Campionato Esportiva XVII: The Everything Thread

The Tumbran Football Association is pleased to be the hosts of the
Campionato Esportiva XVII

Bid can be found here.

Esportiva's footballing championship treads into new territories - the Tumbran Isles, for the first time. Will the new hosts be able to prove themselves on the world stage, or will they crumple beneath the pressure?

Last time out, in the Campionato Esportiva XII, Apox won the CE before announcing their retirements due to a government-forced sabbatical. With this edition of the Campionato also missing regular powerhouses Falatulu, the Free Republics and The Sarian, will this tournament see the rise of a new generation of Esportivan football nations or will the Old Firm of Esportivan football remain firmly in control?

This is the Campionato Esportiva, back for its seventeenth edition.

If you are not a member of Esportiva, or if you are not in this competition, do not post in this thread. Moderation will be notified.

About Tumbra

A map of Tumbra can be found here.

The Royal Federal Republic of Tumbra is a nation of over 67 million people is an extremely diverse nation, welcoming people from all around the world to its shores. Tumbra has often been called an "immigrant nation", simply because it has so many cultures and values that the traditional Tumbran identity has been moulded and kneaded to fit the new Tumbran demographic. That being said, however, 87.1% of the population is still white - but the proportion of nonwhite people is significantly higher in metropolitan areas.

A great Wikipedia article on the nation can be found here.

Tumbra: Weather

Tumbra has a temperate climate, with plentiful rainfall all year round. The temperature varies with the seasons seldom dropping below −11 °C (12 °F) or rising above 35 °C (95 °F). The prevailing wind is from the south-west and bears frequent spells of mild and wet weather from the Sarian Sea, although the eastern parts are mostly sheltered from this wind since the majority of the rain falls over the western regions the eastern parts are therefore the driest. Sarianese currents, warmed by the Paradystopian Cheese Desert, bring mild winters; especially in the west where winters are wet and even more so over high ground. Summers are warmest in the south-east of Tumbra, being closest to the Esportivan Federal Republic mainland, and coolest in the north. Heavy snowfall can occur in winter and early spring on high ground, and occasionally settles to great depth away from the hills.

Some packing advice that the Foreign Office has for travellers is to pack warm clothes. Always, always consult the Met Office, the Environment Agency or the Lackish Environment Protection Agency for additional information and advice on the weather.

If tourists decide to go on hikes, here are some precautions to take.

- never practice these activities alone;
- always hire an experienced guide from a reputable company;
- buy travel insurance that covers helicopter rescue and medical evacuation;
- ensure that your physical condition is good enough to meet the challenges of your activity;
- advise a family member or friend of your itinerary, including when you expect to be back to camp;
- know the symptoms of acute altitude sickness, which can be fatal;
- sign up with your embassy's location service; and,
- obtain detailed information on trekking routes or ski slopes before setting out and do not venture away from marked trails or slopes.

Tumbra: Religion

While previously an extremely devout nation, Tumbra has seen a gradually increasing number of people becoming non-religious ever following 1945. The two main religions present in the nation include Humanism and Protestantism, with 36% and 22% of the population identifying themselves as that. 21% of people identified as non-religious, while the remainder were made up of minor religions.

That being said, however, tourists should not attempt to incite violence against any creed or faith - such an incident will result in immediate deportation to the tourist's home country and a ban on entering the country for five years minimum.

Tumbra: Travel

Travelling to Tumbra is not very difficult. All one needs to do is to obtain a visa before setting off on one's trip to Tumbra, which will be approved 95% of the time - unless there is a very blatant security concern, after which the tourist will be detained and brought in for questioning. International flights land at many airports throughout Tumbra, though the main airport served is the Goldlion City International Airport, in the south-west of Goldlion.

Within Tumbra itself, however, it is more than recommended that tourists use public transport when commuting in Tumbra. Tumbra has an extensive rail network, and tourists are advised to use those instead, as the roads are excellent but are often narrow and congested, especially in urban areas.

Traffic drives on the left. Use caution when entering a traffic circle (roundabout). Pedestrians should use caution when crossing streets and be mindful that traffic is usually coming from the opposite direction than what they may be used to.

If using taxis, only use officially marked ones - however, carsharing applications like Uber are allowed in the country.

Tumbra: Language

The lingua franca and the national language is English - most Tumbrans often do not understand much else. The outlying Territories - Lackland, Sofan and Artumo - have their own dialects and languages which are recognised by the constituent countries, but not by the official Tumbran government, which uses English for all official purposes.

Tumbra: Food

Tumbran cuisine is the specific set of cooking traditions and practices associated with Tumbra. Tumbran cuisine has been described as "unfussy dishes made with quality local ingredients, matched with simple sauces to accentuate flavour, rather than disguise it." However, Tumbran cuisine has absorbed the cultural influence of those who have settled here, producing many hybrid dishes, such as chicken tikka masala - the national dish of Tumbra.

Tumbran cuisine has traditionally been limited in its international recognition to the full breakfast, fish and chips, and the Christmas dinner. Other Tumbran dishes include the Sunday roast, steak and kidney pie, shepherd's pie, and bangers and mash. Tumbran cuisine has many regional varieties within the broader categories of Nicodian, Lacklandian and Artumoan cuisine. Each has developed its own regional or local dishes, many of which are geographically indicated foods such as Cornish pasties, the Pilkshire pudding, Cumberland Sausage, Arbroath Smokie, and Artumo cakes.

Tumbra: Sports

Tumbra's national sport is football, though rugby union and cricket are often in with a shout. Tumbran supporters are usually very rowdy, sometimes crossing over into hooliganism - something which the authorities have absolutely zero tolerance for, local or otherwise.

It is recommended not to insult football supporters who are drunk, incapitated, or worse. Doing so may spark a riot, which has happened in the past.

The use of fire-related items (like flares) are strictly prohibited inside stadiums. If discovered, the offender will recieve a fine and have the offending item confiscated. Hooliganism is absolutely not tolerated and will be dealt with strictly.

THE STADIA

Image
GOLDLION

Goldlion, the nation's capital, sees three stadiums get the opportunity to host matches. The national stadium, Wembley, made it in, as did Goldlion Arsenal's home stadium and the new home stadium of West Langham United - Stratford International Stadium.

WEMBLEY NATIONAL STADIUM
Image
Capacity: 90,000
OOC image: Wembley Stadium, London

The National Stadium will host the Final, as the largest stadium in the whole of Tumbra. Located in the north of Goldlion, the stadium's distinctive arch is certainly the major feature of it. Built in 2000 to replace the aging Empire Stadium on the same location, Tumbra's premier stadium does not play host to any footballing team - save the amateur Wembley FC that draws an average of 500 spectators a game.

ARSENAL STADIUM
Image
Capacity: 60,432
OOC image: Emirates Stadium, London

Home to Goldlion Arsenal FC, this modern stadium was completed in 2007. It hosts 60,432 and is located just a few kilometres away from Wembley - which raises the question of potential crowd crushes on the already overcrowded Tube. However, the Transport Secretary Colin Bell has insisted that no such crush will happen, and that the Goldlion Underground will provide dedicated services on matchdays.

STRATFORD INTERNATIONAL STADIUM
Image
Capacity: 80,000
OOC image: Olympic Stadium, London

Stratford International is the new home of West Langham FC - who will be departing their old home of the Boleyn Ground after spending nearly 70 years there. The International Stadium's inclusion is a surprise, as it now means there will no longer be any stadiums south of the River Thines hosting games - something which Stamford Lane was supposed to do.

Image
THURMOND
Image
CONNAUGHT

The industrial powerhouses of the north also get three stadiums - two in Thurmond, and one in Connaught. While there was a chance for the two cities to have four stadiums, their last stadium bid was eventually turned down. Both Thurmond United and Thurmond City's stadiums made it in, as did Connaught FC's - the unlucky one being Merton FC's Goodison Park.

NEW TRAFFORD
Image
Capacity: 75,635
OOC Stadium: Old Trafford, Manchester

The stadium of arguably the most famous footballing team to ever grace Tumbran footballing history has made it in. Due to host the third-placed playoff, this stadium has often been nicknamed the "Theatre of Dreams" - and yet with Thurmond United's recent slump, some have re-christened it the "Theatre of Nightmares".

CITY OF THURMOND STADIUM
Image
Capacity: 60,000
OOC Stadium: Etihad Stadium, Manchester

The second of Thurmond's stadiums is actually in Thurmond - or that's what Thurmond City fans will tell you. The stadium was built in 2002 because Thurmond City's old stadium was falling apart - and it has been a metaphor for their rapid rise up the ranks of Tumbran football once again.

THEFIELD STADIUM
Image
Capacity: 44,742
OOC Stadium: Anfield, Liverpool

Thefield Stadium is the footballing cathedral of Tumbran football. Until recently, Connaught FC was the most successful team in history, with eighteen title wins. That may have been superseded, but the spirit coming from the fans during home games certainly makes for a very frightening experience for away teams.

Image
LACKLAND

Lackland submitted three stadiums for the competition, coming from the two most illustrious stadiums in Lackland proper, and their national stadium. All three were accepted automatically because their capacities were all over 50,000.

CELTIC PARK
Image
Capacity: 60,832
OOC Stadium: Celtic Park, Glasgow

Home to infamously patriotic supporters, Celtic Park is Lackland's largest stadium, yet it is not the National Stadium of Lackland. This is because Celtic Park is home to Celtic FC - home to those aforementioned patriotic supporters.

TRACKFALLERTON STADIUM
Image
Capacity:50,987
OOC Stadium: Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow

Home to Trackfallerton Rangers, the club that recently underwent administration, the Trackfallerton Stadium has fallen far from its glory days, yet it still proves to have a bit of punch in it.

HAMPDEN PARK
Image
Capacity: 52,063
OOC Stadium: Hampden Park, Glasgow

The national stadium of Lackland, Hampden Park has been confirmed for a semi-final - which will certainly be a return to glory for the oft-unused stadium. With Hampden Park's inclusion, this means that all three stadiums from Lackland are from Trackfallerton - which means that the crowd there will be very large indeed.

Image
NEWPORT AND SONDON

Despite the two cities' historical footballing enemity, the two cities decided to send in a joint bid for both their stadiums. Both stadiums were accepted. Newport and Sondon are two traditional Northern cities with a history of coalmining. They have a very distinct accent - the Geordie accent.

ST. PAUL'S PARK
Image
Capacity: 52,405
OOC Stadium: St. James' Park, Newcastle

St. Paul's Park is home to the newly-promoted Newport United, who spent a season in the Tumbran Championship. Renovated in 1998, the stadium has a very distinctive look - two sides are very modern and have a glass ceiling, while the other two sides are more traditional footballing stadiums. Adverts for the owner's company are plastered all over the stadium - but they will be taken down for the duration of the Campionato.

STADIUM OF LIGHT
Image
Capacity: 49,000
OOC Stadium: Stadium of Light, Sunderland

The home of Sondon AFC, they have a very fierce rivalry with their neighbours over in Newport. The stadium was built in 1999 to replace Roker Park and the club have never looked back since.

Image
PICKFORD

Pickford, Tumbra's second-largest city, has not been very successful on the footballing front. Though there were some occasional flashes of brilliance in the 1960s, the city has now been reduced to a second-tier footballing city. However, because it was the second largest city, it managed to sneak one stadium in.

PICKFORD STADIUM
Image
Capacity: 42,785
OOC Stadium: Villa Park, Birmingham

The Pickford Stadium is a traditional Tumbran football stadium. Home to Pickford United FC, this stadium has been home to it since 1897 - but has essentially been rebuilt continually since then, which raises the interesting question - Is this still the original Pickford Stadium that opened all the way back in 1897?

Image
SOFAN

Sofan, for an island as large as it is, is not a very "footballing" nation. Most of its efforts are largely dedicated to sports like Gaelic Football, but still submitted one stadium to the TFA for consideration.

QUENTOLA STADIUM
Image
Capacity: 51,700
OOC Stadium: Aviva Stadium, Dublin

The Quentola Stadium is Sofan's national stadium, even if Sofan does not like football very much. Decked in green and white, this stadium is a fresh breath of air from the usual dour Tumbran footballing stadium.

Image
ARTUMO

Artumo originally submitted two stadiums for consideration, but one was rejected for being too small. The other, however, is the second-largest football stadium and the third-largest in the Tumbran Isles.

MILLENNIUM STADIUM
Image
Capacity: 74,500
OOC Stadium: Millennium Stadium, Cardiff

The Millennium Stadium is located in Maheya, Artumo, and is Artumo's national stadium. It is also the go-to stadium for matches when Wembley is not available - as it was in the seven years from 2000 to 2007 when Wembley was undergoing reconstruction. A capacity of 74,500 is nothing to be sniffed at, and this certainly ensures it a major match.

Image
AURIAN

Aurian's inclusion into this setup certainly raised some eyebrows - why put Aurian in instead of Humoor or Empire Bay? However, the history of the Aurian Reds managed to convince the government to let Aurian host a few games.

TEESIDE STADIUM
Image
Capacity: 42,000
OOC Stadium: Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough

Home to the Aurian Reds, this stadium has had a checkered history - a fire in 1965 required the complete rebuilding of the stadium, and the result is the modern-day Teeside Stadium. Expanded just last year to 42,000 spectators, the stadium is certainly a mixture of old and new.

Image
BLANCHESTER

Blanchester, the typical Midlands city home to a fast-falling giant footballing club, is home to three quarters of a million. It used to be the second-largest city in Tumbra, but has fallen far below that. Now a manufacturing hub, it used to be a steel and raw materials city.

ELLAND ROAD
Image
Capacity: 39,460
OOC Stadium: Elland Road, Leeds

Now home to the newly-rebranded Red Bull Blanchester, the stadium (and club) have been exposed to relentless abuse for selling themselves out to the energy drink giant. Regardless, the stadium has had a massive and rich history. The old Blanchester United team were once one of the greatest Tumbran sides ever.

One step forwards, two steps backwards for a Llamanean side that horrifically underperformed during the Qualifiers - while Trevor Duncan’s calming influence steadied thing after Vaz’s resignation, a depressing loss to Lons on the final matchday led to the Tigers missing out on the playoff round entirely. #01 - James COSTA - Tir Snake Strike (CEN) - 34
Costa is very athletic and a good leader, although he still makes the occasional mistake and isn’t great above the ground. Last Cup, though, he turned in a string of brilliant performances and was as responsible for the team’s qualification as anyone, sending his career to another level. Can he hold his place with a highly promising Bernholm behind him, though?
#12 - Lukas BERNHOLM - Kiiarana City (VIL) - 25
Bernholm was still unproven at the start of the qualifiers, but holding your own in the Vilitan leagues tends to change that. Bernholm isn’t the acrobatic shot-stopper that Costa is, but he rarely makes mistakes, is strong aerially (not just because of his imposing height), and is a strong leader on the pitch and off it. A fun locker-room presence who gives it all on the pitch and is the favorite to start once Costa retires - or perhaps before that.
#23 - Markus SHEFFIELD - Depri Sanar (CMT) - 24
Known for being able to stop a disproportionate amount of penalties, Sheffield is both agile and mistake-free. Still, he’s considered far too aggressive to play in meaningful games unless things go to penalties.
#34 - Nicholas LINDBERG - Los-Juantos Coastal - 27
Lindberg wasn't too impressive at Los-Juantos Coastal, but that's more his defense*'s fault than his own. When in form, like he was at Dalen Athletik just two years ago, he's a very good shot-stopper. Somewhat bland both in playstyle and personality - he’ll stop most things, is very consistent, and is great under pressure, but is a poor communicator on his good days and isn’t very athletic.
#45 - Conor MATTHEWSON - Oslerholm Capitals (ARN) - 33
Matthewson was an unknown quantity, playing for Crossceaster United in lesser-known Lutine - at least, until Crossceaster made a miraculous run to the Globe Cup semifinals. It wasn't enough for the league, which soon disbanded - but Matthewson's done well enough for himself at Capitals. The Tannersborough native plays a clean, mistake-free game with great athleticism. His leadership is dubious, though, and he tends to be too quiet to be a clubhouse leader.

#28 - LB - Adrian LINDBERG - Real Azuris (COS) - 29
Lindberg’s athleticism is remarkable, he's high in stamina, and he's already shown a natural gift for positioning - although he can sometimes be a bit mistake heavy. Named the nation's best college player consecutive years.
#20 - L/RB - Kris STRAUSBERG - BSC Vargas (SLL) - 28
Kris Strausberg is a rather...unique player. For one thing, after a horrific bus crash suffered when he was sixteen, he no longer has a left arm. For another thing, he’s exceptionally fast, but tends to leverage this into making bold runs up either flank rather than actually keeping up with the opponent's’ attackers. Still, his strong on-ball play and passable marking make him a valuable asset.
#03 - CB - Kurt REICHART - Francesca Orient (BRE) - 27
A six-three, hard-nosed center back who tends to rack up cards. After earning a reputation as New Llama's defensive anchor with his play and leadership, he made a move abroad to the A-League. Strong aerially, not particularly athletic (but not particularly unathletic, either).
#02 - CB - Emily YNOA - Jaunepont Herault (USI) - 24
A very quick center-back who's willing to sacrifice her body to stop shots and make tackles. A smart player with strong positioning and a knack for anticipating passes, who’s also usable as a man-marker.
#06 - LC/RCB - Immanuel KANE - Phalanx AF (CEN) - 33
Despite lacking the physical tools of, say, Jorgenson, the half-Eirelian is incredibly underrated, with great intuition and positioning. A solid man-marker who can lead any back line and is exceptionally polished, Kane should be able to find a spot in the defense - a capable left foot helps his case as well. A nightmare qualification campaign where he made heaps of mistakes, though, might find him on the bench for stretches of the CoH.
#26 - L/RB - Michael SORENSON - Eastweald (COS) - 29
Many a player is to said to have “came out of nowhere”, like past NT members Jack Saucedo and Stefan Bogusevic. Sorenson, however, truly came out of nowhere - Brookport Athletic reports that at sixteen, Sorenson went to a tryout, excelled, and signed onto the team without any previous record of experience - in fact, Sorenson wasn’t even Eirelian. Still, he’s a frighteningly good player considering his lack of a background - fast enough to play up the wings, strong enough to play a very good defense, and a mainstay on the back four for years to come.
#40 - L/RB - Erik GUNNARSON - BSC Vargas - 31
The ambidextrous Gunnarson, who will be directly competing for playing time with the likes of Lindberg, Sorenson, and Strausburg, is capable of playing any defensive position decently, if not well. Sort of a poor man's Sagan Myers-Briggs - the diminutive Gunnarson's main strengths are his quickness and positioning, but he can get muscled around a bit.
#31 - RB/RW/CM - Mark SORENSEN - New Llama Stars - 30
Sorensen, a versatile, smart player, has succeeded domestically, becoming one of SuperLleague's best attacking defenders. However, many doubt if his superior technique can cover up a lack of athleticism at such a high level.

