Carialus Clairon
Matchday Un

To open up the Qualifiers, the Carialus Comrades played their first game at home. Capital field was thunderous as the Comrades eased through a 2-0 victory over Stvoto Latoli. Quite frankly, the game was far more lopsided than the score suggested. It just took a while for the Comrades to regain their form after such a long period of rest. In fact, not a single player scored throughout the entire first half. The first half was rather dry, with both teams probing out each other. Kraus had a chance to score, but the line judge called the play offsides, much to the dismay of the crowd. Irmedheghi, for the Gold-Whites, also almost scored, but Boulos was able to punch the shot away. The second '45 finaly started off the score tallies as Dumont slipped in the box and gave the fans what they were looking for. The assist came from L'Hiver, who had drawn Ismail away, leaving an opening that Carialus cashed in on. Stvoto Latoli's defense continued to smother any other attempts after that. However, the Gold-Whites had a truly awful attack as they could barely get pass the Comrades' midfielders. Zhooheizhyu was able to run most of the pitch and get a shot at the net, but Boulos punched it away again. Clearly, Boulos was aiming for a clean sheet. Towards the end of the game, around the 86th minute, Kraus slipped into the box but was stopped by abd al Raziq. The official deemed it rough conduct and gave the Comrades a Penalty Kick. Kraus was lined up one on one versus the Gold-Whites star goal keeper, and captain, Lyu. Kraus aimed for the edge of the net. Lyu had done his research and guessed the right direction. Lyu tapped it away, but the ball hit the woodwork and bounced in, much to the bewilderment of the keeper. The game ended like that, 2-0.

THE PERFECT START

The first match is always a tough affair. Neither side want to kick off their campaign with a defeat. As Thibaut arrived in Kernansquillec City for the opening round of qualifying games the game, the outcome was far from certain. Kernansquillec were the favorites against a team ranked 200 odd places bellow them, but given how starting games can go, an upset was far from unimaginable.

But in the end, an upset was never really on the cards. Six goals to nothing leave Kernansquillec top of the group. While the great result was more than enough to catch the eye of most, débutante Varinia Varano was the standout performer of the game, netting a début hat-trick. The number 22 was at the center of most Green and Whites attacks and fully deserved her man of the match award. Andrewson chipped in with a trademark headed goal from Poutre's corner. After providing a goal, Poutre then went on to score himself with a neat finish after Käufer's shot deflected into his path. Substitute Lilac rounded off things late on, proving that he still has the quality to score, even when coming off the bench.

A trip to the group's 3rd seeds Kandorith is up next. Encounters between these two sides who's names start with K have been frequent these past World Cup Qualifying campaigns, with Kandorith having more than their fair share of success. They may have failed to win their opening game, but a point away to Equestrian States is worth quite a bit and says a lot about the strength of their side. The game between the two Ks has got all the ingredients to be a cracker, with two sides in form going head to head once again. Kernansquillec will have to be at their best to get something from this one.

The Christian State did not actually kill Felix's reporter, just somebody in Felix who had the same name. This RP is done with Felix's permission, granted via IRC around a month ago.

The Bloody Cross
The Christian State's leading newspaper

Infidel Reporter Stephen Smith is now Burning in Infernus

Today, soldiers of the Christian State delivered the Wages of Sin to Stephen Smith, a reporter for Radio "Free" Felix. Mr. Smith has a long history of spreading lies and defamation about the Holy Republican Empire. Recently, he finally crossed the final line when he spread outrageous conspiracy theories about the Republican Miracle that led to the election of a Godly government in the Empire.

This drew our attention because we do not tolerate lies about the One True God or denials of His numerous miracles. These miracles should prove beyond all doubt, even to the most ignorant infidels that God exists, that His Only Begotton Son Iesus Christus died on a cross at the hands of evil men and that the True Church of Iesus Christus is just that. For nearly two millenniums, wicked men have spread falsehoods and have willfully denied God's Truth, despite the overwhelming evidence that it is the Truth. God is growing tired of such insults and, therefore, He has Called us to be His Vigilantes, His Avengers so that the wicked may be brought to justice. As it says in the Word, "The Wages of Sin are Death." (Romans 6:23) In addition, one of God's 10 most important Commandments was "Do not lie about your neighbor." (Exodus 20:16) According to Holy Scripture, we are all neighbors. Additionally, "All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for proper living." (2 Timothy 3:16)

Now, if this were Mr. Smith's first offense, we would not have carried out the death sentence. But, he has previously been convicted in Republican courts of spreading falsehoods. Since even a prison sentence could not correct his sins, we simply had no other choice but to put him to death. Earlier today, we found him at his home in Napoli, Felix as he was watching a pornographic "movie" on television, proving that this man was an incorrigible sinner. Fortunately, for the Righteous, our soldiers grabbed him and carried him out to his driveway. There, Mr. Smith was nailed to a standard-issue Christian State cross, turned upside down and left to die painfully. Since he had committed additional sins, our soldiers lit a ring of fire around the cross, to put that evil man out of his misery. Reportedly, they could hear him screaming in pain as they drove away, hoping to avoid any unnecessary confrontations with the local police, who are themselves infidels. Our Christian State soldiers did not want to send any other infidels to Infernus at that point in time.

Within minutes, our official Chatter account announced to the multiverse that another infidel was dead. Steven Smith is the first infidel whose wages we have paid in Felix, but he certainly will not be the last, unless that nation turns away from their sins and begs for God's Mercy. We are the Christian State. We fight so that all the multiverse may know God's Truth and obey the One True God. Judgment Day draweth ever nearer. If you are not right with God, make sure to visit your local branch of the True Church. If there is not a True Church in your area, get in touch with us on Chatter and we'll help you get yourself Saved. The clock is ticking and you will not want to be in rebellion against God when it is your turn to die...

The End - Part II

Andersson gazed bleakly at the slip of paper he'd been given. He'd been reassigned - to Los Juantos province, to investigate the strange rash of boating accidents that'd popped up lately.

It had been a week since the initial reports in Los Juantos, and not a single boat that had gone off the Llamanean coast had come back. To make matters worse, coming within six miles of the coast, a cargo vessel bearing a fresh Trojana shipment from the Royal Kingdom of Quebec had sunk unexpectedly - later information told Andersson that it had sunk the way every other ship had sunk - apparently by the worst bout of off-the-coast lightning that Super-Llamaland had ever had, not to mention that it was a bout of unusually high lightning when the weather was perfectly fine.

One thousand, three hundred, and eighty-nine casualties - mostly in Los Juantos and the great ports of the south, but to the north as well - in fact, every port but the city of Penbrooke. Lyndon Ellison himself had decided to investigate the inevitable accidents that would occur there very soon. It, in fact, appeared that no ship could come within 8.3 miles of Super-Llamaland's main island without being sunk, and everyone on board killed. In addition, no ship could go more than 1.5 miles off the coast without similar disaster befelling their unlucky crew - a zap of lightning, and another boat was added to the total.

An unmitigated shipping disaster, to be sure. But Super-Llamaland couldn't grow everything they ate. If something was not done about it, the nation would starve. Many suggested cargo planes as a way to get around this, but when planes were dispatched, they too could not exit the one-mile mark without disappearing, no matter how high they flew.

Already the first shortages, especially in foreign produce, were starting to take effect. Andersson feared that if whatever was going on continued, the nation would fall apart.

Lions Look to Begin Campaign Strong At Home

Hayden Landers, Nova Anglican Football Today

And so another World Cup cycle begins; another moment where each and every team stands level and everyone's hopes are high before the minnows realize that "Oh yeah, I guess Audioslavia is that good," and the teams on the cusp regret that seemingly harmless MD2 away draw to Bottomofthebarrelstan. Nova Anglicans hopes' are certainly high, given that their team qualified for the World Cup for the first time last cycle. With the second seed in Qualifying Group 12 and a shiny new #35 ranking, Lions fans can rightfully feel as though their team should at least make it to the playoff stage of qualifying. But the problem with high expectations is that qualifying can shatter expectations and illusions in a single moment. In the last qualifying alone, the Lions drew with Western Borderlands and New Ecopia and lost to Taeshani and Kinatarian teams that were clearly not motivated, finishing 5th and 6th in the group, respectively. The Lions managed to qualify regardless of these missteps, but if they hadn't pulled a sweep of Eura out of their hat, those previous errors would have been fatal.

The Lions' qualifying group this time around includes the mighty Unified Sunrise Islands, losers on PKs to Audioslavia in the Round of 16, 54th-ranked Kalumba, a team that remains dangerous despite the Lions smashing them in the World Cup playoff round, the rising star of Omerica (formerly the Saint James Islands), a Wolfbenz team that stopped Gregoryisgodistan from advancing to the playoffs, and BoF runners-up Pridnestrovia, along with the long-winded Schutzenphalia & West Ruhntuhnkuhnland and the mysterious Peace Republic. Perhaps there's not so much to fear from Peace Republic, 6-0 losers on the first matchday, but SWR, ranked nearly 300th, took down 120th-ranked Wolfbenz, and Kalumba and Omerica battled their way to a 1-1 draw.

And the Lions? They built a 2-0 lead behind a spectacular first-half smash from Chris Hodges and Emmanuel Moga's first of two goals. Casey Bowman dispossessed Pridnestrovian forward Peter Schermer, and in a heads-up play, launched a long blast over the defense to a hustling Moga. Svyatoslav Alkaev came out to try to intercept the pass, but was caught in limbo and Moga chipped the ball over the Pridnestrovian goalkeeper to extend the Lions' lead. Young forward Boyan Radev curled an amazing free kick just inside the post in the waning moments before halftime to cut the lead to one in what goalkeeper Tim Klein called "some of the best ball control I've ever seen."

Klein denied Radev off of a corner in the 53rd minute, but he conceded a rebound that soared into the air, where Schermer rose over Terrance Jordan to head it home and tie the score. The lead had evaporated, but the Lions faithful in Kelly Park were not about to allow their team to just give in. A roar rose in the stadium, like the rumbling of a freight train as it approaches a crossing. Lions fans were in full voice, and when Chris Hodges' shot deflected off of Aleksey Vasilyev and out for a corner, the noise rose to deafening levels. Kyle Fleming curled the ball into the box and Phillip Castillo headed one sharply into the ground that took a wicked bounce past Alkaev. Just two minutes after having conceded the tying goal, the Lions were back on top. Our boys were the aggressors for the rest of the half, dominating the pace of play and frustrating Pridnestrovian attempts to equalize. Emmanuel Moga sealed the deal when he snuck a ball into the left corner past a diving Alkaev in the 80th minute, and the Lions would defend their home turf 4-2.

