Free Republics National Information

History of the Free Republics

The Federation of Free Republics was formed in 1767, following decades of revolutions in the World Changers region. In the previous few decades, there had been a wave of revolutions. The ideas of liberalism had become popular in the region, as Abram Schmitts, an economist from Shostistan, wrote several books promoting the benefits of capitalizm. Soon, absolute monarchies fell throughout the World Changers region. The Kingdom of Saintland remained unaffected by this wave of revolutions, due to its self-imposed isolation.

Following the revolutions, there were now many Republics scattered throughout the region. These Republics faced seemingly constant attempts from reactionary elements to reverse the revolution and bring back absolute monarchy. They also had trouble trading and communicating with one another. The newly free, with a lowercase f, Republics had numerous antiquated laws and contradictory systems of measurement in effect. A foot in Vorita was 2 feet in Amolotopia and a meter in Roxawa was a decimeter in Nejax. It was a total mess all around. This mess was made even worse by the multitude of languages spoken in the different Republics. As they sought to eliminate trade barriers and forge closer ties between one another, their efforts resulted in confusion. In the days of absolute monarchy, the inability to speak one another's language was a benefit, since kings were always waging wars against one another. However, as the Industrial Revolution heated up and brought an unprecedented degree of prosperity to the land, they could no longer maintain separate languages, separate measurements and the arcane laws and regulations that were hindering commerce in the region.

Then, a rebellion broke out in the Republic of Roxawa. The rebels sought to abolish all property, all laws and even government itself. Rampaging around the countryside, they attacked government buildings, vandalized property and stole whatever they felt like. All the while, they spoke of total freedom. Terrifying the Republic's well-armed militia into inaction, the rebel crime spree continued for weeks. Fear spread throughout the region that other "rebellions" of this sort would soon break out, providing the perfect excuse for the Federationists. The leaders of 77 Republics throughout the region agreed to send delegates to the city of Baseton in Amolotopia to discuss an appropriate response to the rebellion. This was a pretext, which was seized upon by the Federationists to push their "Constitution" scheme.

The Federationists proposed that a document called a "Constitution" would establish a new unified government of all of the Republics, known as the Federation Government. This would be a relatively weak government, as the Republics would remain mostly autonomous and generally free to do as they wished in governing themselves. The Federation Government would have an enumerated list of responsibilities, such as promoting commerce, maintaining a common foreign policy and common immigration policy and several other minor tasks, such as the option to establish a national postal system.

The Constitution guaranteed a number of fundamental rights. Among them are the rights to freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion and the right to own weapons for the defense not only of oneself and of the Federation, but also against tyranny. Other provisions of the Constitution prohibited unreasonable searches, cruel and unusual punishments and double jeopardy. The document also included a strict prohibition on the practice of slavery and declared immediately and permanently free any "slave" that was brought within any territory subject to the Free Republics. The Federation Government has the power to pass any legislation it deems necessary to free slaves. While ratification was controversial, due to the feeling among many people that the Federation Government was too powerful, it was eventually ratified by the electorate in each of the original 77 Republics. Today, there are the number of Republics in the Federation is well into the hundreds.

The Constitution created a bicameral Legislature and an executive branch where power is shared equally by the 2 heads of state. The Assembly is the popularly elected branch of the Legislature. Originally, it used a first-past-the-post system, but this was later changed to proportional representation after political parties and coalitions became the norm. The entire Assembly has always been up for re-election every second year. The Senate, by contrast, is a purely appointed branch and Senators serve for life terms. When a Senator is elected to another office, he becomes an inactive Senator, but other than such periods when he may serve in other offices, he is a Senator for life, without exception. Each Republic may appoint a new Senator every second year and Senators are appointed in the same years when Assembly elections are held. Finally, the Consuls are elected to 8 year terms, with a new Consul elected every 4th year. This means that every other Assembly election is held simultaneously with a Consul election. The Constitution prohibits any Consul from serving more than a single term per lifetime. Originally, Consuls were also elected first-past-the-post, but that has since changed to a 3 round system. In the first round, the top 2 candidates, plus any other candidates that get at least 10 percent of the vote advance, assuming that no candidate gets a majority of the vote. The second round sees the top 2 candidates advance, again assuming that nobody wins a majority of the votes cast. In the third and final round, whoever wins the majority of votes cast is elected. Both Consuls have and have always had full power to veto any act of the other and former Consuls automatically become Senators upon the expiration of their term in office.

The government of the Free Republics quickly moved to standardize the system of measurements used throughout the Federation and adopt English as the national language. To help transition the Federation to an English-speaking nation, the Federation Government established a system of schools funded by the Federation Government, which ensured that the next generation would speak English and identify themselves as Republicans, rather than identifying themselves by their home Republic and speaking their Republic's native language. A substantial minority of parents resisted this effort, but children were allowed to go to school and learn English, whether or not they had parental permission. By 1830, almost everybody spoke English and identified as a Republican, not an Amolotopian, Roxawan, Voritan, Schost or whatever the demonym was for their home Republic. This brought about a more unified society. Around this time, education was returned to the Republics, most of which eventually adopted a voucher based system.

The government also banned trade barriers between Republics. This was an expected and noncontroversial move. The funding of the government by a tariff also proved uncontroversial, since politicians generally agreed that the tariff should be limited to revenue only and not used to "protect" industries from competition. However, an income tax was eventually adopted as foreign imports began to dry up. The Republican economy was simply too much of a powerhouse to justify importing goods from abroad. Discontent with the income tax grew as the government kept pushing it higher and higher. Finally, Paul Musgrove ran for Consul on a platform of capping all taxes at 10 percent of income. After his election, the amendment passed both the Assembly and the Senate before being sent directly to referendum. Voters in every Republic overwhelmingly voted for it and it became a popular amendment.

In the 20th century, the Free Republics became even more of an economic powerhouse, thanks to the capitalizt economic system. Business thrived in the FFR, as the nation became progressively wealthier. Over the years, the FFR has expanded its territory while remaining on the cutting edge of technological advancement. In the present day, the Free Republics have a population in the billions and are one of the wealthiest nations in the multiverse, with a correspondingly high rate of income inequality. The exact population of the Free Republics is unknown, due to a Constitutional amendment adopted in 1934, which prohibited the taking of a Census by any entity, whether governmental or otherwise.

Several years ago, the Free Republics were left leaderless following the death of both Consuls within the span of a few months, one of them via assassination. In the chaos, Reino Kulseth of the Holy Party was elected Consul and gradually obtained dictatorial power for himself at the expense of the nation's Republican institutions. Kulseth established a tyrannical government that passed laws against lying (despite routinely lying to their own people) and mandating the use of the word "thou" instead of you in most circumstances. Kulseth dragged the nation into a large-scale war that proved extremely costly for both sides and which led to his downfall.

In the end, the Republican people rose up against Kulseth and, aligned with several foreign armies, brought down Kulseth's "Holy Republican Empire" and brought back the Federation of Free Republics. Robert Nicholls, the father of Veleik Nicholls (leader of the popular revolt) and owner of Nicholls Enterprises, was named the new Acting Consul until such time as the normal electoral process could elect his replacement. Consul Nicholls intends to spend his time as Consul restoring the Free Republics to its former glory.

Transportation

Just about every mode of transportation is an option in the Free Republics. Visitors for the Sporting World Cup may arrive at any seaport or airport in the Free Republics. Planes and ships may also be used to travel between cities. As the Free Republics spans 4 continents and many thousands of miles, the use of planes is recommended for long-distance travel.

Several private companies offer high speed rail between cities. It is possible to travel through most of the Free Republics on high-speed rail, although in some places you may have to walk across the city to a competing company's station to go to your desired destination.

The use of bicycles, although unregulated, is not recommended. The Free Republics are simply too vast a nation, so players and fans that travel by bike risk missing a match altogether.

Taxis are available in every city that will be hosting Sporting World Cup matches. Most bus services cover a radius of less than 100 miles, so the use of buses is only recommended for short distance travel.

Automobiles are legal in the Free Republics and can be rented near any airport or seaport. Travel by automobile is possible to any nation located on one of the 4 continents upon which the Free Republics are located. However, as the Republican continents are located in far-eastern Esportiva, it is not possible to travel by automobile to-or-from the Free Republics and any other nation participating in the Sporting World Cup. Anybody who intends to rent a car is strongly encouraged to get a Republican drivers license, as foreign drivers licenses are only recognized in certain Republics. Most Republics will hand out a drivers license to anybody that applies and passes the driving test. The difficulty of these tests varies greatly by Republics. The test in Nejax is notoriously easy while the test in Amolotopia is notorious as one of the most difficult. Despite this, all Republics are required by Federation law to recognize out-of-Republic drivers licenses as valid. A wide variety of cars are commonly available in the Free Republics, such as SUVs, sports cars and pick-up trucks. Those that have money to burn may rent luxury cars or limos. The vast majority of cars on the road are produced in the Free Republics. Many roads, especially long distance roads, are underfunded and in poor condition, so planes and high speed rail are much more popular in the Free Republics.

