I have done the group draw and it will be edited into the OP of the WC RP thread soon.

A quick note that Pink Floyd FC has been bumped up to the main WC field as I discovered that somehow Darkmania had gotten onto the sign-ups list twice when I was doing the draw.

Host update:

Somehow, I had managed to leave Omerica & Abristan off the first WCQs draw (as well as Darkmania being on there twice). In addition, due to Third Asopia's IC name being Dritten Asopie, they were incorrectly listed as being unranked.

With this number of errors, a full redraw has been done, which pending my co-hosts checking it over, will be edited into the WC RP thread OP tonight.

As such, I apologise, but as the last puppet & main on the waitlist, Pink Floyd FC & Novorkov have been excluded from the WC - my sincerest apologies.

Apologies to everyone else for any inconvenience caused. This is tbc pending discussion with co-hosts, but the schedule may be postponed by one day as a result, with confirmation on that coming shortly.

The most up-to-date rankings are and always will be at the bottom of the signature of the NSWC Signups nation. Follow the link to the spreadsheet and the most recent completed version of the ranks will be there.

After review, the redraw appears to be correct and is now posted in the RP OP. As a result of the redraw, the schedule has been pushed back a day, with MD1 now being the 10th.

I'm in the UK so there's been no time change for me. Cutoff will be in about 12 hours.

I want to make sure everyone sees this RP for what I hope to be a WC-long interactive project. It can provide a good opportunity for RP fodder for any nation, especially on those "writer's block" days. This is open to all participants, whether you've been participating since World Cup 1, or if this is your first World Cup.

To the Holy Empire though...currently ranked 12th out of 300-odd teams, and you're unranked. Don't be disheartened by such a result; they're not uncommon, and somewhat to be expected against such opposition.
(If it makes you feel any better, I have seen an 11-3 result before...)

Oh please, you’re in a group with me. Given my fucking luck and track record you will probably beat me 20-0 in both matches we have. Anyway its hard when competing in your first few World Cups. This is my 3rd and I’m still going to do rubbish as usual.

Also bear in mind that the Holy Empire is an exceptionally attack-focussed side, so when their high rank gets the better of you, they'll often smash smaller teams

The situation you've found yourself in is roughly similar to San Marino (unranked minnow) taking on Italy (historically successful multiple past-winner that's gone through a dip in form, but is still a quality side).

Italy's results against San Marino have been wins of 4-0, 4-0, and 8-0.

The good news is that your results will improve over time if you stick with it; which is more than we can say for San Marino!
