Games of the XII Olympiad
Hosted by Novonaya, Kelssek and Provinsk, Vekaiyu

Navigation and Relevant Links

List of delegations and rosters
To be updated when applicable

Roleplay Guidelines
RP bonus will be assigned based on creativity and effort. The two hosts will independently score RPs for each cutoff period, with the average being the bonus for that IC “day”. The actual bonus applied will be 50-50 between the day’s bonus and the bonus accumulated over the entire Olympics. Or in other words, (RP bonus for the day + cumulative RP bonus for the Olympics) / 2. Hosts will not be required to inform any nations on their RP score, grading habits, etc.

Only host nations and nations with accepted signups may post in this thread. Nations may post multiple RP's for any given IC "day", but please advise that one very good roleplay may not equate to two mediocre ones. Stated earlier, hosts are looking for creativity and effort.

Storylines involving mass violence, terrorist attacks, military actions and other acts which would violate the host nations’ sovereignty and/or laws must be discussed with and explicitly approved by both hosts. Always discuss and obtain consent for RPs which negatively affect other participants, and avoid events which “force” responses or would be unrealistic for third parties to ignore. The hosts reserve the right to set a user’s RP bonus to zero for violations of RP etiquette. This will be announced if such infractions occur.

Cutoff Time
Expect cutoff times to occur around 21:30 UTC / GMT daily. It could be sooner, it could be later, but we expect to fall near that mark. OOC posts in the RP thread regarding cutoff time complaints are prohibited. Scores may take several hours to be posted.

The Olympic guide to Novonaya
Venues
Central Novonaya:
Howes Park - BMX, golf, rowing, canoeing
Olympic Velodrome - track cycling
Novonaya Arena - gymnastics, table tennis, badminton
Novonaya Riverfront Expo - fencing, weightlifting, wrestling

University of Novonaya campus:
Griffin Park Stadium - athletics, modern pentathlon, closing ceremony
University Sports Pavilion - judo, taekwondo, volleyball (indoor)
Prestwick Field House - tennis
University Tennis Centre - tennis
The Olympic Village will be located adjacent to the university campus, and is slated to be converted to student dormitories and apartment housing after the Olympics. The Village is a 5-minute ride on the NET to the inner-city venues.

Catfields Park - archery, road cycling, equestrian, shooting
Olympic Whitewater Centre - canoe slalom

Outside Novonaya:
Tenguska National Park of Lupinissia - sailing (70 minutes by road, or intercity train from Novonaya Stalbund station). The competition will take place on the Great Cariboo Lake, with a facility constructed on the south shore. It is adjacent to the ferry terminal connecting Lupinissia to the city of Arvika on the north shore of the lake; from here Arvika is also a sightseeing option with the ferry crossing taking 2.5 hours accepting both car and walk-on passengers. The facility will become a recreational sailing facility and park visitor centre after the Olympics. Tenguska itself is a common outdoors destination for hiking and canoe-camping.

Districts and stuff to do
Howes Park: Sprawling green space along the Bilant river banks
Dogeport: Brewpubs, organic co-ops and independent bookstores. Bring a growler.
Eastfork: Raves in abandoned warehouses, U of N students, hipsters who dismiss Dogeport as gentrified.
Prairielands Park: re-creations of Vanardian encampments, music and horse archery performances, log flume ride
Novonaya Gallery: art!
Old Town: cobblestone streets, historic buildings, beer gardens.

Getting there
Novonaya International Airport (NYA) is located 12 km from downtown, about a 15-minute drive. For public transportation to downtown, the airport has its own NET light rail station. It is served by Kelssek's major airlines Air Kelssek, Kelssek Pacific, and Kelssekian Express, as well as the smaller budget carrier Lupinissia Airlines. Other than chartered flights, international visitors will usually connect through one of the country's major airport hubs: Kirkenes Malton, Burnaby International, Outineau Mirabelle. Another option is to fly to Ulyanōf, the provincial capital, and take the Velocit bullet train to Novonaya.

Novonaya and Provinsk are connected by the Velocit Yasteria line and increased service will be run during the Olympics. The travel time is 6 hours and 48 minutes - the sleeper service offers a comfortable overnight option which probably costs the same as a hotel room anyway. The direct flight time is 3 hours.

Money
Kelssek's currency is the thaler, written as τ (lowercase Greek letter tau) or t, which is divided into 100 pence (d). The exchange rate is roughly 1 USD = 35d, or τ1 = USD 2.86. It comes in coins of 1d, 5d, 10d, 25d, τ1 and τ2, and notes of τ5, τ10, τ20, τ50 and τ100. Foreign credit cards are accepted and will work in major bank ATMs. Because of the merchant fees card issuers charge, businesses often impose a τ5-10 mininum to accept a card.

Pint of beer in the Old Town: τ2
Late night kebab: τ3.20
Dinner and drinks for two at an upscale restaurant: τ30-40 (tipping is not customary in Kelssek)
Souvenir stuffed beaver: τ6.99
One night in a backpacker hostel: τ10
Average 2-bedroom rental, Dogeport: τ330/month

Culture and social norms
Kelssek is an egalitarian and easygoing society in general, but especially in the West. Novonayans are very chummy and friendly to strangers in a way that can freak out big city folk from "out east", and they have even less of a sense of social hierarchy. The city is on the more down-to-earth and laid-back side of things; more DIY and artsy and less fashion-conscious than, say, Kirkenes or Outineau.

Laws and policing
The Novonaya Police Service has jurisdiction over all areas within the city's border. During the Olympics, officers of the federal police force, the Commonwealth Mounted Police (CMP), will also patrol the Village and facilities to assist the NPS with security.

The legal age to purchase alcohol, tobacco, and other recreational substances is 18. The possession and consumption of all recreational drugs are legal, but their sale and production must be licenced; you are not breaking any laws by having a meth lab, but you are if you make and/or sell meth without a licence, but why would you when you can get it from a middle-aged clerk behind the counter of the government dispensary whose professional manner barely hides their judgment of your life choices.

Firearms are heavily restricted in Kelssek; the average citizen can apply for a licence to own hunting rifles if they want, and a handgun if demonstrably necessary for their work, but otherwise guns are basically illegal. Competitors will, of course, be provided with special licences and exemptions as is appropriate. Because this has specifically been asked about, there's no particular law about burning flags, although it is subject to the same rules as the burning of pretty much anything else.

Emergency number for police, fire or ambulance: 112.

The Vekaiyun Nation Welcomes You

Helpful Links (generally NSwiki articles)

About the (Other) City
Image

Provinsk is the largest city in Vekaiyu, located in the far eastern corner of the nation. Listonian-like farmland is to the east, the ancient Uliveru Mountains are to the south, several forested vales and more farming is to the north, and a few provinces west lies the dense forested area known as The Levinasi. The city has traced its roots to ancient times, where it was an important trading route juxtaposed between several large empires and favorably placed almost in the center of the large Yasterian continent. Consequently, the city was coveted by foreign entities, and several wars and a few bouts of independence litter the colorful past of the now firmly-Vekaiyun metropolis. Roughly ninety years ago, the polymer industry boomed in Provinsk, and hence the city has been a hub of polymeric research and production. The air may have a faint resin smell during particularly hot days, but this is not toxic.

Residents of Provinsk are referred to as "Provinskis". This has no real-world implications; rather, the denigration just happens to roll off the tongue. Speaking of tongues, Provinsk is an Unonian city and Provinskis speak Unonian. However, the city is now officially recognized as a bilingual city, much to the chagrin of opponents. In addition, its denizens are by and large followers of Vayan Catholicism and are urged to pray at prescribed intervals throughout the day.

Several posts from relevant, translated newspapers will shed more information on the actual culture of Provinsk and the people therein.

Currency
Vekaiyuns use Veskonos. The bills are made of a special polymer that protect against counterfeiting, and have a melt temperature high enough so that the bills don't get soggy in the wash. Ekvus are the coin currency, where one hundred ekvus equals one veskono. Ekvus have holes in them to allow an individual to store their coins on a rope if they prefer.

The exchange rate is, at current, $1 USD = ℣1.26 VSK. Currency exchanges exist near the border and at important transportation hubs (Yasterian Highway System terminals, Provinsk Interational Airport, etc)

The Venues

Aquatics (Swimming, diving, water polo): The Aquatic Arenas

Vekaiyu is home to hundreds of aquatic arenas. These buildings are designed to accommodate the various aquatic sports in Vekaiyu. Arenas exist for several sporting skill levels, with some even open to the public serving as a natatorium when not in use for competition. Arenas for major-league competition can hold anywhere from ten to forty thousand people. A large game clock and scoreboard is present in every arena and can be seen by players and spectators alike. In the center of each arena is a large, deep swimming pool which is often raised above ground so that spectators may see the action from a "below ground" perspective through a lexan-walled pool, all without worrying about getting wet. Above the arena exists a second level, containing "dugouts" and hot tubs where players, swimmers, or divers sit and relax, penalty boxes, and more seating for those who prefer to watch the game from an "above ground" perspective. It is widely accepted that below ground seating offers much more view to the action for underwater hockey and underwater rugby, which is why these seats are more expensive for such events. Swimming, diving, and water polo are more "above ground" perspective sports and therefore the "below ground" perspective seats are much cheaper. At any given stadium, Vekaiyun food and beverages can be served, as well as various souvenirs supporting the local clubs or the city in general. Noise levels in older arenas can be a problem, however.

Provinsk Staso Vilistruyave (Provinsk Sport Natatorium)
Image
  • Location: Southern end of Provinsk, Access to Subway Station K-4.
  • Capacity: 24,200 (4,000 seats added last year in anticipation of bid)
  • Year built: 2010
  • Chlorine smell index: low
  • Price of a nice malt beer: ℣4.40
  • Times the Vekaiyun National Anthem, Eternal Vekaiyu, has been sung: 2,191
  • Price of an "authentic" Vekaiyun Speed Swimsuit (located in the team shop): ℣795 (note: Vulpine sizes run small, humans start with two sizes up from their normal ordering size)

Islasi Rostrovistre Sen Provinsk (The Water Palace of Provinsk)
Image
  • Location: Northeast Provinsk Downtown, Access to Subway Station Ia-12
  • Capacity: 25,500
  • Year built: 2013 (Built for the failed Olympic bid at the time)
  • Water sloshiness factor (WSF): 3 (medium)
  • Price of a warm bowl of kikale (fast-food style): ℣5.75 (humans: ask for 'bland' kikale, unless you like food laden in spices)
  • Arena Ranking (by Vekaiyun Mermaid Performers): #3 (of 164 "pooled")
  • Price of a silly little plush mascot: ℣15.75

Note that Underwater Hockey and Water Polo matches will be held around the nation.

Boxing: The Hall of Kevlar
Kevlar ses Istastki (The Hall of Kevlar) is a historic boxing arena that has been in operation since 1922. The hall is musty and has an odd, old smell to it that is likely due to the shellac used on the wooden chairs and wooden walls (since refinished with polyurethane lacquer), but it could just be due to the fact that it's an old gym. The seats are rather small, and the stadium has rather poor acoustics and can get noisy at times. Despite this, the Vekaiyun National Olympic Council (VNOC) selected this arena due to historical implications.

Kevlar ses Istastki (The Hall of Kevlar)
Image
  • Location: Eastern Provinsk Downtown, Access to Subway Station Ia-3
  • Capacity: 22,284
  • Year built: 1922
  • Times a boxer's nose had to be re-set using Popsicle sticks: 58
  • Amount of Kevlar present in the Hall of Kevlar: about half a pound, probably.
  • Price of a pair of reproduction historical vulpine boxing gloves: ℣22.80

Football, Rugby Sevens, Field Hockey: Yemestrovi Field
Yemestrovi Revetraveru (Yemestrovi Field) is known for excellent sight lines and relatively large pitch, which allow it to also be used for concerts and other gatherings. Colors of red and gold transparent plastic will adorn the exterior of the building and are being carefully molded into single-piece elements with appropriate amounts of UV-stabilizers and clarifying agents. The stadium will also be used for the Opening Ceremonies.

Yemestrovi Revetraveru (Yemestrovi Field)

  • Location: Right on the Eruli River, north of downtown, Access to Subway Stations Ia-41 and N-18
  • Capacity: 72,000
  • Year built: 2001
  • Biggest Concert: Sen Remiru (a jazzy upbeat band)
  • Appearances by Premier Ikrisia Levinile: 2 (soon to be 3)
  • Price of a random Vekaiyun kit shirt: ℣28.20

Basketball, Handball: Kastruviyey Arena
Seprovilu Kastruviyey (Kastruviyey Arena) is mostly used for gymnastics instead of basketball. Nevertheless, that won't stop Provinskis from utilizing its capabilities. The arena is a relatively new, clean arena, and, like the Hall of Kevlar, is a smoking-friendly facility.

