The Kirishima Footballing Association proudly presents the second edition of the Emperor's Cup. Due to Kirishima/Flardania strong love of Association Football, the K.F.A and Emperor Masahi Shirakawa have teamed up to provide such a service to the people of Kirishima. Originally being an open tournament for clubs before the Konami Premier League, this incarnation seeks to invite nations to Kirishima to play in a friendly and open tournament.

This tournament is very unique as despite being a tournament hosted by the KFA, the KFA will not be participating except for an exhibition against the champions. The point of the competition is to provide more caps for international teams while providing international football in Kirishima for viewship. This gives the local fans the confidence of simply enjoying the most popular sport without worrying about their team's performance and help teams participating not worry about the host nation's advantage. Welcome to the Emperor's Cup!

Kirishima as it is called in the East and as Flardania in the West is an archipelago in the Asia Pacific. Kirishima means literally Mist and Island in Japanese and is known locally as the Islands of the Mist. Kirishima is an archipelago comprising of 1,721 islands. They can be divided into seven large and major islands - Hontō, Zipangu, Yamatai, Reijima, Kiyomisu, Iroshima, and Yajiriguni. Kirishima is an interesting place that is historically made up of Kirishinans which sociologist determined to be remnants and refugees of the Baekje Kingdom during the rise of the Silla kingdom in Korea in 660 A.D. These people mixed with Japanese who already shipwrecked or settled in the region prior, along as local Asiatic peoples. Each had their own kingdoms that would eventually be united under four Kingdoms which would eventually be divided amongst Europeans. Namely the French and British. When the french won one of their few theater conflicts in the seven years war they named the land Flardania in honor of the Swedish explorer who discovered the land in the name of France.

Kirishima despite having an Asian majority population, has a decent sized European, African, Arabic minority. The nation is proud of it's very welcoming and tolerant attitude despite how it looks. It is a moderate nation that can be very liberal on some issues and conservative on others. A very important piece of information is the prohibition of smoking tobacco. Kirishinan people believe in a clean body and clean environment even before the world found out about those issues. One may be caught off guard by how clean of litter the cities and metro systems tend to be.

Climate

The weather in Kirishima is generally temperate, with four distinct seasons:

Winter, from December to February, is quite dry and sunny along the Pacific coast and the temperatures rarely drop below 32°F.

Spring is from March to May. Temperatures are warm but not too hot, plus there isn’t too much rain. The Kirishinan cherry blossoms are out during this time and there are plenty of festivals to enjoy.

Summer begins in June and the country experiences a three to four-week rainy season, rice tends to be planted by farmers during this time. It is hot and humid during this time and temperatures are often in the high 90’s. Summer wraps up in August.

Autumn is from September to November and is characterized by light breezes and cooler temperatures of around 43-52ºF. It’s during autumn that many exhibitions, and many sports tournaments are held in Kirishima.

When to go:

Spring is considered the best time to go, since the temperatures are most favorable. Another good time is during any of Flardania's various festivals throughout the year. Such as the festival of Emperor Hisahito Ransugawa in June.

Transportation

To get to Kirishima you'll likely just want to fly in to the city that you will be playing in. Or at least the nearest city to where the match is being held. While traveling within the country there are a few methods. While having a strong and well used automobile industry, it is recommended that you use the extremely reliable and also used NLRS (National Lightning Rail Service) lines. The railways here are quick and they are punctual.

Languages

There are two official languages in Kirishima: Japanese,and French. English and Korean are also well known and used . All major street signs, freeways, maps,etc. can be found in it the two languages. All Kirishinans know at least the two official languages, a good amount know the two official + English or Korean and some even know all four by the time they finish schooling.

Religion
Kirishima has at least 87% of it's people following the Lake Shore Order, with 5% being Catholic(With no other christian important christian sects. With the other 5% consisting of Buddhism, Shinto, and Islam. All religions are permitted, so long as they do not cause people to violate the law. However Atheism is not allowed to be publicly professed and not viewed as a religion.

Money/Cuisine

The national currency of Kirishima is the Kirishinan Weidai. The current exchange rate is $1.7 NSD for 1 WDI. Kirishinan cuisine is largely based upon Rice, Vegatables, and Meats such as Beef, Pork, Goat, Lamb and Chicken. Also popular is Fish, Poultry, Soups, Crustaceans. Flardanians also like to eat there foods hibachi style as well.

Laws
Recreational drugs: Legal for Medical Use.
Hard drugs: Illegal
Prostitution: Legal. Workers must receive license from Ministry of Health. It is regulated and taxed. Workers must be checked frequently for STD's and businesses must perform test on any new employee or customer.
Pornography: Possession and viewing is Legal everywhere. Models must at least be of age of consent (16) and must be 18 if porn is exported. Violations and committing child pornography can result in 20-life in prison.

Armeian Football presents... The Super Dragons

With the war in northwest Armeia, the roster will be different than last time, the most notable thing being the absence of the players that are off fighting right now. However, Armeia brings to the tournament a young squad that features some of the brightest U-22 talents.

INFORMATION:
Nickname: Super Dragons
Colors: Black, red, and blue, the colors of the three regions of Armeia
Style: +3
Manager: Conor Svedsson(32, Vandals FC)

STADIUMS:

STARTING XI:

GOALKEEPER: After fully recovering from his injuries, it's time for Augustus Lenz to start again, as the usual starter, Isa Tangemen, is away with the military. Lenz has good vision and skill at commanding the back line, and this tournament is the first that he's started in since the Sporting World Cup.

LEFT BACK: The defensive star for Armeia during the Di Bradini Cup, Nita Jagr. While she may be young and undersized compared to the forwards that she faces on the pitch, Nita makes up for it with instinct, smarts, and blistering pace on counter attacks.

CENTERBACK: Bojan Fertig, free agent defender who is expected to sign for Atlas at the start of the season. Better with technique than pure strength. Formerly captain of lower division side Redtown FC.

CENTERBACK: If Fertig represents skill and finesse, Atlas CB Alek Sander is the opposite, basing his game around physicality and power. Started most games for Atlas last season and started for Western in all of their Regions Cup matches.

RIGHT BACK: Northeastern defender Leonne Warner is starting for the senior national team for the first time after good performances in the Sporting World Cup and Di Bradini Cup. Fits the model of an Armeian winger more than a full back; She's aggressive, has a high work rate, and is physically very athletic. Expected to transfer to the Shore United expansion team soon.

HOLDING MIDFIELDER: Atlas mid Tilo Abramsson will be holding down the middle for the national team, moving from an attacking role to a role where his main goal will be to win possession and set up the attackers, or to drop back and aid the central defenders.

CENTRAL MIDFIELDER: Zoran Michel, dubbed by the media to be Milan Toure's apprentice in training, is also being moved from a more attacking role to a central role. He'll be playing like an advanced playmaker, distributing the ball to the wingers and forwards.

WIDE MIDFIELDER: Reina Toure is starting in place of her brother, and playing as more of a wide midfielder than a winger. Toure, who now plays for AFC Center City, is extremely skillful and is known by the fans as an explosive player who works best in tight spaces, such as near the sideline.

FALSE TEN: Raven Ljelt is moving away from her normal role in the 14 zone to drop deeper and roam free in Armeia's attacking half, gaining the ball and making runs, while also setting up Ryoto Taguchi and Dan Nazaryan.

RAUMDEUTER: Ryoto Taguchi retains her previous role, a wide winger who moves freely around the left side of the pitch, focusing on making off the ball runs into space to look for chances to score. Almost like a poacher, but on the wing.

POACHER: Dan Nazaryan, who recently went on loan to AC Kawajiri from Atlas, is the brightest youth player that Armeia has to offer, and his specialty relates to one thing: scoring from near the goal. Nazaryan is an expert poacher, who is expected to lead the team in scoring.

BENCH:

GK - Ai Takagawa
GK - Anke Vira
CB - Amy Abramsen
CB/HB - Soren Bayer
DM - Alakare Abbey
CM - Klemens Lauritz
WM - Pandora Reimfeller
CF - Sakura Hallbjorn

Also here's my first RP...

The Home Front

Part One

Nita Jagr’s POV

It’s Emperor’s Cup time again, but we’ll be facing some big challenges in defending our title. Starting goalkeeper Isa Tangemen was is out on the front lines of combat, fighting the Republika Kroatien in the newly intensified Border War, leaving Augustus Lenz and Ai Takagawa to fight for the starting spot. Our prolific goalscorer, Kameron Hamsik, is also fighting, and our world beating winger, Milan Toure, isn’t competing to rest up for the D1 season. And then there’s our unpredictable midfield, led by newcomer Raven Ljelt and the injury prone Zoran Michel, after Tyra Halloway went out with a bad injury.

