OOC: As a user, I own a dozen of nations, all located in a region called North Eurasia. The following is a secret annual meeting called the Brandenburg meeting attended by the most powerfull North Eurasian people. They are nation leaders, bankers, businessmen ect. What is said in the meeting isn't known by those not attending. The list of attendants is also secret and never revealed to the public.

Nicolas Kardashian [formerly known as Nicolas Cyrus, founder and CEO of Golden Goal Sports Bar & Grill] : Gentlemen welcome to the Brandenburg annual meeting. Philip and me planned something really big for North Eurasia, some of you may not agree. So Philip you can explain it?

Baron Philip von Röthlisberger [Owner of the most reputed wine brands] : Hello gentlemen. Nicolas and me planned something really big. Take a seat because this is big. What if... all the countries in North Eurasia merged together to form a superstate?

Hank DiMaggio [CEO of Southern Cola] : whoah that's big!

Jimmy Dalglish [Caledonian bankster] : wow... speechless

Baron Philip von Röthlisberger : ... and the north eurasian superstate will be a socialist superstate. Nicolas already got the name. We'd call it Union of Socialist Alpine Republics. The name is already registered into the NationStates database, so we can use it.

Willie Ruth [CEO of Goodman Ruth, the most powerfull bank in North Eurasia] : A socialist state? No we can't let it go through!

Thierry Platini [CEO of Petrolum]: Bordel de merde

Prince Zygmunt VII, house of Blaszczykowski [Prince of Prusy Krolewskie and Co-Prince of Costiera Amalfitana] : I'm good with the socialist superstate, but the name... Union of Socialist Republics... does it means i'll have to abdicate and Prusy Krolewskie will a republic?

Baron Philip von Röthlisberger : well yes, you will have to abdicate.

George Parros [Southerner billionnaire, businessman, investor and political activist] : I can start an orange revolution in Prusy Krolewskie and you will have no choice to abdicate!

Nicolas Kardashian : Sounds like a plan!

Prince Zygmunt VII, house of Blaszczykowski : I don't agree with it. my family, the Blaszczykowskis, are ruling Prusy Krolewskie since 1796.

Zvonimir Modric [CEO of Zvijezda, a food company in Hrvatska i Prekodunavlje] : How will you convince all the leaders in North Eurasia that their nation should form a superstate with all the other nations and that it will be a socialist state? Some of them leaders are monarchs like Prince Zygmunt.

Nicolas Kardashian : YOU will convince them. Everyone of you at this secret meeting will have to convince a North Eurasian leader or two to form a socialist superstate. That's your job for this year.

John Charlton [CEO of News GC, which owns the tabloid The Sun] : I wonder how Jimmy Dalglish and me will convince Queen Margaret II of Caledonia to abdicate...

Baron Philip von Röthlisberger : Just kill her, she's over 100 years old anyways. Maybe her heir Prince Tearlach of Cambria will be more cooperative.

Nicolas Kardashian : Well let's put an end to this meeting, convince your country's leaders and let's meet again later this year. The meeting is suppose to be annual, but for something important like this, we'll have to meet again.

Willie Ruth : Maybe during the world cup?

Hank DiMaggio : Soccer world cup?

Willie Ruth : Yes!

Baron Philip von Röthlisberger : Sounds like a plan, let's meet again during the world cup of soccer.

Nicolas Kardashian : The 2018 annual Brandenburg meeting is officially closed. We are going to meet again for a 2nd 2018 annual Brandenburg meeting during the world cup of soccer. Thank you everyone for your presence.

(OOC: Looks like I got sick from traveling again... Dunno how much I'll write for the rest of the group stages but here's this at least.)

"We've got something important to announce. We're going to have a new captain from now on..." said Michael Chaudari, standing in the middle of the locker room of the Imperial national team. "The votes from earlier are in and all of us on the staff have approved making a change. The announcement is a bit late, but it's only fitting that we took our time with it. Our new vice captain will be Eric Bystrom, and our new captain will be Rohan Narang. That is all."

The meeting ended abruptly only seconds after it started, and the players were left wondering what it meant. At least, Arianne Venczel and Domotor Marian and Devon Patil were trying to figure that out. "We have a Storm player and a Foxes player as vice captain and captain. I'm not saying they rigged it, but... You think the staff decided that we needed one player from each of the two biggest teams?" Arianne asked. "You should've been vice captain, Devon. Eric is going to keep towing the line for Leif."

"Give him a chance, as much as it pains me to say this," Devon said. "We don't know what he'll do, he's always a wild card. On and off the field. I learned that one the hard way."

"Yeah, right. He's Storm through and through. He's going to stick up for their guys, not ours," sighed Domotor. "I swear, this thing was rigged. Nobody really likes the other Storm players anymore and yet Eric wins. Because god forbid we have two Foxes as the captains."

Arianne sighed and started walking out of the room. "Let's see how he does... But if he keeps acting like Leif did, I'm out. I don't have anything to prove anymore by playing for Anglatia. At this point, the sponsorship money isn't worth it. The WBC is a shitshow this time around..."

Jeremiah Lynch Tonight

The logo for Jeremiah Lynch Tonight flashed on the screen and then the video cut directly to the studio where a middle aged white man with dark hair was standing there wearing a bowtie.

Jeremiah Lynch - Hello and welcome to Jeremiah Lynch Tonight, the show where we have zero tolerance for spin, propaganda, bullshit and pompousness. My first guest tonight is News Magazine journalist Royale Truchon. Miss Truchon is a graduate of Guertin College who reportedly spent her college years protesting against the tyranny of Consul Kulseth. She is here to talk with me about the Progressive Party primaries. Hello, Miss Truchon and welcome to Jeremiah Lynch Tonight.

Royale Truchon - Thank you for having me, Jeremiah.

Jeremiah Lynch - What the Federation is wondering at the moment is this: What in the hell is going on in the Progressive Primaries? Why is some college student from Taxachusetts the frontrunner for the Progressive Party?

Royale Truchon - Lydia Henderson is inspiring a generation of our nation's youth to become involved in politics and be the change that we want to see in the world. For a long time, we've been told that politicians have to be stuffy old people who belong to evil cults or psychotic brothel tycoons or mealy-mouthed lawyers who can be trusted about as far as I can move a mountain. Lydia is showing us that politicians can be cool, fashionable and stand for great causes like feminism!

Jeremiah Lynch - But is feminism really such a great cause? I mean, come on, there are nations in our multiverse where a man can be convicted of rape for having consensual sex with an intoxicated woman or even for having sex with his wife!

Royale Truchon - I can't believe you actually just defended that! I mean, come on, its [the current year] and the Free Republics still lacks laws against date rape and marital rape! Seriously?

Jeremiah Lynch - If the kinds of laws you advocate were passed, most Republican men would be technically guilty of rape. Is that not proof of the absurdity of those concepts?

Royale Truchon - It isn't. We need to teach men, from a young age, to respect women's bodies. We are not sex objects.

Jeremiah Lynch - You say you're not a sex object, but if so, why are you wearing such a low-cut top and such short shorts? If you don't want men to look at you, wouldn't you be better off wearing gym clothes or something?

Royale Truchon - Can you stop being a sexist pig and ask me questions about the election already? I'll wear whatever I want!

Jeremiah Lynch - Answer my question: If you don't want men to stare at you, why do you dress like such a slut?

Royale Truchon - I wear these clothes because they're comfortable. Next question.

Jeremiah Lynch - Lydia Henderson has said that Dixon Light "literally advertises its terrible beer as a date rape drug" and you said that "its hard to argue" with that claim. I have been informed that Dixon Light contacted News Magazine today demanding a retraction and an apology. Do you stand by those remarks?

Royale Truchon - Well, Dixon Light does advertise its beer as a date rape drug and I have the commercials to prove it. If Dixon Light wants to sue me or News Magazine for libel, well, I dare them to do that because everything Lydia said about them is absolutely true. In fact, I'll be writing my next article about Dixon Light's history of misogynistic commercials.

Jeremiah Lynch - Unfortunately, we are out of time. If you can find proof of your allegations against Dixon Light, I'd love to have you back on the show to share that proof with my viewers.

News Alert

Suddenly, a logo reading "RSFBC News Alert" flashed on the screen and a man in his mid-30s with long black hair appeared on the screen. Clovis Duranseau had long been RSFBC's news desk anchor. RSFBC News Alerts tended to occur about twice an hour, on average, sometimes more often than that.