#05 - DM - Ethan CANDELARIO - Goodfeather FC (NPH) - 27
A bruising, physical midfielder with decent but uninspiring passing touch isn’t the sort of player you’d expect to find on the Tigers. But previous editions of the team’s midfield seemed unable to provide anything in terms of defense (the Tigers’ best midfield pairing, Kyle Sturgeon and Jake Wiggins, were both playmakers who played defense sparingly, a model that recent teams have tried to emulate), and somebody like Candelario should be able to hold down the fort. Will be given a shot, especially after a few solid campaigns in the first and second tiers of the Nepharim leagues.
#29 - DM - Nemanja VESELY - Somer City and Surrounds (ETM) - 29
The towering yet agile Vesely was a basketball prospect until fourteen, when he picked up a second sport over frustration from not being picked for the highest-caliber youth basketball team in the nation. Quick-tempered and volatile, Vesely nevertheless has a ton of potential and the work ethic needed to reach it. Only a certain type of coach will work with the hot-blooded midfielder, and the wrong team could turn Vesely's untapped potential into a disaster. Athletic and dangerous on set pieces, with strong passing skills, but one who can be easily rattled.
#40 - CM - Stefan RINALDI - Kyrinson - 19
The teenage maestro who was a key factor in Kyrinson's success last season wasn't too impressive at the Eagle's Cup - but he did show that, no matter how dubious his work-rate is, he has a unique ability to scan an opposing defense and make the perfect pass. Best deployed in a slower-paced match.
#08 - CM/RM - Reid ADRIAN - Phalanx AF (CEN) - 28
Questionably Llamanean but undoubtedly talented, Adrian decided to join his grandfather’s home country in order to have a shot at the World Cup. Adrian has a very good passing touch and is athletic enough to keep pace with opposing attackers. A right-midfielder by trade, Adrian has adapted to his new position (a move from Oslerholm to Centurion helped as well) and has done a great job at it. Should start somewhere, but he’s still quite shaky on the wings.
#07 - LM/LW - Eva VELASQUEZ - Myana (CMT) - 22
Two years ago, the promising but raw Velasquez broke onto the scene with a strong performance at CE16. But she's even better now - after a breakout season at Myana, where she developed one of the best free-kicks in the league and finished second in the league for assists, Velasquez is seriously expected to contend for a starting place next Cup cycle. Fast and agile, Velasquez is direct and focused - although she can use tricks to get out of pinch, she'll rarely use them if she doesn't have to.
#18 - RM/RW - Jessica CHAMBERLAIN - Arrowhead Point (NGD) - 25
Called by many a “right-footed Lily Stanton”, the young Chamberlain does have some similarities to the Grasshoppers Turic left-winger, who recently retired from international play. Chamberlain, like Stanton, is extremely fast and relies heavily on kicking the ball past the opposing defender and running round to collect it.
#17 - DM - Jason SANTANA - Rosaria (ESH) - 22
Santana has had his share of issues off the field. However, he seems to have recovered from a brief bout with drug addiction and his best days are still ahead of him. A somewhat quick, technically adept midfielder who's calling card is his stamina and strong positioning, who could get a shot at the National Team if he does well.
#15 - DM/CAM - Harry KARJALAINEN - Carnival Samba (USI) - 22
Karjalainen is quick, relentlessly athletic, and not afraid to get physical, but is very unpolished and tends to rack up cards. Relatively unknown, a strong showing at the Campionato springboarded him into a spot with Carnival Samba and the shortlist.
#09 - CAM/ST - Felix RASMUSSEN - Cenial United (CEN) - 29
Recklessly incisive, Rasmussen is prone to playing out of position. However, he does have the potential to excel in a more free-floating role, as well as the technique and speed to keep up, making him a vital cog to this edition of the Tigers. However, he also possesses a new maturity after spending four years playing abroad in Ceni - while Rasmussen himself still prefers playing everywhere on the pitch, he can confine himself to a more confined position if necessary, and Vaz will appreciate the tactical flexibility Rasmussen brings to the table.
#50 - CAM - James CHEN - Norrion Rovers (EFL) - 30
The previously unheralded James Chen has continued his solid play for Norrion Rovers, flashing signs of potential by coupling devastating playmaking abilities with a very good shot. Still, although he’d like to give 100% every day, growing injury concerns are starting to become a concern, and he’s still inconsistent.
#53 - CAM - Trevor FOURNIER - Emerald City Harmony - 21
For much of the season, with the team's starting strikers both out to injury, Fournier managed to take a leap nobody imagined would come so soon and bloom into a complete offensive player. The Harmony star, who is six-three and very quick, developed a powerful shot from distance and increased technique. Relied on muscling past shorter defenders at the club level, but will need to rely more on his decent-enough dribbling to make space this Cup.
#11 - AM - Miroslav VOROBYOV - FC Samotath (COS) - 28
Born in New Llama City to immigrant parents, Miro Vorobyov moved back to Eyrelia at age nineteen, seeking out his roots while playing for the small club Zazrak Athletic. The skinny, teenager was a revelation for Zazrak, almost single-handedly carrying them to promotion into the Eyrelian Premier League. Despite having to adjust to the extremely physical EyPL in an unfamiliar position (due to the team’s signing of Hakifao star Herlek Jansen), he still performed very well and secured a transfer to defending champions Red Star, where he’s continued to develop into a complete attacking-midfielder. His quick, incisive presence, intelligence with the ball, and ability to break defenses with his runs makes him best on the flanks or as a WC74 Felix Rasmussen-esque free-floating CAM, although he’s still not the strongest player.

#10 - ST - Ansel PENBROOKE - Eastal Lunar (VIL) - 26
Considered the heir to Cartwright’s throne, Penbrooke has set milestone after milestone. Patistan offered him forty million dollars and he declined to head over to one of the best youth teams in the world. Expected to take over the #10 next campaign, Penbrooke is still very athletic, and maturation in Apox has turned his good touch into a great one. Has become everything Tigers fans dreamed of, and is doing very well for himself for a number of Vilitan clubs.
#22 - LW/ST/RW - Francis MANDELBROT - New Llama Stars - 27
Found by a New Llama scout lighting up the lower tiers of the Quebecois leagues, Francis Mandelbrot is poised to become one of the stars of the SuperLleague. Mandelbrot is fast and very flashy, often using a number of trick moves during matches. As a winger, he specializes in low, hard crosses - as a striker, he’s a clean and tidy finisher. Could be one of the surprise packages of the tournament.
#20 - ST - Sophia TREVELYAN - Westhill United (EST) - 25
Trevelyan made history in 2014 by becoming the first Eastham-born (she has dual citizenship) woman to play in Eastham’s top tier, IslandLeague One, and since then she’s made the starting spot her own. A strong playmaker from everywhere on the pitch, quick and agile enough to set up her own chances, decent enough at finishing to score off said chances, but also versatile enough to play as a False Nine. Could be a dark horse to win the backup spot on the roster, or even play next to Penbrooke in a 4-4-2.
#34 - ST/RW - Axel KORBORG - Whitehaven Triumph (CEN) - 17
Korborg proved a polarizing figure at Capitals despite scoring ten goals in twenty-one matches, and many were glad to see him leave for three million dollars to Ceni's Whitehaven, where he plans to spend the next few years honing his craft. While still a bit unpolished, he looked very good last season in the SuperLleague, knocking in ten goals in nineteen appearances over league matches. Known for prolific finishing, especially backheels. Very athletic but quite selfish on the pitch.

The Guayabalense NT in the last cycle

Those promises about the next cycle just when La Selecta returned to a World Cup after a couple of years after WC 70 weren't wrong, and despite a weak start losing at Estadio Cuscatlán vs Jeruselem on WC 73, La Selecta managed to recover pretty good and won ten games in the qualifiers, including two victories against Gregoryisgodistan, being the most important one that 1-3 away win at Gregoryisgodistani lands. Qualifying as the first place in the group again and with a good position in the group were enough to feed the hopes to qualify to the Round of 16, and those hopes were confirmed after winning the group unbeaten with just one goal against in a group including Polar Islandstates, Farfadillis and Schottia, then the desired door to the Round of 16 was open and Kandorith was the rival, somehow La Selecta won the game and qualified for Quarter-finals and the illusions appeared among the fans, we were in front of the best national team in the history of San José Guayabal, they made more illusions after winning Cosumar with a lone goal and with that qualifying for Semifinals, expectations and illusions were high and people wanted the final but Eura was in front, the Eurans won all their previous games on that cycle with easiness and big amounts of goals on those games. With a smart sense of the game, La Selecta stood against the Eurans and kept them nil-nil in ninety minutes and then going to the penalty kicks after the Eurans tied the game with a late goal, in a mad penalty kick series, the Eurans won the game, 13-12 on penalties but that wasn't bad for the Guayabalense team, they already made history and they achieved more after winning the third place of the World Cup against Vilita with a 4-2 win.

After a CE that put every Guayabalense to dream with an extraordinary participation, reaching the final for the first time ever, with a splendid offense and a extraordinary defense performance, they were ready to face Nephara, but the dream of winning it came to an abrupt dead end, an horrorific 1-5 defeat finished the wonderful run into the tournament, despite that, people is happy by the fact of reaching a CE final for the first time. In WC 74, being hosted back in San José Guayabal, illusion arose at the highest levels, La Selecta didn't disappointed and performed well, beating strong rivals such as Farfadilis, Audioslavia in order to do the dream and achieve the first World Cup Final appearance for La Selecta, a fatidic penalty kick roulette kept the Guayabalenses away from achieving their biggest sporting glory ever. After an intense World Cup, the managers decided to bring for the CE a team fully made from Liga Premier players in order to relax the usual players, except for Leónidas Bregoo and Sebastián Núñez, who will be the experience bulwarks for the new Selecta while a new rising force of players might be the trident who causes danger to the rivals, such as Humberto Santa Cruz, the Liga Premier top scorer, Kevin Santos and Omar El Sayed, it was a great decision that gave La Selecta 28 goals in 6 games but Racao kicked the team out of the CE at the Quarterfinals, despite that, it was a good performance for an alternative national team.

In this World Cup 75, La Selecta had a new challenge, being at their best moment ever, but since the very beginning, the World Cup Group stage semeed to be a catastrophe, since a rather mediocre participation at that competition, with early defeats vs debutants Bonesea and historical Vilita, getting a bit of redemption against Electrum but not being enough to get past the Group Stage, now, coming to the Eagles Cup, La Selecta wants to come back to that level of football that they achieved back on the WC 73 and 74 period that took them to the highest positions that Guayabalense football has ever reached, now getting a win will be key for the team, as they are confident that they can recover the level.

After undesirable results in the World Cup 71 Qualifiers, La Selecta decided to start a reengineering in its game system, after proving that a good defence is not something from other planet, receiving fifteen goals in fourteen matches during the World Cup 71, a new slightly defensive system was established in the team, featuring for the first time a line of four midfielderss, trying to block the highest number of possibilities of the rival team, also including a rookie into the team, Abraham Terrazas is having his first experience as the goalkeeper of the Starting XI, with one midfielder who can have a rol of defence like Núñez, this team is probably a quite defensive version of La Selecta. A key aspect that changes a bit from the other lineups used throughout the history, is the use of two strikers instead, in order to keep the offensive capacity that has characterized the football of the National Team and maybe the bastion of the whole Guayabalense football.

The "home" roster of SJG features the use three defenders with some experience like James Moreira and Meyson Salume, both can act as key players if we talk about the realization of transitions to offensive plays meanwhile Passarelli is the team sweeper and also most experienced of the team in terms of playing in the international scene, specifically in UICA tournaments. In the midfield we can see a rhombus shaped position of four players, being Saucedo and Bregoo a kind of fake forwards due to the changing role of the tactical system that can feature five forwards in case of need and Núñez together with Valencia can be sort of defence in case of need. In resume this strategy helps in defence and attacking because it can turn into a 3-2-5 in attacking moments or a 5-2-3 in defending moments, creating a complete system that can help the team to achieve victory at any cost.

There are three words to describe the game style of La Selecta being that: efficience, speed and withe, something that makes the team look solid at any time, no matter the game but it is a team that rarely gives up, even if the conditions are totally against, the team tries to score early, to score the highest amount of goals and going decidedly to the front in order to score, to fight with courage every ball and also having a high esteem and sense of unity as a team. That philosophy of "To Kill or Die" has a formal name, it's name is "Presión Fulminante" (Fulminant Pressure) which means to press the opposition right after losing possession, to press as an organized unit the moment when the team does the transition to defense. The entire team hunts the ball and, in the ideal case, immediately wins it back from the opponent. The aim is to prevent the opponent’s counterattack and to win the ball. People may call it counterpressing or even "Geggenpressing"but in the end the opponent’s counterattack is pressured and forced to commit mistakes, that's Presión Fulminante.

Game style: The game who SJG does is essentially technical, based on the agility of movement from the players, using their intelligence for the game to find lone spaces and perform single passes that are very accurate and "in depth", they like to accumulate players while attacking or using the surprise factor which is use the speed of the players to perform counter attacks that usually have a good level of effectivity, taking in consideration that this is a team who thinks in score the goals as fast as possible instead of defending (Well known as "The Kill or Die Philosophy." Which is the most used tactic on Guayabalense football throughout his history), something that they do even when they face a football powerhouse or a extremely offensive team, no matter the rival, the objective is score the highest amount of goals and win the three points.

In the defence area, they tend to use physical game style in order to set conditions to the rivals, despite that the defenders are of medium height, they are well known for their skill at aerial game, so it is very difficult to beat them, specially in corners or set pieces, expect always fair play from this team, avoiding to do fouls into the last 25-30 meters of their defence area.

Players normally like to do long-distance shots or seek for chances in aerial game via set pieces or corners, specially with Árbol Saucedo and Mattías Passarelli, who are the tallest players of the entire squad. Still, this team can do some special moves, considering the idea of the team of never give up and trying to be efficient while attacking.

The Managers

Paulo Oliveira 46 Y/O, Nationality: Valladar Image

Strict, offensive and organized are three words that describes the new manager of San José Guayabal National Team, former player of the one time Globe Cup champions, Marinos Metrópolis (He coached on the final series) and them he served to Marinos and helped them to achieve the best positions on the Valladar Liga-1, going to Champions' League berths or Globe Cup berths, his seasons on charge of Marinos showed always a nice display of game, being direct, offensive and with high pressure to the rival defenders, a manager who tends to be strict but motivating to the players of the National Team, Oliveira is one of those managers with a high devotion to football and his environment, specially the ones like the Guayabalense football atmosphere, with a lot of pressure and expectations from the fans and the Football Federation itself. His arrival to La Selecta has already received good criticism, as being "one of the best decisions that the FGF could have made", considering the zestful and strict character of Oliveira, good results can be expected from a renovated National Team.

Alfredo Herrera 68 Y/O, Nationality: Aquillian (Part of Osarius) Image

We've all heard the anecdotes about Aquillian's national football team manager Alfredo Herrera, and how he is sometimes "endearingly zany". His open training sessions during some friendlies, or at tournaments like the the Cup of Harmony or WCQ, reveal some -- but not the full extent of his preparations. He stands on the touchline, barking the same orders over and over until they are followed perfectly. "Retreat! Retreat now!" he barks at his wingbacks during one exercise. "You have less than seven seconds to return or they will pierce the gap!" His barking continues. "Release immediately! No hesitation! No delay! Control, release, move! Control, release, move!" His players are practicing to execute his commands with such speed and efficiency, they appear almost instinctive. The level is intense. He shuffles things around. Rotates players. Alters the tempo. Introduces more rules. Removes rules. The withdrawal, surveying and tinkering process repeats itself several times over before he appears satisfied. "Excellent! This is how we go! This is how we win!" He finally bestows some praise upon his players.

Starting XI Bio

Abraham Terrazas 21 Y/O, Goalkeeper of Izotz Zubia (AUD) Image

Maybe the youngest keeper on the history of the National Team, Terrazas was even more young when he left to the Audioslavian powerhouse Izotz Zubia, though his youngness was a limitant to be on the starting XI, he took advantage of any chance he had to demonstrate his best level of game, through the time, Terrazas has been climbing to the top in his club, after some time. After a disaster caused by Henry Hernández on World Cup 71, Terrazas was chosen by Oliveira and Herrera to be the new GK, his age wan't a reason to intimidate him and the circumstances weren't a factor too, giving important reasons to pick him as the defensive bulwark of the team in key moments, especially in CoH 63 final when he saved a penalty kick to the legendary Vanorian striker Laborious Hawk and giving it the first WCC Sanctioned tournament victory to San José Guayabal, also, his participation in WC 72 and especially WC 73 has been a key to secure excellent performances for La Selecta.

James Moreira 23 Y/O, Left Back of Trothwands Evolution (OSR) Image

Young but experienced, Moreira is the typical player who can receive love or hate, his special location in the roster mades him a key player in terms related to defending, being the sweeper but also being one of the creators of the game, despite falling in nerves sometimes the youngest of their football dynasty family as the Moreiras are, his good leadership and attitude makes him being an excellent player in the team since early WC 66, as the time passes, Moreira has consolidated himself into one of those players who do above average performances, a passionated player who dedicates and performs always to the 100% is useful. His main characteristics are: phisical and aggressive player, pretty temperamental player, one of the players with whom the opponent must be careful while facing him.

