What you mean is the Solomon Islands flag is riffing on the NSWC Signups flag if Brazil were world champions. Also, damn. i don't think I've ever seen that flag in my life, but appear to have almost completely reproduced it. I'm sure Kita-Hinode loves it either way, lol

If I did a Chicago one it'd just end up being a CM Punk flag, fire notwithstanding.

So it's been a while since I've really done anything NSS-wise. I can't remember if it was ever explained to me or not, but how does KPB work for nations that haven't appeared in the past few WCs? The last one I believe I was apart of was WC73, as I don't appear in the current KPB rankings spreadsheet. Is it just reset?

KPBs take the last three cycles into account, so since WC74-76 you'll have slid down and down, and now will have a rank of 0 since wc77.

I understand that there is no overall agreement on this, but IC-ly speaking how often does the World Cup take place for most nations? Every one, two, four years? I want to keep things as realistic as possible for my team and I'd love to RP my players as they age, mature, and perhaps become legends along the way, or even retire and then become manager for the next competition à la Zidane.

For realism, do 4 (like me). The problem here is that, as per real Cups, players will only get 2 or 3 attempts to become legends on the World Stage and you have to generate new players a lot more often. Players wkll, though, end up with roughly reasonable numbers for appearances and goals compared to real life if you take part in regional and/or other occasional tournaments.

For ease of making sense with the rest of the forum, doing 1 year per UICA (essentially the champions league) season, run in the Domestic Newswires thread, is very common.

As long as you're consistent internally with how long things take in your own nation, you'll easily have a handle on it and work out what's best for the way you RP and organise around it.

There's no set timeframe really. It's entirely up to you! Can be a bit of a pain keeping it sync with UICA (domestic football) though as they don't always run at the same time. For me personally, it tends to vary depending on UICA (as that determines how old my players are going into the competition). Others have less fluid timescales - WC one IC year, regional tournament the next, then WC again, etc.

As Star and Sem have pointed out, there is not set time limit, although the convention for a majority of nations has been 2 years per World Cup or 1 year per UICA cycle, as typically there has been 2 UICA cycles in a World Cup cycle. There are pitfalls to this, such as when there is not 2 UICA cycles per WC, but it is the most commonly used convention.

Eastfield Lodge wrote:Well, we're currently having the big regional football competitions, so once those are nearly done (in a week or two probably), the Baptism of Fire will start. WC qualifying can only start once the BoF finishes. At a rough guess, we're looking at 4-6 weeks for qualifying to start.

I'd guesstimate it will be closer to the end of that window since we currently don't have any BoF bids yet and the regional tournaments are only just getting started with the actual competition phase (Atlantian Oceania starts this evening, but Rushmore and Esportiva haven't even finished host voting yet). We'll need at least one BoF bid, a week for voting, probably two or three weeks for the BoF to run to completion, and then a week or two between the end of the BoF and MD1 of qualifying. The actual roster and RP threads for the WC will likely be up well before the start of qualifying, but I wouldn't expect us to actually start qualifying before the second week of August or thereabouts.

As for when the roster thread will be up, that'll be up to the hosts once they're selected, but it'll probably be after the BoF is closer to finishing.

What time would you suggest for nations to start putting in a host bid for the BoF?
2nd place finish in BoF 66. There's more to come! Hopefully..
