16 World Cup matchdays have come and gone……gone not exactly according to plan. Injuries, red cards, the players not giving them all, or perhaps a lack of rubber chicken sacrifices have seen you fail to qualify. We can’t always win, sometimes we fall on the last match day, but rest assured. Your effort hasn’t gone unnoticed, we are here to reward you. This is your chance to improve, this is your moment to redeem yourself. There is still glory to be had, there are still opportunities for your team to walk away from this World Cup Cycle with their heads held high and with pride. Unfortunately, there can only be. Out of you special 32 nations, only one will emerge from the carnage holding the coveted Cup of Harmony held high. Will it be you? Or will it be your rival? Or will it be a nation who only posts a roster and then doesn’t roleplay the rest of the tournament? We don’t know, but we’re here to find out.

So grab your tickets, pack your cleats, and come on over to Eshan and Drawkland for the 70th Cup of Harmony, the tournament for the best roleplayers who didn’t slide into the World Cup DMs for whatever reason.

Cup of Harmony 70 Format

The group stage for this Cup of Harmony will consist of eight groups of four teams battling to the death in a single round robin, meaning that every team will play their group mates once over the course of three matchdays. Both Eshan (groups A-D) and Drawkland (Groups E-H) will cutoff at at 10PM Eastern, or 2AM Greenwich Mean Time to ensure smooth, uniform cutoffs throughout the tournament to spare you, dear user, any unnecessary heart ache. HOWEVER, the cutoff for Drawkland's first TWO matchdays will occur later, around 1AM Eastern/5AM Greenwich but normal service will resume after this.

The top two teams from each group will secure qualification into knockout rounds of the tournament, which will progress as standard: with a Round of 16 followed by Quarterfinals, Semi-Finals, and the Final of the 70th Cup of Harmony.

Cup of Harmony 70 Tie-breakers:

Points, goal differential, H2H matches, H2H goal differential, goals scored, and, finally, wins.

Eshan | National Info

Located in Atlantian Oceania, the sporting capital of the world, the nation of Eshan is a massive diverse country holding 420 million Echani citizens. Eshan is best known in the region for its military might, progressive social democratic policies, wildly differing biomes, and producing and consuming some of the highest quantities of drugs in the world. The nation is a group of nine islands of varying size, located in the north of the Jatvian Sea, east of Western Sunrise Islands and south of Audioslavia. The landscape and climate of the nine islands varies wildly, and is different from island to island with variation within the islands themselves, but the Echani people are all the same. Fiercely patriotic, fiery individuals who pride themselves on being Echani and love politics, marijuana, and football when they're not out playing sports or working out themselves.

Eshan was once the easternmost part of an Erathore Empire before breaking away in the bloody Echani Revolution on December 29th, 1733. The newly born nation of Eshan started down the road of becoming a nation-state and became the Republic that we know today in 1742 after nine years of fighting to unify the nine islands. The Republic was born out of the Estovakian Accords, which bound the nine islands together in the Republic of Eshan. Nowadays, Eshan is a huge nation increasingly looking abroad for the thrill and honor of conquest, a particular fire burns bright in every Echani to claim Erathore.

Drawkland | National Info

Located in Sonnel, a backwater region as far as sports are concerned, Drawkland is the proud home to several billion people on its mainland. Drawkland is renowned among Sonnel and those who know it for its mighty military and economy, military domination of the region, and its musical and sporting populous. The nation itself is a massive continent, comprising most of one side of the planet, providing a sort of border between the Oreme and Navis Oceans. The climate and land vary wildly, north, east, south, and west, whether it be tropical beaches, barren deserts, lush rainforests, epic caves, sweeping plains, or snow capped mountains. Despite this, all Drawkians know that they are one people, united since the nation's beginnings, and when they're not making or listening to music, or watching or playing sports, they're interacting with each other with patriotism and camaraderie.

Drawkland has comprised its continent since it was first founded way way back at 0000 on the Sonnelian calendar. While they've never been a colony of anybody, they've certainly not shorted Sonnel or the greater multiverse in colonies, creating many in the various eras of history. Now, it's the home of a massive space empire, stretching across many systems. Drawkland prides itself on its superior and advanced technology, and this certainly extends to its military might.

All groups will be hosted in a single city. All cities have 2 stadiums, one of the city's resident DLK team, and one of the city's resident GLD team (soccer and gridiron respectively). All fields are configured for tournament play, obviously. The first match as listed on results is at the first stadium of that group, and the second match is in the second stadium.

Roleplay Permissions Thingy:
This is a list of stuff you must not do:
 • Injure my players (or give them food poisoning, or stop them from playing, etc.)
 • Red-card more than one player (who is not the goalkeeper) in every game. If I have already RPed a Tinhamptonian getting dismissed, you may only add a second one with my TGed consent.
 • Replace my squad wholesale (or near enough to wholesale, the definition of which I shall define).
Otherwise, it is open season.

Notes

After two years away from international soccer, Republican National Soccer Team, LLC has reformed just as its owner and sole proprietor has been awarded the title of Soccer General by Consul Kyle Bolton. Soccer General Rule Theriault held open tryouts throughout the FFR to find the best young soccer players and the hottest high school cheerleaders in the Federation and get them under contract to Republican National Soccer Team, LLC. After travelling across the Federation and holding 60 open tryouts, a total of 27 soccer players and 68 cheerleaders were selected for the team based on their performance, (in the case of the soccer players) game tape and discussions with their coaches. At this time, Theriault is unsure whether any of the players stand out above the rest but he is hopeful that they will be responsible to coaching from the first Soccer General in the history of the Free Republics and his legendary assistant manager Sir Koby Theodore, who shined so memorably in World Cups 68 and 71. While rumor has it that looks were a factor in selecting both the soccer team and the cheerleading squad, Soccer General Rule Theriault denies rumors that Nova Hellstrom-Hancock and Lucia Bolton had a role in selecting players for the soccer team, though he does admit that Sir Koby Theodore and Consul Kyle Bolton hand-picked the cheerleaders.

After putting up a tough fight in World Cup Qualifying, this team finished a strong third in their group and was invited to the Cup of Harmony.

The Scottopian Isles Football Association (SIFA), one of the eldest football associations in Astyria, has overseen the operations of the domestic league since 1872 when they hosted the first competitive season between 8 teams, all of which were from the cities of New Greenock & Urquhart which are just 17 miles from each other across the Urquhart Channel. 4 teams still remain today from these original 8, which are New Greenock Football Club, New Greenock United, Rangers Football Club & Urquhart Rampants. Travel between more distant islands was difficult for a grass-roots operation at first and was confined to the 2 cities.

By 1902, the game had become extremely popular across the islands and SIFA moved forward with the establishment of the Island League for teams from the Council of the San Joaquin Isles and The Northern League was created for those hailing from the northern & eastern regions of the Isle of Scottopia while rebranding the New Greenock/Urquhart competition as the Southern League. East Kilbride Football Club, MacKenzie City, MacKenzie Whitecaps, Milpitas Bay, North Shore United & Real Junipero Serra are all teams that still exist to this day from these expansion leagues.

By the 1920s, transportation technology had allowed further distances to be made in shorter times allowing the merger between the separate divisions within Scottopian Football into a singular body in 1926. To great success, 20 teams now competed in 2 divisions with a promotion/relegation system between them. Unfortunately, the Scottopian Civil War and then the Great Astyrian War where to break out soon after, which placed a hold on the activities of SIFA until the closure of hostilities almost a decade later. Due to a majority of the leagues players being drafted, many teams ceased to exist during this time.

With the resumption of games following the end of the Civil War & the Great Astyrian War, several new clubs were created by funds of the SIFA to fill in positions left by teams that no longer existed, to continue with the 20 Team/2 League system with such teams as Cappielow Cavaliers, Davanzas United, Port Elisabeth, Scottopia City and Scottopian Capitols joining the fray. To create a bond of national unity following the war, the option to crate a National Team was also undertaken.

In the decades following, many teams came and went but the league had expanded to 32 teams who competed in 3 divisions and continued this fashion until 2015 at the creation of the Elite Astyrian Football League, of which the Scottopian Isles Football Association is a founding member. At that time, 16 Scottopian teams were chosen to represent their home nation in the first Multi-National Football League in the region which consisted of 64 teams from 12 countries in 4 divisions. The EAFL was created to bring a higher professional level of play to more Astyrian nations in hopes to create further excitement and talent region wide, which has now expanded to 120 clubs from 24 countries in 5 divisions. The Scottopian Isles hosted the inaugural Terra Indicium in 2016 and were crowned their first champions, and look to defend their title in the upcoming games.

The Scottopian Isles national team along with other footballing nations from the region of Astyria were fundamental in the establishment of the Astyrian International Football Association (AIFA), which began the Astyrian Cup of Nations, competing yearly since 1968. Since its inception, the Royal CommonWealth has hosted the event 3 times (1971, 1988 & 2017) and have been crowned champions twice (2008 & 2009). The Bluebirds were just the 3rd team in AIFA history to successfully defend their title, and the only team to do so in the modern era of the tournament. In addition to these feats, they were AstyCup Runners-Up in 1967 and have been Semi-Finalists 4 times (1978, 1989, 1996 & 2015). They have also competed in the Baptism of Fire LX, the Independant Associations Cup II and World Cups LXXIII & LXXVIII.

The Royal CommonWealth of Scottopian Isles is a tropical archipelago located in the Southern Hemisphere of Astyria. Located exactly in the center of the Scottopian Straits, the country has always been a bridge between Eastern & Western cultures in the region and its diverse population & culture stands to represent that. The population is over 56 Million who have established a Democratic Socialist society, with orders of government and national affairs ran by a Prime Minister & Parliament. However, the nation is in fact a Constitutional Monarchy with Heads of State being King Scott James & Queen Elisabeth, who have ruled for nearly 3 decades as part of the House of Raithbheartaigh. The nation has a tremendous economy due to tourism, strategic shipping routes, plentiful natural resources & produce. The citizens enjoy great Civil, Economical & Political rights, of which they are proud to be a beacon of light within Astyria.

Image

The islands were formed by volcanic activity initiated at an undersea magma source. The process is continuing to build islands as the tectonic plate beneath much of the ocean continually moves southeast and the hot spot remains stationary, slowly creating new submerged volcanoes. This volcanic activity and subsequent erosion have created impressive geological features including the fifth-highest point among the Astyria's islands. Because the islands are vastly distant from other major land habitats, life is thought to have arrived there by wind, waves & wings. This isolation, in combination with the diverse environment including extreme altitudes changes, tropical, grassy and arid climates along with deep & shallow water shorelines, produced an array of endemic flora and fauna. The Scottopian Isles have more endangered species and has lost a higher percentage of its endemic species than any other Astyrian nation.

