During the off-season of the MPL, the sixteen teams who will compete in Mercedini's top-tier next season were all busy doing business with other teams from across Mercedini and across the rest of the multiverse. Sporting Rafelonia and RFK Ogdenagorv were the two teams that were promoted from National League 1, which means they were the teams who many expected to be the busiest as they aimed to improve their squads to make it a successful first season in the Premier League. There were also plenty of transfer rumours featuring top Mercedinian talent and Mercedinian clubs who hoped to improve their squad and improve interest in their team and the league as a whole. After many weeks, we finally had our finalised rosters for next season including all of the ins and outs regarding MPL teams. We will go through them including the big movers and any potential bargain buys which could impress for their team for the upcoming season.

Sixteen players were purchased by MPL clubs during the transfer window, with a total NS$ 24,500,000 spent on those players who will make Mercedini their home for the upcoming season. After Zoloroni City surrendered the MPL title to their capital rivals, they set out with the soul purpose of spending big to attract the multiverse's top talent, and that is exactly what they did. They smashed the incoming transfer record and beat out teams from Apox, Eshan, Pasarga and Abanhfleft in an eye-catching moving which saw City secure Cenian Iain Cyn-Penzag's services for $12,000,000 in the biggest transfer of the window from the MPL's perspective. Last season's Terranean League East top scorer got the big money move he was after with many believing it could be a risk to put such a promising player in a developing league, he will be the second Cenian in the team after Falcon, who has solidified her position in the team with a series of decent midfield performances in the past two seasons. Zoloroni City's big money move couldn't be matched by the other teams, but there were plenty of moves which will peak the interest of their respective fans, with plenty of cash flying about before the window shut. Indeed, the next best piece of business was completed on deadline day with Langtree United eventually finalising details to sign Drawkish winger Rebecca Talla from Schottic champions Handon United for a fee of around five million which fills in the gap which was vacated by a released player. It will add a new element to United's play due to the sheer height of the new addition which will no doubt be a threat during corners and set-pieces for the upcoming season. Out of the two promoted teams, it was Sporting Rafelonia made the biggest splash onto the MPL stage, spending big and bringing in two players from overseas to compliment their team which won the National League 1 and got to the SBCC Playoffs last season. They will once again be in the SBCC this season, and strengthened their squad with two signing in goal and in midfield. Their big move was for Magnus Enderssen which moved from Dinamo N-City to the newly promoted side in the north-east for a significant $4,000,000 fee from Natanians and Nosts. After that, they completed their rather efficiant business with the transfer of Schottic midfielder Ruth Finch who moved from Marionville to Rafelonia for $1,000,000, which completed a high quality, low quantity window for Sporting. Meanwhile, RFK Ogdenagorv kept their cards close to their chest during the transfer window with only two foreign players moving plus the fact that they didn't spend any money on said players. Another Natanians and Nosts player entered the MPL, raising the number from 0 to 2. Making the trip up north to Ogdenagorv was Joao Cravelha who was the second NatNost to fly to Mercedini, he will play for Ogdengorv after moving on free from the N&N second division, after that, Semarland player Anders Sundstrom was the next player to be announced in a short press conference, he will be moving from FC Nuholm on a free transfer which completes the RFK front line which will be supported by the existing players who were promoted last season. Elsewhere, it was a quiet window for strugglers Plympton Town who bought in a couple of players to strengthen their squad after they released some players from last season's roster. Added to their roster was first Semarland striker Johannes Kiristoffersen and then finally Max Stelicher who were both acquired via free transfers from their former clubs, whether Plympton can survive another season remains to be unknown, although they may be under severe pressure from the promoted teams throwing money at the market to get promising youth prospects and proven players from some of the best leagues in the world. Elspachia got their business done early in the window in a transfer that not many were expecting. They raided the pool of talent in the Schottic SPL and plucked out Felix Gallan from recently relegated Jena VB for an outrageously low half a million. Schottia is the hot kid on the block at the moment with a rapidly developing league plus the World #1 ranking of it's national team means Schottic players are hot property. Gallan will complete the Elspachia front line who will compete in the Globe Cup for the second successive time and joins a team who has been a dark horse for the previous couple of seasons, perhaps they can break the monotonous Zoloroni top two and challenge for the title which would be impressive for a team of their size and influence. The other team who spent a sizable amount of money was AFC Langtree who shelled out $2,000,000 to improve their leaky back line with the addition of Abanhfleft's Charles Viger from Pridnestrovia's Kesselburger Kickers, they were close to a Globe Cup spot previously but languished in mid-table for most of last season, they hope to fix up the holes in their defence in order to see themselves through matches which is where they failed last season. The remaining series of moves were all picked up on free transfers by teams sitting in mid table without much of a threat to the big guns competing in international football on a regular basis. Hoping to change that is Hoventon & Corlington Town, who have come into significant riches thanks to a sale which will be mentioned later on in this piece. They invested in youth this time around, as it has been a decent source of revenue for the team, developing academy players which have gone on to play for the national team. This time, they bought in Cenian left-back Giovanni Soto from the Pinnacle Project to bolster their patchy defence. There was also a bit of history made as the MPL had it's first Chromatik arrival in the shape of Enigma Armageddon, the midfielder moves on a free transfer from his former high school into a Hoventon midfield which will support the new arrival during their debut season. Both players are extremely mouldable when it comes to play style and will likely be developed by the well-equipped Hoventon academy, in order to craft these players into a force in not just the MPL but in international football as well. Rounding up the incoming transfers, Acoflosa United bought in three players to fill in the gaps left by released players which gave them a chance to strengthen their midfield and defence which has seen them languish in mid-table for the previous two seasons. Nepharan Costil Pryce, Brenecian Rosa Day and Semarland's Jonas Hoxstad will all head to the nation's third largest city to play in Mercedini for the first time, in hope of lifting their new employers up the table and into the UICA spots. Finally, Brampton United only completed one transfer during the window, and that was a free transfer for a Nepharan goalkeeper. Jordan Latchley will make Mercedini his home for the foreseeable future and will play in goal for the upcoming season, whether he will be able to keep his team up for another season remains to be seen, although they may struggle when coming up against high quality opposition.

Thirteen players were sold by MPL clubs during the transfer window, generating a combined revenue of NS$ 30,500,000 which will line the pockets of our MPL clubs at the expense of a player being removed from their rosters and departing Mercedini for their new teams abroad. After taking up more than it's fair share of space on the gossip column, Ben Chollotov's move abroad was confirmed in this window, and it was a familiar face who snapped him up following several days of negotiations between multiple teams across the multiverse. He had a very successful loan spell in Azoth which saw Chillotov secure his team the championship title, a spot in the Champion's Cup next season and, individually, earned the young player of the year award and a spot on the team of the year for the season. After those achievements, it was no surprise that Azoth came knocking once again for his services to help them with the upcoming Champion's Cup campaign. Chillotov ultimately got the permanent move he wanted with Hoventon squeezing $17,000,000 out of the Cenian club, leaving the player and both clubs happy with the outcome with this transfer. It obviously breaks the transfer record by two million after Billic went another Cenian club in Myrmidon last season for fifteen million. It may be difficult to break that transfer record in the future, but Hoventon & Corlington Town have certainly profited greatly from the sale of their hometown boy done good, it could propel then to greatness with this big cash injection into the club. Zholvi Athletic, who were surprisingly relegated towards the end of last season, had plenty of business to be doing to deal with the financial shock of moving into a lower division and that started with a mini-exodus of players to teams abroad. The most lucrative deal was done with Chromatika's Crossroads Crusaders who acquired Qasden defender Teutorgios Aloisi for $4,500,000 which will certainly help Zholvi with an immediate return to the MPL with that cash injection to the club. Zholvi also sold two players on a free transfer, the two USI players had been lacklustre for the relegated side and were offloaded to clubs in Natanians and Nosts and Oontaz Dert Li Ng. The other relegated side was Coral Island FC, it was a fairly dull window for them save for a few departures from their foreign players. The only piece of business they did was the successful sale of Boney winger Newton Angarrack to Chromatik side Pria Pride (hey, that rhymes). It lifts some of the financial strain off the club, so they can use the revenue generated from their transfers to act as a safety cushion should revenue drop due to lack of sponsorship or falling ticket sales at the gate, so many relegated sides so sell some of their players to act as a buffer just in case something goes awry in the future when in a lower division. Onto the other clubs, and it was an efficient window for Elspachia and Zoloroni City when it came to offloading players to make way for renewed talent in their main team. The former title holders sold Iron Syndicate defender Adam Sale for $3,000,000 to Taeshani outfit Laketown Rangers, while Elspachia, who will play in the Globe Cup for the second successive season, sold Osarius striker Mabriel Garrido for the same price to Extreme Hills from Nephara. Garrido has been clinical in front of goal, and it will be interesting to see how the team outside of Zoloroni copes with the change of personnel upfront. Next, Brampton completed the transfer of Cosumarite defender Ivan Hemeyer to another Nepharan team, this time is was Diamondqueen who paid $1,500,000 for Hemeyer's services. Aside from the permanent moves, there were also two loan moves completed, which saw younger players move abroad for a season to develop their skills before heading back to the MPL with more skills to give to their before. Golden boot runner-up two seasons ago Chase LeBlanc agrred a deal with an undisclosed team in the Gallian Premier League to head out on loan for a season, the Quebecois striker can develop his skills after being ousted by former record transfer Lukas Rashford, who took his spot last season. The other loan move involved Christian Vacek Jr., the young Anglatian wasn't likely to fit into the squad at AFC Langtree due to his age, so he has now moved to Rozzy North End on a season-long loan in order to mature as a player and to play regular football in a league which is developing nicely at it's own pace. Other that that, it was mainly players from the Amberian Islands and the Unified Sunrise Islands that were sold on free transfers which paved the way for those teams to free up their rosters for more exciting prospective players.

