively quick sprinter.

6 - CB - Ryan Theuer (Image Falourr) - Age 27 - Uncapped
An athletic centre-back, strong as oak and deceptively quick. Pretty good at passing, too. Very quiet on and off the pitch, but radiates authority.

18 - RB/CB - Danijel Brymora (Image Brinemouth) - Age 25 - 12 caps
A sturdy, defensive fullback, or a technically proficient centre-half - Brymora's versatile and very intelligent to match his physicality.

19 - LB - Isidra Jeurissen (Image Coret Hawks) - Age 24 - 15 caps
Quick and coltish, half-Apoxian Jeurissen's less violent than her compatriots but more than makes up for it in technique and field vision.

22 - CB - Dragora Steelhenge (Image Parrhesia United) - Age 22 - Uncapped
A tall, assured centre-half who belies her age with a regal bearing and a real bite in the tackle. Mentally resolute.

Midfielders
4 - CM - Servet Misidjan (Image AFC Treason) - Age 23 - 5 caps
A very promising young midfielder, an elegant, austere and hard-running player with wonderful technique and intelligence on the ball. Still, she's not quite there yet, and can fade out of games.

7 - RM - Ishtar Fanaiyan (Image AFC Serpentine) - Age 21 - Uncapped
Iskandrian by birth, Fanaiyan's endured terrible hardships and will take nothing for granted as a professional. Lightning-quick, a bastion of athleticism.

8 - CM - Vedran Tarashaj (Image AFC Treason) - Age 26 - 38 caps, 8 goals
Muscular, quick and fiery to a fault, Tarashaj has a habit of letting his emotions get the best of him. When he's focused, he's a brilliant box-to-box player with a ferocious shot.

11 - LM - Rowena Strongbow (Image Avenida Leal) - Age 21 - 13 caps, 3 goals
A powerful, old-school Nepharim winger who burst onto the scene last season and has impressed everyone in qualifying. Shaping up to be genuinely world-class, but for now her technique's a little unpolished.

13 - RM - Andrea Bereveskos (Image Sabrefell Athletic) - Age 26 - 26 caps, 6 goals
A clever, cunning winger who has a way of arrowing down the flank into the right place at the right time. Entirely two-footed and one of the quickest sprinters in world football.

14 - AM - Konrad Gosforth (Image Mâ Âlâmëómë, c) - Age 27 - 49 caps, 12 goals
A clinical, deft playmaker, Gosforth combines physical power and Nepharim graft with a keen intelligence, an eye for goal and, most importantly of all, a flawless sense of timing. Can he fit within the team? That's the test.

15 - AM - Ursula Rowan (Image Cassandra City) - Age 26 - 13 caps, 4 goals
Powerful and direct, Rowan's a versatile enough player to fit deeper but relishes the chance to charge forward and cause trouble. Not a slow-paced playmaker, but works best with the tempo pumped up.

16 - LM - Regatta Aspenwood (Image Handon United) - Age 25 - Uncapped
Tall, elegant and athletic, Aspenwood's never actually played in the Premiership, leaving for Schottia after powering Southfell to promotion. Panoramic vision, a vicious shot, a feather-like first touch and a gift for improvisation.

21 - CM - Gudrun Crowley (Image Pelethas United) - Age 26 - 5 caps
A versatile and authoritative midfielder, measured on the ball and strong in the arm. Crowley's a commanding presence in the centre of the pitch.

23 - CM - Helmut Chilmark (Image Holdenberg) - Age 27 - 39 caps
A muscular brawler, Chilmark is a pure destroyer whose hulking physique allows him to win the aerial balls every time. Racks up cards and runs himself into the ground for the team.

Forwards
9 - ST - Estrella Hawke (Image Starling) - Age 23 - 35 caps, 19 goals
Statuesque and athletic, Hawke's very strong, very quick and ruthless with the ball at her feet. Her first touch can be her downfall, and she's at her most comfortable charging forward at full pelt.

10 - ST - Nevaeh Cathar (Image Avenida Leal) - Age 23 - 7 caps, 2 goals
Daughter of Rook Cathar, and very much in his image - quick, impulsive, physical, ruthless in front of goal and, after striking out on her own in Farfadillis, increasingly strong as well.

17 - ST - Dragan Stavanger (Image Tannenberg FC) - Age 26 - 47 caps, 19 goals
A huge target man, Stavanger's constantly defending from the front, holding the ball up, offering an aerial threat and just generally in his element doing a thankless job. Then he went to Valladares - and then the floodgate of goals opened.

Eastfield Lodge Roster for Eagle's Cup VII

Demonym: Eastfielder

Eastfield Lodge is a pretty glorious nation, somewhat situated in Northern Rushmore - in reality, there's a very small island (acting as a transport hub) which hosts a portal linking the NSverse to a small bubble universe, wherein the rest of the Imperial Commonwealth is located (barring a couple of nations, but they’re linked up in other ways). The IC part describes the fact that there are several empires contained within one superstructure – divisions which are somewhat reflected in the convoluted league structure.

Those of you who know this nation well however will wonder what has happened to the Whoniverse (the universe of Doctor Who, the TV programme). Don’t worry, I will (hopefully) RP what went on. To those who don’t know, this nation used be in the NSverse, but due to the acts of a lone madman from The Holy Empire (mad, or pitiful, the legends are a bit shaky), Eastfield Lodge almost vanished from existence, leaving behind a small island (now in Rushmore), attached to a portal connecting here to the Whoniverse. Things happened, the portal became unstable, and we had to form a bubble universe, and as a result, the resulting temporal shockwave both wiped out all electronic records, and did some weird stuff to people’s ages (hence why some names in the team may seem recognisable).

