It's gonna be everyone's mediocre national teams.

Quick question, Ontie: Are you going to host the first edition, much like you did with the U-18 IHT, then hopefully let other countries host the competition? Or are you going to allow anyone to host the first edition? Or will the tournament only be played in Ontorisa, much like how the real Spengler Cup's only played in Davos?

Agreed. Maybe something like an article on the NSWiki or something like that. I mean the downside is that someone (or some people) are going to have to go through all the old WCoHs on the site (and go through the old Jolt forums if they can) but hopefully it'll be worth it.

I'm gonna put up a host bid for the first edition and then hope that other people will try to host it after. Also, I swear on my mum that I won't go inactive halfway through and then just leave everyone sitting there. If someone else wins the host bid then I'll TG them the majority of the info that they will need.

Now that the WCoH has concluded, as I promised, I am gauging the interest level in the HCL. The last few editions on have only seen like 4 or 5 people posting entrants, which is not enough to keep the competition going. If there is consistently 8 or more users posting entrants, then I am happy to keep it up, but if there is not, it's a lot of time and effort I can put elsewhere.

As I've stated before, I'm interested in this. What about getting a co-host to help you out and alternate scoring? (I'm not volunteering, mind you).

Also, I've given a few players to Savojarna, but I could definitely put up some more if anyone else is interested in some trades. I promise that your players will only go to the top teams of mine that are likely to make the playoffs for selection to the HCL. Would we be able to make a thread for trades, or does one already exist?

SHS takes a long time to do for all the rosters (which idiot wanted to have 24 teams in his league??) but I got about half of it done so I'm also open for trades. Most of the completed ones are the top teams, and the others have their stars done too.

Could be worse. At one point I thought about having 19 teams in my league before I decided to downscale it to 16. I mean, I still don't have a scorinator so it's kind of a moot point but it's still something worth sharing.

P.S. I've got a few players I can send over to Savojarna if you want me to. Same goes to you, Neu Engollon.

Gratz to Val. Maybe next time we won't be absolute jokes.

Anyway, Echoing everyone else I have some blokes who are unattached. Esparmuran has no league of its own (obviously) so trades aren't possible, but there are still a couple minors (and even some on the national team) who are interested in competing overseas.

I still have some space left in my rosters for the Mercedinian Super League. So give us a bell if you're interested in sending some players over here. Alternatively, if you want some players from my National Team or elsewhere, I'm sure I could arrange something for you regarding that

To Kep, I thought we had already started the NSYCH, the OOC/Sign-up thread is here and the Everything Thread is here, so why open another sign-up thread when the resources are already there?

Congrats to Valanora on another title, I'm glad to finally get to the knockout rounds and hope to make it further in the future.

I'd be interested in the HCL after I've set up my rosters and got started with the actual scorination.

SAVOJARNAWJHC12
CandidateNation

As nobody could tell me who would be the official responsible person, or what the precedence is regarding host bid processes for WJHC (or bidding for a currently defunct championship) I decided that I will just publicly announce my interest like this and wait for either sanctioning by officials or generally positive feedback, in which case I'd go through with this bid.

In the name of Savojarna, the Savojar Sports Authority (SSA) and the National Hockey Association (SIHF) it is my pleasure to announce Savojarna's official bid to host the 12th World Junior Hockey Championship, the biggest tournament for U20 ice hockey in the Multiverse!

SAVOJARNA

The People's Republic of Savojarna is an island nation located in the Northern parts of Rushmore, consisting of three major islands, a small part of mainland possessions which was formerly a colony and around 1400 small islands, of which a majority is not constantly inhabited. It was an empire until 1909, when we had a revolution and the resulting state was the People's Republic of Savojarna, a socialist state aiming to increase its people's life standards and development while working towards communist society. As a result, the 22.8 million Savojars enjoy one of the most beneficial ratios of standard of living to price levels. The nation also is crazy about ice hockey, and the biggest matches in the domestic SHS draw huge crowds. In terms of attendance numbers and active players, football beats hockey, but they are at least equal in attention and passion, and hockey stadiums constantly have higher attendance percentages. This makes us confident we can organise a great tournament with enthusiastic Savojar crowds.

