In association with the Starblaydia Football Association:

The Fortieth Di Bradini Cup
a.k.a
The 61st Under-21 World Cup

The Valanora Footballing Association proudly presents the fortieth edition of the Di Bradini Cup, the eighth edition of which to be held in the Valanora. Recognized as direct successor to the original Under-21 World Cup run by Total n Utter Insanity, this is also the 61st Under-21 World Cup.

This tournament is named after Starblaydia's most-famous player, the first person to score for Starblaydia's own Under-21s, currently the fifth-highest goalscorer in Starblaydia's history, World Cup Winner, member of the World Cup Hall of Fame and one-time President of the World Cup Committee: Simeone Di Bradini. We present, for your participation: The 40th Di Bradini Cup, a.k.a. The 61st Under-21 World Cup!

Map of Valanora

Valanora Information
The most important thing to know about traveling through Valanora is that automobiles are banned except for government officials. A high tech railway system connects the entirety of the nation, with three international airports in Raynor City, Gladerial, and Baysleef. A ferry from Rinaldi travels to and from the island of Capri every hour on the hour. The most distinguishing feature of Valanora is the prevalent amount of forests standing in many of the inner half of the nation, even in cities, with the elven attempts to live in harmony with nature. Vanorians are a polite if not a bit high on themselves, believing elvenkind to be superior to humans, though they show a respect for the potential their humanoid cousins have.

After a powerful performance in DBC39, the Vans U21 NT has adjusted semi-drastically after the incarceration of NT player, Chip Tyson. With star forward Valentijn Munson off to the NT, and with Nosek signing with a club from Natanians and Nosts, will the UnderVans finally claim their first violet-star title? 40 DBCs in, this is going to be one for the history books.

NEPHARA U-21s
Preferred Formation:
4-4-2
Style Modifier: 0
Playstyle: The 'new style'. Solid in defence, fluid across the wings, hard-pressing, hard-running, hard-tackling. Always moving forward, ideally but not necessarily with quick passes along the floor but unafraid to make devastating long balls across to the opposite flank to throw defences off-guard.
Kit Supplier: Kirola
Captain: Evangeline Aschenbach
Nickname: The Magpies

After a brief flirtation with flowing football along the ground at youth level, Nepharim doctrine has shifted to enforcing the same focus on physicality and solidity at all levels, going back to the traditional Nepharim strength of... strength. Escher Speare is just the person to turn a traditionally underperforming youth side into a side with medal-winning experience as they transition to the senior team.

Staff
Manager - Escher Speare - Age 63
Assistant Manager - Delia Brandon - Age 57

This is Escher Speare's last role in management - fitting, given that her first was as an assistant manager to the national side. She's a firm believer in youth, has a strong view that analytics can be useful in controlled doses and has a proven record of success with North Laithland in the top flight.. She's brought her assistant, Brandon, with her - she's no relation to Michael Brandon, the senior side's assistant.

Goalkeepers
1 - Anthoulis Matraxis (Ritter Town) - Age 21
12 - Sigurd Rustwyth (AFC Treason) - Age 20
20 - Althea Taliadoros (Raven River) - Age 20

Matraxis is starting regularly for a First Division side and has done so since the age of 18, a tall, muscular presence between the posts. Getting the nod to start, though, will be Sigurd Rustwyth, who is also a tall, muscular presence between the posts but has the makings of a genuinely world-class shot-stopper and already sits on Treason's bench. Taliadoros is unlikely to get game time, but is a great reflex shot-stopper.

Defenders
2 - RB - Ruon Asante (AFC Serpentine) - Age 20
3 - LB - Lux Vicelich (Sabrefell Moths) - Age 21
5 - CB - Konrad Vornander (AFC Treason) - Age 21
6 - CB - Esther Vannatter (Brookford Otters) - Age 21 - Vice-captain
13 - CB - Katerina Tarrasch (Cypher Town) - Age 21
19 - LB - Lyre Castor (Starling) - Age 21
22 - CB - Victoria Carroll (Chenoworth Harriers) - Age 21

A fairly strong defence to call upon, fitting into the archetype. Vornander and Vannatter form arguably the best central defence in the tournament, both having proven themselves when called upon at Premiership level. Vornander is a tower of strength while Vannatter, no pushover herself, is very fast. Asante is a sturdy, redoubtable defender first and foremost, while Vicelich, typical for the club she came from, is always eager to pounce forward and overlap. Castor, Carroll and Tarrasch are all capable understudies.

Midfielders
4 - CM - Evangeline Aschenbach (Starling) - Age 20 - Captain
8 - CM - Ferenc Kubala (Raven River) - Age 21
11 - LM - Rowena Strongbow (Cranequin Wanderers) - Age 20
14 - CM - Alessa Marconi (Newrook City) - Age 21
15 - RM - Roxana Coffey (Bishop) - Age 20
16 - CM - Franz Kesteren (Diamondqueen) - Age 21
18 - LM - Dimitra Exarchopolous (Brinemouth) - Age 21
23 - RM - Ishtar Fanaiyan (AFC Serpentine) - Age 20

Aschenbach is the jewel in the midfield crown, boasting a remarkable passing range and propensity for clean tackles, but she's got a suspicion as being injury-prone that even Starling's magic physio's can't quite abate. Alongside her, Kubala mostly just runs around and kicks people, a true box-to-box player. Marconi isn't strong, but she's an elegant playmaker also eligible for Yttribia, while Kesteren's a dirty holding player. On the wings, Fanaiyan (an Iskandrian refugee) and Strongbow are brilliant players charging forward and making things happen, Fanaiyan the more improvisational of the two. Coffey and Exarchopolous are, perhaps, unlucky to miss out on regular starts.

Forwards
7 - RW - Brigitte Coppinger (Violence Chariots) - Age 21
9 - ST - Angela Braugher (Chenoworth Harriers) - Age 21
10 - ST - Tristan Lovelock (Cenial Liberty, CEN) - Age 21
17 - ST - Griffin Riordan (Northern Stallions, BRE) - Age 21
21 - ST - Christos Tsiavis (Morningstar) - Age 21

What was a strength for the side on paper has turned into a relative weak point. Fortunately, some improvisational repositionings and the discovery of some eligible, willing Brenecian has solved things. Brigitte Coppinger is a versatile, fluid forward and will provide the pace and finish while Tristan Lovelock, a glamourous forward trained in the Islander style but with Nepharim muscle, is a dynamic shot in the arm going forward. Angela Braugher is a pure poacher, quick and clever, and a perfect impact substitute against tired defences. Griffin Riordan and Christos Tsiavos are both strikers of the 'physical, aggressive, hard-running' mould. Riordan is essentially Brenecian, but qualifies through his maternal grandmother's birthplace, and is here partially out of merit and partially to troll the Brenecian FA.

Demonym: Alpines
Nicknames: Alpine Union, Alpines, Green & white, Bisons, Reprezentacja Alpejski
Team Colors: Green and white
Formation: 4-5-1

Kits:
The U.S.A.R. doesn't have it's own kits and will use Prusy Krolewskie's kits which home colors are striped green and white kinda like Celtic F.C.'s jersey:
Our away colors are striped blue and black.

Team Schedule (group A)

Matchday 1: Union of Socliast Alpine Republics vs Farfadillis @ Hellgate
Matchday 2: Boring Paradise vs Union of Socliast Alpine Republics @ Hellgate
Matchday 3: Union of Socliast Alpine Republics vs Taeshan @ The Battleground

Head Coach: Aleksandra Kasperczyk
Assistant Coach: Seumas Càidh
Assistant Coach: Zbigniew Blaszczak

Captain: Slawomir Skrzeszewski
Penalty Taker: Przemyslaw Tkocz
Corners (left): Tymoteusz Swierczewski
Corner (right): Elisabeth Nordhaus
Free Kicks: Przemyslaw Tkocz

Team strenghts:
-The starting goalkeeper Tomasz Mikolajczak is a beast. He's 21 and he's expected to join the national team in the future. There won't be a lot of goal scored against Prusy Krolewskie this year (hopefully).
-The centre backs Slawomir Skrzeszewski, Florian Baumgarten (who will play at side back) and Krzysztof Blaszczykowski. Prusy Krolewskie's defense is a wall and not many can pass them.
-The central midfielders Przemyslaw Tkocz, Tobias Götze and Tymoteusz Swierczewski. They control the ball and can pass it well. They also have some speed to their game.

Team weeknesses:
-The side midfielders Kacper Plokarz and Elisabeth Nordhaus. Plocarz isn't that good, he's lucky to make the team and Nordhaus, she has a bright future but she's actually 18. This is our weakest position.
-The striker Sandie McCracken. She's still young but she's our best striker.

Cosumar U21 National Team
DBC 40

Team Information

Nation: The Fiefdom of Cosumar

Government: Cosumar is a Fiefdom, comprised of 21 historical fiefs that act as provinces. Cosumar is a constitutional monarchy with King James II and the King's Congress at its head. The pillars of full civil rights, protecting nature, advancing knowledge, and exploring outer space are held dear.

Region: Atlantian Oceania

Nickname: Junior Dragons

Colors: Royal Blue, Silver, Navy, White

Stadium: The Royal Palace (capacity 54,000) in Ramusok

Team: The roster consists of 24 players, all but two of whom are standard humans (homo sapiens). The remaining players, goalkeeper Na'Kefir and midfielder Va'Negeja, are of the Vloo people (homo cosumarensis), a sentient species native to Cosumar. Vloo are humanoid and slightly taller on average, with pale blue skin and a pair of horns atop their head. The range of athleticism in Vloo is similar to that of humans. You can recognize which players are Vloo by their surnames: which usually begin with the prefixes Na'- or Va'-. Johannes Sulo's U21 squad will play a bit more an attacking style than Alexander Pearce's senior team did in the AOCAF, with the wingers pressing high, a lethal target forward seldom leaving the box and a designated #10 roaming with minimal defensive responsibility. They will try to force mistakes and capitalize on them with quick, up-tempo passing. This generation of young Cosumarite talent includes players already playing prominent roles in the Harlighet Ligan, UICA play and abroad. One, striker Zeale-Riddick, already has senior caps. After defeating Ceni to win Di Bradini Cup 35, the Cosumarite youth will now seek to reclaim youth football's most storied prize.

Donning the uniform of the senior National Team is a prestigious honor (one that must be earned), so our youth teams do not use the same one. Our U21 team wears the old NT kits that were used in World Cup 70 and decommissioned prior to World Cup 71. Courtesy of Meski Sports. The home (left) and away (middle) kits feature the iconic Azure Dragon that resides in Cosumar's wilderness. The goalkeeper kit (right) is swathed in green and gold - the colors of the royal family.

Manager: Tobias Möller, age 46
Assistant: Kaseem Tamir, age 59

Keepers
GK: Berto Palerma, age 20, Baskita FC
GK: Sasa Szatmáry, age 20, Club Stein-los (F)
GK: Lisístrato Ramírez Alvarado, age 21, Hellinic Rouge
Three good keepers who all are playing for their club's reserves teams as the starters. Alvarado is better shot stopper than the other two however, despite a more diminutive frame than Palerma and being slightly slower in the reflexes than Sasa. However what the Hellinic keeper might lack in physical attributes he makes up for in a solid intuition and good decision making, getting him the nod over the other two options.