Clovis Duranseau - This is Clovis Duranseau with an RSFBC News Alert. I interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to inform you that RepublicSoft has released a new update for Doors 13. The new update adds compatibility with RepublicSoft Saint software and also includes several upgrades to system stability. In other news, the World Baseball Classic game between the Free Republics and the Southern Democratic States will be airing on FBC at the top of the hour. We now return to Jeremiah Lynch Tonight in progress...

The Scootalove City Unicorns are on a three game win streak.

Games 19 and 20 went near perfectly.

Game 19 did indeed go perfectly. As they went off to play a perfect game.
No one from Dimetrija managed to get on base even once.

Game 20 was a bit of a nail bitter, but inning 8 giving the SCU the one run they needed plus more awesome pitching from 'The Last Unicorn', made it a calm victory.

Local Cafe, Somewhere in Newsmanistan
11:34 PM, The Night Following the Loss to Ethane

Sinjin looked out of the corner of his eye at Jacob, who was at the moment ruffling through one of the pockets on his blue hoodie, zipped up over some exercise clothes, and pulling out a piece of gum to smack on; he knew his nerves were on, and Sinjin couldn't blame him, the game had been a tough loss, and things certainly hadn't been going their way lately. Five straight losses was tough, and now because of this evening's loss they were six points behind in the qualification race and there was only six more games left. They were going to have to win a very large portion of them, or they would once again be doomed to being eliminated with no qualification, and just qualifying alone was a big dream of Jacob's.

In a few minutes, his internal thoughts were disrupted as the young barista placed the two cold coffee's down on the counter in front of Sinjin and wished him a nice evening; cold because of the long full team practice Jacob had presided over and held, and they had worked from the sun to the dusk, before the drained players and coaches finally went home, bringing the duo here to discuss and relax; the caffeine was so they could both be functioning at somewhat decent levels.

He brought the drinks over to their table in the corner and sat opposite of Jacob, placing his drink in front of him, who took it and drank some immediately, letting Sinjin mull silently for a few moments before he spoke "It was a bullshit call, it went foul before it went out and you know it."

Sinjin shrugged "Doesn't matter, we did our best Jack, Ethane is one of the highest baseball powerhouses, and we fought them well; yeah, we shouldn't have allowed that grand slam in the 8th, that was the beginning of the end for us, and yea, it's a bullshit way to end what should have been a resounding win for us, but o well. As you preached tonight, we need to move on and show up with fresh armor, and sharpened weapons tommorrow for Nagore. They all want revenge, especially Valentine and Kirby."

"Yeah, but what about the following game, against the Gregs?! We've dropped easy games against Nagore and Turk before, and now it's hurting us. We have five games left, and it's going to be one of the most brutal grinds this team has done yet. You know how much pressure I'm under?"

The strain on Jacob's face was now obvious, and he looked visibly frustrated "Not only do I have to deal with the bullshit here, but I got that fancy MP breathing down my neck, and the Minister calling my cell after every game; if we don't make real successes here, we're going to delay the dreams of tens of thousands back home, who want pro leagues, and every MP in Parliament is going 'well, if they can't succeed there, what's the point'?'"

"Not to bloody mention their beloved footballers haven't freaking had a winning record, let alone qualified themselves! But noo, let's give them millions and millions of pounds."

Sinjin held up his hands in a reassuring manner "You've put together a solid team Jack, they've done good for coming from a nation who does little to promote training for the sport. Once we're done here, which I'm sure we'll move on in, you could even get a coaching job again back home."

"Heh. Your optimism always impresses me; granted, I might be a little down from that damn game. Clarke is doing much better in bullpens and games, same with Morgan. I agree with you, I think with those two, they are the final keys to getting our machine working again; going to be close, but I think we can do it. But you know what this means right?"

Sinjin chuckled "More dawn-to-dusk training sessions?"

Anthoran Training Facility, Somewhere in Newsmanistan
11:42, The Night Following the Loss to Ethane

Pang!

The loud sound of the baseball going ninety eight miles an hour slapping into the metal plate that was a resembled stand-in for a catcher or strike zone reverberated throughout the facility, and through the ears of Noah who paused a moment, holding his gloved hand on his hip and wiping the many beads of sweat off of his forehead with the back of his other hand. He readjusted his cap, and then bent over to pick a ball out of the bucket next to him, half full of them though once containing more, and got into his stance again; an standard windup, bit of a lower kick, then out and over, hurling the ball at high 90's rates of speed, and hitting at would be the top left corner, and just barely at that.

The facility he was training in was almost completely dark, save for the single light brightly casting light down on the strip of practice pitching area that Noah was using, his teammates long having left for their hotel rooms to collapse from fatigue and to rest up for tomorrow's short practice and then game; he however was in the same spot as he had been for the last week's worth of nights, his music playing just loud enough to hear over his thoughts, which was pretty loud, and him in a battle with his thoughts.

Pitching wasn't just mastering the physical skills, it was a mental battle too he thought. You could have your form and kinetics down pat, but if your brain, your thought wave process, wasn't taking the same route as what your body was doing, it would mess you up entirely; and he was determined to fix that for himself, to end the internal battle waging in his head. What battle was it, one might ask he wondered. A battle of self-doubt, second guessing, regrets, wondering, if he had done a different pitch, or worked out more over the season, would he have gotten his team further in the league playoffs? Him, the elder ace that everyone said had been dominant for so long for Stertly, and then, after finally getting close to a second finals with them, blowing it in the last inning, off of a deep double that ended up scoring the winning run. He couldn't remember the count of how many times he had replayed everything he could remember of that memory of the disastrous result, and the lead-up to it. What his thoughts had been, why he picked the pitch he did, he knew his fastball had dropped just a little that season, should he have gone with a curve like Jason originally called for?

The internal back and forth had distracted him alot, made him unfocused he wagered, and it was a time to put an end to it; hence why he was here, blaring out the music of Anthoran rock bands long in their hinter-years, and practicing his form, and his pitches all over again, and again, and again. During the day, he'd have Bernard and Jason here to help with the coaching, but this, this lone session he preferred more. The silence let him find himself.

As he threw three more pitches, each a curveball, and each at a different region trying to practice on his hook of this particular pitch and using it for increased accuracy, he stopped to go over to the side where he had a bottle of water with his bag, and while he stopped to set his glove down and get his drink, he noticed Tony, leaning quietly against the back wall, with a blank look on his face. "What are you doing here Tony, shouldn't you be sleeping?"

Tony walked forward, more into the light, and shrugged, adopting a small smile on his face "Well, Bailey went alot harder on Patrick then me, I've been doing okay, just really working on keeping my timing sharp, getting slightly slow. I think the tooth is starting to finally get a little long. Could ask you the same thing you know."

"I think we both know what I'm doing."

Tony leaned on his right shoulder against the side wall and watched as Noah headed back to the mound "Feeling a little pressured? Can't say why, Konnor's hot streak ended with that terrible game three games ago and Alan isn't doing as good as he should be doing either."

"They're both young, just need to work on their form that's all. I'm a bit..more...-"

"Needing of work?"

Tony offered the but-in comment with a tease in his tone, but didn't garner much of a look from Noah, who continued to go through his motions, and pitches, and keep practicing. Tony watched him for a few more pitches, waiting for Noah to pause, and then spoke again "You know, you might do better if you had someone catching for you. Jason should be here at least, you too know each other very well, he could help you more."

"I'm not going to keep him up till 3 doing this, not fair to him."

Tony shrugged and walked towards the batter's box, so he was in front of Noah " I could help, since I'm here. Caught a little when I first was coming up, couldn't have changed too much since then."

Noah gave him a blank look, and then a surrendered nod, and Tony grinned and walked over to a bin at the back of the strip and picked up a catcher's mitt, fitting it on and pounding it a few times with a clenched fist before taking up the catcher's position and waiting, as Noah did his windup, and then maintained his focus as a high fastball was sent at him, catching it well, and then tossing it back to Noah. They continued this training in silence for a few moments, Noah seemingly probing Tony's skill as he shot various pitches at various spots all around the box at Tony before speaking first this time "What do you think?"

"Think of what?"

"I think you know what?"

Tony shrugged "I might be a good second baseman, but I don't read minds dude. If you mean, what do I think about you playing could I have done better, in that playoff game against Bardale, I think you need to get the hell over it."