Anyways, because of the initial portal, whilst humans are the overwhelming majority of the populace here, don't be surprised to find several other races and much advanced technology here. Some more historical information can be found here, in lieu of a factbook (NB: a lot of the information there is inaccurate though, TG me for clarification).

Back to the nation itself, Eastfield Lodge is probably the best place to live in the entirety of Rushmore, according to the WA at any rate. Amongst the accolades heaped upon are: Most Compassionate Citizens, Most Beautiful Environments, Happiest Citizens, Most Dedicated Public Healthcare, Healthiest Citizens, Least Corrupt Government, Longest Average Lifespan, Lowest Crime Rates, Nicest Citizens, Largest Public Transportation Department, Safest, Smartest Citizens, Most Popular Tourist Destinations, Best Weather and Largest Welfare Programs. Also of note is the fact that, in a region containing Saintland, Eastfield Lodge is the Most Devout nation, with Islam being the national religion, and that we have the Highest Police Ratios, so do not be alarmed by the sheer number of police officers.

Lodger City Memorial Stadium
Location: New Lodger City
Capacity: 150,000
Description: The home of Eastfielder football, the stadium was built on the ruins of the old capital of Eastfield Lodge, Lodger City, which was flattened in a double disaster (severe floods from dams bursting and an explosion from an unknown source, killing much of the population of the city and rendering the city useless. Administrative functions were transferred over to Lodgertia, the city began to be rebuilt, and it was decided that this stadium would be one of the monuments erected in place. The inside walls contains inscriptions of the names of all the dead – just under 9 million. The stadium used to play host to the two classic giants of EL football – RGS Athletic and VLC FC - until both had their new stadiums finished; it is now only used for internationals and cup matches.

Parliament Stadium
Location: Lodgertia
Capacity: 80,000
Description: Formerly the second largest stadium in Eastfield Lodge (until King Iqbal II and Vorgan Park were completed), behind the Memorial Stadium in New Lodger City, it was built in the centre of Lodgertia, the capital of Eastfield Lodge, and the Imperial Commonwealth. It was named due to the fact that the Parliament is based just a few hundred metres down the road; in fact, the original stadium was actually joined to the Parliament building, as an area where MPs could watch or even engage in sport with the public, as well as being a designated protest site. However, with Lodgertia becoming more built up, it was decided that the stadium needed to be built up as well. It is home to Lodgertia United and Lodgertia City alongside being temporary hosts of RGS Athletic and VLC FC (when Lodger City was being rebuilt), and in the past has hosted several international matches, including the final of SBCC 27 and a group in both stages of Market Cup 4.

Manager: Shabeen Ahmad III
Age: 65. He went down in Eastfield Lodge history as having scored an absurd 201 goals in 215 appearances for the EL national team (records are still being compiled, but he looks likely to be the human player with the highest tally). Still an inspiration to everyone and even at this age his skill is noticeable, even if his agility has waned. He had been the main coach/assistant manager for several World Cups, until Lowell Brown's sacking following a disappointing WC78 campaign, where he was promoted to the managerial role.

Assistant Manager: Robert Andrews
Age: 43. The former national team striker, who had over a century of international appearances to his name during his career, was specifically recruited by the new manager, his old friend and ex-teammate. This will be his first major job in football since his playing retirement, but his ability to calmly analyse situations even under immense pressure has earned him some plaudits from those in the know, and as such could prove to be a vital asset to the national team going forward.

Formation: 4-1-2-3
Image

The formation is a weird variant on the classic basic 4-3-3. Here, there is the one holding midfielder, and the other two are pushed up to play just off the ST as attacking midfielders, whilst the WFs are also slightly tucked in from a usual position. This allows them more of an equal choice of either cutting in or going out wide for the cross, which may be met by the other winger or one of the midfielders. The front five can drift to other positions at any time, just to keep defences on their toes. Defensively, the AMs will drop back and slightly out wide or into the middle as required, and are decently proficient at dispossessing the ball and using it well. The DM is mainly there to guard the defence, and is adept at picking out a pass (short or long), and helping to dictate plays. The CBs are as standard, but the FBs are given the freedom to roam forwards as far as they can get away with, and more often than will get involved in attacking plays, with some crosses from both deep and closer in.
In terms of goal scoring, the ST will get the bulk of the goals, with good contributions from both the AMs and the WFs as well. The WFs will get most of the assists, followed closely by the AMs, then the ST and DM.

Select my scorers: Y
Give out yellow cards to my players: Y (maximum five, TG me with a reason for more)
Give out red cards to my players: Y (only one more than the number given to your team, maximum of three - i.e. I get two red cards, you must have at least one)
RP injuries to my players: Y (Maximum 3, no career-ending injuries without my explicit permission – I reserve right to how long players are out; you can RP how severe it looks)
Godmod injuries: Y (within some reason)
Godmod scoring events: Y (Have fun.)
Godmod other events: Y (TG me if you're planning on killing anybody though, or anything really extreme.)

If I do RP, I will include the line-up for the next match in my RP post, along with any suspensions/injuries. If there is no line-up, look through my posts and check for current suspensions/injuries, but otherwise it’s fine. Also, if you're RP'ing any part of my match, please use the full name Eastfield Lodge at least once, it helps me find the RP.