Defenders
LB: Markus Roth, age 18, Stilinkeep FC
LB: Ciriaco Trevisano, age 21, Club Stein-los
CB: Guðný Ingólfsdóttir, age 21, Tanrısal (F)
CB: Tas Danko, age 21, Mallox Image
CB: Laurent Chandonnet, age 18, Tanrısal
CB: Ralf Bader, age 20, Baskita FC
RB: Linka Polak, age 20, Baskita FC (F)
RB: Dirk Freitag, age 21, Falourr Image
Quick footed Trevisano will be looking to impress his new side as he get the nod out on the left side of the backline, after he and the rest of the Pasargans in Quebec and the Sunrise Islands left those shores. Danko has developed into a solid centerback in his time at Mallox and he could very well be looking at full call ups soon, especially if he can lead the Young Wanderers to a second straight DBC title. Guðný uses her uncharacerstic brawny physique to full effect, allowing the speedy Polak to run along the touchline and put in pinpoint crosses. Bader is a calm presence off the bench while Freitag is a more defensive choice for the right fullback, if changes needed to be made.

Midfielders
AMLR: Toussaint Robitaille, age 21, West Gundar FC Image
RW: Davorka Čerkez, age 19, Hellinic Rouge (F)
MC: Kerecsen Benke, age 20, CA Paulinthal
MC: Matthias Maur, age 20, Club Stein-los
A/MC: Tihamér Szakály, age 20, Tanrısal
A/MC: Jörg Feierabend, age 21, CA Paulinthal
LW: Zsombor Halász, age 20, Stein-los Turkish
LW: Orsolya Gere, age 20, Baskita FC
The strength of Pasargan squads has always been in the midfield and it continues to be so with a plethora of talented players for both the center and the wing. Jörg Feierabend has been given the captaincy with this being his third tournament and given how he has began to develop at CAP, being able to even play as a shadow striker, expect him to be the lynchpin between attack and defense. Gere and Robitaille are both tireless wingers who put in the effort both on the attack and in the defense. Maur however is that defensive presence in the middle that allows it all to flow fluidly both in attack and defense. Szakály has the potential to be as good as Feirarabend but has yet to seen playing time at Tani, while Benke is more of a playmaker than a destroyer but can fill the role for Maur in a pinch.

Strikers
ST: Mücahit Aardenburg, age 20, Club Stein-los
AMC/ST: Alexander Jager, age 16, Dwile Warriors Image
ST: Claudio Romano, age 21, AC Izotz Zubia Image
ST: Katharina Schwarz, age 19, Paulinthal FC (F)
Romano sees himself move from Quebec to the powerful Zozi of Audioslavia thanks to the exploits he provided in the last DBC and he looks to repeat those exploits this edition with his rare combination of speed and power with a nose for goal. However he needs to keep an eye over his shoulder for Alexander Jager, who has burst onto the seen the last year with prolific scoring in the Pasargan Youth Leagues, forcing a move from CAP to Dwile Warriors in Apox. Look for the more sturdy Aardenburg to play the role of supplier to Romano, while Schwarz to come on if the side needs an injection of pure pace.

Quest for the Purple Star of youthful glory Begins

61 U21 World Cups. 40 Di Bradini Cups. Adding on 2 consectutive knockout appearances and a trophy-less trophy room, the Qasden UnderVans seek to bring the tournament prize back to its home region for the first time since DBC35, when Cosumar took the title. Coach Boulevard Drucati, now the manager of Mercedini's Brampton United, has been rallying the team up for this very exact moment. A title that would make Jon Merritt's envious. Indeed, the Di Bradini Cup is by far one of the most difficult tournaments for Qasden to strive in, falling around the same level to that of the IBC, HWC, and NSTT. But in order to bring the cup, complimented with the addition of a violet star on the crest, back to Atlantian Oceania, the Blue-Reds will have to fight. And who better to fight than 3 of AO's finest U21 teams, all within the cities of Gladerial and Valanari.

The plucky UnderVans were the last name left in the draw, finalizing a deadly Group H, holding WC powers Chromatika and Osarius, while also containing ambitious Anthor. Each of these teams possess strange yet significant roles in the multiverse, but one thing can truly be for sure, they must be defeated.

>>>Anthor<<<

Our first match day pits the hungry cats against the ambitious youngsters of Anthor in Valanari. A new team to the U21 eyes, the Anthorians have been known to be relevant faces when it comes to baseball and hockey, those being their specialties. Having reported intentions of earning 3 easy points against TQ, we can assure them that their media will be truly mistaken. While a fun opponent in NT friendlies, our prediction settles a 73% chance of Qad victory, with 42% assuming a shutout.

>>>Osarius<<<

Next up are the fiery firebirds of Osarius, a well-developed team from an eternally blazing country. Indeed, the Osarius U21 team has been responsible as a main feeder into the prestigious NT, a squad having won world cups, AOCAFs, and even invites to the coveted Eagle's Cup. However, one achievement they have yet to declare is the DBC's itself, giving hope to the Qad team itself. Arguably, the prediction polls depict a 40% chance of a win, a 35% chance of a loss, and a 25% chance of a draw, with 58% of win votes being by a single goal.

>>>Chromatika<<<

The finale of our group stage appearance will display a colorful match against the colorless Chromatika in the Duran Palace. Like Osarius, Chromatika's U21 has been responsible for supplying the Chromatik NT with healthy and strong players. Despite having yet to win a World Cup nor an AOCAF, the cosmos ensure to be one of the strongest forces in the multiverse when it comes to 1-on-1. Last time a Qad team played one of the northeasterner's, a complete annihilation of TQ nearly threw them out of the tournament. According to the prediction poll, 54% of citizens have accepted the fact of defeat, while 32% declare a draw and 14% believe in victory.

So with that concludes our look at the Group H adversaries we will be playing next month in Valanora. A top 2 finish would allow Qasden to advance to a third-consecutive knockout session, and would face either the runner up or winner of Group E, home of the eaglets of Mercedini, the youthful anti-Qasdens of Damukuni, the alpaca-lovers of Super-Llamaland, and the Calanian terrors of Semarland.

Can Qasden triumph overall in Group H? Will WC titans reign surpreme in the DBC? Who will be earning that lovely purple star? Only one plate is on the menu, so stay tuned, stay updated, and stay cheeseburger for our next report, comin' in live from the havens of the Eternal Empire!

After two failed attempts to get out of the group, the SFA have punted Kagami Ikeda into touch. The young Kirisakian had initially started out well in her stint as manager of the U21, having previously coached her own nation at U15 level. However, results soon went south, and after consecutive third place group-phase finishes, John McCann has been selected as her replacement. McCann, who has played for Handon United and the Willox Street Pirates, was interim manager with the Pirates last season, where he helped them to the S-L IX title. The 42-year-old, who brings with him assistant Christian Lennel, is likely to go with a slightly more defensive set up.

Team info
It has been a long and difficult ten years, since Schottia have made any real headway in the Multiverse's premier youth competition. Back to back group stage exits, as part of a worrying downwards turn in results, has become a real point of concern for Schottia. With the success the nation have experienced in the IAC, and the last World Cup, the fact that our young players are firing blank should be a call to action. At the moment, the class of DBC-33 are all in their early thirties, and arguably in their prime - the job of John McCann is to find the next Eoin Killanen, Gareth Souter, or Kim Coultan.

When you are staring down the barrel of another difficult campaign, a 17-year-old keeper isn't going to fill you with confidence. McCann has shown faith in Ed Lorrey however, and we may need to do the same. That to one side, the defence does look pretty strong, with the likes of van Cleef and Carlin already established SPL regulars. On top of that, Louis Hordern is probably the best right-back we have had at this level since Bella Thompson, and just has to be an improvement. In the midfield, Dilon Bánach and Krista Morham are both getting first team football at the moment, which is important. Bánach is in the form of her career with Handon United, while Morham is at least getting a lot of games under her belt while Corvistone languish down in the third tier of Nepharim football. The explosive, Enaas Dajani, should also do a job in this side, and it will be interesting to see how the time she has spent at Metropolon Lights has affected her game for the better. In the attack, however, things don't actually look too bad. Ross Renshaw has been winning rave reviews (even if it is in Port Christopher) and should be a decent partner for Lara Wedderburn, the prodigious Cornellians talent. With Lilou Read in reserve, too, they have a very good back up.

In terms of the team's prospects, it's a little early to say. First things first, the mission will be to get out of the group. At Under 21 level it's really hard to say which sides will be the ones to avoid, but the usual suspects such as Pasarga, Ceni, would be good teams not to be drawn with. Given the state of youth football in Schottia, John McCann won't be feeling too much pressure - but however you look at it, Schottia's young players are in desperate need of a confidence shot.

Kits
Home--Reverse--Away

Image
The kits for this World Cup cycle are designed by Schottsport of Schottia

Squad:

Image

Starting XI
GK Ed Lorrey, Image Dundee Warriors, 17. Height: 187cm. Weight: 73kg
Dundee's reserve keeper, Lorrey has a big future in the game. With the only keeper ahead of him at club level turning 38 next year, it seems inevitable that he will be thrust into the limelight sooner rather than later. In terms of his skill set, he has all makings of a top goalie - good handling, tall, and commanding in the area. The only problem is, at 17, he is the youngest players in the squad and lacks competitive experience.

RB. Louis Hordern, Image Handon United, 19. Height: 181cm. Weight: 71kg
One of the jewels in the crown of the Handon United youth system right now; Louis Hordern is likely to play a big part in the title push this season. He is a very solid right-back, dangerous roaming forward, and strong tracking back. He was part of the same United side, which won the Schottic junior championships two years running, recording a good amount of assists for a player in his position. Hordern has played a little at centre-back, but wide right is definitely his preferred position.

LB Beatrice Colgan, Image Regional Development Side C, 20. Height: 179cm. Weight: 69kg
Back after three seasons with St Renée in Nuevo Caracas, U15 WC winner, Colgan, certainly has had a less conventional career path than most teenagers. Having just turned twenty, she signed up for the national academy side, where she is nowplaying football alongside her studies. Probably more robust and experienced than most players her age, Colgan is a hard hitting ball winner, who gives it her all. Having played in Valanora two years ago, she is one of the senior players in this squad.

CB. Grant Carlin, Image New Island, 20. Height: 188cm. Weight: 75kg (c)
Over the last couple of season, Grant Carlin has made the transition from promising teenager, to quality centre-back. The current team captain has been on form for his club, New Island, and a big factor in the success they experienced last season. Carlin is a tall and powerful player, who shows good awareness and composure for his age. Many footballing pundits are already tipping him for a senior cap in the next four years.

CB. John van Cleef, Image Lammerton, 20. Height: 183cm. Weight: 74kg
The versatile Lammerton defender played right-back two years ago, but has now been switched to his more favoured central role by new manager John McCann. He has experience playing in the Hornets first team from a young age, and has also made appearances in UICA football. Van Cleef is smaller, bulkier, and more athletic than Carlin, and his pace probably makes him a good foil for the New Island man.

CM/CF Dilon Bànach, Image Handon United 19. Height: 171cm. Weight: 62kg
It has been an incredible couple of years for Dilon Bánach. Winning the Schottic junior championship, staring on loan at Port James, then thrust straight into the United first team at the age of 19. The girl, who started out as a centre-forward, has interestingly made a name for herself as a central midfielder. Bánach is extremely hard working, and very good at the bread and butter stuff. Although McCann is most likely to employer her in a deeper role, she is also capable of taking players on, and as you'd expect from a former striker, she has a decent eye for goal.

CM Krista Morham, Image AFC Corvistone, 21. Height: 175cm. Weight: 65kg
Last season Krista Morham gambled everything on a move to AFC Corvistone, and, well... kind of lost out. The big spending, and highly ambitions side found that money might well be able to bring you happiness, but it can't bring you the second division title. At 21, she still has plenty of time on her side though, and for a player who came from the Women's Super-League, it's not like the third tier of Nepharim football is a step down in quality. Having watched a couple of her games towards the end of last season, McCann has seemingly had no qualms with sticking the former West Coast Warriors girl into the starting line up. Morham is a very educated individual, and an athlete, who takes training seriously.