The islands are well known for the environmental diversity that occurs from sea level to the high mountains within a trade winds field. On any island, the climate around the coasts can range from dry tropical (less than 20 inches/ 510 millimeters annual rainfall) to wet tropical climates on the higher up slopes. Environments range from tropical rainforest (more than 200 inches or 5,100 millimeters per year), through a temperate climate, to alpine conditions with a cold, dry climate. The rainy climate impacts soil development, which largely determines ground permeability, affecting the distribution of streams and wetlands across the archipelago.

Image

The Scottopian Isles climate is typical for the tropics, although temperatures and humidity tend to be less extreme because of near-constant trade winds from the East Scottopian Straits. Summer highs usually reach around 88°F/31°C during the day with the temperature reaching around 75°F/24°C at night. Winter day temperatures are slightly lower around 83°F/28°C. At higher elevations they can dip below 65°F/18°C at night. Snow, not usually associated with the tropics, has fallen at heights near the 13,500ft/4,200m summits on the Isle of Scottopia in some winter months, which can be expected from the second-highest average annual rainfall within Astyria, at about 460 inches (12,000 mm) per year. In actuality though, Royal CommonWealth only experiences only two differing seasons; the dry season runs from May to October and the wet season is from October to April.

English and Native Scottopian are listed as the archipelago's "official languages" in the countries modern constitution. It specifies that "Scottopian shall be required for public acts and transactions only as provided by local law", which essentially gives the right of the local area in question to interpret how to conduct linguistics. Locally it is referred to as "Scotto", and is the native language of many native residents and is a second language for many families descending from settlers to the islands. As of the 2015 Census, 64% of Scottopian residents exclusively speak English in their homes or at business. 31% of residents know or speak some form of Scotto while only 17% are considered as fluent speakers. 11% of the population can speak some form of Spanish due to historical colonization efforts and 9% can speak other languages from Astyria. The Census determined that 36% of the Royal CommonWealth is bilingual.

Image

Some key customs and etiquette within the archipelago are as followed: When visiting a home of a family, friend or acquaintance, it is considered good manners, even in business transactions, to always bring a small gift for one's host, were most commonly drinks, food or flowers are issued. Thus, most parties are usually in the form of banquets were multiple guests each bring a plate to share. Most locals take their shoes off before entering a home that is not theirs, were to not do so is considered rude. But if you happen to forget, the host may not tell you to do so, as ironically it is also considered rude. It is also customary for families, regardless of ethnicity, to hold a large community celebration for their child's first birthday as the culture of the nation is that it takes multiple individuals to truly help raise a child. It is also customary at Scottopian weddings for the bride and groom to have a blend of Scottish as well as Scottopian influences, in addition to their own decor. However, something that is tricky for foreigners to grasp is how what to call somebody from the islands, where the wordage a person uses has to be very careful to keep harmony between the various cultures. Non-native citizens will refer to themselves as Scottopian, but say it in a form such as "I /am/ Scottopian" in reference to their nationality. Where as native Scottopians will proudly say "I am /a/ Scottopian", to reference their cultural heritage.

The cuisine of the country is a fusion of many fruits, vegetables, nuts, meats & other foods brought by immigrants to the isles, including the earliest native cuisine and those of Scottish, Spanish, Indo-European & Oriental origins. Plant and animal food sources are imported from around Astyria for agricultural use in Scottopia, while major agricultural exports of the nation is our tropical fruits & vegetables, which grow year round in the tropical sun. Poi, a starch like substance made by pounding taro plant, is one of the traditional foods of the islands, and is known to be the best natural product to give a nursing child asides their mothers milk. Seafood, Pork, Chicken and Beef are all used frequently in these meals across the islands, although over half of traditional meals are seafood orientated. Rice is a complementary food with all meals in the Scottopian Isles

Image

Traditional Scottopian folk music is a major part of the countries heritage. The native people have inhabited the islands for centuries and have retained much of their traditional musical knowledge through story singing. Their music is largely religious in nature, which includes rhythmic chanting and dancing. Music and dance has an enormous impact on the identity of each islands or regions of bigger islands, as it is the story of their separate ancestors. Additionally, each set of settlers such as the Scottish & Spanish brought their own flavorings of music such as Bagpipes, Drums, Guitars and other instrumental stylings. The influence of such was declared a "unifying factor in the development of modern Scottopian culture".

Scottopian Isles National Stadium
Image
Location: Scottopia City, Council of Capitola
Capacity: 100,000
Home to: Scottopia City & Scottopian Capitols
Opening Year: 2007
About: A most impressive sight, located just outside the capitol city's financial district is the largest venue within the Royal CommonWealth is the Scottopian Isles National Stadium, or 'ScotStand' as the local population tends to refer to it as. The stadium as it is today was constructed on top the ground that once hosted the former Scottopia National Stadium which was built in 1926. When several safety concerns were addressed in the early 2000's, a consortium between the Scottopian Isles Football Association and the government led to the development of the National Stadium with an increase from 60,000 to 100,000 capacity. 'ScotStand' is the center for football within the Scottopian Isles, with all domestic tournament finals being played there. It also hosts a majority of the National Teams home games when playing international opponents. Being so, the stadium contains a Scottopian football museum, adjacent training complex and a restaurant overlooking the field with a view of Scottopia City.

James Watt Park
Image
Location: New Greenock, Council of the Inverclyde Isles
Capacity: 75,000
Home to: New Greenock Football Club & New Greenock United
Opening Year: 1989
About: During the 1980s, the 2 teams from New Greenock were dominating the Scottopian Premiership with both teams winning a combined 21 of 30 available trophies during the decade. Both being historically established teams, the idea that their current grounds were to small for each of the New Greenock fan base was evident to both the United & FC support groups. Although the cross-city rivals may just be the most fierce in all of the Royal CommonWealth, both teams came together to create their new stadium. At was once an aged horse racing track, the grounds were raised and the current stadium was established which at until 2007, was the largest stadium in the Scottopian Isles.

Royal Colliseum
Image
Location: Urquhart, Council of South Scottopia
Capacity: 65,000
Home to: Urquhart Rampants
Opening Year: 1961
About: In an effort to bring prestige back to the city after the transfer of the nations capitol to Scottopia City, officials for Urquhart envisioned a grand stadium to which they could one day host the famed Astyrian Games or the Olympics. In collaboration with King William, the city erected the Royal Coliseum close to the southern shoreline to catch the view of the ocean liners than frequented the Scottopian waters. Although the Olympic dream has yet to come true, the stadium was host to the 1966 & 1982 Astyrian Games to grand audience at home and abroad. While it is one of the largest venues in the Royal CommonWealth that only one premiership team calls their home turf, the arena is also known to be the second home to the national squad.

Estadio de San Francisco
Image
Location: Milpitas Bay, Council of the San Joaquin Isles
Capacity: 55,000
Home to: Milpitas Bay
Opening Year: 1998
About: The largest stadium built outside the "main islands", the Estadio de San Francisco is the pride of the San Joaquin Isles with their distinct and varied culture that is found nowhere else in the Royal CommonWealth. But just like the main islands, the love for the beautiful game is just as strong where the grounds hold the distinction of having the most games played by the National Team outside of the Isle of Scottopia. As with most within the Council of San Joaquin, a majority of the population can Spanish as well as Scots-English, giving the stadium its Hispanic name and alternate design than the norm from the rest of the country.

MacKenzie Dome
Image
Location: MacKenzie City, Council of the Northern Highlands
Capacity: 45,000
Home to: MacKenzie City & MacKenzie WhiteCaps
Opening Year: 1993
About: With the conditions of the Northern Highlands being a different than the tropical beaches and rainforests found across the rest of the islands, the 5th largest city in the archipelago constructed the MacKenzie Dome, the only indoor arena within the country. With the bubbled construction of the venues roof, it keeps the elements that usually harass MacKenzie City for the better part of the year that interrupted games in the decades before. Another stadium that is home to two teams within the Scottopian Isles Football Association, it gives an easy advantage to the home sides at the elevation of 793ft, the highest elevation of any Royal CommonWealth stadium, which can wear down the opponents not used to the change in oxygen levels. Although not home to many national team games, they do use the facilities to prepare for oversea's games that are at higher elevations.

Morton Stadium
Image
Location: Cappielow City, Council of the Auchendowrs Isles
Capacity: 30,000
Home to: Cappielow Cavaliers
Opening Year: 1995
About: Built into the rockface of an older quarry, Morton stadium sits above Cappielow City with great views down to the oceans edge. With the grounds not having a Eastern or Western section, the stadiums design is unique and found nowhere else within Astyria. The arena's tiers tower above the playing field bringing an intense feel to the crowd watching in the Auchdowrs Isles at the most southern facility in the Scottopian Isles.

City of Davanzas Stadium
Image
Location: Davanzas, Council of the Wasatch Isles
Capacity: 25,000
Home to: Davanzas United
Opening Year: 2011
About: One of the more recently built within the Royal CommonWealth, the design of the venue's roof mimic's with the contour of the nearby mountain's ridgeline that is perched above the city of Davanzas where from a lower elevation, can blend into the surroundings. But make no mistake once you are inside the grounds, the atmosphere is one that rivals the "main islands" love of the game that does not easily hide into its surroundings.

Queens Waterside Park
Image
Location: Port Elisabeth, Council of the Huntington Isles
Capacity: 25,000
Home to: Port Elisabeth
Opening Year: 2013
About: The newest stadium in the Scottopian Isles and one of the most unique in Astyria, the Queens Waterside Park was constructed under direction from King Scott James who also designed the entire project. Built in beautiful Port Elisabeth in Huntington's Harbor, the venue was a gift to the Queen to host her hometown's team's matches. The Queens, as it is referenced as, has been praised on numerous architectural milestones where floating platforms keep the pitch steady even during not so agreeable weather, but it does already claim the fact that more official game balls have been lost here than all other stadiums in the Scottopian Isles combined.

Phil Johnson is probably the best manager in New Danican today, and maybe all-time. He was won 10 domestic championships during his time as manager of the Grand Danican Lions, and is generally acknowledged as a strategic master. He hopes to bring that success to the World Cup.

