Hamilton International III

The Electrum Lawn Tennis Association once again welcomes tennis players of the world to the third yearly edition of the Association of Tennis Professionals. After the first successful tournament, in which Electrum was called on by the ATP to act as a fill in host for Nyucia, and a very successful edition last year, this is now the third iteration of the tournament (renamed from the Electrum International, but changed name to highlight Hamilton), which bookends itself inside the Astyrian Series, as part of the clay court season.

The event will be scheduled in the clay courts of the Hamilton Tennis Club, approximately two hours north of Centralis by plane. Hamilton is a hot and windy place, making it very tough for players to do well. Temperatures are regularly in the high thirties Celsius, and sometimes dipping to above 40. This tournament is a Tier 1 Event.

RP
The RP ranks will be graded from 1-5, then multiplied by an unknown factor, but it is extremely generous. Ranks are cumulative, and will be directly added onto ranking. The cutoff will be 7pm Melbourne time unless otherwise advised. If you need to know when Melbourne's time is, click here. Doubles rankings works in the same way as singles, but they have a different multiplication factor.

We bring you this special coverage from the Hamilton Tennis Club, the commencement of the clay court season. The Electrum Lawn Tennis Association has recently announced the Qualification draws for the tournament, and here it is listed as well as brief player profiles:

Madesene singles players

Mayeso Kayden
19 years old, 5'10, 176 pounds.
Kayden is a Ground stroker. During the Kinshasa Ranking Matches Kayden maintained a decent tennis record with a finishing national rank of 13.

Gabe Anderson
18 years old, 6'1, 182 pounds.
Solid ground-stroker. Anderson's performance allowed him to be rated the number 2 best Madesene player, along with an overall national rank of 7.

Odell Bristol
20 years old, 6'3, 185 pounds.
Skilled all-round player. Though Bristol's matches throughout the Ranking games were entertaining he wasn't lucky enough to reach the top 20. He sits at a national rank of 22.

Martin Bond
23 years old, 6'0, 180 pounds, left handed.
Excellent all-round player. Outstanding play at the Ranking games, Bond was able to sit right on the line of the top 20. He is ranked number 20 nationally.

Rafferty Henri
21 years old, 6'5, 203 pounds.
Big server, excellent ground stroker. Henri has become one of the nation's favorite players. He is the number 1 Madesene player, meanwhile he is ranked number 6.

Sajjad De Sauveterre
20 years old, 5'9, 184 pounds.
All-round player. De Sauveterre made a difficult and tricky opponent to many players during the Ranking games; his final rank is 16.

Benjamin Shaw
26 years old, 6'3, 190 pounds.
Serve-and-volley type of tennis player. Shaw played very successfully at the Ranking games and sits at a number 8 ranking currently.

Adebowale Gilliam
24 years old, 5'11, 187 pounds, left handed.
All-round player. Gilliam Played decent matches, has a decent rank of 21, right above Odell Bristol.

Madesene doubles players

Glenn Benoit
25 years old, 6'4, 193 pounds.
Benoit played spectacularly at the Games but produced average ranking results. His net play is what allowed him to be able to play in the doubles events of the Hamilton III with Drummond Hamilton.

Drummond Hamilton
21 years old, 5'10, 189 pounds left handed.
Hamilton was not too successful at the Games but has potential to show his net talents. His rank is 24.

Jayce Wood
22 years old, 6'3, 204 pounds.
Big server. Wood was not too successful at the Games, but did pull off some entertaining matches. His rank is 27.

Ariel Aubert
18 years old, 6'1, 191 pounds.
Net player. Aubert was rather successful at the Games; throughout the tournament he played a total of 8 three-set matches, the most of the whole tournament! Aubert is ranked number 11.

Marcel Jamil
17 years old, 6'2, 176 pounds, left handed.
Jamil is an excellent all-round player. He played a rather successful play at the Games, as he finalized his rank as number 23.

Lynton Shelley
20 years old, 5'7, 170 pounds.
Shelley is an all-round player. Despite his height compared to many of his national mates, he could still pack up a decent ground-stroke play and can rally skillfully. He is number 17 nationally.

Branson Faure
27 years old, 5'8, 186 pounds.
Faure is a serve-and-volley type of player. His serve-and-volley tactics is what made him a player to be careful about when playing against him during the Games. He sits at number 19 in Madesu.

Anselme Leon
23 years old, 5'11, 182 pounds.
Leon was an unlucky lad at the games. All 3 of his matches (until he was eliminated) were 3 setters, and all 3 proved his eligibility to play internationally. He is unfortunately ranked number 29.

Age: 19
Height: 6’3”

At 6’3”, Brittania McPhilliamy is the tallest female Andromedan tennis player on tour. In the previous Hamilton Invitational, Britt Mack made an immediate impact, making the finals in her first international tournament. Britt Mack is also an honor student at the University of Joppa.

Name: Carmen Doyle
Age:16
Height: 5’10”

Currently the highest ranked under-18 player in the Allied States, Carmen Doyle surprised many tennis experts by making the finals of the Paradise City Open in January. Doyle had been consistently among the top players in the Andromedan tour last year.

Name: Riley Escobar
Age: 24
Height: 5’8”

Having begun his tennis career in the Andromeda Navy’s Special Services, Riley Escobar has shocked the Andromeda Tennis world with his unorthodox style on the court. Escobar has a devoted following among many working class Andromedans who don’t normally follow tennis.

Name: Esperanza Cho
Age: 15
Height: 5’3”

The youngest Andromedan to qualify for the Andromedan International Tennis team, Esperanza Cho won seven straight matches before losing to Kay Jackson in Paradise City. Her cousin, Margarita Cho, is also ranked among the top five players from the Andromeda Islands.

Name: Margarita Cho
Age: 23
Height: 5’4”

A former runner-up in the Miss Andromeda Pageant, Margarita Cho was already well-known when she made the semifinals of the Joppa Open last May. Cho, a former Andromeda collegiate national champion, just finished her first full professional season.

Name: Louis Rich
Age: 23
Height: 5’9”

The eldest son of the Governor of Todd’s Cove, Louis Rich III, with doubles partner Yelena Kazakova, made the semifinals of the Cenian Open, their first international tournament, last November. Rich has decided to return to singles tennis after Kazakova retired at the end of the Nikolian Open.

Name: Kay Jackson
Age: 18
Height: 5’5”

Kenyatta Jackson turned pro immediately after graduating from high school in World Assembly Territory. Jackson, the daughter of Andromedan citizens, qualified for the International Tour by making the finals of last fall’s St. Paul State Tournament. She lost Britt Mack in three sets.

Name: Johnnie Foster
Age: 23
Height: 6’2”

The newest Andromedan singles player to make the International Tour, Johnnie Foster qualified for the tour by winning the Andromeda Winter Classic Singles Title in Todd’s Cove. Foster, a graduate of the University of Joppa, is also an ordained Baptist Minister.

Names: Bryce Lord & Kelly Cicero
Ages: 22 & 22
Height: 6’4” & 5’9”

Bryce Lord and Kelly Cicero made the finals of both the previous Hamilton Open and the Royal Nikolian Open. They also became the #1 doubles team from the Allied States with the retirement of Yelena Kazakova and Louis Rich.

Names: Ray Thomas & Hayley Van Pelt
Ages: 18 & 17
Heights: 5’11” & 5’7”

Paul Raymond Thomas, Jr. and Hayley Van Pelt, made the finals of the Paradise City Open before losing to Coosal Darlcheri & Gyrachor Rentos in straight sets. Thomas and Van Pelt also won the Andromeda City high school doubles title during Thomas’ senior year.