And then there’s our defense, with me, Nita Jagr, expected to start opposite of Leonne Warner at left back, because of my good performance in the U-21 World Cup. We might have experiance at central defender, with Bojan Fertig and Alek Sander returning, but both me and Warner haven’t competed at the top level internationally before now.

Finally, our team chemistry isn’t that high. We’re all focused on the war back home, and everyone has different opinions on it. The Northerners and Westerners are actually sticking together for once, separating from the Southern players who have different opinions on the conflict.

I hope we’ve got it in us to defend the title, but I can’t wholeheartedly make myself believe that we can, unless something changes once the tournament actually starts. Unless something changes quite a bit…

~~~
“Who’s Sylvain?” Raven asks me, almost as soon as she starts her SUV. We’re carpooling to practice today, like we always do when we’re on international duty together, but this morning she was in a really bad mood and now I think I know why.
“A friend of mine I met when I traveled for school, why?” I ask, wanting to know where this is headed. Raven backs out of the parking garage and pulls onto the main road, her face totally unreadable. I’m afraid that my love life, my stupid, complicated, love life is about to fall apart. The truth is, Sylvain is my boyfriend, but when Raven revealed her feelings for me, I acted like I liked her to keep her from hurting herself if I rejected her.
“Don’t fucking lie to me,” Raven snaps, narrowing her eyes. “I found out the truth yesterday from Leonne. I just want to ask why, why’d you decide to lie to me?”
“I… I just wanted you to be safe,” I sigh, closing my eyes and leaning my head back. “I was going to tell you eventually, but I didn’t want to distract you before the tournament. I’m sorry, Raven. If you’re mad at me and you don’t want to be my friend anymore, I understand.”
Raven is silent before speaking softly. “No. I promised you when we were kids that I’d never leave your side. You're not getting rid of me that easy.”
I remain silent, not sure what to say that won't make Raven snap. I hate talking to her when she's like this, when she has a temper that will go off with one wrong word, even when she's acting calm for now.
“I miss it when we were young. When we ran around in South Terrum, playing in abandoned buildings and sandlots, I miss how we would take those trips up to Barrier Island and hang out with hooligans from Cruz Blanca because we wanted to feel grown up,” Raven said. “Back then, I never had to worry about love. And it seemed like we could do anything once our careers took off.”
“But Raven, you have a better career than me so far,” I state. She got right into a top club, while I’m stuck in purgatory, playing for an expansion team that experts thought would get relegated.
“Yeah right. I hate this team that I play for. There was only one reason for me to stay and that was the manager, and my idiot teammates ran her out because she demands too much effort from them,” Raven sighed, accelerating. “And it's not like they're going to just let me leave by transfer, I'm too valuable. Be happy that you play for a club like Cruz Blanca, that doesn't have the power to protect their star players from transfers.”
“Where do you want to play?”
“Where every poor Northern girl wants to play. Hawks United. But I doubt I'm going to make it there, after injuring their best player in the middle of the season. Maybe I'll go down a division and sign for Athletic Cora City. No players there that act like whiny children, no foreigners either. It must be nice to play for them,” Raven replied, weaving around traffic. “They're like Vandals, before Vandals sold their souls by signing a Croat to win the league.”
“Petra Jennings is only half Croat you know. She's a quarter German and a quarter Czech,” I say, a bit annoyed by Raven’s racism, if only because of my own roots. “We can't all be pure Russian like you,” I add. “I mean, I'm half Spanish, even though you can't really tell from looking at me.”
“I know, Nita. You Spanish aren't that bad, even though you took over half of our one city, Barrier City, and started the whole Catholic versus Orthodox thing there, and uh, you guys ruined the football team I support. But it would make my skin crawl to share a locker room with an ethnic group that's in open warfare with us.”
“That's not fair to blame the Barrier City troubles on us, the Orthodox are the ones who started everything…”
“Yeah right,” mutters Raven, zooming into the parking lot and parking as quickly as possible, slamming into someone's expensive sports car in the process.
“Raven! You just hit Ai’s car! She's going to be so pissed off when she sees it…”
“Oh well,” Raven shrugged, backing up slightly and hopping out of the SUV. “She’ll get over it.”
“Why are you acting like this?” I ask, following her.
“Like what?”
“Like this. You turn into a bitch when someone hurts you, and that's how you're acting right now,” I state, deciding to be completely honest.
“Why would I be hurt? Well, my best friend only lied to my face and pretended to love me, while she was dating someone else. You of all people should know how bad that hurts.”
It's true, I was cheated on in the past, and that makes me feel worse about what I did. But Raven continues before I can reply. “You know what? Maybe you aren't the friend I thought you were. You're just another poser, acting like you're my friend because I'm famous now. I understand. You're just like Reina and Ai and Christa and… Everyone else on this team. Except Leonne.”
I may have been a bit too honest, when what she needed was for someone to agree with her and help her ego. “That isn't true…”
“Yeah, Nita, it pretty much is. Just leave me alone, okay?”
And so I stand there, watching my best friend walk off, not able to tell if she's just having a mood swing or if she really isn't my friend anymore.
~~
Zoran Michel’s POV
Practice ended early, when coach Svedsson had an announcement to make. “I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but all of you would have found out about this soon enough anyway,” he started, all the players gathered around. “As you know, certain members of our team are currently in the field back home with the military, fighting to secure the security of Western Armeia. I've received a report from back home that our striker, Kameron Hamsik, has been ruled missing in action after her body wasn't found in the wreckage of one of our helicopters.”
There were gasps from the players, and many turned their eyes towards Filip Hamsik, Kameron’s young son who was with Pandora near the sideline.
Reina Toure, Kameron’s former teammate from Hawks United, tried to stay composed but couldn't keep herself from shedding a few tears. A lot of the other players looked visibly shaken, knowing that they had friends and family out fighting in the same conflict.
“Do we know what happened when the helicopter went down?” I ask, asking the question that everyone is thinking.
“Not completely, but I was told that it was heading to New Zagreb from the southern part of the Republika Kroatien, when it was shot down by anti air installations that our recon didn't see,” sighed Conor. “Kameron’s ID tag was found in the wreckage, but not her body.”
Pandora looks physically sick, and I want to say something to make her feel better but I can't think of anything. Before anyone else can talk to her, she stands up and leaves, presumably to head to the bathroom.
I think all of us are motivated more now, because we don't just want to win for ourselves, we want to win for Kameron, and for our dead. Those of us from Northern and Western Armeia are outraged, finally agreeing on something even though our regions have a reputation for being at odds with each other. And when we've played angry in the past, good things have happened.
Cooper played for Riverton for nine years and in the middle at age 18 started playing for the United States of Devonta national men’s soccer team as a substitute goalkeeper against in the region of North Valheaven and North America Paradise. At the age of 23 he became the starting goalkeeper and helped make his nations team the #1 ranked team in his region. In a surprising decision Riverton F.C traded him for three players from Mariner F.C where he plays today.
Cooper is known for his ultra fast hand-eye coordination, which allows him to move quickly and almost mystically in the goalie box. The ever observant Cooper is good at keeping track of the ball and can easily perform perfect passes and goalie kicks. Known also to play through pain and refuse to give up or let himself done. He is known to be very caring towards children and is a strong supporter of welfare programs.
7- Brandon Lee Kowalski [Carter Villa F.C]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 170 lbs - Age: 24 - Substitute
Kowalski started playing soccer at an early age at his local recreational centers team. During his highschool years he played on the national stage in the youth soccer league while playing for his high school as the topped ranked varsity goalkeeper in the country. When he graduated at the age of 17 he was instantly recruited by the Carter Villa F.C as a substitute goalkeeper. He has proudly stayed with the team through its worst and last season became the team's starting goalkeeper replacing Tim Snyder. Finally he was chosen to play for the national team the same year. He still waits for a chance to prove himself on the international level.
Kowalski is known for being a very quick and observant goalie and very timid, Usually sticking to the box instead of attacking. He is also known for being very flexible. Kowalski is very loyal to his teams and it can get him in fights against rival teams.
11- Nicolas El Nunez [Santa Julia Rockets]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 152 lbs - Age: 26 - Substitute
Nunez played in local leagues around Santa Julia most of his child life before making it on the Washington Heights High school’s varsity soccer team as a freshman. He played well but also had his bad games. He managed to make it in his cities minor national league team and played well there for most of his soccer career. Finally at the age of 25 after two good seasons he was offered a two year contract by Bull F.C but he rejected it saying he likes the minor leagues friendly environment better and nothing could change that. Nunez did go to the national training camp and managed to do the unthinkable and beat out many of the major league goalkeepers causing a massive upset.
Nunez is known for being cocky which makes him a very aggressive goal keeper sometimes even running at attacking strikers to get the ball, This sometimes backfires on him and they get past him, Although he catches many by surprise.