Assistant Manager: Mark William(42)
Mark Williams will be assisting Johnson for this tournament. He is usually in charge of practices, and served as Johnson's assistant for the BoF, and knows the style Johnson likes to see in his team.

Löptsegl National Football Team

The Free Territory of Löptsegl, an island nation situated in the North Atlantic, is not an ideal location for playing football; mainly due to the cold temperatures during the Autumn and Winter seasons. Football is thus not a very developed sport in Löptsegl, only recently having developed beyond the various recreational leagues in the southern islands. Bandy and Ice Hockey are far more popular in Löptsegl proper, as well as on the island of Austland. However, football is rapidly spreading further North through the archipelago as a summer sport. Many in the nation, a collection of anarchist communes and towns, approached the idea of a national team with skepticism. First of all, not many people played it, and it would be hard to organize along the lines of anarchism and democracy. Eventually they decided on a democratic process to select the best football players. Each township that decided to participate would hold tryouts and vote on who they thought was best. This would keep going with tryout cycles until the best players were picked by the elected manager and assistant manager. Now in 2017, after participating in both the Baptism of Fire and the World Cup Qualifying, Löptsegl has been invited to the 70th Cup of Harmony.

Eastfield Lodge Roster for Cup of Harmony 70

Demonym: Eastfielder

Eastfield Lodge is a pretty glorious nation, somewhat situated in Northern Rushmore - in reality, there's a very small island (acting as a transport hub) which hosts a portal linking the NSverse to a small bubble universe, wherein the rest of the Imperial Commonwealth is located (barring a couple of nations, but they’re linked up in other ways). The IC part describes the fact that there are several empires contained within one superstructure – divisions which are somewhat reflected in the convoluted league structure.

Those of you who know this nation well however will wonder what has happened to the Whoniverse (the universe of Doctor Who, the TV programme). Don’t worry, I will (hopefully) RP what went on. To those who don’t know, this nation used be in the NSverse, but due to the acts of a lone madman from The Holy Empire (mad, or pitiful, the legends are a bit shaky), Eastfield Lodge almost vanished from existence, leaving behind a small island (now in Rushmore), attached to a portal connecting here to the Whoniverse. Things happened, the portal became unstable, and we had to form a bubble universe, and as a result, the resulting temporal shockwave both wiped out all electronic records, and did some weird stuff to people’s ages (hence why some names in the team may seem recognisable).

Anyways, because of the initial portal, whilst humans are the overwhelming majority of the populace here, don't be surprised to find several other races and much advanced technology here. Some more historical information can be found here, in lieu of a factbook (NB: a lot of the information there is inaccurate though, TG me for clarification).

Back to the nation itself, Eastfield Lodge is probably the best place to live in the entirety of Rushmore, according to the WA at any rate. Amongst the accolades heaped upon are: Most Compassionate Citizens, Most Beautiful Environments, Happiest Citizens, Most Dedicated Public Healthcare, Healthiest Citizens, Least Corrupt Government, Longest Average Lifespan, Lowest Crime Rates, Nicest Citizens, Largest Public Transportation Department, Safest, Smartest Citizens, Most Popular Tourist Destinations, Best Weather and Largest Welfare Programs. Also of note is the fact that, in a region containing Saintland, Eastfield Lodge is the Most Devout nation, with Islam being the national religion, and that we have the Highest Police Ratios, so do not be alarmed by the sheer number of police officers.

Lodger City Memorial Stadium
Location: New Lodger City
Capacity: 150,000
Description: The home of Eastfielder football, the stadium was built on the ruins of the old capital of Eastfield Lodge, Lodger City, which was flattened in a double disaster (severe floods from dams bursting and an explosion from an unknown source, killing much of the population of the city and rendering the city useless. Administrative functions were transferred over to Lodgertia, the city began to be rebuilt, and it was decided that this stadium would be one of the monuments erected in place. The inside walls contains inscriptions of the names of all the dead – just under 9 million. The stadium used to play host to the two classic giants of EL football – RGS Athletic and VLC FC - until both had their new stadiums finished; it is now only used for internationals and cup matches.

Parliament Stadium
Location: Lodgertia
Capacity: 80,000
Description: Formerly the second largest stadium in Eastfield Lodge (until King Iqbal II and Vorgan Park were completed), behind the Memorial Stadium in New Lodger City, it was built in the centre of Lodgertia, the capital of Eastfield Lodge, and the Imperial Commonwealth. It was named due to the fact that the Parliament is based just a few hundred metres down the road; in fact, the original stadium was actually joined to the Parliament building, as an area where MPs could watch or even engage in sport with the public, as well as being a designated protest site. However, with Lodgertia becoming more built up, it was decided that the stadium needed to be built up as well. It is home to Lodgertia United and Lodgertia City alongside being temporary hosts of RGS Athletic and VLC FC (when Lodger City was being rebuilt), and in the past has hosted several international matches, including the final of SBCC 27 and a group in both stages of Market Cup 4.
Manager: Lowell Brown
Age: 60. Manager of Seaton Town, Brown is known in Eastfield Lodge for being one of the fairest and impartial managers in the top flight - if his team were lucky with a decision, he will not claim otherwise. Prior to being selected as National Team manager, he had managed on the international scene previously, being put in charge of both the men’s and women’s Olympic football teams.
Coach: Shabeen Ahmad III
Age: 65. He went down in Eastfield Lodge history as having scored an absurd 201 goals in 215 appearances for the EL national team (records are still being compiled, but he looks likely to be the human player with the highest tally). Still an inspiration to everyone and even at this age his skill is noticeable, even if his agility has waned. He has been the main offensive coach for several World Cups now.

Formation: 4-1-2-3
Image

The formation is a weird variant on the classic basic 4-3-3. Here, there is the one holding midfielder, and the other two are pushed up to play just off the ST as attacking midfielders, whilst the WFs are also slightly tucked in from a usual position. This allows them more of an equal choice of either cutting in or going out wide for the cross, which may be met by the other winger or one of the midfielders. The front five can drift to other positions at any time, just to keep defences on their toes. Defensively, the AMs will drop back and slightly out wide or into the middle as required, and are decently proficient at dispossessing the ball and using it well. The DM is mainly there to guard the defence, and is adept at picking out a pass (short or long), and helping to dictate plays. The CBs are as standard, but the FBs are given the freedom to roam forwards as far as they can get away with, and more often than will get involved in attacking plays, with some crosses from both deep and closer in.
In terms of goal scoring, the ST will get the bulk of the goals, with good contributions from both the AMs and the WFs as well. The WFs will get most of the assists, followed closely by the AMs, then the ST and DM.

Select my scorers: Y
Give out yellow cards to my players: Y (maximum five, TG me with a reason for more)
Give out red cards to my players: Y (only one more than the number given to your team, maximum of three - i.e. I get two red cards, you must have at least one)
RP injuries to my players: Y (Maximum 3, no career-ending injuries without my explicit permission – I reserve right to how long players are out; you can RP how severe it looks)
Godmod injuries: Y (within some reason)
Godmod scoring events: Y (Have fun.)
Godmod other events: Y (TG me if you're planning on killing anybody though, or anything really extreme.)

If I do RP, I will include the line-up for the next match in my RP post, along with any suspensions/injuries. If there is no line-up, look through my posts and check for current suspensions/injuries, but otherwise it’s fine. Also, if you're RP'ing any part of my match, please use the full name Eastfield Lodge at least once, it helps me find the RP.

NB: As the people of EL are extremely compassionate, and very civilised (despite what you may say about the religion), it would be uncharacteristic for the coaches/players to lose their temper, dive deliberately (jumping out of the way of bad tackles and falling awkwardly doesn't count), to be sent to the stands (if the ref is clearly very biased however...), spit, argue with the ref or fight. Players will also tend to inform the referee about mistakes/clarifications in judgement regarding throw-ins, fouls given but with no contact and goal kicks/corner kicks (plus other bouts of honesty - up to you).

Football is one of the three national sports within Coldfield - along with Boxing and Archery. Practiced since 1890 yet the first national football tournament was held in 1950 - the Commonwealth Cup. In early years football teams were quite amateur and they took part in regional championships: North, Central Mountains, South, and West. Nowadays Coldfieldian clubs play in a yearly domestic cup, three national leagues, and six regional conferences. The Coldfieldian National Football Team (the CNFT) was established in late 2016 and took part in Baptism of Fire 64, being eliminated by Amnarei-asud in the penalties after a dramatic match in the quarter-finals. Coldfield also participated in the WC 77 and Campionato Esportiva 19; in the former CNFT was eliminated in the qualification stage after a "cringeworthy" campaign; in the latter, Coldfield won just one match and didn't make into the round of sixteen. In the World Cup 78 qualifiers Coldfield had a real chance of qualifying, however, the 1-2 loss for Tinhampton at the Crownsville Palace Colossus destroyed any chances our team had, finishing fourth in Group Three with eight wins, four draws, and four losses.

Record: 25-13-23

First Match: San José Guayabal 3-0 Coldfield, friendly
First Win: Verukt 1-2 Coldfield, BoF 64 group stage

THE PEOPLE’S FEDERATION OF YUEZHOU - NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM

月州人民联邦 - 国家足球队

Nickname: The Red Dragons
Manager: Alex CARTWRIGHT
Style Modifier: 0

Formation: 3-5-2 / 5-3-2

GOALKEEPERS

#01 - WEI Haidong - 28 - Nangang Royals

He’s not very old, but Wei Haidong has already become a club legend for Nangang. Making his first-team debut at the age of eighteen and becoming an established starter by nineteen, Wei has amassed over three hundred appearances for his club. Can he become the same player for the Red Dragons? He certainly has the physical talent needed - his play is marked by fantastic reflexes and athleticism - but although he’s very vocal off the pitch, he’s not exactly a leader on it, and he does make the occasional gaffe on set-pieces.

#12 - LI Weifeng - 26 - Beian City
#23 - WU Zhen - 20 - Yincheng Capitals

Li Weifeng is impressive enough on his own, but although the diminutive keeper rarely makes mistakes, he’s not exactly the shot-stopper Wei is. Still, the Beian keeper is an excellent backup. Meanwhile, Yincheng backup Wu Zhen is exactly the kind of modern distributor that Cartwright wants wearing the #01, but he’s nowhere near ready yet.

