Campionato Esportiva 18 - Ethane & San José Guayabal

Disclaimer: If you're not a member of Esportiva, refrain from posting here, failure to refrain will be subject of moderation duties.

Ethane has typically been a democratic, left-leaning liberal state. However, in recent elections, the rise of the right has been observed in the Christian Conservative Party and now the anti-establishment MoralEthane! party in the current controversial election. The previous government was led by the Union of Socialists in coalition with the anti-establishment left-wing GreenerEthane! party, which has heavily focused on improving the environment of the nation, returning it to its pristine natural state, making it a beautiful place to visit for tourists. The nation has a strong pacifistic tendency, even with a large military, and puts a lot of funds into public education. However, the future policies of the nation are up in the air at the moment, because of how tight the election is according to the polls.

The nation is well known for many things, including its multiple sporting appearances in the likes of the World Baseball Classic, and the World Cup, and its performances in the Worldvision Song Contest and the World Hit Festival. The nation is renowned for its technology sector, which drives forward innovation. The nation also has well funded and developed healthcare and public transport, making these apparent basic utilities easier for people to reach and use. The nation also has a relatively varied climate, with the Isle of Lowe providing a serene, natural beauty with a variety of mountains and lakes, while the countryside in the county of Tyrielie amongst others is widespread with farms and hills. The mountains in Whiltshire and other neighbouring counties, as well as those in Loweshire, have snow some of the year round, but in the summer months all are places for great hill and mountain walking. The city scene is also great in some places in Ethane, with the major 'nightlife' hubs considered to be in Swanmouth and New Sarum.

San José Guayabal is a nation known for its environmental policies and claims one of its region's happiest populations and also one of the most egalitarian societies in the region. Comprised by 18 provinces and two colonies Governed by Queen Margaret I, the country is a constitutional monarchy as its royal family plays a prominent role in Guayabalense society and is politically active. Boasting a high HDI rating and a dynamic and stable economy, San José Guayabal is an advanced nation which not long ago emerged from a period of civil war which ultimately led to the fall of a brutal communist regime but has quickly recovered thanks in part to the efficient work ethic of its people and now enjoys the combination of market economy and a Nordic welfare model with universal health care and a comprehensive social security system including a huge oil industry. With a beautiful environment, friendly population, and adequated infrastructure, San José Guayabal has a booming tourist industry that welcomes foreign travelers with open arms, also this nation has an state of the art infrastructure to host a World Cup or any international tournament.

This Campeonato Esportiva promises to be one of the most competitive ones ever, since Unified Sunrise Islands are hungry of more success after defending the World Cup title this cycle, Nephara wants a comeback and is decided to go for the title and recover their dominance in the footballing scene of the region, while one of the hosts, San José Guayabal intends to win a tournament that has been their black swan. Will be a surprise? Will some of those three win it? You're invited to Ethane and San José Guayabal to see it, hurry up! get your tickets and get the best seat available since showtime is coming soon.

Introduction

The Kingdom of San José Guayabal, or also known as Guayabal or simply called SJG is a culturally diverse nation, inhabited by at least thirty ethnic minority groups and five other major ethnic groups, forming a bond of brotherhood between each group, giving to the nation a strong reputation of unity and brotherhood even in the most difficult moments and being politically speaking a stable nation working into the frame of a Constitutional Monarchy. The ancestral heritage given by Spanish colonizers and a mixture of innovation and creativity have shown positive effects in this vibrant nation located in the southernmost corner of Esportiva. In this basic information guide is presented important information that will help the tourist (Regardless of nationality, sex, species, religion, etc.) to have a pleasant stay in San José Guayabal, with phrases and tips that will be much useful.

History

Originally, San José Guayabal was inhabited by a tribe from the South Pole, which has been called "Eskimos" and which our country still live to this day, beginning more than 2,600 years before Christ. Eskimos settled in small communities on the shores of the south coast of the nation, developing solitarily without contact with most members of other ethnic groups. The economy was based on hunting and selling bearskins for the winter season, or the planting and harvesting of grapes or apples during the spring time. The system of government was nonexistent and remained so for a long time, where the Eskimos were the majority before a new ethnic group in the center of the country, which was the group of "Wára-Wára" who ended up being called "Native Guayabalenses.”

Many centuries later, nothing changed regarding the ethnic background of the population, because the Eskimos maintained a social domain but now much stronger than ever through a central government called "Naalakkersueriaaseq" or simply "Naala", consisting of a governor who tended to meet the role of chief and spiritual guide of the nation. Note that they abandoned their nomadic practices and decided to establish around the "Great Lake" now called "Metropolitan Lake", about 230 km from what is now San Salvador, the capital.

We are going back to closest date to today, specifically in the 14th century BC, a new ethnic group came from the Northern regions which, specifically from Andarica, The Spaniards who colonized our country with the valorous mission of Explorer Luis Barbosa (Who’s considered as founder of the nation) and transformed it into an important cultural spot for Esportiva then. The discovery of new cities and new cultures was almost unstoppable, the isolated Eskimos decided to merge into a new society, full of opportunities for everybody. And that hasn’t stopped yet, because more groups came to stay in our nation, coming from the north the Finns, Swedes, Russians and Anglo-Saxons, creating a multicultural society in a big nation, who had a strong sense of unity and brotherhood since the early beginning despite the racial differences.

In the last 200 years, San José Guayabal has suffered drastic changes into his history and social system, being caused by political reasons, who led to three civil wars (1989, 2024, 2047) where the main factor was the wish of liberty and prosperity from a diverse but united nation with strong wishes of success in international issues as business, industries and more specially peace and freedom.

Today, San José Guayabal is a nation that is rising from the ruins by leaps and bounds after the most recent and devastating civil war that put a stop to the tyrannical communist regime of then President Miguel Serrano. In an industry dominated by petroleum and energy resources such as shale or subtraction of natural gas in conjunction with a strong and increasing momentum of the touristic industry and the micro technology based economy (Chips, micro-chips, etc.) are transforming the nation into what people have dreamed of, a country of advanced seeking for a better future and to overcome adversity in order to become more powerful and provide a better standard of life for its inhabitants.

Geography, Climate and another natural phenomena

San José Guayabal is a continental nation, located in the continent of Inferiore Minore, Esportiva. Having a great number of surrounding islands, an 85% of The Esportivan Antartic Territory, doing a great combination of climate and geographical features.

The continental area is very irregular, mountainous and a high number of volcanoes, being mountainous in the west, south-central, north-central and eastern containing long plains and steppes in the central area (also called "The Heart") of the nation, The Alpine Belt also called "Cordillera Del Fuego" runs from the border with Estope and Wednesday Evening in the far west to the border with Gregoryisgodistan in the east, forming a branch towards the south coast of the nation. The eruptions are less frequent in recent years, the last eruption was 12 years ago and the possibilities of a new eruption event occur is very minimal. This has generated an abundance of rocky material from the process of cooling of the lava, a very popular material used for gardens and decoration or houses.

Notable exceptions to the mountainous terrain of San José Guayabal are the Central Valley and the Northern Steppe. "El Valle" is a flat land that does not exceed 600 meters above sea level and extends over much of the Lempa River; the soil is very fertile for growing grain and other agricultural products such as corn, beans, and sugarcane, and also is home of the biggest hydroelectric dams in the entire region of Esportiva.

The North Steppe is the most arid area of the territory, dominated by its large sand dunes, this region has very little rainfall throughout the year and extreme weather in the summer, easily exceeding 42°C at noon and decreasing the 9°C at the night, fauna it’s minimal there except for scorpions and some lizards.

The climate of San Jose Guayabal is generally quite predictable because there are four distinct seasons being these winter (June 21 to September 20), spring (September 21 to December 20), summer (December 21 to March 20) and the autumn (March 21-June 20) while in Rossana (overseas colony) the condition is different because of its location in the northern hemisphere being the winter between December and March, spring between April and June, the summer between July and September while autumn is from October to December. It's very rare to see a non-corresponding to the station in our country climate, with stable climates for each season and very few flaws in the service of climate information in the news and newspapers because the monitoring systems of the climate and the almost obvious weather patterns.

Inwe talk about natural phenomena, we can find three, the most catastrophic ones are the earthquakes, a very common event in the nation due to its volcanic activity and its location between two major tectonic plates, the Southern Plate and the Inferiore Plate. This makes our nation quite prone to seismic events place but do not panic. The nation has high construction standards regarding the prevention of seismic events and is mandatory that each building has evacuation plans which are placed in visible to make easier the evacuation besides making evacuation drills at least two times for year. Note that at least 45% of citizens are people trained to provide first aid, this being part of the given requirements to complete the Students’ Social Service, required for the graduation of students in the education system.

We now turn to other less lethal phenomena, as are the aurora australis and the migration of geese, spectacular events that attracts lots of people. The aurora australis is a phenomenon that occurs mainly from March to September, while maintaining an appropriate intensity to be seen until the end of December, usually can be seen throughout the country, including northern areas like El Roblar or Metapán. The migrating of geese occurs during September to December, from the Central Valley region they move to the South Pole, then head to the north of Esportiva. These spectacles often see lots of people witnessing the wonders of nature.

Travel

Visiting San José Guayabal is not a very complicated process, as the provisions of international travel are applied for each foreign visitor. International flights usually land at three airports, one for each egion of the country, being the El Roblar International Airport designated to the west, Luis Barbosa Airport in Vladivostok for the central region and San Salvador International Airport to the east, the latter being the most important because of its location in the capital.

On transport and within San Jose Guayabal, we can find many alternatives among these is a rental car, join a tour group to use a minibus, taxi, public bus system, the private mass transportation, the underground (Available in cities over 500,000 inhabitants com) the bullets and domestic flights trains provide easy connectivity between one point and another in the nation, but can mention popular media, low cost and short runs as the tuc tuc and the colloquially called "coaster" (small minibus whose route is fast but to some extent uncomfortable due to the high volume of music and the sound of their mufflers). As mentioned, the transport between different parts of the nation is very easy, even people facilitate travel through the "ride" method, something often practiced by people who made a short trip and bear a considerable burden in order to avoid walk with overload.

Transportation is a very fast method SJG if done especially between cities separated by many kilometers because there is no speed limit on highways, although it is recommended to drive at no more than 140 kilometers per hour.

It’s important to say that you should drive defensively in the roads, especially in the interstate highways, due to the very aggressive driving style of Guayabalenses in general, drive always at your right side and carry an extinguisher, reposition tires, use always your seatbelt and be sure to have your National Driving Authorization or a Multiversal Driving License, failure to do this might cause you high fines with the police or even some time on jail, the fines should be paid at the local police department, in any bank or pharmacy under the “EasyPay” system which can be found in almost every town and village in the nation.

Culture & Society

Religion

San José Guayabal is a predominantly religious nation since ancient times but fairly liberal in their stances such as abortion (widely accepted), freedom of religion and another topics, presenting a wide variety of thoughts about divinity.

From the very beginning, on he epoch of the Eskimos, prevailed a kind of shamanism mixed with pagan rites in honor of the earth, moon and sun, entities of great importance to the Eskimos because of their dependence on agriculture and sun for planting and harvest of food and other goods for storage in the winter, which was worshiped by the moon and snow, who deserved rest and relaxation afforded to the Eskimos that time.

This Eskimo tradition of worshiping natural phenomena remained for more than 2500 years until the arrival of Spanish colonizers, who spread a new faith, Christianity in an easy way and without shedding innocent blood by religion. The Guayabalenses have been very receptive to the religion without falling into religious fundamentalism and fanaticism, this being a meeting point of unity and for society.

The Catholic branch of Christianity was the most professed in San José Guayabal to the arrival of the ethnic groups of Nordic origin like the Swedes and Finns who are predominantly Protestant, their influence on the people was so great that within two decades (1840- 1860) the percentage of Catholics dropped from 86% to 7%, and Protestantism dramatically increased to 89% of the population said to practice religion mainly based on the three pillars that characterizes San José Guayabal populace as a whole: Unity, Brotherhood and Passion.

Today the trend remains solid, the population is even more liberal than before in terms of tolerance creeds, admitting any theological thinking according to the Constitution of the Republic, severely condemning any act of censorship of religious expression or fundamentalism religious. Notably, church attendance has been increasing in the last seven years, bringing together a large part of the population; the missions of the churches typically perform community works across the nation or even international level people who need it most.

Language

Because being a multicultural nation, many languages are found in San Jose Guayabal, 31 to be precise, of which only five are relevant in their social use and only two are used by the government. At least a basic knowledge of Spanish language is more than useful in our nation but not essential, because 68% of the population has declared Spanish as their first language and 85% admit to have sufficient knowledge of the language. There are also four more languages in which the population has knowledge such as English (spoken by 70% of the population, 12% as their mother tongue), Swedish (spoken by 35% of the population, 4% as mother tongue), Russian (spoken by 26% of the population, 7% as their mother tongue) and Finnish (spoken by 17% of the population, 3% as their mother tongue).

The people of San Jose Guayabal are known regionally for the effort they made to learn new languages, speaking on average three to four languages at an appropriate level for communications with different people, according to them this is essential because knowledge is acquired different cultures and helps to get engaged with more people in The Multiverse.

Below, a table of English phrases translated into Spanish is presented, in order to have a broader contact with the population or in case of an emergency, which can be very helpful during your stay.

Food & Etiquette

Food in San Jose Guayabal is very diverse, varying due to the presence of different ethnic groups that have imported their culinary culture to our nation, varying by region, and yes, there are dishes that are distinguished from others if we talk about popularity nationwide.

Eating habits in SJG tends to be foods with moderate calories, being mainly meat and some salads that are normally an accompaniment to the main course, where people normally waits for all to start to eat at the same, then they start to eat all at the same time the main course, as tradition, a toast is made by anyone at the table. It is considered impolite to leave food residue on dishes in case you are invited to a house to eat or social activities, is always appropriate offer to wash the dishes and glasses where you ate, this being a gesture of good education and thanks to the host (not always the person that is offered is done, is considered as a simple act of appreciation.)

The typical dish par excellence of San José Guayabal are Pupusas, is a food made from mass shaped like circle, stuffed inside with fried beans, cheese, pork rind, squash, blackberry. This is often accompanied by vegetable tanning and ketchup.
Other main courses are: Tray (Composed of roast beef with barbecue, rice, salad, soup and fries), Quesadillas, Coastal Chops (Cutlet, bathed with barbecue and served with shrimp), Croquettes (breaded meat, accompanied with piece of dough and rice) and Spaghetti. Among the salads are: Paisa salad (lettuce, avocado, omelet, egg, chicken, bacon and corn chips) and the “Mil Cumbres” salad (lettuce, tortilla croutons, chicken, tomato, corn and ranch dressing).

Football Culture

Football in San José Guayabal is the sport that moves the masses, on any day and at any time of day is normal to see children playing football in the streets of residential areas or football academies, the youth guys in the communities playing football in tournaments, or at academies of professional or semi professional teams, adults meet after the workday with peers and then perform matches, as a distraction from work stress and also the elderly and women, who do not hesitate to leave their detention work in order to enjoy the football. Through this we can deduce that as people get involved in football in an active way, so is his passion.

The passion for football is very excessive in our nation, for some it is cultural issue of pride support their team and others, is literally his own "religion" if you want to call it like that, many fans in the stadiums are directed to support his team in an almost unique way, the hostility in the atmosphere and tension is very high, the songs of hate towards the opponent and vice versa are very frequent, flares, pyrotechnics, giant banners to support the team, drums, trumpets and other musical instruments give much color to the organized fans in time of watching the local teams or the National Team, popularly known as "Barras Bravas" are very common, but accidents between the fans are very rare.

Discuss and be contrary to any guayabalense about football topics in public is something that will not be very pleasant, especially if the National Team is playing. In such cases, groups are formed and the riots start against the supporters of another nation, then this gives origin to the riots. Something forbidden by the laws of behavior in stadiums, if the perpetrators are caught by police, be of any nationality, the price to pay is high, from fines of 1,000 Coronas (NS $ 2,000) up to three months in jail, or if fatalities occur.

It is recommended to refrain from displays of hate and mockery against the home crowd, in order to avoid problems of any kind during your stay, note that to enter in the stadiums, fans are not allowed to enter water bottles, umbrellas, sharps, flagpoles or pencils. You can enter flares, banners and musical instruments with previous notice to the police (if you are from an organized “ultra or Barra Brava”), it is important to mention that you can find different food at the stadium, from ice cream to banquets of gourmet food, any kind of drink is available from the typical and highly alcoholic “Chaparro” to typical beers or wines.

Welcome to Ethane

Ethane, also known by the chemical formula attributed to its name, is a democratic, politically divided nation located in the region of Esportiva, home to 20 million people. Having recently gone through a period of change, with the long-standing Liberal-Democratic Party, a centrist party committed to increasing defence spending and the economy to the detriment of the environment and social security, being voted out in favour of the left-wing Greener Ethane party, who are more committed to improving the environment and education. However, with the rise of the far-right, and a new election coming up, this position may be reversed.

The capital city of Ethane is New Sarum, which is home to about 2 million inhabitants, and is adjacent to the major tourist site of Old Sarum, also near to StoneHedge. There are many cities and towns scattered around the nation, spread out, with the largest city located about 250 miles from New Sarum, in Swanmouth, home to about 3 million people. The Isle of Lowe is home to about 400,000 people itself, and is regarded as 'the most beautiful part of Ethane' - most of the Island is wild, and has multiple small 'wild' islands alongside it.

Ethane is famous in many ways, notably for its sporting appearances, which has seen the nation start to become recognised in sporting fields around the world, as well as its performances at Worldvision and the World Hit Festival. The nation is also known for its high living standards, strong economy, specialising in Information Technology, in which it has one of the largest of the IT sectors in Esportiva, and Publishing, its educational standards, and its move towards green energy, which the government is aiming for a 100% renewables in the next 25 years. It is currently around 40% renewable energy. However, this may not continue after the election.

Transportation
The transport in Ethane benefits from high levels of government funding which benefit the quality of service, with private companies also consolidating the transport network in Ethane. Most of the large cities in Ethane have strong public transport links within them, heavily subsidised buses being the most commonly used way to get around. Also in the two main cities, New Sarum and Swanmouth, eco-friendly modes of transport are also available to be used, including bikes which can be hired and dropped off at later stages along your cycling route.