Aside from the outgoing transfers during the most recent window, there were also 16 players which were released by their respective clubs, sending them out into the wilderness for another club to pick them up. The released players mostly consisted of players from Unified Sunrise Islands and Amberian Islands whose nations have now ceased to exist, meaning they no longer have a chance of being selected for their national side in any capacity. The only expections to that rule are Maluco from Dainer and Gerin-Lajoie from Gadirya who were released due to their position being stacked from the club's point of view, with the latter being released for a loss after Coral Island signed him for $100,000 two seasons ago. The released players will have a second chance at a different club, their time in Mercedini has come to an end which means their former clubs can invest in new talent from Mercedini and the rest of the multiverse.

League & Format Reforms

Here at Mercedini Sports Daily, we're always trying to keep up with the times, that's why we're reporting on a new set of reforms bought in by the plethora of Mercedinian governing bodies around the nation which will aid in increasing competitiveness and excitement for the clubs involved and for national and international fans. Along with that, we will updating how we format our league coverage for our readers at home which will make things easier to understand all around. Mercedinian Football Leagues

The following reforms will be effective for the upcoming season of the Mercedinian Premier League, unless explicitly stated otherwise:

Updated rosters for all MPL teams in the upcoming season will now be communicated through a separate post before the start of each season. This is to ensure that readers can easily view the rosters and ensure a streamlined reading experience for everyone going forward.
The Mercedinian Premier League will now have an extra relegation spot for the upcoming season and beyond, meaning three teams will now be relegated from the Premier League to National League 1. This also means there will be an extra automatic qualification available for the teams competing in National League 1. Now, the top two are automatically promoted while teams placed 3rd to 6th will compete for one promotion spot in the playoffs. It also changes the SBCC qualification parameters, with all three promoted teams qualifying for the tournament, instead of the league champion and the two play-off finalists.

Mercedinian Hockey Leagues

The following reforms will be effective for the upcoming season of the Mercedinian Super League, unless explicitly stated otherwise:

Updated rosters for all MSL teams in the upcoming season will now be along with the results to keep a consistent record of the players involved with each team, so foreign interests can now see which players are impressing in Mercedini's top tier.
More in-depth season reports will now be given for each team in the MSL, including a review of their season and a run down of the team's top performers and hot prospects. This will help domestic and international readers to understand the teams a bit better and get a feel for their future trajectory
The Mercedinian Development League (MDL), the nation's second tier for hockey, will now be included in the post for the season. It will include a further ten teams looking to earn promotion to the nation's top tier and perhaps a shot at earning qualification to the Hockey Champions League. It's RP wont be as developed as the first tier, however it will give our readers a look into Mercedini's hockey community.
Promotion and Relegation spots will also be modified to make both leagues more competitive. The team who finishes in last place in the MSL will now be relegated directly from the league, rather than enter a relegation playoff. They will be replaced by the winner of the MDL, meaning we are guaranteed that the list of teams will change season upon season. Along with that, a promotion/relegation playoff will be played between the team who finished 9th in the MSL and the team who finishes 2nd in the MDL. The two will play a two-leg home and away tie with the winner playing in the MSL next season, whether that team kept their place in the MSL or the got promoted from the MDL remains to be seen.

Qualifying Rounds

Today, the Mercedinian season formally kicks off as the final rounds of MFA Cup Qualifying enter the fray. Sixteen teams remain and have battled hard through the non-televised rounds of qualification and will battle out for the remaining four spots in the MFA Cup proper. All teams involved in qualifying are two matches away from facing one of the nation's larger clubs and four matches away from potentially playing a MPL club in the third round. Teams from the MPL, the two National Leagues and the four qualifying teams will all face off in this season's domestic trophy, with only one team will come out as the victors of this season's MFA Cup. The fixtures involving league teams will be intermingled throughout the league calendar, and if matches result in a tie, the reverse fixture will be played in a replay. If the replay results in a tie after regulation time, then it will run to extra time and penalties if need be. This season's MFA Cup Qualifiers were split into regions, one from the east and one from the west to cut travelling times and costs for our non-league teams with two from each section moving on to the MFA Cup proper.

The Fourth Qualifying Round of the MFA Cup meant the official football calendar had begun in Mercedini with sixteen teams hoping to put their name into the qualifying play-off draw. As stated before, eight teams each from the East and the West faced off with only one replay coming from the eight fixtures played in the round. In the East, two debutants breaking their club records for the deepest run in the MFA Cup both went one round further as Sanzana Celtic and Langtree South Down defeated their opponents in the fourth qualifying round to advance to the play-offs for the first time. They were joined by Trivotex Academy and big spending Blue Strike Zoloroni who thrashed Colwyn Park Avenue 5-0 on home turf, the biggest win of the round. Meanwhile in the West, more debutants were making a run in the cup to line the coffers and please their fans. Wilton Barrow edged out Maaston Athletic in a narrow match between the two teams which could have gone either way, while Shebchetsik City recorded a surprising win over Loftenshire Southerners, a team who were playing in the football league only a couple of seasons ago. They managed to force a goalless draw at home before hitting five past them to book their place in the playoff. Kirkenton Rovers continued their cup run following last season's qualification as they beat Yushek Island 2-0 away, with Colton & Dorvin Albion completing the line-up, knocking out Austerplatz in a five goal thriller.

Following the qualifying playoff round, we finally had our line-up for the MFA Cup proper with the four qualifying teams successfully navigating through qualifying to book a lucrative spot in the nations biggest domestic cup competition. In the East, Blue Strike Zoloroni made it two in two as they strolled through their match against Langtree South Down in a 4-2 goal fest in the Blue Strike Arena in the nation's capital, the team will likely go on to play a team in the football league which will be a big test for the commercial club. Meanwhile, the fan-owned Sanzana Celtic made club history by overcoming Trivotex Academy to book their spot into the first round to face a club many time bigger than their own. In the West, we were guaranteed one familiar face and new boy to the list of teams thanks to a competitive western draw. Wilton Barrow blew a one-goal lead as Shebchetsik City came from behind to become the second team from the city to make an appearance in the tournament. In the other match, Kirkenton Rovers qualified for the second successive time as they surprisingly knocked out the strong team 3-0 away, catching the eyes of the clubs who join in round one as a club to watch. The four qualifiers will be joined by the 20 clubs from National League 2 in the first round proper.

The opening matchday of the Mercedinian Premier League gave fans of the nation's top league plenty to be excited as teams up and down the country held their dreams that they could qualify for the UICA tournaments or potentially win the title. Twenty teams kicked off on the opening day with the defending champions Zoloroni Metropolitan plus the two promoted teams from Ogdenagorv and Rafelonia were all at home while UICA challengers Zoloroni City, Langtree United and Hoventon & Corlington Town had to travel for their opening match. A big surprise occurred in Snowflake Stadium as a spirited Carvi Albion performance snatched a draw from under the noses of the champions with Cup of Harmony champion Hugo Grec netting the equaliser at the very start of the second half. Meanwhile, Zoloroni City opene dtheir account with a 4-2 win in Brampton with the points being made safe by the young Cenian duo Sofia Falcon and MPL record transfer Iain Cyn-Penzag to put them at the top of the table after one match. They were joined by Langtree United who made sure that it wasn't a fairy-tale start for RFK Ogdenagorv at they cruised into a 3-0 lead at half time, before surviving a late scare to wrap up the win through Nepharan striker Morton. However, Sporting Rafelonia fought hard in their first ever MPL match against Saabham Forest with Danzek scoring what eventually would turn out to be the winning goal. Around the grounds, there were opening wins for Acoflosa United, the Armed Forces and Dynamo Shebchetsik with title contenders Elspachia and Hoventon sharing the spoils in a goalless draw at the Sevada Stadium.

Only two matches in and there are some familiar faces already edging their way to the top of the board, although a resurgent force found themselves surprisingly at the top of the table. The Mercedini Armed Forces find themselves leading the pack following their comprehensive victory over Saabham Forest away from home to record six goals for and only one goal against for the team. They have company as a resurgent Langtree United caused more pain for the defending campions as they came from behind to run away with it in the second half, eventually winning 4-2 in the Langtree Metropolitan Stadium. Another team with a perfect record is Zoloroni City who narrowly edged past newly promoted Sporting Rafelonia, Audioslavia's Bert van Eyck heading in from an corner in the second half. Elsewhere, Plympton Town needed a late winner against Dynamo Shebchetsik to record their first points of the season, with AFC Langtree doing the same thing after comprehensively beating Orga City in the FLR Stadium. Following their goalless draw against each other, both Elspachia and Hoventon remained the only teams yet to concede a goal in the league with Elspachia signing Felix Gallan scoring his first goal for the club in a 1-0 win away at Acoflosa United, while youth prospect Kyle Ekryna netter along with Nepharan Brandan Woodbridge scored for Hoventon to see off RFK Ogdenagorv who remain without a win. Rounding out the action, a lone goal from Semar striker Kristofferssen was all it took for Brampton to see off Carvi in a match where defences ruled the day.