DEFENDERS

#17 - FAN Xiaopeng - 26 - Beian City
#02 - TAN Ming - 27 - Xinhai FC
#03 - HAN Ruoyang [C] - 28 - Beian City
#15 - JIN Guiyu - 24 - SC Jiangdong
#05 - WU Yong - 31 - Olympic Nangang

Not the most talented defense you’ll ever see, but they’re organized well, and they do have their bright spots. The biggest bright spot of all would be fearless captain Han Ruoyang in the center of the defense. Ruoyang is not only a fantastic defender, but also quick and an adept playmaker who likes to drift forwards. Still, he’s a great leader of the defense, and helps it stay stable even while going forward. On either side of him are two nondescript but solid center-backs - Tan Ming and Jin Guiyu are both decent in the air and athletic enough to get by, but neither is a huge talent. Wu Yong on the right is a wingback who’s very capable of bombing forwards, although he’s weaker on defense than other options, while his partner Fan Xiaopeng is a versatile, athletic attacking option at either wing-back position.

#13 - MA Hailian - 33 - Nangang Royals
#16 - DENG Songan - 28 - Beian Athletic
#24 - WANG Wuying - 26 - Beian Athletic
#14 - LIN Wangming - 19 - Beiyun Stars

A solid assortment of backup options. All eyes will be on teenage prodigy Lin Wangming, who at eighteen has forced his way into a starting spot and could start as soon as WC79. Still, the other players are strong as well. Deng is a more physical center-back options who could be used to close out a game, the veteran Ma is a Swiss Army Knife who can do a mediocre job at any role given to him, and former starter Wang, despite a poor qualifying campaign, is still a solid backup option at center-back.

MIDFIELDERS

#08 - ZHANG Zhenya - 30 - Nangang Royals
#21 - WEN Xiaoli - 23 - Mükiachou Revolutionaries
#18 - TAO Long - 34 - Beian Athletic

Cartwright has raised eyebrows - and potentially done much more in the long run - by centering his midfield around controversial young Wen Xiaoli. A proud member of the Sangau (a questionably-Yue western territory) Nationalist Movement who has been imprisoned several times for his actions as part of the SNM, Wen is nevertheless a brilliant playmaker and tireless presser who is worth the trust Cartwright has put in him. Flanking him is competent water-carrier Zhang Zhenya and devoted patriot and defensive midfielder Tao Long. Tao’s relationship with Wen Xiaoli will be an interesting one.

#06 - ZHAO Lianbang - 33 - Yincheng Capitals
#11 - HONG Guilin - 25 - Xi’hai Warriors
#21 - GU Yang - 27 - FC Shanbei

Yincheng’s veteran midfielder Zhao Lianbang is a very solid backup who serves the same purpose as Zheng Zhenya, while Gu Yang is a polished, experienced wide midfielder with creativity in spades who - since his injuries - simply doesn’t have the athleticism to start. Hong Guilin, a new addition to the team and one of Cartwright’s favorites, is a tireless defensive midfielder who also has an eye for counterattacks.

STRIKERS

#09 - FU Xi - 24 - Yincheng Capitals
#22 - JIAWEI Sangu - 31 - Mükiazhou Athletic

The opposite of Qiu Hanying's pessimistic one-striker formation, Alex Cartwright’s attack is fluid, dynamic, and athletic. Fu Xi is a false-nine who has played a leading role in Yincheng’s rise to relevance, and is known both for his playmaking abilities and for his finishing skills inside the box. At his side is Jiawei Sangu. One of two Mükiazhou-based players on the team, Jiawei has scored 278 goals over 11 seasons and is a complete striker who will play much further inside than former winger Guo.

#07 - GUO Zexi - 25 - Beian City
#19 - XIE Xueyi - 24 - FC Xihaishi
#20 - REN Delan - 28 - Beian Athletic

A decent group of backups. Guo Zexi, who can come on as an attacking wing-back option, in the midfield, or up front, is a flashy dribbler and excellent passer who doesn't have the end product to start. Xie Xueyi may have questionable decision making at times, but he’s young, talented, and athletic, and will be useful as an impact sub. Meanwhile, the veteran Ren Delan (replacing fan favorite Chen Huikang) can play at any position in the front three, and is fairly good at everything he does - although he’s had a lifelong struggle with penalty kicks.

RP Permissions: Don't kill/injure for life, TG for approval if you're going to godmod. Everything else is fair game.

After 16 grueling matches, the Qasden Vans managed to conjure one of their best qualifying seasons yet, with 2 defeats to Brenecia being the only non-pointed games. Despite valiant effort in their final 2 matches against Savojarna and Tobiasia, QAFA was cursed with the double draw, allowing for Port Christopher to sneak past the Q's for a stunning comeback.

So here we are again. After countless overnight riots and rage usurped the streets of Qasden (See The Heartbreak of Catiger for more info), the Vans return to a third-consecutive Cup of Harmony, where they'll have to tackle WCC icons such as Nephara, Ceni, and Red Blackiland, if they desire to retain their title.

Can Merritt and the Vans NT conquer their greatest competition yet? Or will they succumb to the danger and leave the insane asylum of Clutch City? The sacrifice to Marlene is at dawn, so stay tuned, stay updated, and stay alert for the Qasden Vans in the 70th Anniversary Edition of the Cup of Harmony, hosted by the mass arsenals of Eshan and Drawkland!

Aggrey-Fynn Land's National Anthem- "Glory to the New Wave"

BACKGROUND

From it's founding, Aggrey-Fynn Land has been a soccer-crazed nation. Children run around playing soccer in their spare time. Weekends usually consist of people glued to their TVs or phones watching the domestic league. Fans follow their favorite teams religiously, and the best players are treated like gods. Despite soccer being the sport of choice for Aggrey-Fynn Landers, the national team is relatively inexperienced; the 65th Baptism of Fire was Aggrey-Fynn Land's first jaunt on the international stage. The team got off to a rocky start in the group stage, where a 5-2 win against Miloscia was needed on the final day in order to advance. Aggrey-Fynn Land did very well at the tournament overall, going all the way to the finals. They finished second, losing a extremely close final in Drawkaland Drawkland to Solsteed Soltsteed, 3-2.

Aggrey-Fynn Land managed to punch above their weight in the World Cup 78 qualifiers. They beat The Isles of Avon (who were ranked about twice as high as them at the time) twice, and they thrashed Sarrbia (ranked 110th at the time) 4-0, which was Aggrey-Fynn Land's largest margin of victory at the time. With the help of unlikely victories against teams Aggrey-Fynn Land was expected to lose to, they managed to pose a threat to the other teams in Group 7 and have a shot at qualifying. However, Aggrey-Fynn Land's hopes of qualifying for the 78th World Cup were dashed after the 16th matchday, with a 1-3 defeat to Semarland.

Aggrey-Fynn Land now go into the Cup of Harmony with optimism, hoping for some more good results in order to round out what has been a pleasant year for soccer in the country.

THE TEAM

All players and staff are Aggrey-Fynn Lander unless otherwise specified; All clubs are Aggrey-Fynn Lander unless otherwise specified.

Manager- Jerry Simmons- 64 years old
Lovingly nicknamed "The Grey Fox" by his players, Jerry has been playing the game since he was a boy. Due to his age, he has seen a lot of football and thus has many tactics and concepts he implements on his team. A successful run in the Baptism of Fire tournament has earned him the trust of the FA and the admiration of the fans, so he appears to have the job for the time being.

Jerry Simmons plays in a defensively minded 4-4-1-1 formation with a style modifier of -2. His aim is to play a slightly conservative game. The plan is not to preemptively attack, but to hold possession and build from the back. The team holds back until they can find a hole in the opponent's defense, and then ruthlessly exploit it.

This is the typical starting lineup, barring injuries or suspensions.
[img][/img]

Assistant Manager- Donny Tremors- 31 years old
Donny is relatively young for a coach; some even still mistake him for a player! Don't let this fool you though, he has been Jerry's understudy for 6 years and has gained considerable knowledge about the game. When Jerry decides to retire, he has been tipped by some pundits to be his successor. He has a bit of a temper, and can go off on his players or the officials at any moment.

Right Back- Quintavius Tracy #14 - 24 years old - Sauce Gods
Started playing soccer at the age of 16 and fell in love with the game. Like Tanner Grammy, he has an array of skill moves that he does not hesitate to use on his opponents. As a result of his skill, he plays with a bit of flair; it is not uncommon to see cheeky flicks and headers from him.

Center Back- Renato Milan #23 - 23 years old - Trill Boys
He got his start in soccer by designing his local club's kit as a boy. Eventually, he joined the team, learning quickly and becoming one of the best center backs in the country. He loves the limelight, and he escapades off the field often distract from his achievements on it. When he is focused on the game, his reckless personality turns into a collected one, and he can easily win a tackle for his team if needed.

Center Back- Justin Green #2- 28 years old - Clout Boys
He is small for a center back, and this made many people write him off early in his career. This just made the natural chip on his shoulder even bigger, which helped in his rise to the top. Notable for his pinpoint passes and energetic personality. Another asset is his stamina; he never seems to falter during games, even in difficult conditions.

Left Back- Gee Francisco #46- 33 years old - FC Bassalona
He was inspired by his dad to start playing. Coincidentally enough, he became a left back just like his dad. He uses his pace to run up and down the left side of the field and help out his teammates. Despite his age,
he does not appear to be slowing down; he has said that he hopes to still be able to play at this level for years to come.

Right Mid- Ronald Johnson #22- 24 years old - FC Samueltown
Known for his excellent through balls and easy-going nature, Ronald has been playing since his school days. A key component during forward plays, he slings the ball to the attackers and creates chances. He is a compassionate person, and regularly volunteers for charities in his spare time.

Center Mid- Jones Strong #4- 25 years old - Wavy Boys
Just like his name suggests, he is very strong. His physicality is a huge asset to the team, but he does tend to get more yellow and red cards because of it. He takes part in body building competitions in his spare time.

Center Mid- Roman Kendrick #38 (Captain)- 33 years old - FC Bassalona
Although he is one of the older people on the team, he is one of the most influential. A born leader, he planned to go into politics at first, until he realized that he could control people all the same on the pitch. A real creative outlet; not only can he connect with other players to make big things happen, he can also take the ball himself to create a chance.

Left Mid- R.J. Duval #16 - 28 years old - Climbers
R.J. likes to joke around off the pitch, but on it he is no joke. His deadly shot and pace makes him the X-Factor on the team. He was key to Climbers promotion campaign this year. In his spare time, he does stand up comedy.

