What is this?
A college basketball tournament, modeled after the NCAA Tournament in the real world.
Who is hosting?
Unlike other competitions, the NSCAA basketball tournament uses a collection of hosts, instead of one single person. Each host will be assigned anywhere between 1-3 Conferences to scorinate; and then when it comes time for the final NSCAA Tournament, they are the nations that will host regionals (hosts are expected to scorinate their respective regionals). The location for the the final four has yet to be determined. As there was no tournament last year, anyone is eligible to host the final four.
Hosts will be required to use xkoranate, but may choose whatever scale they desire for implementing RP bonus. However, it is mandatory to apply a RP bonus for a roster posted by a nation.
How do I sign up? (READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY)
When you sign up, include up to eight schools from your nation, but rank them in order of preference. If there ends up being more signups then expected, I may eliminate schools at the bottom of you list. I will reiterate the bolded part, because last time just bolding it wasn't enough: list them in order of your preference!! So the bottom schools will be the ones you are most willing to leave out if some schools must be cut. Also, the nations at the top of your list will be considered your better schools, and when putting the conferences together, I will try to mix and match things, so that for example, the favorite school of ten different participants are not all in one conference, and are spread out.
Also, when signing up, place your national trigramme after the name of each school. (Not just one of them).
Format:
*Please note that there is no set number of conferences right now. The amount of conferences will depend on the number of sign-ups.
10 teams/ Conference
- Triple Round Robin (27 games)
- Four games per day until the final regular season day, where three games will be left
- Each conference holds a conference championship, which the winner of automatically advances to the 64-team tourney
12 team/ Conference
- Triple Round Robin (33 games)
- Five games per day until the final regular season day, where three games will be left
- Each conference holds a conference championship, which the winner of automatically advances to the 64-team tourney
16 team/ Conference
- Double Round Robin (30 games)
- Five games per day
- Each conference holds a conference championship, which the winner of automatically advances to the 64-team tourney
In all conferences, scoring should be done every other day. The conference championship will be up to each individual scorer, but I have a preferred format that I'd like to see used in order to end all conferences at around the same time. With ten colleges per conference, I'd love to see the lowest four play on the first day to advance to the eight team playoff, then one round per scoring day until your championship ends. With twelve teams, it'd be the best four teams already being in the round of eight, while the other eight play to move into that round of eight. Then it advances from there like normal. With sixteen times, it'd be a normal tournament. If you choose not to follow that, I have no problem, but I'd prefer to keep it somewhat uniform.
With the playoffs, the conference champion automatically qualifies for the tournament. The rest of the teams are decided by a committee made up of every person who scorinated a conference during the season. Each round will be scored by the person who runs that particular region, and scorinating will happen every other day. The final four and championship will be scorinated by the organizer of the tournament, unless a conflict of interests should occur. However be very aware that every effort is made to keep schools from the same nation away from each other in the NSCAA bracket for as long as possible; and to keep potential regional hosts from possibly scorinating games involving their own schools. This can cause some schools to "jump up" or "fall down" in regards to their general seeding.
Deadlines:
Signups will be kept open for two week. They will close Wednesday, March 15th, 2016 at around 10 EST.
If you wish to host a conference or two or three, indicate this on your signup. (if you only want one conference, please specify). Anyone who is an established host on NS Sports that wishes to be a host here can make plans now that they will be hosting something.
That said, this is also a great way for nations who have RP'd on NS Sports but never hosted, to get their first hosting experience. Even if you are not a basketball fan, and you are looking to get that first experience somewhere, I strongly suggest getting involved here. As long as you have shown yourself to be a consistent roleplayer in other competitions, then you will get a chance. Complete newbies to NS Sports will not get a chance to host a conference yet.
