Welcome to Edwardton, Barunia, for a celebration of the fantastic sport of field hockey. For the first time in Barunia's history, the nation has a chance to share it's love of hockey with the world at home. Where better to do it too, then Edwardton, a city that has produced some of the finest teams and players this country has ever seen.

This thread is where you will post your rosters and role-plays, and where I will post the scores after each cut-off. If you are new to NS Sports, I recommend having a look at the Guide to Sports Roleplaying. For those new to the sport of field hockey, you might want to take a look at this or this.

If you have any OOC questions relating to the tournament itself, please post them in the sign-up/discussion thread.

Player and Spectator Information

Basic National Information
Barunia is a federal democracy consisting of several large islands and one chain of smaller islands in the southern ocean. Barunia is divided into four states and one territory. The nation's capital and largest city, Porthaven, is located on the east coast of the southern most island (Barunia island). The rest of the Barunia island forms the state of West Barunia. North of Barunia Island is Tildos, both an island and a state, and north of that is the island chain of North Islands, which forms the nation's sole federal territory. West of both Barunia and Tildos islands is Marion island. This island is its own state, and is dominated by the large, dormant volcano that rises out of its heart. The state capital is Edwardton, situated on Edward Bay on the northeast coast.

Barunia's national currency is the Tilda. 1 Tilda = 0.80 NSD

Transport
While huge steps have been made to make Barunia more accessible to international air travel than it was just ten years ago, there is still no international airport on Marion. The best option for travel to Edwardton is to fly to Tildos International Airport and take a train or bus to the city of Whitefeather. From there, a high speed ferry leaves every hour directly for Edwardton.

If you wish, you can drive to Whitefeather, but you will still need to travel via ferry to get to Edwardton.

Barunia has a world-class public transport system, and services are efficient, clean and safe. Bear in mind that Memorial station is the only stadium directly next to a train station, and other stadiums may require either walking or an additional bus. While locals are not required to pay for public transport, visitors will need to purchase tickets. As buses do not carry cash it is advised to pre-purchase a smart travel card direct from the Public Transport Authority. This can be used for payment on any public transport service across Barunia.

Language
Almost all Barunians are literate, and can speak the country's official language of English. Spanish is also widely understood, especially in Tildos and the North Islands, and is often seen as a national language. Visitors to Edwardton are likely to encounter both these languages as well as Maalvian, an Eastern European language related to Ukrainian.

Weather
The tournament will be held in Barunia's summer, and as such the weather will be warm. Temperatures in Edwardton over this period reach highs of between 21 and 28 degrees Celcius, with the potential for a day or two in the low 30s. Rain is uncommon during summer.

Venues

Memorial Stadium
Nicknamed the "Birdcage", this stadium is the heart of football in Marion. Home to the state's two most successful football teams in the Marion Hawks and Edwardton Eagles, the Birdcage is also one of the largest stadiums in the nation, with 89,500 seats and room for 106,000 in total. For this tournament, the artificial turf has been rolled out over trays on the top of the grass pitch, and the stadium is now ready for hockey.

Will host: Quarterfinals, Final

Cotts Road (Eels City Stadium)
Cotts Road was once the training grounds of the Eels. However, when it was decided to build a new mammoth stadium to draw in a new generation of fans, Cotts Road was deemed the perfect site. Already beloved by Eels fans, the site now boasts a world class stadium that features 81,000 seats, a retractable roof, and a slide-in pitch.

Will host: Group A, Semifinals

EEG College Hockey Grounds Field 1
East Edwardton Girls School is famed for its hockey program, with alumni including current Barunian captain Tiffany Grouch. The hockey tradition is carried on by the school's tertiary college in the University Premier League. That team play their home games on Field 1, the only artificial turf field on the Hockey Grounds. The stadium surrounding the pitch can hold 18,000 spectators.

Will host: Group D, Group E

Edwardton Hockey Stadium
Once home to the Eels, this stadium is was sold to the Edward Bay Breakers when the Eels moved to Cott's Road. While the Eels might have outgrown it, Edwardton Hockey Stadium is not exactly small, with a capacity of 38,000. It's also the oldest ground for hockey in the city, and is considered sacred ground by some exponents of the game.