Attacking Mid: Tanner Grammy #7- 22 years old - Club Euphoric
His play is very flashy. Since he has played almost all his life, he has mastered many ball tricks, making him even more difficult to account for. He is a singer-songwriter in his free time, and occasionally his songs are played on the radio.

Attacker: Gordon Whitlick #10- 20 years old - Golden Boys
He grew up very poor. This gave him a work ethic unmatched and led to him having lots of success in the game even at a young age. Despite his high skill right now, he still has lots of potential, and is tipped to move to a bigger club outside Aggrey-Fynn Land to continue developing.

Goalie: Jahseh Twins #1- 30 years old - Blues Club
He was a soccer star when he was young, but then he ended up working for an insurance firm. Two years ago, he got back into the game, and took his spot back as the country's premier keeper.
His ball skills leave something to be desired, but he makes up for it with his sure hands.

Substitutes and Reserves
Almost all of them are under the age of 20, as Simmons wishes to develop his youth talent. These are high potential players, who are tipped to break into the team sooner or later.

Savojarna's women play fairly balanced, but with a slightly offensive bias. The team usually relies on speed, strength and fast counters for their goals, as well as the great technics of Jarkasjärvi, who is a constant danger with set pieces. Their main weapon in attack is Sigurdsdottir, the tallest player of the team, who is a very good header. Both fullbacks are very fast and good at crossings, as well as the LF and RF of the team, which will make the striker a constant threat. In defense, the team has opted for speed rather than physical strength as there were concerns if the latter strategy would work against the world's best men's teams. Among the substitutes, the most prominent players of the team are Tanja Mahlström, who has a name as a great joker; Svetlana Namenkova who is the captain of the Savojar Women's U19; and Kaisa Hytamäki, a player who is especially known for her speed and her offensive qualities.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

Well, this wasn't supposed to happen like this. Abanhfleft wasn't supposed to be in the Cup of Harmony. Holly Jonasson was supposed to win the World Cup on her final stint as Abanhfleft's manager. Or maybe this is her destiny, to win the Cup of Harmony on her last year with Abanhfleft. Or is it really? Who's going to win this whole thing anyway? Let's find out....

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +3.5
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Manager: Holly Jonasson (44 y/o, Anglatia)

STARTERS
GK: Patricia FOULKE 35 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image (#13)
There's no getting around the fact that Patty Foulke (called both respectfully and irreverently as "Fat Patty" by the fans, the opposition, and everyone in Abanhfleft as a whole) is what she is: one of the fattest and biggest goalkeepers there ever was. At over 15 stone, Foulke is a big and intimidating presence between the sticks whether it's during open play or a set piece like a free kick, a corner, or even a penalty. "Fat Patty" finally made her way back into contention for the Fleftic national team after Yannie Redborne announced her retirement from international football and Yelena Valinovskaya was ruled out of the national squad due to operations to repair ligament damage suffered during the previous season. She is also making her way into contention for the number 1 spot for Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies with Victoria Carter rumored to be mooting retirement after this season.

RB: Claire OSGOOD 32 y/o, Blue Coast 1981 Image (Port Christopher) (#2)
Claire is one of the few Fleftic players playing in a foreign league that is not the Pridnestrovian Super League, the Oontaz National League or the Copper Cuprum First Division, and she is also the first Fleftic to move to another team that is not playing within Abanhfleft's sphere of influence. Like Dana Valentine on the other side of the pitch, Claire appears tireless as she runs all over the field, covering the flanks and sometimes even acting as a wingback if the situation demands. She has a mean long shot and also sometimes can act as a poacher for set pieces such as corners. She was sold by Sarvusdalamoive Ladies to Blue Coast 1981 in Port Christopher for a club record fee of NS$22m.

CB: Dawn JACKSON 32 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies Image (#4)
A single center back is rare to find in international football these days, and the fact that Dawn is able to do it day in and day out for both the national team and Markovsky Ladies is a testament to her skills. Few will begrudge her her moments for both club and country, and sometimes, when the going gets tough, she can be the last line of defense at one end and a scoring threat at the other just seconds later. If she's the last player between the opposition and the keeper, she will not hesitate to tackle. It's put a lot of yellow cards and a few red cards on her career, but who can blame the daughter of the legendary defender MacArthur "Mac" Jackson for inheriting his defensive style?

LB: Jordana VALENTINE 31 y/o, Xemlice Rovers Ladies Image (#3)
Abanhfleft's women's football team managed to nearly qualify for the World Cup with only three defenders, and the fact that these three defenders are able to cover the large amount of space between and around them has made said defense world-renowned. Dana has a powerful engine to accompany her unusually long strides, and her measured yet high-tempo runs allow her to cover said large spaces even for her small stature, and is excellent at both attacking and defending set pieces. However, she is a confidence player, meaning a few bad games and her form could dip below the standard, as became noticeable in Abanhfleft's last few games in World Cup 72 qualifiers following her scoring an own goal for New Wolfopolis.

RM: Bella MAYNARD 35 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies Image (#5)
Bella was one of the surprise players for Abanhfleft in the World Cup 72 qualifiers, revealing herself to be much more than just a box-to-box midfielder. Turns out that she actually has a wicked good free kick and long range shot, and is also a good poacher of both goals and set pieces, especially when she is in the box during goal scrambles. There are often times, though, that she is the last line of defense before the actual defenders themselves, and when she's not too heavily involved in the attack during these times, count on her to make a critical tackle to stop the opponents' momentum and halt their attack on its tracks. Still, she can be caught unawares, especially by a very good and very quick counterattacking side.

LM: Lea CHOI 28 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies Image (#6)
A good showing from Lea in Abanhfleft's first ever Di Bradini campaign left a good impression on Kasper Molak, and he immediately promoted her to the senior team in place of Tamika Keenings, who retired from international football soon after the conclusion of DBC 31. The half-Korean midfielder is one of the taller players on the starting eleven in comparison to the likes of Bella Maynard and Jordana Valentine. She is definitely the one with the most stamina, as her distance-covered graphics in many league, cup and national games shows how much energy she has in her lithe body. Also, she's scored a disproportionate amount of headers and volleys for someone who's supposed to be patrolling the pitch in front of the defense. After some time playing for Ladies' Third Division side Tefel Ladies, she was picked up by Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies for NS$10.5m.

RW: Lillian PRESCOTT 31 y/o, Riuwiee United Women Image (#7)
Lilly is the stronger half of Abanhfleft's main winger pairing, complimenting and contrasting Addie Singh's pace with her rock-solid presence. Her hold-up play and ball control skills have made her an indispensable part of all the teams that she's played for in her career, from Riuwiee State University to Admiral Porcusces Ladies to her new club Riuwiee United Women, who signed her from the Admirals for NS$9.6m as part of the club's new initiative to emulate the men's team in terms of success on the pitch. It was obvious that the decision to make her a first-team player for the national team was a no-brainer, although she did struggle to find her rhythm until her old teammates from Riuwiee State also received international call-ups, especially her wing partner Addie. With the two of them on the wings, Abanhfleft has attacking danger everywhere on the pitch.

LW: Adelaide SINGH 31 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies Image (#8)
Addie is the pacier half of Abanhfleft's main winger pairing, and one might remember that she was already a member of Riuwiee State University's track and field program as a sprinter before joining her friends in the university's football team. A wise choice, both for her and for Riuwiee State, it turned out, as she was instrumental to leading the university to their first (and to date only) Riuwiee Provincial Football Association Challenge Cup. She was signed by Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies as soon as she graduated and went pro, and her background as a sprinter made her one of the fastest players of the team, if not the Ladies' Premier League itself. She also has good crossing ability, and she has the confidence and finishing to go one-on-one on the keeper if need be.

CAM: Allison TORRES 31 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Ladies Image (#10)
Sonny started off as a central attacking midfielder during her Riuwiee State University days, but her tendency to go forward and mingle with the dedicated forwards has seen her develop into a false nine under Xemlice Rovers' old gaffer George Westing. Her ball distribution skills, also developed under the same manager, have allowed her to become both an attacking threat up front and a vital link-up cog in the middle. Last year, she was snapped up by Sporting Ceneisis Ladies for NS$50m, making her the most expensive female Fleftic football player ever. However, as with many other big money signings by Ceneisis, it took her nearly half a season before she managed to establish a good tandem with her striker partner and fellow new signing by Ceneisis, Svenja Volksson of Armeia. For the national team, Sonny is a credible goalscoring threat, and her forward forays have allowed her to score her fair share of goals.

CF: Chelsea STUART 31 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies Image (#9), captain
Chelsea has become the face of both Arsenal Ladies and the Fleftic women's football team. Once she scored that hat-trick against Riuwiee United's U-21s that paved the way for Riuwiee State University's comeback victory and their first and only Riuwiee Provincial FA Cup, the goalscoring floodgates have opened up for her for both club and country. She has already gone five seasons scoring twenty goals or more in the Ladies' Premier League, winning the Golden Boot in three of those five seasons. Her hold-up play is simply world-class, and she can score from anywhere on the field, sometimes at will. Her only weakness is that she's a little timid when it comes to going forward, and that she is easily frustrated if she doesn't score from an easy chance. She's the new captain of the side as part of Holly Jonasson's new-look team project.

CF: Alexandra ROUSSEAU 31 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image (#11)
The height difference between Alex and Chelsea Stuart may be small (just about half an inch or so) but it's enough to make her into the smaller and speedier half of Abanhfleft's forward pairing, even though she's about a few pounds heavier than Chelsea (but don't tell her that). She doesn't accelerate as quickly as other "pacy" forwards, but once she gets going, she goes, and fast. Addie Singh and Lea Choi may be the only ones who could claim to be faster than Alex when she's at full speed, but sometimes a turtle can seem faster when she's "revving up". She can play as lone striker if need be, and indeed played that role for Rosenpfelblatz before the emergence of Karen Villegas, but she truly works best with a strike partner, especially a ridiculously strong (for her build) and physical hold-up expert like Chelsea. Following her revelation that she has been diagnosed with lupus, Alex has been forced onto the Lady Revolutionaries' bench so that she doesn't end up dying on Holly Jonasson's watch.

RESERVES
GK: Victoria CARTER 36 y/o, Xemlice Rovers Ladies Image (#1)
Vicky is the ever-dependable skipper of the Lady Revolutionaries, or at least she used to be before Holly Jonasson decided to give the captain's armband to Chelsea Stuart. She is genuinely proving herself to being a world-class keeper, and her saves during World Cup 72 qualifying almost allowed Abanhfleft to advance to the World Cup proper that year, and only a slump of form in the second half of the qualifiers prevented the team from achieving that goal. She does tend to have a temper which is bound to flare up if she or the whole team is frustrated, as evidenced by her slap at the Sameban captain during said qualifiers. Overall, though, while she may not be the most acrobatic or sensational of keepers to watch, the fact that she is still between the sticks for Abanhfleft means that she's got quality. World-class quality, even.

