Congratulations and also commiserations to the VilTur dream team on smashing WC82 in general, and also to the arch nemesis Hinode for winning the CoH.

Just wanna say a big thank you to everyone for participating this cycle, the quality of RP was really high making it excellent fun to host. Particularly big thanks to Valanora for co-hosting the WC with me and to Cosumar & Mriin for their scorination efforts in the qualifiers and for an excellent job running the Cup of Harmony. See you all for WC83!

Hello, everyone! On this date last year, I founded Qusmo here on NS. Looking back, it has been a great ride. It has been punctuated, of course, by this fantastic World Cup 82 cycle; I still can't quite believe how well Qusmo performed. I'd like to take this chance to thank all four of our excellent hosts for this cycle, & I'd like to congratulate Vilita for a well-earned win (though I won't extend any commiserations to Turori, I'm afraid). I'd also like to congratulate Kita-Hinode for what I'm sure will represent only their first WCC trophy in the Hinode era, & I'd like to extend my sincere commiserations to Saltstead, with whom I collaborated for quite a bit, & who I barely edged out for a spot in the World Cup proper - though they deserved a spot in the final thirty-two, & I would have been rooting for them to get there if not for it being them or Qusmo. Overall, I think this has been my favourite WCC cycle to date, & not just for the success with the scorinator I was lucky enough to enjoy; the quality of RP from so many different people was extraordinary, & I'm humbled to have had success against so many people who have written so well.

I've been involved in NS for about four & a half years now, but I was excited by the concept of NS Sport, & Qusmo was my first foray (&, really, only foray of any significance) into this special world. I didn't know a lot of things about this community, & I had a very different idea of how things worked around here; however, as I've come to know more about this space, I've also come to enjoy more about this space. I've had some great successes in the time I have been here; I started off one year ago today by creating a league system & submitting results for the seventy-first UICA cycle just hours before the deadline & signing up for the eightieth World Cup cycle after the deadline, hours before the draw. (It seems some things don't change.) I had no clue what I was doing then - & I'm certainly no expert now - but I had a lot of help along the way, from many people, to get to where I am today. Now, I'm a lot higher up in both the UICA & KPB rankings than I would have thought I could manage within the span of a year, & I've even won a trophy. (I know the Youth Cup isn't the most prestigious of all the competitions we run here, but Atlov Juzuna won edition twenty-five, & that will live on in CH's sheet until they stop running UICA or the heat death of the Universe [whichever comes first]). More importantly than rankings, though, I feel that I've become a much different writer, & person, in the past year - & that, on both counts, while I'm certainly far from perfect, I've changed decidedly for the better. There have been so many people who I have learned from, who have helped me along the way, who have encouraged me, & who have generally made this a really fun place to be; I don't think that I could name them all, but I'm sure y'all know who y'all are. On this one-year anniversary, I want to thank you all.

As I look back, I'm also looking forward. As has been alluded to on IRC & Discord, I am a high schooler; in fact, I'm graduating this year. Over the past couple months, I've been getting college decisions back & - just as importantly for me - scholarship & financial aid decisions, too. I'm still deciding between a couple I really like, but I'm really lucky to have a couple of really great options that I can actually afford. Between classes, activities, & simply enjoying life in the real world, it looks as if I'll be quite busy - &, as much as I've enjoyed this community over the past year, I may not be able to celebrate Qusmo's second NS birthday. That's not to say that I plan to retire immediately; I do plan to continue doing NS when I can until the fall (in the Northern Hemisphere). I'm guessing that would be one more edition each of domestic football, UICA, WCC, CR, & DBC events, though I could well be wrong. There's a possibility I might keep entering Qusmo in some events, in case I have some time to RP, because I do enjoy it; however, if I do, my output would be greatly reduced, & there's also the chance I'd just let Qusmo CTE. There is so much more I want to do with Qusmo - to say nothing of other nations, like The Heraion, Xuois, or several as-of-yet (&, presumably, as-of-ever) unnamed projects I've been bouncing around in my head. However, this is where I see my life is heading, & I wanted to let you all know now, so that you can keep that in mind when you start thinking about your domestic league rosters for next cycle or whatnot. It's only been a year, but it's been a fantastic one to share with y'all; I'm looking forward to the year ahead, & I'm confident that, though I may no longer be an active participant, it'll be the better because of my time here. Thank y'all.
Hello! It's nice to see you again.