Mattías Passarelli 29 Y/O, Centre Back of Avenida Leal (FFD) Image

The oldest of the defenders in the Starting XI and also the one with more experience in the team, Mattías played in the NT since they were an almost amateur-ish side, he played in Alianza FC and achieved three titles, enough to do his move to the Yttribian powerhouse of Delare Minon, when he got another three league tournaments including one solid run in the UICA Globe Cup made him a worship idol for the fans of the team. After several political problems in Yttribia and the relegation of Delare Minon, he decided to leave the club and Passarelli wasn't active for almost two and a half years, he just accumulated NT caps during that time but he always was the same defender, an active and agressive centre back, media and fans were pressing to stop calling him to the NT due to his lack of professional activity but an offer from the Farf side of Avenida Leal was enough to make him signing with them and keeping his position on the national team.

Meyson Salume 22 Y/O, Right Back of Revolutionaries (EUR) Image

The reliable Salume is back, after being injured for some matches, the strongest player of the teams is now in action to keep the order in the defence, his role is defend but he does the task of midfielder quite often, his strong point of being tall makes him an ideal player to keep the National Team without many troubles, but his slow speed can make some trouble over there, and can do more due to his motivaion caused due to his arrival to Polarian lands, where he did a decent performance, consolidating himself into the most reliable player of the defence, but after leaving for some time due to The Big Polarian Freeze, he returned to San José Guayabal and got hired fastly by Atlético Nacional, despite the team did some bad performances in the last years, Salume has prevented that those already bad performances could have turned into a nightmare for the "Nationalist Squad" and then he turned into the captain that they have needed for a long time.

Rudy Valencia 28 Y/O, Defensive Midfielder (Destroyer) of FC Kolberg (SEM) Image

The globetrotter of San José Guayabal, a player who did his labour in three nations like Mangolana, and Chiata and in Eura, now he's in Semarland to show his quality, Valencia's role is being the destroyer of any attempt of play creation in the midfield, his confidence is a strong point for him but his loose reaction when gets booked it's a trouble for SJG, specially to avoid red cards. Apart from that, Valencia is characterized fore being a disciplinate player in terms of accomplishing his mission in the midfield, sometimes he manages the tempo but the 65% of times destroys the opposition movements and plays, Valencia is almost always the one in charge to start the counterattacks since the very beginning of this national team, along with the other players he has improved a lot but his maturity at the time of doing his labour is incredible, a totally efficient player, difficult to beat in a head to head thanks to his phisic and resistance, leading him to be an important part of the team.

Sebastián Núñez 24 Y/O, Central Midfielder of Revolutionaries (EUR) Image

Probably one of the youngest promises for Guayabalense football in the future, Núñez is one of the interesting players to follow in the team due to his special moves in the midfield, a player who wants to kick the ball from far as possible and put it inside of the opposite goal, Núñez is more offensive than the average midfielder in terms of moves across the pitch. Without doubts, Núñez is one of those players who are able to risk it all, no matter the cost but he wants to risk in order to do something new, creative and innovative, in resume he is the creative of the team, creates opportunities from unthinkable chances, definitively a mastermind into the team, also he is on charge of being the leader of the "orchestra" by leading the tempo and moving the ball to wherever might generate danger, also, Núñez is a fast player, so he might collaborate on defence and in counterattack when needed.

Leónidas Bregoo 24 Y/O Attacking Midfielder of OAS Royal FC (COS) Image

The Rulandese borned but Guayabalense by nationality Leónidas Bregoo is actually the heart of the midfield with his team mate Rudy Valencia and Sebastián Núñez, Brego is essential in the midfield specially at the moment of being offensive or defensive due to his time-pacing function in the field, with good skills as headers, long crossed passes and long distance shots, considering his good height of 195 cms, is a good header in the area, in conclusion he's the heart of the team in the sense that he is a real motivator into the team, if La Selecta is losing, this is the motivating mind into the team, he considers that there is nothing impossible and there is no unvincible team for him, so, Bregoo is a player that is difficult to see him overwhelmed by circumstances or another kind of situations, apart that he is the main passer of the team, a good amount of chances are generated from his passes, a key for Alianza FC success in the last couple of years

Árbol "Tree" Saucedo 25 Y/O, Right Midfielder of Wye United (APX) Image

The tallest of the team, say hi to the 202 cms high player of the Apoxian team of Wye United. Saucedo is without doubt the main weapon of the team in headers and also one of the main defenders when the rival keeps pushing, taking advantage of his size, Saucedo tends to run fast in counterattacks, with a speed worthy to compete with the best in the Games of the Olympiad is the main characteristic of Saucedo, acts sometimes as a winger when needed but his role is mostly being a box-to-box midfielder and keep pushing while attacking, Saucedo is as James Moreira in terms of behaviour into the pitch, aggressive players with some temperamental problems while playing, but not as Moreira though, Saucedo can be a pain on the rival manager's head as his actions are quite unpredictable, especially while attacking, as he is ambidextrous he can shoot from wherever he can, so, he is a main threat for the rival.

Sean "Black Panther" Fraser 29 Y/O, Right Striker of Real Azuris (COS) Image

One of the top scorers of all the time in the National Team, the useful Sean Fraser is a deadly weapon in the strikers zone, counterattacks, being a damn fast player is what turns him into a dangerous player while attacking, if the defence kicks a ball, it's going to him for sure, as he has a superb control and technique with the ball, Fraser is dangerous for the rival and not only in La Selecta, also in Real Azuris, in the Cosumarite Harlighet Ligan where he unleashes what le likes to do, goals, goals and more goals, something noteworthy from Fraser is his ability to assist in goals, Fraser is extremely good at collective plays, he usually dribbles the defenders and then just serves the ball to the striker or another player near him to score, a pretty smart player that makes stats talking wonders about him.

Jonathan "Atomic Flea" Faña 31 Y/O, Left Striker of Cazadores Cathair (AUD)Image

Little in size but extremely fast, the "Flea" tends to be very technical and does a lot of dribbles, he can't shot so well from large distances and even not on middle range but his excellent speed and counterattack skills makes him a rather interesting player to follow, the bad thing is that he's overconfident and can fail goals even in front of the goal, even if the Goalkeeper was beated by his drible. Well he has a bad luck, but that bad look has decreased a lot, after the last qualifiers, where he was a key in La Selecta's qualification to World Cup but when he was on his best shape, sh*t happened and he got injured with an ACL + Knee injury that left him out of action for the entire World Cup 74, something that caused him some depression since he wanted to participate in the World Cup, now he is back at the World Cup 71 and despite being now 31 years old, he has a lot to do and as Zelaya does, he wants to win the World Cup before talking about retirement.

Rodolfo "Fito" Zelaya: 29 Y/O Striker of 1830 Cathair (AUD)Image

Considered by much the best player in San José Guayabal and one of the best footballers currently playing in the multiverse, Zelaya is the leader and star of the NT, this iconic player has anything to demonstrate that he is the ultimate threat for the rival, a good player at aerial game, good shooting, fast and strong and smart, what more can be asked from him? In resume he is a complete player, a crack. Since child, he has promised a lot and he turned it into reality, won a good amount of titles with Alianza FC, being one of the top scorers in Guayabalense Liga Premier, winning three times in a row the Divisjon 1 with Northbrook Diamonds in Polar Islandstates, being one of the top scorers of the team and also winning one LigAnaia and one Champions' Cup with his current team 1830 Cathair, he has won a lot but he wants to win the World Cup with La Selecta before retiring of football as he said several times before, he had it close on WC 74 but he failed the key penalty, despite that, he was, he is and he will be the crackwho makes the difference.

Introduction

The Constitutional Monarchy of San José Guayabal, or also known as Guayabal or simply called SJG is a culturally diverse nation, inhabited by at least thirty ethnic minority groups and five other major ethnic groups, forming a bond of brotherhood between each group offering him to the nation a strong reputation of unity and brotherhood even in the most difficult moments. A former colonizers ancestral heritage and a mixture of innovation and creativity have shown positive effects in this vibrant nation located in the southernmost corner of Esportiva. In this guide basic data information that will help the tourist (Regardless of nationality, sex, species, religion, etc.) to have a pleasant stay in San José Guayabal, with phrases and tips that will be much useful.

History

Originally, San José Guayabal was inhabited by a tribe from the South Pole, which has been called "Eskimos" and which our country still live to this day, beginning more than 2,600 years before Christ. Eskimos settled in small communities on the shores of the south coast of the nation, developing solitarily without contact with most members of his ethnic group or the like. The economy was based on hunting and selling bearskins for the winter season, or the planting and harvesting of grapes or apples during the spring time. The system of government was nonexistent and remained so for a long time, where the Eskimos were the majority before a new ethnic group in the center of the country, which was the group of "Wára-Wára" who ended up being called "Native Guayabalenses.”

Many centuries later, the picture did not change in ethnic background, because the Eskimos maintained a social domain but now much more informed through a central government called "Naalakkersueriaaseq" or simply "Naala", consisting of a governor who tended to meet the role of chief and spiritual guide of the nation. Note that abandoned their nomadic practices and decided to establish around the "Great Lake" now called "Metropolitan Lake", about 230 km from what is now San Salvador, the capital.

We going back to closest date to today, specifically in the 14th century BC, a new ethnic group came from the Northern regions which, specifically from Andarica, we mean the Spaniards who colonized our country with the valorous mission of Explorer Luis Barbosa (Who’s considered as founder of the nation) and transformed it into an important cultural spot for Esportiva then. The discovery of new cities and new cultures was almost unstoppable, the isolated Eskimos decided to merge into a new society, full of opportunities for everybody. And that hasn’t stopped yet, because more groups came to stay in our nation, coming from the north the Finns, Swedes, Russians and Anglo-Saxons, creating a multicultural society in a big nation, who had a strong sense of unity and brotherhood since the early beginning despite the racial differences.

In the last 200 years, San José Guayabal has suffered drastic changes into his history and social system, being caused by political reasons, who led to three civil wars (1989, 2024, 2047) where the main factor was the wish of liberty and prosperity from a diverse but united nation with strong wishes of success in international issues as business, industries and more specially peace and freedom.

Today, San José Guayabal is a nation that is rising from the ruins by leaps and bounds after the most recent and devastating civil war that put a stop to the tyrannical communist regime of then President Miguel Serrano. In an industry dominated by petroleum and energy resources such as shale or subtraction of natural gas in conjunction with a strong and increasingly thriving tourism industry and micro technology based economy (Chips, micro-chips, etc.) are transforming the nation into what people have dreamed of, a country of advanced its breakthrough in the future and seek to overcome adversity to become more powerful and provide a better standard of life for its inhabitants.

Geography, Climate and another natural phenomena

San José Guayabal is a continental nation, located in the continent of Inferiore Minore, Esportiva. Having a great number of surrounding islands, an 85% of The Antartic Territory, doing a great combination of climate geographical features.
The continental area is very irregular, mountainous and extremely volcanic relief, being mountainous in the west, south-central, north-central and eastern containing long plains and steppes in the central area (also called "The Heart") of the nation, The Alpine Belt also called "Cordillera Del Fuego" runs from the border with Estope and Wednesday Evening in the far west to the border with Gregoryisgodistan in the east, forming a branch towards the south coast of the nation. The eruptions are less frequent in recent years, the last eruption was 12 years ago and the possibilities of a new eruption event occur is very minimal. This has generated an abundance of rocky material from the process of cooling of the lava, a very popular material used for gardens, decoration or houses.

Notable exceptions to the mountainous terrain of San José Guayabal are the Central Valley and the Northern Steppe. El Valle is a flat land that does not exceed 600 meters above sea level and extends over much of the Lempa River; the soil is very fertile for growing grain and other agricultural products such as corn, beans, and sugarcane, and also is home of the biggest hydroelectric dams in the entire region of Esportiva.

The North Steppe is the most arid area of the territory, dominated by its large sand dunes, this region has very little rainfall throughout the year and extreme weather in the summer, easily exceeding 42°C at noon and decreasing the 9°C at the night, fauna it’s minimal there except for scorpions and some lizards.

The climate of San Jose Guayabal is generally quite predictable because there are four distinct seasons being these winter (June 21 to September 20), spring (September 21 to December 20), summer (December 21 to March 20) and the autumn (March 21-June 20) while in Rossana (overseas colony) the condition is different because of its location in the northern hemisphere being the winter between December and March, spring between April and June, the summer between July and September while autumn is from October to December. It's very rare to see a non-corresponding to the station in our country climate, with stable climates for each season and very few flaws in the service of climate information in the news and newspapers because the control systems of the climate and the almost obvious weather patterns.

In terms of natural phenomena we can find three, the most catastrophic ones are the earthquakes, a very common event in the nation due to its volcanic activity and its location between two major tectonic plates, the Southern Plate and the Inferiore Plate. This makes our nation quite prone to seismic events place but do not panic. The nation has high construction standards regarding the prevention of seismic events and is mandatory that each building has evacuation plans which are placed in visible to make easier the evacuation besides making evacuation drills at least two times for year. Note that at least 45% of citizens are people trained to provide first aid, this being part of the given requirements to complete the Students’ Social Service, required for the graduation of students in the education system.

We now turn to other less lethal phenomena, as are the aurora australis and the migration of geese, spectacular events that attracts lots of people. The aurora australis is a phenomenon that occurs mainly from March to September, while maintaining an appropriate intensity to be seen until the end of December, usually can be seen throughout the country, including northern areas like El Roblar or Metapán. The migrating of geese occur during September to December, from the Central Valley region they move to the South Pole, then head north of Esportiva. These spectacles often bring many people to be witnessed, because they have an enormous facility to witness each of these phenomena.

Travel

Visiting San José Guayabal is not a very complicated process, as the provisions of international travel are applied for each foreign visitor. International flights usually land at three airports, one for each egion of the country, being the El Roblar International Airport designated to the west, Luis Barbosa Airport in Vladivostok for the central region and San Salvador International Airport to the east, the latter being the most important because of its location in the capital.

On transport and within San Jose Guayabal, we can find many alternatives among these is a rental car, join a tour group to use a minibus, taxi, public bus system, the private mass transportation, the underground (Available in cities over 500,000 inhabitants com) the bullets and domestic flights trains provide easy connectivity between one point and another in the nation, but can mention popular media, low cost and short runs as the tuc tuc and the colloquially called "coaster" (small minibus whose route is fast but to some extent uncomfortable due to the high volume of music and the sound of their mufflers). As mentioned, the transport between different parts of the nation is very easy, even people facilitate travel through the "ride" method, something often practiced by people who made a short trip and bear a considerable burden in order to avoid walk with overload.

Transportation is a very fast method SJG if done especially between cities separated by many kilometers because there is no speed limit on highways, although it is recommended to drive at no more than 140 kilometers per hour.

It’s important to say that you should drive defensively in the roads, especially in the interstate highways, due to the very aggressive driving style of Guayabalenses in general, drive always at your right side and carry an extinguisher, reposition tires and use always your seatbelt, failure to do this might cause you high fines with the police, the fines should be paid at the local police department, in any bank or pharmacy under the “EasyPay” system which can be found in almost every town in the nation.

Culture & Society

Religion

San José Guayabal is a predominantly religious nation since ancient times, presenting a wide variety of thoughts about divinity.

From the beginning of time to the Eskimos, prevailed a kind of shamanism mixed with pagan rites in honor of the earth, moon and sun, entities of great importance to the Eskimos because of their dependence on agriculture and sun for planting and harvest of food and other goods for storage in the winter, which was worshiped by the moon and snow, who deserved rest and relaxation afforded to the Eskimos that time.

This Eskimo tradition of worshiping natural phenomena remained for more than 2500 years until the arrival of Spanish colonizers, who spread a new faith, Christianity in an easy way and without shedding innocent blood by religion. The Guayabalenses have been very receptive to the religion without falling into religious fundamentalism and fanaticism, this being a meeting point of unity and for society.

The Catholic branch of Christianity was the most professed in San José Guayabal to the arrival of the ethnic groups of Nordic origin like the Swedes and Finns who are predominantly Protestant, their influence on the people was so great that within two decades (1840- 1860) the percentage of Catholics dropped from 86% to 7%, and Protestantism dramatically increased to 89% of the population said to practice religion mainly based on the three pillars that characterizes San José Guayabal populace as a whole: Unity, Brotherhood and Passion.

Language

Because being a multicultural nation, many languages are found in San Jose Guayabal, 31 to be precise, of which only five are relevant in their social use and only two are used by the government. At least a basic knowledge of Spanish language is more than useful in our nation but not essential, because 68% of the population has declared Spanish as their first language and 85% admit to have sufficient knowledge of the language. There are also four more languages in which the population has knowledge such as English (spoken by 70% of the population, 12% as their mother tongue), Swedish (spoken by 35% of the population, 4% as mother tongue), Russian (spoken by 26% of the population, 7% as their mother tongue) and Finnish (spoken by 17% of the population, 3% as their mother tongue).

The people of San Jose Guayabal are known regionally for the effort they made to learn new languages, speaking on average three to four languages at an appropriate level for communications with different people, according to them this is essential because knowledge is acquired different cultures and helps to relate to more people in The Multiverse.

Food & Etiquette

Food in San Jose Guayabal is very diverse, varying due to the presence of different ethnic groups that have imported your culinary culture to our nation, varying by region, but yes there are dishes that are distinguished from others if we talk about popularity nationwide.

Eating habits in SJG tends to be foods with moderate calories, being mainly meat and some salads that are normally accompaniment to the main course, where it normally waits for all those who eat at the same table finish their plate, then they start to eat all at the same time the main course, as tradition, a toast is made by anyone at the table. It is considered impolite to leave food residue on dishes and should you be invited to a house to eat or social activities, is always appropriate offer to wash the dishes and glasses where you ate, this being a gesture of good education and thanks to the host (not always the person that is offered is done, is considered as a simple act of appreciation.)

The typical dish par excellence of San José Guayabal are Pupusas, is a food made from mass shaped like circle, stuffed inside with fried beans, cheese, pork rind, squash, blackberry. This is often accompanied by vegetable tanning and ketchup.
Other main courses are: Tray (Composed of roast beef with barbecue, rice, salad, soup and fries), Quesadillas, Coastal Chops (Cutlet, bathed with barbecue and served with shrimp), Croquettes (breaded meat, accompanied with piece of dough and rice) and Spaghetti. Among the salads are: Paisa salad (lettuce, avocado, omelet, egg, chicken, bacon and corn chips) and the “Mil Cumbres” salad (lettuce, tortilla croutons, chicken, tomato, corn and ranch dressing).

