WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING IN FULL HOUSE AND CAT VALLEY?

What. The. Actual. Fuck. Is. Happening. Here? City Centre College is losing to schools like Natanians and Nosts Palaentological-Centered University of Whatever - a team that couldn't shoot a basketball if their life depended on it. And they lost to them twice, despite the Nostian team having no skill at basketball whatsoever. Teams like Waterford University, whose defense looks like an uncoordinated amoeba. And yet they've defeated conference leaders University of Jolarus and third-place team Southport University. We think they're actually good, unlike the Drawkian press which claims they're bad because they're losing to all these shitty teams.

The Vanorian Times once put their hunch on the University of Montague-Hawkesbury, a strong and well-regarded program with several good players that have a lot of potential. Yet their hunch looks like it's been more like a curse, as UMH has lost 11 out of its 20 games and is currently sitting at eight place in its conference. Fucking eighth! They're losing to both the bad and good teams in the conference, and when they're winning, it's by the skin of their teeth - often by one or two points in all. Teams like Universidade dos Açores and the University of Wickliffe are defeating UMH easily, yet the UMH is a quality team - at least we think. Drawkland doesn't really think so.

The real question is - why are these teams losing so much, what can they do to fix it, and, the most important question, will they get into the Ultra 64 at the end of conference play? We talked to basketball analyst Oret Moryne, and he believes they have about a fifty-fifty chance in the end to get into the conference tournament. "Either they get their act together in the last couple of games in the conference, get a favorable draw, and actually play like they're supposed to and get into the tournament as the conference champions, or they get featured on several hosts' submissions for the at-large selection after doing well in the last couple of matchdays, or they utterly fall apart and get an utter lack of sympathy from the rest of the world. That's how I see it." He agreed that the teams did not deserve this fate, and that they are better than their statistics surmise. "They've gotten super unlucky, really unlucky. Cenian teams' luck seems to be just horrid in this tournament. I don't know what's made them so unlucky - with injuries, unlucky rim shots for them, lucky rim shots for their opponents... It's simply bizarre. They shouldn't be playing this way at all."

Meanwhile, while we're on the subject of teams not doing well, a shock loss to Kecstat College of Kecrazia in the Rainbow Conference has sent Taurendil Institute to second in its conference behind Plymouth Republic University, with the team below the Free Republican (?) team despite having a much higher goal differential than them, especially after an aggravating loss to the University of Klyde. In the Mezzanine Conference, the University of Ceni, Ceni's flagship university, cannot seem to get past Lazaga State University of the Redvale, an actual talented team, or Ayiana University of Lisianski, the latter of which's performance seems to be a fluke. The University of Ceni also managed to go two losses in a row, with Ayiana (grrr) and Petre Price University dealing the death blow to UC's chances, sending them down to fourth, below Ayronhrod University (how do you pronounce that?). These schools coming in and upsetting Cenian schools on a daily basis is not making the staff here at CeniSport happy, especially competing against Drawkish schools which barely get upset. Like, most of the Drawkish schools are sitting on only one or two losses. With UMH and CCC doing so poorly, and other schools sitting in second, third, or fourth, not first, it's obvious which country is a superior basketballing power.

With the bad news out of the way, the University of Cenial has actually managed to get its act somewhat together. Although it did not manage to win its conference, with the team clearly behind its two rivals Metropolon City College and Depri Lanar University, it managed to get up to third place in Woodland Conference and get a bye in the first round of the conference tournament, with the potential to meet Depri Lanar in the semifinals, if UCenial doesn't choke on its expectations for itself. Hopefully, they'll win, though.

In the best news for Cenian schools, 3 schools are actually at the top of their conferences and are pretty likely to keep going with their good momentum. After 20 matchdays have gone by in the Kyst Konferanse, Endemian College at Whitehaven has gone 19-1, with the all-star Mar-Shayal siblings doing their part, and more, to put the team on top of the conference; they have not bitten the upset bugs like the other Cenian teams in other conferences. They finally dealt a strong blow to rivals Chromatik State, beating them in front of a healthy home crowd by a solid 12-point margin to send them down to fourth place. Meanwhile, the Cenian Academy of Science and Technology has done extremely well in Big Seven Five Conference, going an astounding 20-2 with a points margin of over 500, with two games in hand over their nearest rivals. They even sealed up the conference title with a whole day to spare. Meanwhile, the University of New Oxford, a semifinalist last year, won their whole conference tournament, with Ashur El-Amin doing a wonderful job to seal up the deal against St. Kitt's University, although a shock loss to the Byen School of Mines on the last matchday - only their third - did put a crimp in their momentum heading into the conference championship.

