NOTE: Only post in this thread if you're one of the two hosts or was one of the invited teams.

Welcome to Red Blackiland and Kirishima/Flardania! This is the 63rd edition of the only NS WCC tournament without ranks that is the beginning of the road for most nations that want to participate in the World Cup, a helpful introduction. Nations that will earn their first KPB points as well as a first experience playing against other teams in WCC competitions, that is very important for the success of the team in the future. Past BoF champions have gone on to succeed in the World Cup, and many other nations besides the champion use the tournament as a stepping stone to great success in the World CUp. We hope that all nations enjoy their time here, but only one will be crowned as champion.
This is a thread for posting rosters and RPs (as explained below) for the 63rd Baptism of Fire, and also a place for us to post results. RP Bonus will count for all of the scorination value of this tournament, and while randomness still will be an important factor, RP will be very important in this tournament as well. Those who do RP well will have a better chance of winning the tournament, yet Maggie (the NS Sport goddess of random luck/chance) will still have her fingers in the proceedings. Are you up for the challenge?

New to NS Sports? Here are some tips for you.

First of all, if you are new to the NS Sports forum, you really should read the Guide to Sports Roleplaying. This guide presents you a general idea on what to do and how tournaments in NS Sports work. In case you have any additional questions, feel free to ask on the Discussion Thread (again, linked above) or send one of the hosts a telegram.

Now that you have already taken that step, you should start thinking in a roster for your team. A roster is -in its simplest form- a list of the 11 players in your starting lineup, their positions, manager/head coach, and also the players in your bench or reserves. Some participants often include some other information aimed at enriching the RPing experience and opportunities, for example, additional information on their players, coaching staff, their backgrounds, clubs, style of play, strenghts and weaknesses and anything else deemed to be of interest or anything you want others to know about your team. There is no limit regarding the number of players you can include in your roster, and there's no gender- or species-based restriction of any sort, either, with several past World Cup champions and other established nations currently competing or having competed with all-male, all-female, mixed-gender teams, teams comprised by monks, and also teams made up of elves, sentient bears and ponies, among several others.

Next up, you may want to include a style modifier for your team in your roster. A style modifier is a number ranging from -5 to +5 which will be inputted into the scorinator and will also serve to give others an idea of your style of play. Teams with negative style modifiers tend to be more defense-focused and will concede (on average) fewer goals at the cost of having more trouble at scoring goals. On the other hand, if your team is more offense-focused, then you should choose a positive style mod. Teams that play offensively tend to score more goals on average...but also tend to concede more goals in return. For those of you who would rather a more balanced style, a neutral style mod of 0 is also available. Teams will also be assigned a style mod of 0 if they don't state a style modifier.

Okay, so you already have a list of players and have chosen a style mod for your team. Good. Now pay attention to this part, because this is one of the most important things to include in your roster as it will have an effect on your opponents' RPs. Ladies and gentlemen, now we present to you the RP Permissions Box below.

Image

Code: Select all
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Yes/No
Godmod scoring events: Yes/No
RP injuries to my players: Yes/No
Godmod injuries to my players: Yes/No
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Yes/No
Hand out red cards to my players: Yes/No
Godmod other events: Yes/No

The box above will be the tool enabling you to tell your opponents what you are willing to allow them to do, as well as what you are not allowing them to do. Please copy and paste it somewhere into your roster indicating your preferences as well as any restrictions for every option. Now let's review the meaning of each of these options:

Choose my goalscorers allows your opponents to choose which player(s) score your team's goal(s), should they RP the match before you do. Almost everyone allows this option since the most common form of roleplay in this forum is the traditional match summary/report, and it would be really difficult to write one of those without identifying the goalscorers. Godmod scoring events enables your opponents to RP goals that are scored in an unrealistic way or not likely to happen in reality.

The RP injuries to my players option is pretty self-explanatory: it allows your opponents to injure your players. However, most participants who allow others to injure their players will also set restrictions on the severity and causes of those injuries, thus retaining some extent of control on how badly injured their player is and future consequences and impacts of that injury on their teams. Just like "Godmod scoring events" for unlikely/unrealistic goals, Godmod injuries to my players refers to your opponents RPing injuries on your players but caused in less common and/or unrealistic ways. This option is generally used for more drastic injuries than those of the standard injury option, ranging from rendering your players unable to play the remainder of the tournament, ending their careers, or even killing them. That causes this option to be restricted by most players.

Yellow cards and red cards are an important part of the game, as yellow cards are handed out to players who aren't following the rules of the game as a warning, with red cards being handed out either after a second yellow card or as a result of a particularly severe violation of the rules or unsportsmanlike behaviour. Those players that are shown a red card are sent off the field, forcing their team to continue the remainder of the match with less players. Basically, if you choose "yes" to any or both of those options, you are allowing your opponents to enact such disciplinary actions against your players in their RPs. However, you can also set limits on the number of those cards if your players are less prone to carrying out actions that cause them to be booked and/or sent off.

Finally, Godmod other events refers to other unrealistic and/or unlikely events not related with goals or injuries. This can include from severe weather conditions, events by fans in the stands, to the opening of a portal to another dimension at the center of the pitch in the middle of the match. There are several things that can fall into this option, therefore you might deem it appropriate to set some limits for your opponents.

The Technocracy Reich of Red Blackiland is a nation with over three billion habitants, located on the border of Esportiva. The nation's capital is Blackberry, while its' largest city is Redínxson. Red Blackiland's biggest strength has to be the country's economy, symbolized to being the fastest-growing economy of the region, remaining a largely stable status thanks to its choice of your economy and valorization of your own people, with little bureaucracy and simplified laws regarding commerce, products and pretty much everything that regards the countries' economical frontiers, showing itself as an advanced country regarding the future and commerce, being a country of easy foreign investment. It's famous for its' strong and modern Armed Forces, its' large equipments and its' social projects at colonized countries and neighbors (not inside Esportiva); for its' technological industry who came across several discoveries to facilitate its' society's life, mainly the aged or ill; its' literary industry that certainly makes another step towards growth inside the industrial area and social culture in general and also for its' non-existent crime rates, a result of a strong constitution that tends to give heavy punishment towards criminals and a well-established police. Certainly not without its' beautiful sights, the tourism section wouldn't be as strong. Football-wise, Red Blackiland is a nearly devoted nation when it comes to football, known for its' fanaticism and creativity regarding football..Big part of Red Blackiland Territory has a humid tropical climate , reaching a hot temperatures during the day and warmer temperatures at night , in a stage of the end of the year , rains fall at night because the strong heat in the day.And a few states in South region of the country has a humid subtropical climate , without very cold temperatures but not too hot.Red Blackiland has a average of 669mm ( 29,9 in ) precipitation per year. There are small mountains in North part of the state has a altitude tropical climate , rains fall in summer with warmer temperatures in normal days and a temperature range of 6º C and 8º C.In winter , small frosts occur with frequency , become from cold fronts originally from ocean.A good and fast description is "Where the bright lights of good life quality blink 24 hours a day. A great place to go if you like advertising." All of that with a militarized atmosphere. Also the appresentation of communist symbol on public spaces in Red Blackiland is entirely outlawed,so it's only possible with permission by the justice, police and all administrative organs. Also, Red Blackiland, in our opinion, has the best modern national team ultras and you could see and know more about the group that had interference in some political scenarios in the country.

The Final

Redinxson, one of the cultural and commercial center of the nation and its the capital of Red Blackiland, have important headquarts on the city's territory like GEMIFO,GEHEBE and even Meski. If Redínxson residents could have it their way, the region would also be considered the epicenter of everything in the known universe. Is the largest borough and state of the country, with an estimated population of 30.000.000 divided into three parts that are : Central Redínxson,West Redínxson and East Redínxson (that two regions have your specific soccer clubs, for example),each of the three regions was independent from each other in 60s years, but after a small-medium internal and civil conflicts between these three Redínxson regions, these three regions decided that the best was split these three in only one big and major state, was founded the Unified State of Redínxson,or simply State of Redínxson.About climate, experiences a humid subtropical climate, about religion is totally constitued by non-religion individuals.
Redinxson, today,is the capital of Red Blackiland, substituing Blackberry more later.Have your foundation in the 13th century, was a one of the atheist/skepticism revolution cribs and the born of the growth of medieval empires that more later would turn into a nation, known for its leadership in technology and science, military affairs and equipments, high intelligence agencies and military technologic equipments facilities, music (specially classic music and rock),government, education, museums and nationalism and proud to be a Red Blackilandian.
As RB grow up more and more with time,Redinxson did it too,the leaders made it the center of culture and the arts, as well as the Army.Under the responsability from the first leader of the first medieval empire of Red Blackiland,Thomas Vertzlung I,he thought that for he can build a strong and great nation in hard time,he'll need Redinxson as a strong center with tough defense and bellic power, because of it,your growth was encouraged by his determination to build a great military power and bravure, with the past of the times, with the fact that the Army needed more men,and picked it from small set of islands near these lands with the same ethnity as the old Red Blackilandians.
Half of Redinxson was now mainly a military fort with an armoury, helping some local foundations with the line of prodution of the shields and armored heavily materials, turn this city into a power potency in military equipments production with a new line of gates, swords, shields and other equipments. But not only this, the city was strong and had a commerce/residences part too, became powerful in textiles and clothing (a strong enterprise is responsible for making Dunkelheer,Dunkeluftzweig and Dunkel Kriegewaltmarine uniforms),chemicals, mechnical, with the population growth as the Redinxson territory was anexated to other parts, bureaucracy and military had became bigger and other smaller industries and districts was incorporated to Redinxson activities. But isn't only that,as we said in the previous article,Meskitáh had a hanseatic league with other cities, and one of these is Redinxson, the most famous Meskitáh kontor (kontor means office) from the small region Schautzbuntz, from the central city of Meskitáh had a strong connection with the merchant guilds from Deorihio,in Redinxson and these two made long routs by sea to build strong and big markets, giving profit for the two cities and helping the growth of Red Blackiland into a real nation or empire in medieval times more fast.
With all of the central responsability in Redinxson, became the central of the medieval Red Blackiland, imperial government and the military establishment growned too much, along with the bigger appearences of rich bankers and industrialists. The Reichregierung (the central parliament building) with the central authority was divided in parts, one to took with small crime activities, other with the civil areas of interests like public health care and transportation, other with science advances and technology, one with economy and industries and other with culture incentive. This division helped to generate the fact that sanitary conditions in the city had became too good,at contrary from big part in cities of other countries, improving the working confidence of workers and the growth of production, museums were being built and enlarged and more music was made,a big development of industrial areas and more complex residences with gothic architecture, the government supported classic music shows and operas, building small playhouses through the city. After that,Red Blackiland entered in some big wars and Redinxson was the military center of the country,a true symbol of bravure to the soldiers from the entire country.
In religion,a interesting fact towards this city/state,the only single sights of religion that the country have, are the well-wishing of nordic mithology, specially in few rural small villages inherited by the old small Red Blackilandian islands.
The city's climate is a maritime temperate climate,by your position between rivers, specially the Great Redinxson River, with larger temperature differences during the year.Summers are warm and humid with average high temperatures of 20–24 °C,can low until 14º C,the winters are cool with average high temperatures of 1º C - 3º C can low until -1º C to -3º C.Around of the city, are located low-lying marshy woodlands and forests (one of these went to a patriotic music from the Army) with a series of lakes and great rivers with a little glacial valley and mountains.