GK: Stephanie BRYAN 28 y/o, Antslinngs Islands Ladies Image (#23)
Stephanie Bryan finally gets to represent the blue, orange, and green once again after over four years of sitting out due to a new reliance on the likes of Yannie Redborne and Yelena Valinovskaya to ride the bench while Victoria Carter is on form, but with Redborne now retiring from international footie and Valinovskaya recovering from ligament repair surgery, Steph will now get the chance to be seen riding the Fleftic bench once again. But whether she will be the long-term replacement for Carter and the rest is still up in the air as there are more promising keepers out there, at least according to Holly Jonasson.

RB: Amanda WARREN 30 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies Image (#14)
Amanda is definitely one of the surprise packages of the women's national team's first foray in the World Cup qualifiers as a team. Although this wouldn't come as a surprise for followers of Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies, who know of Godric Wexler's ability to produce world-class players from his team's youth academies. Although obviously she's not yet as world class as Gooners would like people to believe, the potential is there, and regular minutes for both club and country will only help to develop her talent. She finally starts for Abanhfleft after Holly Jonasson's project to create a "new-look" women's team.

RCB: Miriam HANNIBAL 32 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Women Image (#15)
Don't let her surname fool you. While she may have the tenacity and patience of a serial killer when it comes to defending, making tackles and chasing loose balls, personally she's a relatable woman who is fun to hang around with, although only her friends are supposed to know that. She's the kind of player that opposing fans love to hate, and Fleftic football fans love it that opposing fans love to hate her. Miriam can play on all sides of the defense, but she prefers the center back position, which she plays to great effect at Marinos Thimpodopoulos Women.

LCB: Claudine SAMANIEGO 34 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image (#18)
Who knew that Raisa Korovina's retirement from international football would lead to massive changes within the Fleftic women's national football team? Korovina's retirement finally allows Holly Jonasson to implement a four-man (or should that be four-woman?) defensive line for the Lady Revolutionaries, and she has picked Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies' Claudine Samaniego to fill in for that second center back spot. Claudine is the perfect complement to the attack-minded Miriam Hannibal, staying behind and patrolling the field as the last line of defense in case of counter-attacks. Claudine is also useful when it comes to set pieces, poking home the occasional goal from a free kick or a corner when she feels like it, which admittedly isn't a lot of the time, but it's still good to know that she can contribute when need be.

LB: Tonya HEATON 34 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Women Image (#16)
Tonya is a proper left back who could probably get into the starting eleven of any other team out there, and probably even this team, if only the likes of Claire Osgood and/or Dana Valentine were not available or injured or weren't actually playing football at all. Also, she's one of the few truly ambidextrous football players in the country, which is why she could play in either full back position if something should ever happen to the likes of Dana and Claire and maybe even Amanda. Now she is indeed starting for Abanhfleft after Holly Jonasson's decision to create a new-look team with four at the back.

CM: Merida VANCE 27 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies Image (#17)
At just the tender age of 23, Merida has turned herself from a lanky and clumsy girl straight out of the academy with a future as a lower-league player into a vital piece of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies' midfield puzzle, helping the Lady Foresters to both the Ladies' Premier League title and the Women's SFA Cup in the 2014-15 season. Now, two years later, she's still vital to the team then as she is now, and she will serve as a capable backup for her teammate Bella Maynard for both the Emperor's Cup, World Cup qualifiers, and if they make it, the World Cup itself.

RW: Rachel AZUL 30 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies Image (#19)
It's not the Fleftic women's team if it doesn't have two of the most important things in the Fleftic footballing philosophy: wingers and strikers. The starting winger pairing of Addie Singh and Lilly Prescott are backed up by the winger pairing of Rachel Azul and Cecilia Johnson. Rachel is the taller and stronger half of their pairing, and while she's not as fast as Addie and her hold-up play isn't as good as Lilly's, she's still good for peppering the box with crosses for other players to head or volley into the net to close out games, and her height also makes her a threat on the set piece. Even at 26, there's still a lot of potential on tap for her, as evidenced by her move to Arsenal from the Antslinngs Islands alongside CeCe for the princely sum of NS$20m.

LW: Cecilia JOHNSON 30 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies Image (#20)
Looking at Rachel and CeCe, it's obvious to anyone who does what when they're starting. What she doesn't have in terms of height and strength, CeCe more than makes up for it with her speed, pace and wicked curving kick that, when the wind blows the right way, could result in a goal from literally nowhere. Her long legs have earned her the nickname "Giraffe Girl" even though she's not the tallest player from the Antslinngs Academy of Football or even on the national team, and it's those legs that allow her to cover so much ground in so little time. She is also the greater goalscoring threat from open play, cutting into the box and firing off shots at the net, sometimes to the point of ignoring teammates in better and more viable positions. But she can, and has done so from time to time, made the telling pass that leads to a goal.

CAM/CF: Regina MESBROS 35 y/o, Riuwiee United Women Image (#12)
"Good enough for a squad role, not good enough to start." That seems to be the general consensus about Reggie Mesbros right now. She had such a bright career ahead of her, in the days of women's football in Abanhfleft when the Mythical Five of Riuwiee State University were still in high school and had other interests. She was supposed to be the future of women's football. Instead, on the day before it was said that she was to finally receive a call-up for the national team, she got injured in a league game between Riuwiee United and West Releinthi. She never really recovered her earlier luster after that injury. The talent's still there, there's no denying that; but Reggie doesn't feel the need to show it as much as she used to anymore. And with the rise of the Mythical Five, it was inevitable that even though she may be a part of the national team, she was now only good enough for the substitutes. But she can still provide from the bench that levelheadedness that can see the squad through some tough periods in games.

FW: Karen VILLEGAS 27 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image (#21)
It's very rare for someone as short as Karen to be a football player, let alone a striker. But against all odds, not only did she become a good football player, she's also become one of the best players of her generation. Karen was a prodigy even at a very young age, but she nearly ended up not playing football twice: first, when she was shot in the neck (not fatally, thankfully) during the Holy Catholic Revolution of 2008, and second, when the expected growth spurt upon hitting puberty never actually happened. But after seeing the likes of Sonny Torres, Chelsea Stuart and Alex Rousseau succeed at the top flight of women's football in Abanhfleft, she trialled for Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies and was admitted into their academy. Eight years later, Karen is now an international player and Rousseau's striker partner at Rosenpfelblatz.

FW: Zsofia DOLAN 26 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies Image (#22)
Abanhfleft in general, and the city of Markovsky in particular, has always been a melting pot of various cultures, faiths and beliefs, and Sofie is the embodiment of that multicultural spirit. Born and raised in the majority-Russian city of Markovsky to a mixed Hungarian and Irish family, Sofie inherited the hardworking spirit of the two peoples from which she descended, and when many others would have given up and quit, Sofie continued working her way up the ranks of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies, and she broke through to the first team just in time for the Lady Foresters to achieve the Ladies' Premier League and Women's SFA Cup double. She moved to Lionesses in Armeia as part of the club's rebuilding process, after a plane crash killed most of the players of the old team, and her performances and general hard work have earned her a starting spot in the club.

STADIUMS
All football stadiums in Abanhfleft now have seats following a mandatory upgrade in 2000, but despite this ruling, many, if not all, stadiums still allow standing spectators during matches. However, in anticipation for World Cup qualifying matches, more security forces had been hired by the authorities to make sure that there are no standing spectators in such games.

NOTE: Matches will be played in the stadiums by order of enumeration, i.e. Saintland in May 26, Witty Penguins in IKEA Arena and so on.

Record attendance: 74,009 (Riuwiee United vs. Arsenal de Releinthi; October 20, 2019)
Operator: Riuwiee United
Short history: The May 26 Stadium, originally known as Raschner Lane, and later on as Riuwiee National Stadium, was built in 1886 as a cricket ground, and it served as home for two semi-pro cricket teams before it was bought by the Riuwiee Capitals football team, which will later on become Riuwiee United. After the conclusion of the Catholic Revolution of 2008, the national government bought the controlling share of Riuwiee National Stadium and renamed it the May 26 Revolution Memorial Stadium, in commemoration of the May 26 Revolution that eventually established the nation of Abanhfleft. Riuwiee United still play in the May 26 Stadium, but now it is also the chosen stadium for home games by the Fleftic national football team.

Even then, it was only after Monsanto agreed to shoulder the cost of the new stadium that it was even built, and because of this, the stadium was named Monsanto Stadium. Arsenal de Releinthi and Monsanto entered into a seven-year contract extension this year, potentially extending Monsanto's sponsorship of the club up to 2021.

APOX CUP OF HARMONY 70 SQUAD

Manager: Gavin Hughes, Aged: 53
Assistant Manager: Luxulya St. Cleer, Aged: 37
Style: -1

Spiel: The national team go into the Cup of Harmony in a good place. A first cycle back such a fourth place finish in the group, with at least one win against every other opponent, particularly impressive are the victories against second seed Ethane and top seed, and current World Champion, Vilita. Gavin Hughes brings a slightly different look squad to the Cup of Harmony than the initial first team he lined up with at the start of qualifiers. Bryton Menheniot has had the most meteoric rise, a late addition to the squad who now finds himself starting, Wizzard Mormentor not even making the team after a very poor first half of qualifying. There is genuine talent in this squad, with Alpha Gandhi, James Palmisano and Imriel Townsend the stand out names. There is also a wealth of striking talent, with Alpha the only locked in starter, with Lucan Palmisano, Ozaria Gandhi and Winston Arrowsmith the favoured personnel to join him. Lucan is nominally the starter, but expect a lot of rotation amongst the strikers as Gavin Hughes tries to find a solid strike partnership up front.