"You think I'd be where I was in my league, if I got down on every let down I ever committed in my career? C'mon, I've been playing for eleven seasons, there have been dozens of at-bats where they needed me to get a hit, get a RBI, drive that run in - and guess what, I didn't. I struck out, popped out, flew out, whatever, you name it. You know what I did next? Got the hell over it, went back to the training and focused on working on the basics, mastering them, and committing myself to doing better next time."

Noah stopped pitching for a moment, and Tony slipped down onto his knees and kept talking "Noah, you've had a very successful run for six seasons, you probably have at least half of that number left at the very least, but c'mon, you couldn't be dominant forever. Our sport isn't like that, our sport if anything is the most like life then any other. There are ups, times where you are just king of the fucking existence, and then wham, you're dropped harder then one of those heaters you hurl. It sucks, it hurts, but you get back up and aim for the top again, and eventually, you'll be true to your aim."

Noah nodded slowly, and then got a slowly growing grin on his face "You're gonna help me get Jason down here this late; because I'm going to smoke those freaking Slavers in my next start!"

Tony smiled and chucked the ball back to Noah "That's a good start kid."

MORE CLINCHERS!

Now the World Baseball Classic has advanced to even more games, and even more teams have now clinched to the round of sixteen. These teams have all had good seasons, but are not as good as the teams that clinched first, and so will likely be given less prominent seeds, though it is still enough of an achievement to make it to the round of sixteen. All of the teams that clinched should be very happy and proud of their players, especially since they are in the first seven teams to clinch, and they have still clinched so early, with five games left to be played. All of the clinching teams are good, and we see some returning faces, as well as some newer players.

Frenline Delpha
Frenline Delpha has now reached the status of veteran for most participants, having participated in every WBC since WBC 33. Frenline Delpha has had a limited amount of success, almost making it to the end in WBC 36, but then falling short against its rival Schiltzberg, who ultimately won, and Frenline Delpha had to settle for fourth place after falling short against Nova Anglicana in a close five-game series for third place that went to the maximum amount of games. Frenline Delpha made its first big impression on the baseball world when it co-hosted the International Baseball Slam's tenth edition with its friendly rival Schiltzberg, but Frenline Delpha really established itself as a baseball entity when it co-hosted World Baseball Classic 37 with Ilyseum, which required a great deal of commitment. Frenline Delpha hosted both very well, and gained a lot of respect from the baseball world. Frenline Delpha was also appointed Vice President of the World Baseball Classic council under Schiltzberg's administration, which will last from WBC 38 to WBC 40. At that point, Frenline Delpha will probably be a leading candidate for President of the council, since Schiltzberg will not be allowed to run for re-election. Frenline Delpha's history in the Classic is that they qualified for the playoffs in their first go at it in WBC 33, but were swept in the round of sixteen by Maklohi Vai, who ultimately made it to the finals, but lost to Schiltzberg. In WBC 34, Frenline Delpha again qualified for the playoffs, and then defeated Ko-oren in the round of sixteen. They were then eliminated in the quarterfinals by Cosumar, who ultimately finished as runners up to Gregoryisgodistan, but this still marked an improvement from the previous year, when they had been eliminated in the round of sixteen. In WBC 35, Frenline Delpha qualified again for the playoffs, and then swept The Serbian Empire two games to none to win the round of sixteen, but then they were once again eliminated in the quarterfinals, this time by a sweep from Jeckland, who went on to the semifinals, but was eliminated by Schiltzberg, who ultimately won the tournament. WBC 36 was Frenline Delpha's best year so far, as they made it all the way to the final four, but they lost their semifinals round to the defending champs, Schiltzberg, who would go on to defend their title that year, and then Frenline Delpha also lost the third place game, disappointing their fans to some extent to have such a disappointing exit after such a promising year. In the most recent World Baseball Classic 37, which Frenline Delpha co-hosted, they were eliminated in the round of sixteen, which was a disappointment for their fans, especially since they were the hosts. Zyarus eliminated Frenline Delpha in the round of sixteen, and then went on to the semifinals, where they lost to Super-Llamaland, who was ultimately the runner up, with Schiltzberg once again the champion. Zyarus defeated Gregoryisgodistan by sweep in the third place game. Frenline Delpha hopes to make it far in WBC 38 to hopefully finally have a championship season. They have put up good numbers so far, which they hope to continue, currently holding a 16-4 record.

More to come on the clinching teams...

President Marion Congratulates Convicts,

In a strange move, President Marion congratulated the Convicts this morning for their clinching a playoff berth to head to Newmanistan. While speaking at a press conference in Woodbury, the President told the media in a lengthy address,

“We should unite as one to support our baseball team. The World Baseball Classic represents the finest in baseball competition, and they will be representing Kinzenland. They have not won their group, but stand to have a very good chance to be the best second place team in the entire tournament, which would match them up against the worst first place team, and that could be a recipe to do more then just make it to Newmanistan, but it is very possible that they could win a round. It would seem unlikely that they would do more then that, but it always seemed unlikely that these players would have the success that they have had, so anything can be possible. I ask everyone to look past what they have done. Hopefully, this tournament will make them better people, and they are one of us. Let us be forgiving, and cherish the fact that the flag of Kinzenland will be represented in Newmanistan!”

That is a statement that might sound good, but as you may expect, it has not gone over well as many still feel that the President needs to resign over what has happened, and if he refuses too, that he should be impeached. To his credit, the President has remained firm, and not discussed those rumors, but it is likely that he realizes that his only hope at this point is to try and rally people around the Convicts. The latest support poll for the team finds that 34% of Kinzenites are supporting the team. That is a number that is slowly climbing, and Marion is pinning his hopes that it will at least, climb over the 50% barrier.

Pete Bullard, a man we touched on before as being the victim of an assualt by Edward Hutchinson is taking up the lead to the opposition party, but he is also finding his hecklers, which are based on the details of the initial crime. (Owing Hutchinson $50). Bullard arranged a protest outside the headquarters of Taylorsville’s Channel 8 news, the station chosen as it is the network of Katie Simpson, the sports reporter who has made light of his injury continuing to glorify the “Convicts to Eventual Millionaires” storyline. Bullard told a representative of rival network, Channel 5, that, “The President must go! (He shouts this three times) I hope he could do the diplomatic thing and resign but clearly he will need to be impeached. We can not free these violent offenders! (He shouts this five times) Channel 8 too has become disgusting and they must fire Simpson immediately!” Katie Simpson and Channel 8 were not fazed by the protest and may have thrown more fuel on the fire when Simpson stated that, “I will give $50 to the person that creates the best internet meme and emails it to me over the Convicts To Millionaires theme and this Bullshitard clown.”

NABL Prospects Preview

In the following days, we're going to be doing extensive previews of the farm systems of the twelve teams of the NABL, division by division. We're continuing with the Eastern Division and the Pons Aelius Mariners.

Pons Aelius Top 7 Prospects

The list and grades are a blending of present performance and long-term potential.

GRADE MEANINGS

Grade A prospects are the elite. In theory, they have a good chance of becoming stars or superstars. Usually, most Grade A prospects develop into at least major league regulars, but in some cases (injury), they don't quite pan out.

Grade B prospects have a good chance to be successful. Some will become stars, some will not. Most will spend at least some time in the majors.

Grade C prospects are the most common type. These are guys who have something positive going for them, but who may have a question mark or three. A few Grade C guys do develop into stars. Many end up as bench guys. Many don’t make it at all.

Finally, keep in mind that all grades are shorthand. A Grade C prospect in the Labrador League could end up being a great players, while a Grade C prospect in the Maritime League isn't likely to go anywhere.

1) Alex Pittman, RHP, Grade A-: Age 23, international free agent signing from Canada, Mariners had to give him 1.5 million pound signing bonus to keep him from going to MLB; struck out 141 batters against 58 walks in 125 Maritime League Innings this year with a 2.91 ERA; 94 MPH four-seam fastball, hard slider at 88 MPH, curveball and changeup are future league-average pitches, working on a cut fastball; he can survive with imprecise command in bigs, but walk rate is concerning; ceiling is #1 starter, floor is probably late-inning reliever; ETA this year.

