LHOR
Fans: Lhorites, Orca-Watchers
Location: Lhor, Coastal District, Chromatika
Stadium: The Cove (51,265; 28,000 Seats)
Manager: Margerie Pax, 41
Captain: Sherlyn Joy
Predicted Starting XI: (4-2-3-1) - Joy; Newsom - Baillairge - Auvray - Seselja; Gillette - Haxon; Montalbo - /Jideofor - Pikolaugh; Feltzer.
In: LB Jess Seselja (Aries Solitaire, 2M), ST Bray Feltzer (Ropeland United, 3M), CM Enyinnaya Jideofor (Igulu City FC, 5M), GK Sherlyn Joy (Chromatik, 1M), RB Tonia Newsom (Pùr, 1M), DM Prividenvia Gillette (Qet, 1M)
Drafted: LAM/LW Fangti Pikolaugh (Z’ai’ai Institute of Technology), RB Jacob Ballairge (Deprí Lanar University), CB Sonak Auvray (Eyrods Tech), LAM/LW Mélodie Spanghero (University of Myana)
Background: Located in the northeast corner of Chromatika, right by the ocean, Lhor was historically a whaling town, and now a place that is famous for its whalewatching tours. Otherwise, Lhor is famous for being the fashion Capital of Chromatika - although most of the modeling still happens in Chromatik City. A lot of young people live in Lhor because it's a small yet fashionable town. With Lhor's recent success, their fanbase has started to grow, and with Pria's team struggling, Lhor has become the premier team of the Coastal District.
Offseason: As a smaller team built on punching above their weight, Lhor’s offseason was rather grand for their size. Jess Seselja was a standout at Aries Solitaire, now brought to Lhor to help anchor the back four - while also moonlighting as occasional scorer. Enyinnaya Jideofor is a star in the making and probably the biggest star power to ever play at Lhor after one Elizabeth Addison. It’ll be interesting to see if Lhor is big enough for him, but he will have plenty of opportunities to shine. There isn’t much known about Bray Feltzer, but… He’ll have ample time to score, too, given Lhor’s formation. Domestically, getting Sherlyn Joy in her twilight years, getting Tonia Newsom, who was Pùr’s best spot last season, and getting Prividenvia Gillette (say that a few times fast) from Qet counts as a major upgrade to the team. Add a few drafted players - Jacob Baillairge is a avid learner and Fangti Pikolaugh has a flair - and this squad should be fun.
Strategy: A 4-2-3-1 is the same formation that the Chromatik Anomalies national team uses. Indira Haxon and Prividenvia Gillette will be the key players as the two allow the four ahead of them to play up front and be constant on the attack. Devora Montalbo, Enyinnaya Jideofor, and Fangti Pikolaugh have one job - keep the ball ahead of them and nearby Bray Feltzer. Sherlyn Joy provides a veteran presence at goal in case the team needs it.
Key Player: CM Enyinnaya Jideofor
An emotional player who is streaky, Jiedofor is looking for a new step in order to reach the Starting XI of the Banijan National Team. With Pikolaugh and Montalbo, he’ll have the option to either score or get the ball to Feltzer as often as he wishes. Will Lhor be the step that he needs to progress further? Or will he fall short? Rather interesting to think about.
Prediction: This team has the potential for greatness, but it needs to have time to jell together. Give it a few years, and they might contend for the title. That being said, they’ll provide some interesting matches this season. 8th.
MINERS FC
Fans: MFC, Coalhands
Location: Z’ai’ai, Mountain District, Chromatika
Stadium: Miner Field (7,205)
Manager: Farrione Larrianne, 260
Captain: Tessa Bayliss
Predicted Starting XI: (4-1-2-3) - Tardivel; Prime - Colak - Yawn - Bayliss; Almeida; Laure-Gaucher - Laporte; Kyung - Ingott - Tatham.
In: CB Kemal Colak (Arhavi Gencler, 1M), LB Tessa Bayliss (AFC Treason, 2M)
Out: ST Maricela Throop (Anomalies, 1.5M)
Drafted: ST Vance Ingott (Alnio University of the Arts)
Background: Z'ai'ai is located in the southeast corner of Chromatika, and seated by Mt. Kùrn, the highest point in Chromatika, with elevation of 17,254 ft. It is a rare place where you can experience the mountain and the ocean at the same time within an hour's drive. Pronounced "Zee-aye-aye", it is also the cuisine capital of Chromatika as well as the headquarters of the logging industry. Miners FC is a small team located in the eastern part of Z'ai'ai, owned by the Meteo Mining Company, Chromatika's leading producer of coal and other minerals. They use their small field as an advantage to limit the noise that opposing squads can make, and play a rough, physical kind of football.