Seprovilu Kastruviyey (Kastruviyey Arena)
Image
  • Location: East Provinsk, Access to Subway Station U-4
  • Capacity: 24,800
  • Year built: 1999
  • Number of basketballs stuck in the rafters: 1
  • Number of leotards stuck in the rafters: 0
  • Size of Vekaiyun Flag hanging proudly from the rafters: 12' x 18'
  • Price of a standard Eskola soda pop: ℣3.00

Note that Football matches will be held around the nation.

BREAKING: Co-Bid for Novonaya and Provinsk Accepted!
An evening special edition for Provinsk Outpost - Codexian Language Version. Click here for Unonian Language Version

Vanyo Ilastrovi, reporting - For the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, a classified non-human nation with an official language different than Codexian will host an Olympiad. They are joined by Kelssek, a nation well-versed in hosting and seasoned with the ins and outs of handling the melange of cultures gracing their soil for roughly one month. While there is certainly time to celebrate responsibly, there is of course the important and perhaps difficult task of readying an entire nation for an important responsibility. Simply put, are they up to the task?

Humiliation, then Vindication

Vekaiyu has made strong strides since the days of Max Venavle. The nation is open and receptive toward other cultures. Their war with Dveria was expected to showcase old grudges against an ancient enemy, yet the nation, guided in part by Premier Ikrisia Levinile, demonstrated they desire to end conflict rather than rehash destructive tendencies. As for the host city, The Vekaiyun National Olympic Council (VOC) couldn't have picked a better city to co-host than Provinsk, as the city's athletic venues and bilingual programs were implemented after their first bid some four years prior. But it's more than that. It's vindication.

Rewind to the Spring of 2013. Vekaiyu was coming off an impressive 3rd place showing in Krytenia and seemed poised for another strong showing next year. The Vekaiyun Olympic Council (VOC), headed by Verenyi Lemestrovyey, who replaced Riyna Yovisktre following the death of athlete Vinsent Oblervi one year earlier, motivated the council to submit a (rushed) bid for the Eighth Summer Olympics. The selected host city, Provinsk, was touted as "a city more willing to cater to such a challenge" when it came to the Olympics. Venues were selected and, in some cases, renovated in order to sweeten the deal. Among such renovations was the Hall of Kevlar, a large venue built in 1928 in order to stage indoor boxing matches. Taken from the text, "even today blue-collard Vekaiyuns will pack into the building, sit on the wood and metal seats, and scream into the cavernous building as opponents beat the tar out of each other." What the text failed to mention is that even during the writing of the bid the building was not fit for international showing. It wouldn't be until May of 2014 that renovations would be completed, renovations which included repairing some 2500 seats, bringing mats up to new international safety codes, and installing handicapped-accessible entries. The "gel-boxed" Camari Aquatic Arena was selected for all aquatic events, mostly because the innovative and artistically-stunning Islasi Rostrovistre Sen Provinsk (The Water Palace of Provinsk) would not be ready for the bid. It was zealous, it was daunting, and it was a mistake that would eventually cost Lemestrovyey his job, especially after Vekaiyu recieved zero of the 34 cast votes, to which Lemestrovyey remarked, "[We] cannot in the clearest of conscience cast a vote for Provinsk when we are called to vote for the best available option."

Go out in fashionable style! Only at Yestroviyey's
The Vekaiyun people were humiliated. Perhaps they felt as if they had spent several rounds in the Hall of Kevlar. Regardless, the people emerged with a bloodied nose and a cauliflower ear, but their spirits were not dimmed. Orean went on to host a successful Eighth Summer Games, and Vekaiyu again emerged as a top-five nation, thankfully taking the collective minds of the people away from the drama prior to the start of the games. As a matter of fact, Vekaiyu continued their consistent display at the Olympics through the Tenth Games, finishing in the top 5 for the fourth consecutive summer games.

Provinsk recovered from the black eye sustained by their own countrymen and the Olympic faithful with their inclusion in the Water Polo Tournament - a well-regarded success story to begin the XI Summer Olympiad. Based on conservative estimates provided by the Vekaiyun Bureau of Tourism, some 224,000 fans traversed to-and-from Vekaiyu over the course of the qualifications - a success by any predictions prior to the qualifications. But will this result in more interest in the nation, more opportunities for the nation to showcase itself to the international world and, perhaps just as important, more of a push to see Vekaiyu in more than just Olympic competition abroad?

"I think I can speak on behalf of all Vekaiyuns and members of the Vekaiyun Union that we would enjoy seeking more opportunities to test our skills in friendly competition," Premier of Vekaiyu Ikrisia Levinile said during the unofficial "closing ceremonies" of the qualifying events in Vekaiyu. "Whether one follows particular sports or teams carefully, or could not care less, there is a certain passion which resonates in us all. I believe it does so do to its unifying qualities. We desire to see goodness arise from it, to see communities or nations come together and at one moment witness greatness, setting aside all political and cultural differences in the process, if only for that moment. But it is a gamble. With only one championship or one medal for dozens of teams or competitors, it is designed to break our hearts, and our hearts will be broken. But through the triumphs and sorrows, it becomes an identity. It is an identity that is passed on through generations. An identity that is shared atop high rises or in alleyways. An identity that is forged through many countless moments of heartbreak and nervousness peppered with small glimpses of joy. An identity that can bring complete strangers together."

And now, Vekaiyu, a nation all too familiar with the nuances of aquatic sports, will utilize this opportunity to the best of their merits.

Can Foreign Fans Adjust to Vekaiyun (and Vulpine) Culture?

Vekaiyu seemingly passed the test during the IX Summer Olympiad Water Polo trials, but that was spaced out over four cities, and involved by all estimates a much smaller fanbase than is to be expected for, say, the Opening Ceremonies. Despite that, Provinsk remains one of the more culturally-open cities in Vekaiyu, with bilingual signage and public transportation introduced in 2011. While vulpine bodies are smaller than their human counterparts, little to no complaints were filed for smaller seats or tighter confines on subway trains.

Provinskis expect the Vekaiyun government to pass some sort of spending bill to provide further updates to the city. Such updates were discussed pending the approval of the city and its co-host bid, and include accommodations for athletes (an "Olympic village" to be used as hotels later), updates to public transportation systems, updates to the well-known "Hall of Kevlar" boxing venue, expansion of the two Provinski aquatic arenas, and the implementation of Cultural Centers, which are designed to teach fans about the Vekaiyun culture, simple Unonian phrases, and how best to dye strands of one's hair in beet juice (it's a Provinsk thing).

All are expected to begin over the next few months, as that is the total time frame Provinsk has to get ready. Expect VOC chairwoman Riyna Yovisktre to work alongside the Vekaiyun government to stir the city into motion and ensure it will be ready to host these ever-important Summer Games.

The time for a few select Potthani athletes to shine in an international level has come. Though, due to the civil war in Potthan not many sportsmen and women could be spared. However, 8 were granted to travel to the foreign lands of Vekaiyu. Most of them were sharpshooters, as the Potthani people are known for their pitch-perfect accuracy. Let's meet the 8 brave Olympians, shall we?

Kurkil Nagaha is a 32 year old male hailing from the sect of Hamaan. In interviews, he's stated "... I've always had a knack for guns. Been shooting them since I was a wee boy.". In a national level, he's excelled in an array of marksmanship competitions, including the Grand Imperial Marksman Competition.

Hanag Jujalarim is a 43 year old male hailing from the sect of Jujalarim. Though his age may raise eyebrows, fear not he is very good as marksmanship, with a career spanning 22 years. He is the favorite among Olympic fans back in Potthan.

Ashjan Ghul is new to the game, being 24 years old this will be his 3rd year in competitive shooting. His hometown of Bokan cheers his name and hope he brings in gold. Out of the 8, it's arguable Ashjan is the most charitable, donating $70K to the Potthani Legion to help set up refugee camps in the outskirts of Kavash.

Faas Longinus is a retired military veteran and a true representative of the Potthani fighting spirit. Being 32, the same age as Hanag, he has intermediate knowledge and experience in competitive shooting. Not as popular as his fellow sportsmen and women, he still bolsters quite an audience at national-wide shows and competitions.

Nujayg Furneen, a 28 year old sharpshooter from Agadesh is confident in his abilities. He's very popular among young boys and girls striving to be competitive and such, so a win in his name would do greatly for the children of Potthan.

Nayji Londay is a 25 year old female from Hamaan Legion veteran that began competitive shooting whilst recovering in the hospital after breaking her leg. Many young girls in Potthan ador her and look at her as an idol.

Kaltyni Nanjaad is a popular television personality and Judo-instructor for Legion training camps. This 34 year old woman has been "training for a day like this since I was a little girl" stated by Kaltyni in an interview. She may be the woman Potthan needs to win the gold.

Last, but certainly not least: Bashur Nuun has been commended by the Senate of Defense for his help in training many Legion officers in Judo. 40 year old Bashur states, "I am not getting too cocky, but I am certain I will prevail to some extent.". So through time we shall see if this is fact or hopes.

Stay tuned to 99.3FM Radio Agadesh for more updates!

How to be a (Temporary) Provinski
An evening special edition for Provinsk Outpost - Codexian Language Version. Click here for Unonian Language Version

Ankya Suliveri, reporting - Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you know by now that Provinsk will, in the coming months, collide with destiny: a chance at vindication from their failed bid from several years ago. But let's not talk about that. After all, my colleague seems to be an ardent scholar of history, but anyone can tell you that while a Provinski (yes, that's what we refer to ourselves as - not Provinskian, Provinskite, or Provinskanian, seriously Codexian can be so weird sometimes) always has an ear to history, we're more inclined to live in the here and now but maintain an eye focused on the future. We're a bit different than those elsewhere in Vekaiyu, too. After all, Vekaiyuns are joined together by one common culture but several derivatives originating from our days of city-states and accepting or rejecting elected kings. We're a bit funny in that regard. But, while several dictators and two civil wars have sewn us together in one diverse and beautiful nation now and forever more, we like to think we're a bit more eccentric than our brothers and sisters in the western provinces. So, without further ado, allow me to guide you, a novice, on how to become a seasoned Provinski veteran.

Image
Translated Ad: Eskola: the soda pop
Vekaiyuns love and trust. Say 'es!' for Eskola!
Some Common Phrases
Provinskis can speak Codexian (common language, the language this edition happens to be written in), but we prefer to speak our native tongue and we absolutely love it when foreigners take an interest in our language, our culture, and our identity. I've compiled some common sayings you might try when visiting and enjoying our entertaining city:
  • Iyey strovineru Vekaiyustri nebistravi kes! - That Vekaiyun swimmer sure is fast!
  • Yesosu yusi bestrovi? - How is your day? (a common greeting)
  • Ses le Lesivey! - I wish you the best! (a common 'goodbye' saying)
  • Kasu tremstraviriyey nelevu? - Where are the restrooms ('nelevu' adds 'urgently' as opposed to 'lesivu' which is casual or 'belesirisu' which implies you are asking for a friend, or 'ses telesirisu' which is for a family member. Add a 'teri' suffix if you wish to be directed by hand motion and not spoken to).
  • Lesu! Levinile Ikarunoyia ses iskri nastrovoyey! - Goodness! Premier Levinile can speak with articulation!
  • Istrovi, reku na ve la tentateri bulsokaveri? - Pardon, but where did you get the beets to dye your hair?
All are common phrases. I swear. By the way, if you want to be believed beyond a shadow of a doubt, you say, Aro eri eyotri Sankia Aiya yes kustrobisi hakromu, which means 'By the hands of St. Aiya and the wood of the cross'. Be advised, this is not to be taken lightly.

The perfect way to dye your hair, Provinski-style
Provinskis pride themselves on having strands of hair dyed via beets. The actual practice dates back to ancient times, when thousands of years ago the Provinskis would dye strands of hair in the blood of their slain enemies utilizing specific ingredients to keep the dye from washing out easily. We're a Vayan Catholic nation now, and dyeing hair with blood is kind of a faux pas, as you Codexians would put it. So, to keep with tradition in a more civilized manner, we use beets. The state of Provinsk has a favorable growing climate, and beets have long been a staple of the region. We eat them, we brew with them, we dye with them, and we even have fragrances designed to smell like them (to a vulpine, they smell rather good indeed). While we are no experts when it comes to dyeing non-vulpine hair, everyone at the Provinsk Outpost agrees this is a foolproof recipe to follow:
  • 4 parts beet juice from western Provinsk
  • 3 parts black jaku root tea brewed with cloves
  • 1 part wine from the breathtaking Suyastrove valley (the cheap kind, please)
  • 1 part ginger, crushed
  • 1 part olive oil
Mix thoroughly and brush on to regions of hair approximately 1-2 cm wide. Use aluminum foil to wrap hair in juice-laden solution for approximately fifteen minutes. Rinse, and check for fade.