The Lions get to remain at home for their next game, the first leg against the Unified Sunrise Islands. This game, played in Yeoman's Stadium in Eboracum, is all-important even though it comes at the beginning of the qualifying campaign. Right now, the automatic advancement spot for finishing first is still in play, and the Lions' biggest rival for this spot will be the Sunrisians. If they want to have a ghost of a chance at avoiding the playoffs, they must gain at least one point from this game. Even if they can't eventually make it to the top spot, a win here would cover a multitude of sins, as the Eura wins did last cycle. The Lions have to defend their "Pride Rock", as it were, and perhaps Sook Jin Lee can pull off another big upset, as his teams are wont to do. Whatever the result, let's hope that the Sunrisians are better at identifying Nova Anglican players than the Pridnestrovian media were.

Estatic Kitsunes fans after Yabuta Goal
Kairaku,Flardania- Flardania's first game in the World Cup qualifiers against The Fallenmark Islands ended in a 3-e draw. Ilias Garden here in Kairaku was filled with devouted Kitsunes fans. As usual the increasingly famous Otaku Army came vocal as with chants, psalms and giant anime posters of Key Players. It was a close tight game until the bitter end. Coach Kyosuke was perfectly fine with the draw.

"....I'm happy with a draw because a draw gets you points and you never know what that point can do for you. Also knowing how this team finished in the Baptism of Fire after begining with a draw, I feel like our team will be more confident to make as much noise as possible. The Otaku Army fan section was providing our players energy and made sure we keeped the essential homefield advantage. In a match where losing would put us in a bad spot. We passed, is it the best spot? no it's meh, but workable. Our next opponents is one we know little about besides drawing with El Gregoria which is another team we know little about. Hopefully we are prepared enough to win or draw. Now the team is off to bed as we want to be well rested for our next game."

The Kitsunes next opponent is the team hailing from Seventeen Syllables in that nation. Many Flardanians are hoping they can win this time not just to advanced into a better position in the group but to also to be in a position to potential upset in the Group and if not qualify at least reach the Cup of Harmony. For those at home games can be seen on Nagatomo Sport Network (NSN) and Saito Broadcast Channel (SBC) in Japanese or French. For those seeking english broadcast check local network listings.

King Petrus Speaks

I thank everybody around the Kingdom for tuning in to my speech tonight. Do not worry, for your regularly scheduled soccer match will start, as scheduled. I want to see Mr. Theriault's unstoppable defense shut down Paymina, just like all of you. However, before the match, I want to speak to everybody about my upcoming policy initiatives and about current events around the multiverse. There are a number of very important matters at the moment and it is my responsibility, as your King, to keep you informed about what I am doing to serve the well-being of my subjects.

First off, I want to announce my new initiative to improve the quality of health care in my Kingdom. It has come to my attention that a number of parents are refusing to vaccinate their children against common childhood diseases. Shockingly, some have even twisted Scripture to claim that vaccines to prevent disease are contrary to the True Faith. This is an absolute falsehood. Now, I recognize that there are some children who are unable to receive vaccines and that is why it is so important that every child who is physically capable of being vaccinated actually is vaccinated. Therefore, I hereby decree that willful failure to vaccinate your children will now be against the law in my Kingdom, punishable by your children being placed into a True Church orphanage and by a minimum of 20 years in prison. This law will apply not just to citizens, but also to foreign residents and even visitors, for I will not permit irresponsible parents to put the lives of children in danger.

Another concern that has arisen of late is the common perception that music is not worth listening to. While I greatly respect the talents of all of our singers, especially the wholesome role models that make up Cantus Virginum, I recognize that we do not have a sufficient variety of music. Therefore, I have asked the Department of Censorship to loosen our overly stringent stylistic requirements to permit more foreign music to be imported into my Kingdom. However, I also want to reassure every good Christian in my Kingdom that the censors will be working as hard as ever to keep music with sinful lyrics out of the Kingdom. We are a Godly Kingdom and I am never going to abandon the Christian values upon which my family has built this Kingdom.

It is my refusal to abandon our shared Christian values that motivates me to speak out tonight about a menace that is perverting God's Truth and using it to justify the preaching of hate, along with a series of gruesome murders. I speak of the so-called Christian State. The Christian State is a wicked organization which is neither Christian nor a legitimate nation-state. The Christian State claims that their murders are carried out in the name of God and that they are merely delivering the "Wages of Sin" to the wicked. This is a radical distortion of what Scripture actually teaches. Indeed, the very verse they cite goes on to say "but the Gift of God is eternal life through our Lord Iesus Christus." While I am not a member of the clergy, let me assure you that this verse is not calling for the death of unbelievers. True Christians want everybody to embrace God's Truth and we don't believe in killing people for disobedience to God. When the so-called "Christian State" commits murders, they are playing God by taking God's Will into their own hands. God, not man, decides when our fellow men are to die. Those who state otherwise are heretics and false prophets.

I call upon the nations of Taxachusetts, Quebecois Acadiana and Felix to arrest and prosecute to the fullest extent possible under their laws all individuals involved with the Christian State. Indeed, I call upon all nations to declare the Christian State, like the infamous Feministvs Sanctvsterra organization that murdered my father, to be a criminal organization and make membership in or support of the Christian State a criminal act. I hereby declare the Christian State unwelcome within the borders of my Kingdom. If any Christian State terrorists ever attempt to enter my Kingdom, they will be arrested on sight and will be indefinitely locked up in solitary confinement. The Kingdom of Saintland stands against terrorism, regardless of the rationale given by the terrorists and will stand firmly against terrorism as long as I am your King. Thank you for listening to my speech tonight and I hope we can all enjoy the upcoming soccer match.

Season 6, Chapter 2: Revamp

Image
Sunrise: Hell no! I'm never testing that ever again!
Dainer: Stop being a wimp. Test it now!
Sunrise: I don't want to! It hurts!
Sarian: Oh, hurting is the problem?
Mikoto: You're not going to take my boy to another of those dangerous tests!

Mikoto appeared, wearing her old armor.

Mikoto: And no, your little weapon isn't going to make me think otherwise.
Sarian: That's all I had to try and persuade.
Dainer: Fine, but you won't escape next time!
Ytt: Yeah!

The group left the room, leaving Sunrise, Mikoto and an eaves-dropping' Purity, steaming from inside the Dream video game console.

Mikoto: I know you're there, Purity.
Purity: Blast... I should've hidden my flames, shouldn't I?
Mikoto: Yes.
Sunrise: Thanks for saving me from them, darling.
Mikoto: Not a problem~
Purity: But you're going to have to take her to a nice, romantic dinner tonight as a payback.
Sunrise: What?
Mikoto: Well... It is true that we haven't had any couple moment since... well, the kiss.
Sunrise: ...Dropped the ball hard on that, didn't I?
Purity: News.
Sunrise: You're not helping, Purity.
Purity: Bleh.
Mikoto: Anyways... I believe it wouldn't hurt to get a registration at a fancy dinner at the Mall, would it?
Sunrise: Well, not really, no.
Mikoto: Good~

Mikoto handed a fancy suit to Sunrise.

Mikoto: 7:00 PM. Meet me there.

Sunrise lifted his eyebrow, but before he could say anything a brief kiss and Mikoto quickly leaving the room stopped him from doing so.

Sunrise: ...Heh.
Purity: I hope you had enough classes on how to act like a gentlemen.
Sunrise: Why?
Purity: Well, I dunno. It's a fancy dinner, isn't it?
Sunrise: So...?
Purity: So you better act like a civilized human.
Sunrise: Is it that hard?
Purity: Had anyone else asked, maybe. You? Harder than you think.
Sunrise: Screw you.
Purity: Huh. Nice way to act with someone that wants to help you. Anyway, I suggest you get classes on how to behave classy.
Sunrise: And who would help me at that?

An hour later, at Apox's house.

Apox: No.
Sunrise: Why?
Apox: I'm still a girl.
Sunrise: So? Suits you.
Apox: I'M NOT TEACHING YOU A THING BECAUSE OF YOUR PET.
Sunrise: My God. Not pet.
Apox: DOES IT LOOK LIKE I CARE?
Sunrise: Obviously not. But still!
Apox: Does it really matter to you?
Sunrise: Yes! I love her, yet we don't act like a couple for god knows how long!
Apox: I thought Arceus was your god.
Sunrise: Drop it, Apoxie.
Apox: I'm not going to teach you how to act like a gentleman.
Sunrise: Come on! Isn't there anything I can do to make you help me?
Apox: There is one thing. You could try to convince Arceus to turn me back to normal.

A brief cloud of smoke filled the room. Apox, once a girl, was now a gentleman, dressed on a sharp tuxedo.

Sunrise: Well, I guess that was kinda solved.
Apox: ...Wait, so all this time I could've just said I'd teach you to do something and poof?
Sunrise: I dunno.

Arceus peeked through the window.

Arceus: I got bored.
Apox: Well, promises are promises. I hope you're ready, because I'll make you the best gentleman this town ever saw.
Sunrise: I accept.
Apox: Even if it kills you.
Sunrise: What?

Even more hours later.

Apox: Well. I did my best. Hope you're able to get your act straight.
Sunrise: Thanks, bud.
Apox: Not a problem, mate. Now if you excuse me, I have to go do some shopping. Doubt I'll be able to use skirts any more.
Sunrise: Well, Sarian uses a dress and-
Apox: I'm not using skirts anymore! Enough fun was made of me!
Sunrise: Fine... sheesh.

A whole while later, at the mall.

Sunrise: Thanks for driving me.
Dainer: Relax. You swore you'd test our robot arm tomorrow. Guess we could repay you for once.
Ytt: Yup. And besides, we kinda needed to drop by.
Sunrise: Why's that?
Sarian: Unfinished business with some people.
Sunrise: Uh... who?

Sarian pointed through the car's window to a bunch of Raiders, but before they could do anything, Hodori dropped over them with a hot air balloon, knocking them out under the balloon's box.

Hodori: Called me?
Sarian: No, he didn't!
Sunrise: ...Actually, I have an idea.

After picking Mikoto up...

Mikoto: You know, I have to say this wasn't a bad idea at all.
Sunrise: Yeah. Guess I can be a pretty creative.

Hodori poked Sunrise.

Sunrise: Don't worry, we'll leave your balloon when we're done eating.
Hodori: That's not the problem, actually.