Will Host: Group C, Quarterfinals

Phoenix Park
Phoenix Park is about 40 kilometres outside the city centre, and is home to Marion Phoenix. Founded as a team for all Marion, not just Edwardton, they have built a moderate and loyal fanbase over their short life, and can often fill Phoenix Park to its 22,000 capacity. This is probably the most difficult ground to get to by public transport, and it is recommended that teams and supporters drive, although buses are available.

Will Host: Group B, Group F

Mattijana has single sex international teams in order to be suited to Olympic formats. The women's team is currently the stronger of the two Mattijanan teams having finished an agonising 4th in the Olympics and are submitted to the champions cup.
Sophia Illicič is undoubtably one to watch following a goal-packed olympic campaign and is well prepared to do more damage with agile approach play and cool finishing. Katarina Zafarova also had a brilliant tournament and established herself as an excellant leader and set piece specialist-her 5 goals all coming from penalty corners.

Sports continue to become more standardized within The Colony to further allow participation in all the different sports that take place on the international scale. With the success that has come from other games the effort has been considered well worth the time put into it to test it all out. While it will still take a long time before Ferret Civilization Ferrets have their name out there, it too is becoming more of a thing within The Colony, taking on more and more stuff to help out with the effort. Another sport will now be added to the event list of different sports to look out for with Ferrets, while other teams are better and more prepared at this, every team had a beginning, and just like the others it is going to be interesting to see if this group of nobodies can make something of themselves.

Eastfield Lodge Roster for Celebration of Field Hockey

Field Hockey in Eastfield Lodge:
Field hockey is one of the more popular team sports in the Imperial Commonwealth, drawing similar participation numbers to cricket, and behind football and beach football. Up until recently, there were many teams but not much in the way of an organized league, but that changed a couple of years ago when the ICEL Hockey Federation was given more funding, in advance of the Summer Olympics in Terranea. They made the move to create a formal league system from the top sides in the country, most of which are semi-professional but with a smattering of good amateur sides as well.

About Liantu: The rejistanian name Liantu refers to field hockey and is based on a name of a traditional sport. Rejistanis are going to use that name liberally because the minority which speaks an English-based Creole, the Kireshi, uses it as well and as such, Rejistanis are certain the term has become an English term.

The team lineup of the Liantu Orange-Whites:

New Gelderland Rosters for the Celebration of Field Hockey
New Gelderland is the holder of both the men's and women's titles in field hockey at the Games of the X Olympiad, held at the Talos Riverbank Arena in Nassau Bay, New Gelderland. While the federation was unsuccessful in its bid for this field hockey tournament, New Gelderland hopes to further demonstrate its prowess in field hockey. Field hockey is widely regarded within New Gelderland as the second national sport, behind association football, of course.

New Gelderland's field hockey teams are both significantly more aggressive than the corresponding association football teams, for no reason in particular. Manager Fiona Wakefield, for the women, emphasizes smart play and handling of the ball, while manager Hal Francis on the men's side hopes his players will make, and take, all the opportunities they get. As such, both teams are fairly aggressive and quick to move on every mistake of the opposition.

Please note that the players (with the exception of the goalkeepers) generally know most of the positions and move around the field quite often. Therefore it is not uncommon to see a striker on the defense and a defender trying to score. While the players specialize in the positions listed, they are competent in the other positions and switch at will to fit the tactics at hand.

Barunian National Hockey Team

For the first time ever, the Barunian National Hockey Team will play a major tournament on home soil. It is a huge moment for the hockey-mad country, and selecting the 23 players who would form the squad was a tough challenge. With the olympics just passed, being in that squad turned out to be a pre-requisite for this team. After all, the men finished fourth and all the women here are bronze medallists (five of them - Grouch, the Doyle twins, Masterton, and Windfield - have gold medals from Orean as well). Nine of the starting eleven had their places confirmed before a shortlist was even compiled. They include "the great wall of Barunia" Tiffany Grouch, the identical Doyle twins Roberta and Stephanie, olympic men's captain Orlando Vardos and Sara Jones, who led the Newland Bulls to win the league premiership.