RM. Enaas Dajani, Image Metropolon Lights, 18. Height: 168cm. Weight: 62kg
Enaas Dajani made the switch at the start of last season, turning her back on Handon United to peruse a career in emerging footballing nation, Drawkland. I mean, which teenager wouldn't want to fly to another planet? Dajani has been capped at U15 and U18 level, so this is the next step up for her in her career. She is a rapid winger, with a low centre of gravity, who runs at players and gets up quickly after a fall.

L/CM. Stephan Kraus, Image FC Soessch,18. Height: 180cm. Weight: 70kg
Kraus is possibly here to plug a bit of a gap, with the left wing position proving a little difficult to fill at this age bracket. That said, he is a very accomplished young player, who will no doubt go on to bigger and better things. At 18, he has already made a handful of appearances for Soescch in the SLP.

CF Ross Renshaw, Image Blue Coast 1981, 20. Height: 178cm. Weight: 71kg
There may be a few people in Schottia, for whom the name Ross Renshaw is a little unfamiliar. The young striker was brought to Blue Coast 1981 as a kid, by then manager, Barry Gorman. Almost forgotten about in Port Christopher, the young man slowly worked his way into the first team plans under new boss, Jan Markus Hellensen, and played a big part in their Champion's Cup qualification two years ago. Renshaw is a pretty standard sort of player, a number nine, who does what you would expect. He most certainly has an eye for goal though, and playing first team football at a high level means he will get the nod alongside Wedderburn.

CF/AMC Lara Wedderburn, Image Cornellians, 19. Height: 178cm. Weight: 67kg
She's been knocking on the door for three years now at Cornellians. Although she is one of their most utilised substitutes, it may be coming to a point where Wedderburn needs to either force her way into the first team, or try her luck elsewhere. She has undoubtedly benefited from the coaching at Cornellians, and you can see that in the way she plays. However, a side with their recourses will always have the temptation to bring someone else in, as opposed to working with their existing young players. Wedderburn is a razor-sharp, natural goal scorer, but lacks the physical side of the game.

Subs
GK Glen Kaspar, Image Lammerton Eels, 21. Height: 182cm. Weight: 72kg
Probably in here as back up because he has first team experience, just in case it doesn't work out with Lorrey. Already established in the Schottic second tier, he'll be ready if called upon.

RB. Jeremy Buckthorn, Image Dundee, 20. Height: 181cm. Weight: 670kg
Very similar player to Hordern at right-back, and looks set to just miss out on a start here in Valanora. It's an unusual position for Schottia to be in - after a few years of struggling - to have an excess of good players in the wing-back positions. Buckthorn is already rated highly with his club, Dundee, and is one of a few substitutes with SPL experience.

R/LB. Alistair Seeling, Image Regional Development Side A, 20. Height: 179cm. Weight: 64kg
Seeling has been having good season in the Schottic second tier, and can no doubt make an impact at this level. He will be hoping that he can follow the likes of Stephen Paul, and Visnja Brankovic to a top one day.

CB Danny Herzogenrath, Image Port Patrick United, 20. Height: 186cm. Weight: 72kg
Herzogenrath has been starting for the Breakers this season, and the 20-year-old can count himself unlucky to be settling for a spot on the bench. This strong centre-back as learned a lot at club level playing alongside veteran defender, Davy Keats, and that shows in his playing style.

RM. Abigail Teris, Image Handon Ladies, 21. Height: 184cm. Weight: 60kg
Teris was on the bench two years ago, and she stays there this time round. A high quality right-winger, who has made a name for herself, since Handon Ladies switched to the mixed league system. She has good pace, drive, and is clever with her distribution. Teris will probably be one of the more frequently used substitutes in this tournament.

LM Katie Smart, Image Lammerton City, 19. Height: 174cm. Weight: 60kg
A little bit untested, Katie Smart broke into the Princes first team last season, as they won promotion to the SPL. Doesn't really pack much of a punch, but she has shown some nice touches.

CM Greer Hyrman, Image Port James Athletic, 21. Height: 181cm. Weight: 69kg
Her first inclusion in a Schottic youth team, Hyrman will be hoping to make the most of her opportunity in Valanora. Since Jimmy Mitchel took over at Athletic, she seems to have seen her stock prices raise, with her no nonsense style impressing her new boss. Definitely not the most exciting player to watch, but she gives it her all.

CM Jane Schramm, Image D'Itille, 20. Height: 159cm. Weight: 63kg
It's probably good for Schramm that she has taken a step back in her career. After winning the U15 WC, and moving to Quebec, things have been a bit of a rollercoaster for the bustling little midfielder. Famed for her savage style of play, and short stature, Schramm snaps at the opposition heels for the full 90 minutes. She is now back with D'Itille, where she spent a season on loan three years ago, trying to get a bit of stability.

CM/AMC Line Stenberg, Image Kingsgrove, 20. Height: 168cm. Weight: 61kg
A Regional Development Side student, who dropped out of the second year of her Classics degree, to focus more on her football. The first Schottian to play for Kingsgrove since Eoin Killanen, the girl of Nordkruesian parentage is in good company in that regard. Stenberg is a neat, tidy passer of the ball, who performs much better in the attacking areas.

CF Lilou Reid Image San-Juantos Costal, 20. Height: 174cm. Weight: 66kg
The daughter of Port Christopher manager Jim Reid, has opted to play for her nation of birth, rather than her father's adopted nation. The 20-year-old striker is the first Schottian to play in Super-Llamaland, and based on her debut season, it seems to have been a good decision. Reid will be hoping to get off the bench here in Valanora, and show the John McCann what she is capable of.

CF Laura Annesley Image Cranequin City, 20. Height: 179cm. Weight: 63kg
Annesley has spent her entire career with Project +90, before making the switch to Cranequuin City after the world famous youth development programme folded. She has played for Schottia at U18 level, and a move to the first division in Nephara is probably a good move for her, as she looks to build on her early success. A left-footed striker, she brings a lot of energy to the game.

THE IRON SYNDICATE NATIONAL TEAM

The Black Arrows

The Iron Syndicate is a massive and futuristic country located in the Sea of Iron, between Rushmore and Esportiva and Atlantian Oceania, and that country is unique in that it's run by a large coalition of corporations that have banded together to bring a higher standard of life to their islands and to advance technological progress and prosperity. The country itself is made up of dozens of islands with varying climates, with the northern ones generally being warm, the southern ones generally being cool, and the middle ones being temperate. The nation has been self declared to be the Most Decadent Place On Earth, and is ruled by the Executive Board, an elected group of leaders that is responsible for all national decisions. The official leader of the country is the Chief Executive, and for now, that position is held by Augustus Darkstar, who is on his third term.

HISTORY
Chase Dekker era(163-Present)
With new proposals from the Executive Board setting the goal of spreading the sports and culture as well as the economic power of the Syndicate beyond the Sea of Iron, the country made their first foray into football with the Independents Cup. They also entered the U-18 Sporting World Cup, and nearly made it to the quarterfinals before taking a hard loss to Abanhfleft, and their World Cup winning performance in rugby inspired the Executive Board to pump more money into international sports.

The result? The team has also entered into the U-21 World Cup, better known as the Di Bradini Cup, and has created a team consisting of some of the bright young stars of the National League and the national developmental program, the Forge. The Forge has always been very highly rated academy in the eyes of fans on the islands, being well known for creating the best environment for young stars to develop into professionals that go on to have long careers, but this is the tournament that will decide just how highly rated that academy will become worldwide. The first manager of the U-21 team, of course, would be Chase Dekker, the 29 year old Silvershire Sporting manager that's the latest in a rising bunch of young and innovative managers that are changing the way that the

Tactics: Tempo and pace are key to the Syndicate team that will look to hold the ball and break down the defense with a number of passes before surging forward quickly and delivering a finishing blow when the defenders are tired and frustrated. They'll control the tempo and keep it slow in the possession phase in the midfield, but when they get into the attacking phase, they'll turn the speed up to Twelve and blitz the goal with all of their forwards, aiming to get the ball into a dangerous position in the box and strike quickly. Because of this, their team is built with an emphasis on quick movement, quick thinking, and conditioning, rather than high technical skills.

TACTICS:
A 4-2-3-1 formation is likely to be employed by Brown. As per custom Gray, Olagundoye and Brighton will all start between the sticks each group game, whilst captain Cyril Ansah should be the only permanent fixture in the team at centre-back. Partnering him will probably be Kadeem Bailey-Foster with Dushane Rose ably deputising. Rees Southgate and Kwame Sakye will be on either side of those two, with Lamont Marshall and Jemal Blackshaw in reserves. Sehun Otudeko and Max Mikkelmarkt will be the core of the midfield - Mikkelmarkt deemed "the next Tunji Tunde" and Otudeko already a club regular in FC Jansberg's midfield. Sporting Saint Adrensburg's Martell Wilkinson and Eikborg Club's Gideon Boateng are also strong options, whilst Etienne Marshall will be the team's main creative output in attacking midfield - with Brimah Cole-Emerston able to deputise there or if need be on the wings, despite his very diminutive and perhaps less-powerful build. Marcos Sevenoaks and Jonah Bokila are both regulars for their teams so will start on the wings, with Reiss Kingson and Jevon Boateng in reserve. Similar to the goalkeepers - Marko Moss, Javan Parfitt-Hendicks and Par Brand will start each game of the group stage.

Generation Next

Chapter One: The Program

“Investing in sports is good and well and that's already brought us success in the form of a Rugby Union World Cup title, but the truth is, youth is the future. Youth players are the ones that we’ll be promoting five or six years down the line and they're the ones that are going to keep the profit margins soaring for the sports industry. The emergence of players such as Lucy Silverstone, Drew Case, and Alexis Valente has shown us that young players can also be some of the most marketable, and ignoring youth football would be a mistake that will cost us hundreds of millions down the road,” said the man who was standing in front of a podium and speaking to a crowd of dozens of important figures within the Syndicate footballing community, along with even more journalists. “And that's why right now, I'm presenting you with a new project. One that we in Syndicate Football already have a name for. We call it… Generation Next.”

There were cheers, there was plenty of applause, and that was expected. The man that was at the podium was Felix Merk, and he was becoming something of a rock star within the football community for his contributions to the game as the head of Syndicate Football. Felix had been a player for Red Hill United and Union Atrus as well as Sporting Ceres in the later years of his career, but his real contributions had come as an executive; because of his careful negotiations and his commitment to increasing the profile of the game, there was now a national team that had become quite popular, and now it looked like that national team would extend to the youth level. Before he could speak again, Felix had to wait for the thunderous applause to end, even though the crowd didn't even know what he was announcing yet.

“Some teams have youth teams, you know. They compete at the under twenty one level and some teams have squads at even lower levels than that. But you want to know what separates the elite teams and the teams that compete for World Cups, and the pretenders that have decent results but always fizzle out before they can win anything? The pretenders have youth teams, and the elite have youth programs. We do everything bigger in the Syndicate, don't we? So why wouldn't we apply that to youth development?” Felix asked, raising his hands as the crowd applauded that question. “We don't want a youth team, we want a youth program! We want future stars, we want a golden generation of our own! You know what we want? We want Generation Next?”

“Now, you might be wondering what I mean by that, because this project isn't one that we've announced publicly before,” he continued, letting the applause quiet down before speaking again. “With Generation Next, we’re going to be doing exactly what I said, and running an entire youth program. Not just a team. Youth development should happen at more times than just international cups, and we're going to take a year round approach to it that involves more than just international matches, but domestic camps and regional competition to pit the best of our youth against the best and sharpen their skills for both the future domestic and international stage. When someone joins the Generation, they aren't just joining another youth team, but they're buying into, as I said, a program that will increase their skills year round and allow them to train like the best and get ready to compete against the best, no matter what their background is and what club they represent at the domestic level.”

