Not a problem, happy to help. Also, all of that sounds interesting and, if you wish to discuss real-life ice hockey, then here is the place for you, as this thread is just for our fictional ice hockey stuff.

Also, one last bit of advice: Don't worry if your team gets knocked out in the group stage. A vast majority of nations don't make it into the Round of 16 on their first go, though there have been a number of exceptions (one of which is Savojarna's original nation Ficiscia). The best thing to do would be to wait until the next tournament comes around and sign up for that, as you'll be ranked and theoretically that should give you a bit of an edge. Not to mention that taking part in any other sports tournaments in between World Cups of Hockey could probably help you improve your RPs.

Québec isn't a real world team yet, but yes my players are real. It's an alternate world where Québec is an independent country and have it's own national team.

Just remember. You're only limited by your imagination here. Many nations create their own leagues... But if you insist.

Équipe nationale du Québec is my puppet.

I know it, I have a large soccer pyramid with this nation (though my teams names are based off real teams). With Équipe nationale du Québec I'm trying to promote a national team for Québec and to see what it would look like if Québec had a national team. I understand that most people doesn't like to see real players name in these competitions, I usually don't like it myself but I want to promote it and see if it would be viable. If you live in the U.S. or Canada you don't need to do it cuz you already have a national team, but I live in Québec and we don't have one.

Hello. I am working on building up my hockey league once more and am drawing up preliminary rosters, I've noticed the current transfer sheet has fallen into disuse. I will make it more streamlined and more direct and also include a place for free transfers, until then if you have any players looking to play abroad please tg me so I can sort through my proposed rosters.

I might send a few players to your nation, including one of my national players (though I haven't decided if they'll be A-team of B-team), but I'm not exactly sure yet.

I would go into more detail but, not only is there the Hockey Megathread on NSG for that but, even so, I've already gone in a bit of detail there. Either way, I don't have any problems with real-life stuff in fictional competitions (though I won't recommend going overboard and flat-out plagiarising everything; I know that's not what you're doing, it's just an "in general" thing) so I'm not that bothered by it. Besides, I have mentioned real-life countries quite a few times in my RP (for example, bring up my nation's Brazilian diaspora), so there could be a bit of hypocrisy if I did have a problem; that being said, my nation.

The Sherpa Empire wrote:So nice to see everyone posting in the right thread and the conversation going in a constructive direction now. Thanks guys.

You're welcome. Again, I'd rather everyone have a good time and feel comfortable enough to take part in future competitions.

Sure, we can do a home and away series. First match in Ko-oren (specifically, in Schemerdrecht), I'll hear what the away fixture will be.

That'll be fine with me. The away game (as in, the match in my nation) will be at the Declan Madgwick Memorial Stadium in Davenport. All we need now is someone to scorinate and we'll be all set. Though I probably won't be able to do the Cup, I'll still do a pre-tournament friendly with you Savojarna if you want me to, maybe also a home and away thing.

First, I wanna know where are the current rankings? The only rankings I see are in World Cup of Hockey Federation's sig and they're post WCoH 35 rankings. I want to see the post WCoH 36 rankings to see how much points I have. I should have around 14 points.

-I have around 14 points
-I posted a roster which should grant the maximum RP points for a roster or close.
-I posted a roleplay which should grant average grade for a RP.
-Game 1 was scorinated
-I posted another RP which should also grant average grade for a RP.
-Game 2 scorinated

How the heck I draw 1-1 at home against an unkanked team with a roster on MD1? Plus I had a style mod of +2 and my opponent had +5, how come I only scored 1 fucking goal?
Then how the heck I draw again 1-1 at home against an unraked team who didn't had a roster?

I don't like complaining but why my team is always under performing everytime I RP? I'm really really pissed.

Some other teams are underperforming too (Valanora, Novaya Zemlya and Royal Kingdom of Québec) but they have yet to post a roster and a RP. I posted a good roster and 2 RPs who are at least average.

It's only two games in, there is always an element of randomness, and this is not the first tournament where I've seen you complain about results. I think you and Margaret just don't get along and you need to buy her some rubber chickens or something.