Offseason: Losing Maricela Throop to Anomalies was a huge loss, but Miners made do. Kemal Colak is a bit of a prospect, but could grow with the team; Tessa Bayliss provides a veteran presence on the team after her stint after the years at Tihon. For a team that has just made it to the highest level of Chromatik football, it was a good offseason.
Strategy: This team uses the midfield triangle between Renée Almeida, Raymond Laure-Gaucher, and Cari Laporte to dictate the pace and Delinda Tatham and Vance Ingott to do the scoring, Jong Kyung moonlighting as well. Tardivel is a serviceable keeper, but with there being both youth and veterans along the back four, it’d serve Miners well to not let the defense get tested too much.
Key Player: LW Delinda Tatham
Now twenty-seven, Tatham has been around the block a few times, consistently being a flashy playmaker who can also score. With Vance Ingott fresh out of college and Jong Kyung being more than thirty, Tatham will have to carry.
Prediction: A solid, yet not spectacular, team that can really hurt teams that underestimate them. Miners look poised to make staying in the Red League a reality. 10th.
MYANA
Fans: Islanders, Myaners
Location: Myana, Myana Island, Chromatika
Stadium: Island Dome (133,000; 35,000 Seats)
Manager: Madelene Bilboa, 57
Captain: Jazmin Dragana
Predicted Starting XI: (4-2-3-1) - Petersen; Sayer - Hoglund - Emmanuelli - Strasbourg; Hector - Nicollier; Anastasiadis - Riske - Dragana; Gainsbourg.
In: RW Catheline Anastasiadis (Vermillion Rage, 4M), LB Monika Strasbourg (Cranequin City, 5M), AM Anise Riske (Aries Chariots, 2M), LW Jazmin Dragana (Brinemouth, Free), CB Ricky Hoslund (Blackfields, 2M), GK Joann Petersen (Lorentine Jackals, 1M), RB Kimberly Sayer (Qet, 1M)
Drafted: ST Alicia Gainsbourg (Urrheddiao State University), CM Rose-Marie Hector (University of Myana), CM Antoinette Nicollier (Urrheddiao State University), CB Clémentine Emmanuelli (Pùr State University), LW Gilbert Levett (Eyrods Tech), ST Ines Delsarte (Chromatik State University)
Background: Biggest port city in Chromatika. Second biggest city in Chromatika. Naval headquarters of Chromatika. Second biggest fishing town of Chromatika. Tourist attraction. What isn't Myana? Winners of the first three titles of the now-defunct League Chromatiks, mired in purgatory until Corey Simmons Jr. came around to rescue them. Islanders have one of the biggest fan bases as well, and their tradition of firing a cannon every time a goal is scored by the home team is one of the most unique in the league. Corey Simmons Jr. of Cosumar was instrumental in putting this team back onto the list to watch, but he isn't here anymore. The Myana faithful will expect the same quality.
Offseason: Myana… Made a killing from the collegiate ranks. Alicia Gainsbourg and Antoinette Nicollier from Urrheddiao State? Check. Rose-Marie Hector from hometown University of Myana? Check. Clémentine Emmanuelli, one of the best players of Pùr State University? Check. Couple that with the signing of tireless speedsters in Anastasiadis and Strasbourg, this team absolutely had a great offseason. Anise Riske’s knowledge of set pieces will come in handy as well. Joann Petersen is a risky signing from Lorentine Jackals, but
Strategy: Another team that uses the 4-2-3-1, Myana has the trio of Catheline Anastasiadis, Anise Riske, and Jazmin Dragana to score - and Alicia Gainsbourg will be there to do the same. A solid team from start to finish, with the only possible weakness being Petersen.
Key Player: LAM Jazmin Dragana
It is this season that Jazmin Dragana returns to Chromatika, having had many important seasons with Brinesmouth of Nephara. A key playmaker of the Anomalies national team, Dragana has perhaps three more seasons left before heading for retirement. A crosser and a shooter, she joins the like of Anastaiadis and Riske in a attacking midfield that could seriously do some damage.
Prediction: All the collegiate signings make Myana a truly formidable team. This team can win the title… But can they overcome the class that is Tihon? 2nd.
TIHON
Fans: Waver Riders, Surfers
Location: Tihon, Urrhed Island, Chromatika
Stadium: The Tidal Wave (95,210; 25,000 Seats)
Manager: Christina Applegate, 48
Captain: Sasha Kristine
Predicted Starting XI: (4-4-2) - Nur; Saint-Pierre - Daucort - Bozena - Rodier; Kristine - Girard - Saunier - / Neptune; Haodao - Dembélé.
