Is anyone planning to host this thing? I know SNT-FFR said he wasn't going to.

I am strongly considering it.
What I am waiting for is a clear picture on the timing of a looming project for May at work, and some of the semantics relating to the project. I will have that clear picture by the middle of next week. (Ideally I know by tomorrow but some clients like to wait until the last minute. Though when there is a lot of money at stake, you let them take their time. ;) ) That will determine whether or not I bid for this. I need to be certain I will have the time.

Percentage-wise, I'd say it's two-thirds likely I bid, one-third I do not.

Bid for the World Bowl XXXII: Bongo Johnson
Official bid music (listen while reading for maximum effect!)

Image

Dance to the beat of your own drum, and the whole world dances with you.
Feel the rhythm. Feel the rhyme. Get on up, it's Bongo Johnson's time!

About Bongo Johnson
Bongo Johnson is a historically thriving nation currently recovering from a massive stock market collapse and dissolution of government. It is a left-leaning democratic nation, renowned for its universal access to healthcare and progressive yet reasonable social rights. Bongo Johnson is clean, virtually free of crime, and sports one of the regions highest performing public education systems. Its capital, Murbley, is a bustling hub of commerce, nightlife, and sporting.

American football is the national pastime for every Bongonian. Bongo Johnson's domestic league has three tiers of promotion and relegation, and even the smallest boroughs command a team with a dedicated and passionate following. The de facto international team, the Murbley Mighty Kittens, are the only team in the now defunct Global American Football Association to complete an undefeated season. They have also commanded significant results in tournaments such as previous World Bowls, as well as the Gridiron Champions League.

The recent reshuffling of Bongo Johnson's government has largely freed it of its previous bureaucratic lockdown and a new era of prosperity is predicted for the southern Esportiva nation. If there were ever a time for celebration of culture, this would be it.

Venues
Bongo Johnson has stadiums of varying sizes scattered across its sprawling lands. The biggest, the Murbley Coliseum, is located in the capital.

Image
Built: 2003
Capacity: 81,435

Additionally, matches will be played at stadiums all over Bongo Johnson. A stadium is currently under construction in the northern city of Stratton, and games are already scheduled at the Dannydome in South Tip.

Scorination and the nitty gritty
*this section shamelessly taken from a previous World Bowl host with better planning and organization than I*

Xkoranate will be used, with SQIS-IFAF overtime ruleset.

Knowing that the World Bowl often reaches around 48, but recognising that there doesn't seem to be so many nations signing up as before at this time, I am putting in place the following tournament plan:

Thirty-two signups = Eight groups of four, double round robin, top two advance to the playoffs.
Thirty-six signups = Six groups of six, double round robin, top two teams advance plus top four third placed teams advance to the playoffs.
Forty signups = Eight groups of five, double round robin, top two advance to the playoffs.
Forty-two signups = Six groups of seven, double round robin, top two plus top four third placed teams advance to the playoffs.
Forty-eight signups = eight groups of six, double round robin, top two teams advance to the playoffs.

TIEBREAKERS:
1) Points
2) Head-to-head points
3) Overall point differential (calculated as points for minus points against)
4) Play-in match

Playoffs will be single matches. RP bonus shall be cumulative. To encourage the spirit of RP, the bonus scale will not be revealed, but points will be given for creativity, effort, etc. as fairly and objectively as possible. On the event that Bongo Johnson makes it through the group stage, third-party scorination will be requested. If anyone has any suggestions on certain aspects of this bid, please feel free to share them. This is the World Bowl - input from all nations is welcomed and appreciated!

Nothing is required to join, but a roster and unis would be good to have! Fortunately, if you do decide to join, you'll probably have 2 weeks before you'd want to have at least your roster done.

I'll have a decision made by the end of tomorrow whether or not I feel I would have the time to host (I have to be able to vote for myself before trying to convince people to vote for me), as expected this RL client is being "last minute" with key project information.

So, until then...

I was unaware there was an updated version, and was planning on using the original. If this is the preferred version of SQIS-IFAF for future World Bowls, I would be happy to use it instead. Thanks for the links!

Bongo Johnson has successfully hosted multiple small yet significant international tournaments in the past. We have successfully hosted Global American Football Association's third season in addition to previously running our own domestic American football league. In other sports, we hosted two iterations of an ice hockey tournament we created, the International Ice Hockey Championship. We do not have the storied track record that some nations may have for hosting tournaments, but believe we are fully prepared to host the World Bowl and show the world what our nation can do!