Bus services also cover most moderately sized towns, with rural areas and small towns and villages being covered by less regular bus services which operate out of a main town or city nearby. There are many long-distance routes also available in Ethane, between many of the major cities and towns, which often stop at rural locations to increase the coverage of the bus service.

Trains also provide a viable option for transport in Ethane, connecting many of the main cities and towns, and providing a cheap, fast, and environmentally friendly way to travel around Ethane. ChemRail provides a fast and reliable train journey between stations, but if you are looking for better quality, or high-speed trains then the best place to look is towards the private companies. The rails have all been electrified, providing an environmentally friendly way of transporting people around the nation.

For longer haul journeys from other nations, we do have a few airports across the country, albeit they are fairly small due to the regulations placed on plane emissions. HITAir provides a strong service to many major countries around the multiverse, with regular flights allowing fans to stream in for the championships. Most transport is state owned in Ethane, so the if the quality is not as expected, feel free to complain to the government.

Hotels
With the tourist industry booming once again, hotels are once again back in action, with a range of places for those visiting to stay. From 2* hotels to 5* hotels, we strive to provide you with the best accommodation possible. There is the option of either going state funded hotels, or you can go with the private sector.

Food and Drink
There are many places to eat in Ethane, with many restaurants and fast food chains all over Ethane. There are multiple places you can eat at, including the locally born restaurant and fast food chain, Treaters, who have signed a contract with Superchaps of Oisinistan to open a load of their franchises in Ethane, providing an even larger range of food to eat. With multiple food venues across the country, you are sure to find something to your liking.

Entertainment
There are many things you can do while in Ethane for entertainment away from the International Basketball Championships.

In New Sarum, we have multiple cinema and bowling complexes for the enjoyment of our visitors and residents alike, which are often relatively popular. There are many other entertainment complexes in New Sarum as well, which more can be found out about in the tourist information centre. Nearby to New Sarum, you have the historic castle fort of Old Sarum, which provides a good day out, as it is located in the centre of a large wildlife reserve, which is a place where you can often see rare animals lurking about. StoneHedge is also popular and nearby to New Sarum, providing a good family afternoon out, with activities for everyone, and special events running throughout the tournament.

Swanmouth also provides visitors with a great many visitor attractions to visit as well as entertainment complexes. The city itself is also only a 45 minute bus journey away from one of Ethane's finest national parks, the Glade Forest. This provides a good place for walks, as well as adventurous activities and bike hire, as well as being a good place for camping holidays. Further away from this event, you have the fairly mountainous regions of the nation, especially on the island, which provide spectacular views for those visiting, and can have snow on in the winter for skiing.

Notes: Soccer Captain Laredo Potato has retired from the national team. ... Youth IKDUCHALAD is the youngest player ever to be named to a Gregoryisgodistani senior squad, but as the third-string goalkeeper, it is unlikely he will ever play. Indeed, behind two young goalkeepers on the depth chart, he may never play.... Youth XILE42 has been selected to the new title of Xylocarp Smasher now that he is an adult. He smashes xylocarps/coconuts, especially the sapient ones ... Soldier 0EDCK13DHI is one of two members of Military FC not to be killed in the Great War, mainly because he was playing with the national team.... As part of an effort to have all citizens identify with Lord Almighty Gregory, the Gregoryisgodistani government eliminated birthdays except for Lord Almighty Gregory's, and all citizens saw their ages increase on June 1, the Gregoryisgodistani New Year. Lord Almighty Gregory's Birthday is June 17. All citizens must give him a present.

OOC: If you don't get the hacker reference, see this comic. If you still don't get it, entering that name as a database input in certain programming languages will delete all the rosters from the file. Feel free to RP this crashing your computers or something like that.

Uniforms (by Libertad Sportswear):

From left to right, our home kit, our away kit, and our third kit (in case of clash.)

Home games will be played at Lord Almighty Gregory National Stadium, the newly rebuilt national stadium in Capital District. It was rebuilt following the Wolfopian terrorist attack (OOC: a false flag by Gregoryisgodistan's government) and seats 175,617. It is a guaranteed sellout for every game since people will be forced to attend if it does not sell out.

These crimes are punishable by death in Gregoryisgodistan. While we are somewhat more lenient for foreigners, if you flagrantly violate them while in Gregoryisgodistan you will be punished severely. Probably fatally. So don't do it. As an example of what is flagrant and what isn't, farting quietly or privately will be overlooked if you are a foreigner, but holding a "Who can have the smelliest fart" contest in public will get all the farters executed.

RP Permissions: Basically, do whatever you want but expect reciprocation. If you card my players, I'll card yours. If you kill my players, I'll kill yours. Just don't kill Lord Almighty Gregory, our head of state and alleged deity. Also, if you are going to refer to my nation by a different name for IC reasons (like Gregoryisnotgodistan) please either TG me or leave an OOC note saying you are referring to Gregoryisgodistan. I frequently search for mentions of my nation, but if it's not mentioned by name, that doesn't help. So either mention it by name in an OOC note or TG me to give me a heads up. You don't need to wait for permission with the TG, but please send it so I can respond to the RP. Also, striking out the "isgod" part (as in Gregoryisgodistan) causes it to not show up on the search, so this will not fulfill the notification requirement. However, feel free to use that style as long as you either mention me by name without the strikethrough in the same post or TG me to let me know about the post. And don't flagrantly violate the laws of Gregoryisgodistan while in Gregoryisgodistan and expect to get away with it. Taunting us with chants of "coconut" or shirtless fans while we are playing away or at neutral sites is fine and encouraged, but if you try it in Gregoryisgodistan, those fans are probably going to die. Painfully. Which is fine by me if it’s OK with you. TG me if you have questions as to what is flagrant and what isn’t. Also, no completely unrealistic scoring events such as 80 meter goals.
Gregoryisgodistan, population 75,000,000. All citizens are required to worship Lord Almighty Gregory, our head of state, as a deity.

Racao presents the squad that achieved a third place finish (without a single ranking point!) in the 14th Campionato Esportiva.

RACAO ROSTER FOR CAMPIONATO ESPORTIVA XVIII>>>

GOALKEEPERS >>>
SAKOTO >>> GK (30) Sakoto is one of Racao's most experienced goalkeepers. Despite being one of the older players on Racao's team, Sakoto still possesses reflexes and wit. Sakoto, like many of the Racaoan players on this roster, grew up playing football on the streets of the slums outside Racao's major cities. Although the culture at the time encouraged goal-scorers more than goal-tenders, Sakoto quickly discovered a natural talent for goalkeeping. A scout for Soalara Strike noticed Sakoto's abilities and signed him on. He won the national championship twice with that club before moving on to Port Louis Lightning and, later, abroad to Burnton 1963.

Hassan HIRANA >>> GK (28) Although Hassan Hirana is an up-and-coming goalkeeper, he has taken second fiddle in the Racaoan team to the more experienced Sokoto. He definitely has good shot-blocking skills, and far and by large, he is an excellent goalkeeper.

Trojana RAKOHELY >>> GK (33) Trojana Rakohely is somewhat of an old geezer on the Racaoan side. Having just barely made the team, Rakohely's skills are growing old and he no longer possesses the quick reflexes he had in his youth.

DEFENDERS >>>
Andrian RAKOTONIRINA >>> RB (31) Andrian Rakotonirina brings some experience to the defensive side of the field. He has played for several Racaoan clubs and knows his way around several strategies. His guidance will help the younger defenders when they need it.

Justin RABELOMASINA >>> RB (25) Justin Rabelomasina might be the total opposite of Chris Rakotomaharo. While Rakotomaharo specializes in large kicks, Rabelomasina specializes in short, precise passes that work nearly every single time. He helps to maintain a defensive field around the goal which almost never allows shots through. Good dribbling and pickup abilities help Rabelomasina to keep the ball away from the goal. Rabelomasina also has good concentration and will use them to complement his passing and dribbling and his fellow defenders' good attributes.

Christopher RAKOTOMAHARO >>> CB (23) One of two teenage prodigies starting on Racao's national team, Chris Rakotomaharo is a speedy defender with a tight control on the ball. His kicking abilities are legendary on the Racaoan team and feature strongly in the defensive strategy of the team. His fellow defenders act like a funnel, sending the ball towards him so he can send the ball far away from the goal. If that doesn't work, he is more than adept at dribbling, and keeping with the opportunistic Racaoan team, he makes use of his many skills to keep the ball from penetrating the goal. His versatility and quick thinking make him an asset to any team that has him.

Ciriaque RASOA >>> CB (28) Ciriaque Rasoa is a competent defender. He lacks creativity, however, and sticks to by-the-book strategies, something that doesn't fare well for Racao's current strategy.

Masibo RALAVANOA>>> LB (29) Masibo Ralavanoa is a good all-around player - he has decent stamina, decent passes, decent blocks, and decent stealing. However, the team strategy did not call for a jack-of-all-trades, and Manendry fit the bill for a left back better than Ralavanoa did.

Félix MANENDRY >>> LB (27) Félix Manendry is a solid and consistent defender. Skilled at passing and retrieval, Manendry is willing to take risks. Although he is a left back, Manendry often deviates from his assigned position, and he is also capable of playing center back. He often takes control of the ball right after the opposing team penetrates the midfield, passing it back to his teammates before they send it wide into the midfield. His defensive style is on the border between creative and by-the-book. When an opportunity arises for either situation, Manendry is not hesitant to use his skills to pick up on that opportunity. Manendry is currently with a club in Electrum.

MIDFIELDERS >>>
MOSA >>> CM (30) CPT Mosa, Racao's most experienced midfielder, still has years left in him. Despite flagging stamina, Mosa knows how to connect with the ball. His main asset is his versatility. Whether on defense or on offense, Mosa knows the right tricks to get the ball where he wants it to go. He is a prolific scorer despite being in the midfield. Strikers Ipirina and Arivelo are often at the receiving end of his passes for a creative goal shot, and Mosa is adept at getting that perfect shot in line for them. His experience shows on the playing field. Mosa is described as eother a creative midfielder or a midfield general player, and he has the abilities to fit both profiles. Indeed, he does create many scoring opportunities for the trio of young strikers. At the other end of the stick, though, Mosa directs play in the midfield and scoops up the opponents' shots. He is a confidence booster for the younger members of the team. Mosa definitely deserves his captainship because of the wide range of abilities he possesses.

Nizar AMADA >>> LM (27) Nizar Amada just barey made the Racaoan team - he is not very accurate with passes, and he doesn't has good defense or stealing abilities. Despite these failings, overall he is a decent player, yet not decent enough for the starting squad.

Albert MANASOA >>> LM (26) Albert Manasoa is a good complement to Mena Rabalasoa on the other side of the field. Manasoa's best attribute is arguably his stealing ability. Opposing defenders will not be safe if they are in Mansoa's zone; he will find a way to send the ball to Mosa or the offensive end of the field, like teammate Rabalasoa. His stamina along the left flank also helps him to maintain a good defensive posture. Manasoa, when in his element, is virtually unstoppable.

Rado SALIM >>> CM (26) Rado Salim is on the midline between a somewhat good player and a good player. He just needs a little more development. Indeed, he is fairly competent on the defensive side of the midfield, but sometimes, he cracks under pressure. Maybe in a cycle or two he will be promoted to the starting squad.

Masibo ANDRIANAJAKA >>> CM (26) Masibo Andriananaka has the mixed blessing of sharing the center midfield with the venerable Mosa. However, his skills are up to the task. Known for his box-to-box style, Manasoa is as equally adept on the defense as he is on the offense. Extremely mobile and blessed with good stamina, Andrianajaka possesses the qualities he needs to shore up both the defensive and offensive ends of the midfield. Arguably, Andrianajaka is the best box-to-box player Racao has ever produced.

Tahiry MAHAZAKA >>> CM (29) Tahiry Mahazaka is one of Mosa's and Masibo Andrianajaka's colleagues. He is a bit older than Andrianajaka but his stamina is falling and he is not aggressive enough, or at least according to team management. He will probably be subbed in if the team needs to take a more defensive posture.

Mena RABALASOA >>> RM (29) Mena Rabalasoa is an excellent right-winger. He is a flank player who possessive great pickup abilities. These abilities, as well as his legendary speediness, serve him well near the pitch boundaries, where he can force the ball towards the center of the midfield, allowing his teammates the opportunity to set up a goal-scoring play. He has the experience and gut instinct which allows him to predict a good next move, which allows him to foresee opponents' moves and to be there before they know they will be there. All of these qualities make Rabalasoa an excellent defensive midfielder.

Vincent RAHARISON >>> RM (30) Vincent Raharison is one of the more experienced midfielders, along with Mosa. However, he never was a good as Mosa, and despite being a good midfielder, a slightly younger and faster Mena Rabalasoa took the spot.

STRIKERS >>>
Ryan ARIVELO >>> ST (23) An up-and-coming striker, Arivelo is one of the youngest starters (and, indeed, players overall) on the Racaoan national team. Currently, he plays for Cenial United of Ceni; he formerly played for Once Municipal of San Jose Guayabal. Arivelo is known for his speed, endurance, passing, and unorthodox tactics. Indeed, he often takes risks and is rewarded with creative shots that go into the goal. He is a team player and despite his individuality, he is more than willing to work with his other teammates to score goals, even if it is at the expense of his own pride. Arivelo is on track to be one of the best players Racao has ever seen.

Pascale RAVELONAJATO >>> ST (29) Pascale Ravelonajato is a conventional striker. He is at least competent and knows what he is doing. His shots can be off target, but for the most part they are not shabby.

Aristotle IPIRINA >>> ST (25) Aristotle Ipirina is in the class of Ryan Arivelo. The two players have many similarities: both are young, risk-taking strikers. What sets Ipirina apart, however, is his shot-making ability. His risks are not in shots but in his position. Ipirina has a great mental acuity and can compute the best angles for shots while on the field (as evidenced by his name). When he gets in position, the ball almost always scores points for the Racao side. Ipirina also has the endurance to make it through a long match and the confidence to back himself up.

Mark VELONIRINA >>> ST (29) Mark Velonirina is by most conventional standards, an excellent striker. He has accuracy and power. Indeed, he led his team in Saint-Denis to the championships. However, team management decided to adopt a more risky approach rather than the stolid play Velonirina is used to.

Arman RAKOTOARISOA >>> ST (28) A fairly competent striker, Rakotoarisoa excels in accurate shots. He is a little bit slower than his peers but he does a good job with what he has. This, unfortunately, was not enough to earn him a place on the starting squad.

Silvëre RAVALOMANANA >>> ST (25) Completing Racao's trio of young strikers is Silvëre Ravalomanana. Unlike his peers Ipirina and Arivelo, though, Ravalomanana's specialty is outwitting defenders. He is extremely flexible with the ball and his dribbling and faking skills are second to none. No defender can stop his movement. After he is through all defenders, Ravalomana will either attempt a straight-up shot or pass to teammates Ipirina or Arivelo. Considering his accuracy, Ravalomanana is often the top choice to take penalty kicks. Ravalomanana also performs well under pressure, as a good striker should.

COACHING STAFF >>>
SOJA >>> Manager (39) Soja is probably one of the most-known footballers in Racao, and he is definitely a household name. A former striker and captain, Soja led the Racao national team and the Soalara Strike team until he retired from playing a few years ago. He has since turned his attention to coaching. Soja prefers to have innovative strategies rather than more conventional ones. The 3-4-3 approach that the team currently takes is his trademark style. Soja emphasizes personal fitness as well as opportunism and creativity. He is an extreme confidence booster and the players are proud to have him leading their team. He is an extremely popular coach, and inspires the team to do well. Apart from making lineup choices, Soja is also responsible for financial issues, travel, and other arrangements.

Robert JOSOA >>> Head Assistant Coach (40) Robert Josoa, another former player (a midfielder) from Soalara Strike, is responsible for more of the day-to-day activities of the team. He leads practices and ensures that the players are trained adequately before the match. He helps Soja implement general team strategy and also oversees the assistant coaches that train the goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and strikers. Josoa is also respected by the players and generally offers good tips for their improvement. He is interested in the team's welfare and will go far to ensure that they will win.

Dr. Hery TOLOLAHY >>> Medical Director (43) Hery Tololahy oversees trainers and physicians that make up the Racaoan national team. The son of the first real sports doctor in Racao, Tololahy followed in his father's path, studying at the Port Louis University and gaining admission to a prestigious program in the Kytler Peninsulae. As part of his job as the medical director, Tololahy treats injuries and takes steps to help them team avoid injuries. He also helps the team to maintain their energy and stamina and regain lost body fluids. On the side, Tololahy also runs clinics in Racao for aspiring footballers and other athletes on the importance of medicine.

STRATEGY >>>
The Racaoan strategy for this tournament will be a versatile format that aims for effective coverage of the entire field to gain possession. Racao will adopt a slightly aggressive but balanced strategy that emphasizes control of the midfield. Starting with the 3-4-3 position, the Racao team will develop the offense by tactical use of midfield plays. If a team manages to get through the midfield, the defense and goalkeeper are more than able to handle them, although a midfielder may be shunted towards the defensive end of the field in case of this scenario. However, with a strong midfield, this scenario is unlikely, but the team will be able to deal with this occasion. At the offensive end of the field, shot-making and accuracy are emphasized. If the team is behind, similar to strategy for defense, the midfield is capable of going on the offense. When this occurs, the two center midfielders will fan out towards the opponents' penalty box. This flexible approach ensures that the team is not caught off guard by offensive maneuvers and that goals can be made with relative ease. After the team's disastrous campaign in World Cup 70, Soja decided to tone down his' side's propensity for offense and instead focus on man-to-man defending, more flexible midfield strategies, and less reliance on the strikers to lead the team to victory. Depending on the results of this CE campaign, Soja might decide to make some changes to the formation, including adding additional midfielders and removing strikers.