He paused briefly, collecting his thoughts before looking into the cameras that were around the back rows of the room. “We already have the Forge, one of the most advanced youth development systems that there is. The players live on site and receive instruction from some of the best minds that our country has, and sharpen their abilities by regularly competing against each other. Starting now, we’re taking the Forge system and bringing it out of that small island where it's located and spreading it across the country in the form of this program. We're allowing every young rising player to get a taste of the same experience, without forcing them to move to Forge Hall and drop their club commitments to train in the national academy. We really do believe that this is the start of a new generation, and there's no more fitting name for it than the one that we've chosen… Generation Next. The next group of stars will begin their path here, and that path will start with the next Di Bradini Cup.”

More applause happened, and there were more flashes of the camera as the journalists attempted to capture the moment. “Thank you for all of the support and thank you for coming here for this announcement. But now that you know what we're here for, let's watch a little video that we've prepared to show more details about this program, and what the long term goals for it are, and also how it's going to operate…”

~

It was long after the announcement had happened, or more specifically, it was a few weeks later, when the infrastructure was being put in place and the federation was moving ahead with their plans to set up a team to compete in the DBC, and a philosophy to drive that team and make sure that the development would help them not just internationally, but on the domestic stage. But one of the most important things that was left to be done was find the man or woman who would be at the head of the program, leading the youth team as the manager and also helping with running several things behind the scenes.

Getting someone with club commitments wasn't necessarily ideal, because of the way that this position would take up a large amount of time, but the best managers were ones that already had jobs, and so Felix had been faced with a choice of interviewing ones who were working in the National League and the Developmental League, or ones who were nearly out of a contract or who had went into retirement and were considering a return. After a series of interviews, it looked like the head man for the new team would be someone that was an up and comer but also someone that already had experience.

That man was only twenty nine years old, and his name was Chase Dekker. His age made him the second youngest manager in the National League behind Garth Wesley at Portus Independent, and he was the youngest manager in the history of Silvershire Sporting, the team that his tactics had dragged to seventh despite not having a strong squad. He wasn't the type of manager that based his tactics around his players, he was the type who made players better by bringing them into his tactical system, improving their games and allowing them to become good enough to play for larger clubs. That was the kind of manager that the federation wanted in charge of the youth team, and so after much talking over the phone, they had agreed to meet at Forge Hall and go over some final things before sealing the deal.

The building itself, located on its own island, was shaped like a massive lotus flower, but to someone that was standing on the long stone walkway that led to the entrance, it would look like it was just a massive concrete monstrosity. And in a way, it was a miracle of architecture that all of these things had been merged into one building. The place served as the home of all of the players in the Forge program, and was also the place where they trained and played, with a few of the younger players performing their studies here too instead of choosing to take a boat to Cerium every morning for school. As they talked, they were walking towards the gigantic gates of the building, which were glass and allowed those looking in to see the lobby behind them, the one that had an indoor waterfall behind the receptionist’s desk.

“We think that you're a good fit because we're looking for the new generation of players and it doesn't make sense to have a next gen squad an not a next gen manager. Someone young and inexperienced like you is a better person to lead this team forward than some of the more experienced candidates that are going to try to stick to the traditional way of doing things, at the expense of innovation and advancement,” said Felix. “The game changes all the time, and we've found that young managers like you are better at following those changes. You're better at analytics than they are, and more experienced in fields such as sports science. Younger managers typically have more advanced training programs too, that make more use of data, and because of all that, we want to go young with this staff.”

“Of course. I've already been told that the goal here is innovation and not just doing the same things that every other nation is doing. We have less experience in football, and so we’ll make up for it by using the cutting edge of technology to our advantage and relying on hard data more than gut feelings, which is what most managers go on. I get it. How do you think I got Sporting to finish seventh?” shrugged Chase, sounding somewhat bored with the conversation. “I don't mean to brag, but I don't think you could have found someone better for this type of role.”

“And if we didn't believe that, we wouldn't have brought you here to wrap up the deal. Before we do that, however, I want to go over some of the staff that we already have here. You probably know about Brody Colombo, the Academy United assistant. He's a morale specialist and while you handle the tactics, he's the one that's going to look out for the players off of the pitch and keep things running smoothly in the locker room. He did it at Academy, and all signs point to him being able to do it here. There's also Dawson Horak, data officer. Expect him to be bringing you reports daily on different things from match performances to training performances to diet and other things in between,” replied Felix, as the two reached the large doors and stepped inside, the sound of the indoor waterfall serving as ambiance in the background when they closed the doors behind them. “I don't know how big the Sporting data department is, but on the national teams, we have only the best staff in this area. If you want to win, you'll have to work hand in hand with this department-”

“Yeah, yeah, I know. Like I said, it's not my first rodeo. We have a decent data branch at Sporting and even though they're underfunded, they do a lot for us. You'll be impressed to see what I can do when I have a proper department that has a large budget and more bodies. Anyone else that I need to know? I'd really prefer to just meet them when we gather together as a team for the first time, but if you think I need to know about anyone else…”

“Just Justin Mazzi, the technology officer. You already know that we're trying to use the latest in sports science and technology to win, and he's the one that you have to go to for any concerns about that and any recommendations you have for which players should be using what tech. But he's not as much of an expert on the sports side of things, so you'll have to work with him about that. Don't expect him to know what tech should go to who, he's just here to make sure it all works and that it doesn't backfire and have side effects. Think of him like a physio for cybernetics.”

“Got that, sounds fine to me. Now, I think we've done enough talking. Let's get to the real reason why you decided to bring me here… I’m ready to meet the players that I'm going to be managing and I'm ready to get this next generation started. Can't manage a group of players that I don't know, right? Let's get to meeting them.”

~

“The news that the Iron Syndicate will enter the world of under twenty one football has sent waves through the fandom, with fans wanting to take any chance that they can get to watch their national teams perform after the early good performances from rugby and basketball and a promising showing from football. However, it's not without controversy, and few things are uncontroversial these days,” said the newscaster who was leading off the news review of the day for Iron Sport. “That controversy is about team selection, and whether one of the brighter prospects in the Syndicate will represent them on the international stage or not, despite having a checkered background and a criminal history that few players have.”

There was a dramatic pause, and then the screen behind the newscaster displayed an image of a boy with a low dark mohawk and a hard looking face, and blue eyes that could easily be described as icy. “The player in question is Owen de Vos, the nineteen year old attacking midfielder playing for Section B of the Forge, the national development program of the Syndicate. Vos was formerly a member of the academy of Luxus FC and was on the fast track to becoming a star for their senior team, but that was derailed when he was released from the club because of his problems with the law. A little over a year ago, when Vos was eighteen, he was arrested by Police Corp for his rumored involvement in a Southboro murder that happened minutes away from his family’s home. The proper evidence was never found to charge him with a crime, he was released, and he joined the Forge program weeks later.

“However, it would be a mistake to say that Vos has changed since then. During the last Forge season, Vos was again arrested, and this time, there was substantial evidence to lead the public to believe that a crime really was committed. The initial reports said that Vos had savagely attacked girlfriend Hailey Maren during an argument and that the arrest had happened because of that, and that theory would be confirmed two weeks later when Maren posted pictures across social media displaying her injuries and blaming them on her footballer boyfriend. The actual police investigation and proceedings for a trail are still ongoing, but let's be honest. Hailey Maren didn't receive those injuries by simply tripping or falling, or by any other innocent means. Whether or not Owen de Vos was involved in a murder a year ago is irrelevant, because it's obvious that even if he wasn't, he belongs in prison for domestic violence.

“Now, we do have to say that Vos comes from a troubled background and that it's not unreasonable to assume that there was tremendous societal pressure pushing him to veer off of the straight path in life. Southboro, located to the south of Ceres, is one of the top five most dangerous cities in the Syndicate and is regularly in the top five in every gun violence statistic. Someone born and raised there, as Vos was, would have a hard time coming out of that place completely innocent. But Owen de Vos has a history of trouble with the law, and even when you discount the murder investigation because of a lack of evidence, reports from those around him and his clubs don't paint a good picture of him. In fact, they paint a very damning one of him. When Vos joined Luxus at age sixteen, it was because he had been thrown out of his own house for dealing drugs, and expelled from his Southboro high school.

“I'm not trying to make character judgements here, but I am stating that being expelled in Southboro isn't easy. It takes a special kind of person to get kicked out of school in the most violent part of the country, and those who get expelled from schools there aren't typically… Good people. Not only that, but Hailey Maren has posted some pretty damning evidence backing up the story that de Vos battered her, and while we don't know what will happen in the courts and if that evidence will be accepted or rejected by the judge, or even if we will have a trial or not, it doesn't take a condemnation from the court to tell everyone that Vos is guilty. The only question is, will he be selected to represent our country even after what he has done? As a faithful citizen who cares about our image, and as a woman especially, I have to hope that the answer is no. But I'm not the one making the decision, and Chase Dekker is. This team has a chance to be huge in terms of popularity, but only if the staff and federation handle this well. I hope for the sake of both the players and the fans, they do, and make the right choice-”

The TV turned off suddenly, and Owen de Vos set the remote down and rolled his eyes before sitting back down on the couch, in the living room where some of his closest friends were gathered. His Section B teammate, Chiara Altera, was there, as well as his young agent, Leo Zarate, and his sister, Mia. Since being kicked out of the house years ago, this was one of the first times that he was back home in Southboro, became it was an off day at the academy. “Sensationalist bullshit,” said Owen, with a sigh.

“Is it, though?” asked Mia, sounding somewhat unsure about that.

“I can say for certain that they aren't telling the entire story, on either thing. If this wasn't the biggest sports network in the country running this story, I would sue them for slander. But I don't feel like getting my name run through the mud even more by them, and I know that would happen.”

“They didn't tell the whole story? So did you do the stuff that they talked about or did you?”

There was a tense silence before Owen turned to his sister and sighed once again. “I did what I had to do, sis. The circumstances change the story and that goes for both incidents. But you know what, it doesn't matter, everyone is going to forget about all of this when I'm playing for Sporting Ceres up front and when I'm finally scoring goals in the blue and white. The only people that are against me because of this are the ones that care more about the off of the field side of the game more than the actual games themselves, and if they did care, they wouldn't say I shouldn't be on the national team when the call ups finally happen. Now, I'd like it if there was less suspense, but it is what it is. I'm convinced that I'm getting the call up and after I prove myself to the national team, it's off to the northern suburbs for me.”

“Aye, mate, I'm going to be working overtime to make sure that the international staff want you. I already did some talking with them and I'm confident of getting you not just a spot on the youth squad but a starting one. You're definitely going to become one of the more well known players, both because of your on and off of the pitch notability, and you should be right on the path to playing for Ceres,” said Leo, fist bumping his client as he scrolled through his texts with the other hand. “Don't worry about it, seriously. Just start thinking of what celebrations and skills you're going to show off internationally, because that's what's important right now.”

“And of course you know that I'm going to be campaigning for you to come with me to that squad. I have considerable bargaining power, as the undisputed top keeper in the Forge,” stated Chiara, with a slight grin. But she didn't get to speak again, because Owen’s phone started ringing.

“Wait a minute, let me take this,” he said, swiping to answer and holding the phone up to his face. He listened quietly at first, before nodding and saying okay to a few different things, and then he thanked someone and put the phone away as the call ended, before turning to the others. “Well, it looks like that national team call up is more likely than I expected. That call was from Felix Merk… He wants to see me and Chiara at the Forge Hall in an hour to meet the new youth team coach. Which, I believe means that we're getting the call up. It looks like I didn't have anything to worry about, guys… I'm going to be a part of Generation Next regardless of the shit that Iron Sport stirs up.”

But, even with the call up, Owen didn't realize yet that his time with the team wouldn't be without trouble...