The camera zooms out to reveal the couple at a table having dinner while Hodori, Ytt, Dainer and Sarian waited for their dinner on another table, all of them inside the balloon, with a rope ladder keeping them near the Restaurant Plaza inside the mall.

Hodori: It's just that if you find the waiter from the Pizzeria, try to call him for us.
Dainer: I'm dying for some lettuce pizza!
Sarian: It's always about green with you?
Ytt: Yeah, think purple!
Sarian: Not you too with that again.
Tails... Watch out, you're gonna crash, aaaaah!

The Stampede Grounds, Illineigh, Karditan - Decent, but good - that was how newly-appointed manager John Elroy described yesterday's match between the Darvalian Goats and the Karditani Blue Barons. Darvale kicked off their World Cup 71 Qualifying campaign yesterday with a tight game against Karditan, a nation 20 spots above Darvale in the KPB rankings. The match was played at the Stampede Grounds, located in Illineigh, Karditan, where thousands upon thousands of both Darvalian, and Karditani supporters flocked to to watch the game live.

Darvale's new 3-2-1-4 formation was immediately put to the test by the Blue Barons, and, surprisingly, it held against the Karditani offense. The first action of the game saw the match's opening goal. The referee had awarded the Goats with a rather dangerous free kick just a few meters out of the penalty box after a foul on Darvalian striker Spencer Campbell by Karditani center-back Porfirio Mendoza. It was Cedric Pearson, the team's vice-captain, who took the kick, and fired the shot at the goal, but it off the post. Luckily, left winger Ryan Keane was there to rush up, take the rebound, and slot the ball into an empty goal. 1-0 for Darvale in the 16th minute.

The next piece of action came in the 28th minute, and this time, the Karditanis were in the offense. Strikers Xi Mørátüabáterían and Zevaya managed to slink through the Darvalian offense, and then through central-midfielders Steven Bennett and Cedric Pearson, leaving only three men plus goalkeeper Lowell Rose guarding the goal. Zevaya somehow succeeded in lobbing the ball above the heads of all three defenders, and Lowell Rose, which somehow landed at the feet of Mørátüabáterían, who had an open goal in front of him. Mørátüabáterían, however, in an incredible shred of horrible luck, missed the goal by a few centimeters, rendering Darvalian fans outrageously hysterical, and Karditani fans roaring waves of insults at their own player.

The next thirty minutes of the game were highly uneventful - mainly consisting of the ball being passed around between defense and offense, and both teams occasionally losing ball possession to the other. Rarely did either team manage to carry the ball all the way into the other team's box, but as the clock ticked and the end of the 90 minutes drew nearer and nearer, the game gained momentum and intensified. In the 62nd minute, the Karditanis were given a penalty by the referee after an involuntary hand ball on the part of Darvalian defender Owen MacGee. Karditani offensive midfielder Sweet Swing took the kick, and was only a few centimeters from scoring a goal - according to the match officials, at least.

Swing's shot, which was aimed at the bottom-left corner of the goal, was barely tipped away by the fingers of Lowell Rose, deflecting the ball onto the left post, and then onto the right post, at which point defender Marlon Fowler fired the ball away from the goal. However, the Karditanis began to argue that the ball had crossed the goal line after bouncing off the first post, and then curved back out to hit the second post. The situation was finally settled after several minutes of argument between Karditani players and the match officials, when the officials upheld their previous ruling of the legitimacy of the goal, to the relief of the Darvalians.

By the 75th minute mark, the Blue Barons were getting desperate, and began attempting to all run after the ball whenever they could. This tactic, however, failed by the 80th minute, when a long shot by Darvalian Callum Ramsey was barely tipped off the side of the goal. 6-meter box poacher Darrell Burns was able to capitalize on Steven Bennett's corner-kick cross to the fullest, by dolphin-diving to head the ball into the back of the net. 2-0 for the Goats in the 80th minute.

Most of the game's adrenaline had already died down, but little did everyone know that the match still had a bit of spice left in it. In the 85th minute, the Blue Barons were awarded a corner kick that could prove to be dangerous. Karditani midfielder Toby Derringer chipped a cross into the box, where Zevaya jumped up beside Lowell Rose to try and head the ball into the goal. Zevaya succeeded, but sent his hoof (Zevaya is a zebra) flying straight into Rose's face. The referee, however, did not see the foul, and the goal was ruled legitimate. Rose, despite immediately claiming he could barely see out of his right eye, still managed to play out the final minutes of the game. The final score was 2-1, in favor of the Goats.

Image
Darvale's next match will be against group giants Valanora, currently ranked 24th internationally according to the KPB system. The Goats will be playing at their nation's national stadium, the Capital Citadel, located in New Fairbanks. To add on top of the fact that we are expecting to be absolutely crushed by the Vanorians, goalkeeper Lowell Rose will be missing out on the match after his right eye sustained serious damage from yesterday's game. Jordan Bridges is expected to replace him.

The other Matchday 1 games of Group 18 resulted in Pays d'en Haut squeezing Polkopia out 3-2, Valanora losing 1-2 to the Calanian Union, and Aloquirbe hammering Allamunnic States 3-0, leaving Darvale tied at second place with the Calanian Union.

Westwood teak was some of the finest wood you could find in Eura. Firm enough to form a sturdy object yet soft enough to be cut and moulded by the right craftsman, and it had a beautiful colour about it, which made this the most exported lumber product Eura had to offer. Three hundred and ninety-two companies exported millions upon millions of tons of it every year, the only major product of Eura's otherwise unimpressive lumber industry. 'Michael?' Now Michael Judge had to put all of that nonsense from this mornings trade talks with the delegation from Quebec. He was sat at the Prime Minister's chair in the National Defence and Security Committee meeting in Blackhall and the subtle heat of an early autumn afternoon in Bastion was getting through to him. His body wanted to take a short nap, and so did the weather, and the thick suit jacket he was wearing. However, he knew he had to stay sharp and get through this NDSC session, the fourth this week. One of his priorities in office was to sort out various problems facing Eura internationally, so for now the health service and housing could wait. His government had been in office for a few months and was still riding the wave of political honeymoon, just about.

'Sorry, Susan. Ok, lets continue now that we are all agreed on the reactivation of the Daeran ABM system around Eastice, now, erm...Mr Robinson, I believe you wanted to raise on the agenda our current deployment ratios in various theatres, do you not?' Mr Robinson, a 5ft 11in black IR graduate from Donframe had been an early appointment to the Liberal government's foreign policy team despite his relatively young age. The man was smart; young, but published in several journals and entering the job on the back of recommendations from senior security advisers including the chief of the OSI, and Eura's Foreign Secretary Amy Yarley was very much enjoying having him around. She introduced Robinson with a beaming smile. 'Robinson here has done his latest bit of magic on the claims of overstretch that we talked about in our campaign, Prime Minister. Mr Robinson?' He got out of his seat and directed everyone to look at the series of files in front of them. They told a story that had become well told in recent times in Eura, and was starting to worry policymakers. 'Ladies and gentlemen...what is overstretch?' Robinson asked of his audience.

'Overstretch is the current state of the Euran military apparatus and, therefore, the various elements of both our own security and those of our Rushmori friends that are dependent on it. I will keep my hypothesis simple and easy to digest. It is that if we see any increase in the burden put on our military by its current commitments without a further increase in spending and procurement, then we will no longer be in a position to mount a mass scale long range operation should the time for it come, nor will we be able to improve our current security situation with regards to any of our primary threats, not within the budget scheme any party proposed at the election. The Air Force has two million personnel and plenty of aircraft to provide for its primary objectives, that is its roles with regards to Sameba, Valladares and Endemia. We do not expect a massive strain on them. However, the army and navy face evolving challenges.'

'The naval situation is not desperate but it is not good either. Yes, the navy is very large relative to any enemy it might conceivably face - fifty three nuclear and non-nuclear fleet carriers, twenty four light carriers, many missile cruisers and hundreds of escorts, a couple of hundred submarines, hundreds of support vessels, and so on and so forth. Currently however, that fleet carries far too many responsiblites and is very strained. It is committed to guarding the Endemian region, to guarding our coastline, to guarding Helving, to keeping a presence in every major Rushmori trade route, permanent naval overwatch in Mytannion, permanent naval exchanges with the VU and others, Flisgive...the list goes on. When you note that half of the navy needs to be immediatley available for any crisis with Sameba, things look bad. When you note that half of our nuclear submarines are getting too old and that half of our carriers need a refit or refuel, things look worse.' Robinson got some skeptical looks back at him from the audience. It was understandable; the language of the argument was slightly hyperbolic. There would not be chaos if Eura slightly scaled down its military operations. However, Robinson had a point to make about another country here, and he was determined to set it up perfectly.

'Then there is the army. Seven million people in uniform as regulars. Sounds impressive? Its not as impressive as you might think. We permanently have a million men ready across Eura to go as an operational army that we can send anywhere with the Marines, but like I said earlier, we have reached the point where that force will have to be hacked to pieces to fill gaps elsewhere. Why? Commitments, people! Sure, we might have left Mytannion, but the Marines various deployments in Flisgive and elsewhere leave us needing to fill the gap with army regulars constantly. We have a million men on the western frontier and in Army Group West ready for a clash with Valladares in Askoy that won't happen. Millions deployed elsewhere. Many on leave. Then we've only got two and a half million men on the northern frontier with Sameba, which leaves a critical vulnerability given the Sameban's numerical strength for their size. You see-'
'Mr Robinson, this is getting a bit out of hand!' One of the ministers scoffed and stood up to leave. 'Detente is still on, this is ridiculous! The war with Sameba isn't going to happen, ever. They're falling apart at the seams. I won't stand around and listen to this warmonger recommend you take money from my department!' The relatively unimportant Transport Minister stormed out in a huff. After a moments awkward silence, Judge decided to release the tension. 'Mr Robinson, you were saying?'
'...I was about to say, that if you don't take my claims seriously, then maybe these pictures acquired by our intelligence divisions will.'

He slid a large envelope full of photos down the table to Judge. The Prime Minister opened it, and the first photo showed a worrying sight from Aquellco - a famous Sameban town from the last war of symbolic importance, near the border, which had lay dormant for many years (At least militarily). It was an image of a very troubling character.

