Alnio: Continued Survival - Piecing Together after Tragedy
Alnio has been through a lot these past few seasons. After Luuk Aart saved the club from financial struggle, they thought that they’d gotten past their troubles; instead, it turned out to be just the beginning of the struggles of the club. This past season, Alnio managed to finish in eleventh place behind the prowess of Simon Jacobsen and the player of the season for the Brewers - Katie Rothers.
The Cassadagan left midfielder scored ten goals from her Left Midfielder spot, being a reliable third scorer for the team that ultimately struggled to find goals. With Rothers helping Jacobsen and Croxier, Alnio righted the ship and ended the season on a bit of a roll, finishing six points clear of the Promotion/Relegation Playoff berth and only a point behind tenth placed Felswyr.
In the most recent offseason, Alnio brass shed everybody who wanted to do more than just survive in the Red League, giving them a chance to jump ship. Simon Jacobsen found a new home in Char Sara FC of Valanora while Tine Enaux was taken by Chromatik. They were busy trying to find suitable replacements when tragedy struck. Previous National Team player Ga-yeong Han was found dead in her home, and Alnio was left wondering what had happened to one of the most recognizable players to ever wear the red and white uniform. The club spent a week in mourning, numerous players contributed to news articles commemorating her legacy, and everything round to a halt.
However, life and sport are relentless. Alnio will have to carry on - and they still have some pieces left to continue on their campaign to become a consistent survivor in the Red League before refocusing to trying to make the top half of the table. In obtaining Pirjo Loefgren of Squornshelous, they help a defensive core that still has Dario Paterson and Keith Braxton; Kaukok Arvidsson joins Noboa, Sterling, and the aforementioned Rothers in the midfield; Sylvain Croxier is joined by one Bonagiunta Rossi, a young fireballer from Savigliane who is just starting his career for one of the fastest rising sides in the sporting world. It remains to be seen just how many seasons Alnio will be able to keep his services, but they’ll take all the help that they can get.
Why is Alnio ranked so low? It's nothing against them; tragedy can make a team stronger, after all. They’re in the group of teams alongside Felswyr, Tor, and Omnio who could all falter if they have a bad season; due to the exterior pressure on the club and the new pieces fitting in, we just think that they’ll barely scrape by is all.
Despite having not as much money nor media presence, Alnio has a dedicated fanbase and the momentum of continued survival. A new season and new chapter await in their continued story of contending with, and overcoming, obstacles.

Anomalies: Do Not Fear the Eleventh Hour
Everything was set up for Anomalies were to have a new run at the title. With Amalie Nergård at the helm and the acquisition of Karoline Wellenbrink from Wirr Tsi, Ronald Labbadia, in his second season with the club, had a title contender. Then, mere weeks before the season was supposed to begin, everything changed.
Within hours of the Foxchester Declaration being signed, Valanora recalled all of its athletes from Anaian nations; Anomalies saw themselves lose both their Captain/talisman and the new defender they’d pried from a major contender. They made do by signing midfielder Allauca from Huayramarca and Left Back Kayla Amerigo but were understandably short-staffed and dejected.
Starting 0-3-2, Anomalies improved to 2-4-4 and then 5-5-5 by the halfway point. There was talk about Labbadia needing to be axed, but the brass called for patience, as it had hardly been the Valladar’s fault that all momentum had been taken out of their sails even before the season had begun. Anomalies went on a bit of a run in the second half, improving to 9-10-6 and having a shot at the IFCF berth. They completed the season by going 3-0-2 in the last five games, including a loss to Chromatik on the last day of the season that placed them in seventh place and out of the IFCF for the first time since the inaugural season of the Rainbow League System.
Key players for the squad remained Lainey Wadsworth, who remaims one of the best strikers in the league, Lorena Strausz the ball-spreader, Mithya Hashemi shoring the defense, and Iskender Nur, who did just enough to keep things relevant. They then added on Diocletian Vale and Damir Milcic to help shore up the defense to reach another level. Anomalies have had four players retire - including club legend Kamu Jacobs - as they continue to make up for the loss in momentum that they’ve suffered due to last season.
With the continued presence of the core of Mithya Hashemi, Lainey Wadsworth, and Iskender Nur, this is a squad that can return to prominence quickly; Vale and Milcic join Lina Watt, who continues to feature semi-regularly on the Chromatik NT. This should be a defensively sound squad that uses the duo of Allauca and Hashemi to spread the ball to Wadsworth and beyond - with Non playing the supportive striker role.
Thankfully for the Anomalies, there shouldn’t be any last-minute hijinks this season. If anything, it’s the teams around them in the standings that are going through change - Myana with its youth movement, Chromatik still vying for that first title, and Lhor having to deal with life after having a half season with Hermaeus Mora. This may be that golden opportunity for Labbadia and crew to remind everyone that AFC are a team to be wary of. They absolutely have the pieces to do that.

Chromatik: A Desperate Gamble for Prominence
Pressure has been slowly building on Jannick Kantiola for the last few seasons. After Anomalies completed the first three-peat in the Rainbow League System era, Crossroads won their first title to put insult to injury. As the biggest club in the capital, to have the other two clubs win a title and not have one is a stain to the club. To pin it all on one man isn’t fair, but Kontiola is the man dictating everything.
Chromatik’s season started at 4-3-3, evened out a 6-4-5. 11-6-8 was the record after twenty-five (only three losses in that ten games) and then went 2-2-0 to be in third place before the final Matchday. With it being the Chromia Derby, Chromatik had to defeat Anomalies to secure their IFCF berth. Thankfully, they did to make sure that they’re the top dogs in Chromia, which helped stave off the naysayers.
Understandably, Chromatik went through an offseason of change. They replaced Snéachda with Cixin Nguyen, the talisman of Chromia Central College University’s title winning squad, won the Stephen Kerr sweepstakes to join Trudy Harrison in the youth front. The biggest change?
It’s no surprise that Salavat Caszely has been getting a bit older. Chromatik approached the Transfer Window with the possibility of upgrading at the position and struck gold when Cande Montalban joined from Avida City of Krytenia. It’s the biggest signing in Chromatik history; it remains to be seen whether or not it’ll pay off.
Public sentiment heading into the seventh season of the Rainbow League System is that the title may be a bit too far of a reach; Wirr Tsi remains way too strong of a challenge. Anything short of that secondary IFCL berth will be considered a failure, warranted or not. They’ve spent too much and waited too long to give up the mantle of being the best team in the nation’s capital.
Dun Mekeus may be entering the later years of his career, but the Mriin/Chromatika dual national shows no signs of slowing down, still a serviceable keeper at the Red League level. Kamil Jernejec will get some help from the arrival of Raul Vitan, whose first seasons in Tihon ended with being replaced. Vitan is a player with plenty of upside in the beginning stages of his career with plenty to prove. Don’t be surprised if Stephen Kerr sees plenty of playing time, as the highly touted Tumbran makes his debut with Chromatik.
The loss of Leysa Burns wasn’t the greatest, but Chromatik has a suitable replacement in their books - one Trudy Harrison. One of the key members of Tumbra’s U-18 Championship team spent her first season on the bench, Harrison’s strong fundamentals, youthful exuberance, and willingness to make risky tackles will become very important. Cixin Nguyen’s ability to switch from defense to offense on a dime will come handy as well.
Up front, it’s Cande time - and with a rookie in Ponce De Lann and a veteran in Mario Kogler to support, she’s in the right position to take over as the primary scorer. This team that Kontiola has built is very scary - it’s just too bad that Wirr Tsi is as stacked as they are.