Left Defenders [Left Fullbacks/Wingers]:
2- Johnson Alexander Brooks [Strickland F.C]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 155 lbs - Age: 33 - Starter
Brooks did not always play soccer but instead played basketball as a point guard which he soon figured out had the same concept as a left winger which he started playing when he tried soccer in 8th grade, After realizing his love for the game he joined a national soccer training program and rapidly gained the skills needed to be a top player in the sport. He played one year for his high school then graduated. After high school he went to college at Desmound State where only in his first season he was recruited by Carter Villa F.C and played seven long years with the team scoring 20 goals as a left winger. As he wanted more opportunity, He played in the nation of Neo-Liberalis for five years on two different teams before returning and being signed with Strickland F.C where he has played his last two seasons at. It was no surprise to soccer critics when the #1 defender in the country was picked for the national team, Making him the oldest member of the team too.
Brooks is known for being quick and waiting for the right moments to strike out at an unsuspecting player and being able to drive the ball up and make quick precise passes or relatively accurate long shots towards the opposing teams goal. Its known by all players in his league that he never brags or acts like a sore loser and always has an upbeat attitude.
3- Jose Manzano Alvarez [Astro F.C]
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 164 lbs - Age: 24 - Substitute
Alvarez played soccer in the Youth Soccer League in Santa Julia, New Julia before he started playing for his high school for four years, Although he was considered good and one of the best players in New Julia he was not recruited, But given a scholarship to New Julia University where he played all four of his college years and won one best player award and two best defender awards. After graduation he was finally recruited by a major league team which was his hometowns Astro F.C. Soon after his recruitment into the football club he was invited to the national teams training camp. Alvarez successfully finished camp and was selected to play for the national team.
Alvarez seems to know when to attack another player for the ball or play more cautiously, Making it hard for players to get past him. Despite being able to steal and retrieve the ball he sometimes manages to lose the ball in sloppy fast paced dribbles and does not have the best long passes, Although his speed makes up the distance usually. Alvarez his an active community organizer and donates to charities often.
Center Defenders [Center Backs/Sweepers]:
5- Martin Paul Benton [Middleton F.C]
Height: 6’1 - Weight: 188 lbs - Age: 21 - Starter
A product of Blue River Valley High Schools soccer program Benton arises from high school soccer a three time MVP and many best player awards including many man of the matches. He was instantly drafted as a first round pick by Middleton F.C. During his first season Benton showed his worth as a fast and ultra observant sweeper for his team making many goals that could've been no more by knocking them out of the penalty box. In his second season his team made it to the finals. Benton played admirably till the last ten minutes when he made the mistake of passing the ball to player on the other team, Resulting in a 1-0 loss. Benton was driven to make it in the mens national team by his haunting mistake, That he did and as the second youngest player on the team.
Benton many strengths is is quick agility and his ability to focus on multiple points of the penalty box at one time, It is also not uncommon to see him quickly slide tackle without fouling. Critics have noticed he has gotten more aggressive on the field since his mistake and only passes short precise passes. If there is one thing everyone knows, It is he wants to redeem himself.
6- Daniel Kay Kindred [Nordland F.C]
Height: 6’4 - Weight: 223 lbs - Age: 27 - Starter
Kindred started playing soccer in the 6th grade for his middle school. By high school he made his varsity team his freshman year and in his Junior year was recruited by his state's only professional team Nordland F.C. at the age of seventeen. He was taller than most of the players on his team and known to be intimidating when you meet him. His taller stature also made him a natural born center back. He made himself known in the professional league as a tall player and can beat most in a jumping battle. After five years in Nordland F.C. he was loaned off for three years to a professional team in the nation of Seggenea. After a successful time in Seggenea and a best defender reward in that country, He was given back to Nordland F.C. and played two more seasons and scoring an unprecedented goal from midfield aided by the wind in his returning seasons quarter-finals. Kindred as a natural defender easily made it into the national teams trading camp and was quickly selected.
Kindred's large size makes him an excellent jumper and he his not afraid to throw his weight around or slide tackle with his large feet, Although he can get to aggressive and fouls are a worry when he plays. His mighty long legs make his work as a centre back easy. Attacking he is more clumsy so he chooses to stay on his half of the field unless instructed otherwise.
8- Micco Chi Takishima [Harding F.C]
Height: 5’8 - Weight: 140 lbs - Age: 24 - Substitute
Takishima went to Braden Soccer Academy for most of his youth soccer career, Till his last two years of high school when he was transferred to Wesley Soccer Academy. His performance his last two years got him in a local minor league team for three years, By the time agents came to observe his minor league team he was the best defender on his team and was signed to Harding F.C. and played two average seasons. In the middle of this he joined the national guard and played for his bases soccer team. The experience in the army was different than in the major league although he quickly adapted. Takishima found it hard to get selected for the national team but was ultimately accepted.
Takishima short size make him quick and agile and he is usually on the attack, This has its setbacks sense he sometimes strayed too far from his position as center back and goes to the mid field. He also suffers from anger problems which he tries to control.
Right Defenders [Right Fullback/Winger]:
7- Brayden Liam Jr. [Ceceila United F.C]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 174 lbs - Age: 26 - Starter
Liam started playing soccer at the age of 10, Since then he fell in love. Playing for his high school he received every best player reward from his school for the four years he was there. After high school he played soccer at Ceceila State University for three years before being signed by Danza F.C a professional football club in his junior year. Liam played well for Danza but a rocky third year prompted Danza to trade him to Ceceila United F.C. Coming back from a bad season playing for a different team Liam contributed in his teams championship victory the first year he was on there team. Liam to the offer to go train and try out at the national teams training camp and was a quite easy pick to join the team.
Liam prefers a slow paced controlled dribble and is not as fast as the other players on his team, Although he is the best a dribbling and noted for his crossing capabilities. His slow dribble can be a problem as many players take opportunities to steal the ball, Although his slow pace usually can draw fouls from this. As a Winger his control allows for great passes and shots that are usually on goal.
9- Eric James Martin [Real Langston F.C]
Height: 5’10 - Weight: 167 lbs - Age: 22 - Substitute
Martin was not introduced to soccer till he decided to try out for his high schools soccer team at a freshman and made junior varsity. The next year he was pushed up to the varsity team and in the next three years. In his senior year his high school won the state championship partly because of him. Martin then went to college at Langston University where he played soccer for two years having an okay first season and a good second season, His performance in the second season of his college career earned him a chance to play for Real Langston F.C which he proudly took and signed with the team for two years. Martin had an exciting but still disappointing first year. He had his good and bad moments and critics were a shocked by his poor performance. Looking for another opportunity to shine Martin found himself at the national teams training camp and was selected for the roster.
Martin is a quick Right Fullback and he is not afraid to challenge an opponent for the ball, Although this can backfire if his opponent is good at crossing but his speed makes up for any lost ground. Martin is known for only being able to play on the right side of the field and normally played poorly in the center and left side of the field.
Defensive Midfielder:
4- Isaiah Brandon Russell [Danza F.C]
Height: 5’11 - Weight: 177 lbs - Age: 28 - Starter
Russell’s father was a soccer coach for a local youth soccer program which Russell was made to play on. Russell played four years with the team and also played for his high school's varsity team. After graduating high school he was offered a four year contract to play for Danza F.C, Which he proudly accepted. Playing for Danza he seen the team make it to the semi-finals twice in a row. In a three year loan Danza traded him to Nordland F.C. At Nordland he shined with the rest of its strong defense although he played on the midfield. After three years at Nordland F.C. he was then resigned to Danza F.C. and signed another four year contract similar to his first. Two years into his contract he has seen many successes although his team has seen better days. Russell easily made it on to the national team.
Russell is not a good all around player and plays best as a defensive midfielder, He is quick and knows how to mark men and pass well, He seems to work best in tight situations and does not disappoint. He has admitted that he needs to work on his crossing and needs to improve his average level dribble.
10- Marco Hernandez Jr. [Ceceila United F.C]
Height: 5’8 - Weight: 145 lbs - Age: 22 - Substitute