NB: As the people of EL are extremely compassionate, and very civilised (despite what you may say about the religion), it would be uncharacteristic for the coaches/players to lose their temper, dive deliberately (jumping out of the way of bad tackles and falling awkwardly doesn't count), to be sent to the stands (if the ref is clearly very biased however...), spit, argue with the ref or fight. Players will also tend to inform the referee about mistakes/clarifications in judgement regarding throw-ins, fouls given but with no contact and goal kicks/corner kicks (plus other bouts of honesty - up to you).

RP permissions: Your RP permissions are mine, short of death and career-ending injuries. If I can send off your players, you can send off mine. If your players can’t be booked, neither can mine. If I can rain a hail of meteors down on the city, so can you. Just make it funny/entertaining, if you don’t mind. ;)

Note: Soltsteedish surnames follow RL Netherlands Dutch conventions on surname prefixes: they aren’t capitalised when used in combination with first names or initials, but are capitalised in all other situations. For example, “Carle de Marcht” is correct, while “Carle De Marcht” is not; however, when the given name is not used, “De Marcht” is proper, while “de Marcht” is not.

Mössifest vörlös/Biggest loss: Soltsteed 0–2 Loynn (Bellator, DRK; BoF speldag/matchday 1)

The default Soltsteedish strategy can be summed up in one phrase: “the best offence is a good defence”. The Stallions play a highly opportunistic attack, lying in wait for an opportunity rather than charging head-on. Possession is mostly confined to the midfield, keeping the ball comfortably away from Emmet Ferdinand’s goal and close enough to Soltsteed’s lone striker Carle de Marcht for him to attack when necessary. Soltsteed prefer to play a passing game in possession, while attempting to pry the ball away from the opposition when not, either by intercepting a pass or tackling players. The Stallions will attempt to frustrate and infuriate the opposition through tactics of time wasting, bus parking and—in the most desperate of circumstances—dirty play if necessary to achieve the desired result and are unashamed of drawing games and advancing via penalty shoot-outs.

Osarius Roster for Eagle's Cup VII

Manager: Brent Steele
Asst Manager: Adam McBride
While the Firebirds were less-than-impressive at the AOCAF Cup, they performed pretty much to the level expected by the OFA, leading to the retention of Steele and McBride as the management team. With the two signed on through to the end of World Cup qualifying, there is a feeling of stability in the Osarius camp, ahead of the start of the new domestic season. Steele's understated demeanour so far as a manager is in stark contrast to his playing days, where he was a vocal leader for one of the best sides in the country -- as well as the national team on occasion. The word from the dressing room, though, is that he is a fantastic man manager, accurately identifying the needs of each individual player, and emphasising strengths astutely to breed confidence.

In contrast, his assistant's personality quirks are clearly as unsettling to the media as they were during his playing days. The players are fond of "the big man", though, and it has been said that his sometimes odd behaviour is a calming influence, particularly for the younger members of the squad. "He'll do something weird before the match and it never seems deliberate so he'll have us all in stitches," reveals George Simpson. "We all get settled again, but then you realise any nerves you had before have disappeared. So we always go out calm. It's great."

Team Summary

After reaching the final of the last edition, Osarius perhaps enter the seventh Eagle's Cup with loftier expectations than one might otherwise have for a team of their current form and stature. To temper this -- and quietly gather more intel on his players in a low-pressure environment -- Steele has opted to retain the core of his AOCAF squad, supplemented with a few experienced names from what many would consider to be his "true" or "full" senior squad. With World Cup qualification looming, and Osarius' chances of qualifying looking shaky at present, the former Burningham City captain is likely taking every opportunity to acquire the knowledge he feels might give him the best chance of "righting the ship" so to speak.

Head of Player Development, Serenity Lewis -- who led the Firebirds to the final of Eagle's Cup VI -- has been advising the new Osarius manager over the past few weeks, identifying young talents she feels might benefit from a run in the senior side over the coming months. Steele has not opted to name any in his Eagle's Cup squad, however, suggesting his aims for the tournament might not be as experimental as he might like to suggest when asked.

It is known that Steele identified several areas for improvement after the AOCAF Cup, though he has not been transparent in stating his intentions with regard to addressing them. The general consensus is that he will attempt to do so via this tournament, fine tuning his strategic gambits ahead of what promises to be a gruelling World Cup qualifying campaign.

Starting XI: Shelly-Ann; Dawson, Ward, Cole, Simpson; Grana/McIntosh, Estevez (c), McIntosh/Allen; Montanari, Udowu, Bartley

RP permissions are pretty much anything goes. Just don't kill my players/staff or seriously injure anyone without checking, please.

Here are some notes if you want, though...

Notes:
If you wanna RP my squad selection and whatnot because I didn't, I'd probably use squad numbers 25 and above sparingly, for the sake of narrative.
Steele likes to change systems mid-match. The players aren't always entirely comfortable with this; run with it.
He won't shuffle defenders around mid-match, though. This is an inviolable rule for him.
Udowu misses a lot of relatively easy chances, but scores the ones you'd expect most forwards to miss. Expect him to be top scorer.
Allen is a criminally underappreciated midfield genius, but injury prone. Feel free to injure him (up to maybe a month or so)
Estevez is the complete midfielder, basically Arturo Vidal
Try to include McIntosh a lot. She's supposed to be the next big thing, sort of
Tucker's main upside is that he's big, strong and fast. Almost zero team awareness though, and not a great finisher.
Garrido is clever with her movement, and probably scores more than you'd expect a player of her age and reputation to.
Her call-up is thanks to her impressive start to life with Extreme Hills, but it is also hoped that she will be a positive influence on Udowu and Tucker
Note that Bartley is legitimately ambidextrous. He tends to favour his left, though.
The recall of Santana has been roundly criticised, but Steele likes him for his physicality. Expect him to be used sparingly, to deal with specific forwards.
Serra's redemption in the eyes of the Osarian fanbase is almost complete; Steele doesn't quite trust him tactically though. Yet.
Luther Bailey's return from injury is a big deal; he's the experienced head in this squad and under different circumstances, would be captain.
The inclusion of Ryan Watson is probably mostly to worry opposition teams, and he won't actually feature much.
Rumours that Steele wanted to call up Aaliyah Johnson have been categorically denied because "if we bring her, no other strikers get to play"