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE - MYTANAR UNDER-21 SQUAD, DBC40/U21WC61.

Robin Hjik has announced his squad for the Di Bradini Cup/Under-21 World Cup. The team is representative of the best developing talents within Mytannion and as such the players selected are expected to uphold the best values of the Mytanar footballing tradition and play in a way that is sportsmanlike and fair throughout the tournament.

There are players from clubs from around Mytannion and this squad is seen as a beacon of hope for a nation recovering from some of the most horrific events in both Mytanar and Rushmori history. The manager, Robin Hjik, is well known to many from the sporting world having captained his country on numerous occasions: having made 182 appearances and scoring 73 goals for the Hoops, he holds the national record for both appearances and goalscoring. His playing career took in stints at both Atletik Thessia domestically and SK Franz Josef City in Polar Islandstates, he won the highest honour in club football at the latter club. He also captained Mytannion to Cup of Harmony glory. His coaching career began in Polar Islandstates at SK Nasjonale Hauker where he did a solid job, developing a team with limited resources into a reasonable Divisjon One outfit – this is his second job and his first in an international set-up.

For many, Robin Hjik is seen as a beacon of a united Mytannion and he had this to say about the squad he selected: “I’m here as a football manager and whilst that job is more difficult in Mytannion than anywhere else I relish this opportunity. The problems back home, the ethnic tensions et cetera have no bearing on whom I will select for my squads as I will simply choose the players I feel will give us the best chance of winning games. Thessian or Vojovitican, Rauchik or Visoravnian, Zentrian, Magev, Nastan or Avnali – whichever the region of your birth – you will be selected for the national side if you are good enough to play in the national side. That goes for the under-21 squad as well..”

He continued on a wider political point: “For too long our nation has been divided by minute differences between people based on geography and religion and supposed ethnic differences. There is more that unites Mytanar people than divides us and we need to move past the tiny differences because it is upon those differences that demagogues have played for far too long. For us to move past the horror Kalinina afflicted upon Mytannion we need to unite, come together and try to build a society the whole of Mytannion can be proud of. The Mytanar national side is a unifying force for our country and always has been, I hope to make it so once again..”

Hjik is a beacon of Mytanar unity but his assistant for this tournament has to be considered in the same category too, Lev Repin was of course the captain for the nation’s triumphs in Cup of Harmony 59 and our sole Copa Rushmori victory. His playing career was entirely at Ararat Severyan and Repin is a highly respected figure in Mytanar football for being a one-club man as well as his excellent record playing for the national team, where he amassed 177 appearances and scored 14 goals from full back. It is planned for Repin to take over as under-21 manager following the conclusion of this tournament, with Hjik taking on the full national team role as his sole job.

Manager: Robin Hjik
Assistant Manager: Lev Repin

ST 10 Zlatan Andrijasevic 17 Atletik
ST 11 Jezdimir Ocokoljic 19 Crvena Zvezda 4 senior caps, 2 goals
ST 21 Anton-Dusan Straka 21 Arka
ST AML/R 22 Mirko Cerovec 21 Crvena Zvezda

OOC stuff.
The formation this team is playing is a 4-3-1-2. Out of the three central midfielders, Vilim Kupresak is the most defensive, he is the one who will sit back the most so please attempt not to have him bombing forward and scoring goals with any regularity. Alen Hrdaljko is a diminutive midfielder who is good on the ball, but isn't scared to get stuck in either (think David Silva but with a bit more edge), and Miodrag Andrijasevic is a bit more box-to-box. Zlatan Andrijasevic is Miodrag's twin brother and he is a tall forward who plays similarly to a very famous RL player who happens to share his first name.

Jezdimir Ocokoljic is essentially Francesco Totti but all Slavic and cool, he'll find space where your defence believes there is none and he will exploit and he will ruthlessly tuck the ball away. Nice. Ermin Drzic will play behind those two and he is a raumdeuter, aka a 'space investigator' (a la Thomas Muller), but he will probably square the ball rather than tuck it away.

Substitutions wise, Dalibor Vlahovic is likely to come on in most games. Mirko Cerovec is also likely. If trailing in a game the team will change to a 4-3-3 formation, usually with Zlatan Andrijasevic coming off for Cerovec and Drzic off for Vlahovic. Anton-Dusan Straka is essentially Pippo Inzaghi but all Slavic and cool, too, so remember that if you want someone to terrorise your high defensive line with varying degrees of success.

Also worth noting that Mytannion play in white and green hooped home shirts (like Celtic), with white shorts and then white and green hooped socks. The away shirt is matte black accented with orange, with matte black shorts and socks. Don't get these colours wrong! Don't use shitty RL photos that don't match these kit descriptions! It's annoying!

Okay so now that is over, here are the permissions that I believe are still important:

YES! to pretty much everything. Although I reserve the right to retcon anything I believe uncharacteristic of my players or Mytanars generally although anyone who has collaborated with me in the past will probably vouch for me that I'm fairly easy-going on most things and Mytanar ultras and hooligans are known for being a fearsome bunch indeed so do play on that if you wish. The ultras are loud, colourful and will bring lots of flags and possibly organise tifo choreographies in the stands and corteos pre-game and the hooligans are violent - ultras and hooligans are often interchangeable but some ultras groups are non-violent whereas hooligan groups are inherently violent. If there are any questions or anything else, please telegram me!

So You Want to Know More About Footy in Nellietopia...

Well, that's a bloody mistake. Any exercise in understanding Nellies is an exercise in futility, much like emptying a bathtub of molasses with a spoon underwater. We've stopped trying to explain it years ago. But what you do need to understand are these:

(1) While there are many types of nellies, the most frequent (i.e. only) type of nellie found is the ubiquitous Purple-Stinging Nellie. These little critters are the conception of some crazed lunatic who spent his/her/its days inventing creatures with radically long stories filled to the brim with verbose descriptors like adverbs and adjectives (not to mention the odd plethora of parenthetical remarks). That crazed lunatic is now retired, but the conception that spawned the first purple-stinging nellie has given birth to a whole nation of nellies that very much dominates regional thought.

(2) The organization responsible for the defense of Nellietopia is known as the Armed Forces League of Allemenschen Critters (AFLAC). If you don't what that means, don't worry - we're still confused as well. The general jist is that the country that used to be the former territory of Nellietopia was once called Allemenschen, a poor country full of idiots (literally). Somewhere along the way, the defense of the country was subcontracted to a bunch of animals, hence AFLAC. The list of animals that makes up this armed force is only limited by the imagination allowed. Perhaps the most famous members are the Bovine Geese Corps, whose hatred of all things Sorthern Northland is quite renowned (even as the Snorths nuked themselves to oblivion). If you have no clue what any of this means, no worries - just assume it's a nellie sort of thing...

(3) A typical match of footy in Nellietopia is simply chaos. There are eleven nellies with eight legs. There is that purple silk that the nellies will produce. There is the stinging. There is the biting. And there is the ball - it is round.

I mean, we could contrive some roster for you to survey and say "well, I think Jim-Bob deserves to score a hat trick today..." but we've evolved beyond the need to publish match reports. Does it mean that you're going to love every last bit of RP we write? Hell no. People hate it when we write, because it means ten-ninety-three words of superfluous drivel (or - more pleasantly, 42 free verse words with no relevant meaning to anything else, especially the footy match). Moreover, even if we were to contrive a roster of nellies, the reality is that Nellietopian society is becoming more and more hive-mind-like. Is it fair to say one part is above any other part or whole?

To prepare you with that inevitable reality, we've concocted a few "realistic" scenarios should your team face a team of Nellies...

(A) "The [TEAMNAME] was sent to hospital following the DBC match against Nellietopia, most players suffering from serious bites and stings inflicted by the opponents. The referee attempted to issue red cards to the violating players, but he/she/it was stung as well and sent to the hospital. Government officials are now quarantining the stadium and banning Nellietopia from sending any more nellies, threatening to nuke the country with a giant can of RAID..."

(B) "The [TEAMNAME] emerged victorious over the puny Nellies of Nellietopia. Government officials later issued apologies after the entire Nellietopian team was squashed under the feet of the [NATION] players. The nellies are still recovering from the hospital, although it is widely expected that the nellies will remain in critical condition for some time..."

(C) "I rolled special DBC XL edition Nellie Scout Chance Cubes, and a badger mauled my niece!"

Well, there are other options. But that's for you to decide and for me to critique nonchalantly with a casual wag of my hyperbolic finger (all metaphorical, of course).

(4) More than likely, playing a bunch of nellies is going to be boring. I mean... they're nellies. You could spray a can of RAID and win. Or you could huff a can of RAID and die. Please don't die.

But instead of the match report, you could opt to partake in perhaps the greatest cultural legacy of the Nellies - an exclusive line of Nellie Scout brand merchandise! It started with the original - Nellie Scout Cookies, made with real scouts (not nellies...). Then we branched into other obscure (and long forgotten products). Recently, a new resurgence in the Nellie Scout brand has brought you a whole plethora of random shit that you don't need but you direly want (almost the same thing as needing, I suppose). Of course, you're welcome to buy stuff from our catalogue of [url=https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=247293]Nellie Scout crap[/url

(5) RP Permissions: you can do anything whatever you are willing to have done to yourself. Be mindful of the torrent of words that you may unleash upon yourself should your RP not satisfy the nellies, however (as a point of advice, buy lots of our Nellie Scout shit, and you'll be plenty fine).

BTW: we pledge to the hosts that the nellies won't do anything to defile the host venues that can't be cleaned up with a good amount of Nellie Scout Elbow Grease ®.
For playing purposes, our playing style shall be uber-attacking +5

With age comes experience - so they say. Since appearing from the middle of nowhere, the purple critters had long built their civilization upon the premise that Sorthern Northland was nothing more than a pile of ash. Soon enough, that was the reality. Then came years of strange murmurs of conclaves, conquest, and congress. Nothing really happened. Nellies came and went, but such was the nature of apathetic development that no one really got to see Nellietopia grow old. The cobwebs grew ironically in halls crafted from the purple silk that had sustained that growth - only the skitter of young nellie feet prompted any attention to those halls.

Hidden in those halls grew something dark and deep. What it was remained a mystery, even those in power could not predict what would come of that darkness. Who could say that those in power had become the darkness itself? It seemed preposterous, but the mystery deepened with every passing year that the Nellies simply lay in their silky homes. Tourism had hit an exceptional low, even though the export business remained strong. The expatriot community ensured that Nellies were never forgotten, even if some of the regional denizens would have rather not to deal with the mess that they left behind. Increasingly, even this community appeared more a burden than a burgeoning bellow of productive entreprise. The world seemed more open back then, when "chance" was a word of hope, not of scorn. What had happened to the happiness that had become the nellies of old? What was their secret?

The historians had poured through the archives, deep and dusty with abandoned files. In the end, it was a fortuitous report that piqued their interest - "What united us back then wasn't the Snorth problem, it wasn't the rehabilitation, it wasn't the goats and sheeps and kittens, it was something more universal - football."

The solution presented to the old, estimable crowd of the Conclave echoed with crickets chirping in the background, until someone decided to finish his snacks. A shuffle from the historians reignited the clamour that was present in the hall. "Preposterous!"

"Seriously, football is the thing that has united us - not only in our times of great peril, but also in our times of great triumph. The Great Enclave of the Nellietopians has hosted a few tournaments in the past - admittedly professed to be the worst ever, albeit these were under the tutelage of the former Allemenschen regime. That said, we've had our greatest success as a nation when we were competing in the arena against other nations in the fight of 11 against 11 with a round white ball, that's sometimes orange when it snows or some weird color when the host wants to be some multicolor fest. In any event, it is paramount that Nellietopia re-enter the next football tournament, to restore our former glory and to seek out new ones. Behold our current generation! They are so aimless and lost, they merely wander from place to place without a thought of what they do, how they do it, or - especially - why they should do it. We are bordering on an existential crisis, if we should continue this mindless pursuit of pricking neighbors when it conveniences us and inconveniences them. But we need more than that. We need to live and thrive in this continually evolving world, not merely trudge from step to step. We need..."