Dress Like a Provinski
So you've learned some key Unonian phrases, dyed your hair, and suddenly realized all those squiggly lines and loops are an alphabet and not some kind of weird design. You've moved one step closer to becoming an overnight success! Or, at the very least, fitting in and not looking like a tourist. And while it may seem daunting to fit in, especially considering vulpines are shorter and thinner than many other intelligent species (including the human variant), be advised that the average Provinski will appreciate any kind of attempt at trying out their culture. To dress like a Provinski, one must realize the average focus of a Provinski. That is, what preoccupies our city? What perhaps makes us different than another Vekaiyun city or, perhaps more importantly, what makes a Vekaiyun city different than any other city? Well, stated earlier the vast majority of Provinskis are Vayan Catholic, and we take our religion seriously as it is just as much a part of our culture as it is our belief. Consequently, Provinskis generally dress conservatively. Women generally wear skirts, dresses, shirts, the likes, and for business the blazer / skirt combination is pretty much the way to go. Of course, you could always dress more hip and opt for some jeans, some black and red sneakers, and perhaps a hoodie to keep the cool evening air at bay. But the accessories truly make the person. As Provinsk is the polymer capital of the Vekaiyun nation, we like jewelry that reflects that. Perhaps a necklace fashioned into a benzene ring, or a bracelet with 'polycarbonate' written in some elegant Unonian font is desired.

Image
Translated Caption: Is our Premier Levinile a trendsetter?
Likely, she is not.
What about men? Sandals and shorts are for boys. Men tend to wear a t-shirt or a button-downed oxford shirt with the sleeves rolled up (the higher the sleeves, the cooler you are is what it seems to be these days). Some particularly cool folks don't even wear sleeves at all in order to show just how rebellious they are. Perhaps they have a gaudy chain necklace. Perhaps they have a handkercheif in their back pocket. But all men have tough, perhaps worn pants to go with tough shoes or engineer boots. You know, because work boots make decent fashion accessories.

If you're in a pinch, remember that vulpine clothing sizes =/= sizes of other species, and you'll likely need to go up several sizes to get a good fit. Vulpine swimwear (one pieces only when it comes to ladies... sorry), pants, skirts, etc, have an option for tails, but as many opt to have the tail cut off at birth, it's not an absolute.

What about trends? Well, some have stuck, and some have fallen by the wayside. A trend that seems to have carried over from last year was the whole 'get some large headphones and wear them around your neck' trend. Very trendy. Makes it seem as though you aren't too focused on the bustle of real-life. Another trend that has stuck around? The pocket handkerchief, though that seems more out of functionality than anything else. Provinskis will always search for the latest trends that will differentiate themselves from the rest of the Vekaiyun nation (not that they hate being Vekaiyun; on the contrary, Provinskis accept being Vekaiyun by and large, but due to their tumultuous history, they like to be a bit different). Is body modification your forte? Well, Provinskis enjoy piercing their ears with various holes and studs, sometimes opting to place string or paperclips through the loops, whatever fits the mood.

A trend appearing this year happens to be stylus gloves. Yes, nice tight leather gloves that can be used for phones or those holographic computers everyone seems to have these days. Fun stuff, really. They also double as driving gloves, and the average Provinski enjoys a nice Saturday drive in and around town. Fashionable and functional. Speaking of that, did you know the practice of wearing swim masks on one's forehead is making a comeback? It's only slightly uncomfortable, but certainly is in style, especially as the nation looks to perform well in the coming Olympiad, co-hosted by Provinsk, of course. You can find vulpine-modified swim masks anywhere these days, but the best and most diverse styles seem to be at Itvelge's on the corner of Setranovi and Elanots. Thank heavens swim goggles are acceptable too.

I'm Hungry! I'm Thirsty!
Oh gosh, have you ever had Vekaiyun food? Well, don't believe all the rumors you've heard, but it is true, we spice and cook our food for the vulpine palette, which means food is laden in spices and sauces. To us, this means a complex and exciting array of tastes, but to someone who is not used to the taste it could be extremely off-putting. Likewise, a common human dish often seems bland and uninspiring, so it seems we're just cut from two different sides of the tablecloth, to coin a Vekaiyun phrase. Nevertheless, you can always ask a waiter to 'lighten' the flavor or ask for it 'human-style'. I swear by the hands of St. Aiya and the wood of the Cross this does not mean we add human meat to our dishes - that's a specist stereotype that is readily forgiven if assumed to be a mistake.

Image
Kikale: a Vekaiyun staple.
You're going to want to try the Kikale. It's the national dish of Vekaiyu, and it's noodles fashioned out of rice or flour (usually flour), added with vegetation common in Vekaiyu, typically with a heaping portion of redfish to really add some flavor. Provinskis enjoy the woodsy appeal of jaku root, so expect a taste that starts off sharp and spicy but ends cool and perhaps just a tiny bit sour. Wonderfully complex combination, really. If that's not your style, don't worry - we offer plenty of other dishes for the more discriminate palette. Perhaps a sandwich is more your liking? Blackened irush sandwiches might be more your liking. This sandwich features meat, usually lean beef, chopped up and mixed with a spicy potato mash. The mixture is cooked, then chilled into a loaf shape, then sliced up and placed on two slices of bread. Very tasty. Give it a shot!

As for drinks, Eskola always has a monopoly on the soda market, but if you're more for alcohol, order an islovium. It's fermented jaku root which, when brewed correctly, can make a potent yet tasty drink that is calmed by a spot of club soda. Finally, if you fancy a smoke, fear not as many Provinski restaurants have smoking sections. Yes, we know smoking is bad for one's health. No, we don't want a lecture on it.

Our Sports Teams Lose, but Our People are Winners
Provinskis are hard-working people who supply polymers and plastics to the nation and the world around them. Work ethic is champion in a city where smokestacks reach like the Arms of God to the serene sky of the Vekaiyun city. But with hard work comes relaxation and recreation. Provinskis love their aquatics. Going through education without joining some kind of school underwater hockey league, swim team, or even taking up scuba diving is seen as odd or rare. Like all Vekaiyun students enrolled in public schooling, swimming is a core curriculum requirement. Most major league teams in Provinsk are seen as "tough losers", in that the city has not won a national championship in underwater hockey, underwater rugby, baseball, or soccer since 1983 when the Provinsk Red Fins of Vekaiyun Major League Underwater Hockey brought home the coveted Imlestrobi Trophy. I wasn't born then, but everyone tells me the city went absolutely mad. Based on their championship run, it is common to drive through eastern boroughs of Provinsk and spot a pair of red flippers nailed near the front door as a sort of good luck charm for the local team. That of course differentiates them from the rival Yamursis, named after the process of removing the rib cage from a still-living enemy and, once cleaned, fashioning the cage into a harp - a process now firmly etched in Provinsk yore from the armies of years past. Needless to say, the west-end of the city does not hang rib cages, of course, but instead opts for the usual flags, historical memorabilia, hats, the likes. Their logo is a harp.

You absolutely should attend a local Provinski sporting event, as they are often not as prim and proper as one might expect from an Olympic competition.

Is that it? The rope is not tied off yet! Tune into Part Two for more information!

How to be a (Temporary) Provinski, Part Two
An evening special edition for Provinsk Outpost - Codexian Language Version. Click here for Unonian Language Version

Yamano Eystrastruve, reporting - While my colleague Ankya managed to touch on some of the cultural aspects of our city, I couldn't help to realize there were several other facets missing from your beginners' guide (I also took the time to read through the comments section of the Unonian-speakers. Yes, we do that from time to time). So, without wasting a measure of your time, I wish to impart some knowledge I've picked up along the way as a reporter, someone who would normally report on foreign matters and therefore has a better grasp of an 'outside-looking-in' point of view.

First Impressions
Provinsk, and Vekaiyu as a whole, have grown differently as a culture when compared to the world around it and, as a consequence, will likely be a different experience altogether for the casual fan. But don't let that intimidate you - we are a friendly nation, despite what our past may indicate. Gone are the days of the Dictator Max Venavle and his rumors of drinking human blood (he did not - autopsies taken from his headless body indicated this as much). Likewise, the days of Selvala McEva and her crass comments have been discarded - you can thank a civil war and Premier Ikrisia Levinile for that. Many individuals died so that Vekaiyu could be free from the iron grip of the failed policies of the past, and the Premier and her government have made great strides in ensuring Vekaiyu remains a forward-thinking nation prepared for the 21st century, not just in technology and economic impact, but in acceptance and understanding toward the world around them.

Your First Day
Upon arriving in Provinsk, you'll want to complete the following tasks. First, ensure your visas are in correct standing with the Vekaiyun government. You will likely need to do this through a customs officer or a Vekaiyun Foreign Officer. They're easily recognizable via their gray uniforms, and are female - one of the few artifacts from previous regimes as it is generally believed (but not officially acknowledged) that a vulpine female presence is generally less intimidating and therefore more able to quickly handle the intricate language and cultural barriers. They will guide you through the process of stepping onto Vekaiyun soil, and are there to help you enjoy our city with as little difficulties as possible. The Vekaiyun government has granted temporary (40-day visas) for all traveling fans, but be advised that it is not as simple as getting a stamp and moving forward. A foreign visitor is still subject to the restricted items list, and any suspicious characters may be held for a short period of time in order to fully clear them, but such procedures are generally rare.

Once your visa is clear, you will be advised to exchange currency. Vekaiyuns use the Veskono (℣, VSK). It is a fairly rudimentary currency. You can store coins on a thick rope, as all coins have a hole punched through them. Bills are made of a plastic material which make it difficult to counterfeit.

Be sure to pick up a common Unonian-to-Codexian phrasebook. It is ridiculously inexpensive at ℣0.79 and worth every ekvu. There you will find some common phrases, an introduction to our alphabet, and how to read some basic street signs and points of interest. Provinsk has made the transition to a bilingual city and should be fairly easy to navigate. But knowing just a little Unonian will go a long way, and may help you find some hidden treasures Provinsk has to offer.

Provinsk boasts a reliant public transportation system which includes subway systems, buses, railways, and taxi cabs. Rental cars are available on request provided the individual can pass a rudimentary driving test (the lines for this may get a little long, so best to just rely on the efficiency of Provinski transportation on this one). Note that travel between Novonaya and Provinsk has been made possible by the Yasterian Highway System. A special rail system added to the highway will allow for quick and safe travel between the two host cities.

Provinski Weather: Sunny with a Chance of Instability
Across history, Provinsk has been fought over by two main weather systems - the moist and warm (during the summer months) air from the Gulf of Itur in the north and the cooler, drier air from the Uliveru Mountains which rest on the southeastern border between Vekaiyu and Packilvania. Provinsk summer is generally determined by whichever system wins out. Generally, this is the former, and this year we can expect no different. Expect daily highs in the upper 20's Celsius (mid-80's Fahrenheit) and lows in the teens Celsius (around 60 Fahrenheit). A shower or thunderstorm may hit in the late afternoon. So, be mindful of the warmth and the rain if and when it comes.

Vayan Catholicism and You
To be Vekaiyun is to be a practicing Vayan Catholic. Vayan Catholicism has been readily identified with Vekaiyun culture and surrounding nations for well over sixteen hundred years, planted three hundred years prior by the seeds of St. Aiya. Vekaiyu and Vayan Catholicism owes their existence in part to the works of St. Aiya. Her name and the several books tacked onto the Vayan Bible regarding her times and prayers have made a lasting impression on the Vekaiyun people. But unlike most saints exclusive to the Vayan Catholic faith, her body remains on display under the towering barrel vaulted ceiling of the appropriately-named Cathedral of St. Aiya, located in Eldura. The wrappings sustained from preservation rituals are mostly hidden by body an ornate dress, facsimile hair, even fine leather shoes to reflect what the saint may have looked like prior to her death, along with a new platinum mask, constructed by master craftsmen (with inlaid eyes constructed of obsidian, emerald, and moonstone) several hundred years ago.

Vayan Catholic Cardinals are considering temporarily moving her body to Provinsk for national festivities, but thus far they have remained mum on the subject.

Vayan Catholics, especially those living in larger cities, are summoned to pray several times throughout the day. If this happens - and it certainly does in Provinsk - do not fret. While our religion is sacred to us, the general mantra throughout the centuries has been a more relaxed approach when it comes to dealing with other faiths. All we ask is respect, and generally speaking (based on that of an average Vayan Catholic, of course) it will be returned. Individuals are allowed to attend mass and may participate in the chants if they know them. Several cathedrals offer Codexian-spoken masses, but for the true experience, try to attend a noonday mass orchestrated entirely in Unonian, complete with the chanting of monks and nuns (in the case of larger cathedrals), and various prayers. One other point of advice: if you are not Vayan Catholic, we do ask that you refrain from partaking in the Eucharist. Finally, please dress accordingly. Many Vayan Catholic churches ask entrants to dress appropriately when able to, as there are exceptions when it comes to the poor.

