NAME: Maxwell Song
GENDER: Male Human
NATIONALITY: Han Chinese
TRIGRAM: HAN
ABILITY: Experience:1
Reflexes: 2
Reliability: 3
Bio: Born to a wealthy family in Haishang City, his fascination and skill caught the Ministry of Sports's attention. Seeing this talented young man as a gateway into international motorsport, the government sponsored his career in racing, particularly open wheel racing, from the tender age of 14 to his current age of 20. Eager to leave his mark, Maxwell is known for his ability to focus for hours, and combined with his impressive reflexes, makes him a formidable racer. However, his lack of experience may prove to be a liability when forced to face off against more experienced drivers.

I'm not sure how allowed this is, but if anyone wishes to have a map for their track and doesn't have one, I will happily create one for you.

Of course I need the all clear from the big guys upstairs to do this, but the offer's there.

That's perfectly allowed, Nekoni. Anyone wanting a track made is more than welcome to TG Nekoni.

Of course I need the all clear from the big guys upstairs to do this, but the offer's there.

I'm sure God thinks it's fine too.

An update on progress:

Current Driver Signups
The following sign-ups have been accepted. The drivers will be eligible to compete in the WGPC season. Please remember, though, that you still need to RP a contract signing with a team in order to actually compete.

Raksha Hill is listed as the Barunian track entered - please note that this has been altered to Alexwood Racing Park. Apologies for the confusion.

Also, I am confused at the moment. Tracks and Teams will be chosen according to RP, which seems to me to be a catch-22. That is: Before the tournament can happen, tracks and teams will be chosen on the basis of RP. But RP happens as the tournament progresses, which means I need the tracks and teams chosen before I can RP.

Can someone help clear up how this is supposed to work, thanks.

I'm not sure if you are still accepting circuits, but I would like to submit an application for one.

NAME OF CIRCUIT: Haishang International Circuit
CITY/TOWN: Jianing Prefecture, Greater Haishang City
COUNTRY: The Most Serene Republic of The Glorious Han Chinese
NAME OF GRAND PRIX: SinoCom Grand Prix of The Glorious Han
TRACK RATING: Technical Difficulty: 3
Overtaking Opportunities: 7
LAP RECORD: 1:33.782 (William Xie, SinoMotors Racing, Formula Han Championship (pseudo WGPC-spec car)
CIRCUIT LENGTH: 5.758 km
HISTORY: Following the joint entry of the Glorious Han government and Maxwell Song into racing, Maxwell's parents, the owners of Song Industries, decided that it was the ripe time to build a circuit that the nation could be proud of. Enter Haishang City, a major economic center. A perfect place to build a track was sought out and construction took 5 years to finish, only one year younger than Maxwell Song's current career length. The finished circuit was a sight to behold. Gleaming asphalt and pristine spectator stand proud. Built onto the side of a hill, it features exhilarating elevation changes. The lowest point of the track is the pit straight. The drivers complete the first few turns on the same level, before the ascend along the Swooping Dragon. The drivers pass through the long Industrial Chicane, only to be greeted by a steep downhill straight which culminates into a hairpin. As the drivers round the hairpin, they ascend once again. This time, they ascend to the highest point of the track, the entrance to the Haishang Circle. Here, they are presented with a breathtaking view of the circuit and the city. The view is only for a split second, as they are soon forced to drive the Haishang Circle, and experience a 60 meter descent down to the pit straight.

Also, since there seems to be one spot left for a team, I would like to apply.

CAR LIVERY: Image

TEAM NAME: SinoMotors Racing
RATING: Wealth: 5
Experience: 3
Skill: 4
TEAM PRINCIPAL: Vincent Liu
HEADQUARTERS: Central Nanhai City, Nanhai Prefecture, The Most Serene Republic of The Glorious Han Chinese
RACING COLOURS: Matte Black/Dark Graphite, Matte Red

History: The team was the People's Republic's first racing team, and is owned by the government-owned company, SinoMotors Industries. Drawing from the vast resources of the government and company, SinoMotors reached out and made a name for itself in many racing series domestically and worldwide and paid for the education of the brightest engineering minds in the country, on the term that they will work for SinoMotors. This lead to the establishment of an extremely corporate team, with vast resources, moderate experience, and many talented individuals. However, these factors are not entirely responsible for the success on SinoMotors Racing. The team is also known for its questionable business tactics and operations. As it enters the World GP Championship, the team hopes that information on its role in the Maxtopia Racing League fiasco (which lead to the expulsion of the team) does not precede the application to the officials of the World GP Championship.