Names: Russell Knox & Lupe Gomez
Ages: 19 & 18
Heights: 5’8” & 5’4”

Chad Russell Knox, with partner Guadeloupe Gomez, won the St. Paul State doubles title last fall in straight sets. Both Knox and Gomez are Honor students at the University of Todd’s Cove. Knox’s father is former Andromedan President Chad Michael Knox.

Ages: 18 & 17
Heights: 6’2” & 5’6”

The newest Andromedan doubles pair to make the International Tour, John Fitzgerald Kennedy Russell and Myrtle Pratt qualified for the tour by winning the Andromeda Winter Classic Doubles Title in Todd’s Cove. They defeated Donald Byrd and Madeleine Sade in the Final.

Shiang Nagatoko Age 18 Height 6'0
Nagatoko is dominant in the back court being able to use his height and strength to smash the ball in to the opponents court.Make sure to watch this young kid as he will be looking to make an imprint on the Hamilton International III

Shia El Arabia Age 24 Height 5'6
Known as the Speed Demon through The Peoples Emirates El Arabia is one of the quickest players in the game and recently won The Peoples Emirates National Cup in 3 sets

Shawn Grey Age 17 Height 5'10
Drop Shots are Grey's bread and butter in tennis as Grey is known to play you into the back court before casually dropping it right by the net on the your side. Grey recently finished 1st in the U18 domestic tennis cup in The Peoples Emirate

Phillip Hoffman Age 28 Height 6'3
Hoffman came from humble beginnings as he worked as the ball boy for many tournaments in The Peoples Emirates. However watching the greats of The Peoples Emirates play turned Hoffman into arguablly the most technically sound player from the Peoples Emirates. Although Hoffman may not be the fastest player on the court Hoffman's vast knowledge of the games makes up for it.

Simone Laggoe Age 25 Height 6'4
"Your racket can't hit what your eyes can't see" one of quoted on the the late great Emiritean tennis players . They must have been predicting the future of Laggoe who's lightning quick serve and ability to smash the ball has earned him many wins on the domestic scene. Laggoe will be looking to add the 3rd Hamilton International to his many domestic accolades.

William Tomkins Age 24 Height 6'0
Tomkins has been playing tennis since age 6 which has now moulded him into an all round tennis player. However the most noticeable aspect of Tomkins's game is his ability to control the front court with ease. Though being critizied as a hot head by many you can't argue with success and Tomkins has had plenty of success.

Brandon Matthews Age 16 Height 5'7
When Matthews arrived on the tennis scene it was obvious he would be great. Although not living up to the hype just yet Matthews has been able to receive applause for keeping calm and not letting the surroundings get the better of him. Recently Matthews has been in a bit of a slump losing in the U18 Finals to Grey in straight sets. Will Matthews be able to turn the 3rd Hamilton International into his platform to show what he is made of ?

Leonardo Cassetie Age 26 Height 6'4
Finness has always been the key to Cassietie's game. His ability to place the ball into any part of the court and his presion to hit shots on or close to the line is what has made Cassetie successful. Although not the most powerful tennis player to grace the face of the earth Cassetie has been able to quiet critics with his awe inspiring performances.

NETC PLAYER PROFILES

Paul Quiront, 35, Surmont, Comte Alpe

A bright, burning star during his first few professional years, Quiront was the darling of the Neu Engollian tennis world as he sailed to the top of the rankings mostly due to a murderous serve and charisma that was on full display for the national media. As easy mistakes and a lack of dedication to the sport began to trip him up in the next few years out of the honeymoon phase, his raging temper showed, as well as his misogyny, bigotry and lack of general tolerance for most of his fellow humans - opponents, teammates and random bystanders alike. He has fallen from grace in the public eye in the Confederacy, and made an accurate impression in the International press for being a stubborn, cantankerous and over hyped player. Incidences in various hotels during the ATP Astyrian Series towards the female players of the NETC team have earned him ostracism from the rest of his national team and further cemented his reputation as a despicable excuse for a model tennis player. Subsequent interviews on NETV 19 geared to reverse his negative image have actually done nothing but further vilify himself and shown an overly emotional, awkward side previously unknown.

Thierry Garzala, 21, Canverre, Piemonte

A newer player, Thierry has shown promise on the courts. He has a weak serve, and still struggles with returns, but is incredible at keeping up volleys that he initiates and keeping opponents on their toes as to when he will try a corner shot or soft lob. He is not known for giving many interviews or interacting with the media on a regular basis. He is a quiet, conservative and nationalistic young man that likes to spend time with his family and girlfriend and avoids the party circuit.

Alma Semmes, 34, Albertville, Rhone

Alma is average. She is average looking, if not on the plainer side. She is affable and easily goes along with whatever her fellow Confederate players decide during off court escapades. She is average on the courts, with brief triumphant moments, but not many, but also not many catastrophic defeats. Her closest friend is Lizbet Rittenhaus, who started on the professional circuit around the same time as Alma. Along with Lizbet, she enjoys mentoring the younger female players, but unlike Lizbet, she doesn't have much to offer in teaching winning skills, but much in the way of grace and wisdom.

Lizbet Rittenhaus, 37, Burgunden, Zurich

Lizbet was a stunning success during her early career in the Confederacy. A smart and wholesome girl, she won the hearts of many as she won matches on the court with solid play, and as she became a stalwart supporter for equal rights for all genders off the court, as well as taking up the torch for many other social issues that effected the Confederacy, the region of Astyria, and the greater world. She racked up every national championship for several years running and was a household name by the age of 25. At 27, she took time off to complete her education, earning a bachelor's degree in psychology at Burgunden University, and soon following it up with a Masters. She decided to return to the courts and rigorously trained to compete with players 10 years her junior. Her rivalry with Paul Quiront began 3 years ago, as she called Quiront on his never ending barrage of commentary that plastered tabloids on a weekly basis. A match was scheduled in San Remo between the two veteran players, ala Billie Jean King vs Bobbie Riggs, with predictable results. Rittenhaus beat Quiront handily and humiliated him. Somehow, that didn't shut him up and he continues to have nasty comments about her, albeit much quieter. Lizbet remains a fan favorite as well as a champion for her female teammates.

Danjiella Zovic, 19, Neuhausen, Schaffhausen

Another fresh young player, Danjiella has performed well, if not up to the International standards of the Cenians, Costenos, Pemecutians and Electrumites. But no Neu Engollian players have seemed to make it into the quarter and semi finals of any ATP tournament as of yet. Danjiella grew up near the KERZ, an ethnic Nikolian like many around the area, she enjoys the enrichment of two cultures. She is tight friends with Marla Gerard, Alma and Lizbet, as well as Thierry and Dominic.

Marla Gerard, 20, Chemin, Vaud

A rising young star, Marla has had a similar career track as Danjiella in her introduction into International professional tennis. Her ability to make it farther than any Neu Engollian player, and her amazing down to earth personality and charisma earned her wild cards in many of the Astyrian Series Opens. She had been a particular target for Quiront's ire for many of the tournaments and has learned to deal with him, or rather not to, and ignore him on all levels.
Marla has a very soft, almost squeaky, high pitched voice and has gotten some ribbing for it on comic variety shows.

Dominic Ripaldi, 26, Torino, Piemonte

A good level headed player that has not spiked, but stayed steady throughout the few years he has played professional tennis. Ripaldi was a young child prodigy that did all the right things, including delaying his professional career to do his conscription with the NEDF, serving as a helicopter maintenance crewman with the NEDAF. After his time of service, he returned to tennis and picked up as if he'd never left off.

Mattias Doerwald, 24, Schwartzgarten, Grisbenden

Matti has good and bad matches and some of it can be attributed to the extreme dark moods he goes through. He is aloof, sensitive and doesn't often hang out with the other players when they are all on tour, but on the rare occasions he does, he has won the hearts of most of the other players on the team, who look out for him and speak up for him when he is unwilling to do that for himself.