Stuff to Do
You can't go to Provinsk without checking out these activities. Complete this list, and you're sure to call yourself a temporary Provinski:
  • Slip into the vast East Rows Marketplace and glimpse into Provink's past as an important trade center dating back to ancient times. Find old recipes, treasures from across the nation, and the always-entertaining fire-handlers and shadow dancers who seek to entertain the bleary traveler with the dexterity of the vulpine physique.
  • Visit the Cathedral of All-Souls, Provinsk's largest and oldest cathedral and enjoy a midday mass.
  • Stroll through the Riverside District along the Eruli River and enjoy dishes that would appeal to the most discriminate of Vekaiyun palettes.
  • And, when you're there, enjoy the tall buildings and recent technological innovations along the West Polymer Corridor, where towering buildings housing powerful Vekaiyun polymer companies stretch to the heavens above while offering items like holographic computers in their shops below.
  • The breathtaking Provinsk Subway System is one of the most ornate in the nation, complete with modern Vekaiyun architecture. Recent Vekaiyun music played across the system will surely transport you to another world, none of the puns intended.
  • Lake Soyassi is crystal clear this time of the year and is a premier location for scuba diving. Don't worry, instructors are trained to deal with prospective human divers. If Soyassi is too crowded, one can always opt for the various Aquatic Arenas and local aqua centers Provinsk has to offer.
  • For a more sobering experience, the Hall of Souls is a long (but lit) marbled vault with the names of Vekaiyuns who fought and died for the freedoms they now enjoy as a result of the 2010 Vekaiyun Civil War. Provinsk was one of the first provinces to declare loyalty to then-Kral Commodore Ikrisia Levinile as the government attempted to free itself from Maxists

In Closing
Provinsk is one of those cities where one can easily get lost in, either via checking out the various sights and activities, or by losing one's self in the unique culture the city has to offer. If you trust the people there, and if you give them a chance to reveal their culture, you will certainly obtain a most unique experience for this Twelfth Summer Olympiad.

Participating nations of men's and women's water polo in the Eleventh Summer Games,

Image
I, Ikrisia Levinile, welcome you to Vekaiyu, a nation of rich history, unique culture, and exciting opportunities. I do hope that you find our nation comforting, pleasant and, exciting. While Codexian (what we refer to in our realm as "common") language is not my first language, I hope you accept my letter of congratulations in fielding a team and competing in an international competition on our soil. We, the Vekaiyun people, hope this competition will underscore the competitive international spirit and goodwill the Olympic games have provided since their inception. We as Olympic participants have enjoyed these games since the Fifth Summer Olympics, and we are honored to be finally giving back to the community with respect to co-hosting the Twelfth Summer Olympiad. Truly, we are both honored and excited to be trusted with this unique privilege. It is our deepest desire to ensure these Olympics are successful.

The city of Provinsk, also known as The Polymer Capital of Yasteria and The Market City, will host several events, including aquatics, football, boxing, and rugby 7's, just to name a few. Provinsk is a city with a rich, unique history which stems from its location in Yasteria and ancient trade routes that ran through the city. Provinskis are a progressive, trend-loving group of people who enjoy their own take on Vekaiyun life and culture. The city is forward-thinking on interactions with other cultures, too, and readily gives new ideas an honest try. I believe they will find your quirks and values just as interesting as you may with them. My advice to you would be to try and take in everything the city has to offer. Enjoy a bowl of kikale, view new innovations in the West Polymer Corridor, try out a Provinsk night club, and learn a little Unonian along the way. And while the rest of the large city is breathtaking, the selected venues are particularly beautiful and highlight some of the more unique aspects of Vekaiyun architecture.

For the first time, underwater hockey will also be included in the Olympic package as a demonstration event. Vekaiyu's most popular national sport is underwater hockey - even I competed in college, though my career certainly led me elsewhere. Provinsk will co-host with Novonaya in Kelssek, another nation with a proud history and noteworthy culture. Both cities have recently been joined by The Yasterian Highway System in order to accommodate travel and should significantly minimize required travel time between the two cities.

In order to ensure this Olympiad runs fluid and without interruption, we have selected three prominent Vekaiyun cities with new or renovated aquatic arenas and football stadiums in order to handle water polo, underwater hockey, field hockey, and football events. While Unonian is our native language and it is quite different from Codexian, these four cities are bilingual enough where the common Codexian speaker will be able to find their way around without much trouble. Football arenas are rather straightforward. The aquatic arenas are designed with Vekaiyu's most popular sport in mind - Underwater Hockey. To this end, arenas have seating located above water and below water, arranged in such fashion where spectators may view action at the surface or below the water facilitated by plexiglass walls. Speaking as a fan of both, I encourage spectators to try out both experiences. Security will be present at these venues in order to ensure the safety of participants and spectators. It is unfortunate, but past events from the previous Olympics has provided me enough justification. One cannot be too sure.

Image
To the right is a map I have provided for you. It is an overly-simplified map, and more detailed maps will be at your disposal, but this map in particular shows the general locations of the four cities we have carefully selected for these matches. Travel between cities is simple and facilitated by the newly-constructed Yasterian Highway System. Public transportation is always available between these Vekaiyun cities.

Eldura is the capital city of Vekaiyu and its largest city. It is a beautiful capital, really. The aquatic arena selected for international competition is Istroyavi Aveynyo Eldura (Eldura Aquatic Grounds). Itwas built in 2011 and is capable of seating 24,000. A special note about seating. While we vulpine individuals are generally smaller and more limber than other species, you will find seating at these arenas to be most adequate . Its football stadium is Jerovi Vekaiyu Restroviske (Vekaiyun National Open Air Arena), and is quite possibly one of the most beautiful venues Vekaiyu has to offer. You will know why it is has been dubbed 'The V Stadium' upon your first approach. It can seat roughly 74,000 individuals. I recommend one tries the kekale here, as Elduran kikale is not as spicy as Provinsk kikale. While it's probably not a normal sport food, the bowl of noodles and spices are a Vekaiyun staple. Calesu is among our most important ports. The aquatic arena, Yslevori Sobranoc (Sobranoc Corporation Bowl) was built in 2006 and is known for its unmatched sight lines allowing for unprecedented view of the competition. 21,100 fans may watch a game within its confines. The 62,250 capacity Akyolo Ignavasia (Akyolo Complex) boasts picturesque views of the Gulf of Itur to go with an aesthetic roof constructed out of a flexible transparent polymer. Finally, we have the city of Soveri, the gatekeeper of southern Vekaiyu. The aquatic arena selected is Istreyvu Nelusi Rakosti (Istreyvu River Arena). This arena was built it 1990 and can seat 19,960. Soveri's football stadium is the red, white, and golden Leskatrosi Elakroveri (Elakroveri Competition Bowl), and can seat 54,760. All venues feature common Vekaiyun food, bilingual directions, and souvenirs, among other amenities.

We, the citizens of Vekaiyu, look forward to you and your countrymen visiting our nation.

With best (Ses Lesivey),

Gregoryisgodistan Olympic Preview, Part I

Hello, and welcome to Part I of Gregoryisgodistan's Olympic preview, as we go through the delegation and look at the athletes, those who have the best chance of winning medals, and those who don't.

We'll start with the diving. Clown 09REU09SDF and Clown REFUAYANAETHAYAM will compete in all of the men's diving events, including as a team in the synchronized event. As you can guess by their names, they are clowns. They will compete in full clown attire, including waterproof face paint. Clown 09REU09SDF's clown costume consists of a pink, orange, and lime green polka dotted top set up against a white background, and neon yellow inflatable shorts. He has rainbow hair and white face paint with red polka dots. His eyes are outlined with orange circles. He looks like a clown. Clown REFUAYANAETHAYAM's costume consists of a white top with orange polka dots, and orange inflatable pants. His face is completely orange, designed to look like a parody of Dumpy O'Rumpy. His hair is also an orange hideous hair thing similar to Dumpy O'Rumpy's hideous hair.

On the women's side, Telephone Support Specialist 7S9DYF9SDF will compete as one half of the delegation. She provides support to people whose telephones are broken. However, she provides it on the telephone so nobody ever calls in. GT&T is still trying to figure out why. Perhaps someone should tell them.

The other half of the women's diving delegation is Anti-Fart Patrol Officer 034U09SAUDF0SDBOOBE. As part of her day job, she patrols the beat, looking, listening, and sniffing for people who fart. As farting is a capital crime in Gregoryisgodistan, if she catches anybody, they and their families are immediately turned over to the executioner for execution via Brownie Cutter of Death, the Most Painful Execution Experience In The Multiverse (TM). So don't fart while in Gregoryisgodistan. Fortunately for those attending the Olympics, she will not be enforcing the anti-flatulence statutes during the Games.

Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory Guaya Beans Are Dumb will be competing in every men's swimming event except the relays and open water. He is the greatest swimmer in Gregoryisgodistan and will favor to win many medals. His name is an allusion to Gregoryisgodistan's hatred for its archenemy, San Jose Guayabal. "Guaya Beans" is a pejorative term Gregoryisgodistanis use for citizens of that country.

Enemy Crusher Fatty Swimmywimmy is also competing in every men's swimming event except the relays and open water. If you're a Gregoryisgodistani, or a foreigner who's already heard the annual "What the hell is an Enemy Crusher?" speech, you can skip the next part, but we'll explain it for those who haven't. Enemy Crushers are morbidly obese Gregoryisgodistani government agents who crush enemies of the state as a means of torture or punishment. Enemy Crusher Fatty Swimmywimmy weighs a whopping 975 pounds, perfect for crushing infidels but not so good for swimming. He will probably not win a medal but will look hilarious trying to do so.

Slave 3409ASD/Slave ASDFGHJKLSEMICOLONSMELL/Slave CUARTOSINKO/Slave GOAT02348U8 is the team that competes in the men's swimming relays. They are all slaves but will be liberated if they win a medal in any of the relays. However, if they finish in last place in any of the relays, they will be executed. If they win one relay and finish last in another, they will remain slaves.

Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory Nuke The Greater Vakolicci Haven And All Their Little Friends will compete in the men's 10 km marathon swim. His name reflects Gregoryisgodistan's hatred for The Greater Vakolicci Haven, a nation Gregoryisgodistan has had numerous conflicts with at past Olympic Games. He is sure to say insulting things about The Greater Vakolicci Haven at some point during the Games. Also, their "little friends" include Coraspia and other infidel nations, who Lord Almighty Gregory groups in with Vakolicci regardless of the true situation, which nobody knows nor cares about because who cares about infidels?

Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory The Greater Vakolicci Haven And All Their Little Friends Are Stupiud is also competing in the open water marathon. Yes, his name is spelled "Stupiud". This is supposed to reflect the fact that Vakolicci infidels are too stupid to know how to spell the word stupid. Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory The Greater Vakolicci Haven And All Their Little Friends Are Stupiud does know how to spell the word stupid - he does not need any time in a Spelling Reeducation Camp.

Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory Sheila Bassante will compete in all the women's swimming events except the relays and open water event. She is nothing special, except that she is one of Lord Almighty Gregory's most loyal friends. That is why she was allowed to compete in these Games as a reward even though her medal prospects are slim.

Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory Mustava-Sheila Rama-Lama-Ding-Dong will also compete in all the women's swimming events except the relays and open water swimming marathon. She is also not very good but was selected on account of her loyalty to Lord Almighty Gregory.

The team of Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory Sheila Bassante/Sex Slave 7AUSHDGASDGASFDBV/Lord Almighty Gregory's 2,348th Concubine/Lord Almighty Gregory's 72nd Concubine will compete in the swimming relays. Guess Sheila actually is competing in the relays too. Never mind.

Lord Almighty Gregory's 23rd Waffle Chef will compete in the women's 10 km open water marathon. She is one of many waffle chefs Lord Almighty Gregory has at his 38-story mansion in Capital District. Her specialty is Belgian waffles with large squares and strawberries and whipped cream mixed into the batter, then topped with more strawberries and whipped cream. The whipped cream makes the waffles light and fluffy as clouds as well as giving it a sweet taste.