Welcome to my world, where Margaret's hatred of me (probably as much as I hate Jennifer Lawrence) results in me getting an uninspiring 1-0 win and a 2-0 loss. Nothing to really RP about so I could get something better, basically.

Here.

Though I must admit that I kind of feel the same here. I mean, while my RPs are essentially copy and pastes with the words changed depending on what's happening and I tend to self-deprecate quite a lot, even I don't think they're that bad. I'm not necessarily calling shenanigans (far from it) but it does seem a bit concerning.

Yeah in the opening post of the everything thread it says that I'm ranked 11th but I wanted to know how much points I have. I have 17 points, posted a roster and 1 or 2 RPs and still draw against unranked teams, it's really frustrating.

Thanks Elejamie for the rankings. My RPs are always the same thing either, I'm not expecting the maximum grade from them but I don't think they aren't that bad either.

With regards to the rankings, a link to the spreadsheet has been in the "Useful Links" section of the OP of the everything thread since last Thursday and I posted them here as well, asking if anyone had any corrections for them. I received no such responses from anyone, except for a PM'd question about how the points for WCoH 36 were calculated as it used a different point system than the rankings.

Alpine Union currently has 17.11 ranking points: 12.11 from results for the last three tournaments and 5 pts from the knockout bonuses.

As for your results, I can't really say anything more than what Sherpa already did: we're only two games in, randomness is always going to be a factor in results, particularly with such a small sample size. Rest assured that you have received credit for your RPs and roster, but I'm not going to reveal what the exact scoring system is, nor will I tell anyone what the exact grades they've received are. I never have before, and I have no intention of starting now.

Finally, with regards to the style mods' impact on results, per my host bid, I'm using the xkoranate/SQIS-style additive style mods for this tournament. This means that two teams facing each other with high style mods will probably have a higher scoring game, but there is no guarantee that will be the case. In my experience, the SQIS mods usually are less noticeable than the NSFS multiplicative mods, which multiply the scores rather than add to them. I use the SQIS mods because they prevent the potential gaming of the GD tiebreaker by those with higher style mods. And, of course, as with the results question, randomness is a factor, and two games is too small a sample size to draw any serious conclusions from.

I'm sorry that you two have felt wronged by the results so far, but once I plug your RP bonuses into the scorinator and hit that little dice button, I have absolutely no control over what the scores it spits out are. Ideally, those with a good enough ranking and the best RPs would be rewarded for their efforts in this and previous tournaments, but unfortunately that's simply not always the case. I'd like to say to wait and that your results will improve, but I can't, because I don't control what the scores are, just what your RP bonuses are. I certainly hope that you get better results, but randomness is one of the 3 R's that we live by in NS Sports tournaments, and I'm not about to buck 15 years of this community's traditions now.

tl;dr: I'm running this tournament the exact same way I have all the others I've run in the last 7+ years here. Be patient and it'll probably get better, but I can't and won't make any promises.

I've written literal pages for a matchday and have had poor results. 3500 words+... And lost to people who've written much less. It happens. Use it as motivation to expand your writing more. Not just length. Add humor. Add character depth. Add drama. There are 50 ways to go about it. Those who get flustered and quit early in tournaments will have a hard time getting to the next level. Also. It does sometimes take a few matchdays for the RP bonus to show its effect. There are tournaments I won which showed early struggles. Sticking with my effort turned things around.

Stand fast.

I understand the previous sentiments. I often feel I get shafted with scorinator results in most NS Sports tournaments lately, but I can't complain this round of WCOH as I've done about as well as I expected for at least one of my nations. (Hope I'm not jinxing myself now.) But, I've been there. It's tough. I guess I got jaded enough that I just started RPing what I wanted, when I wanted, with no expectation that it would effect results. Lowered expectations = Mild to pleasant surprise at good results.

On another note, I messed up until now and forgot to include my HOME HOSTING RINK in my roster for those of you who have RP'd games with me. My apologies.

Just a quick heads-up that I will probably get a proper RP of the Elejamie-Spokane game up later today, it's just that the RP I just posted as nearly done when the MD5 results where posted, so I figured I might as well get it finished rather than just scrap it.

Also, why am I still up?
