The RTC® Damukuni Football League
Main Landing Page

The Damukuni Football League, or the RTC DFL for sponsorship purposes, is Damukuni's premier association football (soccer) tournament. The league comprises twenty (20) teams; of these, 18 are on the Damukunian mainland, 1 (South Dre Intergalactic) is in the region of Sonnel, and 1 (Marinos Lunigo FC) is in the state of Islana Lunigo. BCCD-DFA Holdings KK, the official governing body of both cricket and association football, operates the league directly, although all of its teams are franchised.

HOW THE LEAGUE WORKS
All 20 team in the DFL and its development league, the Academy League, play each other twice, for a 38-week season. However, after the first half of the season, the Fall Split, the top 10 teams compete in a dual-gauntlet-style playoff. As teams lose out of the gauntlet, Championship Points are awarded to each team past the second round. After the second half, or the Spring Split, the top 10 teams play a second dual-gauntlet playoff. The winner of the Spring Split final is crowned the DFL Champion for that year. However, Championship Points come into play for postseason competitions, such as the UICA Champions' Cup, UICA Globe Cup, UICA Series B Champions' Cup, Campionato Esportiva di Campeones, and the Vilitan Cove Invitational.

Everyone know Gyōto needed a win to stay alive in this series, but no one thought they would pummel one of the greatest teams in the history of the FLCS. The former silver medalists could not survive the barrage of balls from every inch of the net as Mountaineers employed an all-out offence. Try as they might, Football Miracle were on the wrong end of a lopsided, 6-2 defeat, which leaves them hovering dangerously above the drop zone.

It isn't often that one sees a high-scoring line this close to the Series B Champions' Cup. However, this battle was a fight to the death; both sides gasped for air. However, all good battles must come to an end, and at the 89th minute, goal number 9 was scored, on the S & A side, for a mid-table splitter in both teams' opening games.

The four-goal storyline was originally thought to be an outlier with Mountaineers' 6-2 defeat of Football Miracle. However, it happened twice in Week 2, the losing side not scoring a single goal in either case. Additionally, this is the second time Mountaineers have won by four goals this season. Continue to watch for high offensive patterns from this team, with a highly anticipated match against table-topper S.C. West Namagoro on the way.

The Champions division does not use extra time. However, Challengers does - and the results on Day 3 of Week 2 were horrifying for supporters of the drawn-match system. The Circuit East-Black Sword matchup even went to penalties, where Black Sword capitalised on a miskick from Circuit East. However, many expect this to be a rare phenomenon, having three matches on one day go into extra time.

Day 2 was the most defensive matchday of the split. Except for the 1-1 draw between DPFC and ETCC, which was much more favourable toward the visiting team, now second in the Champions table, all of the matches were decided by a lone goal. Additionally, that day was Nasutani Powerblade's only loss on the week, as they picked up their first two wins, against Gyōto Mountaineers and Keitendō United.

The highlight match of the week for Challengers was the 8-7 win on penalties for underdog Fujiwara Electra. No goals were scored in extra time, and there was a flurry of activity in regulation. Teams in bold qualify for the Challenger Playoff.

Five divisions exist below Challengers: Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

The top 2 teams in each league (except Diamond) are automatically promoted to the next division above.
The bottom 2 teams in each division (except Bronze) are relegated to the next division below.
If a team qualifies for the Challenger Fall or Spring Promotion Playoff through the Challengers Qualifying Rounds, its promotion/relegation status is passed over.
If a team that would be promoted to the next division above is promoted to the Challenger Series instead, the next team in line is promoted to the next division.
If a team that would be relegated is promoted to the Challenger Series, only one pair of teams is promoted and relegated between that division, unless the above scenario occurs, in which the second team in line will play a home-and-away (aggregate score) series against the team that would have been relegated; the higher aggregate score wins a spot in the next division.

Procedural Notes:

Black Sword is now known as DKI Telecom Sharks. They are a continuation of the same team.
East Town Cricket Club is now known as East Town Eagles. They are a continuation of the same team.
DKI Telecom T1 and DKI Telecom LTE-A, in the Bronze Division, are open for new team sponsorships. Please telegram Damukuni with the name of a company in your nation that you would like to see sponsor a team. Companies from Damukuni are ineligible to apply. The deadline for applications will be at the end of the regular Champions/Challengers Fall Split (before the playoffs).
The Damukuni Football League now promotes and relegates teams in Champions and Challengers after Spring Splits only.
The Championship Points System for Champions remains unchanged.
The Challengers Fall Playoff is eliminated starting this season. Instead, the Spring Playoff will employ a dual-gauntlet format.
- The top four (4) teams in the Fall Split automatically qualify for the Spring Playoff.
- Up to four (4) more teams may join them upon completion of the Spring Split.
- If a team automatically qualified in the Fall Split, their place will be vacated.
- The qualifying teams will be placed alternately into the dual gauntlet tracks based on Spring Split performance, then Fall Split performance, with Spring Split taking precedence.
