RW League: Hara leads Fish to title, foreign players make big impact this season

WEEKS TWELVE THROUGH SEVENTEEN

The five game stretch past week twelve was shaky for the Fish, but they managed to stay in first place through Sporting's inconsistencies and their own talent in attack. It started with a home match that should have been very easy, because it was against Bankers United, but somehow the Marisians ended up going down 2-0 inside of thirty minutes because of poor defending on set pieces. They conceded a direct free kick goal and a header from a corner, and would go into halftime down by two goals. They committed everything to attack and pounded away at the Bankers defense for the rest of the match, but they would only get two goals, and not the three they would need for a win. Sofia Cruze assisted Livia Hessenthaler for the first, and Klara Burnham took a shot off of a free kick deflection for the second, but Cruze would miss the extra time winner that could have given them three points instead of one.

They then had to visit Skybrough in the return leg of the always interesting Maris-Skybrough series, and they nearly went down early but were saved by Burnham deflecting Lisa Campoy's shot out of bounds. Then, eight minutes into the match, Cruze would get loose on the wing and Kylie Calderon would pass across the pitch to get her the ball in space, where she would feint a cut inside before firing from outside of the box to take the 1-0 lead. But Maris would take their foot off the gas late in the match, and they would pay for it when Justine Canales de Midvale got free of her marker and charged down the wing before playing the ball inside for Amanda Gallardo to trap and shoot for the tying goal in the seventy second minute. Despite the two draws in two matches, Shay Hara would make the needed adjustments for her team to take down Glenham by a score of 4-0, and Castle Ladies by a score of 3-1. While Callie Flores has been very strong in the back for FCML, they've had problems at the fullback position that showed in both draws and will need to be fixed for next season.

Sporting was the hottest team in the league, but they seem to have cooled off a bit. They'd play the Janford Roses at home and come out with a 2-1 loss after Tori Escelara's second half brace brought the Roses back from the dead late in the match. Like their rivals, they're more talented in the attack than in the back, and that could be seen when Escelara carved up their back line with inside runs on both goals. Escelara is one of the best athletes in the league, notably hitting a top speed of twenty one miles per hour while chasing down the ball on her second goal. A win over Elysia where Nya Murray notched her first hat trick to lead them to a 5-1 victory would put the Foresters back on track, but Wilson Tahiri's side just doesn't have the consistency to stay in the title race. After they drew with Glenham, 1-1, the Roses jumped past them for second place and took over their spot as the one team that can challenge Maris down the stretch at the end of the season.

Near the bottom of the table, several matchups have happened to decide what the bottom of the table looks like. Brigid Hale and Air Force are firmly in the mid table, unlike the men's team, and so even though some thought that they might be the ones going down, the real relegation battle is going to be between Glenham and Bankers United, the two lowest payrolls in the league and the two least qualified teams to stay up. But only one team can be relegated, and in week seventeen, the two bottom of the table teams faced off for the right to stay out of the relegation zone. The match was 0-0 for almost the entire time... Until the eighty eighth minute, which was when someone finally stepped up on the Glenham side. Nineteen year old attacking midfielder Juliana Demura got the ball after a deflected corner kick rolled out to the edge of the box, and she used her athleticism to cut towards the inside and place a shot towards the lower right corner that the keeper couldn't reach. The match ended 1-0 to Glenham, keeping them safe and putting their destiny in their own hands for the last three weeks of the season.

JADE CUP ROUND OF EIGHT

The round of eight in the Jade Cup kicked off with FC Maris taking on Skybrough, who shocked them with a draw not so long ago. Skybrough had home field advantage too again, and Lisa Campoy nearly got them off to an early lead again with a long shot from thirty yards out that went off of the crossbar and was recovered by Klara Burnham. This time, however, Maris got straight to the point on attack. Ten minutes in, Sofia Cruze chipped the ball over the top for Nat Casarine, who would shoot after her first touch of the ball to take the lead for her team. Skybrough, though, would equalize in minute number seventy six when Amanda Gallardo switched onto the smaller Callie Flores and waited for Tori Escelara's cross before knocking down the ball and sending it to the feet of Theodora Bojovic, who finished the chance. The match went into extra time, but it wouldn't go to penalties; Lorna Wilson passed to Marlene Corredor, who waited for Wilson to run forward before playing a through ball behind the Skybrough line for her, and she would take that chance and finish it in the hundredth minute to give the Fish a win after the scare.

Air Force Women also took on the Maris Black Knights in somewhat of an interesting matchup, because while Air Force hasn't done so great in their division and the Black Knights are very good in theirs, Brigid Hale is coming into the match with great form. Hale has carried the Robins by herself this season, and of course, she's the one who scored the clinching goal in the sixty fifth minute of the cup tie. While they defeated a good Rovers team, Knights didn't have enough in the tank to beat a second straight first division team.

Janford was drawn against the Elysia Blues, and they predictably rolled over the struggling side and won 5-0 behind Adelaide Swain's brace, Escelara's three assists, and Theodora Bojovic's late goal. Elysia did well to make it this far, but they couldn't compete against the attacking prowess of the Roses front line and their more profound tactical skill. In the only other match, Sporting Women's Nya Murray and Justice Pierce both had braces to give them a 4-2 victory over Castle United Ladies, who had a good run but aren't as skilled as their men's team is.

Semifinal Fixtures

WEEK EIGHTEEN

The big occasion of the week was the second Derby of Redvale of the RW League season, with this one being held at a packed out Harbor Gate. It was definitely a heated affair, with a red card in the opening twenty minutes as Cora Blazen was sent off for a studs up sliding tackle on Annamarie Janzen-Hara, who found herself matched up against the attacking midfielder because of roaming positions as a libero. The matchup was more favorable than having a center back on her, and Blazen's response to the bad matchup was to try to send a message through the tackle. All that led to was Sporting playing most of the match down a player, and they responded poorly to the pressure. In the fortieth minute, Sofia Cruze made a run through the midfield section that would usually be filled by Blazen, and she chipped a shot over Dana Hutchins. The Fish doubled their lead immediately after halftime when Livia Hessenthaler pushed her way through the weak Sporting back four to grab yet another goal in her rookie season and go up 2-0. They wouldn't need to stay on the attack for the entire time; Sporting wouldn't be able to manage without Blazen, and the match would finish 2-0.

Glenham also faced FC Castle and likely secured a spot in the top division next season through the late 1-0 win. It unfolded almost identically to the win over Bankers United, with Juliana Demura heading in the eighty ninth minute winner for the Gs. Demura has only come onto the scene in the second half of the season, but has been the Gs best player since she made her senior debut. The lengthy attacking midfielder is a former gridiron player who had scholarship offers to play wide receiver for teams including Mount Maris, and that length of hers has made her a matchup nightmare for most defensive midfielders and shorter center backs. If Glenham stays up, it'll definitely be because of Demura's emergence, though it's unknown what her future with the club will be.

WEEKS NINETEEN AND TWENTY

In week nineteen, the big headline was Bankers United securing their relegation with a 3-0 loss to rivals Skybrough, who were happy to go on the road and send their rivals down a division. Glenham will stay safe, Air Force will stay up too, and the Bankers from Janford will be regrouping next season and spending the offseason wondering where everything went wrong. The club could be in free fall soon, with the ironic financial troubles that they've faced, and life in the second division should be tough for them. For the two or three clubs that were closely watching the relegation battle, however, it's a relief; Glenham will continue their long streak of staying up against the odds, and Elysia won't go down despite having a financial advantage over the other relegation clubs.

In week twenty, the final match of the season was a fitting one. FC Maris Ladies clinched the title with Sporting and Janford drawing in the past week, and all they had left was a local derby on the road against Maris Rovers. Bay Stadium was filled to the brim with 'traveling' FC Maris fans, and they'd celebrate their title win in their rival's house. It showed just how dominant they've been in this city in recent years, and historically. Their eventual win was 3-1, with Hessenthaler, Cruze, and Corredor scoring for the West Marisians and Katenka Sokolov scoring for the eastern side. This season was an unpredictable one where there were a lot of upsets and excitement, but in the end, Shay Hara's team came out on top, meeting their expectations and sending them back to the Globe Cup.

RMC 15: Upsets reign in opening Grand Prix

SOUTHERN COAST GRAND PRIX
1 Eric Jacobssen (South Coast Automotives) 3:23:28.483 - 25 points
2 Jeremy Jensen-Fletcher (Maris Tech Racing) 3:23:37.971 - 18 points
3 Jason Yamura (Chang Motorsports) 3:23:49.065 - 15 points
4 Maria Cattaneo (Roja Leo) 3:23:57.694 - 12 points
5 Nic Trentino (National Automotive) 3:24:00.708 - 10 points
6 Neil Archer (Janford Racing Company) 3:24:10.372 - 8 points
7 Marcello Sarri (Valle Rojas) 3:24:24.271 - 6 points
8 Shannon Nils (Janford Racing Company) 3:24:30.129 - 4 points
9 Kei Awaji (Chang Motorsports) 3:24:47.818 - 2 points
10 Andre Kenta (Maris Tech Racing) 3:24:52.208 - 1 point
11 Eros Bergmaschi (Roja Leo) 3:24:52.794 - 1 point
12 May Moretti (Valle Rojas) 3:25:21.761 - 1 point
13 Renato Holden (National Automotive) 3:25:51.796 - 1 point
14 Ashton Triggs (South Coast Automotives) −1 lap - 1 point

It's racing season once again in the Redvale! While teams begin preparing for racing season abroad, things have already kicked off domestically, and there were some surprises in the opening race. While South Coast Automotives Motorsports(or SCAM, as their rivals refer to them as) weren't projected to do anything in the preseason, the skill of local Castle driver Eric Jacobssen led them to a win in their hometown for the first race of the season. And in second came Jeremy Jensen-Fletcher, who wasn't predicted to break the top five even on a good day. Seeing SCAM and Maris Tech in the top five is surprising, but even moreso is the way ex Roja Leo star Jason Yamura gave up a late lead to only secure 15 points instead of 25.

Rounding out the top four is Maria Cattaneo, who did about as well as she was expected too, and performed well under the circumstances. Cattaneo, who just signed for Roja Leo this offseason, has been through disputes with team management and hasn't adapted well to moving to Maris. The other Roja Leo racer, Eros Bergmaschi, had a nightmare day however, wearing out his tires quickly and finishing eleventh after some poor pit strategy. Ashton Triggs of SCAM had the worst day of anyone, finishing dead last and giving critics of South Coast at least some consolation. Marcello Sarri, the favorite for this year's driver competition, finished in seventh after making up ground later after going through a poor start.
Next Race: Tour Di Maris

Football: The end of the drought

WEEKS TWENTY THROUGH TWENTY FIVE

It's the stretch at the end of the season where we see which teams are truly great and which ones are simply pretenders. It's where FC Maris and Sporting Avgaria, and recently, Janford City, have made their names. Not in the early season, not in the provincial tournaments, not in the cup, but in the late weeks of the season when the games matter much more, where one dropped point can ruin a title race. So far, FC Maris has returned to their tradition of dominating the late part of the season, by going five for five with wins in weeks twenty through twenty five. They didn't just beat bad teams, too. They picked up a 1-0 win over their rivals from Janford City, behind Jose Gallo de Montana's late winner, and then went across town to face Rovers, who they demolished 4-0, before Giotto Mariano's hat trick led them to a 3-0 win versus Skybrough. Alvarez Rossi and the Southsiders have been slipping lately, and that loss to Maris shows why they aren't considered one of the nation's biggest clubs despite having almost as many wins.

