WCFH organiser Hunt confirms Liventian domestic league
Orean, LIVENTIA— The organiser of the World Championship in Field Hockey, Justin Hunt, has announced plans for a professional six-team field hockey league in Liventia.
Hunt, who is president of the Liventia Field Hockey Federation, told a small press conference that the national team's players had agreed to get local sporting clubs to play in a professionally-organised league, which will run for two months a year with each team playing up to two games a week in a 15-game schedule.
More details to follow.

Sarzonian field hockey league basks in title glow
PORTLAND -- Last season, the Sarzonian Field Hockey League struggled to draw an average attendance of 450 per team per match. The top attendance figure was the 972.6 per match attendance by the Nicksia Nobles, a team playing in Sarzonia's largest city.
However, five days after Sarzonia's shock 3-1 victory over two-time defending World Champions Candelaria And Marquez in the third World Championship final, even the team that traditionally had the lowest attendance figures sold out of its season ticket allotment.
The Portsmouth Thunder, which averaged 278 fans per match and never averaged more than 410 in any season, sold 310 season tickets starting the first day the office was open following Sarzonia's championship victory. They had sold 18 season tickets total in the three weeks prior to the championship.
"It crashed our servers," said general manager Matt Raycroft. "We had to hire call centre operators to take ticket sales and we had to do it fast."
The influx of season and individual ticket purchases that followed the championship victory produced a major influx of cash for a league that, quite frankly, needed all the help it could get. Even with "conservative" spending figures, the league said it needed an average attendance of 1,000 to break even. Now, the league projects that it could turn a profit for the first time.
"At this point, five of the six teams have now sold out their allotment of tickets in their respective stadia," said Commissioner David Grimsley. "The only team that hasn't is Woodstock, and that's because they use a much larger venue than the other teams in the league."
That could soon change. The league's teams are in discussions with lacrosse venues in each city except Wilmington, which does not have a lacrosse team. That city is preparing an "urgent" refurbishment of Municipal Stadium, which seats 18,000, to help the team move into a larger venue than the 1,000-seat Bodman Field on the grounds of Weinberg High School. The school has also agreed to install temporary bleachers to increase the stadium's capacity to 2,500.
"It's a nice problem to have," Grimsley said. "We weren't expecting this, but we're quite fortunate."
Grimsley said he has not been approached by Liventia regarding the establishment of a national league, but said he was open to the idea.
"Perhaps we could have a championship match or series between our nations, or a series of friendlies between our teams," he suggested.

You have not long missed the
3rd Field Hockey World Championship. Sign-ups for a fourth should be along in due course.

Due to the CTE of Baranil, the OP of
the other Domestic Hockey topic and no extra effort noticed to keep the old Field Hockey Champions League, as well as the reemergence of this one from the deeps of these boards, I'm moving the Fortis Cup here.
So I present you (again) the
Fortis Cup (I'm dropping the Invitational part for the next posts, since it's an open tournament).
Before establishing any set of rules regarding coëfficients, number of teams by nation
et cetera, I plan to wait and see if this topic gets more attention. I will start with a tentative deadline of
July 17, 23h59 GMT, three weeks before the Olympics. If there's a decent number of established leagues transferring to this topic, we can see some competition. Lathamford champions (as it was the one who revived the topic) are invited to the Fortis Cup.