Crossroads: Maintaining Position
After winning the title in Season 5, Crossroads lost Vasiliy Marten Kuznetsov, Maricela Throop, and Kazuo Martin. Despite getting Justiina Dannysdóttir, the Crusaders knew that a repeat of the title would prove to be difficult. So, they set their sights on a lower bar: repeating their presence in the IFCF as they continued to try to become one of the elite teams of the Red League.
Starting 6-4-5, the Crusaders fell to 10-6-9 with five matches to go before making a spirited comeback. Winning three matches and drawing once meant that they were in seventh position; Crossroads took are of business at Omnio while Ming and Anomalies lost, helping the Crusaders into the covetous fifth position that they were shooting for. It was a bona fide coup for the Crusaders, with the way that Ming folded and Anomalies lost to Chromatik; their luck was very fortuitous.
This offseason, Crossroads has obtained two reserves that were National Team players in Nova Williams and Kai Dias, alongside a Defensive Midfielder in Oscar Vincent. Vincent will feature alongside Matthews in an all-Euran defensive midfield core for the Crossroads Crusaders while Williams and Dias provide veteran leadership from the bench.
The goal for Stamper and Spjällesdóttir remains simple - keep building up the "third squad" of Chromia into a legitimate title contender. The biggest departure they've had is Alek Khadur, who was getting on in his years. Taking his place will be one Tommy Waluigi, a keeper on the Qasden national team. They're asking a lot of him, but they think they have a keeper in their keeper.
Crossroads's strength remains their defense. All four starters return to support Waluigi, with Roy being a standout and Devine being an active anchor. With Vincent and Matthews, they have a great supportive duo to move things up to dí Völará, who has proven to be a great young distributor. Janean Goudeau and Janine Hector provide adequate support for Justiina Dannysdóttir to do her thing. The Græntfjaller scored twenty-two goals last season and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon despite being twenty-nine.
Three things are the biggest obstacles on Crossroads's way to another IFCF berth. First, the fact that Tihon, Chromatik, and Anomalies have all upgraded, while Lhor also grabbed a massive signing on their quest to become a top team. Second, Wirr Tsi isn't going to stop anytime soon, and their strangle atop the league only spells trouble for any other team that wants to become someone in this league. Lastly, Crossroads doesn't have the best track record for longevity. Making it to the IFCF for the third season in a row would be a record for the franchise, and history is often a hard thing to fight against.
With adequate finances, great club culture, and staying power, Crossroads has put themselves into a position where they can continue the work that they started to become more than just an also-ran. All that's left to do is to put together a season that affirms their position as a power player going forward in the lifetime of the Red League.

Felswyr: A Change in Vision
The history of Felswyr’s survival in the Red League has been remarkable. Despite being one of the smallest cities to have a team in the Red League, they’ve been the class of the Mountain District, never missing a season and outperforming the bigger cities in Umbar and Z’ai’ai. A few seasons ago, Cilistro Bugarin had that magical year to lift the Frost to a third placed finish, which remains the best placing by the squad to this day so far.
As money continues to flow to the bigger clubs, however, the Frost have noticed themselves slipping away from the IFCF berths, and the last season was no exception. They were never in danger of relegation, mind - even had a zero-goal differential after twenty games - and finished the season in tenth place with a record of 10-4-15. Vissenta Okamoto did well In her first season at the club, leading the way with fifteen goals scored, while previous Chromatik National Team pool player Renate Haggard had ten.
The find of the season ended up being one Sakia Damani, a street footballer that Felswyr had found a week before the season started. Damani scored eleven goals in the season, most of them on surprising plays that relied on creativity. Then, she left. Can anyone blame her?
With the writing written on the wall as far as being able to contend perennially for the IFCF, Felswyr brass decided to let Skip Merriweather go as the Baker Parker wasn’t brought in to merely survive. They went out and found Nicoletta Amaudo of Savigliane instead, someone who’s okay with the project that it will be to keep Felswyr football relevant.
It was more of a quiet offseason for Felswyr, but they made a quiet signing: Alyosha Meledina of Pyazhnaya. Now in a tandem with Tasha Kamarandan, the two youngsters will have a lot to say about how the season goes for Felswyr. Add in Lara Crist from the local university of Felswyr State University, and you’ve got what Felswyr has to offer.
An aging defense will be the question for Felswyr, with all four defenders past the age of twenty-seven; with the leadership of Bellinger - who may as well be Felswyr’s favorite athlete ever - and the youth movement, it should be enough for the Frost to not have to worry about relegation again.
Is simply avoiding relegation enough for Felswyrites? They’ve remained the best team in their District for going on seven years. They’ve proven that quality is better than size or population. Felswyrites are a people who understand what hard work looks like; to them, continued survival will be just fine.

Knetyohai: Making the Most of a Surprise Promotion
When you visit downtown Knetyohai, it becomes apparent exactly what the city is about: the Chromatik Army barracks are the most prominent landmark, and the entire city is arranged in neat rows of streets and houses.
The Warriors have been the city’s pride and joy since the club’s inception, as Knetyohai City FC is stuck in the lower leagues. After having a brief stint in the Red League in the first season of the Rainbow League System, it took six seasons for them to come back, and the title last season was a bit of a surprise.
Led by physical Captain Vivienne Hamaker, a great prospect in Nocoletta Sauvageon, and the duo of Marie Ayotte and Kadek Sherazi, the Warriors, expected to finish fourth in the Orange League last season, trumped the likes of Deprí Sanar, Z’ai’ai, and Hanai Breakers for the title. Ayotte had seven goals and Kadek Sherazi fifteen to lead the way, but it was the Zubai Ignon-led defense that led the way, conceding only twenty-six goals in the season.
Knetyohai doesn’t have a lot of money, but they were able to use their newly promoted status to get Roy Brenner of Tumbra, Kristjana Eiríksdóttir (Kristjana) of Montaña Verde, and Chromatik Élie Dembélé from CdF Celtade. The signing of Brenner and Kristjana takes pressure off of the Warriors’ defense, but the face of the squad is no doubt the duo of RB Nicoletta Sauvageon of Savigliane and RW Marie Ayotte of Quebec.
Nicoletta Sauvageon is the definition of a flexible right back that can change from marking her man to turning the ball toward the midfield on a dime. Marie Ayotte? Very quick turns on the fly to contribute toward attempts at goal. If this squad is to survive, it’ll be because of those two doing their jobs.
Nobody expects Knetyohai to have any shot at surviving this season, not even their fans. They’re here to not be embarrassed, have pride in the fact that they were back in the Red League, and make the most of their experience. Also, it’s a good chance for Nicoletta and Marie to be noticed by better clubs and potentially move up the league. It’s not what Knetyohai wants to hear, but that’s just the life of a high-end Orange League club. For the Warriors, their ties to the Army are worth more than footballing success.
Enjoy the games and the rarely-seen triangle between Knetyohai, Wirr Tsi, and Myana. Enjoy the disciplined nature of the Warriors’ fans, who may as well be professionals themselves at this point. They’re a good, healthy presence to have in the Red League, one of the “good guys” of the sport.