Three matches in and the table is already beginning to take shape with the leaders and relegation candidates beginning to be picked out following a revealing set of results from match day three. Zoloroni City put pay to the Armed Forces' flawless record in the league in a match when Cenian signing Cyn-Penzag came into his own with a brace for his new team, winning 2-0 at the Memorial Centre in Kirkenton. They still have not got to the top spot yet as Langtree United have stormed their opening three games under the watchful eye of Wasal Kalb from Pasarga. A great performance saw them record their first clean sheet of the campaign by beating a mediocre Brampton 3-0 away from home with new Drawkish signing Rebecca Talla scoring with a towering headed goal. Zoloroni Metropolitan finally recorded their first win of the season, with a convincing 2-0 over rapidly ascending Hoventon, lifting them to mid table. Thanks to the Armed Forces losing, Elspachia jump up to third following their less than convincing performance against AFC Langtree, they have seven points and become the only team yet to concede, hovever attacking may be a worry as the team has only scored twice in three games. Around the grounds, RFK Ogdenagorv recorded their first ever MPL points as they fought until the end to nick a point in front of their own fans against Acoflosa United with a last gasp strike from Stephan Kohut. Sporting Rafelonia came down with a bang as Carvi Albion ran riot in the Gavret Sports Arena in a 3-0 win which saw DeShawn Jay net twice. Further wins for Shebchetsik and Orga lift them up the table to put them in position for a promotion charge later in the season

Plenty of talking points in the fourth match day with some streaks continuing, some streaks coming to an end plus plenty of movement and big results to focus on. Starting with the title race, Zoloroni City and Langtree United are racing ahead of the chasing pack as they both make it four wins in four to now sit four points ahead of third place. The Toxic Derby is always a spectacle for fans of the game, with new restrictions being put into place this season meaning away fans are banned from entering the stadium for both fixtures featuring the two teams. So, the rather biased crowd were pleased when they overcame a tough Shebchetsik side to win by a convincing margin in the end. For Langtree United, it was a lot tougher with Rafelonia already winning a match plus a good performance against Zoloroni City already proved to the rest of the league that they could hang with the big boys. Nevertheless, United controlled the match and eventually broke down the spirited performance of the newly promotes side to score with about ten minutes remaining. Meanwhile, the defending champions just can't catch a break in the opening matches of this season as they drop points yet again to a team many were expected to beat. Acoflosa United were the ones to come out with a point this time, with Taezhong's second half strike saving the blushes of the capital side. Elspachia finally conceded a goal to none other than the smallest team in the league, RFK Ogdenagorv. Schottian signing Gallan converted a first half penalty but Ogdenagorv managed to stay in it and snatched a point at the very end, silencing the Sevada Stadium thanks to Joao Cravelha's headed goal. Hoventon's development saw them cruise to a 4-0 victory in the Community Stadium with youngster Kyle Ekryna opening the scoring. There were also wins for Carvi Albion, Orga City and AFC Langtree.

Not too many surprises in the fifth round of matches, however one big result sticks out regarding the title race. A trip up from Langtree United at the hands of the Armed Forces has gifted a three point lead in the MPL after five matches. A poor performance from Wasil Kalb's group combined with a handful of fateful goals from the Armed Forces gave them a 3-1 win and lifts them into the Globe Cup spots. All Zoloroni City needed to do was avoid loss to be clear at the top, and that's exactly what they did as Cyn-Penzag netter a brace to take his team racing into an eventual 3-1 win against Orga City. Elspachia inflicted more pain onto the champions with a 3-3 draw at Snowflake Stadium in the nation's capital, Schottia's Gallan netted another brace in what may turn out to be a bargain signing for the club. Saabham Forest recorded their first win against Plympton Town with Henry Clifton's strike before the half-hour mark proving to be the winner. That result, combined with RFK Ogdenagorv's draw against AFC Langtree, results in Brampton United slipping to the bottom of the table after they lost at home to Acoflosa United. Finally, Carvi and Shebchetsik shared the spoils to keep both teams firmly in mid-table.

First round of the MFA Cup is always a big day, especially so if you were able to qualify from non-league. We were guaranteed at least one qualified team through to the second round as Kirkenton and Blue Strike faced off against each other. In that match, Blue Strike came through as comfortable winners in the end. Sanzana Celtic caused another shock as they knocked out Zoloroni Park in front of their own fans to move onto the next round. Shebchetsik City was the final qualified team, however they bowed out of the tournament when they lost to Yate Town in Mercedini's third-tier. All winning teams moved onto the next round where National League 1 enters the fray.

The 6th match day brought us hardly any surprises as the results generally went the way of the title contenders. Mercedini Armed Forces' early challenge looks to have faded away as Hoventon turn what was looking a goalless draw into a less than convincing 2-0 in a match where neither team was far from their best. Zoloroni Metropolitan finally got back on track as three unanswered goals over the two halves proved to be to much for Ogdenagorv who scored the opening and closing goals of the game. Both Langtree United and Zoloroni City came through tight games against mid-table oppositions, with Langtree exchanging goals in the first half with Dynamo Shebchetsik to ultimately come through, while City had to come from behind in their own back yard against Plympton Town before Cenians Sofia Falcon and Iain Cyn-Penzag linked up for the capital club to score the winner with ten minutes left. Further wins for AFC Langtree, Carvi, Acoflosa and Elspachia rounded off a rather unspectacular week for those wanting a league shake-up.

A Zoloroni City slip-up was the main talking point of the 7th round of matches as a quick exchange of goals in the opening half against relegation threatened Saabham Forest was the main action in a game where Saabham parked the bus to limit any chance that the serious title contenders could muster, a big accomplishment for the side promoted two seasons ago. That left the door open for Langtree United to close the gap at the top and they did exactly that, surviving a late scare at Orga City to find the winner in the 96th minute. In recent times, Carvi Albion have announced themselves as a potential Globe Cup candidate following their recent string of results, their latest was a 2-0 win over Plympton Town as Carvi made th best of a bad foul and a bad error from the Plympton defence. Both Hoventon and Elspachia's title hopes took a dent as they suffered late game winners from their opponents. Hoventon scuppered a 1-0 lead to lose with eight minutes to go in the match, with Elspachia's goal came even later with Sporting Rafelonia converting an 89th minute penalty to break travelling hearts. Zoloroni Metropolitan can still not catch a break, with AFC Langtree being the latest team to hold them in their own stadium. Lamorka's double proving to be the difference for the visitors. The Armed Forces got back on track as now talismanic winger Crasic scoring the only goal of the game where the military men dominated most of the possession and the chances. Finally, Ogdenagorv's woes continued, this time in Brampton as a late flurry of goals solidified the team's relegation candidate status and lifted Brampton safely into mid-table.

What on earth is happening to Zoloroni Metropolitan? For a team who spent big in the previous window to secure their first title last season, they sure are struggling this season now their tactics have been figured out. Audible boos could be heard in Snowflake Stadium as Brampton United became the latest team to upset the odds and take home points from the nation's capital. Whether Metropolitan can salvage their season remains to be seen. Back to the title race, with both teams missing a massive opportunity to get a leg up over the other. Zoloroni City needed a 90th minute equaliser to salvage a point in the FLR Stadium, while Langtree United not being so lucky as an inspired Plympton Town entered the dragon's lair and came out alive not only with a points, but with all three, winning 2-0 in the process. In the battle of the promoted teams, Rafelonia ran riot in the Ogdenagorv National Stadium, finishing a 3-0 win with two goals in the final five minutes plus added time. Elspachia put the Armed Forces to the sword, bouncing back after a difficult couple of weeks to hit four past the visitors and placing the Armed Forces firmly back into mid-table. Finally, Acoflosa overcame a strong Shebchetsik defensive performance while Carvi, Saabham, Hoventon and Orga all earned a point in an interesting week for almost every team.

A fairly drab ninth round was completed with only one team scoring three goals throughout the eight games played over the weekend. That merit went to Zoloroni City who continued their strong run of form with a comprehensive 3-0 win over surprise package Carvi Albion at the Sports City Stadium, the two starting strikers looked well rehearsed in the match, with Cyn-Penzag seeming to be well settled in the squad. The nation's other capital side finally got another win, Metropolitan fans may have switched off early as Rafelonia went ahead and scored in the first half, but the club's youth prospect along with the club's record signing combined to turn the tables and tally another three points. Langtree United has had a bit of a wobble in recent weeks and didn't look their best in their game against Saabham Forest, however individual brilliance shone through in the end with Mercedinian Ezekiel Kramini scoring the only goal of the game. Another lone goal gave Hoventon the edge over Plympton Town with Pujanic's strike in first half stoppage time earning another win in the post-Chillotov era. The Armed Forces earn another three points at home against Ogdenagorv who still remain without a win this season, sealing the match with two goals in the opening twenty five minutes. Two late goals in two separate matches hampered two title contenders with Elspachia rueing their missed chances following a late concession in Shebchetsik, while Peter Patenkov's late header came Orga the win over Hoventon. Finally, Brampton and AFC Langtree shared the spoils at woof.park, with two clean sheets recorded in the match.

