I reckon our current manager's going to be sacked if we don't qualify, or finish in a reasonable position - i.e 1st to 4th place.

You could go on and win the thing, but on the RP side it would be similar to the OFB expecting Austria to qualify for a world cup and firing a manager every time they fail to do so.

Or the FA expecting the England side to win a World Cup :p

Jokes aside, if you want to RP it that way go ahead but don't expect to always be a contender takes a couple cycles first. Firing a manager each time he fails to qualify an inexperienced team would be silly if it were real life. Since I came back I have had three managers and one caretaker (excluding the current manager) over 11-12 cycles. Only two have been fired for poor performance and the other retired. Even now despite being a top 20 nation and top seed I don't expect to finish in the top two, I think you can only get that luxury if you are in the top 5 but the random factor could still find a way to push you out.

I would like to apologize for the super late cutoff and the super late results that came off that final matchday. I had some personal stuff going on and I couldn't do my job of grading and scorinating at the proper time.

Not really. Managers often get fired for "lack of progress". That could quite easily be the angle here. If the Semarland FA has high expectations and the current boss isn't making reasonable progress toward them, it's entirely realistic that they would fire him. Football clubs fire managers after less than two years all the time. Even when they expected to be in a relegation battle, and the manager keeps them up, sometimes.

Yeah, I fired my old manager for lack of progress. And his replacement (from Osarius) seems to be doing the job ;)

I'd say that it's up to Sem to decide whether to fire his manager or not. Whether it makes any sense to us doesn't really matter, as ICly the Semarlandic authorities might be crazy. There is precedent in RL for certain, for example my club Watford firing a manager after eight days, a win and a draw.

Well as I said if that's what he wants to do that's up to him, but I just think that come inexperienced teams IRL that don't have a high chance of qualifying aren't going to be firing managers every tournament.

At club level those clubs that churn them out tend to be the ones that are usually high performing and then falling down, not always but usually.

Well, the Bear-Belles are doing rather nicely even without much RP from me... although the shortage of Valanoran RP probably helped a bit (especially when we played against them...) too.
My apologies to anybody from among those of you in the group who have been RPing who feels disappointed by this combination of facts, but unfortunately a combination of RL circumstances and a shortage of ideas are limiting me at the moment... and you might fare better against urrs in the second half of the qualifiers, with the RP bonus that you'll have accumulated by then...

i'm happy to see (well maybe not from a results standpoint since more people RPing means less RP bonus edge for me) that i think all but 2 or 3 teams have RPed in my group for a change. usually it tended to be just the two or three teams that did so which was fine for my bonus but pretty dull to post about during the group stages.

I seem to recall at least one nation killing their manager for poor results, so Semarland's manager should count himself lucky. (OOC: The RL Watford FC could do with another manager the way things are going).

There isn't going to be a CoH vote, since nobody put in a competing bid prior to mid-qual and the Felix-Mizuyuki bid was already, sort of, accepted.

NSWC Signups wrote:*World Cup 70 Hosting:
Equestrian States and San José Guayabal (with Felix and Mizuyuki for CoH) are the only bidders.

Please also note that as agreed, acceptance of this bid will, in the case of no other CoH bids being posted by the end of the first half of qualification, automatically award the CoH to Felix and Mizuyuki and will negate the requirement for a further CoH vote later on.