Lodging

There are numerous hotel firms throughout the Free Republics. Participating nations will be required to pay for their own lodging. We encourage participating teams to visit hotels.co.republica and purchase rooms before the rush. Those that wait may very well end up staying in a cheap motel with holes in the walls and bedbugs under the sheets.

Those national teams that do not wish to stay in hotels may stay at campgrounds outside of the host cities.

Weather

The Free Republics has a varied climate. In the north, it tends to be very cold during this time of the year, although it is still a little too early for snow. In the south, the climate is tropical. The Sporting World Cup will be held during the rainy season in the southern part of the Free Republics. Amolotopia is one of the more northern Republics while Roxawa tends to be toward the southern part of the Federation. A Republic such as Exastrium is in the middle, where they experience all 4 seasons, but only mild snow during winter.

Language

The official language of the Free Republics is English and all government documents are printed in English. Most private businesses do not print anything in a non-English language. While the rise of xenophobia in the Free Republics has subsided, most Republicans still don't speak any languages other than English. The most common foreign language spoken in the Free Republics is Latin, due to the influence of the Church of Saintland in recent years, but its use is currently frowned upon because of the language's association with the former Kulseth dictatorship.

Currency

The Republican Thaler is the only widely accepted currency in the Free Republics. Financial institutions are generally willing to change Sanctii bullion, Acedonian Aces or Universal Standard Dollars into Thalers. Due to the large number of currencies in the world, it is impossible for financial institutions in the Free Republics to keep track of all of them. Therefore, it is highly recommend that everybody visiting the Free Republics get their currency converted into Thalers, USDs or bullion before entering the Free Republics. Non-Republican Thalers, such as the Taxachusetts Thaler (which is notorious for its extremely high inflation rates), are not accepted as currency in the Free Republics and are not convertible into Republican Thalers.

Entertainment

There are a plethora of entertainment options in the Free Republics. Every quality hotel room comes equipped with cable or satellite television, including thousands of channels and an interactive program guide. No matter what your preferences, you can probably find something on Republican television that you'd want to watch. If you can't find anything to watch on TV, you can always log on to Sanctustube, a video sharing website from Saintland, and browse the uncensored version of the site, which has (illegal) copies of just about every television program and movie in the multiverse.

Virtually every town in the Free Republics includes a movie theater, which is a popular social hangout. Tickets are relatively inexpensive, to keep an endless flow of teenagers coming into the movie theaters. Concerts are held in the major cities on a near-daily basis and there are several popular groups in each major genre.

Nightclubs and bars are available in virtually every village, town or city in the entire Federation. The local laws do differ, but most Republics will allow anybody over the age of 15 or so to enter a bar or nightclub. Strip clubs and brothels are also popular, although the regulation of those establishments greatly differs in each Republic. Women should be forewarned that the definition of consent in the Free Republics tends to be somewhat looser than they may be used to.

In the past, pro wrestling has been popular form of entertainment in the Free Republics, especially among guys between the ages of 13 and 30. The wrestling company in the Free Republics put on extremely violent and sexualized shows. As their shows grew more explicit, their ratings steadily increased to the point where they were once of the most popular programs on television in the Free Republics. The Republican Wrestling Conglomerate attempted international expansion at one time, but the rise of Consul Kulseth and the restrictions he imposed on the content of their programming eventually drove them out of business. Abelino Sagese, their former owner, is currently looking to establish a new wrestling organization.

Republican entertainment has been hit hard by the Kulseth regime, but businesses in that sector are currently trying to revive it. The Republican video game industry, long dominated by the RepublicSoft Saint, a device created as part of a partnership between RepublicSoft and the Sanctii government, has been hit particularly hard due to RepublicSoft's extremely close ties to the Kulseth regime. Republican gamers are currently awaiting the launch of a new generation of handheld gaming devices while increasing numbers of Republican computer users have begun looking into open source alternatives to RepublicSoft's Doors operating system, particularly after the free upgrade to Doors 12 was discovered to contain numerous backdoors designed to aid the efforts of the Kulseth government to spy on its citizens.

Important Laws

For the most part, visiting teams and fans will not have to worry about any unusual laws in the Free Republics. While public nudity statutes remain on the books in many Republics and around half of the Republics restrict the use of hard drugs, pornography, prostitution, alcohol, tobacco and cannabis are generally legal. In fact, pornography is legal everywhere in the FFR, as it is recognized by the Federation courts as freedom of speech. While many of these activities were barred at the request of the Kulseth regime, there has been a push since the dictator's demise to legalize them as widely as possible.

Some Republics have their share of silly laws. The Constitutional provision prohibiting "cruel and unusual punishment" does not have as strong of an effect as you might expect because the Federation courts use an 18th century definition of cruel and unusual punishment. While nobody's going to be hung, drawn and quartered or tortured for evidence, several backwater Republics do practice some rather bizarre punishments for crimes. If you're going to run into any legal problems, it will probably be in some backwater Republic, since they are the main power base of extremist politicians in the Free Republics. Even under Kulseth's Consulship, the federal system remained largely intact, so many of these extremist politicians have been in power since the days before Kulseth's rise.

In particular, women visiting the Free Republics should be mindful that sexual consent is defined slightly more broadly than they may be used to. The Free Republics has traditionally had a very sex-positive culture for the most part and has tended to be suspicious at times regarding the reliability of accusations of sexual crimes. The different sexual norms in the Free Republics have caused several international incidents in the past. Sexual norms changed during the Kulseth regime and have yet to fully return to the way that they were. Given Kulseth's popularity among Republican women, it is doubtful that the old sexual culture will ever be fully restored.

Stadiums

During the Sporting World Cup, there will be a total of 8 host stadiums. Each stadium will host all of the matches for a single group. Each stadium will also host a Round of 16 match and one additional knockout round match.

Olympic Stadium (Nicholls Enterprises Group A, Ro16 Match & SF match

The Olympic Stadium, which seats 107,432, was constructed for the X Winter Olympics in Baseton, Amolotopia. The stadium, which has a retractable roof, hosted all of the ceremonies at the recent Winter Olympics and has replaced Nicholls Enterprises Stadium as the foremost stadium in Baseton. Amolotopia is toward the northern part of the Free Republics.

RayDome (AllMart Group B, Ro16 Match & 3PPO)

The RayDome is located in Doranto, Contoria and seats 72,469. Contoria is a southern Republic. The RayDome is the home of the Doranto SunRays. The SunRays are one of the more accomplished (gridiron) football teams in the FFR. The RayDome has a fully transparent roof and is an architectural marvel.

Soccer Palace (Dixon Light Group C, Ro16 match & SF match)

The Soccer Palace is located in Petrograd, Plymouth and seats 111,663. The Soccer Palace is a truly massive stadium, with plenty of room for future expansion. Petrograd is the center of the oil industry in the Free Republics. The Republic of Plymouth is located toward the south-western portion of the country.

IslandDome (RT&T Group D, Ro16 Match & QF Match)

The IslandDome is located in the city of Toakameau, located in the island Republic of Falatulu and seats 66,665. Falatulu consists of several small islands off the southern coast of the Free Republics. The Republic is known for its libertine lifestyle and for its high levels of political apathy. The Falatuluan lifestyle is a non-stop party, making the Republic a popular vacation destination. Free love is practiced by the majority of Falatuluans and drug use is rampant on the islands. With a tropical climate, its always warm and its almost always sunny on the islands. Toakameau is the only city in Falatulu.

FreedomCola Stadium (FreedomCola Group E, Ro16 Match & QF Match)

FreedomCola Stadium in Borotia, Iodara is the home of both the Borotia Ninjas and Borotia City. A 72,398 seat stadium, FreedomCola Stadium is sponsored by the makers of the most popular soft drink in the Free Republics. Iodara is a western Republic, located in the middle of a mountain range. The city of Borotia is located in a valley between mountains. Iodara is relatively lightly populated and the Republic's populace tends to be very self-reliant and skeptical of outsiders.

MilaneseDome (Bank of Acedonia Group F, Ro16 match and QF match)

The MilaneseDome is named after Virgilio Milanese, a former Consul of the Free Republics. Consul Milanese was born in the Republic of Keronama. The stadium seats 98,734 and is located in Wortana, Keronama. Keronama is toward the eastern part of the Free Republics.