They are human after all! The title race was blown wide open as Zoloroni City was finally eclipsed by Langtree United in the big result of the week. Morton and Espinosa both netted in the match to lift their team into top spot in what was a bad day at the office for the Cityzens. In the chasing pack, Hoventon slipped up to bring them within touching distance of a number of teams nipping at their heels for a Globe Cup spot. Eastfield Lodge veteran Thomas Graham netted for Saabham as they left the Hoventon Community Stadium with a point. That gave Carvi and Elspachia the chance close the gap, and with both teams winning, it made the final two Globe Cup spots very interesting indeed. Elspacha got the better of Orga City while two goals in the last fifteen minutes rescued the match for Carvi over AFC Langtree. Acoflosa and the Armed Forces have also been thrust into the picture following their recent results. Acoflosa came up with an even more frantic slew of goals as they ran out in a 3-0 smash-and-grab at home against Plympton Town. While the Armed Forces held Zoloroni Metropolitan to a goalless draw as the pressure piles up onto the players and the management. Finally, it was honours even in the Shebnatsiya Derby as Ogdenagorv picked up another point in their maiden MPL season.

The second round came about for teams in Mercedini's second tier plus the remaining clubs who won their first round matches. History was made as Blue Strike Zoloroni became the first qualifier to make it to the third round to have a majority chance of playing a premier league side in the third round, they comprehensively beat third-tier Chapter Anston away from home. It may not have been the club that football fans wanted to break the record, but here they are, alive and kicking with no sign of letting up. In the other match featuring a qualifier, Sanzana Caltic's fairy-tale run came to an end as they ran into the brick wall that was Alton Swifts. The non-league side went down 4-0 to the second tier side but not before inspiring their fans and giving the club's finances a solid boost. Plenty of teams from National League 2 were guaranteed to make it to the third round given in some fixtures both teams were from the league, but they were joined by several teams who beat higher league opposition to move onto the third round, namely Ansav Town and Denby Town, who needed a replay to beat East Coast Mariners. All winning teams move on to potentially face a side from the MPL, big prizes and potentially big shocks lie ahead.

Zoloroni City retook the top spot in the league following their impressive win combined with a slip-up by their main rivals Langtree United. Hoventon were two goals to the good away from home at the Sports City Stadium, however a spirited performance from the league's big spender saw them claim a goal before half-time and eventually run away with the match a Cenian Cyn-Penzag bookended the home side's scoring run, putting the match out of sight in added time. They were helped by a resurgent Carvi Albion who held Langtree United to a one-all draw with Juvencus' Hugo Grec earning a point for his team with a sweet strike in the second half. League minnows RFK Ogdenagorv claimed their first win of the season with emphatic 4-2 away win against floundering Orga City, Natanians and Nosts striker Joao Cravelha scoring a hat-trick to seal the game. Elspachia's UICA hopes went slightly off course as they were soundly beaten by Plympton Town away from home, the home side ran away with the points which puts them safely out of the relegation zone. They are replaced by Saabham Forest who lost to a comprehensive performance from Acoflosa United, they now sit bottom with only six points to their name. AFC Langtree came from behind to beat Rafelonia, to see them safely into the middle of the pack, while the Armed Forces, Brampton, Shebchetsik, and Zoloroni Met all drew to further their points tally, even if it meant dropping places in the table.

Matchday twelve had few standout performances with a lack of goals prominent in nearly all matches, the sole goal fest of the week came from the Armed Forces away day to Rafelonia where both teams shared the spoils in a three all draw which saw both teams take the lead. A resurgent RFK Ogdenagorv backed up their first win last week with a second win in succession, this time at home against relegation rivals Plympton Town with Cravelha netting the winning goal yet again. The top two were both held to a draw which gave the chasing pack a chance to catch up. Both were goalless drawing which means it is possible to stamp out the seemingly free scoring top two. The biggest winners of the day were Elspachia and Hoventon who both recorded comprehensive 2-0 wins at home to close the gap and simultaneously open up a gap between themselves and those hoping for a Globe Cup spot. Shebchetsik's lone goal was enough to take them past Brampton while Zoloroni Met were held yet again, this time by Orga City.

More twists and turns in the MPL title race as Langtree United regain the lead following another set of dropped points by Zoloroni City. Hoventon & Corlinton Town were the latest team to visit the Langtree Metropolitan Stadium , but they couldnt close the gap on the top two as they were routed 5-2 with a brace from Kramini and Morton. They were helped by Elspachia who have title ambitions of their own as Gonna Calhoun netted in the opening quarter of an hour to hold Zoloroni City to a draw at the Sports City Stadium, pushing the capital side into second place. RFK Ogdenagorv made it a hattrick of wins in as many matches as a second half Maksimov stike gave them another three points to lift them into a very respectable 12th place. Another tea who is punching above their weight is Carvi Albion who jump into the Globe Cup spots following a closely fought 2-1 win against Acoflosa United with DeShawn Jay scoring the winning goal as they entered added time. Rounding out the rest of the action, the Armed Forces ended their disappointing run of form with a win at AFC Langtree, Shebchetsik moved into mid-table with a Babarushchik brace during a 2-0 win, Orga City finally put space between themselves and the drop zone with a narrow win over Brampton and finally defending champions Zoloroni Met got their campaign back on track with a near-complete perforamce at Plympton.

Another change at the top of the table as Langtree United slip up yet again to allow Zoloroni City free reign to take the top spot in the MPL table yet again. This time, it was Acoflosa United who proved to be the banana peel for out top two as they held Langtree United to a frantic two-all draw with all four goals being scored in the first half of the match. That left City needing a win to guaruntee their place at the top and in rather fortunate timing, played the smallest team in the league away from home and proptly beat them 2-0, which ended Ogdenagorv's three-match winning run. Further down in the table, Elspachia and Hoventon closed the gap on the top two to five and six points respectively as they both won in closely fought matches which saw Carvi slip out of the Globe Cup spots midway through the season. Zoloroni Met has seen a revival of some sorts in recent weeks and now sit two places outside the UICA spots following a 4-2 victory a home to Saabham Forest, with the visitors now sitting bottom, five points from safety. Around the grounds, the southern derby between Brampton and Plympton ended with a crucial win for Brampton as they attempt to escape the clutches of a relegation dogfight. Orga City move in the right direction with three points, and finally Shebchetsik and the Armed Forces played out a 0-0 draw in Kirkenton.

In the big match of the day down at the bottom, Plympton climbed out of the relegation zone with goals from Kane and Alberighi to lift them up to 14th and dropping the team they beat, Sporting Rafelonia, into the relegation zone with fellow struggers Saabham Forest picking up points to close the gap on those above them. The title race got a whole lot more interesting as the top two both dropped points yet again, giving teams like Hoventon and Elspachia the chance to close the gap even more. Elspachia did their own dirty work as they took on the crowds of the Metropolitan Stadium and came out unscathed as Schottic Gallan scored the eventual winning goal only eight minutes into the game. Wheareas Zoloroni City came a cropper in the Zoloroni Derby where they tied 1-1 with Cyn-Penzag savin the Cityzens in added time. Further wins for Shebchetsik plus draws for Orga, the Armed Forces, Carvi and Ogdenagorv rounded out the action as we reached the halfway stage of the season

No change at the top of the title contenders both breezed past easy opposition to record convincing wins in front of their home fans. Zoloroni City scoring twice without reply against Brampton while Langtree United went one better against RFK Ogdenagorv who have seen a dip in form since their three wins in a row earlier in the season. It was third versus fourth this week as Elspachia put distance between themselves and Hoventon with a late Gonna Calhoun rounding out a 1-0 smash and grab at the Hoventon Community Stadium. H&C fall out of the Globe Cup spots and are replaced by Dynamo Shebchetsik who have slowly crept up the board and made their mark with an 89th edge from Matthias Dawsell giving them the win. Carvi are another team knocking on the door of the Globe Cup spots as they send waves to the rest of the league with a stunning 3-1 win at home against defending champs Zoloroni Met, sending the visitors into 9th place and potential mid-table obscurity. Away wins for Acoflosa and the Armed Forces meant it is very tight at the top of the table as a number of teams fight for the final couple of Globe Cup spots

Park the bus, park the bus, park the bus. Those were the tactics of the Rafelonia management as they went into their match at home against Zoloroni City. Plugging the channels of their opponents, Sporting came out with the point they truly deserved, and at the same time, blowing the title race even more open than it was. Langtree United took full advantage and went level on points with the title favourites following an exciting 3-2 win against former champions Zoloroni Met who seemed to have snatched a point with goals in the 80th and 82nd minute, but Langtree werent going to be denied as Kramini won it in the 89th minute with a messy combination goal. Elspachia are now within touching distance of the top spot as they keep with the top duo with a 3-0 home win against Acoflosa, Eura youth prospect Josh Johnson with the pick of the goals. Wins for AFC Langtree, Shebchetsik and Brampton pleased their fans while another draw for the Armed Forces and Saabham kept them ticking over as the number of matches left in the season continue to count down.