THE ROYAL BARANGAY TO HAVE A NEW FLAG AND COAT OF ARMS
by Ron Galapon

SANGTI - The government of the Royal Barangay, led by Gran Supremo Antonio Arias, has drafted a proposal for a new flag and coat of arms for the country. This was announced by Spokesperson to the Gran Supremo Abigale Tejada yesterday. Tejada did not disclose any information about the new coat of arms, but it is rumored that it will follow the flag design, which would incorporate the original yellow eagle instead of a black one. The change of flag and coat of arms mean that all government owned and controlled councils will have to update their crests again to reflect the new coat of arms design.

The history of The Royal Barangay flag traces back to its foundation, when a yellow eagle appeared over a black canton with red and blue stripes. After some years, the flag turned into a red-black-blue tricolor with the yellow eagle in center and the number of yellow stars representing the old territories. At the aftermath of the Mogya Revolution and the assassination of Mazda Senina, the flag was changed again, with three horizontal stripes and a black eagle with a crown placed in the right hand side.

Barangayans have expressed delight at this move by the government. For years, there have been discontent at the current flag, as it was un-Barangayan or un-Sangtian. A PulseEsportiva survey was conducted months ago and 82 percent are not happy with the current flag.

AGILANG DILAW BEATS 10-PLAYER CORMORANTS
by Sonia Aldique

SANGTI - The fans thought that the Agilang DIlaw would suffer another first matchday loss. They were dead wrong.

The team that eliminated them from contention from the Campionato took an early lead through Rutger Connacht, but poor defending from the Nepharims allowed Mari Arceo to level the match on the 26th before Erick Khan squeezed the Agilang Dilaw to the lead. The teams were level coming into the break though with Keith Rowland scoring in the 42nd.

The match seemed to destined into a draw, however Tosca Marlowe was sent off in the 70th for a mistimed challenge on a streaking Kristian Marabella. This reduced the Cormorants to ten players, and since then, the Agilang Dilaw took advantage. Marabella and Robin Linsangan scored goals in the 83rd and 90th respectively to give the Barangayans three important points to become joint leaders with Quakmybush who defeated Palmeria, 3-0 and Polaaskan who beat Adoxinia 4-2. Taeshan, the team TRB plays next, drew to Maretta, 2-2.

NURKAMA LOSES TWICE IN A ROW IN WORLD CUP 71

Today, results came and Nurkama had lost twice, putting them at the bottom of group two. The names of people on the team are a complete secret and is only known by the team and their families. Team coach Martin Beldum says that they should have done more training before the competition. Clearly underestimating the rest of the world, the team is in shambles. Losing both to Gregoryis(not)godistan and Maklohi Vai. We have no footage of the games to give a detailed report but we do know that a Nurkama competitor was sleeping on the bench during the Gregoryis(not)godistan game. The competitor was punished and sent back to Nurkama.
The team will have to be lucky if they want a chance at getting to the top. Then again, there has only been two match days so far, the game could change.

OUTLOOKS FOR THE WORLD CUP
by Roman Barlaan

With two matchdays done (and some unexpected results), the road to the World Cup in Felix and Yttribia has really kicked into high gear. After the Agilang Dilaw's loss to Taeshan (more on that later), we project each team's projected points and finish after fourteen matchdays. Here are the standings from Group 3 after two matches:

Group 3 Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Polaaskan 2 2 0 0 6 3 +3 6
2 Maretta 2 1 1 0 5 2 +3 4
3 Taeshan 2 1 1 0 3 2 +1 4
4 The Royal Barangay 2 1 0 1 4 3 +1 3
5 Nephara 2 1 0 1 7 5 +2 3
6 Quakmybush 2 1 0 1 4 5 −1 3
7 Palmeria 2 0 0 2 1 5 −4 0
8 Adoxinia 2 0 0 2 2 7 −5 0

As you can see from the standings, the frontrunners in the group, Taeshan, TRB and Nephara, sit in third, fourth and fifth places respectively, and with the Purple Knights visiting the Cormorants on Matchday 3 and the Agilang Barangay hosting a minnow in Adoxinia, this could be another opportunity for current leaders Polaaskan and Maretta to put up points, while they can.

Matchday 3 Matches
Polaaskan vs Quakmybush
Maretta vs Palmeria
The Royal Barangay vs Adoxinia
Nephara vs Taeshan
Polaaskan vs Quakmybush: Polaaskan is currently in pole position, due to the fact that they have not faced any top seeded teams at the moment, and the earliest matchday that they face a top three seed is on Matchday 5, where they face the Agilang Dilaw. However, never count out Quakmybush. Experience may be a factor here, but a 5-1 thrashing in the hands of Nephara made them look wobbly. I put my money on the BoF 57 runners-up.

BARLAAN PREDICTION: Polaaskan 2-1 Quakmybush

Maretta vs Palmeria: Both are new to the World Cup, both teams progressed from the group stages of the recently concluded Baptism of Fire. However, the edge is on Maretta here. Forcing the Purple Knights to a draw and then beating Adoxinia (as expected) would give the Marettans (or whatever they are called) the advantage.

BARLAAN PREDICTION: Maretta 2-0 Palmeria

The Royal Barangay vs Adoxinia: The Royal Barangay has the experience (two-time World Cup qualifiers, regional cups, players in several multiversal leagues) to destroy the minnowest minnow in the group. But Rick Martinez should be wary of upsets, as several teams found out in Matchday 1. Lack of information about Adoxinia could also add to the mystery, but that would be miniscule at best.

BARLAAN PREDICTION: The Royal Barangay 3-0 Adoxinia

Nephara vs Taeshan: Probably match of the matchday for Group 3. Having snapped a four match slump in style against Quakmybush, the Cormorants finally got their qualifying campaign running. With them facing the last of the top four seeds, the outlook for this team in the future would be good. However, they must overcome the ultra-defensive Purple Knights, which proved to become a nightmare for the Agilang Dilaw attack on Matchday 2. Another probable motivation for the Nepharims is that they are currently behind both The Royal Barangay and Taeshan (the former currently holds the head to head advantage). I think they will eke out a win.

BARLAAN PREDICTION: Nephara 1-0 Taeshan

Outlooks for Group 3

Nephara: With low seeds facing them after the Taeshan match, look for Nephara to get all these points until halfway the campaign. The second half of the qualifiers will see them face their tormentors again, but this time in Sabrefell, which could put them in an advantage. Their total points would depend however on how they handle the Agilang Dilaw and the Purple Knights at the second half of their campaign.

PROJECTED POINTS: 37

The Royal Barangay: Having dropped points against Taeshan, the Agilang Dilaw will need to win their remaining matches to keep up with the Purple Knights and possibly the Cormorants, having beaten the latter on Matchday 1. A possible problem coming into the last matchday is the Quakmybush match which they will play away. However, this team is capable of winning all their matches in the second half of the qualifiers. The Agilang Dilaw have never won an away match against Nephara, but they have been able to record one against a top seed (The Inevitable Syndicate - now The Calanian Union).

PROJECTED POINTS: 37

Taeshan: With Maretta taking points off them, the Purple Knights needed a result against Nephara in order to keep their lead against the top two seeds. Already producing a result against the Agilang Dilaw, a win takes them four points ahead of the top seeds, which could play a big part on their final position. With Quakmybush still on their schedule for the first half of their campaign, the Taeshanis should not be complacent and lose points to less fancied teams.

PROJECTED POINTS: 31

Quakmybush: They already dispatched Palmeria on Matchday 1, but took one to the chin in the hands of Nephara, and now, they face a Polaaskan side looking to make a statement this campaign. The World Cup qualifying veterans will have experience on their hands, but with two of the top three seeds still on their schedule for the first half, look for them to occupy fourth or fifth place depending on Polaaskan's performance.

PROJECTED POINTS: 18

Polaaskan: They did what they needed to do (so far) - not to lose points to lower seeds. Should they beat Quakmybush, and win comfortably against Adoxinia, then the real test comes - TRB, Nephara, Taeshan. This team is not expected to take points off any of these three, but who knows - upsets can come in handy.

PROJECTED POINTS: 21

Maretta: Managed to take a point against Taeshan, and defeated the weakest team that is Adoxinia. A good result against Palmeria could take their tally to seven points, but they have still to face the big guns, plus an up and coming Polaaskan and Quakmybush. They will be lucky if their points tally at the end of the first half will be greater than seven.

PROJECTED POINTS: 13

Palmeria: One of two teams who are yet to score points. That could still take time - as Adoxinia is still four matchdays between them. They could even experience an upset against them. Look for them to score at least four points at the entire campaign.

PROJECTED POINTS: 4

Adoxinia: No one knows what this team can bring into the table, but 2-4 and 0-3 losses have been expected. They could upset Palmeria, but they might not upset other teams other than the seventh seeds.

PROJECTED POINTS: 1

Barangayan midfield struggles against Purple Knights' defense, lose 1-0
TRB 0-1 TAE (Pantoum 36')

Taeshan's pesky defense did not allow the Agilang Dilaw to progress into their box, causing the Barangayan midfield to shoot from distance - which is obviously not effective against an ultra-defensive Taeshanis. The only goal came from a poorly defended set piece, as Lysander Ying Uing's free kick went through the wall, but was saved by Marty Balido. Tyler Pantoum grabbed the rebound and blasted past the keeper who was yet to recover.

Rick Martinez could rest more of his starters against Adoxinia, giving Nino Leron and Kid Marchadesch among others experience.

San Llera Earn One Point from 2 Disappointing games
The San Llera National Team have mustered only a draw in their first two games of World Cup qualification, losing to Lymantatia and beating Palfania. While good performances from Marc Abello and Enric Bou have fans reason for excitement, most are disappointed at the performances. Coach Jon Lleranerus, however, is still upbeat.
We're down, but we'll get up. San Llerans always get up. We are indomitable,we are unstoppable, we will go out their and CRUSH our next opponents! We are one! We are San Llera! We are the greatest nation on this planet and we will FIGHT!

Here are the top three best and worst players from San Llera's games:
Best:
3. Martini Saragosa - Great passing skill as always
2. Enric Bou - Showing major improvement, nearly scored three times so far
1. Marc Abello - Without him, Lymantatia could've had seven.
Worst:
3. Carles Mestre - Failed to convert on plenty of chances set up by teammates
2. Don Llorens - Invisible and almost pointless; shocking from the Captain
1. Chimo Fons - Was to blame for two and a half of goals conceded
There are many places, and one such place is Rushmore.

Team Ndaku ties up the match with Team Jerusalem in Qualification Round

Today, the second qualification day of the 71st World Cup team Ndaku played on the historical football team of Jerusalem. Ndaku vs Jerusalem was definitely an entertaining match, with every pass, corner kick, and goal dictating the honorable football fans all around the massive stadium to stand with national pride and confidence.