Home Stadium: The Farham Arena in Sabrefell. Capacity of 88,000, no attached club.
Kit Supplier: JMC
Nickname: The Cormorants

A slightly underwhelming World Cup, it has to be said. This wasn't helped by a very hard group draw, crashing out to the USI (defending champions, a title they would ultimately retain) in extra time in the second round. The side looked good, it just... lost a match, narrowly.

Shale needs this Campionato. He needs it even more considering Nephara is at war with Sameba on multiple fronts. The nation needs this. The squad is very strong. They should do this. They have to do this, right? But at least there's some encouragement - Elaine Ashdown was successfully talked out of international retirement.

Overall Record
280 wins - 57 draws - 84 losses
903 scored - 504 conceded

First Team and Tactics
Image
As always, the Cormorants play hard, physical and compact football on the defensive and quick, broad and ruthless on the attack, especially loving to absorb pressure and hit on the break. Set pieces are also something of a specialty, especially with Ashdown taking them. The fullbacks are expected to overlap with their wingers and provide much of the team's width, with Stavanger (/Scafidis) the big target man and Amokachi (/Cautcher/Cantor) the quick-footed finisher beside them.

Ashdown, now 34, will be very carefully managed. Konrad Gosforth will start matches against weaker sides.

Staff
Manager - Reinhard Shale - Age 56
Assistant Manager - Michael Brandon - Age 43

Reinhard Shale is an experienced manager who's been there and done it all. Making his name by bringing Maximum Rovers into the Premiership and establishing them as a punchy underdog, he won the league with AFC Treason before managing Buyan to their finest performances. He was ultimately sacked after a dip in performances, but not to be dissuaded, he became the first manager to win the Premiership with two different clubs by bringing Crisisbless to the title. A popular presence with the press, Shale is a motivator without compare and an underrated tactician with an eye for telling substitutions. Michael Brandon might well be his successor - a legendary figure for the Cormorants and Directus as a holding midfielder, Nephara's first ever player to be widely regarded as world-class, he's taken his incisive knowledge of the sport and razor-sharp intellect into coaching.

Goalkeepers
1 - GK - Justinian Hargrave (Image Starling) - Age 32 - 37 caps, 12 clean sheets
12 - GK - Apostolos Tsattalios (Image Phalanx AF) - Age 24 - 7 caps, 2 clean sheets
20 - GK - Gideon Fletcher (Image AFC Treason) - Age 28 - Uncapped

Justinian Hargrave remains the steady, stalwart presence between the posts. Not an especially modern goalkeeper, but a commanding leader and an excellent shot-stopper who rarely makes a mistake. Tsattalios, though, will take the sticks now - a progressive sweeper with great diagonal distribution. Some are sceptical due to some poor performances in the past, others due to his move to Ceni - but Ramsey is positive he has what it takes. Fletcher is, well, third-choice, and very unlikely to be played.

Defenders
2 - RB - Gareth Westmead (Image Violence Chariots) - Age 27 - 22 caps
3 - LB - Sieglinde Lohengrin (Image Crisisbless) - Age 23 - 10 caps
5 - CB - Calliope Katskalidis (Image AFC Treason) - Age 31 - 101 caps, 7 goals
6 - CB - Malachite Scharner (Image Jungle Strike) - Age 28 - 65 caps, 4 goals
13 - CB - Diedrich Frostmarris (Image Molsbik Arkjet) - Age 26 - 22 caps, 1 goal
19 - RB/LB - Scylla Vyntra (Image AFC Treason) - Age 29 - 76 caps, 4 goals
22 - CB - Dieter Konoval (Image KT Moreazerua) - Age 24 - 6 caps

Katskalidis and Scharner - who recently became the first Nepharim to play in Vilita - were the centre-halves that saw Nephara win a World Cup and they've only become stronger since, both individually and as a powerful partnership. The attacking fullbacks Vyntra (usually on the left) and Westmead add punch and width to the attack, but they always get their defensive yardwork done. Frostmarris and Konoval are both extremely promising centre-halves in their own right - the former even won caps for Apox shortly before the federation folded, the latter has been unflinching under pressure for Chatswood before winning a move to Moreazerua. Sieglinde Lohengrin has recently broken through for Crisisbless, and anyone capable of unseating Catheline Stockinger probably has a future with the Cormorants - tall, elegant and clever.

Midfielders
4 - HM - Tanith Rainsford (Image Mâ Âlâmëómë, vc) - Age 31 - 97 caps, 5 goals
7 - RM - Adnan Szalai (Image Ulsa) - Age 27 - 66 caps, 21 goals
8 - CM - Elaine Ashdown (Image Hastmead Diamante, c) - Age 34 - 145 caps, 46 goals
11 - LM - Lienke Vesper (Image AFC Treason) - Age 29 - 68 caps, 11 goals
13 - RM - Mariska Woodspur (Image AFC Treason) - Age 25 - 15 caps, 4 goals
14 - CM - Konrad Gosforth (Image Brinemouth) - Age 25 - 12 caps, 2 goals
16 - LM - Raquel Naeher (Image Cartagena Desert Foxes) - Age 24 - 2 caps
23 - HM - Helmut Chilmark (Image Duke of the North) - Age 24 - 10 caps

This is Elaine Ashdown's last cycle - for real this time. She's still a world-class midfielder, just her legs have slowed somewhat. She's partnered ably by Rainsford, as ever. Rainsford's never been quick, but she's an exemplary holding midfielder in all other aspects. That's the real worry in the end, the midfield is just slow. But it won a World Cup. Lienke Vesper is held in high regard by Shale both individually and for her synergy with club teammate Vyntra - something that the dynamic young Woodspur shares. But Raquel Naeher, a punchy, stocky underdog of a winger, has battled her way into the side and looks ready to continue a long tradition of Nepharim midfielders in Osarius. Adnan Szalai is by this stage in his and Ashdown's career arguably the best player on the team, with searing runs down the right, a mazy unpredictability with his runs and a street-footballer's way of going through people either to cross, pass or score himself. Helmut Chilmark proved a strong, muscular midfield deputy for Rainsford, while Konrad Gosforth has proven very effective in a 'relay' system, replacing Ashdown in the last half-hour to add pace and drive to the centre of the park.

One big, one small - that's the blueprint here. Scafidis is the big, a lanky tower of lean muscle with a keen intelligence for getting into the perfect position, and acts as an ideal foil for the wonderfully arrogant, classy Amokachi, a woman who can seemingly snap her fineers and score a goal. But Scafidis has been inconsistent in Nepharim colours, and the dynamic Dragan Stavanger has bolted into recent sides - a properly thunderous striker who smashes into people and creates havoc. Cautcher can match Amokachi at her best, but she's older, slower and has had an injury-cruelled history, only recently staying fit the past couple of seasons. Mostly. Cantor has slipped somewhat in the pecking order, but she has a laser-guided hammer of a left boot. All in all, the forwards are in rude health, and can be relied upon to finish what the midfield starts.

Mattijanan Roster and Information for Campionato Esportiva 18

The Story So Far

After a shocking qualifying campaign that saw Mattijana win just one match and fail to progress to the finals, Mattijanan football experienced a significant revamp with a turnover of both management and players. Matej Ljubanik, previously of FK Burges was appointed as the first full-time national coach following the dissapointment with a variety of staff joining him from The top Mattijanan teams. The change in staff has naturally brought a change of style with the high-energy attacking style dropped and a more skillful, but conservative approach taken in posession, a punchy counter-attack and more shape defensively preferred.
The change has bought results with a better run in last year's Campionata Esportiva in the regime's infancy and much fewer goals conceded than ever before. There is still work to do however, and this world cup cycle poses the first real test of a competitive and settled Mattijanan side. The objective for the team this year is to qualify for the finals.
The team did not qualify for the finals, but did improve on their performance at WC 75. They now sit 101st in the World and look to improve upon that in upcoming tournaments.

Recent Results:

Tomikosan 1-1 Mattijana
Jerusalem 1-0 Mattijana
Schottia 4-0 Mattijana
Mattijana 1–1 Revolutionary Nordskania
Mattijana 4-2 Ilyseum

Team Info

World Rank: 101
Style Modifier= -1
Team Colours: Green and yellow
Away kit: Navy and Black
National Association: MattijanaFusbalBand (MFB)

Head Coach: Matej Ljubanik
After a succesful, but not scintillating playing career, Ljubanik started his management career with mid-table division 2 side, Savaflug, who had recently lost Max Juremchuk to division 1 side Revinka. He lead the side to an unexpected 3rd in the table, just short of a promotion place, but acheived his goal of promotion the following year at which point there was speculation of him making a move to FK Petrovijanka or to Puljanka. Out of loyalty, he remained at Savaflug for a season, ensuring they retained their top flight status with a 14th/20th finish, before making the move to FK Petrovijanka.
After a slow start, Ljubanik began to make progress with his style of football and managed to lead his side to fifth in the championship with the promise of more progresss the following year. That duly arrived with an incredible start to the season giving way to a consistent run of points that ended with a comfortable championship victory.
Another decent run at the start of his third season with the club saw Petrovijanka sitting in second place in the championship behind FK Burges. At that point, the national side began to show interest and Ljubanik made the commitment that was wanted by everyone apart from the supporters of Petrovijanka.

Ljubanik has a calm style of football with passing play encouraged and a punchy counter attacking system. Defensively, he likes to see meticulous organisation and clear defensive shape, something that was somewhat lacking under the previous coaching team.

Assistant Manager: Dominik Samikov (FK Burges)

The assistant manager at Championship leaders FK Burges hails from the North-East of Mattijana and began his career at Dinamo Legisaw, another division 2 side before then moving as one of the tactical staff to FK Burges, where he has since worked his way up the pecking order to assistant manager. He has an excellant tactical mind as well as good player welfare skills and helps out Ljubanik in both management areas. He has so far proved himself to be a capable aid.

Head Scout: Marcel Kuzbacher

Marcel Kuzbacher is a seasoned scout, mainly plying his trade for the famed Puljanka Academy. He has links with numerous players in the Mattijanan squad as well as the under-21 side and makes up the 3-man selection panel alongside Samikov and Ljubanik.

Fitness Coordinator: Jelena Neumanič

Jelena Neumanič is responsible for the diet and fitness of the squad, freeing up the main management team to think about tactical matters. She has a solid repetoire of exercises and is well-known for getting on player's backs if they don't keep up with their expected effort levels.

Psychologist: Samira Kazmir

Samira Kazmir is an experienced sports psychologist who has done work for both the summer and winter Olympic teams, the Mattijanan ITT side and the MRT motor racing team. She is responsible for the mental welfare of players, stretching from the collective mindset to more personal issues for each individual in the squad and may have a tough task on her hands if this tournament turns out like the last.

The Medical Team:

Head Doctor: Dr Charlotte Smitič
Assistant Doctor: Dr Mattias Buranov
Physio: Martina Laramazič
Physio: Mika Glasnić

The Players:

GK-Matej Handanović-#1

The 27 year old Mattijanan number 1 plays under Matej Ljubanik at FK Petrovijanka and has been a solid, if unspectacular option between the sticks for most of his career. He has good handling skills and makes few mistakes, but could be replaced if he fails to make the spectacular stops expected of him.

LB-Helena Neumann-#2

The Burges Player is a regular in the championship leading side and will provide a good defensive option with the occasional run forward to help out the wingers. Barring any injuries or unlikely suspensions, she will play all of Mattijana's matches,

CB-Edvard Crajasović-#3

The towering centre back is a regular for a Revinka side currently sitting fifth in the division 1 tabke. His height gives him a significant advantage when defending ariel balls and presents a threat at ser-pieces. However, he can be clumsy when faced with skillful runners and does rely on a more quick-footed defensive partner in order to be successful.

CB-Katija Burnisevič-#4

Another Burges Player, Burnisevič is a potential answer to Crajasović's clumsiness and is a quick, skillful and sure-footed player capable of taking the fight to those attempting to run through. She is a dedicated player, happy to chase any lost cause until the ball crosses the line. Her lack of physical strength may be her weakness however and she could be a potential target for more powerful strikers.

RB-Dominik Illisević-#5

An up and coming full-back for Puljanka, Illisević is a punchy and pacey player with outstanding fitness and good crossing ability. His defensive technique is the biggest question mark, but if he can have a solid match at the back, he will undoubtably be a danger coming forward.

LM-Sophia Velezia-#6

A mazy winger with less raw pace, but the ability to turn any defender into a messy knot, Velezia is a constant challenge to keep quiet on her day and normally gets through at some point if she hits top form. Her mercurial nature is her biggest and arguably only weakness, but Mattijana will be well-placed if she can get it together.

CM-Marko Hojbjerg-#7

Another young midfielder at just 23, Hojbjerg is a playmaker with good awareness and passing ability and is the perfect fit for Ljubanik's technical brand of football. Useful for connecting the more attacking players ahead of him, he is also integral in providing the start or the killer pass in a counter-attack. When no forward options are available, he's not afraid to hit one and occasionally finds the back of the net from improbable ranges.

CM-Jago Adrianov-#8

Adrianov is the typical midfield enforcer with a hard tackle and a driving run on him which can terrorise both attackers and other midfielders. He's also not afraid to hit one from range with varying success. He is probably the most likely player to pick up cards however, so could be a potential liability.

RM-Jessika Struna-#9

A pacey winger who's preferred play is to make a run and then a cross, the 24 year old Struna is a dynamic and different part of the Mattijanan team. She normally plays for Revinka, but has been tipped for a move to Burges or Rapid Petrovijanka.

FW-Mathilde Lekarisa-#10

A fairly fresh face in the side, Rapid Petrovijanka's 25 year old forward is a lethal finisher with a left foot that makes up for a lack of power with high precision. She enjoys running onto through balls and cutting inside to curl shots into the far corners of the goal. She is expected to play well having scored 5 goals in her last 4 games for Rapid.

FW-Andreas Weiss-#11

The 27 year old Burges Striker has been a fixture in the Mattijanan team for a while now and has matched his performances for the national side with consistent scoring form for FK Burges. He is a poacher with the ability to be in the right place at the right time for any pull-back into the box. Also a good header of the ball, Weiss will be an intimidating target for high crosses if the Mattijanan plan-B is needed.

The Bench:

About Mattijana!

Mattijana is a huge safe nation with a significant, but proportionate population. It spans a fairly large range of climates with the far north a colder area, the central region temperate, the south Mediteranean and the South-East semi-desert. Petrovijanka, the setting for this competition, is located almost exactly in the centre of the country at 214-232 metres above sea level. It has summer highs of around 28°C and lows of -5°C in the winter. There is a high level of sunshine for most of the year with precipitation mostly snowfall in the winter months.

Culturally, Mattijana can also be divided into six regions. The West of the country is largely Germanic whilst the centre North is a mix of Slavic and Germanic cultures, centred around Mattijana's second city, Burges. The North and East are mainly Eastern European (closest to Polish irl) whilst the Centre (where Petrovijanka is situated) and the South are Slavic (similar to the Slovenian and Croatian cultures). There is an Arabic community in the South-East.
All Mattijanans speak the official language, Mattijanan. However, due to this not being spoken anywhere else in the World, English and German are well-spoken throughout the country whilst Arabic is taken on by the most intelligent students (in addition to English and German) as well as by those in the South-East.
There is no official religion in Mattijana due to this mix of cultures. Islam is popular in the South-East and parts of the South whilst some in the East follow the Mattijanan Orthodox church. Most people hold no religious belief, but believe in the universal philosophy of being kind, welcoming and helpful to others. Even in religious communities, it is these principals that are most talked of with religious figures used to preach them.
Due to the mix/match nature of Mattijanan cultures, religions are also a little mixed up. This is the reason that most muslim women do not wear headscarves.

Attitudes to drink and sex are fairly liberal whilst there is good gender, sexual and racial equality. Social mobility is also good and the rich earn only twice as much as the poorest.

The government follows mildly socialist policies meaning the tax rate is fairly high, but schools, hospitals and other public services are all well-funded and reasonably-priced. Taxes on large businesses are higher than on small ones. The government building is the MattiStaja, which is situated on Staja square in the centre of Petrovijanka. All six regions have their own smaller congresses however. Politicians are generally appreciated and although public decisions are limited to elections and important political decisions where the main population is the most affected, most citizens feel well represented due to the numerous meeting and discussion opportunities with their local politician.
All parties follow a similar philosophy, but mainly disagree on where to fund the most. The MattijanaLeušaBuro is the current elected party, but other popular parties are the ViroBuro (who generally promote the needs of the environment) and the NašinalBuro (who promote funding for employment opportunities). Despite this attitude, unemployment benefits are actually quite low in order to encourage people to be hard-working.

National Stadiums

Due to a large land mass and numerous good quality stadia, the Mattijanan FA prefers to rotate games around a few different grounds. Having said that, the Stadijo Nasinal and the Stadijo Dinamov play host to the bulk of the matches due to the central position of Burges and Petrovijanka, and their reputation for providing excellent hosting services.

Stadijo Dinamov
The Stadijo Dinamov in Petrovijanka is the second biggest football stadium in Mattijana and is one of the five stadiums that share the hosting honours for international matches. It is used on a weekly basis by FK Petrovijanka, Matej Ljubanik's old club, having built by them in 1940 and upgraded twice in 1972 and 2001. The capacity is 60,000.
The stadium is found on the East side of the PetroviOtok, near to the Stadijo Kolmetzov, one of Mattijana's international cricket grounds.

Stadijo Nasinal-Burges
Image

The Stadijo Nasinal is Mattijana's largest multi-purpose sports stadium with retractable grass and astroturf surfaces to cater for cater for Cricket, Hockey, Rugby and Football matches. There is a capacity of 90,000. The Stadium was built in 1985 and heavily upgraded just 2 years ago in preparation for the Cricket T20 World Cup. It is situated on the South bank of the Juliana river, just next to the water and just East of the NordesParke.