Have the wheels finally come off RFK Ogdenagorv? They have fallen back into the relegation zone following a rather embarrassing 6-1 demolition job at the Coma Tudo Stadium from Acoflosa United. Further up the table, two consecutive draws had Langtree United a golden opportunity to bank their first ever MPL title, as a road block in the shape of the Armed Forces stop them in their tracks. Langtree had a much easier job of things as they knock four past Brampton to climb to the top of the pile for the third time in five or six match days. AFC Langtree finally make the statement they wanted, winning against one of the big four by taking out Elspachia and potentially fatally denting their title hopes. Hoventon reclaim the final Globe Cup spot for now as they win while Dynamo Shebchetsik become unstuck at Saabham and slip to fifth in the table. Finally, Rafelonia climb out of the drop zone with a win at Carvi, while Orga put more distance between themselves and the relegation dogfight with a 2-0 win.

No change at the top of both Zol City and Langtree United won their respective matches. In a hostile environment, Cyn-Penzag won the match with a break away goal which was effectively the last kick of the game, causing the home fans to throw projectiles onto the pitch at the City players, rowdy events in the Razrabotka Stadion. Langtree United played in the much safer environment of the Gavret Sports Arena and came out 1-0 winners against the newly promoted side. Elspachia and RFK Ogdenagorv was the match which caused the biggest surprise, with the small side scoring at the very end of the first half to lift themselves out of the drop zone and almost certainly but the number one spot out of reach for the club outside the nation's capital. Hoventon couldn't capitalise on that loss and also fell to Brampton who now sit safely above the relegation zone. Further wins for Plympton, Orga, Carvi push them all up the table, while Zoloroni Met and Acoflosa share the spoils at Snowflake Stadium.

We are officially on countdown for the end of the season at the twentieth match day came around, and we are back to square one in the title race as a Langtree United home draw against the Armed Forces combined with a Zoloroni City win at home versus Orga City means the two of them are tied on 43 point with ten matches or less to go. It's clearly a two horse race as Elspachia lose their third game on the bounce with the loss against Zoloroni Met putting them down to fourth as Hoventon won against Rafelonia which puts them into third. Wins for AFC Langtree, Brampton, Carvi, Saabham gave teams from the lower portions of the table a chance to lift themselves into relative safety.

MFA Cup 4th round time and with six teams from lower leagues still remaining in the draw, neutrals could have a team to get behind if a smaller team manages to evade trouble and make it to the later rounds. The lone shock of the round came from the eastern Kingfisher Islands as their collective football team dispatched Orga City by one goal. Aside from that, there weren't too many surprises in the offing, with a fairly lopsided draw guaranteeing that at least two second-tier teams would make it to the quarter finals. Joining the Invictus would be AFC Monmouth and Exton Oilers who overcame fellow second-tier teams to make it three NL1 sides in the final eight.

We were guaranteed at least one lower league team in the semi-finals, which will be the first time it has happened since the cup's inaugural season when then NL1 Dynamo Shebchetsik made it to the semi finals. This season, it will be Exton Oilers who fly the flag for the non-MPL teams as they come through an all-NL1 affair with the Oilers beating Kingfisher Invictus 2-0 in the island derby. We could have had a second, however AFC Monmouth were swept aside by the Armed Forces and ultimately lost 4-0 at home to bow out in the quarter finals. The two huge matches featuring three of the top four plus the current league champions went the way of Langtree United and Zoloroni Metropolitan to make for a meaty semi-final draw. All teams are one step away from the Sports City Stadium and the MFA Cup Final

Langtree have never reached this stage before and will go into the match with plenty of confidence as they look to make a mends for their near miss in the MPL. They will be joined by the Mercedinian Armed Forces who have already made it to this stage before, beating Elspachia in the final two seasons ago. Plenty to speculate, but one team will walk away with the MFA Cup and a spot in the CWC next season.

During the off-season of the MPL, the sixteen teams who will compete in Mercedini's top-tier next season were all busy doing business with other teams from across Mercedini and across the rest of the multiverse. Project Olimpo Mercedini and Zholvi Athletic were the two teams that were promoted from National League 1, with the latter being promoted following a one season absence from the nation's top tier. There were also plenty of transfer rumours featuring top Mercedinian talent and Mercedinian clubs who hoped to improve their squad and improve interest in their team and the league as a whole. After many weeks, teams finally had their finalised rosters for next season including all of the ins and outs regarding MPL teams. We will go through them including the big movers and any potential bargain buys which could impress for their team for the upcoming season.

In one of the biggest surprises of the transfer window, many of the clubs in the Mercedinian Premier League simply consolidated their current league roster, rather than sticking their neck out to make a statement to the rest of the league. This was seen in the handful of transfers which went through, which saw only a small amount of players leave their respective clubs to pastures new in foreign leagues. Only three Mercedinians took the option to move abroad this transfer window, with two of those being dual nationals after political collapse in their respective nations saw then nationless before accepting emergency Mercedinian citizenship to have a national team to play for. The most high profile transfer was undoubtedly the $8,000,000 move of thoroughbred Mercedinian Liam Dosic from Elspachia. A number of clubs were vying for the signature of the national team defender, before he finally accepted a move to Apoxian club Gwinevra Barbarians to ensure he gets consistent playing time at his new club, rather than play for Cenian club Myrmidon, who he played for last season and were the hot favourites to snap up the defender after declaring their interest early in the process, before Dosic switched allegiances to Apox in a surprise transfer move. Speaking of the two duel nationals, they both sold for big bucks in the transfer window with both Christian Vacek Jr and Liam Tagawa moving abroad to porve their worth to other naitions across the multiverse. Vacek Jr, a young former Anglatian was sold by AFC Langtree to Abanhfleft's Sporting Ceneisis before the Fleftic club immediately sold out Vacek Jr to Rosenpfelblatz North End in which was then the Fleftic Second Division. Tagawa took a different route when it came to transfers, with the former Redvale player departing AFC Langtree for Taeshani outfit Sleepy Hollow for the respectable price of $3,000,000. Elsewhere, Ji Hyun Jo, who remained a Redvale national through the transition period, was offloaded by Hoventon & Corlington Town for the rather sizable fee of three and a half million to make way for younger and potentially more dangerous striker upfront for the club, especially after their recent fortunes in the previous transfer windows. After missing out on the league title last season, Langtree United are hoping to make a mends with their dealings in the transfer window, and that included two players making their departure from the club. Yttribian striker Hartley Espinosa, who has contributed plenty to the fortunes of the club, finally departed for Wolvena Hiyena in Kita-Hinode, while Brenecian Tony Brough also left Mercedini, this time for Busukuma Force from Banija. Lining the pockets of the club and making space for new arrivals, more on them later. Carvi Albion also got in on the action of sales, as a late sale in the window saw Carvi and Lodger defender Fawqiyya Arvidsson departed the club for Abanhfleft's Arsenal de Releinthi for one million dollars, a sizable chunk of revenue for the small town club looking to break into the international places. Finally, the Quebecois duo of Berube and LeBlanc were the final pair to round out the transfer window as they went for relatively less than they other players departing in the off-season. After going on loan last season, Chase LeBlanc finally left the league for good in a half-a-million dollar move to Kita-Hinode while Berube left Brampton on a free transfer to Super-Llamaland, rounding out the outgoing transfers for teams in the Mercedinian Premier League.

Over to the incoming transfers in the Mercedinian Premier League, with even fewer transactions compared to the previous transfer window and even the outgoing transfers this time round, meaning the league saw net players reduce for the first time since it's inception. There were plenty of players for fans to keep an eye on though, with all of the main players attracting some form of new blood into their rosters, hoping to earn a place in the UICA tournaments for next season. The largest transfer of the window saw Langtree United secure the signature of Cosumarite midfielder Mason Windrip from Harlighet Ligan outfit IFK Aldenskoett for the fairly sizable fee of three and a half million dollars to fit into what is quickly becoming a high profile midfield trio for Langtree United, with fans hoping he will set the league alight, coming from the well developed league structure in Cosumar. Big news from Hoventon that young Fleftic sriker Kelly McGuiness finally made her move to Hoventon permanent following a $1,100,000 move and a long negotiation period between the two parties. The Felftic will return to the club after a one season absence from the league, and will return to the club where she won the MFA Cup and a spot in the Cygnus Cup, we will wait to see whether she will repeat her club heroics second time round. Hoventon also acquired the services of Apoxian midfielder Ora Espinosa for the poultry figure of 600k, to add a bit of foreign interest in the club, plus sure up the wings as Hoventon attempt to make it two in two regarding UICA competitions. In other news, dark horses Elspachia made another investment into their team with the signing of Chromatik defender Avksentiy Hildebrand. The team is well known for signing talented players for a fraction of the price paid by their competitors, but have still maintained a cohesive squad with their smaller budget. They hope that they can tighten up their defence with this signing, with many predicting them to claim another spot in the Globe Cup in the upcoming season. Acoflosa United could also be a team who could challenge for one of the four UICA spots on offer in the MPL, they have bolstered their attack with the signing of Llamaean stiker Jake Wesley from BSC Vargas for half a million, Acoflosa have been on the cusp of the international spots, but have always faltered at some point in the season and missed out on a lucrative international spot, we will see if the clubs fortunes have changed with the signing of a new striker. Finally, the club has attracted yet more youth from abroad as two Taeshani teenagers made their way into two of the club's leagues. With AFC Langtree attracting the guise of Evangeline Felps for just over a million, with AFC hoping that the large investment pays off in such a young player. The second to join the MPL was Elijah Krawford who still isn't old enough to play in the league as is, but Zoloroni City paid four hundred thousand for the services of the Taeshani, who will likely cause a splash when they join the Zoloroni City youth team in the UICA Youth Cup in the upcoming season.