Rovers, despite the 4-0 derby drubbing, has still been good though. Karen Martinez de Bay has her club playing efficient football that takes control of the midfield and limits the damage that Rovers' weakness in other areas can do, and she's properly utilized Sasha Brewer in free roaming roles that allow him to do what he does best; make plays for others from the threat of his own attacks. During the second half of the season, she's also utilized the young Pridnestrovian winger Arkady Rozier in her gameplans for the first team, including him as either a starter or a second half sub in most matches and using him to stretch the pitch. So far, Rovers' formation has been something of a narrow 4-2-3-1, and because of that, they've bravely played high up the pitch even against better teams that most clubs would sit back against. The play in this stretch culminated in a 6-1 win at an Elysia side that looks like it's going down, with a hat trick from Sasha Brewer. Their play has certainly brought their fanbase back into fashion in their home district of East Maris, even in the port areas that don't traditionally support the more patrician of the two football clubs of the city.

Janford has also been poor after the injury of Elias Basajuan, showing how toothless their starting lineup really can be, but Ryn Phillips has continued his reputation as a tinkerer who can make do with whatever players are available to him. Instead of playing with a striker, he's switched to a 4-3-3 with two wingers playing wide and one false nine who plays rather deep, and he's given winger and attacking midfielder Deanthony Woods the role of playing in the center field as the false nine. Semar striker Janenga Mbaso didn't adapt well to being the starter up front, so Phillips moved him out wide to the right wing and placed Kyle Amuro to the opposite of him as a left winger. As a result, Janford was able to end their run of poor form by taking on Skybrough at home and coming out with a 2-1 win after Woods and Mbaso scored in the second half to help them come back from being 1-0 down.

The other Big Three club, Sporting Avgaria, was previously the team that was believed to be able to catch the Fish, but they managed to have their own run of bad form right when they needed wins the most. After beating their archrivals, they had to go to Elysia and lost 2-0 to the certain relegation candidates. Jamie Fossen scored both goals, with one of them coming directly from the midfield at the end of the first half. Markham Armor's spread attack then stretched out their formation and terrorized their defense, with Bryn Knight getting beat one on one by Santiago Villa de Valle, who would then beat the keeper for the only goal of the match in the seventy sixth minute. Jackson Priestly has been on the hot seat in Markham, but the win over Sporting to move them further from the relegation zone might be the the one thing to keep him around for another year regardless of the poor early season.

Avgaria had a chance to recover from their slide, but when they had to go to Janford in week twenty five, the Songbirds took the match to them from the start and jumped out to a 1-0 lead in ten minutes and never looked back. A hat trick from the rising Semar star Janenga Mbaso led to Janford winning 4-1, with the only Sporting goal coming from Andreas Kohler. Joaoinho has slipped out of form again, and it's been hurting the team badly. There's rumors that manager Collin Milosevic could be out as soon as the offseason hits, in favor of Karen Martinez de Bay or a second stint with Fabien Endrizzi, because of the way Milosevic has been an inconsistent manager and because of the way he ran Sporting's best prospect in a generation, Park Sang Chul, out of town and guaranteed that he would never return to the Foresters. When asked about his job security, Milosevic was cagey and had only a simple response: "We'll see".

WEEKS TWENTY FIVE THROUGH THIRTY

The rest of the season for FC Maris consisted of coasting. Their rivals had capitulated late, Janford middling out earlier in the season and Sporting collapsing deep into the final weeks, and all the Fish had left to do was play out the rest of the schedule to capture their championship. In week twenty six, they played Rovers oncemore in the last Maris Derby of the season, at Flame Arena. Dagr Lewis and Arkady Rozier combined for two goals but Rovers still fell 3-2 in the hostile atmosphere when Mo Araki had a brace and Gallo de Montana scored another goal to secure his top scorer position. In week twenty eight, they faced their bitter rivals from Avgaria for the last time of the season. They went all out to go after Sporting's recent weakness at fullback, resulting in braces for Araki and Mariano as they finished with a 4-0 win against a depleted Foresters side that was tired from previous defeats. During the last five weeks of the season, Maris would easily secure the title, to jump past Janford again for the most championships in the R League era, with six. In the process, manager Beito Noriega became an instant legend for stepping in and instantly turning around the team's fortunes by ending their nine year title drought.

On the other side of the table, near the bottom, Elysia United fans will be wondering where it all went wrong. Glenham was supposed to be the one to get relegated after all, but Glenham just played Elysia in week twenty six and got a 2-0 win at home because of a brace from 40 year old Aki Nunez, with two assists from 30 year old Cosumarite midfielder Gris Mason. Glenham was supposed to be too old, too poor, to stay up, but they managed the feat easily and instead the relegation battle was contested between Markham Armor and Elysia United. While 24 year old Jamie Fossen and the midfield core have been the strength of this team, they haven't done well in other departments, and their defense has been the reason why they were relegated. In week twenty nine, that relegation was clinched when they hosted Markham Armor, needing a win and two Armor losses in the last two weeks to stay up, but Armor's Eli Cameron had his first career four goal game to give them the 4-2 win after a 2-2 halftime deadlock gave some hope to Elysia. "We'll be back up," said manager Micah Wolf, "But we need to regroup and address some serious problems with this team first. I don't know what my future will be, but I want to thank these fans for sticking with us until the bitter end."

With their loss, Elysia will be replaced in the R League by Castle United, who won the second division in dominant fashion and are far above the rest of the lower leagues in terms of raw talent. Here's the postseason awards for the R League, and the final table.

NCL 508-509: Fish will go to UICA, too
National Championship League Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 FC Maris 8 5 0 3 21 14 +7 15 - Clinches Champions Cup spot and AOCL spot
2 Sporting Avgaria 8 4 2 2 18 15 +3 14 - Clinches Globe Cup spot
3 Janford City 8 2 3 3 20 20 0 9 - Clinches Globe Cup spot
4 Maris Rovers 8 2 3 3 10 14 −4 9
5 Skybrough FC 8 1 4 3 17 23 −6 7 - Relegated from NCL

The National Championship League is the elite club tournament held after the R League that pits only the best against the best, with the worst team being dropped and the top three teams clinching spots in UICA competitions. The round robin sees each team play every other team twice, and this time around, FC Maris had the most wins to secure their spot in the Champions Cup after winning the R League. Sporting Avgaria fell short against their rivals to only have 14 points and drop to second, while Janford City had a somewhat disappointing third place finish and will be returning to the Globe Cup next season. Skybrough put on a poor performance and only had one win, leading to them being dropped from the competition for next season.

OOC: You might ask, 'Redvale why are you spending time RPing pointless lower leagues when you still haven't done basketball or hockey?!' Well, the lower leagues produce plenty of players IRL and it's the same here. I'm going to have a talent search thing to point out the top lower league players, many of whom will be available to sign this transfer window.

Ah, lower league football season. The time of the year when the big clubs are on break and the smaller, local sides take to the pitch in tiny stadiums that may or may not have pitches that haven't been upgraded for years. But despite the poor pitch quality and the tiny stadiums, the lower leagues draw enough support in the Redvale to stay afloat, and have just as vibrant of an atmosphere as the upper leagues. There are also more suburban teams in the lower divisions, whereas almost all of the first two division teams are from major metropolitan areas. Here's some of the highlights from the lower league action in the R League system.

Iron Hill joining Division Two next season
Iron Hill is the town to the south of Janford, and while they may be a part of that city's metro area, they hate to be called Janfordians. Iron Hill is it's own special place, and now, they've made it into the league that will but them one step away from the top flight. The Iron Hill Miners have never played top flight football before, but have had stints in the second division and are on their way back there, behind an amazing 72 goals in 27 games to push them over their competition. Their manager, Kazmer Rudawski, is considered to be in the running for the Sporting Avgaria job because of his attacking tactics and his ability to turn a team around. When he took over 6 years ago, the Miners were a middling team in the Conference Premier. Now, they're Division Two.

San Antoine Rising
San Antoine is a town in the western mountains of the Redvale, often overshadowed by Red Valley to the east and Maris to the north. But in football, they stepped out of the shadow of their neighbors with their Conference Premier win, only four years after going from semi pro to fully professional. The club was bought out by Endelosi professional gambler Vilmar Albinsson, a youngish owner at age 45 who has roots in the city and wanted to bring the team up to relevance. After being bought out four years ago, the club went professional, and will now be playing in Division Four with other professional clubs. Their leading goalscorer, Pelle Thorston, who had 28 goals, is predicted to leave them this offseason to chase bigger things, however.

Castle United Ladies join men in first flight
For the first time in a long time, a men's and women's team owned by the same club have made it into the first flight at the same time. While the Castle United men did it through buying foreigners, the women did it through building a collection of some of the bigger youth talents in the game. They're also reportedly preparing a 25 million drachma bid for Janford top scorer Tori Escelara, and an 8 million drachma bid for Rovers midfield leader Clementia Barron. Next season, Castle United Ladies will move into the new National Energy Park, a 55,000 seat stadium being constructed in Fjordham, outside of Castle's urban area.

Chang Motorsports launches women's football club
To combat their rivals Roja Leo, who have expanded into tennis and football, Chang Motorsports has created their own women's football club that just finished its first season in the Conference Two. The club plays in North Avgaria, where the Chang headquarters are located, at a 6,000 seat ground that was previously used for the Avgaria Northend youth teams. They had a decent start for their first season ever, but dropped points down the stretch to finish sixth. Interestingly, their record as also 6-6-6, which may be a bad sign for the future. The club, however, is well supported, and they and Roja Leo along with Castle United may represent the New Money Big Three later on.

THE SIXTH TALENT SEARCH
Every year, there's a time that gets footballers across the country, both young and old, very excited. This time isn't the start of a new season, or a time during the season, but a time afterwards, when the players finally have a chance to get something back for their hard work. This time is when lower league players will finally get looked and and reviewed by the Football Federation of Redvale's analytics department, with the help of the data wing of Bay Athletics, and named in an annual scouting report known as the Talent Search. This search excludes first division players and focuses on the lower leagues; both the upper divisions and the lower and semi professional or amateur ones.

The focus is to find hidden gems who wouldn't get widely scouted otherwise, and the results have been good so far when it comes to finding prospects that may otherwise have gone unnoticed. The first Talent Search notably discovered Hiroyo Nunez as a fifteen year old playing on loan from Glenham Athletic for the Markham Chiefs. The same search also discovered a sixteen year old Sasha Brewer, as he was still making a name in the lower divisions with semi professional Barrow Park Rangers. Which players will be the standouts from this year's class? Well, that's still to be determined. But first, we should explain how the players are ranked.