Hernandez begun his soccer career playing for a local youth league team, He left the team during his first year of high school to play for a minor league team. He played up and down seasons for six years, Four of those years he played on his high schools varsity team to. His six season at the age of 20 was his most successful and his team won the minor league championships. Hernandez was signed by Ceceila United F.C and listed in there reserves. During his first season in the reserves he played two games and did well in both. He is suspected to be a starter for the team next season. Hernandez surprisingly was selected to play for the national team after a excellent show at the national training camp.
Hernandez is known for his nice crosses and his ability to slide tackle well, He is not the fastest player but not the slowest either. He struggles with finding and then passing to a man, Whether he kicks it out or down the field if pressured too much.
Four years in his five year contract Abdullah has played very well for the once struggling football club. He has one championship with the team and has been to the semi-finals with the club. Rumors say he plans on staying with the team and resigning when his current contract ends, Although no one can guess what the #1 midfielder will do next.
Abdullah has described himself as a devout Muslim and prays on the side of the field every game. He is known for his versatility on all sections of the field, Defense or Offense, Left or right he can play. Dribbling, passing, crossing, and striking are his main perks. The only thing that brings him down is he can sometimes become a ball hog.
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 154 lbs - Age: 24 - Substitute
Phillips played soccer for a youth league team most of his childhood till the age of 17, When he was selected to play for a minor league team. After just one year with the minor league team and a bad season he terminated his contract and started attending Franks University where had two perfect seasons and brought his team to the semi-finals his second year. After his second year he was drafted as a second round pick by Real Langston F.C. and signed a two year contract. Both seasons where good for Phillips and critics noticed he evolved a lot from when he played at a university level. Real Langston made it to the quarterfinals twice but have not made it any further. Phillips herd of the opportunity to try out for the national team and he took it. After much hard work he managed to make the team.
Phillips is known for his ability to mark men and steal the ball with quick reflexes. Phillips can get very frustrated at players and officials but usually manages to control it.
Height: 5’9 - Weight: 161 lbs - Age: 22 - Substitute
Crox did not start playing soccer till he was sixteen years old, Playing for his local high school team and managing to bring them to two city wide championships both years, But his team lost on the state level. He played for Kanza University for two seasons and helped them win one championship. After two years he was offered a large contract lasting two years with the Devonta City Capitals, A minor league team. In his first season he played well and his the Capitals made it to the finals but were defeated 1-0. Crox was one of the few minor league players invited to the national teams training camp and in an impressive feat was selected to play for the national team.
Crox is better suited for defense then he is on the offense, That is one reason he plays as a defensive midfielder. Known in the minor leagues for being able to mark men and pass, Although he is also known for being too aggressive and bad crossing. Crox as shown he can learn more from his more professional teammates and is very promising.
A year after playing soccer for his high school he left his youth team and joined a minor league team. The next three years he saw his high school team go to three quarter finals and his minor league team make it to the quarter finals twice and semi-finals once, Many critics were not surprised when he was signed to a four year contract with Harding F.C. after he finished his time on his minor league team and graduated high school. Jane Gullie has opted against using this tournament for any wild experimentation, even though it had been speculated that she might do just that. There will be much focus on individual performances here in Flardania, as the Emperor's Cup will go a long way to deciding the shape of the Schottic side for the up coming World Cup Qualifiers. With that in mind, Gullie has named a squad of 23, which includes five uncapped players, all of whom have caught the eye with some standout performances for their domestic sides last season.
Young Cornellians keeper Jeremy McNott comes into the squad, but perhaps most crucially team captain Lucas D'Araby is left out. This paves the way for Port Sebastian's Chris Gonzaö to pick up the number-one jersey, as Gullie seems to be preparing for the day the Handon United man retires. Other interesting additions are Marionville's Barry Stewart, and Port Patrick duo Cerys Kennicot and Heron Crew, and Lammerton kid John McCormack. We know that Gullie had some trouble settling on one centre-forward on the road to Quebec and Apox, so Crew will undoubtedly present a chance for the 40-year-old to try and find another missing piece of her starting line-up. His teammate Kennicot was extremely impressive in her debut SPL season, and provided the league's second highest number of assists. At 22, it must seem like a good opportunity to see what she can do in white and green, and with any luck she will provide useful cover for Chloe Rudden on the left side. Barry Stewart has been something of a late bloomer, although the 28-year-old has been knocking on the door for a few seasons. Gullie has no shortage of good midfielders in the current national pool, but this will be a good opportunity to take a look at Stewart who may provide a more 'Bread & Butter' option. McCormack, finally, has been one of the league's top scorers for the last two seasons, and even at 21 he should make an appearance here at the Emperor's Cup.
For the first time in five cycles, Schottia go with a strip designed by a Schottic designer, reverting back to the nationalised SchottSport sportswear manufactures. The move has come after recent regulations governing marketing and advertising within the nation's legislation, have forced the team to use unbranded kits.
Squad
The starting line up displayed here is probably the most likely eleven to play, however, if you are PRing feel free to read the player descriptions and make a few changes. Also you can check my more recent posts in the RP tread to get some more up to date information.
1. GK Chris Gonzaö, 26 | Image Port Sebastian | Height:202cm Weight:85kg
Part of the title winning Port Sebastian side, Chris Gonzaö finally gets his chance in to pull on the keeper's jersey in an international tournament. Years under the shadow of Lucas D'Araby has meant that his caps have been limited largely to friendlies, however, the big keeper will be hoping to get some experience here in Flardania. With The Hanodon United keeper's retirement no doubt looming, Gonzaö needs to prove himself here.
2. RB Larry Watt, 24 | Image 1860 Azoth, | Height: 180cm. Weight: 75kg
Now firmly established as Schottia's first choice right back, Watt has won great reviews while playing for his country. The former Di Bradini Cup winner started his career at Marionville, where the first team experience he gained helped him win a move to Buyanese side Blau-Weiss Pallstadt. After fighting his way into the first team there, Watt was recently snapped up by Cenian side 1860 Azoth for a sum of $9 million. Larry Watt is a tall powerful runner, who has a strong emphasis on defence. His reluctance to get forward and support the attack has been criticised on occasion, however he is a solid player, who rarely makes mistakes.
3. LB Darren O'Brian, 26 | Image King's Park | Height:178cm Weight:71kg
Following a fantastic season, where his club Kings Park finished second in the league two seasons ago, O'Brian will be keen to prove that the form he showed there was no flash in the pan. He has been in the senior set-up in Schottia for five years now, and despite being a left winger, he has made the left-back position his own. There have been a few well documented cases, where he has slipped up defensively, however he makes up for it with his attacking skill. His pace and ability to support the forward players, is crucial to how Schottia play.
4. CB Darren Hanlon, 25 | Image FC Matovallanen | Height:188cm Weight:84kg
Hanlon is another player who has been on the move recently, joining up with Semarland side FC Matovallanen. The player who started his career with Kings Park, captained Schottia in the IX Olympics and has represented his country at all levels. Hanlon is a very professional player, who has a great technical ability, and top class positioning. Still young for a centre-back, there is a lot of excitement around this player, with regards to the future of the national team.
13. CB. Gareth Souter, 21 | Image Sporting Cenial | Height: 189cm. Weight: 79kg
Since making his debut for Handon United aged 18, there has been a feeling that Souter could be a special player. After leaving the club to join up with Cenian side Sporting Cenial, he impressed the Schottic management team with a string of good performances. He helped his club to fourth in the league last season, and was named fourth best defender in the league in the process. Souter is a strong player, who takes the game very seriously. He has a good footballing ability and is comfortable on the ball, meaning he can play in midfield if called upon.
11. CM Barry Stewart, 28 | Image Marionville | Height:185cm Weight: 80kg
Barry Stewart has been absolutely outstanding for Marionville over the last two seasons, and has dragged himself in to contention for a call up. He is a ball winning midfielder, who works hard to press the opposition, and rarely misplaces a pass. His is not the most exciting brand of football out there, but he is reliable, and comes with a lot of SPL experience.
8. CM Alfred Seggerson, 27 | Image Handon United | Height:181cm Weight:79kg
Seggerson joined current club Handon United aged sixteen from Kloithian club Amothsborg Fishermen for a fee of £250,000. Since then he has grown into one of their most important first team players, making his debut two years later. His nation of birth, Kloith, has since undergone a brutal revolution and his passport was declared not valid. Seggerson has now been granted Schottic citizenship winning his first cap in a friendly in Flardania. Seggerson is a quick and agile midfielder, with over 250 appearances in the Schottic Premier League. He is a solid playmaker who can chip in a few goals from the midfield.
6. A/CM FC Kim Coultan, 22 | Image Crawford City | Height:160cm Weight:52kg