That's all when it comes to the ins and outs of the transfer window, with the rosters of teams across the country now finalised for the season ahead, we will see which teams come out on top and which will languish at the bottom of the pile. In a season which saw plenty of twists and turns in the title race, Orga HC claimed their first Mercedinian Super League title, finishing three point ahead of their nearest rivals in what was a stunning turn around for the central Mercedinian team. It marks the second consecutive season that Orga will participate in the Hockey Champions League after their fourth place finish last season. Kebec international and Orga star player Fabien de Saint-Pierre was awarded with the player of the season and the golden puck, since he finished far and away the top scorer throughout the season. Proving to the fans and management he was well worth the $2,000,000 price tag paid by the club two seasons ago. A final day win over then second place SKK Ogdenagorv wrapped up the title for Orga who will likely enter the group stages automatically as winners of the MSL.

Speaking of fellow HCL qualifiers, the HK Dynamo Shebchetsik kept up their 100% record of qualification intact, although the perennial joint favourites struggled to get inside the top four, before a rally in the final handful of games carried them to an eventual second place in the table. The Shebchetsik natives worked hard to grind out a series of results which saw them finish where they did, including a final day win over champions and main rivals Zoloroni City Icers to leapfrog both their rivals and their neighbours Ogdenagorv into a second place for the team.

After keeping their place in the Super League thanks to a two-legged relegation playoff victory last season, Ogdenagorv used their new lease of life to their benefit by securing their second place in the Hockey Champions League with a third place finish in this season's Super League, although it could have been so much more for the small town club. They lead for much of he season, but a series of eventual fatal hiccups meant Ogdenagorv couldn't welcome the Super League trophy to Ogdenagorv, meaning they had to settle for third place after being overtaken first by Orga with one match day to go, while the aforementioned HK Dynamo Shebchetsik leaped over their fellow Shebnatsyia natives with a last day victory. SKK had a chance to win the title against Orga, however they were eventually overcame by the larger club, and lost 2-0 at home to the eventual champions.

Rounding out the HCL positions are perennial qualifiers Zoloroni City Icers who surprisingly struggled for most of the season before finally cementing their place in hockey's premier tournament with a couple of match days to go. The Icers were also challenging for top spot before falling away and only registering one point in the final four matches, meaning they will enter qualification for the HCL, but Mercedini highest ranked club (co-efficient wise) will be favourite out of the three qualified teams to advance to the group stage. The Icers have made it to the knockout stage twice, we will see if they can make it any further or whether their international form reflects their current domestic form.

At the other end of the table, Ozzaya Agranka go down after a rotten season where the team only recorded two wins all season. A late fightback in league gave fans hope that they could perform a miracle escape, however, they couldn't muster enough of a fight and finished one point short of their nearest rival. They will be playing in the development league next season. The other team which could be joining them is the Darlaston Wolves who have been favourites to struggle in the league, and they have finally succumbed to the pressure of the top division, meaning they will have to overcome a second division team to keep their place in the MSL

In a shock twist to the end of the second division, big favourites to get promoted to the MSL Exton Islanders were locked out of the top two promotion spots by two teams from the nation's capital in Carlsgrunik and the Sports City Youth Academy. It was a fairly stable league for the most part with Carlsgrunik and Exton the two runaway leaders throughout the season, before the Youth Academy broke through the top two and snatched a playoff place at the death, denying the Islanders an immediate return to the top flight. The Metropolitan Rangers will be playing top-tier hockey for the first time, while ZSCYA will have to come through the Wolves to join them. Everyone else will have to consign themselves to another season of Development League hockey, with Zoloroni International University finishing bottom of the pile for the second consecutive season.

Final Qualifying Round

Today, the Mercedinian season formally kicks off as the final rounds of MFA Cup Qualifying coming to fruition. Sixteen teams who have already gone through one round of qualification will battle out for the eight spots remaining in the MFA Cup proper, more on that a little later. All teams involved in qualifying are one match away from facing one of the nation's larger clubs with MPL and NL1 teams now joining in at the first round stage, rather than the second and third rounds like previous seasons. The fixtures involving league teams will be intermingled throughout the league calendar, and if matches result in a tie, the reverse fixture will be played in a replay. If the replay results in a tie after regulation time, then it will run to extra time and penalties if need be. This season's MFA Cup Qualifiers were split into teams from the east and west once again to cut travelling times and costs for our non-league teams with two from each section moving on to the MFA Cup proper. This time, there will be six rounds between the first round proper and the final, with all 56 football league teams plus eight qualifiers participating in the first round, before it's a simple knockout tournament to see who claims this season's MFA Cup and a spot in the Cygnus Cup nest season. The MFA Cup line-up was complete as eight teams advanced from the qualifiers to put their place in the first time draw, giving them all a chance to draw a big name in the first round draw. With the draw split in two to allow for shorter travel times, four teams from the east and four teams from the west made it through, with plenty of familiar names securing the final win they needed to give their club a much needed lift. In the east, FC Austerplatz produced the biggest win of the round to give their fans some well needed rest-bite from the doldrums of non-league, overcoming Monmouth United 4-0 in a one sided affair in front of their own fans. Joining them will be Sanzana Celtic, who beat a strong Colwyn Park Avenue team by a single goal to make it two in two for the small side in eastern Mercedini. While two new names in Lamenstock Island and Lena Brava advance for the first time in a long while by beating teams from the same level in the Mercedinian footballing pyramid. With Lamenstock the most impressive of the two, coming from behind to win 3-1 at the Trivotex Academy.

Meanwhile in the West, plenty more goals were fired in that region's qualifying round matches, with eighteen goals scored in the region, even if one of the matches was forced into a replay after a first leg draw. That match was between the Loftenshire Southerners and Wilton Barrow who looked to make it two on the bounce for the small town club who were denied a place in the first round first time round by a stoppage time winner. However, the team picked themselves up and managed to force the initiative in the replay at home to final push themselves through in the end. It was a tussle between the two relegated teams as well, with Colmorvia and Yate Town battling against each other in the blockbuster match of the round. Comorvia arguably did the better job of keeping their key players, and were rewarded for their efforts with a 3-1 win at home, keeping them in the MFA Cup for another season. Rounding out the action, two teams managed to clinch back to back qualifications with wins in the final round of qualifying, and two fairly comprehensive victories at that. Shebchetsik City won 3-0 while Yushek Island were tied for the top scorers in the round, beating a rather depleted Colton & Dorvin Albion 4-2 away from home.

The new season started with a bit of a crunch for Globe Cup hopefuls Elspachia as they were comprehensively ousted 6-1 on aggragate by Omerica's Ever Grande over two legs. If Elspachia want to make a serious title bid then they will have to make the Sevada Stadium a fortress, although fans may be in for a long season after going down 4-0 in the first leg, effectively ending the tie there and then. A further loss, this time in Omerica, put Ever Grande through on paper, with Felix Gallan netting the only goal for the Mercedinian side early in the second half of the second leg. At least the players can now focus solely on their domestic form...

The only second division side to take part in UICA action put the top tier teams to shame as Kingfisher Invictus romped home to a 5-2 aggregate victory against Soltseed's aptly named team 'To Be Determined', the Invicta were entering a UICA sanctioned tournament for the first time and surprisingly took their opponents apart in the first leg, giving them a commanding 4-1 first leg league as they went away to the Soltseedian (?) team, with a goal from Edison Condogbia practically sealing it for the National League 1 side just before half time. It remains to be seen whether Kingfisher Invictus can complete their fairy-tale and make it all the way to the group stages from the first round of qualifying.

Langtree United's Cygnus Cup campaign came to an early end as they were narrowly edged out of the two-leg fixture by Yesopalithan side Unbidden United, with the team coming from behind to score late and take them through to the next round. Langtree United looked determined to make it deep into the competition, but may have been distracted with eyes on their domestic league and on their upcoming Globe Cup campign aswell. In a thrilling game, they edged out their opponents by three goals to two to give them a precious first leg lead going into the away fixture. The team may well have though that they were heading through when Rebecca Talla headed home to open the scoring, but three unanswered goals from Unbidden United sent them through instead to face Turoki Tide in the first round proper.

While the defending champions are yet to kick a ball this season with their highly fancied senior team, their youth team are doing bits in the Youth Cup, with their first round victory in the Champion's Path against Northwest Kalactin's Gold Coast Capital. After tagging along with the team as champions of the MPL, the City youth squad welcomes the Kalactanians to their academy training ground, with a goal fest in the capital resulting in a 6-2 victory to pretty much send the team through to the next round. However, the team had to enter a second leg in Kalactin to officially put their names in the hat for the second round, completing a 2-0 victory. It sent a message to the teams waiting in the second round as they dispatched Gold Coast Capital 8-2 over two legs, giving the team something to smile about before their domestic season officially starts.