The city is considered by have a cultural and artistic splendour, and is a cultural, educational, political and economic center of the country, have a high wealth level, one of the highest in the country, specially in the region of the Mulholland hills like Richman, that haves rich residents on big houses or mansions.Mulholland Hills could actually be considered and symbolized more modern and rich than Richman. This is evident by the types of houses that contrast with each other: Richman having more simple mansions that are less appealing, and Mulholland having more complex houses. Also, the roads in Richman are more simple, rustic asphalt by the tradition, in contrast to Mulholland's more refined, extensive roads.
Mulholland has a long history as the capital and royal residence for kings from the second and the third medieval empire of Red Blackiland, even with the importance of Redinxson and Meskitáh.
The elected ruler of the second old medieval empire of Red Blackiland,Mathias Nithral I (Nithral I) became king of it,by your family was originally born in Mulholland lands,he decided to make Mulholland stronger and tie in importance level with Redinxson and Meskitáh,he gathered many musicians, scientists, architects, rich peoples and nobles, painters, from all over these lands to Mulholland. His reign and leadership marked the beginning of Mulholland growth and emergence to the world,as a international symbol city and leading country's city for technology, arts and philosophy(specially estimulated by music).
During the old times, like in the third empire, became a major center of economy, with the hills beginning to be have some houses and being populated, some industries was turned into powerhouses in Mulholland like food, chemicals, medical equipments, automation.Mulholland have a great military history, one of the official schools for Dunkeluftzweig (Air Force) officials are located in Mulholland, and many barracks of DH (Army) Infantry divisions are located in Mulholland areas,in first war of the country,a facility called Mulkreis was built,a medium district in size with bellic arsenal houses. With the investment and the growth of the state/region by the wealth and rich peoples, today is a city/metropolis/state with many skyscrapers, luxury hills with big houses and mansions, beautiful avenues, shoppings, hotels. The main football team of Mulholland is the Mulholland SK,Carmona's team, that are receiving many invesments from local rich enterprises, the team makes a good local rivalry with Spartak Vantouxé and a smaller derby with El Corona Athletic, but the major rivalry out of the state,is against The Strip.

The Taisuist Republic of Kirishima (Flardania) is an archipelagic nation located in the Auchoi region of Atlas. The nation’s capital is Heiwa and its largest city is Kairaku. The most notable thing about Kirishima is its very high quality of life. This is a result of a strong economy, low crime rate, excellent education, and socially liberal society. The nation benefits from frequent tourism made easy by its efficient railways, historic sites, bustling cities, and vibrant nightlife being among the major draws. The country is also known for having a very technologically advanced infrastructure with one of the world's fastest internet connections with speeds up to 1 Gbps. The climate in Kirishima is temperate with distinct seasons. A notable aspect of the country is its oceanic borders sounded by mist, hence the name Kirishima translating directly to Mist Island or Land of the Hidden Isles indirectly.

When it comes to football, Kirishinans are almost as devoted as they are to the Goddess Kamiya. The sport gets its popularity from the flair and matches can be characterized by the enthusiasm of the fans. Huge banners, anime style pictures of players such as chibi or normalized personality based artwork, organized chanting and singing. It is a sport that both men and women enjoy this usually includes idol halftime performances, gravure idol photo shoots in both domestic and international team as well as many youth leagues in the nation. Some even find the sport artistic and poetic in nature.

It also houses restaurants and bars which are also open during the day when there isn't a match. Akihabara is filled with options. A city with excellent food, festivals, picturesque skyline, piers, massive anime district, fashion district, distinctive blue light district and nightlife. It is also the HQ of many game and Anime studios. -

Imgeum, This city is an emerging city that has been growing in terms of population, wealth, and overall significance. It is serviced by Pyeonghwa International Airport and is located in Habaedo Prefecture on the main island of Honto. Imgeum has a growing financial and commercial center that is directly contributing to its relevance. Imgeum is also home of Dayangseong Stadium, which is where the successful yet unlucky Olympique Imgeum-Si plays. The Pandas have for the past 7 seasons fielded teams with great players earning them many Globe Cup spots but always tragically miss out on a Champion Cup spot. Imgeum is also known as the place where people can start over and make it. Perhaps it’s a matter of time till the Pandas follow suit.

Hyuga, This city may be among the most unique to ever host official WCC sanctioned matches if not the most unique. Hyuga is the only city on the island prefecture of Yamatai and are where the most devout Lake Shorian’s dwell. Men and Women from Yamatai are notably known for being very frisky, so much so that tourist would need to put a lot of effort to resist the charms of Yamatain. While already hosting a Globe Cup regular in Hyuga Valkyrie FC and being of substantial size to host marquee matches, the inclusion of Hyuga for the Baptism of Fire was heavily debated. The reason is for better or worse (depending on who you ask) the rest of the island is on a whole other level in terms of friskiness. There has been foreigners who gone missing in the lush forests with many refusing to return to civilization. However with that said it wouldn’t really be a showcase of Kirishinan culture without the inclusion of Hyuga and its prefecture and the government rather inform more prudish nations rather than not host matches at Forest Park. -

Nabaek, This location is a head scratch for some as it beat out other locations such as Yu Dao, Yurihama, Enrika, Altomare, Brieux, LaRousse, In'eodong, and Tel'Adre. However with the current success of Nabaek Sylph FC and to help increase tourism to the city, Nabaek was chosen. Nabaek is a city that lies on the edge of Kazuyoshi valley in Habaedo Prefecture on the main island of Honto. It is not that that relevant in Kirishima and much less so abroad. However it is a city nonetheless and has things to prevent boredom. Not as strong a nightlife scene as the other cities listed for the BOF. Something that will excite some or disappoint others upon arrival.

The Royal Gadiryan Football Association (RGFA) presents
The Gadiryan National Football Team

Prior to Gadirya's participation in the Campionato, football in this nation was lost in the wilderness. While the World Cup was the most-watched sporting event in the nation, the intolerable dry heat of Gadirya prevented football development as most children and young adults stayed indoors or focused on duties deemed more important than wasting time with football. So for years Gadiryans rooted for any team that was Esportivan, they weeped when Felix lost the World Cup final and cheered when Nephara and United Sunrise Islands won their World Cup titles. King Anwar I, who was educated in Felix and developed a love for football there, realized that Gadiryans loved football and that they needed a national team. In the 5E 230 he set out to establish football in the country first with semi-professional leagues, hiring Felixian coaches to establish coaching academies in all major cities in Gadirya, sending the best coaches to Felix to further their education, building facilities that could host football matches all year, and establishing the Royal Gadiryan Football Association (RGFA) to manage all this. For seven years they waited and watched other Esportivans play and finally in the 5E 237 they participated in their first tournament, the Campionato Esportiva. Nothing was expected from this group of semi-professionals that had jobs in other professions, yet by matchday two the team stood a real chance in qualifying for the Round of 16. But, Gadirya's 1-0 loss to Polkopia in matchday three in the latest edition of the Campionato Esportiva hosted in Tumbra prevented The Royals from advancing to the Round of 16 and broke many hearts in Gadirya, in the stands, and on the pitch itself as players sank to their knees or collapsed on the ground crying. The loss, however, has only stoked the flame within this Gadiryan National team and the Gadiryan team looks to make waves in the Baptism of Fire and hopefully build up on that success from their regional debut and apply that to their first international tournament. For God and Country!

Goalkeepers-
GK #1 Aziz Karim (Starter) {Age: 29} [Al Ahly]
GK #13 Hamed Almasi (Aging Backup) {Age: 33} [Olympique Charmat]
GK #42 Kamuzu Salib (Promising Prospect) {Age: 18} [Al Ahly]

Aziz Karim is currently the starting goalkeeper for the national team and is all around an average keeper. His athleticism is something that is lacking in his game but his determination to stop the ball from going in the net is a trait to be mentioned. He allowed five goals in three matches in his tournament debut in the Campionato Esportiva, but to be fair four of them came from World Cup winner Northern Sunrise Islands and there would've had been more goals had he not got a couple off the line. So for now, Karim is the number one goalkeeper. His backup Hamed Almasi is used for veteran depth and probably shouldn't play, mainly due to his horrible lack of athleticism. Kamuzu Salib is the future of goalkeeping, while he isn't the most talented youngster at goalkeeper in the world for Gadirya, he is certainly a star in the making. He seems to make saves that can't be made in his semi-professional league day in day out and has a bright future in the National Team of Gadirya and many can't wait for him to debut.

Defenders-
RB #12 Lütfü Burakgazi (Starter) {Age: 25} [Olympique Charmat]
CB #3 Hanbal Tuma (Starter) {Age: 28} [Al Taedin]
CB #4 [C] Gérard Calvet (Leader Among Men) {Age: 24} [CA Casablanca]
LB #2 Hamed Amiri (Aging Starter) {Age: 33} [Leidon Ittihad]
RB #15 Hatem Batal (Promising Prospect) {Age: 17} [In Taman Training Centre #2]
CB #27 Güvenç Uzun (Backup) {Age: 29} [Altinspor]
CB #5 Kasto Rahal (Backup) {Age: 26} [Leidon Ittihad]
LB #6 Dominique Beaumanoir (Exciting Prospect) {Age: 18} [CA Casablanca]

Gadiryan defenders are very physical in their play and can probably be beaten technically. That weakness was shown when playing against NSI in the CE. The best starter by far is Gérard Calvet who is also captain of the team. Despite being only 24 his leadership on the pitch is very valuable to the team as he could rally his teammates to perform as best as they possibly can. He is also the most talented defender of this group who has a knack for heading the ball and his passes are used to start counters when Gadirya soaks up pressure. His defending is also solid, but could always be improved as seen when he failed to mark player that scored the winning goal for Polkopia. Two players for the future to look at right now are Hatem Batal who has the potential be an above average defender for Gadirya as his pace and skill at crossing could be used for counter attacks and Dominique Beaumanoir who unlike Hatem Batal, seems to be more complete with a perfect mixture of attributes to make him a balanced defender and attacker, when Hamed Amiri retires, he is certainly going to be his replacement.

Midfielders-
CDM #8 Said El-Amin (Solid Starter) {Age: 30} [Leidon Ittihad]
RCM #14 Jean-Christophe Prudhomme (Aging Starter) {Age: 34} [St Simeon]
LCM #17 Farouk Benita (Exciting Starter) {Age: 17} [Charmat Training Centre #1]
CAM #10 Hikmet Kundakçı (Solid Starter) {Age: 27} [Altinspor]
CDM #28 Sacha Beauvau (Young Backup) {Age: 19} [CA Casablanca]
CM#23 Malik Hadj (Poor Backup) {Age: 22} [Petrosur]
CM #18 Hadi Kartal (Backup) {Age: 28} [Leidon Ittihad]
CAM #22 Gyasi Sleiman (Aging Backup) {Age: 32} [Aslanlar]

The midfielders are average. They aren't amazing, but they aren't terrible. There are two aging players that provide experience but they will soon be replaced by younger talent coming through the ranks. Right now, the brightest spot in Gadirya's midfield is Farouk Benita, a 17-year-old rising star. His pace is solid but it's his way of passing the ball and moving it through the defense where his talent is truely seen. Following the results of the first Campionato Benita has earned the starting spot after some good showings. Said El-Amin is an above average central defensive mid, he can create attacks and he can assist the defense, something you want in a CDM. Hikmet Kundakçı is another above average player, his performance in the Campionato was good as he assisted both goals. Look for him to be feeding the ball to the forwards in the Baptism of Fire.

Forwards-
RS #7 Mustafa Ganim (Creme-de-la-crap) {Age: 25} [Al Ahly]
LS #9 Michel Héroux (Aging Starter) {Age: 32} [Olympique Charmat]
CF #11 Pierre-Louis Le Tonnelier (Exciting Prospect) {Age: 16} [Casablanca Training Centre #1]
RS #16 Darwishi Tannous (Backup) {Age: 23} [Leidon Ittihad]

No one is really sure why Mustafa Ganim is constant starter, but he plays nonetheless. Many Gadiryan fans attribute him to the loss against Polkopia as he could've scored twice but overshot both clear attempts at goal. While Gadiryans hate their #7, they love their #11 because the "Future of Gadiryan Forwards", Pierre-Louis Le Tonnelier, is wearing it that number. He is blessed with speed and technical ability. That talent was harnessed by the RGFA as their training camps began to produce National Team talent year in year out with Le Tonnelier becoming their poster child for success. Darwishi Tannous and his skill set is a good backup for when Michel Héroux finally tires out. Héroux, will most likely retire from National Team play following the end of the Baptism of Fire.