Most Common subs:
Barone/Tucker (when behind; change to 4-1-2-3 or 4-4-2 respectively)
Wood (to see out a game if leading)
Alejandro/Barnes (when losing the midfield battle; sub in for Dawson, change to 3-4-3)
Warwick (for any forward; no particular reason, he's just really versatile)
Monarch: Alexander III | First Minister: Mathieu Lupin | Population: ~125 million | Capital: Burningham, Mount Crown
Civilisation Index: 13.43 • Tier 7, Level 2, Type 5
Current Project(s): a discord scorination bot, and a football manager knock-off

After a great season of World Cup Football, resulting with a second Cup of Harmony title, the Qasden Vans made their way up north to the Vilitan Cove for their fourth appearance at the AOCAF competition, held primarily in Vilita, Turori, and Tropicorp. Over the first period of the tournament, the Blue-Reds managed to conjure up 6 points within their first 2 games, securing themselves a spot in the next round in one of the fastest recorded times for the association. While succumbing to Valanora in match day 3, the club still made way into the Round of 16. There, the team narrowly fell to the hands of Chromatika in extra time, failing to break into the quarterfinals, a depressing moment for Merritt's career.

While few still mourned over the fall at AOCAF LIVe, life in the lull for the Qad NT was soon hushed by a mysterious envelope crested with an eagle. Indeed, the 'pality's success has caught the attention of the most elite of international footballing clubs, the EC. Invited to partake in the seventh Eagle's Cup, Qasden now must battle against 15 of the most dominant national associations of the past few cycles for a chance to earn the status as an Eagle's Club Member. Will TQ be able to take on this challenge? All that and the kitchen sink will be discovered right here, right now, at the E's C!

BOJIKSTAN
Ranking: Unranked
Formation: 4-4-2 diamond
Style modifier: +1.5
Home ground: Camp Strasburg. Capacity 68,000.
Kitmakers: Smoke Sports
Nickname: Azules

Introduction to the country
Bojikstan is a Nordic and Slavic country that also has various immigrants and speaks Spanish due to a former colonial presence. The country has recently been disconnected with the rest of the world because of civil strife and an outright civil war that has only recently started to ease up, and now the focus is on moving forward, rebuilding, and bringing the entire country into the first world. There is a divide between the western capital of Strasburg, which is very secular, and the eastern largest city, Odena, which is more Christian. The civil war was fought between a corrupt and religious government and secular socialist rebels from the western part of the country, but in the end, a more centrist and democratic government was installed after the western victory. Now, the country is strengthening international ties and working on moving forward. It is currently governed by the Liberal Democratic Party and by Prime Minister Helio Sandoval.

Team history
The team was founded by the Bojikstan Football Federation when the latest government budget finally provided money to compete in international sports. Marco Christensen was picked as the first ever manager because of his ability to think outside of the box and punch above his weight tactically, and he assembled a squad of players for the third Independents Cup that were mostly reluctant. Some of the players needed to be paid to represent the country, partly because of east vs west tensions causing some players to not want to play with each other on the same national team. The nation wasn't expected to compete, but it did manage to finish fourth place after running through a somewhat easy path to the semis and then going out on back to back losses. Still, the showing increased confidence in the new team and in manager Marco Christensen.

MANAGERS

Image Man. Marco Christensen, 40 | FC Strasburg: One of the bright younger minds in football management, recruited to the national team because of his ability to think outside the box and do things somewhat unconventionally. Recruited by the national team with the promise of having more security than at Strasburg, Marco has his own demons from the war that he's evading...

Image Asst. Bruno Cain, 61 | Vorsji Devils: The manager of the Vorsji Devils is assisting Christensen for the same reason that the latter was hired, because the BFF wanted coaches that knew how to get their players to play up. Also because they needed someone that specialized in hustle and defending, traits that the team will need to have any kind of success.

SQUAD LIST

Starting XI

Image GK. Lucas Alberg, 23 | 1899 Odena: Athletic and powerful, and not the guy that you expect to see in goal. A flashy and sometimes dominant keeper that benefits from strong legs and long arms, but he has to learn to keep his head on straight and stay grounded while playing in the largest city in the country.

Image LB. Janis Shenchenko, 28 | Athletic Vorsji: AC Vorsji captain that still plays more like a fullback of old, laying down bone shattering tackles when the need calls for it and not feeling like he has to rush forward all the time. National team vice captain.

Image CB. Chico Suarez, 25 | FC Strasburg: The heart and soul of the back line for both the national team and FC Strasburg. Daring, aggressive, on and off of the pitch. Due for a huge extension and a giant payday if he can make it on the national team without starting major trouble with his teammates. Mistake prone.

Image CB. Martin Brander, 31 | Marque: Former Selta captain Marin Brander brings experience to the defense, and he joined Marque after helping Selta avoid relegation. The end goal, of course, is one last chance to compete during his career...