From the fringes of a side in the second tier of Schottic football to one of the stars of a team, which finished third in the Buyanese Top League. Coultan's journey over the last two years of her life has been a rags to riches story. The 22-year-old DBC winner became the first woman to play for the senior team when she was capped in the Cup of Harmony cycles back ago, and has since gone on to establish herself in the first team. Small in stature even in terms of the other female players, Coultan relies on speed and agility to out-fox the opposition. Good on either foot, she is best known for her crisp, one touch passing and her goal scoring abilities. Last season she completed a $14 million move to Cosumarite club Crawford City, making her the second most expensive Schottic player ever in terms of transfer fees.
7. LM/F Chloe Rudden, 21 | Image North Laithland | Height:172cm Weight:60kg
The jet-healed winger is one of the nation’s top prospects, and no doubt has a big future in the senior team. The 21-year-old has played most of her career in the Women's Super-League, where she had a near 1 to 1 goal to game ratio in her last season with Handon Eagles. Rudden's move to North Laithland has been a big step in her career, but one that she has taken in her stride. As well as helping her side to fourth in the league, she picked up the young player of a year gong two years running in one of the world's top leagues. This, coupled with some fantastic performances for the U-21s, has seen Rudden thrust into the Schottia starting line up, where she started all three matches at the World Cup finals.
23. AMRLC Eoin Killanen, 23 | Image Kingsgrove | Height:176cm Weight:70kg
Now really coming of age, Schottia's DBC winning captain is one of the out and out stars of this Schottia squad. His performances at the World Cup in Quebec and Apox won him much admiration, and praise among the international community as he scored in each of Schottia's three group games. Now playing in The A League with Brenecian side Kingsgrove, the former Lammerton attacker is one of the competitions stand out players. Killanen is direct, with a keen eye for goal, and with the ability to play anywhere in attacking midfield, he gives the manager important options.
9. FC Heron Crew, 23 | Image Port Patrick | Height:186cm Weight: 76kg
Crew came out of nowhere to score 22 goals with newly promoted Port Patrick last season, helping his side to sixth in the league. He has never been capped for Schottia at any level, so it will be a huge responsibility for him, as it looks like he is about to be thrust into the starting line up for the Emperor's Cup. Crew is a fairly standard centre-forward in many ways, but what he does, he does exceptionally well.
Substitutes
12. GK Jeremy McNott, 24 | Image Cornellians | Height:191cm Weight:79kg
The latest in a long line of Di Bradini Cup winners to receive a call up. NcNott started his career at Handon United but was signed for Cornellians shortly after the side's inception, where he spent the first MPL season on the bench. He has subsequently been a mainstay of the first team and earned an SPL winners' medal in the club's first season in the league.
14. CB/RB. Scott Burton, 24 | Image Cornellians Height:179cm Weight:70kg
Cornellians back playing football at a completive level is good for their fans, but it's also good news for Schottia. Former Lammerton City defender, now in fourth season with the club, recieved his first call up last year, and will be fighting with former DBC teammate Gareth Souter for a place. Burton is shorter and slighter built than most of the centre-backs in the current squad, but that never normally stands in his way.
15. CB/DM. Ben Ross, 22 Image Stvozhaboythuow | Height:188cm Weight:81kg
Ross has long been touted as one of the best young players to come out of the Schottic Youth Academy System. Having captained his country at under-15 and 21 level, he is a composed and highly professional leader on the pitch. The Stvozhaboythuow player is a good al round defender, who gives 100 percent whether he is played at centre-half, right-back, or central midfield. Now playing in one of the world's top leagues, Ross will be hoping to make the step up to the first team soon.
16. R/LB Jenna Koemann, 26 | Image Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies, | Height: 170cm. Weight: 68kg
Koemann became the third female player to win a cap for Schottia two cycles back. The 26-year-old, who plays in the Fleftic League is no stranger to international set-up. She featured for the Schottic Woman's side, which reached the quarter finals of the last Olympic games, and has been called up to the DBC squad. Koemann left MPL side Cornellians to join Ludogorets Markovsky four seasons ago, in a bid to get regular first team football.
17. LM Cerys Kennicot, 23 | Image New Port Patrick | Height:169cm Weight: 60kg
Like her teammate Crew, Kennicot has been called up on the back of Port Partick's unexpected success this season. It is true that the pair of them have linked well this season, and Jane Gullie will no doubt be hoping that they can work some of their magic on the international scene also. Kennicot is a keen crosser of the ball, but she also has a mean hit on her, and has cracked in a fair few from the edge of the box.
18. AMR Jonathan Bia, 20 | Image Port Sebastian | Height:170cm Weight:72kg
As a Schottic footballer, when your manager calls you the next Gaston Avelione, you know you're doing something right. The Dahamy born winger only received international clearance to play four years ago. Since then Joey (as he likes to be called) has put in some top class performances, in both the World Cup and Cup of Harmony. Bia has won two league titles with Port Sebastian, the first coming at the age of sixteen. He is a pacy player who normally gets amongst the goals, and often attempts audacious shots.
19. DM/LM Holly Addison, 23 | Image New Belfast Warriors | Height:174cm Weight:66kg
Addison arrived in Schottia with her boyfriend and young family two years ago fallowing Shalumite aggression in Arcadia. After lengthy attempts to get her into the Schottia set-up Jane Gullie was finally successful, and she feature sparingly during the last World Cup campaign. Now at The Warriors, she has made the impact most were expecting, providing real drive and quality in the midfield.
20. CM Thio Crillin, 25 | Image Myrmidon | Height: 188cm. Weight: 88kg
Crillin has gone from a back up player for his country, to someone who featured extensively at the last World Cup finals. Another DBC winner, he has won accolades for his performances with Cenian side Myrmidon, helping them to a Globe Cup spot. Thio Crillin is a big powerful, broad shouldered player, who can hold his own with almost anyone in the midfield.
21. CM Gary Corsie, 25 | Image Chatswood | Height:190cm Weight:80kg
On a good day Corsie is a box-to-box midfielder who combines stamina and graft, with subtlety, composure, and a keen eye for goal. On a bad day he is disinterested, lazy and a bomb scare in possession. Which Gary Corsie it is that turns up can be anyone’s guess. This inconsistency has meant periods out of the starting line-up for the big midfielder, however, for those mangers able to get the best out of him, he has been a powerful asset. Corsie recently completed an eight million move to Chatswood in Nephara after impressing during a loan period at his home town club of Marionville.
24. ACM Boris Hunt, 20 | Image Laketown Rangers | Height:193cm Weight:83kg
One of the rising stars of the Schottic game, even at nineteen Hunt already has the pace and power to match anyone in this current Schottic squad. Hunt is one of the big success stories in terms of youth development on the islands. Coming through the regional development programme at a young age, Hunt has scored goals at U-15, U-18, and U-21 level. He eventually got his big move to Laketown Rangers in Taeshan, where he has worked had to make an impact. One thing for certain, Boris Hunt will be a name, which the fans will be seeing on a Schottia strip for many years to come.
9. FC Mark Allen, 27 | Image FC Hill Valley | Height:191cm Weight: 81kg
It was a hard battle for the Hill Valley man to establish himself as one of the number one choicees in the coveted loan-striker role. The former Port Sebastian man was the Schottic League's top scorer before he departed for the Adiran club. If he is sometimes accused of being lazy and reluctant to chase back, he makes up for it with his strike capability, and vision in front of goal. He has been the preferred man up-front for three seasons now, but with a new manager coming in, this could all be subject to change.
27. FC John McCormack, 21 | Image Lammerton | Height:186cm Weight:79kg
He has had a great scoring rate with Lammerton over the last two seasons, and performed very well as Schottia reached the semi-final of the Di Bradini Cup two seasons ago. A fast, no-nonsense player, McCormack will be hoping to make his mark on the Schottic senior squad here in Flardania
South African Football Roster (January 2045)
Postby Nelson R Mandela » Wed Jan 06, 2016 4:41 pm
Image
South African National Football team
This roster will present the tactics, style, formation, national team crew of the South African National Football team as of January 2045 as well as brief tourist information of South Africa.
About South Africa
South Africa is a massive nation in the central-southern region of Africa stretching from former northern Democratic Republic of Congo to the southernmost tip of South Africa, including former Madagascar. The union of the 10 southern African nations occurred in 2038 after the European Imperialist Nations (EUN) forced a military coup of their former governments after their acknowledgement of the development of full-functioning governments in the central-southern African nations. The EUN was sequentially hauled out of the region by the South African Army as well as help from Eastern Powers and helped bring the region back to its feet. Because many central-southern African nations lacked a complete government and famine (malaria and ebola namely), poverty and crime were on the rise the People as a region called for a desperate union to stabilize conditions, and so President William Crusan of South Africa officially declared Namibia, Mozambique, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Swaziland, Zambia, Madagascar, as well as South Africa to join hands under the Unified banner of the Revolutionary Republic.
Weather in South Africa ranges between 60°F (15.5°C) and 100°F (37°C) on average annually, making weather very pleasant for all sorts of outdoor activity. South Africa has 2 seasons all year as well; from January until June is usually the rainy season, then from July to December is the dry season. Surely, during the world cup cycle, it will be the dry season, meaning home games will most likely have a mixture of clear and overcast skies with moderate weather throughout the cycle. The southernmost region of South Africa occasionally gets snow precipitation.