Gem of the Oceans Stadium (BearOil Group G, Ro16 match and Final)

Located in Republica, the capitol of the Free Republics, Gem of the Oceans Stadium is a massive stadium that seats 101,208 fans. Gem of the Oceans Stadium is named after the National Anthem of the Free Republics. Republica is located near the center of the Free Republics, but is slightly north of the true center.

Olden Stadium (Olden Automobile Company Group H, Ro16 Match & QF match)

Olden Stadium is located in Falkamore, Nejax. Olden Stadium is named after the Olden Automobile Company, one of the leading automobile manufacturing companies in the Free Republics. Olden is famous for making SUVs and pick-up trucks. Nejax is a southern Republic. Olden Stadium seats 92,681. Nejax has acquired somewhat of an international notoriety in the past.

Notes

The Federation of Free Republics (FFR) is a federation of Republics with a weak national government (the "Federation Government") that has numerous checks and balances. The Republics, each of which has its own government, are relatively independent, although they are subject to the Federation Constitution and its numerous restrictions on what government can do. Most important among them is the cap on taxation, which makes it unconstitutional for government (meaning all governments in the FFR) to take more than 10% combined of anybody's income in taxes, effectively limiting the government.

While this is the first ever Republican U-18 team, the core of the team participated in the last edition of the Under 15 World Cup 4 years ago and finished second, losing the final to the team from the Royal Kingdom of Quebec. Now that Rule Theriault is back in control of the National Team organization he created, they are sending mixed gender teams to tournaments once again, starting with this tournament.

The stars of the team are Connie Chase, a promising striker who was kept off the Holy Republican Empire's National Team due to the sexism of the Kulseth government and Curzio Marcelo, the cousin of Senior Team centerback Berto Marcelo. Connie Chase has spent the last few years developing into a star player for the Quebecois domestic club Trojana Condommakers FC while Marcelo has been dominating domestic youth competitions. The 2 of them, collectively, are considered the future of the Republican National Team and many believe that they will one day be better than Kyle Bolton and Koby Theodore, the current stars of the 2-time World Cup semi-finalists.

Speaking of Bolton and Theodore, they will be co-managing the team on behalf of Rule Theriault. They have elected to utilize the team's retro kits for this tournament, which Theriualt purchased from some high school team, rather than the Kirola kits that the Republicans have become known for over recent World Cup cycles.

ABOUT THE TEAM:

Armeia doesn't field unified national teams in football and instead each region, North, South, and West, field separate teams and fight each other to gain the best prospects. Southern Armeia is representing the country in this tournament. The Southern region was the original settlement in Armeia, but after World War Two when many civilians from Vichy France, Armeia's strong ally, fled to the area, it gained a distinct French culture, making French the second most spoken language there behind Swedish, the national language.

This is the first Armeian U-18 team and has drawn the best talent from the South and beyond, from both the women's league WD1 and the men's league, Division 1, as well as youth leagues and various colleges. R.C Atlas is the most represented team, with five players from it's football system, with one from it's pro women's team. The stars of the squad are goalkeeper Augustus Lenz, twin strikers Bianka and Draga Schraeder, and winger Joseph Sven Martin. Lenz is the only professional goalkeeper in the squad, playing for championship squad R.C Lions, while the Shraeder twins are leading the nation in scoring for Loftus College.

A strange fact about this squad is that every eighteen year old and some of the seventeen year olds have fought on the front lines in the Seven Days War and the resulting insurgency caused by it. Tangeman, Niklasson, Sault, Zupan, and Borg were a part of an air unit with two other Nordiques players that were killed in action. Saloman and Dreschler were in a land unit with former striker Ty Dragic, however Dragic was killed by an enemy air strike, and now Draga Schraeder wears his number in his honor.

Most of the players who grew up in the Western region lost parents in the Bosnian or Kosovo wars, also, when Armeia suffered big defeats. Lenz, Zupan, the Schraeder twins, and Ebner had both parents die in the conflicts, while Sternberg, Saloman, Dreschler, Borg, and Bonner had one parent killed.

SEMARLAND AT THE U18 WC

Proudly, the SFA excitedly enter an U18 team to the first ever U18 World Cup held in Free Republics. Since the national U18 side have never competed in any major tournament except for invitationals, it is an exciting time for avid fans of Semar youth football.

With Semarland having a multiversal-wide reputation for youth development, newly appointed managers Isaac Lindisfarne and Johan Kromso have decided to select 28 players for this World Cup instead of the traditional 23.

With so many players to choose from, Lindisfarne, Kromso and their entire backroom team have spent the entire past few weeks intently watching highlight clips of U18 and U16 matches. There are no U16 players in this side, however, with all the players involved’s club contracts being a scholarship one for the 2018/19 season.

Without further ado, here are the lucky 28:

#1 – GK – Martin Valbuena – Krsthaven – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
You guessed it, he’s the younger brother of first-choice senior team goalkeeper Marco. He’s almost like a younger version of him, with athletic saves but Martin is probably more eccentric than his older brother. With Marcus Tomasson out injured for most of last season at Krsthaven, Valbuena provided reliable cover and strong competition for Guayabelense youngster Nerio Teran. With national team assistant Tunde Ajayi watching, he’ll definitely be looking if Martin is another in a long line of goalkeepers for the future of the national team.

#2 – DR – Valentin Modise – Kangemark Sport – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
Named as the next Eirik Malsen by some, Modise is widely considered to be one of the most promising talents in the Kangemark academy. Modise actually made his U18 debut at the tender age of 13, his record surpassing a very certain Matur Eiriksson of FC Jansberg, and has always been around the U16 team since U11 age. Modise was in excellent form for Semarland U16 in recent games and signing his scholarship at Kangemark is the next step in this talented youngster’s career.

#3 – DL – Bruno Mabanga – FC Nuholm – Age 17 – 2nd Year Scholar
Big and intimidating, Mabanga has terrorised both opposition’s defence and attack at U18 level for the past three seasons. Even when he was an U16 he was a regular in defense and rightly so. A marauding, attack minded left back, he is capable of hitting long shots and playing some excellent cross-field balls. Mabanga personally rejected big-money moves to the likes of Krsthaven, FC Jansberg and other foreign suitors to stay and develop at Nuholm. Perhaps he could follow in the likes of Demba Cisse and Tunji Tunde’s footsteps?

#4 – DMC – Dieudonne Labonne – Krsthaven – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
Like fellow club teammate Martin Valbuena, Dieudonne Labonne is the younger brother of a national team player – with Dieudonne obviously being Marcel’s younger brother. He has a similar playing style to his brother in being a rock in the middle of the pitch, playing excellent passes both long and short and an intimidating presence when he plays in defence midfield, with a reputation for a tough tackle. Impressing Krsthaven Head of Youth Development Daniel Lindesfarne so much, he made his U21 debut when still an U15. Expect him to be a regular at both U18 and U21 level for Krsthaven.

#5 – DC – Amani Chimbonda – Krsthaven – Age 17 – 2nd Year Scholar – Captain
Another Krsthaven player included in the squad, it is no surprise that Amani Chimbonda is included. A strong leader from the back, Chimbonda has been named as captain for Lindisfarne and Kromso’s side. Chimbonda is an imposing figure at the back of a strong club defense, and by making 9 U18 appearances (bear in mind only really friendlies have been played recently), this makes Chimbonda one of the most capped players in the squad. Despite his age, there are rumours that he will go out on loan to a 2Ligaen or Lig1 club this season.

#6 – DC – Junde Toonga – FC Jansberg – Age 16 – 1st Year ScholarJoint Vice-Captain
Despite not being as tall as Chimbonda, Junde Toonga is still an imposing presence at the back. Toonga was a reliable part of Semarland’s U16 side for the past couple of years, forming formidable partnerships with Chimbonda, Dieudonne Mbonga and Marc Filipsen. Having a loud presence at the back he has been selected as joint vice-captain for the squad. Toonga is also a major threat from set pieces, scoring 5 times for FC Jansberg U16 last season with four of those goals headed in from corners with the other a free kick taken by himself.

#7 – ML – Johan Lindersson – FC Nuholm – Age 17 – 2nd Year Scholar
Johan Lindersson is one of the finest young Semar wingers there is and it comes to no surprise that people are given this youngster such acclaim. A master of playing beautiful passes and accurate crosses, Lindersson has been a reliable asset in FC Nuholm’s U18 successes in recent seasons. Originally on the books of FC Kolberg’s academy, he was signed by FC Nuholm at U13 level, with then Head of Recruitment Janne Karlsson labelling him the next “Soren Rasmussen”.