Playing Style

The Elgish national team plays with a strong emphasis on defense and a very conservative 5-4-1 Sweeper formation. In the majority of cases, the team opts to hold onto its structure when playing on defense rather than shift to adapt to the attack. The sweeper is the anchor point of the defense and ultimately who is responsible for positioning the defenders ahead of him. In the event of an opposing them attempting to strike hard and move quickly past the defensive line, it is his job to meet this threat. To prevent these situations from occurring, the defense stays back further than the average team might. The defense also rarely moves forward when Elgenstad is on the attack. The center defensive midfielder will venture fairly far forward to attempt to lock down opposing strikers and force turnovers in the attacking half of the field. The left and right midfielders do the same on their sides of the field. The center attacking mid and striker are the two true offensive players in the lineup. The striker generally stays as far up as possible even when Elgenstad is defending. The center attacking mid generally does not venture below the Elgish box in order to make himself available for attacking. Most Elgish offense comes from the counter-attack. Upon forcing a turnover, the ball will be fed to the left or right midfielder who will move the ball up the wing with the help of the center defensive midfielder. The ultimate goal is the move to ball up and in to the center attacking midfielder who will then give a cross or through ball to the striker. It is the center attacking mid's job to follow up on the striker's shots.

About the Union of Socialist Alpine Republics

History

Football is played in Prusy Krolewskie since the beginning of the 20th century. Prusy Krolewskie's first international games were in the baptism of fire 59, the Reprezentacja Pruski finished 2nd in group F and lost to Santaclausisgodistan in round of 16. In the World Cup 72 qualifications, Prusy Krolewskie finished fifth in group 5 with a 5-3-6 record. Prusy Krolewskie was then missing in action until we come back for the XI olympiads and the World Cup 76 where we finished 6th in group 6 with a 2-2-8 record. Prusy Krolewskie was invited at the Cup of Harmony and did very poorly. Then, the Reprezentacja Pruski participated in the 1st Independents Cup, for nations outside of the big three regions, but had a bad tournamant either. Prusy Krolewskie tried to qualify for the World Cup 77 and failed, but still had a pretty good run, enough to crack the top 100 in the KPB rankings and recieve an invitation to the Cup of Harmony 69. Prusy Krolewskie finished 3rd in its group with a 0-2-1 record.

In 2018, every nations in North Eurasia formed a superstate called Union of Soclialist Alpine Republics. The Alpine Union inherited Prusy Krolewskie's rank and participated in the Independents Cup II but lost all three games. The USAR tried to qualify for the World Cup 78 but finished 4th in group 8 with a 8-3-5 record, this is the best result so far for Prusy Krolewskie/USAR.

KEL ASSUK BOARD OF SPORT
National Team Selection for the 70th Cup of Harmony

The Amalen, the proud people inhabiting Kel Assuk, have a long history of competition through sport, including several native forms of wrestling, camel racing, and spear-throwing. But the Amalen have only been introduced to football fairly recently, with the 1970s and a wave of internationalization spreading through the land, and the sport has not been popular in the nation, due to the nomadic nature of the Amalen's traditional lifestyle being unable to sustain much participation in the sport, but in 2008, a fledgling league began to take off, with 6 sides from the nation's three cities, and the sport began to grow in popularity.

MANAGERIAL STAFF

MANAGER: Image Eric Desmond Desmond is a bit of a wild card manager. Young (for a manager) and ambitious, he stuck with Kings Park of Schottia for several seasons and did well with them, but a poor start last year sealed his fate and he was let go by the club. Although his lack of experience compared to other managers may be his downfall, he is flexible and adaptable; the KABS considered him the perfect candidate to manage their fledgling, underdog side.

ASSISTANT MANAGER: Image Amezwar Sellami, 38 Sellami is raw and inexperienced but energetic and eager. Currently a manager with the nation's best side, Axxuten Adel Bagrou, the KABS has appointed Sellami as an understudy and assistant manager to provide the young manager with an opportunity to study from a more experienced hand as well as an ability to give manager Desmond a perspective on the strengths and weaknesses of his players.

-----
FULL INTERNATIONAL SQUAD

Starting XI
1. GK Aksil Saidi-Sief, 21 | Image Northampton
A close second to Karim Khattabi, Saidi-Sief has strong reflexes and a good court coverage; only problem, he's not Khattabi, and as such, was relegated to second-string goalkeeper for Kel Assuk's first two international tournaments. With Khattabi's poorer performance in Spaam, and his improvement with Northampton, as well as that team's good performance in the Terranean League, have convinced Eric Desmond to promote Saidi-Sief to first string goalkeeper ahead of Khattabi.

2. RB Usem Ouyahia, 28 | Image Tamadalt IT
One of the more experienced backs in Kel Assuk, Ouyahia, left-footed, is the clear choice for right back, having been playing in the league on an amateur basis since it was founded 11 years ago. He enjoys the game, and he's motivated to work hard, too.

3. CB Ziri Neqrouz, 23 | Image FC Marandet
Neqrouz complements his partner Othmani in a couple of ways; he's left footed while Othmani is right footed and a more defensive focus as opposed to a more offensive focus; Neqrouz is quite speedy as well. This means that the centre-back pairing of the two is quite effective, as it allows the team to be more flexible when defending to achieve their aims better.

4. CB Amanar Othmani, 22 | Image Amalen Ijida
Othmani, while complementing his partner Neqrouz, also maintains excellent passing accuracy and a good rapport with the midfield, so he can move the ball up the field if it's necessary, and he's very good at keeping an eye on the field and figuring out what's going on so he can position himself in the best place. Most importantly, he has a strong relationship with his partner Neqrouz, and they help complement each other's strengths and weaknesses.

5. LB Massin Azergui, 25 | Image Tin Hinan IT Abalessa
Azergui, as a left back, has the tendency to move up to support the midfield, particularly Ait Ahmed, who plays right footed on the left like himself; nevertheless, he has proven himself to be pretty adept at the man-to-man defense proposed by manager Desmond, and his stamina allows him to make both offensive and defensive moves, giving him a modicum of versatility.

6. DM Anaruz M'Hidi, 29 | Image Armed Forces FC
M'Hidi, a former Army colonel, has the attitude, and presence, of an army veteran; of the national team, he has the highest stamina and physical fitness. That's why he's a good fit for the defensive midfield position, which requires him to move quite a bit around the pitch, holding up the midfield from any stray attacking runs.

7. CM Mohammed Hasnaoui, 26 | Image Armed Forces FC
Hasnaoui is a credible backup to Ait Ahmed, but his partnership with M'Hidi at Armed Forces has really blossomed; when he's not heading into the attack as a semi-playmaker, most often acting to get the ball to Ait Ahmed or Khalej, he's working to patrol the defense with M'Hidi, giving the defensive lineup a bit more bulk.

8. CM Seyni Ait Ahmed (C), 27 | Image Burnton 1963
Ait Ahmed is the key to the entire strategy of the national team; he is the center distributor and playmaker of the team, and he holds the team together in the midfield. He has a natural talent; on the mental side, some steely composure and a good wit, as well as a good story or two for when the team is traveling or in downtime.

9. AM Saden Khalej, 19 | Image Longtails
Khalej is a hot prospect, recognized by all who know him as a potential superstar. The only problem is, Kel Assuk is probably not the best place for him to develop as a player. He has typical characteristics of a star attacking midfielder: good passing, dribbling, and shooting all around, except that he needs a lot of development. To that end, he moved to the Cenian side Longtails, which he could hope to facilitate some improvement.

10. RW Ashur Ben Hassi, 20 | Image 1860 Azoth
Ashur Ben Hassi recently moved to 1860 Azoth, and that club has really sharpened his attacking skills; those skills showed during the 3rd-place campaign in the recent Baptism of Fire, as manager Desmond has increasingly relied on Ben Hassi to finish off balls. He really does have the skills to finish off balls, especially on set pieces such as corner kicks and off passes into the penalty area. With these improved skills, Desmond has promoted Ben Hassi to starter in order to help the team's attacking potential.

11. LW Isula Azellay, 19 | Image Northampton
Azellay's move to Northampton has helped to improve his attacking skills, and especially his drive up the wings to get balls to his strike partner Ben Hassi. This partnership has been extremely effective in the Baptism of Fire, as Azellay has been able to hit over 90% of his passes to Ben Hassi from a good position on the wings, creating opportunities to allow Ben Hassi to finish off things. He's also worked well with Saden Khalej, and this young attacking trio has proven very capable of getting balls into the goal.

Substitutes & Reserves
12. GK Karim Khattabi, 31 | Image Axxuten Adel Bagrou
Khattabi is solid, if not spectacular, as a goalkeeper, reliable and consistent. However, his reflexes aren't what they used to be, and they were never like those of August Ozuna or Eliot Horn to begin with.
13. RB Anir Selmi, 25 | Image Amalen Ijida
14. CB Talharqa Zbiri, 29 | Image Armed Forces FC
15. CB Igider Bahari, 31 | Image Amalen Ijida
16. RB Marin Adhoui, 30 | Image FC Marandet
17. DM Anaruz Taher, 26 | Image Armed Forces FC
18. CM Mahmoud Salek, 24 | Image Tin Hinan IT Abalessa
19. CM Badis Al-Ouaer, 22 | Image Tin Hinan IT Abalessa
20. AM Ali Bakoura, 23 | Image Tamadalt IT
21. ST Tariq Arazi, 22 | Image Tamadalt IT
Arazi's best aspects are his longer-distance shots and his passing; that makes him the better of Kel Assuk's two strikers, and often the initiator of 1-2 moves with his strike partner Feraoun. His stamina is also pretty good, which allows him to go through defenses and create openings for Feraoun and Khalej to get in and score.
22. ST Omar Feraoun, 23 | Image FC Marandet
Feraoun has a play-finishing instinct, an ability to be in the right place at the right time to just get the ball in the goal. He's an effective punch in the 1-2 play or the 3-man play, with Arazi, Khalej, or Ait Ahmed as the play starters; however, his passing and dribbling could be improved for a more effective striker.
23. GK Menna Trabelsi, 28 | Image Tin Hinan IT Abalessa

-----
FORMATION AND TACTICS

Style: +2.5
Formation: 4-3-1-2

Image

Generally, Kel Assuk plays with a slightly attacking formation, with Ait Ahmed and Khalej being the main conduits and attackers for the attacking drives, while Ben Hassi and Azellay often help to finish off the ball into the net with their one-two strike partnership, often from the wings. Defensively, the team tends to play man-to-man defense to help lock down on defensive errors.