2) Thomas Wagner, LHP, Grade B+: Age 24, 1st round pick three years ago, threw 145 innings with a 3.40 ERA in Maritime League, 121/41 K/BB ratio; tall at 6'5 and solidly built at 220 pounds, kind of a Chris Keyes-type; 91 MPH fastball is only average, but has a good curveball and screwball, changeup and cutter will eventually play at big-league level; pitched as a ready-now kind of a guy, but learning curve a little steeper; Upside is #2/3 starter, more likely #4 type of guy. ETA: may not break camp with the team, but certainly this year.

3) Ben Clayton, RHP, Grade B+: Age 19, 1st round pick last year; 100 innings in Twin Provinces League this year yielded a 94/38 K/BB ratio with 106 hits allowed and 3.04 ERA; combines 96 MPH fastball with 81 MPH hammer curveball; had minor shoulder issues this year and last year; needs a true third pitch and to avoid injury, but could be a legitimate #2/3 starter or at least a late-inning reliever. ETA three years from now.

4) Chris Townsend, CF, Grade B: Age 22, 1st round pick this year; hit .304/.335/.437 in Labrador League this year; only five homers, but 25 doubles and eight triples; average strikeout rate but poor walk rate; defense is above-average with average arm; speed is a tick above average; a solid player who can play any outfield position; he can hit for average and defend, but he can't be a major league regular without improving his walk rate; we'll have to see how he handles higher levels. ETA: two to three years away.

5) Jesse Johnston, 3B, Grade B-: Age 22, 2nd round pick last year; slashed .244/.299/.471 in TPL with 26 homers; a well-built (6'4, 225) switch-hitter; better from the left side (.268/.317/.499, 17 homers) than from the right; big holes in his swing from either side and still working on recognizing and hitting off-speed stuff; has the arm for third, but not a strong defender by any stretch of the imagination, could end up at first. ETA: Mariners issues at the corners mean he's just two years away.

6) Jimmy Scott, C, Grade C+: Age 23, 2nd round pick three years ago; hit .251/.312/.400 in Maritime League, six homers and 28 doubles to go with 42 walks against 54 strikeouts; bat probably won't be any better than below-average, but that's fine for a catcher; strong arm behind the plate and decent mobility, not a defensive liability; his game-calling needs to improve, but he's a guy with a legitimate shot at sticking in the majors. ETA: late next year.

7) Danny Stone, RHP, Grade C+: Age 24, 3rd round pick three years ago, pitched 56 innings with a 1.93 ERA in Maritime League; 58/23 K/BB ratio and 34 saves; 1.29 ERA in seven big league innings with 7/3 K/BB ratio; hard 93 MPH two-seamer with movement, average curveball that will play at big-league level plus a changeup he can get away with occasionally; some concern about regression of .250 BABIP, may never be a real relief ace with his stuff; ETA: next year

OTHER GRADE C+: Nick King, SS; Jean-Paul Hardy, 1B; Javier Gonzalez, RF; Rolando Silva, 2B; Julius Crawford, LF

Selected GRADE C prospects: Brian Zimmerman, RHP; Lewis Ramsey, RHP; Ben Sutton, 3B; Jack Bryan, C; Joe Flowers, CF; Wesley Singleton, C; Percy Morgan, LHP; Simon Nash, RHP

The reason for the list being Top 7 prospects instead of a base 10 number is that with three minor leagues at 25 players on each roster, the farm system consists of 75 players. Thus the Top 7 prospects are the top 10% of every organization.

OOC: I hate to keep posting shorter stuff but I'm not quite better yet, I should be feeling fine in a few days, though. Because of getting eliminated from the other cup I was in, I'll be turning my attention to this tournament and posting this series.
The Sisterhood

Part Three: Adjusting

It was harder than Allie expected to get used to Ceneisis. With no more drinking before practices, she was faced with the hard fact that she would have to get over her problems by herself. Without alcohol. That was a prospect that scared her, one that she didn’t want to be true. It was, though, and she would handle it exactly as she expected: not well. She continued her habit of crying at night and putting on a resolute face in the morning to hide her sadness from just about everyone else. But she felt that soon enough, she would snap and reveal it to everybody.

At practice, she didn’t quite fit in yet. Everyone expected her to be a player, but she acted like a coach when she was on the pitch and on the sideline. She couldn’t help it, she saw things different than others when she watched a game, and she had a hard time keeping her mouth shut to her teammates about it. That vision was why she was such a great midfielder despite being undersized, but it was as much of a curse as it was a blessing.

Now was one of those times when she wished she could keep her mouth shut. “Hey! Sonny! Stop wasting your movement!” she shouted to Alison Torres, standing on the sideline and watching as Alison lost the ball after taking it down to the wing during scrimmage. “You need every single step to do something… Three feint steps is too many, and you lose options and let the defender get set better when you wait forever before attacking. And when you moved forward and then backwards, you lost all of your momentum. You’re going to lose the matchup every time if you waste so much momentum and wait so long-”

“That’s enough, Allie,” said Tullio Zorzalo. “I didn’t recall making you one of the coaches.”

Allie sighed, folding her arms. She knew that what she was saying was correct… Most other players didn’t know how to carry their momentum the way that she did, and that stuck out like a sore thumb to her when she watched them. The reason why everyone said she ran hard was because she never wasted her motion. But when she tried to explain to others what she did and how they could do it, they never understood. She was good at seeing things, not explaining them. “I’m just trying to help… I’m not even trying, really, I’m just calling things as I see them.”

“Your teammates won’t appreciate you walking into the squad and bossing them around like a coach, you know.”

“Geez, I’m not trying to be bossy, I thought everyone might appreciate some advice,” she said, sighing again. “I’m sorry. I just can’t help but notice things and it’s hard not to comment on them, not when I can help us win. I wanted to help everyone get better, but if it’s not actually helping anything, then I can stop…”

Allie sounded defeated, and Tullio nodded, even though his look was slightly sympathetic. “That’s probably for the better.”

She didn’t say another word for the rest of practice that day. Adjusting definitely was harder than she imagined it being.

=====

The Monarch was the biggest boat that Allie had ever been on. The superyacht was one hundred and fifty meters long, wide and tall enough to practically fit a mansion inside, and furnished well enough to make the owners of an actual mansion jealous. This boat was owned by Shay Hara, the manager of Redvale’s FC Maris Ladies in addition to being a popular former player who had now went into management and started the quasi secret society that Allie was here to meet. The group that was gathering here called themselves the Order of the Mountain, and she was supposedly becoming the first Anglatian to get invited.

“Relax,” said Annamarie ‘AJ’ Janzen-Hara, Shay’s daughter and the one who had been sent to recruit her. Most of the Order’s members were footballers and execs who’d agreed to help each other, and so they had sent out a few members to fetch some of the younger rising talents and bring them into the ranks. One of those young talents was Allie. “You’re tense as hell, but there’s no reason to be. Everyone admires you… We all keep up with how the other national teams in the Northern Isles do, and everyone thinks what you did with your team is impressive.”

Allie rolled her eyes. “I’m out of my depth here. I may not look it, but I’m just a poor girl from East Underfell. The biggest boat I’ve been on before this one is a fishing boat, and this place is also the most expensive looking one I’ve ever been to. I feel like I’m about to break something expensive and-”

“Don’t be afraid. My mom is chill, and she’s excited to meet you. We might all be rich, but that doesn’t mean we act rich. She’s from the Barrrio Sul in Avgaria. That’s, like, our version of East Underfell. If East Underfell is a poor neighborhood where everyone gets assistance from the government and still doesn’t have enough to live on.”

With a chuckle, Allie shook her head. “No, East Underfell is a place where those who work have enough cash, but the ones that don’t will beat you up for looking different,” she muttered, her hand traveling involuntarily to her back, where her scars were. “And your mom might be chill, but what about the others?”

“Most of them are cool… Marlene Corredor is from the bad part of Maris, Cora Blazen is also from Barrio Sul, Kylie Calderon was born and raised in a literal trailer park south of Maris,” AJ shrugged. “Sofia and Skal are the only ones that are from really rich families. Sofia’s family works for the Church, and Skal’s dad manages Janford City and he grew up in downtown Janford. Other than that, most of us had to work to get to where we are. Kylie might have had it a bit harder than you, actually. She grew up with no running water or parents that worked.”

“Ah, fuck it. I guess I’ll give them a chance and see how it goes,” said Allie. “But don’t think this is because I’m desperate for friends… I’m still interested in what you told me about earlier. That’s the main reason why I’m here.”

“Sure… We’ll get to that before the end of the night. I promise.”

Oh, this must be the end.
I see you've found a new friend
Who replaced the man that I used to be.