There are some surprises - Patrick Helm impressed and will take the second keeper's spot, with olympic men's starter Watts relegated to the reserve. Drag-flick specialist Felicity Sharman also won't appear, retiring from international competition. That leaves the Moons without a specialist set-piece scorer for the first time in the team's history.

Memorial Stadium had been chosen as the site for the opening ceremony. Perhaps such a tournament did not warrant an opening ceremony, but this was being billed as a celebration of Field Hockey, and what is a celebration without a party?

This party started, as good parties do, with coloured lights and music. The stadium was dark but for four spotlights that illuminated a single chair, and a cellist playing a soft, haunting melody. As she builds the music up, faster and more striking, she is joined by a violinist. Then the lights come up on a full stage, to reveal Barunian symphonic rock group Thousand Suns as they launch into their big hit, Champion. before following it up with Revitalise. The band had been chosen as they perfectly fit the night's theme, that of the melding of opposites into a stronger whole. The theme was carried up by the dancers who came into the stadium, blending spanish and eastern european styles of dress as they broke into a traditional flamenco, then a reel, and then a modern dance. During this last part, large white inflatable balls, representing hockey balls, were introduced into the stadium and passed over the heads of the dancers while performers on stilts tried to hit them into goals with oversized hockey sticks. All the while the band played on.

Eventually, the song finished, and the dancers and stilted figures stopped as a blue light appeared at the end of the stadium. Ribbons of cloth, representing water, were rushed into the stadium by other performers, chasing the dancers and stilt performers out. The stage with the band also retreated to the far end of the stadium, where the band left. The ribbons occupied the centre of the stadium, but not the edges, representing another opposite, that of land and sea.

Between the ribbons came a boat, which pulled up to the stage, and a woman got off. A slight cheer went up from the crowd as they recognised Nikky Harper, a former Barunian player and current coach of the national team. She took the microphone.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, you see before you representations of the sea and land, two opposites. But where they meet cities are built, like the one represented here by this stage. The place where we meet now is Edwardton, and it is to this city that we welcome diverse players, opposites from across the globe, to meet and join in one celebration. To help us celebrate hockey in this country, please welcome to the arena representatives from each of the 126 domestic hockey clubs."

A cheer went up as 63 men and 63 women - representing the opposites of sex and the melding of them in the league - ran in to the stadium, each in their team's hockey kit. They formed a semi circle, surrounding the centre of the stadium. As they had run on, the ribbons had withdrawn, and the space was now clear. Harper called into the microphone, "Ladies and Gentlemen, please join us in welcoming the teams for the Champion's Cup and Celebration Cup!"

Each team came in behind their national flag, Barunia of course, being the last team out. They received the biggest cheer from the almost capacity crowd. Eventually, it settled down enough for the stadium announcer to say, "ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome to the stage the president of the Barunian Hockey Federation, Mr Nicholas Day."

There was a small cheer for him, most of the crowd just being polite. Day launched into his speech, which was fairly typical of these sorts of things, a long list of thankyou's and addresses. He did however, have one important thing to say. "It is now my privilege to declare this celebration of field hockey open. Let the party begin!"
As the crowd cheered, Thousand Suns returned to the stage. It seemed that tonight's party was only just beginning...

Postby Ferret Civilization » Wed Jan 06, 2016 4:43 pm

The team from Ferret Civilization had a simple first day, which they found pretty lucky to be able to take off and relax for a little while longer. The opening celebration was quite amazing for them, it would always be interesting to see how overboard the other nations seemed to go when it comes to sports and events. They enjoyed it a lot though, everything was indeed very interesting with everything put into just starting a sporting event. With a lot of other people around it was also quite interesting, everything was, that was no understatement. The way the opening ceremony was they looked forward to seeing how much was put into the rest of the sporting events or in the nation. Them being one of the last few teams set up and ready to go in a foreign nation, the excitement was still fresh for them too, since it was for everyone in the team they made up. All Ferrets think a like was the way that it had seemed to be going, especially went introduced to such a new place like this one.