Lord Almighty Gregory's Third Ice Water Chef is also competing in the open water marathon. She is one of 38 ice water chefs Lord Almighty Gregory has, one on each floor of the mansion, so he never has to wait too long for ice water. Never mind that some of the floors are used for storage of Lord Almighty Gregory's personal items and he would never go there since he'd have a servant fetch the stuff. Specifically, the 23rd and 24th floors. If somehow Lord Almighty Gregory winds up there, someone needs to bring him ice water. He also has 62 ice water chefs in various other parts of the mansion grounds, for a total of 100 ice water chefs.

Lord Almighty Gregory's Second Swimming Pool Cleaner is one member of the synchronized swimming men's duet team. He cleans Lord Almighty Gregory's second mansion pool, the one located in the third basement of his mansion. There are 11 total basements in addition to the 38 stories, plus a 100,000 square foot bunker 800 feet underground in case of nuclear war, which is technically the 12th basement. Lord Almighty Gregory's first pool is located on the roof of the mansion, with another retractable roof above it in case of rain. However, this is classified as the roof and not the 39th story. Lord Almighty Gregory's third through eighth pools are located outside at various points throughout the 7.6 square mile mansion grounds, which are easily accessible in various vehicles driven by Lord Almighty Gregory's servants. The ninth pool is in the nuclear bunker, in case Lord Almighty Gregory wants to go for a swim during the nuclear war, or discovers a traitor and needs to drown him personally in the event the executioner is unable to make it to the bunker in time or is the traitor himself. The tenth and eleventh pools are located inside in various auxiliary buildings on the mansion grounds, which also include a billiard hall, two indoor mini golf courses, a planetarium, a full-service restaurant where only Lord Almighty Gregory, his wife, and their special guests are allowed to eat, an ice cream parlor only open to the same, and many more. These venues are all fully staffed 24/7 even though they are rarely used.

Lord Almighty Gregory's 11th Pancake Chef is the other half of the duet team. Unlike some pancake chefs who we will meet later who specialize in various kinds of pancakes, Lord Almighty Gregory's 11th Pancake Chef is a general pancake chef who works at the full-service pancake restaurant on the 33rd floor of Lord Almighty Gregory's mansion which is only open to Lord Almighty Gregory, his wife, and special guests. There is also a second pancake house located on the mansion grounds, about a mile and a half from the mansion itself. Not to mention Lord Almighty Gregory can have one of the pancake chefs who don't work at the restaurant make him pancakes whenever and wherever he wants, anywhere on the mansion grounds.

Lord Almighty Gregory's 525th Concubine AND Lord Almighty Gregory's 562nd Concubine round out the individual swimming events, competing in the synchronized duet. They, as their names imply, are Lord Almighty Gregory's personal concubines. Like all of his employees, they do not have names or ID sequences - their service is their only identity.

Gregoryisgodistan will also send teams in synchronized swimming and water polo, men's and women's.

That's all for today, we'll continue this tomorrow.

OOC: Sorry for the double post, but as it's been over 48 hours, I'm posting separately in case the hosts have graded the preceding one already.

Gregoryisgodistan Olympic Preview, Part II

Hello, and welcome to Part II of the Gregoryisgodistan Olympic preview.

Soldier U890RU9SDFSDF will compete in the men's archery, as the first of three athletes. He is extremely talented from his practice killing heathens with arrows laced with poison and extremely sharp, and he is a heavy medal favorite. He will also compete in the team event with his teammates.

Soldier MEU0S9DUF9 is also entering the men's archery individual and team. He is also a brave noble soldier who participated in the invasion of Saintland during the Great War of Esportiva, which is odd since Saintland is not, and never has been, in Esportiva. But they attacked Gregoryisgodistan, and Gregoryisgodistan invaded in response. Thankfully nosy old Eura didn't notice, otherwise they'd have probably said "Oh, how dare you attack the country that attacked you? Herpy derpy nobody attacks Holy Rushmore even if the Rushmori nation attacked you first, hell, let's have Saintland invade all of Esportiva and if any of them fight back, we'll nuke them because they fought Rushmore waaah waaah waaah I want my teddy!" Ok, maybe that's an exaggeration, but nobody likes nosy old Eura.

Soldier YEUCJHU409ASD is the final competitor in the men's archery individual and team. He was a member of the invasion force that invaded Free Republics to take out Reino Kulseth, and his biggest regret in life is not killing that clown himself. He longs to invade east Saintland and kill "KIng" Andreas, but will settle for a gold medal for now.

Lady Soldier 798UER9FHSDF will compete in the women's archery event and also the team event. She is a heavy medal favorite and hopes to lead the nation to medals in both events. When she does, she will sing the national anthem loudly and proudly.

Lady Soldier BEYSDY98Y5R9RFDASDF is another medal favorite in the women's archery. She hopes to win the gold and sing "Lord Almighty Gregory" and maybe they will sweep the medals. That would be awesome.

Lady Soldier RYSDFUFUS is the final women's archer. She is also a heavy medal favorite.

Lord Almighty Gregory's Fifth Squirtle Painter will compete in the men's 100 m track event. He is one of Lord Almighty Gregory's many Squirtle painters. Squirtle is Lord Almighty Gregory's favorite Pokemon and he hopes to one day have a bunch of Squirtles in one of the ponds on his mansion, which shall be called the Squirtle Pond. Until then, he will have to be satisfied with the pictures.

Lord Almighty Gregory's Eight Squirtle Painer is another Squirtle painter. Yes, Lord Almighty Gregory has a lot of Squirtle painters. He really likes Squirtle. And he's God, so that's cool. He will also compete in the 100 m.

Lord Almighty Gregory's Second Squirtle Kidnapper Who Will Someday Travel To The Unified Sunrise Islands And Kidnap A Squirtle will compete in the 100 m as well as both hurdles events and the steeplechase. He is the one who will get Lord Almighty Gregory his Squirtles someday. Yes, he will. Lord Almighty Gregory will have his Squirtles.

Lord Almighty Gregory's Fifth Ice Water Chef is another one of Lord Almighty Gregory's many ice water chefs. He works on the fifth floor of Lord Almighty Gregory's mansion, getting him ice water whenever he wants when he is on that floor. He will compete in many track events.

Lord Almighty Gregory's 29th Super Spicy Chili Chef is one of Lord Almighty Gregory's many chili chefs, all of whom specialize in Lord Almighty Gregory's favorite kind of chili - super spicy chili. It has all sorts of hot peppers, hot sauces, onions, tomatoes, and spicy spicy beans made with a secret recipe. Plus spicy beef. Yes, the chili has beans. In 1793, Gregoryisgodistan fought a war with another nation over whether chili should have beans. It has beans. Deal with it. Oh, and he's doing track.

Lord Almighty Gregory's 63rd Bananas And Sour Cream Chef is one of Lord Almighty Gregory's 103 bananas and sour cream chefs. Bananas and sour cream is one of Lord Almighty Gregory's favorite snacks. He has many chefs who will make it depending on where he is at that time. Lord Almighty Gregory's 63rd Bananas And Sour Cream Chef works at the future Squirtle Pond, in case Lord Almighty Gregory wants bananas and sour cream while staring longingly picturing his future Squirtles. He's doing track.

Lord Almighty Gregory' 14th Goat Feeder feeds the goats at Lord Almighty Gregory's petting zoo. He is competing in the men's marathon. Lord Almighty Gregory loves the goats, they are his favorite goats.

Lord Almighty Gregory's Goat Feeder Whose Job It Is To Make Sure Ruth Bleater Ginsburg Is Well-Fed At All Times Because She Is Lord Almighty Gregory's Favorite Goat will compete in the men's marathon. It is his job to feed Lord Almighty Gregory's favorite goat, a female goat by the name of Ruth Bleater Ginsburg. Ruth Bleater Ginsburg is awesome. She bleats and wears goat clothes, it is awesome.

Lord Almighty Gregory's Former Goat Feeder Whose Job It Was To Feed Pikableat The Goat Before Beloved Pikableat Was Goatnapped And Sacrificed By Heathens And Now He Will Be Executed If He Doesn't Redeem Himself By Winning A Medal is the final competitor in the men's marathon. He was the goat feeder whose job it was to feed a goat by the name of Pikableat before poor, sweet Pikableat was kidnapped and sacrificed by a heathen Quebecois organization known as the Gotham Pagan Gang. The Gang's members were then executed, and its leader made history as the 100 millionth execution in the history of Gregoryisgosdistan. However, Lord Almighty Gregory's Former Goat Feeder Whose Job It Was To Feed Pikableat The Goat Before Beloved Pikableat Was Goatnapped And Sacrificed By Heathens And Now He Will Be Executed If He Doesn't Redeem Himself By Winning A Medal needed to be punished, so now he has to run a marathon. And if he doesn't win, he will be executed for allowing poor, sweet Pikableat to die.

Also, all of those marathoners are also in the race walk events.

Lord Almighty Gregory's Ninth Blueberry Pancake Chef, Lord Almighty Gregory's Eighth Blueberry Pancake Chef, and Lord Almighty Gregory's Seventh Blueberry Pancake Chef will compete in the men's high jump. They all make blueberry pancakes for Lord Almighty Gregory exactly as he likes them, well done. Yum yum yum, blueberry pancakes.

Lord Almighty Gregory's Sixth Blueberry Pancake Chef, Lord Almighty Gregory's Fifth Blueberry Pancake Chef , and Lord Almighty Gregory's Fourth Blueberry Pancake Chef will compete in the men's pole vault. They are also Lord Almighty Gregory's blueberry pancake chefs.

Lord Almighty Gregory's Third Blueberry Pancake Chef, Lord Almighty Gregory's Second Blueberry Pancake Chef , and Lord Almighty Gregory's First Blueberry Pancake Chef will compete in the men's long jump and triple jump. None of them will probably win medals.

Enemy Crusher I Lift Things Up And Put Them Down will compete in the men's shot put, discus, and hammer throw. He weighs in at a whopping 875 pounds, and can really pick up the shot put stone and throw it far. He is a big, huge, fat guy. He is a medal favorite, and hopefully he wins. Every day, he eats four pounds of macaroni and cheese, 11 pizzas with extra sauce and extra cheese, 23 bowls of super spicy secret chili with chips, four strawberry rhubarb pies, and eight chocolate cakes. That is what makes him so big and fat.

Enemy Crusher I Put Things Down And Lift Them Up will compete in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw as well. He is even heavier than his aforementioned teammate at 935 pounds. He is also a medal favorite. His daily food consists of six pounds of macaroni and cheese, seven pizzas with extra sauce and extra cheese, 13 steaks, 39 sloppy joe sandwiches, 11 cheeseburgers, 34 pancakes, 11 apple pies, and three bowls of oatmeal. This is what makes him so big and fat.

Enemy Crusher I Lift My Enemies And Defenestrate Them is the final enemy crusher competing in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw. In addition to crushing his enemies, he will often defenestrate them as well, which is to say he throws them through the window. His strategy is imagining that the shot put, discus, and hammer are his enemies and that he is defenestrating them. It works. He is the biggest enemy crusher in athletics, weighing in at a whopping 1,025 pounds. His daily meals include 39 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, 23 pizzas with extra sauce and extra cheese, 39 bowls of super spicy chili with chips (and, yes, beans, most definitely beans), 16 bowls of banana ice cream, and 19 banana milkshakes.

Lord Almighty Gregory's 33rd Banana Ice Cream Chef is one of Lord Almighty Gregory's many banana ice cream chefs. He will compete in the men's javelin throw. So will Lord Almighty Gregory's 34th Strawberry Ice Cream Chef and Lord Almighty Gregory's 11th Vanilla Soft Serve Ice Cream Chef, who also make ice cream. They will all also compete in the decathlon.

That's all for tonight. We'll be back later with Part III.

The RAID
NOVONAYA'S ARTS AND CULTURE SOURCE

Olympics concert headliners announced
The Homeopathic Sociopaths, Jamais m'ârreterai, Dolphinbananas, Night Blinders, and the oddly-named jazz quintet #canada150 have been announced as the headline acts for the Bolgarden Place concert series, which will get started on day two of the Olympics, if you're able to overcome the Confederation Day hangover by then. Thousands are expected to turn out for the free shows as Novonaya prepares to put on the biggest summer party the city's ever seen.

But first the big screen will be out for a viewing party in the city's main square for the highly-anticipated opening ceremony to be beamed live from Provinsk. Mayor Teresa Alinev notes that Novonaya will be involved in the ceremony in a literal sense but claims she herself doesn't know what to expect.

"I've mostly been informed on a need-to-know basis, and little beyond that, but what I've gleaned makes me real excited, that's for sure."

While the federal Culture and Tourism Ministry has made Kelssek House a fixture at the Olympics, since the budget goes further when stuff doesn't have to be flown across continents, it will be bigger and has a special early opening this week with Eid al-Fitr happening to fall just before the start of the Games. Garban Tynarlem, head chef of the Stockhouse restaurant, is supervising the conversion of a herd of sheep into a traditional Vanardian spicy lamb stew.