"You need to stop speaking in metaphors. You are forbidden to speak another metaphor for the remainder of this meeting." The gavel resounded loudly from the dark chamber. Crawling out from the corner was the mysterious chief of the Conclave (er, he don't have a name on account of them weird hive mind things, so he just called chief, but we can call him "Bob", or at least you can - I'm just going to call him "Chief"). His eight legs stealthily moved him out while the light oak gavel hung from his left pedipalp. His primary ocelli were fixed upon the lead historian. His voice bellowed from his chelicerae with tremors that reverberated through the silken threads that formed the foundations of the hall (one keen enough to spy might have listened to the chords' echoes). "This speech of former glory and football is all nonsense. Why should we waste efforts to distract the feeble minds from relevant and important issues? There are far more important things to discuss that need resolution, not... silly things. That was then. This is now."

"Begging your pardon, Chief, but this is more than just about history and resolution. This is about identity - for all of our greatness and faults, football is who we are - and I don't mean that metaphorically! Literally, we are about football."

"You just revised your statement from a metaphor to a simile," Chief replied with a grimace.

"Consider this, sir. You - the Conclave! - asked us to find the unifying thread in our history. As much as we searched, there are nothing else that brought us together more than the fields of friendly strife. There was nothing else that allowed our identity to persist as more than an oddity - it made us a centerpiece in international relations. Certainly, people do not fear our military, although it is fearsome - as long as the Corps wear gas masks.... Our economy is certainly famed, but not famous - if not annoying for the numerous Nellie Scout merchandise. But football - this is the stuff of life."

"Do you really think football will solve the mystery of the darkness?"

"Yes. Football is the answer to our mystery! - literally!"

The Chief glanced with a sniveling sneer in his ocelli. "You tread on thin ice, take care that you do not fall through and drown in the mystery of your own proposed success."
HAHA! NOTHING IN HERE! yet...

Spaamanian U21 National Team

The U21 team is led by the senior team's and national league's top goal scorer, and descendant of Spaamanian great Mela Sehelin, Merlara Sehelin. She is joined by senior team-mates Rogdorr Kelphine and Takilia Mialee, and her deputy is midfielder Hemlas Waasaalim, who fills in for Merlara when she has senior duties. There are number of relatives of the senior team in the side, notably Melara's sister Liltora, brother of national midfielder twins Briddara and Gibelar Ralora, Salaword, and son of the senior team's susbstitute keeper Eletha Gilhana, Aaldorr. Watch out too for defender twins Maddelia and Bersin Mirabella who recently offered L1 million each to play for Paatukar City.

"Watchers of SATV 7 News, this is the end of our current affairs news. We will now turn you towards SATV Sports."

Camera switches to SATV Sports with Anchorwoman Hwang Ha Yeon standing in the center of the SATV Sports platform.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is Hwang Ha Yeon of SATV 7 Sports. Football fans all around Gim are celebrating as the nation is partaking in the 40th edition of Di Bradini Cup. Di Bradini Cup is the championship for young Gimian prospects who will later represent the official Gimian team that will perform in the World Cup. This year, Gim has been placed in Group D, facing off against Nellietopia, Eshan, and Eastfield Lodge. Their first game will be on May 1st against Eshan.

Now, Gim has history facing Eshan in the quarterfinals of the 60th edition of Baptism & Fire, losing to them in extra time by the score of 1-0. Both teams were very defensive back then; however, Eshan got the upper hand. Hopefully, this time, Gim triumphs over their rival and advances well into the knockout stages of this tournament.

Now, more sports news. World Cup of Hockey..."

Eastfield Lodge Roster for DBC 40

Demonym: Eastfielder

Eastfield Lodge is a pretty glorious nation, somewhat situated in Northern Rushmore - in reality, there's a very small island (acting as a transport hub) which hosts a portal linking the NSverse to a small bubble universe, wherein the rest of the Imperial Commonwealth is located (barring a couple of nations, but they’re linked up in other ways). The IC part describes the fact that there are several empires contained within one superstructure – divisions which are somewhat reflected in the convoluted league structure.

Those of you who know this nation well however will wonder what has happened to the Whoniverse (the universe of Doctor Who, the TV programme). Don’t worry, I will (hopefully) RP what went on. To those who don’t know, this nation used be in the NSverse, but due to the acts of a lone madman from The Holy Empire (mad, or pitiful, the legends are a bit shaky), Eastfield Lodge almost vanished from existence, leaving behind a small island (now in Rushmore), attached to a portal connecting here to the Whoniverse. Things happened, the portal became unstable, and we had to form a bubble universe, and as a result, the resulting temporal shockwave both wiped out all electronic records, and did some weird stuff to people’s ages (hence why some names in the team may seem recognisable).

Anyways, because of the initial portal, whilst humans are the overwhelming majority of the populace here, don't be surprised to find several other races and much advanced technology here. Some more historical information can be found here, in lieu of a factbook (NB: a lot of the information there is inaccurate though, TG me for clarification).

Back to the nation itself, Eastfield Lodge is probably the best place to live in the entirety of Rushmore, according to the WA at any rate. Amongst the accolades heaped upon are: Most Compassionate Citizens, Most Beautiful Environments, Happiest Citizens, Most Dedicated Public Healthcare, Healthiest Citizens, Least Corrupt Government, Longest Average Lifespan, Lowest Crime Rates, Nicest Citizens, Largest Public Transportation Department, Safest, Smartest Citizens, Most Popular Tourist Destinations, Best Weather and Largest Welfare Programs. Also of note is the fact that, in a region containing Saintland, Eastfield Lodge is the Most Devout nation, with Islam being the national religion, and that we have the Highest Police Ratios, so do not be alarmed by the sheer number of police officers.

Manager: Robert Andrews; Age 43. The former national team striker takes up the helm for the U21 manager spot for the second consecutive U21WC, as they look to improve on last edition's unfortunate elimination from the group stage on goal difference, despite having won two games.

Formation: 4-1-2-3
Image

The formation is a weird variant on the classic basic 4-3-3. Here, there is the one holding midfielder, and the other two are pushed up to play just off the ST as attacking midfielders, whilst the WFs are also slightly tucked in from a usual position. This allows them more of an equal choice of either cutting in or going out wide for the cross, which may be met by the other winger or one of the midfielders. The front five can drift to other positions at any time, just to keep defences on their toes. Defensively, the AMs will drop back and slightly out wide or into the middle as required, and are decently proficient at dispossessing the ball and using it well. The DM is mainly there to guard the defence, and is adept at picking out a pass (short or long), and helping to dictate plays. The CBs are as standard, but the FBs are given the freedom to roam forwards as far as they can get away with, and more often than will get involved in attacking plays, with some crosses from both deep and closer in.
In terms of goal scoring, the ST will get the bulk of the goals, with good contributions from both the AMs and the WFs as well. The WFs will get most of the assists, followed closely by the AMs, then the ST and DM.

Give out red cards to my players: Y (only one more than the number given to your team, maximum of three - i.e. I get two red cards, you must have at least one)
RP injuries to my players: Y (Maximum 3, no career-ending injuries without my explicit permission – I reserve right to how long players are out; you can RP how severe it looks)

Godmod scoring events: Y (Have fun.)
Godmod other events: Y (TG me if you're planning on killing anybody though, or anything really extreme.)

If I do RP, I will include the line-up for the next match in my RP post, along with any suspensions/injuries. If there is no line-up, look through my posts and check for current suspensions/injuries, but otherwise it’s fine. Also, if you're RP'ing any part of my match, please use the full name Eastfield Lodge at least once, it helps me find the RP.

NB: As the people of EL are extremely compassionate, and very civilised (despite what you may say about the religion), it would be uncharacteristic for the coaches/players to lose their temper, dive deliberately (jumping out of the way of bad tackles and falling awkwardly doesn't count), to be sent to the stands (if the ref is clearly very biased however...), spit, argue with the ref or fight. Players will also tend to inform the referee about mistakes/clarifications in judgement regarding throw-ins, fouls given but with no contact and goal kicks/corner kicks (plus other bouts of honesty - up to you).

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM - MIXED

This will be the ninth time that Abanhfleft will be participating in the Di Bradini Cup. Ever since the team finished third in Di Bradini 33, it has been a period of ups and downs for the team. First, Di Bradini 34, considered as Abanhfleft's best chance to have won some silverware, was mysteriously discontinued for unknown reasons. Then the team was knocked out in the group stages of Di Bradini 35 by Farfadillis, and then they were knocked out in the round of 16 of Di Bradini 36 by a Pasarga team that decided to show up at that exact game. And then in Di Bradini 37, they were knocked out by a very motivated Tumbra side. Di Bradini 38 was when they failed to survive Tomikosan. In Di Bradini 39, Ceni tripped up Abanhfleft in extra time. Will Di Bradini 40 finally be the tournament where Abanhfleft's youngsters win it all anything? There's only one way to find out...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +3.5
Formation: 4-1-3-2 (This will be standard unless I change it through RPs)
Head coach: Celerino delos Reyes (63 y/o, Philippines)

STARTERS
GK: Brook ARZATE 20 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Image (Fhulghamous Peninsula, playing in the Fleftic Premier League), male, vice-captain
Yet another Marinos player carried over from the under-18 squad, Arzate has barely played any games, both for his club and his country, and his chances of starting in this tournament are equally slim. However, this is a good opportunity for him to learn international quality football, so it's not all lose-lose for him. He's finally stepping in between the sticks for the Young Revolutionaries, but he only has two years left before he could get promoted to the senior team or get forgotten by the passage of time.

RB: Eileen ONYU 21 y/o, West Releinthi City Ladies Image, female
First of all, enough of the punny name jokes. Second, Catarina Soler has finally turned 22 after a million years, allowing someone else to occupy the bench spot that the budding Air Force sergeant had made her own for the last sixty gazillion years. But whereas Soler was confident with her ability and saw no need to improve upon herself, Onyu knows that she's got a lot to learn before she can even challenge for a starting spot. But a bench spot is good enough for her, and she's got the likes of Ainsley Gibson to learn the tools of the trade. She's now starting and therefore in the spotlight, and this is her chance to show if she did indeed learn something from all of the fullbacks ahead of her before.

RCB: Hamad Ahmed KHALED 18 y/o, Pasargad Manitogoro Image (Oontaz), male
Hamad Ahmed Khaled is just the shortened version of his full name, which is Mohammed Mahmoud Hamad Ahmed Khaled Salman Idris Muammar el-Sennousi al-Iraqiyah. Try fitting all that onto a jersey. It certainly beats the likes of Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, though, which is why Hamad had it shorted to just Hamad Ahmed Khaled. Hamad is the son of the Emir of Tall Afar with his fifth wife, who is a Fleftic citizen, hence Hamad's eligibility for the Democratic Republic. His strengths lie in his height, aerial ability, and good command of both his area and his fellow defenders. If he develops properly as a player then he could even end up being captain material for both club and country, although having a Fleftic citizen as the Emir of Tall Afar could cause a problem or two in the Sultanate of Oontaz.

LCB: Miranda SULLINS 20 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Ladies Image, female
An exciting prospect if only for the fact that she had gotten herself noticed through the Sporting Ceneisis youth academy, which had been a bit neglected by Artemio Peres in favor of getting players both locally and abroad for as much as his team's Bellinsgauzenian boss is willing to let him spend. Still, it wouldn't do to take away from the fact that she is indeed a good defender, if a bit raw even for the standards of the under-21 teams. And an international call-up such as thing can do no harm to her career. Right?

