I think I just posted my longest World Cup RP post. Actually, I'm pretty sure it's my longest roleplaying post on any subforum or on any site, period. It didn't take me that long to write it somehow but it came out to 6.9k words. Hopefully that makes up for how I've been kind of working on the Patierre storyline for more than half of a year but never finding the time to give it real attention and develop it like I wanted. I basically ended up skipping over the war, which was supposed to be a big storyline across multiple tournaments, and not giving the insurgency much attention. Now that part of the story gets attention, and even though the actual uprising is only going to be three parts, it's looking like they're all going to be good and long.

EDIT: Also, this is an unrelated request to Audioslavia, but next time the rankings are updated can the name of the country be updated from Anglatia to Imperial Anglatia? The team represents the entire Empire and not just the island of Anglatia itself, and it fits with the Imperial branding that's used by the national team. ICly, nobody that's actually from Anglatia calls them Anglatia, it's always the Empire or the Imperials.

What's the closest that any team has come to winning the World Cup without dropping a single point?

A couple of teams that had perfect cycles - winning every game in qualifying, and then every game in the World Cup (winning without needing penalties).

Apparently it was only Valanora, sometime in the early WC 40s. A few teams have gone unbeaten in the entire World Cup, and a few have dropped points in just one or two games. Don't ask me who though. :p

Off the top of my head, the Holy Empire won every single game in WC 62. Closest they came to not winning a game was beating Vilita in extra time in the semifinals.

Looking at the records, Farf is correct, though THE did use Extra Time to win one of their matches and the cycle that I did it, I did not. Still goes down as a completely perfect cycle though.

Meanwhile, though I haven't cross-referenced it against anyone else, I might have a record for the worst World Cup win - squeaking into the World Cup via the playoffs after a pretty dismal qualifying run and only winning three matches all tournament, one in extra time.

WORLD CUP 74 QUALIFYING - 2/7, won playoffs
Uzekia 1 - 1 Nephara
Nephara 3 - 1 Abanhfleft
Omerica 3 - 2 Nephara
Nephara 1 - 0 Augusticinia
Braxil 1 - 2 Nephara
Nephara 3 - 0 Yosmar
Nephara 3 - 1 Uzekia
Abanhfleft 0 - 3 Nephara
Nephara 3 - 1 Omerica
Augusticinia 2 - 4 Nephara
Nephara 1 - 1 Braxil
Yosmar 1 - 3 Nephara

The Sword Bloke 0 - 3 Nephara
Nephara 3 - 2 The Sword Bloke

WORLD CUP 74 - Champions!
Eura 4 - 3 Nephara
Nephara 3 - 3 Polkopia
Super Llamaland 1 - 2 Nephara

Ko-oren 1 - 1 Nephara (1-1 aet, 4-5 pens)
Royal Kingdom of Quebec 3 - 3 Nephara (3-4 aet)
Eura 3 - 4 Nephara
Nephara 1 - 1 San Jose Guayabal (1-1 aet, 5-3 pens)

How soon does the Cup of Harmony typically start after qualification? Is there a sign-up period again? Got a busy period coming up so I may need to start writing some editable RPs in advance.

The Cup of Harmony is an invitational tournament for the best roleplayers that didn't manage to qualify for the world cup. I believe it takes place around the same time as the world cup as well, I believe.

Once the hosts are announced, they should immediately begin assessing the WCQ Thread to determine which (32)* teams they will send invitations to. Any team that is in the "for sure" list should receive an invitation once qualifying ends (or before hand for the top 10 or so)

Bubble teams would receive invitations a few days later depending on which nations ultimate qualify and perhaps unresponsive invitees.

There is no signup thread. Its invitation only

Ah okay, I thought maybe if you didn't qualify you got to sign-up again.

So, what, a week between the end of one and the start of the other?

The Cup of Harmony and World Cup proper run concurrently, usually the final matches are within a day of each other depending on how schedules work out.