West Phoenicia unveils new uniform for the XII Olympiad.

Three fashion houses in The Confederate Kingdom of West Phoenicia placed bids to design the upcoming XII Olympiad opening ceremony. Any fashion house would be aware such an honour to win the bid would increase fashion sales when the world feasted on their designs.
The House of Hathor successful won the bid labeling their design beauty, charm and grace. Three characteristics that every West Phoenician athlete should emulate. A sneak preview to National and International media outlets was held on Monday in the capital of West Phoenicia, Melbourne-Haven located in the city-state of Jackson.

Head fashion designer; Giovanni Le'Parsae of The House of Hathor has described the look as "a timeless classic, simple in beauty and elegance fit for royalty."

A number of sports put on notice

West Phoenicia is fielding a large team this Olympiad. They are contesting every event to go give their athletes the ability to display all their hardwork and discipline on the world stage, but it does come at a price.
Sending a large delegation of athletes, their coaches and support staff consists of a lot of funding. Of which the government is happy to provide, considering that the athletes perform well. The government has advised each sport will receive a performance review at the end of the games as well as review which sports fans are most likely to watch on television or attended an event.
Those obtaining medals will see an increase of funding allocated to their sports. Those placing in the top 10 will also see a small increase to pay for more training, coaches and equipment needed to improve to a medal standard.
Those sports falling short of that criteria will see a slash to funding with an increase in the sport to pay their own way for future International sporting events for which if they are unable to raise the funds athletes will be forced to forfeit their spot on the West Phoenician Olympic delegation.

A similar performance review was held after the Aeropag Summer Olympic Games, which saw sports like Swimming, Sailing, Shooting, Gymnastics, Baseball and Wrestling see an increase in funding.
Sports like Canoeing, Rowing, Cycling, Football, Volleyball, Equestrian and Badminton were put under the radar as low performing sports with little fan support. These particular sports will need to pull in some medal wins to starve off potential fund slashing.

2200 Hours
June 25, 12017 H.E.
Atlaerskoiy, The Atlae Isles

The conference room was simply a mess. Businesspeople clad in dark suits and long ties had been standing for the last hour arguing, the tension building to the point where bouts of fistfights could spontaneously erupt.

This building is the Atlaesian Associated Press Building, where all the news networks would get together and report on the facts for international readers. Most times, it served as a room to gather most of the press together. Most times, people would describe it as "dull," "boring," or "totally not worth that 50 Karubles in that government-sanctioned tourist program." But today, people had long gone past the cordial greetings and casual monopolization or collusion offers and were straight up yelling at each other.

The cause of the fighting, however? The licensing of live and exclusive coverage of the XII Olympiad. It would have been simple enough to simply auction it off, right? It should have, but it's not quite so simple.

The first auction to license the coverage of the Olympics went smoothly. ADN (Atlaesian Daily News) beat out NWB (Northwestern Broadcasting) $1.32 billion Karubles to $1.04 billion Karubles. So, ADN should have gotten the rights to cover the Olympiad. What went wrong?

Well, NWB disputed the results, and sued ADN, claiming that much of the money ADN had used to buy the rights were from embezzlement and tax evasion. ADN had been acquitted, but decided to give the licensing agreement to NWB. So Northwestern Broadcasting should have been broadcasting the Olympics. Why is it not?

Soon after NWB accepted those rights, newspapers and A-PAC (Atlaesian-Public Affairs Communications) sued NWB, pointing to the International Affairs and Telecommunications Act of 11976, stating that events which pose an objective benefit to life can not be excluded from television, and no profiting can be made off such broadcasts.

The case was eventually dropped after the jury kept on being deadlocked, but NWB gave up the rights as well. So a second, more legal standing auction was called. However, after the result, everyone decided that it was unfair because not a lot of people arrived or was a bidder in the auction.

The third auction was dismissed after the organizers failed to obtain the permits to hold an auction. Now it was only a few days before the Olympics, and no situation was reached. This became a trending story, and you can't go anywhere (online or outdoors) without people talking and betting on who gets the rights. The Gambling Industry virtually had a field day.

Even ADN and NWB got back in on the action, claiming that they still had the rights to broadcast the Olympics, and it was revealed that they had made a deal to share the rights as long as no one else did.

Back to the conference. Ooh, someone's got a gavel!

"Order, order!" Shouts Margaret Kennedy, the President of the Atlaesian Associated Press.

"We've assembled to determine who, legally, can broadcast the XII Olympiad. No fighting, please-"

But it was too late. The shouting had started again.

*bang!* *bang!* *bang!*

Margaret held the gavel, looking down angrily at the crowd. "If you can't get it settled in 15 minutes, then no one is!"

She left the room in silence as she walked out. When she came back, the room was quiet. "Well?" She asked, angrily.

One of them stood up. This was Jonatan Wesley, from NBN (National Broadcasting Network). "We've bought the rights for $1.85 billion Karubles." Nods of heads went around the room.

"That settles it, then." Margaret said. "You are all dismissed."

The attitude in the room was quite relaxed. In the room, King Jon Harstad VII sat next to his brother, Ivan Harstad, the Minister of Defense and High Commander of the Asendavian Military. They were discussing the upcoming XII Olympiad. "So," Jon began. "How do you think our athletes will do?"

"I think they'll do they alright," Ivan paused and took out a cigarette. He put it between his lips and lit it. "They most likely won't shame us. Some of them, at least."

Jon nodded. "Which one do you think will do the best?"

Ivan took a list out of his pocket and put it on the table. His eyes skimmed over the list and he marked two names with a pen. Torbjorn Birkeland and Anja Lunde. He put the pen away and handed the list to Jon. "Those two will probably do the best."

"Why do you think they will do the best?" Jon asked as he looked at the marked names.

Ivan shrugged and exhaled smoke. "I've heard that they're the most talented people entering."

Jon nodded again. "What about those will do the worst?" Jon handed the list back to Ivan.

Ivan grimaced. He took his pen out again and marked one name. Bergljot Silnes. He handed the list back to Jon. "I'm amazed that they even qualified," he commented.

Jon sighed. "What about the others in the Women's Marathon?"

Ivan shook his head. "They're not that good either. One's almost as bad as Silnes and the other one is better, but still not that good," Ivan took the cigarette butt in the ashtray and lit another one.

"Let's go back to the GOOD ones," Jon replied.

Ivan looked at the list and marked a few more names. Ansgar Berge, Asbjorn Hauge, and Hakon Bakke. Once again, he handed the list to Jon. "These are our male archers competing. I would say the worst is Hakon, but even then he's good. Meanwhile, I think the best would be Ansgar. He's not as good as Anja, but he's close."

Jon glanced at the names and took a sip of water. "I'll trust your word," He paused. "Now, shall we leave, or is there anything more to discuss?"

Ivan sat in thought for a few moments. "Well, it's not related to the XII Olympiad, but there is that war in Aurora..."

To Artemis Gay, the thirteen hour flight from McLendal to Novonaya was not the worst thing in the world. No, that would be reserved for the woman sitting next to him on the Furnifold-chartered airliner. She just would not sit still! Stirring around, readjusting her seat, moving the armrest up and down, nudging him accidentally. Clearly, she had never been on a plane before. These competitors have no experience with flying, hopefully they have more experience with their respective sports, Artemis thought. Her name, Kiga Samul-something-or-another, didn't ring any bells with Artemis. He was pretty sure he would be the best competitor from Furnifold, and most likely the one to medal.

And why wouldn't he? He's essentially been the best Table-Tennis player in Furnifold since 2005, and even with an extended hiatus, he is currently ranked in the top-20 Urth-wide. Gay's demeanor betrayed none of the internal judgement of the rest of Furnifold's competitors, his face remarkably stoic surrounded by such inexperience and youth. Though only thirty, Artemis was one of the oldest and most experienced competitors in Furnifold. During his hiatus, brought about after losing miserably in the opening round in tournament in 2009, he reflected upon his life, his drive, and his passion for the sport. He determined his life is defined by his drive and his passion, and he would not stop, because for him, stopping would mean death.

Shaken out of his stupor by a tap from his neighbor, Kiga Samul-something-or-another, Gay looked at her. She was motioning for him to get up and to use the bathroom, the third time in the past two hours she has done so. Artemis obliged, cursing his desire not to arrive on a private jet. He dug around in his backpack underneath the seat, and pulled out an inhaler, taking a quick puff of it, instantly feeling better. Only a few more hours, then it will be time to practice and prepare my cocktail as instructed. The games will be starting soon, and I need to have everything ready beforehand

TV Schedule for Olympic Coverage

6th July: Opening Ceremony
Spaam's delegation is one of the smallest, with only ten athletes marching (the cricket teams are arriving later), but they are sure to be one of the most stylish. Sailing star Viessa Virra is our flag bearer.

7th-11th July: General Coverage
No Spaamanians are in action until the 12th, but we will be showing a selection of all sports during this time.

12th-16th July: Equestrian (Dressage)
Dressage is not one our best events, but Sheera Ellar will be looking for a medal with her horse Rainbow Dash.

17th-20th July: General Coverage
No Spaamanians are in action until the 21st, but we will be showing a selection of all sports during this time.

21st-29th July: Badminton (Mixed Doubles)
Not one of our best hopes, we are unlikely to get past the group stage in the first three days.

22nd-25th July: Equestrian (Eventing)
Spaam's pet event, this is the one to watch. There is a chance for multiple medals in this competition.

26th-28th July: General Coverage
Spaam are unlikely to be playing these days, but we will be showing a selection of all sports during this time.

29th July-7th August: Tennis (Mixed Doubles)
Make sure you are watching on the 29th July, because we probably won't be getting past the first round.

We are an outside chance to make it to the medal race on the 7th, but it should be thrilling to watch.

Olympics rolls around again: Will Electrum be finally knocked off its top perch?

Given the serious sporting pedigree behind Kelssek and Vekaiyu, it is probable that Electrum's record of topping the medal tally for the past four Olympic Games will come to an end. The 12th Olympiad Electrumite team is mainly an ageing one, with most names from the previous Olympics being retained for this edition, due to a lack of funding to the Electrum Olympic Committee by the Electrumite government. This is because of money being diverted from the Sports department to other pressing issues, such as the recent Euran refugee crisis and recent adjustments in the budget due to Electrum joining the Common Rushmori Community. As a result, the EOC weren't able to hold selection trials for many sports. In a spot of good news however, most of Electrum's former medallists are returning once again to the Olympics.

This situation, compared to the host's enthusiasm and recent track record in the Olympics means that it will be very hard for Electrum to even top the table. This is especially true when a good source of Electrumite medals, the swimming, will be held in Vekaiyu, where it is virtually their national sport. Kelssek meanwhile, have already hosted the Summer and Winter Olympics as well. This means their athletes also enjoy the same advantages Electrumite athletes usually have, which is access to sports infrastructure and an extensive support network. In their Olympics that they hosted, they came second in both as well. It is for these reasons that it becomes very possible for Vekaiyu to leapfrog Electrum in the all-time Olympic Medal Table from 5th to 4th.

Much like the innovative Games of the X Olympiad, which saw athletes go to Centralis and Nassau Bay, these Olympics will be jointly held in two cities and nations as well: Novonaya, Kelssek and Provinsk, Vekaiyu. Unike Centralis and Nassau Bay, which were only about a few hours train ride away from each other, the two cities are about six and a half hours apart by train, or three by plane. This makes it harder, although not impossible, for die-hard fans to watch events in one city in the morning, and then leap on the train and watch more events in the night. Vekaiyu hosts the aquatics events and the team sport events (save for volleyball), with Kelssek hosting all of the other sports.

As usual, there are a select few amount of sports that we are all hoping to do well in. We don't necessarily say that these events are guaranteed medal wins for Electrum, but given our recent history in these sports, it is likely that Electrum will put in a respectable performance in. Being the sophisticated people that we are, these are also our national sports, especially tennis and sailing. In this first article, I will discuss two of our top hopes, in the next, I will discuss three of our other top hopes.

TENNIS
Electrum's hopes are pinned on Sonya Gredello and Rosa Levinsky, affectionately known as Ronya. They have won the gold medal in the women's doubles every year since the Kytler Peninsula games (3 editions in a row). They are the heavy favourites this year as well, but as they come out of a period of inactivity playing lower quality players on the domestic circuit instead of participating in the international NSTT circuit, they may not have enough match practice to make a deep run into the draw. Nonetheless, they have played and defeated so many skilled players over the years that they have a wide breadth of experience to draw upon. Where other teams might fail, they may make it just over the line. The draw is expected to be very tough for them, with many nations sending their top rated talent into the women's doubles competition especially with the likes of Alma Semmes and Marla Gerard from Neu Engollon and Mattijana's Lara Basiĉ and Dominika Lisicki being present in the draw too. These three pairs are all in the mix. With a lot of NSTT talent it will be hard to see who will win. Regardless, with other excellent players like Carmichael Brown and Malcolm Press floating around in the men's events as well as the doubles, hopefully Electrum can at least win a few medals here.