Honey, I feel like a toy.
Hannah girl, I'm just a boy.
My little eyes just can't make sense of why they see.

I feel like I'm the losing bid.
I feel like Jesus as a kid.
So much power, but I'm not ready to use it.

The devil whispers in my ear,
As my cheeks are wet with a tear,
"You knew from the beginning that you'd lose it."

I've been planning out my tasks.
The real villains don't wear masks.
Now, I'm walking down the highway shoulder.

Honey, I'm lost in a field of clover.
Maybe some bus will run me over,
Or I'll forget of you before I get older.

Three wins in a row for the Southern Democratic States!

Juvencus - (NEIP) After blanking Anglatia 4-0 and beating South Yerfilag 4-1, the Southerners won 6-5 against Juvencus. Tyler Floyd was the starting pitcher for the Bears and Starting Pitcher #1 started for Juvencus. Juvencus took a 1-0 lead in the bottom first inning but the Southern Bears answered with a run in the top 2nd inning when Travis Layne scored on a double batted by Noah Murphy. In the 3rd inning, the first to come at bat was the starting pitcher, Tyler Floyd, and he was grounded out. Randall Worth followed with a single. Mary Jane Castro comes at bat and Randall Worth steals the 2nd base. Castro hits a single, Worth advances to the 3rd base. Nate O'Flaherty hits a single, Worth scores and Castro advances to the 3rd base. Travis Layne follows with a 3 runs homerun. Nick Riefenhauser follows with a double. Wilton Jimenez flies out. Noah Murphy hits a single, Riefenhauser advances to the 3rd base. Jared Hanson walks, Murphy advances to the 2nd base and Riefenhauser stays at 3rd base. The bases are loaded for pitcher Tyler Floyd. He hits a single in right field, Riefenhauser scores! The bases are still loaded for Randall Worth, but he's flied out to end the inning. He came short of the gland slam. The Southerners are now leading 6-1.

Juvencus added another run in the 5th inning but the SDS are still leading 6-2. In the bottom 7th inning, 2nd baseman comes at bat for Juvencus to start the inning and he hits a single. Catcher follows with a single too, 2nd baseman advances to the 2nd base. Short Stop strikes out. It's time for Relief Pitcher to come at bat, but he's replaced with Pinch Hitter #2. Pinch Hitter #2 hits a double, 2nd baseman scores, Catcher advances to the 3rd base. Center Fielder comes at bat and hits a sacrifice fly, Catcher scores but Pinch Hitter #2 stays at 2nd base. Left Fielder follows with a single in right field, Pinch Hitter #2 scores from the 2nd base. 1st baseman strikes out to end the inning. Juvencus scored 3 runs in the bottom 7 inning and the Southerners' lead is cut to 6-5.

Surprisingly, coach Buck Jennings decided to use closer Jarrod Finnegan as a set up man in 8th inning and set up girl Genevieve McGowan pitched in the 9th inning. McGowan struck out 3 batters in a row to end the game and earned her 1st save in her international career. Tyler Floyd was the starting pitcher, he allowed 5 runs, 8 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings. He also struck out 11 batters.

It's a total mess in Butler Group with Free Republics at 4th place, nine points behind South Yerfilag. Southern Democratic States are in the middle of this, tied in 2nd place with Anglatia with 6 points behind South Yerfilag and 3 points ahead of FFR. The Southerners' final three games are pretty much important: Game #22 on MD28 vs Free Republics at Houser stadium in Waddington (Alejandro Gonzalez will start), Game #23 on MD29 at Anglatia (Amber Thomas is the starting pitcher), and finally the last game of the group stage vs South Yerfilag also in Houser stadium in Waddington. To prevent Free Republics and South Yerfilag fans from attending either game, tickets will only be sold to residents of North Eurasia (IP addresses from other regions will be blocked from purchasing tickets online).

NABL Prospects Preview

In the following days, we're going to be doing extensive previews of the farm systems of the twelve teams of the NABL, division by division. We're continuing with the Eastern Division and the Mancunium Pilots.

Mancunium Top 7 Prospects

1) Brendan Wood, SS, Grade B+: Age 23, 1st round pick two years ago, hit .297/.356/.435 in Twin Provinces League and Maritime League; 13 homers and 30 doubles with 47 walks and 88 strikeouts; hit tool is good, with both moderate power and good average, takes his fair share of walks as well; trouble spots are a few too many strikeouts and a few too many errors; ETA this year since Mancunium's been going with stopgaps at SS for a couple years now.

2) Moses Deng, OF, Grade B-: Age 20, 4th round pick two years ago, slashed .265/.330/.399 with Port aux Basques of the Twin Provinces League; hit only two homers but showed off speed with a league-record twelve triples and 59 stolen bases; speed is 80 on the 20-80 scale, arm is 60, hit tool projects to be 45, field tool is current 45/future 60, power will never be more than 45, if that; very raw, still has time to develop, could play any outfield position; South Sudanese refugee who has only been playing baseball since 15. ETA: two to three years away if everything goes right

3) Matthew Drake, RHP, Grade B-: Age 21, 1st round pick this year; 62 innings in Labrador League this year yielded a 70/40 K/BB ratio with 43 hits allowed and 2.34 ERA; combines 95 MPH fastball with 80 MPH changeup, a real change of pace; elbow tweak kept his innings down; 10.2 K/9 is impressive, but 5.8 BB/9 is atrocious and needs work; if he develops a third pitch and gets his walk rate under control, he could be something special. That's a big "if." ETA three years from now.

4) Pete Lamb, C, Grade B-: Age 22, 2nd round pick two years ago; hit .227/.301/.375 in TPL this year; lefty-hitting catcher really struggled at the plate this year; high strikeout rate and decent walk rate, no real power to speak of; defense is where he really shines; excellent arm and mobility, nabbed 24 of 63 stolen base attempts for excellent 38.1% rate; game-calling is already polished as well; he'll have a future as a big leaguer, but that bat is keeping him on the bench for now. ETA: late next year at the earliest.

5) Jamie Baker, 1B, Grade C+: Age 19, 2nd round pick this year; slashed .235/.324/.505 in Labrador League with 23 homers; big (6'6, 240) left-handed hitter; .260 ISO is otherworldly with tons of raw and game power; pretty good walk rate but swing-for-the-fences approach means he misses a ton of pitches; not a bad arm, but probably will never be better than below-average defender, DH type in a DH-less league. ETA: Three years away.

6) Evrard Oullet, LF, Grade C+: Age 21, 2nd round pick three years ago; hit .217/.297/.395 in Maritime League, five homers and 16 doubles to go with 31 walks against 89 strikeouts; interesting trajectory to his career; obliterated Labrador League in year one, excelled in TPL in year two, but absolutely ran into a roadblock in year three; team elected to let him work out his struggles rather than send him back down; tools include pretty good speed and an above-average arm, has some power and can hit for average; he just didn't really show any of them this year; still has big-league potential if he can figure out the Maritime League. ETA: two years from now.

7) Andre Norris, LHP, Grade C+: Age 24, 3rd round pick three years ago; 3.99 ERA in 144 innings in Maritime League, 108/45 K/BB, 140 hits; fastball is just average, but has a sharp curveball that gets him most of his strikeouts; sweeping slider is improving and fringy changeup; has the potential to be a fourth/fifth starter and an innings-eater type. ETA late next year call-up, could break camp with the team in two years.

OTHER GRADE C+: Charlie Hodges, RHP; Rick Ingram, RHP; Salvador Figueroa, RHP; Matt Benson, CF; Eric Leonard, LF

Selected GRADE C prospects: Jonathan Reynolds, RHP; Ryne Olson, LHP; Brett Cooper, 3B; Claude Henry, 2B; Michael Greene, RHP; Yefri Moreno, 1B; Clay Lewis, LHP; Sammy Blake, C

The reason for the list being Top 7 prospects instead of a base 10 number is that with three minor leagues at 25 players on each roster, the farm system consists of 75 players. Thus the Top 7 prospects are the top 10% of every organization.

The Turnbull Story, Part Nine

Alessia called for a taxi. It was the quickest way of getting to the hospital from Edward's house - 25 minutes drive - and Edward seemed desperate to see his dad. Alessia, for one, didn't get on best with Edward's dad. He seemed more like a bully than a dad, having abused Edward before, and had neglected him to get high on drugs - leading to this situation now. It seemed to Alessia like the love Edward had for his father wasn't reciprocated by his father; the road to disappointment for Edward and regret for his father. Yet while she usually refused to get involved in any dealings with Edward's dad, unless necessary, she felt like she could let that slide for Edward.