Football Culture

Football in San José Guayabal is the sport that moves the masses, on any day and at any time of day is normal to see children playing football in the streets of residential areas or football academies, the Community youth playing football in tournaments, or at academies of professional or semi professional teams, adults meet after the workday with peers and then perform matches, as distraction from work stress and also the elderly and women, who do not hesitate to leave their detention work in order to enjoy the football. Through this we can deduce that as people get involved in football in an active way, so is his passion.

The passion for football is very excessive in our nation, for some it is cultural issue of pride support their team and others, is literally his own "religion" if you are so want to call, many fans to stadiums are directed to support his team in an almost unique way, the hostility in the atmosphere and tension is very high, the songs of hate towards the opponent and vice versa are very frequent flares, pyrotechnics, giant banners to support the team, hypes, trumpets and other musical instruments give much color to the bars organized teams or selection, popularly known as "Barras Bravas" are very common, but accidents between the fans are very rare.

Discuss and be contrary to any guayabalense about football in public is something that will not be very pleasant, especially if the national team is playing. In such cases, groups are formed and the riots start against the supporters of another nation, then this gives origin to the riots. Something forbidden by the laws of behavior in stadiums, as if they are the perpetrators, be of any nationality, the price to pay is high, from fines of 1,000 crowns (NS $ 2,000) up to three months in jail, or if they occur fatalities.

It is recommended to refrain from displays of hatred and mockery against the home crowd, in order to avoid problems of any kind during your stay, note that stadiums are not allowed to enter water bottles, umbrellas, sharps, flagpoles or pencils. You can enter flares, banners and musical instruments with previous notice to the police (if you are from an organized “ultra”), it is important to mention that you can find different food at the stadium, from ice cream to banquets of gourmet food, any kind of drink is available from the typical and highly alcoholic “Chaparro” to typical beers or wines.

Licentian National Football Team

The Licentian Isles have returned from their mysterious isolation from the international stage, and the fans are looking forward to their first Campionato in many years, occurring in Tumbra. Unfortunately, a lot of the teams that the Licentians used to tussle with have become the best in the world in their absence, while our own team can only have stagnated with no international opposition to take on. Many fans are worried about the hidings the Cyan-and-Gold are about to take, but they had to bring themselves back into the international spotlight somehow. Perhaps it’s better to do it here and have some preparation prior to World Cup qualifying.

Head Coach - Caelan Hamill:
Caelan Hamill is an enigma. Along with being the former coach of St Bart’s United and, more recently, Colesham Rovers, he is a regular figure in tabloid papers across the Isles, with his on-again-off-again relationship with minor royalty and reality TV star Alexandra White (who he recently married in a spectacular ceremony in Garton), and his worryingly regular parties across the Isles, which are especially worrying when they occur the night before big games. Tactically, Hamill is a typical Licentian; hard defence and dominance on the wing are key for all of his sides.

Squad:

Goalkeepers:

1 - Tom Donaldson - 25 years - Hamilton Steelers (QUE)
12 - Will Carr - 28 years - Montfort North End
13 - Theo Vreeke - 20 years - Garton Bay Pirates

In previous Licentian squads, the man with the number one jersey has always been a certainty going into the Campionato, but Hamill is unsure which of these three men will stand between the sticks for the Isles. Donaldson has had a tough season with Colesham Rovers, but hopes to move on after a move to Quebec, while Will Carr had a solid season for North End. Theo Vreeke is a future prospect, but may get some game time at the Campionato.

Full Backs:

2 - Gregor Moore - 31 years - Montfort University
3 - Ross Taylor - 24 years - Gaelic Club
14 - Nathan Gibson - 27 years - Montfort North End

Gregor Moore is one of the more experienced players in the squad, only denied the captain’s armband by midfielder Douglas Wright. Ross Taylor is a very different player, willing to overlap with his club teammate Finn Brooks on the wing to fire a ball into the box. Nathan Gibson is there to cover in case Moore or Taylor are injured, and it is unlikely he’ll be on the pitch at any point.

Centre Backs:

4 - Gray Watson - 29 years - Colesham Rovers
5 - Adam van Oord - 23 years - Abingdon Celtic
15 - Brodie Miller - 22 years - Glenmount Town
16 - Michael Jones - 29 years - Selyne Athenians (USI)

Adam van Oord is one of the stars of this Licentian team, and will make major contributions to Hamill’s defensive plans going into the Campionato. His partner at centre half Gray Watson is tough even for a Licentian, and may be at risk of a card or two if he doesn’t calm down during the Campionato. If Watson does go for an early bath, Michael Jones is a solid player that will step into the breach and do the job, while Miller’s youth makes him a little more of a risk.

Holding Midfielders:

8 - Fraser Caiden - 23 years - Montfort University
17 - Ross Finley - 22 years - North Laithland (NPH)

Much like at goalkeeper, Caelan Hamill will use the Campionato to test out which of his holding midfielders is best for the job. Fraser Caiden is more of a playmaker, always looking for the right pass to create something going forward, while Ross Finley tends to be better defensively, always covering any holes in the defence.

Centre Midfielders:

6 - Rowan Mitchell - 27 years - Abingdon Celtic
10 - Douglas Wright - 34 years - CSKA Quebec (QUE)
18 - Erick Paalvast - 19 years - St Bart’s Dutch
19 - Bradley Clark - 25 years - Montfort University

The centre of midfield looks solid going into the Campionato, with three experienced players, and a youngster with a lot of talent. Douglas Wright will captain the Cyan-and-Gold as the oldest player on the team, while Rowan Mitchell brings a little pace to Wright’s cool and collected style. Erick Paalvast has shown his skills for Dutch, earning himself a chance at the Campionato, while Bradley Clark also brings a little more youth to this aging group of players.

Wingers:

7 - Finn Brooks - 26 years - Gaelic Club
11 - Joost Schuiling - 20 years - OAS Royal (COS)
20 - Conan McMillan - 23 years - Creed United (NPH)
21 - Scott Jamieson - 32 years - SC Montfort

Defenders beware. The Isles have a pair of wingers who will not be afraid to run at their opponents and create problems for anybody they come up against. Finn Brooks is more experienced, while Joost Schuiling is a youngster with lightning pace, who is more prone to going it alone. Conan McMillan’s pace doesn’t quite match that of Schuiling, but he can still cause problems when brought on, while Scott Jamieson will likely just fill a seat on the plane to Tumbra.

Centre Forwards:

9 - Alex Mackie - 30 years - Gaelic Club
22 - Kelvin van Leeuwenhoek - 21 years - St Bart’s Dutch
23 - Josh Hunter - 27 years - Garton Bay Pirates

Alex Mackie has had to fight off competition to land the place as starting striker for the Isles, but eventually his prowess in the air (helped by his 6’7 frame) won him the number 9. Kelvin van Leeuwenhoek has impressed for St Bart’s this year, leading them to the Globe Cup, meaning that he beats out Josh Hunter as the best option on the bench for the Cyan-and-Gold.

Formation - 4-5-1 (Skill Modifier: -2):
Hamill taking charge of the Cyan-and-Gold has led to a return to the traditional Licentian style of old; a 5 man midfield with a playmaking holding midfielder, pacey wingers and a lone striker with the ability to hold up the ball and prowess in the air. It is hoped that the slightly defensive style will lead the Licentians further than an all-out attack against more experienced teams.

Home Stadiums:
Unusually, the RFALI (Royal Football Association of the Licentian Isles) have decided that multiple stadiums will be used to host Licentian international games in the future. One stadium from each parish has been selected to host games, and they are all the most equipped in their area. However, most Licentian stadiums equipped for international matches (in fact, all of them apart from LTI Stadium) have some areas of terracing or standing areas, some of which may be allocated to travelling supporters. If you are interested in the specific allocation your nation will receive, and the seated-standing split, please contact the RFALI (OOC - me, by TG).

LTI Stadium:
Location - Montfort, Montfort Parish
Capacity - 75,000 (all seated)
Home Side - Montfort Wanderers, traditional home of the Licentian Isles National Football Team
Games Hosting - N/A

Gardiner-Stewart Stadium:
Location - Abingdon, Abingdon Parish
Capacity - 60,000 (48,000 seated)
Home Side - Abingdon Celtic
Games Hosting - N/A

Barton Software Arena:
Location - Colesham, Colesham Parish
Capacity - 47,000 capacity (42,000 seated)
Home Team - Colesham Athletic
Games Hosting - N/A

St Bart’s Oval:
Location - St Bart’s, St Bart’s Parish
Capacity - 45,500 (23,000 seated)
Home Team - St Bart’s United
Games Hosting - N/A

For details on how to get to the Licentian Isles, how to get around once you are here, general enquiries about the parish your team will be hosted in, or facilities at each ground, please contact the RFALI (OOC - again, me, by TG).

Visitors to the Licentian Isles for international matches should note that there are a growing number of football hooligans, known on the Isles as “casuals”, who plan to cause disruption and possibly attack fans travelling to the Licentian Isles. Travelling supporters are advised to wear team colours wherever possible (as casuals will not attack fans wearing colours without provocation), and avoid areas of the Isles populated by violent casual groups, along with trying to avoid these groups at matches. Most casual groups will be easily identifiable by banners they carry or songs they sing. Groups to avoid (with associated club and parish) include:

Jolly Roger (Garton Bay Pirates, Montfort Parish)
Capital City Squad (Montfort North End, Montfort Parish)
Real Celts (Gaelic Club, Abingdon Parish)
Colliery Casual Crew (Colesham Rovers, Colesham Parish)
Island Riot Squad (St Bart’s United, St Bart’s Parish)
Licentian Border Squad (St Thomas’ Cove, St Bart’s Parish)

Opposing nations should also note that some casual or ultra groups may travel in force with the Licentian national team for international matches abroad. Not all are violent, but most will carry flares and large banners, and make use of them to build up the atmosphere during a match. If your nation bans this kind of behaviour, please make the RFALI aware so that we can warn fans travelling to your nation in advance.

For any more information on Licentian casuals, please contact the RFALI (OOC - you know the drill).

Tumbran National Football Team
The Blue Lions

After a horrific World Cup 75 cycle which saw Colin Guthries sacked after one half of qualifying, the Blue Lions went from competition to competition without any real successes. This will be Robin Stoff's first major tournament with him in charge - and he is looking forward to revamping the team, with a whole new lineup.

All-Time Record as of CE XVII

Jordan Fletcher: 12-8-17
Colin Guthries: 1-3-4
Robin Stoff: 0-7-7

1: (Not for too long - maximum until end of tournament. No killings or career-ending injuries. A terrorist attack that kills supporters is fine, however - just not any member of the Royal Family)

Staff

Manager: Robin Stoff (57 y/o, TMB)

Robin Stoff is the manager of the Tumbran team - something which has proven to be more of a curse than a blessing. In his fourteen matches in charge, he has failed to win any, at most holding teams to a draw. He hopes that will change at this tournament, with Tumbra being in a relatively easy group. He has repeatedly stated that he is in for the long run - a sentiment that the TFA shares, despite them dismissing him from his job as the U-21 manager following Tumbra's successful third-placed finish in the Di Bradini Cup.

Assistant Manager: Mark Noble (46 y/o, TMB)

Noble was recently appointed to the job by Stoff - he will be taking care of tactics and ingame advice, as well as being the defensive coach. Previously manager of West Langham, Noble is more offensive-based than Stoff - however, he has adapted his tactics to Stoff's somewhat. Will they work well together? Or will their relationship crumble?

Goalkeeping Coach: Aiden Pearce (51 y/o, TMB)

Defensive Coach: Jon Seah (42 y/o, TMB)

Attacking Coach: Martin Lewis (57 y/o, TMB)

Fitness Coach: Samantha Lewington (38 y/o, TMB)

Scout: Harry Kew (63 y/o, TMB)

Physio: Coraline Lewis (32 y/o, TMB)

Players

Formation: 4-2-3-1

With several important players retiring, announcing their retirement from international football or football altogether, Robin Stoff has chosen to revamp the team fully. The result is a new-look team that has players from more top-tier teams, although there still are some from lower-tier ones.

1 Ryan Hughes (Thurmond City)

Age: 29
Height: 190 cm
Weight: 86 kg

Goalkeeper Hughes was, is and will be the custodian of the goal for this team. A magnificent ability to stop shots which are often considered unsaveable, Hughes is a threat to look out for. However, he cannot stop set-pieces for toffee, and generally looks to the defenders to help him in this task.

12 Raymond Perry (Goldlion Arsenal)

Age: 28
Height: 183 cm
Weight: 73 kg

Perry, the man with cat-like reflexes, finds himself once again in the team. He'll be treating this as possibly an extended vacation, unless something happens to Hughes. He is a middle-of-the-road keeper, and is generally considered to be around decent for a team of Tumbra's standing.

23 Steven Haines (Waterford City)

Age: 31
Height: 184 cm
Weight: 79 kg

Haines made it into the team with the retirement of Larry Peterson, who retired aged 34. Although unlikely to play any major role in this tournament, but he is always ready to spring into action when needed. More of a technical player than a showman, he has very good control of his area.

2 Louis Paterson (Chalk Wharf)

Positions: LB, CB
Age: 26
Height: 179 cm
Weight: 81 kg

3 Brandon Brooks (Fayborough United)

Positions: CB, CDM, CM
Age: 29
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 85 kg

Brandon Brooks is the definition of a safe pair of hands. His command of the area is bar none, and is often called the best defender in Tumbra. While not the fastest, Brooks does fit in with Stoff's new philosophy of stopping attackers in defence - and works it out to a tee.

4 Steve Nelson (Thurmond United)

Positions: CB, RB, CDM
Age: 27
Height: 172 cm
Weight: 69 kg

5 Cecil Reyes (Hoxford United)

Positions: RB, CB, SW
Age: 24
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 72 kg

Reyes is part of a new brand of football that Robin Stoff is trying to bring in - physically imposing defenders that can scare the living daylights out of opposing strikers. Standing at just below six feet, Reyes is extremely athletic and will chase after every single ball.

13 Lucas Jennings (Montego Bay Rangers)

Positions: CB, RB, CDM
Age: 30
Height: 178 cm
Weight: 74 kg

14 Alex Tucker (Metz FC)

Positions: LB, CB, RB
Age: 26
Height: 168 cm
Weight: 54 kg

Alex Tucker is the shortest and lightest member of the team, but that does not mean everything in the world of football. Tucker is fast, agile and jumps like a spring - managing to jump up to 200 cm - taller than most people are. This also means that he has been responsible for some fantastic last-ditch goal-line saves, using his incredible speed to catch up to forwards.

15 Roger Baker (Thurmond City)

Positions: CB, RB
Age: 27
Height: 182 cm
Weight: 71 kg

6 Henry Butler (Connaught FC)

Positions: CDM, CM, LM
Age: 26
Height: 171 cm
Weight: 63 kg

Butler quietly and efficiently established himself as the top CDM in Tumbra, with his recent showing at the Cup of Harmony speaking volumes about his quality. Extremely well-versed in the defensive arts of football, Butler will run rings around the opponent, showing them how stubborn the Tumbran defence can be at times.

7 John Rhys-Stevens (Merton FC)

Positions: CDM, CB
Age: 21
Height: 175 cm
Weight: 70 kg

Rhys-Stevens put in a quiet yet determined campaign during the Cup of Harmony and the Eagle's Cup, proving once again that the mature-beyond-his-age midfielder is ready for the full rigour of international football. His most unforgettable moment may have happened in Valanora, but that was what brought him into the spotlight for the first time...

8 Almar Hussein (Connaught FC)

Positions: LW, CM, CAM
Age: 18
Height: 170 cm
Weight: 56 kg

Another star from the Di Bradini Cup campaign, Hussein's young age raises the question of whether he is too young to take part in international football. Some say that he is an experiment to see whether Oliver Ganson can be rushed into service as the replacement for Henry Pandon, but we never know with Robin Stoff. An aerial master, his linkup plays are excellent and more often than not he will score headed goals out of nowhere. He will be relishing this chance to re-link with Stoff, the ex-U21 manager.

9 Robert Alexander (Thurmond United)

Age: 28
Positions: CAM, LM, RM
Height: 176 cm
Weight: 74 kg

Alexander rose to the occasion exceptionally well when Henry Pandon was taken off injured, being the star of the show in the Eagle's Cup, along with Henry Butler. He has that ability to see goalscoring opportunities where others do not - this leads to him being played as a raumdeuter, or space invader.

10 Albert Foster (Goldlion Arsenal)

Age: 26
Positions: RW, LW, CF
Height: 169 cm
Weight: 62 kg

Foster is fast, and he knows it. At twenty-six years of age, Foster relies on pure speed and skill to get past and befuddle his poor opponents, usually leaving them in the dust with his magnificent speed. He often sets up counterattacks on the wing, which makes him a prime target for defenders.

16 William Coleman (Thurmond United)

Age: 29
Positions: CDM, CM
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 79 kg

17 Arnold Lowe (Fayborough United)

Age: 26
Positions: RM, CM
Height: 172 cm
Weight: 71 kg

18 Ernest Sanders (Thurmond City)

Age: 32
Positions: CDM, CB, RM
Height: 182 cm
Weight: 82 kg

19 Justin Bielsen (Wildrspring Wanderers)

Age: 24
Positions: RM, LM
Height: 179 cm
Weight: 74 kg

20 Ervin Geeson (Sondon AFC)

Age: 30
Positions: CDM, CB
Height: 181 cm
Weight: 77 kg

11 Henry Pandon (Thurmond City) - Captain

Age: 31
Positions: ST, CF
Height: 178 cm
Weight: 77 kg

Will this be Henry Pandon's last cycle as skipper of the National Team? He shows no signs of slowing down, though the long time he took to recover from his Eagle's Cup injury did put the question of renewal into the spotlight, Pandon has since recovered immensely and is raring to go in helping the Blue Lions. Tumbra's best ever striker, he does not pull any punches when in the spotlight, always scoring without fanfare.