#8 – AMC – Rene Claro-Hunt – Krsthaven – Age 17 – 2nd Year Scholar
Twins Rene and Reiss Claro-Hunt are widely expected to be the future of Semar football, and it’s easy to see why. Silky attacking midfielder Rene has already overtook Demba Cisse’s assist record at U18 level and is fast approaching Andreas Jansen’s at U21 level too. Son of former Krsthaven and FC Nuholm midfielder Devane Claro, twin brother to Reiss and older brother to Djair, Stephane, Germaine and Remaine, expect Rene and Reiss to be on the national team scene very soon.

#9 – ST – Reiss Claro-Hunt – Krsthaven – Age 17 – 2nd Year Scholar
Twin to Rene, Reiss Claro-Hunt is widely labelled as the next “Marc Lygaard”. Of course, anyone could say that but when the man himself says he’ll be the national team’s top scorer one day, then people will believe it. All the way up from U11 level to current U18 level, he’s netted a phenomenal 249 goals for Krsthaven’s academy side. As well as 15 U16 goals and a further 4 at U18 level, he is destined to become one of the greatest strikers Semarland has ever seen.

#10 – ST – Kwame Nelson – FC Jansberg – Age 17 – 2nd Year Scholar
A regular goalscorer at U18 level too, Kwame Nelson is yet another in a long line of exciting young Semar strikers. Last season he was part of one of the greatest U18 strike forces of all time, which included himself, Isaac Nketiah and Serge Mavididi. The latter two are sadly too old for this competition now and are regulars for the U21 side, but Nelson isn’t too old. The partnership with Reiss Claro-Hunt will definitely be one to watch and definitely one that defences will need to be prepared for.

#11 – MR – Marc Brande – FC Kolberg – Age 16 – 2nd Year Scholar
Yet another fancy winger, Lindisfarne and Kromso have made the somewhat surprise inclusion of FC Kolberg’s Marc Brande. Brande is one of the few members of this squad that has little national team experience, with Brande’s only national team involvement to date being the final three minutes of an U16 friendly against Mrevland. Risk, maybe? Good player, definitely. Brande has been a star at U16 level for FC Kolberg and is highly regarded in their academy.

#12 – GK – Nathan Musendo – Sporting Saint Adrensburg – Age 17 – 2nd Year Scholar
A calm and reliable goalkeeper tipped to be SSA’s number 1 one day. Hardly surprising as he kept a good amount of clean sheets at U18 level last season and did too at U16 level. Three U16 caps and five U18 caps to his name, Musendo is a reliable backup to Martin Valbuena.

#13 – DC – Nathaniel Simeone – Molsbik Arkjet – Age 17 – 2nd Year Scholar – Joint Vice-Captain
Lindisfarne and Kromso even admitted themselves that if Simeone wasn’t injured going into the cup, he would’ve likely been captain. Younger brother of striker Yannick and midfielder Yohannes, Nathaniel Simeone is a reliable member of the Molsbik Arkjet defence at just 17.

#14 – MC – Stefan Lindroos – Eikborg Club – Age 17 – 2nd Year Scholar
Calm central midfielder Stefan Lindroos isn’t too defensive and isn’t to attacking, giving him the perfect balance between Dieudonne Labonne and Rene Claro-Hunt if needed. Relatively new to the national scene, like Marc Brande he only has 1 U16 appearance as a late substitute against Lindmark but is still a quality player.

#15 – AMC – Eric Nti-Bonso – Eikborg Club – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
Hard working, clever and innovative, attacking midfielder Eric Nti-Bonso faces the unfortunate role of second-fiddle to the undeniably talented Rene Claro-Hunt. Despite not being ahead of him in the pecking order, Nti-Bonso definitely has a lot of skill. After rejecting a scholarship at FC Jansberg (due the likes of Marc Strand and Lomana Mandela ahead of him), he decided to sign for Eikborg Club instead.

#16 – DL – Carlo Mont-Sinclair – FC York – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
Not as physically well-built as Bruno Mabanga, Carlo Mont-Sinclair offers a more silky and balanced option than his counterpart. A fast but no doubt attacking full-back, he has developed a reputation for whipping the ball away from an opponent at lightning speed. A superb crosser to, Mont-Sinclair can also be deployed on the wing if needed.

#17 – ST – Innocent Kone – FC Jansberg – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
Another regular scorer at youth level, Innocent Kone is also highly regarded by a number of foreign clubs. Despite intense interest from Polarian side Northbrook Diamonds, he signed a scholarship at FC Jansberg anyway and is looking forward to be a part of a deadly strikeforce of himself, Kwame Nelson and ThankGod Anyamele.

#18 – DR – Anders Kvist – Lusenhagen – Age 17 – 2nd Year Scholar
A shining light in an otherwise dull Lusenhagen academy, right-back Anders Kvist is set to make his first ever appearances for the U18 team as well as Semarland internationally. A more defensive option than Valentin Modise, Kvist is no doubt reliable.

#19 – DMC – Marcel Thorbourne – FC Nuholm – Age 17 – 2nd Year Scholar
A remarkable passer of the ball, Marcel Thorbourne is yet another outstanding talent from the FC Nuholm academy. More defensive than players like Tunji Tunde, Thorbourne has already made his first team debut slotting in with Tunde and Cisse very well.

#20 – ST – ThankGod Anyamele – FC Jansberg – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
Boasting one of the greatest names in Semar history, ThankGod Anyamele also boasts a great goalscoring record. Netting 12 times at previous youth levels for Semarland, he has a great partnership with counterparts Innocent Kone and Kwame Nelson.

#21 – ST – Malakhai Songa-Mbiru – FC Nuholm – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
One of the top scorers in the U16 league last season, Malakhai Songa-Mbiru wasn’t initially tipped for a place in the squad but his goalscoring form made Lindisfarne and Kromso reconsider that. His partnership with Rene Mabi-Muskwe at club level is undeniably another budding strike force potentially fit for the national team.

#22 – GK – Carlos Cone – FC Nuholm – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
Eccentric, loud, and undeniably talented, the crazy Carlos Cone is seen as a bit of a “wildcard” for the position of third choice goalkeeper. Backup for the U16s nationally not so long ago, Lindisfarne and Kromso decided to include Cone purely because of his talent – but mainly his eccentricity that could provide a more “exciting” alternative to Martin Valbuena and Nathan Musendo.

#23 – MC – Adlai Ykugu – FC Kolberg – Age 17 – 2nd Year Scholar
Who remembers the last U15 World Cup? Many years ago. Well, Adlai Ykugu was a star figure in that side, and is a regular for FC Kolberg at both U18 and U21 level. Even considered to be more defensive than Marcel Thorbourne and Dieudonne Labonne, Ykugu is a good candidate for a central midfield spot too.

#24 – DC – Isaac Nkutu – FC Kolberg – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
Member of one the largest footballing families in Semarland, Isaac is twin of Serge, and younger brother to winger Abel of national team fame and goalkeeper Jonah who has a few caps to his name too. Funnily enough, they all play for FC Kolberg. A calm defender who is a rock at the back especially when paired with his twin, he is solid backup to Chimbonda and Toonga.

#25 – DC – Serge Nkutu – FC Kolberg – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
Member of one the largest footballing families in Semarland, Isaac is twin of Serge, and younger brother to winger Abel of national team fame and goalkeeper Jonah who has a few caps to his name too. Funnily enough, they all play for FC Kolberg. A calm defender who is a rock at the back especially when paired with his twin, he can be slightly eccentric at times and is known to attempt long range shots.

#26 – MR – Nathaniel Mavila – FC Nuholm – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
A fast winger with some fancy skills, Nathaniel Mavila is another product of FC Nuholm’s academy. Tipped to breakthrough into the first team some point this season at the tender age of 16, it comes to no surprise as he made his U21 debut aged 14 years, nine months and three days.

#27 – ML – Marcel Mbonne – Krsthaven – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
One of the fastest young players in Semarland, the braided youngster created the most chances from crosses in the U16 League last year. As his scholarship commences Mbonne looks to be a regular for his club and country.

#28 – ST – Soren Sakho – FC Kolberg – Age 16 – 1st Year Scholar
Renowned striker Soren Sakho is slightly underrated and being behind Claro-Hunt and Nelson in the pecking order doesn’t help that. Initially at Krsthaven’s academy, he switched to FC Kolberg to pursue his career there after facing competition from Amos Kanu and Kwabena Owusu back in the north.

