Dunnes Football League Championship Division

Preview

Season 4

The largest club in the largest city, Armory fans expect to be playing internationally. However, a three year UICA drought and the emergence of cross-town rivals, Beaches FC, has fans worried. They will exercise their outrage if UICA doesn't happen this year.

Star Player: Xavier Pulson

Prediction: 4th, If they don't finish in the international qualifying spots, Myhre and Co., will be out of a job, and a handful of players could join him.

After being barely knocked down to the First Division a season ago, they now find themselves playing in the Globe Cup. With loads of money from new management, they will make additional moves to supplement their roster in the off season. With those moves we expect them to stay in UICA competition and to contend for the title.

Star Player: Byron Johansson

Prediction: 3rd

After barely staying in the Championship, they need reinforcements over the summer to stay in the highest league. Coaching and management need to be on the same page in regards to expectations as well.

Star Player: Zane Roscoe

Prediction: Down to the First Division

After staying in the Championship, the outlook for DBFC is bright. With a insurgence of new players and local talent, they could find themselves in the top flight of the division.

Star Player: Max Cecil

Prediction: 8th

After finishing second, they are set on unseating Stevenson United at the top. However chemistry between the team, and mistakes against lower half teams cost them late in the season. They can't have that happen if they want to win the league this season.

Star Player: Dave Botler

Prediction: Top-4

A change in club ownership is finally settling, but they need to bring in some outside talent if they want to be on the top side of the final table. Perhaps a striker, or a midfielder who can command the field will do.

Prediction: 7th

Long gone are the days of UICA qualification, and like Deschutes FC, Mckenzie are in danger of falling through the cracks to relegation. A new player could help them return to the promised land.

Prediction: Bottom Half

The runt of the teams in Mirola, Pass has shown signs of improvement over the summer yet again. Barely saved from regulation Pass will have to balance rebuilding the team without getting regelated. An influx of transfers will help though.

Richland, needs to refind their identity if they want to return to UICA competition. However, with James and McKenna in the transfer rumors every day, they need to keep their own team together.

Prediction: Top Half

This could be a breakout year for Southriver, and turn them into a mid-major team in Dunnes. A new formation could provide them with the goals they need.

Star Player: Julian Turner

Prediction: 9th

The most storied club in Dunnes, SU will turn their heads internationally this season, both to win in competition and to garner new talent. As the golden standard in Dunnes they are getting even stronger, as young star, Marcus Brabson gets back from loan in Audioslavia.

Star Player: Benjamin Jennings

Prediction: They win four league titles in a row

After a decent year, they will need to hold onto momentum if they wish to stay in the Championship. However, a lack of tactical efficiency from the manager could make staying in the league hard.

Star Player: Davy Winchester

Prediction: 11th

After falling apart in the later months, Willamette need to build a deeper bench and sound squad in order to be able to compete in the whole competition.

Star Player: Adam Reose

Prediction: 5th

One of the tougher teams in the DFL this season, Vallen will be looking to stay up in the championship, but we fear that they just don't have the talent.

Transcript of the final minutes of the Stevenson United-Northampton game, as heard on RadioDunnes:

"And we’re here in the 85th minute at the Stadium-of-Northampton, it’s getting tight for United, and it’s still 2-0 here meaning Northampton would go through and Stevenson United, the DFL champions would be out of UICA competition after boasting of a long run before the start of the season.

And now we’ve got a substitution, looks like it’s going to be a double change, Brabson on for Griffiths and Valente on for Fredricks. The few away supporters are giving them a rousing applause as they leave the field.

Back to the other end, now and it’s Abascal throwing the ball into Owen who plays it back to Saidi-Sief.

The goalie plays the ball to Armistead. Now, Norwood. Norwood advancing, advancing across the half line and beats out Jennings, but is intercepted by Lebouw who concedes the corner.

It’s getting into a piviotal time for the away team. They need to get on the offensive front.

Badgall-Jones on the corner. Preter knocks it out with an aggressive punch, and it’s on to Valente, and suddenly it’s United on the counter, Valente moving upfield with Brabson and Ryu on his flank.

Valente plays it to Ryu, who lays up the shot, BLOCKED, by Saidi-Sief, but he’s unable to contain it and it Brabson who’s got the rebound, and BRABSON PLAYS IT INTO THE BACK OF THE NET OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! MARCUS! BRABSON!! The player who was sent on loan to Audioslavia last year has returned in triumphant fashion. Oh my! The youngster who has only been on the field for 90 seconds has put Stevenson United ahead on away goals!

Northampton plays a quick opening ball ahead to their striker Azellay. Azellay back to Norwood who comes into confrontation with Lai. Lai gets it out and it’s a Northampton throw.

Owen with the throw, but it’s won by Luofang, over the target Abascal.

Luofang with the through ball up to Bosun. Bosun at the midfield, scours his options and finds Delacruz, who loses the ball to Northampton, but they lose the ball and it’s an United throw.

And five minutes after it looked like Northampton were headed to the playoff round, but now it’s Stevenson United who are looking pretty. Bosun throws it into Jennings. Jennings brings it out to the center of the field and finds Brabson on the far corner but he’s quickly tackled by Armistead who concedes the corner as we enter the 90th minute and head into 4 additional minutes of football.

Ryu with the ball in the corner. Plays a lofty cross into the box, finds BOSUN with the HEADER, it’s off, BUT BRABSON SLIDES INTO THE BALL AND GETS IT INTO THE BACK OF THE NET. THATS TWO FOR THE YOUNGSTER. MY GOODNESSSSSSSSS. MARCUS BRABSON YOU ARE A STAR. OH MY OH MY. AND THE AWAY CROWD IS ROCKING THE AWAY STAND HERE IN NORTHAMPTON. Surely that will be enough for the Dunian side to go through now surely, surely they will go through.

And for the second time in 5 minutes it’s a Northampton kickoff…."