21 John Krajewski (Humboldt Albion)

Age: 23
Positions: ST, LW, LM
Height: 181 cm
Weight: 81 kg

While Oliver Ganson may still be too young to play football on the international level, John Krajewski - born to a Tumbran mother and Quebecois father, he chose Tumbra at the age of seventeen, and has been playing for the Blue Lions ever since. Krajewski may be one born outside the traditional mold of possession-based gradual attacking football, however. Inheriting the characteristics of a Quebecois footballer, he is born to score goals and is loud and proud of it.

22 Peter Jones (West Langham)

Age: 25
Positions: ST, CAM
Height: 170 cm
Weight: 64 kg

Jones is the third striker in Tumbra's striking options - a stalwart choice if there ever was one. While there was a chance for him to ascend to the number 21 jersey, Jones chose to remain with 22, as it was, to him, the more iconic choice. The days of him scoring at will in the Di Bradini Cup are long gone, but Jones has since evolved into a quiet, efficient striker with a deadly right foot.

The Stadia

Wembley National Stadium, Goldlion City - 90,000

Image

The National Stadium is certainly the largest dedicated football stadium in Tumbra - and that is saying a lot. Located in the north of Goldlion City, traffic from there and the airport is usually atrocious, but the Tube does have a dedicated system servicing the station on matchdays.

City of Thurmond Stadium, Thurmond - 53,000

Image

Home to Thurmond City FC, this stadium, while not the largest stadium in Thurmond (New Trafford takes that title), is certainly the more modern one. Located just a hop, a skip and a jump away from the city centre, and five kilometres away from the airport (with a direct train service to boot).

Thefield Stadium, Connaught - 44,742

Image

Thefield Stadium (pronounced Theh-feld) is located in Connaught, fifty-six kilometres from Thurmond, and is home to Connaught FC - some of the league's most dedicated supporters. While not the newest stadium, Tumbra fans are known to show a great atmosphere while there. Easily reachable by train, plane or car.

Head Coach: Byron Payne, 56
Through genius, perseverance, or sheer dumb luck, Byron Payne oversaw a World Cup qualifying campaign that saw the White Suns come within one home-and-away series of qualifying for the seventy-fifth World Cup in Audioslavia and Krytenia. Such success was unprecedented, and unfortunately it has set Payne up for failure going forward as he must attempt to build upon that success with a new set of challenges laid on him this intervening season

First of all, Payne must deal with player turnover for the first time with the retirements of midfield stalwarts Lucio Shepherd and Bo Strain. With the loss of Shepherd and no defensive mid strong enough to replace him, Payne may be forced to push his other midfielder up the field and leave Billy Diaz at the back of a traditional 4-4-2 diamond instead of his preferred 4-2-2-2, but that leaves the question of who provides ball service to Alex Hawkins. Young Jonathan Wright plays a devastating number nine at Cannich, but that club's lack of success in the Cygnus Cup leaves a lot to be wondered about his ability to perform at this level.

Second, for the first time, more than one or two of Payne's players are plying their trade outside of Hasznia. This is normal for national teams across the multiverse, but until recently the White Suns benefited from short travel times to and from camps, allowing more players to be brought in on a trial basis and the team more time to gel. With eight foreign-based players on the final roster, and only two of those based in Esportiva, Payne must contend with shorter camps and greater demands on his players from their clubs, particularly with his star player now playing in one of the top leagues in the multiverse.

National information.
Located within the Esportiva, Port Christopher is an unincorporated state of the Free Colony of Schottia. The nation is home to just over 1,000,000 people, the vast majority living in the City of Port Christopher. The small country is home to a diverse population of various ethnicities and backgrounds. Port Christopher has an extremely high population density especially around the coastal areas.

The colony was established as a trading post in 1879, when the then, Eastern Ossorían Empire, were looking for a way into the Esportivan market. The wealthy polyarchy of merchants swamped to Port Christopher in a bid to take advantage of this situation.

At the time the Ossorí government came under heavy criticism for their treatment of the native population. Many of whom it is believed had their homes destroyed and were either sold into slavery or died from disease and hunger as their fields were dug up for cash crops. General Lewis Home-Christopher, whom the colony is named after, is still a controversial figure in Schottia today for the methods he used in securing the area.

The Port Christopher merchants quickly became some of the richest in what were the beginnings of a Schottic maritime empire, taking over from where the previous administrations had left off. The new colony flourished along with the EOE at this time and was another hub to new enlightenment and developments in science, education, literature and philosophy. The City of Port Christopher became the Empire's second city and one of the richest Tyranan ports.

Squad information.
Port Christopher enter the Campionato Esportiva for the first time, as the small Schottic territory continue to develop as a footballing nation in their own right. They are not exactly a side oozing with talent, but what they lack in finesse, they usually make up for in hard graft. The Christopherian Super-League has never been known for its subtlety - taking place in the sweltering heat, usually at breakneck speed - but at least in equips its players for a battle.

Key man in the side is the highly experienced Diego Bandos, the multiple times league winner with Willox Street Pirates has also played in the knock out stages of the Globe Cup. The Player now at Lexington Victory, is the linchpin in the centre, tough in the tackle and good going forward. Other players to watch include Polaris' Tim Maitfield, New Dundee Star striker Ross Jameson who is on form at the moment, and versatile midfielder Aredhel Neil. Top teenagers Liam Goncalves, and Tomas Nazario-Silva are also set to play a big role in Tumbra; and both defenders most likely have a big future in the sport.

--------------------

Home -- Reverse -- Away

Image

-------------------

---4-5-1---

GK: Carus Laxium, 32 Patria Poble Image Height: 192cm Weight: 87kg
Laxium is strong and reliable keeper with many years of experience in Christopheran League. Not a native, however after nine years living in the country, he qualifies for this Port Christopher side. After a move to FC Padan in Lutine turned sour, he is now San Lleran club Patria Poble.

RB/M: Anderiz, 25 New Saint Johns Image Height: 169cm Weight: 67kg
The Saints defender is on of the main reasons his side have performed so well over the last four seasons. Anderiz has won a huge list of admirers with his crunching tackles and forward runs.

LB: Liam Goncalves, 19 Dundee Image Height: 180cm Weight: 68kg
The 19-year-old could be the next big thing. A fast left-back who likes to get to the opposition by-line, he was a big factor in Dundee finishing third in the SPL last season.

CB/DM: Tomas Nazario-Silva 19, Willox Street Pirates Image [/b] Height: 191cm Weight: 81kg
A young centre-back with a bloodthirsty streak in him. He has been fantastic for the Pirates in the reserve league, and in the pre-season UICA matches. Whether he is in defence, or pushed forward into the midfield, he never shies away from a tackle, even if it means going through the player to get to the ball.

CB: Robert Wessel, 31 FC Soessch Image Height: 190cm Weight: 88kg
One half of the Wessel twins, he and his brother Moritz were a main stay at New Dundee for the best part of a decade. The sons of Schottic North Island migrants, they have lived and played in Port Christopher all their careers. Robert Wessel, who recently moved to FC Soessch in Schottia, is a big goal threat coming forward for set-pieces.

CM: Diego Bandos, 31 Lexington Victory Image Height: 177cm Weight: 74kg C
Captain of the team, Bandos is a quick and dynamic player who combines silky passing with robust tackling. Bandos is probably the only real standout player in the squad, as his $5M move from the Pirates to Lexington Victory proves.

CM: Elisa Rivera, 20 Marinos Thimpodopoulos Ladies Image Height: 167cm Weight: 63kg
Sarrburgh Town have never quite recovered from the loss of Rivera when she left to join Schottic side the Warriors. She will probably play in the most advanced role of the midfield-three, and is great with the ball at her feet, a short crisp passer of the ball.

RM: Aredhel Neil 27, La Gorlions Image Height: 164cm Weight: 72kg
Had quite an unhappy time of it at Blue Coast over the last four or five seasons, despite being one of the league on form players. Quick, strong, and reliable, Neil now hopes to move on to bigger and better thing in the SPL with La Gorlions.

LM: Tim Maitfield, 28 Polaris Image Height: 179cm Weight: 77kg
Maitfield is your typical right footed, left sided midfielder. He is most effective with his head down running at the defenders with pace. He scores regularly for his club, cutting in of the left and unleashing some ferocious strikes.

ACM: Moritz Wessel, 31 New Dundee Star Image Height: 190cm Weight: 80kg
The other half of the Wessel twins, Moritz is very different form his brother. Tall and lanky he lacks his Brother's power, but he is a potent player in his own right. Capable of playing anywhere across the midfield his best position is just behind the strikers.

CF: Ross Jameson 28, New Dundee Star Image Height: 178cm Weight: 75kg
Probably the best player the Kirston Eagles have ever produced, Ross Jameson was in the form of his career as he helped New Dundee push The Willox Street Pirates all the way last season.

---subs---

GK: Scott Torrance, 25 New Sarrburgh Town Image Height: 189cm Weight: 82kg
Represented Schottia at U-21 level, but has played in Port Christopher for seven years now. Arguably the best keeper in the Super-League.

CB: Lara Dixon 30, Willox Street Pirates Image Height: 179cm Weight: 70kg
A regular first team player for the Pirates, Dixon may have to settle for a place on the bench in this tournament. She is a little different form the other defenders, and offers a bit more pace.

RM: Jose Almedro 30, New Saint Johns Height: 190cm Weight: 80kg
Tall, powerful and lightning quick, Almedro is someone who can be brought on to influence the game if things aren’t going to plan.

LM/D: Tom Popescu-Black 27, New Saint Johns Image Height: 183cm Weight: 76kg
A teammate of Almedro, Popescu-Black is one of the most highly rated midfielders in the league. He qualifies to play for Port Christopher through his maternal grandmother.

LM: Rachel Del Arro 21, Samaj FC Image Height: 173cm Weight: 57kg
Del Arro spent her entire youth career from the age of 12 at Handon United, before making the move to Samaj FC. In her debut season she helped the club win promotion the Cosumarite top flight. She is a light weight player, who is capable of producing some fantastic trickery.

CM: Maeve Bronte 20, Willox Street Pirates Image Height: 175cm Weight: 59kg
A quick, clever passer of the ball, Bronte has featured a fair bit for the Pirates over the past two years. She is very creative in possession, but also has that Willox Street combative mentality.

CM: Miller Icacic, 29 Kelsy Merchants Image Height: 182cm Weight: 79kg
One of the more surprising names in the squad, but he has had a great season with his club the Kelsy Merchants. The central midfielder is a tall and athletic player, who is not afraid to shoot from distance.

CM: Dietmar Koenig 31, New Dundee Star Image Height: 180cm Weight: 76kg
Like Berg, the Stars captain will perhaps be disappointed to have to settle for a spot on the bench. Everyone will be expecting to see him feature heavily though, as his skill and passing ability are legendary at his club.

L/CM: Acacia García 21, Newport Sirens Image Height: 172cm Weight: 60kg
Your typical Christopheran wide-player, lightning quick and a bit rough around the edges. García has had a good debut season at Newport, after leaving the Schottic youth system.

CF: Jacques 23, Dundee Image Height: 178cm Weight: 68kg
Jacques has been a top prospect for his country for some time. The stocky little striker takes no prisoners and represents a real presence in attack. His goals helped Dundee to an incredible 8th in the SPL.

CF: Tony Uist, 27 Marinos Thimpodopoulos ImageHeight: 179cm Weight: 76kg
Uist was the Super-League's top scorer three years in a row before joining Fleftic side Marinos Thimpodopoulos, in a 7 million deal. The former Blue Coast man represents the biggest goal threat for this side, and is one of the few top-class players in this starting eleven.

CF: Chris Abaroa 22, Willox Street Pirates Image Height: 180cm Weight: 70kg
Abaroa had a great breakthrough season with the league champions, and really hit form towards the end of the season. With the Pirates on the way up, and Abaroa only at the age of 21, be will surely have a big future in the game.

Racao presents the squad that achieved a third place finish (without a single ranking point!) in the 14th Campionato Esportiva.

RACAO ROSTER FOR CAMPIONATO ESPORTIVA XVI>>>

GOALKEEPERS >>>
SAKOTO >>> GK (29) Sakoto is one of Racao's most experienced goalkeepers. Despite being one of the older players on Racao's team, Sakoto still possesses reflexes and wit. Sakoto, like many of the Racaoan players on this roster, grew up playing football on the streets of the slums outside Racao's major cities. Although the culture at the time encouraged goal-scorers more than goal-tenders, Sakoto quickly discovered a natural talent for goalkeeping. A scout for Soalara Strike noticed Sakoto's abilities and signed him on. He won the national championship twice with that club before moving on to Port Louis Lightning and, later, abroad to Burnton 1963.

Hassan HIRANA >>> GK (27) Although Hassan Hirana is an up-and-coming goalkeeper, he has taken second fiddle in the Racaoan team to the more experienced Sokoto. He definitely has good shot-blocking skills, and far and by large, he is an excellent goalkeeper.

Trojana RAKOHELY >>> GK (32) Trojana Rakohely is somewhat of an old geezer on the Racaoan side. Having just barely made the team, Rakohely's skills are growing old and he no longer possesses the quick reflexes he had in his youth.

DEFENDERS >>>
Andrian RAKOTONIRINA >>> RB (30) Andrian Rakotonirina brings some experience to the defensive side of the field. He has played for several Racaoan clubs and knows his way around several strategies. His guidance will help the younger defenders when they need it.

Justin RABELOMASINA >>> RB (24) Justin Rabelomasina might be the total opposite of Chris Rakotomaharo. While Rakotomaharo specializes in large kicks, Rabelomasina specializes in short, precise passes that work nearly every single time. He helps to maintain a defensive field around the goal which almost never allows shots through. Good dribbling and pickup abilities help Rabelomasina to keep the ball away from the goal. Rabelomasina also has good concentration and will use them to complement his passing and dribbling and his fellow defenders' good attributes.

Christopher RAKOTOMAHARO >>> CB (22) One of two teenage prodigies starting on Racao's national team, Chris Rakotomaharo is a speedy defender with a tight control on the ball. His kicking abilities are legendary on the Racaoan team and feature strongly in the defensive strategy of the team. His fellow defenders act like a funnel, sending the ball towards him so he can send the ball far away from the goal. If that doesn't work, he is more than adept at dribbling, and keeping with the opportunistic Racaoan team, he makes use of his many skills to keep the ball from penetrating the goal. His versatility and quick thinking make him an asset to any team that has him.

Ciriaque RASOA >>> CB (27) Ciriaque Rasoa is a competent defender. He lacks creativity, however, and sticks to by-the-book strategies, something that doesn't fare well for Racao's current strategy.

Masibo RALAVANOA>>> LB (28) Masibo Ralavanoa is a good all-around player - he has decent stamina, decent passes, decent blocks, and decent stealing. However, the team strategy did not call for a jack-of-all-trades, and Manendry fit the bill for a left back better than Ralavanoa did.

Félix MANENDRY >>> LB (26) Félix Manendry is a solid and consistent defender. Skilled at passing and retrieval, Manendry is willing to take risks. Although he is a left back, Manendry often deviates from his assigned position, and he is also capable of playing center back. He often takes control of the ball right after the opposing team penetrates the midfield, passing it back to his teammates before they send it wide into the midfield. His defensive style is on the border between creative and by-the-book. When an opportunity arises for either situation, Manendry is not hesitant to use his skills to pick up on that opportunity. Manendry is currently with a club in Electrum.

MIDFIELDERS >>>
MOSA >>> CM (29) CPT Mosa, Racao's most experienced midfielder, still has years left in him. Despite flagging stamina, Mosa knows how to connect with the ball. His main asset is his versatility. Whether on defense or on offense, Mosa knows the right tricks to get the ball where he wants it to go. He is a prolific scorer despite being in the midfield. Strikers Ipirina and Arivelo are often at the receiving end of his passes for a creative goal shot, and Mosa is adept at getting that perfect shot in line for them. His experience shows on the playing field. Mosa is described as eother a creative midfielder or a midfield general player, and he has the abilities to fit both profiles. Indeed, he does create many scoring opportunities for the trio of young strikers. At the other end of the stick, though, Mosa directs play in the midfield and scoops up the opponents' shots. He is a confidence booster for the younger members of the team. Mosa definitely deserves his captainship because of the wide range of abilities he possesses.

Nizar AMADA >>> LM (26) Nizar Amada just barey made the Racaoan team - he is not very accurate with passes, and he doesn't has good defense or stealing abilities. Despite these failings, overall he is a decent player, yet not decent enough for the starting squad.

Albert MANASOA >>> LM (25) Albert Manasoa is a good complement to Mena Rabalasoa on the other side of the field. Manasoa's best attribute is arguably his stealing ability. Opposing defenders will not be safe if they are in Mansoa's zone; he will find a way to send the ball to Mosa or the offensive end of the field, like teammate Rabalasoa. His stamina along the left flank also helps him to maintain a good defensive posture. Manasoa, when in his element, is virtually unstoppable.

Rado SALIM >>> CM (25) Rado Salim is on the midline between a somewhat good player and a good player. He just needs a little more development. Indeed, he is fairly competent on the defensive side of the midfield, but sometimes, he cracks under pressure. Maybe in a cycle or two he will be promoted to the starting squad.

Masibo ANDRIANAJAKA >>> CM (25) Masibo Andriananaka has the mixed blessing of sharing the center midfield with the venerable Mosa. However, his skills are up to the task. Known for his box-to-box style, Manasoa is as equally adept on the defense as he is on the offense. Extremely mobile and blessed with good stamina, Andrianajaka possesses the qualities he needs to shore up both the defensive and offensive ends of the midfield. Arguably, Andrianajaka is the best box-to-box player Racao has ever produced.

Tahiry MAHAZAKA >>> CM (28) Tahiry Mahazaka is one of Mosa's and Masibo Andrianajaka's colleagues. He is a bit older than Andrianajaka but his stamina is falling and he is not aggressive enough, or at least according to team management. He will probably be subbed in if the team needs to take a more defensive posture.

Mena RABALASOA >>> RM (28) Mena Rabalasoa is an excellent right-winger. He is a flank player who possessive great pickup abilities. These abilities, as well as his legendary speediness, serve him well near the pitch boundaries, where he can force the ball towards the center of the midfield, allowing his teammates the opportunity to set up a goal-scoring play. He has the experience and gut instinct which allows him to predict a good next move, which allows him to foresee opponents' moves and to be there before they know they will be there. All of these qualities make Rabalasoa an excellent defensive midfielder.

