Welcome to the second edition of the Copa d'Aeia, to be hosted by both Navack and Crylante!
All information regarding the tournament is displayed below.
Scorination
Scorination will be performed by Navack, using the latest version of xKoranate and the NSFS formula. Nations may choose modifiers from -5 on the defensive side to +5 on the attacking side; nations not stating a number will be assigned the neutral zero. (skill values will be based on the rankings devised by Frestovenia earlier in the year. Any nations without assigned values will be given one by me and Navack in the run-up to the tournament)
Format
As with the previous tournament, the Copa will begin in a group stage format, before progressing onto the knockout round. The group stages will have 1 leg. Depending on how many sign-ups we get, the tournament will either feature between a total of 16 and 40 teams.
- 16 nations: 4 groups of 4, winners and runners-up advance to the quarterfinals
- 20 nations: 4 groups of 5, winners and runners-up advance to the quarterfinals
- 24 nations: 6 groups of 4, winners, runners-up and four best third-placed teams advance to the round of 16
- 28 nations: 7 groups of 4, winners, runners-up and two best third-placed teams advance to the round of 16
- 32 nations: 8 groups of 4, winners and runners-up advance to the round of 16 (preferred number)
- 36 nations: 6 groups of 6, winners, runners-up and four best third-placed teams advance to the round of 16
- 40 nations: 8 groups of 5, winners and runners-up advance to the round of 16
Standard three points for a win, one for a draw, none for a loss. In the inevitable event that ties must be broken, the following criteria will be taken into account:
- Overall goal difference
- Overall goals for
- H2H points
- H2H goal difference
- H2H goals for
- Drawing of lots (to be done via a scorinated play-off)
A schedule for the tournament will be released when signups are confirmed.
Role Play
Nations may accumulate an RP-bonus in a multitude of ways. This may be through news articles, personal stories, chirps, blog posts or any other inventive means you can use. All RPs will be graded by Navack and/or Crylante before every match day to calculate an RP-bonus score. (I will calculate Navack and Crylante's score) RPs will be graded on a scale of (low), (medium) and (high) based on the level of effort put into a particular piece. This will then be transferred to an overall RP bonus score. In order to encourage a higher level of RP activity, the effectiveness of this bonus will be set at 35.0% and will utilise the absolute formula. RP bonuses will only apply to the nation from which it is posted. Bonuses for multis must be independent posts entered by that specific nation within the region. All RP bonuses will be reset following the conclusion of each match day. To ensure the process of assigning RP bonuses is as smooth as possible, we request that all RP articles, chirps, etc be kept within the official tournament thread when it is launched.
Eligibility
Any official member nation and their associated multis within the region of Aeia may signup to participate within the Copa. Note that nations in positions where it would be unrealistic to participate may not take part, e.g. Wustenland, Kavo.
Please note that depending on the number of signups attained, primary nations hold preference over any multis registered to participate within the tournament. If nations need to be cut from the tournament, puppets will be cut from the reverse order within the signup thread (with the holders permission).
All nations wishing to participate must indicate their intention to do so by posting within this signup thread. Nations wishing to enter multis into the tournament must indicate as such by posting with their multi within the thread independently of their primary nation. Should an insufficient number of nations signup to the tournament by the deadline, other official nations within the region will be drafted to fill numbers, these nations will receive a malus to their skill value.
Nations must be official members of Aeia prior to July 23rd 2017 to be eligible. (or must have regional admin permission otherwise)
Signups close either when the cap of 40 nations is hit, or by August 1st 2017.