Lanar: A New Burst of Life
Lanar and Sanar (known as Deprí Lanar and Deprí Sanar back then) are the biggest cities in the Rainbow (then Deprí) District. A mainstay in the first few iterations of Chromatik domestic football, they have never done very well in the Red League during the Rainbow League System era. After a Rainbow League System Season 5 where neither of the Red Hawks nor the Yellow Jackets were in the Red League, Lanar saw itself back into the mix ahead of their rivals.
What followed was a season of wonder. Never flirting with disaster, many were thinking that the team would falter after posting a record of 5-6-4 by the halfway point. However, the team would go 5-5-5 in the second half of the season, finishing with a 10-11-9 record - better than anyone thought possible from the recently promoted squad.
Three players scored in double digits for the Red Hawks during the season, with Ryio Camara being the surprise find and Squornshelan Kambiz Ortan leading the way with sixteen. Their ace, though, was the duo of Neal Diamond and Ange Oshe. Diamond was the Left Back that turned crises into opportunities, while Oshe was the key cog in the middle, spreading the ball to the three players up front.
With such a season behind them, Lanar shed the Deprí moniker with pride and looked forward to the next. Losing Ryio Camara immediately isn’t the best, but the addition of San Ortelian Alberto Di Cosmo should help fill the playmaker role. Immacolata Di Maggio, however, is a bit more of a wildcard; he’ll be set loose a bit more than his role back in Knetyohai, and his presence will be needed if this team is to score as many as they did with Camara.
Yeremi Belaustigetigitia is the defending Manager of the Year, being able to get everything out of his charges. This team will always start with the great keeping of Jared Baglowski, who's become a decent keeper at this level. Josee Bonnet, the Captain, is the only Chromatik in the backfield, which has a young teenager in Isak Liverstam, the wily veteran in Davorka Sevcik, and the aforementioned Neal Diamond. That leads up to the young midfield core of Oshe and DI Cosmo, leaving the 7' 1" Schlok and Rousselle to get the ball to Kambiz Ortan, who is only twenty-two.
With the core of the squad so young, there is some noise of a possible push toward the IFCF berths, but that isn't the point of Lanar's stay in the Red League. Their goal is to become the best team in the Rainbow District, play solid fundamental football, and become a mainstay in the Red League. With this roster and the momentum that they've created, that shouldn't be a problem.

Lhor: Here Comes the Money
When Adama Sowe bought Lhor, the vision was to turn the Coastal District club into a contender again; the initial season, Rainbow League System Season Six, was supposed to be one getting their feet under them and gearing up for the seasons to come. Titor Hlinka and his charges went to work in a hurry, though, and it became clear very early that Lhor wasn't here to just survive.
Starting off with a 7-4-4 record, ther was talk that Lhor might have to slow down; that was quickly dispelled when Lhor won the sweepstakes to feature Hermaeus Mora and Augustus Humphreys on their squad. With the addition of the two National Team players, Lhor really picked up steam; Sitting at 10-5-5 after twenty games, Lhor was looking at their last five with a record of 12-7-6 in third place. However, it was a lot of pressure for a team that had just gotten to know each other, and the team went 0-1-4 in their last five games to finish in eighth place.
Though disappointing, it was probably for the best, as both Mora and Humphreys would have to leave the team on the following offseason. Before they left, though, Lhor defeated Crossroads to win the Violet Cup.
As expected, Hermaeus Mora and Augustus Humphreys left the squad. Rila Enix, a consistent performer, was picked up by the Champions of Wirr Tsi. The team decided that Bray Feltzer's stay was over and replaced him with the first Mertagnian striker in the Red League, Dani Emdelbia. They got Orianne Marc on his return home from Nephara, and picked up some good pieces on the bench.
Then, Sowe came through. Gereh Kama is a Banijan who is on the long list to play for one of the strongest nations in the multiverse. Many teams entered into the bidding to get him, but it was Lhor, with the biggest signing in Red League history, that won the Kama sweepstakes with a bid of $25 million NSD or 32.5 million NMS.
Getting a different AM and a different Striker-Winger pair will take some time for the system to work. To expect Lhor to win immediately would be folly, even with the caliber of the player that Kama is. Thankfully for them, Lhorites are a patient bunch who don't mind waiting for the system to start working. Lhor should be a giant slowly stepping up in the standings. First step? Continuing to contend for an IFCF berth and perhaps even achieve one.
Aggression, tireless energy, poise, and success. Gereh Kama is a name that can rival the likes of Lainey Wadsworth and Enrico Hanson-Conavacio. Give this squad a year, and they'll start pushing the likes of the Chromia clubs, Tihon, Myana, and Wirr Tsi. To ask as much from them this season seems to be a bit too much, but with deep pockets and a patient fanbase, it is only a matter of time.

Ming: The Mad Experiment Continues
Ask anyone to describe Ming’s presence in the Red League, and they’d respond with a nervous chuckle. Ever since getting to the Red League, Ming has been one of the most entertaining teams to watch, placing either sixth or twelfth in all the seasons so far. They’ve never scored less than 55 goals in a season, as the high-octane style of Jurtanen’s 4-2-2-2 has really yielded entertaining results.
Last season, Ming absolutely flirted with the IFCF berths, barely not making it in due to losing on the last Matchday; for the second season in a row, they had four players score more than ten goals, with Sagittarius Wright scoring fifteen goals. The fact that they have so many weapons is what sets this team apart.
After conceding 82 goals two seasons ago, the revamped defense of Gwenerth, Guo, Zhusopov, and Delafosse came together to only concede 60, a decrease of 22. Qera Tierra was a serviceable stopgap at keeper. Losing 2-3 to Ming was what gave away the last IFCF berth to Crossroads, but it was a fun year of football for the Dynasty.
In the offseason, the Lee Foundation decided to cash in a bit, getting Benedict Wilkins from Pria Technical College as a long-term replacement for Qera Tierra while also obtaining Josip Brajdic, a striker from 1896 Ebor who is a bit of a poacher. Brajdic should fit right in with Ming, with Vorster and Dostoevich feeding the ball to Wright and Brajdic; with Potts and Thomas to distribute the ball, they’ll continue to be one of the highest goalscoring teams in the league.
Ming's mindset about their squad remains one of the most unique in the league - the fanbase isn't really concerned about where they finish as long as they continue to play entertaining, high-octane football. Many experts think that this is because of Ming's populace - high-end people who care more for something fun to watch than success. This does take the pressure off of Ming's brass and the squad.
Given the amount of firepower they have in their front four, Ming will always be in contention of an IFCF berth. Their newly built defense held up pretty well in the last season, and the incorporation of Wilkins can only help. As always, the big question will be whether or not they can score enough to create a cushion for the defense, which will be tested often due to free-flowing style that the team plays. It seems weak to say they'll finish in ninth, but it's impossible to try to guess which Ming will show up.

Myana: The Youth Movement
Madison Bilboa has really done something right in the first five seasons of the Rainbow League System, winning the Red League in Season 1, signing Enrico Hanson-Conavacio, and getting the trio of Catheline Anastasiadis, Arley Barrios, and Maryanna Casavant to feed Enrico the ball. This combination has led to the Islanders never missing the IFCF, always being in title contention till late in the season, and playing at a high level.
In Season 6, things started to crumble apart. Myana needed Ming to lose to Alnio on the final Matchday and win against Brisara FC to make it to the IFCF at all. A disconnect between the Myana brass and Madison Bilboa began to form: Bilboa wanted to give her aging veterans another shot at playing together while the Myana Fishermen Collective wanted to start building for the future around Enrico and Zeta Rekan Marko Zup.
Ultimately, Madison Bilboa resigned, and the aging core of players that had made Myana who they were - Mordecai Brandtner, Arley Barrios, Catheline Anastasiadis, and Maryanna Casavant - were all let go. Now, the oldest human starter on the roster (Liadon doesn't count) is thirty, and the face of the squad are Zup and Enrico.
Let go after he couldn't satisfy the appetite of a football-crazed nation like Tumbra, Marco Hemmings has been brought in to spearhead this new youth movement. Signing Isolde Reader to play left wing absolutely helps, while stealing Snéachda from Chromatik is also a plus, as it allows MacDougall to continue to play her role as holding midfielder while having the Schottian/Chromatik dual national push the ball to Zup, Reader, and Holt with Hanson-Conavacio ahead of them.
As long as this squad has Enrico, they'll always be a threat for the title. Losing Bilboa and all that veteran leadership isn't great, but they absolutely have pieces to play around. Marko Zup's years on the bench have come to fruition, as the youngster is ready to start and make a bigger impact.
Monika Strausbourg will continue to provide leadership from the Left Back position, while youngster Jens Clemence joins Liadon, Baugh, and Strasbourg in helping keep Katerina Olexander clean. Olexander's first season started off rough but the Nepharan was able to have a much stronger second half, yielding 53 goals through her first season with the Red League.
This is going to be the hardest season that Myana has had to deal with in recent memory. There are plenty of new players to fit into the system, and the amount of experience lost can't be overstated. It'll be a challenge for Hemmings to see if he can corral them to the IFCF.