In: GK Iskender Nur (Demirspor, 7M), LW/CF Joel Haodao (Sarim Potatoes FC, 8M), RM/LM Lorelei Neptune (AFC Treason, 6M)
Drafted: CB Marie-Louise Daucourt (Urrheddiao State University), LB Sonak Rodier (Deprí Sanar University), RB Victoire De Saint-Pierre (Pria Technical College), LM Emile Deshaies (Deprí Sanar University), CM Théo Girard (Eyrods Tech), CM Désiré Saunier (Felswyr State University), ST Élie Dembélé (Felswyr State University), RB Michel Ancel (Eyrods Tech), CB Manon Barbel (University of the Islands), ST Christiane Brunet (University of Myana), ST Noémie Dubois (University of the Islands), CM Rachel Milhaud (Z’ai’ai Institute of Technology), CM Maud Poplein (Deprí Lanar University)
Background: Located on the northern half of Urrhed Island, Tihon is another fishing town, like Urrheddiao and Myana. It is also a tourist attraction due to the huge open beaches in the area. The Tidal Wave is the focal point of the city, as many Chromatik stadiums are. Breno Schmidt led the team to back-to-back titles before leaving for Urrheddiao; that's when Catheline Allister came and picked up right where he had left off, and the team has won two more titles since while establishing themselves as a top 30 team in the world. Tide have become a rather large fish in a small pond, and their fans, the "Wave Riders" as they call themselves - have gotten quite spoiled. It stands to question if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
Offseason: Tihon had the most foreigners in the previous Chromatik League, and it showed with exactly how many players they had to draft. With thirteen players drafted from the Chromatik Collegiate Football Association, the question has to be asked: why wasn’t Tihon able to grab any of the domestic stars? Christina Applegate, who worked with Catheline Allister for many years, thinks that between Tora Bozena, Sasha Kristine, and the three players they’ve grabbed from other nations, they’ll still be able to contend. Who are those three? Iskender Nur, starter on the Timurian National Team, who needs the market; Joel Haodao, one of the better players on the Poafmersian National Team; and Lorelei Neptune, a two-footed nightmare with decent pace who is able to shoot from anywhere. Will the gamble pay off?
Strategy: Tihon deploys two side midfielders who have been given license to shoot whenever they want to. This allows the two center mids - especially being fresh out of college - to drop back and work with the back four. Joel Haodao, Lorelei Neptune, and Sasha Kristine will be the ones doing the most damage, with Élie Dembélé along to provide a presence. In the back four, Tora Bozena has been one of the most physical defenders in the league for years and will need to be the anchor in a young back line. Each player that the Tide have signed were effective in their respective collegiate teams; it remains to be seen if they can help keep Nur out of trouble.
Key Player: RM Sasha Kristine
She of eleven appearances and one goal for the Anomalies, Sasha Kristine is the best right midfielder who hasn’t made it to the Chromatik National Team for too many cycles. Her pundits say that it is due to her inconsistency in leadership; that being said, in the domestic level, Kristine is a fast-paced shooter who knows how to use her size to be at the right place at the right time. One of the two holdouts from Tihon’s previous glory days, she’ll be instrumental in having the trend continue.
Prediction: Nur. Neptune. Haodao. Bozena. Kristine. Five pieces that should be enough to secure Tihon yet another title - with enough help from the drafted players. However, it won’t be an easy path. 1st.
UMBAR
Fans: Monkeys, Loggers
Location: Umbar, Mountain District, Chromatika
Stadium: Umbar Ultima (81,200; 27,500 Seats)
Manager: Michel St. Laurent, 43
Captain: Digna Tanguay
Predicted Starting XI: (4-4-2) - Chaeffer; McKown - Ridings - Rappold - Revels; Dunson - Tanguay - Dagtekin - Gibby; Ciesla - Falcon.
In: ST Kyle Falcon (Tacoma 1836, 2M), GK Janneke Chaeffer (Chenoworth Rovers, 3M), CM/RM Aktolga Dagtekin (Yetenekli Akademisi, 1M)
Background: Twenty or so years ago, Umbar, was the southern part of Z'ai'ai. They separated and incorporated into their own township and became famous for where all the logging that gets done in Z'ai'ai gets turned into Lumber. Umbar Lumber owns the team, whose mascot of Monkeys is a rather misleading one as no Monkeys live in the mountains by Z'ai'ai. Folks say that Ms. Stefanie Igglesworth, the wife of Mr. Stephen Igglesworth, owner of Umbar Lumber during the team's inception, took a liking to Monkeys, which is why the team is called that. This is why a team called the Monkeys has a support group called the Loggers. Small, hardworking town, like many other Chromatik towns across the main island. Not many have been interested in the football club until lately, now that they are here in the Premier Division.