Vincent RAHARISON >>> RM (29) Vincent Raharison is one of the more experienced midfielders, along with Mosa. However, he never was a good as Mosa, and despite being a good midfielder, a slightly younger and faster Mena Rabalasoa took the spot.

STRIKERS >>>
Ryan ARIVELO >>> ST (22) An up-and-coming striker, Arivelo is one of the youngest starters (and, indeed, players overall) on the Racaoan national team. Currently, he plays for Cenial United of Ceni; he formerly played for Once Municipal of San Jose Guayabal. Arivelo is known for his speed, endurance, passing, and unorthodox tactics. Indeed, he often takes risks and is rewarded with creative shots that go into the goal. He is a team player and despite his individuality, he is more than willing to work with his other teammates to score goals, even if it is at the expense of his own pride. Arivelo is on track to be one of the best players Racao has ever seen.

Pascale RAVELONAJATO >>> ST (28) Pascale Ravelonajato is a conventional striker. He is at least competent and knows what he is doing. His shots can be off target, but for the most part they are not shabby.

Aristotle IPIRINA >>> ST (24) Aristotle Ipirina is in the class of Ryan Arivelo. The two players have many similarities: both are young, risk-taking strikers. What sets Ipirina apart, however, is his shot-making ability. His risks are not in shots but in his position. Ipirina has a great mental acuity and can compute the best angles for shots while on the field (as evidenced by his name). When he gets in position, the ball almost always scores points for the Racao side. Ipirina also has the endurance to make it through a long match and the confidence to back himself up.

Mark VELONIRINA >>> ST (28) Mark Velonirina is by most conventional standards, an excellent striker. He has accuracy and power. Indeed, he led his team in Saint-Denis to the championships. However, team management decided to adopt a more risky approach rather than the stolid play Velonirina is used to.

Arman RAKOTOARISOA >>> ST (27) A fairly competent striker, Rakotoarisoa excels in accurate shots. He is a little bit slower than his peers but he does a good job with what he has. This, unfortunately, was not enough to earn him a place on the starting squad.

Silvëre RAVALOMANANA >>> ST (24) Completing Racao's trio of young strikers is Silvëre Ravalomanana. Unlike his peers Ipirina and Arivelo, though, Ravalomanana's specialty is outwitting defenders. He is extremely flexible with the ball and his dribbling and faking skills are second to none. No defender can stop his movement. After he is through all defenders, Ravalomana will either attempt a straight-up shot or pass to teammates Ipirina or Arivelo. Considering his accuracy, Ravalomanana is often the top choice to take penalty kicks. Ravalomanana also performs well under pressure, as a good striker should.

COACHING STAFF >>>
SOJA >>> Manager (38) Soja is probably one of the most-known footballers in Racao, and he is definitely a household name. A former striker and captain, Soja led the Racao national team and the Soalara Strike team until he retired from playing a few years ago. He has since turned his attention to coaching. Soja prefers to have innovative strategies rather than more conventional ones. The 3-4-3 approach that the team currently takes is his trademark style. Soja emphasizes personal fitness as well as opportunism and creativity. He is an extreme confidence booster and the players are proud to have him leading their team. He is an extremely popular coach, and inspires the team to do well. Apart from making lineup choices, Soja is also responsible for financial issues, travel, and other arrangements.

Robert JOSOA >>> Head Assistant Coach (39) Robert Josoa, another former player (a midfielder) from Soalara Strike, is responsible for more of the day-to-day activities of the team. He leads practices and ensures that the players are trained adequately before the match. He helps Soja implement general team strategy and also oversees the assistant coaches that train the goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and strikers. Josoa is also respected by the players and generally offers good tips for their improvement. He is interested in the team's welfare and will go far to ensure that they will win.

Dr. Hery TOLOLAHY >>> Medical Director (42) Hery Tololahy oversees trainers and physicians that make up the Racaoan national team. The son of the first real sports doctor in Racao, Tololahy followed in his father's path, studying at the Port Louis University and gaining admission to a prestigious program in the Kytler Peninsulae. As part of his job as the medical director, Tololahy treats injuries and takes steps to help them team avoid injuries. He also helps the team to maintain their energy and stamina and regain lost body fluids. On the side, Tololahy also runs clinics in Racao for aspiring footballers and other athletes on the importance of medicine.

STRATEGY >>>
The Racaoan strategy for this tournament will be a versatile format that aims for effective coverage of the entire field to gain possession. Racao will adopt a slightly aggressive but balanced strategy that emphasizes control of the midfield. Starting with the 3-4-3 position, the Racao team will develop the offense by tactical use of midfield plays. If a team manages to get through the midfield, the defense and goalkeeper are more than able to handle them, although a midfielder may be shunted towards the defensive end of the field in case of this scenario. However, with a strong midfield, this scenario is unlikely, but the team will be able to deal with this occasion. At the offensive end of the field, shot-making and accuracy are emphasized. If the team is behind, similar to strategy for defense, the midfield is capable of going on the offense. When this occurs, the two center midfielders will fan out towards the opponents' penalty box. This flexible approach ensures that the team is not caught off guard by offensive maneuvers and that goals can be made with relative ease. After the team's disastrous campaign in World Cup 70, Soja decided to tone down his' side's propensity for offense and instead focus on man-to-man defending, more flexible midfield strategies, and less reliance on the strikers to lead the team to victory. Depending on the results of this CE campaign, Soja might decide to make some changes to the formation, including adding additional midfielders and removing strikers.

THE EMPIRE OF GREATER ANGLATIA ROSTER
THE EXPLORERS

Anglatia, formerly isolationist, broke into the international sporting world recently after Emperor Colden of Kaine's initiative to help the country gain more notability through sport. The initiative included both the creation of new national teams and the recruitment of players from Armeia, which had competed in two World Cup qualifying cycles before going to war and forcing out most of its professional athletes. Debuting in the under-15 World Cup, Anglatia won third place, and was able to win the following World Bowl with a team mostly inherited from Armeia.

After the last World Cup qualifying campaign, Thane Hull resigned due to failing to meet the expectations he imposed on his own team. The Explorers started off decently but dropped too many points and quickly found themselves out of the running to make it into the finals. A pleasant surprise, however, was Nessa Chryst, the eighteen year old striker who stole the hearts of the nation with her fiery temperament on the pitch and her skill at scoring clutch goals. Replacing Thane Hull was Wilson Tahiri, a mysterious manager of Nordskanian and Anglatian descent who has a questionable background but motivated the team better than Thane Hull ever could, leading them to fourth place in the 67th Cup of Harmony.

With Anglatia fighting both a war and a proxy war, nationalism is high again and the media expects the Explorers to beat the odds to make a deep run in this tournament, after Brencia ended the hopes of a surprise run last edition when the team came back from a terrible start to make it out of the group stage.

STAFF:

Head Coach: Wilson Tahiri: The new manager of Anglatia is very mysterious. In fact, nobody really knows who he is. He's allegedly an ex member of the Bathgate staff, and supposedly managed two clubs in Nordskania, Union Ryakovo and Energie Masloka. However, records from Nordskania are hard to verify because of the Nordskanian censorship that makes it hard for foreign journalists to investigate. The thirty one year old got the job seemingly because of being talented at coaching wingers and forwards, which is an area that Anglatia excels in. During the Cup of Harmony, he brought the best out of the attacking players, and even the defensive players. They played with a newfound passion under him, and upset multiple higher ranked teams because of the way the team played under him. Now the pressure is on for him to use whatever new tricks he has up his sleeve to do the same thing in this competition.

Assistant Coach: Brandon Tjaeder: Bathgate City manager and long time assistant for the Armeian youth teams and later the Armeian national team, Brandon Tjaeder is considered a genius when it comes to creating football tactics that score plenty of goals. Tjaeder won a record setting trio of trophies with Hawks United and then won the National Cup with Southeastern, before joining Bathgate and having a very disappointing season that was chalked up to executive meddling. While Tjaeder has classically been seen as an attacking manager, his role now is largely to manage the defenders and defensive tactics.

Fitness Coach: Fabrico Holguin: The manager of Evolucion Arija will work as a fitness coach, likely because of his well known talent for helping to develop youth players. He also may have been brought in specifically to work with star forward Zahara Santana, who he discovered as a youth player before any other teams did.

STARTING XI:

Goalkeeper: Isa Tangemen - 21 - Ross United: After being granted citizenship by the Emperor himself, the new Ross United signing took over for Jaco as keeper. Tangemen is certainly controversial, and in the media spotlight because of her high profile transfer, and because of her bad exit from her last team, Rosenpfelblatz City. Tangemen has excellent reflexes and great diving range, but mental problems and problems with her teammates have caused trouble for her entire career. After the fans at Rosenpfelblatz turned on her, she's even more emotionally unstable and her emotions might get in the way of good performances. She performed decently in the Cup of Harmony, but the pressure now will be massive.

Left Back: Leonne Warner - 21 - Rosenpfelblatz City: Leonne Warner, one of three Armeians on the squad, formerly played at left back for Ross United, but is moving to Rosenpfelblatz as part of United's deal to get Isa Tangemen. Her game is based around her speed, agility, and her ability to close down on incoming attackers. She previously switched to defensive midfielder in the last major competition, but now that the team is switching to a 4-3-3, she has moved back to left back and is the undisputed starter in that position. While she doesn't look overtly athletic, Warner was internationally recognized as one of the best players in the Cup of Harmony, and is one of the players that does the dirty work for the team.

Left Center Back: Hector Grier - 26 - Real Azuris: Grier is the same type of player as Warner, and plays left back for his club, but he brings more physicality. Growing up in Roehester, Grier was one of the most recruited Anglatian prospects and started his career at the Calovice academy before moving to Sungri for eight million marks. During his time at Sungri, he immediately became one of the very best defenders in the league and eventually became regarded as the top center back, but a lack of success led to him filing a transfer request and eventually leaving Sungri for five million marks to test his skills at Real Azuris, in Cosumar. Grier's speed has been steadily improving throughout his career, allowing him to push higher up the pitch during attacks and still run back to defend the counter.

Right Center Back: Bozidar Pavlovic - 19 - Unattached: The defensive anchor of Evolucion Arija has now graduated from that team and is starting in the back for the national team because of his great all around skillset. Pavlovic is likely set to play one more year in Liga Elite before becoming the most expensive defender in Anglatian history, because of his ability to compete physically with players much older and larger than him. Sporting Escane and United Riego are rumored to be the main teams interested in signing him, while other rumors say that he would prefer to move abroad and follow his teammate Nessa Chryst to Tel'Adre.

Right Back: Felixe Madeiros - 29 - Athletic Sungri: The other fullback from Sungri is by no means as fast as Hector Grier or Leonne Warner, but is the strongest fullback on the team and wins most of his aerial challenges. He's recently been linked to the oil rich Calovice Sporting as a transfer target, but has one year left on his contract.

Libero: Kaden Espina - 25 - Real Barriga: Making up the back of the 4-3-3 diamond is Kaden Espina, who plays the same role for Real Barriga. Espina's specialty is traveling large amounts of ground in short times, and being able to both advance the ball to the offense and recover it with well timed tackles when it's taken by the opposition. Espina will also sometimes drop back as a fifth defender and shift the formation into a 5-1-4. After a very successful season, his value is up and Calovice Sporting has heavy interest in him.

Central Midfielder: Andros Diasakos - 27 - Ross United: The Ross United skipper returns to his role as a midfielder for the national team after a strong end of season performance with his club. Diasakos isn't as overtly athletic as some of the others on the squad, but he's always in position and always has the killer instinct to make an assist or score. Despite playing at midfielder, Andros has always been a poacher at heart and scores many goals from the offside line.

Central Midfielder: Conall O'Hara - 24 - Calovice Sporting: O'Hara lacks speed and strength but makes up for it by being able to place pinpoint passes all over the field for his teammates, and by crossing very accurately. He's also the one who makes most of the through ball passes for the midfield. During the Cup of Harmony, Tahiri brought out the best in him and made him a star in the midfield. The pressure is on for him to continue his form as a good creative player.

Left Winger: Zahara Santana - 20 - Underfell FC: Zahara 'Quicksilver' Santana returns to Anglatia after a failed stint with Port Tudor, and she joined an Underfell team with a point to prove. Underfell broke their transfer record to sign her, but for good reason. The older of the Santana sisters is a master at keeping the ball close to her body and getting around defenders, but she's also a threat to finish from the top of the box because of her long legs and impressive range. She needs to work on her defending, but most fans won't complain as long as she continues to lead the team in flash and style on the wing. She also has a fiery temper when she feels that she or her teammates are threatened, which was showcased when she received a red card during the Cup of Harmony for kicking an opponent in the groin in retaliation for a bad tackle.

Striker: Nessa Chryst - 19 - Tel'Adre Phoenix: The forward from Jugoskania by way of Ballonsgate won over anyone who doubted her inclusion in the World Cup roster. While she's only average sized, unlike the typical Anglatian forwards who tower over their teammates and opponents, Chryst has an extremely high motor and never stops running. Most of her goals come from close to the net, many of them coming from slides or headers to knock in rebounds and loose balls. In Liga Elite, she's known by the citizens of Arija as the savior that brought them from irrelevance back into the title scene, and to their rivals, she's known as the dirtiest striker to play in the league, because of her physicality. Her frame has increased since last season even though she's still undersized, and her strength has increased also. Definitely a loose cannon off the pitch, and it's basically a fact that she's either going to set the KPL on fire with Tel'Adre or she's going to cause a PR disaster.

Right Wing: Carlito Traoe - 26 - AC Kawajiri: Carlito Traoe left Ross United when Thane Hull decided that they needed to burn down their title winning strategy and shift gears, although a large reason why he left was because his chemistry with Bianka Schraeder was much better than his chemistry with Andros Diasakos. Traoe looks to have a better time in Kawajiri, after being labeled a rent boy by the supporters in Anglatia because of leaving Ross United after one season, but his explosive skill set means he'll likely mesh well with his new team. Despite playing on the wing, he's a complete forward with scoring instincts, and his large frame means it isn't easy to push him off of the ball.

BRENECIA
Preferred Formation:
4-3-3
Style Modifier: +2
Home Stadium: Kingsgarden - recently refurbished, a 58,000 all-seater in the capital of Rozelle.
Kit Supplier: JMC
Nickname: the Patriots

Surprisingly, what did not seem like it would be an inspiring cycle became one for the Patriots, their record World Cup finish. As a result, they're expecting excellence at the regional tournament, despite residual doubts about their defence and manager. Even their league's future was in flux until being saved by a bumper multinational TV deal. As it stands, it seems like the Patriots' long stint in the wilderness might finally be at an end.

As usual, there is a quiet reliance on foreigners qualifying through parentage - Sparwasser and Paterson were born and raised in Nephara, Uffington and Trevelyan in Apox. Combined with Buyanese migrants Skorupska and Szukala, this team has a fairly multicultural feeling about it.

Honours
Campionato Esportiva 14 champions.
Second at Cup of Harmony 66 and Campionato Esportiva 16.
Third place at the Trindl Cup 2.
Second Round finish at WC75.

Overall Record
153 wins - 63 draws - 84 losses
551 scored - 403 conceded

141 - Catherine Purrington
126 - Orson Faulkner
121 - Miriam Spitfire
117 - Sam Allbeck
112 - Isadora Cullen
93 - Erin Camden

89 - Cheney Scherzer
84 - Brandon Duguid
80 - Brad Kuepper

Most Goals
48 - Cheney Scherzer
44 - Catherine Purrington
38 - Brad Kuepper
35 - Ursula Rankin
32 - Isadora Cullen

First Team and Tactics
Image

Cullen's side plays lightning-quick, cavalier football, constantly attacking at pace. It's an exceptionally quick but not especially technical side, and maximising opportunities ensures that a few will land in the net.

* Cullen takes penalties, Purrington and Kilbane take free-kicks and corners
** I'll have the final say on severity.
*** One per match.

Staff
Manager - Raven Cullen - Age 52
Asst. Manager - Fiona Sylver - Age 47

A controversial appointment, or perhaps not controversial enough as the perceived safe emergency option - roughly the same style as Bale, Cullen has had a mostly-successful A-League record but never managed abroad. Most recently working with Rozelle, Cullen's squad selections and tactics have... barely changed. That said, any criticism melted away after a wildly successful World Cup (albeit the 'win' over Eura will probably need an asterisk beside it). Sylver has stayed on as assistant and looks to have a bright future in coaching, tipped by many to take over the job someday.

Goalkeepers
1 - GK - Mathis Woodgate (Image Mallox) - Age 26 - 54 caps, 15 clean sheets
12 - GK - Geneva Urquhart (Image Northern Union) - Age 33 - 55 caps, 23 clean sheets
20 - GK - Andreas Sparwasser (Image Crisisbless United) - Age 24 - Uncapped

By this stage, Woodgate is the unquestioned first-choice goalkeeper. His club career has been anything but smooth of late, but he is still a superb shot-stopper who has generally found his best form for the Patriots. Woodgate is one of the team's best performers most days, always there to bail out a sometimes shaky defence. Geneva Urquhart is an excellent deputy, as well - though at 33, she isn't going to be in the frame much longer. A surprising callup is also on the cards for Sparwasser proved a capable goalkeeper in Nephara's top two tiers and will be a capable understudy - though it's unlikely he'll be needed. He's Nepharim by birth and upbringing, and is yet to set foot in the country he's already represented at youth level.

Defenders
2 - RB - Czeslawa Szukala (Image Falkner United) - Age 24 - 20 caps
3 - LB - Ophelia Lovelock (Image Sabrefell Athletic) - Age 25 - 26 caps, 3 goals
5 - CB - Anaximander Scrivener (Image Brigham) - Age 29 - 45 caps, 2 goals
6 - CB - Brandon Duguid (Image North Laithland) - Age 30 - 84 caps, 2 goals
18 - CB - Peter Uffington (Image Mliona-Lpaka AFC) - Age 23 - 6 caps
19 - LB - Saoirse Hourihane (Image North Hall) - Age 23 - Uncapped
22 - CB - Rostyn Bradden (Image Lajuno) - Age 27 - 29 caps, 2 goals

Upheaval in defence. Faulkner internationally retires for the second time and both Given and Collingwood have been omitted. Eura-based central defenders Bradden and Scrivener make for an extremely physical wall that's difficult to punch through, with the technician Duguid fighting to get back into the starting lineup. Uffington is clearly talented, and likely one for future tournaments - though if required he serves as auxiliary rightback. The team relies on dynamic attacking fullbacks Szukala and Lovelock for much of its attacking width - emerging talent Hourihane is not to be taken likely, either.