The new Mercedinian season officially got underway as eight matches hosted across the country got underway, with all eyes on the sixteen teams involved with national and international fans hoping their team got off on the right foot in one of the multiverse’s most quickly developing leagues. The defending champions, Zoloroni City, got off on the right foot as they travelled for their opening fixture to Rafelonia, where a lone goal from Iain Cyn-Penzag in the first half proved to be enough for the defending champions to get all three points. With rumours surrounding the Cenian that he may leave at the end of the season, you may be hard pressed to find a player more in form in the league. For the two promoted sides, it was a tough start with both teams losing their opening games, an early goal for Panvelutti in the FLR Stadium gave AFC Langtree the victory over Zholvi and reason to believe that this could be their year, while Project Olimpo were simply blown away by former champions Zoloroni Metropolitan, who scored four times without reply and sit top of the board after the first match day. In the blockbuster opening match of the round, Elspachia’s comprehensive performance saw them past potential favourites Langtree United with a brace from Schottic striker Felix Gallan, with further goals from Calhoun and Vaselko. New signings from Langtree United both got their names on the scoresheet, with both Vorthik and Santa-Corvani saving the blushes of the visiting team. Around the grounds there were further wins for Shebchetsik, Acoflosa and Brampton, while Hoventon and Ogdenagorv shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller.

The second matchday of the Mercedinian Premier League saw plenty of derbies arise at this very early stage of the season, with the movers and shakers of the league beginning to make their mark on the league with a series of good results. There was no surprise as Zoloroni City climbed to the top of the table with two wins in two with a comprehensive 3-0 Zoloroni derby victory over Zoloroni Met at the Sports City Stadium, early goals from Nymark and Sofia Falcon netted early for the home side, before City veteran Edward Mossec made the points safe with less that five minutes to go. They will be joined by the surprise package at this early stage, Brampton United, who travelled to Kirkenton to face the Armed Forced and came out the other side with a 1-0 away win to lift them up to second with six out of six points, an early goal from new signing Sigthorsson proving to be the difference. In the other derby of the day, Langtree United ran away with the three points at their Metropolitan Stadium as they but their city rivals AFC Langtree to the sword. Strikers Kramini and Vortik both scoring well worked move while the Drawkland winger Rebecca Talla used her significant height advantage to head in for the corner to wrap up a 3-0 victory. There was no let up for either of our promoted teams as they both lose, and both sit on zero points without a goal in their first two matches. Zholvi Athletic’s resolve eventually gave up in Carvi as Willis Saisi’s 63rd minute strike gave the league’s dark horses a well needed win following their opening day loss. Meanwhile, the youth academy of Project Olimpo sit joint bottom of the league as they lose at home to a strong Hoventon team, a lone penalty from Chromatika’s Enigma Armageddon settling the tie at the very end of the first half. Around the rest of the grounds, Orga City bounced back from their opening day loss with a very impressive 4-0 win at home against Sporting Rafelonia, with near-talismanic striker Olenna Tynesman netting the first hattrick of the season, scoring three times in eleven minutes. Ogdenagorv’s impressive start to the season sees them pick up another point against Elspachia, with the league’s dark horses scoring early through Felix Gallan, before eventually giving up a 72-minute lead when Nats & Nosts striker Joao Cravelha netted for the home team. Finally, it was honours even at the Razrabotka Stadion as Shebchetsik and Acoflosa earned a point each with a 0-0 stalemate.

Project Olimpo finally score, but at what cost? The youth academy was mullered away from home, just to put it lightly. Feliks Alva netted the consolation goal of all consolation goals as Elspachia ran riot at the Sevada Stadium, scoring four goals in the first half and eventually running out 7-1 winners in front of their home fans, lifting Elspachia to the summit and sending Project Olimpo the foot of the table, scoring and conceding the most goals in the league respectively. The start of their first MPL season certainly hasn’t gone how they wished. In a matchday which saw the MPL table move around quite a bit, both teams which originally had 100% records had them wiped out with new names replacing them at the top. Hoventon & Corlington Town got the better of the defending champions with a big 2-0 at the Hoventon Community Stadium. Fleftic striker Kelly McGuiness scored yet another goal for her club in what is proving to be a successful return following her season-long loan at the club two years ago. The final 100% record to fall was that of Brampton United who needed their Boney central defender to rescue a point in the second half after Dynamo Shebchetsik scored only six minutes after the interval through Cosneolta’s Dominik Bartosz. RFK Ogdnenagorv continue to surprise the league as they take yet another point from a highly fancied team, this time against AFC Langtree where they had to come from behind twice to rescue a point as the FLR Stadium, it’s now three draws in three from Ogdenagorv who have taken points from Hoventon, Elspachia and now AFC Langtree in a season which many thought the would be relegated in. Two signings got on the scoresheet in the Zholvi-Langtree United game, one on each side. Oscar Bothwell equalised following a Thomas Vorthik opener, while new Cosumarite midfielder Mason Windrip made the points safe with a stoppage time penalty to wrap up a 3-1 victory. In the oher matches, Acoflosa United look to be going strong as three first half goals took them past Carvi Albion, while Sporting Rafelonia fail to score for the third successive match and allow the Armed Forces to put their first points on the board with a 1-0 win in the Gavret Sports Arena. And finally, Zoloroni Met lose two on the bounce following their opening day win at home, this time they lost in front of their own fans to a resurgent Orga City who now sit just outside of the Globe Cup spots.

In a fairly drab fourth matchday, only ten goals were shared in the eight matches up and down the country, leaving many fans feeling short-changed when it came to the action on the pitch. Undoubtedly the match of the day was at the Coma Tudo Stadium where Acoflosa United came from two goals down to salvage a point in their game against Brampton, meaning both teams lost ground on the front runners but did keep them well in the hunt for a Globe Cup spot come the end of the season. The new league leaders came in the form of Hoventon & Corlington Town who beat a failry resurgent Orga City side in their own back yard. Kyle Ekryna, who is often viewed as the next Chillotov at the club, opened the scoring for the away side before new Apoxian signing Ora Espinosa got their first goal since joining the club, giving their side a two-goal advantage with a converted penalty mid-way through the second half. Since losing to Elspachia on the opening day, Langtree United have made the perfect response with three wins in three, lifting them to second. Their latest victory came in Carvi as Nepharan striker Julian Morton netted with less than twenty minutes to go in the game. Speaking of Elspachia, they picked up another point to remain undefeated in the league so far and remained third thanks to their superior goal difference compared to the chasing pack. They drew with Zoloroni City who have been uncharacteristically lax since going two after two matchdays, they sit seventh with a 2-1-1 record in the league. A fourth draw in four for Ogdenagorv keeps them safely in mid-table and does give them room to breathe, going four points clear of the relegation zone at this early stage. They drew with Zholvi, who finally got up and running in the league with their first point lifting them out of the bottom two spots. Rafelonia are now the only team in the league not to score this season as they lose yet again, this time to Dynamo Shebchetsik through a first half Babarushchik penalty. The Armed Forces and Zoloroni Met share a point each as they see out a 0-0 stalemate in Kirkenton, something which would please the Armed Forces fans a lot more that the Zoloroni Met, who are now in eleventh after four games. Finally, it was heartbreak for Project Olimpo as an 88th minute strike from Dimitri Lamorka snatched a first ever MPL point from the team, giving AFC Langtree a narrow 1-0 win which lifts them into eighth.

Another shake-up in the MPL table saw a new face take the reigns in the fight for the MPL title and the single Champion’s Cup spot, with the Mercedini Armed Forces surprising the Hoventon Community Stadium with a 1-0 away win for the men and women from the Army, Air Force and Navy, dropping H&CT four places to fifth, while MAF move up to eighth. Replacing them at the top in Langtree United, who win for the fourth straight match with an impressive 3-0 win against RFK Ogdenagorv which ends the Shebnatsiyan team’s run of four straight draws, with striker Kramini and midfielders Windrip and Santa-Corvani all scoring technical astute goals to please the home fans. Three teams are behind them in the race for top spot who are all on eleven points, with Elspachia, Acoflosa and Brampton all winning their respective matches to keep up the pace on the leader. Zoloroni City also made gains following their disappointing start to the season. Cenian Iain Cyn-Penzag made a return to scoring following his relative absence in recent weeks, he scored a brace to ensure his team came from behind to beat AFC Langtree 3-1 at the FLR Stadium. Rafelonia look to be in deep trouble as they fail to score in their fifth successive match, with the aforementioned Acoflosa United winning 1-0 in the Gavret Sports Arena, prompting some fans to express their discontent on social media. Finally, in the battle of the two promoted teams, Zholvi Athletic got the better of strugglers Project Olimpo to but clear daylight between themselves and the relegation zone. There are now three points between Sporting Rafelonia in 15th and Carvi Albion in 14th, giving the two teams in the danger zone an uphill battle if they want to stay in the league.