Qualification Week

In their first appearance as a tennis duo, Jack Russell and Myrtle Pratt are facing Simone Laggoe / Shia El Arabia of The People’s Emirate. The match started about 45 minutes ago.

Russell began the match assuming that their opponents would be more adept to the clay courts and the climate. Despite Russell’s assumptions, they had won the first set 6-1. The two sides each held serve in the second up to this point. Russell and Pratt were up 2-1. They were waiting for their opponents to serve

“You want a bathroom break?” Jack Russell asks Myrtle.

“I’m good, John R. Do you?”

“I can wait. I am a desert creature.”

Pratt rolls her eyes. She finds Russell’s constant references to the movie “Dune” amusing.

A few of the other Andromedan tennis players are also in the stands. Johnnie Foster sits next to his girlfriend. Her father is the head of a Mega Church in Joppa. Louis Rich is also in the stands, but appears to be thinking about something else. Both players lost, although if Foster hadn’t succumbed to the heat late in the third, he could have pulled it out.

Most of the other players won’t arrive until later this week, once Spring Break begins. Russell and Pratt took their midterms a week early, after negotiating with their professors.

After a few points, Pratt waits for their opponents to serve. After double faulting and getting down 15-40, She and Russell have an opening to get ahead in the second set. The serve makes it over the net, but Pratt hits it back. El Arabia is wrong-footed as the ball passes him and lands just inside the side line.

“Game, Russell and Pratt”

“You gonna finish this, John R? It’s hot.”

“We’ve wandered through the wilderness long enough, love.”

Both Russell and Pratt’s uniforms are drenched with perspiration.

“Myrtle, can you see it, off in the distance?”

Russell leaves his thought unfinished. He steps behind the baseline with the tennis ball. They are up 40-love, and Russell plans to punctuate their first international win with an ace.

Game, Set, Match. Russell and Pratt.

“We’ve reached The Promised Land!

Russell and Pratt shake hands with El Arabia and Laggoe.

“Good match,” Laggoe says.

“Good match,” Pratt says.

“It’s a hot one,” El Arabia says. “Hot as duck.”

“Yeah. You could say that.”

On the way to the locker room, Pratt and Russell argue about what to do once they got to the hotel. Russell wants to visit the swimming pool while Pratt wants to soak in the bath tub.

The first singles match of the 3rd Hamilton International began with Nagatoko taking on Katya Zamolodchikova. Nagatoko won the first set after going behind by 1 game before bouncing back and winning the set 6-3. However Zamolodchikova came back and caught Nagatoko out in the first game of the 2nd set as Zamolodchikova won 6-2. But Zamolodchikova never seemed to be able to compete with the skill that Nagatoko brought in the 3rd set in which he dominated 6-0

" It was a great feeling' Nagatoko told TPESN. "In that third set I felt like I could hit anything." Currently Nagatoko stands in 2nd in Group A

In Group 3 Action Shia El Arabia lost in 2 straight sets to Tammie Brown 6-4,6-3. El Arabia started the first set strong but the heat of Electrum quickly took its toil as The Speed Demon began to slow down.

"My plan next time is to slow down,take my time and show the Emiritian fans what I can do" El Arabia said between heavy breaths.

In Group 4 Shawn Grey lost a close game against Kahanna Montrese in 3 sets winning the 2nd set but dropping the 1st and 3rd sets in nail nailbiting fashion. The main highlight was the impressive display of shots both competitors used in what was an impressive rally before Grey managed to dink the ball into the front court sealing the set.

Group 5 saw Simon Laggoe defeat Oka Sulastra in straight sets as Laggoe sent balls over 89KM over the net making it almost impossible for Sulastra. However the game took a turn for the ugly when Laggoe smashed a 83KM ball over the net hitting a ball girl in the process. Besides the scare Laggoe looked ready for his next opponent.

Group 8 saw veteran Phillip Hoffman lose to Kadek Adi Wiranatha in 3 sets. Hoffman looked poised in the 1st set and showed his knowledge of the game even curving the ball around Adi Wiranatha at one time. However the heat seemed to shake Hoffman off as he got sloppy in the second set losing 6-1. In the 3rd set the chant of "Hoffman" from the Emiritean supporters seemed to fire Hoffman up as he went on to win back to back games as he was losing 4-2. However Hoffman lost to Adi Wiranatha a player in which Hoffman said stated in a pre game interview "could go all the way."

As the day went on Tomkins lost in straight sets to Sarah Yon after he showed up late to the game. Yon made him pay as she threw Tomkins off his game nailing almost perfect hits winning the set 6-4. It got worse for Tomkins who lost the second set 6-0 causing him to smash his racket in anger.

16 year old Brandon Matthews played in his first international game today losing humbly in straight sets to Jeremy Latsurias.
"Latsurias is a good player and a guy I can look up to." Matthews said with a smile as the Emiritean fans gave him a standing ovation "the best way to bounce back from this is to look forward towards my next game and shake this one off."

"I guessed they the best game to the near end" Cassiete said during a post game interview after his loss to Paul Quiront. In the first set Cassiete and Quiront put on a clinic as both men ignored the heat and pushed the set into extra games in which Quiront won the set 7-6. In the second set Cassiete showed his finness and grace as he hit the ball into unreachable areas of the court to win the set 6-3. However Quiront showed skill of his own beating Cassiete 6-1 wining the set and the match.

Advancing in doubles are the pairs of Shawn Grey/Leonardo Cassetie and William Tomkins/Brandon Matthews. Meanwhile the lossing Emiritean teams will be playing in playoffs later.

Qualification Day 1 at Hamilton III Tennis Highlights

Singles Matches

-At least for Madesu the Qualification day 1 kicked off with Mayeso Kayden of group 2 taking on Dominic Ripaldi of Neu Engollon. The 19 year old Madesene had no trouble holding serve throughout the whole match and kept a stable ground stroke stamina. Kayden's final score of the match was 6-3, 6-3. Being on the top of the scoreboard, Kayden advances.

-18 year old Gabe Anderson did not have as much luck as Mayeso Kayden did against another player of Neu Engollon, Thierry Garzala. In the first set Anderson struggled keeping serve and accumulated too many unforced errors, which allowed Garzala to breeze through. Anderson did a decent job watching his serve carefully in the second set, but his cautiousness didn't hold on until Garzala and Anderson were tied at 5 all; Anderson serving. A double fault from Anderson then enabled Garzala to finish the match, making the final score of 1-6, 5-7.

- Odell Bristol put up quite a battle against Tatianna of Euroslavia. He started off the match very well; keeping serve, finding a good rhythm, staying in rallies, which allowed him to claim the first set. The second set is where it all started. The Euroslavian's aces began to become more consistent and the rallies were too much for Bristol. Being able to take back a set Tatianna then continued the tactics onto the final set then allowing her to claim the match. Final scores were 7-5, 3-6, 1-6.

-Lefty Martin Bond took on Laura Meyer of Elejamie. Both players were able to keep hold of their serve very well and both experienced a tie-break in the first set. Unforced errors from Bond caused Meyer to take a 5-1 lead during the tie-break, allowing her to serve out the first set. Bond could not hold serve as well as he did in the first set, making a straight set win for Meyer. Final score was 6-7, 2-6.

-Big server Rafferty Henri made a straight win against Márcio Araullo of Free Swiss States. Final scores were 6-3, 6-4. Henri also advances.