Location: Sky over Baseton

The plane seemed fragmented, divided by nationality even though everyone on board was Armeian. Augustus kept to himself and the other Francophones, while the Shraeder twins stuck with the other Swedish speakers and the German speakers. "How much longer?" asked thirteen year old Hugo Daguay, much to the annoyance of Bianka Shraeder. She lightly hit him on the back of the head. "We'll get there when we get there," she muttered, sighing. She was a spitting image of her sister, who was only two minutes older than her. They had the same dark skin, braided hair, near black eyes, and now they wore matching Southern Armeia track jackets, that read "THE SELECTION" on the back.

"Be easy on him, Bia," said Augustus, finally wandering over from his side of the plane. "You were probably the same when you were thirteen."

"Don't call me that," snapped Bianka, who was really moody from spending a long time on the flight.

"Fine, Bia," laughed Augustus, and Bianka lunged at him. Unfortunately for her, she underestimated Augustus's strength, he picked her up at the waist and lifted her into his arms, like a small child. He did have a height advantage on her, he was 6'4 and she was 5'9, but she hadn't expected this.

"Put me down!" shouted Bianka, and the rest of the players laughed. She was blushing hard, because everyone knew she had a big crush on Augustus.

Augustus nodded and set her on the ground, grinning. "We both know that you liked that," he said. "Draga wouldn't have complained."

Bianka's twin, Draga, was in the corner sulking, but she looked up when her name was mentioned. "Shut up..." she said, pulling her track suit hood over her head. She was usually depressed, which came from not growing up with her real parents. They'd both been killed by Albanians in the Kosovo War, and Draga hated her step parents with a passion. However on the pitch, she channeled all her anger into her game, and this had led to her becoming the top striker.

"Damn, Draga, why are you always so pissed off?" asked Marc-Andre Zupan, the team's number one defender. It was also well known that he had a crush on Draga, even though she was mean to him most of the time.

"Because people like you won't leave me alone," she replied, giving him the V salute. "But if you really want to know, growing up with fake parents is a pretty big part of it."

"I know what it's like to lose someone in a war," said Marc-Andre in a softer tone. "You forget that NATO killed both of my parents. And that's not even mentioning the Seven Day War..."

Draga's face softened and she didn't protest when Marc-Andre took a seat next to her. "Hey, I didn't know, I'm sorry."

Marc-Andre shrugged. "No problem, I never really knew them. They were in the same unit as Borg's dad, and Ebner's parents... I heard they were trying to defend a section of Sniper Alley and then boom, a NATO air strike took out the building they were in and killed all of them...."

"Same deal with me, my parents were in a special forces unit and they got taken out by a Chengdu when they were trying to hold a street. I know the name of the pilot, I'm going to avenge them someday," explained Draga, closing her eyes and leaning against the wall.

"If you ever need help with that, I'm just a call away," replied Marc-Andre, putting his arm around her shoulder.

"Hey lovebirds, come on, we're landing!" shouted assistant manager Brandon Tjaeder, making the two glare at him. "You'll have plenty of time to hang out later, the federation wants us to make a big deal of arriving though, so come on."

"Finally," sighed Hugo. "What does the FA want us to do?"

"We've got a TV crew waiting for us to arrive, from Sporternav News. Everyone's supposed to leave the plane at the same time, and from what I hear, a lot of the ultras made the trip here to support us."

"Got it," said Augustus. He reached into a bag and took out a large Armeian flag and wrapped it around his shoulders. It was a team tradition for the captain of Southern Armeia to carry the flag onto the pitch before a match, and this was his version of that.

"Time to move out," said Brandon, motioning for the others to get behind Augustus and Katarina, the captain and vice captain. While Augustus had an Armeian flag, Katarina carried a English flag, which had special significance to her home city of Redtown, which was ethnically Anglo-Saxon.

As the two captains led the players off the plane and into the terminal, familiar chants could be heard from the fans. A large number of black clad men and women were waiting for the team's arrival, mostly from Western Armeia. On the opposite side of the hall, there were clusters of people wearing white or red, the ones from the South and North. It was a wild scene, Armeians were very big sports fans and would travel ridiculous distances to see the team, but Augustus didn't expect so many people, and he didn't expect such a positive reception for a youth team.

He stopped to sign things for some R.C Lions fans, as the Schraeder twins talked to a small group that were holding a Yugoslav flag. The players were going to stay longer, but Conor, the head coach, motioned for them to hurry up, their taxis were waiting outside of the airport. One thing was clear: they weren't in Armeia anymore.
Armeia: Nordic/Germanic/Japanese nation with a quite corrupt government and a militaristic society.

Additional Information

The team is composed primarily of players from the academy teams of Lutine League members. These teams are not playing a regular season this year, instead, they play friendlies and tournaments. Next year, a regular academy season will be organized by the Lutine FA. Four players on the roster are on senior Lutine League sides. Walter Prior is a starting fullback for Burnham FC. Albert Brand is a starting midfielder for Crossceaster United FC. Robert Howley is a reserve midfielder for Burnham FC. And Christian Schneider is a reserve goalkeeper for Holmesvil FC.

The U-18 team is notoriously strong in the back, with many of the top academy prospects in Lutine playing on the backline. For this reason, the coaching staff decided to play a 5-4-1, so that the best prospects would have a chance to be on the roster and gain international experience. This is different from the 3-5-2 the senior national side plays, although the inclusion of wingbacks in both formations is similar.

The U-18 side is relatively weak in the midfield and forward positions. Officials are not sure why this is, but some speculate it was caused by an overreaction to the preponderance of strong attacking players compared to defensive players at the senior level. At the junior level, this situation has been reversed.

A few players to highlight. Randall Ogden, the starting center forward, is a complete attacking player who is both strong and quick. Although some believe he would be better suited as a winger, he is being placed up front where he can test his strength and aerial ability against center backs. He holds up play well, and is more of a poacher than a playmaker or a target man.

Walter Prior, the starting left full back, is a very athletic player who looks to have a future at the national level. Already a starter on a top Lutine League team, he needs to work on his intangibles to truly become an all-star. This tournament will give him the chance to prove that his leadership has improved, as he has been given the captain's armband. He, along with center back Charles Payne and goalkeeper Mahlon Smith, will be responsible for organizing the defense.

Albert Brand, the starting attacking midfielder, is probably the most polished player on the team. Widely recognized among the Lutinian media for his quality, Brand needs to improve his confidence in his abilities and his strength on the ball. His international and club coaches are hoping that this tournament will provide him the setting to have a breakout performance.

A note about transfers: All players on this roster are potentially available to be transferred. However, Lutinian clubs famously overrate young players, and expect expensive transfer fees for even replacement level youngsters. If a foreign club would like to make a bid for a player on the roster, feel free to telegram the appropriate officials.

Nova Anglicana U18 Football Team "The Lion Cubs"

Manager: Antoine Searcy

Starting XI/Formation

Image

The U18 national team has mostly played international friendlies and served as a way to weed out players not able to play at the international level. Those who succeed at this level move on to the U20 and Olympic (U23) sides, who play in actual international tournaments. The U18 national team is composed of sixteen to eighteen year-olds, some who will be plying their trade in the university leagues, some who will be playing professionally (mostly for second division clubs), and some who are playing on travel teams. It's up to Sanctuary Reserves manager Antoine Searcy to meld this team together into a coherent unit.

The U18s play a 4-3-1-2 formation, a narrow attacking style that achieves its width by utilizing a pair of fleet fullbacks. In this case, those fullbacks are Joey Ellis and UPEI signee Robbie Bowers, a pair of speed mavens who are equally adept at pressing upfield and meeting opponents' challenges head on. At the back are Brandon Cummings and Owen Carroll, two solidly built and technically sound centre backs. Don't expect much more than defense from them, though. New Brunswick signee Caleb Davis brings a commanding presence in goal, along with an amazing athleticism, which is why he's the captain of the squad. Thomas Russell, going to university in the NAAZE, will play in more of a defensive midfield role, freeing Sean Chapman and Bryan Carlson to range up the field and pressure opposing defenders on the flanks. Henry Santos is the wünderkind who makes this offense go. At just 16, his dribbling skills are outstanding, while his vision rivals players twice his age. He prefers passing over scoring, which means that Kyle Gilbert and Gavin Branch are going to have to do most of the shooting. Branch is the target man, an impressive 6'3 with a physique that means he won't be pushed around by opposing defenders. Gilbert is shorter, at 5'11, but his on-ball skills are impressive and his shots are sizzling. The team's philosophy is to pressure upfield, applying the hockey principle of "forechecking" to football. Expect Nova Anglican players to hound their opponents and Searcy isn't afraid to substitute for a star when their legs begin to tire.

