IMAGINATION ‘PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE’ AS FUEL, CLAIMS NEXUS RACING
Chief Sports Correspondent
Caitlin Morris

A statement issued by Nexus Racing's spokesman Karl Rain following action against the team by the WGP2 committee for use of Imagination convertors in its powertrain has claimed that Imagination is 'perfectly acceptable' for use in the formula.

The statement from the Nimban team's Head of Communications and Public Relations argues that 'use of a psionic power source in a racing car is and has never been prohibited or even mentioned under WGP2 rules, nor the rules of the WGPC', its parent series, and that it must be allowed 'in the interests of respecting diversity in car design'.

More to follow as this story develops.

You do not know how hard I was grinning by the end of your post, Vangaziland. This demands a response from the Ministerial Offices!

Excellent! RP is always more fun with a multiplayer storyline. I definitely went with that angle to stir some sort of RP up. I think his driver ratings definitely explain the result. And that is good info. Starting the 11th page of RP, the league is looking strong! Lots of room for teams to jump into the lead too.

I had more fun writing about the lap 2 burnout than Jang's win last week, which I kind of skipped, I think...

Another trainwreck for Novikov. I apologize to V&T and The Iron Syndicate for the team's performance so far. I'm kinda doubting my entry to the WGPC next year now...

I wouldn't do that. Your character has an established track record of success. It could be an RP bonus thing, it could be the driver stats conflicting with the car sent for this tournament. Stats can be refined and you could try a different car stat for WGPC Novikov. But I wouldn't get worried, there is also still time. Two wins would give any driver the lead. A couple drivers are one win away. There's a ton of time on the schedule.

Even if you didn't want to bring Novikov in, I'm sure Talvela will be one of the most scouted free agents. I know at least one team that would sign him..

Seconded on all counts; I would particularly be sorely disappointed if the promised rivalries with Ryker and Jean - who are probably both going to be on the same team, just to make matters worse for Terho - went undeveloped.

I don't know, I'm feeling the same way as Aboveland. I'm not even complaining about the results or the hosting, it just doesn't feel coherent enough to get into it like I got into last season. Last season I had some terrible results along with the good ones, and my team was worse off before the buyout happened midseason, but it at least felt like it correlated to the circumstances. Team owner doesn't post much, the team performs bad because of it, etc. This time, it feels more random. There's multiple teams RPing and not seeing any success from it, no driver has really established themselves by getting multiple wins, and the bad results seem to come out of nowhere and happen unpredictably, more than in other sports or even the previous WGPC or real life. It's like everybody turned into what Red Bull is IRL.

Again, it's too late to change anything now since we have a new scorinator and there's naturally going to be things to fix with it, but I feel like this has to be addressed before the actual WGPC season or activity is going to be down. Nobody wants to feel like the results are decided by a coin flip, even though that's essentially what scorination is. I can barely even put a coherent storyline together this season, because the results have been more unpredictable than the last.

If I'm back next time it's going to be with my new nation, anyway, but... I just don't know. Starting fresh is hard enough, the big randomness makes that harder.

Hmm. I had assumed that Audioslavia would be using the next iteration of the scorinator that he used for the last WGPC for the coming season; if that is the case then I'm obviously unworried but, if not, then I must say that I do share your concerns.

I think that a good start to improving this scorinator would simply be to put a greater emphasis on roleplaying bonus over fixed statistics when it comes to determining everything. If the decaying bonus system from Audioslavia's Racing Scorinator could be incorporated, that too, in my view, would be excellent in that it would improve the consistency of results and make losses and gains more gradual in nature.

It is way too early to say anything about the results. There have been 5 race weeks. There are about 7 left I think. Also, when so many stats are involved, it's not as random as a coin flip. There are categories that come into effect and the effect has been visible. If any teams aren't doing well, I'd say double check your formulas. If people set their reliability to 2, they shouldn't be surprised when they get a bunch of DNFs. Maybe tweak the balance a little more, like 2.7 or 2.5 or 3.1.. But just giving up or declaring the scorinator "wrong" would be a mistake.

We just saw a team go from last place to mid-pack, and now stand one win away from the lead. There is no coin flip nature to the reason for any team's current success. It's the more defined numerical aspect to race scorination. With what, 6 categories now 3 for car, 3 for driver? Plus the track's numbers? Maybe people think they should win just based on a good practice run or that it's a surprise when some teams don't neccesarily do as well on practice runs, but score a certain way. It's in the numbers... The opposite of a coin flip.

As far as Red Bull, I try to go more for this angle... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mHkfCmoMVs That's my favorite engine sound and we have a slightly different but similar version. One would have to imagine it. It's about establishing our cars' national identity. But Red Bull, we're not.

Edit: After rewatching, I think a big difference on sound would be a deeper sound/more bass on the shifts.. More like a muscle car's rumble, and just a slight bit less of Ferrari's best high pitches.. That should be just different enough.

Edited in the reply.

8/27 - Accidentally double posted before changing this to an edit..
The best part of this series is that each week feels like a real race week. The story has been fun! Especially last week. Definitely adds to the flair. Glad to see RP. I knew Nexus was writing an RP. I often post around that time too, but have been feeling inspired. My stories tell themselves, I just log them. This team talks, that's for sure.

Here's to another fun race week!

My plan is for my most recent post to open up an opportunity for some extensive inter-team roleplaying; let's hope that it does!

We'll write up a meeting and see what they say. That choice isn't up to me. So let check on the characters and see what they think about it... Actually, it could spin certain things off long term..

Edit: I started up a post thing Nexus was offering to install a safety converter of sorts into our cars. It looks like it was Obey offering engines though. I'll have to rewrite.

That is what Nexus Racing are offering... Essentially, Nexus Racing plan to provide two machines (effectively emulators for the parts of the human brain that are involved in conceptualisation) that will convert Imagination to kinetic energy (hence 'Imagikinetic convertors'), in this case manifesting that kinetic energy remotely (they don't need to be built into the car; in fact, they could be anywhere in the universe and have the same effect), to each team, each to protect a given driver, information about whose physical structure is encoded in the machine, from projectiles by literally pushing them away from the body of that driver.

For this weekend? Well, if you check the schedule, there wasn't a race this weekend. Probably due to Labor Day.

I was confused too. Although we have a 'Tag der Arbeit' in Germany, which is basically labour day. It is always on May 1st though and most people simply call it '1. Mai', so I always have to think about whether we have something like that when I read 'labor day'... I mean I could have checked the schedule and wouldn't have been confused, but well...