Image RB. Javier Velazquez, 27 | Selmby IK: The more attacking counterpart to the other fulback, Javier is no stranger to charging up and down the flanks and getting the ball into the box, or at the feet of some of the team's better attackers. On the other end, he's not afraid to play physically and pick up cards when he needs to.

Image DM. Mara Mandaric, 23 | Sporting Ceneisis Women: Made her name playing as a dominating defensive midfielder/half-back for SC Morievo at a young age, before showing out with the national team and gaining infamy for running hard and tackling like a defender. However, her move to Sporting Ceneisis revealed a knee injury that was sustained in the Bojikstani Civil War, that may end her career within a few years.

Image CM. Eric Dern, 26 | Strasburg Saints: A big fish in a small pond, the one on the other side of Strasburg. Precise, focused, and a playmaker first. On the national team, his role is to start the attacks and get the ball to those who need it when it's in the attacking third. Not much of a socialite off of the pitch, unlike some others.

Image CM. Rain Delacruz, 20 | AFC Corvistone: Artem Delacruz's twin sister has become a star of her own, making plays in the midfield with long passes and long shots, but she's still finding herself off of the pitch and has struggled recently with keeping her head straight. She's a little unstable, as evidenced by her side hobby of amateur fighting under a pseudonym.

Image CAM. Alexy Hesse, 29 | FC Strasburg: The best known player on the national team, or at least the best known player that was willing to accept a call-up to the national team, is Alexy Hesse. The attacking mid has flash, vision, speed, and passing ability, and if the team starts winning, there's a good chance that it will be because he carried them.

Image FW. Artem Delacruz, 20 | Gallian Telecom: Artem Delacruz was predicted for a long time to be a star, and lived up to the reputation by becoming the undisputed top scorer of the team. His scoring is based on playing off of a larger striker, and his skill with the ball is excellent for someone at the position. A hybrid between a nine and ten. His scoring earned a big money move to Gallian Telecom.

Image FW. Niko Komarov, 24 | Metropolis Alligators: Niko Komarov is sometimes crazy, sometimes arrogant, but always ready to give one hundred percent effort. The large striker combines power with technique and isn't afraid to bruise his way through the defense, although he needs to learn to keep his temper in check.

Reserve players

Image GK. Sam Horn, 25 | Strasburg Saints

Image GK. Lars Frisker, 28 | SC Morievo

Image RB. Luca Vargas, 27 | Vorsji Devils

After bowing out in the Round of 16 in AOCAF LIVe, Jon Merritt and the Qasden Vans look to further enrich their overall global status prior to WC79 as they partake in the 7th Eagle's Cup, a highly prestigious invitational tournament primarily consisting of the most recent champions of the WCC and Big 4 regional tournaments, as well as other distinguished members of the FA society. Due in part by their astonishing performances at Cup of Harmonies 69 & 70, the Blue-Reds were able to secure themselves a position in such a tournament.

In a group of brutes, the Qads will have to provide quite the fight if they want to get out alive, facing off against giants and rising stars alike in their homes and ours before having the chance to travel to Eagle's Club-sanctioned vistas. Among the members of Group C, the curious kittens will meet head on with an electric champion, a dawning Baptism of Fire victor, and the ever-so intimidating giant that consistently squander the Vans' journeys to the coveted title. To start off this amazingly perilous quest, Qasden will travel to the sub-region of Terranea to face not only a new multiversal soccer power, but the latest World Cup champions.

The Electrumites of, er, Electrum, have always performed above and beyond their perceived standards during the latest of cycles. Having hosted World Cup 76, the first cycle the Qads competed in, the team made headlines across the world after the club successfully defeated arch-rivals ,Eura, in the World Cup 78 Finals in Ramusok last cycle. Led by elite manager, Jeffery Clark, Electrum now looks to claim the Eagle's Cup as apart of their new reputation.

The Qasdonians, whom have lately dominated the tournament of scysf, have done all but the one thing their adversaries have done over and over: qualify. Of the past 3 cycles, TQ have made memories worth a museum, yet they could never seem to maintain a top 2 position. While we could go on for infinity, screaming about the faults of our failures, the blue and red later found their solace in the form of a silver star atop the crest on both major occasions. Zachary Sols, manager of the national team and new co-director of QAFA's press branch, spoke out two days ago in T.V. City over his confidence in the underdog team.

"The Eagle's Cup is without a doubt going to be one of the most challenging feats for our developing team. There will be tough decisions in an endless state of heat, intense hardship and outbursts, certainly the kind of challenge needed for this club...The Electrumite Association is an amazing establishment within its walls of Rushmore, but such a new champion will still have lengthy weaknesses, waiting to be exploited. That will be our mission in Centralis and in T.V. City: to exploit the adversary before they can do the same to us. As a once defensive team, I do believe that should be the first thing we intend to break...I may not know what Merritt and Clark have in stock for each other, but I do know that this match will layout both sides' fates early.".

Competing in the glorious city of Centralis, could Qasden defy logic and put the champions of the world in gridlock early? Or will they only get themselves tangled up? Stay tuned, stay updated, and stay alert for future match updates as we witness the inaugural journey through Eagle's Cup 7!

The Bedistan Football Association’s team for the Eagles Cup is assembled using players at the Association’s seven Élite Member Clubs (those which currently play in the Élite League: Afton FC, Carter FC, Griffin Zebras, Hundon FC, Jamaica Giants, San Diego Iguanas, and Yuba United), which are obligated under Association rules to make their players available for a representative team, and three Affiliated Clubs (Forest Hill FC, New Haverford Albion, and South Coast United) which, though outside the Bedistan region delimited by the Paripana Sporting Council, have significant historical ties to Bedistani football and have agreed to make their players available.