SAILING
Surrounded by land on three sides, the area of Portsmouth is a sailing mecca around the world, hosting the Centralis sailing events. It has been the home of Electrum's very best sailors with former medallists including Ha Trinh and Edward Franks being our best hopes in their respective one-person dinghy events. The problem is they're not in Electrum, they're in Kelssek, which means they have to contend with different weather conditions than usual. This means the Kelssekian sailors, such as Duncan McCourt, are expected to do well, with McCourt hoping to improve on his bronze medal winning ways from Aeropag. Also expected to do well are the West Phoenicians, who also won a few medals last time, with Roccio Salvador hoping to improve on her silver. Sailing is a sport very few nations do exceptionally well in because of the prohibitively high costs such as infrastructure to store the sailboats, the boats themselves, and recreating that atmosphere of racing against nations. It is a whole different kettle of fish when comparing sailing by yourself and sailing in a race where special rules such as self-enforced penalty turns and disqualifications apply.

To be continued...

‘Dammit.’

For the umpteenth that evening Danté Tostado cursed himself and several other members of Sargossa’s sporting elite. They’d had months to compile a delegation to compete at the Summer Games in Kelssek and Vekaiyu. Months. But for various reasons delays occurred and the time ticked away. Eventually the official entry documentation had been completed, checked, re-checked and duly dispatched to the offices of NOVPROVOC with little time to spare. It was then re-re-checked and a subsequent amendment was sent in its wake. Now, as the deadline loomed ever closer, Tostado awaited the official confirmation.

278(0)

Still nothing. The wait was unbearable. On the floors below him the Olympic Authority offices had long since emptied, only the man in charge and a crew of cleaners remained. By his right elbow a glass of spiced rum went forgotten. Tostado shuddered at the prospect of missing the deadline, he knew the price of that eventuality. Political wrangling had kept the nation out of the Tenth Games and many, many heads had rolled in the aftermath. As they had after the Eleventh Games when Sargossa fell from 3rd in the medal table in Zube to 28th in Aeropag.

Tostado, a former Chef de Mission of two previous Sargossan Olympic delegations, had been elevated to head of the Olympic Authority (OAS) following the resignation of previous incumbent Cesáreo Espinoza, who proved unable to shrug off the post-Aeropag criticism. Tostado had been charged with lifting the nation’s sporting spirits, failing to make it onto the plane because of being slow with the paperwork hadn’t exactly been the plan.

279(1)

The ding sent Tostado straight to his screen. There it was, official confirmation from the organising committee. He let out a small sigh of relief before draining the rum in one swig. He tapped at his keyboard, composing an email to the OAS Executive members. It was short and succinct.

We’re in.

Draeset News Network Headquarters, Draeset, Tretrid, 1:00 PM PDT, July 5, 2017
He thought it would be simple.
But it was not.

But to Kevin Rogers, one of the anchors to the Draeset News Network, the choice on whether to cover the XII Olympiad was anything but simple.

Thankfully, it was not his shift, or he would have to consider the matter while reading out the day's events. And that would never go well.

The network had been debating on whether they should be covering the Olympics, as well content like the news, but the debate lasted so long that they were going to have to make their final choice the day right before the start. A vote was made the previous day, but while he abstained, the others had voted a tie, and it was up to him to cast the deciding vote.

While Rogers was deliberating the matter, something that didn't come to mind during the argument came to mind. TBC (Tretrid Broadcasting Corp.) had announced that they would be covering the events.

DNN was completely private, like TBC. Like TBC, it needed an edge over its competition, so they could get more revenue. So he made his choice.

The network announced that it would cover the Olympiad.

Who from the Britonish Delegation are we expecting to win medals?
LIKE (4,532) | MORE

Britonisea is one of the largest delegations in the Olympic Games this time around, which harks back to the X Olympiad in New Gelderland and Electrum, where Britonisea had it's first credible performance at an Olympics. There is no doubt that those times of being far from getting a single medal are gone, but now that we have broken on to the scene, the next question that needs to be answered is "Can we better ourselves in terms of the position on the final medal table?" Well, a lot of funding has been put in to training the athletes for this Olympic Games, in fact, it is almost double the amount spent for the X Olympiad, where Britonisea won 4 gold medals. Eventhough the government is throwing a lot of money in to the Olympics, that does not mean that success will be translated - that is up to the medal hopefuls themselves. They can chose to spend the money wisely, and help themselves train properly, or they can waste it on things they think they will need in time for the Games.

The second largest Britonish delegation ever (New Gelderland and Electrum; 548, Paripana; 448) has already arrived in one of the two countries they need to be in before the official start of the Games, which is quite early this year; 6th July 2017. Hosted by Novonaya, Kelssek and Provinsk, Vekaiyu, the two nations bring hope to the Britonish audience, who will be fixated to their television screens over the summer, though more importantly, it brings hope to the Britonish delegation, who are hoping for an improved medal haul, up 4 medals from last year's total of 21. The Britonish think they can do it, and think they could even pass their medal target. Only time will tell.

Let's go through some of the expected medal winners.

Aron Semon and Cherry Mates; These two are participating in the Men's and Women's Singles Archery competition respectively, and both are on their A-Game. While Britonisea has taken a break from participating in the NSAO, they have been trying to perfect their technique at home, to prepare for the Olympic Games. While other sports in the Britonish Delegation thinks that it is essential to go abroad to do well in the international competition, they have used the money to teach them excessively. There is no reason why Aron Semon and Cherry Mates won't place in the final top 10 when the finals of the Archery competition take place. Aron Semon, especially, should be feeling lucky after the birth of his son. He said that he felt elated about his son's birth, and he would love to him proud.

Pasquale Treadaway; Pasquale is participating in the Men’s 50 m Freestyle in Swimming. The short and quick distance is perfect for Pasquale who recently burst on to the scene with a fast time of 23.01 during the Britonish Swimming Open 2015. The 20 year old swimmer tells people that eventhough he is young, and he may make mistakes, he is ready for the Olympic battle, and he will not back down ever, and he is going to prove those who believe he is a quitter wrong. Pasquale is known for his very controversial behaviour during Swimming meets. In the Britonish qualifying, he argued with the officials after he thought that the time he actually got was tampered with during his Men's 200m race. Due to his abrupt behaviour, he was disqualified from the event, and therefore is not representing Britonisea in that event, despite him winning the race. This was passed down to second placed Raphael Bruns, who is not expected to cause trouble to the better swimmers from the international community.

The Men's Synchronised Swimming Team; When it comes to the pool, this is where Britonisea has a chance to shine. Having won two medals over the past two Games in 2015 and 2016, it is expect that the Team emulates their success here. The Men's Synchronised Swimming Team has been idolised in the Britonish media for being strong medal hopefuls, and saviours of getting young males in to the pool. In fact, after their victory, the Britonish Swimming Organisation have opened many more aquatic centres in major cities, some of which have a "Men in Swimming" program, to enrol as many boys to swimming as possible. Hopefully, this means we will have more Synchronised swimmers, but also swimmers who race - or even Water polo athletes.

Jayden Ultimate and Jason Hall; When it comes to the track, everyone steps aside as they are no match for this dynamic duo. Jayden Ultimate and Jadon Hall, the one who changed his name to Jason to make him distinguish from Jayden, are expected to win a medal each at the Games of the 12th Olympiad. In 2015, Jason Hall won the Men's 800m, being one of only four gold medalists for Britonisea. Due to this, the Paripana Sporting Council allowed Jason to have a bye in to the Olympics, after the much-liked (in Britonisea anyway) qualification process took place. The Britonish hopeful, though, crashed out of the tournament at the last hurdle - the Semi Finals. However, this only paved the way for Jayden Ultimate, who stormed to victory, making the two the most known Britonish athletes, along with the likes of Mario Atletico and Dave Vatenfall, who we will speak about later. Both Jayden and Jadon are neck-on-neck, and it is unsure who will beat the other one to the race for their second gold medal.

Arsenal McGriffin; Arsenal has been on top form for the past few months in the Men's Long Jump, and is expected to win a gold medal for the Britonish team in the Olympics. In the XI Olympics, Arsenal McGriffin won the silver medal, only a few centimetres away from the gold. He went home devastated, despite his amazing Olympic result - something he was proud about in the end. Arsenal says that he has been on a strict regime, and he hopes that the regime pays off. Arsenal is up against tens of other athletes participating, saying the same thing. Arsenal McGriffin is ready for the fight to be the Olympic Champion, and he truly deserves it.

Please come back for more tomorrow, including tennis stars destined to win the Gold, Men's relay in athletics, and even hockey - and yes, you read that correctly! Comment how many medals you think we will get below, and don't forget to like the article.

COMMENTS BELOW

Anonymous: I honestly think that the Britonish team will do well this time around. I am a bit nervous for them because Electrum and New Gelderland are nations that the Britonish would be comfortable in. I hope the XI Games proved that the result we got in the X Games was not a one-off, and we mean business...
SportyGirl2008: @Anonymous I totally agree with you, I think that we will do better this time than the X Games. I do have hope in us.
JuliaGrace: I don't have hope in us, hardly anyone takes us seriously anyway.
MaxBarrie: @JuliaGrace That is typical Britonish attitude, right there.

Xterminator: I am not so sure guys, I don't want everything to be so hyped up. At the end of the day, we should take every day as it comes and not put all this pressure on athletes to do well. It's the participation that counts right?
SillySausage: NO. WE NEED TO WIN EVERYTHING.

SamEdd: Yaaaas Britonisea, go in to the Olympics and slayyyyyy. You will do fantastically. Even if you come in with no medals, I will be proud of y'all. But obvs get medals.

Royal Kingdom of Quebec Delegation to stay on mysterious Zeppelins for 2030 Olympic Games

Image
Hell's Angel, one of two zeppelins for Quebecois "Olympic Family, Friends and Supporters", on its test flight near Val d'Or last month.Kristin Brown

MONTREAL, ML - They often say that the olympic village is like a small enclave where all the actual actions take place, from people of farthest parts possible meeting each other to jackrabbits flying all around the village. Heck, that's probably the beauty of olympics for many athletes and not to forget, journalists. So what if this happens on a smaller scale, but with lot more familiar groups of people on a really small space? On top of that, being able to do so in middle of the sky?

Right. You have never heard of this before, most likely because it's a project that's been in works for such a long time, that not even the most persistent of reporters would have been able to continue.

With just a day left before hundreds of Quebecois men and women head to Novonaya and Provinsk, at least a half a day away from Quebec via aeroplane, rumours have surfaces that the Royal Kingdom of Quebec delegation, both athletes and coaches present, will be staying on two airships named Hell's Angel and Beheaded Rapist and Republican - 35,000 feet above Novonaya and Provinsk, where all the fun and excitement promised by the East Pacific nations will take place.

Unlike in Paripana Games, where the second cruise ship was provided for those the RQOC termed as the "Olympic Family, Friends and Supporters", they will be given their accommodation within the airships. For example, according to Alexandre Bousquet's latest l'Instagramme post, canoeing legend Maxine Cadieux's husband is assigned a 6-person suite for the couple and their 4 children.

But what made this happen? When asked earlier this year about the plans, the RQOC vice-president Alizée Thariwiennes, previously told the Gazette that Team Quebec, like in past 2 olympics, will continue with their different living arrangement to ensure maximum privacy and security. While the security has never been a problem in either Kelssek or Vekaiyu, given their remarkable political stability and strong police strong presence, what happened in Kytler Peninsulae almost 2 decades ago nonetheless is still being used as a key guide for security measures, causing them to may as well enjoy the options they are provided with.

"An engineering marvel on its own right, this airship was originally planned to be used for commercial purposes about 50 years ago," Jeremy Kim, current captain and son of the original designer of Hell's Angel Alexis Kim, told the Gazette. "There'll be one for the delegation in Novonaya, and other for those in Provinsk. These are only two we've heard of so far, when it comes to the airships or anything aerospace we've heard of." When asked on where exactly above Novonaya or Provinsk the airships will fly above, Mr. Kim declined to comment, stating that it's not up to him to tell at this point.

The airship housing the athletes and the staff members of Provinsk delegation will be the smaller of two, 420t payload Hell's Angel operated by Imperial Pacific Cruises, which bills itself as the "Leader of Luxury Cruising, for everybody." The ship's capacity at 1111, The Hell's Angel will be housing roughly 666 peoples. For the airship housing those of the Novonayan delegation, the much bigger 666t payload, 1812-capacity Beheaded Rapist and Republican will be operated by Bookdoh Cruise Line, which will contain 1111 peoples for the duration of the campaign.