Team info

U-18s manager Grant Nean normally opts for a balanced style of play, with long patient build-ups, and short crisp passing. The former King's Park youth coach was thus, a controversial appointment given the propensity in Schottia for fast counter-attacking football. That said Nean certainly has the players capable of adhering to his style of play.

A lot will rest on the shoulders of captain Boris Hunt, as the Laketown Rangers man is one of the senior statesmen of this young side. The powerful midfielder will have the tough task of helping out in attack, while providing substance to the midfield. Hunt will be joined by the highly rated Billy Cross, who's passing ability and composure should stand him in good stead here, along with one half of the Ünterhausen twins, Johannas.

Johannas and his sister Melanie, who play for Real Chinchinhua and Kelsy Merchants respectively, are bound to make the headlines, being the first set of twins to be capped by Schottia. However there is more to the duo than a shared surname, and both are talented players with big futures in the game. Johannas is a certainty to start, but Melanie should find time to make an impact too, as an attacking option off the bench.

In attack Jack Hobbs' first team experience with Granton Vale is likely get him the nod over Ian Wilson and John McCallum, although they perhaps constitute greater potential. Hobbs has represented Schottia at U-15 level, and made 21 appearances for his side last season, scoring 12 times.

Central defensive duties are shared by Handon Ladies' Amelia Prentice and Lammerton youth product Chris Bishop. These two should form a solid partnership, with both players confidant on the ball. Handon United youngster Simon Johnson has been tipped as a future senior internationalist at right-back and Grace Hallman at 17 is already one of the best left-backs in the WSL.

It is a solid team that Schottia have sent to the Free Republics, but only time will tell if that can translate into success at this level.

The Squad

--------------------------
All ages accurate to the most recent world cup cycle.

GK Harry Gould, 18, M, Port Sebastian
Product of the now infamous Port Sebastian youth system, Gould has made appearances at youth level and for the reserves. The tall keeper is slowly rising through the ranks at the Handon side, and has the ability to make to first team football at some point.

RB Simon Johnson, 16, M, Handon United
Yet to feature for the Handon United first team, although that is not unreasonable at the age of sixteen. He keeps the opposition on their toes with his pace and guile.

LB Grace Hallman, 17, F, Cornellians WFC
Something of a revelation in the Women's Super-League, Hallman is expected to really stand out at this level. Playing for Cornallians feeder side in the WSL, don't be surprised to see her feature in the MPL before long.

CB Christopher Bishop, 17, M, Lammerton
The Lammerton defender has been capped for Schottia at under-15 level. Bishop is a composed defender, who has already made a few appearances in the SPL.

CB Amelia Prentace, 17, F, Handon Ladies
Prentace has been in fantastic form for her club Handon Ladies, breaking into the first team at the tender age of 17. Her speed and anticipation make her a very effective defender.

CM Billy Cross, 17, M, Unattached
His career seemed like it had taken off when he joined Gloriaxian club Campos Rovers, however due to lack of sponsorship the league was dissolved and he was left without a club. A player of great pedigree, Cross will be hoping that this tournament earns him a move back to club football.

CM Johannas Ünterhausen, 15, M, Real Chinchinhua (TAE)
There has seldom been more excitement around a young player in the Schottic game than there is around Ünterhausen. The 15-year-old has first team experience playing with his former club Döller, and has been called up to the DBC squad this cycle.

CM Boris Hunt, 18, M, Laketown Rangers (TAE) (c)
Team captain, and the player with by far the most to offer in terms of first team appearances at the top level. A big powerful midfielder, he likes to shoot from distance.

AMR Caitlin L'Attue, 17, M, D'Itille
Rapid and athletic winger who as drawn comparisons to North Laithland's Chloe Rudden. L'Attue is already a star player for her club, and working up the ranks in the mixed league has helped her development as a player.

AML/C Aya Bernman, 16, F, Handon United
Bernman is expected to feature heavily for Handon United next season. Fast and direct, she can cause any defence problems.

FC Jack Hobbs, 17, M, Granton Vale
His twelve goals last season helped Granton Vale on their way to the Regional Division 2 title. The tall, powerful striker's first team experience will hopefully give his side the edge here in the Free Republics.

Substitutes

GK Lisa Farney, 15, F, West Belker Picts
Already a starter for her club the Picts, this agile young keeper is widely considered the best in the Schottic women's game.

RB Nicola Long, 16, F, PS Ladies
Fast, and brutal in the tackle, Long is a solid understudy to Johnson at right-back. Her tendency to pick up yellow cards can often go against her in terms of selection

LB James Robertson, 17, M, Handon United
Another Handon United youngster, Robertson has some way to go before he is ready for the first team, however he is one to watch for the future.

R/CB Paul Rafertey, 16, M, Handon United
The ominous conveyor belt that is the Handon youth-system just keeps turning out player after player. With at least half a dozen of its graduates playing around the multiverse, will Rafertey be joining them some day?

CB Jaun Valente, 15, M, La Gorlions
A solid centre-back and one of the youngest players in this U-18 squad. Valente is highly prised by his club, the Lions.

MR Mark Freute, 17, M, Cornellians FC
Currently plying his trade with MPL side Cornellians, Freute is one of the club's up and coming stars. He will fill in for L'Attue in the right midfield position.

ML/R Klara Channings-Reid, 16, F, New Belfast Institute of Arts
Great on either foot, and capable of playing anywhere across the midfield, Channings-Reid has drawn comparisons to senior squad player Kim Coultan

MC Gabi De Ceta, 17, F, Handon Eagles
Her debut season with the Eagles has earned her a call up to this squad, and the mixed football scene for the first time. A complete midfielder, she is bursting with energy from box to box.

MC Richard Stevens, 16, M, Handon United
Maybe this is just one year too early for Stevens in terms of first team appearances. At only sixteen he has time on his side.

AMC/FC Melanie Ünterhausen, 15, F, Kelsey Merchants (PRC)
The versatile attacking player joins her younger brother (by 12.5 minutes) Johannas in the Schottic set-up for the first time. With games and goals under her belt in the Christopheran league, she will expect to get her chance here in the Free Republics.

FC Ian Willson, 16, M, New Belfast Warriors
Considered a long-term replacement to club captain Ivan Archic in the Warriors squad, Willson is one of the best up and coming strikers in Schottia.

FC John McCallum, 17, M, Port James Athletic
Already made three appearances as a substitute for Athletic, the seventeen-year-old will probably be the second choice striker in the Free Republics.

Here follows the Lonish team for the Sporting World Cup for Under 18 teams. Primary colour - White / Secondary colour - Red