South Africa is a very multi-ethnic nation and continues to be one of the must-see nations in the world. Ever since the big Unification in 2038 the South African tourism industry nearly quintupled profits compared to tourism before 2038. From dense jungles, vast deserts, and patriotic landmarks throughout South Africa the Revolutionary Republic has been a trend to thousands of tourists around the world. With various must-see football venues located at all over the country, a Tour d'Afrique destination located in Johannesburg, and much more it would be unusual to not pay a visit to South Africa.
The primary sports news source will be Sport34. Live coverage, match statistics, highlights, polls, player transfers, and much more can be found via sport34.
About the South African team
Many players on the National Football team have been recognized from the Al Baraka Premier League and others have been noticed of their talents in football.
Even though the national team is mixed with players from the top 3 clubs and the rivalry that has developed between the clubs players on the team play as South Africans instead of their individual clubs. As a team the players strive to master communication and efficiency on the field and give it their all. The South African team tends to be a very dynamic and attacking team. The midfielders' roles in the South African team is to support the attackers frequently and basically take control of their territory as much as possible. The team emphasizes on avoiding long passes and shots to avoid early fatigue during matches, which makes efficiency pretty much the team's primary objective. Shorter but smarter passes and shots are key.
Hello everyone and thank you for buying the daily edition of the Leinz Herald. Normally, this space would be about the senior association football squads escapades in New Gelderland during the 23rd Copa Rushmori. However, there is an interesting tournament being held simultaneously: the 2nd edition of the Emperor's Cup.
The Emperor's Cup is a relatively new cup that is organized by the nation known as Flardania (which also goes by the name Kirishima). Its original concept and edition was as a friendly cup for clubs from different nations in preparation for the UICA competitions. The cup doesn't have the pull of other friendly cups but it has gotten some large nations for this edition such as San Jose Guayabul, Dainer, 95X, Cosumar, Schottia and ourselves. The people of the host nation will be exposed to some of the most talented current players in the multiverse. However, they will be exposed to the most talented Zenicians of the future for this edition.
Since the timing of the Emperor's Cup conflicts with the Copa Rushmori, the ZFAF has decided to instead send the U21 national team, which recently came up just short in penalties against Dainer in the 36th DBC. It is a talented squad with a few changes as Joshua Killian, Felipe Hernandez, Manuel Jose Ruiz, Evgany Plechistov, and Gregory Alan Rolfe III have joined Ljubo Jani on the senior national team. Despite being young, there is much expectation that this squad should be able to go far in this tournament after the display in the DBC. Of course, the players don't need any more motivation as they will use this tournament to further their case for a spot on the 27th ranked senior national team.
Fans will certainly be kept busy as they keep one eye on the senior squads battle against talented Eastfield Lodge in the Round of 16 in the Copa and the other eye on the first of three group stage matches against other senior squads that the U21 squad will undertake in Flardania(Kirishima). Right now is a great time for Zenic in sports and we here at the Leinz Herald sporting department will help you enjoy to the fullest. Until then, eat heartily, sleep well and play hard.
-- Xavier Magnusson
Xavier Magnusson is one of the oldest and most respected sports writers at the Leinz Herald. Having 32 years of award-winning journalism and experience covering both domestic and international association football competitions, it is only appropriate that he would be the one to cover the Empire’s first ever international tournament and all subsequent tournaments/events.
STADIUMS
All football stadiums in Abanhfleft now have seats following a mandatory upgrade in 2000, but despite this ruling, many, if not all, stadiums still allow standing spectators during matches. However, in anticipation for World Cup qualifying matches, more security forces had been hired by the authorities to make sure that there are no standing spectators in such games.
Image
Official name: May 26 Revolution Memorial Stadium
Capacity: est. 67,000
Record attendance: 72,308 (Riuwiee United vs. Wanda Island Wanderers; June 3, 2009)
Operator: Riuwiee United FC
Short history: The May 26 Stadium, originally known as Raschner Lane, and later on as Riuwiee National Stadium, was built in 1886 as a cricket ground, and it served as home for two semi-pro cricket teams before it was bought by the Riuwiee Capitals football team, which will later on become Riuwiee United. After the conclusion of the Catholic Revolution of 2008, the national government bought the controlling share of Riuwiee National Stadium and renamed it the May 26 Revolution Memorial Stadium, in commemoration of the May 26 Revolution that eventually established the nation of Abanhfleft. Riuwiee United still play in the May 26 Stadium, but now it is also the chosen stadium for home games by the Fleftic national football team.
Image
Official name: State of Wanda Island Arena
Capacity: est. 54,000
Record attendance: 59,674 (Wanda Island Wanderers vs. Malabon SC; November 15, 2012)
Operator: Wanda Island Wanderers FC
Short history: The State of Wanda Island demolished the old Wanda Island Arena in 1998 to make way for a new and improved football stadium that follows international standards. Construction began in 1999, and finished just in time for the beginning of the 2001 Premier League season. The Wanderers played in a nearby high school athletic field for the duration of the arena's construction. In 2010, when IKEA entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Wanderers, the arena was consequently called IKEA Arena for sponsorship reasons. This agreement is expected to continue until 2020, after both sides came to a six-year contract extension.
Image
Official name: Monsanto Stadium
Capacity: est. 50,000
Record attendance: 56,555 (Arsenal de Releinthi vs. Admiral Porcusces; January 7, 2013)
Operator: FC Arsenal de Releinthi
Short history: Arsenal de Releinthi mooted moving to a new stadium ever since 1993, but it was only in 2002 that the club managed to get permission to begin construction on the site of a former landfill after disputes with the city council and land planning office. Even then, it was only after Monsanto agreed to shoulder the cost of the new stadium that it was even built, and because of this, the stadium was named Monsanto Stadium. Arsenal de Releinthi and Monsanto entered into a seven-year contract extension this year, potentially extending Monsanto's sponsorship of the club up to 2021.
Image
Polkopian National Football Team
"The Slashers/Snovski"
Image
The Polkopian Football Association is a relatively new organization which serves as the governing body for the Polkopian Premier League, as well as the Polkopian National Team itself. The National Team was formally under government control, where the Polkopian government had overseen all duties that were associated with creating and maintaining a National Team. Despite hard measures taken by the Polkopian government, the Polkopian National Team had very little success internationally, and thus, failing to ignite passion for the sport.
After the Polkopian Football Association, or PFA, was established, the team was completely restructured, though coaching and managerial staff remained the same. A domestic league was established in order for the Polkopian players to gain experience against players from other nations, as well as their own. Furthermore, new youth academies were set up in order to assure that the Polkopian youth could gain experience with the hope of one day representing their nation on an international stage.
With the senior NT tied up in the AOCAF at the moment, the FSF will use the Emperor's Cup as an opportunity to test its up-and-coming young players...
Cosumar U23 National Team - Emperor's Cup II
Image
Team Information
Nation: The Fiefdom of Cosumar
Government: Cosumar is a Fiefdom, comprised of 21 provincial fiefs. Cosumar is a constitutional monarchy with King James II as its head. The tenets of complete civil rights, protecting nature, advancing knowledge, and exploring outer space are held dear.
Region: Atlantian Oceania
Nicknames: Dragons (Officially "Azure Dragons"), Vanquishers
Colors: Royal Blue, Silver, Navy, White
Stadium: The Royal Palace (capacity 54,000) in Ramusok
Team: The roster consists of 25 players, 23 of whom are standard human (homo sapiens). The other two, both starters, are Vloo (homo cosumarensis), a sentient species native to Cosumar. Vloo are humanoid and approximately two inches taller on average, and they must wear different cleats due to their unique foot structure. The range of athleticism in Vloo is similar to that of humans, but they have blue skin and two small horns on the top of their head. Many Vloo's horns are covered by their thick, black hair. You can recognize which players are Vloo by their surnames: which usually begin with the prefixes Na'- or Va'-. In the image of Gethin Ramsey's senior side that recently went to the World Cup Quarterfinals, Johannes Sulo's squad plays a balanced game, using high pressure to force mistakes and capitalizing on them with quick, up-tempo passing. This generation of young Cosumarite talent includes players already featuring in leagues around the world including Kernansquillec, Valanora and Sunrise Islands in addition to our own.
Donning the uniform of the senior National Team is a prestigious honor (one that must be earned), so our youth teams do not use the same one. Our U23 and U21 teams wears the old NT kits that were used in World Cup 70 and decommissioned prior to World Cup 71. Courtesy of Meski Sports. The home (left) and away (middle) kits feature the colours of the Cosumarite flag as well as the iconic Azure Dragon that resides in Cosumar's northeastern forests. The goalkeeper kit (right) is swathed in green and gold - the colours of the royal family.
