I mean, we have the factbooks now which are housed on the NS servers.

If those go down or are lost forever, we've got much bigger problems :D

That's very true, and (a version of) my national team article is on there now, but to mess around and get all the template sorted to match what I had before - much less rewrite all of it, is a huge task.

How many of us have some vague interest in using NS Factbooks to make some kind of interconnected mini wiki of sport? Or is there a particular sporting presence on one of the current wikis that are used for NS that we can use?

Could be a bit of a long shot, but we could set up our own dedicated wiki for NS Sport. Think there's some free MediaWiki hosts lurking about.

Problem is the free ones are largely terrible and full of ads, so best is a dedicated one, unfortunately $$$. Although I wouldn't mind covering that for a while, the technical aspects of setting one up seem beyond my meagre IT skills.

NS Factbooks, at least are free

It could start in two weeks.

The deadline for host bids was yesterday I believe, so the vote for the host should start whenever Val or Nephara comes online and we'll probably have a 7 days vote. Then in 7 days, the hosts will be announced and they will decide when it's going to start. They will make the IC thread shortly after they'll be announced as the hosts, then it could take another 5-7 days until it begins. So it could start in two weeks.

Yeah, I remember that. However I don't think Wikia would be as well suited as MediaWiki. Though as Star said they're all relatively poor unless you've got an adblocker.

Alright, this is a bit of an odd question, but do you still RP after you get knocked out of the WC or other tournaments? Like for example do you RP the match that you lost, even though it obviously won't contribute to your chances of winning the next match (because you're out)? Does such an RP still contribute to our rankings at the end of the tournament?

You don't have to RP at all, or you can RP as much as you want - even after your team has been knocked out - particularly to report on the match that did knock you out or to finish up any story line that you had already started during the cup.

As for what is normal - it is normal to RP about the match that knocked you out. Most folks don't post more than 1 additional RP in the thread after they've been eliminated - though there is nothing preventing you from doing that if you had a reason or wanted to.

The RPs you write only give boosts to your ranking during the tournament for scorination purposes, they're not permanently added to your ranking score.

You can 100% post after you've been eliminated, perhaps there's a particular way you'd like to go out, or the fallout from that match is immediate and can't wait until the next tournament. Maybe you just want to continue the story, too.

People writing stories or background or whatever in threads when they are guaranteed to get no bonus from it get extra cool points on a personal level in my book, fwiw.

like others have said, it's really up to you. I'm one who likes to at least wrap up any narrative or extended RP I've got going instead of just stopping cold turkey. I might do a final long post on my domestic thread or as a dispatch and just do a small blurb, where I would include a link to whatever I've written elsewhere.
And as Star said, some people do respect you and give you "cool points" for basically RPing for no reward. :)

I could give you our current one, Cinga Munrich. We did well in the WC80 qualifiers but got knocked out by Damukuni(it still bothers meh). We got 3rd place, which is enough to send you to the playoffs. But don't remind me of WC79 tho. Cuz if u do look at the results, you'd not probably choose him, just speaking. :p

But they would all probably expect to have a serious role in overall player/technical development as that's how we do things here. They wouldn't be interested in just being "first team coaches".