The taxi took about 20 minutes to arrive, having come from the train station in town, by which point Edward was almost breaking down. It was scaring Alessia at this point. It was almost like her first ever reaction to drugs, yet there was more emotion involved: love for his father. It was rare that Alessia dealt with emotions - her mother was a drug dealer and almost effectively a prostitute, while her friends were mostly limited to Edward and a few other girls at school, most of whom were fairly reserved in their emotions. Edward himself was normally fairly reserved in emotions as well, but whenever you feel the pain of someone you love being in a position where they could die, you lose any reasoning to withhold your emotions from others, especially your best friend.

It was a little longer than expected travelling to the hospital in the taxi - about 15 minutes longer - because of the heavy traffic that had built up as people headed out to the evening concert that was taking place just 10 minutes down the road from their community. Edward was frustrated at the traffic, for he desired to be by his fathers side - the one who helped bring him into the world - to comfort him, to love him, to make sure he was okay. He knew that sometimes his father was horrid, but the pain of someone you love lying in hospital, with you having no idea of what is going on is unbearable. He regretted not taking up the offer of the paramedic who offered him a ride to the hospital with his dad; at that moment, all he felt was anger, yet now he feels sorrow.

At least, having not taken up the paramedic's offer, he had Alessia to look after him and comfort him. To Edward, she was such an amazing friend. She would do anything for him, anything. Once previously, Alessia had spent Christmas Day with Edward because he was feeling so ill he couldn't get out of his bed, and had to be sent to hospital by the end of the day because of how severe his illness had become. Alessia went with him to the hospital and stayed by his side until he was allowed to leave, and even though that period of time only stretched to one day, that one day meant a lot to Edward. He knew Alessia as a true friend. She was always there, always, helping him. And he could never fulfil that role back.

For most of the taxi journey, Edward was worried almost to the point where he was sick, so much so the taxi driver even threatened kicking the both of them out, for fear of them dirtying his taxi. However, he did not, feeling mercy for Edward's situation once Alessia had told him, and it felt like he sped up, taking more risks on the road. Edward mostly kept close to Alessia, whom he saw as a beacon of warmth and light in a world full of darkness. Friendship, is of course, a powerful thing.

When they arrived at the hospital, they proceeded through to the reception, where they queried about the location of Edward's father. After being commanded to sit down and wait for a few minutes, while the receptionist informed the doctor, they proceeded to sit on two blue seats in the corner of the reception area.

'Do you want a snack or a drink?' Alessia asked Edward, eyeing up the vending machine just by the reception desk. Considering Alessia had been watching Edward all day, and Edward had been sleeping and suffering from the effects of whatever drugs they were for the majority of the day, she did feel relatively hungry and wished to satiate her appetite.

'Uh sure.' Edward replied, feeling a little dazed and unfocused. He went to get some money out of his wallet which he always kept in his pocket other than when sleeping, but realised nothing was there, as he had left it on his desk at home. He looked down disappointed.

'I can pay.' Alessia said, immediately seeing Edward look up, a small glimpse of a smile appearing on his face before returning to the frown which he had held for most of the past few hours.

'Thank you.' he said, as Alessia stood up and went to buy the food from the vending machine.

About 2 minutes later, she returned holding 2 sausage rolls, 2 chocolate bars and 2 lemonade bottles - Edward's favourite fizzy drink - made by R Whites. Just as she sat down, handing Edward his food to a murmur of thanks, a doctor strolled towards them.

'Good evening. I'm Dr. Anderson. Please follow me.'

The Sisterhood

Part IV: Amity

The halls of the Monarch seemed to stretch on forever, and it would be an easy place to get lost in if one didn’t have a guide. The place was less of a yacht and more of a floating mansion, with bedrooms and bathrooms and multiple dining rooms and a giant kitchen and a ton of other assorted lounges and rooms for relaxing and unwinding, and there were stairways all over the place that led down to the lower decks. Of course, everything was very luxuriously designed, with no expense spared on anything.

“Hold on, we’re almost to the big room that the parties are always in,” said Annamarie Janzen-Hara, leading Allie Vacek down another stairway and through another hall that was waiting for them afterwards. “Just stay close to me and you’ll be fine. I’ll introduce you to everyone you need to know… I think there’s a TV exec here that you might want to talk too, also. That’s one thing I forgot to mention. We can help you with your other careers. Not just football.”

“Good to know,” Allie said, but she didn’t sound that confident in herself. She folded her arms and followed AJ through the hall until they reached two large doors, which looked like it would be their destination.

“Here it is,” AJ stated, pushing the doors open and dragging Allie after her. The room was a rather large lounge, one with subdued lighting and elegant maroon walls. Most of the furniture was accented with gold, and some of the smaller things in the room looked like they could be actual gold. Most of the light came from chandeliers hanging above, and like everything else in the room, those chandeliers looked like they cost a fortune. Most of the people inside were dressed to fit in, and Allie realized that she would stick out to everyone by wearing just jeans and a sweatjacket. The women in the room wore dresses and the men wore suits, and she and AJ just wore street clothes.

“I really don’t think I’m going to fit in-”

“You don’t have to dress formally. Everyone’s just doing it to impress the new people,” AJ said with a roll of the eyes, grabbing Allie by the wrist and making sure she didn’t run off. “Usually, they’re all dressed like you. What a bunch of show offs. Then again, I’m Marisian, so I can’t really complain about others showing off.”

“Is Maris like your version of Ross? A place where everyone is really arrogant?” asked Allie, looking around again.

“Yeah, you could say that. Not that we don’t have the right to be arrogant. We lead the country in just about everything, from population to average income. Avgaria might be the capital, but Maris is the heart that pumps life into this nation,” explained AJ. “You can think of Maris as the country’s heart, the freeway as the veins, Avgaria as the brain, and the Southern Coast as the ass. I’d say the majority of our members are from Maris. There’s members from all over, though, even one from Nordskania.”

She saw a group that was the best dressed out of everyone there, and pointed to them. “Hey, there’s my mom and some of the others you need to meet. The tall one with the braids is Kylie Calderon, the guy next to her with the man bun is Skal Phillips, the one with the black dress and the brown hair is Sofia Cruze, and the one with the shaved head is Tori Escelara. Oh, and the guy with the wide shoulders and the beard is Jose Gallo de Montana, who is probably our nation’s best male or female player right now. Come on, let’s say hi-”

“I don’t know about this,” Allie said, breaking away and slipping past another group and into a crowd on the other side of the room, before AJ could drag her over. She was usually confident, but since she felt out of her depth here, that usual confidence disappeared quick. She bumped into someone else and turned to see who it was, and found a girl not much older than herself, with black hair and a hard looking face.

The girl would be familiar to football fans in Anglatia, though it was more for off the pitch reasons than anything that had to do with her play. “Theodora?” Allie asked, referring to Theodroa Bojovic. She had been a backup during Revolutionary Nordskania’s run in the Baptism of Fire, but her fiery words to the press had been a part of what sparked the second revolution over there, one that Anglatia had its hands in. Now, after not making it into the first team at FK National Women, she was living and working in Janford, in the Redvali women’s league.

“That’s me,” she said, in her distinct voice that carried no Slavic accent, or any accent whatsoever. “Hey wait a minute, aren’t you the new girl that AJ promised to bring? Allie Vacek, right?”

“Um, yeah. I’m kind of hiding from her, though, because she’s trying to drag me to meet her friends-” Allie started, and then she felt a hand on her shoulder as AJ returned.

“Come on. You’ll have time to meet everyone else later, I don’t want to keep my mom waiting. She might be chill, but she’s very specific. And I’m technically already late by more than half an hour,” AJ said, pulling Allie towards the first group while Theodora watched with interest and followed. She led them right in front of the group, and let Allie go momentarily to get her mother’s attention.

That was when Allie saw them next to each other for the first time, and realized there was something strange about them. AJ’s looks were Latino, or maybe Latino and central European, and there was an exotic look to her skin that made it seem that something else was mixed in her blood also. On the other hand, Shay was Anglo-Saxon through and through, with no Latino features at all. Even her hair color was different than her daughter’s, with AJ’s hair being black and Shay’s being a dark shade of brown that was actually different than her daughter’s upon close examination.