As much as the Daineri wish they could just prescind of violence entirely, they knew they needed some way to deal with people who weren't down with that - essentially, in order to protect innocent people from violence and not require everyone to be on guard to defend themselves, a group of people within society would be given the permission to use violence in a controlled, sanctioned way to stop its uncontrolled use; the idea behind what is commonly called a police force.
Why do police forces go bad? Well, the primary reason is that a police force takes orders from people in power, which tends to reinforce inequality by giving people who already have power the ability to direct sanctioned violence towards people they don't like.
The secondary reason is how they're designed to work. Police officers are (in part because of the primary reason, and in part because of tradition) recruited and trained to be soldiers or thugs. Soldiers are good for two things: being unaweringly loyal and destroying enemies. Soldier-police recruiting processes favors people who will tend to treat non-police as interlopers and escalate conflicts. Thug-police will look for and favor bullies and jerks; people who are eager to abuse power and beat down on those who already rely on them to defend themselves.
We wanted to move away from such models and try to start our police with a less problematic model, instead of patching it up later. There was the super-polite, unobtrusive style, but politeness was never a Daineri virtue. What model could they possibly draw on to make our ideal police force work?
And then the big idea showed itself.
Superheroes.
It was crazy, but the more it was thought upon, the more it made sense (mind you, the Daineri are people who thought it made sense to replant an entire rainforest, and were crazy enough to make it work). Everyone cheers for firefighters, and they're often referred to as real-life superheroes. These are people who don't act like an army or a mob, and selflessly risk themselves fighting any odds for the sake of others. The realities of police were quite different, but at least in attitude, they knew they wanted to strive for that level. Daineri police wants the wide-eyed idealists; they want people with compassion and a drive to right wrongs. They give these people training, purpose and equipment, and forges them into a force worth cheering on when they pass by the street.
The Capital Stadium, as it is known by locals, is a mediocre stadium built for its lack of spectacle. It was designed with the feel of a high school soccer match in mind, and it does that well. The fans will be hectic as always, so expect rowdy crowds and a lot of yelling.
Postby Schottia » Mon Jan 11, 2016 2:51 pm
When the SFA had asked Jane Gullie how she felt about taking part in the Emperor's Cup, it hadn't taken her very long to give them an affirmative answer. In her mind there was only so much you could learn from a one-off friendly, and it would do the players good to address the challenges surrounding group qualification. There was also little doubt that the trip would do the players some good. After a long hard domestic season in their respective countries the change could be as good as a rest, and with Schottia's regional tournament taking place out with the normal world cup cycles, it meant the players would not miss out on the time to train together. Perhaps this had been something that the side had lacked over the last couple of World Cup qualifying campaigns; maybe the sides from the three main regions had that extra percentage or two in match sharpness having played more as a unit.
She had been sorely tempted to bring a more or less untested squad to put through their paces, but had changed her mind almost hours before the list was set to be announced. It was great to blood some of the young players coming though, and give them a couple of caps to their name. However, what would it really tell her? If the team went out there and put in three fairly substandard performances, well yeah, the kids would have had an experiences, but it wouldn't have necessarily given her much to go on ahead of the qualifiers. In the end she had only included four uncapped players in the squad of 23. It was enough, and she would be able to see how they handled themselves slotted in amongst some of the more seasoned pros. At the last minute the Ünterhausen twins, Bella Thompson, Lucy Curren, Caity L'Attue and Glen Stephens had all been rubbed out and some of the traditional senior players had been brought it.
Two of the surprise inclusions were Port Patrick pairing Heron Crew and Cerys Kennicot, who only twelve months ago were still playing in the second tier of Schottic football. Promotion and a whirlwind debut top-flight season, had seen them go from a pair of nobodies, uncapped at any level, to two of the hottest properties in the country. As was often the case, a steep climb could be hardest to process, and both were duly out of sorts.
'How are you felling about playing for your country?' Heron asked, out of the blue following a long period of silence. He had spent the first hour of the flight to Flardania with a book on his lap, but he hadn't read word. He and Cerys had naturally migrated together, probably experiencing the mutual feeling of being first timers.
She turned back from the window and nodded, thinking for a few seconds. 'I'm okay with it... I think.' She pause for a second and bit her bottom lip. 'I'm kind of guessing that I won't be playing much anyway. Maybe come off the bench, but it's exciting.' She nodded vigorously, almost trying to convince herself. Definitely, definitely exciting.'
'Yeah, definitely exciting.' Heron agreed, smiled, and quickly returned to not reading his book, while Cerys returned to her window gazing.
'Only...' He added finally, turning back to her. 'It is a fair bit of pressure.'
Cerys swivelled in her seat. 'Aye.' She said with grin, which quickly vanished. 'But no worse than playing some of the top teams in the Schottic Premier League last season, and we managed that fine, huh?'
'I guess.' He answered, turning back to his book once again. For a big strong guy, Heron had often lacked a little self-belief. It was a lot of the reason he had switched from tennis to football in the first place, as he found he lacked that real killer edge in the one on one situations.
Like most Schottians he had a second sport, as was the requirements of the school system, so it had been something to fall back on. Many people in Schottia were pretty competent at both their disciplines, and since they chose them at a young age, there was often no rhyme or rhythm to the choices. There were even a few rare occurrences where talented individuals had reached excellence in both, and one or two Schottians had been capped in more than one discipline. Obviously sports weren’t everyone's cup of tea, so it was also possible to pick up an instrument or a creative craft. Cerys for example was a pretty good violinist.
'And don't worry too much okay?' It was Cerys' turn to interject. 'Just, well, I was going to say play your normal game, but that's an easy line to come out with.' She gave him a firm friendly pat on the shoulder. 'I think once we get there and start training with some of the more experience players, things will be way easier.'
'You think so?' Heron asked hopefully.
'I know so.' Cerys replied. 'Now get back to pretending to read your book.'
"Gramps can't hold the excitement, now, can he?" asked a tall, dark-haired boy to his shorter but wiser father. The boy was showing some annoyance out of the newest trip plans from his grandfather. In all true, the young man hated the idea of travelling to whatever place his grandfather suggested because that usually meant some none too pleasing situations. "I swear he's just coming out with excuses to travel nowadays!" said him, briefly looking at the screen of his cellphone between words.
"Now, Isaac." said the father, overlooking a map. "It's an once per a lifetime chance! You'll get to see the national team play! God knows when they'll decide to send the national team again." The father then took a small picture from under the map and handed to his son. Said picture featured a group of football players posing out. "Plus, watching the national team reminds your grandfather of the days he used to play as a pro at Huelandia."
Isaac sneered. "So what? Just 'cause he wants to remember his old days, we have to go to? Fan-goddamn-tastic! Plus, I'm the only one in this place that speaks French. Y'know what they talk at that one place they're playing at? FRENCH."
The father, still sitting on a chair with the map open, laughed a bit. "And that's pretty much why you're coming. Your grandfather is at the car repair place just down the road, go ask him if we're actually taking his old Komodo 65' to Flardania, because we'll probably have to get some additional paperwork for that." Isaac simply dropped his shoulders, defeated. "...Fine, pops." After a brief walk, Isaac finally reached his destination, finding his grandfather sitting at a comfy sofa, checking a couple of workers trying their hand at the car. The boy stood up on his grandfather's front, arms crossed. "You do know that you're supposed to get a new one after it has 50 years of use, right?" His grandfather got up and then gave Isaac a hug. "Ah, so you're here, Isaac! Good day!" Isaac always was welcomed with hugs from his family members, though he couldn't really tell why. He was mostly neutral to things, if not just doing hell all to avoid them, yet for some reason they'd always be pretty welcoming. "Good day to you too, gramps. So, pops sent me down from home to ask how things are on the car, but considering the amount of people working on it, I think it's time you give up on that thing." The old man laughed hard. "Please, Isaac! This Komodo 65' was your great-grandfather gift for me when your grandma and me reached our 10 year wedding anniversary! I'm not letting this kind of thing just be thrown away!"
The boy shook his head. "We can fossilize it if you want, gramps. But it ain't taking us nowhere, that's all."
"I wouldn't say so, cousin Isaac." The calm voice came from a slim, red-haired girl on overalls. She was all messy from working with the old vehicle the entire day, but it seemed like she had finished working on it. "Grampa Jô, you can safely say this car's still walking." she smiled, shaking the right hand of the old man. "'Course having someone like the greatest mechanic in the entire town of Madureira does that to people, if ya catch my drift." A smile could be seen on Jô. "I thank you, Amanda. Your efforts once again kept my old baby alive." She nodded, taking the old man around the car to show what she had done. Isaac, on the other hand, was once again checking his cellphone.