Omnio: Reshuffling the Deck
Omnio has been a feel-good story in the Rainbow League System, from how they went from the Orange League to the Red League in five seasons to how they've survived multiple seasons in the Red League. The Techies are the best example of a team that's consistently punching above their weight, and an epitome of the rags to riches mindset.
Omnio slid a single place last season, but scored eighteen less goals than the season prior. Nigel Erskine did most of the damage for the squad, while Zander Young and Jet McBride were also standout players in their quest to not be relegated. They were successful, never being truly in danger of relegation, but it became clear that Mauricio Oswalt wanted more from the club.
In a controversial decision, Beshira Technologies decided to terminate Oswalt's contract, stating that "We do not have the resources to get this team to the level that he (Mauricio) wants, and we feel like we will only be weighing him down if he were to stay here and not be allowed to have the room to explore other opportunities." Basically, Omnio was saying that they were perfectly happy being a mid-table club that tries to not be relegated, and that Oswalt was aiming too high for what the club could accomplish on a perennial basis.
In Steve Nicholls, they've found a Manager who is perfectly okay with keeping Omnio at the level that they are at and challenging them to continue to survive in the Red League. The change in formation from a 4-3-3 to a 4-2-3-1 did lead to a change in personnel, with Captain Jim Manse leaving for Alnio; the team was lucky enough to get Bradley McAllister from Felswyr and an intriguing prospect in Anna Henling from Sylestone.
Declan Turner-Cont replaces Jericho Ishon at goalkeeper, having caught many football fans' eyes by his heroics with University of the Islands, while the aforementioned Henling will have the opportunity to play her position in whichever style that she sees fit. A midfielder who can play both central, defensive, and left, Henling can drop back with McAllister, play ahead of him, or join the attack from the left side as needed.
Especially with the change to a 4-2-3-1, the Techies' attack will begin and end with Nigel Erskine, whose accolades with the club have resulted in a callup to Tumbra's national team as of late. He'll have help from the duo of Coghlan and Eckerthorp, both wingers who don't mind having the striker be the one to bury the ball in the back of the net. With an unchanged defensive core and a young player trying to prove himself in goal, Omnio hopes that this will secure yet another season as the most unlikeliest of clubs to survive in the Red League.

Sanar: The Return of the Rainbow Derby
When talking about derbies in the Red League, some come to mind immediately: The Chromia Derby between Anomalies and Chromatik, the Minor Chromia Derby between Chromatik and Crossroads, the Urrhed Derby between Tihon and Urrheddiao, the so-called “Title Clash” between Myana and Anomalies, and the like.
One of the most bitter ones in Rainbow League history is the Deprí Derby. Named as such because it had Deprí Lanar going against Deprí Sanar, the two cities may be called brothers, but they absolutely despise each other. In the days of the Chromatik Party, Deprí Lanar and Deprí Sanar were both work camps where the Chromatik Party sent dissenters to be forced to work their time off. This made the two cities always compete against each other to get preferential treatment, leading to the animosity.
Now, after the Rainbow Revolution, that ill will is starting to go away, but remains out there on the pitch. Every season where Lanar is present without Sanar, Lanar will not let it go; the vice versa is also true, making their rivalry a spicy one to keep track.
Last season, George Hasada’s Yellow Jackets scored 63 goals and conceded 44; they barely lost the title to Knetyohai, but the Yellow Jackets are back. Innox Xarillon did all right by scoring twenty-one while the Attacking Midfielders also had double digits in goals scored. Lew Karlov had his second-best season for the Yellow Jackets as the young Savojar has really started to come into form.
Despite losing Xarillon, the Yellow Jackets have gained Brown Uleaven of Ko-oren; Xochitl Tetreault is a welcome addition on the bench. Stela Dzunovski is their engine that makes things go on the offensive side of the ball, the Squornshelan having stuck to the squad despite their recent troubles.
This squad isn’t here to win games, they’re here to make life hell for one squad and not embarrass themselves if they can help it. As long as Hasada’s team can trip up Lanar, their fans will be happy. They will be the underdog in both their matchups against Lanar, but in rivalry games, you just never know.

Tihon: Consistency, Consistency.
Long gone are the days of absolute dominance by Tihon in the era of the Chromatik League; in the recent years, Tihon have become the reliable contender to give whomever is going for the title all that they can handle. Never finishing out of fifth place, they haven’t won a title in the Red League, but they’ve always been around.
Last season, it was the same story. Though Wirr Tsi won the title by ten points, Tihon were the only ones to ever give them a scare. Ramola Carolan won the Silver Glove with 36 goals conceded, Joel Haodao led the team with sixteen goals scored, and the central midfield of Nick Mariner and Rory McNair did their job in dictating pace.
There has been some talk among Tihon fans that second place is simply not enough; however, the Port of Tihon have stressed patience, awareness, and most of all, consistent excellence. They spent 22M NSD this offseason, getting Curtis Tremblay (the first Darmeni in Red League history) to replace a departing Raul Vitan and Roanna Murin to take the place of an aging Harriet Corver.
Tihon’s gameplan remains as consistently simple as ever: play solid defense, turn the ball toward a very capable midfield (who are all thirty and over, by the way), with Tacey and Hama being capable enough to pepper in goals from range. However, it all goes to the Striking duo - the Captain Haodao and the newcomer Murin. It's the same formation that Charing has used for a long time, and Tihon know how to play it well.
With the amount of money starting to be spent by Chromatik and Lhor, Tihon’s spot is starting to be in jeopardy. Wirr Tsi will ever be the title favorite given the amount of youth and momentum they have, while Chromatik remain as hungry as ever. Given history, though, it would be a fool’s errand to count out Tihon.
Will continued IFCF berths be enough for this squad? What will the public think of them? Complacency can be viewed as poison, but consistency through such a long period of time can only be viewed as strength. When they remain as consistent, perhaps they'll end up winning that elusive title in the Rainbow League System someday.
Until then, Tihon will continue to do what they do - play solid football, bloody some noses, and remain relevant.

Tor: Up Against the Wall
It wasn’t too long ago that Tor was the laughingstock of Chromatik football. Back when there were only two divisions in the League Chromatiks, they were always near the bottom; they then fell off the map altogether until the Third Division started being reported in the Chromatik League, placing second in the Island Division to make it to the Orange League when the Rainbow League System started.
Recent success has seen them survive for three years in the Red League, a remarkable feat given their market and size; they extended that by virtue of winning the Promotion/Relegation Playoff against Z’ai’ai, with Katrina Rothers, Jimmy McCarthy, Marion Clercin, and Gabrielle Dick being the key players.
Katrina Rothers, sister to Alnio’s Katie Rothers, scored eleven goals from the Left Midfielder position, providing a tertiary scoring threat to McCarthy and Clercin; McCarthy continued his excellent stint as the main Striker for the Teal.
As the team continues to try to survive in the Red League, they strategically spent 4.5M NSD this past window, upgrading at Right Midfielder, Center Back, and Right Back. Abigail Jones will hope to provide yet another layer to the Tor attack while Amadou Duret and Édouard Calvet join Thomas Kirk and Vincenzo Wilkins in the quest to keep Gabrielle as clean as possible.
Captain and talisman Indira Haxon continues to chug along, being responsible for both assisting the defense and pushing the ball up to the front two. Tor wants to be a Tihon but lacks the quality of personnel to do what the Tide does - which won’t stop them from trying, to be fair.
With the quality of rosters continuing to increase around the league, Tor’s days may be coming short in the Red League. Lynn Branch is one of the better player-by-player Managers in the league, and may just be able to squeeze out enough to survive.
For that to occur, Rothers will need to repeat the master season while Jones chips in with five or six goals. McCarthy will need to be in double digits, and Clercin will need to do what she does, being there for the secondary strike. Though Gabrielle Dick has gotten better in recent years, to think that this defense can keep out too many goals would be asking for too much.
Tor will be in it till the end. Whether or not they'll actually survive another year is another thing altogether. At least it'll be entertaining, and they've lasted way longer than anybody gave them credit for. The field awaits.