San José Guayabal (SJG) National Team

Image

The Guayabalense NT in the last cycle

Spiel: Qualifying as the first place in the group again and with a good position in the group were enough to feed the hopes to qualify to the Round of 16 in World Cup 73, and those hopes were confirmed after winning the group unbeaten with just one goal against in a group including Polar Islandstates, Farfadillis and Schottia, then the desired door to the Round of 16 was open and Kandorith was the rival, somehow La Selecta won the game and qualified for Quarter-finals and the illusions appeared among the fans, we were in front of the best national team in the history of San José Guayabal, they made more illusions after winning Cosumar with a lone goal and with that qualifying for Semifinals, expectations and illusions were high and people wanted the final but Eura was in front, the Eurans won all their previous games on that cycle with easiness and big amounts of goals on those games. With a smart sense of the game, La Selecta stood against the Eurans and kept them nil-nil in ninety minutes and then going to the penalty kicks after the Eurans tied the game with a late goal, in a mad penalty kick series, the Eurans won the game, 13-12 on penalties but that wasn't bad for the Guayabalense team, they already made history and they achieved more after winning the third place of the World Cup against Vilita with a 4-2 win.

After a CE that put every Guayabalense to dream with an extraordinary participation, reaching the final for the first time ever, with a splendid offense and an extraordinary defense performance, they were ready to face Nephara, but the dream of winning it came to an abrupt dead end, an horrorific 1-5 defeat finished the wonderful run into the tournament, despite that, people is happy by the fact of reaching a CE final for the first time. In WC 74, being hosted back in San José Guayabal, illusion arose at the highest levels, La Selecta didn't disappointed and performed well, beating strong rivals such as Farfadilis, Audioslavia in order to do the dream and achieve the first World Cup Final appearance for La Selecta, a fatidic penalty kick roulette kept the Guayabalenses away from achieving their biggest sporting glory ever.

In this World Cup 75, La Selecta had a new challenge, being at their best moment ever, but since the very beginning, the World Cup Group stage seemed to be a catastrophe, since a rather mediocre participation at that competition, with early defeats vs debutants Bonesea and historical Vilita, getting a bit of redemption against Electrum but not being enough to get past the Group Stage, now, coming to the Eagles Cup, La Selecta wants to come back to that level of football that they achieved back on the WC 73 and 74 period that took them to the highest positions that Guayabalense football has ever reached, now getting a win will be key for the team, as they are confident that they can recover the level.

After undesirable results in the World Cup 71 Qualifiers, La Selecta decided to start a reengineering in its game system, after proving that a good defense is not something from other planet, receiving fifteen goals in fourteen matches during the World Cup 71, a new slightly defensive system was established in the team, featuring for the first time a line of four midfielders, trying to block the highest number of possibilities of the rival team, also including a rookie into the team, Abraham Terrazas is having his first experience as the goalkeeper of the Starting XI, with one midfielder who can have a role of defense like Núñez, this team is probably a quite defensive version of La Selecta. A key aspect that changes a bit from the other lineups used throughout the history, is the use of two strikers instead, in order to keep the offensive capacity that has characterized the football of the National Team and maybe the bastion of the whole Guayabalense football.

The "home" roster of SJG features the use three defenders with some experience like James Moreira and Meyson Salume, both can act as key players if we talk about the realization of transitions to offensive plays meanwhile Passarelli is the team sweeper and also most experienced of the team in terms of playing in the international scene, specifically in UICA tournaments. In the midfield we can see a rhombus shaped position of four players, being Saucedo and Bregoo a kind of fake forwards due to the changing role of the tactical system that can feature five forwards in case of need and Núñez together with Valencia can be sort of defense in case of need. In resume this strategy helps in defense and attacking because it can turn into a 3-2-5 in attacking moments or a 5-2-3 in defending moments, creating a complete system that can help the team to achieve victory at any cost.

Game style: Over the time, the basic game style of the Guayabalense football has changed, but there is always a main characteristic that still remains untouched: Speed. Guayabalense players are usually technical and fast, they will not doubt to dribble to get past a defense and go forward with a fulminant counter attack, Sean Fraser is the most likely to do this. Fraser is well known for also being a 100 meters competitor and has been in two Olympic Games, his skills at dribbling are average if we compare with another Guayabalense players but his speed is in another dimension. Other characteristics that make Guayabalense football easy to recognize is the typically offensive vocation and discipline of the players: The team is a sole entity, everyone is responsible to participate in attack and everyone is responsible to defend, a tactic called “Fútbol Total” and developed by Paulo Oliveira.

Into more specific terms, the Guayabalense player is all-around, tends to be fast, disciplined and a bit rude while defending since there’s a simple philosophy that it is taught on young academies: “Either the ball or the player can go past the defense but not both” because this, it will be common to see Guayabalense players sweeping and defending in a style that it’s pretty much borderline between getting carded or not. Guayabalense players are “gentleman” sport-wise, they won’t doubt to apply fair play if needed or to stop playing in case a player from the opposition team is on the ground, they don’t dive but they try to provoke defenders to take them down and earn free kicks or penalties to give an opportunity to the “cannon” that Rodolfo Zelaya has in his right foot or try to surprise the rival. Though being “gentleman”, the Guayabalenses aren’t so calm while playing, the players tend to be really passionate on what they do and expect some moments when they will heat up and start arguing with whoever is in front of them. Another thing that Guayabalense players love, to surprise the rival with unexpected moves that usually end in goals and are decisive for the success of the national team in the last couple of years.

Playing on the sides is usual in Guayabalense football, either to go forward and give a cross to find Zelaya in the box or dribbling to get into the area and score a beautiful goal, one of the best things about the 3-1-3-3 implemented by Oliveira and Herrera is the fluidity of the game, allowing four players to defend when needed or even five players attacking when in need to score a goal, the Guayabalense team is pretty compact in this terms, they attack as unity and defend as unity, everyone has an specific role, starting with the main player on the scheme, the “destroyer” who is on charge to “destroy” any chance of the rival and recover the ball or controlling the rhythm of the game when needed, can attack or defend, basically it is the role with most fatigue, players on this role tend to be pretty resistant (physically-wise), fast and overly aggressive, to the point of being really temperamental. Basically, Guayabalense football seeks to force the rival to commit mistakes, high pressure, unity, discipline, speed, precision and a great aerial game.

The Managers

Paulo Oliveira 46 Y/O, Nationality: Valladar Image

Strict, offensive and organized are three words that describes the new manager of San José Guayabal National Team, former player of the onetime Globe Cup champions, Marinos Metrópolis (He coached on the final series) and them he served to Marinos and helped them to achieve the best positions on the Valladar Liga-1, going to Champions' League berths or Globe Cup berths, his seasons on charge of Marinos showed always a nice display of game, being direct, offensive and with high pressure to the rival defenders, a manager who tends to be strict but motivating to the players of the National Team, Oliveira is one of those managers with a high devotion to football and his environment, especially the ones like the Guayabalense football atmosphere, with a lot of pressure and expectations from the fans and the Football Federation itself. His arrival to La Selecta has already received good criticism, as being "one of the best decisions that the FGF could have made", considering the zestful and strict character of Oliveira, good results can be expected from a renovated National Team.

Alfredo Herrera 68 Y/O, Nationality: Aquillian (Part of Osarius) Image

We've all heard the anecdotes about Aquillian's national football team manager Alfredo Herrera, and how he is sometimes "endearingly zany". His open training sessions during some friendlies, or at tournaments like the Cup of Harmony or WCQ, reveal some -- but not the full extent of his preparations. He stands on the touchline, barking the same orders over and over until they are followed perfectly. "Retreat! Retreat now!" he barks at his wingbacks during one exercise. "You have less than seven seconds to return or they will pierce the gap!" His barking continues. "Release immediately! No hesitation! No delay! Control, release, move! Control, release, move!" His players are practicing to execute his commands with such speed and efficiency, they appear almost instinctive. The level is intense. He shuffles things around. Rotates players. Alters the tempo. Introduces more rules. Removes rules. The withdrawal, surveying and tinkering process repeats itself several times over before he appears satisfied. "Excellent! This is how we go! This is how we win!" He finally bestows some praise upon his players.

Starting XI Bio

Abraham Terrazas 23 Y/O, Goalkeeper of Izotz Zubia (AUD) Image

Maybe the youngest keeper on the history of the National Team, Terrazas was even more young when he left to the Audioslavian powerhouse Izotz Zubia, though his youngness was a limit to be on the starting XI, he took advantage of any chance he had to demonstrate his best level of game, through the time, Terrazas has been climbing to the top in his club, after some time. After a disaster caused by Henry Hernández on World Cup 71, Terrazas was chosen by Oliveira and Herrera to be the new GK, his age wasn’t a reason to intimidate him and the circumstances weren't a factor too, giving important reasons to pick him as the defensive bulwark of the team in key moments, especially in CoH 63 final when he saved a penalty kick to the legendary Vanorian striker Laborious Hawk and giving it the first WCC Sanctioned tournament victory to San José Guayabal, also, his participation in WC 72 and especially WC 73 has been a key to secure excellent performances for La Selecta.

James Moreira 25 Y/O, Left Back of Trothwands Evolution (OSR) Image

Young but experienced, Moreira is the typical player who can receive love or hate, his special location in the roster mades him a key player in terms related to defending, being the sweeper but also being one of the creators of the game, despite falling in nerves sometimes the youngest of their football dynasty family as the Moreiras are, his good leadership and attitude makes him being an excellent player in the team since early WC 66, as the time passes, Moreira has consolidated himself into one of those players who do above average performances, a passionated player who dedicates and performs always to the 100% is useful. His main characteristics are: phisical and aggressive player, pretty temperamental player, one of the players with whom the opponent must be careful while facing him.

Mattías Passarelli 33 Y/O, Centre Back of Avenida Leal (FFD) Image

The oldest of the defenders in the Starting XI and also the one with more experience in the team, Mattías played in the NT since they were an almost amateur-ish side, he played in Alianza FC and achieved three titles, enough to do his move to the Yttribian powerhouse of Delare Minon, when he got another three league tournaments including one solid run in the UICA Globe Cup made him a worship idol for the fans of the team. After several political problems in Yttribia and the relegation of Delare Minon, he decided to leave the club and Passarelli wasn't active for almost two and a half years, he just accumulated NT caps during that time but he always was the same defender, an active and agressive centre back, media and fans were pressing to stop calling him to the NT due to his lack of professional activity but an offer from the Farf side of Avenida Leal was enough to make him signing with them and keeping his position on the national team.

Meyson Salume 26 Y/O, Right Back of Revolutionaries (EUR) Image

The reliable Salume is back, after being injured for some matches, the strongest player of the teams is now in action to keep the order in the defense, his role is defend but he does the task of midfielder quite often, his strong point of being tall makes him an ideal player to keep the National Team without many troubles, but his slow speed can make some trouble over there, and can do more due to his motivation caused due to his arrival to Polarian lands, where he did a decent performance, consolidating himself into the most reliable player of the defense, but after leaving for some time due to The Big Polarian Freeze, he returned to San José Guayabal and got hired fastly by Atlético Nacional, despite the team did some bad performances in the last years, Salume has prevented that those already bad performances could have turned into a nightmare for the "Nationalist Squad" and then he turned into the captain that they have needed for a long time.

Rudy Valencia 30 Y/O, Defensive Midfielder (Destroyer) of St. John’s Arsenal (QUE) Image

The globetrotter of San José Guayabal, a player who did his labor in three nations like Mangolana, and Chiata and in Eura, now he's in Semarland to show his quality, Valencia's role is being the destroyer of any attempt of play creation in the midfield, his confidence is a strong point for him but his loose reaction when gets booked it's a trouble for SJG, specially to avoid red cards. Apart from that, Valencia is characterized for being a disciplined player in terms of accomplishing his mission in the midfield, sometimes he manages the tempo but the 65% of times destroys the opposition movements and plays, Valencia is almost always the one in charge to start the counterattacks since the very beginning of this national team, along with the other players he has improved a lot but his maturity at the time of doing his labor is incredible, a totally efficient player, difficult to beat in a head to head thanks to his physic and resistance, leading him to be an important part of the team.

Sebastián Núñez 26 Y/O, Central Midfielder of Revolutionaries (EUR) Image

Probably one of the youngest promises for Guayabalense football in the future, Núñez is one of the interesting players to follow in the team due to his special moves in the midfield, a player who wants to kick the ball from far as possible and put it inside of the opposite goal, Núñez is more offensive than the average midfielder in terms of moves across the pitch. Without doubts, Núñez is one of those players who are able to risk it all, no matter the cost but he wants to risk in order to do something new, creative and innovative, in resume he is the creative of the team, creates opportunities from unthinkable chances, definitively a mastermind into the team, also he is on charge of being the leader of the "orchestra" by leading the tempo and moving the ball to wherever might generate danger, also, Núñez is a fast player, so he might collaborate on defense and in counterattack when needed.

Leónidas Bregoo 26 Y/O Attacking Midfielder of OAS Royal FC (COS) Image

The Rulandese born but Guayabalense by nationality Leónidas Bregoo is actually the heart of the midfield with his team mate Rudy Valencia and Sebastián Núñez, Brego is essential in the midfield specially at the moment of being offensive or defensive due to his time-pacing function in the field, with good skills as headers, long crossed passes and long distance shots, considering his good height of 195 cms, is a good header in the area, in conclusion he's the heart of the team in the sense that he is a real motivator into the team, if La Selecta is losing, this is the motivating mind into the team, he considers that there is nothing impossible and there is no invincible team for him, so, Bregoo is a player that is difficult to see him overwhelmed by circumstances or another kind of situations, apart that he is the main passer of the team, a good amount of chances are generated from his passes, a key for Alianza FC success in the last couple of years and a Bastion for OAS Royal FC

Árbol "Tree" Saucedo 27 Y/O, Right Midfielder of Pradera FC (VLD) Image

The tallest of the team, say hi to the 202 cms high player of the Apoxian team of Wye United. Saucedo is without doubt the main weapon of the team in headers and also one of the main defenders when the rival keeps pushing, taking advantage of his size, Saucedo tends to run fast in counterattacks, with a speed worthy to compete with the best in the Games of the Olympiad is the main characteristic of Saucedo, acts sometimes as a winger when needed but his role is mostly being a box-to-box midfielder and keep pushing while attacking, Saucedo is as James Moreira in terms of behavior into the pitch, aggressive players with some temperamental problems while playing, but not as Moreira though, Saucedo can be a pain on the rival manager's head as his actions are quite unpredictable, especially while attacking, as he is ambidextrous he can shoot from wherever he can, so, he is a main threat for the rival.

Sean "Black Panther" Fraser 33 Y/O, Left Striker of Real Azuris (COS) Image

One of the top scorers of all the time in the National Team, the useful Sean Fraser is a deadly weapon in the strikers zone, counterattacks, being a damn fast player is what turns him into a dangerous player while attacking, if the defense kicks a ball, it's going to him for sure, as he has a superb control and technique with the ball, Fraser is dangerous for the rival and not only in La Selecta, also in Real Azuris, in the Cosumarite Harlighet Ligan where he unleashes what he likes to do, goals, goals and more goals, something noteworthy from Fraser is his ability to assist in goals, Fraser is extremely good at collective plays, he usually dribbles the defenders and then just serves the ball to the striker or another player near him to score, a pretty smart player that makes stats talking wonders about him.

Teitur Vaarisiemi 22 Y/O, Right Striker of Metropolis Alligators (VLD) Image

Dubbed by many pundits and fans as “wonder kid” Teitur is one of the quite surprising talents that you could find, taking in consideration his background, from being overweight while he was fifteen, with great scores at his school to be a potential world-class player only seven years after and keeping his Electrical Engineering studies at the same time in distance, Teitur has what it is needed to become some sort of replacement of Zelaya, he has the dribble, the speed and a pretty surprising ability to play, he’s sort of a brain while playing, he excels on being smart while playing, a player that does a lot for the team, has a great sense of collectiveness and a talent to score goals. In two years into the Valladar Liga 1, he has emerged by scoring at least 20 goals per season, and reached 28 in the last one and scoring five goals with La Selecta in four appearances. Emerging fast, noisy but with a low profile, Teitur has a bright future both professionally and sport wise and don’t be surprised to see him at the élite in a decade or way less.

Rodolfo "Fito" Zelaya: 31 Y/O Striker of 1830 Cathair (AUD)Image

Considered by much the best player in San José Guayabal and one of the best footballers currently playing in the multiverse, Zelaya is the leader and star of the NT, this iconic player has anything to demonstrate that he is the ultimate threat for the rival, a good player at aerial game, good shooting, fast and strong and smart, what more can be asked from him? In resume he is a complete player, a crack. Since child, he has promised a lot and he turned it into reality, won a good amount of titles with Alianza FC, being one of the top scorers in Guayabalense Liga Premier, winning three times in a row the Divisjon 1 with Northbrook Diamonds in Polar Islandstates, being one of the top scorers of the team and also winning one LigAnaia and one Champions' Cup with his current team 1830 Cathair, he has won a lot but he wants to win the World Cup with La Selecta before retiring of football as he said several times before, he had it close on WC 74 but he failed the key penalty, despite that, he was, he is and he will be the crackwho makes the difference.

Introduction

The Constitutional Monarchy of San José Guayabal, or also known as Guayabal or simply called SJG is a culturally diverse nation, inhabited by at least thirty ethnic minority groups and five other major ethnic groups, forming a bond of brotherhood between each group offering him to the nation a strong reputation of unity and brotherhood even in the most difficult moments. A former colonizers ancestral heritage and a mixture of innovation and creativity have shown positive effects in this vibrant nation located in the southernmost corner of Esportiva. In this guide basic data information that will help the tourist (Regardless of nationality, sex, species, religion, etc.) to have a pleasant stay in San José Guayabal, with phrases and tips that will be much useful.

History

Originally, San José Guayabal was inhabited by a tribe from the South Pole, which has been called "Eskimos" and which our country still live to this day, beginning more than 2,600 years before Christ. Eskimos settled in small communities on the shores of the south coast of the nation, developing solitarily without contact with most members of his ethnic group or the like.

Many centuries later, the picture did not change in ethnic background, because the Eskimos maintained a social domain but now much more informed through a central government called "Naalakkersueriaaseq" or simply "Naala", consisting of a governor who tended to meet the role of chief and spiritual guide of the nation. Note that abandoned their nomadic practices and decided to establish around the "Great Lake" now called "Metropolitan Lake", about 230 km from what is now San Salvador, the capital.

