When are the signups for the next HWC going to go up?

Group Draw for the HWC 18 is up.

Looks like Abanhfleft was accidentally excluded from the signup list, therefore I left him out of the pots and group draw. At the consent of the user, I'm now leaving Gadirya out to make room for Abanhfleft. Sucks, but Gadirya/Felix was the only puppet/master situation in the signups for this edition, and I didn't want to delay the competition to wait on 3 more signups because of the upcoming holidays.

To preserve the groups as much as possible, I am sacrificing my position in Pot 1 as host to make room for Abanhfleft (ranked 5) and put Drawkland in Gadirya's place in Pot 3 (which is possible considering my tied rank with Mattijana spills over into Pot 3). Only Groups 2 and 6 will be affected.

It's a joke "club" of some members of the IRC community who support the team FAS in the El Salvador football league. Mainly done to poke fun at San Jose Guayabal (may he rest in peace).

Just wanted to remember that the HWC is still up and didn't die. Since i took care about the tournament, was about to announce it after the past WC, but with many RL tasks couldn't find the time to do that, and specially when i returned with Meski. Also, btw, we hadn't huge RP activies in the past edition, only a few to be honest, so will be decided to take a time and a break, for the next WC break and any updates will be brought to you in this thread.

Alright fellas, got 2 things to talk about.

First off, Handball World Cup 20? Should it happen? With RedBlack sadly retiring this past WC cycle, the main keeper of the HWC is now gone. I'm willing to bring this back and be the next "keeper of the tournament" per se, but if anybody else responsible enough wants to do it then we can talk it over.

There hasn't been huge amounts of RP in the past few Cups but it still seems like it draws a little bit of interest, so we can see. If anything, HWC 20 can be a trial run and if it's not active enough we can call it quits. 20 is a nice round number to end on, too.

Secondly, another nation has telegrammed me proposing a Champion's League for handball. You know, like UICA for handball or whatever. This sounds like a fun idea, and there were a few editions run here in years past, but it would be cool to see a revival. Of course, there'd have to be sufficient interest. If, say, 8 nations or more are willing to scorinate domestic handball leagues and post the results here, we can talk about having a competition.

There was originally a thread for this actually, here, where they ran 10 editions and had entrants for an 11th which was never scorinated. We can, of course, either continue in this vein (maybe with a newer thread) or make a "different" tournament.

In any case, let's talk! What do you guys think?

Regarding the domestic leagues, the biggest issue with the UICA equivalents for sports other than soccer over the years has been finding somebody who actually wants to scorinate the UICA equivalent part on a regular basis. If there's somebody out there who wants to do that, I imagine finding enough people interested in scorinating domestic leagues won't be a problem.

I would definitely be up for the HWC, and also for a Champions League given that the SHL is being regularly scorinated. Might also be willing to do some hosting of either tournament, depending on the amount of work involved/time requirements.

Handball looks like a good idea to me, and a domestic league seems even better.