Urrheddiao: A Change of the Guard
Urrheddiao has always been a hard out in the Red League, playing extremely suffocating defense behind the leadership of Erika Morningstar and having one of the best keepers in the league in Kimi Herrington. Despite not being anywhere near the title chase in the last few seasons, they’ve been always around and playing hard.
Erika Morningstar has never been a successful Manager. She manages as hard as anyone, but either there’s a disconnect between the players or Urrheddiao just haven’t had the players to get the work done.
Last season, Herrington only conceded forty-two goals, good for third in Golden Glove competition, but the team could only muster up twenty-six goals even with the signing of Renira Schanzer. United struggled through the entire league, needing a win over Umbar on the final matchday to stay clear of relegation and continue their tradition.
With results falling - they went from fifth to seventh to thirteenth in the last three seasons - Urrheddiao brass made the right call: letting Erika Morningstar go. It wasn’t the easiest decision, as her presence on the sidelines has been synonymous with United football for the better part of a decade, but it’s the right decision if this squad is to start sniffing around the IFCF berths again.
Ruo Xiaolan keeps the club’s proclivity of hiring female managers. She’s unproven, but she has a good head on her shoulders and a very new way of looking at things. The change to a 4-2-3-1 meant replacing of many of the team’s established players, and the incoming of plenty of others. Chief among them are Falko Schatz from Siovanija and Teusland and Thomás “Primitivo” Ceballos Cantú from Montaña Verde.
Schatz is a workhorse who is great at tracking back, which fits Urrheddiao’s strengths; he will still play the ball up to Schanzer. Cantú, or “Primitivo”, as he likes to be known, is the best young Verdean player of his generation that will take all the set pieces for the team going forward.
This team’s identity will always remain their strong defense. Herrington is only thirty-two in goal, while the back four of Hardy, Wiseman, Stubbs, and Jiawei all return, with Hardy having played the initial first season now. Angogh has learned how to play for this club, while Vaugrenard’s gaining of resident status has helped the club. Schatz and Primitivo will play alongside Pontbriand, who came over from Knetyohai; Schanzer is the lone striker.
Think of this Urrheddiao club as a modified version of Myana that prefers to be a bit more defensive; it will be an interesting matchup when those two clubs clash. Five clubs in the Red League use the 4-2-3-1, but Urrheddiao should be the one to concede the least number of goals.
With all the changes, there is some excitement about where this version of Urrheddiao can do. First things first, though, is surviving another season in the Red League. They should be able to without much trouble.

Wirr Tsi: Long May They Reign
Wirr Tsi has been on the path of constant improvement since they finish twelfth in the league in Season 2. After getting Zhaxi Nanlei, the even-keeled, unflappable Yue Manager, the Shock have been on one quest: to become relevant.
For the longest time, funding remained one of their biggest problems. Being tied to the Chromatik Air Force was good, but as Chromatik armed forces aren’t allowed to spend too much money into sporting clubs, they were capped on funds. That was when Calania Motors of Quebec stepped in.
Spending 17.5M NSD last window, the Shock were one of the favorites coming in. Wirr Tsi lost four games in the first ten and conceded ten goals, but everybody stayed their course. It was taking time for their new players to learn how to play with each other. Those ten goals would end up being half of what Kathie Begley gave up all year. Going 7-1-2 in the middle ten and 7-2-1 in the final ten, the Shock won the title by ten points, clinching it well before the last Matchday and winning their first title in the process.
Kendra Carpenter proved to be worth every dollar that they paid as the Brenecian Winger won almost every award (New Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Foreigner of the Year, Player of the Year, and All-Pro Team First Team) while scoring seventeen goals. Sara Kristoffersdóttir spread the ball around well while Carlo Callejon helped the back four keep Kathie Begley to yet another Golden Glove.
Even before the parade’s luster had faded, Nanlei and Calania Motors had plans for the season to come. Instead of looking at foreign players, Wirr Tsi looked at the quality of Chromatik talent abroad that was starting to age. In gaining all of Jarret Rowles, Kaytlyn Victoriane, and Xi Xe, they have gained players who have not only played at a high level at the club level but also started for the Chromatik National Team. Kaytlyn Victoriane is a former Galaticos Player of the Year and will be counted on for impact minutes off the bench while Jarret Rowles’s presence as the senior member of the backfield will be that of a voice of reason.
To go alongside the increase of quality on the bench, the Shock used their status as new champions to poach two players from their competition in the Red League: Leysa Burns from Chromatik and Rila Enix from Lhor. Burns is one of the best Defensive Midfielders in the League, and will help Sara go even further up the field; Enix will take the spot vacated by the brief stint of Sylvie Reynolds, having proven her chops with Lhor the previous season.
Add in the only addition from outside the country - Artem Kohut of Busoga/Delaclava - and you’ve a team that is very young and very hungry. There are eight players on the Starting XI that are twenty-six or less. Only one player is thirty years old. The amount of young talent is staggering.
So, who is Artem Kohut and why did he replace Kyle Falcon? Kohut is flashy, he is young, and he knows how to handle pressure in big matches. He won’t need to do too much with the presence of Carpenter and Enix - just be around the ball and hammer it in when the opportunity presents itself.
After winning the title, they’ve only made their team better. They should be heavy favorites to be the fourth team to win back-to-back titles. It’s their time to shine.

# Team P W D L GF GA GD Pts ACM CMR LHR COAWirr Tsi continue to do well in group stages, only dropping two matches; Lhor's 2-2-2 would normally be good if it wasn't for Coastal United being an absolute flop. Wirr Tsi will proceed to the next stage.

Red League Pld W D L GF GA GD PtsAt the halfway point, things are looking more normal. Wirr Tsi has set the record for most points scored in the first fifteen games, while Myana are still in second. Tihon's climb though the league has been memorable, and they're in third place; Felswyr, Chromatik, and Ming are slightly behind. Felswyr will have their work cut out for them to keep up the work, while Chromatik and Ming are more likely to have a good second half. Tor's defense has been their carrying point, while Crossroads has some work to do; Knetyohai are doing well in ninth, Urrheddiao are safe, and Lanar, Alnio, and Lhor are next up - Lhor being a bit stymied at 4-4-7 for now. Anomalies have a lot of work to do, but they've done it in the past; Sanar and Omnio are at the bottom - Sanar being recently promoted while Omnio are having struggles under the new Manager.

Red League Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts FormWirr Tsi have a fourteen point lead with ten games to go despite dropping two of the last five - they'll be fine. Myana and Chromatik continue to fight for that second spot, with Myana only being one point ahead. Tihon did lose their streak but remain in contention, while Felswyr is starting to lose steam.