“They aren’t actually related, are they?” Allie whispered to Theodora, slightly confused. “That’s why she goes by AJ, isn’t it? Because her actual surname is Janzen?”

“Her parents dropped her off in Barrio Sul one day and never came back,” shrugged Theodora. “She went to an orphanage there when she was young, and when Shay decided that she wanted to adopt a kid instead of having one naturally, the first place she looked was her old neighborhood. The rest is history.”

“Why didn’t Shay want to have her own child? Is she barren or something?”

“You say that like it’s a bad thing,” Theodora said, visibly bristling at the mention of being barren. Allie didn’t know it, but that was a sore spot with her because she herself couldn’t have children after being shot in the abdomen when she was younger. “But no, she just didn’t want to bother with trying to find a father. She’s never been the type of person that’s good at romance… She’s too efficient for it, I suppose. Shay is all about getting from point A to point B by using the path of least resistance, and romance is anything but easy.”

“You can say that again,” Allie chuckled, as the men and women of the group in front of her were turning towards her. She saw that Shay was approaching her, and she tried to keep her cool and act like she wasn’t nervous. Her poker face was pretty decent, though there was a chance that her body language was giving away more than she intended.

“I see that you’re finally here,” Shay said, quickly hugging her. “The party’s already started, but better late than never. How do you like the Monarch so far? I just got finished redesigning the interior, this is the first party on it since then.”

“It’s, um, really nice. I don’t think I’ve ever seen or been on a boat like this before,” Allie admitted, her eyes darting around involuntarily. “Thanks for inviting me to your… Group. I don’t think I would be able to say that I have any friends right now, otherwise.”

Shay chuckled, and gestured towards the others. “You won’t have that problem for long. From what I hear, you have problems with your family. Well, let me be the first one to welcome you to your new family. We might not be blood, but all of us here are related through our loyalty to each other and through our position as elites.”

Allie smiled, a real smile and not a forced one. Maybe this was worth her time, after all… She would give anything, literally anything, to be a part of a group that was as close as a family to her. She was having a hard time finding her words, but AJ noticed and bailed her out. “Hey guys,” she said to everyone in Shay’s group. “There’s someone you have to meet. This is Allie Vacek, from Anglatia. She’s, like, the third or fourth foreigner to play for us. And she’s also one of the best young prospects, she just signed a deal at Sporting Ceneisis for more money than any of you ever had as eighteen year olds.”

Kylie shook her braids back and grinned at Allie. “I’ve heard plenty of good things about you,” she said, though she kept her distance. She wasn’t the touchy and feely type, it seemed, judging by the distance that she kept from not just Allie, but from everyone.

“Yes. From AJ, and from the press…” added Skal Phillips, before laughing and giving her another quick hug. “You sound like the kind of player that will fit right in here. It’s a shame you went to Ceneisis instead of one of our Redvali clubs.”

“Personally, I’m glad you’re across an ocean from us. I for one don’t want to have to play against someone as talented as you twice a season,” Sofia Cruze stated, making everyone laugh. She had a way of speaking that meant that every time she said something, everyone around her looked. It was an innate authority that you either had or you didn’t, and Sofia definitely had it.

Allie was about to say something in reply, when AJ got her attention again. “Hey, look over there. It’s time. We showed up late, but not too late for-”

“For what?”

“The thing I told you about.”

Social Justice Court

Announcer: These are the cases brought before Judge Zangief Mungus, the sitting judge of Social Justice Court.
The judge is racist.
The Defendants are white.
The rulings are unfair.

In today’s case, FE 102, Salamar Risen (a Flordenton-native) is suing Charles Freedont, a white male from Ice Peak for the civil offense of manspreading and mansplaining. She is suing for {300,000 for damages as well for “being a white male in her presence.” He is also on trial for his patriarchal crimes. Court is now in session.

Bailiff: All rise and present the honorable Judge Mungus. (to the judge) Today’s case is FE 102, or Risen vs Freedont. (to audience) You may all be seated.

Mungus: I see it is a white male being sued in my courtroom today. I wonder how he has tried to oppress this poor woman. (to Risen) You may begin your story.

Risen: I was heading home from work one day, after a long shift at the Icey Pancake House. It was rather nippy outside, so I decided to take the Metro railway down to my house, which is about two miles away. When I entered the train, I saw Mr. Freedont over on the other side of the train from me, and he was just sitting there. It was disgraceful. He had no shame, I tell you. He had his legs open for no reason, except that he obviously knew I was coming before I got on the train and preemptively spread them in order to oppress me. Then, he proceeds to tell me his name and ask me about my job. Why did he choose me or all people to torment in that mostly empty cart?

Freedont: That’s bogus, your honor. All I did was space my legs a little bit apart so I would be comfortable. I didn’t take up anymore space than any normal person.

M: Shut up, scum! I know your type. You like to oppress everyone you can, especially women, and then hide behind your logic and reasoning to defend your despicable actions. It disgusts me to my very core. If I was allowed to, I’d rule in the favor of Risen right now. However, I still need her to provide more details. ANd one more peep out of you without me speaking to you will have the judge arrest you for patriarchal interruption. (to Risen) Please explain your conversation in detail, Ms. Risen. I want to know everything this horrible man did to you.

R: I noticed him sitting down in such an oppressive and terrifying way. However, I didn’t want to bring it up because it would trigger my Chirper PTSD I got once from looking at a picture of some guy sitting down in a train car. I didn’t want to relive that horrible experience ever again, so I kept quiet, just like this horrible man wanted me to. However, once he asked me about my job, I knew I had to respond. I said that it was fine, and then I asked him to sit like a proper lady and not in the way he was. He said that that would be uncomfortable for him, so I decided to reprimand him for his sins against me.
F: Your honor, she got up and slapped me for no reason. I was just sitting there trying to make polite conversation when she starts going off on a tyrade. I didn’t…

M: That’s it. Bailiff, put this man in cuffs and transport him to the Big Red’s Bigots Correctional Facility for reeducation. I sentence him to 72 weeks for abuse of a women and patriarchal interruption. I find him guilty of both of these crimes. Get him out of my court room. Also, I will rule in favor of Ms. Risen in this case, as I feel there is enough evidence to prove that the defendant wanted to abuse the victim in this case. I award…

F: Your honor! Please, listen to me. I need to feed my family. I can’t afford {300,000 theories, let alone 72 weeks in prison. This is absurd. I didn’t even get to defend myself. I amph inocemph.

B: Hard to oppress people with your mouth taped up, isn’t it. You are already found guilty. You have no appeal. You destroyed this woman’s life by being such a horrible person. Let’s go.

(Bailiff leads Freedont out of the courtroom. However, a women from the audience pops up)

Woman: Your honor, I was on the train when the incident took place. I wish to testify that Mr. Freedont is innocent.

M: I would normally not allow it, but I guess we’ll allow one witness to defend this scum. You may proceed. Bailiff, handcuff her before she gets up to the witness stand. We don’t want patriarchy supporters causing trouble.

(Bailiff escorts the woman to the witness stand)

M: You do know that providing false testimony will net you 18 months in prison, correct? You better make sure you tell the truth on the stand.

W: I will, your honor. My name is Samantha James, and I was on the train when this incident took place. It was around 7 PM when we arrived at the stop outside of where the plaintiff works. I was getting off at the next stop to visit my sister and her fiance. Suddenly, I see Ms. Risen shout at Mr. Freedont to, quote, “Close his fucking legs.” Mr. Freedont looked at the women bewildered as she started going into a tirade about how she was being sexually harassed by the defendant. Mr. Freeton asked her what she was talking about, and Risen just got out of her seat and slapped Freeton across the face. I jumped in to intervene, and Freeton told the lady he was calling the police. However, Ms. Risen decided to shout out, “Stop fucking mansplaining, you bigoted piece of shit! I am going to sue your ass in Social Justice Court. When the police got there, they decide to see how the case played out here before doing anything else. Mr. Freeton is innocent, and this woman assaulted her.

R: Lies, all lies!

M: Ms. Risen, is the witness’s testimony true?

R: NO! She’s in cahoots with the white males. She knows what they do, and she has internalized it into her very being. She hates women and minorities, and will do anything to shame them. She has defaced the great name of this court with her endless lies. She deserves punishment!

(Risen walks threateningly towards Ms. James)

R: I want this woman put away for the rest of her life. She is a menace to society.

