Official Host Bid For Campionato Esportiva XX From The Mattijanan Department Of Sport
IC Info
Mattijana is a huge, safe nation in the north-west of Esportiva, with a mildly socialist and undoubtedly sports-loving population, aided by government funding that makes sports accessible for many people. The country's size means climate is varied, but it ranges from very chilly in the North to semi-desert in the far South. There are hills in the centre-north of the country and mountains in the centre which enjoy year-round snow in some areas.
Although the nation's economy has taken a recent slump, the department of sport believes that existing sporting and tourist infrastructure will keep the tournament affordable and will possibly provide a springboard for long-term economic recovery. The department believes that the warmth of the country's citizens towards both foreigners and the prospect of a home international tournament will make the Campionato Esportiva a huge success, should Mattijana have the honour of hosting it.
Field Hockey is Mattijana's national sport as well as it's most popular and is enjoyed at both grassroots and professional level, however other sports, most notably Handball, Tennis, Cricket, Alpine Sliding and of course Football are enjoyed by many, whilst others such as Archery, Rugby Sevens and Cycling are on the rise.
Football in Mattijana is one of the few sports that is popular in almost all parts of the country. There is an established professional football league system with 20 teams from all corners of the country. The main clubs are found in the capital city, Petrovijanka, Burges in the centre-north, Revinka on the south coast and Snezn in the North-East. There are good transport links for teams and supporters between each of these cities, whilst to make the tournament affordable and practical for those watching and taking part, each team's group stage matches will take place in a reasonably localised area.
As usual, a more detailed OOC profile will be provided if Mattijana is chosen to host the tournament.

RP Bonuses and Scorination:
Bonuses will be cumulative and graded between 0 and 5 (with 0 basically being incoherent spam and 5 being a brilliantly written RP). Quality will be preferred to quantity, while creativity, originality and interactions with other nation's delegations and the host nation will be looked upon favourably. A small host bonus will be applied, but it will not be any more than the maximum bonus for matchday 1 and will not be added to over the course of the tournament.
A style bonus of -5 to +5 will also be available, as per usual.
The association football function on XKorinate 0.3.3 will be used, along with the current CE rankings.
Experience:
Compared to more established members of the region and NS Sports, Mattijana has relatively limited hosting experience. However, previous competitions hosted have been generally smooth. These include the most recent Field Hockey World Cup, the most recent Cricket World T20 (Co-hosted with Liventia) and the inaugural NS Archery Open. I have also been regularly Rping in various tournaments for the last 2 and a half years (ish), covering football, 2 years of running a WGPC team, the NSTT and regular participation in the Olympic Games. The nature of the Field Hockey and T20 tournaments mean I am also familiar with running team sports events.
