How would people feel like me putting up a hosting bid? As Yesopalitha I had an extensive domestic league, hosted a few minor tournaments (Tennis, Ultimate, and Rugby Sevens) and was a mainstay for a period of time. Trying to make somewhat of a return to NSSport, including hosting.

Apologies if this is the wrong spot to post this, but I couldn't think of a better place.

I will post a bid in the coming hours, and judging by the amount of sign ups so far (38) I think I will either go for 40 or 48 (If the sign ups go past 40 by the afternoon)

International Basketball Championships 19
Britonisea

HOST BID

OOC Information
Format of the Championships

So far, there have been 39 signups. Therefore, we would like to cap the amount of nations participating in the 19th IBC to 40 nations, or (If there are other nations who would like to participate, which surpasses 40) we would like to set that amount to 48 nations. This means, that there will be eight groups of five or eight groups of six, respectively. Due to the fact that the International Basketball Championships is held during other competitions such as the World Cup Cycle, I decided to go back to the schedule for the 16th International Basketball Championships, held by Electrum and Mizuyuki. Which means, from the 40/48 nations, 16 (2 from each group) will qualify to the next round, which would be the Playoff (Ro16) where each nation will play at least two times (to gain majority) to go through to the knock-out stages where nations will be eliminated from the championships if the lose the Round of 8 (Quaterfinals). Then the losing nations of the Semi Finals (Which is one match) will play in the Third Place Playoffs (which mirrors the Ro16) and the Finalists will play a minimum of 3 matches, and maximum of 5 matches.

If that didn't make sense, please refer to the spoilers below.

MD1-MD10- 2 legs played here.
Rest
MD11-MD13 - Ro.16 Playoff
MD14- Quarters
MD15- Semis
Rest (RP Opportunity?)
MD16-MD19- Third Place Playoff and Finals
MD 20 and 21: If Needed

Scorination and Grading/Bonuses

The Scorination for the 19th International Basketball Championships will be done using the latest version of Xkoranate, from the day of when the IC Thread is opened. The Grading for the scorination will not be done based on length (Quantity) though rather on Quality, and understanding of the competition taking place. Nations will be given RP opportunities throughout the competition, which they can use to better their RPs and score full marks when the Cut Off comes around. A quote from the successful bid of the 16th IBC is "Referring to rosters, interacting with other nations and using the available IC information will be favoured." And, this will be definitely taken in to account. Rosters are very important and will be scored twice the amount of regular RPs. based on the criteria. Tie-breaks which will be used, in order, H2H, H2H PD, H2H PF, Overall PD and then Overall PF. So the same as the previous IBC. If after that, the tiebreaker doesn't work, another match will be played, then a flip of a coin.

Experience

I have hosted the odd tennis tournaments (4- 2 in 2013, 1 in 2014 and 1 in 2015 and possibly bidding to host the World Tour Finals) and I have also hosted the Kronum Cup, while having experience within the Athletics Area of NS. I have been on NationStates for 3 years from last week, and been on the NSSports Forum ever since July of 2013. I think that it's time to start hosting more events along with improving my Roleplay and understanding of different tournaments. I've also hosted the UCRRFF Cup, which is a regional football competition while being Sports Coordinator of the UCR; deciding when different competitions will take place. Finally, I have hosted some domestic Olympic Events for both myself and other nations.

Cut-Off Time and Additional Information

The Cut-Off time of the competition will be between 19.45 (7:45pm) to 20.45 (8:45pm) UTC. No Additional Information for now.

The nation of Britonisea is currently in 2031, and elected a Patriot after years of Labour ruling. The Patriot, Hollande Rudy, said that he promises to create a decade of Sports (Similar to the UK between 2010-2020) where Britonisea will bid in order to gain experience and so that the Britonish People warm themselves with sports. Britonisea is a hub for regional and international business, and is also a centre for Music, as over the past few years (About 6 months in Real) hosted 3 music competitions; one of which was international and well known. For the Opening of "Decade of Sport" there will be a small Opening Ceremony (Wink Wink RP Opportunity) before getting straight in to the main gritty competition which Britonisea hopes to see glory, upsets and scandals a problem-free competition.

Thanks for your time, and please consider the Britonish Bid for the 19th Competition.

I'm glad that someone's put in a bid, but...

...I'd recommend a couple of changes.

How about making all four playoff rounds 2 out of 3?

Assuming we have 48 participants, this would result in
10 days of Group Competition &
a maximum of 3 days per playoff round.
That's 22 days.

That's just my opinion. I'm sure you'll do a good job.