Offseason: A very quiet offseason for Umbar, as they focused on replacing the three foreigners they lost with three more. Michel St. Laurent stated that he wanted to have another season with the players that were present before making widescale changes. So, enter Janneke Chaeffer, a reliable shot stopper who doesn’t lack in confidence; Aktolga Dagtekin, a star in the making who is rearing to go… and Kyle Falcon, a striker who is looking for a fresh start. Couldn’t they have gotten a few college graduates for the bench, though?
Strategy: Janneke Chaeffer will be called to stop many a shot, and Kyle Falcon score many a goal. Aktolga Dagtekin can do whatever he wants. Digna Tanguay is a key piece who will play her part. The rest of the defense is solid but not spectacular, and the midfield is most of the same. This team will just need agency.
Key Player: ST Lori Ceisla
Now a four year player for Umbar, Lori Ciesla is a diminutive striker who scores most of her goals by happenstance, or, in actuality, anticipation. She is a fascinating player to watch, and one that will need to create more opportunities than the ones that Falcon can generate on his own if this team is to actually prevail.
Prediction: Simply not enough upgrades were made to this team compared to the rest of the league. Remaining in the Red League and determining the value of the cards that they hold will be all that this team should aspire for… And it may be challenging enough just to do that. 15th.
URRHEDDIAO
Fans: United
Location: Urrheddiao, Urrhed Island, Chromatika
Stadium: United Center (120,000; 28,000 Seats)
Manager: Erika Morningstar, 36
Captain: Kimi Herrington
Predicted Starting XI: (4-3-1-2) - Herrington; Zwayer - Bellamy - Batts - Modox; Elanora - Collas - Avis; Gilson; Ransom - Holz.
In: RW Rupert Holz (1884 Felsenkirchen, 2M), AM Bernard Gilson (Southern Star, 1M), RB Ayn Zwayer (Crisisbless, 3M)
Background: Located at the southernmost point of Urrhed, Urrheddiao is the seafood capital of Chromatika. It is here that most of the fishing fleets call home, and over 85% of the nation's fish is caught here. The football culture is great here as well, as United started in the second tier and worked its way up to be one of the greatest teams within the nation before the league was disbanded. The fans are quite loyal here, and the rivalry with fellow Islanders Myana is something to watch. Initially, United owners wanted the stadium to be right by the water. However, safety concerns over the huge tidal waves in the winter forced the stadium to be about fifteen miles off the coast. The stadium can be transformed into a place where a lot of the city can take shelter in in the event of a tsunami or a typhoon, as it sits at the highest point on the island.
Offseason: Erika Morningstar was hired in the eleventh hour by Urrheddiao, where she plied her craft before going over to Sabrefell Athletic in Nephara. That meant that there wasn’t enough time for Morningstar to actually do much in terms of the roster, but they were able to acquire three players for the positions that they had empty. Ayn Zwayer is a small, spiky, and attack-minded player who’ll be looking to find a second burst of a career at age of twenty-nine, Rupert Holz is a classy striker who’s also looking for greener pasture before retirement, and Bernard Gilson will do his part. An upgrade? Definitely.
Strategy: Kimi Herrington and the defense will have to do a lot for United. A wiry backfield will be the ones to try to keep her clean while Beatrice Collas, Ena Elanora, and Keeley Avis will have to get used to having three ahead of them. Bernard Gilson will only have one job - get the ball to Rupert Holz - while Holz will be the one tasked to score.
Key Player: CAM Beatrice Collas
Now playing the central midfield position after many years at the right wing, Collas is a smart playmaker who crosses first and shoots second. Now with Gilson in front of her, she’ll have to incorporate him into the arsenal as well. She seems up to the task.
Prediction: The core of this squad is solid but not spectacular, and the additions made are small yet smart. Morningstar’s first year at the helm should be a simple stay, with eyes on the future. 11th.
WIRR TSI
Fans: Shockers
Location: Wirr Tsi, Capital District, Chromatika
Stadium: The Shock (51,350; 18,000 Seats)
Manager: Sharleen Nader, 57
Captain: Jamal Pontbriand
Predicted Starting XI: (4-3-3) - Surles; Szôcs - Rockwell - Terri - Robeson; Cauthen - Karaduman - Harbuck; Timothy - Karadere - Pontbriand.