- Sajjad De Sauveterre took on Mattias Doerwald of Neu Engollon. At 4 all in the first set De Sauveterre's fatal double fault resulted in giving Doerwald a chance to claim it, and he did. De Sauveterre struggled maintaining to hold serve long enough to find a potential to take the match into the final set, but was unable to do so, making the final score of 4-6, 3-6.

- Benjamin Shaw took on a difficult but entertaining match against Lizbet Rittenhaus of Neu Engellon. Shaw started off very well, hitting a whopping 5 aces in the first set, dropping only 1 game. Rittenhaus however improved his game significantly, by holding his serve very tightly, creating a difficult play pattern for Shaw. The final set was a marathon set, as both Shaw and Rittenhaus played quality rallies, aced each other, and broke each other. At 6 all Shaw's 2 particular consecutive unforced errors cost him the whole match, as Rittenhaus claimed a match of 6-1, 3-6, 6-8.

-In group 14 Madesene lefty Abedowale Gilliam took on Christian Lawrence of Elejamie. Gilliam could not keep hold of his serve long enough to stay in the match, allowing Lawrence to claim a 2-6, 6-3 win.

Doubles Matches

- Marcel Jamil and Lynton Shelley took on Mandy Miller and Tara Chris of the United States Of Devonta in group 1 of the doubles matches. Shelly/Jamil kept a very decent hold of serve and net points as they defeated Chris and Miller 6-3, 6-2.

- Glenn Benoit and Drummond Hamilton took on Phillip Hoffman and Shiang Nagatoko of The Peoples Emirate. Both sides played quite a tight first set, but at 4 all Hamilton and Benoit broke Nagatoko and Hoffman in order to claim the first set. Benoit put in a whopping 4 aces in the first set. Hamilton and Benoit continued their momentum in the second set, allowing them to claim a 6-4, 6-2 victory.

Stephens opens Hamilton International tournament and other news from Day 1 Qualification

Lewis Stephens, the President of the Electrum Lawn Tennis Association, was happy to open the tournament in Centre Court yesterday, as the dusty courts of Hamiton saw the third running of this annual tournament. "After the success of the Electrum International, held May last year to replace the hurricanes in Nyucia, we were called on by the ATP to host an annual event, and we're happy to continue the tradition, renaming it to the Hamilton International last December. Now, we've been moved to March, which means we're on the tail-end of Summer, and approaching cooler weather, so it should be just a bit more bearable to our players and spectators." The draw will feature 64 singles players, 28 of which would be qualifiers, and 32 doubles teams, 9 of which would be qualifiers. This is an expansion from last year's tournament which had a draw of 56 singles players and 28 from the doubles, thanks to new capacity at the Hamilton Courts instituted by the local government.

Hamilton Mayor Rex Fennek said that, "In recognition of all of the fabulous tennis that has been played here over the past year, we recognised that spectators just wanted more matches. So we've given them that by filling out the entire bracket, just so those that are highly seeded don't skip out on the first round match. This change results in 12 more matches, and more value for money for Hamiltonians. This was achieved through a public-private-local-provincial-federal partnership with the building of two new courts to allow that to happen. This represented new jobs for those living in Hamilton, and we hope the spectators enjoy the expansion of the tournament. We are projected to get a record attendance to this tournament, and we are very happy about that.

In other news, the trophies and prize money were announced for the competition. The prize money, located here (OOC: Euros represent Electrum's currency, Synergy, with the same exchange rate to the USD, the Universal Standard Dollar), showed that qualifiers who crash out with 0 wins will receive 1195 Synergies, those with 1 win will receive 2345 Synergies, and those that qualify/those that enter into the first round receive a whopping 10,185 Synergies. This goes up and up to 550,000 Synergies for the win of the entire tournament. In the doubles, qualifiers that lose share 3,500 Synergies, Qualifiers/First round entrants receive 5,840 Synergies up to 170,000 Synergies for the winning pair. In terms of prizes, the Hamilton International has special prizes, representing the mining industry around Hamilton. All winners and runners up get the tennis racquet trophy, and a small replica as a pin (for men) and as a brooch (for women). The winner in the singles will receive the large white gold trophy, and the doubles winner will receive two white gold tennis balls, encrusted with the finest Hamiltonian diamonds.

Onto qualification, and although some nations erroneously stated that players would advance by the end of today, the ELTA has announced that tomorrow (Qualification Day 2) will see the first advancements into the tournament, with most of the entrants finalised by Day 3. A spare day or a play off day was instituted in the timetable to allow for draws (a hark back to the two infamous three-way group draw in the doubles in the Electrum Slam), and other contingent situations. The ELTA, for the singles, has decided that tiebreakers for the spots would be in this order: points then sets difference then head-to-head. If it is still unbreakable, then the players will also proceed to the playoffs. In terms of the draw, the tennis officials have stated that the draw will be released at the conclusion of today for perusal.

Finally, Joan Levitt, Electrum's lowest ranking tennis player, and the only Electrumite participating in the qualification process, held a press conference today. In it, she said that, "It's finally the time for me to retire -- and I'd like to do it on my own terms. In my hometown of Hamilton, I have enjoyed immense support, but due to my increasing injuries, as well as my old age (in the thirties), I have decided to stop playing tennis effective at the end of this tournament. As a journeywoman, I have travelled around the world, and although the other players can neutralise my strange shot selection due to the dominance of baseline play, there's nothing I can do about it, and I can't change the way I play tennis. I haven't been doing well enough in qualification to continue, and basically, I'm just too tired and worn out from it. I would like to thank my coach, Andy, my doubles partner Deanne Smith, and the folks at the ELTA for their support. I'm going for one last crack in qualifying -- so let's hope for my sake I do well."

Electrum tennis players have reacted in shock -- Prominent doubles player, and part of the top team in the multiverse, Sonya Gredello, said that, "I would like to wish Joan the best of luck in the future. I know it's a hard choice to make, retiring from tennis, but that's ultimately her choice. I contemplated that exact same decision when I retired from the singles to focus on the doubles, and I hope she will find a job at the ELTA." In a fitting irony, Joan Levitt after her retirement speech, defeated first time player from the Andromedan Islands, Johnnie Foster in a tight three set match.

The rest of those who have qualified will be determined tomorrow, with the winners of each group advancing into the draw, and runners up either advance or go to a playoff (depending on what happens tomorrow).

Wednesday evening

Johnnie Foster looks up and sees his ‘friend’ giving signals for him to play a certain way. The woman, who is an employee from his church in Joppa, is his tennis coach. She thinks that she is his girlfriend, but Foster has no interest in a relationship.

Last night, Foster found out that his ‘coach’ has been reporting back to his church on his activities since before he entered the Winter Classic in Todd’s Cove. He plans to leave that church once he returns to Joppa.

Ben Shaw serves. Foster lets the serve sail past him. He has become irritated with his ‘friend’ antics in the stands. Tennis Coaches don’t actually coach like basketball coaches or soccer coaches, but she had other ideas. She was staring at Foster, upset that he apparently wasn’t trying.

“Game. Shaw!”

Shaw is up 2-0 in the final set. Foster calls a time out. He talks with the chair empire.

“You see that crazy woman over there, the one who looks like she’s about to explode, she’s been bothering me for the past two matches. Is there any way you could get Security to escort her out?”

“Mr. Foster, we don’t do that. Unless she starts disrupting the match, she stays.”

Foster formulates a plan.

Foster serves for the game. He’s up 40-15. He hits the ball and charges the net. Shaw hits the ball back. Foster takes the racket behind his back and hits the ball.

“Game. Foster.”

The woman, who was visibly frustrated with Foster before the point, is now livid. She starts yelling out to Foster.

“What do you think you’re doing? You’re supposed to make us some money. You work for us, Foster. You work for us.”