The team will be using the SM-1. The entire car will be developed by SinoMotors. The prototype models that ran in the SinoMotors Single-Seater Endurance Championship performed extremely well. However, while the engine has shown extraordinary power, it still has issues with reliability; and the chassis lacks downforce. All efforts are being put in to make the car as competitive as possible by the start of the season.

Apologies to Mangolana, Barunia and Frenline Delpha for the mistakes. They've been corrected now.

With regards to Barunia's point: Former WGPC Championships used to run teams by invitation only. We are opening team sign-ups to the general NS Sport public, but as there are only so many spots open we are stressing the point that some teams may not make the final cut based solely on how active they are on the forum, the quality of their RP and, cruciallly, how much they can be relied upon to RP. As we said in the OP, should we make the wrong decision and end up with a non-RPer in charge of a team, the possibility is there to replace the team with another (changing teams from race to race used to be a regular occurrence in F1).

The policy, IIRC, was to send out invites to the users who had RP'ed enough in the previous edition.

NAME: Tyler Brooks
GENDER: Male
NATIONALITY: Yttribian
TRIGRAM: YTT
ABILITY: (1/3/2)
BIO: A young driver more known in the stock car community of Yttribia, Brooks decided to pursue a lifelong dream of his: to enter the world of open-wheel racing, better known in Yttribia as formy. His ability with handling these cars is considered stellar for a newbie to the sport, however, he still has rough patches in handling the automobiles. He makes up for it in reflexes, as he was known in the stock car racing community for being of quick wit. He's known to rely equally on guts and his pit crew, in regular situations. Driving wise, he's an avid risk-taker, often boasting to have a "141 and two-thirds chance" of succeeding in surpassing other racers.

NAME OF CIRCUIT: Circuit de Telino
CITY/TOWN: Telino

NAME OF GRAND PRIX: Grand Prix of Yttribia | Gran Premi d'Yttribia

LAP RECORD: 1:47.13 (with a WGPC calibre car)
LENGTH OF ONE LAP: 6.873 km

RATING: (5/3/4)
TEAM PRINCIPAL: Gaston Duval
HEADQUARTERS: Gaillard, Yttribia
RACING COLOURS: Yttribian purple (#4b0082) and cream (#F1EABC)

Founded in the city of Gaillard as Duval Racing, supermarket chain Frontière has bought a minority stake in the company to help fund the team, in return for the name change to what is now today. Eccentric and wild, Gaston Duval is taking advantage of his team's new found wealth and going on a mad spending spree, ignoring hte fact that his team is relatively unprepared for adjusting to circuits. Nonetheless, the eccentric Duval is looking forward to signing drivers to break frontiers.

If we get more than 30 cars/15 teams entering the season, why don't you institute Pre-Qualifying for the teams?

Because the WGPC is primarily about RP rather than results, and to have an RPing team/drivers knocked out in pre-qualifying by a quirk of scorination would kill the race.

Name: Alex Dimitrianov
Gender: Male
Nationality: Mattijanian
Trigram: MTJ
Ability: 2/2/2
Bio: Born into a fairly ordinary family in Petrovijanka, the capital city of Mattijana. Dimitrianov soon began to make his name as an exciting talent. Despite not actually winning as many events as people forecast, he became known as one of the most consistent and intelligent drivers in the large nation. Indeed, it is not unusual for him to make his own (and often inspired) pit calls and for him to regularly pick up a good point haul. Despite being a head before heart racer, Dimitrianov does know how to make a manoeuvre and often does, but prioritises staying intact over making an ambitious move.

Circuit Application
Name of circuit: Petrovijanka international street circuit
City: Petrovijanka
Country: Mattijana
Name of Grand Prix: Mattijanian Grand Prix
Night race available?: no, floodlights would be difficult to install in some locations.
Ideal start times: 14:00-16:00 as long as summer light conditions are available.
Other facilities: Separate media centre, grandstands with capacity of 30,000 around parts of the track where they can be put in. Additional access trackside for lower paying spectators.
Rating: 7
Lap record: 2:09.827
Length of one lap: 7.009km
Bio: After increasing demand for a domestic street circuit, the Petrovijanka international street circuit was formed in the centres and east of the city. It takes in part of the promenade before turning around the marina and up into the hill above the city. It then winds down the slope and into the city going through the main square and back down to the sea.
The circuit is a quick one with two long straights and fast, sweeping corners around the hills.

This is right. We're only looking for the most experienced RPers to run teams. It's a shame to leave someone out if they're interested in RPing their balls off during the season but have too little experience to be considered for a team, but the great thing about the WGPC is that if anyone RP's their driver really well for this season, their chances of receiving a team for the next season will improve dramatically.