We going back to closest date to today, specifically in the 14th century BC, a new ethnic group came from the Northern regions which, specifically from Andarica, we mean the Spaniards who colonized our country with the valorous mission of Explorer Luis Barbosa (Who’s considered as founder of the nation) and transformed it into an important cultural spot for Esportiva then.

In an industry dominated by petroleum and energy resources such as shale or subtraction of natural gas in conjunction with a strong and increasingly thriving tourism industry and micro technology based economy (Chips, micro-chips, etc.) are transforming the nation into what people have dreamed of, a country of advanced its breakthrough in the future and seek to overcome adversity to become more powerful and provide a better standard of life for its inhabitants.

Geography, Climate and another natural phenomena

San José Guayabal is a continental nation, located in the continent of Inferiore Minore, Esportiva. Having a great number of surrounding islands, an 85% of The Antartic Territory, doing a great combination of climate geographical features.
The continental area is very irregular, mountainous and extremely volcanic relief, being mountainous in the west, south-central, north-central and eastern containing long plains and steppes in the central area (also called "The Heart") of the nation, The Alpine Belt also called "Cordillera Del Fuego" runs from the border with Estope and Wednesday Evening in the far west to the border with Gregoryisgodistan in the east, forming a branch towards the south coast of the nation. The eruptions are less frequent in recent years, the last eruption was 12 years ago and the possibilities of a new eruption event occur is very minimal. This has generated an abundance of rocky material from the process of cooling of the lava, a very popular material used for gardens, decoration or houses.

Notable exceptions to the mountainous terrain of San José Guayabal are the Central Valley and the Northern Steppe. El Valle is a flat land that does not exceed 600 meters above sea level and extends over much of the Lempa River; the soil is very fertile for growing grain and other agricultural products such as corn, beans, and sugarcane, and also is home of the biggest hydroelectric dams in the entire region of Esportiva.

It's very rare to see a non-corresponding to the station in our country climate, with stable climates for each season and very few flaws in the service of climate information in the news and newspapers because the control systems of the climate and the almost obvious weather patterns.

In terms of natural phenomena we can find three, the most catastrophic ones are the earthquakes, a very common event in the nation due to its volcanic activity and its location between two major tectonic plates, the Southern Plate and the Inferiore Plate.

The migrating of geese occur during September to December, from the Central Valley region they move to the South Pole, then head north of Esportiva. These spectacles often bring many people to be witnessed, because they have an enormous facility to witness each of these phenomena.

It’s important to say that you should drive defensively in the roads, especially in the interstate highways, due to the very aggressive driving style of Guayabalenses in general, drive always at your right side and carry an extinguisher, reposition tires and use always your seatbelt, failure to do this might cause you high fines with the police, the fines should be paid at the local police department, in any bank or pharmacy under the “EasyPay” system which can be found in almost every town in the nation.

Culture & Society

Religion

San José Guayabal is a predominantly religious nation since ancient times, presenting a wide variety of thoughts about divinity.

From the beginning of time to the Eskimos, prevailed a kind of shamanism mixed with pagan rites in honor of the earth, moon and sun, entities of great importance to the Eskimos because of their dependence on agriculture and sun for planting and harvest of food and other goods for storage in the winter, which was worshiped by the moon and snow, who deserved rest and relaxation afforded to the Eskimos that time.

The people of San Jose Guayabal are known regionally for the effort they made to learn new languages, speaking on average three to four languages at an appropriate level for communications with different people, according to them this is essential because knowledge is acquired different cultures and helps to relate to more people in The Multiverse.

Food & Etiquette

Food in San Jose Guayabal is very diverse, varying due to the presence of different ethnic groups that have imported your culinary culture to our nation, varying by region, but yes there are dishes that are distinguished from others if we talk about popularity nationwide.

Eating habits in SJG tends to be foods with moderate calories, being mainly meat and some salads that are normally accompaniment to the main course, where it normally waits for all those who eat at the same table finish their plate, then they start to eat all at the same time the main course, as tradition, a toast is made by anyone at the table. It is considered impolite to leave food residue on dishes and should you be invited to a house to eat or social activities, is always appropriate offer to wash the dishes and glasses where you ate, this being a gesture of good education and thanks to the host (not always the person that is offered is done, is considered as a simple act of appreciation.)

Football in San José Guayabal is the sport that moves the masses, on any day and at any time of day is normal to see children playing football in the streets of residential areas or football academies, the Community youth playing football in tournaments, or at academies of professional or semi professional teams, adults meet after the workday with peers and then perform matches, as distraction from work stress and also the elderly and women, who do not hesitate to leave their detention work in order to enjoy the football. Through this we can deduce that as people get involved in football in an active way, so is his passion.

The passion for football is very excessive in our nation, for some it is cultural issue of pride support their team and others, is literally his own "religion" if you are so want to call, many fans to stadiums are directed to support his team in an almost unique way, the hostility in the atmosphere and tension is very high, the songs of hate towards the opponent and vice versa are very frequent flares, pyrotechnics, giant banners to support the team, hypes, trumpets and other musical instruments give much color to the bars organized teams or selection, popularly known as "Barras Bravas" are very common, but accidents between the fans are very rare.

Discuss and be contrary to any guayabalense about football in public is something that will not be very pleasant, especially if the national team is playing. In such cases, groups are formed and the riots start against the supporters of another nation, then this gives origin to the riots. Something forbidden by the laws of behavior in stadiums, as if they are the perpetrators, be of any nationality, the price to pay is high, from fines of 1,000 crowns (NS $ 2,000) up to three months in jail, or if they occur fatalities.

It is recommended to refrain from displays of hatred and mockery against the home crowd, in order to avoid problems of any kind during your stay, note that stadiums are not allowed to enter water bottles, umbrellas, sharps, flagpoles or pencils. You can enter flares, banners and musical instruments with previous notice to the police (if you are from an organized “ultra”), it is important to mention that you can find different food at the stadium, from ice cream to banquets of gourmet food, any kind of drink is available from the typical and highly alcoholic “Chaparro” to typical beers or wines.

Spanish Long Version - For Formal Acts and/or Ceremonies

¡Despierta, Guayabalense, del sueño de la muerte
en el que te sumieron los tiranos!
Ahora o nunca, fórjate otro destino
ante el cual se inclinen tus enemigos.

Ahora o nunca

LLAMANEAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL ROSTER

After a strong qualifying campaign that saw them make the playoff round before being outclassed by Abanhfleft, the Tigers stormed to third place at the Cup of Harmony. The team has a lot of potential - especially in the attack - but neither attack or defense has managed to gain enough consistency to make the jump to the upper echelon. Things are looking up, but can Reichart continue to make progress with this team?

The Llamaneans have adopted an interesting hybrid formation this cycle, which fans, noting Felix Rasmussen's role in the setup, have dubbed the "4-2-4-1". The 4 and 2 are fairly straightforward. The back four is standard if somewhat more aggressive back line anchored by left-back Adrian Lindberg and Kurt Reichart while Emily Ynoa (or, if she is played, the CDM/CB Georgia Rodrigues) drifts forwards if needed and Michael Sorenson bombs down the right wing. Ethan Candelario and Nemanja Vesely forming a strong, no-nonsense midfield partnership that does whatever's asked of them. Free-kick wizard Eva Velasquez and her Cosumar-based partner Miro Vorobyov (or Jessica Chamberlain, a less aggressive option who is favored to start this Cup) play up on the wings, but can drop back (especially Velasquez and Chamberlain) to strengthen the midfield if necessary. Meanwhile, Felix Rasmussen's athleticism and versatility has allowed Reichart to deploy him in a hybrid role. In the "4-2-3-1" setup, Rasmussen serves as an attacking midfielder, driving the attack forwards but generally dropping back. In the "4-2-4" setup, his only role is to make dangerous runs into the boxes and generally cause mayhem.

In general, the Tigers love to attack and pressure their opponents - especially Felix Rasmussen, who made highlight reels earlier in the qualifiers by managing to block a goal-kick and nearly volley his own block into the net, and most of their goals are a result of prolonged attacks on the opponent's goal (with the exception of Penbrooke and the wingers, no-one on the team is a great finisher). The team doesn't prefer counter-attacks, but their setup is conducive for strong counter-punches. The weakness, of course, is their midfield - Candelario and Vesely are solid, but they're only two people, and Velasquez and Vorobyov tend not to want to hang around in the back. You need to have the ball to be attacking, and when the team is overwhelmed in midfield they tend to shut down - although Rasmussen has dropped back more to counteract that. The result, despite a decent defense, is a lot of goals when the team isn't playing well - see the 4-2 loss against Abanhfleft.

#01 - Lukas BERNHOLM - Kiiarana City (VIL) - 27
Bernholm isn’t the acrobatic shot-stopper that James Costa was, but he rarely makes mistakes, is strong aerially (not just because of his imposing height), and is known for being a strong locker-room presence who leaves everything on the field. Good enough with his feet and generally decent all-around, but not as prone to brilliant matches like Costa.
#12 - Markus SHEFFIELD - Chenoworth Harriers (NPH) - 26
Known for being able to stop a disproportionate amount of penalties, Sheffield is very athletic. Still extremely aggressive, but rounded out a bit in Chromatika over two seasons with Depri Sanar before being forced out of the nation.
#23 - Caroline McGUIRE - Jaunepont Herault - 32
McGuire couldn’t live up to immense expectations with New Llama Gold, but ex-national team manager Vaz noticed that her problems were more mental than physical (McGuire suffered several anxiety attacks) and recommended she leave the club. Sure enough, a move to the Sunrise Islands did the trick, and she’s now expected to contribute. Athletic, an excellent distributor, and capable of stopping most shots, but a mediocre communicator.

#02 - LB - Adrian LINDBERG - Real Azuris (COS) - 31
Lindberg, has matured into the team captain and one of its top players. His athleticism is remarkable, he's high in stamina, and he has a natural gift for positioning. Not only that, but he’s also polished himself well, and rarely makes mistakes. Someone that was named the nation's best college player consecutive years and who has grown into his potential, becoming the first Llamanean to win the Champion’s Cup last season with Real Azuris.
#13 - CB - Kurt REICHART - Francesca Orient (BRE) - 29
A six-three, hard-nosed center back who tends to rack up cards. After earning a reputation as New Llama's defensive anchor with his play and leadership, he made a move abroad to the A-League. Strong aerially, somewhat but not particularly athletic.
#03 - RCB/DM - Georgia RODRIGUES - unknown (TOPS HQ) - 20
A teammate of left-winger Eva Velasquez, the younger Rodrigues, whose grandparents immigrated to Super-Llamaland from Hicana and whose parents emigrated back to become missionaries and help with the relief effort after the First Miklandian War, ran away from a home that wouldn’t let her play football at age fourteen, and with no possessions except for her clothes, lied about her age in order to play for AC Bartolome. The right-back was a huge success, becoming known for strong play and her stamina on both ends of the field. Now, her stamina and positioning mean she can play both as a marauding right-back, a sweeper, or a defensive-midfielder.
#35 - CB - Chris MYERS-BRIGGS - AFC Ruby - 26
The younger brother (fifth of six children) of previously capped Sagan and Adonis, the more mundanely-named Chris is just as versatile as his two older brothers are, capable of playing any defensive position. A high-octane player who likes to spark attacks when on the wing, but who can also play a more defensive game as a center-back - still, even then, he can often make high-profile mistakes.
#36 - CB - Ephraim WAGNER - Los-Juantos Coastal - 29
An athletic defender who would be favored to start if Reichart tried a lineup with three at the back. Smart, ambidextrous, and known for strong positioning, but not one with the greatest on-the-ball skills.
#06 - CB - Emily YNOA - Brookford Otters (NPH) - 26
Very quick center-back who's willing to sacrifice her body to stop shots and make tackles. A smart player with strong positioning and a knack for anticipating passes. Also usable as a man-marker. Has done well for herself in the Sunrisian leagues, and has continued to mature as a leader in her few years there.
#26 - L/RB - Michael SORENSON - Eastweald (COS) - 31
Many a player is to said to have “came out of nowhere”, like past NT members Jack Saucedo and Stefan Bogusevic. Sorenson, however, truly came out of nowhere - Brookport Athletic reports that at sixteen, Sorenson went to a tryout, excelled, and signed onto the team without any previous record of experience - in fact, Sorenson wasn’t even Eirelian. Still, he’s a frighteningly good player considering his lack of a background - fast enough to play up the wings, strong enough to play a very good defense, and a mainstay on the back four for years to come.

#05 - DM - Ethan CANDELARIO - Goodfeather FC (NPH) - 29
A bruising, physical midfielder with decent but uninspiring passing touch isn’t the sort of player you’d expect to find on the Tigers. But previous editions of the team’s midfield seemed unable to provide anything in terms of defense (the Tigers’ best midfield pairing, Kyle Sturgeon and Jake Wiggins, were both playmakers who played defense sparingly, a model that recent teams have tried to emulate), and somebody like Candelario should be able to hold down the fort. Was given a spot in the starting lineup last cycle and has locked down control of it.
#08 - DM - Nemanja VESELY - Somer City and Surrounds (ETM) - 31
The towering yet agile Vesely was a basketball prospect until fourteen, when he picked up a second sport over frustration from not being picked for the highest-caliber youth basketball team in the nation. His attitude and past as a basketball player both show: quick-tempered and volatile, Vesely nevertheless has a ton of potential and the work ethic needed to reach it. Only a certain type of coach will work with the hot-blooded midfielder, and the wrong team could turn Vesely's untapped potential into a disaster. Athletic and dangerous on set pieces, with strong passing skills, but one who can be easily rattled.
#09 - C/RM - Reid ADRIAN - Tir Snake Strike (CEN) - 30
Questionably Llamanean but undoubtedly talented, Adrian decided to join his grandfather’s home country in order to have a shot at the World Cup. Adrian has a very good passing touch and is athletic enough to keep pace with opposing attackers, although he doesn't offer much in terms of shooting or defense. A right-midfielder by trade, Adrian has adapted to his new position well and done reasonably well with it - he can now play in center-midfield as well, and it may actually be his better position.
#17 - CM - Jason SANTANA - Rosaria (ESH) - 24
Santana has had his share of issues off the field. However, he seems to have recovered from a brief bout with drug addiction and his best days are still ahead of him. A somewhat quick, technically adept midfielder who's calling card is his stamina and strong positioning, who could get a shot at the National Team if he does well.
#11 - AM/RW/SS - Miroslav VOROBYOV - FC Samotath (COS) - 29
Born in New Llama City to immigrant parents, Miro Vorobyov moved back to Eyrelia at age nineteen, seeking out his roots while playing for the small club Zazrak Athletic. The skinny, teenager was a revelation for Zazrak, almost single-handedly carrying them to promotion into the Eyrelian Premier League. Despite having to adjust to the extremely physical EyPL in an unfamiliar position (due to the team’s signing of Hakifao star Herlek Jansen), he still performed very well and secured a transfer to defending champions Red Star, where he’s continued to develop into a complete attacking-midfielder. His quick, incisive presence, intelligence with the ball, and ability to break defenses with his runs makes him best on the flanks or as a WC74 Felix Rasmussen-esque free-floating CAM, although he’s still not the strongest player and his defensive weakness has made Jessica Chamberlain a viable alternative at right-wing.
#39 - RW - Jessica CHAMBERLAIN - Arrowhead Point (NGD) - 27
Called by many a “right-footed Lily Stanton”, Chamberlain does have some similarities to the Grasshoppers Turic left-winger, who recently retired from international play. Chamberlain, like Stanton, is extremely fast and relies heavily on kicking it past the opposing defender. Unlike Stanton, she’s matured a lot and is serviceable on both ends of the pitch.
#45 - LW/LM - Eva VELASQUEZ - Eastweald (COS) - 24
The promising if raw Velasquez is fast and agile. However, while one would expect Velasquez, who trained in AC Bartolome's academy for three years, to adopt a flashier playstyle, she's instead far more direct and focused - although she can use tricks to get out of a pinch, she'll rarely use them if she doesn't have to. A decent distributor who developed a fantastic free-kick at Myana before getting kicked out of the league - she’s landed on her feet, though, securing a starting spot at Eastweald, a popular destination for Llamanean footballers.

#10 - ST - Ansel PENBROOKE - Eastal Lunar (VIL) - 29
Considered the heir to Cartwright’s throne, Penbrooke has set milestone after milestone. Patistan offered him forty million dollars and he declined to head over to one of the best youth teams in the world. Penbrooke is very athletic, and maturation in Apox and Vilita has turned his good touch into a great one. Has become everything Tigers fans dreamed of, and a move to Eastal Lunar before strong campaigns in the Vilitan second tier and Turori has only furthered his growth. Expected to make another move next season - it’s anyone’s guess as to where he’ll go, but his performance in Vilita has proven that he can thrive in almost any league.
#29 - CAM/ST - Felix RASMUSSEN - Cenial United (CEN) - 30
Nearly left off the roster this cycle after a number of poor showings in training, Rasmussen's versatility in a more free-floating role, as well as the technique and speed to keep up, eventually made him a vital cog to this edition of the Tigers as he fought his way back into the starting lineup. Rasmussen also possesses a new maturity after spending four years playing abroad in Ceni - while he still prefers playing everywhere on the pitch, he can confine himself to a more confined position if necessary, and Reichart will appreciate the tactical flexibility Rasmussen brings to the table.
#21 - ST - Axel KORBORG - Whitehaven Triumph (CEN) - 21
Korborg proved a polarizing figure at Capitals despite scoring ten goals in twenty-one matches, and many were glad to see him leave for three million dollars to Ceni's Whitehaven, where had a strong season. While still a bit unpolished, the flashy striker looked very good last season in the SuperLleague, knocking in ten goals in nineteen appearances over league matches. Known for prolific finishing, especially backheels. Very athletic but a bit selfish on the pitch.
#17 - FW - Francis MANDELBROT - New Llama Stars - 31
Found by a New Llama scout lighting up the lower tiers of the Quebecois leagues, Francis Mandelbrot is poised to become one of the stars of the SuperLleague. Mandelbrot is fast and very flashy, often using a number of trick moves during matches. As a winger, he specializes in low, hard crosses - as a striker, he’s a clean and tidy finisher. Should surprise, especially considering that he's been the most prolific scorer in the entire SuperLleague.
#33 - ST - Sophia TREVELYAN - Klyde (COS) - 27
Trevelyan made history in 2014 by becoming the first Eastham-born (she has dual citizenship) woman to play in Eastham’s top tier, IslandLeague One, and since then she’s made the starting spot her own. A strong playmaker from everywhere on the pitch, quick and agile enough to set up her own chances, decent enough at finishing to score off said chances, but also versatile enough to play as a False Nine. Will back up Rasmussen on the roster, although she's not as versatile.