With all that there was also the games themselves, which they did not have to play in this time. So instead they decided to watch how the others they would be against played their games. They hoped to at least learn something new about field hockey, or to learn how the other teams played their games. Which proved to be quite entertaining, other than that all that there was left to do was have a little fun and see what the nation they were in had to offer. Maybe include a little practice just playing around with not anything being serious, for now they could be like that. Watching how the others played it was figured that they would have to be as aggressive as possible just to possibly have a chance. And that would wear them out, and might risk one of them getting injured, though that risk was always there for them in this kind of game. This time they hopefully would have a better size advantage, speed was the only thing that they lacked, along with skill, but they hoped to learn and make up for that over time. For now they would do what Ferrets do best, just enjoy themselves and their fellow company.
Currently traveling across the United States. Still up for any conversations though.

The shadowy figure approached the hotel of the Rejistanian team in the middle of the night. It was wearing a black robe with a hood. The face was dark an in the sparse light, not a feature could be determined. As it stood in near a specific window, it took out a cellphone, and dialed a number. It spoke in a deep voice, haltingly, with a strange accent reminding of KaMaRi kali: "Should I... inform your wife... or... the tax office?"

K~hitisiau Haraikiministade was in bed when the phone rang. He made quick steps to handle the nuisance when the threat arrived through the line. He steadied himself for a moment. This is behind you, K~hitisiau! This is no longer your life! "I don't care. I have an open marriage with one and a payment plan with the other."

There was a silence. Then the shadowy figure spoke again: "I am... here. I have not forgotten... your betrayal."

K~hitisiau nodded, realized that the caller would not be able to see it and felt stupid, then spoke: "Good. That should teach you not to do it next time." He hung up the phone.

A stone crahed at the window. The phone rang again. K~hitisiau answered it. The voice of the shadowy figure spoke: "I was not... done!"

K~hitisiau went to his nightstand and looked for something while talking: "Oh, I am pretty sure you were. You just hadn't realized it. Now please do me a solid and get three things for me: A life, a clue and lost!"

"You should... listen to me. It is advantageous... to lose... the next match."

K~hitisiau didn't find it, cursed mentally, had to keep the voice on the line until he found it. "tinhu is an interesting word to use here. It would not be tinhu for the orange-whites. For your syndicate maybe, but for us? Where would the advantage be?"

"You know... where... it is... Do I need... to be... specific?" the shadowy voice had paused a moment.

There! He grabed the metal handle, removed the safety, pointed it to the window and activated it. A scream was heard through the phone line. The shadowy figure stood there, shocked and illuminated. K~hitisiau spoke smirkingly: "Your accent had been slipping the entire call, Sara!"

Saramika "Sara" Hakatusi, one of the figures behind the demise of K~hitisiau's previous club eventually could react, ran and hung up the phone.

The next day, the team meeting was terse. K~hitisiau explained what happened. Explaining Sara was more difficult. "Saramika... let's say that he a career criminal. Match fixer. I have left dealing with him behind me, but I admittedly did deal with him. Not my proudest moment, but with the wages not having been paid for 4 months and eviction being imminent... yeah. Not my proudest moment."

The I Riaei'he twins exchanged glances. Then Tae asked: "I thought the financial collapse of Jiiau was really sudden."

"It wasn't. We were told to lie and that it would all turn out well eventually, that wages would be paid back with interest. We stayed because we believed in the team. Then after 4 months, we could no longer continue and fell for that snake. It was a horrible match and it made us realize what we just did... Well, we went to the boss and demanded wages now or we'd leave... and that was the end of the team. Yeah, not the story the media receive but the actual one."

Other players from the previously existant Jiiau Junis team nodded.

Coach Xa looked at the former Jiiauians. "Can I be certain that none of you will do such a thing again?"