So, with conference play coming to a close, we have three schools in very good positions to win their conference tournaments and go straight in the Ultra 64, while we have UCenial in somewhat of a good position to do well and go deep into the tournament. The other four schools, unfortunately, are in unenviable positions, and will have to work extra hard in order to secure their spots in the Ultra 64. They'll have to pull off some magic and some upsets in order to get into the next stage of the NSCAA - and the stage that really matters. Let's wish them some luck here at CeniSport - they're definitely going to need it.

Inside The Lines

Chapter Seven: Revenge

“Is this what you wanted?” asked Morgan Leth, as she met with her former friend Zara Nyberg for the first time since Zara was named as the source of the anonymous reports that had been sent to the RCAA, that had resulted in Lazaga State University being investigated in the middle of their best season in decades, in which they had been able to have moderate success domestically before breaking out in international play and taking down some of the better teams in the world. “You were upset that you slipped up and got yourself investigated, so you decided to get revenge by bringing down the school that you used to love. You decided that because you were released from the recruiting staff and because the program cut ties with you, you would ruin everything for everyone else that's tied with the team and for the players themselves.”

“It's not like that and you know it! Yes I did this to get back at them, but I did it because they abandoned me at the first sight of trouble and did it without punishing you! I was cut from the staff because of what you did, because you were the one that helped Alexandro del Carlo cheat in school and you were the one that ran the whole operation that brought him and some of the others here,” replied Zara, a fire in her voice as she argued against the girl that had at one time been close with her. “I went down because of what you did, and you received absolutely nothing in punishment for it while I found myself out of the industry-”

“You were punished and I wasn't, because I wasn't sloppy and you were. You were stupid enough to take a picture where everyone could see del Carlo’s car in the background, before he even had that car. You can see the license plate and everything if you zoom in… And when you publicly admit that you work for the school, you've basically admitted that the school gave him the car. Yes, I organized him getting it, but you were the one that dropped it off and you were also the one who thought it was a good idea to photograph yourself with the car in the background! This whole investigation is your fault, and so is the investigation that got you released from the staff. We would have kept everything under the radar if you hadn't been that stupid-”

“I'm the stupid one for causing an investigation? You were the one that was the puppet master behind all of this, next to Jasper Holst and coach Dastrup. You were the one student that had a leadership role in all this, and yet you try to pin all the blame for the investigation on me and say that it's just that I received a punishment and you received nothing for what you did-”

“I'm saying that I don't deserve a punishment because I'm not the one that was stupid about it. I kept everything secret and I did everything I could to make sure nothing got out about what we were doing. And you went in and messed everything up by talking to the investigators and narcing on all of your former friends and all of the players that you used to help. It's one thing if you just went for revenge on me somehow, but it's another thing to betray the players that you used to spend your time helping. Hell, you like Alexandro so much because you're the one that recruited him, but you've ruined his college legacy. Everyone is going to see an asterisk next to his wins, because you couldn't hold back your desire to get even with me.”

“I didn't mean to betray the players, I just meant to get back at you and it snowballed into this. It doesn't even matter now, Morgan, because this is all over and all we’re waiting on is how hard the RCAA is going to come down. We already know that they are, but the question is how much. Yes, I was stupid, but at least I was loyal to the program until they stopped being loyal to me. On the other hand, you and Jasper were willing to cut ties with me completely as soon as the RCAA started looking a little too closely at me. It's karma, plain and simple. Now, did you just come here to berate me, or what?”

“I came here to say goodbye, because this will probably be the last time that we see each other. I have plans to get out of here if the decision is too harsh, and before I go, I wanted to see you one last time and at least see if you're sorry about what you did. But since you aren't, I'm just going to skip to the goodbye… It was nice knowing you for a year, Zara. I just hope that you're able to sleep at night, knowing how much you ruined the careers of some people and damaged the reputations of others, permanently. You've put a black mark on my name and the names of others, and we’re going to be hard pressed to find work in the industry after this. In other words, you've killed my dream and ended my career before it could begin, just for some petty revenge. I hope you're happy.”

“Doesn't matter, Mo. It's done. Finished. There's nothing I can do now, and even though I might have done some things differently, I've done what I'm trying to do… Now, it's just time to wait and see what the RCAA is going to do, because they're really the ones that control your fate.”

