REDVALE COLLEGE BASKETBALL
The teams for NSCAA 8

College sports are very popular on the island of Redvale and its territories in the Sea of Endelos, and basketball is no exception. Like college football players, college basketball players here can often become larger than life stats, who become legitimate celebrities and receive all of the media attention that pro athletes and other celebs would. This season, you will be getting an inside look at college basketball in Redvale, as the teams pack up and head on the road for international competition.

As the teams prepare then and play against the world's best, you'll see every inside angle brought to you by an elite team of journalists who have permission to go where nobody else has been allowed. But first, here's the rosters and information for each school competing in the eighth edition of the NSCAA basketball competition.

Note that while Redvali teams are not mixed gendered in domestic competition in college basketball, these teams have been unified and have players from both the male and female teams, with the exception of the all female West Redvale team that was entered after the male team refused to send its players to play internationally.

Sadeg is one of Drawkland's most historic cities, and its namesake university is no exception. It is debatably the oldest constantly-running institutions of learning in all of Sonnel, depending on how you count the diversion between the University and the Spartan Academy. It has always been one to start off strong with winning sports when they first become popular, and basketball was perhaps the most prominent example of this. They've been a contending force since the inception of the collegiate league.

The SSU Skyhawks are the reigning champions of the Drawkland collegiate tournament and have been in the Extreme Eight every year before and after that, lasting for a 77-year streak. In the national championship brackets, many novices at the bracket assume SSU as a solid choice to advance to the Eight and usually to the Four.

Without a doubt, Sadeg State University was the most dominant team in NSCAA 7. In the Gravity Conference, they attained a perfect record, swept the conference championship, and went on to be seeded #1 in all of the Ultra 64. They were on a hot streak, throwing down left and right, an unstoppable force. 31 consecutive wins, and they seemed like nobody could match them. Unless you were the University of Cenial. In the final game, the one that mattered most, Sadeg State lost 59-67 in the most disappointing loss of the entire NSCAA. Still, as runners-up, they're still a force to be reckoned with.

Drawk Corps is a university in Drawkland, the main campus of which is located in Drawk City, Drawkland's largest metropolitan area of several million people. Its owned and operated by the Drawk Corps, which is the main corps registered in the National Corps System of Drawkland. All of its students are members of the Drawk Corps.* Since the Drawk Corps is a national organization, there are many supporters of the university nationwide, and some enrolled online or on other, smaller, campuses.

Drawk Corps also owns a club in the DBO of the same name, and the university team is mainly considered a "feeder" for it. However, both teams are very good, considered the best in the nation by many, within their respective leagues. Out of the many centuries of Drawkian university basketball play, the Drawk Corps University basketball team has currently racked up 107 national titles over its history.

As far as this team goes, they won the tournament two seasons ago after an uncanny dry streak of over 2 decades. But they've consistently made the Final Four every year in those 2 decades, always getting infuriatingly close to winning but failing, until now.

In NSCAA 7, despite winning the Eternal Conference in the Regular Season and Conference Tournament, they inexplicably failed to overcome the University of Myana from Chromatika, a 72-93 loss in the first round of the tournament. It was a disappointed end to the season, but at least Myana were avenged when Metropolon City College took them out in the Sweet 16.

Metropolon City College is a college in central Metropolon, Drawkland's massive predesigned capital city. It's funded and operated by the City of Metropolon, and has mandatory housing for its students, due to Metropolon's preplanned nature. It focuses on Engineering and Civil Planning, which is what Metropolon was borne from. Their mascot are the Generals, due to how the Drawkian Armed Forces are headed in Metropolon and how some of the college is focused on such education.

Metropolon City Coll won the national collegiate championships back-to-back 4 and 3 years ago. Most of those students had graduated and moved on to the pros, but the senior players now were young players then, bringing considerable skill to the table.

In NSCAA 7, Metropolon struggled in the packed Big 12 Conference, finishing third on the year and not making it to the Conference Final. However, once they got into the Ultra 64 bracket, they proceeded to kick ass and take names. They made it all the way into the Elite 8, avenging 2 teams that had defeated Drawkian teams in earlier rounds, before falling to Ceni's University of New Oxford, 79-67. Despite the loss, they were the lowest-seeded team to make it into the Elite 8, so they probably destroyed a lot of brackets on the way.

Corinth City is the famed Drawkian city of scientific study. As such, Corinth City University is one of the largest and oldest colleges in Drawkland, which was originally built as a way to direct smart pupils into the Capital of Science in Drawkland, and it has served this purpose well. However, in the last bit of history, Corinth City Uni had an influx of less prominent students looking for a higher-class education, mainly brought on by the period of economic growth in Drawkland. This led to slightly more funding being put into the sports program, and an explosion of skill was underway.