BRENECIA
Preferred Formation:
4-3-3
Style Modifier: +2
Home Stadium: Kingsgarden - a 58,000 all-seater in the capital of Rozelle.
Kit Supplier: JMC
Nickname: the Patriots

Jesus, what's happened to Brenecia? They're good now. And they've only had to make two changes - backup goalkeeper Urquhart and, yes, sadly everyone's favourite playmaker Catherine Purrington are, well, 35, and get replaced by young Hartigan and warm body Donachy. The fact that Donachy is next in line is really underlying how dangerously thin this side is. The Patriots consider themselves among the favourites to win yet another Campionato, and for good reason - everything just works out for them at the moment.

As usual, there is a quiet reliance on foreigners qualifying through parentage - Sparwasser was born and raised in Nephara, Uffington and Trevelyan in Apox. Combined with Buyanese migrants Skorupska and Szukala, this team has a fairly multicultural feeling about it.

Cullen's side plays lightning-quick, cavalier football, constantly attacking at pace. It's an exceptionally quick but not especially technical side, and maximising opportunities ensures that a few will land in the net.

Staff
Manager - Raven Cullen - Age 54
Asst. Manager - Fiona Sylver - Age 49

Okay, Cullen was a surprising appointment at first... but right now is looking like she might just be the best manager in Brenecian history. God only knows how it came to this. She's not done anything complicated - just gotten a side to play in the same style the side's played for ages while not imploding in the Brenecian tradition. Sylver has stayed on as assistant and looks to have a bright future in coaching, tipped by many to take over the job someday.

Goalkeepers
1 - GK - Mathis Woodgate (Image Creed United) - Age 28 - 77 caps, 23 clean sheets
12 - GK - Andreas Sparwasser (Image Crisisbless United) - Age 26 - Uncapped
20 - GK - Aidan Hartigan - (Image Rosbank Town) - Age 23 - 1 cap

By this stage, Woodgate is the unquestioned first-choice goalkeeper - one of the team's best performers most days, always there to bail out a sometimes shaky defence. He's a legitimately world-class shot-stopper, and a very capable goalkeeper in all regards. The alternatives are far, far less inspiring. Sparwasser is ethnically and culturally Nepharim and plays in the second tier, while Hartigan's got a bright future but is prone to errors. A-League goalkeepers tend to be on the experienced side, and it's causing concern.

Defenders
2 - RB - Czeslawa Szukala (Image Phalanx AF) - Age 25 - 38 caps, 2 goals
3 - LB - Ophelia Lovelock (Image Sabrefell Athletic) - Age 26 - 43 caps, 5 goals
5 - CB - Anaximander Scrivener (Image Brigham) - Age 30 - 63 caps, 4 goals
6 - CB/DM - Brandon Duguid (Image North Laithland) - Age 31 - 90 caps, 2 goals
18 - CB - Peter Uffington (Image Mliona-Lpaka) - Age 25 - 14 caps, 1 goal
19 - LB - Saoirse Hourihane (Image North Hall) - Age 25 - 10 caps
22 - R/CB - Rostyn Bradden (Image Lajuno) - Age 29 - 51 caps, 4 goals

Eura-based central defenders Bradden and Scrivener make for an extremely physical wall that's difficult to punch through. Uffington is a proven talent by now - if required he serves as auxiliary rightback. The measured Brandon Duguid is a classy operator who has been out of favour under Cullen but found a new lease of life as a more defensive holding midfield option, strangely one of the standouts at the World Cup. The team relies on dynamic attacking fullbacks Szukala and Lovelock for much of its attacking width - emerging talent Hourihane is not to be taken likely, either.

Midfielders
4 - DM - Catherine Gryphon (Image Northern Union, c) - Age 28 - 68 caps
8 - CM - Aleksandra Skorupska (Image Trothwands Evolution) - Age 26 - 40 caps, 13 goals
11 - CM - Sander Balliol (Image Tanrisal) - Age 25 - 8 caps, 3 goals
14 - CM - Shanna Donachy (Image Rozelle United) - Age 26 - 1 cap
16 - CM - Elsie Drover (Image Rozelle) - Age 24 - 29 caps, 7 goals
21 - DM - Matt Ruffan (Image Kingsgrove) - Age 24 - 8 caps

A very attacking midfield presents itself for selection, with many strong options for the side. The first-choice trio is comprised of Skorupska - a quick harrier with a great passing range and terrorising shot - Gryphon - a technically skilled and calm influence in the centre, recently voted the best defensive midfielder in the Multiverse by an independent agency operating from Bonesea - and Alexsandr van Sorenson Balliol, who understandably goes by Sander. Drover is a genuinely thrilling talent who burst onto the scene a couple of seasons ago but has been surprisingly edged out by Balliol - that said, she's still an excellent player. Straightforward defensive midfielder Matt Ruffan forced his way onto the plane after some assured performances in qualifying, and performed capably when called upon.

Forwards
7 - RW - Squire Trevelyan (Image FC Jansberg) - Age 27 - 64 caps, 25 goals
9 - ST - Ursula Rankin (Image Tanrisal) - Age 30 - 77 caps, 45 goals
10 - LW - Roisin Carroll (Image CSKA Quebec) - Age 27 - 70 caps, 14 goals
13 - LW - Sienna Fallon (Image North Hall) - Age 27 - 13 caps, 4 goals
15 - RW/ST - Karena Foran (Image Hellinic-Rouge) - Age 27 - 25 caps, 11 goals
17 - ST - Fionn Lynch (Image SC Rinaldi) - Age 26 - 14 caps, 6 goals
23 - RW - Ronan Bowditch (Image Real Azuris) - Age 30 - 28 caps, 8 goals

The best part of the squad with a fairly rich assortment to pick and choose from. A fairly well-entrenched set of starters in the physical, muscular Trevelyan - the most expensive Brenecian in history - the reliable, fiery Rankin and the technical, drifting Carroll can unlock most any defence. Fallon is a very orthodox option who puts a lot of effort into everything she does - similar story with Bowditch, who has been dominant in Cosumar and has worked his way up the pecking order. Karena Foran is an impact substitute par excellence, smashing down weary defences and with a dominant scoring rate in Brenecia and Pasarga. Fionn Lynch, however, is the current natural successor to Rankin - his time to shine has not yet come, but it will. For now, he's an entirely capable backup.

In the burnt-out husk of Vakhqul, central Iskandervale, as dusk started to fall, nine Nepharim huddled around a campfire. It was meant to be tropical here, but the weather seemed to have picked up on the atmosphere.
It should have been ten, really. But Baumann had caught a bayonet in the chest as the military had made its last push to eradicate what was left. It was on camera. You could blame Niko Brind for that. Some of the soldiers sure as hell did. He was a dedicated man, Brind, aiming to go down in history as one of the greatest war correspondents of his time.
Brind himself should've been a man called Sharon Evans, but instead Evans had become the first journalistic casualty of the Iskandrian Front. She didn't recognise the sound of a grenade bouncing quickly enough.
It left the surviving senior journalist, Ivana Schneider, as something of a brave, terrified remnant. She was of the Brinemouth Herald - well, now just the Herald after the paper had decided to go global - and unsurprisingly the horrific death of her colleague in front of her had not done much for morale. She liked to joke that she was here because she was single and childless. Of late, she'd started to stop thinking that was a joke.
They were all here because they'd volunteered, at one stage or another. Whitesmith, carrying a Euran bullpup that, unlike everyone else's weapon, had the advantage of not being exhausting to run around with, was their Corporal. He was from Treason by birth, Sabrefell by nature, and he'd joined in the recruitment drive after the war in Felix. Didn't think he'd have to see another one, if he was honest.
Lance-Corporal Laura Byrne, doubling as a designated marksman, was one of the squad's youngest at 22. She'd seen this coming. She had options at 18, but she claimed to have known her country would need her in a dream. So here she was.
Julia Ulreich, Jason Giannou, Gareth Fenwick, Simon Kearney and Bruce Taylor had their stories, too - presumably so did Coretta Grey, the guy who was meant to join them for the next fight. Apparently Grey's entire squad had been wiped out in a Sameban ambush - except her. She'd been found surrounded by three bodies, still firing her empty, clicking rifle at the corpses. This had been six days ago. This was what passed for combat-ready in these times, apparently.
So here they were, then, the damned men of the 4th Division, 2nd Brigade, 5th Heavy Infantry Battalion, Foxtrot Company.
There was a radio, too. Reporting of a happier time, in what was the daylight back home. In a way, it reminded them all of Stern Baumann, perhaps the one guy in Nephara who insisted he was a 'hockey man' and didn't have two shits to rub together about the Cormorants. But, again; dead. Anything could make you think about a dead man. Death was on the mind, broadly.

"Tsattalios! The fuckin' clown." Ulreich huffed. "If he starts, so help me-"
"He'll start," said Whitesmith, calm as ever.
"But he's shithouse! Even went to bloody Ceni in the off-season!"
"There's a world outside of Nephara. He saw a way to broaden his horizons, that's all. 'S what all the old guard did."
"Yeah, sure... 'broadening his horizons'," she said, making the money-grinding gesture with her fingers. That drew a few chuckles, even from the Corporal.
It wasn't as if they hadn't given as good as they'd taken - better, even. The Nepharim regulars were well-drilled, well-equipped and bloody-minded. Their equipment, or at least the stuff they'd been able to ship over (logistics had been a nightmare, but that wasn't any of their problem) was way better than the pig-metal jezzails passing for conscript gear. So it'd been kind of a massacre, at first, almost a letdown after a brutal naval game of cat and mouse to get them there in the first place.
They'd even taken a prisoner. Franco... um... Bridge. Wasn't a name you expected to see on a Sameban conscript, but apparently there were a few immigrants of Euran stock, and surprisingly enough there wasn't a whole lot of fight in them at this stage. 'Frank', as the soldiers had insisted on calling him, was a little too self-deprecating about the apparently nonexistent qualities of the Sameban soldier, perhaps too eager to please.
But then they'd had to take the cities.

The conscripts were one thing. There were a lot of them and they were frightened. But there'd been... a few ambushes, heading into Vakhqul, from better-equipped, better-coordinated troops, a genuine elite. A few reverses, from a Nepharim perspective. And pushing deeper and deeper into the city, facing more and more resistance, fighting getting closer and closer... well, that was when Evans had died, as the section guarding her hunkered down in a building during a Sameban counterattack. But there weren't many of them, at least. Still, it'd stiffened the spines of the rank-and-file, and there would be no retreat, there was simply nowhere further to be pushed back to...
And the political units. The damned politicals. Bastards who actually bought into the propaganda, had gone around massacring the civilians, forcing them in line, doing... whatever atrocities they had to for their perverse beliefs. It didn't matter who died, as long as their bellies were full. Well, they'd taken up arms for the most part, but they didn't look keen for it, didn't like facing up against the sort who'd fight back, always the first to surrender, always the first to run.
A few of 'em got cornered by Whitesmith's section. He'd lined them up against a wall, discreetly guided Schneider and Brind around the corner, told them to stop rolling. Then they all heard the gunshots. More than enough to do the job. About the right amount to do the job slowly.
'Thus always to tyrants', as the Army motto went. 'War crime' was just another couple of four letter words, by this point.
The important part was, after a lot of shit hitting the fan around the island, that they had liberated... well, this. A grey, shivering wreck of a large town that had once been the industrial heartland of a small, thriving island.

And, of course, there was still the capital left to take. That was where the last stand would begin in earnest. The Samebans were cornered, abandoned by their superiors, and had no realistic chance of victory. But they could damn well make it a pyrrhic one for Nephara.

A guy ran over, with the look of someone who'd been fresh-faced a few months ago. Before all this. "Hey, Evander wants our company ready to move out in, like, ten minutes. Recon's got contacts in a town a few clicks east of here. Looks... well, it looks like some straggler pollies."
"Right, then." Whitesmith got to his feet wearily, and stubbed a cigarette. "Let's go out there and teach Sammy a lesson."

Tumbran National Football Team
The Blue Lions

Image

The Campionato Esportiva XVII, the first held on Tumbran soil, saw a respectable round of sixteen placed finish, losing to eventual runner-ups Nephara. With the midly successful Eight Corners Tour behind them, will Robin Stoff be able to bring the Blue Lions forward instead of stagnating?

All-Time Record as of WC LXXVI

Jordan Fletcher: 12-8-17
Colin Guthries: 1-3-4
Robin Stoff: 5-14-11

Staff

Manager: Robin Stoff (58 y/o, TMB)

Robin Stoff is the manager of the Tumbran team - something which has proven to be more of a curse than a blessing. In his fourteen matches in charge, he has failed to win any, at most holding teams to a draw. He hopes that will change at this tournament, with Tumbra being in a relatively easy group. He has repeatedly stated that he is in for the long run - a sentiment that the TFA shares, despite them dismissing him from his job as the U-21 manager following Tumbra's successful third-placed finish in the Di Bradini Cup.

Assistant Manager: Mark Noble (47 y/o, TMB)

Noble was recently appointed to the job by Stoff - he will be taking care of tactics and ingame advice, as well as being the defensive coach. Previously manager of West Langham, Noble is more offensive-based than Stoff - however, he has adapted his tactics to Stoff's somewhat. Will they work well together? Or will their relationship crumble?

Goalkeeping Coach: Aiden Pearce (52 y/o, TMB)

Defensive Coach: Jon Seah (43 y/o, TMB)

Attacking Coach: Martin Lewis (58 y/o, TMB)

Fitness Coach: Samantha Lewington (39 y/o, TMB)

Scout: Harry Kew (64 y/o, TMB)

Physio: Coraline Lewis (33 y/o, TMB)

Players

Formation: 4-2-3-1

With several important players retiring, announcing their retirement from international football or football altogether, Robin Stoff has chosen to revamp the team fully. The result is a new-look team that has players from more top-tier teams, although there still are some from lower-tier ones.

1 Ryan Hughes (Thurmond City)

Age: 30
Height: 190 cm
Weight: 86 kg

Goalkeeper Hughes was, is and will be the custodian of the goal for this team. A magnificent ability to stop shots which are often considered unsaveable, Hughes is a threat to look out for. However, he cannot stop set-pieces for toffee, and generally looks to the defenders to help him in this task.

12 Raymond Perry (Goldlion Arsenal)

Age: 29
Height: 183 cm
Weight: 73 kg

Perry, the man with cat-like reflexes, finds himself once again in the team. He'll be treating this as possibly an extended vacation, unless something happens to Hughes. He is a middle-of-the-road keeper, and is generally considered to be around decent for a team of Tumbra's standing.

23 Steven Haines (Waterford City)

Age: 32
Height: 184 cm
Weight: 79 kg

Haines made it into the team with the retirement of Larry Peterson, who retired aged 34. Although unlikely to play any major role in this tournament, but he is always ready to spring into action when needed. More of a technical player than a showman, he has very good control of his area.

2 Louis Paterson (Chalk Wharf)

Positions: LB, CB
Age: 27
Height: 179 cm
Weight: 81 kg

3 Brandon Brooks (Fayborough United)

Positions: CB, CDM, CM
Age: 30
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 85 kg

Brandon Brooks is the definition of a safe pair of hands. His command of the area is bar none, and is often called the best defender in Tumbra. While not the fastest, Brooks does fit in with Stoff's new philosophy of stopping attackers in defence - and works it out to a tee.

4 Steve Nelson (Thurmond United)

Positions: CB, RB, CDM
Age: 28
Height: 172 cm
Weight: 69 kg

5 Cecil Reyes (Hoxford United)

Positions: RB, CB, SW
Age: 25
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 72 kg

Reyes is part of a new brand of football that Robin Stoff is trying to bring in - physically imposing defenders that can scare the living daylights out of opposing strikers. Standing at just below six feet, Reyes is extremely athletic and will chase after every single ball.

13 Lucas Jennings (Montego Bay Rangers)

Positions: CB, RB, CDM
Age: 31
Height: 178 cm
Weight: 74 kg

14 Alex Tucker (Metz FC)

Positions: LB, CB, RB
Age: 27
Height: 168 cm
Weight: 54 kg

Alex Tucker is the shortest and lightest member of the team, but that does not mean everything in the world of football. Tucker is fast, agile and jumps like a spring - managing to jump up to 200 cm - taller than most people are. This also means that he has been responsible for some fantastic last-ditch goal-line saves, using his incredible speed to catch up to forwards.

15 Roger Baker (Thurmond City)

Positions: CB, RB
Age: 28
Height: 182 cm
Weight: 71 kg

6 Henry Butler (Connaught FC)

Positions: CDM, CM, LM
Age: 27
Height: 171 cm
Weight: 63 kg

Butler quietly and efficiently established himself as the top CDM in Tumbra, with his recent showing at the Cup of Harmony speaking volumes about his quality. Extremely well-versed in the defensive arts of football, Butler will run rings around the opponent, showing them how stubborn the Tumbran defence can be at times.

7 John Rhys-Stevens (Merton FC)

Positions: CDM, CB
Age: 22
Height: 175 cm
Weight: 70 kg

Rhys-Stevens put in a quiet yet determined campaign during the Cup of Harmony and the Eagle's Cup, proving once again that the mature-beyond-his-age midfielder is ready for the full rigour of international football. His most unforgettable moment may have happened in Valanora, but that was what brought him into the spotlight for the first time...