Everyone in Court #7 is shocked that the woman is lashing out after Foster WON his service game. The sparce crowd finds her outburst offensive. Two security officers walked over to the lady and escorted her out. As the lady struggled against the guards, Foster and Shaw talked at the net.

“Isn’t that your tennis coach,” Shaw asks.

“She was recently terminated,” Foster says. “Just now.”

“Must be the heat,” Shaw says.

“No. She’s a psycho.”

“With friends like that, who needs enemies?”

Foster and Shaw laughed as the security guards took the woman out. The fans start chanting “Quiront,” comparing the lady to a particularly obnoxious tennis player from New Engellon.

Everyone in Court 7 applauds the security team as the woman is dragged out bodily.

"I'm playing the best tennis of my career" Nagatoko said after his win over Dougie Brees. It's hard to argue with Nagatoko who played the backcourt like a violin causing Brees to make error after error. "I feel like I could surprise a few more people" Nagatoko said to TPESN reporters before heading out of the stadium.

Fellow Emiritean Shia El Arabia was not so lucky as he dropped straight sets to Carlos Lopez. El Arabia looked like he was too cautious with his play and didn't look like the fierce player we have come accustomed to."Honestly I just wanna win" El Arabia was quoted saying "Being on a losing streak of this caliber makes you question yourself as a tennis player" El Arabia said before asking reporters to stop the interview.

Shawn Grey suffered a tough loss to Gabe Anderson losing the 2nd set in extra games. Greys game plan seemed to work in the first couple of games as he caught Anderson off guard with beautiful drop shots. Howevr Anderson sooner learned and caused Grey to change up his game as he began play awkwardly from time to time.

Big Congratulations to Simon Laggoe who advances after beating Odell Bristol in 3 sets. Bristol took the first set 7-6 in a set the got the fans of their seats. At one time Laggoe managed to go in extra games by diving across the court and placing it in an unreachable area. After the first set Laggoe seemed confident as he aced nearly all of his serves and at one time delivered a shot of 87KM which broke a court side camera. I can't wait to face Tatianna" Laggoe said as he offered his apologies of the broken TPEN camera with a prediction of his next match."It will be close but I think I can pull through."

Phillip Hoffman won his game much to the delight of the Emiritean fans as he delivered an emotional post match interview. "At twenty eight I know my prime is past me" Hoffman said as replays showed his incredible shots and skill. "But I have had the privilege to listen to my fellow Emiriteans cheer me on for twenty eight years.Win or lose getting to play in front a crowd like this in the 3rd Hamilton International is truly the best thing about my career." As Hoffman left the court the chant of "You still got it" was loud around the arena.

"The only thing that matters is the end result" Tommkins Repeatedly said after reporters asked him about his 2nd set 1-6 loss. Tommkins showed up to warm up and played well dominating the court winning 6-2. However Tommkins looked cocky and even took selfies with the Emiritean fans minutes before the second set. Tommkins's opponent Louis Rich made him pay dominating the second set and pushing the third set to extra games. "Honestly a wins a win" Tommkins said before leaving to chorus of boos."

Brandon Mathews won his first international game an important milestone in his blossoming tennis career. Jean Ben won the first set but Matthews shook the loss off and played the set of his young career highlighted by incredible long shot that never looked like it was going to miss. The 3rd set was much closer as each tennis player played some quality tennis. But Matthews's play had some extra flare to it as he proved his doubters wrong. "I would like to thank me opponent Jean Ben who played incredible tonight." Matthews said before shaking hands with every ball boy and girl in sight.

In the final Emirtean game of the day Leonardo Cassetie won in straight sets over Kendal Wimbley. Cassetie played the most beautiful drop shot of his career,Cassetie played Wimbley back before dropping a shot right front behind the net. The second set though much closer but was Cassetie's stage to show his magnificent skill as he placed one shot through Wimbley's legs much to the delight of the crowd.

Qualification Day 2 at Hamilton III Tennis Highlights

31 March 2015

Singles Matches

-Today's tennis action for Madesene players began with a spectacular win from Mayeso Kayden against Maude Bergeron of the Southern Democratic States. Bergeron started off the match very well, making sure to keep a decent hold of serve long enough to claim the first set, and he did. At 2-all it was where Bergeron broke Kayden's serve to give enable a 4-2 game lead. Kayden struck back in the second set where he got more winners in than unforced errors, and got 10/13 net points, ensuring that he'd claim the second set. Kayden's second set tactics were repeated in the third allowing Kayden to claim a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Bergeron. Kayden advances this round.

- Gabe Anderson took on Shawn Grey of The Peoples Emirate today. Both sets of the match were tight, close, and long sets, as Grey and Anderson did an excellent job keeping hold of serve and maintained lengthy rallies. With 26 shots being the longest rally in the whole match (played during the 3rd game of second set) Anderson was finally able to pull through with a 6-4, 7-6 win after 2 hours and 32 minutes. Anderson too advances this round.

- Odell Bristol played yet another nail-biting, difficult, entertaining 3-setter today against Simone Laggoe of The Peoples Emirate. The first set Bristol and Laggoe fought diligently to claim it, but Bristol was finally able to break a serve during the tie-break from Laggoe, allowing Bristol to win it. The early second set Bristol tried to keep up the momentum he had in the first set but it wasn't enough to properly close the match. Laggoe eventually broke Bristol's serve at 3-all and continued to hold serve until the second set was claimed by him, which it was. In the final set Bristol was practically losing his steam, allowing Laggoe to make way for victory, making the final score 7-6, 4-6, 2-6.

-Big lefty Martin Bond played Brandon Yon of United States of Devonta. Bond and Yon played a diligent first set where Bond broke serve from Yon at 4-all enabling him to finish the first set off to himself. Bond then breezed through the second, allowing a 6-4, 6-3 win over Yon and advances.

-Big Madesene server Rafferty Henri took on Alma Semmes of Neu Engellon in group 7. Semmes and Henri played a tight but entertaining-to-watch first set; Henri broke Semme's serve twice when Semmes lead 5-4, allowing Henri to claim that. Henri confidently kept his momentum going in the second set, making way for a 7-5, 6-2 win. Henri advances.

- Sajjad de Sauveterre played a very lengthy but entertaining match against Floyd Williams of Southern Democratic States. Williams and de Sauveterre played a very quality and suspenseful first set, but during the tie-break Williams found a way to out-play de Sauveterre's serving points successfully, allowing Williams to claim it. De Sauveterre responded in the second set by keeping a close eye on his serve, holding it long enough to eventually claim it and the third, opening a final score of 6-7, 6-3, 6-4. De Sauveterre too advances for this round.

-The 26 year old Madesene Benjamin Shaw played against Johnnie Foster of The Andromeda Islands today. Shaw maintained a fairly strong serve possession through out the first set, practically breezing through it. The second set is where Foster altered the match, making it difficult for Shaw to keep up with his game, thus allowing Foster to claim it. Shaw seemed to have got himself together in the third as he played well enough to claim a 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 win over Foster. Shaw advances.

-The final singles Madesene player Adebowale Gilliam took on Katie Lucic of the Southern Democratic States. Gilliam did not have trouble keeping track of his serve, especially first serve %, throughout the whole match, enabling a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lucic.

Doubles Matches

-In group 1 we had Marcel Jamil and Lynton Shelley taking on Alma Semmes and Danjiella Zovic of Neu Engellon. Shelly and Jamil could not find a particular game needed to claim a victory; both sides of the court fought very diligently in the first set, but Shelley and Jamil could not find a way to potentially close a set, leaving the final score of 5-7, 3-6.