Players are ranked into different tiers. Tier One players are considered to be ready for top division football immediately and should be considered to be among the best prospects in the nation. Tier Two players are considered good prospects for first flight teams and are worth developing further, because of their high level of potential. Tier Three players are also considered future prospects, but take more development time to reach their potential. These players would do best if they were sent back on loan to the lower leagues if they're bought by top division clubs. Tier Four players are raw prospects with plenty of boom or bust potential, who usually have great physical talents but haven't necessarily proven themselves on the pitch yet. Many of these players, however, have gone on to be stars because of their unique physical abilities.

The Search consists of a list of prospects, and then scouting reports to explain the strengths and weaknesses of them, compiled by the scouting division of the Football Federation of Redvale with the help of advanced statisticians from Bay Athletics. These statisticians create a grade for every player, ranging from A+ to D. While the grades haven't always been right, they've generally been a good indicator of future potential, even if players take varying times to reach their grade. Now that the explanations are out of the way, here's the 508-509 Talent Search list.

THE REPORTS
After the list is released each year, there's also scouting reports on each player, compiled by the federation staff. Here's a selection of some of the most interesting scouting reports from this season's class, of the players that are the most recruited by upper level teams. While the exact scouting methods haven't been disclosed, the metrics used to find the players for the list in the first place have been adjusted to be weighted towards harder competition, and are also weighted towards young players to measure future potential. Thus, older players have more immediate skill but young players are seen more often on the list because they represent more potential. While the weighting is slanted towards high level competition, the weighting towards youth is stronger and this makes most of the list come from the lower portion of the football pyramid, where more young stars start their careers. Here's some excerpts from the scouting reports:

PELLE THORSTON
Age: 23
Position: ST
Grade: A
Pelle Thorston is one of the top prospects in Redvali football despite hailing from the Conference Premier. He scored twenty eight goals last season and assisted his teammates eleven times, and his numbers aren't the main reason that scouts are looking at him. Pelle stands at six foot four and moves much lighter on his feet than someone of his height typically would. He's just as fast as many strikers that play as poachers, or as the speedy wingers that he's played against. That speed, when combined with his height and wide frame, has made him very hard to bring down when he sets his sights on goal. Pelle is the kind of player that invites contact and enjoys it; out of his twenty eight goals, sixteen of them were scored while making contact with a defender. The defenses of the Conference Premier have tried to stop him by funneling him away from the inside part of the pitch, but judging by the amount of contact goals scored, they've failed miserably at that. Thorston's contract is set to expire, and it isn't believed that he'll sign a new one with San Antoine. Rumors say that he's planning to test foreign free agency instead.

JUSTIN MERRAZI
Age: 24
Position: GK
Grade: A+
The only player to get an A+ grade in this year's class is Justin Merrazi, the very successful Straton United keeper. Straton's defense isn't too much more talented than any of the other good defensive teams in Division Three, but Merrazi's magic in goal was able to help them to only concede 38 goals. That was the lowest conceded total in the league, and they nearly were able to win the title and move up because of their skill at not letting goals in. Merrazi isn't an ordinary keeper, but a good sweeper keeper who can come outside of his box and act as another defender to create a numerical mismatch in favor of his defense, when the other team is attacking 2 on 2 or 3 on 3 during a breakaway. His diving is good, too, and despite playing in Division Three, Merrazi has a history in the first flight. He played youth football from the time he was 14 until he was 18 with Markham Armor before leaving the academy to join Straton United, in the Markham suburbs.

LEIF RASCH
Age: 25
Position: CB
Grade: A
Possibly the strongest center back in the lower leagues is the Endelosi prospect Leif Rasch. He grew up in Karakosa, Endelos, and was a member of the Karakosa BK academy until he was twenty, at which point he transferred to Taviston United and instantly became a starter. Since then he's grown a few more inches to reach six foot five, his shoulders have widened a bit more, and he's added technical skills to compliment his natural strength. It's hard to get past Leif when he has his eyes set on the ball; very hard. He's the definition of a ball stopping central defender, the kind that has a high market value in Redvale right now. While he's not a ball playing defender, his ability to quickly win the ball has also started several counter attacks for his team in crucial moments.

CATHERINE VENNEROD
Age: 24
Position: False Nine
Grade: A
The only woman to get an A grade this time around is Catherine Vennerod, who will be a familiar name for Janfordian football fans. When she was seventeen, she was supposed to be the next big thing for the Janford Roses because of her good scoring and her ability to make plays for her teammates too. But she turned out to be the most hardheaded and uncoachable prospect that Janford has ever seen, and at nineteen years old she was kicked out of the academy and signed for Rovers Women, who she would never play for at the senior level. When she left Rovers, she was twenty two, and she signed for Roja Leo. That move changed the course of her career for the better. She had fifteen goals and fifteen assists last season in eighteen matches while playing as a false nine. At six foot one, she's a hard player to bring down when she has the ball in the midfield while her teammates set up, and she's smart enough to know when to drop deep and when to transition from false nine to center striker.

JAMES ESPERANZO
Age: 19
Position: Advanced Playmaker
Grade: B+
The first midfielder on the list is James Esperanzo, Old Janford's wonderkid midfielder who went from completely off the radar to on the shortlist of every scout in the country in the span of a few years. He's not as lengthy as the other top prospects, at five feet and six inches tall, but he makes up for that with his great vision, good movement, and good passing. He's the kind of player that spots a play happening before it actually does, and an expert at getting the ball where he wants it from anywhere on the pitch. But while his passing is good, he needs to work on his physicality, because he's not a very good ball handling midfielder right now.

EZEQUIEL JARA
Age: 20
Position: Defensive Midfielder
Grade: C+
Ezequiel Jara is a big defensive midfielder that can run from box to box and have a much larger impact on the match than what one would expect from a DM. With long and powerful legs, a strong upper body, and good positioning, Jara could be called a prototype at the DM position. But he doesn't just have the prototypical defensive midfielder abilities, he has good speed in the open field and very quick acceleration and change of direction speed, making him a threat to attackers all over the pitch because of his ability to cover long distances quickly. He's very good at closing down, and quick enough to begin counter attacks after winning the ball. He's a better prospect than the C+ grade suggests, and was key in the midfield for his hometown club, San Rique.

HATEM VEGA
Age: 19
Position: Fullback/Winger
Grade: D+
One player with tremendous upside is Hatem Vega, the Maris Bay wide player who hasn't quite found his position yet. The reason why he's rated so low is because he's managed to play both fullback and winger, but hasn't gotten truly good at either position. He's shown flashes of greatness because of his extreme speed, but his technical skills on both attack and defense need improvement if he wants to play in the first flight. That extreme speed, however, has made it possible for him to get past defenders from the fullback position before transitioning to winger and making a play with a cross inside to a teammate, something he's done many times for Maris Bay.

KINU TOJO
Age: 16
Position: Regista
Grade: D+
A prospect that we don't know much about is Kinu Tojo. She supposedly showed up at Taviston last season after dropping out of high school, saying that she wanted to play football, and while the staff initially laughed at the fifteen year old for wanting to play for them, she practiced with the team and earned a contract after one session because of the way that she controlled the tempo of the match by holding the ball and passing strategically. The next season, which was last season, Kinu became the youngest player to play and score for the Taviston Hawks, and racked up a total of ten goals and twenty assists. She has such a low grade because there's no scouting reports whatsoever on her before last season. Supposedly, she was abandoned by her parents when she was fourteen, and she started playing football to have a place to stay, but that hasn't been verified by any official sources. Her main weakness is her height, because she's only five foot five.

THE 27TH RHL SEASON
Hockey is one of the top three most popular sports in the Redvale, sharing the role of most popular with gridiron and association football. The RHL has always been an entertaining league no matter what the quality is like, and the league is one of the longest running sports organizations in the country. The league's games are marked by physicality, grit, and a working class mentality that comes from the streets that many of the players grew up on. It's obviously more popular in the colder areas of the country such as Midvale and Janford, but the sport has a good following everywhere, including the warm city of Maris. Arenas are usually packed out, every action and mistake made by the star players gets analyzed until the next game, and the rivalries are intense. This is the RHL, and this is Redvale's winter sport.

Redvali Hockey League Pld W L GF GA GD Pts
1 Avgaria Hitmen 72 42 19 154 96 +58 137
2 Avgaria Braves 72 42 21 133 98 +35 135
3 Janford Surge 72 35 22 140 97 +43 120
4 Midland Pilots 72 36 26 143 109 +34 118
5 Markham Archers 72 30 32 103 105 −2 100
6 Maris Squids 72 28 32 108 103 +5 96
7 Skybrough Crush 72 29 35 69 80 −11 95
8 Red Valley Bears 72 28 34 98 143 −45 94
9 Glenham English 72 24 40 102 140 −38 80
10 Ravenfeld Birds 72 15 48 87 166 −79 54

The 27th regular season saw the Avgaria Hitmen take home their second Red Shield, the trophy given to the winner of the regular season. Avgaria has long been split between its two hockey teams, with the Braves having slightly more historical success and the Hitmen having a reputation as massive spenders who will pay hundreds of millions of drachmas to secure a title, but this time, the Braves have spent on several big players and the Hitmen have gotten help from spots where they wouldn't necessarily expect it. They signed 19 year old wonderkid Johnny Saint Jesus from the defending champion Janford Surge, and never expected the small forward with incredible speed and stick skills to be their second leading scorer behind winger Ray Ellis. Ellis had 42 goals and Saint Jesus had 37, in addition to leading the team in total points. Their crosstown rivals would've won the title if it wasn't for the late season push from the Hitmen that included Saint Jesus securing a 3-2 win over the Braves with a hat trick for his team. There were practically riots in downtown Avgaria, as the side in green saw the team in black and gold steal their spot at the top of the table.

The Janford Surge weren't a bad team even though they couldn't defend their Red Shield. Apara Montoya was the top goalkeeper in the league, and the half Endelosi star has shown time and time again that he can keep his team in games and add a number of wins to their season by the time everything is said and done. It's not just Montoya that was doing work for the Surge, though. Their defense was strong all season long, with defensive winger Jonas Vaught de Medio and defensewoman Emilia Priest putting in strong performances. The Surge didn't have the best attack that they've had, but they still managed to finish third in scoring because of their depth and ability to swap out injured players with little to no dropoff. Their depth in defense is weaker though. They've often found themselves riding off of Montoya and Priest's performances for the starting line.

The last team to make the postseason is the Midland Pilots, whose hockey team has fared better recently than their football team. The boys in red, white, and blue have put on a show in the attack this season, finishing second in scoring behind the insane offense of Johnny Saint Jesus and the Avgaria Hitmen. Left winger Mason Morris led them in scoring with fifty eight goals, a performance that saw him selected to the first line of the national team during this recent World Cup. Myles York, a second pair defender for the national team, has also been the best two way defenseman in the league this season, and should be a candidate for defensive player of the year.