Manager: Diûs Lâmpân
Assisted by Tomâts Grobôns

Player Name - Position - Age - College Team - Twitton Handle

Eôlo Aladê - GK - 16 - Râmâm Nôrt Kôlegêr - @Eolade118
The goalie for the Lonish team, Aladê has proven his worth in the provincial competition for Sêntraêv Lôns. Making saves left and right, it appears sometime as if the routine-balls fall out of line for him, making his weak spot the reentry.
Alêks Beswiâk - LB - 18 - Didim Univêrti 2 - @AlexBeswiak
Beswiâk, while playing for the second team of his uni, is nevertheless top class, according to Lâmpân. For Didim Univêrti 2, however, he's shined by creating marvelous opportunities for his team, through sometimes a little too oppurtunistic long passes of the ball. When put in a defensive position, however, his game is always on point, but never out of the box.
Bârdeûs Grotvân - CB - 18 - Inosem City College 1 - @PrimeDragonSwift
The last post before the enemy offenses face Aladê would be Grotvân. Always has been, and always will be a large kid is his motto, and well, he definitely seems to have the large part figured out. Whether he's a kid or not is for the tournament hosts to decide, if all schedules are to be believed, his 19th birthday would fall on the day of the semi-finals. Eitherway, Grotvân is a brute force kinda defender; if allowable by the ref, he'll most definitely not fear to go in deep - and that has cost him a few cards already.
Venivarûs Dônzuk - RB - 17 - Pâlas Classic - @CiceroZero
Dônzuk is, as his name might indicate to the Lonish people, an immigrant's son. All permanent immigrants to Lons receive, upon entry into the Humble People's Republic a name that appears Lonish and sounds most similar to the immigrant's original name, although any Lonian would immediately recognize an immigrant's name as such. Dônzuk however (whose grandparents' last name is believed to be ''Doncuk") is a timid defense artist, who takes pride in tricking his opponents and pulling off most clean overtakes of the ball. While doing so, however, it appears often he gets caught up in his elegance a bit too much, and forgets the ball a little more than you'd expect a National Team player to.
Gronâm Daliâ - LM - 15 - Gemelus Agriculture College - @GreenerGrass2014
The youngest member of the starting 11, Daliâ was selected by Lâmpân by little surprise however; he single-handedly helped his team reach a greater height in the National College Football Finals, by giving 4 assists in 2 games. Daliâ might seem like a rookie, but in reality, he probably has more hours on the field than some of the full-sized pros, albeit his hours are on the gaming computer as well..
Rufê Volus - CDM - 18 - Âlesiâ Univêrti 2 - @RufeeyyBigV
Volus is the fifth defensive asset, after Aladê and the three backs, Volus excels at regulating the set-up of the charge after the ball has been captured in the last lines of the team, and does a pretty damn good job at it. However, Volus is also known for his great ego, and one of the easiest ways to trigger this ego is to note him that once the offense is brought up, he doesn't actually do as much as anyone on the team; Aladê included.
Elîs Wârdên - CAM - 17 - UEÂ - @WardenFootballUEA
Wârdên is the most professional of the team, and the simple reason for this is his choice of university- University Eston Arba. This university is in heavy commitment with second league club FC Estôn Ârbâ, and when Wârdên isn't studying or training for his school's team, he would be hanging about on the fields of FCEÂ, learning as much as possible from the big guys. This broad way of learning to play football has made Wârdên into a very respectable all-rounder, although his length is too lacking to make him a great air striker, meaning he's taught himself to kick an excellent free kick.
Amêri Tôtsên - RM - 16 - Bralata International - @AmericanAmeri
Tôtsên is a megalomaniac; that means that much alike his teammate behind him on the roster, Dônzuk, he'd rather do it grand than do it right. Tôtsên however, has the skills to back it up with; scoring goals and making crucial tackles is definitely something he wouldn't be afraid of. (Then again, what football player wouldn't be? He's not afraid of trying to do something the likes of this against skillful opponents in a full stadium.) However, if it isn't done in a graceful manner, he'd rather not have done anything at all.
Subêl Gândo - LF - 18 - Kolêk Tech - @GandoGando2121
Gândo! Gândo! Gândo! It isn't an unusual sight (?) at a Lonish U18 match to hear this being shouted. Outside of course having a name exceptionally fit for shouting, Gândo also knows what he's doing. The long kid with the slightly undersized pants hobbling around the left part of the opponent's fields might be a strange sight to behold, but do not be fooled by his somewhat sluggish appearance; Gândo strikes, and when he does; he strikes with power. The Gândokick, which is his identifying feature, is practiced by many, but mastered by none. None but one. Gândo himself.
Elîs Întobês - CF - 17 - Didim Univêrti 1 - @ElisEvKonis
Întobês is not the favourite member of this squad back home in Lons. Elîs the King (as his selfproclaimed nickname translates to) is an extremely arrogant, yet also rather talented young man. The Draco Malphoy act he is pulling off definitely makes it seem as if he is an outsider on the team, but, if this were the case, he wouldn't fear as he has a few fanclubs filled with girls back home dreaming of Întobês' lips to touch theirs. As for his playstyle, it's rather similar to his lifestyle, but whether the seeming ease of passing his opponents is because he is simply so good or because he makes it look that way by actually being arrogant about it is ''too close to call''.
Keles Timênâi - RF - 17 - Teklên Community - @Keles193
Timênâi is too timid to be an Întobês, and has a name too difficult to pronounce to be a Gândo. Whatever he is however, it doesn't matter, because it works. Although he might appear a bit forgettable from time to time, it could be for that very reason he seems to pop up through a hole in the defense out of nowhere- as if his direct defender has forgotten all about him. It's hard to put a finger on his actual playstyle because of this though, but it's for certain that, if, at any point, Keles pops up with the ball in front of a goalie; that goalie is going to reach for that ball inside the net in a few seconds. He rarely misses.

Subs
GK - Gemê Bobir
LD - Tati Plôkemês
CD - Zôntêr Kalêgêrn
RD - Gerêd ên Visêl
LM - Bluôn Wonâgêt
RM - Tsun Grâporâ
LS - Hên Brisînt
RS - Leo Krânât

And, to reiterate the horrors, the group phase for the Lonish squad papered out:

MD 1 - Lons v Free Republics
MD 2 - Lons v Unified Sunrise Islands
MD 3 - Lons v Vuvuzelaisgodistan

That's gonna be loud.

As for RP permissions, I usually am fine with anything as long as it seems reasonable within a match to happen at this moment in real life.
If this is unclear enough to the point you begin to doubt your RP's validity within this rule, TG me. I could've said that with less words, no doubts.

Imperial Albaie Under Eighteen National Team

Following the Cup of Harmony qualification after a mediocre World Cup, Duke Arthur Sportern who is currently not only IAFA Lord High President but also manager of the national team has followed on with this run by announcing that Albaie will be sending a squad to the Sporting World Cup made of under eighteen year olds taken from amongst the country's top teams youth systems and in some cases from the top team's first team.

While the majority of these players will have mainly only played in the Albaie international youth system with a few being under 18 regulars there are a number of players who have made full international caps and also some that have never before appeared for any Albaie international team. The team will be led out by Vincent Deberen The Younger who while being one of the country's greatest players is still only eighteen and qualifies for the team.

The team is evidently filled with Dubrack's Town Celtic players which just shows the dominance the team has over the Albaie game as they look evident to carry on with their outstanding players well into the future.

Havenssport
Is proud to present
The Greater Vakolicci Haven: National under-18 soccer team

After a long absence from professional competition, the Havenic under-18 soccer team is officially back up and running again, with the finest young talent that Havenic football academies in 3 regions could produce hoping to win glory for themselves and for the Greater Vakolicci Haven. Coached by one of the qualified managers of the senior side, Mr Roman Rigic, and featuring 3 full international players, it is clear that the Haven is taking this competition with the seriousness it definitely deserves.

National team Coaching information
hHead Coach: Roman Rigic
Roman Rigic is the manager of S.C. United and Metropolitan, consistently one of the Haven's highest-performing club sides. At the age of 49, he is experienced as a manager, having won 6 league and 3 cup titles with U&mM.
Assistant Coach: Demit Cronan, age 26: Demit Cronan is one of the Haven's most feared international players, both on and off the field of play. A star striker, Cronan is also known for actively encouraging the ultra-violent hooliganism for which Havenic football is known.

Squad
Starters marked with asterisks.

BRENECIA U18s
Preferred Formation:
4-1-4-1
Style Modifier: -2
Playstyle: Compact at the back and looking to hit quickly on the break. Very physical, quite dirty - but at least they don't dive.
Kit Supplier: Cloaker
Captain: Sienna Fallon
Vice-Captain: Sandra Chilton
Nickname: The Armadillos

As part of an initiative to improve the state of Brenecian football and establish a clearer pathway to the national team, an Under-18 side has been established and sent forward into the Sporting World Cup. Not without controversy, however - six players, two Apoxian and four Nepharim, are eligible only through the birthplaces of parents or grandparents, and have been born and raised abroad and play in local academies. Brenecia is just a small country, and it appears that Keane is stopping at nothing to get anyone even borderline eligible into a navy blue shirt. Either way - the idea is to win the damn thing.

=================================
Choose My Goalscorers: Y*
Godmod Goalscoring Events: N
Injure Players: Y**
Godmod Injury Events: N
Red Card Players: Y***
Yellow Card Players: Y
Godmod Other Events: N
=================================

* Ashdown takes penalties, Stockinger takes most free-kicks and corners
** I'll have the final say on severity.
*** One per match.

Conrad KEANE - 42
Manager

A clever, canny man who enjoyed a career largely in the B-League, before becoming a player/interim manager and being quite successful. Later became scout, then head scout for Kingsgrove, before becoming assistant manager to Catherine Bardsley. Ambitious, cunning, cynical and with a touch of a mean streak.

Althea CHENOWETH - 38
Assistant Manager

A former Brenecian international with 58 caps to her name, Chenoweth was never the best passer but most definitely was the best as an anchor, annihilating people with her crunching tackles and constant pressure. Has shown great tactical nous as well as a gift for coaching after retiring as a player.

Goalkeepers
1 - Andreas Sparwasser (Crisisbless United, NPH) - Age 18
12 - Luke Stoward (Westpike) - Age 18
20 - Ingrid Trudgeon (Guilder) - Age 17

Sparwasser is a big, powerful goalkeeper who has impressed for United's reserves and slots neatly into a position where actual Brenecians have tended to struggle. Good in the air and as a shot-stopper, rubbish with his feet but that isn't really what he's there for, is it? Stoward and Trudgeon are both fairly promising but neither is likely to start.