Both teams gave it their all; the scoreboard was 0-0 for about 70 minutes. Quality passing and close-to-victory shot on targets were shown by team Ndaku and team Jerusalem. After a few back-to-back passes, Kevin Pitterson of Jerusalem shot a 14 meter pass to James Ruis, thus allowing Ruis to put in the first goal of the entire match for Jerusalem. Ndakene defenders were definitely caught off guard from this shot! This got the Ndakene players to wake up! A few minutes later yet another goal by James Ruis, this time assisted by Steve Harley."Yeeaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!" goes the Jeruselemite crowd; the crowd goes absolutely nuts!

Ndakene attackers responded by setting up a unique long-distant form of 4-3-3 football play. In the 82nd minute number 14 Joel Enzo of Ndaku passed a long-distant shot to Lekan Zuberi, allowing him to cross it over to Léonce Tatenda to put it in! "Allleezzzzz!!!!" goes the Ndakene crowd.

Almost after the Ndakene's celebration and goal the plays by Stephen Azaria and Aurélien Boitumelo were too quick and far for the Jerusalemite team to keep up. A simple pass from Azaria to Boitumelo; Boitumelo crosses it over to Zuberi, back to Tatenda to put in another goal to level the match.

'Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. Princess Laura and Princess Melody at Dazza Dallas Stadium after they drew 2-2 with Ndaku

Laura: This is Princess Laura Virginia Dallas for Naked News Jeruselem. I'm with former Jeruselem and Jeru FC coach, as well as former Jeruselem player Princess Melody to discuss today's game at Dazza Dallas Stadium.
Melody: Well, been a while since I was on TV
Laura: Yes, she is my grandmother. I don't need the bleeding obvious pointed out.
Melody: You sure remind me of someone.
Laura: Ndaku came to Dazza Dallas Stadium and came out with a handy 2-2 draw. We really should have won this one.
Melody: Yes, we should win these games.

Laura: So what went wrong for us?
Melody: I think our defense wasn't too flash today. Their 4-3-3 formation was pretty aggressive
Laura: Yes but not much different to us in some ways
Melody: Except our 4-4-2 is designed for a different kind of game
Laura: I did notice they play far more direct football than us, maybe our defenders aren't use to that kind of approach
Melody: I think maybe we still need more games to be played to finalise our final 11, we haven't sorted out out best 11

Laura: Flakey defense against a team we should keep scoreless. What about the midfield?
Melody: I think they spent most of the game trying to cut out those direct passes which caused us a lot of trouble.
Laura: I didn't get much supply today. It's bad the opposition got in more scoring shots as well.
Melody: They didn't make very good use it though, thank God.
Laura: I didn't get on the scoreboard today. Not that I got many scoring shots to have a go
Melody: Very good goals by James Ruis, they weren't paying attention to our low crosses.

Laura: That's because I'm not terribly tall. I can't get them high ones.
Melody: You did completely fluff another shot.
Laura: Hey, some idiot clipped me before I could have a go. That's why I completely missed the ball.
Melody: I think we could have had two more goals if we finished a bit better.
Laura: Pretty substandard game really
Melody: Yes, we must win these home games against lesser opponents

Laura: We used to have an awful habit of losing early games
Melody: It takes a while to get used to world cup football, it's so different to domestic football
Laura: Our opponent Ndaku did try very hard, so we can't say they didn't deserve their points
Melody: We could have even lost this one.
Laura: Good news with Jeru FC beating Dawnhaven 3-1 in Dawnhaven. 4 points, 2 games. Good from our boys
Melody: Yes, excellent start from the boys.

Laura: Two draws, we need to get a move on.
Melody: Yes, we sure do. We can't really play like this today.
Laura: We have do far better.
Melody: I just noticed you prefer to score goals off your chest than via headers.
Laura: There's more cushioning there. Too many headers makes ya brain go soft.
Melody: You sure have great ... cushioning. Mine look like flat airbags these days.

Laura: That's it from us at Dazza Dallas Stadium. A disappointing home draw. 2 points wasted.
Melody: See ya all later.
Laura: I'm a bit sick of defenders clipping me heels. I spend too much time on the grass.
Melody: I think they know you can evade them if you see them in front of you.
Laura: It's not great for these dodgy knees I got from you
Melody: Well, that's genetics for you.

OOC: Since WCQ will be happening at July to September of 2018 in Quebecois IC time, I had felt that this may be a good thing to RP on. Go ahead and TG me with the information of the performers and the pieces, as have shown (as an example) in this post. Since I haven't decided on how many proms there'd be this season, I'll leave it open for some slots. International groups are welcome, but groups not fitting the criteria (OOC: not typing in enough or proper information with great details) will not be accepted.

QBC Proms: 2018 Season List of Performances (1)

The Proms, more formally known as The QBC Proms, or The Sir. Pascal Park Promenades presented by the QBC, is an eight-week summer season of daily orchestral classical music concerts and other events held annually, predominantly in the Royal Adelphine Hall in Quebec City, Royal Kingdom of Quebec. Founded in 1895, each season currently consists of more than 70 concerts in the Hall, a series of chamber concerts at Hahwoe Hall, additional Prom events across Quebec on the last night, and associated educational and children's events to the benefit of greater crowd. In 2005 the total number of concerts reached 100 for the first time. In the context of classical music festivals, world-renowned conductor Hans Borquist has described the Proms as "the Multiverse's largest and most democratic musical festival".

The Proms remain popular and continue today, and still present newly commissioned music alongside pieces more central to the repertoire and early music. Innovations continue, with pre-Prom talks, lunchtime chamber concerts, children's Proms, Proms in the Park either appearing, or being featured more heavily over the past few years. In Quebec, all concerts are broadcast on QBC Radio 2, while large number of the concert are being broadcasted on QBC TV 3, with some reaching QBC 2 and 1. It is also possible to hear the concerts live from the QBC Proms website, whether past or present. The Last Night is also broadcast in many countries around the Multiverse.

QBC Proms boast the likes of some of Multiverse's most coveted orchestras, as well as some of homeland's most promising and artistically excellent ensembles. Annually around 2 million visitors come and experience this festival of ultimate joy that is the QBC Proms. Here are some of the promenades that'll be on stage this coming August in Quebec City:

Prom 1: The Opening Night
The largest classical music festival in the Multiverse, the QBC Proms also boasts one of the mightiest venues currently in existence. The Royal Adelphine Hall is a monument to the same Arlenian pomp and splendour that swells through William Park's music. There is no better way to open this season than with the composer’s oratorio, The Hongildong – the beautiful story of a musical triptych that started with The Hwalbindang, but that would remain unfinished at Park’s death.

Celebrated Seongmininan and Proms favourite Sir Hebert Regimbault, a Conductor Laureate of the QBC Symphony Orchestra, returns in his 86th-birthday year, joined by a distinguished cast of soloists from the likes of Marc-Andre Simoneaux, Andrea D'Angelo, Jihae Jang, Sandra Wilson and Jane Withers.

Prom 2: Mount Royal Collegiate Philharmonic Orchestra
The Proms debut of the Mount Royal Collegiate Institute opens with the Multiverse premiere of a work by rising Charles-Karl Lanctot. Renowned virtuosos Corey Reynolds-Brandt (trumpet) and Magali Windsor (voice; Alto) joins Balazs Ildiko and the Orchestra for Shin Myeong Park’s Violin Concerto in a bravura programme that concludes with Daniel Rosenikoff's memorable 10th Symphony.

Prom 3: Goldenstein and Nordheim
A contemporary classic opens this concert from the Quebec Youth Symphony Orchestra. Martin Goldenstein's Peep Show is a witty, whistle-stop tour through centuries of Quebecois culture – a high-water mark of 1960s experimentalism, nationalism with musical references extending from ancient Jeongak to Peterson and Chang. The orchestra and twelve amplified, varied soloists muse their way through a lively yet complex web of quotations that frustrate interpretation even as they invite it.

Frode Nordheim’s embattled Sixth Symphony asks the same questions as Peep Show, trying to reconcile the same conflicts and contradictions and finding only chaos, confusion and madness in one of the composer’s most confrontational works.

Prom 4: Late night with......Emilie Chartraw
Note: This is a late-night concert, starting at 9:30 p.m.
Don't forget to stay late, for there is a special Late Night Prom by QRIA Award-winning artist Emilie Chartraw, fêted for her sleek vocals and retro style that brings many of us back to the ancient days of jazz vocalists.

This Prom sees the Kingston native singer-songwriter joined by a 35-piece jazz orchestra and the elite Vasari Voices United for a performance that includes new arrangements of songs from her three platinum-selling albums, as well as from her most recent release, A Summer to forget. A one-off performance striking an intimate mood in the Royal Adelphine Hall.

Prom 5: Battle of the Bands
Note: This Prom starts in 20:30 Central time, as opposed to normal 19:30 starting time.
An elderly Jazz statesman Stefan Noreau presents a Late Night Prom with a difference, as we are transported back to the swing era of the 1930s and 1940s with two of the greatest bands of the day, led at the time by Count Tassi and Boss Parker. With selections such as all-time hits 'Hop on Me Baby', 'Bayou Dances' and 'Club looks better when you be dancin', the roof will surely be raised as these giants of Calanian Jazz do battle for the approval of the audience.

Prom 6: William Park: War Requiem
‘The object and subject of this lies at the war.’ Stefan Gregoridis’ shattering verse sits at the heart of William Park’s War Requiem – the very pacifist outpouring of horror and sorrow. To mark 5 years since the start of the Felixian Civil War, in which the 5,000 lives were lost in the Commonwealth forces, the War Requiem is performed here by the same orchestra that premiered it in 1946 and 2009, in the first anniversary of the armistice that ended the Great Southern Rushmori War and Acadianan Civil WAr.

The Koreana Philharmonic and Music Director Rene Jang are joined by the Universite St.Croix Hamangyeon Singers in its fourth great Quebecois choral work, following powerful performances of Ilya Kugryshev's North Star (1996), Jiwoon Seo's Requiem (2005) and Yves Hongdo Kweon's Nouvelle Couvertures de Baetnori (2014).

Prom 7: Golden Jubilee: The Shirnvayan Chorus' Fiftieth Anniversary Concert
The QRIA-award winning Shirnvayan Choir, celebrating its 40th season, has been under the leadership of Danielle Krosznowski since 1994, during which time the choir has grown significantly in size and reputation to become one of Quebec's most well known choral ensembles. The choir presents an annual Halifax concert series and collaborates with many noted local ensembles and soloists.