Outside of the top teams were the Maris Squids, who will be disappointed with themselves after the performance they had late in the season, melting down and letting Midland take an eighteen point lead for the last playoff spot. Sven Lund proved why he's only a reserve on the national team; he's inconsistent, and not the kind of guy you want to trust your team's hopes with. Torrey Bingham was solid for them, scoring forty five goals, but the rest of their lines didn't show up consistently. It's looking better in hindsight that Rokuro Inaba didn't select many Squids players for the national team, with only Lund, Bingham, and Cannon making it. Enzo Cannon, though, was another bright spot in defense. If anyone can challenge York for the title of best two way defenseman, it's Cannon, and he's only 20 years old.
27th RHL Postseason fixtures
Avgaria Hitmen vs Midland Pilots - Hitmen have home ice advantage
Avgaria Braves vs Janford Surge - Braves have home ice advantage

Both Avgaria teams will have home ice for the second time in their history... With a potential final meeting on the north side of town, that the Hitmen will have the home ice in. It's going to be an exciting postseason no matter what happens, but most neutral fans are rooting for the Hitmen versus the Braves. After all, Avgaria might just burn if that's what the final matchup is.

OOC: I'm making a few changes. I don't really like late canon changes, but I'm thinking ahead for what I want to RP with this nation and I decided that adding more territories will add better chances for political RP.
Redvali Territories Guide

The Redvale isn't alone, despite being isolationist in the past. The island is located in the middle of the Northern Isles region, with Patierre and Anglatia to the northeast and Nordskania to the northwest, and the Redvali gods have led the country in conquests against neighboring nations in the past. Through the years, these nations have pushed back and have also went back and forth between fighting for independence and making moves to stay with the Redvale. In the modern age, however, the country has moved away from outright colonialism and has settled to have a number of autonomous territories that are independent in many matters but are united in the following of the Vali gods. Endelos is the most notable territory, because it's the one secular and religiously diverse one, but here are the rest of them.

Southwest Endelos: Do not let the name confuse you. This is a separate chain of islands, and they are named for their southwestern position in the Sea of Endelos, not for position in the Island of Endelos. Their national colors are black and purple, their population is one hundred and ten million, and their chief god is Abysus. The Southwest is known for their right of center politics and for their oil drilling industry, which makes them one of the economic engines of the Redvale and its territories. The territory also is home to a vast mineral mining and purification industry, and shipping industry. The capital city is Helmberg, home to five million citizens, while the other biggest cities are Krasberg and Troy. The current ruling political party is the Southwest Conservative Party.

Northwest Endelos: In the northwestern Sea of Endelos is the Territory of Northwest Endelos, which is more politically towards the center than the Southwest and is more based around white collar industries such as information technology. Their national colors are gold and dark blue, and their population is seventy million. The chief god in these islands is Osytia. The capital city is Ekren, and the second largest city is Nordgrad. These islands are heavily urbanized and very dense, with the IT industry standing at the heart of the cities and keeping the economy running smoothly. Their ruling party is the Progress Party, leaning left of center.

East Endelos: The last of the big three island chains are the East Endelos islands, which could be considered the most Redvali out of the three. Forty percent of the islands have the ethnic ancestry of one of the major Redvali ethnic groups, contrasting with the almost entirely Endelosi islands to the northwest and southwest. The colors of these islands are black and white, and the population is eighty million. Their capital city is Lazaga, and East Endelos is known for having sports teams that compete in Redvali leagues because of the islands' connections with Redvale. The chief god of the island is Ignaa, further connecting them with the Redvale, and the current elected ruling party is the Eastern League, a largely populist party that believes in expanding Eastern influence to the other two members of the big three island chains. Their chief industry is manufacturing, making them a fairly working class island chain that also has a sizable rich population.

While there are smaller islands in the Sea of Endelos, these are the big three territories. They act largely independently during peace time, and control their own internal matters. Many times, they have even went to war with each other while remaining under Redvali rule, just like medieval vassals sometimes warred with each other. When the political climate in the Sea of Endelos heats up, this guide should serve as a reference point for the different sides.

OOC: I don't really like just dumping the scores without doing any RP, but I'm going to use this minor league as setup for the IFL, contested between a bunch of big clubs. So stand by, the Endelosi leagues will have a decent amount of RP by the time of the UICA cutoff.

EndeLiga 1: Season 24

The two most prestigious competitions in the Sea of Endelos are the EndeLiga, which is influential because of its heavy Redvali influence, and the Intercontinental Football League that is contested between clubs from all of the Endelosi island chains during the offseason of the EndeLiga and the R League. This year is special for Endelosi clubs because of the new influx of foreign talent, with a few clubs picking up players from Nordskania as they try to defend their top positions or challenge the big two, Karakosa BK and Slado BK.

League Table
Endeliga 1 Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Karakosa IF 20 10 3 7 40 22 +18 33
2 Karakosa BK 20 10 3 7 44 31 +13 33
3 Heimsjo IK 20 8 8 4 30 23 +7 32
4 Fjell BK 20 8 6 6 28 26 +2 30
5 Slado BK 20 5 5 10 29 45 −16 20
6 FC of Hovland 20 5 3 12 23 47 −24 18

It wasn't what anyone had thought would happen, but KIF defended their title despite the recent influx of talent to KBK, including star forwards Piotr Vlasenko and Park Sang Chul. The Chul/Vlasenko combination wasn't what KBK fans thought it would be in the preseason, with the team losing seven games and blowing their chance at the title with a late season loss to KIF, who won the league on goal differential despite also having seven losses and splitting the season series with their rivals from across town. Several players did, however, dazzle and impress fans with KBK, including Nordskanian midfielder Arkadi Zima and Semar central defender Janko Marcssen. The other Semar in the league, eighteen year old goalkeeper Christian Lygaard, rose to stardom in the late part of the season too. Ante Sindler had quite the season and finally stepped out from the shadow of more well known teammates, becoming his team's leading scorer as they captured the title.
Scorer's Table:
1: Piotr Vlasenko - Karakosa BK - 22 goals
2: Ante Sindler - Karakosa IF - 21 goals
3: Chris Valbrooke - Slado BK - 15 goals

Intercontinental Football League Season Five Preview
The IFL is an offseason football league that has risen to become the most supported football league in the Redvali territories outside of the R League itself. Teams from Endelos are represented as well as teams from Southwest Endelos and Northwest Endelos Three clubs from every island chain, except for East Endelos are a part of the league, and there is no promotion or relegation. The closest thing to relegation is a club choosing to leave the IFL and be replaced by another club by the FFR. This league has become more prestigious in its five years of existence, getting more and more popularity and picking up a massive television contract last season to make it watchable in all of the islands in in the Redvale. Here is the season preview for the fifth season of IFL action. See the player database for listings of each team's top players.

Southwest Endelosi Clubs
Location: Krasberg, Southwest Endelos
Colors: Black and red
Nickname: The Boilermen
Stadium: The Pit(60,000)
Economic Power: Very high
Manager: Arjen Kuula(46)
Brief Description: Originally the working class club of the oil field workers from Krasberg, the Boilermen have been a big part of the IFL since its founding and are the record champions of Southwest Endelos, with nine titles. They might be a classy traditional team, but they aren't afraid to reflect their working class roots and get their hands dirty on the pitch. Their fans have a distinctly working class slant to their support, frequently reminding the players of the club's origins.

Location: Troy, Southwest Endelos
Colors: Blue and gold
Nickname: The Trojans
Stadium: Endelosi Oil Arena(65,000)
Economic Power: Extremely high
Manager: Rui Conti(43, Redvale)
Brief Description: The second most successful Southwest Endelosi club, with eight domestic titles in their own country, FC Troy are more of the new blood team that contrasts with the more historic Krasberg United. Troy is the gambling capital of Southwest Endelos and could be described as a party city where all kinds of shady things go on in the background. This had made it an attractive destination for footballers, and Troy's lineup is star studded year in and year out no matter what their success level is. Their club is owned and run directly by Olson Industries CEO Gabriella Olson, and the young multibillionaire is known to bankroll massive transfers out of her own cash, in addition to rewarding good players with free stays at her casinos. A few of the luckiest players have even been spotted accompanying Olson on exotic vacations in richer cities, but those rumors have been denied by the club's PR department.

Location: Helmberg, Southwest Endelos
Colors: Black and purple
Nickname: The Gulls
Stadium: The Helmberg Ground(49,000)
Economic Power: Medium
Manager: Chris Bjerre(52)
Brief Description: The regional capital doesn't have the glory and glitz of Troy, but does have a large population and a good support base for a football club. They've been stable and consistently good for a long time even though they haven't been great recently, and when they do play great, they always manage to win the love of the five million citizens of Helmberg and get the city behind them. With big support, however, comes big expectations. These fans have been waiting for their golden age for awhile, and they're growing impatient with seeing their two rivals dominate the Southwest.

Endelosi Clubs
Location: Karakosa, Endelos
Colors: Green and black
Nickname: The Angels
Stadium: Independence Arena(61,000)
Economic Power: High
Manager: Hakun Castberg(38)
Brief Description: This club needs no introduction. They have support from all over, from Redvale to the Endelosi islands, and they hail from the regional capital of the central island in the Sea of Endelos. They've branded themselves as Endelos' team, they fill their stadium every match, and they have the biggest brand in Endelosi football. That's helped them secure foreign talents more recently, which should help them immensely in the long run.

Location: North Karakosa, Endelos
Colors: Black and gold
Nickname: The Dwarves
Stadium: Slagmark Park(31,000)
Economic Power: Low
Manager: Armo Jarvela(32)
Brief Description: The smaller club in Karakosa is still a pretty big one, with multiple titles to their name in Endelos. They've also given the favorites in the IFL a run for their money with some decent finishes in the five years of the competition existing. KBK's foreign influx has affected them to, boosting their chances to be a real contender in future years.

Location: Rone, Endelos
Colors: Maroon
Nickname: The Miners
Stadium: Bay Athletics Stadium(18,000)
Economic Power: Medium
Manager: Francis Schiavone(29, Redvale)
Brief Description: Fjell BK was bought out by Bay Athletics and saw a quick rise from being an irrelevant regional team to being one of the top teams in Endelos. They have, however, kept to their industrial roots and they're one of the hardest running teams on the island, valuing hard work over everything despite their new cash.

Northwest Endelosi Clubs
Location: Ekren, Northwest Endelos
Colors: Blue and green
Nickname: The Eagles
Stadium: Blue Gate(70,000)
Economic Power: Medium
Manager: Mario Kuula(43)
Brief Description: Managed by the younger brother of Krasberg manager Arjen Kuula, Union Ekren is the undisputed biggest club in the Northwest and is expected to be a perennial contender in both their domestic league and the IFL. Their city is a more white collared one than other major football cities and that has given their fans a different element to their support; the Ekren fanbase is considered to be 'patrician' and higher classed than typical clubs, with even the diehard fans wearing designer clothes to matches and bragging about their city's wealth.