Despite the massive airships drawing the attention of people, the Quebecois authorities have made sure to keep low details about the journey- until they arrive in Provinsk and Novonaya after a week of fun and fitness. In one part they're still staying mum about the details regarding the airships. For example Anthea Burke, the spokesman for the Royal Quebecois Rowing Association, refused to comment on a reporter's question asked earlier today about how the transportation will work for athletes between their competition venues and the airships. She listed security as the reason for not disclosing the method, but instead emphasised that it is absolutely important to provide space for those who work to earn their spots.

"RQOC's current stance regarding our athletes' stay in respective olympic villages remain because we believe that our athletes should maintain not only the best time preparing for their athletes, but also that they get best possible rest and quality time with their friends and families."

She also said that RQOC, besides the common misconceptions, does not have any policy against Quebecois athletes visiting their respective olympic villages and surrounding areas, as well as their non-designated airship if they wished to. When asked if there is a curfew for the athletes, she said that there's none: "We are not in kindergarten, that's all I have to tell you on that. But, if there's one thing that our athletes have to remember, it's that our space is there for their needs and concerns, as well as their safety and comfort."

A RQOC spokesman declined to specify the plans, saying it will be released on the very day of departure for the Quebecois delegation. Those who will be part of it already received information about the arrangements, he said, but they have signed an agreement to provide it the confidentiality until time comes.

In the meanwhile, the much-passionate groups of Quebecois fans will be making their way through a separate airship named Country Boy Twerk It For Me operated by Redneck Cruise Lines based in Gotham, Terra Henrius. The company listed the 1,111t payload Led Zeppelin's capacity at 6,666 guests. It's one of the largest, if not the largest, cruise airships in the Multiverse active in operation. While the olympic organisers confirmed the ship's presence, they did not say much in order to keep itself from further spotlight, security concerns notwithstanding.

A company spokeswoman for Redneck Cruise Lines declined to give information, saying it was bound by contract not to disclose details.

Novonaya and Provinsk Games 2030 : Arlene Lafontaine to be Team Quebec Flagbearer

- Image Not Available -[/align]

L.J. Bergman-Jones

5-time Olympic medalist Arlene Lafontaine has been chosen to carry the Tricolour and Taegeuk for Royal Kingdom of Quebec at Friday's Novonaya and Provinsk 2030 opening ceremony.

The 27-year old native of Montreal, Montreal, was picked ahead of the likes of wrestler Celena Nesbitt and basketballer Riley Jeon-Keane after highly competitive voting process that took 5 rounds and 2 tiebreaker stages earlier this week.

Lafontaine, who has remained silent about her post-olympic plans amid oceans of retirement rumours, is the second woman to serve as the Quebecois flagbearer.

"To lead Team Quebec, it will be a great honour, something that highlights all I've worked for," she said.

Lafontaine, the 2020 Centralis Games gold medalist in women's 100m breaststroke, also won 3 medals in 2024 Aeropag Games in Women's 400m Individual Medley, Women's 4x100m Freestyle Relay (silver), Women's 4x200m Freestyle Relay (bronze).

"I've always had great memories in olympic games and though much older physically, I am even more focused mentally and will be 100% aiming at winning in Provinsk," Lafontaine added. "The privilege that I have, in being the flagbearer for the Tricolour and Taegeuk is a moment I will remember all my life and will carry it as I enter into unknown chapters of my career."

Following her remarkable performance during the national team trials in Kingston last February, Lafontaine will be swimming in Quebecois record 13 events in Provinsk, including 3 relay events. It's a feat that many people, both home and abroad and regardless of her results, will remember her for - Lafontaine's remarkable career from her debut as a 17-year old phenom, 21-year old superstar and now, 27-year old veteran well-learned from her longtime coach Rebecca James of Schottia (who has also made her comeback in her years away).

With Lafontaine's selection, she joins a selected hall of 3 athletes who enters the Parade of Nations in Summer Olympic Games. Handballer Joanna Wex led Team Quebec into Olympic Tower 6 years ago, while fencing legend Marcel Cody-Yi was selected for the 2020 Nassau Bay & Centralis Games.

A 420-person Royal Quebecois Olympic Committee selected Lafontaine to be the flagbearer after each sport put forward athletes to a shortlist. The shortlist, which was later leaked to the media, was found to have Celena Nesbitt (wrestling), Riley Jeon-Keane (basketball), Adrian Rezende Souza (volleyball) and Victoria Han (athletics), as well as Lafontaine herself.

Cohosts Vekaiyu and Kelssek have each respectfully chosen swimmer Ikrisia Sulevire and rugby player Ciara anDeòir, a fitting tribute to the nations' strengths in both aquatics and rugby.

The Eastfieldian team have selected three-time medalist gymnast Ilyas Read, a shining star of Eastfieldian sports, while Spaam have nominated sailor Viessa Virra in their small-sized delegation.

The olympic ceremony begins at 22:30 Central Time (21:30 Manitoba Time, 23:30 Maritimes Time, 0:00 Newfoundland-Labrador Time) on Friday night.

There were several notable athletes representing Vangaziland in Olympiad XII. One of Vangaziland's top golfers finally made his way into the Olympics, Lyon Metals. Anne Benlap won the Gold in Women's BMX during Olympiad XI. The men's basketball team won the gold last year and brought lots of coverage to those players throughout the Vannish Empire. The women's volleyball team also put on a good run.

Shara Carden placed third in last edition's Ancient Pentathlon. It was a demonstration event. This time, Carden would swim in the 10km Marathon. It was her fighting spirit that made her a standout for the Vannish delegation that year. She'll hope to make an impact again. The cameras would be watching her.

Vangaziland's rabid sports media would keep an eye on all of its athletes. Different networks would cover different events. There would also be online streams and an on-demand feature.

Millions will be watching. One person will garner even more attention than those listed above.

Image

Prince Fritjof Vang sat down for an interview with a major cable news network before flying out to join the team in time for the start of the event. It aired on the buildup to the first broadcast. He had been training for a sailing event, the one-person dinghy, for some time.

He's sailed throughout his life. His 'knarr' is well known on the rivers of Emeros. The 'Bearded Axe' is the Imperial Royal Family's replica of an old Scandinavian vessel.

"it's not the same at all", Prince Vang said. "It's a completely different type of boat.. Different type of rigging. But there are certain fundamentals. The knarr is just one ship though. I also don't run it alone. That wasn't my first boat either."

He later added, "I had to train hard though. I've been working with the top coaches."

'Prince Fritz' was in the Army, only leaving the service several months ago. He was asked how hard it was to train while still serving as an Officer.

"It wasn't impossibly hard to work into the routine. There is a lot of gym stuff and other things to do off the water. There were also certain accommodations made to get me out there. It was a forty-five minute drive to the water. But I went daily."

Prince Vang competed in the World Sailing Championships recently. He failed to win a medal, but he won a few races. More importantly, he showed he was more than a gimmick. He had some skill, but was still refining it. He was also in good shape because of his recently ending career as a soldier.

His workouts shifted to become a total program geared towards building the right athletic skills for the event. He spent a decent sum of money to hire not only the best Vannish coaches, but one or two international coaches as well. They helped him work with different techniques and shared experience.

As somebody who sailed boats as advanced as Old World Replicas, the Prince had experience of his own that helped him in his new sport.

"I started sailing competitively because I felt it would be the easiest sport for me to transition into. I've always been on the water. We're Vangazi. That's our past. I'm here to represent The Empire."

West Phoenicia did not do so bad at there first Summer Olympic games in Aeropag. Pulling 8 medal wins and placing first in men's baseball.
West Phoenicia returns with a large force looking to scoop up more medals and continuing in getting there name out there on the international sporting circuits.

There motto for these games is have fun, work hard and make West Phoenicia proud.

The West Phoenician Olympics Committee warmly thanks Novonaya, Kelssek and Provinsk, Vekaiyu for hosting the international sporting event.

All in for a second win:

The following are former winners returning to continue their glory.

200m Butterfly

Allan Komad is back in fighting form to show West Phoenicia and the world he is not a one trick silver pony. He is aiming for either a silver or gold and is registered for the 100m and 200m Butterfly swimming event. Where he plans to swim the butterfly but sting like a bee.

Greco-Roman Wrestling-69kgs

Lady Tanashay Zimbabwe is back after tasting bronze at the Aeropag Summer Olympic Games. Tanashay is hoping to add a second medal to her cabinet but taking out a gold, silver or bronze at the XII Olympiad.

Pommel Horse

Daniel Israeli stunned all of West Phoenicia by pulling in a gold medal on the Pommel Horse at the Aeropag Summer Olympic Games. The nation is hoping for a similar result at these games, to keep their golden boy golden.

Women’s Sailboard

Roccio Salvador was a class act. Her whole life and hard work came down to representing West Phoenicia and she didn't let her country down. She pulled in a silver and hopes for more of the same. She will have some stiff competition especially from Electrum, another sailing nation who has just as much to prove in the sailing world. But Roccio has the heart, the drive and increased funding from the Sailing Federation of West Phoenicia.

Synchronized Swimming-Women's Duet

Water Polo - Men's

The West Phoenician Mermen had a great run at the first International Water Polo Competition especially after a bad run at the Aeropag Summer Olympic Games. The Mermen return with added confidence they can take on any team that challenges them.
With an international competition win under their belt, the men's water polo is aiming for a medal win. It will be harder with more entrants, but the Mermen have the spirit to fight to the end.

Archery:

One only has to look at the current NS Archery tournaments that have been going on to see that West Phoenicia is making a name for itself in archery circles. Of course Amelia Defence, the queen of archery may have rattled a few cages, but her two third place finishes ought to give her thoss bragging rights as well as ranking 2nd in the archery tournaments overall. Other great West Phoenician archers to keep an eye out for are Pete Long and Marion Hood. Both in the top 8, Pete Long has placed 2nd in a past tournament and Marion Hood is the latest bullseye winner. With an improved ethic and desire any of these three could end with a medal win.

Triathlon:

Be prepared to either see Ben Church or Noni Poseidon take out a medal in Triathlon. Both are hard working athletes who have pulled first place wins in other international sporting events. Many teams are not sending overly qualified Triathlon athletes. One of West Phoenicia's main competition for gold may lie with the nation of Mattijana who are also sending some powerhouse performers.

Taekwondo–Women’s 49 kg

Jin Swannie is West Phoenicia's best chance for a medal win in Taekwondo. It is one of the sports being reviewed for budget cuts and overall it is not a strong delegation being sent. However if anyone from the Taekwondo team can win it will come down to the 24 year old who desires to win a medal and some day open her own Taekwondo studio to teach new generation.

Whitey Tea Awe is the best chance that West Phoenicia has when it comes to rowing. It is not a sport that draws the fans and members of the Rowing team had to obtain extra financial support from sponsors to attend these games after there funding was slashed. However if anyone can raise the rowing profile of the nation it is Whitey Tea Awe , one of out top female rowers.

Hockey–Men’s

The men's hockey team is in a great position at the XII Olympiad to pull in a meal win. Dwayne Cinnamon/Maximillan DoggPrince Wadjmose Bush-Dallas will be a force to be reckoned with. They want to be the first West Phoenician team to break into fencing on an international level, and winning a medal at the XII wil help give them the boost they need.

Equestrian

Jocelyn Rhodes is apart of a very strong Equestrian team. West Phoenicia breeds some of the best horses. However there are also many other nations which have strong Equestrian teams, and it is always going to be a challenge to secure a medal win. However if they can pull a win in any of the Equestrian events it will be a great feather in their caps.

Cycling–Women’s Team Sprint

Tristan Dallas/Princess Mariamne Dallas-Bush hope to boost the image of Cycling in West Phoenicia. Cycling is popular as a hobby but they do not have such a large fan cheering them on and it is not supported by many in their home nation. These girls will definitely be the underdogs considering the calibre of some of the other cycling teams attending from around the world. But if they make it through the heats, they have a great chance to pull a medal win.

Franky Philo is returning to compete in the Triple Jump. Ricky Parramatta is a star on the rise who will also be a contender for the Men’s 1 500 m. While failing to achieve a medal at the previous games, he did go on to medal glory with other international athletics events and hopes to bring that experience to these games to add an Olympic gold medal to his list of achievements.

West Phoenicia plans to send a large delegation of athletes, we wish that all of them could bring home a medal, but we know that is not possible. The United Pagan Faith and West Phoenicia State Church send all there blessings and prayers to all players. Faith guides will be among the support staff heading to the Olympics to listen to prayers and offer spiritual support during the duration of the games.