Coach: Nikolá Ángela (Yuba United)
Dimitriou favors a 4–3–3 formation. The expected starting XI are in bold and numbered 1–11.

Kits
Bedistan’s kits for the Eagle’s Cup are produced by Hampton Textiles, an ancient company which once supplied the kits for the original Bedistan national team, and which has always refrained from smearing its logo all over its work. The home kit is green and blue, the colors which Bedistan had just recently adopted, both as a nation and as a football team, when it first played in and won the Eagle’s Cup. The away kit is in the original colors of Bedistan, gray and blue. The kits incorporate the traditional symbol of Bedistan, a gear, which is embroidered using a special technique that has been passed down for generations at Hampton Textiles to produce an intensely bright color known as ‘industrial green’. This color is also used for the players’ names and numbers on the home shirts, as well as on the blue away shorts. In case of a kit clash, gray shorts are also available. As Nephara does not, in the opinion of the Bedistan Football Association, have a sufficiently contrasting shirt to Bedistan’s green and blue, Bedistan will wear its away kit for the matchday 6 fixture—which is probably all the better for the fans at Alesanka Park, who are quite fond of the colors silver and blue.

Image

Schedule
Three Élite Member Clubs’ stadiums have been selected to host Bedistan’s home matches:

Bedistan vs Zwangzug: Carter FC Stadium, Carter (64 000)
Carter FC Stadium is one of the oldest sites in Bedistan to have been continuously occupied by a stadium, though the current structure bears almost no resemblance to the original. Following the city planning trends in the early years of Bedistani independence, the stadium is quite far from the Carter city center. Though less convenient for the city’s own residents, the result has been that many fans from the neighboring cities of Columbia, Dennis, and Midway travel to support CFC, as the purple-clad club has been far more successful in recent decades than any of their local teams.

Bedistan vs Turori: New Kingstonian, Jamaica (80 000)
The New Kingstonian, built on the site of the original Kingston Stadium, is home to Jamaica Giants, five-time champions of Bedistan. They failed to make much of an impression on the modern era until 2236–37, when they won their first Élite League title and then, in Paripanan football’s centennary season, lifted the Champions’ Cup. The stadium consists mostly of large, shallow, open-air stands, in contrast to the compact, enclosed designs which are commonplace in Paripana. Despite concerns that recent success would dilute their fanbase, Giants supporters remain vocal enough to make up for their ground’s acoustic shortcomings, and will surely turn out in song for Bedistan as well.

Bedistan vs Nephara: Alesanka Park, Yuba (149 000)
Alesanka Park is, quite simply, a monument to the most successful football club in the history of the game. Situated in the center of Yuba both literally and figuratively, the stadium’s most distinctive element is its extensive museum, which houses the world’s largest collection of UICA trophies. The ground, completed in 2190, was the first to host all three of UICA’s tournament finals, including that of Champions’ Cup 40, in which Yuba United failed to defend its title and instead saw Valladar rivals Fontvielle Impact lift the trophy. The club’s most vocal support inhabits the Morlock End, named for the legendary Bedistan and Yuba United striker.

Eagle's Cup VII - Matchday 1 Scores

Postby Eagles Club » Sat Oct 07, 2017 1:50 am

... After patiently waiting for construction to finish in Zwangzug, fans would finally get their taste of true Eagle's Club footsport in the Ivory and Ebony Tower Zone as Eagle's Cup VII officially got underway. Action on the pitch in Forbridge would have to wait until Matchday 4, however, for the return leg of Zwangzug-Nephara, a series pitting the previous two Eagle's Cup Champions against each other that would open in Nephara.

In Turori, the Main Pitch at the Eagle's Club would get the tournament kicked off where the host Turori National Team would square off against the team fielded by the Bedistan Football Association as clubs from the Bedistan region put forth their best players to don the Industrial Green trimmed uniforms and defend Bedistani heritage on the International stage...

OOC: In case anyone is wondering, this does also tie up the story from the DBC, and brings that full circle. You'll maybe get the reference if you read those posts. It's a new thread though, so this is designed as a stand-alone story.

Gary Corsie

As Gary tottered down the Red Road, he wasn't sure where he was headed, only that it was down hill. All roads in the Port Sebastian area of North Handon inevitably led to the sea (especially if one were intent on heading down hill) and before long the dark grey water came into sight through the gaps in the houses. He had perhaps had more wine than he intended - as much was evident in his decision to leave a family dinner and wonder the streets until daybreak - and now the alcohol was having a notable effect on his mobility.

He could have checked into a hotel of course, but he had a point to prove, if not to his sister Marie then to himself at least. We was the real deal. He wasn't some sort of plastic hippy, and he most certainly practiced what he preached. If it meant so much to his sister, then he would donate his millions to charity as soon as he returned to Nephara - Well... except for a modest six figure sum, just in case things didn't work out, you know?

The houses on the Red Road were quiet, but the stream of traffic passing up and down the middle was as busy as ever; the constant flow of headlights illuminating his path. Gary had been born and raised right in the heart of working class North Handon, just one hundred metres from the spot where Peter Connell made his famous speech, calling the Workers' Unions to unite. He grew up in the shadows of Dyerton Stadium, he was the son of the local Fishmonger, yet somehow he had never fitted in here for one second. From the moment he started school he realised that there was something about him that people just took an instant disliking to. A girl - Sally McGilvary, he still remembered her name - had told him it was his face; it was just particularly slappable. She must have been right, because he did get slapped a lot. The bad part being the fact that he was quite physically unimpressive as a child, worse still, he quickly found he was to short to run and too fat to hide from the bullying.

