I'm reliably led to believe that there's another BoF bid in the works, and when that comes out I'll do a final call for interested WC parties and start a vote based on that response.

Further to this, when the second BoF bid goes up (today, so I'm told) I'll give 48 hours for any last bids, before opening the vote for hosting both BoF and WC at once, and run it until the end of the week.

Now that second BoF bid has come along, I'm giving 48 hours (well, 47.5) from the time of this post for questions and any further bids for the Baptism of Fire and/or the World Cup to come along. Host vote will open in said 47.5 hours' time, and stay open until Sunday morning, my time (Gulf Standard Time - Abu Dhabi, Muscat, or GMT+4). Full details will be in the Presidential Annoucements Thread as per usual.

2003ish. Ths threads for the first 3 World Cups are believed lost as they were on a pre-Jolt forum that auto-pruned everything (like Forum 7 does today).

Over half of the World Cups happened before the current forums started in 2009 because we've been going longer and longer between World Cups.

I wanna say it was March '03.

The votes for World Cup and Baptism of Fire hosts are now open.

If anyone thinks they should or shouldn't be on the EWCC or WCC and are listed incorrectly, please contact Starblaydia via some standard method for corrections - Discord, TG, whatever's clever.

I appreciate the feedback I received from the BoF host entrants.

Per the advice I heard a couple of months ago, I'll be getting the signup for the 2nd BP Open Cup ready for next week, looking to get things going by Feb 5-6? But even as I write this I'm still thinking it over, with the Olympics, the WBC, the Under 18's still not underway...I might delay until further along in the BoF schedule. I don't want to overlap too much but I want to get it in before we get to WCQ.

Advice welcomed/appreciated. It's not even that high a priority that it happens this cycle.

23 hours remaining on the host votes, WCC and EWCC members, thank-you to those who have voted so far.

And the host votes are in! We have BoF and WC hosts, folks, they can take over the signups thread.

Has anyone gotten in contact with EQS? Both the WCoH and the Under-18 World Cup have now been delayed. Does anyone know what's going on?

I believe EQS said the delay to the start of those was because of health and being busy (I think with family, but not certain), so we should presume that has crept up again.

Hey Smarten, assuming you're talking about what I think you're talking about, there isn't a list per se, but you include it in your roster.

So when writing up your roster you put a number between -5 and +5 which denotes how focused on defence or offence your team is, with -5 ultradefensive and +5 ultraoffensive. To find out other people's modifiers you'd have to look at their rosters.

If this isn't what you were asking about just reply to this or TG me or anyone else and we can answer your question.

Tfw your literal first game ends with a 3-0 defeat and you become the lowest ranked on your group

I lost my first match, too. Ended up doing alright, though ;)

Don't sweat it, though, just use it as fuel for more RPing and the stories about your side will be more interesting in the long run.

Pfft.

I lost my first *five* games, Lost to Lovisa and didn't even score a single goal until my 8th game (While RPing every day)

But two cups later I was the one delivering the opening round defeats to newcomers like Starblaydia and not long after that we were both World Cup Champions. So don't look at it as a loss, look at it as a sign of unrealized future potential

On the contrary, Audioslavia won our opening game and battled our way to the last sixteen of our first ever World Cup.

We won our first trophy ten RL years later.

It's perfectly possible to lose your opening game and still go on to win the tournament. And sometimes writing about defeats is more fun than writing about wins. ;)

*returns to polishing BoF trophy*

Lost my first match, but then went on otherwise-unbeaten to win the BoF (with the final being against the team that had beaten me before)...
:)

So you basically did Portugal’s Euro 2004 run except you got the good ending. Nice.
