Hello All:
I've put a lot of thought into it and have look into its history, it seems there is no official tournament for Water Polo and I'm wondering if I can drum up some interest for it. The only scorinated events (intl.) that include Water Polo are the Olympics. ~~Many~~ Some nations maintain their own domestic leagues including The Royal Kingdom of Quebec's QPL and Frenline Delpha's FDWPDL. I am fairly certain this has never been attempted and am wondering if anyone would be interested. Also, this is my ~~second~~, no third attempt at giving water polo its' own cup, so, I believe I am a self-qualified somewhat expert on water polo on NS Sports, it is possible! We can do it!

I understand many of you may not be familiar with the sport of water polo, wishing to save you the grief of me trying to explain, I'll allow Wikipedia to explain in their article. The article gives detailed information on history, rules and overview, positions, etc.
If eight to twelve people express their interest in Water Polo, I'd convert this into a sign-up thread.

For scorination the host nation would have the water polo scorinator on Xkoranate in the latest edition. Skill modifiers would be allowed during a tournament and would cultivate, rp bonus would also be allowed. I've been considering creating a new scorinator specifically for water polo, alas, this might just do fine on its own.

Thirdly, a water polo cup is somewhat feasible -Ii once before it was attempted however never materialized as the hosting nation essentially dipped. Given how well this does prospectively, if we manage to attract at least twelve nations, I'll established a governing federation and move forward with doing more.

Oh I rarely join a sports thread because most of them require vast seniority or experience and often there are like a hundred people signed up already, I tend to get lost in the mix. But now and then I do.

Same here. Also because I haven't done anything with this account in more than a year, and it's a shame because come on, Megelan is a miniature version of the post-European Restoration Austrian Empire, a bastion of order and tradition in a corrupt and degenerate world, and the fact that nothing's happened in the RP scene of its region in several months is the kind of heresy that can only be cleansed with fire.

Oh, well. I suppose I'll have to settle for water polo for now.

Furby Island's Host Bid

IC Information

The Cities: The cities of Boreem and Difinter have been chosen to host the games. Both are on the western side of the country.

Boreem: Boreem is a city in the Central Greenhills. It has a very busy port, and has the most efficient desalination plant in the country. It also uses the most renewable energy.

Difinter: Difinter is a large city that is next to Boreem. It also has a large port. But all of its water comes from Boreem. The city does have the largest IT industry in the country. And also, it is know as the City of Water Sports, since they have been know to win over 70% of all championships involving water sports.

OOC Information

Experience: Furby Island hasn't hosted anything major, however, I know how to use XKorinate and all of its features. I have played around with it numerous times. Also, I am willing to take any advice from anybody.

Scorinator: As mentioned above, XKorinate will be used. I will use the latest version(I think it is 0.3.3, but correct my if I'm wrong). The water polo formula will be used.

Bonuses: There will be an RP bonus, as well as a ranking one. The rankings from the previous round of the handball world cup will be used.

Format

Groups: Based on how many sign up, the groups will be as follows:

20 signups: 4 groups of 5, top 2 advance
24 signups: 6 groups of 4, top 2 and 4 3rd place advance
28 signups: 7 groups of 4, top 2 and 2 3rd place advance
32 signups: 8 groups of 4, top 2 advance
36 signups: 6 groups of 6, top 2 and 4 3rd place advance
40 signups: 8 groups of 5, top 2 advance

If it says third place, then the teams will advance based on the points they have.

Tiebreakers: In case there's a tie, it will be resolved by the following:

goals for
goal difference
head-to-head points
head-to-head goals for
head-to-head goals difference
coin flip

Playoffs: The teams will play each other once in the playoffs. The winning teams of the semifinal will play for first and second place, while the losing teams will play for third.

MEGELAN'S HOST BID

Water Polo is a fairly popular sport in the Duchy of Megelan, especially in the country's lake region; for this reason, the Ducal Council of Government for Defence, Civil Protection and Sports has put forward a bid for Megelan to host the first ever Water Polo International Championship. The cities that will host the championship if Megelan will be chosen will be Comm, Lugan, Megelan and Vareet, the cities in the country home to Olympic-size swimming pools - three of them in the capital alone.

THE CITIES

Comm is a city in the northwest of the country; its proximity to the lake that bears its name and to the mountains has made Comm a tourist destination and the city contains numerous works of art, churches, gardens, museums, theatres, parks and palaces. The pool that will host the matches is the Maggio Pool.

Lugan is a city in the far north of the country; like Comm, it is next to a lake of the same name, and is surrounded by mountains. The pool that will host the matches is in the Palla Beach Club.

Megelan is both the biggest city and the capital city of the country, an Alpha leading global city with strengths in the arts, commerce, design, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, services, research, and tourism. The city's museums, theatres and landmarks attract over 9 million visitors annually. The pools that will host the matches are the Boaters' Pool, the Gabriele Pool and a pool in the Sarnia Sports Center.

Vareet is a small town located just nine miles north of Megelan, known for its industries and its villa. The pool that will host the matches is in the Blue Beach Club.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

As of the time of writing, the Duchy of Megelan is classified as a Psychotic Dictatorship with Few civil rights, Rare political freedom, but a Very Strong economy. It is an absolute monarchy led by Maria I of Megelan - Maria Vladimirovna Zakharyina - a descendant of the former royal dynasty of the Acrean Empire, who escaped Acrea following the October Revolution to seek exile and refuge in Megelan, then a subject Duchy under the Empire.

High-tech farming, light industry and the service sector are the cornerstones of the prosperous Megelanese economy; athletes and fans both can expect top-notch food and lodging, as long as they keep in mind not to rock the boat and respect the strict Megelanese laws, the laws of an enlightened but absolute monarchy that holds Roman Catholicism in very high esteem. For those of you coming to Megelan from Earth, expect a Roman Catholic version of a state of the Persian Gulf, wealthy but reactionary.