Manager-
Ali Tahan {Age: 42}

Tahan is the first Gadiryan manager to graduate from the elite Felixian coaching schools and because of that the RGFA hired him to be the first manager of the Gadiryan NT. He likes a more conservative team philosophy as he prefers to defend well than attack too much and have an exposed defense. He likes to counter attack with pace and makes it a point for his attacking players to play on the line at all costs in order to achieve an attack that won't be cancelled out due to an offside call. Tahan's record so far is one victory and two defeats and one tournament outing that ended in a group stage finish. He has publicly said that he wants his team to make it as far as they possibly can in the Baptism of Fire and said that if Gadirya does not make it out of the group stage he will resign as NT manager. To say he set the bar for what he expects from his team is an understatement.

Assistant Manager-
Süleyman Değirmenci {Age: 44}

Code: Select all
I Give My Opponent Permission To:
=================================
Choose My Goalscorers: Yes
Godmod Goalscoring Events: Yes, but keep it real. Gadirya plays scrappy, defensive football so expect goals come from either set pieces or counterattacks after soaking up a lot of pressure from the oppenent.
Injure Players: Yes (just TG me details before you post)
Godmod Injury Events: Yes (see above)
Red Card Players: Yes (minimum 2 in a match)
Yellow Card Players: Yes (as long as you can explain how they got it as many as you want)
Godmod Other Events: I rather keep it real but if you wanna go wild, just TG your idea

Suggestions for RPing Matches:

Most Likely to Score Goals in Open Play: Anyone (with forwards having a higher chance)
Most Likely to Score Goals on Set Pieces (via headers, usually): Said El-Amin and Gérard Calvet
Most Likely to Score Goals from Free Kicks: Farouk Benita
Most Likely to Provide Assists: Hikmet Kundakçı
Most Likely to Miss an Open Look: Mustafa Ganim
Most Likely to be an Impact Substitute: Pierre-Louis Le Tonnelie and Dominique Beaumanoir
Most Likely to Get Carded: Hamed Amiri (since he is aging as a player and his speed is reduced and if caught off guard will desperately slide tackle)
Most Likely to Injure: Jean-Christophe Prudhomme
Most Likely to Setup a Counterattack: Gérard Calvet and Farouk Benita

Gadirya loves to play quick, counterattacking football. If you are an attacking team Gadirya will soak up the pressure and so soon as your team makes a mistake or an attempt is blocked, Calvet or Benita will heave the ball to any open players and commit players forward. If you are a defending team Gadirya will play slow pragmatic football as they will take their time to break you down. Set pieces will be a source of goals for this Gadiryan team so expect them to try and force a corner instead of taking a chance to cross the ball into the box from the wings.

Reviewing the Objectives Set for the Royal Gadiryan Football Association: 5E 230-237 and Planning the Next 7 Year Plan

As we draw closer and closer to the start of the Baptism of Fire I feel like it is very important to review the objectives set for the Royal Gadiryan Football Association seven years ago. We must analyze the results and see what improvements can be done for the next 7 year period. The objectives set by the Royal Gadiryan Football Association are as follows:

* Establish multiple semi-professional leagues across the Kingdom: COMPLETED
* Develop a sufficient pool of local coaches via Felixian training: COMPLETED
* Establish training centres across the Kingdom: COMPLETED
* Develop homegrown talent with Felixian trained coaches: IN PROGRESS
* Establish a professional league by year seven: IN PROGRESS [COMPLETION DATE: 5E 238]
* Send Gadirya to an international tournament by year seven: COMPLETED
* Win at least one international match: COMPLETED
* Build a national stadium: IN PROGRESS [COMPLETION DATE: 5E 238]
* Build city stadiums: IN PROGRESS [COMPLETION DATE: 5E 238]
* Send at least two players abroad: OBJECTIVE CANCELLED, UNDER REVIEW

As you may well read we have completed a little over half of our goals in a seven year period and are on track to finish another three by next year. Our first objective was to establish semi-professional leagues all over the major cities in Gadirya and the RGFA feels like this goal has been successfully completed. The RGFA has founded leagues that have been playing during Gadiryan winters, where the average temperatures are in the high 80s and the sun is much weaker. These semi-professional leagues have established a local interest in football and we believe will lay the perfect foundation for the professional league pyramid that replace these isolated city leagues. The play has also given a chance for rival training centres to test out their methods and find out which method worked and which didn't, helping us figure out the best way to enhance growth in Gadiryan football.

The next objective was to develop a pool of coaches thanks in part by Felixian trainers and elite coaching academies scattered across Felix. While the breakup of Felix and the political discord that followed hampered our efforts, we still managed to fill our quota of 60 trained coaches with a surplus of 2, giving us a total of 62 certified coaches at our disposal. Our brightest coaching prospect is currently the manager of the Gadiryan National Team, Ali Tahan. So far he has a victory and two defeats to his name, while that isn't a sterling start to a international career to many by our standards is a base for growth in the future, hopefully the Baptism of Fire will give Mr. Tahan a more positive record and we can further see the fruits of our labour.

On the subject of development our next objective was to establish footballing training centres across Gadirya. Thanks to generous funding allocated to the Ministry of Sport and Culture which then funded the RGFA, we managed to build at least 3 training centres in every major city in Gadirya with our biggest city and capital, Charmat having 6 built. In total we built 48 training centres across the nation. The training centres are equipted with 8 3G pitches per training centre, a weight room, a swimming pool, rehab and recovery centre, running track the whole facility itself, and stands in one of the pitches (usually the one in the middle) reserved for centre friendlies between squads. Each facility hosts at least one of the Felixian trained Gadiryan coaches plus numerous other foreign coaches that have decided to lend their hand in the building of this football programme.

Over the last five or six years the training centres have managed bring in up and coming talent from across Gadirya. With the youngsters that started training with our programme a total of 9 of them made it to the national team with another dozen of them waiting in line to be called up to the national team. Our training centre started to take in footballing talents starting from the young age of 5 till 19 and is continuously churning out players, whether or not they are quality is something to be decided after another 7 year review in 5E 245. Our brightest prospects developed from our training centres include a goalkeeper by the name of Kamuzu Salib from the captial Charmat, Gérard Calvet a centre back from Casablanca who is captain of the team, right back Hatem Batal from Charmat, left back Dominique Beaumanoir from Casablanca, central midfielder Farouk Benita from Hosmundi, and a striker by the name of Pierre-Louis Le Tonnelier from Casablanca. All these players will be in our priority review list when the next review of Gadiryan football comes out in 5E 245.

With the training centres producing players and the semi-professional leagues attracting average people to play the sport it would only make sense to finally establish a professional league for Gadirya. The Ministry of Sport and Culture gave me and my RGFA a deadline to establish a professional league capable of sending clubs to UICA sponsored tournaments, CEdC by 5E 238 and I am proud to say that we will meet that goal following the completion of the first Coupe de la Monarchie at the end of the 5E 237 that will determine the tiers of Gadiryan football. The concept of this special first edition of the Coupe de la Monarchie is to get all the eligible (32 max) semi-professional clubs in Gadirya a chance to make it to the soon to be established Ligue Élite. The top 16 finishing clubs in the Coupe will be in the Ligue Élite and the next 16 in the second division. We aren't sure how deep our league pyramid will go but it is estimated it will be at least 2 tiers deep.

These two objectives we set up go hand and hand as Gadirya signed up for the Campionato Esportiva and while being eliminated in the Group Stage managed to snag a victory. Completing these two objectives in one go justifies tougher objectives that will put out at the end of this email. I believe because of this we should set our aims in the upcoming Baptism of Fire high.

In regards to our stadium goals I believe we are on pace to complete these goals once the World Cup Qualifiers start in 5E 238. Construction has gone smoothly with the occasional sandstorm hampering our work. But I am glad to report that our construction of the national stadium, which has yet to be named pending an official poll, is almost done and should be finished by the end of the year 5E 237. Which would put us ahead of schedule. Stadiums in Casablanca, Altintop, Saryeh, Majdal, and Jaalbeck should be finished by early 5E 238 and stadiums in El Main, In Taman, the two Oasis settlements, Arreridj and Qadir, Balbay, Leidon, and Hosmundi by Spring 5E 238.

The last objective set out for the RGFA was, to be totally honest, a bit too ambitious. The objective agreed was to send at least one player abroad by 5E 237 and while we have developed some talented young players, Gadirya is just too young as a professional footalling nation to have their players be in demand by the world transfer market. Perhaps this goal can be used in the next 7 year plan. For now, we at the RGFA will not count this as a failure but instead as an objective subject to review. A review, I believe, will echo what I just said.

Now here are the suggested goals for the Royal Gadiryan Football Association for the next 7 years, notice this current list of objectives are subject to change following the completion of the Baptism of Fire:

* Make it to the Semifinals of the BoF
* Establish a U-21 team
* Qualify for the Group Stage of the World Cup by the third edition in
* Qualify for the Cup of Harmony at least once in the first 3 editions
* Be in the Top 50 nations by the end of the third World Cup cycle Gadirya participates in
* Make it past the Group Stage in the Campionato Esportiva at least twice in the next three editions
* Make it past the Group Stage in the U-21 World Cup at least twice in the next three editions
* Have at least one club qualify for the Group Stage of any UICA affiliated tournament in the next three editions
* Have at least one club make it past the Group Stage in the CEdC in the next three editions
* Have a record of over .500 by 5E 245
* Develop homegrown talent with professional clubs along with training centres
* Send at least 3 players players abroad by the end of the first World Cup cycle Gadirya participates in
* Expand Gadiryan League system by at least 2 more divisions

I firmly believe we can achieve most of these objectives by 5E 245 considering how much success we have had as a nation the first 7 year plan we implemented. Again, I would like to note that the objectives set above are not final and are subject to change by either myself, the Committee of Development in the Royal Gadiryan Football Association, the Minister of Sport and Culture, and of course our King, Anwar I.

For God and Country!

Faraj Nurulla, President of the Royal Gadiryan Football Association

Technotica Incorporated

Postby Technotica Incorporated » Tue Sep 06, 2016 7:41 pm

As of this moment, it seems that Technotica Incorporated has a war brewing up, first shots have been already fired by a hidden group only known as the Immortalis. Therefore, the government of Technotica Incorporated could not spare the resources and time to re-evaluate the former Mechadrags and replace members as they saw fit. Since the re-evaluation could not happen, the same roster of players have been sent to represent the esteemed nation in the Baptism of Fire. Adjustments for the World Cup is being considered.

That being said, Technotica Incorporated proudly represents their team, the Mechadrags.

Manager

Toto Nagu (age 55)
This is Toto Nagu's 10th year with these players and has been part of the national team for a long time and has created strong bonds and friendships with each and every one of these Players. Rogers is a benevolent, but strict coach. He makes sure to keep the boys in line and is very harsh when handing out punishments.

------------------------------

Starters

1. Jamlai (GK/ age 26) Captain
Jamalai has been considered a very talented goalkeeper, but his rise to the National Team was extremely quick and has been with the national side for 10 years. He is a dedicated keeper, humble and efficient. Outside the field, Portrey enjoys spending time with his wife.

2. Rakasa (CB/ age 24)
Lawson is an incredibly smart defender. He is able to spot plays developing, and he puts himself in a perfect position to make a stop. He has developed a reputation for playing his best against the toughest of opponents. Lawson is never afraid of a good fight and will always stand up for what is right.