Midfielders
4 - DM - Lilith Paterson (Image Violence Chariots) - Age 29 - 36 caps, 1 goal
8 - CM - Cathy Blackslate (Image Gorfalle Town, c) - Age 31 - 72 caps, 14 goals
11 - CM - Catherine Purrington (Image Vermillion Rage) - Age 33 - 141 caps, 44 goals
14 - CM - Aleksandra Skorupska (Image Trothwands Evolution) - Age 24 - 21 caps, 6 goals
16 - CM - Elsie Drover (Image Rozelle) - Age 22 - 10 caps, 2 goals
21 - DM - Catherine Gryphon (Image Northern Union, vc) - Age 26 - 50 caps

A very attacking midfield presents itself for the tournament, with many strong options for the side. The first-choice trio is comprised of Skorupska - a quick harrier with a great passing range and terrorising shot - Gryphon - a technically skilled and calm influence in the centre - and Purrington - one-footed, overweight and wonderfully gifted. Blackslate remains the captain, a strong dressing-room presence and professional performer even if she had a quiet cycle, Drover is a genuinely thrilling talent who burst onto the scene a couple of seasons and Paterson... well, she demolishes people.

Forwards
7 - RW - Squire Trevelyan (Image FC Jansberg) - Age 25 - 47 caps, 19 goals
9 - ST - Ursula Rankin (Image Tanrisal) - Age 28 - 61 caps, 35 goals
10 - LW - Roisin Carroll (Image CSKA Quebec) - Age 25 - 52 caps, 11 goals
13 - LW - Sienna Fallon (Image North Hall) - Age 25 - 6 caps, 4 goals
15 - RW/ST - Karena Foran (Image Hellinic-Rouge) - Age 25 - 15 caps, 8 goals
17 - ST - Fionn Lynch (Image Lotus Park) - Age 24 - 3 caps, 2 goals
23 - RW - Ronan Bowditch (Image Real Azuris) - Age 28 - 15 caps, 5 goals

The best part of the squad with a fairly rich assortment to pick and choose from. A fairly well-entrenched set of starters in the physical, muscular Trevelyan - the most expensive Brenecian in history - the reliable, fiery Rankin and the technical, drifting Carroll can unlock most any defence. Fallon is a very orthodox option who puts a lot of effort into everything she does - similar story with Bowditch, who has been dominant in Cosumar. Karena Foran is an impact substitute par excellence, smashing down weary defences and with a dominant scoring rate in Brenecia and Pasarga. Fionn Lynch is young, incisive and very promising, and was a surprise call-up for the World Cup.

The Royal Gadiryan Football Association (RGFA) presents
The Gadiryan National Football Team

A unique aspect in Gadiryan football is the total lack of professional leagues, in Gadirya the environment is so extreme that the possibility of playing a full of season football is impossible without a retractable roof installed in the stadia. For now, there are no facilities in the nation that can do that but, in spirit of the "reform and new beginnings" government led by King Anwar I, indoor football facilities are being built along with Felixian coaches coming to Gadirya and teaching coaches how to properly train Gadiryan players and upcoming talent. Nonetheless, the government and the Royal Gadiryan Football Association for that matter; agreed to send a national team consisting of various semi-professional players from 4 different leagues across the Home Islands to show football to a sports hungry Gadiryan audience. The technique of the players may be something left to be desired and the play itself very crude with a lot of rough edges but the team is led by manager Ali Tahan who was the first coach from Gadirya to graduate from Felix's elite football coaching school in Santa Maria. Gadiryans are not at all expecting a great showing from their national team this CE (or the upcoming WC campaign for that matter). One, because we are the new boys in town and two, since the World Champions are in the same group as The Royals the wall for us Gadiryans to climb over got 10 feet higher. No, the Gadiryan fans, and the team itself; are glad to be in Tumbra and are ready to represent their nation. For God and Country!

THE COLONY OF THE FHULGHAMOUS PENINSULA
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

The Colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula (Full-Gah-Moose) was first established on 6 December 2008, when Fleftic explorers landed on what was then a previously undiscovered continent. These explorers landed on a large peninsula that they named Fhulghamous because of its rich and lush green forests. One of the explorers then fell into an old mine shaft while exploring the peninsula and discovered that the entire peninsula was lying on top of one of the biggest diamond deposits ever discovered by mankind. Once the explorers announced their discovery to the Fleftic government, the Democratic Republic Army Corps of Engineers was quickly dispatched to help speed up the establishment of the colony by helping in constructing settlements and assisting in constructing mining facilities to extract the diamonds within the land.

The Colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula was officially established as a colony of the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft on 6 September 2010 following the signing of Democratic Republic Act No. 2340. The colony's capital would be Port Thimpodopoulos, named after Sergeant Major Pythagoras Thimpodopoulos of the Army Corps of Engineers, who tragically died of a heart attack during the construction of the settlement that would eventually bear his name. Today, Port Thimpodopoulos has a population of ten million, accounting for just under half of the total population of the colony. Other cities in the colony were Besanza, Tadoki, Haritzaga City and Thereisnogodabad, home of Multiverse Premier League club Thereisnogodistan FC.

The colony is under the leadership of Governor-General Petrarchos Kulbano, brother of Minister of Colonial Affairs Demetrios Kulbano. His rule saw the Fhulghamous Peninsula's ascent to being one of the most economically-productive colonies of the Democratic Republic, but due to the colony's distance from the mainland Governor Kulbano is slowly beginning to treat the colony as his own personal fiefdom. This was one of the reasons why he had decided to send forth a petition to send a national team to the Di Bradini Cup, the Multiverse's top under-21 football competition. Unfortunately due to some last-minute troubles, the Fhulghamous Peninsula's team was not allowed entry into the Di Bradini Cup, leaving many people in the colony a bit unfulfilled. But when another chance to send forth a national team revealed itself, Governor Kulbano was quick to submit his team's entry, and this time he made sure that the wouldn't miss out on another chance at participating in an international competition.

The current team is mostly composed of players 21 years old or younger since Governor Kulbano originally envisioned this team participating in the Di Bradini Cup. Any players older than 21 were supposed to be coaching staff for the attempt at the U-21 Cup, but circumstances had forced to suiting up for their colony for this tournament. Nevertheless, everyone believes they've got what it takes to win it all. Also, following the relative success of the team in the Runner Cup and the Campionato Esportiva, a local league system has now been established in the colony, even as their two most successful teams (Marinos Thimpodopoulos and Thereisnogodistan FC) are now part of the Fleftic league system.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of Nation: The Colony of the Fhulghamous Peninsula
Demonym: Fhulghamousian, Colonist
Team colors: Green and gray
Style modifier: +4.00 (Yet another very attacking side)
Manager: Orestes Katsouranis Jr. (51 y/o, Fhulghamous Peninsula)
Assistant manager: Paulus Wolf (49 y/o, Pridnestrovia)
Trainer: Wendell Beckett (67 y/o, Abanhfleft)

STARTERS
GK: CAPOIERISTA

Ali is the reliable leader of the Fhulghamous team, acting as goalkeeping coach and first-team coach back when the team had been formed as an under-21 outfit, but now that the Fhulghamous Peninsula is competing in the likes of the World Cup and the Campionato Esportiva he has declared that he will be starting between the sticks for his colony. As he is a serving colonial councillor for the Fifth District of the City of Port Thimpodopoulos, Ali cannot play for a club, even though it could be said that he is just reaching the prime of his goalkeeping career. Keepers have played until into their late forties, right? Right?

RB: John MONTEMAYOR 33 y/o, Airbus Fhulghamous Besanza Image, captain
One of the other old-timers that moonlighted as a first-team defensive coach for the planned under-21 side before ending up suiting for the green and gray, Montemayor has since been picked up by local team Airbus Fhulghamous Besanza to provide some defensive depth and experience to their fledgling club, which has just been promoted to the top flight of Fhulghamousian football. Provides a calming presence to the backline of youngsters, but does have a few moments of heart-stopping defensive craziness as well, so it's not always good to have him in the team. Still, he's a calming presence when he himself is calm.

CB: Naftali SINGERSTEIN 23 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image (Abanhfleft)
A promising young center back whom Sporting Ceneisis immediately snapped up as soon as the Colonists' campaign in the Campionato Esportiva was over, but then immediately sent him on loan to Oontaz Dert Li Ng's Botafogo de Maranao. Singerstein is the kind of center back to sit back and be the last man between the keeper and any marauding attackers, although a lot of times he has to be reminded that there is such a thing as the offside rule. If he does play someone offside, most often it will be by accident. Now back at Ceneisis.

CB: John HAINAUT 21 y/o, Miroz Old Boys Image (Abanhfleft)
The other half of Fhulghamous's central defensive pairing. Hainaut has since picked up a contract for Miroz Old Boys in the second tier of Fleftic football. He's the kind of defender that moves up with the attack and takes the occasional long shot from outside the box from time to time, but he does well to go back to the defense when the opponent marauds up the field. Still, he's caught out of position more times than not, but he's young, and there's still time to learn how to be a proper center back.

LB: Tatsuo KAMAKURA 22 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Image (playing in the Fleftic Premier League)
Maybe an older, more experienced left back could've been selected to play for the national side. Unfortunately, a left back from the Fhulghamous Peninsula better than Kamakura hasn't been discovered yet, so the team will have to settle for him for the moment. But surely there must be some quality in him though as he's been signed by Marinos Thimpodopoulos, the surprise package of the recently concluded Fleftic Premier League season.

RM: Aidan POWER Jr. 24 y/o, unaffiliated
The only mystery around Aidan Junior, son of local Nepharim legend Aidan Power Sr., is why such a good right midfielder such as himself has been passed over by almost every club that could possibly sign him. He's good enough to play for a Premier League side, but not even Godric Wexler and Arsenal de Releinthi had taken a chance on him. There must be an element to his game that has turned off teams to him. Is there hope for him to get a club this time around?

CM: Kieran MOSKOWITZ 21 y/o, Palatine Opals Image (Pridnestrovia)
Box-to-box midfielder who got a contract with Pridnestrovia's Palatine Opals due to his impressive work in the Runner Cup and the Campionato Esportiva. Looks to repeat his earlier heroics for the country in this Campionato.

CM: Lucian VON FRANKREICH 24 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image (Pridnestrovia)
The other Fhulghamousian central midfielder was signed by another Pridnestrovian club, namely Union Rheinburg. Frankreich is a holding midfielder who can get the ball out of sticky situations and feed passes to the attack, although he is susceptible to being crowded out with the right pressure.

LM: Albert SUZUKI 31 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Image (Abanhfleft)
One of two players on the Fhulghamousian side who had already been playing club football before switching allegiances to the Fhulghamous Peninsula. It probably helps that he hasn't received an international call-up for Abanhfleft before going to the Fhulghamous. He's doing well for Marinos as a left midfielder, and he's certainly one of the best players on the team.

CF: SEBASTIANO Pelucci 26 y/o, RIuwiee United Image (Abanhfleft)
The other player who plays in the Fleftic Premier League, Sebastiano is a recognized striker playing for Riuwiee United, one of the top teams in the Fleftic top tier. He's got his fair share of goals for both club and country, and he'll be looking to add to his tally in the Campionato Esportiva.

CF: Max FETFATZIDIS 25 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Image (Abanhfleft)
No one had been paying attention to Max before he helped get Marinos Thimpodopoulos promoted to the Fleftic Premier League, and his amazing 32 goals that season was enough to earn him a N$40m transfer to Rosenpfelblatz City. Max would've taken over Sebastiano Pelucci's spot, but Mephistopheles injured himself playing baseball with the Trendstart Conquistadors, so Max is starting for the Fhulghamous now.

If you RP before I do, you may:
- Choose my scorers (remember to watch substitution events in my RPs!)
- Godmod most scoring events (see below for rules about injury or death)
- RP injuries to my players, so long as they are not career-ending
- Not godmod player injuries by default. If something needs to be consistent with your RP and you absolutely cannot live without godmodding injury events, send me a TG and we'll talk.
- Hand out yellow cards at will.
- Only hand out one (1) red card without the need to TG me.
- Not kill my starting strikers or any staff member. Please TG me so I know, but I probably won't refuse killing anyone else. After all, this is the CoH, so why not throw a few players into eternity?

Here is the Gregoryisgodistan soccer team's roster. Our team is nicknamed the Foot Slaves. Our style modifier is -5

Head Coach: Secret Police Agent Dominic Button
Assistant Coaches: Slave Beater 8AUSUJA and Horse Beater LOICHESDRACKX394EUD

Gregoryisgodistani names have the title first, which is usually whatever job they have. Then comes either the government ID sequence (for commoners) or the name (for government VIP's.) If that is the same, they are the same person even if the title is different. However, government VIPs can change their name whenever they want.

All players play domestically in the Gregoryisgodistan Soccer League except as noted. Only government VIPs are permitted to play club soccer outside Gregoryisgodistan. All clubs are accurate as of the last UICA cycle.

Lineup:

GK Prune Farmer 3818F - Prune Farmers FC (Age 22)
DL Police Agent Jorge Warlord - FC 17 June (Age 29)
DC Enemy Crusher Fatty Footy - AC Enemy Crushers (Age 24)
DC Prune Farmer HUXU88238ASF - Prune Farmers FC (Age 25)
DR Slave Catcher I913AFBSBFI239 - Police Squad (Age 27)
DMC History Teacher CZDE9745 - Coastal Soccer Club (Age 26)
ML Soldier 0EDCK13DHI - Military FC (Age 25)
MR Prune Farmer 913881 - FC 17 June (Age 33)
OMC Guy Who Cleans Up Behind The Elephant at the Circus P0120AZNNAU - FC 17 June (Age 24) (A)
FW Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory Xylocrap Notatypo - FC 17 June (Age 20)
FW Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory Death to San Jose Guayabal -Winnipeg United (Quebec) (Age 30) (C)

Bench:

GK TV Repairman 99SFIDSF - November 5 SC (Age 21)
GK Youth IKDUCHALAD - Coastal Soccer Club (Age 16)
DL/DC Xylocarp Smasher XILE42 - FC 17 June (Age 18)
DC Prune Farmer LISHERWIZE - Prune Farmers FC (Age 21)
DC Police Officer YSHERKOW91239 - Police Squad (Age 27)
DR Slave Beater YUSEAXA - FC 17 June (Age 24)
ML Hacker Fred'); DROP TABLE Rosters;-- - Rouyn-Noranda Coal Diggers FC (Quebec) (Age 26)
ML/MR Pervert Chaser KIS9DLLMZMAABDB - Missile Minders (Age 30)
MC/OMC/DMC Slave Beater SUAXMC91 - FC 17 June (Age 26)
FW Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory Robert Possibe - Real Campo Grande (Valladares) (Age 27)
FW Loyal Youth Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory Death To Dumpy O'Rumpy And His Spectacularly Hideous Hair (Age 17)

Notes: Soccer Captain Laredo Potato has retired from the national team. ... Youth IKDUCHALAD is the youngest player ever to be named to a Gregoryisgodistani senior squad, but as the third-string goalkeeper, it is unlikely he will ever play. Indeed, behind two young goalkeepers on the depth chart, he may never play.... Youth XILE42 has been selected to the new title of Xylocarp Smasher now that he is an adult. He smashes xylocarps/coconuts, especially the sapient ones ... Soldier 0EDCK13DHI is one of two members of Military FC not to be killed in the Great War, mainly because he was playing with the national team.... As part of an effort to have all citizens identify with Lord Almighty Gregory, the Gregoryisgodistani government eliminated birthdays except for Lord Almighty Gregory's, and all citizens saw their ages increase on June 1, the Gregoryisgodistani New Year. Lord Almighty Gregory's Birthday is June 17. All citizens must give him a present.

OOC: If you don't get the hacker reference, see this comic. If you still don't get it, entering that name as a database input in certain programming languages will delete all the rosters from the file. Feel free to RP this crashing your computers or something like that.

Uniforms (by Libertad Sportswear):
Image

From left to right, our home kit, our away kit, and our third kit (in case of clash.)

Home games will be played at Lord Almighty Gregory National Stadium, the newly rebuilt national stadium in Capital District. It was rebuilt following the Wolfopian terrorist attack (OOC: a false flag by Gregoryisgodistan's government) and seats 175,617. It is a guaranteed sellout for every game since people will be forced to attend if it does not sell out.

Image

These crimes are punishable by death in Gregoryisgodistan. While we are somewhat more lenient for foreigners, if you flagrantly violate them while in Gregoryisgodistan you will be punished severely. Probably fatally. So don't do it. As an example of what is flagrant and what isn't, farting quietly or privately will be overlooked if you are a foreigner, but holding a "Who can have the smelliest fart" contest in public will get all the farters executed.

RP Permissions: Basically, do whatever you want but expect reciprocation. If you card my players, I'll card yours. If you kill my players, I'll kill yours. Just don't kill Lord Almighty Gregory, our head of state and alleged deity. Also, if you are going to refer to my nation by a different name for IC reasons (like Gregoryisnotgodistan) please either TG me or leave an OOC note saying you are referring to Gregoryisgodistan. I frequently search for mentions of my nation, but if it's not mentioned by name, that doesn't help. So either mention it by name in an OOC note or TG me to give me a heads up. You don't need to wait for permission with the TG, but please send it so I can respond to the RP. Also, striking out the "isgod" part (as in Gregoryisgodistan) causes it to not show up on the search, so this will not fulfill the notification requirement. However, feel free to use that style as long as you either mention me by name without the strikethrough in the same post or TG me to let me know about the post. And don't flagrantly violate the laws of Gregoryisgodistan while in Gregoryisgodistan and expect to get away with it. Taunting us with chants of "coconut" or shirtless fans while we are playing away or at neutral sites is fine and encouraged, but if you try it in Gregoryisgodistan, those fans are probably going to die. Painfully. Which is fine by me if it’s OK with you. TG me if you have questions as to what is flagrant and what isn’t. Also, no completely unrealistic scoring events such as 80 meter goals.
Gregoryisgodistan, population 75,000,000. All citizens are required to worship Lord Almighty Gregory, our head of state, as a deity.