While Corinth City's Chargers have yet to bring home a national championship, they've gotten closer and closer by the year, consistently placing in the "Extreme Eight" of the championship bracket, and having traveled to the final game twice of the last 6 years, however being defeated both times.

In the NSCAA 7 regular season, Corinth City beasted in the Woodland Conference, nearly going undefeated save a few late season losses. However, they still one the conference in season and tournament play, and went on to be the #2 seeds in the overall tournament. Speaking of the Ultra 64, Corinth became somewhat of a monster in the bracket. After defeating Cosumar's lone entry, Stoneshore College, in the first round, Corinth went on to face 3 consecutive Chromatik teams. This gained them the moniker "Chromatik Crushin' Corinth City Chargers," and they made it easily into the Final Four. Unfortunately, they couldn't make it into the Championship, and finally fell to 27th seeded University of Cenial in a massive upset, 69-99.

Ducentu State University is the prestigious university out of Ducentu, the city wedged at the border of 3 territories - Malicollet, Kanyoet, and Ellzidanet. Like Elmanden and Cemmedy, it's a big member of the modern computing industry, the three cities form a sort of triumvirate as far as the IT business goes. Data science is the big major coming out of the college, but of course all types and manners of engineering are mainly studied here. For some reason, Law is also a common undergraduate pursuance.

Ducentu State is a power in the tournament in Drawkland, and they often make it to the Extreme Eight, despite having troubles making it anywhere much further. They were shut out the season before last but that was due to an early-round upset which nobody saw coming. Still, they're a common powerhouse, and it's unlikely anybody will object to their inclusion here.

Ducentu missed out of the Extreme Eight last season and thus didn't participate in NSCAA 7 (thanks to Notamill College, much to literally everybody's chagrin). However, they're expected to still make big waves wherever they land.

Elmanden is a city in southeastern Kanyoet, close to Ducentu and only a few miles away from Cemmendy. Elmanden District College is a school devoted to mainly the study of Information Technology and various types of Engineering, their programs are in the highest tiers of the nation's. Another part of the technological triumvirate in Drawkland's mideast, Elmanden is a destination for many on the physical side of computers and other such instruments.

With a break into the Extreme Eight, along with their rivals Cemmendy Tech, Elmanden is a new power in Drawkland, making the Extreme Eight twice in a row, and projected to do it more and more often in the future.

Elmanden got second in the Amaethon Conference, both in the season and the championship, falling to the Technical College of Vangaziland in both cases. However, they were still seeded 5th in the overall Ultra 64. You may think that boded well, but no. They lost 65-101 to the Instituto Universitario Politicnico de Carabobo, the 60th seed (who were walloped by our own Metropolon next round). The loss was absolutely humiliating and many pointed fingers at bad officiating, but it was too late. Still, they will return, and they will be powerful this time. First round exit isn't on the agenda.

Old Mountain University is, well, an old university near a mountain. It's situated in the north of Drawk City (hence the Northerners nickname), technically in a suburb outside of the city but still claiming to be apart of the greater area (which is is). It's like that one college that everyone knows but forgets about. They have a wide assortment of degrees, but considering its size, location, and atmosphere, it's often described as "the community college that's not." It's a commuter university which is chill and renowned for its low rates, and not really hated by anyone.

Like Notamill last year, Old Mountain was a surprise showing in the Extreme Eight. Winning their conference by a single point in overtime of the conference championship, Old Mountain fluked into the bracket and miraculously beat their opponents in dramatic fashion before meeting Drawk Corps (crosstown rivals in a way) and getting rekt into submission. It was an interesting cinderella story, however, so it's good to see their basketball team making some waves.

Old Mountain was never prepared to go to the NSCAA. They'd expect to get roflstomped, but considering Notamill's performance last season, they'll probably at least make it onto the Ultra 64. Who knows?
They made it this far.

Cemmendy Tech is a university devoted to the technological. Its students are some of the most well-versed in the computer realm as some of those who've created the machines in the first place. The mascot is the "Cyberpunks," one that was chosen by the students after the advent of advanced technology and the term for users of it arose.

Cemmendy has done next to nothing in the national brackets until very recently. Last year, their seeming fluke into the Extreme Eight was actually not a fluke, as it appears to be a new era in the school's basketball history. The repeat appearance in the Eight as well as more soundly winning their conference shows that they'll likely be around to stay a little while longer.

Cemmendy easily won the Royal Flush Conference, a fantastic record and a great tournament showing granting them the 3rd seed out of all the Ultra 64. That, however, inexplicably did no good as they lost 84-85 in a heartbreaker to the unknown Shibusen School of Aji No Moto, who was unceremoniously dumped by a 19-point margin to a Vannish school. You better believe they're back for revenge,
even if Aji No Moto isn't back. They'll be ready to destroy the bracket.
