Runner Cup Seven (OOC)

After a brief two cycle brake, the Runner Cup is back.

This is a tournament for nations who still wish to pursue success in international association football yet did not qualify for the World Cup or the Cup of Harmony. This tournament is not WCC sanctioned, which means it will NOT effect your KBP; the KBPC formula* is used to generate ranks in this tournament. Since it has been two cycles since the last Runner Cup, KPB will make up all of the ranking points.

* regular KPB except for following exceptions additions:
1/2 of points earned last Runner Cup will be added.
1/4 of points earned two Runner Cups ago will be added.
1x points earned for last Runner Cup Playoffs will be added.
1/2 of points earned two Runner Cup Playoffs ago will be added.

Nations that participated in the latest world cup (World Cup 75), did not qualify for the World Cup proper, and were not invited to the Cup of Harmony (CoH 66) are eligible for this tournament. If the nation meets the above qualifications, they will be on the invitation list below. To accept the invitation, simply state your intent to do so on this thread or telegram Chiata. I will telegram the invited nations today or tomorrow.

Any nation capable and willing to host this event may bid to be a host. This is a perfect event for nations wanting to stretch their wings and try hosting a small event. All nations that have signed up by the time bids are closed may vote on which host they want. You do not need to qualify for the Runner Cup in order to host it. If you want to host but did not qualify, simply state that you are not signing up and are only posting a host bid.

While we stated our intention to turn down all invitations to the Cup of Harmony, let us be the first to sign up for the Runner Cup. As Rule Theriault has disbanded our former National Team, we will instead elect to send our national champion high school side.

We're going to need to flesh out these bids. Look around at some other bids (such as these recent winning ones). Obviously, they don't have to be as good as the examples. The basic structure is:
-RP info about hosting nation
-Hosting experience
-Scoring system and RP grading
-Desired tournament format

Host bids are going to stay open for a little while as these bids are constructed.

RP Info
Indo-Malaysia is comprised of large islands in South East Asia, and is renowned for its bloody history. The nation is led by Eternal President Alex Moore, who has begun a move to more modern living standards and decreased military activity.

Its golden beaches and turquoise sea is popular with tourists, resulting in many coastal locations being big tourist locations. The biggest stadiums in the nation are in Java and Surabaya, two major cities, though there is a culturally important one in Port Moresby popular with sightseers.

Hosting Experience
If I were to Co-Host this, this would be a first experience of mine; I am looking to host something like this first, before I move on to larger scale tournaments.

Scoring
I use a software called Xkoranate, and I use the football module in it. RP Points are awarded for good RP'ing after the last cutoff. Things considered in RP's are:

Detail
Realism/Anti-Godmodism
Visually Appealing Aesthetics/Formatting

I would like to leave this for the main host, but heres an Idea:

I would like the Qualifiers to be a Round Robin-like stage, with the top two teams in each group making It to the Round of Sixteen (Its just a name..). From the R16 and onwards, it will be a knockout competition.

HUElavia Hosting Bid

RP Info:
HUElavia is an equatorial nation known for its lush rainforests in the south and mountainous regions in the north. A mixed culture of Spanish and Portuguese roots, HUElavia is a melting pot of diverse ethnicity, well known for its peaceful past and open-arms policies towards anyone who comes into HUElavia. The country is known as well for its beautiful beaches and clean waters (due to HUElavia's strong policies towards environmental protection), as well as large tourist attractions throughout the country. HUElavians are known not only to be passionate and caring towards everyone, but they also value the beautiful game of Football. From this, HUElavia has some of the most iconic stadiums in their region (Maritime MAST), which both of their largest stadiums in all sports is located in its capital, Curumba. HUElavia is currently led by the 40th President, Rafael Lima.

Hosting Experience:
HUElavia was the host for a defunct tournament called the "Unity Cup," which was done only once. HUElavia finished 3rd Place in that tournament. Essentially, if given the hosting rights, this would be HUElavia's first significant tournament as hosts. HUElavia is also open towards a Co-Hosting bid.