LB: Caleb WAYNE 19 y/o, unattached, male
Caleb isn't a regular starter for any of the junior squads before this, but the few substitute appearances that he made from the bench earned him a big money move to Fluvique's Darwin City (3 million NSD, to be exact). Like many of the defensive players coming through Abanhfleft's academies in recent times, Caleb is a defender, specifically a left back, who likes to bomb forward when the opportunity arises, although he does do his defensive duties as well if called upon, thus giving him the potential to be a wingback or even a winger. He's also quite good in the air and could be relied on when defending set pieces or winning air balls. Is not unattached after a Catastrophic Termination Even engulfed Fluvique and left him among one of the few survivors.

RM: Lashaunda DATTA 20 y/o, All-Inclusive Haranguer Image, female
The product of Haranguer's burgeoning mixed-gender youth academy, Datta has the potential to be a real world-class defensive midfielder. If only she could realize that and stop being too much of a defender or too much of an attacker. Hopefully some time watching recognized international DMs could set her head straight.

CDM: Mauro MAGNANELLI 17 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz North End Image on loan from Rosenpfelblatz City Image, male
Mauro Magnanelli is good enough for tackling people to the ground and little else. It doesn't mean that he can't improve his skills, abilities, and football knowledge. There's still time for Mauro to become more than just another one-dimensional player. After a good performance in the 3rd Sporting World Cup, Mauro will join the under-21 squad as a central defensive midfielder to replace the now-ineligible Lucjo Kleinmann.

LM: Arthur MacALISTAIR 21 y/o, unattached, male, captain
Arthur started his career as a left-sided midfielder but eventually found himself becoming a great winger, even if just for the under-18 and under-21 squad. His few substitute appearances during the latest Di Bradini Cup earned him a move to Fluvique's Athletic, where is now getting some more first-team minutes than he could have possibly expected from his first club. Owen Bevan got the most out of Arthur in the second Sporting World Cup as a winger, but now Arthur is back in deep midfield, but for Celerino delos Reyes' last hurrah as the under-21 manager, Arthur will be back in the wings. He's also unattached after a Catastrophic Termination Event engulfed Fluvique and left him one of the few survivors alongside Caleb Wayne, Maksim Varamoninov, Lucjo Kleinmann, and the like.

CAM: Kassandra PRATT 18 y/o, Riuwiee United Women Image, female
Riuwiee United are really going out of their way to make sure that their women's team is on par with the men's team. Kass has the beginnings of the playmaking attacking midfielder that the Blue Tribeswomen have sorely needed in their team, but it will still take a long, long time before she can be reasonably included into the first team.

RS: Kelly McGINNIS 16 y/o, Hoventon & Corlington Town Image (Mercedini) on loan from Airbus Fhulghamous Besanza Women's FC Image (Fhulghamous Peninsula), female
The undisputed star of the under-18 team is now part of the under-21 team as well. Kelly McGinnis could very well be the next Chelsea Stuart. Lord knows she's got the raw talent in her veins and her feet. Her only problem is in getting out of Besanza to continue her development and make sure that it's on the right track to actually making her the next Chelsea Stuart. Kelly wants to move abroad to develop herself in a world-class side, and she believes that the Sporting World Cup is her way to gaining that attention and getting that move abroad. She did get that sought-after move, but not exactly to where she expected: she's on loan to Mercedini where she hopes she can make an impact.

LS: Annamarie SABADO 21 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies Image, female
Sabado has the makings of being "the next Fleftic super-sub." No less a footballing authority than Arsenal de Releinthi manager Godric Wexler said so after Sabado had scored the game-winning goal against Lutine to give Abanhfleft a ticket to the Sporting World Cup final. And, judging from her inclusion into the under-21 squad by Celerino delos Reyes, the Filipino might be looking to do the same, this time in the Di Bradini Cup.

RESERVES (All players are members of their league team's youth squads unless otherwise noted)
GK: Bronwyn CHURCHILL 16 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image, female
Bronwyn is the daughter of Rosenpfelblatz City's new manager Joseph "Joe" Churchill, one of the most decorated managers in the sport within the Fleftic sphere of influence. Bronwyn came with her dad to Rosenpfelblatz and immediately settled in well with the Lady Sky Blues' academy. She is a traditional keeper who prefers to keep close to goal and catch or slap away shots from that position, although she is learning to become a more athletic keeper now that she's training with the likes of Yannie Redborne, Marfa Kirilenko, and Blaze Chrzanowska. It should be noted that Joe Churchill would have liked it more if his daughter had not wanted to be a goalkeeper, but at least he as a father won't worry about where she's been before, during, and after training because they're always in close proximity to each other.

GK: Margaret DENNIS 18 y/o, Admiral Porcusces Women Image, female

DF: Alma WALKER 18 y/o, Rushmori Drawks Image (The Isles of Avon), female
Alma Walker is a decent right back who looks destined to be an actual right back instead of the myriad wingbacks who seem to be cropping up like weeds all over Abanhfleft's academies. Alma is actually ambidextrous with her feet and can play in both fullback positions fairly well and effectively (kind of like Tonya Heaton) but she prefers to work on the right side of the pitch. Doesn't mean that she can't do a good job on the left, though.

DF: Christy SHEPLEY 17 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image, female
At 6 feet 2 inches, Christy is already one of the tallest 17-year-old Fleftic central defenders ever in the Democratic Republic and its sphere of influence. Coupled with a supernatural defensive ability, it's a wonder why she's still on the bench and not starting, until one realizes that Christy is quite the thin and willowy girl. She's a good defender and good in aerial and dead-ball situations, there's no doubt about that, but she has to bulk up and get stronger if she is to become one of Abanhfleft's best defenders. She remains on the bench to make way for the impressive Hamad Ahmed Khaled of the second silver-medal-winning under-18 team.

DF: Lauree McATEER 16 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Women Image (Fhulghamous Peninsula, playing the Fleftic Ladies' Premier League), female
Lauree's first international football experience was sitting on the bench of the Fleftic under-15 team during their debut appearance in the 9th Under-15 World Cup in Schottia. Although she's Port Thimpodopoulos born and bred, Lauree is being given a chance to show that she can represent the blue, orange, and green, and while she is a good and quick defender, it looks as if she's going to be warming the Fleftic bench once again. She could end up representing the Fhulghamous Peninsula when she reaches the senior level, but stranger things have happened, and there could be a national team coach out there who sees what s/he wants in Lauree and call her up.

DF: Georgine BAUM 16 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies Image, female
Another player with foreign roots playing for the Democratic Republic. This time, Georgine's parents are immigrants, or rather expats, from Pridnestrovia, who escaped the country after her father said a few things that were not to President Field Marshal Stepan Stepanenko's liking. Georgine is more than likely to play for Abanhfleft in the future, but stranger things have happened. Arkadia Zubarenko did end up playing for Pridnestrovia after years in Abanhfleft's youth teams. Somehow, despite being just fourteen, she's already in the under-21 team, and she's starting. Has Celerino delos Reyes finally lost his mind, or is there a method to his madness?

DF: Marius ROSENKRANTZ 17 y/o, Duhblakk Rovers Image, male
Not to be confused with the point guard of the Releinthi Chiefs of the Fleftic Basketball Association and the Abanhfleft national basketball team (the Rebolusyonaryos). This Marius Rosenkrantz is a speedy defender who is usually played as a winger but has been put back into a defensive position by the national under-18 team to drill some defensive responsibility into him to make him a better defender. If his training goes well then he will become a good or even great wingback. If not then he's just another speedy winger who can't contribute much on the defensive end. Because he's still a winger at heart, Marius will leave behind pockets of space while advancing forward, pockets which smart opponents will use against Abanhfleft.

MF: Natasha BURKE 19 y/o, Riuwiee United Women Image, female
Natasha is coming in as a last-minute replacement for Yanick Grumbach, who suffered a dislocated shoulder just weeks before the start of the 2nd Under-18 World Cup. She had had a few chances to show her skills for the under-16 and under-17 teams, but she has a tendency to go on the attack a little too many times for a central defensive midfielder, something which has proved to be a concern for Riuwiee United's academy. Still, when she's not leaving the midfield open for the other team, she's good for a crucial tackle or two, but because she tends to put all of her weight behind her tackles, she already has quite a lot of yellow cards and some red cards to her name.

MF: Sheila BECK 17 y/o, Keephall Valkyries Image, female
Technically, Sheila's a central midfielder, but because of her tendency to wander the entirety of the pitch, she could theoretically play in every midfield position and even down the flanks. Recently, Keephall has began playing her in the central attacking midfielder position, and while she has to remember that she doesn't have to come and defend as much as she used to, she has a knack for well-timed tackles and can never seem to be fouled. Sheila can set up attacks as well through passing play, but her best skill is winning the ball and then making that key through-ball.

MF: Cecily SEGOVIA 17 y/o, Ladies of Santos FC Image (Oontaz Dert Li Ng), female
CeCe is the foil to Trinidad Kleist's hard-hitting CDM. The Oontaz-born central midfielder is the creative outlet for the midfield, setting up passes and long balls to initiate the attack. But that doesn't mean she shirks from her defensive responsibilities. Still, like Trinnie, CeCe is still a bit enthusiastic with the sliding tackles and will get her name on the referee's notebook a fair few times. Another member of the second-place under-15 team from Schottia who got an inclusion into the under-21 team.

FW: Claudia ROOS 17 y/o, Dinamo Bender Women Image (Pridnestrovia), female
Claudia is the player on the under-15 team who is most likely to end up representing another nation once she hits the senior level. Abanhfleft is enjoying Claudia's services while she's still with the team, as she is already turning into a future star winger, what with her pace, crossing ability, and incisive runs into the box. Pridnestrovia will come knocking for her, and the SFA knows it, but while she's still playing for the blue, orange, and green, Claudia is Abanhfleft's best under-15 player, and because of that, she merits a spot on the bench of the under-21s.

FW: Arkady "Arlie" ROZIER 17 y/o, Maris Rovers Image (The Redvale), male
Another Pridnestrovian player born in Abanhfleft who looks like he could be poached by the Democratic People's Republic of the United Socialist States. Arlie has serviceable hold-up play but questionable finishing and ball distribution skills. He's also a bit selfish, preferring to shoot the ball himself even if there is a teammate in a better scoring position. But he's just 14 years old. Surely he can learn how to improve himself and his technique, right? Right?

FW: Margarita STEPHENSON 21 y/o, Antslinngs Islands Ladies Image, female
One of the best penalty, free kick and corner kick takers. Unfortunately just about shite in everything else. A bench spot and training camp with international quality strikers could hopefully help her improve. Apparently not, as even she is bottom in the list of forwards which includes two 14-year-olds!

RETURN OF THE ROYALS: LLAMANEAN U21 ROSTER

Image

STAFF
Manager - Ryan REAGAN - 47
Assistant Manager - Megan SIGURORZSON - 43

With Trevor Duncan resigning to manage the New Llama Stars, the assistant manager, Ryan Reagan, has earned himself a promotion. Reagan isn't particularly experienced himself, although he's shown a knack for tactics in his time with second-division and former SBCC participants Wheathampton as first coach and then interim manager. A former center-back who played for Sabrefell in Nephara and the national team, Reagan has a lot of potential as a manager - even if his first season in control of a SuperLleague team, Olympic East, ended in relegation.

The position of assistant manager has been given to former Llamanean defensive-midfielder Megan Sigurorzson, who was basically the only thing keeping Kyrinson in the SuperLleague last season. The assistant-manager is a firm man-manager, although she’s hoping to gain more tactical experience with the Royals.