8 Almar Hussein (Connaught FC)

Positions: LW, CM, CAM
Age: 19
Height: 170 cm
Weight: 56 kg

Another star from the Di Bradini Cup campaign, Hussein's young age raises the question of whether he is too young to take part in international football. Some say that he is an experiment to see whether Oliver Ganson can be rushed into service as the replacement for Henry Pandon, but we never know with Robin Stoff. An aerial master, his linkup plays are excellent and more often than not he will score headed goals out of nowhere. He will be relishing this chance to re-link with Stoff, the ex-U21 manager.

9 Robert Alexander (Thurmond United)

Age: 29
Positions: CAM, LM, RM
Height: 176 cm
Weight: 74 kg

Alexander rose to the occasion exceptionally well when Henry Pandon was taken off injured, being the star of the show in the Eagle's Cup, along with Henry Butler. He has that ability to see goalscoring opportunities where others do not - this leads to him being played as a raumdeuter, or space invader.

10 Albert Foster (Goldlion Arsenal)

Age: 27
Positions: RW, LW, CF
Height: 169 cm
Weight: 62 kg

Foster is fast, and he knows it. At twenty-six years of age, Foster relies on pure speed and skill to get past and befuddle his poor opponents, usually leaving them in the dust with his magnificent speed. He often sets up counterattacks on the wing, which makes him a prime target for defenders.

16 William Coleman (Thurmond United)

Age: 30
Positions: CDM, CM
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 79 kg

17 Arnold Lowe (Fayborough United)

Age: 27
Positions: RM, CM
Height: 172 cm
Weight: 71 kg

18 Ernest Sanders (Thurmond City)

Age: 33
Positions: CDM, CB, RM
Height: 182 cm
Weight: 82 kg

19 Justin Bielsen (Wildrspring Wanderers)

Age: 25
Positions: RM, LM
Height: 179 cm
Weight: 74 kg

20 Ervin Geeson (Sondon AFC)

Age: 31
Positions: CDM, CB
Height: 181 cm
Weight: 77 kg

11 Henry Pandon (Thurmond City) - Captain

Age: 32
Positions: ST, CF
Height: 178 cm
Weight: 77 kg

Henry has recently announced his retirement from international football following this Campionato - so it really is do or die for the Thurmond City captain.

21 John Krajewski (Humboldt Albion)

Age: 23
Positions: ST, LW, LM
Height: 181 cm
Weight: 81 kg

While Oliver Ganson may still be too young to play football on the international level, John Krajewski - born to a Tumbran mother and Quebecois father, he chose Tumbra at the age of seventeen, and has been playing for the Blue Lions ever since. Krajewski may be one born outside the traditional mold of possession-based gradual attacking football, however. Inheriting the characteristics of a Quebecois footballer, he is born to score goals and is loud and proud of it.

22 Peter Jones (West Langham)

Age: 25
Positions: ST, CAM
Height: 170 cm
Weight: 64 kg

Jones is the third striker in Tumbra's striking options - a stalwart choice if there ever was one. While there was a chance for him to ascend to the number 21 jersey, Jones chose to remain with 22, as it was, to him, the more iconic choice. The days of him scoring at will in the Di Bradini Cup are long gone, but Jones has since evolved into a quiet, efficient striker with a deadly right foot.

The Stadia

Wembley National Stadium, Goldlion City - 90,000

Image

The National Stadium is certainly the largest dedicated football stadium in Tumbra - and that is saying a lot. Located in the north of Goldlion City, traffic from there and the airport is usually atrocious, but the Tube does have a dedicated system servicing the station on matchdays. This stadium will host the games against the Royal Kingdom of Quebec and Flardania, with 10,000 seats being allocated to away fans.

City of Thurmond Stadium, Thurmond - 53,000

Image

Home to Thurmond City FC, this stadium, while not the largest stadium in Thurmond (New Trafford takes that title), is certainly the more modern one. Located just a hop, a skip and a jump away from the city centre, and five kilometres away from the airport (with a direct train service to boot). This stadium will host the games against Kirisaki and Tomikosan, with 7,500 seats being allocated to away fans.

Thefield Stadium, Connaught - 44,742

Image

Thefield Stadium (pronounced Theh-feld) is located in Connaught, fifty-six kilometres from Thurmond, and is home to Connaught FC - some of the league's most dedicated supporters. While not the newest stadium, Tumbra fans are known to show a great atmosphere while there. Easily reachable by train, plane or car. This stadium will host the games against Kalumba and the Hydraic Empire, with 5,000 seats being allocated to away fans.

About Tumbra

A map of Tumbra can be found here.

The Royal Federal Republic of Tumbra is a nation of over 67 million people is an extremely diverse nation, welcoming people from all around the world to its shores. Tumbra has often been called an "immigrant nation", simply because it has so many cultures and values that the traditional Tumbran identity has been moulded and kneaded to fit the new Tumbran demographic. That being said, however, 87.1% of the population is still white - but the proportion of nonwhite people is significantly higher in metropolitan areas.

A great Wikipedia article on the nation can be found here.

Tumbra: Weather

Tumbra has a temperate climate, with plentiful rainfall all year round. The temperature varies with the seasons seldom dropping below −11 °C (12 °F) or rising above 35 °C (95 °F). The prevailing wind is from the south-west and bears frequent spells of mild and wet weather from the Sarian Sea, although the eastern parts are mostly sheltered from this wind since the majority of the rain falls over the western regions the eastern parts are therefore the driest. Sarianese currents, warmed by the Paradystopian Cheese Desert, bring mild winters; especially in the west where winters are wet and even more so over high ground. Summers are warmest in the south-east of Tumbra, being closest to the Esportivan Federal Republic mainland, and coolest in the north. Heavy snowfall can occur in winter and early spring on high ground, and occasionally settles to great depth away from the hills.

Some packing advice that the Foreign Office has for travellers is to pack warm clothes. Always, always consult the Met Office, the Environment Agency or the Lackish Environment Protection Agency for additional information and advice on the weather.

If tourists decide to go on hikes, here are some precautions to take.

- never practice these activities alone;
- always hire an experienced guide from a reputable company;
- buy travel insurance that covers helicopter rescue and medical evacuation;
- ensure that your physical condition is good enough to meet the challenges of your activity;
- advise a family member or friend of your itinerary, including when you expect to be back to camp;
- know the symptoms of acute altitude sickness, which can be fatal;
- sign up with your embassy's location service; and,
- obtain detailed information on trekking routes or ski slopes before setting out and do not venture away from marked trails or slopes.

Tumbra: Religion

While previously an extremely devout nation, Tumbra has seen a gradually increasing number of people becoming non-religious ever following 1945. The two main religions present in the nation include Humanism and Protestantism, with 36% and 22% of the population identifying themselves as that. 21% of people identified as non-religious, while the remainder were made up of minor religions.

That being said, however, tourists should not attempt to incite violence against any creed or faith - such an incident will result in immediate deportation to the tourist's home country and a ban on entering the country for five years minimum.

Tumbra: Travel

Travelling to Tumbra is not very difficult. All one needs to do is to obtain a visa before setting off on one's trip to Tumbra, which will be approved 95% of the time - unless there is a very blatant security concern, after which the tourist will be detained and brought in for questioning. International flights land at many airports throughout Tumbra, though the main airport served is the Goldlion City International Airport, in the south-west of Goldlion.

Within Tumbra itself, however, it is more than recommended that tourists use public transport when commuting in Tumbra. Tumbra has an extensive rail network, and tourists are advised to use those instead, as the roads are excellent but are often narrow and congested, especially in urban areas.

Traffic drives on the left. Use caution when entering a traffic circle (roundabout). Pedestrians should use caution when crossing streets and be mindful that traffic is usually coming from the opposite direction than what they may be used to.

If using taxis, only use officially marked ones - however, carsharing applications like Uber are allowed in the country.

Tumbra: Language

The lingua franca and the national language is English - most Tumbrans often do not understand much else. The outlying Territories - Lackland, Sofan and Artumo - have their own dialects and languages which are recognised by the constituent countries, but not by the official Tumbran government, which uses English for all official purposes.

Tumbra: Food

Tumbran cuisine is the specific set of cooking traditions and practices associated with Tumbra. Tumbran cuisine has been described as "unfussy dishes made with quality local ingredients, matched with simple sauces to accentuate flavour, rather than disguise it." However, Tumbran cuisine has absorbed the cultural influence of those who have settled here, producing many hybrid dishes, such as chicken tikka masala - the national dish of Tumbra.

Tumbran cuisine has traditionally been limited in its international recognition to the full breakfast, fish and chips, and the Christmas dinner. Other Tumbran dishes include the Sunday roast, steak and kidney pie, shepherd's pie, and bangers and mash. Tumbran cuisine has many regional varieties within the broader categories of Nicodian, Lacklandian and Artumoan cuisine. Each has developed its own regional or local dishes, many of which are geographically indicated foods such as Cornish pasties, the Pilkshire pudding, Cumberland Sausage, Arbroath Smokie, and Artumo cakes.

Tumbra: Sports

Tumbra's national sport is football, though rugby union and cricket are often in with a shout. Tumbran supporters are usually very rowdy, sometimes crossing over into hooliganism - something which the authorities have absolutely zero tolerance for, local or otherwise.

It is recommended not to insult football supporters who are drunk, incapitated, or worse. Doing so may spark a riot, which has happened in the past.

The use of fire-related items (like flares) are strictly prohibited inside stadiums. If discovered, the offender will recieve a fine and have the offending item confiscated. Hooliganism is absolutely not tolerated and will be dealt with strictly.[/spoiler]

Postby Northern Sunrise Islands » Mon Dec 26, 2016 5:03 pm

Ryo Hibiki was on good spirits. The Hibiki family had spent Christmas, the family being somewhat of Christian Arceusists, at the newly settled Ayumi City over the islands, his greatest triumph. The Hibiki Zaibatsu was red hot over the other Tokyoto families, rocking an amazing profit margin over the others, though he couldn't eliminate them from the market, which while not on his plans, sounded glorious for some of the more ambitious members of the family. Still, he was on a good mood. A fantastic mood. Clearly, there was nothing that could knock him out of the top.
And then, he opened the large doors of his office, only to find a Gardevoir. Mulhouse.
"Happy Holidays, Hibiki." The USIFC president waved.
"The same to you, Mulhouse." Hibiki nodded. "So, what brings you here? Surely you'd rather be at home, enjoying with the family."
"I'm a Gardevoir, Hibiki. I don't have a family." The pokémon sighed. "Did you skip your Pokémon Sociology classes?"
"The schools I attended lacked those." He shrugged. "I'm from the islands near Lorelei, remember? They used to be archaic about it."
"Fair enough." The Gardevoir got up from the couch, walking past the trophies on that room. "I'm cutting to the chase. Northern Sunrise demands a competitive team."
"...Beg your pardon?"
The Gardevoir stared deeply at the human. "Your idea of bringing players from the background might be delightful in your own mind, but the fans and the media are tired of it. They want to be Nephara, for one."
The leader of the Hibiki Zaibatsu was slightly confused. "Didn't the Unified team do it already? Twice, even?"
"USI yes. Northern Sunrise no." The Gardevoir returned to its' cycle across the room. "And while I don't appreciate the expenditures over little regional squabbles, taking Esportiva's title sounds like a fantastic prize to add to the Sunrisian arsenal."
Hibiki thought for a bit. "My team isn't competitive, though?"
"You have some names, yes. But the main Sunrise Islands surely have more on their helm than a couple of forgotten names across the realms."
"...As in?"
"Kurosawa, LeLeverdusoleilian, the Beroan twins, Negolossauro Rex." Jean stopped. "I'm not saying you need to call all those four, but it's clear your team isn't competitive enough. I want you to send the best team the Sunrise Championship can muster."
"Am I free to call some of my former players?" He asked, faking a smile.
"Sure. But not all." The Gardevoir looked around. "I'm allowing ten. Not a single player more than that. And they need to be playing at top teams."
As the Gardevoir moved his way outside of the room, however, he looked at the Zaibatsu owner. "And stop faking it. I know you're displeased with the thought that your little cyborg plan has managed to break itself."

Hibiki sighed on his own chair.
He took a look over his old roster, sighing as he noticed that some of the names were still stuck at the background.
He wasn't able to count on Demi Low, who was sticking around at Brighton now that she had managed to get herself a new house there.
Mary Sue wasn't leaving Alice, Harley "Quinn" Smith managed to move from Flannery, but was now enjoying the peaceful life at the Party Rockers from Mink Island.
He continued to cut names. Hozushimara, Little, Kennedy, Maxarxel, Davenport...
He however had to smile as he clicked at two very recent articles.

The Gardevoir triumphantly left the Hibiki Zaibatsu offices.
People could hear the pokémon gleefully humming along.
In a way, he had twisted Hibiki into doing something he thought was the best for the Sunrisian Championship.
Teams had been depending on foreigners a lot.
Some of the names were justified: they hailed from powerful nations, justified as in they were actually quality and most of the time were overlooked.
But not only all of those weren't exactly the finest that was around to offer, but someone else had been overlooked as a result.
The Sunrisians.
And he knew just outlawing a massive amount of foreigners wouldn't help the situation.
Sunrisian clubs were powerful and certainly didn't appreciate a Pokémon meddling around with their stances.

So it was time to benefit those that played well.
Time to give a decent advantage to those who had stuck with the natives and were now using that to their advantage.
Luckily for him, someone already was doing that on their own.
Carnival Samba had just traded their Daineri flop Mishaella Tianno for Negolossauro Rex.
And Negolossauro was hungry.
But they needed more.
And hopefully, a good showing by the Machine would be enough to show that there was way more talent at their homeland than they thought.
A financial bonus to those that stuck with the natives would also be on the works.
And the best part?
He was going to use Hibiki's name to honor that bonus.
The charisma of Ryo Hibiki at Jean's hands.
Tails... Watch out, you're gonna crash, aaaaah!

CAMPIONATO ESPORTIVA 18

NEWMANISTAN ROSTER

Team Nickname: Rockets
Cultural: Natives of Newmanistan are referred to as Newmanistanians.
Uniforms: Sky blue and white. For Americans, think of what the University of North Carolina would probably wear color-wise, and that’s us.

Soccer History: While we did win a Baptism of Fire and a Di Bradini Cup back in the day, Newmanistan has historically been mediocre (at best) at soccer and in the World Cup, would tend to not qualify, though be close.

I Give My Opponent Permission To:
Choose My Goalscorers: Yes
Godmod Goalscoring Events: Yes
Injure Players: Yes, but only say they are hurt. I will determine the severity.
Godmod Injury Events: No
Red Card Players: Yes, on a basis of no more then one more then you do for your own team (Two ok if you won in a rout)
Yellow Card Players: Yes
Godmod Other Events: I’m open to it but don’t want to be caught off guard. TG your idea first.

Style Modifier: +2
Base Formation: 4-4-2

Manager: Tyler Brooker, 55 (Centralia Cougars)
Bio: The great-grandson of the legendary defender Jeremy Brooker who played for the Rockets in the early days, including the Baptism of Fire championship team will lead the new-look national team.

**** STARTING LINEUP ****

Goalkeeper:
Name, Age: Jeffrey Dorman (27)
Position: GK
Number: 1
Club Team: Tundra Falls Saints
Bio: The veteran has become the best keeper in Newmanistan in large part due to his amazing level of poise. He is cool, calm, and collected in pressure situations, including when facing penalty kicks. Statistically, an argument could be made that the Rockets could have given the starting nod to Moreno, who’s a little more flashy.

Defenders:
Name, Age: Michael Sherwin (32)
Position: LB
Number: 3
Club Team: Loudon Leopards
Bio: A highly intelligent defender who is a very reliable in his own end, but generally is not going to look to do much else for the team. He’s tall, so he can the header battles more often then not. A knock on him is that he may not be physical enough who has bouts of inconsistency.

Name, Age: Charley Flanagan (31)
Position: LCB
Number: 7
Club Team: Springfield Thoroughbreds
Bio: Played with Brooker for a few years before signing with the Thoroughbreds as a free agent this past off-season, making it a surprise that the coach did not hold a grudge and still named him here. Flanagan is silently effective. You won’t hear his name called all that much since he quietly goes about his business.

Name, Age: Brian White (26)
Position: RCB
Number: 4
Club Team: Pocono City Capitals
Bio: Responsible in his own end and is not afraid to challenge any attacker with aggression. He’s also not afraid to join the offense periodically.

Name, Age: Donavan Kelley (28)
Position: RB
Number: 5
Club Team: Centralia Cougars
Bio: While he is a tall defender, the best asset for Kelley is his overall speed. He would prefer to stay away from the physical stuff, and some coaches don’t care for that. Brooker is not one of them, though. Be mindful of Kelley on the wing on offense as well.

Midfielders:
Name, Age: Chris Merritt (25)
Position: LM
Number: 14
Club Team: Putnam Lake Eagles
Bio: Merritt is an aggressive and physical tackler. He’s out there to stop rushes on the wing, but that’s not where it ends, as his rough play leads to him brilliantly being able to set up the forwards.

Name, Age: Bradley Stiller (30)
Position: CDM
Number: 15
Club Team: Putnam Lake Eagles
Bio: Don’t fall in too much of a trap into thinking he is all about defense. It will be his first focus, but he has a powerful shot as well. He’s not as physical as Merritt, but doesn’t need to be.

Name, Age: Shawn Matthews (24)
Position: CAM
Number: 9
Club Team: Jessicaville Millionaires
Bio: Matthews is excellent in all aspects of the game. More often then not, you are going to think he is a third forward out there, but he is really so much more then that, and covers the entire field very well. There is not much he cannot do.

Name, Age: Vinnie Carney (25)
Position: RM
Number: 16
Club Team: Silver Lake Condors
Bio: A clone of Merritt’s. They play the exact same way and are thrilled to be teammates for this tournament.

Forwards:
Name, Age: James Kirwan (26)
Position: LS
Number: 10
Club Team: Olympia Gladiators
Bio: Won’t burn you with blazing speed, but always seems to be able to put himself in the right place at the right time. Not afraid of physical contact, and thrives on it.

Name, Age: Trevor Benson (25)
Position: RS
Number: 11
Club Team: Southport Tigers
Bio: Our next Jeremy McAllister. We hope.