Dr. Krosznowski, who also leads the Haligonian Chorus and Celtic Singers of Halifax, is going to be conducting a wide selection of its repertoire over past 40 years, including the likes of Qui Tollis (Ilya Kugryshev), Agnus Dei (Marcel Whyte) and May he wash your tears away (Alison MacGillivray).

Prom 8: Old and New: The Sounds of History
Under the confines of Royal Adelphine Hall, this collaborative concert brings together several outstanding music groups and marks the return of music ensembles from Kingston's Erskine Collegiate Institute.

The Choral ensemble and Symphony Orchestra at Erskine Collegiate have won top awards at their respective fields over its storied history. The 60-voice Erskine Collegiate Chamber Chorus (Senior grades and some auditioned Juniors) has won National Platinum Awards seven times, most recently at the 2018 Royal MusicFest in Quebec City last May. Not behind from its choral counterparts, he 56-member Erskine Symphony's also known for its reputation, including 40 consecutive invitations to the Royal Quebec MusicFest and a concert at Royal Adelphine Hall with its alumni, the legendary Cellist Henri Wagalius.

The program is divided into two halves, the former consisting of a diverse mix of choral and orchestral pieces from Dumont Overture (Andreas Syversen) and Et in terra pax (part of Gloria by Angelo Petrelli) to Tarakihi (traditional Waikatoan song) and Cello Concerto Op.72 (Gabriel Bure). The second part, with the full serenity and moving passion of Xavier Whitacre-Korsakov, will be consisted of Requiem by the aforementioned artist. The 11-movement work, recently commissioned by Erskine music directors Marc Chapdelaine (strings and orchestra) and Moon Jong Sung (choirs), is highly anticipated by the many in what's going to be the world premiere of the piece.

Estenia falls to Buyan

Image
The Estenian players after the end of the match

Esten Sportsplex, Murin

Yesterday night, in an extraordinary match played by both sides, our team fell from Buyan one goal short. And that goal was a very lucky header by debutant Venclova in the 81st minute, a goal that freezed out the whole stadium and many fans left before the whistle blown. The starting lineup for Estenia was Lazrovich under the posts, on the right was Nazarenkov, centre-right was Raksimovich, centre-left was Makareshi and on the left was Lovariev. In the midfield now, on the defending midfielder position was Kopranovich, in a try of Eenpalu to make Stamatev rest for a bit. On the right was Peehlak, on the left Maltsev and on the central attacking midfielder position was Makrov. In the offence were Jakobson and Makarov. For the stronger Buyanese side now, goalkeeper was Saldlund, a keeper who done some excellent saves on last night's match. On the right side is Smetona, on the centre-right side was Tufte and on the centre-left was Giertych and on the left Zemaitis. Defensive midfielder was debutante Venclova, as stated before, the scorer of the only goal of the match, on the right Knutsen and on the left Lammerschon. Attacking midfielder was Devold, the assist maker who made the cross from the left side when he found some space, enough to cross. Left in the offence is Rettinger and on the right Dalmshelf. All those players, were the starting line-ups the teams had for last night.

The stadium had a 50,000 people attendance of Estenians and 9,000 of Buyanese, in a respected move made by the sports federation of Estenia, which is friendly to the Buyanese because of the player transfers that happen the last 3 years in both Buyan and Estenia. The people were mixed up, there was no such thing as 'Estenian Side' and 'Buyanese Side'. Both the teams flipped coins, Estenians chose heads, Buyanese tails. It was heads the result and Estenians chose their side and started the match. Refferee was Thomas Youngston, a Felixian refferee who has 5 years of experience. When he blew the whistle, the Estenian team kicked the ball and started playing a strong passing game to confuse the Buyanese. It was often a success against the Buyanese players, but the Buyanese were pressuring the Estenian one really hard. It was on the 17th minute, Tufte tackled Adrianov hard and was awarded a yellow card. The foul was 21 meters outside the goal, where goalkeeper Saldlund was defending it. Nazarenkov was the kicker of that foul. Youngston blew the whistle and Nazrenkov shot the ball straight to the goalkeepers arms, but it got outside of him and Maksimov shot it in the net, making many Estenians cheering. Sadly though, it was an offside and so the Buyamese were awarded a free kick on the offside spot. 5 minutes later on the 22nd minute, Buyan does the counter-offensive against Estenia. Nice play by Knutsen, Lammerschon and Devold with the last one making a threatening pass to Dalmshelf, who shot the ball on the left side of Lazrovich. Lazrovich then fell to the side of the ball and caught it. Then kicked it inside the field and Kopranovich won the header battle against Venclova and Maltsev took the ball, roulette dribbled Zemaitis and crossed it to Makarov, Makarov with his turn headered the ball to the upper side of the post ending with the Buyanese taking a free kick. On the 34th minute, Buyan threatened our side again, with Makareshi tackling Knutsen in the box and taking a warning. Devold was the penalty taker. Youngston blew the whistle but before that penalty, Nikolaev had warned Lazrovich before match that if a penalty happened he could kick it on the right side, as he knew the Buyanese prefferences in penalties. So Devold kicks it on the right side and Lazrovich falls in that side and saves the ball, Devold kicked the ball again but Lazrovich was stil holding and saved it to go on a corner kick. The corner kick took place on the 36th minute and it was from the right side and Zemaitis was the kicker. Youngston blew the whistle again and Zemaitis kicked the ball and Venclova hadered it to the upper side of the keeper, luckily though Lazrovich grabbed the ball like it was a baby. Estenians with the counter-attack on the 38th minute, Lazrovich kicks the ball inside the pitch Maltsev wins the header battle with Semtona and Giertych and headers it to Kopranovich who gives it agin to Maltsev who sweetly crossed it to him on the left side. Kopraniovich the passed it to Makarov who did an uncaughtable shot but Saldlund did the best save of the qualification stages of the World Cup, he fell on his upper right side and punched the ball out of the box leaving Estenian with a big shock and even his fellow Buyanese compatriots couldn't believe that save. It was amazing, it was the best save of them all in the qualifying stages. It was also the last chance both sides did, because later they played a stable passing game which both sides were unable to advance into a chance. On 45 +3 minutes, the refferee blew the whistle for the end of the first half of the qualifiers.

On the 15 minutes of rest that followed, both sides made a small change of the tactics. Estenians had to make as many counter-attacks as possible and the Buyanese to defend as more as possible to the counter attacks. With the Buyanese tactic being slightly more effective than the Estenian one in the second half.

The second half began with Moen taking Rettingen's position from the Buyanese side and Makarov getting out for Nikolaev, in a try to threaten the Buyanese the most. Buyanese had the ball and the refferee blew the whistle. The Buyanese started a quite effective and good style of play with passes on the side and then the middle in order to confuse the Estenian side. In the 55th minute, Makareshi kicks the ball out but was controlled by Moen's chest and before the ball touched the ground Moen shot the ball to the upper side of the post, ending in a free kick. Many of the fans were shock and a big "Aoh" was the sound, the sound of excitement the match had. But the second half sadly had very few chances from both sides but it was surely an intresting half. On the 61st minute, Estenians had the ball and Nazrenkov did a 30 meter shoot but it ended slightly out. Then a counter attack was made by the Buyanes with Knutse making a sweet cross in front to Dalmshelf who shot the ball and it went really far out with a lucky Estenian kid catching the ball without any problem. On the 79th minute, the Buyanese play an extremely offensive passing game in order to grab those three points. Knutsen shoots it from 21 meters and Lazrovich saved it and it went for a corner, Zemaitis being the kicker again. Knutsen headered the ball to the keeper and it went outside the box but the Estenians were unlucky enough when Devold crossed to to Venclova and he, with a very lucky headered put the ball inside the box. The Buyanese were shouting and cheering their players, on the other, many Estenians left the stadium in anger. On the 85th minute a desparate try from Nikolaev from 90 meters was saved by Saldlund and again on the 87th minute with Saldlund punching the ball out of the box again. On 90 +1 minutes, the Felixian refferee blew the whistle and the match ended with Buyan winning Estenia 0-1, it was an extremely good match by both sides and both coaches were happy and even both sides gave hands in respect and happiness, even though it wasn't the best news for Estenians.

ABANHFLEFT DRAWS ISULA GE RU 0-0, SLIDES TO SEVENTH IN WORLD CUP QUALIFYING GROUP

By Arnold Isaacs

MAY 26 STADIUM, RIUWIEE - A win would have been much better for every Fleftic fan watching in the May 26 and all throughout the country, but a draw was at least still better than another loss against Isula ge Ru, even if the score was a dismal and boring 0-0.

Sports fans will remember that it was Isula ge Ru that knocked Abanhfleft out of the running for the 57th Baptism of Fire, and then went on and the trophy itself. An Isulan goal in the 89th minute of the game made sure that Abanhfleft, one of the favorites of winning the tournament, would suffer an unexpectedly early exit.

But that was all in the past. In the present, Abanhfleft will look to avenge the loss in the Baptism of Fire by triumphing over Isula ge Ru in the World Cup qualifiers. This was one of the most anticipated match in the qualifying series, since it would match up two nations that had suddenly acquired a rivalry following their Baptism of Fire debuts. The May 26 Stadium was a sea of white, blue, and green; traditional sporting colors of the Democratic Republic, but there was a small but significantly loud pocket of 6000 Isulan away fans that could easily cope with the home fans' noise level, and sometimes they even managed to scream louder than the local Fleftics.

The game began with both teams being essentially equal in all stats, from possession to shots to corners to fouls. Abanhfleft itself saw some early chances from Gustavo Potter and Randy Floyd either going wide or getting saved by the Isulan keeper, who looked like he was having the game of his life. The Isulans also had some chances of their own, with one of their midfielders almost netting a goal in the closing seconds of the first half. Luckily, Maksim Varamoninov was also having the game of his life, sending the ball wide just as the referee blew the whistle. The game was locked in a scoreless draw, and remained finely poised to go to either team coming into the second half.

But despite substituting some fresher forward legs in the second half, Kasper Molak's Revolutionaries failed to make any progress against a resolute Isulan defense, and this certainly helped to give their keeper a vital breather. Kevin Kelvin, brought onto the pitch in the 68th minute to replace a flagging Potter, almost gave the Democratic Republic the lead after managing to evade the keeper and slot the ball into the net, but he was eventually ruled offside by the linesman. Video replays appear to show that the decision could have gone either way.