PLAYSTYLE
Style Modifier: +2
First Choice Lineup

The Royals usually tend to mirror the senior squad’s tactics, but with Curtis Steeling bringing Explosive Football to the Tigers, they’ve switched things up. Although both Steeling and Reagan call their formation a 4-3-3, they couldn’t be any more different. The Royals’ 4-3-3 is focused on possession, with the two of the midfielders expert passers and the fullbacks both expected to help attack if needed. The third midfielder is mostly expected to track down attempted clearances and keep the attacking running, and serves as a defensive midfielder when the Royals aren’t pressing - similar to what Sigurorzson did back in her day.

RP Permissions

No reds or career-ending injuries.

GOALKEEPERS

#01 - Marcos SANTANA - 20 - Emerald City Harmony
#12 - Michael LIN - 21 - 1940 Asure
#23 - Erin DONALBAIN - 19 - Emerald City Harmony

Once again, there’s no clear first-choice - or even third-choice keeper on this roster - each has their own strengths and weaknesses, and they might all get a start in the group stage. Marcos Santana is well-known for his distribution, and he’s an athletic shot-stopper with heaps of potential. But he was raw last DBC, and he’s still a little raw now, with questionable decision-making at times. Meanwhile, Michael Lin is nearly his opposite - the keeper captained 1940 Asure to promotion last season with unyielding composure and nearly no mistakes, but although he somehow manages to be excellent in the air, he’s still a little limited athletically. Last but certainly not least, Erin Donalbain is a mix of both keepers - decently athletic, decently solid in the air - and could be a useful option as well.

DEFENDERS

#02 - Emily GUSTAV - 21 - Emerald City Harmony
#03 - Seth CALDERÓN - 20 - Gallant Cross
#15 - Reagan FLEMING - 21 - New Llama Stars
#05 - Sergey KUZNETSOV - 20 - Los-Juantos Coastal
---
#14 - Achilleos MYERS-BRIGGS - 21 - Corbin City Islanders
#16 - Jake PEDERSEN - 20 - Kyrinson
#17 - Elisa LUNDIN - 21 - Dinamo Visånd

Fullbacks Emily Gustav and Sergey Kuznetsov are key pieces of this Royals team. Kuznetsov’s speed and agility enabling him to bomb forwards and embarrass opposing players, although he’s very unpolished on defense. Meanwhile, Gustav is better on defense, but can attack if needed and is a strong passer for a defender - she’s already fought her way into a starting spot for Harmony. Jake Pedersen is a capable deputy who shone for Kyrinson last year as well.

The center-backs are excellent as well. Seth Calderón earned himself a move to Brenecia last season for his highlight-reel long passing, last-second sliding blocks, and all-around potential. However, he still needs to work on his positioning and decision-making to become a star. Fleming, an overqualified backup for New Llama, will be expected to be the more defensive of the two, tasked with covering for Calderón and Kuznetsov while making tackles and supplying her fellow defenders - and she is certainly capable of filling that role. Their backup is the unremarkable but reliable Elisa Lundin of Dinamo. And the final member of the defense, Achilleos Myers-Briggs (not a brother this time, but the son of eldest brother Sagan), is, like literally every other member of his family, a solid all-around defender who can play at any position.

MIDFIELDERS

#06 - Damian BAO - 20 - Anmen Athletic
#10 - Elias MÖLLER [C] - 21 - Dinamo Visånd
#30 - Alyssa HÅKANSSON - 20 - Walquistsholm
---
#08 - Ryan McALLISTER - 21 - Olympic East
#18 - Kris ZIEGLER - 20 - New Llama Stars
#29 - Eloisa FRANDSEN - 21 - IFK Velheim
#38 - Griffin BALE - 17 - University of Vargas

National team starter Elias Möller, a right-winger for the Tigers, has been given the interesting new assignment of directing the team’s attack. With his vision, accuracy, and athleticism, he is undoubtedly the right man for the job. At his side will be Alyssa Håkansson, who with Walquistsholm has grown into a solid playmaker, albeit one without much athleticism. However, holding together the entire system (along with Möller) is defensive/central midfielder Damian Bao. The Anmen midfielder is absolutely tireless, but at the same time is arguably the fastest player on the team. His positioning and vision make him an expert at filling the role Reagan wants him to fill, but his penchant for landing accurate long-passes and his athleticism will make him a perfect fit for Explosive Football as well. One to watch for the future.

On the bench, McAllister contributes his a dominant aerial presence and physicality, but doesn’t really have a spot in this system. Meanwhile, Kris Ziegler is a hard-working midfielder with a decent passing touch, and Frandsen is appearing in her second Di Bradini Cup but hasn’t really improved since then. The final substitute, Griffin Bale, is a generic holding midfielder - but is worth mentioning due to the fact that he’s former NT center-back Alex Bale’s son.

FORWARDS

#07 - Carson FRAZIER - 20 - Easthaven Centurion
#09 - Emma BERDYCH - 19 - Emerald City Harmony
#11 - Liam DE LOS SANTOS - 21 - 1940 Asure
---
#20 - Isabella SHI - 19 - Easthaven Centurion
#21 - Brünhild SIGURDSSON - 18 - Nordsjisvand
#25 - Kevin CANTOR - 21 - SC Hazel

An excellent set of forwards, with just as good subs behind them. This is the deepest part of the squad, even if nobody on it is a true star. In the middle, Emma Berdych can create chances out of nothing from anywhere on the pitch, and is amazingly athletic - however, at the same time, she’s also horrifically wasteful and unpolished. Flanking her are two athletic wingers - but Frazier is a converted midfielder who is often too passive, while De Los Santos is prone to losing his temper. Still, the three forwards work very well together, and should be a perfectly fine starting unit.

The most interesting prospects, however, could actually be on the substitutes’ bench. Isabella Shi is a polished goalscorer with an excellent passing and finishing touch - it was her left foot that propelled Easthaven to SBCC qualification. She’s a little unathletic, but if she can improve her conditioning, she’ll be starting for the Tigers in no time. Brünhild Sigurdsson, despite the name, is a quick, cultured false-nine who works very well with Shi and for Nordsvisjand - he’s a little unpolished, but at eighteen he has time to improve. Finally, Kevin Cantor is slow, one-footed, and a clubhouse cancer - but his shooting touch (especially from set-pieces) is unbeatable, and he could find some use in penalty shootouts.

"Hello, good afternoon, and welcome to this special sportnyheter.vu bulletin on the first ever combined u-21s national football team of The Valhallan Union. Yes, folks. It's finally happening. Many are against it, many have argued for it, and at least for the meantime, it's happening. The Incoporated States, although retaining independent memberships of the WCC, the UICA, and the CRF, are banding together in other tournaments, and are combining their talents for this DBC for the first time ever. Truly, this is an historic occasion for The Valhallan Union. Ole van Jendrisen's role as Terns u-21s boss has been transferred to this new administration, and although players from the Polar Islandstates dominate the team as would be expected, there are a handful of talented youngsters from Lesser Valhalla to even things out and make things interesting. For van Jendrisen, this tournament is and has always been one about focusing on player development. The successes of the past might be weighing on his mind, but bringing the awareness and squad readiness of these players up to the standard required by the various national teams of Valhalla is the number one priority. The Terns are well accustomed to reaching World Cup final stages, after all, but they remain the only Valhallan side to ever manage that feat. Part of the ambition of this squad is to rectify that. After the enforced absence of the... whatever that was, there is almost an entirely fresh batch of debutantes into this squad, with only a few familiar faces this time around. It's time to see how they get on."

GK
#1 - GK - Valter Leimbach - Age 21 - RSK Longyearbyen Town (PIS) - PIS - Vice-Captain
#12 - GK - Ejvind Goldwasser - Age 20 - Red Star Severny (PIS) - PIS
#13 - GK - Robin Langendaal - Age 19 - Excelsior Bosch SC04 (SKB) - SKB
"Although he was an unsurprisingly unused part of the most recent Terns squad for the Copa, it still comes as something of a surprise to see van Jendrisen entrust the vice-captaincy of the new Yoons side to the rather headstrong figure of Valter Leimbach. Nonetheless, he remains a supremely talented prospect, and with the backing of Goldwasser and Langendaal we have a group of goalkeepers we can trust wholeheartedly here."

DEF
#2 - DR - Anton Clausen - Age 21 - SK Nasjonale Hauker (PIS) - PIS
#3 - DC - Vladimir Hove - Age 21 - SC Kiel (PIS) - PIS
#4 - DC - Valtteri Kirschberg - Age 19 - FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla (PIS) - TFI
#5 - DL - Geir Belotserkovsky - Age 21 - RSK Longyearbyen Town (PIS) - PIS - Captain
#18 - DR - Elmo Sauerwein - Age 18 - Northbrook Diamonds FK (PIS) - PIS
#19 - DL - Mikkel Juve - Age 19 - Hospitaliers (PIS) - PIS
#21 - DC - Arlo Prien - Age 21 - Marylebone Invicta (TFI) - CSK
#22 - DC - Robin Koutaniemi - Age 21 - SK Sturm Nuuk (PIS) - PIS
#23 - DC - Miika Lewerentz - Age 18 - SK Franz Josef City (PIS) - PIS
"If Leimbach's promotion to vice-captain was a surprise, Belotserkovsky's captaincy is staggering. They have some talented players in the ranks at Longyearbyen at the moment, there's no doubt about that, but if they're all going to be as headstrong as the two in this squad, they might have a problem. Belotserkovsky does have Terns experience though, so maybe this is a calculated risk by van Jendrisen. Kirschberg was snapped up from Fallenmark at a young age by Bjarnarey, and he will partner Hove and Koutaniemi in an experienced back-three. Sauerwein and Lewerentz have tongues wagging in Divisjon One, so watch out for them."

MID
#6 - DMC - Oscar Voss - Age 21 - SK Franz Josef City (PIS) - PIS
#7 - AMC - Sani Borzakovsky - Age 21 - East Franz Athletic (PIS) - PIS
#8 - MC - Bastian Forsberg - Age 20 - Jan Mayen Islanders (PIS) - PIS
#14 - MC - Artur Pakkarinen - Age 20 - FC Axel Heiburg (PIS) - PIS
#15 - DMC - Rudolf Boettner - Age 17 - FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls (PIS) - PIS
#16 - AMC - Otto Nilsson - Age 19 - Marylebone Esprit (TFI) - TFI
#17 - MC - Gylfi Fridjolfursson - Age 19 - Hrafninn Knattspyrnufélag (BLK) - BLK
"The familiar face of Oscar Voss in the defensive midfield position will give some much appreciated stability to this side, whilst Borzakovsky's presence is again something we've seen at the DBC before. Though, admittedly, in a different shirt. Otto Nilsson has seen plenty of Divisjon One scouts fly out to see him in Marylebone, whilst Boettner and Pakkarinen already have a handful of appearances for their sides' first teams under their belt - experience that will be useful here if called upon."

ATT
#9 - ST - Arno Ziegenhagen - Age 20 - FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla (PIS) - PIS
#10 - ST - Eyvindur Zelic - Age 21 - FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla (PIS) - PIS
#11 - ST - Jan-Erik Oettinger - Age 19 - FC Cape St Paul (PIS) - PIS
#20 - ST - Jan Juenemann - Age 20 - FC Axel Heiburg (PIS) - PIS
"Erik Zhamaletdinov may have graduated to the Terns now, but Eyvindur Zelic remains a front row option for van Jendrisen, as too does his Bjarnarey teammate Ziegenhagen, who has surged past Zelic into the Terns squad with Zhamaletdinov. Zelic may therefore have something to prove here, but their understanding at club level could prove very useful indeed. Juenemann and Oettinger are yet to score senior goals for their teams at home, but it surely won't be long before they do. Watch out for Juenemann's height, in particular."