2 - RB - Kurtis Fischer (Brinemouth, NPH) - Age 18
3 - LB - Ophelia Lovelock (Kingsgrove) - Age 18
5 - CB - Peter Uffington (Mandon United, APX) - Age 17
6 - CB - Sandra Chilton (Lotus Park, vc) - Age 18
13 - CB - Paul Osbourne (Rozelle United) - Age 18
17 - RB - Joseph Curtin (Falkner United) - Age 17
19 - LB - Tamara Glavan (South Rathia) - Age 18
22 - CB - Jayce Howard (Westpike United) - Age 18

The defence is strong, even if it does rely on a Nepharim rightback (mother born in Falkner) and an Apoxian centre-half (maternal grandfather who emigrated from Marque before Brenecia even declared independence). Chilton, younger sister of full international centre-half Merry, is lanky, quick with her feet and good with the ball, while Lovelock is one of the leading lights of the team, who really does have it all. Unfortunately, there is a fairly massive drop in quality as far as the backups are concerned.

4 - DM - Anna Tynesman (North Hall) - Age 17
7 - RM - Squire Trevelyan (Oldem Mechanical, APX) - Age 18
8 - CM - Holly Rosenbauer (Maximum Rovers, NPH) - Age 18
11 - LM - Sienna Fallon (North Hall, c) - Age 18
14 - CM - Marisa Leitner (Goodfeather FC, NPH) - Age 16
16 - CM - Portia Flahavan (Marque) - Age 17
18 - LM - Priscilla Maitland (Francisca Orient) - Age 18
21 - DM - Zoe Portsgate (Northern Union) - Age 16
23 - RM - Tom Watmough (North Rathia) - Age 18

The team is unfortunate to be a year too late for defensive midfielder Catherine Gryphon, one of the highest-rated Brenecian talents of recent years, and neither Tynesman nor Portsgate is exceptional. Fallon is a reliable Northerner with an orthodox skillset while Trevelyan is muscular, physical and attack-minded, and they've already inspired Spitfire-Macbeth comparisons respectively. Rosenbauer is an incisive and assertive presence in midfield while Leitner is a remarkably talented playmaker who should make waves at this age group. Maitland and Flahavan are decent players but only here to make up the numbers, while there might well be a good player in Watmough if he can get some anger management courses.

9 - CF - Judith Russell (Falkner United) - Age 18
10 - CF - Victoria Brittain (Pikemouth) - Age 18
15 - CF - Tess Montrose (Kingsgrove) - Age 16

Two rough archetypes of striker over the three. Judith Russell is 6'3" and powerful, a perfect hold-up player capable of playing with her back to goal and a reliable finisher. Brittain is in a different mould altogether, the mould that runs really fast and knocks the ball past the last defender and has shaky composure. Brittain is likely to start, with a better technical player but even more raw like-for-like replacement in Montrose.
Puppet of Nephara.

ASSESSING THE U18 STAFF – DO THEY HAVE THE RIGHT EXPERIENCE

With new managers Isaac Lindisfarne and Johan Kromso basically hand-picking their backroom staff themselves, we’re going to take a look at who they are, their experience and whether they are the right person for their role.

ISAAC LINDISFARNE AND JOHAN KROMSO, HEAD COACHES
We’ll go into more detail about the two head coaches, too. 37 year old Isaac Lindisfarne comes for family of football coaches himself. His father was first team coach at Eikborg Club for 46 years, before retiring three years ago, his mother managed Krsthaven Ladies, Arkrau Klub Ladies and is currently technical director at Kangemark Sport Ladies and his two brothers work at Eikborg Club’s academy. Isaac has been qualified for 17 years and so far he has worked as an U11 coach, U16 manager, U21 manager, first team coach, Academy Manager and Academy Director. Whilst he has only managed two levels, the SFA think his experience in coaching and day-to-day running of academy football will make him work especially well with the players.

Johan Kromso is more experienced on the managing side though. The 44 year old was FC Jansberg’s U18 manager up until 2016, before assisting the U21s. He was called up because of not just only his success – his notable ability to work with U18 players so well it almost looked as if their communications were telepathic. Like most coaches these days, Johan had a brief playing career as a centre-back for Copenbrok Klub and FC Arkrau (now Bricklands) before quitting the game age 24 to focus on his coaching career, alongside teammate Christopher Mavididi (father of Serge), who now currently works at FC Jansberg where his son plays.

LEON MELKMARSSON, ASSISTANT MANAGER
25 year old Leon Melkmarsson has a rather busy career, playing semi-professional football for FC Kvist whilst being an U18 coach and interim U18 assistant manager at FC Kolberg. The talented attacking midfielder was unfortunately released from FC Kolberg aged 20 due to injury problems (a recurring ankle issue) but made three appearances for the side. He is now successful over in nearby Kvist, which enables him to be with the U18s then make the short drive over so he can play in his match, although he only travels to U18 games when both games are at home. Otherwise, he still works in training with them.

MELVIN NSUMBU AND KARL HANSSON, FIRST TEAM COACHES
Melvin Nsumbu surprised many of his family when he announced he wished to work in football considering his father, his uncles and brother (Dieumerci, Issick, Yves and Lomana) were all involved in rugby (Lomana is currently one of the star players of the national team, despite being 35). Melvin fulfilled his goals when he joined FC Kolberg as an U18 coach, but left three years ago to be first team coach at Molsbik Arkjet, where he has just recently left considering Henrik Jensen is bringing more staff in from his tenure as national team manager. Seeing as he is currently available and a talented coach, he has been recruited to work with the side.

Karl Hansson doesn’t have a lot of experience with youth, to be fair, just more general first team coaching. Karl was a successful footballer in his prime, retiring 10 years ago aged 36 after winning 53 national team caps, scoring twice. The centre back played for Eikborg Club, FC Jansberg, FC Kolberg, Krsthaven and finally Adjurgen in a long and varied career before working for Adjurgen as a first team coach, a post which he’s held for the past eight years. He has a strong mentality and high motivation levels which will enable him to make the players persevere harder and do well in the tournament.

RASMUS JACOBS, GOALKEEPING COACH
Rasmus Jacobs has a similar story to that of Leon Melkmarsson – he played for Adjurgen until age 22 before he left due to injury problems. Unable to find a club because of his ailments, he started working towards a coaching licence. Starting from the bottom, he was employed as goalkeeping coach for Knaben Town, before working for Aestahaade, Eikland Sport, Arkrau Klub, FC Kolberg, Copenbrok Klub then currently Fransborg set Njilkaer, all in the space of 15 years. In most of these positions at the clubs he worked a lot with young players, so has the necessary experience in youth goalkeeper coaching, which would make him a valuable asset. His methods used are successful, something Lindisfarne and Kromso will rely on to ensure that Martin Valbuena, Nathan Musendo and Carlos Cone receive top quality coaching.

YHAN EKPITETA, DEFENSIVE COACH
Like Melkmarsson, Yhan Ekpiteta balances a semi-pro football career along with a football coach one. Centre-back or defensive midfield for FC Sunde, Ekpiteta works as an U21 and U18 defensive coach at nearby FC Nuholm. Similar to Melkmarsson he attends both matches if both are at home or just FC Sunde if not, considering he is captain, but remains with the FC Nuholm Academy all week for training, et cetera. Considering he’s probably one of the best non-league defenders right now and came through the FC Nuholm academy itself, Ekpiteta is one of the best choices for this role and the decision to appoint him by Lindisfarne and Kromso was a top quality one.

MARC SIMMERSTROM, ATTACKING COACH
Marc Simmerstrom is another that had a successful footballing career. The 34 year old FC Kolberg U21 attacking coach was a right winger in his playing career, winning 11 caps for Semarland and making over 150 appearances for FC Kolberg before retiring due to a serious knee and ankle injury aged 27. Like others who endured similar scenarios, he took up his coaching badges and became U18 attacking coach for the next five years. He was then appointed to work with both the U21s and U18s just a year ago and his work has seen some top-quality strikers come out of the academy.

JANNE LINGARD, TACTICAL COACH
Probably the only one in the staff setup without much academy experience other than Hansson, Lingard was brought in purely because of the fact he’s a tactical genius. Working as a tactical coach and Head of Performance Analysis for Eikborg Club, he has developed some somewhat revolutionary tactics and has the capability to produce ones to suit an entire squad, something Lindisfarne and Kromso should need during the tournament.

The staff will be working extensively hard before Semarland’s first match of Group H vs San José Guayabal. Some of the players will know their opponents considering a few play in Semarland, but it will be a tough game nonetheless.