If you thought Mercedini were a developing league that can rival the likes of Cosumar, Nephara and Schottia; think again. The reality of the MPL being a mid-tier league hit home as Mercedinian champions Zoloroni City fell at the first proverbial hurdle by Prahecq's Marianne, prompting a discussion about the league place within the UICA. It marked a turning point about the development of the league with bosses in the MFA branding the league as the fastest developing in the multiverse, only to see that statement fall flat with the current MPL champions losing to a team most Mercedinians have never heard of, let alone seen in action. The tie was going well when Vanja Kuro opened the action for Zoloroni City, but the Cityzens couldn't hold on and had to settle for a one-all draw at the Sports City Stadium. In the second leg, fortunes changed as Marianna went into a quick 2-0 lead, crushing the hopes of the club. The referees whistle could have come soon enough for the distraught Zoloroni City fans, who had seen their team lose in the earliest round possible, meaning it was the Globe Cup or nothing for the club.

Hoventon & Corlington Town become one of the few teams in the UICA to remain unbeaten throughout the entire season, but that didn't stop them from being knocked out in their second preliminary round match against Navel FC of the Whirl Islands. Two matches that were tight rom the get-go, which both finished 1-1 on the night, and with no goals in extra time of the second leg, it meant penalties were iminant in the Hoventon Community Stadium. By this point, the stadium had emptied due to the late night weekday scheduling of the match. People had to get home for work and school, and they were thankful as the Navel FC goalkeeper became the hero of the day, saving three penalties to give his team a 3-1 penalty victory. Sending Hoventon back to the drawing board and giving them time to focus on the season ahead.

Two matches in the Series B Champions occurred with all the goings on in the other major tournaments, with mixed results for both teams involved. Project Olimpo, who cant seem to buy a win in the MPL so far, actually did against Banijan team Capitol City FC. Unfortunately that didn't stop them from losing the tie overall after a 2-0 defeat in Banija in the first leg. There does seem to be signs of the academy developing thanks to a respectable away leg combined with the achievement of winning at home. Whether the Project can take that confidence and apply it to their domestic chances of staying in the league.

Meanwhile, Kingfisher Invictus took another step to making the group stage of the Series B Champions Cup, by beating Tears of Rage which has been the second oddly named team that the Invicta has faced in as many rounds. This time it was as straight forward as the previous round but it took a lot longer for the tie to become comfortable. A 2-0 first leg win at home but them in commanding position, and the Invicta were practically assured of a place in the next round when Condogbia was pulled down in the box and Francis Mishelak duly converted from the spot, menaing Tears of Rage needed to score four times to make up the deficit. They only scored once and the travelling fans celebrated anther great chapter in their amazing story this season.

Langtree United held their place at the top of the table as they were surprisingly pushed all the way by Project Olimpo in a top versus bottom clash which saw five goals at the POSP. Project Olimpo took the lead before the quarter hour mark with a scrappy goal from a corner, before three unanswered goals from United looked to have put them out of sight in the match. But main striker Feliks Alva bagged a second for the youth academy with less than twenty minutes remaining, however it wasn’t enough as POM slipped to rock bottom while Langtree United continued to hold the top spot in the league. Two dark horses in the shape of Elspachia and Acoflosa United shadow them at the top, with both teams scoring late to keep up the pressure on the leader plus the chasing pack. Acoflosa scored with ten minutes remaining in their game against Zoloroni Met, Riley McGregor with the composed strike from the edge of the box giving them a crucial three points in their fight for a Globe Cup spot. Meanwhile, Elspachia scored later against the Mercedini Armed Forces to stun the Memorial Stadium into silence as a rash tackle from the Armed Forces defence bought down Felix Gallan, before he stepped up in the 93rd minute to score the winning goal in what turned out to be the last kick of the game. Zoloroni City, still reeling from a disappointing start to the season, took out their frustration on newly promoted Zholvi Athletic by hitting them for six which included an Iain Cyn-Penzag hattrick and five goals in the final thirty minutes, Oscar Bothwell originally equalised, however a second half barrage proved to much for Zholvi. Elsewhere, there were Carvi, AFC Langtree, Hoventon and Corlington Town, while Sporting Rafelonia got their first points on the board with a goalless draw at Brampton.

Are Langtree United heading for their first MPL title? They have given their chances the biggest boost to date with a spectacular 4-1 victory over Zoloroni City, establishing a five-point gap between themselves and the defending champions. Two goals from new signing Vorthik was intermingled between Dzudzev and Talla headed goals, with a Cyn-Penzag penalty the only rest-bite for the champions which have had a dismal start to the season by their standards. Acoflosa United continue their fine start to the season as they upset the young Hoventon & Corlington Town in their own stadium, with Llamaland striker Jake Wesley’s transfer fee already proving to be a bargain as his curled shot three minutes from time snatched all three points at the death and lifting them into second place. They move up and replace Elspachia in the silver medal position as they could only earn a point at home against Dynamo Shebchetsik, a Bartosz strike on the hour mark ultimately cancelling out a Calhoun chipped goal in the first half.

A number of surprises on the eighth match day of the Premier League with both promoted sides earning point on the day, with a number of other turnups which has blown the league wide open at the top and the bottom. Project Olimpo got an historic first point away at Carvi with Alva and Rodolfo leading the way for the academy who could’ve bagged all three points to lift them off the bottom, but Bonesea attacker Pontiff Annan found an equaliser with less than ten minutes on the clock to deny Project Olimpo a first victory in the nation’s top tier. It was also a good day for Zholvi who travelled away to the Armed Forces and came out with a 1-0 victory thanks to an early goal from Vertell which gives them daylight between themselves and the relegation zone. Another twist in the title race sees Acoflosa United take a surprise lead at the top of the table with many of the heavy hitters losing on the day and Acoflosa overcoming a strong Elspachia side to take the overall lead after Langtree United lost 3-1 away to Orga City which was ultimately crucial in giving Acoflosa the advantage when it came to the top of the table. Zoloroni City kept up the pace at top after they came from two goals down against a surprisingly dogged Ogdenagorv side with Cyn-Penzag and Nymark scoring in the final ten minutes to turn it around for the home side at the Sports City Stadium. Both Dynamo Shebchetsik and Hoventon & Corlington Town continue their climb up the table with respective wins. Hoventon came from behind to beat a rather stagnant Brampton United away from home, while Shebchetsik won at home in front of their own fans against AFC Langtree in a complete performance at the Razrabotka Stadion. After earning their first point in their last match against Carvi, it was back to square one for Project Olimpo as they were undone by a terrific individual performance by Iain Cyn-Penzag who bagged four in a 5-0 away win which kept the defending champions in touch with the top in a match day which went the way many were expecting. Langtree United retook the top spot following their trip up in the previous match, as a competent performance from the Loggers saw them overcome the Armed Forces by two goals to nil, putting them a point clear of their nearest rivals. That was all because Acoflosa couldn’t hang onto their point at the FLR Stadium as Dimitri Lamorka scored in the third and final minute of added time to give AFC Langtree a big win which lifts them safely into mid-table. At the bottom, things aren’t looking good for Sporting Rafelonia as they take another loss and sit in the relegation without a win and with only two points to their name, they remain five points adrift after other results somewhat went their way. Brampton ended their wishy-washy run of form as the comfortably beat a surprisingly lacklustre Elspachia side 2-0 at the Sevada Stadium, lifting Brampton up to seventh and dropping Elspachia into fifth. Orga City grab another victory in what is turning out to be a good start to the season of the Organ side, who record their fifth victory thus far with a close 2-1 victory over Ogdenagorv, with the north-western side once again giving a spirited performance before coming up short once more. Rounding out the action, Zoloroni Metropolitan run riot at Snowflake Stadium with Carvi Albion their latest victims. Metropilitan have been on an upward tick as of late and comfortably beat Carvi by four goals to one to keep them within touching distance of a Globe Cup spot. Finally, the bore of the day came in Zholvi as the newly promoted side recorded yet another point at they held Shebchetsik to a goaless draw at the ezMART Stadium.

After a disappointing run as of late for Carvi Albion, they have managed to pull off a tremendous performance in their own back yard as they beat defending champions Zoloroni City by three goals to one in a frantic match in Carvi. With the Cityzens chasing another title, their prospects have taken a dent with that loss, with Carvi moving closer to mid-table with those crucial three points on the board. Project Olimpo also made some steps to trying to establish themselves as a viable MPL club as they grab a second point of the campaign following a goalless draw against Orga, which could likely go down as the boring match of the day, if it weren’t for the teams involved. That put Project Olimpo on level points with Sporting Rafelonia, who had a point snatched away from them by Elspachia as Felix Gallan converted with three minutes remaining in regulation time. Zoloroni Metropolitan continued their march up the table with an important victory over Hoventon & Corlington Town which puts them within two points of a Globe Cup spot, something which the team haven’t had since they won the title. Acoflosa United retake the lead in the league following their 3-0 romp against Zholvi Athletic at the Coma Tudo Stadium, they go top due to Langtree United being held once again, this time by Dynamo Shebchetsik at the Razrabotka Stadion. Finally, Brampton kept up their run of form with a win over AFC Langtree, while RFK Ogdenagorv kept their points tally ticking over with a two-all draw as the Armed Forces