'HAVE A FUCKING SHAVE YE DAFT CUNT...' Came a yell from one of the cars, slowing down as it passed him. Some things never changed. Whether is face was bare, or covered in several centimetres of hair growth, people still held it in contempt.

Maybe it wasn't the face, maybe it was just him; the man behind the face. Perhaps he'd cultivated a personality so instantly unlikable that people could sense it just from looking at him... It was certainly true to say that he was annoying - he annoyed himself constantly.

All the same, why did people feel the need to point it out? Why did that previous gentleman, in the dead of night, decide it was a good idea to shout from a moving vehicle? Have a shave? Was his life improved in the knowledge that he'd told a man to have a shave? Or Sally McGilvary, did she go home that night content with herself that she had told Gary he had a bad face?

Football had been both a blessing and a curse in his life. It had been Gary's escape raft, but it was a dinghy with only one paddle. While it had allowed him to escape North Handon, and eventually find his valley, it also brought a notoriety that meant he could never ever fully disappear. Were it not night-time, he would have likely been trailed by a group of kids kicking footballs off his heels and trying to get him to autograph pieces of detritus picked up from the street. Some times he must have resembled the Pied Piper of Hamelin.

'What a load of fuckin shite..!'

There were raised voiced as Gary neared the pub at the end of the street. Of course! There was football on tight, Schottia were playing. Desdemona had mentioned if the week before, but as usual, he hadn't been paying attention. It was some tournament, she had been excited about it, and her jaw had hit the floor when Gary said he hadn't heard of it.

'Eagle's Cup my arsehole.'

That was it! The Eagle's Cup. Gary was grateful for the drunk's input, as he dived behind a garden wall so as not to be seen. He would wait and let them pass; he had a bottle of wine, and all the time in the world. There was nothing worse than getting recognised by inebriated fans. Luckily the wine had a screw cap, he thought, as he took a hefty glug; the bubbles travelling loudly up the neck.

'The blood media just go and hype the fuckin thing up, you end up thinking ye'll do well, and then fucking bang..!'

Gary couldn't help but agree with the man. Not just in terms of football, but life too. He could have quoted him several examples from his own life if he weren't cowering behind a wall. That was why Gary didn't bother following football, you only set yourself up for a disappointment. If you invested anything emotionally in a team, then you left yourself vulnerable. It was bad enough that he had to play the game, let alone take an interest. He doubted retail worker read up on the profits other companies made.

'Aye, they're all a bunch of fannies...'

Drunk-number-two was also right on the money it seemed. Gary had always noticed there was an inflated Fanny to Non-Fanny ratio in the sport, as opposed to life in general - himself included in the first bracket.

It was getting cold. Gary looked up at the sky to try and gauge the time. What time did football matches finish? It could be any time really given Multiverse time zones. He pulled his tweed jacket tight across his chest and took another glug of wine. He was now absolutely hammered but it was doing nothing to keep out the chill. The pub-goers were long gone and he was left with only the hum of cars passing by his little hiding spot.

'YOU'VE GOT IT ALL WRONG!!!' Gary opened his lungs and yelled into the air. All these people, living in their neat little houses, there tidy gardens, their nine till five jobs. Worshiping false idols, footballers like him.

'YOU'VE GOT IT ALL WROOOOONG!!!'

Somewhere in the background a dog started to bark; maybe he or she were in agreement.

Gary looked over to the house in front of him. It at least looked warm, which was maybe the only thing it had going for it. He got up and crawled over to the building, and began inspecting for a small nook or cranny he could bed down in; maybe a greenhouse, or even an outside boiler might have been a little warmer than sleeping in the street. He was just about to give up, and head on a little further when he noticed the wheelie bin. It wasn't spotless, but it was clean. The owner seemed to place all her rubbish in tightly bound sacks, so in the interior itself was actually passable. Gary lifted the rubbish bag out, and placed it behind some bushes - he would replace it in the morning - then, laying the bin on its side, he took one last mouthful of red wine, before cuddling up inside.

Despite the wide diversity of styles potentially on display in the range of newspapers in the country, there aren't a lot of predictions being made or heavy-hitting analyses of the other groups so far. Many of the participating teams are not from countries Zwangzug has had long histories with, which probably doesn't help, and few newspaper writers want to stick out their neck and risk being wrong with silly predictions. The Regency made a halfhearted attempt at catching up with the political goings-on in Chromatika since last our paths crossed, and the Guariday Guardian holds Osarius' mascots in high esteem, so probably made note of their roster changeover since the last final. The 102d · (that's "Times" to you) is excited about the prospect of playing against the dubiously-extant polity of Bedistan, and previews of the match have nothing to do with the talent of the players and much to do with trying to explain how exactly players were eligible for the opposition. The Arlington Moon-Tribune is getting excited for the opening of the new stadium, and taking this opportunity to explain the Forbridge legends. The Bassabook Baritone would normally take this opportunity to take cheap shots at Bonesea and/or make musical puns, but they actually have a higher and/or less intonationally relevant calling this time, and that is getting hyped up for the first leg against Nephara, who are kind of sort of "their" rivals since the unexpected underdogs of Starling defeated Bassabook in Champions' Cup 64.