You've been a great contributor and an excellent addition to the community, Qusmo. You have more foresight than I did when heading off to college--I foolishly thought I'd still find the time for NS--and I wish you the best of luck going forward. Even if you drift off we'll keep the lights on if you end up wandering back in

Wow. I honestly never knew you were in high school, Q. You know I've been one of your biggest fans, and you have made such a huge impact on NSS, and especially the soccer/football part of it.
Your RP has grown and improved so much from the beginning--I've not even gotten much better, but then I'm loooonnggg past HS/college--and it's wonderful that you have been able to realize a change in yourself over the past year. And yes, the Youth Cup is just as important as the WCC trophies or the other UICA competitions; never think you have to play down that success

Don't apologize for a moment if college takes you away from NS. You'll learn more about yourself in the next 4-5 years, and develop ideas, friendships, and knowledge you'll carry for the rest of your life. You'll always be a part of the community, and always be welcomed back. I wish you nothing but the best of luck in everything you do. And we'll def have to have at least one more match against each other in the future.

I didn't realize you were so new here, Qusmo. You kind of fit right in, so I assumed you'd been around a while and never thought to look at the founding date.

Sigh. I feel sad when one person leaves. Qusmo, I know you will miss NS very much but we bid you farewell. Have a great time at college!
Anyways, I realised one of the old nations, San Jose Guayabal is refounded. I saw him at Lisander's storefront. Glad to see him back.

SITREP/ALL IN FAIR WARNED: I've been performing well enough as of late for the Big Guy to give me a greater challenge. Do not expect me back to my old ways - in light of WC77, let alone WC81 - until the 13th of June (yes, I've enabled vacation mode), although I may be around for a couple of days before that date passes. I am fairly confident that I shall return in time for World Cup LXXXIII.

This is not an announcement that I will leave permanently, nor will I allow Tinhampton's existence to lapse as of this date. Such could be a possibility soon, but certainly not for the next couple of cycles; Maggie willing, I have already alluded to hanging up my boots just after WC100 on Discord (these plans could change and this date moved to either side of that milestone, of course). At best, I will be hyperactive for WC83, then exceptionally lethargic for roughly the following ten tournaments. ;P

It's always a bit sad when an NS Sports regular, particularly somebody with such obvious talent as yourself, has to step away from the forum temporarily or permanently for whatever reason. Most of us long-time users have been there at least once over the years, though, so I prefer to view it as a see you later rather than a farewell. As somebody who also dialed back their NS participation considerably while finishing college, I can reassure you that it's a smart choice to make. Whatever capacity you decide to participate in, if any, we'll be glad to have you around. As always though, RL > NS, even if we don't always like it. If/when you come back, we'll still be here.

Anyways, on a completely different note, *slips on WCC President hat* a heads-up for anyone who's organizing a tournament around the WCC cycle: I'm planning to open up signups for World Cup 83/Baptism of Fire 70 sometime in the next week or two with or without a bid for the tournament(s) to keep our period of total inactivity to a minimum after several recent cycles with multi month off periods, although I've heard rumblings on a couple bids so far which may get that ball rolling before then. As such, if you're wanting to avoid/minimize overlap with the WCC stuff, you might want to start sooner than later.

I like it. It sucks to catch the end of a cycle and know nothing will happen for a few months. Keep it moving, I say.

Speaking of bids, eventually I'd like to try my hand at being the junior partner of a BoF bid. So if someone else is interested in that, TG me.

That feels...I don’t know incredibly early especially since no one has even organized the signups for even a regional tournament, is the WCC looking to pack more WC cycles into a year? I think it should be held off a bit lest we risk burn out for some rpers, various minor cups, WBC and a RUWC amongst others are going on as is for many their domestic leagues which many are plannning to rp there should be more cool down before we set up for another go at least until the regional and Di Bradini Cups are contested.

Someone says this pretty much every cycle. For about 14 years the signups for the next World Cup happened within a day or two of the previous one ending. We always had time for regional competitions and we will continue to have time for regional competitions.

If we started signups tomorrow, the qualifiers for World Cup 83 would be still be starting in July or so. More than two months away.

This isn't early.

Just weighing in and saying that with the last WC, sign-ups opened in December and MD1 of qualifying was at the start of March, so it's a pretty long wait. Opening sign-ups earlier allows for slightly faster cycles and also allows for the possibility of every other day qualifiers, which I know quite a lot of people support in order to try and reduce burn out and stuff.

Are there sign-ups for BoF yet?

RPs I do
- How do you do fellow kids? You want to see something violent? - Artemis: Deimos Trafficking League (Horror/Mature)
- Descend into the forgotten tourist traps of Florida on this transgressive RP! - The Community (Mature/Black Comedy/Slice-of-Life)

My overall account that I use for P2TM and even for international roleplaying! It's basically if the SCP Foundation got mixed with 1984.

Yes; to sign up for the Baptism of Fire, eligible nations (which have never participated in a Baptism of Fire & have not participated in any WCC event in any of the past three World Cup cycles) would simply post in the World Cup signup thread that they are signing up for both events.

Also, when will the World Cup 83 start? Because after I get out of school, I'm going on a 2 week vacation, where I'm going to be missing a bunch.