Cenian National Team - Cup of Harmony 70

Football History
Football in Ceni has only recently began to take off in popularity. Even though football has been present in Ceni for a good majority of the time that it has been settled, other sports, mainly tennis, badminton, and squash, held precedence in Cenian sporting life. For the most part, society gave football barely a passing glance as Ceni built its dominance in tennis. As the popularity of football grew in the last decade, however, pressure grew for the Cenian government to create a national team and send it to compete with the world's best. First, however, it would play in the 54th Baptism of Fire against other nations new to international football. In what was perhaps an ill omen for the rest of Ceni's international football campaigns, the Sarian, later to reach the final, crushed Ceni. In the group stage, Ceni barely managed one win before qualifying for the playoffs on goal difference, where they defeated Bonny in only their second win of the tournament, winning the opportunity to face eventual champion Buyan in the Round of 16. Although Ceni played valiantly, Buyan won, 1-0, in a not-surprising scoreline.

After its poor showing in the Baptism of Fire, Ceni embarked on its first World Cup qualification campaign. Not many people payed attention, and the team, led by Pablito Numede, managed to scrape up a few points before going home in ignominy. If one could say that Ceni's first qualification campaign was a three-year-old's small beach bucket, Ceni's second campaign barely made a drop in that bucket. The short description: nobody really cared. Sure, maybe some people were disappointed by the team's quite awful performance, but the general populace shrugged. In World Cup 69, Ceni finally started caring about its World Cup qualification prospects. Unsurprisingly, they weren't good. Although Ceni did manage to secure draws against Felix and Chiata, and a win against the then-twenty-ninth-ranked Super-Llamaland, it was not enough to make even a small dent in the large wall separating Ceni from World Cup qualification. In World Cup 70, Ceni had a real chance at qualifying. Despite falling 2-9 down to Audioslavia, Ceni notched a win against the second seed Neu Engollon to get a chance to defeat Electrum in a last-match day decider at home. Apparently the gods of fate were not smiling on the Cenian team, for the team fell by one goal, ending hopes of a playoff spot and World Cup qualification. Ceni's prospects had come so close, yet they were as far away as ever. At the Cup of Harmony, Ceni defeated Neu Engollon again, and shockingly defeated world number 9 and eventual champion Turori, ending a losing slide against the top 10. However, Ceni could not end its losing slide against Electrum, whom they faced in the Round of 16, losing for the third time in a row.

Ceni came back yet again for World Cup 71. It started disappointingly, with a loss to Zenic and a draw to the hitherto-unknown Octinstine courtesy of an Alliance for Cenian Future ploy. After that, Ceni won against second seed Barunia. On paper, the second half of qualification should have been good enough: four wins, one against top seed Blouman Empire, and three draws. Unfortunately, the draws were against Zenic at home and against the minnow Aynard, ranked in the three hundreds, and they sealed Ceni's doom. Soothsayers and gamblers who bet on Ceni's failure were the only ones celebrating. Without the disappointing draws to the bottom of the group, Ceni would have made the playoff spot; with five more points against Zenic, Ceni would have qualified outright. Alas, the gods of fate had conspired against Ceni once again, and Ceni would move to the Cup of Harmony at home. It performed decently. Despite draws to Kazamatsuri and Matthewsiana in the group stage, Ceni managed to advance to the Round of 16, where it defeated Darvale to reach the quarterfinals and Mizuyuki on penalties to reach the semifinals. It lost to Valanora, hardly surprising, and Saintland in the third place match, but Ceni finally had made somewhat of a mark in international football. It felt it was ready to qualify.

However, the dream did not come to fruition. In World Cup 72 qualification, the team lost to Barunia, a team it had beaten in World Cup 71, on the first match day and drew the 279th ranked Welcomzia. It then lost to the successor of Mizuyuki, Kirisaki, and drew with the 100th ranked side Vermark. Ceni's losses and disappointments kept coming, losing to minnows Emperor Pudu and Atrua. While the draws against Aynard and Octinstine were disturbing at best and heartbreaking at worst, Cenian supporters were crushed by their spell of bad luck during World Cup 72. A target for their fury was manager Osman Ibarra, who was sacked by the Cenian Football Federation, and replaced by Kirk Koromin, father of star Kel Koromin and manager of Tir Snake Strike, Ceni's best club. The switch seemed to have improved morale by a bit, as the team got revenge on Welcomzia, Vermark, and Atrua (all by the score of 3-2) and drew Kirisaki. However, it was not enough, as the pesky Emperor Pudu managed to defeat Ceni, and Ceni did not qualify, with a low take of 18 points. Surprisingly, however, Ceni improved one spot in the rankings, to forty-fourth. At this seemingly happy news, however, Cenian officials rued that they could have advanced into the top 40 with a better performance. It came to the Cup of Harmony facing an identity crisis and a crisis of leadership. However, its Cup of Harmony - a let's see our problems run for new coach Kirk Koromin - did not work out so well, with a loss to Barunia in the Group Stage as well as a heartbreaking penalty kick defeat to Chiata in the Round of 16. Ceni came to the World Cup cautiously optimistic and hoped that it would finally qualify on its seventh attempt.

Finally Ceni achieved their goal in World Cup 73 on their seventh attempt. Led by Jaime del Olmo and Kel Koromin, the team once again fell to the Opening Match Curse, suffering a defeat to Matthewsiania away, but rebounded after that, only losing once thereafter. Among notable games were the 6-6 draw with Free Republics and the 2-1 win away against HopNation. The World Cup also marked the debut of manager Kirk Koromin in World Cup qualifiers and the Cenial Halcyon National Stadium, at which the national team has never lost. The team was second in their group and drew Gregoryisgodistan, which they beat on a penalty shootout at home with a maxed-out crowd of cheering fans. Finally Ceni had made it to the World Cup, where they lost to regional rivals Eura and Cosumar before beating (guess who) Free Republics for their first ever World Cup win on their first try. Ceni directly qualified for World Cup 74, winning its group, including two wins over top seed Northern Sunrise Islands. They entered the World Cup hopeful, drawing with Apox before losing to hosts San Jose Guayabal. They were confident against Gregoryisgodistan, with a place in the round of 16 on the line. They knew they could win the match - yet they managed to lose somehow, one to nil, denying them a chance in the second round and disappointing many. In World Cup 75, the qualifiers went through in a breeze, with the team going 13-1-0 in their best qualifying run in their history. In the World Cup Finals, however, they could not break their streak of group stage finishes, drawing with Barunia 0-0 and with Pasarga 2-2 but disappointingly drawing 0-0 with Ficiscia to deny them a spot in the knockout rounds yet again. In World Cup 76, the team was hoping to finally go deep in the World Cup, and they reached their first knockout round in the team's history, after defeating bogeyman Ficiscia 5-2 and World Cup veteran Osarius 3-2. In the octofinals, they defeated #2 seed Valladares 5-2 before proceeding to lose 4-1 to San Jose Guayabal in the quarterfinals. Although it was a disappointing finish, at least the team managed their best World Cup performance ever, and they were hoping to capitalize on that performance in San Jose Guayabal and Quebec. However, they were not able to; although they rampaged through their qualifying group, in their World Cup group stage, they choked to Anglatia and therefore failed to advance. They will therefore be hoping to qualify for only their second World Cup knockout round ever...

However, they did not even qualify for the World Cup itself after squandering a 6-point lead in the first half of qualifiers by drawing with (and losing to) a succession of lower-ranked teams before a draw with Turori basically sealed their fate. They enter the Cup of Harmony knowing they will be the tournament's second seed, and hoping they can win it all to make up for their failure in the World Cup...

About Ceni
Ceni is a small island country of around 5500 km2 located in the eastern parts of the Rushmori region of Terranea. Although it has no land borders, the nearest countries are Electrum, from which it is separated in the west by a narrow strait, and the Isles of Avon, a small republic located to the east in the same island chain. With a population of just over 13 million, this makes Ceni one of the densest countries in Rushmore, at around 2360 people per sq km. Ceni is also one of the most urbanized countries in Rushmore, with the three major cities, Cenial, the capital, City Centre, and New Oxford, forming one large urban agglomeration, with the city petering out around the edges of the metropolis. Climate-wise, Ceni has a temperate oceanic climate, with the influence of the ocean helping to moderate both the summers and the winters - temperatures are almost never extreme either way, cold or hot.

Historically, Ceni was first settled by a group of people, ancestors of the Fererldan, who spoke a language, Ancient Cenian, that is almost extinct except for a few speakers (but it survives in many Cenian names, both surnames and given names), which is related to modern day Avaerilonian (the prevailing theory suggests that these people migrated from an area in New Gelderland, across a land bridge to Ceni, and then across to Avaerilon, where they settled later in time). The name Ceni itself comes from a corruption of an Ancient Cenian word for 'White Cliffs', which described the cliffs near the present day Dover. These people stayed in the area around Cenial for a while until a group of settlers from Eura arrived and settled in the southern half of Ceni, displacing some of these populations. A Spanish population from Valladares arrived and set up a colony in the north of Ceni, hoping to set up a port for the growing nation, but when the city of Junin was settled, these settlers were disappointed, nonetheless deciding to stay and send seafood to the Valladar communities as well as lobbying the government to set up a port in the north. These communities formed the backbone of a thriving Hispanic population in Ceni.

In the face of a rising Euran threat, these various colonies - the Fereldic population, the Spanish in the North, and Euran/Cenian mix in the South - decided to unify their solitary island in order to coordinate their defenses and reduce infighting. As the Euran threat died down, the Cenian government retooled its economy to provide services and goods to the growing Euran industrial economy while still remaining a bit on edge. As the economy bloomed, a group of Avaerilonian refugees settled in Ceni after escaping one of that country's long wars, establishing a Cenian tradition. These refugees contributed to Ceni's rising high-tech and service economy as the country moved into the 21st century.

Ceni's government is a parliamentary system with a one-chambered parliament, the Cenian Assembly, which has 225 representatives in it; the Prime Minister is the head of government, while a ceremonial President is the head of state. More locally, Ceni is divided into 14 districts, which serve to administer most of the government's services to the people and giving them local control, with a Chief Minister heading the government in each district; most districts have a District Council of either 7 or 9 councilpersons, headed by the Chief Minister. The Cenian people love their elections, with more than 80% turnout most times. Economically, Ceni has a large financial sector along with large pharmaceutical, high-tech, education, real estate sectors, and renewable energy sector. Ceni has a large GDP due to its proximity to Eura and the Euran economy and also a large GDP per capita, one of the largest in the region. Cenians enjoy a high standard of living as well as a large social welfare net and free education, courtesy of a Scandinavian-style liberal government.

<Schottia> I always think of Ceni as what it would be like if Long Island was its own nation, ran by Bernie Sanders lol.