Location: West Norgrad, Northwest Endelos
Colors: Green and white
Nickname: The Kings
Stadium: Leth Road(45,000)
Economic Power: Low
Manager: Dyrk Abraham(56)
Brief Description: Norgrad FC isn't as rich as the other Northwest clubs but they make up for that by being innovative and developing talent with their renowned academy. This has led to mixed results, but they generally aren't too bad even though they've rarely been contenders, and have never been the top team in the IFL. They share the same 'patrician' attitude that Union Ekren fans have.

Location: East Norgrad, Northwest Endelos
Colors: Blue and gold
Nickname: The Foxes
Stadium: The Den(48,000)
Economic Power: Medium
Manager: Franz Bentsen(46)
Brief Description: The other club in Norgrad is more rich but less patrician, embracing the working class nature of many of the other clubs from around Redvale and the Endelosi islands. This club has stronger ties with Redvale, and is known for signing players from Redvale and also for being the club of ethnic Redvalis living in the Endelosi islands. They haven't been real contenders in awhile, though.

INTERCONTINENTAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE SEASON FIVE, PART ONE

Matchday One
Norgrad FC 0–1 FC Troy
Fjell BK 1–2 Krasberg United
Union Ekren 2–5 Karakosa BK
Helmberg FC 3–2 Karakosa IF

Opening weekend. One of the biggest days in the season for football fans in the Endelosi islands. For Redvali fans waiting for the R League to start back up again, this is an exciting day too. The IFL has produced stars that have later played in Redvale, and opening weekend is often when they grab the attention of the national media and begin their rise to fame. This opening weekend certainly didn't lack action. Karakosa BK opened up the season with a road match in Ekren, and they went down 2-1 at halftime before storming back with four second half goals for the win. Two were from Redvali wonderkid Park Sang Chul, who flicked one shot over the keeper and scored on another shot from range, and the other two were from Nordskanian attacking midfielder Arkadi Zima, who played a false nine role. FC Troy also debuted their star studded lineup in this week, with a front line consisting of young Redvali striker Vic Tanner and newly transferred big name wingers Kai Hoxha and Jesus Gallego. Both are from Anglatia, with Hoxha coming from Valeria and Gallego coming from Territory Nine, and Hoxha was the one to grab the winning goal in the opening match behind Vic Tanner's cross. The 21 year old Gallego, however, was involved in the play too and is proving that he should be reconsidered for national team participation with Anglatia.

Matchday Two
Karakosa BK 3–2 Helmberg FC
Krasberg United 1–2 Union Ekren
FC Troy 2–1 Fjell BK
Inter Norgrad 0–3 Norgrad FC

Another week went by, and there was even more action. KBK left a match late, again, after Arkadi Zima and Piotr Vlasenko combined for two first half goals to bring the Angels into a 2-2 halftime scoreline after wonderkid forward Anas Saed kept Helmberg FC in it with a brace. The Norgrad Derby also happened this week, and Inter showed that they don't have the depth that many projected them to have. Nordskanian forward Alessia del Russo has been carrying them, and she failed to score in their 3-0 home loss to their crosstown enemies. Norgrad FC's Marna Leth bagged her first brace of the year in the win, with Jorg Hoffman curling in a free kick for the last goal. The Trojans also won their second match. Fjell's pressing and work rate makes them a tricky opponent, but Kai Hoxha poached an equalizing goal just after halftime and Jesus Gallego crossed inside to an open Lana Ruiz to win the match late. Rui Conti was angry at his squad for not showing up from the beginning, but said this: "New signings take time to settle in. It's still early... Relax. We're still undefeated and still in first place, there's no reason to panic because of an aberration."

Matchday Three
Fjell BK 4–0 Inter Norgrad
Union Ekren 0–1 FC Troy
Helmberg FC 3–3 Krasberg United
Karakosa IF 2–2 Karakosa BK

Is Inter Norgrad the worst team in the league this season? Despite their talent in the attack, their one dimensional depth has led to them matching up badly against the majority of the league and failing to get results. They got smashed 4-0 on the road in Rone when they had to play Fjell BK, and again, Alessia del Russo was stopped and their whole attack stopped with her. Their fans are patient at least, and manager Franz Bentsen is going to need that famous patience to come through for him. In another match, FC Troy won their third match of the season after Jesus Gallego got his first goal with the club, an impressive 78th minute header off of the cross of Aksel Rasmussen, who is still going at 32 years of age(Endelosi players typically start playing earlier and retire younger than the average). In Karakosa, the crosstown battle between KBK and KIF ended in a draw that was pretty disappointing for the Angels; Piotr Vlasenko and Hans Boe scored for them, and Ante Sindler found his scoring boots again and had both goals for their rival. A draw was the only result that could manage to leave both sides upset, with the two teams both imagining that they would use a win here to propel themselves forward in the league standings.

Matchday Four
Krasberg United 4–5 Karakosa IF
FC Troy 4–4 Helmberg FC
Inter Norgrad 5–1 Union Ekren
Norgrad FC 1–1 Fjell BK

Matchday four featured two of the highest scoring games of the season so far, and one surprising upset. But for the biggest game of the week, let's go to Troy, where local rivals FC Troy and Helmberg FC took each other on in a battle of the second and third most successful Southwest Endelosi clubs. While Troy is known for their 'phalanx' defending, where they compress past a specific line and then aggressively press to defend that line once the ball passes it, this game was exciting because of one thing, the two attacks. Helmberg's Thor Hermanssen was too much of a physical force on the wing for the FC Troy defenders to stop, and he grabbed the opening goal from a solo run on goal from the left wing in a wide position. The impressive foreigners, Jesus Gallego and Kai Hoxha, would lead the Trojans back, though. Hoxha curled a long shot into goal from sixteen yards back, Gallego flicked a ball past a defender before passing the ball off to Rasmussen for the goal. With a 2-2 halftime scoreline, Helmberg looked like they were going to win after Einar Olsen's corner kick header gave them a 3-2 lead in the 60th minute. Their lead was extended when Bjarke Vestergaard found the ball at the edge of the box and put a long shot past Frans Mortensen. The Trojans looked doomed, but Lana Ruiz led them back into contention for a result when she fired off a cross from the midfield that curled inside and was deflected by Olsen for an unfortunate own goal. In extra time, Troy would find the tying goal. Jesus Gallego was one on one with Olsen, and he forced his second big mistake of the match when he cut outside and then back inside and found room for a shot to the keeper's far post. Troy's fans went insane after that, chanting Gallego's name, and the match ended before Helmberg could put the ball back into play, giving the Trojans the unexpected result.

Matchday Five
Union Ekren 0–1 Norgrad FC
Helmberg FC 3–2 Inter Norgrad
Karakosa IF 1–2 FC Troy
Karakosa BK 3–0 Krasberg United

Can the Trojans be stopped? Karakosa IF hosted them at home, and Troy had two goals in the opening minutes. On the first, Kai Hoxha took advantage of a defensive error from Zavier Hernandez and finished on a breakaway chance in the third minute. In the sixteenth, Lana Ruiz shot Jesus Gallego's deflection into the back of the net. Alan Jepsen would pull one back in the eightieth minute to make things interesting, but it would be too little too late for the boys from North Karakosa. Elsewhere, Park Sang Chul had his first professional hat trick as Karakosa BK dominated a pretty good Krasberg United squad that's been uncharacteristically struggling. Through five out of eighteen weeks, Krasberg lies in seventh and only has one win with three losses. Manager Arjen Kuula spoke about this: "I'm taking responsibility for our poor start. We haven't lived up to expectations, but I haven't been doing a good job of motivating the squad. We've dug ourselves into a hole, but expect us to fight like dogs to get back from it."

Jade Cup: Fish move one step closer to historic sweep

FC Maris has a unique chance this season. To sweep every domestic title, from the R League to the RW League to the national cups. FCML and FC Maris are both alive in their respective cups, and FC Maris Ladies was able to come away with the win in the Jade Cup behind tactical mastery from Shay Hara and strong performances from their foreign element. If they can capture all of the titles, it would be the first time in the modern era of Redvali football that a club has reached that level of dominance.

Air Force Women 1-3 FC Maris Ladies
Sporting Women 3-2 Janford Roses

Air Force held home pitch advantage, but that home pitch advantage wasn't too much of a help against the most overwhelming attack in the recent history of the league. AJ Hara has brought the libero position back into fashion in an updated version of Fabien Endrizzi's tactics, Callie Flores has been a lights out defender, Sofia Cruze and Nepharim teenager Livia Hessenthaler have formed a great partnership in the front, and Kylie Calderon has run the midfield as well as anyone. In the semifinals, FC Maris proved to be an immovable object that Brigid Hale's goal couldn't lift Air Force over. Hessenthaler had her first brace with the club, chasing down through balls and bruising her way through the defense on both goals, and the dagger of the match came from Marlene Corredor's scoring free kick.

The other semifinal match was more exciting. Cora Blazen, still angry about being spurned from the youth national team, put the team on her back and played everywhere for Sporting from defensive midfielder to false nine. She ran through the entire defense for the first goal, before juking around the keeper and tapping the ball in, and she also had the game winning goal from a header on Nya Murray's volley. Janford did get two goals, both of them from a red hot Tori Escelara, but her good form wasn't enough to drag an imbalanced team into the final.

Sporting Women 0-1 FC Maris Ladies

This was the fitting way to end the Jade Cup; with a hard fought match in the rain between the Avgarian giants and the flashy squad from Maris. A battle between Wilson Tahiri and Shay Hara, between Cora Blazen and Sofia Cruze, and between Nya Murray and Livia Hessenthaler. Neither side will admit it, but Sporting and Maris have a lot of similarities this season, and it was very fitting for them to meet in the final of the Jade Cup. They didn't have the goals that the earlier matches did, but that wasn't to say that the final wasn't exciting. Both Marlene Corredor and Kylie Calderon had shots saved by the post, and Cora Blazen had a header go just wide. The winner would come late. Cora Blazen was tripped up in the box by Klara Burnham and the referee gave a penalty. That penalty would rocket off of the post and land at the feet of Sofia Cruze, who chipped the ball over the line to give Livia Hessenthaler an eighty third minute breakaway chance. She'd take that chance and finish it on only her second shot of the match, instantly entering the mythos of great FCML players as she clinched the win over their hated enemies with only a few minutes left. When the final whistle blew, the Fish were one more trophy away from having the ultimate success, a sweep of every domestic trophy in the country.

INTERCONTINENTAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE SEASON FIVE: PART TWO

Matchday Six
FC Troy 5–3 Karakosa BK
Inter Norgrad 4–3 Karakosa IF
Norgrad FC 5–3 Helmberg FC
Fjell BK 0–3 Union Ekren

FC Troy vs Karakosa BK was the blockbuster matchup that everyone couldn't wait to see, and the first leg of the season series turned out to be an absolute thriller. Attacking talent came through for both teams as Park Sang Chul and Arkadi Zima dueled with Kai Hoxha and Jesus Gallego, and it seemed that all of the star players showed up in the biggest ways. Piotr Vlasenko kept his good form going by getting two counter attacking goal's in response to Aksel Rasmussen's opener, but the Trojans would strike oncemore before halftime on a brilliant play by Jesus Gallego, when he chipped the ball high into the air for Kai Hoxha to head into goal after an aerial battle with Christian Lygaard. The Angels would get the opening goal of the second half after Arkadi Zima split a double team and then used a sideways pass to Park Sang Chul to set up the wonderkid forward for an easy chance to finish, but the Trojans had more motivation in the later stages of the match. After Lana Ruiz equalized with a breakaway in the 67th minute, Jesus Gallego would score in the 82nd and 88th minutes to secure the win. "He's the best young talent that I've worked with," said Rui Conte in the post match press conference. "It's obvious that he's going to go on to do big things. I'm just glad that he decided to make a stop in Troy before then."

Matchday Seven
Helmberg FC 2–1 Fjell BK
Karakosa IF 0–0 Norgrad FC
Karakosa BK 1–2 Inter Norgrad
Krasberg United 2–2 FC Troy

Inter Norgrad pulled off what seems like a monumental upset after the terrible form that they started with, after a two goal comeback in South Karakosa. The opening goal came from none other than Piotr Vlasenko, but after halftime, Inter started making their push to come back, and they were able to storm all the way back to a win. The first goal came via header from Mikel Sommer, the talented former Krasberg United academy player who has been overlooked recently because of the emergence of Alessia del Russo. Palle Hoj whipped the cross into the box and before Janko Marcssen could deal with it, Sommer connected with the ball and didn't give Lygaard any chance of making a save. On the second goal, Alessia del Russo won the ball in the midfield before taking off and never looking back. She faked a pass to Sommer before charging forward towards goal and placing a left footed shot into the net in the 70th minute. Del Russo's play as of late has gotten her transfer interest from some of the bigger clubs, but she denied that she wants to move: "To be honest, I love it here. I love the club, the staff, the neighborhood. I really don't see myself trading it all in for money."

Meanwhile, the Trojans were finally held up, this time by fierce rivals Krasberg United. They had to play at Krasberg, and despite Krasberg having home pitch advantage, neither side could find an advantage during the match. Rasmussen and Ruiz scored for Troy, and Courtney Koch had her first brace for Krasberg as Ryan Toft assisted her twice. Koch fell to the IFL after not making the cut at the prestigious Janford Roses academy in Redvale, but has done well enough with Inter Norgrad and Krasberg United in her three IFL seasons, including this first one with United.

Matchday Eight
Inter Norgrad 2–4 Krasberg United
Norgrad FC 3–2 Karakosa BK
Fjell BK 1–0 Karakosa IF
Union Ekren 3–1 Helmberg FC

One of the most interesting stories recently has been Helmberg FC's underperformance. They're always a club with big expectations, but they lost 3-1 to a Union Ekren squad that could be considered to be overperforming with wins that they shouldn't really have. Jan Kuula, the son of manager Mario Kuula, has been a revelation for Ekren after they moved him from the midfield to the forward position and started playing him out wide as a wing attacker. If Ekren has an above expected finish this season, it will be behind their youth movement. Kuula scored two goals and the other was scored by Ibe Hemmingsen, but all three goals were assisted by Ross United loan product Kyle Jankovic, another youngster. They may not win the title, but Ekren is definitely one of the most exciting young teams in the IFL right now.

Matchday Nine
Karakosa IF 2–3 Union Ekren
Karakosa BK 3–5 Fjell BK
Krasberg United 4–3 Norgrad FC
FC Troy 3–2 Inter Norgrad

Karakosa IF versus Union Ekren. That's a very interesting matchup. Two young teams, except one is underachieving and the other is overperforming. Ekren got off to a flying start with a 2-0 lead inside of twenty minutes behind one goal from Kyle Jankovic from the free kick spot and another from Ibe Hemmingsen by longshot, but Karakosa IF would pull one back when Goran Fossum wound Ante Sindler on the wing and let the young winger get past the fullback before crossing across the pitch to Alan Jepsen for the shot that would hit the back of the net. They wouldn't be able to do enough for the victory though, and before they could equalize, Jan Kuula would bury them with a longshot from twenty five yards that arched over the keeper.

Meanwhile, Kai Hoxha's hat trick and Alessia del Russo's brace made for an interesting game in Troy, where FC Troy took down the plucky underdogs that had the initial lead. Rui Conti spoke afterwards about the possibility of going undefeated: "I'm sure that [team owner] Gabriella Olson would be happy if we did that. We'll see how it goes. We're not going to go all out to go undefeated at the expense of the health of the squad, but it would be a good accomplishment and I won't rule out anything just yet."

Matchday Ten
FC Troy 0–0 Norgrad FC
Krasberg United 4–2 Fjell BK
Karakosa BK 2–3 Union Ekren
Karakosa IF 6–0 Helmberg FC

The Eagles of Ekren just keep shocking the rest of the league! Jan Kuula stunned Karakosa BK with a first half hat trick using his left foot, right foot, and head in the best looking perfect hat trick that anyone is ever going to see, and Karakosa just couldn't use their attacking firepower to get back into it. They would start the comeback late, but it would be too little too late for them. Park Sang Chul's 83rd minute goal set the stage for Thor Solbakken to score in the 91st, but Piotr Vlasenko's last shot would go wide and they wouldn't get the equalizer... For all their attacking talent, it sure is taking Karakosa a long time to come together to play as a team, and just about everyone is wondering how long the central Endelosi giants will stay down because of this.

Matchday Eleven
Helmberg FC 0–0 Karakosa BK
Union Ekren 3–2 Krasberg United
Fjell BK 2–3 FC Troy
Norgrad FC 3–2 Inter Norgrad

Ekren is turning into one of the stories of the season, as they move up to third and tie Norgrad FC on points, with eighteen. They aren't a team that anyone at all would expect to be in the top three, and especially not over teams such as KBK, KIF, and Krasburg United. The latter was the team that they beat at home to move up, and the stadium was hyped from the start. The fans may have a reputation for being patrician and for caring more about fashion than actually providing top notch support, but they smashed that reputation by turning Blue Gate into one of the league's most intimidating stadiums when KUFC came to town. They went down 2-0, but the second half saw a three goal comeback led by Jan Kuula, who by now is under bid from several larger clubs, and fullback/attacker Jasper Hougaard in addition to Kyle Jankovic. Each of those players scored, and Jankovic was the one to pick up the winning goal when the match was 2-2 in the 80th minute.

"This is a fun group to manage," said Mario Kuula, after the match. "We're proving that you don't need age to win, and you also don't need to be from a working class hub to succeed in this league. Yeah, we're the rich team that cares about swagger in addition to wins, but you don't see that hurting us in the wins column. I'm not making any promises about catching Troy, but this team has enough left in the tank to make a run in the late season and make it into the UICA. You can quote me on that, because it's a promise."

THE 27TH RHL POSTSEASON
After a long season and a hard grind for the Red Shield, only four teams are left standing. Two of them are crosstown rivals, while the other two have been here before and are looking to jump back to glory by taking down a team from the capital. The Hitmen rolled through the regular season as dominant Red Shield winners, taking one hundred and thirty seven points from the season, but the Braves nearly matched their pace with forty two wins and a hundred and thirty five points. Now, the classic rivalry takes another turn; both teams enter the postseason with a chance at meeting in the championship round for the first time ever.

Avgaria Hitmen 3-1 Midland Pilots
Avgaria Hitmen 4-2 Midland Pilots
Midland Pilots 1-0 Avgaria Hitmen
Midland Pilots 1-4 Avgaria Hitmen
Avgaria Hitmen 3-0 Midland Pilots

The Hitmen came in as the top overall seed and didn't disappoint against a Midland team that was looking for playoff success again after a cold run in recent years. They managed to get back to the postseason, but couldn't advance to the championship round as they only took one out of the five games of the seven game series. Johnny Saint Jesus continued to be the unexpected catalyst for the Hitmen offense, using his quick speed and amazing stick skills to set up goals for both him and his teammates. He wasn't the only player to show up big as a star, though. Ray Ellis was the leading scorer during the regular season, and came up clutch as the second leading scorer against the Pilots.

Avgaria Braves 5-0 Janford Surge
Avgaria Braves 2-0 Janford Surge
Janford Surge 2-5 Avgaria Braves
Janford Surge 0-3 Avgaria Braves

The other team from Avgaria, and the league runner ups, outperformed even their best expectations and exposed a Surge team in four games that everyone thought would have a shot to go to the championship round. Apara Montoya, Emilia Priest, and Jonas Vaught de Medio weren't enough to keep a Surge team that turned out to not be too deep from getting crushed. In four games, they were only able to score two goals against a fierce Braves defense that really closed down in the postseason. The matchup for the final was set. Avgarian giant versus Avgarian giant. For the first time, the great rivalry would decide the championship.

Avgaria Hitmen 1-0 Avgaria Braves
Avgaria Braves 3-4 Avgaria Hitmen

The Hitmen captured the 27th RHL Championship with a two game sweep of their crosstown rivals. Enigmatic rookie Johnny Saint Jesus scored the winning goal in game one. On the road, in game two, the Braves jumped out to a 2-0 lead before goals from Ray Ellis and Saint Jesus led them back. During those two games, there were plenty of hard hits and there was plenty of bad blood. But now, the season is finally over, and the one team that was left standing happened to be the boys in black, not the boys in green. The Saint Jesus era has begun in Avgaria, everyone.

OOC Note: I'm dropping the scorinator completely with the RMC and mainly using this to provide background for the WGPC and other RPs right now. Expect to see these results crossposted to WGPC.
RMC 15: Tour di Maris and Janford Derby sees Roja Leo rise

The second race in the Redvali Motor Championship saw two Roja Leo drivers take the podium. Maria Cattaneo picked up her first win in the red and white colors of Roja Leo, and her more experienced teammate Eros Bergmaschi was next to her on the podium at third place. Placed between them and in second place was Jason Yamura, who was on the podium for the second time in two races since joining his hometown team from none other than Roja Leo. This East Marisian race was highly hyped, and it didn't disappoint. Cattaneo was meant to be Yamura's successor, and she battled all night long under the lights with him, with the two of them overtaking each other for first place multiple times.