Whiteshore wrote:What is the scoring system like?

We will be using the same scorinator as Liventia used for WGPC12, which he very generously gave us. There will be a few minor tweaks, but nothing drastic.

With regards to Frenline Delpha's track - I hadn't noticed it was a copy of Yas Marina, I'd merely forgotten to put it into my spreadsheet. As Nekoni pointed out, copies of RL tracks are not allowed. I've seen your new one: I like the design, even if the names are a bit strange and we're not even going to mention the pit lane..

While I'm here: Mattijana: Your circuit submission is a little... unorthodox. I like the idea, but the execution is a bit sloppy. Also, 1:49 per lap is about twenty seconds too quick for a 7km long winding street circuit. Also, there's a problem with your driver sign-up. The attributes should add up to a maximum of 6 points (maximum 3 per attribute) and the criteria is Experience, Reflexes and Reliability. Basically, you've got the teams attributes mixed up with the driver ones.

As someone who doesn't watch much F1, at all, I didn't know what any track looks like. Thanks for pointing that out. Thanks. And the names are supposed to be weird, like my personality. So, mission accomplished. And, imgur has no shape that tool, so I had to just draw in the pit stop. My bad.

Bohun was born in Fineberg, New Edoml, the son of Stephen Bohun, a politician. His father became Minister for Health under then President of the Council of Ministers Prince Philip Tubal-Cain in 1999. He has two brothers, Alexander and Peter, and a sister Victoria. Piquet was the youngest of the children.[7]

Bohun started kart racing at 14 but because his father did not approve of his racing career, he used his mother's maiden name Eliphaz at first to hide who he was.

His father wanted Bohun to start a military career as an engineer, and after military service to get a job with the government in the civil service to get experience before a political career as he had done. During his stint at the National Army Military Academy he played polo for the academy's team.

Chaffing at the minutiae and (to him) boredom of military life, he dropped out, scandalizing his father, and became a mechanic to spend more time around cars.

With some money given by his mother and a maternal uncle, he purchased a 20 hp cart and participated in New Edomite go-karting and in the local Formula One eventually as the driver for New Edomite billionaire Randall Fabian's vehicle, a ferrari.

In his personal life he has a love of luxury and driving fast, which is fortunate as there are a number of areas in his own country with no speed limits. He is considered a patriot of an unusual kind, loved by the public, disdained by polite society, despised by the strong religious minorities currently rebelling against the national government. He is rumoured to be the sort of young man who has women's undergarments flung at his feet.
Piquet was born in Rio de Janeiro,[citation needed] then the capital of Brazil, the son of Estácio Gonçalves Souto Maior, a Brazilian politician. His father moved his family to the new capital, Brasília, in 1960 and became Minister for Health in João Goulart's government (1961–64).[5][6] Piquet had two brothers, Alexis, and Geraldo, and a sister Genusa. Piquet was the youngest of the children.[7]

Piquet started kart racing at the age of 14,[8] but because his father did not approve of his racing career, he used his mother's maiden name Piquet (of French origin and pronounced as "Pee-Kè") misspelt as Piket to hide his identity.

His father wanted Piquet to be a professional tennis player and was given a scholarship at a school in Atlanta. Piquet started playing tennis at the age of 11. He won tournaments in Brazil and eventually took a trip to California to test his skill against tougher American players. During his time, he had learned to speak English and greatly matured. His short tennis career saw Piquet to be prized as a good player, but not thought sufficiently exciting for the sport to devote his career to motor racing.[9]

Piquet dropped out of a University two years into an engineering course in 1974. He was subsequently employed in a garage.[9]

Upon returning to Brazil, Piquet and three friends brought a 20 hp cart and participated in Brazilian go-karting (1971 and 1972 national champion) and in the local Formula Super Vee 1976 championship, on the advice of Emerson Fittipaldi, the first Brazilian Formula One world champion who sold the chassis for the Brazilian Formula Vee champion car with his brother,[10] he arrived in European motor sports hailed as a prodigy. In the 1978 British Formula 3 season he broke Jackie Stewart's record of the most wins in a season.[9]

Oops, I'll change that...

As for the circuit, I wasn't quite sure what the time would be like as it's a long, but fairly fast track. I'll try and find a neater tool to do the drawover, however that might be the best you're going to get as I can only run from an IPad, not a computer.

The nature of street circuits, in the sense that it's laid out on public-use roads (e.g., Monaco or Singapore rather than a half-and-half like Melbourne's Albert Park), means that they are almost never "fast".