HOST CITIES

Sjoedrhavn is our national capital and the biggest city of the nation. It is located on the main island of Vestrholmen and connected to the world by an international airport. Thanks to a new express underground line, you can reach central Sjoedrhavn in only 20 minutes from there. Flights will be offered to all participant nations by International Air Savojarna. The stadia used in the city are both used for professional matches in our highest league, the SHS. Sjoedrhavns Stadsstadion (capacity: 26'400) is usually used by Dynamo Sjoedrhavn and Sjoedrhavn SHK. It will host preliminary games, the Sjoedrhavn half of the KO round and the grand final. NUS Arena (capacity: 9'000) is the stadium of Akademisk HK Sjoedrhavn and hosts a preliminary group. Both stadia are reachable in around 15 minutes from the city center by public transport, which is modern, reliable and free in Sjoedrhavn. Accommodation and training opportunities will be offered by the National University of Sjoedrhavn for all players.

Thorsborg is the third-biggest city in Savojarna and a center of the tech industry. It is also located in Vestrholmen and connected to the rest of the world through its own, smaller international airport mainly used by low-budget companies as well as a highspeed train to Sjoedrhavn which takes about 90 minutes. One return train ride to Sjoedrhavn is included in every ticket for games played in Thorsborg. Like in Sjoedrhavn, we use the city's two SHS stadia for the WJHC. The bigger one is used by CASK Thorsborg, the Stadion General Harden (capacity: 22'000). It hosts a preliminary group and the Thorsborger half of the KO round, as well as third-place playoffs. For the other preliminary group, Thor's Den (12'200) is used, a stadium usually shared by Energie Thorsborg and Thorsborgs Technik. Thorsborg also offers free and reliable public transportation to the stadia, as well as training facilities and accommodation in the People's Army's National Hockey Academy facilities.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

The format obviously depends on the number of signups, but I am aiming for a format with four groups as it has been used at the past WJHCs I was part of. The top 2 of each group will qualify for the quarterfinals, from there it will be single elimination to the end. If more than 28 teams sign up (which I do not expect based on past WJHC's):
30 teams => 6 groups of 5, group winners + two best second-placeds advance
32 teams => 8 groups of 4, top 2 advance to Octofinals
36 teams => 6 groups of 6, top 2 + four best third-placeds advance to Octos.

Tiebreakers
1. H2H points
2. Goal difference
3. H2H goal difference
4. H2H goals scored
5. Goals scored
6. Coin Flip

SCORINATION AND RP

I will use Xkoranate's ice hockey function for scorination, with the full range of style mods up to three decimals, using the Xkoranate style for Style Mods. RP bonus will be given out cumulative based on quality over quantity, and unless you commit violations of rules RP bonus will never be decreased. As an additional feature for RP, I will regularly post updates about the happenings in Savojarna surrounding WJHC at cutoff days, and in the end I will select an all-star team based on the RP performed. This team will then face the SHS all-stars. This is supposed to be an encouragement of RP and some extra reward for great players.

PAST EXPERIENCE

The user behind this bid has a history of about one and a half year on NS Sports as Ficiscia and Savojarna and organised the Neptunia International Sixdays as Ficiscia. Both these nations also ran domestic leagues in ice hockey and football, and I scorinated domestic Olympic Trials for Ficiscia before. Additionally, I have experience organising online contests on other pages (usually connected to music rather than sports). I am hoping to be trusted with the WJHC and use it as a step to higher hosting credentials!

FINAL WORDS

A word about timing: Of course, timing depends on the speed of signups and the time required for the international hockey community to review this bid. I hope to be able to run the tournament in mid-late March, but this depends on a lot of other factors such as avoiding clashes with WCQ77 and the Olympics, or other ice hockey events that may take place. The actual schedule will be decided later when we have more information. I thank you for reading and hopefully considering the Savojar bid for WJHC 12. We think you should pay this beautiful and advanced nation a visit. See you soon in Savojarna!

I agree, why open another sign up thread? Kep, you needed someone to replace a banned user and I messaged you saying I'm interested, then you told me to post in the thread, which I did. Then nothing, it was never scorinated. It's frustrating to set up a roster at the last minute to help you then you don't scorinate the event.

I don't think anyone is actually responsible of the WJHC. I think It used to be Québec but he's busy with the world cup. Your bid looks good, you can go ahead with it.

And congrats Valanora for winning the World Cup.

Looks like we have a lot of people willing to do trades. Maybe we should make a separate thread?

Perhaps some type of standard format for players up for trades too, like: Name, position, age, current/previous club, short bio.