3. Hyrax Zomba (CB/ age 25)
Hyrax has built a reputation as a quick thinking defender. Hyrax is able to distribute the ball quickly out of his third of the field and get the ball up to the strikers. He also lead the league in assists last season.

4. Tyler Hill (RB/ age 22)
Right full back seems to be hills position, although sometimes Hill finds difficulties in controlling the ball in the opponent's third of the field. But his talent in crossing and in making solo runs compensates this fact. It is almost sure that Hill is the fastest-developing player of this squad. Off the field he is seen studying for college and training.

5. Dallin Jacobs (LB/ age 23)
A smart player, Jacobs is a player that loves to go to move with the ball, and is good in dribbling and excellent at passing. Unfortunately, Jacobs is not all that fast but, no one is perfect. Outside the field you can find him working out at a gym or dating.

6. Ukle Rasmussen (CM/ age 27)
Rasmussen is a very competitive player. He always has to win and demands a lot out of his teammates. Rasmussen is known for his terrific crosses and does his best to create goal scoring opportunities for his teammates.

7. Rofojo Churilla (CM/ age 28)
Churilla is one of the kindest people you will ever meet off the field, but when he is on the field, you do not want to get on his bad side. Churilla has been very accurate with his passes and crosses lately so coach Toto decided to give him a chance with taking the free kicks.

8. Treysok Parkinson (LM/ age 25)
Parkinson has not had the easiest life. When he was eight his parents divorced and his father got custody over him. His mother died in a car crash two months later. Even though he had a difficult start to his life, that didn't stop him. He practiced and worked hard almost every day and finally his dream has come true.

9. Kinyonia Colmere (RM/ age 26)
No one knew that Colmere was going to be called for the National Team. Colmere acts as if he is lazy but he is quite the opposite. He doesn’t create tons of moves or assists, but will certainly score if the opportunity appears. Surprisingly, he is also pretty good in giving defensive support to the team, helping whenever needed. And he is also good at diving too, surely a helpful talent.

10. Jacob Twitchell (RF/ age 24)
Since his infancy, Twitchell has been taught how to be a better soccer player and a better teammate by his father who was a Golden league champion. Whenever coach Toto gives out assignments, you can count on him to be the first one to do it.

11. Cole Spencer (LF/ age 22)
Spencer is really a promising player, but one who will have problems in entering the team who play with different strategies than his club team. Spencer doesn't see much playing time but he surely will get many chances in the future.

------------------------------

Substitutes

1. Weston Dah (RB/ age 21)
Dah is a new edition to the National Team this year after being nominated as rookie of the year for his club team. Dah loves his soccer moves, especially his step over hook. Dah was originally a midfielder but was transferred to defense after lack of defensive players.

2. Daniel Taylor (LB/ age 25)
Taylor is often seen as just a hard-working player, one who can shine thanks to dedication and team work. But there is more in this player. Taylor is brilliant in understanding tactics and in field vision, being able to instantly notice the better way and place to put a pass. It is rare for Taylor to score a goal, but fairly common to see he involved in one.

3. Brennan Brown (CM/ age 24)
Surely one of the most devoted players on the team, one that plays without any other worries during the ninety minutes. Taylor is a true midfielder, who rarely goes to the attack, and tireless when marking.

4. Sawyer Olsen (LM/ age 16)
Olsen is the youngest players on the team but certainly not the worst. People have always told him that he was too young to play on the National Team but Olsen made them eat their words. He is now the back up midfielder for Parkinson.

5. Crawfo Hathaman (RM/ age 23)
Hathaman is obsessed with his soccer moves. He uses a different move on almost every defender who gets in his way and always finds a way to get to the goal. He is very cocky but his teammates do their best to keep him in check.

5. Conner Humphrey (LF/ age 26)
A player with practically no weakness, but no real strong points either. Humphrey knows how to do a bit of everything. He can head well, shoot, dribble, pass, finish, and even tackle. But doesn’t shine in any of these areas. But, due to being such a complete player, he turns out to be a very talented one.

6. James Afran (RF/ age 21)
Afran was originally a midfielder but was put out of his position as he possesed the skills of a forward winger. Since then, Young has been working hard to learn everything he needs to know about his new position and is looking forward to time on the field

------------------------------

Coach

Marc Rogers (age 42)
This is Marc Roger's first year with these boys but he has already created strong bonds and friendships with each and every one of these boys. Rogers is a benevolent, but strict coach. He makes sure to keep the boys in line and is not afraid to hand out punishments.

------------------------------

Starters

1. Conner Portrey (GK/ age 26)
Portrey has been considered a very talented goalkeeper, but his rise to the National Team was extremely quick and surprising. He is a dedicated keeper, humble and efficient. Outside the field, Portrey enjoys spending time with his wife.

2. Skyler Lawson (CB/ age 24)
Lawson is an incredibly smart defender. He is able to spot plays developing, and he puts himself in a perfect position to make a stop. He has developed a reputation for playing his best against the toughest of opponents. Lawson is never afraid of a good fight and will always stand up for what is right.

3. Nate Smart (CB/ age 25)
Smart has built a reputation as a quick thinking defender. Smart is able to distribute the ball quickly out of his third of the field and get the ball up to the strikers. He also lead the league in assists last season.

Qasden @ WC76 Qualifiers
Image

After a decently successful campaign at the BoF, the Qasden Vans are prepped up and ready for their international debut in the World Cup Qualifiers. After being drawn into the fifth group, the Qads will have a tough armada of nations to tackle to achieve something like Bonesea achieved, but TQ can do practically anything with surprises. Can Qasden qualify for the finals in Electrum and Ceni? Or will Group 5 prove too much for a starter pack. This is the time, so stay tuned for our reports of the WC76 Qualifiers!

First XI Bio:

GK: Jovan Petrovic

DoB: 16/8/1979

Origin: Volstoy district of Luxemburg-Stadt, Central Vonlenska (capital city)

Club: Luxemburg FC

Bio: Was born to a peasant family in the poorest district of capital city, Luxemburg-Stadt. From the age of 9 it was clear that he had great skill playing football. During his teenage years he played as a central defender, but gradually became aware during training sessions that he had an even greater talent as a goalkeeper. At a local club match for the Volstoy Park youth team, he was watched by scouts for Division 2 side Loznica FC. He made his first team debut for Loznica at the age of 18 and found his way to the position as regular goalkeeper at the age of 22. His astonishing clean sheet record (32 in 46 Div.2 games) was quoted as being the main reason why his team were promoted while he was still just 23. After a hard-fought season in the top division, unfortunately his team were relegated. But his journey in the premier league didn't stop there. His efforts were not looked over and he found himself signing for Division 1 champions Luxemburg FC where he was installed as a back-up goalkeeper. When Petrovic was 25 years old, Luxemburg's No. 1 goalkeeper Andreas Lukovic managed to receive a broken leg during a one-on-one incident in a game. This opened up an opportunity to display his matchday quality. He performed well for the next few months and consequently replaced Lukovic and the following season was given the #1 shirt to wear. Ever since he has been the Division's most celebrated goalkeeper and has been a member of the national team since he was 26. Now at 31 he is still determined to keep playing for years to come. He has a total of 75 caps.

DL: Vladimir Jovanovic:

DoB: 13/3/1985

Origin: Sombor, North Vonlenska

Club: Dynamo Lajkovac

Bio: Was born in Sombor in North Vonlenska, but at the age of 7 his family moved out to the countryside to pursue a life of farming. The many fields that his family owned provided a perfect place for Vladimir Jovanovic to practice his love of football. He enrolled in the Sombor Athletik youth academy when he was 12 and stayed there until he graduated to the first team when he was 18. He enjoyed 6 years at the club and led the club to Division 1 glory on one occasion, but in 2009 a new manager arrived who took an instant dislike to Vladimir. Vladimir felt a mutual dislike and so handed in a transfer request and was cheaply snapped up by his current club, Dynamo Lajkovac where he has performed well up to the current day. He made his international debut when he was 22 and has a total of 49 caps and 3 goals.

DC: Nikola Popovic:

DoB: 01/2/1977

Origin: Luxemburg-Stadt, Central Vonlenska (capital city)

Club: Uppsala FC (Sweden)

Bio: Nikola was spotted at a local sunday league fixture by a Luxemburg FC scout when he was 13. He was taken to the youth academy there, but at the age of 14 was convicted of attempted manslaughter and sent to a juvenile detention centre until he was 18. While inside he maintained his talent and regularly turned out for the prison's football team as part of his rehabilitation program. He played for small stints at Luxemburg FC, Lokomotiv Mrdenovac, Magdeburg FC and Dynamo Lajkovac but gained a nationwide reputation for falling out with managers and a slightly dirty style of play. Because of this, he decided that a move abroad would be beneficial and so has ended up at Uppsala FC in Sweden for the past 7 years where he has been a leading star in the Swedish premier league. He has only made 14 caps for Vonlenska, but has impressed manager Alex Thompson enough for him to be included in Vonlenska's world cup starting XI. But fans and coaching staff are slightly concerned about the possibility of a rage-fuelled challenge that could result in a suspension. He has never scored for Vonlenska

DC: Goran Nikolic:

DoB: 17/6/1983

Origin: Mrdenovac, South Vonlenska

Club: Lokomotiv Mrdenovac

Bio: He applied to join the Lokomotiv Mrdenovac youth academy when he was 15 years of age. He was accepted into the academy and displayed such a high level of talent that he was brought to the manager's attention when he was just 16. He was promoted to the reserve team and made his debut 2 months before he turned 17. At the age of 18 he took the place of a transferred centre back in the first team and has been a regular first team player ever since. Even after 13 years at the club, he sees no reason why he would ever want to leave, as he is the longest serving player at the club and so has become a fan favourite. He made his international debut at the age of 19 and has since acquired 87 caps for Vonlenska and has scored 7 times.

DR: Marko Vilotic:

DoB: 04/5/1987

Origin: Pilatovici, South West Vonlenska.

Club: Luxemburg FC

Bio: Marko grew up in a small town called Pilatovici in the South West of Vonlenska. He was captain of his school team and local youth team as a child and when he was 16 he began playing for Division 3 team Pilatovici FC. He stayed there until he was 18 when he was signed by Luxemburg FC for £3,500,000 as he was a well known young talent. His skills developed massively while he was at Luxemburg FC and was put into the first team in 2007 when he was 24. He made his debut for Vonlenska only this year and impressed Alex Thompson throughout the qualifying tournament to earn his place in the Vonlenskan starting XI. He has only made 11 caps for the country and scored once.

ML: Aleksandr Saranov:

DoB: 28/6/1991

Origin: Luxemburg-Stadt

Club : Luxemburg FC

Bio: He was signed up for the Luxemburg FC youth academy when he was only 9 years old. He progressed at a very fast rate and was put into the Senior Reserve team when he was still 14. He made his first team debut when he was 15 years old and took a regular place in the team when he was 16. He is Vonlenska's most celebrated young talent and at the age of 20 he is already the leading star for Luxemburg FC and the Vonlenskan national team. He has been Luxemburg FC's 2nd top goalscorer for the last 3 seasons and Vonlenska's 2nd top goalscorer during the qualifying round despite being a left midfielder! He is widely tipped to be one of the national team's top goalscorers for this competition. He has made 20 caps for Vonlenska and scored 12 goals during this time.

CAM: Miroslav Ilic:

DoB: 18/9/1985

Origin: Tuzla, East Vonlenska

Club: Charleroi FC (Belgium)

Bio: Miroslav grew up in the small town of Tuzla and joined their Division 2 team at the age of 17. When he was 22 he decided that to broaden his career he would require a move abroad and so joined Charleroi FC, a Premier Division team in Belgium for a sum of £950,000. He has progressed magnificently since joining Charleroi and caught the eye of manager Alex Thompson in a recent game for his club and also played a solid qualifying campaign and finds himself in the central attacking midfielder position of the starting XI for the world cup. He has made 15 caps for Vonlenska and scored 6 times in total.