!$@@( Your niece is really annoying, mom.
Mom ...This again, Isaac?
!$@@( Well, of course. She decided to fix that murder machine again!
Mom You mean your grandfather's old car, I take.
!$@@( YEAH! And then she starts bragging about it! You polished some old car, congratulations! Jeez.
Mom Well, she did come from Huelandia. You should've expected her to be like that.
!$@@( Learning with the Queen of Bragging also known as Isadora, I can totally see why.
Mom Oh, please. You know I -am- that good of a vet.
!$@@( *sigh* You're coming with us, right?
Mom I can't make guarantees. You know I have many important animals to take care of. Specially those Pokémon from Sunrise Islands that came for a tournament show thing.
Mom Anyhow, I have to go. Take care of your father for me, Isaac.
!$@@( Fine. If you so insist.
"...And that's all I fixed. I think it'll run as good as new. Back in the old days." said Amanda. "As payment, I'm inviting you to come with us to Flardania." said the old man, still with a long smile on his face. She stared at him briefly, before shrugging and then yelling to Isaac. "You heard the old man, we're travelin' together, frown face!"
!$@@( Your niece is really annoying, mom.
Pre-Matchday
International Football ||Cycling || Golf || Tennis || Track and Field || Premier League
Pre-Matchday
AKIHABARA - The South African National Football team is hoping to make their names known in international football via Aincrad Stadium in Akihabara. The last time South Africa participated in any international football event was 2042, and that was the 2042 World Cup Australia.
Ever since the Great Union in 2038 of 10 central-southern African nations joining the South African Union it took several years for the new Union to readjust to the new conditions, resources and jobs to manage. The government found itself to have an abundant amount of valuable resources to trade and export, such as cobalt, copper, niobium, tantalum, petroleum, industrial and gem diamonds, gold, silver, zinc, manganese, tin, uranium, coal, hydropower, timber, and much more. Because of the natural resources present the Union focused on getting remote areas up to their feet and running to skyrocket the new economy. By 2043 the South African Union's annual GDP was $12.433 trillion (nominal) and $20.322 (purchasing power parity). After ensuring that remote areas in were in progress of developing, caring for famine and employing the unemployed, the government began to spend millions on the Union's sports, Space Administration, education, and general public works, enough to manage and develop the northern and remote areas of the nation. From there sports venues, ranging from football to track and field to golf, started to become ubiquitous. The new South African Premier League, the Al Baraka Premier League (named after the biggest and most successful bank in the nation) was established. It is from there professional football started to prevail in South Africa once again.
Professional football has never been as fiercely competitive and intense as it is today in 2045. Given that football is the primary and most prevalent sport in all of central-southern Africa there are literally millions of skilled and talented women and men football players ready to be recognized. In June 2044 South African National Football Federation (SANFF) President Ayodele Coelho announced that the SANFF will begin establishing smaller football organizations from elementary schools to pre-college schools in order to establish a system to be able to notice the skilled and talented in football. By this Coelho predicted by spring 2046 the SANFF will have at least 500,000 formally recognized and active players from elementary school to pre-college school in the whole nation. Many will already be on the professional stage by then; some will be on the international stage.
Every player in the team is known for being a unique asset to the team. Like #9 Léo Bemelmans for instance; he is known for his quick passes and one-touch goals. And #20 Bruno Klose, known for his quick movements to defend Leandro Peter at all costs. Not excluding the fact that he could commit a foul while doing so. South Africa will be challenging the Schottia, Mareibat, and Fairview Islands. It is said that teams will travel in one of the most luxurious and unique football busses known in football commerce.
Those in the national football team are sought with a tremendous amount of respect back home. They are sought to complete a mission every South African footballer dreams of: to lead the nation through the international stage. Everytime there is a football game, big or small, the South African treats it as if it were a World Cup match. Social media is in abuzz of the SANF back onto the international stage, and many predict Aincrad Stadium to be the ideal place for South Africa to recollect itself from the ground and get back into the race.
Don't hesitate to telegram me any questions.
Sports special
Schottia 3-1 Mareibat - Emperor's Cup II
Goals: 19" Rudden, 41" Crew, 79" Corsie-Schottia | 73" Mareibatan Striker-Mareibat
Line-up: Gonzaö 7, Watt 7, Koemann 7, Souter 8, Hanlon (c) 7, Stewart 7 (57-Corsie 7), Seggerson 7, Coultan 9, Rudden 7 (45-Kennicot 7), Killanen 8, Crew 8 (45-McCormack 6)
Woman of the match: Kim Coultan.
It was, more or less, the comfortable winthat Jane Gullie had hoped for as Schottia opened against Mareibat, a side who have the potential to be tricky opponents. There were no real problems for the side from Tyran, and first half goals from Chloe Rudden and debutant Heron Crew helped to steady the ship. Four of Gullie's new recruits took to the field at some point in the proceedings and it will have undoubtedly been a valuable exercise for the players and management team, ahead some difficult games to come.
For most of these players it was the first time they had pulled on the White and Green since the Olympics in Electrum, and their first co-ed international since the World Cup. This meant Eoin Killanen was reunited with his attacking midfield partners in crime, Chloe Rudden, and Kim Coultan, the formation, which served the side well in the closing stages of the World Cup qualifiers a year ago. Marionville midfielder Barry Stewart breezed through the opening half in his first game in a Schottia jersey much in the same way he has done for his club all season, breaking up the opposition attack, then finding a constructive ball forward.
Schottia's breakthrough came after nineteen minutes, when Alfred Seggerson, despite having options to his left and right, opted to go long down the middle. The Schottians are not normally blessed with the with the tallest forward line in the mulitverse, but with Heron Crew in the starting line-up this suddenly became a viable option. The Port Patrick striker managed to stand tall despite the strong challenge, and nodded the ball into the path of Rudden who made a break down the left flank. The North Laithaland winger has the kind of pace that can leave defenders for dead, and she quickly found herself in a one-on-one situation with only the keeper to beat. True to form the 21-year-old thumped the ball low and hard, leaving the keeper with no chance, and finding the far corner of the net.
Schottia used the momentum from the goal to press on, as the lead helped to settle some of the early nerves. Gullie's boys and girls had several opportunities to increase their lead as the half drew on, with the best chances falling to Kingsgrove attacker Eoin Killanen. The 23-year-old first headed over on 31 minutes, as Gareth Souter flicked a Larry Watt corner into his path. Not known for his aerial exploits, he was unable to really get over the ball and it drifted harmlessly out for a goal kick. The second chance came from a cleverly disguised Kim Coultan through ball, which left Killanen in space at the edge of the 6-yard-box, but his snap shot riffled just wide of the near post.
Schottia didn't have it all their own way, and Mareibat's best chance came from a well taken freekick, which Chris Gonzaö had to be on his toes to tip wide. It will have been a relief for the Port Sebastian keeper to get a good touch so early on in what is one of his first starts for the team.
Schottia's second goal fell to target man Crew, and again it was a return to a more direct style of football that yielded the result. Bounding away from her marker, Coultan switched wings and chipped a cross-field ball into the path of rampaging left-back Jenna Koemann. The Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies star then cut inside the opposing right-back, and angled her ball between the two centre-backs, to where the eagerly waiting Crew could slot home form near the penalty spot.
With that the first half was done and dusted, and in the spirit of experimentation, Gullie made a double change during the interval. Goal scorers Crew and Rudden came off - job done - and on came two more young players to make their debuts. Crew's Port Patrick teammate Cerys Kennicot slotted in on the left side of midfield, and Lammerton's John McCormack made his eagerly awaited first appearance in the loan striker role.
For both players, chances were limited compared to the opening forty-five, and there was a sense that Mareibat were getting wise to the Schottic attack. Despite diminished possession, the Mareibatan keeper was forced into a save seventy minutes in, as a well taken Seggerson freekick was headed to the left of the keeper, with Darren Hanlon jumping highest at the near post.
If Schottia had been in their comfort zone up until now, then they were about to get a rude awakening, as their opponents from Esportiva pulled one back. In what was a well worked move down the right, Schottia were pulled out of position, and with Koemann forward and unable to cover, a Maribatan winger managed to whip the ball across the face of Gonzaö's goal for his teammate to direct into the back of the net.
Schottia needed to find a third goal to get them over the finish line, but at that moment it was hard to see exactly from where it might come. Luckily they found the inspiration they needed in the form of substitute Gary Corsie who popped up out of nowhere to slam in a loose ball from the edge of the D. It was a timely intervention from the Chatswood man, and one, which meant that the last ten minutes played out far more comfortably that they might have done otherwise.
Next up for the Auks are South Africa who had an equally impressive 3-1 win over the Fairview Islands. A win in this game would no doubt go a long way towards deciding the eventual group winners, and Jane Gullie will certainly be going all out for the win.