In: DM/CM Reza Karaduman (Arhavi Gencler, 1.2M), RB Viktor Szôcs (Free Agent), ST Hamit Karadere (Demirspor, 0.5M)
Background: Wirr Tsi, a city that is more towards the Mountain District, is where the Chromatik Air Force is now located, with over sixty percent of the population being military. Besides being an air force town, it's also where a lot of the armaments are manufactured. It's not a very exciting town, but an important one. Though the army has moved to Knetyohai, Wirr Tsi (pronounced Wurr Chee) kept the Air Force contingent. A new team in the Premier Division, Wirr Tsi will be looking to just stay if possible.
Offseason: Sharleen Nader was able to take the Second Division title with most of this roster, so it’s understandable that she’d give them another shot a few years later. Viktor Szôcs will provide an attacking presence from right back of all positions, Reza Karaduman a rock of a defensive midfielder who can distribute the ball over long range - a key aspect for a center midfielder on a 4-3-3 system. Hamil Karadere will be there to clean up as needed.
Strategy: Wirr Tsi made it to the Red League by having Jamal Pontbriand go off with Johan Macruse, with Dominick Timothy tagging along as needed. Ideally, the same will happen now with Hamit Karadere taking Macruse’s spot. Behind them, Eveline Cauthen and Eugenio Harbuck will try to keep the ball ahead of them with Reza Karaduman tagging behind. Earlean Surles is probably the weak link, though, meaning as long as they keep it ahead of him, they might have a chance.
Key Player: Jamal Pontbriand
After a magnificent season as part of the Second Division winning team, Pontbriand will be tasked with working a new striker in Hamit Karadere. A model team player with decent pace and superior vision, Pontbriand seems committed to sticking with Wirr Tsi for the long run despite some attention given to him by some of the better sides. Is that a worthwhile investment?
Prediction: Jamal Pontbriand is a key piece, but just one piece. The fact that they’ve stuck with Earlean Surles is a head-scratcher, and the Timurians will take some time to get used to the squad. Expect them to barely survive. 14th.
Z’AI’AI
Fans: Mountaineers
Location: Z'ai'ai, Mountain District, Chromatika
Stadium: Z'ai'ai Field (Cap. 113,000; 40,000 Seats)
Manager: Candice Milotte, 54
Captain: Alyss Montague
Predicted Starting XI: (4-3-3) - Šťastný; Cameron - Bard - Ragnard - Brill; Ghyslain - Ingalls - Montague; Antonia - Mercurier - Ennai.
In: CM Alyss Montague (Brinemouth, Free), GK Radek Šťastný (Free Agent), ST Jhon Mercurier (Exton FC, 1M), LB Alexis Brill (Aries Chariots, 1.5M)
Drafted: CB Sylvia Ragnard (University of Myana)
Background: Z'ai'ai is located in the southeast corner of Chromatika, and seated by Mt. Kùrn, the highest point in Chromatika, with elevation of 17,254 ft. It is a rare place where you can experience the mountain and the ocean at the same time within an hour's drive. Pronounced "Zee-aye-aye", it is also the cuisine capital of Chromatika as well as the headquarters of the logging industry. The Mountaineers are well-liked among the populace, though that has been getting frayed lately with the team's disappointing performances.
Offseason: Getting veteran leadership on this team was deemed the first step by Candice Milotte, new Manager. Enter Alyss Montague, the multi-year Anomalies starter, alongside Alexis Brill and Jhon Mercurier, two players both over thirty years of age. Alongside My Antonia, Nevin Ingalls, and Monica Cameron, it puts the team’s average at twenty-nine, which is old. It may do enough to have the team stick around in the Red League while Milotte institutes her system, though.
Strategy: Jhon Mercurier wanted a situation where he could score a last bevvy of goals before retiring - and Z’ai’ai is the best fit. Alyss Montague will remain a long-ranged threat from midfield, and Kirsten Ennai is a player who could’ve been whisked away; the four of them will simply need to outscore their opponents given the green nature of Radek Šťastný. With Alexis Brill also being someone who can carry the pace, the all-attack nature might pay off.
Key Player: LCM Alyss Montague
127 Caps, 23 Goals for the Anomalies. Multiple sterling seasons with Brinemouth in Nephara. Alyss Montague returns at 35 - maybe two seasons left in her stellar career - and will be trying to keep her hometown Mountaineers relevant. Given the team’s nature of just shooting with reckless abandon, her leadership and playmaking ability will be a key asset.
Prediction: Milotte has done enough to keep this team afloat; the key test will come once Mercurier, Montague, Antonia, Ingalls, and Cameron all retire in a few years. 13th.