DMC: Radomir Miric:

DoB: 21/1/1984

Origin: Luxemburg-Stadt

Club: Sombor Athletik

Bio: Radomir is son of legendary Vonlenskan striker Miria Androvic who is the most capped Vonlenskan player of all time (he was capped 131 times). Because of this, Radomir was almost forced into a life of sport and was signed by Luxemburg FC from his local non-league club. He didn't impress at the club and after one season made a move to his current club Sombor Athletik where he has enjoyed a much more productive career. He has made 29 caps for Vonlenska and scored twice.

MR: Ljubomir Mrdakovic:

DoB: 14/7/1990

Origin: Mrdenovac, South Vonlenska

Club: Lokomotiv Mrdenovac

Bio: Also born to a professional footballer, Alek Mrdakovic, who played 20 times for Vonlenska and played, as his son does, for Lokomotiv Mrdenovac. Ljubomir has been at the club since he was 14 years old and is one of the club's most important players. He is the fastest member of the Vonlenskan world cup squad with a 100m sprint time of 10.4 seconds. He has played 22 times for Vonlenska and scored 5 times.

ST: Todor Kuzmanovic:

DoB: 30/3/1987

Origin: Luxemburg-Stadt

Club: Luxemburg FC

Bio: Todor is the team's top goalscorer with 36 goals in 52 games. He is expected to continue his goalscoring form throughout the competition and end with Vonlenska's golden boot award. He was signed by Luxemburg FC at the age of 17 after scoring 65 goals in a season of 46 games for Division 3 team Lokomotiv Vrbas. While not scoring quite so many goals for the Division 1 champions, he has been top goalscorer for the team and division for the past 4 seasons and is truly one of the national team's main talents.

ST: Slobodan Kolarov:

DoB: 23/3/1987

Origin: Manaus, Brazil

Club: Magdeburg FC

Bio: Slobodan was born to Vonlenskan parents who had emigrated to Manaus in Brazil two years before they had their first child. Slobodan grew up there and as a result has learnt his football from players who have the most flair of anyone in the world. He is Vonlenska's most skilful player and can pull off a whole variety of tricks to show off to and entertain the crowd. He first started playing professional football in Brazil, but with the death of his parents decided to move back to his true home with his other family in Magdeburg, where he continued his career. He has played 43 times for Vonlenska and scored 20 times.

The March for Resistance

Outside the city of Climax, S. Legalese

The local regiment of the Southern Legalese National Defense Force, a group of about 150 men armed with AR-15s locally made before the 1978-1984 War which their fathers fought against the occupiers (West Guiana) of their birthright land. The people of Southern Legalese see the land to which lays with-in the border of West Guiana as their birthright and fully believe that the West Guianans have no right to live or cultivate the land. This feud has gone back since the foundation of West Guiana in 1932 in which the native Legalite people in the north of the country demanded that the world refuse to recognize the new nation to no avail.

Between 1934 and 1977 tensions between the Southern Legalites and the West Guianans remained remained tense, but in the city of Addford a influx of West Guianans had brought everything to a boiling point in late 1977. On the evening of October 17th a group of some 1,900 S. Legalites marched towards a neighbourhood that was home to some 2,000 West Guianas and just before 11 pm, they started to light the houses on fire and when ever any of the occupants tried to escape members of the crowd would throw rocks or bottles at them until they were forced back in. However this only worked a few times, others that ran were caught and beaten severely while several died from their injuries. That night all 700 homes were burned to the ground and 459 people died, all Guianans. The night was called the Night of Hellfire by the Legalites in Addford, while everyone else in West Guiana called it the Night of Terror. The response by the government of West Guiana was quick and by the evening of October 18th, one day later the city of Addford was now home to 10,000 West Guianan troops.

1977 was also the Presidential elections for the Southern Legalese and one candidate was going to win everyone knew so even in Gemsbrook the capital of West Guiana, he name was Dannie Lugwig, of the Nationalist Party. He was running on the platform that all his fellow countrymens problems were because of the occupiers and that they can never be free because of the occupiers illegal meddling of their internal affairs. Ludwig would go on to win the election garnering almost 87% of the vote, and once in office he continued his rhetoric, but only increasing the veracity of it which in turned riled the people up.

It was almost certain by 1978 that something would happen that would cause a break in the 47 year long peace and that something was an incident in Addford. On June 7, a group a troublesome teenagers were messing around the Square of Freedom which was across the street from the WG Army HQ in Southern Legalese. This group had with them a backpack full of fireworks, well they thought it would be fun to light a few off in the direct of the WG HQ. The third one that was lite off hit a window on the top floor and went through it, hitting a box of ammunition. The explosion that followed rocked the square and killed 7 WG army men who were on the roof instantly. Those on the ground floor reacted thinking that it was a deliberate attack and started to shoot at the teenagers, killing all but two.
The reaction by the people of Southern Legalese and President Ludwig was quick and and deadly. That next night at WG Base Camp three near the capital of Legalese City, several groups of men armed with AK-47s stormed the base and by night's end the base was under the control of Southern Legalese along with all the weaponry. The some 800 men stationed there become the first West Guianan POWs of the long war. The war finally ended in March 1984 when the government of President Ludwig agreed to surrender only after West Guianan forces told his government to “look out the window”, in which the West Guianans had the Presidential Palace surrounded.

End of the war also for many in Southern Legalese meant the end of their holdings west of the Hador Hills and the city of Addford, the country lost 1/3rd of their territory and many in the years afterward asked, “was it worth it”. The reply in 1999 was yes, when long time friend of Ludwig, Adam Haggord won the presidential election, the first since 1981. He like his friend ran on a pro-Nationalist, anti-WG platform, though unlike Ludwig he held back his most hateful anti-WG rehtoric knowing fully well that under the 1984 Treaty West Guiana at anytime can assume control of the RSL government. It was obvious from the start that he would win and in June he did so with 80% of the total vote garnering a record 1.1 million votes or 77% of registered voters.

On August 1, 1999 Ludwig took office and of his first orders of business was to create the National Defence Force, which was to “Defend and uphold the ideals of the people”. A force of 10,200 was assembled two months latter made up of veterans of the 1984 war, and they during peacetime was used for a police keeping in addition to their defense. Many in Gemsbrook saw this as more as a rouse to get around what the treaty laid out and limited to the RSL. However after several rounds of meetings, debates and legislation the government of West Guiana allowed the Southern Legalite government to keep this force, but it was placed under surveillance of the NIA(National Intelligence Agency).

Under Ludwigs term which lasted between 1999 to 2007 he did rebuild the Southern Legite economy and moved it away from relying on agriculture however like before many areas of the RSL saw a influx of West Guianans moving, the city that saw the largest was Legalese City. Thanks to these people the city’s population grew from a mere 870,000 in 2002 to 2.3 million by 2009. Because of these influx it changed the city politically, moving from the center-right to the center-left, again this influx angered many in the countrys’ rural areas, however though they were calmed by Ludwig who urged for peace.

By 2007 though Ludwig announced that due to illness he would not run for a third term, it was widely known that he was suffering from liver cancer and mild lead poisoning, most of which came from him insisting in using lead dinnerware. For the coming up elections he endorsed Benjamin Helsinger a former Captain in the National Defense Force who also served in the 1984 War and lost his right leg when he stepped on a landmine. He had stated for years he personally has a vendetta against the West Guianan 671th Infantry division which placed landmines around a Southern base camp. During his oath of office speech he promised: “The occupiers will some day know true terror and that they will always be afraid of every snap and crack during the night”

REVOLUTIONARY NORDSKANIA
THE BARONS

Revolutionary Nordskania is a medium sized country that only recently succeeded from an oppressive communist dictatorship to the south. The region is largely influenced by Anglatia, which funded and trained the revolution, and the closest thing it has to a government is the Northern Syndicate that manages foreign policy and has the largest militia. The ongoing revolution is also the reason why many players were born in foreign lands that are safer. The land is ruled by many clans, corporations, and other organizations who own property, and there are no laws beyond property rights. Sport has long been popular in the north, where the revolutionary zone is located, and so a national league was quickly established when the north broke away from the rest of the country. The largest footballing city is the de facto capital, Turbayov, which is home to both Alliance and Central. Alliance is the most supported side historically, while Central won the first summer and winter seasons of the RFL. By the coast and in the industrial centers, football is a religion to the populace, and most Nordskanians consider themselves very knowledgable about the game. They're also extremely passionate when supporting their clubs, and loyalty is a big deal to fans. Once you choose a club in the north, you're a fan for life. The players are also expected to put the interests of their club above their own. The sporting atmosphere in the country is also largely inspired by the unstable political atmosphere, and the ongoing battle to protect the southern border. The creation of the national team reflects this struggle, a struggle for recognition by the rest of the world, and is a major step in the fight for northern freedom.

TACTICS

Tactical styles vary in Nordskania, but the one thing that both of the two biggest clubs believe in is attacking, even if they go about it in different ways. Alliance uses flashy passes, possession play, and holds the ball in the other team's half for as long as possible. Central strikes quicker, using attacking wingers and hold up men at striker to quickly break down a defense when it's caught out of position, and both teams play a high press for most of the match when the other team has the ball.

The best of both styles has been merged in the national team tactic, which had great success with Karpenko's Kurovo Stars side that won the last National Youth League title. The system, known as the Kurovo Whirl, has an emphasis on both passing and having a speed and physical advantage on the edge and up front. It calls for three ball playing center backs, who can play passes to the midfield quickly, and the midfielders have to be technically skilled on the ball. This leads to passers becoming the top midfield players, and not pure athletes. Many of the passes played in the Whirl system have the goal of drawing the defense out of position and stretching them, and the two central mids will make a number of through passes to the three central forwards over the course of the game.

On the wing, speed is a must. After the opposition stretches for an attack, the team's goal should always be to get the ball to the edge and let the wingers either cut inside to attack, or create a chance for another forward surging attacker. Speed is preferable up front, too, because the optimal strikers for this system are able to chase down through balls and win aerial battles to bring down crosses and deflections. Physicality isn't a requirement for a striker playing in the Whirl. Length, however, is. Short strikers simply won't be able to win enough aerial battles to succeed in this role.

While the team uses three forwards, one of them will typically be a false nine who drops deep into the midfield and can sometimes shift the formation into a 3-5-2, although the main difference between the striker and the false nine in this formation is that the false nine is expected to aggressively defend, while the strikers are expected to not run too deep on defense. The last position is goalkeeper, and the keeper is expected to have great passing skills. The role of the keeper is not just to defend, but to start the counter attack quickly before the opponent recovers and gets into defensive shape.

Defensively, the team will aggressively press, however they use the concept of pressing the space and not the man. Instead of making many tackles, players in the Whirl will attempt to cut off passing lanes with positioning, and will try to box out the other team's players by positioning themselves around them. They then intercept the ball and send it to the wings or to the midfield. Only the center backs are consistent tacklers, which is why tackling is one of the most important skills for the three central defenders, one of whom plays slightly high and takes the responsibility of being the main ball playing defender.

SQUAD OVERVIEW

Revolutionary Nordskania enters the Baptism of Fire with a decently talented team, at least by their own standards. Nobody can know how good these guys really are, because they've never played competitive matches against another national team. While the team doesn't have experience, it does have some players from high ranked footballing nations, who were born to members of the Nordskanian diaspora. These players could have competed to play for the national teams of some of the best nations in the multiverse, but they chose to fight for the freedom of their ancestral homeland by playing for the national team of the Revolution. It will be interesting to see if these players can lift the Barons past the low expectations that most foreign media outlets have set for them.