Scoring:
I will use the scoring program xkoranate, and I will give RP Points in an accumulative manner. Things I am looking for in RPs is the following:
1. Detail
2. Realism (Godmodding will result in a deduction of RP Points)
3. Formatting

Tiebreaker:
In the event of a tie in a group position, the following will be done to determine a winner:
Points, Goal Difference, Goals In Favor, Goals Against, Head-to-Head result, coin toss.

Desired Tournament Format:
I would desire to host a tournament with 16, 24, or 32 teams, but it would depend on how many sign up or qualify. Depending on how many teams participate will determine how many teams will be split into a group and how many will qualify per qualifying group. If it is 16 teams, the teams will be split into 4 groups of 4 teams, with the top two advancing. If it is 24 teams, it will be 6 groups of 4 teams, with the top two advancing, along with the four best 3rd Place teams. If 32 teams, 8 groups of 4 teams with top two advancing through the groups.

Falatulu's Bid for Runner Cup Seven

The Republic of Falatulu presents the following bid for Runner Cup Seven:

Format

Currently, there are 15 nations signed up. Whatever the final number of signups is, we will utilize a single round robin group stage format followed by knockout rounds. Should the final number be 15, that format will be 3 groups of 5 with the top 2 teams from each group and the best 3rd place team advancing to the Quarterfinals. The other 2 third place teams will play a play-in match for the final spot in the Quarterfinals. If we reach 16 signups, we will use a 4 groups of 4 format with the top 2 from each group advancing to the Quarterfinals. For numbers larger than 16 (barring the extremely unlikely event of a large influx of signups), we will use 4 uneven groups of at least 4 with the top 2 advancing to the Quarterfinals.

Scorinator/RP Bonus

We have elected to use Xkorinate, with the World Cup 68 version of SQIS. The full range of Xkorinate-style modifiers will be in effect and RP bonus will be cumulative, generous and awarded with an emphasis on quality over quantity. The RP bonus scale will not be made public. Realism and formatting will, per the usual NS Sports convention, not be used as criteria for awarding RP bonus.

Tiebreakers

We will break ties using the following order of tiebreakers: HTH record, HTH goal difference, Overall Goal Difference, HTH Record against strongest non-tied group mate, HTH Goal Difference against strongest non-tied group mate, HTH record against second strongest non-tied group mate, HTH Goal Difference against second strongest non-tied group stage (and so-on and so-on until all group mates are exhausted), Goals Against, Coin Flip (OOC: Rank+RP Bonus or, in the event that's tied, scorination of a neutral site match between the tied teams under knockout round rules).

About Falatulu

Falatulu is a tropical island nation located to the south of the Free Republics in the Greater Republica region to the east of Esportiva. Long famous as the party capital of the Free Republics, Falatulu has been reliably hostile to their former federation's string of dictators in recent years. Hosting Experience

The IslandDome in Toakameau hosted a World Cup group stage match between Cassadaigua and Nephara back in World Cup 68. Other than that, Falatulu has only hosted one previous international event, the 16th Campionato Esportiva. However, the user behind Falatulu has (primarily as Saintland and the Free Republics) hosted World Cup 68, Cup of Harmony 58, BoF 59, the X Winter Olympics, 2 WBCs, a World Bowl, a WCoH, an IBC, a CR and numerous other tournaments: basically just about everything of significance except the Rugby World Cup, the Summer Olympics, the CE, the AOCAF and a Casaran format WCQ.

Sadly, you didn't take part in World Cup 75 Qualifying, so you can't participate in Runner Cup Seven. There's a host of other competitions starting up, so I suggest looking around the forum and finding something you like.

I was waiting for HUElavia to post their bid, but it looks like Falatulu jumped in as well. Bidding is now CLOSED. We still have 15 nations, so I think 16 nations, starting in four groups of four and then knockouts, is the best format. Host voting will begin now and end July 23rd, around 16:00 EST. The choices are:
1. Indo-Malaysia
2. HUElavia
3. Falatulu