"Yes!" the voices exclaimed in unison. K~hitisiau exclaimed loudly: "I'd rather lose my legs, my arms, my eyes and my mind than work with that slani'he ever again!"

New Gelderland's men had enjoyed its run of success through the Olympics - first, a squeaky win 1-0 over regional rivals Fluvique, whom they had beaten to win their Baptism of Fire in association football; they again eked out a win in the group stage, this time 2-1 over San Jose Guayabal. They secured a huge win over Krytenia, 7-0, before winning over Lymantatia 5-3. They started the knockout stages with a blowout: a five-nil smashing of Britonisea before proceeding against Frenline Delpha 1-0. In the semifinals, they managed to defeat traditional powerhouses Barunia 2-1. Now they would be going to the final. They were heavily favored against challengers Alphatheta, who had managed to upset Gregoryisgodistan in the semifinals, but would take nothing for granted.

Game summaries - pool stage
New Gelderland 1-0 Fluvique
New Gelderland: Longstaff, Harris, Forrest, Chase, Broadbent, Roscoe, Spencer, Newport, Keikodi, Ryder, Horn
Fluvique: Paden, Lammert, Ethan, Gladwin, Kelley, Fraser, Denis, Damien, Sawyer, Cirino, Kiefer
Goals: Ryder 60'

Fluvique managed to hold the New Gelderlish attacking prowess at bay for a good portion of the match with midfield control, while New Gelderland stopped a good many of Fluvique's attacks with good defending and goalkeeper. However, they were on the defensive for a good portion of the first half. Not until the second half did they regain control of the ball and stated to attack again. Finally in the sixtieth minute Percy Ryder managed to get his stick on a pass before smashing it in past goalkeeper Paden. New Gelderland looked to pad their advantage but to no avail. Nonetheless they eked out the win after seventy hard minutes.

New Gelderland 2-1 San Jose Guayabal
New Gelderland: Longstaff, Harris, Forrest, Chase, Broadbent, Roscoe, Spencer, Newport, Keikodi, Ryder, Horn
San Jose Guayabal: None (Apparently national federation did not care enough to submit an official roster)
Goals: Ryder 23', Harris (o.g.) 50', Horn 65'

Percy Ryder managed to open the scoring in his second Olympic match of the Gelderlish campaign by simply marching past some bewildered-looking, nameless defenders and simply poking the ball into the goal without even a flinch from the nameless goalkeeper. Some did wonder, though, why it had taken New Gelderland this long to score with New Gelderland's good play and San Jose Guayabal's less than stellar play. They apparently regrouped and found their macho in the remainder of the first half and didn't play as badly, although they did suffer from a paucity of accuracy and a surfeit of wild shots. In the act of clearing one of those wild shots in the second half, Aidan Harris managed, somehow, to knock the ball into Kieran Longstaff's goal. This meant that New Gelderland had to scramble to create another goal before time ran out, and they did, just in the knick of time, when Ethan Horn received a wonderfully angled pass from Kai Keikodi to knock the ball into the goal. Phew - disaster averted.

New Gelderland 7-0 Krytenia
New Gelderland: Longstaff, Harris, Forrest, Chase, Broadbent, Roscoe, Spencer, Newport, Keikodi, Ryder, Horn
Krytenia: None (Apparently national federation did not care enough to submit an official roster)
Goals: Ryder 5', 17', 23', Keikodi 34', Newport 45', Horn 51', Roscoe 60'

New Gelderland had a field day here against a wildly overmatched Krytenian team who simply failed to offer much resistance altogether. Percy Ryder shot and scored in the fifth minute after nimbly out maneuvering the Krytenian defense; he scored again twelve minutes later after receiving an angled pass from Kai Keikodi, who had run out past several defenders. Then Ryder found an open path to the goal and shot for it, making it. Kai Keikodi himself managed to score in a one-on-one confrontation with the goalkeeper, just before the close of the first half. Alan Horn proved himself to be athletic, shooting into the right corner after a long run, right above the unnamed goalkeepers' outstretched arms. Ken Roscoe added the cherry on top with a lovely goal into the top of the net. Overall it showed New Gelderland's utter superiority on the pitch. Meanwhile Krytenia's offense got barely a shot on the goal, none that Longstaff didn't save.