From top to bottom, the roster is basically an all star team from the RFL. Josef Grekov was easily the best keeper in the last winter season, so it was a no brainer to make him a starter despite not playing in the same tactical system that the national team uses. All three center backs can play the ball well. In fact, Christian Nadarevic had five assists last season, three of them off of set piece deflections and two of them from counter attacking. Fabian Hadzic, the Apoxian, is the strongest of the three, and will be the one to challenge the more physical center forwards in this tournament.

In the midfield, the lineup sticks with the tactical style with the exception of using an attacking midfielder who can make forward runs, Arkadi Zima. Zima is the cousin of Josef and Natasha Grekov, and is the only player in the squad who is playing abroad, and the Imperial Markovsky central mid can play deep or high as an extra attacker. The wingers make up for the speed that his partner in the central midfield, Besic, lacks, and both wingers are very fast, agile, and have a good first touch. Ante Sindler, the number one winger, is an interesting fellow off the pitch, and should be the vocal leader of the attack. Everything about him stands out, from the fact that both of his arms are covered with tattoos, to the highlight reel plays that he produces. Sindler will be a star for a long time with Central, and his managers are hoping that he can be that star for the national team, too.

Up front, much of the load will go on the Quebec born Damir Dragovic-Courtial, the new signing for Central. It's not known what role he'll play with Central, but for the national team, Karpenko looks to use his 6'4 height as an advantage. Dragovic-Courtial will be playing as the highest of the three forwards, and will be the main target for crosses and through balls because of having the physicality lacked by Vlasenko. Nobody really knows how the French speaking, mixed race striker will fit in with the Slavic, Russian speakers on the team. He did okay at Energie in that regard, but there's a lot of room for tension between players whose families stayed in Nordskania despite the Revolution, and those who are the children of refugees who left when things got bad.

One of the other two forwards is Piotr Vlasenko, Alliance's cheeky poacher who has been moved from the wing to the striker position because his speed fits the tactical system. Vlasenko is only twenty two but has already been consistently good for Alliance's youth affiliate. He's only recently broken into the first team, which is allegedly because his manager thought that he acts like a diva off of the pitch. If there was a conflict between the two, it's certainly over now that he's playing regular minutes with the first team and the national team. Finally, there's the only youth player to make it onto the squad. Francesca 'Ces' Yoshida was born in Kairaku, Kirishima, and only returned to the Revolutionary zone as a sixteen year old when she signed for the Kurovo Stars of the RYL. Ces could have been a basketball player because of her 6'5 height, but ended up playing striker, and made it into the Kairaku Nymphs academy before joining the Stars and becoming a dominant player who scored fifty nine times in fifty five appearances in all competitions with the Stars. She claims that her success is because of following Bushido code, and she's notably the only player in Nordskania to claim to be a modern samurai. Whatever the reason for her success, Ces will be playing against a much higher level of competition, and this will be a real test for her as one of the only women on the squad.

Ilyseum National Soccer Football Team

Manager - Rule Theriault
The ever-controversial Rule Theriault has, despite the bankruptcy of his corporation National Soccer Team, LLC and his disastrous tenure as manager for Saintland, obtained yet another managerial job. Rule is the son of an Admiral in the Republican Navy and that military mindset carries over into his coaching. When the Ilysee Senate decided to field a Soccer Football team in the World Cup, Rule was considered a perfect fit for the team.

Assistant Manager - Kyle Bolton
Kyle Bolton is the former captain of Theriault's National Soccer Team, LLC squad who retired from active competition due to the disbanding of that team. During his time as a player, Bolton was well-known for his leadership in the locker room and his willingness to stand up for his teammates no matter what. As a coach, Bolton is equally loyal to his players and is the kinder complement to Theriault.

Assistant Manager - Koby Theodore
Koby Theodore is one of the greatest and most controversial players in the history of the World Cup. He debuted for National Soccer Team, LLC at the young age of 15 and gradually grew into the team's most dynamic playmaker. His career is still defined by a controversial rape accusation that blinded many observers to his natural talent. Although Theodore is now retired from active competition, he remains in match shape and may or may not be considering coming out of retirement to play for the Ilysee National Team at some point.

Notes about Ilyseum

Ilyseum is a nation in the Realm of the Gods, an alternate reality where gods are real, electricity does not exist and magical powers exist. The proper demonym is Ilysee and the names "Ilysee Republic" and "Ilyseum" are used interchangeably to describe the lands controlled by the Senate and People of Ilysea.

Ilysee names consist of a personal name followed by the personal name of the parent of the same gender. As the Ilysee National Soccer Football Team does not include any women, all second names are the names of the fathers of the players. That is shorthand for [Personal Name], son of [Father's Personal Name] which is also a correct form of writing Ilysee names. The manager and coaches for the team are not Ilysee and their names are in the more conventional format.

On the pitch, the Ilysee National Soccer Football Team competes wearing only a loincloth in the colors of the Ilysee flag.

The Great Pi - National Football Team

It is time for them to come into the real world. For too long, they have remained isolated, watching everyone from afar. For too long, they have remained out of sporting competitions, jealous, but reasoning that is was not safe to play. For too long, they have remained separate, no economic exchanges, no travelling, no communication. For too long, they have remained a hidden part of life - life no one knew existed, life that everyone would think is crazy imagination, and is unrealistic.

But now is the time for change. Gone is the old 'Great Pi', and the new 'Great Pi' has brought with it a series of changes to the nation, one of them being participation in world sports tournaments, as they are doing now in their Baptism of Fire, and first World Cup. Gone are the safety and authoratative demands of the dictator that followed before, and everyone is excited, willing to see what this new leader has to offer, after their old leader came to a tragic end. It is time to take a risk for The Great Pi, and sports is that risk. Wherever the 'Great Pi' goes, all its subjects follow.

In comes 'The Great Pi', and its subjects. They will not be stopped. They will not be scared of humans, and their hunger. They will not be squashed to a pulp, the fillings inside them oozing out and staining the pitch forever. This is no longer a factor that the beloved 'Great Pi' cares about. It just wants some fun.

Basic Information

Nation: The Great Pi
Team Nickname: Baked Pies
Style Modifier: π (Pi: 3.142)
Trigramme: GPI
Formation: 3-4-3

Staffing:

Manager: Strawberry Sherry - 6 weeks
As manager of The Great Pi, Strawberry has been preparing hard for this Baptism of Fire and World Cup. In the hope of asserting some form of dominance in this tournament, she has prepared a tactical game plan, which allows the pies to win without getting eaten by humans. The possibility of one of the national players getting eaten is a fair risk, and the manager has had to factor in precautions for this into the gameplan. This should not stop the aggressive style of play that Strawb seems to advocate for though, and will hopefully lead to prolific goalscoring for the team, which is hoped will translate into success in this tournament. She hasn't been in charge of the national team for any international games as of yet, but this is down to The Great Pi having not competed in international sporting tournaments before this one. She will be hoping for a good run in this Baptism of Fire, and the World Cup, to assert confidence in the head pies of her ability to lead the national team to success, and maintain her position as manager of the team.

Assistant Manager: Apple N' Blackberry - 5 weeks

Offensive Coach: Pork N' Apple - 4 weeks

Defensive Coach: Ham N' Leek - 5 weeks

Goalkeeper Coach: Leek N' Onion - 4 weeks

Physio: Banana N' Custard - 5 weeks

Medic: Pomegranate N' Orange - 3 weeks

The Players

The team is new coming into this Baptism of Fire. With little experience playing football, due to the previous 'Great Pi' disallowing the sport due to the 'inherent danger presented in the way the game is undertaken'. However, those who loved sports like football have now risen by the thousands from no one, creating a basic format of amateur teams, which could one day materialise into a league, and have formulated a national team, which the new 'Great Pi' has endorsed himself. The players will be looking to play at their best, and achieve stardom, by trying to win the Baptism of Fire. While this will remain a significant challenge for them, due to the expected difficult teams, it is possible, and within reach, for the pies to reach, and win, the final.

Defence

Goalkeeper: Beef N' Veggie - 3 weeks
Beef N' Veggie is a decent goalkeeper. One of the larger pies on the team, he is a perfect fit for goal, with his round body providing the most optimum coverage of goal. He is hindered when it comes to diving - the inherent problems of having a circular body with two legs - but his ability to role around the goal gives him a large coverage, making it difficult for the opposition players to score. Likely not to risk going out to collect the ball too much, as he has a deep childhood fear of being squashed or eaten by humans, which always provide a source of danger to pies.

Goalkeeper: Raspberry N' Lemon - 2 weeks
Towards the more youthful age of the players on this team, she is still in a situation where she is gaining experience - which is what this tournament is exactly for her, and other players on this team - to build up their experience so that the team can strive for greater progress in tournaments to come. Slightly smaller that the starter, Raspberry is much more agile, and has a much stronger on the diving front. Born out of childhood naivety, she is also more willing to come out and collect the ball, even at the risk of being squashed by the stampede of players.

Centre-Back: Fish N' Herb - 4 weeks
Fish is a golden oldie in this team, harking back to the eras where if someone played football, they would be hung for public display. His depth of experience and knowledge at amateur level is likely to help him, as he can use his skills to develop the rest of the team and build a real unity in amongst the team, alongside the manager. Seen as a potential replacement for the manager in the future, he needs to impress to stand in a good stead with the view of the authorities.

Centre-Back: Peach N' Pineapple - 3 weeks
Another key player in defence, she is going to be a vital pie in the centre of the defensive field. She can stand steadfast and strong, and is not afraid to go in for the tackle, even if it does mean taking a few injuries (if this happens, more might have to be shipped in to take their places on the national football team).

Centre-Back: Chicken Tikka - 2 weeks
The youngest of the starting defensive trio, Chicken will be looking to the other two to help guide him through his development in this team. While his stylistic play does still need to be developed, Chicken is relatively fast, and is strong in blocking shots and passes. Probably more strong when not being onslaught by attacks, but can stand tall in front of oncoming strikers. Difficult to pass unless close by.

Centre-Back: Apple N' Cinnamon - 3 weeks
Would be a good starting centre-back if she had more conviction when it came to her tackles. Apple also is not fit at this point to play, and needs to build up her stamina in order to be able to make an impacted start to the game.

Centre-Back: Pear N' Whisky - 3 weeks
Possibly the most unreliable and most unsportsmanlike player on this team, Pear has a bad temper to herself. She often struggles to contain her anger when given a card, and can often be banned from tournaments because of it. She has a sort of naivety in that she doesn't recognise the fact they could just eat her - as they have done to many pies in our history. Her performance can be unreliable, but when she plays well, she plays very well.

Midfield:

Left-Midfielder: HoneyPie - 3 weeks
Well, the men love her, and she has good skills on the pitch. She has some pace to her, allowing her to make decent runs down the wing, but she is not easy to tackle, and can be very elusive with her playing style. Not to be underestimated, she can be quite a beast when it comes to football, and relentless in her efforts to win the match.

Left-Midfielder: Toffee N' Custard - 3 weeks
A great power-sub, Toffee has the capability to turn a game around. With her superior strength and pace on the wing, as well as her remarkable crossing skills, she is a commonly used sub when in a dire situation.

Centre-Midfielder: Lamb N' Mint - 4 weeks
Lamb is a key player in centre-midfield. Holding the captains pie sash, he coordinates the team from the midfield, and maintains the structure of the team. He is a dominant midfielder type, with a good array of passes available to him at seconds notice. He is very elusive, and can pull a few tricks off.

Centre-Midfielder: Blue Berry - 3 weeks
Naturally, her favourite colour is blue. She is also a valuable asset to the team, providing great support to Lamb in midfield. She normally hangs back a little bit compared to Lamb, who is more of an attacking central midfielder, but their base positions is Centre-Midfield. While she is not as talented as Lamb, she still has a good pass, especially long passes, and can help out in defence with her tackling skills when needed.