Chang as a whole and Jason Yamura in particular have been relying on ultra soft tires and good cornering to make the most of those tires without having to use too many pit stops, but Yamura couldn't corner well enough on this track to keep from having to pit twice. That second pit stop, late in the race, was what gave Maria Cattaneo a two second gap on him and the eventual win. That didn't mean that Yamura did bad, however. He had a very good race, qualifying in ninth position and making his way through the field and overtaking several rivals, including Renato Holden and his National Automotive teammate Nic Trentino.
Tour di Maris Podium
1: Maria Cattaneo - 37 points
2: Jason Yamura - 33 points
3: Eros Bergmaschi - 16 points

The series then went into the Janford Derby, and Roja Leo picked up another podium. The Skybrough Raceway track isn't exactly an easy one, with many twists and turns that demand sharp handling, but that played into the strengths of Maria Cattaneo. She finished in second place after a fifth place start, and she finished behind an excellent and in form Yamura who wasn't going to be beat in a track he's dominated in the past. The Janford Racing Company is a decent team that everyone likes because of their underdog status and their small budget, and they did decent. Neil Archer rounded out the podium with a third place finish, after overtaking Renato Holden two laps away from the finish using his DRS. Overall, it was a very exciting race that had a decently exciting finish and saw some of the biggest stars of the country put on a show for the fans with overtakes and tight handling.
Janford Derby
1: Jason Yamura - 58 points
2: Maria Cattaneo - 55 points
3: Neil Archer - 23 points

Formula AAA 15: Olson downforce crushing competition

Formula AAA is the developmental series for the RMC, and the series has produced most of the great Redvali drivers and has also hosted farm teams for the bigger traditional teams like Valle Rojas, Chang, and National Automotive. However, the latest season was expected to be dominated by Olson Motorsports, owned by Olson Industries and their young billionaire owner Gabriella Olson, who also owns FC Troy and has invested heavily into sports. That team is also notably the developmental team of Roja Leo. The series follows the RMC, and the Janford Derby serves as the opener for it instead of the Southern Coast Grand Prix.

And like everyone expected, Olson absolutely crushed the rest of the field, using their new OM35 car for the first time. This car is designed to be an upgrade over the OM34 because of one thing: ground effect. Unlike the OM34, the OM35 has very low side skirts designed to maximize downforce and take full advantage of ground effect, which is a technology that Olson has done much research in. One of their past successful cars, the OM31, had a very low to the ground design, but this new car is the first one to have side skirts and is also much lower than any other car on the grid.

The tinkering in technology paid off, because the Skybrough Formula AAA Race was won by Olson and their second driver managed a second place finish. The other teams expected to contend were Krasberg Motorsports, the Ekren Racing Company, and Janford Automations, but all of these teams were blown out of the water, with Janford Automations coming the closest and still losing via a seven second gap. It's going to be interesting to see if Olson can bring ground effect into fashion with their modern car designs, and whether it causes controversy amongst the other teams. Here's the podium.
Skybrough Formula AAA Race
1: Lauri Maximovic - 25 points
2: Sophia Ruffin - 18 points
3: Jay Marchesi - 15 points

OOC: I know I have a lot of leagues going, but I've basically figured out the structure now. The R League and Division A are my main leagues, and the IFL/EndeLiga have the main purpose of player development. If you were confused about which one is the main one, that's the explanation. This league will also compete in the UICA. Also, please note that ICly this season takes place in between the WC qualifying and the actual WC. Future seasons will be in more detail and the player database will be updated soon.

Anglatian football has been in shambles ever since the IAFF corruption scandal led to the Imperial Superleague being suspended and later dissolved. It was revealed that the multinational structure led to some of the poorer teams from less rich areas of the Empire getting involved in corruption and fixing, and so to solve the problem, the Superleague was broken apart after fifteen odd years of existence. Things went back to the way they were before... With Division A being the domestic competition of Anglatia and no Empire wide competition existing beyond individual tournaments organized by the clubs in the offseason.

Also, as a result of the league being dissolved, every single player in the Superleague was released from their contract. This led to the rosters being reassembled completely, and while there were some players that resigned with the clubs that they played for previously, most of the national teamers have held out and not resigned their contracts immediately. That means this season was played without the usual superstars, but it also means that new stars rose. It was an extremely interesting season for these reasons, and next season should see Division A improve as the top Imperial players on the national team test the transfer market and see if they can get better deals from the Division A clubs or from the foreign market.

Let's look over the table. At the top is AC Lane United, the revived version of Lane United that has only existed for two full seasons. In its second season, however, it mimicked the dominance of the club for which its named after, in its peak. Lane retained the majority of their old squad and dominated with an incredible attack, scoring eighty goals. They're an extremely balanced team and they showed that with their 4-2-3-1 formation and their talent that's spread out through the entire team. That attack that scored eighty goals was spearheaded by eighteen year old Nordskanian-Anglatian forward Jace Votto, who signed a one year contract with the team and scored twenty five goals in twenty seven appearances, and also by twenty five year old winger Matt Henson, who matched Votto's total with twenty five goals. National team started and fellow youth prospect Darren Harbin also signed a one year deal, and appeared in every match for United while scoring five goals and assisting four as a defensive midfielder.

In second place were Lane's hated rivals from Ross, Ross United. The Ross Circus moniker returned to their city after they put on a performance that disappointed the fans, but manager Thane Hull claimed that the fans shouldn't have expected anything else. They won the Superleague three years running before the league's dissolution but then lost every one of their internationals with the exception of Pridnestrovian international Marfa Kirilenko, who resigned for two seasons and started in goal. The highly paid Ross stars weren't going to return and miss their chance to test the open market, after all. Because of that, they relied on academy players and on the replacement level players that were already on their squad. Their top players were all around forward Clay Randle, who scored twenty eight goals, and midfielder Viktor Tomasson, who was one of the players to immediately sign a new contract. Tomasson led the league in assists with twenty one, in addition to appearing in every game. In the back, twenty three year old George Hesperos is emerging as a potential national team option, after leading the team in tackles and aerial battles won.

Rounding out the top three was Bathgate City, who lost most of the star players that they paid 70+ million for a few windows ago. The exceptions were Maura Vera and Juninha, who both stayed to lead the club into the future, and Juninha had a breakout season with 18 goals. Outside of them, Bathgate's attack wasn't as great as it has been in past years, and their poor defending also led to them blowing a number of matches and eventually losing to Ross United in the standings with a six point gap. Still, it's a miracle they were top three at all after not being able to re sign the players they paid so much for. Owner Finn Muerig was allegedly furious at this, but he just couldn't convince the players to come back to a team like his after the dumpster fire that they were in the last season of the Superleague.

In the mid table we see Eastport City and Midhearst Rangers, the two clubs that largely represent Middle Anglatia along with Milton United. The Rangers are a punchy attacking team that can't defend, but that's besides the point. They were exciting to watch, and everyone was happy to see the green and silver team playing in the top tier once again after they couldn't make it into the Superleague. Eastport City doesn't quite have their attack, but has one of the best academies of anywhere in Anglatia... And that was enough to lift them to fourth place. With other teams losing their overpaid stars, Eastport was the team that didn't lose much at all. They brought up even more talent through their academy and were even able to beat Lane United home and away for the first sweep of the Reds in over twenty years.

Further down, the smaller team in Ross saw an interesting rise back to Division A, where they overperformed their expectations by finishing outside of the relegation zone. Unlike their neighbors from the Grove Side, Ross Park has been operating on a shoestring budget and was expected to fight just to stay up. Instead, they got 35 points to finish comfortably in sixth. If you go further below them, you'll find another Western Anglatian club, one that's well liked by everyone for their plucky resilience. Hailing from the mid sized town of Holland, about a half an hour's drive away from Ross, they're a good developmental club that, like Eastport, used that to get an edge over the big teams. They were also expected to fight to avoid relegation, but the good management of them and their academy talent was enough to rescue them from that fate and carry them up the table, giving them a good base to build on after the transfer window.

Bathgate Town was one of the teams that was expected to be in the relegation race, and the minnows from the suburbs of the massive East Anglatian city couldn't be any more different than their neighbors. One hundred thousand people fit into Bathgate City's home arena, the Steelworks. On the other hand, Bathgate Town plays at Iron Lane, a stadium that seats 15,000 and has no seating behind either goal(but there is a terrace behind the south end). Still, they have a strong budget for a team of their size and they were expected to challenge for a UICA spot if things fell their way in other matches. That was how the season started, too. But they got worse as the season went along, and by the time the season ended, Holland and Ross Park were both above them. They also lost 7-0 to their crosstown opponents when they had to visit the Steelworks, which summed up the whole season for them.

Ludlow City and Milton United were in the basement for most of the season and both of them were underperforming squads that will likely be making changes in management soon. Both teams were operating on small budgets, and both frequently suffered bad losses at the hands of bigger clubs. Ludlow, however, showed some fight to pick up results over teams like Bathgate City and Eastport City, while Milton only managed 23 points and lost their second matchup of the season with Ludlow to secure their relegation. They weren't even expected to make it into the new Division A, and they proved exactly why with the performances that they put on this season.

This season was a transition one for sure. The table likely won't look anything like it does now when next season rolls in and the transfer window sees domestic players change teams and foreign players arrive... But for now, Lane United are back. You hear that right. Once again, the Reds rule Anglatia.

Nuevo Constancia: National Overview

One of the newest states to be brought under the coverage is Nuevo Constancia, a socialist republic located in eastern Rushmore, not too far from Vallardes and not too far from where the island of Anglatia is located. Eighty five million Constancians live spread out across what would be considered by many to be a large country, that's a mixture of dense urban areas and rainforests and hills that have low populations and spread out villages. The north of the country is mostly forests, while the east, on the other hand, has mountains and hills. The largest cities are concentrated towards the south and central part of the country, and that's where the largest population density is.

The national capital is Monteverde, a city of eleven million inhabitants, that's located almost directly in the middle of the country. However, Salvador has a population of nine million and Los Blancos has a population of six million. Salvador and Los Blancos are on the eastern and western sides of the country respectively, and are positioned more towards the south than the north. The largest northern city is San Marcos, which is home to four and a half million people. All of these big cities are regional capitals, spaced far away enough from each other to make them good administrative zones.

Most of the cities are very dense and have a lot of people packed into a small amount of space, and there's a massive divide between the rich and the poor. The central and downtown areas in cities are often very affluent, with slums surrounding them and taking up the outer parts of the cities. There's a variety of industries that are big in this country, but as a general rule, the south is more white collared and the middle of the country is more blue collared, with a lot of oil drilling and mining going on. The north has more famlands and has a logging industry, with San Marcos at the head of that. Generally, the biggest mining city is San Marcos and the biggest oil city is Salvador and the surrounding hamlets. Of course, there's still plenty of villages, especially in the outer states.

The government of this country is a socialist republic, but the government is known to be corrupt and has also been accused by international observers of rigging elections every time in favor of the socialist party, which has won the election going back twenty plus times. Even before democracy came to the country, it was socialist and ruled by a military junta. Now, the leader is Chairman Carlos Teixiera, serving his second term after becoming the latest head of the Constancian Socialist Party two terms back. While the country is officially democratic, most international organizations classify it as a dictatorship because of the heavy corruption that leads to actual democracy being ignored.

Because the government doesn't represent regional interests very well, many cartels have risen up and grown from being small operations to large organizations that hold much sway in local communities and protect the interests of those communities in exchange. The Savlador Cartel is believed to be the biggest and most dangerous, and is the one most responsible for the country's exports of hard drugs. After that, the San Marcos Cartel is very powerful, and often offers hired muscle to whoever will pay for it. Rounding out the three power groups is the Los Blancos Cartel, which has its hands in drugs and various legitimate businesses. All three, however, are pretty much involved in every illegal business that there is. Notably, the Salvador based cartels also have a reputation for smuggling weapons and people, likely because of their location in the mountians.