New Gelderland 5-3 Lymantatia
New Gelderland: Longstaff, Harris, Forrest, Chase, Broadbent, Roscoe, Spencer, Newport, Keikodi, Ryder, Horn
Lymantatia: None (Apparently national federation did not care enough to submit an official roster)
Goals: Unknown 4', Unknown 12', Broadbent 21', Spencer 30', Unknown 35', Newport 44', Horn (pen) 56', 60'

Lymantatia proved to be a much tougher opponent than previous opponents but still apparently didn't bother to send a list of names of the team or put names on the back of goals. Nevertheless, they showed their toughness in the first half by taking shots past Kieran Longstaff when he was out of the goal, knocking them to the left and right, respectively. However, Longstaff managed to save a nice shot from the star striker before sending the ball down the pitch to Myles Broadbent, who easily took the ball past the startled Lymantatian defense. Brendan Spencer managed to catch a pass from Kai Keikodi and send the ball over the right shoulder of the Lymantatian goalkeeper. A Lymantatian player, unknown like the others, managed to send a powerful shot past Longstaff's outstretched arms right as the bell rang for the end of the half. Despite this early setback, New Gelderland dominated the second half, with Alan Newport finding the net in the 44th minute, as did Ethan Horn in the 60th, after scoring on a penalty after a dubious foul on Ken Roscoe. Notably absent from the scorers list was Percy Ryder, one of New Gelderland's top stars so far.

Wray will enter a mixed gender exhibition side, composed of some Olympic players and other promising young League players. Men and women play separately in Wray, with men playing in the summer, and women in the winter. After an abject performances by two talented sides at the Olympics, the WHF is looking for a decent comeback.

Liventia has traditionally been a strong field hockey nation, despite the sport maintaining relatively small stature in the country behind football, baseball and cricket. The country has hosted six world events, including two World Cups and four World Championships. Now the Field Hockey Federation of Liventia (FHFL) have named a 32-man squad, made up of a senior side of 16 and a development team of 16. Starters are listed in italics.

It was their first time to see how well they would do as a team and how well they could play the game. Nothing much more was really expected out of the group, try to win, but trying didn't have to be doing. They would prefer that but after watching the first games it looked like it was going to be hard no matter how hard they tried or attempted to use something to their advantage.

Ferret Civilization 1–6 New Gelderland

The first game they ended up playing in did indeed go rather poorly for the team, though one could say they at least tried. The aggressiveness at least got them to get one point. Though being more focused on aggression made their defense weaker, so once the other team had the ball they were able to pretty much able to do whatever they wanted with it, like score. Cai did have a harder time too, even with the help of the little defense he had. Though they were going up against very great teams that already had experience, and they had a lot to learn. Luckily, even if they didn't make it far, they had a few more games to learn from. Hopefully no one would get hurt during that time, they were pushing themselves in a situation that was more likely to end up resulting in an injury.

Game summaries - knockout stage pt. 1
New Gelderland 5-0 Britonisea
New Gelderland: Longstaff, Harris, Forrest, Chase, Broadbent, Roscoe, Spencer, Newport, Keikodi, Ryder, Horn
Britonisea: None (Apparently national federation did not care enough to submit an official roster)
Goals: Ryder 5', Keikodi 11', 16', Horn 42', Roscoe 56'

New Gelderland absolutely dominated the Britonisean team, which apparently didn't care enough about field hockey to post a roster. That lack of care apparently also showed on the field itself as their defense cracked, and it often seemed like Britonisea's defense let New Gelderland come barreling right through their defensive lines. Percy Ryder, who has proven himself a big star during the Olympic Games, opened up scoring in the fifth minute of the match with a flicked goal past the Britonish goalkeeper, and the 20-year-old Cenian-Gelderlish prodigy Kai Keikodi scored two more in the span of five minutes by cleverly working himself around the defense and receiving a good pass from Ken Roscoe, respectively. Ethan Horn also added a goal in the forty-second after Britonish resistance stiffened for much of the first half, and Roscoe added a cherry on top by scoring fifteen minutes before the end of the period. By that time Britonisea had a serious game of catch-up to play but they were unable to complete it and indeed score a single goal in the time remaining.