Red League Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts Form +/-Wirr Tsi wins the title. That's enough said. Myana and Chromatik are the two sides going for the IFCL berth, with Tihon, Crossroads, and Anomalies vying for the fourth and fifth place slots; Felswyr and Tor have been in the running for so long but stand just outside; Lanar are not in the same position as last season while Ming have fallen on hard times as of late. Urrheddiao have had so many of their matches end in draws, but they're pretty clear of the relegation zone; Lhor are hoping they'll have a shot, while Knetyohai are happy to be where they are. Omnio, Sanar, and Alnio are fighting for that Promotion/Relegation Playoff spot.

Anomalies: The Start Matters
By: Joseph Golden, AFC Fight Club
Can you believe that we had a three-peat not four years ago? That seems so long ago, with Crossroads winning Season Five out of the blue and then Wirr Tsi having the run of things in the last two seasons. What have AFC been doing? Well, I’m glad you asked.
Valladar Manager Ronald Labbadia has a problem, and it’s the first fifteen games of the season. In the last two seasons, AFC have the best record in the second half of anyone in the Red League, except maybe Wirr Tsi. What is the issue then? The dismal starts. Being at 2-3-7 or 5-5-5 after fifteen games will never get you anywhere near title contention.
Anomalies brass seem to have gotten the idea. They double down on the offensive end, getting Göran Jaerbyn from Savojarna and Nigel Erskine, the Tumbran star from Omnio. Iskender Nur has the capability of shoring up any holes in the defense, and the crew of Lina Watt, Mickie Antonucci, Diocletian Vale, and Damir Milcic are figuring out how to play with each other for only the second season in a row.
Everyone knows that the four contenders are Wirr Tsi, Myana, Chromatik, and Lhor. It leaves Crossroads, Tihon, and AFC to go for that fifth spot. So, the question remains, what sets my team ahead of the other two?
I’d argue that AFC do the best in having people commit to their roles. Lorena Strausz is the point-person when it comes to getting the ball to the front two, the side midfielders do all the streaking down the sideline, and Nicolás Allauca is the coordinator that keeps everything going.
Oh, it’ll be a dogfight to the end, but if you don’t think that AFC will have a say in who finishes fifth, you’ve another thing coming.

Brisara FC: To Survive Against All Odds
By: Matthias Hafsten, Hammer Time
When the Hammers got relegated after Season Six, there was a sense of foreboding in the air. Our longtime Manager, Pedro Mendedez-Sutra d’Ame, left shortly after to take over the national job for Lathamford (He’s been doing pretty well, I’d daresay). Albertow Nowak left, Maricela Throop was thinking of leaving, and we, the Hammers’ fans, were wondering just how long it’d take to get back to the Red League.
In came Xander Augustine, fresh off of a disappointing season at GT Molding in Græntfjall. Augustine is a player’s Manager, knowing how to get every ounce from every player. He helped this team to a second place finish in the Orange League, winning on the final matchday and winning on goal differential against Urrhed FC and Z’ai’ai. It was a surprise promotion to the Red League, perhaps a year ahead of schedule; it brings its own share of challenges.
In acquiring four players who are hungry and young, Augustine shows that he has a pulse on what they need. Kettil Akkeren is a superb athlete who needs some work developing his footballing skills, while Jayne Bristow is someone who can comfortably weave past multiple defenders. With the veteran leadership of Salvatore Buckley, BFC will be able to score from every angle.
On the defensive side of things, Thaddeus Grant will have two new young teammates to work with - Chloe Koppenol, who did well in the previous Olympics, and Jenna Fusco, an unproven commodity with a lot to prove. Xarles Zarragoitia is a veteran keeper who’s been around the block a few times, so there is some veteran leadership, at least.
For the Hammers to survive, Warner and Rowena will have to direct traffic and allow Lefebvre and Ma to assist Buckley, Akkeren, and Bristow. There will be moments that this team concedes goals, but there’s enough character to claw back.
Don’t get me wrong - we know it’ll be a challenge. However, there’s a chance that we’re ready.

Chromatik: The Promised Land?
By: Isabelle Croix, The Dancing Capitalizt
Being a Chromatik fan is to be used to torture. It was fine to watch Myana and Tihon win, and then we had to see our bitter rivals, Anomalies, win three titles in a row. Then, Crossroads - Crossroads! Won a title before we did. The last two seasons, Wirr Tsi has come to the forefront.
For so many years, we’ve been the biggest club in Chromia. For so many years, we’ve been asked the question of why we haven’t won. Some of that has to do with the personnel, some of it has to do with the mentality.
Truth is that a lot of the allegations are true. Chromatik keep dropping points that they have no business dropping. We lack consistency and often times have two phases of our game down but not a third. However, we’ve been staying the course. Jannick Kontiola will be the guy to lead us to the Promised Land, and he asked for patience.
Since Anomalies’s threepeat, we’ve been ahead of them in the standings for the last three seasons. After Crossroads’s miracle finish, we’ve been the best club in the capital for the last two seasons. Last season, we were one of three clubs to defeat Wirr Tsi.
By getting Trudy Harrison, Stephen Kerr, Cixin Nguyen, and Cande Montalban, Kontiola has truly turned this team over to the youth. Just ask Wirr Tsi and Myana - the youth movement is the future of the Red League, and we’ve only added to it by getting Lili Marinka.
Worried about loss of veteran leadership? Don’t you worry - Tania Vincent has had so many great years at Felswyr and Drarinka Schlok will take over the Mario Kogler spot of leading from the point.
I understand all the hype behind Wirr Tsi getting Linde Rostock and Lhor getting Valrauncion, but we’ve been waiting for a long time for this, and the window is finally here for the Capitalizt to take their place amongst the Red League’s Champions.
Let’s go get the job done.

Crossroads: The Miracle
By: Myung Hyo-Shik, Crusaders’s March
Being the third team of a city sucks. We’re not the rich guys nor the cool guys that take down the rich guys. We’re the guys who are in the shadows, biding our time and striking whenever we have a chance. Three seasons ago, we had that chance; we made the most of it by winning that first title even before the rich guys of the Capitalizt.
Since then, it’s been an all-out war to just make it to the IFCF, and the last season was no exception. The Crusaders needed to match Tihon’s Goals Differential to the exact goal on the final matchday to force a playoff for the IFCF berth. Thankfully, Justiina really came to play, and the 5-2 victory over Myana on the final matchday will go down in club history as one of the most climactic wins ever.
Then came the IFCF decider, and Justiina took care of that match, too - scoring her second dhat trick in as many games including the game winner in extra time to relegate Tihon to sixth place and lift Crossroads to the IFCF ranks.
As Lhor continues to spend their money and Tihon retools for another push, we upgraded at Center Back and Defensive Midfield while doubling down on Tommy Waluigi as our starting keeper. Sure, Justiina may be getting reduced minutes for Græntfjall, but she’s still a top striker in the league who isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
It might be a reach, but if Justiina can keep her form going and Tommy and the defense can keep us in games, we can do it.

Felswyr: The Prospector
By: Saya Homurashi, The PermaFrost
Want to know how to survive in the Red League without spending too much money? Look at how our brass handles building our team. Despite being one of the smallest cities to have a team in the Red League, we’ve never missed a season and outperformed the bigger cities of Umbar and Z’ai’ai in our District.
The biggest issue has been the lack of funds. Whenever anyone gets good, they get poached by the bigger clubs with more money - look at how Tania Vincent left for Chromatik. As Felswyrites and Frosties we are scared to death of Tasha Kamarandan and Ayosha Meledina getting poached in the near future, too.
How do we battle that constant turnover? You find capable replacements. Nicole Watson has been the class of the Orange League for the last few seasons, and Katie Rothers was a consistent playmaking threat for now-relegated Alnio. Add in Andrew Tarpey, who may not be the right one to replace the leader that was Glory Bellringer but may be good enough of a player to fit the role.
Yes - Vissenta Okamoto and Renate Haggard aren’t the flashiest of strikers, and the team will continue to rely on midfielders scoring from range. However, the defensive identity that is engrained in the team isn’t going anywhere, which will keep them in games; we just need to win enough to continue to be the masters of our District behind Ming.
Oh wait - Ming and Felswyr are the only teams from our District. Take that, Z’ai’ai!