The Isulans also had a tough time penetrating the Fleftic lines after Kelvin's goal was ruled offside, with the Revolutionaries deciding to park the bus and deny their rivals two vital points. Nevertheless, when the game ended, still on a scoreless deadlock, Isula ge Ru was still above us in the group on goal difference, having conceded only two goals as opposed to the five we let fly past us against Turori.

Fans applaud national team for "not giving up this time"

The Fleftic side that went up against Isula ge Ru in this game appeared more composed and competent than the one that faced off against Turori just a few days before, with the forwards and attacking midfield doggedly going for any loose ball that came their way, and the defense and defensive midfield effectively locking out the fearsome Isulan offense to deny them any goal. Manager Kasper Molak heaped praises upon his team, which he claimed had shaken off the rust and the cloud of shame hanging over their defeat against Turori.

"I've given the players a talking-through following the match against Turori," Molak told the press. "I told them that they shouldn't be giving up on a game so easily just because they've got a big lead early on. Other teams have managed to fight their way back and win. They definitely have shaken off the shame that's been hanging over them ever since the game against Turori, and it's definitely good to see the boys fighting and fighting hard."

Abanhfleft seeks to settle another rivalry with away trip to Kazamatsuri later this week

Abanhfleft's next match in this World Cup qualifiers will be against Kazamatsuri, a nation affiliated with the Empire of Mizuyuki, another country with which Abanhfleft suddenly developed a rivalry when Mizuyuki eliminated the Democratic Republic in its first Di Bradini Cup appearance. Even though Kazamatsuri wasn't the country that knocked us out of the tournament, nations connected to other nations will often develop rivalries with nations that the first nation had rivalries with it. It may sound confusing, but that is apparently how the world works now. The team will definitely look for a win against Kazamatsuri, but if it is to be yet another draw, many fans will hope that the Revolutionaries will score at least one goal, just to get rid of that negative point difference.

Greater Watford lost their second game in a row, and already question marks have been raised over the selection and tactics of Alessandro de Rosso. In a campaign that started with confidence, the Hornets look bewildered and nonplussed, especially after today’s display, which ended disappointingly.

The game started slowly, with both sides probing for an opportunity. On 6 minutes, a relatively tame shot was fired by an Atruan midfielder from around 25 yards. It passed between Dowling and Shields, and Hannon looked unsighted, as he helplessly clawed at the ball to no avail. 1-0 to Atrua, out of nothing it seemed.

Just 3 minutes later, it got worse for the Hornets. An Atruan corner was aimed at the near post. A glancing header fell to Dowling on the goal-line, who tried to whack it clear. However his clearance struck the back of an Atruan defender who came up for the corner, and went into the net, beating a stunned Hannon. 2-0 within 10 minutes, and Greater Watford were in disarray.

With a 2-goal lead, Atrua were composed, and limiting options for the Hornets. It would take a moment of brilliance to get the Hornets back into the game, and who else to supply it than Mario Mannetti. Ignacio Peréz picked up the ball 10 yards into the Aturan half. His lobbed through ball was aimed to the edge of the box. Mannetti didn’t wait for it to bounce, and volleyed it into the corner of the near post, reducing the deficit.

Just before half-time, the equaliser came for the Hornets. From a free kick, the keeper parried the ball back towards the 6 yard box. Tilder got there first, and nudged the ball into the net, making it 2-2, providing some relief for the Hornets.

Just 2 minutes into the second half, Greater Watford took the lead. Peréz ran forward, and played a clever one-two with Mannetti to create space for himself, and he had the time and skill to place the ball low past the keeper, to make it 3-2. It now looked like Greater Watford could take victory.

It was not to be however. In the 71st minute, Atrua got space in the box, and although the shot wasn’t the most powerful, it was enough to beat Hannon in the Greater Watfordian goal. 3-3, and the game was good value for money for the fans.

On 88 minutes, Atrua snatched the winner. Again, from a corner, their striker was able to rise highest, and headed the ball across the face of goal and into the far post, beyond any defenders. 4-3, and Atrua celebrated what now appeared to be victory for the Hornets.

The game wasn’t over yet, and there were still notable incidents. On the brink of injury time, Mannetti’s shot drifted wide. Samuel Harris, keen to get the game restarted, tried to get past the keeper off the pitch to place the ball down. Instead, the keeper blocked him, and was shoved into an advertising hoarding by the Hornet’s midfielder. The referee had no option but to send off Harris, who now looks like he’ll face a 3-game ban for violent conduct.

In the final minute of injury time, an Atruan midfielder tried to showboat with some skill moves. Shields, unimpressed by what he saw as gamesmanship, lunged in for the ball, and caught the midfielder late on the knee. Another red card was displayed, and in the ensuring squabble, Peréz and Tilder received yellows. It finished 4-3, a game that leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, and the Hornets must win against Sargkisia, or their campaign will be dead and buried.

Leverstock Green Rovers FC

Formed in 62BU, Leverstock Green Rovers FC, nicknamed the Greenfields, faced little competition as the representative of Leverstock Green. They became founding members of the ICFF, and competed in the Gold Cup and Inter City Cup, but with limited success initially. Their breakthrough came in 52BU, with an upset against St Albans City in the Gold Cup, seeing them all the way to the semi-finals, only to lose 3-2 to Watford FC in a thrilling game.

Initially overlooked by the GWNFA in42BU, being ranked 11th in the national rankings, Leverstock Green Rovers continued to compete in regional leagues. In 37BU, Leverstock Green Rovers won the Gold Cup for the first time ever, and with it secured a place as an expansion team in the GWNFA Super League. This saw them change kits from green and white to grey, something that disappointed the fans to an extent.

Leverstock Green Rovers were never one of the most successful GWNFA teams. Years drifiting around the lower end of the table came to a head in 10BU, when Leverstock Green Rovers faced the dreaded relegation playoff. In the away leg, they drew 3-3 with Stanborough FC. It was 3-3 after 90 minutes at home, but a defensive lapse allowed Stanborough FC to score, relegating the Greenfields.

Leverstock Green Rovers initially competed in the GWNFA Challenge League, but moved across to the GWNFA United and Eastern Alliance after 2 seasons. In 4BU, they won the GWNFA United and Eastern Alliance, and faced a playoff against the faltering Garston Rangers FC. A 2-0 win at home meant almost everyone believed they’d return to the top flight. They collapsed in the away leg, losing 3-0. As the second tier leagues folded, Leverstock Green Rovers wouldn’t play national football until the establishment of the GWFA Super League.

In the Repechage, and now back in green and white, they surprised many by coming 7th. Often considered relegation candidates, they spent the first 3 seasons in relegation dogfights, but avoided the drop. They then achieved 3 consecutive 7th place finishes. Then, in Season 7, they took the lead just after the halfway point. It looked like the Greenfields could take a stunning first title, but unfortunately they faltered at the end of the season, eventually finishing 3rd, a result that still meant a lot to the team.

Kits: Leverstock Green Rovers’ home kit is white, with a nice multitone stripe along the left hand side. The away kit pays homage to the old grey kit worn by the Greenfields for much of their history.

Prospects for Season 8: Another UICA place would be a dream, but unfortunately there are better teams who had a lull in Season 8, and Leverstock Green Rovers will struggle to beat them.
Prediction: 6th

PRIDNESTROVIA TRIUMPHS OVER WOLFBENZ 5-3 IN SECOND MATCH IN WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS

Vladimir Gusev of Wolfbenz sends an elbow into Vladislav Bogomolov's face during their World Cup qualification game in Sheriff Stadium, Tiraspol.

SHERIFF STADIUM, TIRASPOL - In front of 21,000 happy and excited fans, the Pridnestrovian national football team managed to recover from their loss against Nova Anglicana and triumphed over the Wolfbenz national football team by a score of 5-3. Boyan Radev scored his first World Cup qualifiers hat trick, and compatriots Peter Schermer and Selim Tiryaki bagged one goal each for their country. For Wolfbenz, Arseniy Konstantinov, Espen Pavlov and Tihomir Freud scored goals for their country.

Wolfbenz opened up the scoring in the 8th minute with an impressive volley from Konstantinov that had Svyatoslav Alkaev futilely chasing the ball until it met the back of the net. But Pridnestrovia equalized just two minutes later courtesy of Peter Schermer, who chipped the ball into goal from just five yards with the outside of his weak left foot.

Wolfbenz took the lead once again in the 22nd minute when Espen Pavlov was brought down inside the box by Isidor Petrov. Yellow card for Petrov, and a penalty for Wolfbenz. Pavlov calmly sent the ball down the middle of the goal. Alkaev jumped to his left, but he tried to save the ball with his foot to no avail. Thankfully, Pridnestrovia equalized once again five minutes later with a brave run from Radev through the Wolfish defenders and straight for goal. He used some skills to confuse the Wolfish keeper before sending the ball high into the right corner.

Pridnestrovia then took the lead in the 39th minute when Radev scored his second goal by heading in a long pass from Bohuslav Gavrilyuk. However, just before the whistle to end the first half was blown, Freud was able to score a free kick from 26 yards and put the visitors back on the level once again.

The second half calmed down in terms of goals scored, but the tempo of both teams was still very high, and players from both sides were making attacks whenever opportunity presented itself. Vladimir Gusev sent a sharp elbow into Vladislav Bogomolov's face that left the latter's nose bloodied, and Gusev was given a yellow card. Bogomolov was also substituted off the pitch and will apparently not be able to play in the next game. Gusev received his second yellow and was subsequently sent off when he made an unwise tackle on Peter Schermer inside the box. Boyan Radev collected his hat trick after sending the Wolfish keeper the wrong way while taking his penalty kick.

Pridnestrovia finally got the two-goal cushion when substitute striker Selim Tiryaki managed to evade his defender and made a running header at Dumitru Anghelescu's cross, which struck the crossbar in the right place and went into the net.

Manager Werner Ceausescu applauded his team for their performance. "This is exactly the kind of thing that we want to see from our team," he said. "More performances like this, and maybe we won't serve as the higher teams' punching bag."

Pridnestrovia will be heading for the Unified Sunrise Islands in a few days for their third qualification game.

