CoH invitations should always be made based on merit IMO. Speaking as a four-time host, the ideal situation is to include the very best RPers you can. For a host, I feel, the measure of success is in how the tournament is RPed. Now, people's criteria for inclusion will always be different, and that's OK; we're not all automatons after all.

Same goes for puppets. There is certainly a case to be made for only inviting one nation per user, though it should not, in my opinion, be a hard and fast rule. Back when I last hosted (CoH64, with Queb), we made a longlist of those who met our qualifying criteria, then had a good long debate on who got the invites. The question of a puppet came up - HopNation and Timbermunich - and we decided, as we had more names on our list than we needed, to only invite one. In this case, we went with the puppet as we felt the RPing was of a higher quality from that account than the main. As it turned out, it was a moot point anyway as the invitation was declined.

Point is, basically, I'll stand by the decision of any host to include or exclude a second nation from a user to the CoH so long as it's based on sound logic. It's their baby, after all.

I'm in favour of keeping a determination on whether or not to invite both nations run by a single user up to the winning hosts.

I don't remember how we decided to handle things either time I co-hosted a Cup of Harmony, but I might handle it differently now.

That said, some users invest greatly into both their main and their puppet. It would be a shame to arbitrarily exclude anyone solely for being a puppet, though I would prefer a newbie who earned a strong RP bonus to an old hand who might have just missed out with a puppet.

Exactly. That's what we will do and this will only come into play at the fringes anyways. And the respective nation/puppet still might decline on their own on top of it. Like if we get the nod towards the bid, I would decline an invitation for Gouvanarch (or just not invite to begin with) solely on the fact that RP'ing Tikariot and hosting would already definitely be enough.

The Holy Empire's next RP will be in the style of a Western. Sheriff Tzimisces will find himself in a gunfight to decide whether or not the frontier town will have itself a football match or not.

If you'd like your nation to be the location of the Western, please send me a TG. Feel free to offer a couple of details to add local colour.

And if geography demands that it should be an Eastern, Northern, or Southern, we can accommodate that.

To make this fair, first-come, first-served.

The CoH should have 16 teams reach the finals and have a group stage that is not overly long. How to achieve thst should be left up to the hosts.

What are the orange-colored teams in each qualifying group (usually 6th and 7th place)? Do they face elimination in the next 2 matches? :/

They're teams who are eliminated from automatic qualification as group winners but can still finish second.

As an addendum to the above, I will be pulling out of the running for WCC president. Anyone who was quick on the draw to vote for me might want to consider recasting their vote.

The reason being that I'm likely to stop participating in the World Cup soon; I had already considered not entering this cycle, and am very disappointed in my lack of motivation to RP the last several qualifiers all together. I'll still be around and likely poking at other competitions in the mean time for a change of pace, and I'll always be hanging out on the discord, but having a non-competing president would be pretty weird.

As to why I'm taking a break from the WC, it's nothing specific that happened—I just think my attention span here is roughly ten cycles. My first stint as Karditan and Falcus had me active from about WC60 to about WC70; now Mriin has had its run from 77 to 87. I'm sure I'll be back with a new nation ready to give it another go at some point. Certainly in time for the WC93 Sonnel Superbid 8)

Following an RP set in Xanneria, and this RP following a fun suggestion from Tequilo, I'm taking further suggestions on where to set appearances from Juan Tzimisces across the multiverse timeline.

There are only two requirements:

1) It must fit some sort of cultural/fictional stereotype (look at the other appearances in the roster; so far I've done everything from Regency/Jane Austen-like fiction through to a Western, Star Wars and Friends).

2) It must have really happened at some point in your nation's past, present, or future. These aren't fictional appearances by Juan Tzimsices, but real appearances through time. Mythic appearances potentially partially based on real events (so a Tzimisces in a Trojan war analogue, for example) do count, and will be cheerfully accepted.

TG me. First come, first-served; we have three matchdays left in regular qualifying, so I welcome ideas!

The amount of detail you give me is entirely up to you.

Hey guys, apologies that the tables took so long last night; I had to manually tabulate all the results in Xkor again because the original WC files were corrupted. I'd just like to give a huge huge thank you to Banija for doing a tonne of the tabulation for me last night. You really saved me a lot of time, absolute lifesaver!

Obviously in about 34-35 hours, I'll be cutting off for the final match day of qualifiers. Make sure to get your RPs in! Just a reminder that only the top team in each group will automatically qualify. Then, the top three second placed teams will also automatically qualify (currently Chromatika, Kelssek, and Astograth). The remaining 16 second-placed teams will enter a home-and-away playoff with the winner across the two legs qualifying.

The first playoff leg will be scored by me (so cutoff will be between 2300-0000 UTC), while the second playoff leg will be scored by Taeshan (cutoff will be at the later cutoff time used in the first leg). Be aware of this when writing your RPs.

Once the CoH host voting is complete we'll also organise with the CoH team scheduling for the two tournaments - our preliminary benchmark is round about next weekend. We do not have a concrete date yet so we'll keep you updated.

Thanks all, and good luck with the final match of qualifiers and the playoffs!

Quick question concerning the playoffs.

1) Will pre or post WCQ87 KPBs applied?
2) Will the RP bonus from the WCQ carried over into the playoffs?

Thank you!