(Risen slaps Ms. James)

M: I agree. Ms. Risen, I hereby sentence you to life in a Bigot’s Correctional Facility for 25 years for the crimes of being in cahoots with patriarchy and lying about a minority woman. You may not receive parole or time off for good behavior. I hope this will show you what the consequences of being part of the patriarchy are. Bailiff, escort Ms. James away from here. She is to report to prison tomorrow at the latest.

(To Risen)

M: I am sorry about those awful white people. It must be so hard having to live with them. I will make sure you get your money, Ms. Risen. Court is now adjourned.

“What do you think of it?” asked the show’s writer, David Godfrey.

“It’s a good first draft, but we’ll edit it here and there.” responded his director, Harold Rayman.

“I think this’ll be our most popular episode yet. I think this one will really give the audience an insight into what a society dedicated to social justice would look like.”

(OOC: Yes, this is the script for a popular fictional show in Frenline Delpha.)
I don't know how long I'll be back, but I just thought I'd stop in and say hi, at least.

First the bad news, stopped at five games.

Now, the funny news.

The reports turned true, Doofy Unicorn did put whoopie customs on seats of Scootalove City Unicorns stadium on game 23.

They were mostly Dimetrija fans seats and they all laughed it off as the silly prank it was.

Now the good news by game.

Game 23 had a disappointing loss but it had 3 two run home runs thanks to Dave 'The King' Haggard (who got home Dan Herpus), Alex Ponches (Pat Zater) and, Zeek Donald (Muffinus Cute).

Game 24
had a no hitter thanks to our favorite 'Last Unicorn', Amalthea Beagle. Who earned the second nickname 'Marigold Heavenly Nostrils' after this game.
Muffinus Cute, got an RBI of Dave 'The King' Haggard, and Dan Herpus who were on second and first at the time.

Game 25 had sad ending, but it was worth it to get into the playoffs.

Dave 'The King' Haggard, stole his way to second and Dan Herpus RBI him in.

Zeek Donald got a two run home run with Muffinus Cute.

Another RBI came in via Zoey Derpus bating in Stuart Nova.

Fans over the moon with excitement at them getting into playoffs.

PREDICTIONS FOR THE PLAYOFFS

Now that the preliminary round is over, 24 teams have been eliminated, and only the top 16 teams remain. In just a few short weeks, 8 more will be eliminated, then 4 more, then 2 more, and then only one will survive the finals round to be crowned the champion. Schiltzbergian casino owners have made their predictions for the upcoming round of sixteen and beyond.

Round of Sixteen:
-Nova Anglicana vs. United States of Devonta: 5/6 in favor of Nova Anglicana.
Nova Anglicana has only lost one game all season, giving them a 23-1 record, compared to Devonta's 11-13 record. Nova Anglicana is the number four ranked in the world, compared to Devonta's number twelve rank.

-Schiltzberg vs. Gregoryisgodistan: 2/3 in favor of Schiltzberg.
Both teams are former champions, but Schiltzberg is the defending champion and the number one ranked team, compared to Gregoryisgodistan's number six rank. Schiltzberg has a much better record this season, with a 21-3 record, compared to Gregoryisgodistan's 13-11.

-Super-Llamaland vs. The Serbian Empire: 3/4 in favor of Super-Llamaland.
Super-Llamaland was last season's runner up, and is this season's number three ranked team, compared to The Serbian Empire's seventeenth place rank. Super-Llamaland has had a dominant season so far, going 20-4, compared to The Serbian Empire's 14-10 record.

-Frenline Delpha vs. The Derpy Democratic Republic of Herp: 3/4 in favor of Frenline Delpha.
Frenline Delpha is the number seven ranked team, while Herp is still unranked. Frenline Delpha also has had a much better season, going 19-5, compared to Herp's 14-10, just barely making the playoffs.

-Maklohi Vai vs. Anglatia: 7/11 in favor of Maklohi Vai.
These teams are both very close, but ultimately, Maklohi Vai is the better team, because they are the number five ranked team with an 18-6 record, compared to Anglatia's twentieth place rank and 15-9 record.

-Ethane vs. Nassau-Hessen: 5/7 in favor of Ethane.
Ethane is the lower rank, at tenth place rank, compared to Nassau's eighth place rank, but Ethane is a much younger team that wants to win a lot more, and they also have a better record in the season so far, with 18-6, compared to Nassau-Hessen's 15-9.

-Drawkland vs. Kinzenland: 7/11 in favor of Drawkland.
Both teams put up similar records, with Drawkland putting up 17-7, and Kinzenland putting up 16-8, but Drawkland is the number nineteen rank, while Kinzenland is unranked.

-Southern Democratic States vs. Newmanstan: 3/5 in favor of Newmanistan.
Newmanistan is unranked, but they are also only one of two teams that is a four-time champion. Southern Democratic States is also a fairly low rank at 29, so this will not help them much either. Newmanistan also has the advantage of playing at home as hosts, and they have a better record, with 17-7, compared to 15-9.

Quarterfinals:
-Nova Anglicana vs. Newmanistan: 4/5 in favor of Nova Anglicana.
It is true that Newmanistan is the four-time champion and the host, but it is hard to believe that any unranked team would be able to eliminate Nova Anglicana as well as they have been playing.

-Schiltzberg vs. Drawkland: 3/4 in favor of Schiltzberg.
Schiltzberg is far better than Drawkland in both rank and record so far this season, giving them by far the advantage.

-Super-Llamaland vs. Ethane: 2/3 in favor of Super-Llamaland.
Ethane is a good team, and they will put up a fight, but Super-Llamaland has been so good this year, as always, and will likely be able to overcome the young team from Ethane.

-Frenline Delpha vs. Maklohi Vai: 3/5 in favor of Maklohi Vai.
Both teams are very good and have had a similar record in this season so far. Ultimately, Maklohi Vai is the more experienced and higher ranked team.

Semifinals:
-Nova Anglicana vs. Maklohi Vai: 3/4 in favor of Nova Anglicana.
Nova Anglicana is one rank higher than Maklohi Vai, at the number four rank, and it is hard to believe that any team would be able to overcome Nova Anglicana based on how dominantly they have been playing this season.

-Schiltzberg vs. Super-Llamaland: 3/5 in favor of Schiltzberg.
This would be a great rematch of last season's championship match, and just as that series was close, this theoretical series would be close, but Schiltzberg would be more likely to win, since they are the higher ranked team and have had a better record so far in the season.

Third Place Series:
-Super-Llamaland vs. Maklohi Vai: 3/4 in favor of Super-Llamaland.
Super-Llamaland is the better rank and has had a better season so far.

Finals:
-Nova Anglicana vs. Schiltzberg: 3/5 in favor of Nova Anglicana.
This would be an interesting match up, and it is hard to determine who would win this early on. Schiltzberg is the number one rank, while Nova Anglicana is the number one seed. It is hard to predict which one of these will be more significant at this stage of the series. Based on Nova Anglicana's performance so far this season, it would be almost offensive to predict that any team would eliminate them. If any team could do it though, based off of the results so far, it would be Schiltzberg, since they have the second-best record this season and the number one rank in the world.

The Scootalove City Unicorns: Literal Dark Horses?

The image below has been trending on social media along with the hashtags #Nooneexpectedus #TSCU42017WBCC

(The Scootalove City Uincorns for 2017 World Baseball Classic Champions)
Image

Team coach, Alpha Zinch says that "The odds are against us, but you shouldn't underestimate us either. No one expected we would get in the playoffs and well, here we are."

Scootaloo, Rainbow Dash, Gordon Freeman, Silver Zephyr and, Colonel Star Butterfly are confirmed to show at Olympia Stadium, Olympia for the games, all dressed in Doofy Unicorn Kigurumis.

As for who wins, it would be easy to say Frenline Delpha wins. But, again, they have never faced a Unicorn relief pitcher before. Especially one who has two no hitters under her belt.

Amalthea 'Marigold Heavenly Nostrils/ The Last Unicorn' Beagle and Dave 'The King' Haggard who has a few grand slams under his belt could be vital for victory.

It won't be easy, but these two provide hope.

Still, Frenline Delpha has the experience and rank.

Only time will tell if Frenline Delpha wins or not.

They must be good if they got this far right?

However, like the meme goes, no one expected an unranked team like The Scootalove City Unicorns to get this far and they still did.