Tess Riether could feel her job slipping away from her.
It had all started so well, too. Last four in the Campionato Esportiva really looked good next to Mortlock's 'one played, one conceded, one lost' debut. From 'top four' to 'four in a row' - Riether was starting to hate the number. It had even been Quakmybush's number four who'd smashed an equaliser past Ballard in the thirty-fourth minute. Irrationally, she wanted to throw on her own number four, brandon, just to try and bring the curse up to an even five. Instead of four.
It had interrupted what had finally been some fluent, fluid attacking play from the Cormorants, and they'd stuttered for the eleven minutes until the whistle. Only one shot on target since then, a tame looping header from Rowland that hadn't even really looped. The number one had comfortably saved it as the fourth official put up his board to announce one solitary minute of added time.
She wished these Quakmybushites put names on their fucking shirts.
Fuck it. Might as well make someone's day. "Warm up, Brigid," she barked at the still-uncapped number 18. "You're coming on at left-back after the interval."
The little ginger, who'd looked bored and frustrated on the bench, perked up immediately. "Really, gaffer?"
Riether rolled her eyes. "Yeah, really. Now c'mon. You can play like eight positions anyway, it'll keep the team guessin' if they're off."

Kestrel didn't need to hear the team talk to be pretty sure of the material. Riether was... well, many of the players didn't know what to make of her. Only the Under-21s who'd played under her.
Kieran Ritter knew. "That one's a fuckin' shark, Ports," he'd told the Treason right midfielder back in the training camp. "Has to keep swimmin' or she'll choke. Context doesn't matter, she wants the three points every single time. Yeah, an' I heard from a mate of mine who worked under her at Westpike-"
"You had a mate who played at Westpike?"
"Yeah, I know like... her assistant manager, Valentine Joannou's sister's my ex-girlfriend. We keep in touch. Anyway apparently she's really stressed by defeat, really driven to succeed."
"Jesus."
"Hell of a manager, though."
"Hope so."
Michael Kellard knew. Sitting next to Brendan Rivers in the canteen, he'd given a few words of advice. "Look, I know you've been worried about having to get the slot-"
"Everyone knows the stories. Every national team manager's the same, picking starters based on club or reputation, not form. Half the time they're afraid of the fucking press-"
"The press don't care as long as you win. Not really they don't. Riether doesn't give a shit about 'em anyway. Trust me, if you have the form - and the attitude - she'll stick with you. Never felt safer than under her."
Elaine Ashdown knew. "She's got ... anger troubles, Nate," she admitted to Nate Walker, eager to get to grips with his new national team.
"Lot of the old hairdryer then, eh?"
"Nah. Nah, not so much. She's a seether, not a shouter. But she uses that anger. Think it's her fuel, really. But nah, no hairdryers. She'll just tell you in excruciating detail what the problem is and how to fix it."
"What if you don't fix it?"
"You get dropped like a stone."
"What if you can't fix the problems? Just you aren't good enough."
"She..." Ashdown hesitated. "She makes you believe. Believe you're just that extra yard from success. Like you can fix it, if you just sweat harder, and, hell, you usually can. And do. We'd do anything for her, Nate."
"You make it sound like a cult."
"Hell, it worked."
Kruse knew. Christener knew.
And Kestrel knew. Riether believed in them. They just had to do better - and they were capable of it. "You weren't capable of it, you wouldn't fuckin' be here!" she used to say.
The Fligsive FC midfielder chuckled to remember it. And before she could reflect more, the rest were out for the second half.

Something had changed in that second half. Suddenly, the Cormorants were ready to kill.
They went back ahead within two minutes. Christener clipped in a low ball, Quinn found some space, ripped a defender off his back and stabbed past the goalkeeper. Bottlegreen threatened to add a second goal to her personal tally with a strike that hit the bar, a snap-shot from Rowland rippled the side netting before Quinn rose best - as always - for Kestrel's cross to head low and hard past the goalkeeper. Another cross got the fourth goal - Belfast powerfully heading home a corner - before Quinn completed his hattrick. A perfect hattrick at that, right, head and now left with a flourish as it took him past the entire Quakmybush defensive line before clipping it past the goalkeeper.
1-1 had become 1-5. Riether, for the first time all match, was smiling with a grim resolve.
And Nephara, suddenly, was back in the driving seat... especially if they disposed of Taeshan next match.

Before the Quakmybush game, and indeed before the Barangay and to an extent Brenecia, Riether had been a bundle of nerves barely facing the right direction.
She was deadly calm ahead of the next match, as the team filtered into the dressing room. "Good to be home, loves," she said with an air of low menace. "We're going to fuck them. Right here, in front of our own fans."
Tosca Marlowe paused midway through her drink. "Good?"
"It's fucking brilliant. I've drilled you to hell and back about breaking the spine of a packed, disciplined defence. Crosses aren't going to be good enough, people - we need possession, need to stretch them, force openings because they're not going to make mistakes. Part of why we're lining up in a diamond tonight - a formation with which you should all be at least roughly familiar, yes? - to make sure we get possession all the time in that equally packed midfield. Mike, you've been a wonderful professional to date, showing up when needed to add some steel. Yeah, well that day's still today. Drop back when needed, but feel free to make the play. Elaine and Logan in midfield with roughly your normal roles, though a little more muscle from you, Elaine, since there's Locky just ahead of you."
"Right, guv."
"Sasha and Stocki, press up the wings. You're sensible lasses, you'll see the openings, but I want you staying, not just hitting those early balls. Hadi, Tosca, Di, same shit as ever - though, Di, a little more care in distribution could never hurt."
"I've been workin' on it, guv."
"Good. And up top, well, Kurt and..." She hesitated. "Rook. Two've you could turn on a fuckin' penny to score. And that's about as much room as you have. Possession mantra doesn't mean shit once the ball's got to you, though I want you doing your yards trying to press, too. But shoot if you get half a chance, if you feel comfortable. Rook, throw your weight around, hurt some people. And..."
Another moment's hesitation. She leaned on the whiteboard which had those names on it, in a diamond unfamiliar to her reign over the Cormorants. Ballard, Christener, Belfast, Marlowe, Stockinger, Brandon, Ashdown, Murdoch, Locke, Cathar and Quinn. Wasn't conventional. But when she felt a tactical switch, she was ready to stand by it.
"If it doesn't work... if it doesn't work, we'll review it at half-time. But it will work. You'll make it work. You'll pull that defence apart 'cause it's too stubborn to tear open. But it will. Break. And you will. Not. You got that?"
"Yes, gaffer!" In various forms, the echo rang across the room.
Riether smiled, darkly. "Then go out there and show that capacity crowd why you deserve the green and black."

Sara Fairhall was pretty sure they didn't deserve this.
Brenecia had dominated the game, but perhaps a little taken off-guard by Estope switching from their favoured 1-0-9 formation to ... well, a formation, had been hit early on the break. And then, interjected by a classy Larissa Connolly goal with the outside of her right boot, they'd somehow contrived to be hit late on the break as well.
Monroe had taken their striker out. Just inside the box.
Fairhall glanced up at the clock. Eighty-eight minutes played.
The man across her was lean, hardened, experienced. He knew he had a real chance here to win the game for Estope, largely against the run of play. Fairhall was pretty sure he'd never heard of her before, and wouldn't be especially impressed if he did know.
Who was? Fairhall couldn't help but smile, grimly - which seemed to have the side effect of unsettling their number 9 a little. Everyone knew Brenecian goalkeepers were shit, A-League ones particularly. Had been since Connell - since a 33-year old Connell, too, not her error-prone older self which had had people calling for Pence to be given a shot.
It was strange, too - Mansfield and Carrick between them had probably made goalkeeper Brenecia's strongest position in depth in the Baptism of Fire, and it would take some time for anyone to figure out who was first-choice. And even though Carrick's reputation had suffered a little, Connell was beloved for her reliability. And... and then, well. Late Connell, the perenially ropey Pence and a lack of alternatives. What had seemed like a steady stream of decent shot-stoppers to the Premiership - much like a decent stream of limited Brenecian strongarms to the Premiership in general - dried up.
Poor Jayce Pence. Fairhall could say she was crushed by the general lack of faith in her, but ultimately, her career had taken her places, to be the most capped Brenecian goalkeeper, and to three fairly strong performances at the World Cup. Mostly she just loved the money.
And then there was Fairhall herself. She was 31. She was a rock, if not an especially nuanced rock. And the main concern was that there was nobody after her.
It was hard not to feel that herself.
But those concerns about her age were bullshit - what was age to a goalkeeper, if she kept her form? And she had every intention to do that.
After what seemed like an eternity, the number 9 started to walk back from the ball.
Yeah. She'd make the pink shirt of the Brenecian shot-stopper a symbol of reliability again.
Starting here. Get the fuck at me, number 9.
He stepped up and swung his boot. Triumphantly, Fairhall clawed it off the line. Swinging out a boot to clear it out for a corner before the striker could get it on the rebound, she stood, triumphant, mobbed by her teammates. This, thought Fairhall smugly, was a new era.
Puppet of Nephara.

In Dawnhaven, ROAW having a drink with Laura Cashman

ROAW: So what did you think of the boy's performance today
Laura: I've seen you lot play better, but it was pretty good
ROAW: We were more relaxed than playing against those Greg crazies
Laura: Yes, that place was a bit weird
ROAW: Good thing we got that game out the way!
Laura: I won't be going there unless we need to again

ROAW: So, what about my goal for the game
Laura: I could have scored it myself, you were just lucky the ball rebounded to yourself
ROAW: OK, it wasn't the most skillful but I was in the right place
Laura: Because of the hard work of the others it got there, you were standing around being a nuisance
ROAW: Say, you played football?
Laura: Me? I tried. You know when a sport isn't for you. Pretty damn useless.

ROAW: You're got a funny accent
Laura: Oh that, part Qazian. Like your girlfriend.
ROAW: Explains why you aren't bothered with nudity
Laura: Definitely not as pretty or popular as her though
ROAW: I can't complain then
Laura: You concentrate on football, think about sex at another time

ROAW: That's asking a lot from a bunch of pervs like us
Laura: You're not teenagers anymore
ROAW: Still crazy young men
Laura: If ya played proper football, you could be far more popular with the girls
ROAW: We'll never be household names, unless we somehow win the cup
Laura: I really don't see that happening anytime soon

ROAW: Hey, any goss if we're getting a new coach. The coach said he wanted to retire before.
Laura: I don't know, the military don't say a lot about these things.
ROAW: So you don't have any idea
Laura: I don't have access to that kind of information. I'm way too low down the chain.
ROAW: We're a bit like that too, no one tells us anything either.
Laura: Considering you lot can't keep secret, I'm not surprised

ROAW: A female coach would be nice
Laura: Anything one with nice titties I'd imagine for you lot
ROAW: That will do.
Laura: I guess that helps you lot pay attention
ROAW: Lack of clothes too
Laura: No wonder no one wants to coach you lot