- Glenn Benoit and Drummond Hamilton played an impressive, long, entertaining, nail-biting match against Paul Quiront/Mattias Doerwald today. All 3 sets of the match were very tight and difficult for Hamilton and Benoit; Benoit's serve is what saved his side of the court the first set. In the second set Hamilton and Benoit had a little trouble keeping up with play from Quiront and Doerwald, allowing the Neu Engellonians to claim that. The third set was what kept the crowd moving. Hamilton/Benoit and Quiront/Doerwald held their serving games very dearly. This marathon set seemed to have gone forever, but at 7-all, Benoit's net winner enabled his side of the court to break Doerwald/Quiront to finally close the match. Indeed, both sides played a quality, well-fought match, as the final score was 7-6, 4-6, 9-7. Being at the top of the scoreboard Benoit and Hamilton were also announced as qualifiers, and advance with honor.

-In group 5 we had Branson Faure and Anselme Leon take on Connor Kane and Tyler Toews of the Southern Democratic States. The first 2 sets were definitely the most entertaining and suspenseful of the whole match, as both sides of the court were able to successfully hold their serves to form a high-quality type of play; Leon/Faure winning the first and Kane/Toews winning the second. Toews and Kane lost their momentum they maintained during the third set, allowing Faure and Leon to claim a 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 score, advancing.

-Finally in group 6 Jayce Wood and Ariel Aubert took on Amber Jones/Ashley Stevenson of Southern Democratic States. Aubert and Wood maintained a decent hold of serve against Stevenson and Jones, but not long enough to claim the first set nor the second, allowing Stevenson and Jones to claim a 6-7, 3-6 win over Wood and Aubert.

Electrum Lawn Tennis Association News

Electrumites disappointed as draw released

It has been an inauspicious start to the Electrumites campaign in the Hamilton International as the seven singles players that have qualified through ATP rank and the four doubles pairs have their places locked into the bracket.

In a shocking twist, Electrumite pair Greg Meares and Samuel Gates, who are more well-known to their doubles antics were drawn into the same first round match. Greg Meares, after the draw said that, "There won't be hard feelings after the match, but it's a bit disappointing to be drawn with him." Samuel Gates said that, "Well, you win some, you lose some. We're still going to chest bump at the end, but it's going to be an interesting match. We're evenly skilled, and we know how each other plays. Let's hope for a close match, or it's going to be awkward when we play together in the doubles the day after."

Electrum's only seed in the singles, superstar Mia Cassington drew a qualifier, but was unlucky, as she faces a possible third round encounter with the top seed, Cenite Elain Foyner. Carmichael Brown was drawn into the same section, but will face seventh seed Andy Amada, if he gets that far, but has to worry about a qualifier first up. In Section 2, Malcolm Press will go against a qualifier, whilst Maya Cassington drew the short straw, drawing fifth seed Botack Andiam. Finally, in Section 4, Deanne Smith will go against a qualifier. Electrum's final and soon-to-be-retired player, Joan Levitt, lost her match against Lizbet Rittenhaus, severely jeopardising her chances of making it into the final draw. Tomorrow's match against Benjamin Shaw is a must-win, and she needs to win in straight sets for any shot of continuing.

On the doubles side, first seeds Sonya Gredello and Rosa Levinsky drew Neu Engollon's controversial Paul Quiront, and Thierry Garzala. Samuel Gates and Greg Meares, should they want to continue their friendship after their singles first round match, will go up against India Ferrah and Manila Luzon. Joan Levitt and Deanne Smith will have a tough assignment in Russ Knox and Lupe Gomez from The Andromedan Islands whilst the Cassington sisters are by themselves in Section 2, drawing against sixth seeds, and hard-to-spell Ellela Thotan and Chiache Nagya.

Finally, the ELTA would like to apologise to Madesu player Jayce Wood, after her name was misspelt in the data entry column for her doubles tournament (pairing with Ariel Aubert). President Lewis Stephens said that, "The error can be attributed to a data-entry technician which we had hired to input the names for the bracket generator. He was intoxicated at the time of the data entry, and has promptly been sacked. The ELTA would like to apologise to Jayce Wood specificially for any harm caused to him."

Group 1 Rescorination

It seems like I entered Mandy Miller/Tara Chris instead of Maude Bergeron/Katie Lucic in Group 1. Consequently, it has been rescorinated retroactively with the exact same settings for each day (i.e. the RPs from Day 1 would count towards the first matchday, RPs from Days 1 and 2 would count towards second and so on). This mistake wasn't spotted until now, but it seems like the only solution. As the results were virtually unchanged, I suggest that the RPs should say they accidentally referred to the SDS pair as Mandy Miller and Tara Chris, instead of Bergeron/Lucic.

Johnnie Foster is playing this match with a different attitude. For the first time since before the Winter Classic, he is playing for himself, instead of a Mega Church that looked forward to taking more than 20% of what he will earn this week.

Although he has no chance of making the main draw, Foster plays this match appreciating the freedom he now has. He is free from an overbearing Head Pastor who teaches a false brand of Christianity. When he goes home, the money that he earns will be his. When he goes home, he can join a different church that doesn’t rip off its parishioners. He can join a church that teaches real Christianity.

Until then, Johnnie looks forward to hanging out with his fellow tennis players, experiencing the wonders of Hamilton and figuring some things out for himself.

He looks into the crowd and sees some of the other Andromedan players watching and cheering him on. He’s played a long match and is down a break. His opponent, Lisbet Rittenhaus of New Engelleon, is up a break and is about to serve for the match.

Foster considers the last few days a learning experience. The International Tour is head and shoulders above anything he has ever experienced in the Andromeda Islands.

Louis Rich has not been focused on tennis this week. He is concerned about his relationship with Yelena Kazakova. They had a big argument before he left for Hamilton. Rich proposed to Kaz, but Kaz refused to marry him, despite carrying his child.

Kaz thought that Rich was merely conforming to convention by proposing to her. Rich truly loves Kaz, despite her being a strange bird. He knows that they need to work on their relationship once he goes home tomorrow.

Most of the other Andromedan tennis players are now watching as Rich battles to break Sarah Yon of Devonta. Sure, he has no chance of making the main draw, but ending his qualification run with a win would be better than being shut out. It would show signs of improvement as he adjusts to being a singles player again.

Yon is up 4-3 and is about to serve. Rich heard his iPhone ring, just as Yon serves. The ring distracts Yon. Rich returns. Love-15.

Sarah Yon called for a restroom break. Rich has broken back and the final set is tied at 4 apiece. The heat appears to be affecting Yon’s game.

Rich decides to take his phone into the locker room, which he forgot to do before the match. Before he puts the phone up, he checks his messages.

When the match resumes, Sarah Yon struggles with the sweltering heat of Hamilton while Louis Rich is chillin’ on Cloud 9.

Few people ever make much note of a final Qualification match, but as Louis Rich wins 6-4 in the final set, he feels as if he’s just won the Hamilton Invitational. He will fly home this weekend a happy man.

Qualification Day 3 at Hamilton III Tennis Highlights

Singles Matches

-Today's blazing and windy coverage from the Hamilton Tennis Center began with Mayeso Kayden taking on Javier Pasante of Elejamie. Pasante kicked off the match very well with a high first serve % as well as a % of points won while serving in the first set. Kayden fought back diligently, holding his serve decently, turning the whole match around. In the final set both Kayden and Pasante fought hard to claim the match, but at 4-all Pasante broke Kayden's serve, allowing him to close with a 2-6, 6-2, 4-6 score. Even though Kayden lost this match he was still announced by the ELTA qualified for the first rounds. Congratulations to Kayden!

- Gabe Anderson today took on Kahanna Montrese of Euroslavia. Anderson had quite a rough start in the beginning of the match, as Montrese broke his serve. In the second set Anderson stepped up his game significantly which lead to a second set tiebreak. Unforced errors in the net would cause Anderson the whole match, allowing Montrese to finish off with a 4-6, 6-7 win over Anderson. Anderson unfortunately does not qualify for the early rounds.