There's rumors of foreign interference with funding these cartels to destabilize the government, but they have been denied... At least officially.

Sports in Nuevo Constancia

As a country with a large rich-poor divide, a lot of Constancians can't really play sports to a high level. Football is popular in the streets because of the way it can be easily played by anyone for a low cost, but the league isn't very good because of the lack of investment and the lack of wealthy owners to put money into the clubs. There's no national team, because the government has never invested enough money into the Constancia Football Association to create one. The most successful and popular club is CD Salvador, but CD San Marcos has also created quite a good team in the northern forests to become the second most successful football club. The capital club, Deportivo Monteverde, is the third most successful club in the country and the second most supported.

Winter sports aren't popular for obvious reasons in this country, but baseball is the other big sport. The country's league is named the Nuevo Constancian Baseball League and is believed by international reports to be a good talent development league, with massive support from the youth level up and support that unites the entire country. The capital dominates in this sport, with the Monteverde Bulls winning the most championships and having the highest winning percentage. But aside from them, the Los Blancos Bats are a popular team and are right behind the Bulls for most titles. The league's players haven't competed internationally, partly because of the strict stances against emigration, but with those stances being loosened up, it's believed that more players will find their way to better leagues and become stars. The government has also finally put in the money to make a national team, to support the effort of increasing the nation's profile in baseball.

College Football: Mount Maris reclaims title in second straight title game visit

Mount Maris Friars 21-3 Red Valley State Wheatshockers
Lazaga State Fighting Tigers 3-6 Castle Valle Rojas Hornets

Ah, college football. The game that unites the country is back again, for a little bit. The biggest of the conferences were decided not long ago, but the playoffs still loomed in the distance. Well, they've arrived, and they set up Mount Maris and Castle in another edition of their rising rivalry, this time in the domestic title game. Mount Maris was led by former Castle coach Francis Allan, the biggest young star in the coaching game, and Castle replaced him with who they think is their next great coach, former Ramusok Capital offensive coordinator Michael Cho. Allan was tasked with bringing the Friars back to their dominant recruiting standards and fixing their broken locker room, while Cho was faced with keeping the RCAA at bay long enough to keep the previous regime's recruiting violations from destroying what they'd build up. Still, both teams survived the regular season and made the playoffs.

Drago Morena returned for the Friars for a fifth season after transferring quarterback Arielle Russey broke her leg last season and was forced to redshirt this season to recover from her injury and learn her new position, and the transfer of Arielle Russey only added fuel to the flames of this now intense rivalry. He threw for all three Mount Maris touchdowns, hitting freshman receiver Eli Desjardins on two of them and throwing a short slant on the goal line to Gerard Lopes on the third. RVSU was pretty outclassed, the the divide between the Super Twelve and the rest of the conferences really showed.

Back on the other side of the rivalry, Castle had to come back from a 3-0 deficit going into the fourth quarter, with the other Russey sister, Amalie, being benched in favor of Cosumarite freshman Peri Fothergill. Fothergill had only made one previous appearance for the Hornets but was able to spark their offense enough with her accurate passing and confidence in her running. She ran for a first down on 3rd down and six yards to go that set up the eventual game winning field goal by Luis Arana, with one and a half minutes left in the game. That would set the Hornets up for yet another meeting with Mount Maris, this time for all the marbles.

Mount Maris Friars 38-10 Castle Valle Rojas Hornets

Sweet revenge. Castle knocked the Friars out of the NSCF playoffs last year and the revenge came in the form of this blowout championship game victory, after Amalie Russey started over Fothergill and then threw for four interceptions while fumbling the ball once. She also threw for no touchdowns, with the only Castle touchdown of the game coming from a sixty one yard run from freshman running back Ryan Helios. Drago Morena, on the other hand, ran the show like some of the great Marisisan shotgun quarterbacks of the past, throwing for four hundred yards and passing for three touchdowns while rushing for one. Of the three, two of them were thrown from outside of the pocket.

It was a chaotic season for both teams, but the Friars will be the ones to come out with a one loss record and another ring... And Francis Allan's big money move to the north turns out to have paid off big time for him. It shows that no matter what happened in NSCF last season, the changing of the guard isn't quite here. For now.

THE BIG FIVE
Football in Nuevo Constancia has been ruled by five clubs dubbed the big five, who have the majority of the titles and the most wins. In addition, these five clubs are very stable. Universidad San Marcos, Deportivo Monteverde, and CA Los Blancos have all never been relegated, while CD San Marcos and CD Salvador have both only been relegated once in their histories and have bounced back immediately with titles on both occasions. Here's what you should know about all of these historic clubs and their fanbases.

CD Salvador
Manager: Manel Morales(48)
Stadium: El Campo de Battala(125,000)
Nickname: Los Diablos
Fans' Nickname: Los Borrachos
Sponsor: Zombie Energy(popular energy drink company)
Rivalries: CD San Marcos(competitive), AS Salvador(local), CA Los Blancos(historical)
Friendships: Tigres de Valle

These guys are the big dogs of Constancian football. They're from the biggest and most glamorous city and have long used that advantage to secure top talents from all over the country. They have the most titles and wins and pull in the highest percentage of revenue from the TV deal, which is invested directly back into the club by business savvy chairman Faro Maia. The fact that they have the best organization and the best location has made them terrifying to rival teams, and they've built up a rabid fanbase throughout the years. Known as the Diablos, Salvador brings an enthusiastic following with them wherever they play, known as Los Borrachos, or The Drunks. They're hated, adored, but never ignored. Their future looks bright too, with increasing revenue and an academy that's stocked with good prospects. Playing style wise, Salvador has always played with grit, hustle, and defense. They don't care how the win looks as long as they're on top in the end.

CD San Marcos
Manager: Paulo Can(42)
Stadium: Estrella del Norte(102,000)
Nickname: Los Aguilas
Fans' Nickname: Los Mineros
Sponsor: Constancia Oil
Rivalries: Universidad San Marcos(local), Deportivo Monteverde(political), CD Salvador(competitive)
Friendships: Atletico Monteverde
The other big fish in the pond are the boys from the north, San Marcos. They've traditionally dominated other northern teams and used their reputation of northern dominance to secure commitments from the best youth prospects in the region, leading to them discovering many hidden gems and bringing them up through their well known youth system. They have an attacking reputation, unlike CD Salvador, and their traditional playing style is marauding and reckless, scoring a lot of goals but also leaving themselves open to conceding. They're widely supported throughout the north, but they make less TV revenue because of their distance from the other big cities and big TV markets. Because of that, they use a lot of advanced scouting and focus on using their money more wisely than other clubs. They also bring fans to wherever they play, and have a strong reputation as a working class mining and logging club. Their fans are referred to as Mineros, or miners.

Deportivo Monteverde
Manager: Tiago Layun(55)
Stadium: Estadio Monteverde(96,000)
Nickname: Las Capitales
Fans' Nickname: Los Rojos
Sponsor: National Foods(state owned food company)
Rivalries: Atletico Monteverde(local), CD San Marcos(political), CA Los Blancos(political), CD Salvador(competitive & political), Tigres de Valle(political)
Friendships: Universidad San Marcos
Deportivo is the largest club from the capital and the third most successful one overall. Their play is somewhere in between Salvador and San Marcos, with traditionally strong midfields and not as good striking as either team. Their support is massive because of their position in the capital, and that position has also given them a reputation as a left wing socialist club that supports the socialist government. That's given them some interesting rivalries, and had also caused accusations that the government helps them through referee decisions, especially over the frontier clubs like CDSM and CDS. Those rumors probably have at least some truth; Monteverde has benefited in the past from dubious decisions, though most of their success has come because they aren't afraid to splash the cash.

CA Los Blancos
Manager: Inti Coh(51)
Stadium: Air Constancia Park(72,000)
Nickname: Los Oros
Fans' Nickname: Los Buscadores
Sponsor: Air Constancia(state owned airline)
Rivalries: Deportivo Monteverde(political), Tigres de Valle(local), CD San Marcos(competitive)
Friendships: Atletico Monteverde
Los Blancos was one of the clubs to dominate the early years of the league, but they burned out quickly after CD San Marcos established themselves in the north and Salvador began aggressively recruiting players to their cause. Still, they're very stable. They've never been relegated, and they've been pretty competitive with the rest of the big five. They share the west with Tigres de Valle and they've been the more successful team in the rivalry. They traditionally play a balanced style that's clinical up front, meaning they've produced players for other clubs. Their academy isn't as great as the rest of the big five, but their partnership with Air Constancia in recent years has given them enough cash to upgrade their squad the other way.

Universidad San Marcos
Manager: Maire Nayal(40)
Stadium: Estadio San Marcos(105,000)
Nickname: Los Halcones
Fans' Nickname: Estudiantes
Sponsor: University of Constancia(largest university in Constancia)
Rivalries: CD San Marcos(local & political), Tigres de Valle(political), CA Los Blancos(political)
Friendships: Deportivo Monteverde
The other big left wing pro government one is the one that was founded by university students many years ago, Universidad San Marcos. Yes, they can barely be considered part of the big five, but they punch above their weight every year and have an exceptional academy, in addition to being one of the clubs that has never been relegated. They've produced both players and managers that have become stars in other places, leading to them having a reputation as a talent factory that can't win, but they're still always a threat. And sometimes, when the stars align, they'll have a team good enough to remind everyone of the old days, the days when they could capture championships and steal cups away from the bigger clubs with far more money.

OOC: Yes, this conference is late, but you'll be seeing plenty of references to it and maybe even a series about it when NSCF comes rolling around.

College football isn't really that popular in Endelos, or at least not played very much, with the exception of two islands. The Eastern Endelosi islands compete in college football in the main Redvali league, but there is one other island that has its own conference to decide the de facto champion of Endelos. This island is known as North Southland, and its a more agrarian and rural island than Redvale or most of the other Endelosi islands are. You can find the biggest cities in Hyden and Tabor, though they aren't truly big cities. No, this is a rural area through and through, with a lot of farms and a lot of small self dependent communities, making this the perfect spot for high school and college football.

Frontier State is one of those rural schools, and they were able to capture another Woods Conference title with a dominant performance that saw them reach eleven wins. The Reapers were led by young coach Will Kits, and interestingly, by Nuevo Constancian quarterback Jani Vargas, who was barely recruited because of playing against poor competition in high school. Still, Vargas came in as a freshman and won the quarterbacking job over sophomore Jenson Marek and then led the team to their conference title while quickly becoming one of the most popular figures on the relatively large campus of Frontier State. Notably, Vargas' older brother is Polo Vargas, the twenty one year old pitcher for Nuevo Constancia's Salvador Tigers, and his aunt on his mother's side is Nelli Gall, a famous player for Salvador CD's women's side, who has over two hundred appearances as an attacking midfielder. The good genes certainly helped Vargas this season, as he threw for more than three thousand yards...