Unfortunately, the Cormorants would hold serve this time around, with the speedster Andrea Bereveskos getting them on the board early. Zwangzug stayed in the game for a while, with Franklin Motobuchi's protege Misako Tsuki from Eintracht Trink scoring her first international goal. But a free kick led to the winning goal from Dragan Stavanger, and Vedran Tarashaj tacked on a third goal. It appears as if none of them were part of the Passerine team that succeeded so many years ago is less clear (and the Bassabook players that participated in the last Eagles Cup have also moved on), but oh well, trust the Baritone to take offense anyway. Fortunately for them Nephara is a strange enough country that they'll go on to ask the really hard-hitting questions, like "who names their legendary forwards 'rook'? Some people have all the luck."

Mara Mandaric’s Blog

We somehow came back for a 4-4 draw with Chromatika, and the experts picked them to roll us. We’re a Baptism of Fire team, and Chromatika is coming off of a run in the World Cup, after all. The odds were about 1.60, 2.00, in favor of Chromatika. And 2.00 was a line that was generous to us. I saw a lot that had us as bigger underdogs, and I know that at least a few of our players put bets on us getting a draw or a win. We didn’t get the win, but a few of us did make like bandits after that draw.

Anyway, it was an interesting experience. Not just from the perspective of drawing with a team meant to beat us, but from the perspective of making my first start as a leader in the midfield. What I mean is that the coaches finally trusted me with some strategic duties in addition to my normal role. Marco’s always had faith in me, but now, he decided to make me the sole player calling the shots on the pitch. Before, that was Alexey Hesse, but that didn’t work very well because Hesse plays so far up the pitch and can’t talk to the midfield all the time and definitely can’t talk to the defense.

Eric Dern played a few games calling the shots, but he’s too quiet. Eventually, the staff decided that I would hold that role, even as Martin Brander kept the captain’s armband with Alexey Hesse as his vice captain. It’s less glamorous than you may think, but I make sure that things get done. A lot of what you see is just shouting at players to get into position. When someone like Rain Delacruz or Eric Dern moves too far up the pitch, or when the fullbacks aren’t back enough, I’m the one that has to scream at them to move before we get exposed because of their positioning.

Other times, you see me making hand signals for certain players to move to certain spots. You guys know about Rain’s right footed power, but a lot of times, someone like me is the one to signal for her to go forward and chase down the ball after a deflection. When the center backs press up, it’s because I heard from the sidelines and told them to come forward. Other times, I’m using my judgement and telling us to be more defensive. The part you miss on TV is the verbal part of the job. Sometimes I have to tell the mids who to look for up top, when they don’t see an opening.

Rain will have the ball and miss someone like, say, Janis Shenchenko on an overlapping run, and I’ll point him out and tell her what kind of pass is needed. I always warn the defenders about the numbers coming towards them. If Chromatika had all three attackers coming forward and someone like Cierra Anderson makes a run down the flank to even out the numbers, I’d give the defense a warning and tell them to watch that side.

I hate to sound cocky, but I think it’s the reason we drew. Our communication has been poor traditionally, at least in our short history, and I’ve always believed that I’m the most aware player on the team. That’s the only way that I can play the defensive midfielder position, at a high level at least. At halftime, it was 2-3 in favor of Chromatika, with Artem Delacruz getting both of the first half goals without needing assists. Still, our defense needed a lot of work, and I think my communication kept us from conceding another three in the second half.

From a tactical perspective, the big advantage we had over them was our attacking midfield. Rain Delacruz and Alexey Hesse played well off of each other and set up the attack numerous times in the second half, even though Artem made his own goals early on. It took some time to shake off the rust from not playing together as a national team for awhile since the Independents Cup. Rain in particular had a big impact, and she ran hard and used her shoulders to keep the ball away from the arguably more talented Chromatik midfielders. Her shielding of the ball caused her to be fouled four times during the match, drawing one free kick in the opponent’s area.

Sixty minutes in, we slipped up and let them go up 4-2 after Sandra Sybill hit the post on a free kick and Chico Suarez didn’t close down on the rebound in time. Keira Andisori reached the ball before Chico did, and Martin Brander went in for the saving tackle far too soon and allowed Andisori to simply back up and step around him before taking the shot. Though, you can blame the mistake on Lucas, because he’s the one that asked for Martin to slide. We pulled one back in the sixty seventh minute when Niko Komarov fought off of Luuk Aart’s mark inside the penalty area for a headed goal off of Eric Dern’s corner kick.

The thing about Niko is, he knows how to leverage his weight well. You probably missed it on the replay, but he pushed himself off of Aart’s shoulders and then headed the ball off of the ground, with the bounce carrying it into goal. He’s smarter than he looks. People think he’s just a bruiser, but if you don’t understand angles as well as he does, you’re going to get carved up because his size and relatively good leaping for that size already gives him an advantage over most defenders. It doesn’t help the defense’s case that his arms are even more muscular than they were during the Independents Cup.

I had a part to play in the equalizer in the eightieth minute. I caught the defense moving back too slowly on the right flank and I pointed to the spot and told Eric Dern to put the ball there. He missed slightly, but it was still trapped by Artem, who whipped the ball inside on a low cross for whoever could get to it. That ended up being Alexey Hesse, who added another goal to his total after sliding into the ball for the finish. Like I said, I don’t mean to brag. I just want to mention some things like this that the media aren’t talking about.

Anyway, the oddsmakers will be more favorable to us next time. We have to face Osarius, so we’ll see if we can keep the run going. I know we’re underdogs, but don’t count us out just yet. We have a bit of fight in us, and Chromatika discovered that the hard way.
