AN OFFICIAL HOST BID FOR...

Campionato Esportiva 18 - Ethane & San José Guayabal

Introduction

The Football Association of Ethane (FAE) and the Federación Guayabalense de Fútbol (FGF) proudly present a bid for the next Campionato Esportiva, the 18th edition of the most prestigious football tournament in the region of Esportiva.

Campionato Esportiva Hosts

Ethane has typically been a democratic, left-leaning liberal state. However, in recent elections, the rise of the right has been observed in the Christian Conservative Party and now the anti-establishment MoralEthane! party in the current controversial election. The previous government was led by the Union of Socialists in coalition with the anti-establishment left-wing GreenerEthane! party, which has heavily focused on improving the environment of the nation, returning it to its pristine natural state, making it a beautiful place to visit for tourists. The nation has a strong pacifistic tendency, even with a large military, and puts a lot of funds into public education. However, the future policies of the nation are up in the air at the moment, because of how tight the election is according to the polls.

The nation is well known for many things, including its multiple sporting appearances in the likes of the World Baseball Classic, and the World Cup, and its performances in the Worldvision Song Contest and the World Hit Festival. The nation is renowned for its technology sector, which drives forward innovation. The nation also has well funded and developed healthcare and public transport, making these apparent basic utilities easier for people to reach and use. The nation also has a relatively varied climate, with the Isle of Lowe providing a serene, natural beauty with a variety of mountains and lakes, while the countryside in the county of Tyrielie amongst others is widespread with farms and hills. The mountains in Whiltshire and other neighbouring counties, as well as those in Loweshire, have snow some of the year round, but in the summer months all are places for great hill and mountain walking. The city scene is also great in some places in Ethane, with the major 'nightlife' hubs considered to be in Swanmouth and New Sarum.

San José Guayabal is a nation known for its environmental policies and claims one of its region's happiest populations and also one of the most egalitarian societies in the region. Comprised by 18 provinces and two colonies Governed by Queen Margaret I, the country is a constitutional monarchy as its royal family plays a prominent role in Guayabalense society and is politically active. Boasting a high HDI rating and a dynamic and stable economy, San José Guayabal is an advanced nation which not long ago emerged from a period of civil war which ultimately led to the fall of a brutal communist regime but has quickly recovered thanks in part to the efficient work ethic of its people and now enjoys the combination of market economy and a Nordic welfare model with universal health care and a comprehensive social security system including a huge oil industry. With a beautiful environment, friendly population, and adequated infrastructure, San José Guayabal has a booming tourist industry that welcomes foreign travelers with open arms, also this nation has an state of the art infrastructure to host a World Cup or any international tournament.

Tournament Format

Considering the trend of the last sign-up processes in the Campionato Esportiva, our preferred option is to have 32 teams in the tournament, this doesn’t mean that we will not be flexible to other kinds of format, of course we have another plans in case the amount of sign-ups gets over the mark of 32, ranging from 28 teams to 40 teams in case that happens. Everyone who signed-up may get in, but in case of need, main nations will be given priority over puppets at the moment of the final numbers. In the formats presented below, games will be played in a single leg.

  • 28 Teams: Seven groups of four, best two teams going through and the two best third placed teams, seeding will be done using overall performance being N°1 seed vs N°16 seed and so on.
  • 32 Teams: Same format as used in World Cup.
  • 36 Teams: Nine groups of four teams, group leaders goes through, worst second places are eliminated while the rest of the second placed teams go through, seeding will be done using overall performance being N°1 seed vs N°16 seed and so on.
  • 40 Teams: Eight groups of five teams, best two teams in each group go through.

RPing Bonus and Scorination

The RP bonus will be cumulative and generous, our criteria at the time of grading RPs will be: creativity, effort, and quality, as always we will judge quality over quantity.

We will use the most recent version of Xkoranate (0.3.3) with the SGIS (Schiavone-Guayabalense International Scorination) formula, using the full range of additive styles, from the catenaccio-like -5 to the full offensive +5, up to three decimal points. On regards of SGIS, you'll find more information about it in a following post, including testing and the code of the scorinator. About ranks, the most recent version of the CE ranks will be used.