~

“I have valued my time at Lazaga State University, and this was certainly my most challenging job but also the most rewarding. Out of major conference schools in the country, ours was one of the worst when I arrived… I'd like to think that my biggest achievement career wise was waking up the sleeping dragon that this program is, and leading us back to getting wins and bringing in quality players,” said head coach Ryan Dastrup, during a press conference that was being held in Lazaga about the future of the basketball program. “The Shadow Conference has also been my most challenging test yet, and I'm proud of the way my team has played up to the competition and risen to the top after being picked to finish near the bottom. It really is one of our most impressive seasons, ever.”

He took a deep breath, looking up at the cameras that were rapidly flashing. “However, our program has come under fire recently. Long story short, the Redvali College Athletics Association has been investigating us for several violations, which include impermissible benefits and failure to control our staff and players. As much as this pains me, I have to admit that these allegations are not wrong. Our program has done some things wrong, and I have to take the blame for not watching things closer and keeping us free of violations. I haven't controlled my staff, my players, or paid enough attention to what's going on under me to avoid these violations, and I take one hundred percent of the responsibility for what happened under my watch. I have to apologize to the fans for this, who now have to watch their team’s best season in recent memory marred by an investigation, and by the players, who have had their fame stolen by the news of impending sanctions.”

After a pause, he sighed and looked back down at the paper where he had written his speech. “Because of my failure as a head coach and as someone that's supposed to represent this great university, I will be resigning from my position… My resignation is effective at the end of the regular season, and my head assistant coach, Jasper Holst, will take over as interim head coach during the conference tournament. The program will not be receiving any sanctions that take away wins or scholarships, but I have been charged with failure to control, and I have decided that the best option is to accept the punishment and go above and beyond what's required of me by stepping down… I don't know what the future holds, I may retire or I may not. We’ll see. Again, I want to thank everyone that I've worked with at Lazaga State. It's been great, everyone. I do wish that it would have ended better…”

ARROWSWORD & BIG SEVEN FIVE
Conference Cutoff: Quarterfinals and Semifinals

Alright, I don't have a witty pun or relevant song in mind for tonight's cutoff, so you just get the song I'm listening to right now.

Here's the results. Good luck on winning to the finalists and good luck on making the At-Large to the losers.

I've following some games of the NSCAA and some results are quite surprising.
Where to start? The Natanians and Nosts Palæontological-Centered Research University is in fifth place! They scored more than 1000 points and have positive point difference. They haven't been training for years, but that's surprisingly good.A friend told me that he read an article that was angry over a team losing to them, and the worse they called the NPRU Nostian, like they don't consider themselves Nosts, and the wrod is Nost not Nostian. So with two games left in the Full House conference the Natanians and Nosts Palæontological-Centered Research University can reach 42 points, but the way untill there will be hard, they must face the Empire of Catsian Isles University and the 2nd place,Z'ai'ai University of Technology whom we already defeated.
At the Mezzanine conference, the Natanians and Nosts Scientific University finished in ninth and will play against a Universidade de Lisboa to go to the quarterfinals.Theri season wasn't good, and if the win, they will face the first placed school the Old Mountain University.Who also finished in ninth was Northern Natanians and Nosts University at the Mountain Conference (a.k.a. Fjell Konferanse[yes,I did the researches!]),they'll play a game and if they win they will face the Centralia Automotive Institute.
For the folks at the Northern University of The Republic of Natanians and Nosts,it's all, they were eliminated after finishing in 8th at the Royal Conference, they beat the Alliance Wings Exchange University, but lost to Cemmendy Tech.
Sextíliu José Marques University with two games yet to play at the Terranean Conference and in sixth place, they have not much to complain.Having scored more than 1500 points, but with a negative point difference they may not keep their position. The university that has some different status compared to the others, also the only one federal and public university named after a person has a team that has gone beyond much of the spectatives.
The Natanian University disappointed its students after doing really poorly and finishing in tenth place with the worst point difference at their conference. They will play against Harston Harbor [sic] College and if they win, they'll robably get eliminated at the quarterfinals by the University of Klyde. The Nostsian University, the University named after the Nosts, but as a national joke and greatest rivals of the Natanian University, are currently ninth at the Longtail conference.Under very improbable circumstances they can finish in seventh, but this would depend of a combinations of results and only, only if they win both of their games by an absurd point margin. And last, but not least there's the Southern Natanians and Nosts Univeristy,in a more complicated position.7th,8th and 9th placed teams are tied in points;together with them are University of Central Knepp and Yochester college, who will get the best place at the play-ins?

I hope you enjoied this, and that you follow the NSCAA tha will be on t.v.,at least the coverage for the Universities of Natanians and Nosts.