-After two difficult but really entertaining matches Odell Bristol finally claims a victory, over Oka Sulastra of Pemecutan. Bristol practically breezed through the first set, only dropping 2 games, and continued his march towards victorious score of 6-2, 6-3. Unfortunately, Bristol did not amass enough points to qualify for the early rounds.

-Madesene big lefty Martin Bond played a valiant match against Ayu Ratih Kemalasari of Pemecutan. In the first set Bond literally breezed through without dropping a single game. In the second set Kemalasari improved his game very significantly, making it difficult for Bond to properly close the game. Kemalasari ended up breaking Bond at 3-all, then both players continued to successfully hold serve. Bond seemed to have gotten the momentum he had in the first set back in the third, just enough to lead Bond to a victory of 6-0, 5-7, 6-1 over Kemalasari. Bond was announced the second singles Madesene player to qualify for the early rounds.

- Rafferty Henri continued his group 7 streak today against Pearl of Euroslavia. The Madesene's rapid service games gave Pearl quite a hard time in the first set. Henri ended up serving 6 aces in the first. Pearl stepped up her game in the second set by doing her best to keep hold of serve and break Henri's serve when she could. Henri ended up breaking Pearl's serve at 3-all allowing him to claim a 6-2, 6-4 victory over the Euroslavian. Henri too was announced qualified by ELTA.

- Sajjad de Sauveterre played a challenging but successful match against Mario Angrisano of the Free Swiss States. Angrisano and De Sauveterre fought back-to-back seeking to determine who will finally close off the first set of this match. Several suspenseful and lengthy rallies were played by Angrisano and De Sauveterre, with 25 being the longest in the match (played during the 4th game of the set). One double fault during the tie-break from Angrisano would cost him the 1 hour, 5 minute long set. De Sauveterre and Angrisano continued to demonstrate quality play in the second set; de Sauveterre finally broke Angrisano at 4-all which would allow De Sauveterre to claim a 7-6, 6-4 win. Sajjad de Saveterre was also announced qualified.

- Benjamin Shaw was said to have stunned the Electrumite crowd today against a fellow Electrumite Joan Levitt. Levitt practically breezed through the first set, as Levitt broke Shaw's serve back-to-back since they were at 3-all. Shaw decided to change things around and stepped up his game in the second set which brought the whole game to the final set. Shaw broke Levitt a total of 4 times in the third, allowing him to claim a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory. Shaw advances to the early rounds.

-Finally we had Madesene lefty Adebowale Gilliam take on John Tailler of the Free Swiss States. Gilliam and Tailler did excellent jobs keeping hold of their serves when Gilliam broke Tailler at 4-all, claiming the first set. The second set was rather tense as Tailler and Gilliam maintained multiple series of deuces, and lengthy rallies. Gilliam was able to pull through the swarming heat and windy conditions as he was able to finish off a 6-4, 7-5 win. Gilliam was also announced qualified.

During one of the NSHQ press conferences we had Ben Shaw talking about his win against the soon-to-retire Joan Levitt.
"Wow, what an amazing 3 days it has been for me, I'm certainly super glad to be here. I mean, Joan really gave it her all, she started off the match really well, I mean, I admit I had a hell of a shaky start. Best of luck to her in her upcoming matches she'll play before her retirement, I'm sure she has made a really big impact in ATP history.

"It made my day when I heard I was qualified into the early rounds of this tournament, holy crap! Wow! I'm most certainly looking forward to playing the top tennis players in the world, and I would also like to congratulate our fellow Madesenes who also qualified, I saw Adebowale playing when I got to my hotel. I'm so excited, thank you!"

Doubles Matches

-While Branson Faure/Anselme Leon lost in straight sets and Jayce Wood/Ariel Aubert lost in 3 there seemed to be some minor technical issues. While the doubles players were being drawn technical officials accidentally referred to the Southern Democratic States' pair as Mandy Miller and Tara Chris, instead of Bergeron/Lucic, affecting the play of Marcel Jamil/Lynton Shelley. Jamil and Shelley were then scheduled to play Shawn Grey and Leonardo Cassetie of The Peoples Emirate tomorrow.

After nearly 20 years of giving you the latest scores, reports and fixtures for upcoming events, we're afraid it's time to say goodbye. It isn't easy, we know, but I'm afraid that's the way things are.

This is no April Fool's joke, by the way. Both of us here at Elejamie Sports Club are actually going to stop updating our site. Why is this, you may ask? We are both involved in a series of projects that just eat up a whole load of our time, meaning we've had to slow down the amount of content we've put out for the site. When we first started, we had new stories coming daily. These days, we were lucky if we could get a couple out a week. And so, rather than forget this site over time, we figured it would be best to post this message.

Our sole consolation is that the ESC Forums will still be up, so if you want to keep debating who's the better ice hockey player out of Michael Madgwick or Ron Berg; if you want to discuss the EFA's plans to join the World Cup; if you want to talk about whether or not we should pay attention to sumo wrestling, then you'll still be able to. We're just not adding new content to the front page. Will we come back to this site? No. We might pop up on the forums every now and then but, apart from that, Elejamie Sports Club will be a ghost site.

And so, let us say another farewell - this time to the group stages of the Hamilton International in Electrum. And first up is Laura Meyer; a player who started her brilliant international career by reaching the second round in the Cenian Open late last year. Despite a few hiccups in later tournaments, she was still able to prove that she was one to take seriously.

And, despite the intense heat and winds, the Hamilton International was no exception. For a start, she completely dominated her Group 6 matches, going through each and every single one of them without losing a set. First up, she faced eventual runner up Martin Bond of Madesu. Despite a very tense first set, which looked like it could go either way, it was Meyer who emerged the victor. The second set became a cakewalk for her as a series of errors from Bond allowed her to snatch the set and the match, resulting in a 7-6, 6-2 victory for her.

Next up was Pemecutanian player Ayu Ratih Kemalasari. In a complete 180 of yesterday's performance, it was Meyer who was on form during the first set, thanks to a series of powerful volleys. However, it was the second set that saw her struggle, thanks to a double fault in the first game of the set. Indeed, it was a very close set with both players trying to come out on top, In the end, the final game of the match was a long and tough one, with the Elejamian and the Pemecutanian trying to win. After roughly fifteen minutes of one player getting an advantage over the other only to lose it, it was Meyer who clinched her second victory of the tournament.

To finish things off, she had an easy match against the United States of Devonta's Brandon Yon, who eventually finished last in the tournament. Yon never really had much of a chance, as Meyer won the first three games without losing a single point. It wasn't until the middle of the fourth game that saw Yon score, which lead him to win the next two games. However, it wasn't enough as Meyer managed to get her own back and win the first set. The second set was also action packed, as both Meyer and Yon made their fair share of faults, outs and misses. Eventually, it was the Elejamian who came out on top, winning the match 6-2, 6-4 and winning the group with three wins out of three, with no sets lost.

Javier Pasante, however, didn't have the best luck. To kick Group 2 off, he went down 3-6, 2-6 to Maude Bergeron, a player from the Southern Democratic States. This was followed by a 1-6, 3-6 thrashing by Dominic Ripaldi from Neu Engellon. But soon fortune started to smile in his favour. Although eventual group winner Mayeso Kayden of Madesu had the upper hand, Pasante managed to scrape a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory. Sadly, this wasn't enough to save him and he eventually finished in last place, with two sets won and five sets lost.