Tiebreakers

1- Overall Points
2- H2H Points
3- H2H Goal Difference
4- H2H Goals For
5- Overall Goal Difference
6- Overall Goals For
7- Overall Number of Wins
8- Drawing of Lots

Previous Host Experience

San José Guayabal may not have as impressive a resume at the very beginning, but you can notice his progress at hosting major tournaments and also in his contributions to the community. This user who burst onto the scene for World Cup 66, and has had a growing presence in the community ever since, having good RPing skills and enthusiasm. There has been a good amount of events hosted by SJG and his puppets since then - September Tennis Championships, Copa de La Paz, World Junior Hockey Championship V (all with SJG), seven seasons of domestic leagues in San José Guayabal (Currently working on the eighth season) and three with his puppet Alianza Albos, as well as scorinating many friendlies in football and the AO Hockey Championship final, being the most relevant ones the Baptism of Fire 56th (Co-hosted with Schiavonia) and also featuring experience in regional tournaments in one of the main sporting regions like the Copa Rushmori 18 with his puppet Alianza Albos and AOCAF 45 with Ratastan. Then achieving his biggest goal of co-hosting the World Cup in its 70th edition along with Equestrian States (Finals), Felix and Mizuyuki (Qualifying) including the Cup of Harmony 63, Campionato Esportiva 13 and Cup of Harmony 65, including some support during World Cup Qualifiers and Playoffs of the 73rd edition, hosting the 74th edition with Valladares as co-host appart from being the scorinator of the Campionato Esportivano di Campeones.

The user behind Ethane has hosted: Gaelic Football World Championships I, Aurorealis Football League, Handball World Cup XVI, World Junior Hockey Championships 11, World Bowl XXX, International Basketball Championships 22

We welcome any questions you might have regarding this bid - Logo coming soon.

PROPOSED SCORINATION METHOD: SGIS by San José Guayabal
Schiavone-
Guayabalense
International
Scorination
This is the formula we propose for this Cup of Harmony 68 bid, a variation of the Schiavone-Qutar International Scorination (SQIS) called Schiavone-Guayabalense International Scorination (SGIS), which was presented in April 2015 and has been used in six different seasons of the Guayabalense football pyramid, including the Liga Premier.

Some of the reasons on why this formula was released:
  1. SQIS is random sometimes, based on complaints showed by some users at certain World Cups.
  2. Need of an alternative to the NSFS and SQIS methods whose code can be available for public testing for those interested.
  3. A formula that meets balance between the "three Rs" (Rank, RP, and Randomness).
Test Comparisons between SLIS, SQIS, and SGIS formulae
All the tests were made with the following settings:
  • Maximum skill points were set to 1.0.
  • The Stronger team was given a skill bonus of 1.0, while the Weaker team was given a skill bonus of 0.0.
  • A round-robin of 1,000 matches was then scorinated.
Tests were provided by Saintland in April of 2015.

The SGIS formula source code for xkoranate 0.3.3 is located beneath this spoiler for your convenience. To test out the SGIS formula, copy and paste the text inside the code block into a blank file in your favourite notepad program (Notepad, TextEdit, gedit, Kate, etc.), save it as an XML file, and then move it into the folder tree /sports/associationfootball/associationfootball/ inside the folder where your xkoranate files are unpacked. Then, select "SGIS formula" under "Association football" when selecting the sport you want to scorinate.

Ethane-how able will you be to cope should you win both the Campionato and World Cup host bids? Is your RL flexible enough to let you do both so close together?

I must also remind you that both WC bids also happen to have a member from this CE bid.

We're about to reach the acceptable minimum (and, hell, one of the bids reckons they can work with 28 anyway somehow) so it's VOTING TIME

You all know the drill. Send your preferential votes (Mattijana, Ethane/SJG, Reopen bidding) to New Sideburn.

I think we may be divided by a common language just there. "Preferential" votes doesn't mean anything to me besides "vote your preference."