Hanai Breakers: The Vendetta
By: Xinyi Chiang, Surfing the Waves
The scene: Season 2, six years ago. A Crossroads Crusaders team, faltering late, finished in eighth place. Knowing that the writing was on the wall, James Masterson decides to go to his hometown Hanai Breakers, vowing that he would return and make the Crusaders regret letting him go one day - he thought that the brass didn’t do enough to give him a fair chance to contend with the players available.
When he showed up, James Masterson found our Breakers a side with an identity - an abnormal obsession for not conceding goals - but no vision. He grilled the players to submission, instilling in them the steel to face opposition and bend them to our will. Under his guidance, Jeremiah Allison became a monstrous goalkeeper. He hasn’t conceded more than twenty-two goals in thirty games in the last five seasons, notably only conceding thirteen three years ago. We won the Yellow League handedly and made our way up the Orange League in a hurry.
Then, we ran into a roadblock. For two seasons, we finished in fourth place, not being able to score enough goals to proceed. Allison was still great and Masterson’s vision for a wall that barely relented during games was being realized, but we needed a spark.
That spark came in the form of one Lilly Taylor from The Licentian Isles. With her leadership in front of the goal, the team won the Orange League Title by nine points and triumphantly made it to the Red League.
Who are we? We’re the people who will be perfectly fine with a 0-0 draw, with having fifteen fouls called during a game and five yellow cards. We are the master of being rough but not being harsh, of hard-nosed, tackling football that makes people think twice before trying to cross into our half. Our counterattacks come from nowhere, and the forwards who know that when they have a chance, they better take it.
The Red League hasn’t seen anything like us yet, and when we face Crossroads - and we will at least twice this season - expect tempers to flare and blood to fly as James Masterson tries to take the team he’s elevated to defeat the team that let him go.
I, for one, cannot wait.

Knetyohai: The Next Step
By: Gerry Gold, Warriors’ Weekly
How in the world did we survive?
In a season of chaos, the Warrriors were never in real danger of relegation, being five points ahead of Omnio and almost catching Urrheddiao and even Felswyr and Lanar by the seasons’ end. The Warriors’ Arena became the place to be during home matches as the hometown fans found newfound pride in their team managing to stick around when the deck was stacked against them.
Then, the inevitable followed. Kiana Woo is way too good to stay in Knetyohai, and money called her to Tihon. Good for her - I hope she never forgets who carried her to that pedestal. We got Hu Jiewen from Z’ai’ai, though - apparently tired of the underwhelming results of the Mountaineers.
Then, a surprise boon! Tiana Revels from Wirr Tsi? Seriously? Thank you much, Shock! Revels brings a level of veteran experience as well as success mentality to the club that hasn’t been there in, well, ever. Her leadership will be counted upon as the team tries to figure out what the next step is.
Honestly, we Warriors fans aren’t sure what to expect. Should we be content surviving every season and aim to become another Urrheddiao? Or should we aim to be like Tor and Lanar, sniffing around the top half of the table? According to Addie Xavier, it’s too early to tell, and we should wait to see just how the “flames of competition reveal what kind of metal we are meant to be”. Have I mentioned that our Manager is an acclaimed novelist?
For now, he remains trying to write a good story with the pieces in front of him. There are some personalities on this squad - Kristjana and Marie do enough to make sure that every game is interesting, while Sherazi and Dembélé are up for any challenge.
It’ll all come down to Zubai Ignon, the 29-year-old keeper who’s been with the team since Season Seven. Fifty-five goals conceded may seem like a lot, but given how many the teams below Knetyohai gave up last season, that was a perfectly fine amount given where the Warriors are at. If he can reduce that with the help of the defense to the high forties? Who knows?
Don’t have high expectations, but don’t be dejected, Warriors fans. This season will decide the trajectory for the next few, which makes it the most exciting season of Warriors football in a long time.
Let us see what happens.

Lanar: The Ticking Clock
By: Lee Han-Bo, Red Hawk rising
Unexpected success can often lead to troubles of its own - namely that of greed. When the Red Hawks made it back to the Red League two seasons ago, they weren’t expecting to do much before going back down. Then, they surprised themselves and the league by finishing in ninth, followed by the recent tenth place finish.
The fact that they are managing to survive without too much trouble has brought its own brand of curse to Lanar - expectations. Now, fans want to try to crest the top half of the table. Now, fans aren’t just happy with being leagues ahead of our biggest rivals in Sanar. We have players like Kambiz Ortan and Davoika Sevcik - why not us?
Compounded with all that is the fact that the clock is ticking for Lanar when it comes to some of their best players. Young stars like Kambiz Ortan, Isak Liverstam, and the newly signed Layla-Mae Potts don’t like being stuck at a club that has a ceiling. Even those who are on the fringe of their national teams like Neal Diamond will look for greener shores if the team becomes stagnant. The Red Hawks’s brass, alongside Yeremi Belaustigetigoitia, must continue to chart this team’s course to be higher and better than it was before.
Thankfully, by getting players like Gerome Meyer to shore things up at the back end, Kieron Player to be the dedicated holding midfielder, and Jacqueline Holt and Layla-Mae Potts to help with the attack, the Management has shown that they are aware of the situation and doing what they can to facilitate the growth. It remains to be seen if the rate of growth will be fast enough given the strength of the top half of the Red League now, but at least they’ve planted the seeds.
Now, it’s time to pray for rain.

Lhor: Can Money Buy a Title?
By: Alexandra Bollick, OrcaWatch
One thing that you won’t understand unless you’re from Lhor is that we’re built different. Right by the coast of the crystal blue ocean, living with the view of whales every summer… Lhor is a special place, a beautiful place.
The same way, we look at our football team as somewhat of an experiment. We aren’t the biggest of cities, so the Orcas aren’t the biggest of clubs. We were happy to just be in the top half of the table, to be honest, and then… Adama Sowe happened.
Having one of the richest people in the world own your club is wild. In two seasons, he’s rebuilt the Starting XI from scratch, only keeping the proven commodities like Jess Seselja. Last season, he got Gaareh Kama. Then, not discouraged a single bit after somewhat of a disastrous season, we bid for…
Valrauncion. For $115 Million. No Chromatik has even heard of such money, let alone for one player! $115 Million NSD would buy the three lower tiers of the Rainbow League System and still have money left over! How in the world can Sowe afford such a fee? Exactly what kind of ramifications will that purchase have on the league going forward as teams start looking at salary caps and whatnot?
In the meantime, Titor Hlinka has a massive job to do - manage the expectations that have come with such a big-name buy, smooth things over in the locker room to make sure that everyone will play nice together, and try to get the team to be a cohesive unit to challenge the likes of Chromatik, Myana, and oh yes, Wirr Tsi.
It may be too much to ask for in one season, but we are no longer okay with missing out on the spotlight. A top five finish is a must. Anything else? We’ll see it when we get there.
We just need to get there.