On the upside, Christian Lawrence fared much better in Group 14. Much like his fellow Elejamian Laura Meyer and her aforementioned match against Martin Bond, Lawrence's first match was against a Madesene (in this case, it was Abedowale Guilliam); he won in straight sets and his opponent eventually took the runner-up spot. In this case, there were no problems as he cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 victory. This was then followed by a 6-4, 6-0 thrashing of John Tailler of the Free Swiss States, who eventually came last in his group without a single point.

His third and final match against Southerner Katie Lucic proved to be quite a task. He won the first set with little to no difficulty, thanks to a very powerful serve and a series of well-timed volleys. However, in the second set, Lucic started to fight back; taking advantage of Lawrence's fatigue; she eventually managed to snatch the second set from him. Not to be defeated, he went back on the offence and - doing what he did best - claimed the third and final set and, as a result, the match. The final score: 6-3, 3-6, 6-3; with six sets won and one set lost.

And so, as Javier goes home with a single point to his name, Laura and Christian go through to the next round. She will face Kenya Michaels; whereas he will take on Ceni's Ciache Nagya. They will be joined by already qualified Ethan Stokes, who will be up against Neu Engellon's Thierry Garzala, who was runner up of Group 4. Elejamie's sole doubles team in the tournament - Juan Aldia and Alan Bukowski - will play Connor Kane and Tyler Toews. We wish them the best of luck in the tournament. Shiang Nagatoko left the court with a big smile on his face after defeating Avery Holtzer in straight sets."It's a great feeling" Nagatoko said after his dominating performance. Nagatoko will face April Carrion in the next round."Lets hope I can keep this momentum up and continue these performances."

Fellow Emiritean Shia El Arabia also left the court smiling but for a completely different reason. El Arabia dominated in his game against Rodrick Sarkozy winning in straight sets. El Arabia managed to use his incredible speeds in small bursts which was the key his success. "My first international singles win is huge for me" El Arabia said post match."Sure I won't be competing in the next round but I have restored my confidence."

Also winning his first match of the tournament was teenager Shawn Grey who won in thrilling fashion. Thierry Garzala caused Grey problems early on by Grey managed to take the set 6-4 using his agility. The second set was much more intense as each player played with passion. It was Grey however that managed to overcome his opponent as he celebrate his first and definitely not his last international win.

In amazing fashion Simon Laggoe managed to win his match and group against Tatianna in straight sets, Laggoe looked confident as he smashed ball after ball onto Tatianna's side of the court as he won the first set 6-3. In the second set Laggoe never looked like he was going to get beat as he continued his run of hard hitting plays this time shattering Tatianna's fibreglass racket in to pieces.Laggoe will face 14th ranked Ngurah Putra Muliawan a match in which he says will make fans jump out of their seats.

Continuing his cinderella run Phillip Hoffman defeated Jonathan Iesous in straight sets. "Honestly I can't believe the support." Hoffman said as Emirtean fans exploded into cheers. "To every one here and in The Peoples Emirate I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart." Rumours have been spread that Hoffman may be the first inductee into The Peoples Emirate Sports Hall of Fame.

Questions will definitely be asked of William Tommikins after he blew an early lead losing to Danjiella Zovic eliminating Tommkins from the tournament. Tommkins took an incredible 6-0 win in the first set as the win looked to be in the bag. Tommkins even began to talk to interviewers about his next round opponent. However the 2nd set went down to the wire as Tommkins hit a ball into the net giving Zovic the set win. Things went downhill from there for Tommkins as he was unable to make any real comeback losing the 3rd set 6-3.

"I just want to be a person the Emiritean youth can look up to" A ecstatic Matthews said after his win giving him a berth into the next round. "People said I could't do it but here I am now." Matthews will still have a big mountain to climb as he faces Tatianna who has also been putting in a stellar performance at the 3rd Hamilton International.

Leonardo Cassetie must be the most lucky man in the world right now as he advances to the next round on point difference after getting hammered by his opponent losing in straight sets. "The gods must have been on my side." Cassetie joked moments after he received the news. "I know I have to play better if I want any chance in this tournament and I assure you my next match will feature my skill not my luckiness. Cassetie will face

Congrats to the dual teams of Simone Laggoe/Shia El Arabia and Phillip Hoffman/Shiang Nagatoko who will face 2nd and 4th ranked Elia Xal/Fia Xal and Coosal Darlcheri/Gyrachor Rentos. "It will be fun" Laggoe said as the four men gave a press conference after their respective wins. "I know how much this means to my partner El Arabia but also the to every Emiritean linked to Emiritean tennis."

"This will show we can hang with the big dogs." El Arabia said "To all four of us the next match will be the biggest double competition of our lives."

"Its a privilege to play with a partner as great as Nagatoko and its a privilege to wear The Peoples Emirate crest on your uniform." Hoffman said with a smile on his face.

Former Andromedan tennis greats David Bishop and Lucius Webb both stand outside of Centre Court the morning before the singles competition, staring into a camera, ready to size up the singles and doubles draw at the Hamilton Invitational.

“Here at the Hamilton Tennis Club, it’s Dave Bishop along with Lucius Webb, here at the third Hamilton Invitational. The main draws were finalized last night with the end of doubles qualifying. How does the singles field look?

“We have four Andromedans among the top 16 seeds, despite the fact that many of their contemporaries have played in a few more tournaments. Perhaps this fortnight will see an Andromedan tennis for the first time in more than 20 years.”

“If an Andromedan wins the singles tournament, which one do you think will do it?”

“The clear favourite among our players is Britt Mack. She made the final in her first International Tournament before falling to World #1 Elaine Foyner of Ceni.”

“Mack faces another Andromedan, Esperanza Cho in the opening round.”

“The youngster has had her moments, but I don’t see her derailing Mack’s drive to the Hamilton Title.”

“Do you see any other Andromedans advancing?”

“Like I said before, don’t be deceived by the seeds. Any one of the seeded Andromedans could have a miracle run. Carmen Doyle made the finals in Paradise City. There’s also Maggie Cho and Riley Escobar, who could surprise people here.

“Doesn’t Kay Jackson has a big match early?”

“I’m also looking forward to Kay Jackson’s match against #3 Kika Dovan. Dovan has no love for the Andromeda Islands, having lost to Britt Mack early here last year. If Kay Jackson has a good night, one never knows.

“What about the doubles field. Do we have a chance there?”

“Our best hope in either tournament is with the doubles squad of Bryce Lord and Kelly Cicero. They made the finals here in Hamilton last year and also made the Finals in the Royal Nikolian Open. In both tournaments they lost to #1 ranked Sonya Gredello and Rosa Levinsky of Electrum. If they break the jinx, Bryce and Kelly will have to do it in Gredello and Levinsky’s home country. It’s a lot to ask, but it can be done.”

“What about the rest of the draw? It’s conceivable that both doubles semifinals could be exclusively Andromedan.”

“Conceivable? Yes. Russ Knox and Lupe Gomez could conceivably beat Gredello and Levinsky in their quarter of the draw, but that would be even more of an upset than Lord and Cicero pulling it off in the Final. Bryce and Kelly shouldn’t look too far ahead, since they have the #2 ranked Xal Sisters in their quarter of the draw.”

“Yes, we don’t want out players to look too far ahead. This is just speculation. What about the other two quarters?”

“Ray Thomas and Hayley Van Pelt have avoided qualification and come in to Hamilton seeded seventh. They’re projected to meet Darlcheri and Rentos in the quarters. This young duo are real crowd pleasers.”

“And what about Jack Russell and Myrtle Pratt?”

“This new young duo breezed through qualification. Russell and Pratt’s win in the Winter Classic was considered a fluke, since it was in their home town, but after seeing them in qualification… if they play in the main draw the way they did in qualifying, the doubles tennis world would be turned upside down.”
