Good luck, NWK! Thanks for all you've done. Hope to see you back if/when you feel like it!

I echo what everyone else has said, it was great having you around and I wish you the best if you don't choose to come back although I am hoping that we see you again at some point. I'm glad to see you go out having hosted the CoH with Cass and as BP said maybe you can win the Baptism of Fire before you head off.

Northwest Kalactin wrote:Well, the tl;dr of this is, I’m retiring from NS.

With the college research/application process starting to pick up here in a few months, I likely won’t have much will or time to do NS. I created Sahuarita because I lost interest in RPing with Northwest Kalactin, and I was trying to see if I had any spark left in me to RP, and I really didn’t. This community has been a very large part of my online activity throughout the past 14 months or so, and I was very happy to be a part of it for the time.

Hosting tournaments and RPing has been very fun to do over the past year, and hopefully I’ll be back. I won’t be around for the next 18 months at least, but hopefully, I’ll come back after that.

As far as WGP2 and WC will go, I will make sure to finish off my RPing there with Sahuarita, with at least weekly RPing for Pedro Carballal, and at the very least a roster in WC.

It’s been fun, and I thank all of you that made it that way.

The best of sendoffs to you man, your return has been an absolute delight. You've contributed a lot to the community in your return, and will be missed.

We'll be waiting for you when you return :)

Goodbye NWK mate,

Been good hanging with ya on Discord and the forums, as part of this community! Good luck in your endeavours IRL, and we'll see you when you pop back in again in a bit (they always do, this place is hard to stay away from). But as the mantra goes NS > RL RL > NS. Good luck mate :)

First of all, congratulations to Eshialand for winning the 75th edition of the Baptism of Fire and commiserations to Le Choix/Chromatika.
The final bracket has been completed, and congratulations to Eraman for winning with a total of 22 points.
You can view the final bracket here.

While the victory was great and all, that isn't my main takeaway from this tournament.

The real award, at least for me, was the opportunity to tell my team's story, and to use some of the creative juices I always seem to have running around in my brain.

I've always wanted to tell stories, but I never really considered myself a great writer. I suppose I'm always the one who's full of interesting ideas but never really has anything to do with them. This chance to tell the Owls' story has been an absolute joyride for me, and it still would've been even if I lost to Sonindia on MD 5 and not even qualified for the knockouts as a result.

I'm also extremely grateful for all of the friends I've made along the way, because if it weren't for you, I probably wouldn't have the motivation to keep doing this.

I'm looking forward to my team getting completely demolished in World Cup Qualifying!

Well wishes in the college application process and beyond. Not to beat a dead horse, but you will be missed here. Thanks for everything. o/

On a lighter note, this. And further commiserations ought to be extended to Atheara and Sahuarita/NWK, as well as those who didn’t make it that far. Best of luck to all of you in the qualifiers!

Congrats to our BOF champion and commiserations to the runner up and the rest of the participants. The WC gets tougher every edition b/c strong new nations continue to emerge from the only tournament in NS Sports you can't win twice!

Congratulations to our BoF champions! As for the remainder of the participants, hope that you enjoyed your first introduction to RPing here with the NSS community. If anything, the win and losses in the tournament isn't important. By my count, the competition has been so competitive that the best team only obtained 2.38 KPB. That means that the RPing has been pretty solid, and the 6 full pages of RP definitely proves it. Look forward to RPing with you all.

And if you think that poor BoF results means you are screwed, I suggest you think again (coming from someone who failed to win the BoF) ;)

Most of us failed to win that thing... We collectively suck

Clearly not winning the BoF>winning the BoF

There's 75 nations who have won the BoF while thousands have not won it, strength in numbers

I don't think it's appropriate to create formal policy, but I really don't like it when someone other than the champion makes the last RP post in a competition when the champion has RP'd the final.

I can imagine scenarios when this might be in questionable taste (bumping years-old threads, for instance), but I would hope that a runner-up or third-place playoff participant would have just as much right to RP their perspective on the last game(s) as the winner.

I do have one more RP planned. My finals RP will not be my final RP.

My last RP is done, and I'll post it as soon as everyone's ready.

I also feel this way. A runner-up or a 3rd/4th place nation may have a storyline that they want to bring to a close, or a match re-cap that gives their perspective to the occasion.

I would say the winner should get the right to RP first (assuming the loser wants to RP about the match, and not, say, the self-nuking of their country to write themselves out of the Multiverse in a way they can't possibly come back from), but if the loser wants to write an RP after that, that's fine, as long as they're not gravedigging or contradicting the champion's account or anything.

Absolutely. I think the issue Sarz has is a nation posting following that(?). I would think 24-48 hrs past the final scorination is sufficient time for anyone to close up shop for an event.