Ming: The Fun Continues
By: Xera Mason, Dynasty Calling
What’s it like to be a Ming fan? Well, let me tell you a bit about my city. Ming is a city of affluence and of charity, one of people who have money but know how to spend it in the right places. We value those who ply their craft well while keeping an eye on the bigger picture. We think that the best thing to do in life is to enjoy the spoils of one’s work and look good while doing it.
Olaf Jurtanen has built this squad to truly reflect that mentality. They score often and from multiple sources - we’ve had four scorers in double digits for the last few seasons. We are always near the top of the leaderboard in goals scored. Unfortunately, we’re also near the top of the board in goals allowed, but we’ve been working on that.
Sure, we lost some great players. Vorster, Dostoevich, Potts. They’ll be missed. However, I think that we’re ready for this eventuality. Jurtanen’s system works when it comes to scoring goals, and we aren’t going to stop doing that.
We’ll need someone to step up as the point person if we are to take a new step, though. And honestly, I’m not sure who that will be.
I guess we’ll all find out. Will it be Hannah Van Vilet? Immacolata Di Maggio? Someone not from the midfield at all?
Welcome to the chaos that is Ming.

Myana: The Hamster’s Wheel
Jung Mi-Han, BoomGoesTheCannon
There was supposed to be a recovery period as Marco Hemmings took over the squad. There were three new starters, Olexander was still learning how the system worked, and it was Zup's’first season as a starter.
What followed was a season in which Enrico Hanson-Conavacio scored twenty-two goals, Markup Zup fifteen, and Isolde Reader twelve. Katerina Olexander did concede forty-nine, but Myana was in it till the end, falling just short by two points due to Crossroads’s late surge. The fact that Justiina Dannysdóttir scored three goals to lead the squad to a 5-2 victory over the Islanders remains the bane of the season.
Apparently, we were fine? This offseason, the Management has gotten two players from within the league - one Moira Ansov from the promoted Hanai Breakers and Nadya Dostoevich from Ming. White Baugh was getting a bit old in the center of the midfield, and Ansov is a joy to watch; the addition of Nadya Dostoevich brings the eternal Yesopalithan vampire as another playmaker alongside Zup.
It’s like being on a hamster wheel of being good enough to contend but not win a title in so many years. We don’t mind too much, but to think that the Shock and now the Capitalizt are the new kids in the block after the Anomalies and the Crusaders does make us wonder when it will be our turn again.
But hey - it’s fun to watch Myana football every year and hear the sound of the cannon. Nothing will take that away.

Omnio: The Aftermath
By: Pietr Gansovich, Tech Corner
There was a story, told from the League Chromatiks days, of a player named Carrie Mason, a Nepharan Striker who helped her team, Pùr, survive when they had no right to. Then, Mason helped Pùr win the only title that the squad has ever had. The idea of a one-star club that helps the team either win the title or stay in the Red League is harder said than done.
We knew coming into last season that it would be difficult. Mauricio Oswalt had been replaced by the Tumbran Steve Nicholls with the big picture in mind, as Omnio is more of a small club. Nigel Erskine would have to pull a hero’s effort; it would be easier said than done.
What followed was a magical season. Not magical in terms of points or success, but in one player - Nigel Erskine, who scored twenty-four goals, over half of the fifty goals scored by the team. He was pure magic in scoring whenever he had the chance and utterly dominated play in stretches, helping the team score a total of eleven draws.
Now… He’s gone, and so is Jet McBride. It makes sense - this is a team that will go down. I’m really hoping that we will do enough to be respectful, but there is no way we’re getting better than fourteenth.
Let’s just make it a good enough show.

Tihon: The Heartbreak
By: Erica Fernandez, Call of the Wave
Let me spell out the situation that we had before Matchday 30. We had a three point lead on Crossroads as well as a lead in Goal Differential by 5. We play Urrheddiao on the road, and Crossroads hos to host Myana. Do you know what the percentage o Crossroads catching up was? Way less than a half percent.
What happened next was history. Urrheddiao bottled us up and won, 3-1, Schanzer scoring a hat trick, while we could only get a goal from Mariner. Crossroads? Somehow beat Myana 5-2, Justiina Dannysdóttir scoring a hat trick herself. The result? 45 points. 45 points. +10 Goal Differential. +10 Goal Differential.
The Chromatik Football Federation and the Red League decided that a one-game playoff should be played instead of handing the spot to the most goals scored (Tihon) or the least goals allowed (Crossroads). It seemed fair enough.
We couldn’t stop Crossroads’s destiny. Dannysdóttir scored another hat trick, including the game winner in overtime, and we missed out on the IFCF by one goal at the end.
Hecate Charing and Christina Applegate are done hearing that Tihon’s days are done. The sweeping changes made are risky, I agree. However, Kiana Woo, Jiawei Chuan, Oscar Vincent, and Kurt Witzel? It’s a new step forward. Tatiana Ophélie and Christine Yaroslav are newbies, for certain, but they’ll grow and they’ll learn.
Even if we miss the IFCF for a few more cycles, this is the right thing to do. It’s time to grow, to change, to take a step forward. Hopefully, it won’t take too long.

Tor: Up Against the Wall
Carson Benmeyer, TealTime
We don’t know what to say about this recent run of form. We were never supposed to be one of the mainstays of the Red League; we were so happy to survive.
Now, Gabrielle Dick is gone. Lew Karlov is here now. He has been growing in Sanar - it’s time to give him a shot. Bonagiunta Rossi is an absolutely better version of Jimmy McCarthy. Wladoslaw Dorboslawić will help Willy Koop in the middle of the field.
It seems silly to hope for more, but another season in eighth place, and there may be room to start thinking about higher.
Nah, we shouldn’t kid ourselves. It’s nice to not have to worry about relegation. Let’s just stay realistic.
It’s good to be a Tor fan.

Urrheddiao: Maintaining Course
Raul Nett, UnitedAsOne:
We as Urrheddiao have been around for a long time now. First led by Erika Morningstar after her retirement, and now by Ruo Xiaolan, we love the fact that we may not have the most money nor the best players, but we continue to churn out above-average defenses that make it a nightmare for opposing teams to score goals.
Losing Jiawei Chuan to our rivals in Tihon was a gut punch, but we carry on. Jet McBride is a suitable replacement, and the duo of Primitivo and Schanzer is enough to carry the team forward when it comes to scoring.
What really bugged the fanbase, though, is the fact that they lost the Violet Cup to Pria City. One of the only things that we have a shot in winning is the Violet Cup; I hope that the team takes that cup more seriously going forward.
You know, United fans don’t really ask for much. All we want is to be recognized as one of the better teams in the league who keep churning out defensive prospects. We’ll be fine.

Wirr Tsi: Supreme Dominance
Marx Mear, The Shock Factor
Did that just happen? 27-0-3. Eleven goals conceded. Twenty-one clean sheets in thirty games (that is not a typo). The way that this team gelled together and played for each other was a true joy to watch. We set the new record for most points scored, least goals allowed, and most clean sheets scored.
Then, we were able to get... Linde Rostock? Really? 42 caps for the Nepharan Senior Team? That's Wirr Tsi getting recognized!
From top to bottom, Kathie Begley was the best goalkeeper in the league while Linde Rostock and Ipati Aimée join the established Carlo Callejon and Viktor Rew. Leysa Burns, Sara Kristoffersdóttir, and Wan Sheping make up the best midfielder trio in the league, while Kendra Carpenter and Rila Enix help out Kohut in the scoring department.
We Shock fans know that to have a season like the one we just had repeat would be like trying to catch lightning in a bottle. However, there is no way this squad won't be in the running for the title - and it would be amazing to become the fourth team to threepeat.
The Shock Factor is real.

CL Second Preliminary RoundRemember when Chromatik teams used to struggle to make it to the IFCF Group Stage? That’s no longer a problem, as both Wirr Tsi and Chromatik have made it to the Group Stage. Chromatik’s run deserves more credit, as the Capitalizt had to win three ties against significant opposition, never faltering a single bit and utterly destroying Rülândéá Kôstä in the final matchup. Lili Marinca showed up big for the Capitalizt, scoring three goals in this stretch and assisting on four others as her partnership with Cande Montalban seems to be going well enough.