***** SUBSTITUTES *****

Name, Age: Edwin Moreno (24)
Position: GK
Number: 21
Club Team: Brighton Bulls
Bio: Playing for the small market Bulls, Moreno certainly faces a lot of shot game by game, and he has rapidly been earning the respect of players, fans, and the media with each passing game.

Name, Age: Andrew McIntyre (23)
Position: CB
Number: 2
Club Team: Southport Tigers
Bio: Many were surprised when McIntyre was not given a starting spot, though coach Brooker says that McIntyre should be expected to play at least 30 minutes in every game. Andrew is an all around player that should only get better.

Name, Age: Thomas Lucas (35)
Position: CB
Number: 6
Club Team: South Charlotte Wildcats
Bio: The veteran has seen his best days, and a decade ago he would have definitely been starting. He is still able to maintain a high level of play, and coach Brooker is giving him the opportunity to say he was a part of the national team.

Name, Age: Scottie Matthews (23)
Position: MID
Number: 22
Club Team: Jessicaville Millionaires
Bio: He is Shawn’s little brother, he is also Shawn’s primary substitute. They will be swapped for each other when needed and can do the same general thing.

Name, Age: Jason Sexton (31)
Position: MID
Number: 19
Club Team: Tundra Falls Saints
Bio: If Brooker is looking to protect a lead and looking to spell either Merritt or Carney, the aggressive Sexton will be the chosen replacement.

Name, Age: Alex Kogel (28)
Position: ST
Number: 12
Club Team: North Charlotte Wildcats
Bio: Pure goalscorer has an amazing shot. If only he was not so streaky.

Name, Age: Anthony Cooper (37)
Position: ST
Number: 13
Club Team: Centralia Cougars
Bio: Coach Brooker wants to get his top goalscorer a chance to be able to say he played for the national team before he retires. He knows how to score and pick corners, so it’s not just sentimental. If he’s in as a late replacement, his age isn’t really going to matter.

***** RESERVES *****

Name, Age: Henry Kent (19)
Position: GK
Number: 31
Club Team: Rights owned by Daytopia Racers, playing for University of Southport.
Bio: Kent seems to be the keeper of the future, and as such coach Brooker wants him to experience the scene early.

Name, Age: Timmy Camerota (22)
Position: CB
Number: 26
Club Team: Hampton Bulldogs
Bio: A physical and tall defender that most say has a ton of upside.

Name, Age: Mark Covington (23)
Position: MID
Number: 29
Club Team: Concord Broncos
Bio: A physical midfielder who could see some time.

Name, Age: Randall Hayes (26)
Position: MID
Number: 25
Club Team: Pocono City Capitals
Bio: Good at everything, but not really “great” in any catgory.

Name, Age: Jesse Lindquist (24)
Position: ST
Number: 27
Club Team: Dover City Mountaineers
Bio: Can be used in the midfield as well, an all around player.

Name, Age: Dave Brewer (19)
Position: ST
Number: 33
Club Team: Dover City Mountaineers
Bio: A young phenom (who knows it), gets a chance to see what the national team is all about.

THE HERALD: 5-MINUTE ROUNDUP

The latest news in Tumbra and elsewhere, delivered in a short, handy email.

POLITICS - Anne Palmer set to challenge David Walker for SDP leadership

Image
Palmer is expected to challenge incumbent leader David Walker during the party conference, held in August

Current Shadow Secretary of State for Education Anne Palmer is lining up a bid to replace David Walker as leader of the Social Democratic Party, and thus lead the party into the next general election currently due in 2024.

Observers from within the party mentioned that Palmer was "dissastisfied" with David Walker's leadership of the party - the party have been out of government since 2012, and has failed twice to re-capture control of Parliament twice under the stewardship of David Walker.

While Walker did face a challenge from Evan Price (then First Minister of Artumo, now MP for Maheya Central) in 2019, the leader saw it off with relative ease.

Now, however, the result might not be so certain. Certain elements of the party have also expressed dissatisfaction at Walker's leadership, especially after the 2020 campaign which was widely seen as a missed opportunity for the SDP, given Michael Sheppard's relative unpopularity at the time.

In a recent survey conducted amongst Social Democratic Party members, 41% said they approved of Walker's leadership, while 32% disagreed.

INTERNATIONAL - Tensions rise in Zambanana - War?

Image
President Mbukane has made aggressive overtures to their southern neighbours ever since he took control in 1980.

President of Zambanana Joseph Mbukane has made another speech decrying the southern state of Zuidafrikanerstaats, claiming that they had been overriden by "white infidels" and that "God will send me to deliver a wave of judgement upon them, for these white men are unfit for the world and must be cleansed".

While this is not the first time Mbukane has made statements regarding Zuidafrikanerstaats, this comes after a series of border incidents which included a rocket being fired into Zuidafrikaner territory, and a patrol going more than five kilometres into Zuidafrikaner territory before being intercepted by a patrol.

Mbukane has been in charge of Zambanana since 1980, when it was renamed from Southern Hayfronsia (after legendary explorer George Hayfrons) after it attained a recognised independence from Tumbra. Before that, Hayfronsia had been led by a white government, with Douglas Strick at the helm.

Tensions have been rising for years now, but does it mean war? Political analyst David Kieson has written an article, which is accesible on the full tumbranherald.co.tb website.

SPORTS - Campionato Esportva XVIII

The eighteenth edition of the Campionato Esportiva begins in about a week in Ethane, where Tumbra has been sorted into Group E - which includes hosts Ethane, the Southern Sunrise Islands and Portlandistan.

As second seed, Tumbra will first face the Southern Sunrise Islands, then Ethane and Portlandistan.

However, the football has mostly been superseded by Tumbra's decision to merge leagues with Damukuni to form the Football League Championship Series (FLCS). Protests outside the national stadium have been met by riot police as official communiques were rejected and torn up in protests of saving their football.

FLCS Ambassador and National team captain Henry Pandon has urged the public to look forward to the FLCS, with it being able to help Tumbran football gain greater exposure outside of Tumbra itself.

The Royal Gadiryan Football Association (RGFA) presents
The Gadiryan National Football Team for the 68th Cup of Harmony

Fresh off their disappointing finish in Quebec in the Cup of Harmony The Royals are back. The latest edition of the Campionato Esportiva will give the Baptism of Fire champions another tournament to participate in and hopefully thrive in. Last time out Gadirya was eliminated in the group stage with defeats by Northern Sunrise Islands and Polkopia. The Gadiryans, now ranked 68th in the world, expect to make it to the knockout stages with a group consisting of hosts and powerhouse San Jose Guayabal, former Esportivan power Yttribia, and fellow Muslim nation Ummat Al-Haqiqa. While Gadirya will struggle against a frightening San Jose Guayabal they have a chance to pull victories against Ytrribia and Ummat Al-Haqiqa. This tournament is going to be either a breakthrough for Gadirya in the regional football scene or another disappointment. We will find out! For God and Country!

Goalkeepers-
GK #38 Islam Halabi (In-form Starter) {Age: 22} [Karimi Technica Ittihad] Image
GK #1 Aziz Karim (Consistent Backup) {Age: 31} [Al Ahly] Image
GK #30 Maximilien Jauffret (Solid Backup) {Age: 33} [CA Casablanca] Image

Surprise, surprise Islam Halabi of Karimi Technica Ittihad has been named as starting goalkeeper for Gadirya's campagin in the 18th Campionato Esportiva. He was included in the lineup during the Cup of Harmony as a reserve but Ali Tahan has decided to promote the 22 year old to starting goalkeeper as part of an experiment for this tournament. We will see if this gamble was worth it. Aziz Karim has been demoted, perhaps only temporarily and it is said he will still train as if he was a starter. He will be on stand by if Islam Halabi completely collapses. If. Maximilien Jauffret once a pretender to the goalkeeping throne is now a reserve keeper. Rumors are swirling that he will retire as goalkeeper for the national team seeing that his chances in getting a start are slim to none. This will lead to an opening in the goalkeeping corps and hopefully Ali Tahan will choose a younger goalkeeper to replace Jauffret.

Defenders-
RB #12 Lütfü Burakgazi (Solid Starter) {Age: 27} [Olympique Charmat] Image
CB #3 Hanbal Tuma (Starter) {Age: 30} [Al Taedin] Image
CB #4 [C] Gérard Calvet (Leader Among Men) {Age: 26} [Alissar Phoenix] Image
LB #6 Dominique Beaumanoir (Exciting Prospect) {Age: 20} [CA Casablanca] Image
CB #13 Abel Monet (Backup) {Age: 23} [Olympique Charmat] Image
CB #5 Kasto Rahal (Backup) {Age: 28} [Leidon Ittihad] Image
LB #2 Umair Ammar (Promising Backup) {Age: 23} [Leidon Ittihad] Image
RB/LB #16 Fabien Patenaude (Flexible Backup) {Age: 25} [Club Sportif] Image

Continuing on this trend of starting new players Ali Tahan has decided to promote young starlet Dominique Beaumanoir as starting left back. He replaces Umair Ammar who has been solid but was responsible for one goal in that two-nil defeat against Qasden. A notable update is that of Gérard Calvet's club. He is the first major Gadiryan player to be sold abroad and he is now playing for Osarian side Alissar Phoenix. It is a remarkable achievement for Gadiryan football and hopefully will lead to more Gadiryans moving abroad. Abel Monet has been called up from Olympique Charmat following their amazing run in the Globe Cup. Abel might replace Hanbal Tuma in some matches this tournament but we will see. Gadirya's tradition of strong defending is still alive and hopefully will be in use this tournament.

Midfielders-
CDM #8 Said El-Amin (Solid Starter) {Age: 33} [Leidon Ittihad] Image
RCM #24 Gaubert Royer (In-form Starter) {Age: 23} [Olympique Charmat] Image
LCM #17 Farouk Benita (Midfield General) {Age: 19} [Rosaria United] Image
CAM #10 Hikmet Kundakçı (Solid Starter) {Age: 29} [Altinspor] Image
CDM #32 Yves Comtoi (Backup) {Age: 25} [Al Taedin] Image
CM #22 Lut Emre (Promising Prospect) {Age: 20} [Muirford Athletic] Image
CAM #23 Simon Cartier (Impact Backup) {Age: 24} [CA Casablanca] Image

Seeing the apparent shortcomings during the Cup of Harmony at midfield Ali Tahan has decided to change up the lineup. Out goes Efe Moghadam and Hadi Kartal and in come Lut Emre who recently left relegation favorites Ekmekçispur for Muirford Atheltic and Gaubert Royer who both have been in form and hopefully will revitalize the Gadiryan midfield. Gaubert Royer has been said to be one of the keys in Olympique's run in the Globe Cup and Ali Tahan sees plenty of promise in him. Lut Emre was more of a surprise. He was in form in a mediocre Ekmekçispur side but following his transfer to Osarius he has gained a spotlight he has never gotten back at his old club. There is a strong chance he might be a starter in one of the three matches in the tournament. One last thing to note is that backup CAM Simon Cartier is getting closer to becoming starter as Hikmet Kundakçı while supplying assists has become lazy with his defending once he loses possession. This tournament is going to be Kundakçı last stand, if he can't perform brilliantly he will be replaced by his younger upstart.

Forwards-
RS #19 Ishaq El-Hashem (Gifted Starter) {Age: 22} [Olympique Charmat] Image
LS #11 Pierre-Louis Le Tonnelier (Rising Star) {Age: 18} [Pinnacle Project] Image
RS #18 Darwishi Tannous (Impact Backup) {Age: 25} [Leidon Ittihad] Image
RS #7 Mustafa Ganim (Creme-de-la-crap) {Age: 27} [Al Ahly] Image
LS #9 Selâhattin Teke (Promising Backup) {Age: 23} [Altinspor] Image

Gadiryan legend Michel Héroux has retired from national team duties and his replacement comes from the same club. Ishaq El-Hashem was deemed as the successor and fans are feeling confident that El-Hashem, mentored by Héroux himself, will continue this new tradition of Olympique Charmat strikers being successful for the national side. Pierre-Louis Le Tonnelier, perhpas Gadirya's most talented player, has taken Héroux's spot as left striker. This Campionato will be a test for the new striker duo, hopefully they can thrive.

Manager-
Ali Tahan {Age: 44} Image

Tahan is the first Gadiryan manager to graduate from the elite Felixian coaching schools and because of that the RGFA hired him to be the first manager of the Gadiryan NT. He abides by a more conservative team philosophy as he prefers to defend well than attack too much and have an exposed defense. But don't let that fool you, he loves to counter attack with pace and makes it a point for his attacking players to play on the line at all costs in order to have an attack that won't be cancelled out due to an offside call. Tahan's start as manager for Gadirya was rough at first with a rough, but expected, showing in the Campionato and after that told the press he would resign if Gadirya failed to make it out of the Group Stage of the Baptism of Fire. That ultimatum paid off bigly for the 42 year old as he coached his team to a Baptism of Fire victory. Since then he has managed to attract the attention of clubs worldwide that want to hire him for his services and after a solid debut in the WC qualifiers the spotlight on him has been brighter. Yet a recent group stage flop at the Cup of Harmony has dimmed that spotlight and if Ali Tahan wants a job abroad in some club he needs his team to perform in the Campionato.

Assistant Manager-
Süleyman Değirmenci {Age: 46} Image

He is the manager of the U-21 Gadiryan side and the assistant manager to Ali Tahan; his U-21 managing career got off to a good start with a Round of 16 finish and is billed to be the successor to Ali should he leave. Değirmenci has made a reputation for his calm yet solid leadership in the managing box and is great with younger players. Değirmenci has been joked to be the "Chief Whip" of the national team both gauging what the players desire and what the manager wants them to do. Değirmenci's actual footballing philosophy is unknown but it is said that it follows the current manager.

Assistant Manager-
Ishikawa Haruka {Age: 30} Image

Ishikawa Haruka was once the manager of the Felixian national team, the same one that made it to the World Cup finals and lost to Osarius. While her philosophy of football conflicts with Ali's and Süleyman's her attacking football insight should help with counterattacks as she can coach the midfielders and strikers in playing aggressive yet effective attacking football while still following Ali's doctrine of defend, defend, defend. While she herself has no ambitions in become the manager yet she is just excited to be back in the managers box helping coach a team. For a woman that was out of the job temporally this is a godsend.

Choose My Goalscorers: Yes
Godmod Goalscoring Events: Yes, but keep it real. Gadirya plays scrappy, defensive football so expect goals come from either set pieces or counterattacks after soaking up a lot of pressure from the oppenent.
Injure Players: Yes (just TG me details before you post)
Godmod Injury Events: Yes (see above)
Red Card Players: Yes (minimum 2 in a match)
Yellow Card Players: Yes (as long as you can explain how they got it as many as you want)
Godmod Other Events: I rather keep it real but if you wanna go wild, just TG me your idea

Gadirya loves to play quick, counterattacking football. If you are an attacking team Gadirya will soak up the pressure and so soon as your team makes a mistake or an attempt is blocked, the defenders will heave the ball to any open players and commit players forward. If you are a defending team Gadirya will play slow pragmatic football as they will take their time to break you down and are not in a hurry to do so, unless it is the last moments of the match and they are behind. Set pieces will be a source of goals for this Gadiryan team so expect them to try and force a corner instead of taking a chance to cross the ball into the box from the wings although the Baptism of Fire showed that Gadirya can play in the open as well.

National information.
Located within the Esportiva, Port Christopher is an unincorporated state of the Free Colony of Schottia. The nation is home to just over 1,000,000 people, the vast majority living in the City of Port Christopher. The small country is home to a diverse population of various ethnicities and backgrounds. Port Christopher has an extremely high population density especially around the coastal areas.

The colony was established as a trading post in 1879, when the then, Eastern Ossorían Empire, were looking for a way into the Esportivan market. The wealthy polyarchy of merchants swamped to Port Christopher in a bid to take advantage of this situation.

At the time the Ossorí government came under heavy criticism for their treatment of the native population. Many of whom it is believed had their homes destroyed and were either sold into slavery or died from disease and hunger as their fields were dug up for cash crops. General Lewis Home-Christopher, whom the colony is named after, is still a controversial figure in Schottia today for the methods he used in securing the area.

The Port Christopher merchants quickly became some of the richest in what were the beginnings of a Schottic maritime empire, taking over from where the previous administrations had left off. The new colony flourished along with the EOE at this time and was another hub to new enlightenment and developments in science, education, literature and philosophy. The City of Port Christopher became the Empire's second city and one of the richest Tyranan ports.

Squad information.
After a quite remarkable World Cup cycle, Port Christopher will be going into their second regional competition full of confidence. With a run of form, which saw them qualify for the finals, The Sea Lions picked up draws against Audioslavia, Valanora, and Abanhfleft as they proved themselves to be a very hard team to beat. The feat was made all the more remarkable given the fact that the side had been hit by a series of setbacks, including player walkouts, and issues with team registration.

Much of the team's success has been built on hard work and backs to the walls defending, but there are one of two stand out stars, who made a name for themselves in south Rushmore. 23-year-old Samaj midfielder, Rachel Del Arro, has been outstanding over the past twelve months in white and blue. The left winger turned number ten seemed to have an uncanny ability to come up with the goals at the right time, and her pace and trickery can cause problems. The main driving force in the midfield however, is Lexington Victory's Diego Bandos, who despite turning 33, is still a quality player. Alongside former Pirates teammate, Tim Maitfield, the pair would probably not look out of place in a far better side. Maitfield is currently in the form of his career, as his performances with Polaris would suggest. In the attack, Tony Uist has 28-goals in 52-caps for his country. His performances in the last World Cup were no doubt a big factor in winning him a move to Marque in the A-League.

In defence, Michael Campbell is called up for his first cap, after the retirement of stalwart, Robert Wessel. Campbell is a Schottian by birth, but has played on the island for the last six years. As part of Jim Reid's recruitment drive, in a bid to bolster the weakened playing squad, he has also brought in Thomas Sanchez, who has been putting in some good performances with New Belfast Blues in the Schottic second tier.

Best WorldVision Finish: 2nd. Best World Cup Finish: Quarter-Finals. Best KPB Rank: 8th. Best WBC Finish: 1st.