Valerian Nights - Part One

Wilson Tahiri

“Everything we’ve worked for, everything that we engineered, it’s on the verge of collapsing,” said the man who was following Wilson Tahiri through the halls of the team hotel. “This house of cards, it’s going to come crashing on our heads. Trust me on this. Soon enough, the wrong people are going to do too much digging, and all your skeletons are going to come flying out of the closest and into the public view. I don’t want that to happen-”

“So what are you suggesting I do? Resign? We’re already in too far. You told me that the past was impossible to figure out,” Wilson replied. The half Nordskanian man glanced at his friend, an annoyed but curious look in his eyes. “How is anyone going to get the records from Nordskania? If anything, the Communist Party has held on even tighter to its intel during the proxy war with Anglatia.”

“And if the Communist Party is subjugated if the war goes hot, that intel will become public knowledge and everyone will know that your story about managing two clubs back home is bullshit,” snapped the man, running a hand through his hair in frustration. “It won’t be long after that before they do more research into the past and find that you were no exec at Bathgate, also. I’m saying you should quit while you’re still ahead, and lay low until we know if the Nordskanian records are going to be released.”

“It’s not happening,” said Wilson. He stepped into an elevator and pushed the button for the ground floor. “Look, I’d rather prove my worth and show that I’m worth keeping around. Even if they find out that I’m a world class bullshitter. Quitting won’t help, it’s not like I can just quit and retract those lies.”

“This is going to backfire. Big time. We should lay low and come back-”

“Not. Happening. Period,” Wilson sighed, and there was silence until the elevator opened. “You worry too much, brother. Now… Do you want to come to training and get that job experience you wanted, or no?”

=====

Marco Saint Paul

Marco could hardly believe that he was such a star despite never playing a match for a senior level team yet. He was a bigger star than some of the regular starters for the national team, which could be seen by the media’s reactions to his comments. Well, maybe he could have handled their questions better. As he worked out with a large weights machine, he rewatched his interview on GASN. It had been in the hotel lobby earlier, when he was cornered by dozens of reporters who wanted to speak with him for the first time since he had left Bathgate’s organization.

“Marco, did you leave Bathgate City because of playing time or because of a rift with Ajay Oyekan?”

“None of the above.”

“Is it true that Finn Muerig promised you a future spot in the lineup that you turned down for more money?”

“I’m not making more money at Emerald City.”

“Was your recent training ground argument with Blaze Chrzanowska caused by relationship trouble?”

“That’s not your business.”

“Marco, the media needs a proper answer from you.”

“It wasn’t caused by relationship trouble. Me and Blaze couldn’t be closer. We’re best friends, even. Best friends don’t always get along.”

“Was the fight about Ajay Oyekan?”

“You’ll have to ask Ajay about that.”

“Marco, what do you think of those who say that you’re a traitor to your hometown for leaving Bathgate?”

“They can go fuck themselves. They would leave too, if they had to live and work in and around the circus that our team has been turned into. This club used to be great, but it’s a complete joke now.”

“Is there a growing rift between you and Blaze, even if you consider her a best friend?”

“Fuck you, man,” Marco had said, before pushing his way through the crowd to leave. He had turned his backwards Bathgate Irons cap around and pulled a hood over his head, disappearing into the stream of people on the street. Looking back, it would have been a better option in the long run to not get so angry at the last reporter. But it was too late to change anything.

Marco’s workout was interrupted when someone else walked into the hotel weight room. “Those reporters are annoying, aren’t they?” chuckled Blaze Chrzanowska, leaning in the doorway and watching Marco workout. “I… Uh… Are you almost done? I came to tell you something.”

Marco sat up, standing and looking in Blaze’s direction. He reached for his bottle of energy drink, taking three long gulps before nodding towards her. “Yeah?”

“I was able to get front row tickets for the music festival this evening, and I wanted to know if you want to go with me. We could make it a date, if you wanted…” Blaze blurted out, staring at her feet. Marco had never seen her like this, and it was almost amusing. Her tough demeanor was gone, replaced by an aura of nervousness that he would expect from anyone but her. He couldn’t help but smile slightly when he saw that her face was bright red. “No pressure, though. If you want, I could go with Isa instead-”

“Blaze, calm down. You look like you’re gonna have a heart attack. Of course I’ll go,” Marco laughed, placing two fingers under her chin and lifting her head up, so she was looking straight at him. He flashed a charming smile, stepping slightly closer to her. “And you say this is a date? I guess my theory was right. You are into me.”

“I wanted to tell you earlier, but-”

“I fucking knew it!” shouted a deep voice from down the hall. Both Blaze and Marco turned, instantly recognizing the voice as Ajay’s.

“Were you following me?” asked Blaze, looking pissed that Ajay had ruined her moment. There was no reply, because Ajay had ran off. Blaze sighed, rolling her eyes and turning to Marco. “Hold on. I have to talk to her about this.”

Sami Haawk

“When you think of Monarch, you think of greatness,” said Carson Volk, leading Sami Haawk through the city of Ross. “You think of Ross United going back to back. You think of the Underfell Storm and their utter dominance. And you think of the greats. Andros, Carlito, Grier, MSP, Venczel, Narang, and others. Sure, there’s other brands, but they don’t have a lineup like ours, or a brand like ours. Voltage Sports would offer you more cash, but let’s be real… Are you going to get your name out there by signing with them? Half the country doesn’t know who they are. But everyone recognizes the Monarch M. Sami Haawk, we want you to be the next member of the Monarch family.”

“Do you? I can assure you that I’m not the one you want to build a good brand,” stated Sami, wearing his best poker face. “Unless being involved in what might be the biggest trial in Anglatian sports history is going to help build your brand.”

“We’re aware of the risks, and we’ve decided that you’re worth any risk we take to get you on our roster,” said Carson, stopping and turning Saami towards one of the larger buildings in the district. “Take a look at what Monarch can do for you.”

There was a massive poster on the side of the skyscraper, which showed Sami with his back to the camera, a steel crown on his head. The poster was grayscaled, contrasting with the white lettering that said ‘YOUR KING IS HERE’. Sami looked up and down at the poster, before turning to Carson and smiling. “Where do I sign?”

Nickname: The Cormorants

Champions and then third - Nephara's getting the hang of this whole 'World Cup' thing. Now it just needs to return to dominance in the regional tournaments, and the squad is at a stage where that shouldn't be too hard. And yet, the side has a transitional feeling to it - the side is capable, but the big stars are either aging or failed to shine in the World Cup. And after a disappointing Eagles' Cup, some silverware (comfortably attained, God willing) would do a world of good to Shale's legacy.

Overall Record
264 wins - 51 draws - 82 losses
846 scored - 474 conceded

First Team and Tactics
Image
As always, the Cormorants play hard, physical and compact football on the defensive and quick, broad and ruthless on the attack, especially loving to absorb pressure and hit on the break. Set pieces are also something of a specialty, especially with Ashdown taking them. The fullbacks are expected to overlap with their wingers and provide much of the team's width, with Scafidis (/Voeller) the big target woman and Amokachi (/Cautcher/Cantor) the quick-footed finisher beside them.

Staff
Manager - Reinhard Shale - Age 54
Assistant Manager - Michael Brandon - Age 41

Reinhard Shale is an experienced manager who's been there and done it all. Making his name by bringing Maximum Rovers into the Premiership and establishing them as a punchy underdog, he won the league with AFC Treason before managing Buyan to their finest performances. He was ultimately sacked after a dip in performances, but not to be dissuaded, he became the first manager to win the Premiership with two different clubs by bringing Crisisbless to the title. A popular presence with the press, Shale is a motivator without compare and an underrated tactician with an eye for telling substitutions. Michael Brandon might well be his successor - a legendary figure for the Cormorants and Directus as a holding midfielder, Nephara's first ever player to be widely regarded as world-class, he's taken his incisive knowledge of the sport and razor-sharp intellect into coaching.

Goalkeepers
1 - GK - Justinian Hargrave (Image Starling) - Age 30 - 22 caps, 7 clean sheets
12 - GK - Matt Vintner (Image Brinemouth) - Age 28 - 5 caps
20 - GK - Apostolos Tsattalios (Image Vermillion Rage) - Age 22 - Uncapped

Justinian Hargrave remains the steady, stalwart presence between the posts. Not an especially modern goalkeeper, but a commanding leader and an excellent shot-stopper who rarely makes a mistake. Vintner's more modern, but wasn't convincing in his chances in the Eagles' Cup, losing even his temporary place. He's still excellent for his club, where his better aspects can show themselves more. Tsattalios has the potential to outshine either, coming in on the strength of his first full season as a favoured starter. Hopes are very high indeed for the young man.

Defenders
2 - RB - Mirko Koehler (Image Starling) - Age 24 - 4 caps
3 - LB - Hyacinth Surman (Image Starling) - Age 24 - 12 caps
5 - CB - Calliope Katskalidis (Image AFC Treason) - Age 29 - 81 caps, 5 goals
6 - CB - Malachite Scharner (Image Jungle Strike) - Age 26 - 45 caps, 2 goals
13 - CB - Diedrich Frostmarris (Image Molsbik Arkjet) - Age 24 - 14 caps
19 - RB/LB - Scylla Vyntra (Image AFC Treason) - Age 27 - 59 caps, 4 goals
22 - CB - Dieter Konoval (Image Chatswood) - Age 22 - 1 cap

Katskalidis and Scharner - who recently became the first Nepharim to play in Vilita - were the centre-halves that saw Nephara win a World Cup and they've only become stronger since, both individually and as a powerful partnership. They're still flanked by Vyntra, one of the best attacking fullbacks in the world, and one of Starling's capable, defensive-minded fullbacks in either Surman or Koehler. Frostmarris and Konoval are both extremely promising centre-halves in their own right - the former even won caps for Apox shortly before the federation folded, the latter has been unflinching under pressure for Chatswood.

Midfielders
4 - HM - Tanith Rainsford (Image Mâ Âlâmëómë, vc) - Age 29 - 80 caps, 4 goals
7 - RM - Adnan Szalai (Image Ulsa) - Age 25 - 47 caps, 15 goals
8 - CM - Elaine Ashdown (Image Hastmead Diamante, c) - Age 32 - 130 caps, 42 goals
11 - LM - Lienke Vesper (Image AFC Treason) - Age 27 - 48 caps, 8 goals
13 - RM - Mariska Woodspur (Image AFC Treason) - Age 23 - 6 caps, 1 goal
14 - CM - Malachi Gallagher (Image Starling) - Age 26 - Uncapped
16 - LM - Jess Silkman (Image Bishop) - Age 24 - 2 caps
23 - HM - Marijana Kuralay (Image Northern Union) - Age 28 - 23 caps, 2 goals

This is probably Elaine Ashdown's last Campionato - she's said she's likely to internationally retire after the next World Cup. She's still a world-class midfielder, just her legs have slowed somewhat. She's partnered ably by Rainsford, as ever. Rainsford's never been quick, but she's an exemplary holding midfielder in all other aspects. Lienke Vesper is held in high regard by Shale both individually and for her synergy with club teammate Vyntra - something that the dynamic young Woodspur shares. Adnan Szalai is by this stage in his and Ashdown's career arguably the best player on the team, with searing runs down the right, a mazy unpredictability with his runs and a street-footballer's way of going through people either to cross, pass or score himself. Gallagher is a powering box-to-box man, Silkman an impressively technical, incisive winger. A reliable, versatile holding midfidler, Kuralay becomes the first Brenecia-based current Nephara international.

Forwards
9 - ST - Chrysanthe Scafidis (Image Brinemouth) - Age 26 - 31 caps, 14 goals
10 - ST - Claudia Cautcher (Image Starling) - Age 28 - 6 caps, 5 goals
15 - ST - Igrene Cantor (Image AFC Treason) - Age 27 - 19 caps, 10 goals
17 - ST - Asher Voeller (Image Violence Chariots) - Age 27 - 5 caps, 1 goal
21 - ST - Penumbra Amokachi (Image Mâ Âlâmëómë) - Age 26 - 57 caps, 33 goals

One big, one small. Scafidis is the big, a lanky tower of lean muscle with a keen intelligence for getting into the perfect position, and acts as an ideal foil for the wonderfully arrogant, classy Amokachi, a woman who can seemingly snap her fineers and score a goal. Voeller is somewhat limited at international level but any sufficiently large man at velocity can threaten situationally, and he's a good centre-forward. Cautcher can match Amokachi at her best, but she's older, slower and has had an injury-cruelled history, only recently staying fit the past couple of seasons. Mostly. Cantor has slipped somewhat in the pecking order, but she has a laser-guided hammer of a left boot.

(ooc: This series is a first of probably many about the King of Gadirya, Anwar I, who, as the title suggests, is a reformist king)

The Reformist

Excerpts from chapter one of the book, Anwar the Reformist:

Since the beginning of the 5th Era with the reunification of the Home Islands, the Kingdom has been ruled by one king in absolute power. The king, with his numerous advisors, would shape how the economy would function, how the cities would expand and develop, what the military would do, and etcetera. But ever since the reign of Anwar I which began 16 years ago in the year 221, the king has been conceding power to the people. In his first year in power, elections were held after the 53-year-old himself drafted a constitution that created a unicameral parliament called the "House of Commons". There, men and women could vote for numerous political parties that sprang up following the Royal Decree of 221 which decriminalized the creation and maintaining of political parties. The year after that Hisein Boulos, who was aligned with the king, was elected as the first Prime Minister of Gadirya which at the time was a ceremonial role with 75% of the 150 available seats already preassigned to politicians loyal to the king. Government figures point out that over 66% of the available voting population voted in the first election. Seeing that a substantial majority of the people in Gadirya went to the polls for the first time, Anwar I reduced the amount of preassigned seats from 113 to 75 further allowing the common citizenry to have a voice in Gadirya's government. Yet, the role of Prime Minister wasn't strong, the king could easily dismiss a PM and call for new elections or override the parliament with a Royal Decree. But for a nation that spent over two centuries in absolute rule, this was a big step in the right direction.

Anwar I, also called Anwar Maalouf, was born in the capital Charmat in 5E 168 to King Muhammed IV and his 2nd wife, Ramla. Anwar was educated in the University of Gadirya but after two years; transferred to the University of Felix located in Santa Maria, Felix where he became the first royal to be educated outside of Gadirya. At the University of Felix he studied Politics, Government & Civics, Esportivan History, and Civil Engineering. There he discovered democracy, civil rights, and, freedom of thought in Felix, something very alien in Gadirya. Following his graduate studies in Felix he returned to Gadirya full of brand new knowledge in a variety of subjects including the ability to speak four languages, his native Arabic and Turkish and now Spanish and English. He decided to use his Civil Engineering degree to help build his nation from the ground up. He and along with thousands of other men and, some women, built the modern infrastructure in Gadirya today, helping the nation modernize into the current age. Electricity wires and fiber optic cable were expanded to all over the nation as the current king at the time wanted Gadirya to fit in with the rest of the region after years of isolation and self-development. Muhammed IV had numerous potential heirs to the throne. He knew that if Gadirya wanted to continue their march into the new age, they needed a king that wasn't pampered and knew what hard work meant. So over the years he eliminated a lot of the potential heirs to the throne. Out of the 18 sons in total, Muhammed had only 5 that met his criteria. And out of those 5 only 2 were close enough to him that he would select as his heir. One was of course, Anwar but the other was his half-brother, Ramadan who came from Muhammed's 1st wife. Ramadan was an exceptional man, he was older than Anwar, by 12 years, and seemed to accomplish more than the younger Anwar.

Ramadan's route to contention for the throne was different compared to his half-brother. Ramadan graduated from The Royal Military University of Gadirya where he majored in Military Tactics and Politics. In the following years after he graduated, he rose through the ranks of the Gadiryan Navy and became the first royal in over 60 years to become Admiral of the Navy. He was extremely popular with the upper class of Gadiryan society as many well to do people admired how strong Ramadan was. Anwar on the other hand, was admired by the commoners, middle class, and working class people as he did most of his work in Gadiryan mainland. Nonetheless Ramadan's rise wasn't just attributed to his bloodline, instead, his hard work eliminating pirates in the Home Islands helped Gadirya open their waters to international trade. And some say without him, Gadirya wouldn't have the same prosperity as it does now. Many experts closely in touch with the Royal government put Ramadan as the most likely candidate in line to be king. Anwar knew this as well, but still worked hard at what he did best, being a civil engineer while his older half-brother continued to make a name for himself in the Navy.

Tragically though, a brain aneurysm took Ramadan Maalouf's life at only the age of 59 making Anwar the only preferable candidate to be the next king of Gadirya. The nation was in mourning, as they laid to rest the popular Ramadan. In a speech following his son's death an aging Muhammed told the Gadiryan people that their next ruler was going to be his son, Anwar. The nation, still grief-stricken by the sudden death of the "Son of Gadirya" was greeted to a moving and powerful speech by Anwar. He passionately, eloquently, and respectfully talked about the life and legacy of Ramadan. Never did he mention how he is now the heir to the throne except when he first spoke thanking his father for appointing him. The nation soon fell in love with the skinny but tall, Felixian educated, Civil Engineer. Four years later Muhammed died of old age and Anwar, who did numerous engagements with Gadiryans of all social classes became the next king. "The People's King" as he was labelled by the media and promised to introduce a new form of government by the end of his first year as king of Gadirya

He followed through his promises with reforms and brought a new twist to his title of "The People's King"; many in Gadirya soon began to call Anwar, Anwar the Reformer. The first title given to a king in over two centuries since Muhammed the Great, the first king of Gadirya. The reforms made some in the royal court nervous, but with the amount of popularity Anwar had with the public there was no way to say no or provide at least some resistance to the radical reforms. Despite that lack of resistance, Anwar was rolling out the reforms in a slow, pragmatic pace, knowing the royal court and other conservatives were wary of these changes. To shift the focus from politics and governmental structures away from those who disagreed with it, Anwar began to ambitiously reform how sports were played in the country. The next chapter of Anwar the Reformist will explain what is currently doing.