Centre-Midfielder: Cherry Cream - 2 weeks
Cherry is a strong sub. A power-sub in her like, she has the skills of the other centre-midfielders, just doesn't have the stamina to last a whole match.

Centre-Midfielder: Chicken N' Mushroom - 1 week
A young, developing player, Chicken is only here really to gain experience of a international tournament. He does have some talent, but is not yet on par with the other players. Certainly a player for the future.

Right-Midfielder: Pork N' Tomato - 3 weeks
An experienced winger, but not so much a paced winger. What he doesn't have in pace though, he makes up for in strength, and can ward away opposition players with his bulky body, using it to his advantage. He also has good crosses.

Right-Midfielder: Corned Beef - 4 weeks
Corned Beef is a great sub winger. He is relatively pacey, making him a great power sub, but his lack of stamina means he struggles to play a whole game. Slightly larger pie than others, so harder to tackle and be tackled.

Offensive

Left-Forward: Green Grape - 3 weeks
With an eye for the target, Green is perfectly placed to score goals. Also open to moving out wide to take a wider supporting role at points, Green performs a great role in left-forward. Pace helps her to get around, with power in her shots and crosses allowing her to get the ball to the destination with ease.

Left-Forward: Key Lime - 4 weeks
A great sub in left-forward, Key makes a rapid impact on the game, and can often be used to get last minute goals. Slower than Green, and with less pace, she is a weaker player in general, but initially, the fresh pair of legs gain the Great Pi team a dominant edge.

Centre-Forward: Shepherd's Pie - 2 weeks
Accuracy and power provide a lethal combination for Shepherd's. With the ability to do both long and short shots with ease, he provides a dangerous threat on the goalkeeper, which they must be aware of at all times. Pace isn't exactly his strong suit, but he is good with headers, which helps with crosses and corners.

Centre-Forward: Steak N' Kidney - 3 weeks
A strong player in centre-forward, he is let down by his lack of power which makes his shots easy to save. However, he is still good with headers, which helps with crosses and corners, which are one of the key tactics of the team.

Right-Forward: Strawberry Rhubarb - 2 weeks
Strawberry makes for a great right-forward. She can play wide, with strong crosses, provide a supporting role in midfield, or even take shots ourself, with her accuracy providing her with the bullseye most of the time.

Right-Forward: Tarta de Santiago - 3 weeks
Tarta is a player with decent pace, but a lack of stamina to last the match. She has good long shots, but struggles under pressure near the goal, and prefers to go down the sweaty route, to avoid risking being punished by the 'Great Pi'.

It's almost time for the Vans' first-ever WCC match. Being drawn into Group B, Qasden will matchup in the rankless tournament against Dabblslyvokia, Nouvel Acadie, Dp Country, and Gummuservi. I think it'd be fit to use this time and predict are match outcomes against the said countries. Keep in mind that all 40 countries in BoF63 have no KPB, meaning anything could happen.

First up, it's Dabblslyvokia, and unfamiliar face making history as Qasden's first WCC opponent. Not much is really known about Dabbls, except that they're in the tournament.

Our prediction: let's start the tournament with a win! A draw would be fine, too, but 3 points are always better.

Next up, it's....well.....we're off on match day 2. Guess we'll explore the country of Red Blackiland a bit or something of the like.

Our prediction: win?

Ok, match day 3 is against Nouvel Acadie, a frenchie-looking country with the pride of being the only other country in group b to have (as of this report) an announced roster.

Our prediction: a draw seems likely, but this one could go either way, really.

Now, the most exciting, day 4 stars a match against Gummuservi at the Red Glorious Stadium. Gummuservi (to us) was best known for an outstanding debuting performance and broadcast at the 17th Handball World Cup in Quebec. Then again, this is soccer, so anything can occur.

Our prediction: (if Gummuservi keeps quiet 'till then :p ), a draw might be possible, but a loss wouldn't be surprising, either.

Finally, our last Group B matchup pits us against Dp Country. Again, not much else is known about the nation, other than its flag being pretty cool and it being our fourth opponent.

Our prediction: a win would be significantly great, but again, nobody's ranked.

So there you have it! Can Qasden make our dreams come true in Red Blackiland? Or will group B be just too much for the Vans? Stay tuned, stay updated, and stay walrus for our premiere report of the 63rd BoF, hosted in Red Blackiland and Flardania!

Origins of Ilyseum: Part I

While many think of the multiverse as consisting of a single reality, where history was always meant to have played out in a certain manner, this is not how the multiverse actually is. Instead, there are a near-infinite number of realities, which are all part of the same multiverse. Some of them are dramatically different from one another, while others differ only in subtle ways. The initial population of the Realm of the Gods originated in one of these many realities, one that differed in only subtle ways from the other reality to which their current reality is now connected.

The Ilysee were formed by some of those initial humans pulled into the Realm of the Gods as their reality was dying. But what has been untold so far is the story of how that reality diverged unto apocalypse and how the Ilysee and the other tribes rose from the ashes, like phoenixes, building a new future in a new realm. This is that story.

Our story begins over a thousand years ago, to the inhabitants of the Realm of the Gods, when their original reality diverged from the one to which they are now connected. The story begins with a young soccer football team that rose to prominence by running down their opposition, but which repeatedly found themselves falling short of qualifying for the World Cup of their reality in the most controversial of manners. Finally, however, they secured an automatic spot in the World Cup when their nation was selected to host the World Cup and they took things to the next level. From the start of that World Cup, their manager, coaching staff and players guaranteed victory at every single opportunity and never missed an opportunity to tell their opponents that they were, indeed, the best in the multiverse. At every turn, they backed it up, dispatching legendary opponent after legendary opponent until they reached the final, originally scheduled to be held in the nation with whom they were co-hosting.

However, after days of debate between the hosting committees, the World Cup final was moved to allow the host team to play for the championship in front of their home crowd. The match was utterly one-sided and the World Cup Committee even appointed a referee who was known for being in the pocket of the host team's manager to officiate the match, which demoralized the opposition. Ultimately, they would win the match by a 7 goals to 1 margin. After the match concluded, the winning manager gave a speech directed at the rest of that reality, bragging about how his team had defeated "all of your heroes" and how they were now unstoppable and, with the most powerful military in that reality behind them, how they could and would do anything they wanted from then on, with no consequences whatsoever. Anybody who stood in their way would "feel the full wrath of the Exceptional Nation" as they were "wiped off the map" by the most dominant war machine ever seen.

At the following World Cup, which would be the last one ever held in that reality, they would back up these words as tensions rose day-after-day. Their players increasingly showed a total disregard for the laws of opposing nations and their own law enforcement looked for every excuse to arrest uppity opposing players on the flimsiest of charges. In the end, they qualified for the World Cup having won every single match by multiple goals and proceeded to destroy opponent after opponent en route to a repeat championship. The final match of that World Cup was a bloodbath. An accident in the third minute of the match resulted in an injury to one of the star players from the defending champions, which they interpreted as intentional. The remainder of that match often looked more like a pankration fight at the famous Ilysea Amphitheater than a soccer football match, as player after player would leave the match with a serious injury. By the end, both teams had long since run out of substitutes as a team of 8 defeated a team of 6 by a goal to nil margin.

However, it was the celebration following that second consecutive World Cup that set off the war that would result in the destruction of that reality. Fans of the victorious team joined their players in celebrating by burning the host city to the ground. In the chaos, they looted shops throughout the city and raped its women, gunning down any police officers who attempted to stop the rioting. Eventually, that nation called in its military, which was regarded as an act of war against the "Exceptional Nation", which quickly mobilized its forces for a full-scale land invasion. This war rapidly expanded into an all-encompassing inferno, with every nation forced to choose a side.

The war raged on for years, a bloody stalemate that decimated the youth population throughout the entirety of that reality. Finally, however, the great war machine crumbled after making the strategic mistake of invading a certain polar nation famous throughout that reality for finishing second in the World Cup over and over again in the middle of winter. As the Alliance marched on their capital, the generals made the only honorable choice: launching enough nuclear weapons at their enemies to obliterate them three times over. Retaliation followed and, once word of that reached the generals in the capital, they launched the remainder of their nuclear arsenal, condemning the entire reality to destruction, which was still preferable to their nation falling into the hands of inferior foreign scum.

As the mushroom cloud consumed that reality, around a hundred thousand of its inhabitants, chosen specifically on the basis of their youth and their health, suddenly found themselves pulled through a portal into another world. In this world, they would build a new life for themselves, free of the evil technologies that only led to destruction...

Head Coach

Johan Valkeniers

Of all the decisions of the VNVB (Veldgouwen FA), picking Johan Valkeniers as manager of this novice team certainly was one of the most contested ones. Such does not refer to his slate of honour as a player, which includes a longlist of trophies during the amateur days and playing a major part in the two titles of Westerzandse VV, where Valkeniers had a prolific Indian summer. Rather it is his complete lack of experience in the cockpit of a team which makes him more than a surprise choice. Once he hung up his boots, the 48-year old made himself an even more well-known face as a pundit for major television channels and newspapers, a role in which he seldom forgets to use the vinegar and dares to kick against many shins. With that in mind, it’s strange that the VNVB even considered someone with that amount of enemies. But, credit where credit is due, his tactical capacity is uncontested and his vocal guidance might give a good vibe to a still unaccustomed team.

Assistant Coach

Ronny Allaerts

Those guys that sit in the plush during games decided they needed to counterbalance the boisterous and outspoken Valkeniers and offered a half-time contract to a man who has earned quite some respect in the inner circle for his work with Piershaven Club, even if Allaerts is less known for the public. Those who do might rather recall him as a mediocre defender who plied his trade with perennial elevator clubs such as Zwarte Leeuwen Brust and Rapid Almskerk. However, his current reputation as a valuable assistant is built on his relentless number crunching. Whatever Ronny Allaerts lacks in national authority, he makes up in vision to turn free-kicks and corners into dangerous weapons, as he demonstrated in his time at Club who rein in title after title.

1 – Goalkeeper – 33 years old – Piershaven Club

Steven Vandermarliere

Picking the number one on the teamsheet was a relative no-brainer, considering the vast experience and trophy cabinet from Vandermarliere. Born and raised in the urban core of Piershaven, near the docks, this fan-favourite has been defending the green-and-white colours of The Eternal for over two decades now, breaking his way into the starting line-up already at a young age. As such, he hasn’t missed any season of the professional era and his 539 games for Club are not only a local record but also a national best. In these years, he guided them to ten domestic trophies including last year’s title. Some will call him confident, others arrogant, but it goes with a dominant style in the box and great capacity to get the best out of his defenders. Critics might point to his modest feet and his tendency to tease the opposing fans might backfire – but he’s still the best the nation has to offer.

12 – Goalkeeper – 22 years old – Excelsior Plek

Simon Oberink

We are all in favour for giving youth a shot but skipping household names between the posts such as Hubert Van Boxelaere (Spierendam FC) and Guy Noyez (Neerskouter) for a junior who can bank on little more than two years between the sticks for a relegation battler, that is a dodgy move. However, Valkeniers has confidence in the unmistakable talent from Oberink, who is quick to the ground and gives catlike reflexes a new ring. Also importantly, he has the right character to deal with a permanent role as second-string solution, having always been considered a bit too short to make it at Belden Sport before making the step back to Plek and breaking his supposed limits there. One major question remains, if something would happen to Vandermarliere, is he capable of stepping in and saving the day? And exactly that one remains very open.