New Gelderland 1-0 Frenline Delpha
New Gelderland: Longstaff, Harris, Forrest, Chase, Broadbent, Roscoe, Spencer, Newport, Keikodi, Ryder, Horn
Frenline Delpha: None (Apparently national federation did not care enough to submit an official roster)
Goals: Ryder 50' (pen.)

Frenline Delpha proved to be a more defensive unit than the other teams New Gelderland had played but they also didn't bother to tell anyone who would show up at the tournament. They controlled the ball for a good portion of the first period but New Gelderland fought back, only the sheer number of Frenline defenders keeping the New Gelderlish attack at bay. By the second period everyone was tiring and began to make mistakes, with more from Frenline Delpha's side of the pitch than New Gelderland's. Percy Ryder took the penalty for a dubious play against Wesley Forrest and scored right past the goalkeeper. By that time Frenline Delpha's own defensive structure had damaged them and they were in no position to score any more goals. New Gelderland tried to get a margin, with Alan Newport almost getting in a goal, but to no avail. Nevertheless, New Gelderland prevailed in order to reach the Olympic semifinals.

Silvacometopia 1 from 2
With round two of the champions cup over, Silvacometopia places 2nd behind Gregoryisgodistan, who defeated the Sharks 2 - 3. Round two saw the Sharks play a match to remember, winning 2 - 3 to Eastfield Lodge. Both Eastfield Lodge and our own team are known to be fair and just, so as expected, was the only match in the round where no player was awarded a card. Our President Carra Rajum seemed happy with both our performances, reporting "Silvacometopia has been performing well in many sports lately, especially in field hockey. We hope to expand into many other sports very soon, and we are looking out for the next Olympics. Silvacometopia is sure to be a name to remember." We wish all teams in this competition very good luck, especially The Serbian Empire, who is our round three opponent. Go Sharks!

With so many world-class players in Barunia, the talent scouts were out in force for the clubs of Barunia's Hockey Leagues. Although everything was rumour, there had been whispers in more than one quarter about New Gelderland. Not surprisingly, given the success that both their teams have enjoyed in the competition so far. The name Kai Kekodi has been mentioned a lot, although Kieran Longstaff also seems to have caught some eyes. The Britannon team also made their presence known to selectors after they defeated Barunia - just who they're looking at is anyone's guess.

OOC: This is an open offer to all participants - if you would be interested in signing a player to any of my domestic teams, TG us and I will RP it.

The team had spent most of the in between time between the two games resting and relaxing, most of the players realized a while after the game how sore they really were. The relief players did everything they could though to make sure they were able to be well rested and happy, for the most part it was a good distraction. If things continued the way they were then it wouldn't seem like this would be worth continuing, if they couldn't win and it led to this outcome every time it would be a really tough event to have to play through. They were willing to try, but even a Ferret could only push it so far before the truth hits hard. Other teams had made this their sport, and they could learn from them, but would probably never make anything from it themselves. For now they would see how the next game would go, it wasn't exactly fair that they were judging the whole game based off what they saw and had to deal with for the first game.

HUElavia 1–13 Ferret Civilization

The next game went better for them, the aggressive tactics finally started to pay off. Cai was able to get a better break for this game, and the attack members on their team were able to take what they had to deal with the last game and use it to their advantage. They just did everything they could to keep the game under their control, because they realized as soon as the other team got control it would be over for them. It didn't help them keep it easy though, and they continued to push themselves hard, Vieno had to make sure to tell them all that they could switch out with their relief whenever needed. No one wanted any of them to get injured, and with the way they had to play it would not e easy to do. Though they really enjoyed their first win, they couldn't celebrate it at all, but they still enjoyed it very much. With that it proved that it would be more worth it to continue to try hard for the chance of doing less bad than they could be doing.