2 – Right Defender – 26 years old – Racing Vlierdrecht

Derk Breydels

Valkeniers never made a secret of his ambition to play with attentive and active wingbacks and such a role fits Derk Breydels like a glove. The right attacker turned defender won’t hesitate to go back and forth near his side line a baker’s dozen times each half and this set of lungs earned him the nickname Roadrunner. Breydels’ natural guts is shown by the transfer he made at twenty, leaving his youth team Vlierdrecht Sport for cross-city rivals Racing but hasn't regretted so as Sport lingers in the second tier these days, whilst Racing has gone on to win two titles with Breydels as an essential element of the line-up. His crosses will hurt many opponents at this level and he allows the team to move up the pitch incredibly fast, but he needs a reliable man by his side to cover for the risks he takes.

3 – Central Defender – 31 years old – Union Fiersem

Carlos Deferme

With just a single Liga Beker won, the trophy cupboard of Deferme does not represent the status he has built up across the last decade in Veldgouwen. Initially a journeyman with stints in Pellegem, Corinthians, Racing Grawarden and Plek, his transfer to Union allowed the club to transform from a straggler into a reliable side, being the sole to challenge Piershaven Club lately. Carlos Deferme is a no-nonsense old-school defender who will take no prisoners but is clever enough to avoid abundant yellow cards. His fine heading results in a goal or four yearly, certainly an extra weapon on corner kicks. Off the pitch, he is notorious for being completely devoid of any star attitude, which makes him a bit of a hero for any Fiersem fan. It also allows them to turn a blind eye on his mediocre passing and incapacity to open up the game with a proper cross.

4 – Central Defender – 25 years old – Piershaven Club

Sven Wittouck

Making up for the lack of technical skills for Deferme and Vandermarliere at the core of the team, we may assume that Sven Wittouck will be a regular starter for this formation. Having made his way up the ladder originating from Third Divisionist Go Ahead Pachtem, he has joined Piershaven Club from Vitesse Ravenstad three seasons ago for over six million, still a record figure for a defender. But Club hasn’t regretted the move, two titles and cup final victory later, trophies in which Wittouck played his part with bravado. One can be assured of tight defending and the capacity to deal with Gegenpressure when putting him in the middle of your defence. He still lacks some presence and can be conned in the air, but for what goes a modern defender, Sven Wittouck is the full package with still room for further growth in his already fine skillset.

5 – Left Defender – 28 years old – Spierendam FC

Kieran Maes

The sole selected player from the Canaries is considered a sure bet for a starter. After a stint with Belden Sport, he made the switch to Spierendam three seasons ago. An excellent choice, as the 3-4-3 employed by the always optimistic side from the historical capital from the nation might never lift them to the absolute summit of the table but fits someone with the skillset of Maes like a glove. There is speed but what catches the eye is his marvellous positioning and capacity to nip an attack in the bud cleanly without resorting himself to bringing in the chainsaw or kicking the leather over the stands. Reliable on and off the field, Kieran Maes has been chosen in the team of the year six seasons on end now, a testimony to his consistency. Or maybe to our lack of other proper left backs.

13 – Central Defender – 23 years old – Vitesse Ravenstad

Mike Mortelmans

Currently, Mortelmans still plies his trade for one of the smallest clubs in the top tier but the question remains how long that is going to last – Mike Mortelmans might be the hottest prospect on the market. As a youngster, his lack of discipline ensured that he never really broke through at Koninklijke Pellegem but since he left the Royals behind and moved to small-town Ravenstad, Mortelmans has blossomed. Get ready for a good ninety kilograms of raw power that tear up many an opponent and make him excellent when dealing with sturdier strikers. He is faster than you would presume but his technical limitations probably will put him on the bench for the national team. This man is still prone to picking up unnecessary cards but his off-field antics have calmed ever since marrying one of Veldgouwens most notorious models last year. Often called Iron Mike.

14 – Defender – 29 years old – FC Piershaven

Huub Adriaansen

An optimist will say that Adriaansen has enough speed to do his job on the wing, the power to save himself as centre back and the technical baggage to even survive in midfield. Other, more realistic people, will discuss how his lack of positional discipline and heading make him unfit to really shine at either position. His polyvalence probably lured Valkeniers into inviting him over a series of more astute defenders but it is questioned whether Adriaansen can still handle his tasklist once he is put against international opposition. But for midtable FC Piershaven, this former Westerzandse player certainly is a great weapon and someone who will give everything he has till the last whistle. Another source of notoriety is his capacity to be brutally honest in post-match interviews and his ”People would say we were shit tonight. They’re damn right.” quote became a local classic.

6 – Defensive Midfielder – 28 years old – Piershaven Club

Wim Vreysen

One of the six Piershaven Club players in this selection, Wim Vreysen is respected as the silent architect behind the incredible success of the last years, having won seven domestic trophies across six seasons. With passing rates usually in the top half of ninety procent, Vreysen is the metronome who ensures that people can pick out their moment to find a hole in the opposing backline. The lack of risk in his game might be the main criticism given but those who play with him on a daily basis know the value of this prototype of a professional, in the best sense of the word. A dream for coaches and referees, Vreysen will speak up seldom but when times get rough, he is not afraid to lead the way. Has gained some notoriety amongst the non-sports fans when he became the face of an anti-racism campaign.

8 – Box-to-box Midfielder – 21 years old – Racing Grawarden

Jim Decubber

Despite being a regular squad player at Piershaven Club at only seventeen, he left the stadium of the domestic powerhouse with revolving doors after a financial dispute. Many were surprised that he joined the modest Grawarden but that turned out to be the correct decision. Despite his age, he already has a team revolving around him which goes along in his dynamic, energy-absorbing style. Go hard or go home, something like that, something that gets confirmed by his clubbing records at night. Still, Racing knows that they have to hold on to their little diamond as Decubber singlehandedly might make them champion one day. Always top marks when it comes to ground covered and passing, matched to a more than average tackle and vision, which makes him an interesting teammate: does more than his dirty work and can pop up to score on your pass, but a bit of a hothead when things don’t go his way.

10 – Attacking Midfielder – 34 years old – Belden Sport

Guido Becu

Poor Guido Becu has been endowed with the mythical number ten shirt, quite much of an honour for a player who has been consistent yet never spectacular for Racing Vlierdrecht, Piershaven FC and since a season or three Belden Sport. But the raw facts are that Viergouwen is lacking a brilliant number ten who can bring the full package to the pitch, especially since Gert Stalhof suffered a horrible injury which keeps him away from the grass for a year and a half already. So it will be Guido Becu, lacking any star factor with his moustache and receding hairline, who will have to carry the team. Becu prefers to keep the ball near the ground and has a very astute through pass, combined with more than neat running lines. Although his play is more creative than some credit him for, he tends to go down with the team if the opponent dominates physically.

7 – Right Midfielder – 24 years old – Neerskouter Sportief

Boudewijn Snoeks

Exactly reaching one metre and sixty-two centimetres above the grass, Snoeks will seldom make the difference on corner kicks. But he has the meanest dribble in the nation and is the kind of player for whom people come to the stadium. His capacity to go both inside and outside makes him unpredictable for wing defenders and he is excellent in exploiting a moment of hesitation from his direct opponent. His goal average, around seven a year, does not warrant the amount of shots on goals he tends to take, even from a sharp angle. If he would add some more eye to a teammate to his game, Boudewijn Snoeks could be the most difficult to stop weapon Veldgouwen has. A Neerskouter club player, having risen through the youth divisions, but eager for a step higher. Hopes to demonstrate at this tournament that he is really ready for that.

11 – Left Midfielder – 28 years old – Union Fiersem

Marnix Van Baekel

Van Baekel is not too tall either but otherwise, all comparison stops. The lanky player usually sticks to his wing except on free kicks and corners where he brings his magnificent cross in action from a different position. A left foot that can telepathically guide the ball anywhere in the box, Marnix learned his trade in the lower divisions for Sparta Leusden and VC Lovingem but since Fiersem gave him a chance, things have gone quick. Apart from regularly leading all assisting pass statistics, Van Baekel does not feel too good to neglect his defensive duties, a style which matches Union. A lightweight, he will be of little use when it comes to duelling but he perfected cutting off the space of opponents and stops several counters in their tracks so. Could be a little bit quicker and the dynamic with his back is crucial, which make many wonder whether Kieran Maes is the right man to compliment him.

15 – Defensive Defender – 18 years old – Rapid Almskerk

Dan Troch

The youngest one to make the cut and the only one to play in the second tier last season. But his role in the title of Rapid did catch the attention of anyone near Veldgouwer football. Already a starting player for Almskerk as soon as he passed the legal limit of sixteen, Dan is surprisingly strong physically and has the stamina of someone ten years older. Along with that goes a mature head, but his quick rise might even for him be difficult to grasp. Went down with Rapid two years ago but decided to stick with them despite several lucrative offers because then “I’ll have to show that I can guide a team that’s favourite every week”. Yep, that mature. But he does lack experience against the real quality teams and that makes him quite a long shot from Valkeniers. A hands-down future starter but whether his vision suffices for this level is difficult to define.

16 – Attacking Midfielder – 24 years old – Piershaven Club

Kris Liesmonts

The lack of depth with attacking midfielders in mind, Kris Liesmonts is not really considered to be the star of the champions, Piershaven Club although it is a bit unfair to hold that against him. Often seeming a bit clumsy, Liesmonts has his image against him, something which isn’t helped by his capacity to be the only Club player to make a gaffe every once and a while. But once you look through that, you might see a hard-working attacking midfielder who will dive into space whenever half a metre opens up, who has a more than fine offensive pass and who scores his fair share of the goals. His tattoos with slogans in favour of far-going autonomy for the Oosthoek made him a controversial figure to call up but according to Valkeniers, “I’m selecting footballers, not politicians”. And his prowess does get valued, more than by the press, by his fellow players.

9 – Striker – 25 years old – Piershaven Club

Piet Masschelin

A pure targetman with a rocket in his right foot, Piet Masschelin brings home the bacon for Piershaven Club. Across the last four seasons, he accumulated a very respectable 89 goals in 154 games, a figure that has gotten him two Golden Boots and the utmost respect from the home crowd. Masschelin is not an uncontested figure, admitting himself that he turns on a switch when going on the pitch: horrible tackles, clashes with fans, fights with opponents and swearing to refs, he has been there. In daily life, he is a fine guy without that short temper who is as hard on his teammates as he is on himself – doing an extra series after training is regular for him. His ambitiousness is not always loved, but it did result in the man who’s at 25 already cited to be one of the best strikers every produced in the nation.

17 – Forward – 29 years old – Piershaven Club

Koert Schepers

Of those not wearing a jersey between one and eleven, Schepers is potentially closest to getting a spot at the kick-off some time or another. Rather on the short side himself, he is used to acting around a tall guy at Piershaven Club with Masschelin as big man. His stats are certainly fine: the last eight years he never went below a production of twelve goals per season. If you would have to categorize him, it would be easy to call him a pocket striker but he is more than raw speed and quick feet. His shot is seldom hard but always with a certain elegance and there is a guy with an eye for a teammate in times of need. As beloved and calm as he is on the field, it is hard to believe that he seemed lost for professional football at eighteen when struggling with drug addictions.

18 – Forward – 31 years old – Racing Vlierdrecht

Jaco Poortman

He’s a poacher and that’s ok, he hardly works but he scores all day. Twelve years with Vlierdrecht have given Jaco Poortman a specific cult status with the fans. He is a man that you love to hate and everyone has an opinion on him, in the case of pundits usually a negative one. His style is missing and it is hard to find a beautiful goal with his signature on it but he does deliver. And exactly that production gotten him a spot in the selection surpassing more renowned or talented guys such as Wagemaekers (Fiersem), Schaepdryver (Grawarden) or Van Moer (Spierendam). Starting Poortman in international games might be a bridge too far but if Valkeniers brings him in with ample minutes left and it’s Jacogoal who scores a winner, all critics will be silenced again.
